In short
The episode is a sports talk segment mixing NBA roster news, draft/anti-tanking rules, and WNBA results. First, the Knicks’ Mitchell Robinson is out with a broken pinky finger; the hosts argue it mainly hurts his defense/shot-blocking and could worsen “Hacker Robinson” free-throw issues, with no clear return timetable. Next, they discuss the NBA’s new lottery odds/anti-tanking framework (3-2-1 balls, flattened odds, restrictions on consecutive No. 1 picks, and limits on top-five streaks), claiming it reduces incentives to tank and protects players from teams benching them for draft positioning. They then speculate the Heat could pivot to Kawhi Leonard or Ja Morant if Giannis doesn’t sign, with Kawhi framed as a culture fit but limited by knee/practice availability. They also cover the Wings beating the Aces in a thriller, highlighting Paige Bueckers (20), A’Z Fudd (22), and Jessica Shepard’s 22 points/20 rebounds/10 assists. Finally, they react to Haley Van Lith being waived by the Connecticut Suns after being cut by the Chicago Sky, claiming it makes “zero sense” given her production.

3:19Shannon Sharpe:Mitchell Robinson, guys, the Knicks got some bad news. Mitchell Robinson is out with a broken pinky finger. Sean's report, no timetable on his return. Joe, how bad will this impact the Knicks? Man, what was he doing, huh? I think he brought the shot or something. In practice. Man, that's a finger. Your game is predicated off energy and effort. Energy and effort. Shot blocking. It ain't like hell, y 'all. They throw him the ball and he get, you know, go get us a bucket. That man, you better take that damn finger up and get ready to go.
3:57Hey, all you gotta do is just take these two, huh, Joe? Take these two together, Joe. Which finger was it, did it say? The pinky.
4:05Shannon Sharpe:You said, you mean which hand was it? You say he broke his finger, right? He broke his pinky. His pinky on what hand, yeah? That he had it, that he was saying. Hey, it don't matter, Joe. Just tape these two together right here, and let's go. Well, it wasn't like he was shooting anyway. Hey, Damian Woody said, I'm going to need some basketball dudes to help me understand why Mitchell Robinson missing time with a broken pinky. I broke my hand in training camp, had surgery, and had the whole damn hand in the cast and didn't miss a game. Hell, and he still got time, man. The finals will start to the fifth.
4:39Shannon Sharpe:Hell, he got plenty of time. Hey, Joe, we know y 'all the softest ones, Joe. I mean, come on now. Stop that. Oh, come on. Don't start. Don't start. Don't start. Joe Ocho, how many times we done play with dislocated fingers and like Joe Ocho say, take the fave together or get a split? Yeah, that's it. And he's a defensive player anyway. And when he goes to the line, he gonna miss anyway, so we not counting on him making no shots. He ain't gonna do no but don't. Or free throw. Unless it's so bad to where he really needs surgery or something. Nah. I don't know. Wait, Sergio gonna have to wait till after game six.
5:20Shannon Sharpe:All day Sergio is his right hand. But like, man, he ain't shootin' no shots anyway. He gettin' dunks and putbacks, and he rebounded. It's gonna be hard to play his ass, cause it's gonna be Hacker Robinson too. Oh yeah, they gonna buy him. He damn sure ain't gonna make no free throws now.
5:44Shannon Sharpe:Joe, he was shooting 15 % to begin with, so now he's going to shoot 10. Damn. Oh, that's bad. Hey, Joe, why he can go to a free throw coach in the offseason, Joe? Man, that just comes from putting in a – you got to put the work here, Ocho. Damn, a free throw coach. Maybe his hand's too big for the ball. Nah, hell no. Maybe he's too big for the ball, huh? Joe? You got – hey, anything is repetition, bro. Yep. Joe has to practice, bro. Make 100 free throws. Before practice, make 100 after. Boy, that man will be there the whole year. Well, that's what it's going to take. Joe talking about making 100 free throws.
6:22Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, yeah. NBA passes anti-tanking rules. 3-2-1 draft lottery system. Teams, 4 through 10, get three lottery balls. Both bottom three teams get two lottery balls. Playing teams get one to two lottery balls. 16 teams in the lottery with flattened odds, previously 14. Teams cannot pick number one in consecutive years. No top five picks in three consecutive years. The worst teams now have just a 5.4 % chance to get the number one pick. The team with three balls have an 8.1 % chance at the number one pick. The three worst teams are guaranteed to pick no lower than 12. Other lottery teams can fall as far as number 16.
7:14Shannon Sharpe:Joe Ocho, do you like this? Yeah, yeah. Hey, they trying to take away this tanking, bro. It's killing the game. You know, when you get teams midway through the season who feel like they got nothing to play for. Yeah. And, okay, boom. For instance, look at Washington. They went and traded for 80 in trade. I'm talking about they ain't even played none this season. You know what I mean? They say, hey, man, we got to tighten this ship up, bro. Because, look, if you don't, the tanking will continue and teams will continue to do whatever they can to try and get a top three pick. You know what I mean?
7:54Shannon Sharpe:I'm glad they implemented all this in, bro. We got to do that change. Didn't the Cavaliers get three consecutive? they got Kyrie, Anthony Bennett, and Andrew Wiggins. Yeah. Back to back to back. Yeah. I like that. The funny thing about it too long, it's crazy. I had this with a conversation with us earlier when we talked about the tanking rule. Obviously, soccer and soccer and Joe, you know, if you don't play well, if you're playing at the bottom of the league, you get relegated, you know, to a lower tier. A lower division. But obviously we opposed the question to Chris Paul about what do you think about the tank in basketball?
8:34And is there anything that we can do to teams and penalize them? Obviously, there's no regulation because there's nowhere for NBA teams to go. And obviously he had a really great answer and said they need to be penalized because the players that are on the team have to suffer. They have to suffer not being able to get the numbers they want to and do some of the things and being able to contribute to helping that team win. where they're stifled and really have no say-so, you know, when a team decides to tank.
9:02Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, because think about it. Look at it like this. If we all on the same team, and they talking about we tanking, and it's on contract year, it's on contract year, he like, damn, this day I'm tanking. I'm trying to get my damn numbers. Yeah, it affects you, yeah. You know what I'm saying? Hey, I got a question, though. And to quit your ass on the bench or trade you. There you go. Hey, Joe, I'm glad you said that, Joe. They're my T. Louie Cleaver. Yeah. Because they wanted T. Lou to tank. T. Lou said, man, I'm trying to win. You got to go. T. Lou ain't about no tanking. Hell no. I could have told him that.
9:35Right. Hold on, Uncle Joe. Hey, if you're on a team, right? Yes. They know and they understand that you're in a contract here, and in order to get your numbers, you have to play well. Do they take that into account if you're still going to be on that team and still pay you anyway because they decided to tank?
9:53Shannon Sharpe:Hell no. Hell no. I mean, it's like the expression, Joe, you know, I mean, Ocho, you know, sometimes how you might finish. Let's just say we got the division. We got the thing sold up. We got the number one seed and we bent you and you two catches or you 20 yards. Yeah. They might go ahead and give you that money because you would have got it. Yeah. Because I would be raising hell. Like, bro, you bench me and I'm two catches and 40 yards away from a million dollars. Yeah. No, I got to get that. Yeah. But hey, if y 'all don't give me that money, I'm dressing up. Hey, with a situation like that, because I think we've talked about it before.
10:31Shannon Sharpe:I know both of y 'all have probably been in those situations to where, you know, you probably had incentives that you were trying to meet at the end of the season. Do you talk to your quarterback about that? Like, man, I need four catches. I need 60 yards a day. Joe, had I, you know, hey, I'd have four 1 ,000-yard seasons. I didn't. But I didn't really, I was never, I'd never really like gotten to the quarterback area, the coordinator, trying to throw the ball. Bro, y 'all know what I can do. I'm the best on the team. Give me the damn ball. And we lost that game. Coach, we was up 30 to 13. We was up 30 to 13 at the half.
11:13Shannon Sharpe:We ended up losing the overtime 33 to 30. I didn't catch another pass. Go look up, go look up 1993, the last game of the season. See how many passes I caught at the half. I think I had fixed for a buck 15 and two tubs and then catch another pass, and we end up blowing a 17-point lead. Damn, how that happened? That's what I don't understand. You know what I mean? It's like when you see a guy got it going, you know what I mean? Like, damn, hey, every time we throwing the ball, he getting out of there. He making something happen. He acting it up. That was my homeboy burning him. Eddie Anderson, he went to the Valley.
11:49Shannon Sharpe:I caught a seven route. He was chasing my head to ball back like this here. He reached for it. I took it. Gone in the end though. Chad, what I have? 1993, last game of the season, Oakland Raiders, Denver Broncos. This is Martha Stewart from the Martha Stewart Podcast. Ever wonder how to make hosting look effortless? Online nationally or check out their 20 campuses across six states. Start when you're ready and get the support you need. Visit rasmussen.edu. Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, Nick? Huge news. We created our own podcast called Hey Jonas.
13:26We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. Yeah, a pretty wide range of podcasts. We're starting a trend. But this one's extra special. So how did we actually come up with the name Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. And we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers. This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas.
14:01And then I wrote down on my little notepad, hey, Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. On Humor Me with Robert Smigel and friends, we help make you funnier. On this episode, my guests Bob Odenkirk and Kids in the Halls, Bruce McCullough, try and help the Kazoo Kid and Tayzan Day be famous again. What if there's an alternate universe show where you guys are incredibly popular? Well, and they could travel up the land doing meet and greets.
14:38They're constantly needed at malls. Listen to Humor Me with Robert Smigel and friends on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm CJ Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luka and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luka and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
15:12I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reed. He has to guard Julius Randle. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on a night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
15:31Shannon Sharpe:Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers while he got the ball. Like, after you go through a training camp with that Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, Joe, you know back then when you played the Raiders, they're going to be right in your face all the time. Yeah. You knew exactly what's coming. Right in your face all game long. All you got to do is get open.
16:08Shannon Sharpe:Cooked them so bad, they went and paid Albert Lewis top, top, top dollar money because he's the only one at that point in time that was giving me a problem. I was blitzing everybody. It didn't matter. Your first corner, your best safety, your best linebacker, nobody was doing nothing with 84 back then. I had to work a little harder, but I gave him that work too. Yeah, yeah. I gave him that work too.
16:37Shannon Sharpe:I think I dropped 10 for a buck 42 on him. Little something, little something, little something on Monday night on your little spot. Yeah, yeah. Monday night? Oh, hey, the Monday night game, a guy trying to show their ass like they mad. Oh yeah, cause I knew everybody watching. Hey, who called your games? You had Madden, Unc? I did. Ooh, that was good. Actually, at that time, Madden was on Fox. Okay. Al Michaels and Dan Deardorff was Monday night. I think Boomer Sison was on Monday night also. But at that point in time, yeah, Summerall, rest their soul, Pat Summerall and John Madden, they were Fox.
17:26Yeah.
17:28Shannon Sharpe:I like Boomer. Oh, you like Boomer Saza? Yeah, yeah. Hey, he be having some dope sins. That be the thing for me. Yeah, Boomer nice. You know, I like Tony Romo. You like Romo? I like Romo simply for the fact that he's played the game so well and studied it so much, obviously playing quarterback. I like how he calls out the plays and tell you what's going to happen before it's happening. 99.9 % of the time, he's always right because he's seen it before. And I'm not just talking about the Cowboys game. I'm just talking about games he's calling in general. Yeah. It's funny. It's funny watching him.
18:03Some people say they don't even like Romo. I don't know why.
18:07Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, we had Dick Enberg called a lot of my games because he was on NBC at the time. And the AFC package was on NBC at the time. But everybody gave it up. NBC had the AFC package. They gave it up. CBS got it back. CBS had the NFC package. They gave it up. That's how Fox came in and got it because like, you know, back up saying Fox, Fox, guess what Fox had? Martin, the Simpson, In Living Color and Fox News. Hey boy, In Living Color back then, huh? Was sick. Oh my goodness. Boy, hey, you run to see it. In Living Color. That's it. That's it. You watch In Living Color, Joe? Yeah, yeah. Come on, man.
18:53My favorite, Firebill Marshall. Yeah. Firebill Marshall. Yeah. Yeah, play Marshall.
18:59Shannon Sharpe:Oh my goodness. Think about all the comedians that came out of that. Yeah. David Allen Greer, Tommy Davidson. Jamie Foxx. Jamie Foxx. Jim Carrey. Jim Carrey. You got Damon Wayans, Sean. All that. Kenan did comedy early, but he had really, by that time he had turned into a writer. He was doing more writing than actually doing standup. but think about all the guys that came up out of there yep hey what's the one on two snaps two snaps that was Damon Williams and David Allen Greer hey hey hey that damn homie don't play that homie don't play that hey hey can I smash it so you want me so you want me to fall down and hurt myself to your amusement.
19:55Shannon Sharpe:Homie don't play that.
19:59Shannon Sharpe:Homie, homie, can I smash this pie in your face? So you oughta humiliate me in front of all these people. He take the pie and hit him in his face. Homie don't play that. Hey, remember the Jamaicans? The Jamaicans? Hey, they had all the jobs? Yeah. Oh man. Hey, they don't make shows like that no more. We used to have some good shows coming up the white. No, no, no, no. We done got too conscious. That stuff that Martin used to do with Mr. McAfee when he had that big old boot. Come here, boy. Come here. McAfee. What you want, Mr. McAfee? Come here, boy. That was classic TV back then. You can't, like I said, in the 70s, Joe, they used to say the N-word with the E-R.
20:47Yeah. Really?
20:48Shannon Sharpe:No G8. It was E-R. The sitcoms, you go back and look at Archie Ball and the family, and you look at the Jeffersons, and you look at some of those sitcoms, and it's like, but you didn't think about it back then. It didn't even dawn on me that it was like, oh, okay, okay. And now you're like, golly, man, look how they talk. They made fun of it. It wasn't nothing off limits. If you had a disability, whatever, they made fun of you. Yeah. I was like, oh my God. Hey Joe, you ever seen All In The Family? All In The Family, they don't sound familiar, Ojo. With Archie Bunker. With Archie Bunker. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
21:32Hey, boy.

21:34Shannon Sharpe:He spawned a lot of shows. I mean, you think about all those shows. Mod came after that. Hey, you remember Mod? He had branched out to the Golden Girls, the Jeffersons. There are a lot of shows that came from that. Oh, Golden Girls. Rob Reiner, rest his soul, who tragically lost his life, his son killed him. He was meathead. That was his son-in-law. Damn. Yeah, he became a great writer. He wrote When Harry Met Sally. I think he wrote A Few Good Men also. Hey, that was a phenomenal, phenomenal, well-written movie, boy. A Few Good Men? Oh, my goodness. Yeah. Hey, recite that thing one time. I'll recite that thing one time.
22:19Joe ain't ready. See, Joe ain't ready for that. Hey, show Joe. Hit Joe. Hey, wait, why? Hey, he finna hit it Denzel Washington. He wrecked it.
22:26Shannon Sharpe:Okay. Hey, look, he out there to portier tonight too. Y 'all want that portier? Hit that thing. Hit that thing. He said, you want answers? I think I'm entitled to them. You want answers. I want the truth. You can't handle the truth. Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lieutenant Weinberg? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You reaped for Santiago. You cursed the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. Santiago's death while tragic probably saved lives.
23:00Shannon Sharpe:My appearance, grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saved lives. You don't want the truth cut deep down in places at parties you don't talk about. You want me on that wall. You need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words of a backbone of a lifetime spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I haven't the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of freedom that I provide and then question the matter in which I provided. I'd rather you said thank you and went on your way or pick a weapon up at standard post.
23:32Shannon Sharpe:Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to. Did you order the code red? I did my job. Did you order the code red? You're damn right I did.
23:46Shannon Sharpe:Hey, boy, you got it down packed, don't you, man? Let's go. You know how many times I went to see that in the movie? I probably saw that movie 50 times in the movie. Hey, in that scene, that scene right there in that courtroom, one of the best ever. One of the best scenes ever.
24:07Shannon Sharpe:Hey, hey, hey, hey, I see somebody in the chat said, Family Matters. Oh, yeah. That's a good one. That's a good one. Ooh, that Family Matters with Urkel? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey, it should be some good shows, bro, back in the day. That's absolutely good. Really good. Hey, Joe, you remember Small Wonder? Yeah, I remember Small Wonder. Hey, remember Punky Brewster? Yeah, you remember Full House? Oh, yeah, I remember Full House, man, with the twins. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey, hey, hey. I used to watch all that, bro. Yeah, hey, I bet you remember Frazzled Rock? Fraggle Rock.
24:41Fraggle Rock, conjunction, junction, what's your function? Hey, what about Alf? You used to watch Alf? Oh, yeah. Hey, Willie.
24:54Hey, matter of fact, hi, baby. My daughter, Kennedy, Kennedy's watching. She has school tomorrow. I know school is almost over and out for the summer, but there's no reason you should be up this time of night. Daddy love you. Okay, now go to bed.
25:07Shannon Sharpe:whoever saw the movie uh malice malice with alec baldwin and nicole kidman you saw it i ain't see that i ain't seen no when he had the god complex oh i gotta i gotta catch i gotta check that out it was good like i have an md from harvard i am board certified in cardiothoracic medicine and trauma surgery i received seven times citation from different no different hello i received seven different citation from new england medical boards and i'm never ever sick at sea. So you ask when someone goes into that chapel and they fall on their knees that their wife doesn't miscarry, that their daughter doesn't bleed to death, or their mother doesn't suffer post-operative shock.
25:46Shannon Sharpe:Who do you think they're praying to? When you go to church and you read your Bible, Dennis, and with a little luck, you might win the annual raffle. But if you're looking for God, he was in the operating room number two on November 17th and he doesn't like to be second guess. So you ask if I have a God complex, I am God. I show it's over.
26:14Shannon Sharpe:That boy good. That boy be locked in with the movie. That boy good. Yeah, yeah. Hey. What we talking about, man? But I'm saying I used to go to movies all the time. I like to go to movies and if something like that right there, I'm going back again. I will go back again and I will go back again. And then I'm gonna learn that part. Yeah. I'm good. But that Jack? Hey, Jack was special, boy. Jack was special. No, he was, hey, a few good men, as good as it gets. Yeah. Have you seen what Greg Kinnear in As Good As It Gets? Yeah. He was in another movie. Obviously, he was in the first Joker, first Batman.
26:59Shannon Sharpe:What was that other? Oh. Here's Johnny. Shiny. Yeah. Yeah. He was hitting that dope, coming there, here's Johnny. Hey, I know you saw Glory, Joe. You saw Glory? Yeah, yeah, I seen Glory. Glory, Denzel, Morgan Freeman. Yeah. Some really, really good scenes in Glory. Daniel Day-Lewis, in There Will Be Blood. There Will Be Blood. He drank the milkshake. Clack, clack, that scene in that little bowling alley? Yeah, he, uh. Man, that's my favorite actor, man. I wish I could meet Daniel Day-Lewis, man. Man, that joke. Hey, Jack, when he played that first Batman, he get that newspaper, he looks up. Winged fiend terrorized the city.
27:49Shannon Sharpe:Way they get a load of me. I did on the sideline. I said, NFL fields, they came. I just scored a touchdown on somebody. I forget who I scored a touchdown on. And I said, his brother sets NFL record. where they get a load of me. Ever wonder how to make hosting look effortless? Here's a secret. We have some big news.
29:51What's the news, Nick? Huge news. We created our own podcast called Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. Yeah, a pretty wide range of podcasts. We're starting a trend. But this one's extra special. So how did we actually come up with the name Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band. before Jonas Brothers. This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this.
30:27We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast where people could call in and say, Hey Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. On Humor Me with Robert Smigel and friends, We help make you funnier. On this episode, my guests, Bob Odenkirk and Kids in the Halls, Bruce McCullough, try and help the Kazoo Kid and Tazan Day be famous again.
30:59What if there's an alternate universe show where you guys are incredibly popular? Well, and they could travel up the land doing meet and greets. They're constantly needed at malls. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luka and Austin Reeves. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
31:34And he knows, without Luka and Austin Reeves, I gotta manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's gonna be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reed. He has to guard Julius Randle. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on a night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history, too.
32:01Shannon Sharpe:Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers while he got the ball. Like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. According to Ira Widerman, the Miami Heat could pivot to Kawhi Leonard or Ja Morant if they lose in the Giannis sweepstakes. Joe, would you rather have Giannis or would you rather have Kawhi or Ja in Miami? Shit, I'm going Kawhi, man.
32:40Shannon Sharpe:Kawhi just coming off, I think, statistically his best season. And like we always talk about, bro, the heat culture and how Pat Riley is, I think they'll have him right down there. He going to be able to practice all that, Joe? Yeah, yeah, yeah. He ain't going to have no damn choice. Well, he doesn't have to leave Kawhi alone. What'd you say? Hey, Ocho, Joe, it is hard. That man has not been on a regular practice schedule since 2018. Oh. He going to have to get on when he come to Miami. I'm just saying, Joe. Do you know, Joe, think about it, Joe. You got, think about it. You own your schedule.
33:21Shannon Sharpe:You've been on your own schedule since 2018. You was on your schedule in Toronto. You've been on your schedule at the Clippers. And to go, after you've gotten Kawhi's probably, what, 33, 34 years of age. Joe, I would believe you. If you say the man 26, 27, I say, okay. But, Joe, I don't know, Joe. Man, they got some dogs over there. Great weather. You hear me? Great weather. Yes. Great environment. I can see him, you know, being ready, mentally prepared, you know, to come in and really do whatever he can to help their team get over the hump. I think Kawhi is a hell of a pickup if you ask me. He is, Joe.
34:11but
34:14Shannon Sharpe:Joe you know the schedule Uncle Dennis Uncle Dennis was telling teams what it's gonna be you know you heard you was in the league Uncle Dennis ain't that's over with you come to Miami Uncle Dennis mapped it out you know what it's gonna be all this under the table stuff that y 'all got going down there in LA that ain't happening out here in Miami, man. I'll just let you know. Yeah, they ain't going. They ain't going. Listen, if we want to, if Pat Riley understands, right, Uncle Joe, if we want to be taken seriously as far as competing in the East, forget coming out the East. Just competing in the East in general, things are going to have to change.
34:59And if things have to change, it has to start at top. We're going to need Pat Riley, you know, to have a conversation with Mickey Arison and tell Pat, you've got to loosen up the reins a little bit. You've got to evolve. The game has changed. You know, you can't be trying to coach and do things with an iron fist the way it worked in the 80s and the 90s. It's not going to work in today's era and the type of players that you're getting. In order for us to attract the kind of players we want to, to change the culture, which has been the winning culture before, but to get back to that winning culture and those winning ways, we're going to have to get players to come here, like the Kawhis, like the Jamarans or the Giannis.
35:35We don't want people second-guessing themselves about coming to one of the greatest cities to actually play in and having people say no because of Pat Riley. Joe, let me ask you a question.
35:47Shannon Sharpe:You want Kawhi for 60-65 games or you want him for 30-45 games? Because you're making practice, you know what you're going to get. Them knees can't take it. We're going to do a thorough investigation on his body, make sure he's right. but we need his ass to they gonna need his ass to practice you know what I mean he can make that 65 game threshold he can do it he can do it I think he already look look even when you look at him he already in elite shape I mean he's a guy who really take care he look like he really take care of his body bro so but he got the knees over 55 his knees might be worse than mine well they got a nice conditioning program over there to keep him strong throughout the season, make sure he good.
36:33Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Yeah. You can't go over there playing no damn 30, 35 games a season now. Come on. I think it means... I've just tried to be honest with you, Joe. I've just tried to get you to temper your expectations. Yeah. Nah, bro. But, hey, look. I mean, I want to see Jai go somewhere else. I wouldn't mind seeing Jai in Miami. But, damn. They ain't going to be able to get both of them. Should me? And my thing is, Joe. At this point, and the Clippers going to look back like, hold on. I don't know how the Clippers let him go because he's the only superstar that you got, and you just built a$2 billion arena.
37:16Shannon Sharpe:So how do you let him go? Who they going to come see? They got the number five pick in this draft. I think the Clippers just going to really – They got number five pick, LeBron James. Is that number five pick Cooper Flagg? Is that number five pick Michael Jordan? It's got to be somebody they're going to want to see, Joe. Do you know? He better be Shaq. He Shaq? If the number five pick, you're going to be Shaq. Whoever the number five pick is is not going to fill out the arena every night they play at home. No. And I'm not saying it in a disrespectful way. Some people will come see him. I'm talking about filling the arena every single night.
37:57This is the problem you have.
38:00Shannon Sharpe:If you keep Kawhi too damn long, you ain't going to be able to get rid of him. You know, he still got some great value in him right now that I think some teams could use, and he can help him, you know, get to the finals, if not win a title. But you keep him too much longer, Uncle Ocho here. You're going to be stuck like Chuck. It's over with. Yeah. I still want to put some butts in seats, Joe. Well, hey, you're going to have to get it through the draft and build up over the next couple years. I'm sorry. I don't know what to tell you. Because at the end of the day, as much as I love those guards, you know who they're coming to see in San Antonio, Joe.
38:40Shannon Sharpe:Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. And I think those guards are phenomenal. And that's not – and respectfully, as I say this, Castle is phenomenal. Dylan Harper is going to be great. I like Vassell. I like everything about him. But they come in to see the alien. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely right. You go to the circus, there's only a few animals you want to see. I mean, when you go to the zoo, what you going to see? I'm going to see lions. Lions, tigers, gorillas, snakes. Now, if I happen to walk by and see a polar bear, that's fine. If I see the giraffe or I see the zebras, that's cool too. Yeah. But you know what you're going to see, and you go see those first.
39:23Shannon Sharpe:In fact. I'ma go, where are the elephants at? Excuse me, sir, where are the elephants at? Hey, and then you go in. I'ma go see the lions. Normally the time that I go, them lazy mofos sleeping. Yeah, I was gonna say that. You better hope the lions out. Cause they sleep, what, 23 hours, Leo? Hey, hey. They so lazy. They lazy. Hey, they sleeping. I'ma go see, hey, I'ma go see the silverbacks. Yeah. Hey, you know, hey, I got a little time. I might go inside the enclosure and see the hippos, see a rhinoceros here or there, and then I'm gonna go see the snakes. Try to catch them at feeding time. That's it.
40:06Shannon Sharpe:That's why I mean, hey, if you're lucky enough, I think we've had to ship them all back. You go see the pandas. The kids love to see the pandas. They get the little stuffed animals that are pandas. You get to go see the pandas like, oh, they're cute and cuddly. They tear your ass up, but then people don't realize they're just cute and cuddly, they're black and white. But don't let that black and white fool you. and 10 your ass up. Yeah, yeah. Hey, my little one, my little one ain't before, boy. He love them gorillas, boy. The silverback. He love them gorillas. Boy, you see them jokers? I'm talking about all muscle.
40:36Shannon Sharpe:I'm talking about 400 pounds on all muscle. 400 pounds, Ocho Joe, with a 2 ,000-pound bench. Damn. And don't forget, man, not too long ago, there was dialogue going on about 100 people versus one gorilla. Yeah. I tell you what, I want to be the 101. So hopefully 99 has wounded and beat him down so much. But I'm not in the first 10 or 15. Yeah, no. Because the first 10, y 'all done. You're going to catch him. You're here. You see, they bite. And with a bite force of probably 1 ,000 pounds of pressure, they bite your arm clean off. Bite. They'll snatch your arm clean off. Yes, and beat the next man over the head with it.
41:25Shannon Sharpe:so I want no part of it
41:30that was a good time with them people saying they could take on the gorilla boy that was a good time yeah good luck with that
41:39Shannon Sharpe:the wings beat the defending champ Aces Paige Beckers AZ Fudd both went off rookie AZ Fudd started scored 22 points Paige Beckers 20 points Jessica Shepard she had 22 points, a career-high 20 rebounds, and 10 assists. Joe, we talked about this. We saw them the other night against the Liberty. They played really well. They had that three-guard lineup. They had AZ did not start, but she came in and she had 17 in the third quarter, and she ended up with 24. Paige had 24. They still have a phenomenal player in Enrique Ogumbawale, but a 2020? 20? Who had a 20-20 hunk I'm looking for? Jessica Shepard.
42:23Shannon Sharpe:She had 22 points. A career-high 20 rebounds, 10 assists. So again, they had three guys three young ladies. They had three women with 20-plus points.
42:37Shannon Sharpe:I mean, and you know, Paige Beckers, she was the number one overall pick two years ago. A.Z. Fudd was the number one overall draft pick this year. Hey, they're exciting to watch. They can get the ball up and down. They can shoot to three. They got three guys that can handle the ball. I told you, I went and watched them play against the Dream. They didn't have a good out, and they got drugged against the Atlanta Dream. They took them out. But ever since then, I've been keeping up, and they've been BTA. Yeah, they ain't been playing. They ain't been playing. You know, it takes a little while for them to kind of figure them things out.
43:16Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, They made it tough. Kennedy Carter's still playing unbelievable. She's playing unbelievable basketball. Six of 11 tonight. Two of four from the three, six of 11 from the floor. Yeah, yeah. Jackie Young and Asia, they kind of – Jackie Young scored 15, Chelsea. They shot 44%. They got beat on the glass. But you know the aces, bro, they going to pick it up. They going to be there. They beat them. They beat them, Joe. Reek ain't scored at one point. You know what? Page was 9 of 15. Page was 8 of 18. Jessica Shepard, 8 of 13. I wonder. It seemed like when I watched them play the Dallas Wings, it's like Abumake.
44:05Shannon Sharpe:That's her name. That's how you say it? Yeah. She don't really get the – Abumawale. Yeah, she don't really get the looks that she normally been getting and i know it's because of paige and in the uh yeah az food but she can she can go man she got it oh yeah she could oh yes i see i've seen her play um who was she with when i went to watch the atlanta dream and she was on the other team she had to be with dallas hey when she was with dallas she said i came on the show that night um she was the first person i mentioned well she She was getting to it, Joe. She moved like a dude out there. And she was getting to it.
44:44Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. And they got Odyssey Sims who can handle the ball, who's the point guard, the national championship, a national championship team at Baylor with Kim Mulkey. And Goomba Wally, she can go. Yeah. But it's going to take them a while to get their little rhythm back. They still got a little, what you call them. They'll pick it up. Becky will be like, hey, look here. What y 'all doing? Right. Y 'all coming here just going through the motion. Y 'all ain't trying to win. Y 'all ain't trying to repeat. Y 'all seem to be really, really complacent. Y 'all done got this big money. Oh, so I see what it is now.
45:25Shannon Sharpe:Y 'all done got these million-dollar contracts. Y 'all ain't hungry no more. There you go. Huh. There you go. Hey, hey. Okay. Yeah. You see? This is what they tried to say. This is why they tried to suppress you for so long. You guys done got fat. Like them old people, you say, boy, you done got on that hog, huh? Yeah. You ain't hungry no more. Yeah. Oh, okay. Yeah. Okay. They're going to have to get it together. They're going to have to get it together. Y 'all need to fix it. Y 'all need to fix it. Damn.
46:08Shannon Sharpe:so but congratulations to the Dallas Wings Jessica Shepard 22 points 20 rebounds 26 that's a hell of a that is a hell of a triple double for a lady yeah yeah that is crazy crazy let's see what uh Beckers at 20 Fudd had 22 I mean I mean, all they do is, UConn, all they do is produce number ones. Ooh. Boy, they so sick with it. Sarah Strong's going to be a number one when she comes out. Damn. Fudd was number one. Beckers was number one. Tina Charles was number one. Maya Moore was number one. Stewie was number one. Taurasi was number one. Was Sue Bird number one or was she number two? I don't know.
46:56Shannon Sharpe:I know she was up there though.
47:01Shannon Sharpe:Damn. No, let that sink in. Sue Bird, Taurasi, Charles, Moore, Stewie, Beckers, Fudd. No, he got a hell of a system now. He producing. He producing them out of there.
47:23Shannon Sharpe:Teach one, teach one. former WNBA first round pick Haley Van Litt has been waived by the Connecticut Suns. Van Litt only played nine games for the Sun but she was averaging 8.1 shooting 49 % from the floor and she was shooting like 40 something percent from the three point line playing only 17 minutes. This is less than a month after she was waived by the Chicago Sky. Joe. And she got some game bro. Little lefty. She nice. Yeah. I'm like what's really going on? Is she injured? No, she ain't injured. Is she coming off any type of injury, especially for someone? Ocho, she done been cut by two teams over the past two months.
48:03Yes. Something is happening. Something is happening. Something internally that we don't know about. And the only thing I can think about, to get cut, to be drafted as high as you were, and to get cut by two teams in a couple of months, it got to be something.
48:17Shannon Sharpe:I can see if she was just stiff or something and couldn't play. This girl can play. She's got to be a rotational player. With those kind of numbers, Joe, in 17 minutes, she gives you eight points shooting 49 % from the floor. I think she's shooting 40-plus percent from the three. And you mean to tell me the people that you have on your roster are that much better than her that you can't find no playing time? That's hard to believe, bro. Something ain't right. Because she's nice. I'm talking about for real. She can play, bro. Yeah, she can. And a guy tweeted at this point, I have to wonder there's some level of bias of politics involved in WNBA teams.
48:56Shannon Sharpe:Haley Van lift is a legitimate rotational guard who can contribute and compete and bring actual fan interest to the floor in a league that struggles times with offensively offensive consistency and much what must watch moments. It makes zero sense to move on from a player who brings visibility, energy, and engagement. Like I said, she's averaging one point a game. I get you, but she's averaging eight points a game. So basically, she's going like a point every two minutes. Yeah. I don't know, man. You know, when you're behind the scenes, you don't really know what's going on, whether it's an attitude, whatever it is.
49:30Shannon Sharpe:But that just don't make no sense to me, bro. Zero. Zero sense. Paramount Plus is now the home of all your BET favorites. What? Yes.
