0:49Shannon Sharpe:Luka Dodgit put up 60 points tonight. Tied the second most points, and Luka had scored in a game behind the 73 that he had against Atlanta, matching the 60-point. Remember, he had a 60-point, I think he had a 60-point triple-double. Wasn't that against the Knicks? He had a 60-20 trip-dub where he missed on purpose. He reached a 50-point plateau for the second time in his last five games, and he did so on the second night of the back-to-back. LeBron finished with 19 points, 15 rebounds, 10 assists, and he tied Hall of Famer Robert Perry, chief, for the most games played. Excuse me. At 1 ,611. Luka played 38 minutes.

1:35Shannon Sharpe:He had 60 points on 18 of 30 shooting. 9 of 17 from the three-point line. He was 15 of 19 from the foul line. So he had 60 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists. LeBron had 19, 15, and 10. Marcus Smart had 13 points. Austin Reeves had 18 points. And they go on the road and win the eighth consecutive game. Now, people are going to try to dismiss them because when they beat the Knicks, oh, that was an aberration. They beat the Nuggets, that was an aberration. They beat the Wolves, that was an aberration. They beat the Houston on Monday and Wednesday. The Rockets aren't that good. Now they beat the Heat.

2:16Shannon Sharpe:You see what they try to do in order to invalidate what the Lakers are doing. Just say the team that they're beating aren't any good. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But if they were to beat the Lakers, because I remember they said, They can't do nothing with the Nuggets. Jokic got LeBron's number. They can't beat good teams. Now these teams, they're good teams and they're beating. Well, let's try to undervalue what the Lakers are doing by saying this team's not any good. Guys watching the Lakers tonight, Joe, what did you like about what you saw from Luka?

2:44Chad Johnson:I mean, his aggressiveness. You know, just being able to get to his spots, Uncan Ocho, whenever he get ready, no matter who's guarding him, it was nothing they can do, man. You get a guy rolling like that, bro, you shake his hand, great game. We going on to the next. But I like how LeBron kind of get in there and facilitate. Like, you know, he kind of reads the game. Like, he ain't taking a whole bulk of shots. He's been super efficient. And, you know, obviously he had a triple-double tonight. But I think him playing off Luka, he's kind of figured that out. They figured that out as a team. And you can kind of see because the chemistry kind of shows.

3:21Chad Johnson:It's resulting in the wins. Are they number three in the West now?

3:26Shannon Sharpe:They're three. They're two. I think they got like two up on fourth and two and a half on fifth. They're 45 and 25. So they got 12 games to play.

3:37Chad Johnson:Yeah, and I'm sure they want to finish the season stronger where they can have home court advantage in that first round for sure.

3:43Shannon Sharpe:Yes.

3:44Chad Johnson:You know what I mean? So, hey, man, they've been playing great ball. You know, we've been wondering if they can keep it up. I mean, they've been pretty consistent as of late.

3:53Shannon Sharpe:They have. LeBron didn't even take a three-pointer. He didn't even shoot the three. So he's been, and 15 rebounds. That's huge. Four of them on the offensive end. Ocho? Yeah? Your team, your heat, you like the heat. Yeah, hey, man, listen, I love my heat. I love my heat. I love what they did tonight. Bam had 28. Goddamn Tyler had 21. Larson had 11. But I'm not sure what Spoh was doing defensively, huh? I'm not sure what he was doing. Obviously, with Luka going off the way he's going off at some point, Hey, I need to meet him. I need to meet him at half court, Joe. In fact, I need to meet him when they inbound the ball.

4:33I want to put that pressure on him all the way down the court. They tried. Hey, man, Spoh let them boys play one-on-one down there all game.

4:41Chad Johnson:Hey, the problem is with the Lakers, if you double Luka, they know how to play on their backside so well that you got to give up something, Ocho. You giving up dunks, lobs, a wide-on-three. And they've been hot. They've been hot as of late. Yeah.

4:56Shannon Sharpe:Think about it. You got one of the best passers in NBA history. So if you double him, guess he's going to swing it to LeBron, he's going to swing it to Austin Reeves, and then they're going to catch it. You already compromised because you got a two-on-one on Luka because you made him give it up. Now somebody's going to attack the basket, and guess what? Lob to LeBron, lob to D.A., or a wide-open shot. It's just a matter of they knock it down to Marcus Smart or Rui. and they put you in a bind they put you in a bind

5:31Chad Johnson:they got a good thing going right now they got a good thing going they're playing really well and like I said look

5:37Shannon Sharpe:DA he only has 6 points tonight only played 29 minutes he was 3 of 5 from the floor he had 4 rebounds I can live with that plus 13 you notice what nobody been talking about since the league has been winning these past few games

5:53Chad Johnson:what's that nobody mentioned nothing about their defense

5:56Shannon Sharpe:No, they've been playing well. They've been doing a great job. The best player, they've been making him give it up. If you notice, they forced a lot of turnovers on KD. KD's not proficient at passing out of it. So they turned him over. He had to throw it out of bounds. Marcus Smart was taking it from him. They did a great job. So they're doing a great job. They've been doing a lot of zone, Joe.

6:17Chad Johnson:Yeah, they have.

6:18Shannon Sharpe:They're not getting caught in that one-on-one. Look, are you going to look at late in the game, Ocho?

6:23Chad Johnson:Yeah.

6:24Shannon Sharpe:Austin Reed gave up about four layups in a row.

6:27Chad Johnson:He gave up about four layups in a row. Hey, listen. Marcus Smart helped him, though, Unc. Yes. A lot of times what he does, Ocho, it may not show up on the stat sheet. You know what I mean? If he making shots, that's a plus. But defensively, the disruptiveness that he brings to the game, you know what I mean? He junks it up. He's a great defensive player, and he understands his role, and he's starring in his role, which is another reason why I think they've been playing great basketball late because he's taking the challenge on these dudes who's supposed to be like that. The KDs of the world, things like that.

7:01Chad Johnson:So he's taking that challenge, bro. He's making it tough on them. Yeah, he make it real ugly.

7:06Shannon Sharpe:The thing is, what concerns me about the Lakers, especially because playoff games, Joe, are close. Joe, they miss a lot of free throws.

7:15Chad Johnson:They do, bro.

7:17Shannon Sharpe:They miss a lot of free throws.

7:18Chad Johnson:They do.

7:19Shannon Sharpe:When the clock stops, you've got to put the ball in the basket when the clock stopped.

7:24Chad Johnson:And you miss a lot of free throws from your main guys.

7:28Shannon Sharpe:Yes.

7:29Chad Johnson:Luka, LeBron, like they... AR.

7:31Shannon Sharpe:AR was shooting 87%. He goes 6 or 10. So they missed... Between the two of them, they missed 11 free throws. They missed 10 of them.

7:44Chad Johnson:Yeah. They get the bulk of the shots. They got the ball in their hands at all times. They got to do better. Both of them got to do better, huh? They do.

7:52Shannon Sharpe:But look, I know people don't want to talk about it, but Luke is in the MVP discussion. How could he not be in the MVP discussion? Oh, he's in there. He's the third seed in the West. You say the West is the tougher conference. He's leading the league in scoring. In the last five games, he has two 50-point games, and he had another 40-point game, and he had a high 30-point game. So he's probably averaging probably 40 over this eight-game winning streak. And he was a rebound short. Remember the other night? He was a rebound short of a triple-double. In Chicago, we had 44, 12, and 8. He was two rebounds, I think, of a triple-double.

8:33Shannon Sharpe:I'm standing there. I'm getting that.

8:36Chad Johnson:Listen. Now, he balling. He definitely in discussion. He in discussion for sure.

8:40Shannon Sharpe:He's not going to win, but he's in the discussion. Yeah. But the mere fact, they don't even have him in the discussion, no joke. Oh, in general. I think Shea's going to win it, and I think deservedly so. Look, I think it's Shea. I think Luka. I think Wimby. I think Jokic. And I think JB. Jalen Brown.

8:58Chad Johnson:And you see what you call him. He out, man, for the Detroit Pistons. K. Cunningham collapsed lung.

Read the full transcript

9:04Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, collapsed lung. So it's going to probably hurt him because it's an experience that lung has to feel back, has to, you know, reinflate. And I think he can only miss like four more games to be.

9:17Chad Johnson:It's over. Yeah, because you're going to miss.

9:20Shannon Sharpe:So guess what? No All-NBA. Yeah. No MVP. Yeah. Yeah. And that hurts because guess what? That goes towards the max contract, Joe.

9:29Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah. You think for a player like that, they allow that to affect him? Well, if you – As great as he is, you don't mean they wouldn't give him no grace, understanding that he's a max player?

9:41Shannon Sharpe:That grace is$100 million, the extra$100 million.

9:43Chad Johnson:Yeah.

9:44Shannon Sharpe:That ain't an extra incentive for$25 ,000 or$100 ,000, though, Joe. that's an extra$100 million. I understand what you're meaning. I understand what you're meaning, but you still understand that, I mean, the team in general. Where you know they're giving out an extra$300 million. It ain't free. You understand the player that you're getting. It is, because they say you need to be an all-NBA selection two years after you signed the initial deal. I got you. I got you. And plus, that's going to be better. What are you going to do with Jalen Dern? He's going to say, well, hell, since y 'all gave him, put it in his contract, put it in mine.

10:15Shannon Sharpe:You see the slippery slope that you start? Yeah. Yeah, I got you. Man, look, I hate that they did it like this, but Adam Silver said, man, y 'all taking too many games off. We playing these Saturday and Sunday games, and y 'all missing, and people paying all this money for these tickets. Watch, yeah.

10:32Chad Johnson:I think they knew that a lot of these cats, especially the top cats, weren't going to be able to meet the game requirements. Right here? Yeah, because look, okay, Ocho, the game is played at such a fast pace. Now, if I'm telling you, if you're one of the top guys, you're running three, three and a half miles a game, and you're doing that every other day. And this is the fastest pace the game has ever been played. Why do you think all our top guys get hurt? Yeah. It's too much on their body, obviously.

11:05Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. They're playing at a pace like they did in the 80s. The games were routinely 140, 150, 153, 161. the game was up and down. Yeah. And then they said, well, that's too much. And then they let them start playing football. Right. And then they say, that's too much.

11:28Chad Johnson:Yeah, they just walking the ball up, throwing it in the paint, throwing it in the post. Yes. In the 90s, now it's just, the game is just, guys' games have developed and the game is at a high pace right now. Yeah.

11:42Shannon Sharpe:Man, guys, the game, I remember games, playoff games in 73-68. Yeah. Now you got guys scoring 80 points in one game by them damn self. And they'll play four quarters. They'll be in overtime. And the final score, Chicago 82, Knicks 78. Yeah. With overtime. So it's a different era now. I think the thing is these guys are more skilled. I'm not saying the top guys, but you got more guys that, okay, you still got the same amount of guys that's up here. But I think from this to here, you got more guys that can shoot the basketball, that can do more things than they could in the past.

12:27Chad Johnson:Absolutely. You're absolutely right. You're absolutely right.

12:30Shannon Sharpe:Some guys can shoot it now.

12:31Chad Johnson:Yeah. The game has evolved. It ain't just if you 6 '9", 6 '10", you get under that basket, shoot you a few jump hooks, do the George Mike and drill, Nah, we ain't doing nothing.

12:42Shannon Sharpe:You better be able to put that ball on the floor and be able to put it in the basket from 28. You hear me? Yeah, you better be able to shoot that thing. That's what makes Wimby so phenomenal. At 7 '4 and a half, 7 '5, he can put the ball on the floor.

12:59Chad Johnson:We can do more than that.

13:01Shannon Sharpe:Hey, he had a game-winning shot tonight. We're going to talk about that in a little bit. But he can shoot the three, and we already know what he is defensively. Yeah. The thing that concerns me, Joe, will he ever be enough to get enough games in that he'll be able to win these major awards, the Defensive Player of the Year, the MVPs? I mean, how many games does Wimby miss?

13:27Chad Johnson:It's going to be tough, huh?

13:29Shannon Sharpe:Hey, hey, hey, that – Joe, where them people at that say the Lakers are better off without LeBron? Y 'all still out there? Y 'all, yeah, Nate. The Lakers still better off without LeBron?

13:39Chad Johnson:They were tripping. They were tripping.

13:41Shannon Sharpe:I'm just curious. I'm just asking for a friend. My friend would ask him to say, man, I ain't got no platform like you. But ask the chat, are the Lakers still built off without LeBron?

13:52Chad Johnson:No, if they going to get this LeBron, this efficient.

13:57Shannon Sharpe:He can only miss three more. Well, he missed 15 right now, Joe. He can only miss three more ball games.

14:03Chad Johnson:Wimby?

14:04Shannon Sharpe:Yes.

14:05Chad Johnson:If they probably ain't got no more than, what, 12, 13 games left?

14:08Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. They probably got 15 on the high end.

14:11Chad Johnson:He going to finish them because if he finish, he'll probably win, what, defensive player of the year?

14:16Shannon Sharpe:He should.

14:17Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah. I'm sure he will.

14:19Shannon Sharpe:And, hell, Stephon Castle should be a team member, too. Boy.

14:32Shannon Sharpe:Marcus Marsh should be in there. I like the kid Dunn from the Clippers.

14:38Chad Johnson:You like Dunn?

14:39Shannon Sharpe:Defensively? Yeah, defensively, hell yeah. Cause he's taking the tough assignments. Bro, I mean think about it. Every night you getting booked, you getting Shea, or you guarding Luka. You know you gotta deal with Jalen Brown. You gotta deal with Brunson.

14:55Chad Johnson:Yeah.

14:56Shannon Sharpe:And you got Cade Cunningham. He don't get no break.

14:59Chad Johnson:Yeah, he don't. They gonna have Cason Wallace in there too though. He leading the league in steals. He's gonna be in there too.

15:09Shannon Sharpe:So I'm like, bro, can I get a night off? Right, right. You get Luka, then you get Shea, you get Castle, you get Brown, you get Brunson, you get Cade. I went, damn!

15:26Chad Johnson:It's your job, bro. Hey, you our little dog. Hey, sick him, get him, get him, get him.

15:32Shannon Sharpe:Oh, when Steph is healthy, you got Steph?

15:34Chad Johnson:Yeah. When Dane come back, you got Dane? You don't get no off nights on the West.

15:39Shannon Sharpe:Hell, Jamal Murray.

15:42Chad Johnson:Yeah, you don't get no off nights in the West, partner. You got to put your track shoes on, boy. Boy, you better bring your lunch pail every day. It's going to be tough.

15:50Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. That's not an easy assignment to draw because all those guys are buckets. Yeah. You have an off night. Somebody hit your ass for 40. Somebody hit you for 50. Somebody hit you for 35. five. I mean, you got people out there think, man, he can't, no, he can play. Those guys are just really good. Right. Great offense gonna be great defense.

16:17Chad Johnson:Yeah, you're absolutely right.

16:19Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Because there are some times that, hey, Luka was making shots tonight. Man, hey, if I'm mentioning some of them guys, I'm looking at Sparks like Sparks, what you want me to do? You see this man shooting his ball from? This man down here in high league will shoot the damn ball. You talking about getting up on him. Where you at, Uncle? You with? Hi, Leo.

16:39Man,

16:41Shannon Sharpe:I'll say what day. Hey, sometimes you got A.

16:46Chad Johnson:That's why, hey, dude get it going, bro. I'm telling you. Yes. First off, coming into the game, you need to already know, okay, look. That's why I say, like when I played against Cole, T-Mac, and all them, Uncle, Ocho, I made sure I got my rest at night, bro, because I needed all my energy. I'm telling you, if them jokers gonna have 30, 40, I gotta make sure I have about 30, 40 too. You hear me? Yeah. And I knew it was gonna be hard trying to stop them. So, man, listen, when you know who you playing, so you don't get embarrassed, you better get you some sleep.

17:22Shannon Sharpe:And come ready to go. We forgot about Ant-Man. You gotta deal with Ant-Man too. You know Ant-Man looking to drop 40 on you. Mm-hmm. Everybody that we mentioned can give you the easiest 40. Quick. And you mess around and slip, you might give you 50, 60.

17:37Chad Johnson:There you go, there you go. And now y 'all lost -

17:41Shannon Sharpe:You let Dame catch a rhythm? You let Luka catch a rhythm? It's over. It's the rap.

17:46Chad Johnson:It's over with. It's over. You got good rest before you had to see them boy, T-Mac and Kobe then, ma? Man, what? You gotta have some rest, Ojo, because you know they coming in, they mind is, because you could tell from the start how aggressive guys be, and they're playing in Atlanta. I don't know what it is, but a lot of cats like to play here in Atlanta. You know what I mean? I could tell by the energy. You know, I could feel it. You know what I mean? Yeah. Yeah.

18:13Shannon Sharpe:Ocho's the same. You know you got a televised game. Oh. You know people, hey, man, I got Ocho. Man, I got a pick on Ocho. Yeah, yeah. Mm-mm.

18:23Chad Johnson:Yeah.

18:24Shannon Sharpe:You not finna go. guys be looking they play good against the big guys they gonna be hey let your boy get that pro bowl vote you see what your boy did last week right you know oh you're not gonna get no pro bowl

18:36Chad Johnson:vote on me hey hey you help defense in the area when we playing when i'm playing against them dude if i'm guarding them ocho my help defense ain't about nothing you hear me i'm locked in on my man damn my bad i gave up a layup i just don't want to make the score That ain't my man. That ain't my man. I ain't finna look up at the end of the game, my man got 44 and I got 15.

19:02Shannon Sharpe:Right, right, right. Hey, double bump that. No, double bump what? Cause we in trouble.

19:08Chad Johnson:If you can't guard your man and I got to pay all the tickets, then we in trouble. Hell. We in trouble. I need you to be able to guard him. Hell nah.

19:20Shannon Sharpe:They be asking you to do unrealistic stuff. Oh, you want me to block DT by myself. He went without tackle him. What you think he gonna do to me?

19:33Shannon Sharpe:I'll help somebody, but don't give me, that ain't my responsibility. That's funny.

19:40Chad Johnson:Oh boy.

19:42Shannon Sharpe:But the leg are looking good. I gotta get to a game. I gotta find out what game they play.

19:46Chad Johnson:You ain't gonna do nothing.

19:47Shannon Sharpe:I'm gonna get out there.

19:49Chad Johnson:They ain't got but 10, 12 games.

19:51Shannon Sharpe:I know that. Hey, them playoff tickets. Oh, Lord.

19:54Chad Johnson:Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey,

19:55Shannon Sharpe:hey, hey, hey, hey, you going to a game? Man, hey, I'm about to cut this. Hey, Joe, I'll see you tomorrow, man. Man, this man, this man about to make me lose all my religion. Hell no.

20:14Man, nah, last week, we was out there, last week.

20:18Shannon Sharpe:we was out there two days and the lakers play i forgot that we had tuesday off and then when i talked about i remembered it they probably was playing but i i wouldn't even think i bet we had been traveling so much i wasn't even thinking about it and then i just thought about telling i said jordan man i could have went to the game tonight but i'm getting i'm gonna get out there I'm gonna get out there to a game. Hey, let me know where you going, Unc. I will not.

20:51Shannon Sharpe:Absolutely will not let you know where I'm going.

20:56Shannon Sharpe:Hey, me and Joe gonna be at one of them Hawks games.

20:59Chad Johnson:Hey, and you know the playoffs about to get ready to start too, Unc. Yeah, yeah. Hey, we steady climbing the ladder, so them boys, hey, hey boy, them Hawks gonna be something to see in the playoffs, they playing great ball. Yeah, I'll be there with y 'all. What? I'll be there with y 'all. Just, hey, listen. Hey. Just tell me when you going, I'll be there. The next time you see me partner, you better put your sets up, you hear me? You better put your, next time you see me, you better put your sets up, that's all I'll tell you. Hey, I'm gonna be right here on the phone waiting on you, Joe. Yeah.

21:31I'm right here on the phone.

21:32Chad Johnson:Yeah, okay, yeah.

21:36Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Yeah. What's the Lakers schedule? What's the Lego schedule?

21:43Chad Johnson:Oh, he flies you. You finna have surgery, man. Who? You.

21:48Shannon Sharpe:That's all right, I go out there with a crutch.

21:53Chad Johnson:You ain't gonna let them see you like that. Hey, where you going to surgery? I'm contemplating. Oh, so you're not going no more?

22:06Shannon Sharpe:Oh, Joe, I'm trying to postpone this thing, man. I ain't trying to be laid up like that. Hold on. You just said you only had to recover what? How long recovery? They're on the road to the 27th.

22:22Shannon Sharpe:I'm going to go see a guaranteed victory, so I'm going to go see April. That's in April, right?

22:36Shannon Sharpe:That's the last game of the regular season, 331? Okay. and they're rocking the team. Yeah. Okay. I see. I'm going to go see. I got to make sure. Because, boy, I would be pissed if I go out there and spend all that money LeBron ain't playing. LeBron and Luka ain't playing. I bet, hey, I bet have to walk out there on the court and get a take. Hey, that's why you wanted to stay a tight race

23:01Chad Johnson:so they can continue playing.

23:04Shannon Sharpe:Hey, you see, think about it. LeBron played in the back-to-back. Yeah. Yeah. He going to take a game off. Well, this would have been a time, but he's like, hey, I got to get my body ready. Luka played a little back-to-back. Think about it. What they did last night in Houston. Fly from Houston down to Miami. They take the thing dead, dead serious.

23:26Chad Johnson:They probably in Miami kicking it right about now. They got the day off tomorrow.

23:30Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Oh, yeah, because they play Orlando on, I think, Saturday.

23:34Chad Johnson:Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Brown probably got them big boy part of the night. They probably kicking it.

23:38Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, you're right.

23:39Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah. I already know what's going on.

23:44Shannon Sharpe:They don't do that for the football players, don't you? We get our ass up out of town as soon as they get in. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. Hit the shower. Hey. Hit the shower.

23:53Chad Johnson:Get dressed and get on the bus. Hey, hey. It's too many, y 'all. Yeah.

23:58Shannon Sharpe:From the time the game in, oh, they're about an hour. We're pulling up out of there. All that – hey, hey, we got to go. Hey, hey, wrap it up. We got to go. Hey, Unc. Hey, Joe. Hey, when they hit that horn, you know how you see your family after the game? Yeah, yeah, yeah. When the bus hit that horn. It's time to go. Time to go. Boy, they'll leave you. They will. Have your family bring you to the airport. Mm-hmm. Damn. I miss L.A. Because when we first started L.A., I had Mark Carrier family. He had two sisters and his mom. They would come to the game, and they would bring big old pairs of fried chicken, with collard greens, macaroni and cheese, rolls.

24:41Shannon Sharpe:I like, well damn, do I get to eat anything?

24:43Chad Johnson:Hey listen.

24:44Shannon Sharpe:By the time I get ready to eat it, I got two wings left, Ocho. What the fuck?

24:54Chad Johnson:Hey listen, y 'all know they can't keep y 'all around too long, man. At all y 'all, at least one or two of y 'all gonna get into something.

25:02Shannon Sharpe:For real.

25:03Chad Johnson:Yeah, they gotta get y 'all out of that.

25:06Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, testosterone level still through the roof. We still got that adrenaline pumping.

25:11Chad Johnson:Ocho still running out red bulls. Yeah, yeah.

25:15Shannon Sharpe:But that's why you – I mean, if you think about it, Ocho, most of the time the fight starts, what happens? After a game? In college? After a game. You know, we had guys looking to fight. They going to the party to fight. Ain't nobody going to dance, trying to holler at no ladies.

25:34Chad Johnson:They looking to set it off. Right, you go to the party in college, who out there fighting? Them football players, them Q-Daw. Y 'all out there tearing it up. I'm like, sharp, sharp.

25:49Shannon Sharpe:Hey, the coach ain't security, why you come get me?

25:56Come on, man.

25:58Shannon Sharpe:Why y 'all wanna fight, bro? But see, back now, hey, Hey, them guys squeezed one off in you. Back then, everybody was just knuckling up.

26:06Chad Johnson:Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.

26:07Shannon Sharpe:Hey, hey. They ain't playing no more, it's different. They ain't playing no more now. Hey, ain't nobody taking no ass cutting like they used to. Hey, you take an ass cutting, you be all lumped up and everything. Hey, but you just keep it moving.

26:19Chad Johnson:Now, you're one off up in you.

26:21Shannon Sharpe:Better have that fire.

26:23Chad Johnson:But yo, better have that fire.

26:26Shannon Sharpe:And then we be fighting amongst each other. I was like, dude, we just playing y 'all and the huddle together dabbing everything up and down. Y 'all like here, tear it up the door.

26:39Shannon Sharpe:At least it was reasonable during the season. Once the season was over, and Friday night and Saturday night,

26:49Shannon Sharpe:they snatching the phone off the wall. They snatched the TV off the wall. Bro, we got the TV in a lock with two locks. What's up with all that, man? What? Look at here, a joke. I'm talking about snatch the... They had to put the TV in padlocks. Padlocks. Them jokers get drunk. I'm talking about everything. All the phones off the wall. The washing machine turned upside down. The TV snatched off the... I'm like, what the heck? Bro, how are we going to wash clothes? How are we gonna make any calls? Y 'all keep doing this ish. Damn.

27:40Shannon Sharpe:Oh, it was, hey Joe, like I said, I hope it's not like that now, but boy, back then.

27:47Chad Johnson:I bet you still got some of that. You still got some of it.

27:51Shannon Sharpe:Cause they didn't. I hope it ain't to that level. Joe, when I say it was on another level.

27:54Chad Johnson:Well, I'm saying.

27:55Shannon Sharpe:When I say it was on another level.

27:57Chad Johnson:Yeah.

27:57Shannon Sharpe:And you know, we had them guys that look, I'm talking about, they look for, hey, man, Sharp, I'm all, you know, hey, just go ahead and stay up tonight because I'm going to get in some shit.

28:09Chad Johnson:What? Hey, hey, see, and that's what you get from a 19, 20, 21, 22-yo. They going to act like that, bro. It's hard.

28:19Shannon Sharpe:You didn't have a whole lot of money, Joe, Ocho. You know, so them guys don't put their money in. Yeah. They come back there with some Everclear, some golden grain. Oh man. 190 proof. What's that? Boy, that can start a car. They got a big old tub. They cutting up oranges, they cutting up apples, they cutting up bananas. 11 o 'clock, Joker just staring out the window. Hey, Joe, what's that? It's the Everglades. You put that in your car and it'll go. Hello. It's 190 proof. Yeah. It's alcohol, Ojo. Oh, okay, okay, okay, okay.

28:54Chad Johnson:Oh my goodness.

28:56Shannon Sharpe:It must be cheap alcohol.

28:57Chad Johnson:Yeah, it's cheap. Hey, hey, it's cheap, but they get the party started. That's all we can afford.

29:01Shannon Sharpe:Ain't nobody drinking no, you know. Maybe if you got your work study, you was able to get some Kvassie, yeah, some Hennessy like that. But for the most part, you drunk Black Labor, you drunk Schaefer, you drunk them Big Mouth Mickeys, you had Everclear, you had, you know, you had cheap stuff. Yeah. That'll sit you on your ass.

29:19Chad Johnson:Yeah.

29:21Shannon Sharpe:But that's why everybody comes, so everybody know they're going to be drinking. I had everybody wallet. Anybody that had wallets, anybody that had chain, gold chains, or bracelets, it's all in my room.

29:31Chad Johnson:Yeah.

29:32Shannon Sharpe:Come Sunday, so they bring it on Friday. Come Sunday, hey, Sharp, I leave my wallet over here. Yeah, it's up there, bro. Hey, man, Sharp, did I give you my chain? Yeah, it's up there. Because they know I wasn't going nowhere.

29:46Chad Johnson:Right.

29:47Shannon Sharpe:But, Joe, I enjoyed the camaraderie he had. Yeah. But boy, I sure hated with Friday them Saturday became. I ain't gonna even lie.

29:55Chad Johnson:Them boy acting fool in there. Did they? Man, I'm telling you, I already know.

30:01Shannon Sharpe:You couldn't have no party? You couldn't have no, they, you had to let them in. You couldn't have no party saying, okay, this party's for this group.

30:10Chad Johnson:Yeah. Them boys shutting it down. They shutting it down.

30:15Shannon Sharpe:If you got a keg, if somebody got a party and they got kegs, the kegs back in Peacock. They done took them kegs. they done took them kegs and you we are hey we have a dude i ain't gonna call it i ain't gonna put him out there like that they done stole the keg but they didn't have the spout because you know you gotta have the spout yeah yeah yeah this joker went to his car that's like what that it's like this ain't gotta he got a spot he got he done brought a tire iron so he wanted to bust it the keg. He wanted to bust the keg open. He said, man, if we bust the top off, we can get the cans out of it.

30:57Shannon Sharpe:He thought the keg had cans in it. He didn't realize they say, fool, if you hit this, this thing is going to explode.

31:09Shannon Sharpe:Hey, we had some guys, we had some characters on there. I don't know how. Some of them guys, I don't know how they got into school. I swear, hey, Joe, if Dynamite were brain, they couldn't blow their nose. I have no idea.

31:30But they can play football.

31:32Shannon Sharpe:Right, right. Hey, you man, you got that man. Hey, don't call no coverage. Don't call no – hey, run this. Tackle him. If you get the ball tackling, those were the days. JJ Redick on why Luka isn't talked about more than MVP discussion because he complains to the refs. I don't know. That's why. That's it? They going to hold that against him? Forget what he's doing on the court? You know, we're not going to put him in an MVP conversation simply because he complains to the refs. That makes absolutely no sense, but I understand. Yeah. He averaging like 33 a game. Yeah.

32:12Chad Johnson:I think he's in the conversation. Obviously, with 10 or 12 games left, if they can continue to keep winning. Is he going to win it? Nah. But I definitely think he in there, man. But I think Shea has kind of sold it up, if you ask me. So that's probably why they don't really talk about it that much.

32:35Shannon Sharpe:You need to invite some of your former teammates. I absolutely will not invite any of my former teammates from college over here. Unless it's Buckethead. Absolutely not. It'll tell you what they're going to say. Crazy to think, but Luka has more 60-point games than LeBron, KD, and Dirk combined.

32:57Chad Johnson:Damn. Hey, the boy been playing.

33:02Shannon Sharpe:I think Shaq has one 60-point game, which is 61. LeBron has a 60-point game. I don't think KD has a 60 or Dirk.

33:12Chad Johnson:Hey, the boy can play. Who, look up? Yeah, he can play.

33:17Shannon Sharpe:Oh, yeah, for sure.

33:18Chad Johnson:He can play. He's been playing pro since about 12 or 13 years old.

33:22Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

33:23Chad Johnson:You know what I'm saying?

33:24Shannon Sharpe:After you saw what he did to the Clippers as a young, young player, as a 21, 22, and they had supposedly all those defensive stoppers, they had PG, they had Kawhi, they had Pat Bell, and he cooked everybody.

33:40Chad Johnson:I said, no, he's for real. Yeah, that's when he made a believe out of me too. I was like, damn, they can't do nothing with that boy out there. Nothing.

33:48Shannon Sharpe:Absolutely nothing.

33:49Chad Johnson:Yeah.

33:50Shannon Sharpe:Hey, and that was, PG was at his prime.

33:56Chad Johnson:Yes. Yeah. They supposed to have a chance. Hey, we, today on the late one, right, Joe on my soccer podcast

34:07Shannon Sharpe:yeah what'd you do my guest today we had Miles McBride that played with the Knicks yeah okay yeah yeah yeah I think he hurt right now so he from Cincinnati he went to Mola High School and we had a segment where we talked about comparisons right so we were comparing soccer players and who and we used NBA players as a reference and obviously Luka's name came up you know today and talking and I say how does Luka cook the way he cooked, but it seems so slow. From the naked eye, from me watching at home, it's like he's not explosive like Russell Westbrook. Like D. Rose in his prime. How does he go?

34:47He's like, man, listen, he knows how to manipulate the game. He knows how to manipulate defenders. He knows how to use his body and get into a spot. I mean, the way he explained it so perfectly where it just made sense. If you never watch Luka play and you hear him explain today on the show,

35:04Chad Johnson:no it was dope it was dope he's uh he's very deceptive Ocho you know he can stop on a dime he has great breaks and he has great change of direction you know I mean you don't have to be

35:16Shannon Sharpe:the fastest the quickest the most explosive but if you know how to take angles you know what I

35:21Chad Johnson:mean you know how to use your body to keep defenders away and that's what he does like it's impressive to watch because you're right he's not the fastest or the quickest but you can't stop none of that he got going on bro no he gonna get to his spot oh yeah

35:39Shannon Sharpe:and the thing is you worry about you you make him get a ball up he'll come right back and get it back

35:44Chad Johnson:yeah yeah and then what they so high go ahead joe they so high powered on that weak side though yeah as far as shooting the three catching lives like you can tell those guys know what they're they're very decisive when they catch the ball right there in the middle. Even Jackson Hayes, they make pretty good decisions right up in that area, and they've been very effective in that area too.

36:08Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, and you see LeBron getting a lot of dunks from that dunker spot.

36:12Chad Johnson:Yeah.

36:13Shannon Sharpe:So, he loves the ball at the nail.

36:15Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah.

36:16Shannon Sharpe:Because now he can wheel and see, and it's hard to bring the double.

36:19Chad Johnson:You can't double from that spot.

36:21Shannon Sharpe:You can't double him there.

36:22Chad Johnson:Nope.

36:23Shannon Sharpe:And so, but that's going to be, I'm going to see a game. The Spurs end their six-year playoff drive behind Wimby's game winner. Wimby buried a 17-foot fadeaway over Iguodaro with 1.1 seconds to give San Antonio a 101-100 win over the Suns. The shot marked Wimby's first go-ahead make in the final five seconds of the fourth quarter overtime in his career after missing the previous five attempts.

36:59Hey.

37:02Shannon Sharpe:Wimby.

37:03Chad Johnson:Two hot teams, too.

37:06Shannon Sharpe:Wimby had 34. He was perfect for the free throw line, 34 and 12. D-Fox had 23. Vassell has 12. Champagne had 14. Castle was out tonight.

37:18Chad Johnson:Yeah. But they deep, though. They don't even matter, Uncle Ocho. That Castle didn't play. They deep. It's two hot teams right now. Phoenix has been playing great basketball. Spurs has been playing great. But Wimby, like a cheat code out there, man. What you supposed to do with all that? Nothing.

37:35Shannon Sharpe:Nothing. Hope he missed. Because you ain't bothering that shot.

37:39Chad Johnson:You just got to tame them guys around them in order to beat them. You got to play five on four, huh? Yeah, I'm saying, like, you got to kind of figure, you know, Wimby going to get his. But we can't let these other dudes, Fox and Castle and all them, go for 25, 27, 30 points, because now we ain't got a chance. Yeah. No.

38:05Shannon Sharpe:But the Spurs are headed to the playoffs. I mean, they get number one overall draft pick, David Robinson, number one overall draft pick, Tim Duncan, number one overall draft pick, Wimby.

38:19Chad Johnson:They keep them a nice big over there on the map. Yeah. Every 12 years, they got another B. Not just any old B, a whole game-changing B.

38:33Shannon Sharpe:Andre Iguodala says winning isn't a priority right now for players in the NBA. You got one-third of the league tanking. You got guys who will never contribute to winning but have big numbers and then get paid. All agents do is say what your numbers are, then match them to whoever gets paid the highest in that category. So it's like I can average 24, but because it's not hard as it used to be. So now it's like why play the right way to win when you can make more money getting buckets. Joe, any truth to that?

39:02Chad Johnson:That's a little truth in it. I think, you know, guys are so caught up in their own brands now, Uncle Ocho, that, you know, they want their own brands to be successful just as much as, you know, whatever it is they're doing on the court. You know what I mean? They want all that to be successful off the court. So you see a lot of guys who kind of, you know, kind of in their own lane, trying to do their own thing. So I think it's some truth to what Iguodala is saying. You know, it is a, I don't want to say it's easier to score, you know, in this era. But without the paint being so clogged up and the floor being so spaced and open, there's more opportunities.

39:38Chad Johnson:You know what I mean? There's more opportunities. And yeah, he is right. These agents do compare. It's just like in any other sport. In football, if you franchise a dude, we going with the what? Top five average salaries. Yeah. You know what I mean? So like if you, if Average 25, we're going to look and see who Average 25 and what he make. Yeah, that's how it's been.

40:00Shannon Sharpe:What they going to look at, Ocho? The Rams, Puka, Adrian, look at that. Look at what Chase got. Yeah. Look at my neighbor, numbers to Chase. JSN, look at my numbers to Chase.

40:12Chad Johnson:Right.

40:13Shannon Sharpe:I don't know what y 'all want me to tell you. that's the way it works yeah but i i get it because the thing is is that i mean look it's so much money 300 300 million i mean look at the contract 300 million tatum and brown got 300 million dollar contract they're about to be a 400 million dollar guy oh yeah in the next in the next 10 years they're gonna be a guy making half a bill yeah because the way the tv deals are and

40:43Chad Johnson:the money, the endorsements, yes. Oh, no question. My goodness. I hope it be my daughter.

40:52Chad Johnson:Hey, you better get there and get a son, Joe. Get it right. I got a little foyo over here. He look like he's six. My little youngest son, Jet. Yeah, he's four. He look like he's six over here. So he's shooting the rock? Yeah, he do a little bit of everything, man. I keep him right. I got him playing soccer, get his footwork right. You know what I'm talking about, Ocho? Yeah. Get his, huh?

41:16Shannon Sharpe:Don't let him play no football, Joe.

41:18Chad Johnson:Nah, I ain't gonna let him play no football. We might play a little flag or something, you know?

41:25Shannon Sharpe:Don't let him play football. It's different, Tommy. You gotta like, you gotta really love it, Ocho, like we did, cause you know playing, bro, we had to get that paint. We want a damn flag. I buy playing flag. I'm trying to play Bob Warner. I'm trying to put the helmets and pads on.

41:40Chad Johnson:Yeah. Hey, hey, hey, hey, as a little kid, you know it's funny to me to see them kids out there at six, seven years old, man, hitting each other like that. Yeah.

41:49Shannon Sharpe:Hey, don't you remember we had them snap on hip pants, butt pants? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll never forget, 1988, boy. Yeah, man, please. We tried, hey, boy, we, hey, and all that time, we done been playing without pads for years. We tackling in the front yard, we tackling on pavement. Right. And we got some tackle. One, please. Play and throw a tackle. Yep, I remember that. Boy, y 'all gonna get hurt. Oh, well. Right, right. Touch that football. Bust him up. Tackle the man with the ball.

42:24Chad Johnson:Right, right.

42:26Shannon Sharpe:Good days there, boy. All right, this is gonna be an interesting conversation. Former USC quarterback Matt Leonard revealed he's denied multiple requests to unretire his number 11 jersey for current players and recruits. Leonard said there have been multiple times where people at UFC have asked me if I would unretire my jersey for some five-star prospect. And do you want to know what I told those guys straight up? I said, absolutely, if it not, I'm never going to unretire my jersey for some random dude, by the way, that could wear number 11 and then transfer after a year. The only person I'll ever wear UFC number 11 would be Cole, who's not there right now.

43:07Shannon Sharpe:he's at SMU or my two boys if they end up going to USC and playing football that's it I mean that's oh Joe let me know what you're thinking yeah I mean you had a jersey retired at Oregon State and somebody said you know what a wide receiver coming to you and or the Oregon State came to you and said oh Joe we got this five-star guy he wants to wear I think what you was 85 in college I was 80 I was 80 okay you was 80 yeah we were uh this guy wants to wear number 80 you let him take it down off the wall uh depending on who it is depending on what it is my legacy is already submitted in that jersey and the fact that someone else is wearing it i i would see that as a as a sign of a sign of respect you know for one even wanting to wear it behind me being what i've done in college i wouldn't have a problem with it now again it's very important depending on who it is that that's that's what matters most i you ain't just be no goddamn slouch and just wearing the jersey just because you want to have it on.

44:05Hey, Joe, if you that boy, if you that boy, oh, man, put that thing on, man.

44:12Shannon Sharpe:Joe, University of Arkansas, if you had that number, they put that number up in the rafters and somebody said, we got this five-star, Joe, and he want it, you will let him get it?

44:20Chad Johnson:It depends. I'm with Ocho, because I know some cats. I know some cats from around the way. I'm talking about some youngsters. If that was the case, Yeah, I got a guy I would definitely let him wear. Yeah, for sure. But I got – obviously, my jersey is not retired, but I do enjoy watching the Razorbacks play in Billy Richmond Jr., the third, Billy Richmond III. He wears number 24. That's what I wore in college.

44:48Shannon Sharpe:Okay.

44:48Chad Johnson:He'll be out there doing his things. I like to see that 2-4 out there getting money, Ocho. You know what I'm talking about? I ain't going to lie. You ain't doing it.

44:56Shannon Sharpe:The answer is absolutely not. my jersey in savannah state is retired number two i have the only jersey that's retired yeah and i've had guys hit me up on social media to my man oh you know what the dude told me what he said you let me make you let me wear this number i'm gonna make it more famous than you

45:16you see how you turn your head on cho he said he was gonna make it more famous than you yeah hey that's that's that's a good attitude to have huh is he was he really like that I don't know.

45:30Shannon Sharpe:Number two ain't coming down. There's a reason I got number two. I got, look, I was thinking about like, what number could I get? And it just so happens by the time I got to Savannah State, my brother had number two. Because at first he was number 26 and then he was number 85. I had number three in college. I mean, in high school, he had number three. They retired, they retired, both of our, so they retired number three for him and for me. so nobody else could wear it. So when I got to college, I was like, man, what number should I get? I was like, three is good, but there's something about two.

46:05Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. So I was like, I got number two.

46:07Chad Johnson:Yeah.

46:09Shannon Sharpe:Man, when Coach Davis say, son, can't nobody else wear this number. He said, ain't no way. Yeah. Ain't no way. It just don't look right, huh? Yeah, he say, son, no. Oh, I'm a three-time All-American, three-time conference player of the year. You know, Kodak All-American. I was like, bro, I say make your own number famous. Get you a number and make you famous. Make him want to retire your number.

46:40Chad Johnson:Yeah.

46:41Shannon Sharpe:Nah, you ain't getting that number.

46:42Chad Johnson:Hey, but what if he been wearing number two his whole career, huh?

46:46Shannon Sharpe:Well, he wear number two until he got to college at Savannah State because he ain't getting that one. I'm not so sure it would look right. I'm not so sure it would look right. Number two, it's anonymous. Everybody, if you anywhere from the 80s, if you came back to Savannah State from the time from 86 to 89, they already know who that number is.

47:14Shannon Sharpe:Because back then, you had to take, we didn't have no custom, no sleeves. So I used to take my arms so them guns would show it. Yeah, yeah. And in the front, I had the tape side up so it looked like a question mark.

47:27Chad Johnson:Yeah.

47:32I mean, come on, man. I don't know. Listen, you know, like 85 in Cincinnati when other players wear it? T. Higgins, I liked it. T. was like, man, I can't do it. It just don't feel right.

47:53Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. It don't feel right. And just seeing other people at 85, it just. I feel the same way, Ochoa. When I see people at 84, I'm like, bro, come on, bro. You in 84? In Denver? You? Do y 'all know what that number represent? Y 'all know who wore that number? I mean, look, me personally, I think, look, if you go to the Hall of Fame, your team should retire. Mm. I mean like there are very few numbers that's retired like Steelers. They don't retire. I think Joe Green's numbers retired. Yeah. Ernie Stotner. Terry's. I think Franco's. I think that's those are only ones. I mean, but like you got the Bears, you got teams like that.

48:39Shannon Sharpe:They got so many guys in the damn Hall of Fame. They run out of numbers.

48:42Chad Johnson:Right, right.

48:44Shannon Sharpe:You know, you got the Bears, you got the Packers, you got the Giants, teams that have been in existence for over 100 years. Yeah. They got, you know, 20, 30 players. Well, that's 20, 30 numbers. You only got 100 numbers. So you only got so many. But, you know, now, Ocho, when I first got to the league, you couldn't have like a 1 through, you know, 20 number. Yeah. Unless you like Amar Rashad. He got drafted as a running back. So that's why he was able to have 22 at wide receiver. So if you got drafted at a position and they move you, you could keep your number. Your number, okay. Yeah. So that's why, you know, you had, you know, numbers like that.

49:26Shannon Sharpe:But nah, hell nah. Mm-mm. Nah, I couldn't get, I couldn't say nah, bro.

49:34Chad Johnson:Good damn, man.

49:36Shannon Sharpe:Nah. Nah, like I said, you're going to need to be, I'm trying to think, you better be Charles Woodson. You got to be a bad boy. Because Woody was number two, Woody was number two at Michigan. Michigan. Yeah. But bro, don't make your own number. I tried to get me a number. Well, obviously in high school, you know, hey, my brother got it, I want that number. And two, nobody had two, looked around. As a matter of fact, the guy that played opposite of me, he wanted three. But Coach Davis had done told me, I can take any number that I wanted.

50:10Chad Johnson:Yeah.

50:11Shannon Sharpe:I want two. It's just something about that two.

50:14Chad Johnson:That two hit a little different, you know what I mean? Woo hoo hoo. Hey, we all wore number two for a little significant part of our career, huh? Yeah, yeah. I was number two in high school, huh? Trying to be like a Dwayne Starks wore two first when he was a quarterback. Yeah. And Samari rolled, you know Samari rolled? Yeah, yeah, I do. And Samari wore number two when he, and then when Samari left, then I wore number two. I mean, I was trying to. Oh, you got my jersey right there too, huh? Hey, Joe, that's my high school jersey. Hey, Joe, you want this one? That's the one you're supposed to been sending me.

50:53Chad Johnson:You're supposed to been sending me that a minute ago. Yeah, we're getting that out to you. We're going to get that out to you, Joe. Yeah. So which one you want? You want the home jersey, the red? Yeah, hey, hey, after that damn stunt, I want both of them. Give me both of them. They're on the way, Joe. We're going to get that out right out to you. Hey, I never did ask you, how you got my high school jersey?

51:16Shannon Sharpe:Well, you need to ask Joe that, because Joe about to get him. So you ask Joe how did he get him. Hey, Joe. Hey, Joe, them jerseys get to you, Joe? I'm going to be on your ass now, boy. I need my jerseys, Joe. Hey, Joe, Joe, you said that's collateral, huh?

51:29Chad Johnson:Yeah, man, come on. I'm going to put them on eBay. I know they'll go for a little something. It ain't signed. It ain't going to go for nothing. Yeah, it's going to go for a little something. Hey, I ain't seen my high school jersey in so long.

51:43Shannon Sharpe:Well, pretend you didn't see it. I done saw it. Send me that though. No, I'm not going to be able to do that with you. All right. Now it's time to play a fade presented by Prize Picks.

52:03Shannon Sharpe:All right. We got UK and SCU. Malachi Moreno. Six rebounds. Yeah, he going to get that.

52:15Chad Johnson:more

52:17Shannon Sharpe:Evan Mahaffey Arkansas

52:21Chad Johnson:I think that's Akron

52:23Shannon Sharpe:Akron yeah so he get points and rebounds 16 and a half

52:30Chad Johnson:we all gonna be on a guesser I think

52:35Shannon Sharpe:how did we do yesterday did we do good yesterday I mean today nah Acuff I don't think Acuff didn't get us our points.

52:45Chad Johnson:He did?

52:46Shannon Sharpe:No, but he got the points, but you could buy points and assist.

52:50Chad Johnson:Okay, y 'all don't worry about it. We'll get y 'all next time, all right? Yeah. I ain't got no money now.

52:58Shannon Sharpe:I put all my money over here. I'm going to go more. I'm going to go more. Okay. Anthony Del Oso, Arizona guard. Is he going to make two? One and a half threes made.

53:11Chad Johnson:So he got to make two to win.

53:13Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Oh, man. He been shooting three. I'm going, yeah. All right. Uh-oh.

53:20Chad Johnson:Okay.

53:21Shannon Sharpe:Darren Peterson.

53:23Chad Johnson:Points.

53:23Shannon Sharpe:28 and a half. Points, rebounds, and assists. Oh, all together? All together.

53:29Chad Johnson:28 and a half. I'm going to say, yeah. I feel like Darren Peterson, he hear the chatter. I feel like he going to come out and put on the show. I got him. Yeah, I got him going over on.

53:38Shannon Sharpe:I like it, too. I sure hope he stays ass in the game long enough. If he do that, we got it. So we going over. $25 to win$150. Download the app today. Use code Shannon to get$50 in lineups after you play your first$5 lineup. Prize picks. It's good to be right. All right. It's time for the final segment of the evening. It's time for Q and A.

54:16Shannon Sharpe:All right. It's Maddie says, Ash, go ahead and schedule a nightcap show in San Antonio for June. Shaolin Wimby is so final, we're going honking, baby. Oh, I can't forget. And still. Hello.

54:32Shannon Sharpe:Child, please.

54:37Shannon Sharpe:Jordan to go. Ocho bracket done by lunch. King Isos going to Molly Wap Ocho easily. Liberty City is soft. Them boys from Little Rock don't play. Hello. I told y 'all, man. Hey. Hey, keep thinking that now.

54:52Chad Johnson:Yeah. Don't worry. We're going to show up and show out.

54:58Shannon Sharpe:T.S. Car Watch Detail Service. Isos up. Where y 'all think Jordan Poole going to end up at next season? Why you think he keep hopping around?

55:08Chad Johnson:That's a great question. because he went from starting Uncle Ocho to now coming off the bench. And I went to the game when they played the Hawks. I think it's probably been a little over a month ago or so now. And the man barely even played, bro. Did he piss somebody off, Joe? I just think they're just ready to move on. They got to be ready. I mean, he was barely playing, Ocho. And I know he can play, so I don't know what it is. If he done rubbed him the wrong way or if it's something he's not doing, I'm not sure. but they ain't giving him no love. They going with the young guys.

55:42Shannon Sharpe:He ain't been the same since he left Golden State.

55:45Chad Johnson:Nah. Do you take that structure and stuff for granted, bro?

55:49Shannon Sharpe:You do. Twitch and Ash, can someone please tell the media and MVP voters to stop hating on Luka and stop trying to take away from his greatness? They robbed him from MVP in previous seasons. Shannon, you need to talk to Stephen A. and Perk and tell those guys to stop trying to take away and downplay Luka's greatness. Every year the Haper brothers try to downplay how incredible Luka is. Tell them to stop. I think they know how great Luka is. He's a historical player. He's about to lead the league in scoring for a second time. He's only 27 years of age. 26. I think he's 26 years of age. Maybe 27 now.

56:30Shannon Sharpe:Oh, he's great. He's historically great. Yeah. A guy that can go get you 40, 50. He can get you 20 rebounds. He can get you 15, 20 assists. He's 27. Offensively, he has no weakness. Offensively, he has no weakness. He can shoot the three. He can shoot the mid if he need to. He can get to the rim. He ain't going to play above the rim, but he's going to get to the rim. He's going to stop, bait you. You're going to hit him in the back, and he's going to kiss it off the glass. And I am one.

57:00Chad Johnson:He can post up. Yeah, he got everything in his repertoire. He can do everything. I agree. He just got to give you a little more effort on defense. And he does try. And he's been doing that lately. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's trying.

57:17Shannon Sharpe:Toulouse said, like if you're here for Lakers in five.

57:23Chad Johnson:Lakers in five? If we get the T-Woods, we're going to get them in four.

57:31Shannon Sharpe:Uh-oh. Oh, you feel good? Like Mo say, four, four, four. You feel good about them playing the T-Wolves? I feel great. I feel Tony the Tiger. Great.

57:43Chad Johnson:I don't. I don't feel great. I don't feel great. They playing great basketball, but I just. We're three in all against the Timberwolves this year. Man, listen, let me tell you something. When I was playing in Brooklyn, Ocho, we went three and one against the Miami Heat that year. when they had LeBron, D. Wade, and Bosh. And we played them boys in the second round of the playoffs. We felt good about it. We thought we actually had a chance to win. They swept you? Nah, we won one game. The only how we won that game, we had to shoot a franchise-high three. We made a franchise-high three just to win the game.

58:26Shannon Sharpe:T.S. Carwise detail survey. Jokic averaging the triple-double. How is the MVP not already his? because Shea, think about it, he's a guard. He's averaging 31.5 points a game. He's shooting 50 % from the floor. His team has the best record. He's the best player on that team. Unfortunately, guys, he's going to win it again.

58:49Chad Johnson:And people are tired of success. They're tired of seeing Jokic. He's not really won, what, two, three? How many won? Three?

58:57Shannon Sharpe:Three.

58:58Chad Johnson:Yeah, and you get bored with greatness, fellas. You do. The man just averaging. He ain't doing nothing but averaging just a triple-double. That's it. Big boy triple-double.

59:08Shannon Sharpe:29, 12, and 10.

59:10Chad Johnson:That's crazy. So, hey, you got an argument there now.

59:16Shannon Sharpe:Taco Fall is the missing piece for the Lakers to win all year. You need someone to slow down women to force him to take bad shots. Reach out to Rob and Gene and make it happen. Thank me later. Taco can't move, man. He can't keep up. Taco by Sam Sam, huh?

59:33Chad Johnson:Yeah. Hey, they going to put taco in them pick and rolls, have them swivel in them hips? He ain't going to make it. Yeah.

59:41Shannon Sharpe:This is A-Day Phenom. I'm running up these burner counts to get y 'all the two meal. Hey, appreciate it, bro. Appreciate it, bro. Pedro Jackson, can you wish my big sister Nicole a happy birthday, please? Thank you. Keep up the good work, y 'all. Absolutely. Nicole, happy birthday. Pedro wanted to wish you a happy birthday. Happy birthday. Happy birthday. Happy birthday. Actually, say this big head, sis. But happy birthday. Hopefully, you're doing something fun, man. Aiso, who gave you the toughest matchup on defense? Ocho, who's the defender that you said, man, it's going to be a long day?

1:00:18Chad Johnson:Who gave me the toughest matchups on defense?

1:00:26Chad Johnson:I'll probably say – I'll probably give it to Ron Artis. Because Artest was so physical. Uncle Ocho.

1:00:33Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

1:00:33Chad Johnson:Not only him being physical, but he had great hands. You know what I mean? Like, I don't know about y 'all, but, like, I done played with cats. And, like, defensively, they just have a knack for, like, you know, getting deflections, touching the ball. You know what I mean? That's how I run Artest was. So, it's like when you played against him, you knew not to play with him. Go on, give him one ha-ha and go on, get by him. But all that dancing and all that, boy, he going to be going the other way with that.

1:01:00Shannon Sharpe:And he built like a D-Lyman, man. Yeah, yeah. Man, Ron, man, man, you big. Yeah.

1:01:06Chad Johnson:He's huge. Yeah. He can move them feet too, boy. Yeah.

1:01:10Shannon Sharpe:And he played with his body. Yeah. So that physical contact, that's what, right up his alley. Yeah. It's been tough for him to play like that today, though.

1:01:19Chad Johnson:Yeah, it would. They be calling fouls left and right.

1:01:22Shannon Sharpe:It would. Albert Lewis was the guy that helped me become the player that I became. He was like 6 '2". He was long. He was angular. And he gave me a lot of different looks. Sometimes he would freeze me, quick jam me. Other times he would feather. Sometimes he's sitting right there. Other times he'd play off. I mean, he just kept you guessing. So you're worried about, what is he going to give me this time? Is he going to quick jam me? Is he going to feather me? Is he going to press? Is he going to play off? You're thinking about all the things that he do all the while. I got to think about what I got to do.

1:01:53Shannon Sharpe:I got to get open. At the end of the day, whatever he does, I still got to get open. Yeah. So what he does can't have a bearing on what I got to try to do. Yeah. Get open. Give John a throw. Yeah. Shoot, boy. Me, probably out of everybody, got to be Revis. Got to be Revis. That 2009 season. He was so patient. He was so strong. It just seemed that nothing was working. You know, from a technical standpoint, I was off a lot because I was more thinking than just trying to go. and boy, he get the arm bar and then ride that goddamn hip. He had a, Joe, he had elite ball skills.

1:02:32Chad Johnson:Yeah. Ball skills. As soon as you pass maybe seven yards and them eyes go back, he looking for that ball. As long as he can feel you, as long as he can feel you with that arm, eyes back.

1:02:46Shannon Sharpe:He gonna run your ass out of bounds too. He gonna make the quarterback drop it in the bucket. He ain't finna give you no room to throw it over the top. If he gonna throw a perfect pass. He was the real deal, bro. He was the real deal.

1:03:05Shannon Sharpe:It's about the 22-15. Don't ask us how we got Wimby at number one. How LeBron went to Cleveland. Or Magic went to LA. The league knows AJ stayed in Utah. It was different. The Lakers had the number one overall pick. There was no lottery then. They changed it because teams were tanking. because back-to-back years, the Houston Rockets, they got Ralph Sampson, and then the next year, they ended up getting Akeem Olajuwon. So they said they're done with that. So they instituted a lottery, and guess what? The Knicks have been downtrodden. Guess who got Patrick Ewing in 1985? Ta-da. The Knicks. And people have been saying it's been suspect ever since.

1:03:47Chad Johnson:Yeah.

1:03:49Shannon Sharpe:Junior underscore cool cat. Wimby sends my Spurs back to the playoffs since 2019. San Antonio, stand up. The Fiesta is back in town. Let's go. Hey, you guys got a chance to be good for a while. You absolutely do. Oh, yeah. Woo.

1:04:05Chad Johnson:Special.

1:04:06Shannon Sharpe:I'm about to get out there and see Wimby play when he come to L.A.

1:04:09Chad Johnson:Yeah.

1:04:10Shannon Sharpe:Brandon Crowe. Hey, Nightcap. What's the earliest childhood memory? Do you guys have any stories?

1:04:15Chad Johnson:The earliest childhood memory. I just, I remember when I first started playing at the Boys and Girls Club, Thrasher Boys and Girls Club, Uncle Ocho, I was about seven. About seven? That's about the earliest I can remember. Playing at the Boys Club. My mama was working at the Boys Club, so I was in there in the gym all day. I'm trying to think.

1:04:40Shannon Sharpe:What you got, Ocho? The earliest I can remember? 1988. Playing for Miami Lakes, Optimus, Python. Coach Bud. I was a little kid. I was small. I'm not sure. I can't remember how old I was. I'm not really that good at math. Now you 11 or 12. In 88? Yeah. No, I was playing before that then. I hope so. Big rust ass out there with them little. You know that kid. Hey, I had a little, I had a little, hey, Joe, man, I was so little, man, I had a big old head. You was 10? Yeah, them little tiny shoulder pads and helmet. I never forget, man. I got the picture. I got the team picture somewhere in grandma's house, man.

1:05:35What position do you play? I play nose tackle.

1:05:40Shannon Sharpe:Well, I know y 'all got ran through. Hey, I was a thumper, boy.

1:05:50I was a thumper back then. I don't know what happened when I got to the league.

1:05:55Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, how you going to play nose guard at 32 pounds? Nah, I would look, but I play nose guard. I don't know. It's funny. Nick Morris says, made it to 46. Stay great, guys. Birthday wish with hoping Ocho paid. and don't tell King Isle no more live. Nick, appreciate you, man. Happy birthday, bro. 46.

1:06:15Chad Johnson:Happy birthday, bro. 46. Man.

1:06:21Shannon Sharpe:Y 'all know the song G, isn't it funny how time slips on away.

1:06:32Shannon Sharpe:What you know about that? Like the Google dogs say, I don't want the world to see because they bite when I understand, Ocho. Yeah. Taco fall to the Lakers. If that's the move that can get the Lakers to beat the Spurs, a body of size down low Wimby. Think deep. Nah, bro.

1:06:52Chad Johnson:He can't guard Wimby out there on that damn perimeter? Uh-uh.

1:06:58Shannon Sharpe:Taco can only guard me at 58 with two repaired bilateral hips. Wimby's going to call Taco fall like this to that deep water. Come on out here with your boy now. Yeah, he be falling all right. Your Majesty on Fleet, I had 13 correct. I'm nervous about Duke and Arkansas though.

1:07:17Chad Johnson:What do you mean?

1:07:19Shannon Sharpe:He had a 13. You had 12. I had 11. Ocho had 10. So he said he's worried about Duke. He worried about somebody beating Duke and Arkansas. Yeah, I can see Duke. High point.

1:07:31Chad Johnson:You need to chill, Ocho. All right, my bad. No, for real. Don't even start there with that bad juju, bro. It has bad juju. It's bad. Holling about a high point out there. That's bad juju, bro. I'm going to tell you high point in North Carolina. You know, I told you Rob from Giyal Boy that work now. You know what I'm saying? I ain't tell you. Come on. Come on, Uncle Wayne. We can't beat. Come on.

1:07:55Shannon Sharpe:It's Maddie 2215. King, Iso, Prince, Unk, and Jester, Capilott. Best prediction for the next yard to join Luka and La La Land once LeBron tires. I got Joker joining MVP Luka. How the hell are you going to get out to Denver? I don't see that happening.

1:08:14Chad Johnson:That's your wish for thinking. I just want the Lakers.

1:08:17Shannon Sharpe:No, he said that. I didn't say that. That would be nice, but I don't know if we need two slow guys that don't play defense.

1:08:25Chad Johnson:Yeah, they not. I think the Lakers are taking, but I don't think that Denver ain't get a plea. First of all, the one thing we know about the Lakers, they always

1:08:37Shannon Sharpe:going to have a superstar they always have you go back it started with will and jerry west well actually west and elgin baylor was there but then they traded for wilt and then they traded for kareem yeah and then they traded for jack and then they had kobe it didn't i mean that was that was after magic got there in 80 in 79 so and then you trade for shack and then you got Kobe and then you get LeBron and now you got Luka. So you've had 40 years maybe a small period of time in the last 50 years in which you didn't have a superstar. You go back to Minneapolis and they had George Michael. So the Lakers I mean you're in Hollywood.

1:09:18Shannon Sharpe:You got to have stars. Ain't no way around it. It's not OKC. You're not in Utah. You gotta have a star in LA because if you don't they're not coming. They used to walk in red carpets. They used to live in Malibu. They used to eating on patios, on rooftops. They need to be seen. You're not going to be seen if you suck. Yeah.

1:09:45Chad Johnson:They're going to always keep him a star now.

1:09:48Shannon Sharpe:Absolutely. I don't know. Hey, thank you. They gifted him Nico because it's going to be tough sledding once LeBron left, but now they got a guy they can keep for another 10 years. Mm-hmm.

I mean, Ash and her team is constantly working. You see the graphics team, they're constantly putting out clips. They're constantly editing. They're constantly doing. It is a lot of work to do it properly. and to put it out, to do two, three shows a week. I mean, look, you can do one show a week.

1:11:10Shannon Sharpe:That's what Club Shea shares. Once a week, it's a conversation. Once a week, every Wednesday at noon Eastern, it's coming out. But to do what we do this, five days a week during football season, we do four days a week right now. 1:12:20Shannon Sharpe:He with the Warriors, yes.

1:12:21Chad Johnson:Yeah, I mean, UNC alum, one of the UNC greats. Might be possible. Cause you gotta have somebody who can connect with these young boys, Uncle Ocho.

1:12:34Shannon Sharpe:I know who they can go get. And somebody that's familiar with UNC.

1:12:37Chad Johnson:Yeah, and somebody who they gonna respect. Yep. Tell Mike, come on down there and coach now. Mike who? Shoot, there's only one Mike. Man, Mike over there winning NASCAR races left and right. He ain't studying y 'all. Yeah, I'm just saying, think about that.
