In short
The episode is a live Las Vegas “Nightcap Hour” boxing preview plus sports talk. The hosts discuss Ryan Garcia’s upcoming fight versus Conor Benn, arguing Garcia will win easily. They also debate boxing discipline, conditioning, and “timing” versus raw speed, using examples like Marquez timing Pacquiao. A major theme is that elite fighters are “wired differently” due to tough upbringings and mental toughness.
Guests
Rafael Akujuri (Nigerian boxer, 19-3 with 18 KOs; orthodox stance). He describes his camp in Miami, sparring with Tyson Fury, plus sparring with Dronev, Luis Ortiz, and Nesto Santana. He explains he transitioned from basketball (Jordan Classic, college at the U, NFL practice squad) and says his style is influenced by Lennox Lewis, Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather, Triple G, Anthony Joshua, Crawford, Errol Spence, and Marvin Hagler, aiming to create his own style.
Key claims
Akujuri says he’s disciplined (no partying, family-focused), expects to win by knockout or dominate rounds, and targets a belt after this fight.
Notable examples
Pacquiao (inspiration; Akujuri says he undercut Pacquiao’s fight), Marquez vs Pacquiao (timing), and boxing conditioning parallels to tennis.

2:01Chad Johnson:Have your kids ever wanted to try an Olympic and Paralympic sport? Try fencing. It's fast, competitive, and even offered at the NCAA level. Find a beginner class near you at tryfencing.org. That's tryfencing.org. You got to be different to be a boxer, though. Well, you got to go because it's just you in there. Yeah. And, man, you got to have some mental toughness. I tip my hat to them cats. I enjoy watching boxing, man, and how those guys stay disciplined, stay in elite shape. They're probably the most elite-shaped athletes there are. Yeah. Man. And you got to be mentally wired a little different, too, Joe.
2:38Chad Johnson:You do, bro. You got to been done went through something. I'm serious, bro. Like, you probably done went through something. You as bad as I don't know what as a kid. They had to find other ways to try to get out of me. Right, right, right, right. Like, I just feel like there ain't nothing you just pick up and be like,
2:52Shannon Sharpe:oh, man, I think I want to be a boxer. You ain't become no boxer when you had silk pajamas as a kid. That damn show didn't happen. Right. You become a boxer because that's it. Yeah. You grew up very, very hard. You grew up rugged. You grew up tough. You go back and look at those guys like James Braddock. They're telling the story how he like, man, he fought because I got to feed six, seven kids. I got to feed a family. What else am I supposed to do? Hello. Ain't nobody hired at this time, you know, in this economy, this climate. And you look at the boxers. Look at when you hear the story of boxers.
3:30Shannon Sharpe:A lot of them are very, very similar. A lot of them coming from impoverished backgrounds. Some come from broken homes. And this is the only way out. Some, like, you know what, I got tired of getting beat up. I learned how to fight. Now I'm a professional boxer. Whatever it is that took you to get there, you have to be wired differently. Just like to play football. to go out there and hit somebody to take your body and to crash into somebody else you different yeah everybody can't do that everybody oh i could no no no everybody cannot cannot train even if you want to to try to train your body to go run into another man at a very high rate of speed uh to do that it takes a special type of person and boxing takes an even special more special type of person.
4:27Joe Johnson:What's up, boss? You good?
4:28Shannon Sharpe:Nice to meet you, man. Pleasure, pleasure, pleasure. What's up, bro? How you doing, man? Yeah, nice to meet you. Yeah, you good? You good? You can sit on the table right there, bro.
4:45Shannon Sharpe:How you been, bro? How you doing? How are you? Man, you got to pronounce Rafael. You have to pronounce his last name. Rafael Akujuri. Akujuri? Akujuri. A-K-P-E. Oh, Akup. It's Nigerian. Oh, okay. 19 and 3, 18 KOs. Okay, okay. Bro, 18 KOs and 19 fights? That's what we do. You getting them up out of there, huh? It's my job. It's what I do for a living. It's what I get paid. Knock them out and keep it stepping. Go ahead, Ocho. Nigerian boxing with an orthodox stance.
5:14Joe Johnson:Hey, how was camp? How was camp? Camp was great, you know. Right before this fight, I had a fight in May, which I unfortunately lost. But I was fighting for the WBC International School in Germany. And just after that fight, I mean, that was one of the fights where I had to go the distance for the first time. Right. For the first time, for the second time. Yes, sir. Second time. So I got to really see myself on film and see what I'm about, see what I could do. I saw a lot of things that I didn't like. I saw a lot of the corrections that my trainer Glenn has been talking about. Just seeing the first time, I saw my progression through a fight.
5:48For the first round, second round, sixth round. Everything kind of made sense because in the fight, I mean, you all know you box, so you know how life feels after this fifth round. Everybody comes to fight in the first round, and fifth, sixth round, that's where the champions come out. So I saw my progression in the sixth round, and I saw how just watching the fight, I could imagine, I could remember what I felt at that time and why I wasn't doing the things that I was doing. So I came back from that, you know, went back to work. You know, I had a meeting with my whole entire team. Everybody shared what it was about.
6:19I kind of shared what I was thinking and what I was doing and how I was feeling and why I didn't do certain things that they were asking me to do. And from there, I just put in the work. I'm in a much better space now. Got all the sparring I need. I was with Tyson Fury the other last week. I was sparring with Dronev, Luis Ortiz, Nesto Santana. Just everybody just kind of came through to help me with this fight, Just knowing the magnitude of what we're about to deal with here in Vegas. Yeah, most definitely. How long have you been fighting? You been a fighter your whole life? Absolutely not. I played basketball, man.
6:51I know you from basketball days. So I came to America, the Jordan Classic. I played from Jordan Classic in 2008. Oh, you played in that? Yeah, I did. Oh, yeah? With Sam Raider Samuels, Brandon Jennings. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, so that's how I... I'm from Basketball Outer Borders, Jordan Classic. I played back. I went to Sunrise Christian Academy, Kansas. I played with Buddy Heald. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Then from Bedway to Versa Miami, played basketball.
7:21Joe Johnson:I went to the U, Ocho. You went to the U? You was at the crib? Yeah, I did, man. Come on. I'm from Tropical Park. What's wrong with you, bro? Oh, that's right. Oh, I'm tripping. That's right. Oh, my goodness. No, it is Donald. Pedro. Yeah, Pedro. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. We used to train in the same gym.
7:39Shannon Sharpe:I mean, we don't see very many boxers, basketball players, turn boxers. Normally it's just football players. Yeah, I mean, that was my journey. You know, from basketball, because I played with Jim Laranega in basketball for four years, I went to the Final Four, not Final Four, sorry, Sweet 16 with Shane Larkin and them guys. After that, I went to Algo and called me up to football. I played football for the U. I wasn't in the final on the team, but I was in practice squad. So I played wide receiver there for 2014 with Phillip Dorsett. Yeah, okay, yeah, yeah. And them guys, Chikulo and them guys.
8:21Then from there, the Miami Dolphins called me up. Damn. I was there with them for training camp with the Tannehill, right, and Tannehill and them guys. Yeah. And I got cut. Your boy was depressed for a long time. For about six months, got a job. I was just a miserable guy. Then I decided to go to boxing. Bro, you talented as hell.
8:40Shannon Sharpe:I mean, think about it. You played basketball. I do things, bro. I don't know. I do things. Did it come easy? But there ain't a whole lot of people. Think about what you just said. You came on Basketball Without Borders. So you make the Jordan Classic. You play college basketball. You play NFL. You know, you make it go to the practice squad of the NFL football and now you're a professional boxer. But there ain't a whole lot of people that got a journey like that. My dad was a professional soccer player. My mom was a sprinter. So I got it from somewhere. You know, so I mean, I just do things. Unfortunately, the things I do are athletic, I guess.
9:14So it's not easy for me. Just something I'm just willing to do. Yeah. And my dad is the kind of guy who is like, go ahead and do it. You know, I had a fight, I think, two years ago where I got knocked out cold. Right. I called my dad, I'm like, yo, bro, this vaccine is not for me, bro. My dad was like, are you serious? Like, he was like, are you serious? Like, do you know how much people talk about me because of you? You better get your ass back in the gym and go figure it out. So that's the kind of mindset, the kind of people that I grew up around. I grew up with a dad who played professional soccer in Nigeria, played with the best of them back in the day.
9:47So I always had that encouragement to always go back and do the best. And maybe one day I'm going to be a swimmer. Who knows?
9:52Chad Johnson:Hey, so who influenced your boxing? Like, where did your boxing style come from? Give us a couple cats. I watch a lot. When I started boxing, I watched Lennox Lewis. Okay. Growing up, I watched Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis. Lennox Lewis was my favorite boxer because when I was 7, 8, that was the guy who was popping. So watching him and just watching his aura, the way he stood, the way he, you know, he's just dominant. That kind of swayed me into it. So from watching Lennox, went into watching Floyd. Triple G was popular when I started. I watched a lot of Anthony Joshua. From there, I watched Crawford.
10:34Crawford's latest guy. I watched now. Errol Spence was my guy at one point. Just getting the skills from different people. Marvin Hagler, I've, his, my, you know, just watching the old school guys and watching just trying to pick different things from different places. I'm fortunate to have a trainer, Glenn Johnson, the road warrior. So watching him, just listening to him every single day, there is a blessing that comes from that. So my style is from different people. And when it's all said and done, I'm going to create my own personal style. Oh, okay.
11:05Chad Johnson:So what can we expect from you Saturday night in the ring? Well, I have 19 wins, 18 knockouts. So... And I haven't really knocked somebody out in a long time. You feeling like it this weekend, huh? Yeah, I'm feeling a little dangerous. I see it. I see it in your eyes. I see it. You look determined. You look focused. You look ready. I don't feel too good, bro. I'm like, yeah. But, yeah, hopefully, you know, I pray for safety for everybody. My goal is for everybody to go back home safely to their family. Yeah. But at the end of the day, don't forget, this is a kill sport. Yeah. Right. We get paid to do damage in a box ring in front of the crowd.
11:43You and hurt business. Exactly. You know what I'm saying. So, yeah, we're going to get it right. Right. But you're going to see a good fight. At the best, on the best case scenario, you're going to see a good fight. Okay. In a spectacular case scenario, you see what I do best. Okay.
11:59Joe Johnson:I like it. Where was camp? You here at camp in Miami? You was in Miami?
12:02Shannon Sharpe:Yes, sir. Okay. How difficult is it for you to remain? This is going to probably, more people are going to watch you in this fight, in any other fight, because you're on this card right here. And I know you want to make a great showing, because you want to show the world that, hey, this is who I am. This is what I'm capable of doing. And you got a chance to witness one of the great up-and-coming fighters. What does that mean? How do you stay focused and like, bro, I'm still getting in the ring. I still got to fight. Regardless of who the headline is, I still got to do my job. Well, experience comes a lot, you know.
12:35My first loss, I fought the Russian. The Russian, I'm number five WBC heavyweight champion. Yes, I was feeling myself, right? There are probably fights I maybe should not have taken, but I'm glad I took that fight because, obviously, if you're not fighting the best, what are you doing in this sport? My mind was everywhere. I was thinking, what am I going to do? What kind of jab am I going to throw? I just didn't know what to do. It was on ESPN, Bright Lights, Main Stage, National TV. Everybody was watching me. I got stopped. It kind of sucked. I was kind of depressed for a few months, but came back to it.
13:12what I'm trying to say here is that I've seen the bright lights in boxing, not in the sports, but in the boxing. So now my job is to go and do my job. Ignore the noise. Coach, I'll go to him back in the days and say, ignore the noise, ignore the noise. And that all just plays into my head. Everything else is noise. Go in there, knock the man out, and celebrate after. That's my job. Go in there, ignore the noise, do what you need to do. If my phone is buzzing, someone take care of it. I mean, I'm grateful I have a coach who's kind of a famous guy, so all the noise goes to him. So that's beneficial for me, right?
13:48I'm not the main guy in my team. My coach is the kind of guy on the team. So that helps a lot, you know?
13:54Shannon Sharpe:And you happen to be married to someone that's as famous, if not more famous, than you. You didn't even tell us that. That was a long time ago, bro. What's your name? Agumake. Oh, yeah? That's been over for quite some time now. What? No, that was an old story. We just moved forward. Okay. My bad. Yeah. My bad. I'm sorry. It's all good. I didn't mean to bring that up. It was great right last time. It was the best thing ever, but we moved forward. So now you're – but I just can't believe how talented you are, bro. That's talent. Yeah. To be able to do what you – at that level. Yeah. We're not talking about no 11, 12-year-old.
14:32Shannon Sharpe:We're talking about grown men sports. We're talking about collegiate basketball. We're talking about NFL football. We're talking about professional prize fighting. Do you realize what you've done? Again, my daddy played basketball. My daddy played soccer. Professional mom was a sprinter. So I don't know. I just do things. Right. And it just happened to be things that people clap for. I don't see it like that. But maybe one day I will. I just do things. You know, life is, I mean, I also come from the U. You know, the U. Oh, you do. You know how that works. So we just do things. The Rock, Shanna, everybody.
15:07We just do things. And when we do things, when we do them and do them with the grind and with the mindset that we're going to be the best, unfortunately, or fortunately, we just happen to be the best or very good at what we do. So it's an amazing program. I love the U. I mean, there's no better place I would have gone to school. The people we're around, the people that we see, the people we talk to, the people we see every day. I mean, it's just an amazing place. And the things that they teach us, you know, the people that come around, you know, hopefully by the grace of God, within the next few months, I'll be a heavyweight champion of the world and I can come back and, you know, show the next generation that, hey, man, I did it, Dwayne Johnson did it, Warren Sapp did it.
15:48Ray Lewis. Ray Lewis did it. Everybody did it. So you two can do it. Adrian James can do it. Everybody can do it, you know. So the next generation, it just continues the tradition. It's our job now to mentor the next generation. The older generation has mentored us, you know, the next generation. It's our job to now do the work for the next one and just keep the tradition alive.
16:06Shannon Sharpe:So when you win this fight on Saturday night, come back on Nightcap and tell us how you did it. Absolutely. Thank you, bro. Thank you very much, sir.
16:12Joe Johnson:Good to see you, boy. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Yeah, you was with Tyrone Spong and them guys. Yeah, yeah. I been telling them, they don't believe I could box, man. I been telling them. No, you can box. No, I'm not even trying to cap. You can actually box. Yeah, his chin is suspect. Yeah.
16:28Shannon Sharpe:Appreciate you, bro. All right, bro.
16:30Chad Johnson:Yes, sir.
16:31Shannon Sharpe:All the best, man. Good luck on Saturday.
16:34Chad Johnson:Hey, man.
16:36Shannon Sharpe:What we got?

17:21Chad Johnson:You need some water or something to chase it, bro. You ain't.
17:24Joe Johnson:They got water.
17:26Chad Johnson:They got water. Maybe a little Coke. Hey, I know one thing. If you're an athlete and you mix it with another one, boy, you're going to get something, huh? You hear me? That man done played all kinds of sports.
17:41Shannon Sharpe:And he's like, he don't even realize what he's done. Bro, this man made an NFL roster on the practice squad. This man played in the Grand Jordan Classic. Yeah, played Grand Jordan Classic with a collegiate basketball player. Now he's a professional fighter. I mean, hell, he probably could hit a baseball.
18:03Chad Johnson:I wouldn't put it past him. Hey, his mom was sprinter. Yeah. He got some genetics now. Dad played.

18:45Joe Johnson:I don't need all that shit, man. I don't need all that, bro.
18:47Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, you need it. Hey, where this came from?
18:53Chad Johnson:Let me get one of those. Yeah, yeah. All right, now. Yeah, he doing too much. You got to slow it down, man. You know the man get out of control now.
19:03Shannon Sharpe:Too glizzy? I think one of them strawberry smoothies, though.
19:10Chad Johnson:No, hell no, I don't want one. Hey, you still ain't had none to drink, bro. You need to slow down, Turbo. You moving a little too fast. I'm good, Joe. Look at the end poking out the breeze. Watch with his bike first. Watch with his bike. Look at him. What? You think about it?
19:23Shannon Sharpe:Joe, look what it is. Joe, look what it is.
19:27Chad Johnson:Hey, you got to chill, bro. You got to chill. Hey, look at him. Oh, man. He's clean. Oh, man. Come on, man. Come on, man. But, hey, hey, hey. Joe, I want nobody to do it with me. Chad already know you freaking out. They already know. Look, look, look, look. They trying to break it up. All right. Man, they're bad to eat here.
19:47Shannon Sharpe:Hey, y 'all are tripping, man. But the Bradley Beal situation, Joe, you make look. I understand. Man, when they were sending him home, obviously we're not going to be on the best turn. But it does lighten the blow. It lightens the blow a little bit if you tell me, you know what, that number three, we're going to put it up in the rack. Ain't nobody else going to be able to wear that number.
20:06Chad Johnson:Yeah. Like, now if you CP, he probably, hell, he probably like Jaden Daniels. Yeah. Man, cut ties. Man, I don't even want to deal with y 'all. Straight up. Nah, for real. Because if you done told me you're going to retire my number, not Bradley Beal wearing it. Yeah. Come on, bro. And this is a big season for Bradley Beal, Uncle Ocho. It's a huge season. You know, considering the fact that since he left Washington, bro, he hadn't been an all-star caliber player since. Not even close. He had a short stand in Phoenix. It didn't go great. Now he's in with the Clippers, and we know what they need desperately.
20:35Chad Johnson:Yeah. You know what I mean? Considering the fact what they've lost probably over the next five or seven years without having picks, they need guys who are going to be able to step up and play and play big.
20:44Shannon Sharpe:Well, they're big three, so they're going to need Darius Garland. They're going to need B.I., and they're going to need Bradley Bill. They're going to need Bradley Beal to be the Bradley Beal to average 30 points a game with the Wizards.
20:54Chad Johnson:They're going to need that Bradley Beal. Nah, they ain't going to get that one. Nah, they may get a Bradley Beal who could probably get them by 20, 21 a game. I'm just keeping it realistic. You know what I mean?
21:04Shannon Sharpe:But they need to have three 20 points. In order for them to have success, they're going to need to have three 20-point scores.
21:08Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah, I agree. In order for them to have some success in the West because it's so tough and it's so star-driven. You know, I'm talking about the first six slots.
21:18Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. You got San Antonio. You got OKC. You got Denver. You got Minnesota. Houston. Houston. That's five right there. You didn't say Lakers. I didn't say Lakers. That's six. Yeah, so, hey, Golden State. If Steph Curry's healthy, Steph Curry's going to have something to say.
21:39Chad Johnson:It's going to be tough, man. It's going to be tough for them Clippers in their West. But, yeah, I think, bro, this is a very important year for B-Bill, considering the fact I know he wants to get back to that all-star caliber guy. I don't even know. I don't know if that's possible in the West. It's going to be tough. You got to be playing great ball, not only individually, but as a team. And look at the guards. Yeah. You got Ant-Man. You got Shea. You got Luka. Yeah, you got Castle.
22:06Shannon Sharpe:You got Murray.
22:09Chad Johnson:Yeah.
22:09Shannon Sharpe:Oh, yeah. Woo! And Harper, we don't know if he's going to start it. He's still going to come off the bench. Darren Fox was an all-star? Yeah. Yeah. But the guards are loaded. You got to be different now. You definitely got to be different. And the bigs, you go with obviously the bigs, Yoke, Wimby. Yeah.
22:32Chad Johnson:Man. It ain't, it ain't, it's going to be hard to compete with that. Because they lost, the Clippers lost Zubac. They traded Zubac here in Indiana. So you don't have that huge presence up under the gold.
22:47Shannon Sharpe:But you know what? I would feel some type of way, too. If you told me that you were going to retire my jersey and then I look up there and I see somebody in it, I'd feel some type of way. Yeah, I will, too. I ain't finna sit here and tell my wife, it wouldn't matter to me. It wouldn't matter. It wouldn't matter. Now, had you not told me anything, okay, cool. But if you told me that's what you're going to do, and then I turn around and I see somebody in that jersey, yeah, I'd feel some type of way.
23:09Chad Johnson:Yeah, I'm going to feel a way, too, bro. That's why I say we don't know what they told Jaden Daniels because it's the same situation. Man, as the player, yeah, you're going to be taken back behind that. Yeah, and what we got to now?
23:24Shannon Sharpe:What we got? What we got? I guess we just got anything. We got any other topics? Hey, I know a good topic. You talking about Bradley? I got one. I know a good topic.
23:37Joe Johnson:What? Dana said he got something for me.
23:40Shannon Sharpe:I mean, hey. Joe, they kill you with them shorts. Bye-bye, Masha. That's okay. That's okay.
23:45Chad Johnson:Hey, look, I can't help God took his time with me. I can't help it.
23:50Shannon Sharpe:Hey. Hey, he took his time with them shorts, too, because he didn't have no more material.
23:55Chad Johnson:Hey, listen, I know we can talk about those Sheldon, the tennis player. Oh, Ben. Ben. I watched it. You hit me up. Did you say it all the way up? I watched it all the way up. I hit, I hit, I said, man, you watch this probably about what?
24:06Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. If it was East Coast. It was probably about 11.45 when you hit me. It was late. They didn't go off until like 3.30, 3.35. I fell asleep. Well, 12.35. You fell asleep too?
24:17Chad Johnson:I fell asleep. I fell asleep. Well, boy, when I'm talking about them boys was hitting, that left-hand Sheldon guy, his backhand done got better. Yeah. You bought a sofa you didn't have to assemble, a suit someone measured just for you, and now you're taking a guy's trip that actually matters. 26:41Shannon Sharpe:This all-around game was impeccable. But that last one, I was like, bro, he about to crank this up. He finna jump out of his shoes on this one. He had that last ace was probably about 144 to 146. I was like, man.
26:55Chad Johnson:Ain't nobody returning. And it ain't like he was playing no slouch. No, no. He ran number two flat?
27:00Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, Alcaraz. Alcaraz, that boy's neck.
27:02Joe Johnson:He's just coming off a wrist injury. All four months. This is his first time back.
27:07Shannon Sharpe:This is your best chance for somebody to win a major because Alcaraz is out and Senna did not even join it. And guess what? All things being equal, this is going to be the first time. We're going to have an American male in the finals of a championship. He'll be the first African-American since Maliby Washington went back in 1996 at Wimbledon. So we're talking about 30 years since we've had a black American male in the finals. Right. We got to go back to the last time we've had, what, potentially have an American to win a major would be Andy Roddick in 2003. He won this very U.S. Open. So it doesn't happen often.
27:46Shannon Sharpe:No.
27:47Chad Johnson:And for that match to go four hours and 30 minutes, and that man still serving at 146 miles per hour, through that duration, it tells you a lot about his conditioning, And the way he approached the game. Yes. It was impressive to watch, bro. It was so impressive.
28:02Joe Johnson:I think tennis players, especially those at the highest level, their conditioning might be up there with MMA and soccer and boxing. Because you playing tennis four hours, it ain't like you standing in one spot four hours. You moving left and right and, man. Up, back.
28:17Shannon Sharpe:And the thing is now, they got the clock on you. They'll be letting you take your time and go wipe your face and wave to the crowd and go get you a drink and everything. They got that clock on you. And they got that in baseball, too. Yeah, they got the 36-clock.
28:31Joe Johnson:Because the pitchers be taking all that damn time.
28:31Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, they got time for all that, man. Pitch the ball, man. Who we get up out of here? And hit us, too. They be pulling up with the gloves. Okay. Man, get your ass in the battle box and hit them the elbow, man. Ain't nobody got time for you to be doing all that. But, man, this is going to be a great fight. I can't wait to see. Look, Ocho and I, Joe, this is probably your first time being here. But Ocho and I, we've done a couple of these. and everybody come out and say the same thing. They're going to do this, they're going to do that, and then they get in the ring and don't do none of what they say.
29:03Shannon Sharpe:I'm looking at some of these guys. I believe them. Yeah. I believe them this time around. I believe they're going to do what they say they're going to do. Exactly, yeah.
29:10Chad Johnson:I tell you what, Conor Venn, he seemed convincing to me. Yeah. He seemed convincing to me. He seemed like a guy who's ready and prepared for the fight. Obviously, you know, the way he came in and talked about how he's going to impose his will, I'm looking forward to that, bro.
29:24Shannon Sharpe:I want to see it. Yeah, I'm looking forward to it.
29:25Joe Johnson:And I'm surprised Vegas has Conor Bennett as the underdog.
29:28Shannon Sharpe:He's decided the underdog.
29:30Joe Johnson:I'm not, well, let me be quiet.
29:36Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. But, hey, when I saw it down with Ryan, Ryan said he's at the speed. He said he ain't ready for it. He ain't never seen speed like this. Yeah. He ain't never seen power.
29:45Joe Johnson:Even as fast as Ryan is, you know, you talk to anybody that's been in combat sports, one thing that beats speed is timing.
29:51Shannon Sharpe:Yes.
29:52Joe Johnson:Once he catches rhythm, the way you fight and the way you throw it, I mean, as fast as you are, it means nothing. That's how Marquez caught Pacquiao.
29:58Shannon Sharpe:Bingo. He timed him up perfect because he knows Pacquiao like him.
30:01Joe Johnson:That bounce, that bounce, yeah, see, timing.
30:03Shannon Sharpe:One, two, one, bam.
30:05Joe Johnson:Once you catch a rhythm, then that speed means nothing.
30:07Chad Johnson:Yeah, I want to see if Ryan has, you know, gotten better with his ring IQ versus just trying to use his speed and come with that hook every time. Man, people are going to be sitting on there, bro. They're going to cut your lights out real quick. And his conditioning.
30:44you
30:45Shannon Sharpe:You said cuz he was overweight when he yeah, I think sometimes they'd be Debbie Debbie try to make this try to sell it I ain't even train hard not beat you. Oh Man, that be like me and Ocho say, man, you know what? I ain't even practice this whole week. I was at home. The coach sent me home for the whole week. And, boy, that's a lie. You know you ain't finna come out here and kill no damage.
31:05Joe Johnson:Is there more hot dogs?
31:07Shannon Sharpe:Nah, they good. They gone.
31:09Joe Johnson:Animal?
31:10Shannon Sharpe:I don't know.
31:11Joe Johnson:You trying to gobble down another one? Animal hot dogs? I'm a hot dog.
31:18Shannon Sharpe:Chad, I'm sorry.
31:20Joe Johnson:That's it?
31:22Shannon Sharpe:Oh, man. Chad, I'm sorry.
31:29Joe Johnson:wait is that somebody's you sure George you want it no no
31:42yeah you go I guess
31:46Shannon Sharpe:I guess nobody want me to have no smoothie huh yeah the strawberry with pineapples yeah You want a beer? No, hell no. I mean, I'm good. I'm good. This man thought I wanted a hot dog. Ain't no hot dog in 30 years. So you want this other half? No, no, no. I'm good. All right.
32:06Joe Johnson:Hey, Chad. Y 'all want some hot dogs?
32:08Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, it's like strawberry, mango, pineapple, banana. I think that's what's in it. Hey, them used to be birthday go-tos as a kid. Yeah, but yeah.
32:16Joe Johnson:You know that Glenn Johnson?
32:17Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Light heavy.
32:18Joe Johnson:Fort Roy?
32:19Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.
32:19Joe Johnson:Yeah.
32:20Shannon Sharpe:He knocked Roy out. Unfortunately, he knocked Roy out. Roy was on the ring trying to do the rope-a-dope and he got one through there.
32:27Chad Johnson:My man right here? Yeah.
32:28Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Yeah. Nah, I'm good. Joe got that weak-ass bladder.
32:37Chad Johnson:That's why they finna be running to the bathroom.
32:41Joe Johnson:I just pee back here.
32:44Shannon Sharpe:Oh, no.
32:45Joe Johnson:You should get that little cup, Joe. Get a little water bottle. Save your time.
32:49Shannon Sharpe:Nah, the bathroom right out the door. It's close by.
32:53Joe Johnson:Where you been at? Hey, you seen Andre Ward? Hey, let him know. I'm looking for him. Yeah, where is he at? Where's Dre at? Oh, he's here?
33:05Shannon Sharpe:I know Tarvin's supposed to be stopping by, too.
33:09Joe Johnson:Hey, see Andre Ward. I'm with his ass. Come on. You good, Martin?
33:17Shannon Sharpe:How can I meet you? What's up, bro? How you doing? Everything good? Good, good, good. Go ahead, Ocho. Huh? Huh? I ain't got nothing on here. Oh, okay. Magsayo. Pronounce that last name. Magsayo. Magsayo. Magsayo. Magsayo. Magsayo. 29-2, 19 kills. What can we expect out of this fight?
33:44Joe Johnson:Oh, you're going to expect... They got fireworks.
33:47Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.
33:48Joe Johnson:Fireworks. Like, yeah. He's undefeated, but I'm more experienced. I'm more stronger and better than him. This is my prime. This is my way. Yeah.
33:56Shannon Sharpe:Let's go.
33:57Joe Johnson:Yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. How was camp? How was camp? Did you camp good? Eight weeks camp is good because after my fight last April 5th, I win knockout. And then I know that he's my next opponent. Right. So after that one-week rest, I train. You took one week off after your last fight in April? Yeah, just one week off because I am a disciplined guy. Right, right. I don't drink. I don't do party. Just family. Just locked in. Just locked in. Right.
34:28Chad Johnson:What's your fighting style? Give us your fighting style. I can do brawl.
34:31Joe Johnson:I can do technique style, whatever, who comes in me. I mean, I just.
34:39Shannon Sharpe:Okay. You grew up in the Philippines. Yes. So, obviously, Manny Pac-Man. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
34:45Joe Johnson:I've been on the card of Pacquiao two times. Okay. I fought here in Timmobile Arena. I win knockout of the year of Delphi, you see. And then that was 2021 when he fought August. Right.
34:59Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. So you looking to turn the lights out of the building. When you go into the – you ain't trying to go to the judges' cards. You trying to make no doubt about it that you get your hand raised
35:10Joe Johnson:before we get to the judges. Yeah, we're trying to win every round or knockout. So win every round or the opportunity, the knockout is a bonus.
35:22Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Yeah, Cortez is younger than you, but you would have the city and undefeated. How motivated are you to silence it because, you know, hey, he's home.
35:30Joe Johnson:It's good. No, it's my home too. I live here now. Okay, okay. I have a lot of properties here, so it's my home now, Las Vegas. Yes, so it's good that I have my whole back, my Filipinos. Yes. They supported me here. Yeah. My last previous fight, a lot of Filipinos. I'm so happy. And for this fight, for me and Cortez, he's going to taste a defeat. You'll taste a defeat, huh? He's going to taste a defeat. I like it. He never fought a guy like me. Never fought a guy like me. More experience. I fight Gary Russell Jr., the longest-running champion in WBC. Right. and then we fall hard and I win. Yeah, I fall like good fighters.
36:13Joe Johnson:I don't want to go too far in advance before this fight starts, but you're very confident that you're going to win this fight. I'm confident that you're going to win this fight. I've watched you fight before, very skillful, very good. After this fight, who is somebody you'd like to see next? And I don't mean to ask about future opponents, but I'm just curious, is there anybody that's on your radar? I'm looking, I'm aiming the belt, the Zuba belt. I think Rayo, we're going to fight Rayo. After this fight, we're going to fight Rayo. He's good. He's good, he's strong. I like it. The stronger, the better.
36:49Joe Johnson:Yeah, that'd be a good fight. Okay.
36:50Shannon Sharpe:Did you always want to be a fighter?
36:52Joe Johnson:Always. Here.
36:56Chad Johnson:From a kid?
36:57Joe Johnson:I started boxing at eight. At eight? Eight years old. Yeah. I inspired training. I inspired training because of Pacquiao.
37:05Shannon Sharpe:Right. Yeah. So Pacquiao, he's a hero in the Philippines. He's a hero. He's a hero in the Philippines. He's a legend. You ever met Pacquiao? You ever talked to him?
37:16Joe Johnson:No, we talked. I undercut his fight. Yeah. Yeah. When I'm undercut in his fight, it's a dream come true. Wow. Before, I was just a kid looking at him, hero. Yeah. Watching him on the TV. Yeah. Now I'm one of the, he's undercut before. Wow. Dream come true.
37:35Chad Johnson:Yeah, that's good. Hey, the guy you fight and he's undefeated, is being undefeated kind of overrated in boxing?
37:43Joe Johnson:Yeah, he has a lot of fight of cherry-picked opponents. Oh, he cherry-picked his opponent. I saw a lot of fights. The losses are a lot. Yeah. He never fought a guy. He ain't fought nobody like you, though. Right, right. More experienced. Right. And I fight a good fighter, a good Mexican fighter, knockout artist or brawler like Pegorov, like Vargas, Gary Russell, Holyosea.
38:08Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.
38:09Joe Johnson:They're a good fighter. And then I win. Some of them I lost because of my rehydration, but no, what do you call this? No excuses. There's no rehydration in this fight, right? No rehydration. Now I'm comfortable in my weight. Okay. 135 pounds. Now I'm 136. I can eat. I can train.
38:30Chad Johnson:Tomorrow, let's wait and then eat. So what's your walk-around weight? What do you normally walk?
38:35Joe Johnson:My normal walking weight is like 146, 147. Oh, okay.
38:38Shannon Sharpe:So you don't have to really tax your body to make weight because you're walking around sub 150 and trying to make 135. So eight weeks is a breeze for you.
38:47Joe Johnson:12 pounds over, 12 pounds. And then when I train, 9 pounds. And then when I cut my carbs, I like rice. Yeah. And when I cut my carbs, the weight goes down.
38:58Shannon Sharpe:What went into the decision of you joining supper boxing?
39:01Joe Johnson:Superboxing is the best, man. Like, I never treated like this. I never treated like this. Like, everything is there. The food, the platform in Paramount. Yeah. I feel like a champ.
39:14Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Yeah, I feel like a champ. Wow. Oh, wow. Thank you, sir. Bro, thank you, man. Good luck on Saturday.
39:20Joe Johnson:Yes, sir. I'm going to do my best to enjoy you. Good luck. To entertain you. I'll see you Saturday. Thank you, thank you. Thank you, man. Thank you for having me. No, thank you for coming on. You need a sparring partner. I'm here, okay?
39:33Chad Johnson:Hey, hey, Ojo, buddy might be a little small, but boy, he probably got some dynamite. Hey, Joe, he can go, boy. Yeah, he got some hands. I can tell. He can go. You heard what he said? One key thing he said to me was discipline. Yeah. Very disciplined. Yeah. Hey, hey, hey, hey. You don't party. You don't hang out. You hear about it? Family. Yeah. You might want to leave him alone. You don't bother with that shit.
39:53Joe Johnson:He a volume puncher, too. Yeah. He's a shitload of punches around. Yeah.
39:56Chad Johnson:Is that typical for them Filipino kind of... The small you are most of the time. Yeah, the small you are. Because I know pack out here. The more punches you go.
40:02Shannon Sharpe:The more punches you go around. Because look at it. You don't need a whole lot of oxygen to fuel that body. Right. You start getting on up there, 168, 175, 205. It's a little different. You better save some of that.
40:16Joe Johnson:You punch yourself out. Yeah, be out of hand. Yeah. And you go anaerobic in there, don't worry about it.
40:22Shannon Sharpe:It won't be long. It won't be long.
40:30Shannon Sharpe:We got Ryan Garcia coming on at 2.30. I sat down with Ryan. Yeah, what did he say? Man, he was out of his mind. He called, he was talking crazy about everybody. Yeah. Talking crazy about Shakur. Talking crazy about Bud. Bud, yeah. Talking crazy about Ben. Talking crazy. And before, I was like, I wonder what Ben's relationship is to Nigel Ben. Because I remember his dad, the Dark and Destroyer. Yeah. I remember him fighting. Yeah. I said, I wonder what relationship that he is. And come to find out. And he says, hey, he didn't know that was his dad until he was like 16, 17 years old.
41:01Joe Johnson:That's crazy.
41:02Shannon Sharpe:And then he started fighting. That's been in him, and he didn't know why.
41:07Joe Johnson:Yeah.
41:08Shannon Sharpe:That's crazy.
41:09Joe Johnson:That's a great story, too. That's a great story.
41:13Shannon Sharpe:This moved it real good. Here, Joe.
41:15Chad Johnson:Yeah.
41:15Shannon Sharpe:I got to hit a quick 50.
41:17Chad Johnson:Go ahead. You got to hit what? Quick 50. Them dogs.
41:25Shannon Sharpe:Don't get down for your crown. Make sure you turn your butt away from the camera with them little ass shorts on.
41:36Chad Johnson:Make sure you breathe. He doing shorty. He doing shorty. He trying to get that pump.
41:41Shannon Sharpe:He done had three hot dogs, so he tried to get it off. Probably about 50. He ate three hot dogs, Dana. So he tried to get it off him. He got to do 50.
41:54Chad Johnson:Hey, Dana watching too. He's trying to see what type of condition you're in before he puts you out there now. Breathe. Make sure you're breathing now. He needed what you call it? Yeah. Make sure you're breathing. Yeah. He trying to do 100. Now he's trying to show out. I mean, you got it. Yeah. Yeah.
42:13Joe Johnson:Hey, Dana, don't forget about my fight.
42:19Chad Johnson:Okay.
42:20Joe Johnson:I don't have your number. I got it. Okay. He's not going to give it to me.
42:26Chad Johnson:All right.
42:29Joe Johnson:Hey, nightcap boxing, baby. It's almost here.
42:33Chad Johnson:All right, now.
42:36Joe Johnson:Hey, Joe, can you imagine? Y 'all, y 'all, when I walk to the ring, y 'all going to walk me out? Yeah, that's too far for me. I'll be in my chair.
42:48Shannon Sharpe:Man, I walk no farther than I have to walk, man. They already, hey, they see me walking out there limping. They like, yeah, he about to get two up.
43:01Joe Johnson:Boy, I feel good, bro.
43:03Shannon Sharpe:Man, little dude look ferocious. That only man. Yeah, hell yeah. But I still can't get over the Nigerian dude, man. Basketball, football. I'm looking at him, Joe. I'm like, man, that man's like a basketball player. Yeah. Man done played every sport. But when you got tall, you got power. Because you can generate power. Mm-hmm. And genetics, bro. You know who he kind of built like? Who? You remember Michael Grant, the heavyweight? Michael Grant.
43:38Joe Johnson:Michael Grant.
43:38Shannon Sharpe:He ended up losing. I remember the name. He ended up losing to Lennox. But he was like 6 '7". But when you got that kind of height, and you can put that kind of power, generate that kind of power behind it.
43:52Chad Johnson:Yeah. That's why I'm trying to tell Ocho, man. I don't know why he started barking up that tree. Who? Joe, you heard the first thing he said? What? What he's saying?
44:00Joe Johnson:When he was sitting here before he got up?
44:01Chad Johnson:What he's saying?
44:02Joe Johnson:Where that boy Ocho could bark. You hear me?
44:05Chad Johnson:But he said he's chin suspect. He did say he chin was suspect.
44:08Joe Johnson:Yeah, that's, that's, that don't mean nothing.
44:10Chad Johnson:And, and we, we really in two different weight classes, but since you've been running your mouth a little bit.
44:15Joe Johnson:I don't care about weight class because my hand's registered, Joe. All right. If I was to hit you right now, you could get me sitting in jail.
44:23Chad Johnson:Because your hand's registered?
44:25Joe Johnson:You know, I'm licensed, Joe. I had to be licensed or the box.
44:28Chad Johnson:Why this man think he's going to be able to get off on me?
44:33Joe Johnson:All right, he done told you already, Joe. I ain't going to say nothing else to him. All right. Joe, you eating a hot dog, too?
44:38Shannon Sharpe:I don't... Hey, hey. Joe done had him cut up a hot dog and put it between two. A bone. It's a sandwich. Hot dog is not a sandwich. I don't care what nobody say. Who ordered them hot dogs? Hey, thank you.
44:56Joe Johnson:All three of them shits was good.
44:58Shannon Sharpe:Chad, I'm sorry, Chad.
45:00Chad Johnson:Damn. Nah, I'm Gucci, bro. I'm straight. I'm straight.
45:04Joe Johnson:Hey, ass, them hot dogs good, bro. Yeah.
45:10Shannon Sharpe:I'ma hit him. I'ma hit Dana. him. Might go gambling. Dana gonna be in the high rolling.
45:18Chad Johnson:You're gonna have to bring about 10 bands with you, if not more.
45:21Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, Dana gonna come in there with no band. Dana get marker. I don't want no marker. Oh, yeah, because you're gonna be in the bowl. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. I don't want no marker. Whatever I come with, if I lose it, I'm good. You heard what he said? Whatever you're comfortable with, lose it. I'm only comfortable with losing a couple of thousand. Yeah. Maybe five. Five, I'm still gonna be able to sleep comfortable. Yeah. Man, I'll be, boy, I'll be mad. Boy, I tell my own damn house I lose 50, 50, 100 bands. Man, it's been amazing right here to sit down and talk to the guys. It has, man. Everybody look like I said.
45:57Shannon Sharpe:The last guy was like, hey, he walks around, and that's what I tell people about Floyd. Floyd is not a naturally big man. So, Floyd probably, Floyd making 147, Floyd walking around at 150,
46:08Chad Johnson:152. Yep, yep. That's who do remind you of, because Floyd discipline like that too. You know, the way But he don't do none of that party, smoke. I mean, well, he'll party, but he ain't going to drink or nothing. He'll go, and then he'll leave there and go straight to the gym. Yeah. You got to appreciate that. I've enjoyed it because we get a chance to see it from a boxer's point of view and the things that they think about, you know, going into the ring, being in the ring. After your game plan don't work and you get hit, you know what I mean? After you bounce back, you're mentally strong. So, for me, I've had a pleasure, man.
46:43Chad Johnson:And I've had the pleasure to interview some of these cats. And I can't wait to see them. I can't wait to see them fight on Saturday.
46:50Shannon Sharpe:Malik Nabors made it clear that his decision, if he'll play on Sunday, is his. He said he feels confident overall, but the game is different, and he wants to make sure he's not rushing. At the end of the day, it's my career, it's my body, and I know when I'm able to play. Take your time, Malik.
47:06Joe Johnson:Sure do. But I don't understand what all that means.
47:10Shannon Sharpe:That means that he's going to make a decision on if he's ready to play. If he don't feel like he's ready to go out there and compete and be able to help the team win, he ain't going out there. He's not going to let the team rush him back out there.
47:20Chad Johnson:And if we just keep it at 100, the man ain't going to be ready week one.
47:23Joe Johnson:Now, he, you know. Hey, talking like that, yeah. Because normally, if you're ready, you got one-word answers. I'm going to see you all Sunday. I'm ready.
47:32Shannon Sharpe:I ain't got to say nothing. You'll see him out there on Sunday.
47:34Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah, he's not ready. Yeah, take your time, young fella. That's all right. Hey, I'll tell you one thing.
47:39Joe Johnson:Old number three going to go over there and handle that thing, though. He going to be all right.
47:43Chad Johnson:Oh, he going to get some catches. Nah, catches? You act like Odell for the guy to go for 150.
47:49Joe Johnson:Joe, he has to be the focal point. He's the only one you can trust. Outside of Darnell Mooney, and Darnell Mooney's not an outside guy. He's an inside guy. So that means Malik's neighbor spot has to be done and taken over by Odell.
48:00Shannon Sharpe:Man.
48:01Joe Johnson:I'm telling you. Watch. Now, don't be surprised Odell have a hundred and some change in the touchdown. I said it first.
48:09Shannon Sharpe:All I know is I'm mad at Yahoo for giving me him. Who? You mean Odell? Malik Nabors. No, Yahoo picked him. Who you with a guy? I don't know. I wouldn't have taken him. If you notice, I didn't take anybody that was coming off injury. Too risky. Yeah. Too risky. Mike, they did something. They got us in what you call the pick, got me picking last.
48:38Chad Johnson:and yeah I felt I should have had top three pick just keep it 100 actually technically it really
48:44Joe Johnson:don't matter where you pick if you know what you're doing when it's time to pick yeah FYI yeah okay I'm just telling you all right we're gonna see
48:52Shannon Sharpe:Matthew Stavis gonna get me off to a great start tonight when he throw for four touchdowns and two
48:56Joe Johnson:I'm gonna be the Pucco wait four touchdowns against the 49ers defense yeah and two I'm gonna be if it was week 10 and week 11, then I would agree with you.
49:06Shannon Sharpe:Don't you worry about what my team going to do. You worry about your team getting beat by Tampa at home.
49:11Joe Johnson:You think we going to lose?
49:13Shannon Sharpe:I should go to the game. I don't care if y 'all lose or not, as long as your guys don't do too much. You should go to what game?
49:20Joe Johnson:Like, leave here on the Red Eye Saturday and go to Cincinnati. Because I land, if I leave here on the Red Eye, I land in Cincinnati, what, 6 in the morning, call the Bengals for a ticket, watch the game and go back to... They do nightcap in Cincinnati. Tuesday off. Fly back to Miami.
49:41Shannon Sharpe:Well, good luck with that.
49:46Joe Johnson:Hey, let's stay here. Let's go to the Raiders-Dolphins game. We already in Vegas. I know. Ocho, I don't know the Raiders. I know them. I know Mr. Davis. I get it. Hey, Joe, you want to go to the game?
49:59Shannon Sharpe:When?
50:00Joe Johnson:They play the Dolphins Sunday.
50:02Shannon Sharpe:The Dolphins? Yeah. You think somebody want to see the guppies? The who? The guppies. The Dolphins.
50:08Joe Johnson:Malik Riz. I'm going to be on watching my cowboy.
50:10Chad Johnson:What time they playing?
50:11Joe Johnson:At 1 o 'clock probably. Well, 10 o 'clock, right, Unk? 10 a.m.?
50:14Chad Johnson:Yep.
50:15Joe Johnson:Yeah, 10 a.m.
50:16Shannon Sharpe:No. They in Miami? No, they playing here. No, they don't play till 4. They play the late game, 1 o 'clock. They play the 1 o 'clock.
50:26Joe Johnson:No, Unk, that would be the 10 a.m. game.
50:28Shannon Sharpe:No, they don't play no 10 a.m. game here. 10 a.m. to it. 1 o 'clock. It'll be the 4 o 'clock game. That's the late game.
50:35Joe Johnson:Okay, okay.
50:36Shannon Sharpe:West Coast game is always at 4.
50:37Joe Johnson:Okay, okay, okay. Well, it shows you how much I know.
50:41Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Who we got? Man, what you calling him at? Where Tarva? Tarva and Tal? Yeah. Because he hit me last night. He talked about he wanted to.
50:53Joe Johnson:Yeah, he told me the same thing. He talked about, oh, I'm not even here.
50:57Shannon Sharpe:How are you talking about you want to be on and you ain't even here?
51:00Joe Johnson:That's what he told me.
51:01Shannon Sharpe:Let me see.
51:06Joe Johnson:I need to hit another 50.
51:22Shannon Sharpe:You sent that to Rio? You sent that to Rio? What you sent me? In my DM. that explains it yeah we good
51:35Joe Johnson:yeah I agree whatever y 'all talking about
51:43Shannon Sharpe:but it ain't gonna be the same
51:50Shannon Sharpe:what we got to talk what y 'all want to talk about I want some
51:55Joe Johnson:more hot dogs
51:56Shannon Sharpe:man ain't nobody they got a hot dog
52:03Huh? Huh?
52:07Shannon Sharpe:I saw people walking down there with floaties and... No. No. Absolutely not.
52:20No.
52:21Shannon Sharpe:Hell no.
52:26Shannon Sharpe:Man, you know what? I hope, what did we see last time? We went to the fight, we saw Bax Holloway, he was fighting somebody, and all he did was get Oliveira. And all Oliveira did was take him down. I hope we don't get no fights like that, Joe, where it was all hype, like, oh, yeah, we're going to see some action, and we're going to see no action. No. But I definitely think Conor and Garcia is going to be some action. Yeah, absolutely. And the little guy that just came on, yeah.
52:59Chad Johnson:There's going to be some action. With them first couple rounds, they're going to be fill-outs. You got to, they're going to try, they ain't coming out swinging.
53:06Joe Johnson:That's why I asked Conner. I said, what version are we, I mean, what version are we going to get? You going to come out guns a-blazing, or you going to come out methodical and feel him out the first couple rounds?
53:16Chad Johnson:I'm matching his energy. Yeah, so they're going to come out, they're going to feel him.
53:20Joe Johnson:Ryan liked to be the aggressive sometimes. when he fought when he first how he made that mistake against tank yes trying to be too aggressive
53:28Chad Johnson:walk right into something twice i think he learned from from from those experiences though you know i mean i think he gonna come out a little more disciplined he'll still you know obviously throw that that hook trying to get him out of that but i don't got him coming i don't got neither one of them coming out just brawling right off dumb probably about third round fourth round probably when you start seeing some guys really you know mixing it up but yeah or when the crowd you know
53:50Shannon Sharpe:Sometimes the crowd get anxious, get anxious, and they be like, man, bro. They start going? Yeah, yeah, man. Hey, it don't take long. It don't take long. They don't want to see all that feeling. Like, here we are in the third or fourth round, that we ain't really seen no punching. Everybody's just fainting and moving around. Yeah, throwing them fainting. Nah, nah. Hey, let your hands go. We want to see people let their hands go. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
54:18Chad Johnson:It's going to be some action. They fighting right here? Yeah, in your gym. Oh, this is what I'm talking about. You know what? Boy, you all right with me? We ain't got to do no more. Come downstairs? That's it. Come on, man. Come on, man.
54:32Shannon Sharpe:That's it.
54:37Shannon Sharpe:But, no, this is going to be a, I think it's going to be an exciting fight. Like I said, I want to see the basketball player fight.
54:44Chad Johnson:I do, too. You know what? I do, too, man. I do, too. That man got 18 KOs at 19 wins. He did. He did say he got flatlined at one time. He said, I got flatlined, so I want to see what he got. But I like that because, you know what, he's like, hey, I got stock.
54:59Shannon Sharpe:I got knock-knock cold. Yeah. He ain't try to hide. He ain't try to run away from it. Yeah. He's like, yeah, I got 19 wins, and I got 18 knockouts and 19 wins. But, hey, nobody got the best of me, too, though. Yeah.
55:13Chad Johnson:Hey, to have 18 knockouts with 19 wins? Yeah. Boy, you ain't playing. You putting pressure on the phone.
55:19Joe Johnson:All that is is also getting knocked out could be a good thing. Now I got to go to the drawing board. I got to go fix some things.
55:26Chad Johnson:Damn, man, I ain't trying to get knocked out. No? I want that O next to my name.
55:30Joe Johnson:Well, you might want to be careful over here then, Joe. Who, who, me and you? I'm just saying, you say you don't want to get knocked out.
55:36Chad Johnson:Yeah, nah, that ain't going to happen, O, Joe. I'm going to keep the O next to my name, man.
55:41Joe Johnson:Okay. I mean, the only O you, I mean, you talk about the J. I mean, after we spell Joe, you know, it's like, you know, J. J. You know?
55:53Chad Johnson:Okay, okay.
55:55Shannon Sharpe:You're going to see it. Because a lot of times, you know, I'm anxious to see what type of Ryan we're going to get. Because sometimes, you know, he's like real laid back, real lethargic, melancholy. And a lot of times, because I called him a couple of weeks ago, and he was upbeat. I mean, if you guys check out the interview on Club J.J. Yeah, yeah. Man, he was full tilt, Joe. Yeah.
56:14Chad Johnson:Full tilt. And you know what? When I was watching that, I was wondering, was he, some of the stuff he was saying, Uncle Ocho, was he just trying to get attention? Because he was calling some cats out. Oh, yeah. Like, he was. He liked that, though, for real.
56:27Joe Johnson:He always been like that.
56:29Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. But you got to give him credit, though. And he's one of the few, Ocho, that he's fought a lot of people. He fought Tank. He fought Devin. He fought Roley. Roley. Yeah. Yeah. He fighting Conor Bean. Hey, you can say what you want to say. He ain't dunking nobody. He ain't coming up with them excuses. Nope. He say he want to fight, say he going to fight Teofimo. If he does that, if he wins this fight here and fight Teofimo. And he beat Teo. I think it'd be a great fight. I was disappointed with Roley. Roley had us, man. Man, Rolick then sold us, came on there, sold us, hook, line, and sinker.
57:15Shannon Sharpe:Man, told us.
57:16Chad Johnson:You should have been more impressed with, uh, who, who, who, who, who, who, who, Rolick? Tia Fimo. Tia Fimo, yeah.
57:23Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.
57:23Chad Johnson:Because I thought he fought a great fight. He did. Yeah. He did. He fought, he fought great. He had that one round to where Rolick got on that round, that fifth round. Outside of that? Outside of that, he didn't really do much. That boy was coming forward the whole fight.
57:37Shannon Sharpe:And what you got, and Rolick didn't seem like he had, it seemed like Rolick was just trying to catch him with the check. Yeah. What do you call Garci? What do you call Garci? 1:01:21Joe Johnson:The bangle going to put it by 42 points. I'm telling you that. It's going to be a beautiful day. Oh, you think so, huh? I know so. Okay. Tampa ain't going to know what hit them.
1:01:31Chad Johnson:You said they're going to put up about 42?
1:01:32Joe Johnson:42, Joe.
1:01:33Chad Johnson:Damn.
1:01:34Joe Johnson:Huh?
1:01:36Chad Johnson:All right.
1:01:49Shannon Sharpe:Man. What we got? What we got, Chad? What would y 'all like to talk about, Chad?
1:01:55Joe Johnson:I feel...
1:01:56Shannon Sharpe:We got Ryan supposed to be here at 2.30. So which is about a minute away. So you ever take a couple of minutes? Wing on. Because he was on, um. It said no. I feel like going. Going. Maybe, nah.
1:02:15Joe Johnson:Going on.
1:02:17Shannon Sharpe:Who? Shane Mosley. Okay. That'll work. Going on. Okay. Hey, Shane fought everybody too. Yeah. I would have whooped Shane, too. If you'd have left Winky right alone. Winky is tough, wasn't it, man? Yeah, Winky. And Vernon Forrest, rest his soul. Yeah.
1:02:47Shannon Sharpe:But, uh, we got Shane Mosley joining us in a few minutes, chat.
1:02:55Joe Johnson:Sugar Shane.
1:02:56Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, making it his way down here.
1:03:03Shannon Sharpe:Man, watch it. Shane, when he fought De La Hoya. I came to that fight when Mayweather fought De La Hoya, Ocho. Did you? I didn't go to that fight.
1:03:14Joe Johnson:That was a good one, too, boy.
1:03:16Shannon Sharpe:What about when Shane fought? No, I ain't going to that. When Shane fought Mayweather, nah. I think I saw him fought when he fought Corrales.
1:03:31Shannon Sharpe:I saw Tyson fight a few times, Holyfield, yeah?
1:03:37Joe Johnson:You been a Tyson fighting person? I know that was a time, yeah boy.
1:03:42Shannon Sharpe:Boy, ain't nothing like it. Ain't nothing like it. You got a heavyweight, the buzz?
1:03:50Shannon Sharpe:Man. Matter of fact, he fought Frank Bruno, knocked Frank Bruno out. Oh yeah, I remember that. Yep. Hmm.
1:04:03That was in April.
1:04:08Shannon Sharpe:That was in April of 96.
1:04:14Joe Johnson:I'm drifting.
1:04:16Shannon Sharpe:What?
1:04:17Joe Johnson:I can eat.
1:04:18Shannon Sharpe:What you doing when you get done with this? Going to bed?
1:04:21Joe Johnson:Yeah. No, I'm going to go eat. I'm going to go to Soul Food Cafe.
1:04:24Shannon Sharpe:Oh.
1:04:24Joe Johnson:Even you just had them three dogs? Yeah, Joe. I got to take care of it. Hey, Joe, I got to feed the body, Joe. There's a reason I look like this, right?
1:04:34Shannon Sharpe:Man, it's like a praying man with a golf suit on me.
1:04:39Joe Johnson:Hey, Joe, I know you see it, but I'm cut up, right? I see. I see. I see. I mean, it look kind of small right now because I'm playing soccer every Sunday, so it's hard to keep that weight on, you know? Yeah. If I wasn't playing soccer, I'd be about 220 right now, Joe.
1:04:52Chad Johnson:Yeah?
1:04:53Joe Johnson:Yeah, you see, I just whipped that 80 straight. That was 80, Joe. Yeah. You know what kind of condition you got to have to be able to do that?
1:05:01Shannon Sharpe:Man told me he did 80 straight.
1:05:03Joe Johnson:That was? I mean, that was.
1:05:04Shannon Sharpe:I don't know.
1:05:05Joe Johnson:That was about 65. Jordan, how many out here? That was about 65, 70. Yeah. Yeah, straight through. Don't lie to him, Jordan. It was.
1:05:15Shannon Sharpe:What? That's how many it was?
1:05:17Joe Johnson:I know I did 50, and I heard Dana was watching that. I went by the extra 20.
1:05:20Shannon Sharpe:You see what I'm saying? Yeah, I went by the extra 20.
1:05:22Joe Johnson:Let him know I was in shape just in case that conversation. but we want you to get in the ring.
1:05:26Chad Johnson:Man, let's go, man.
1:05:28Joe Johnson:Nightcap everything.
1:05:29Chad Johnson:Gotta control that breathing.
1:05:31Joe Johnson:I'm coming in, nightcap, boxing, the robe. Yeah. Hey, hey, hey, hey. Hey, Joe. Tell you, Joe, you gonna walk me out because we go, hey, no, you push Uncle in the wheelchair on my ring walk.
1:05:53Shannon Sharpe:I'm going to put y 'all in the wheelchair. I got you. I got you. I'll make sure you get there. Don't worry about it. I'm already be in my seat, Joe. We're going to have a good time. I'm already be in my seat.
1:06:10Shannon Sharpe:I do expect dynamite.
1:06:17The undercard, what time, uh, that thing is at T-Mobile.
1:06:22Shannon Sharpe:What? The fight. I thought you said it was here. At T-Mobile.
1:06:27Joe Johnson:Right down the street. Yeah, they ain't nowhere.
1:06:35Shannon Sharpe:I think we're going to get some dynamite. What you mean? On the fight?
1:06:40Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey, look. What time are you trying to go? Y 'all let me know. You know, some of them undercard fights now, they beat them. I ain't trying to get it. Because of hell.
1:06:48Shannon Sharpe:Man, Joe.
1:06:49Chad Johnson:Okay, ain't trying to see that shit.
1:06:51Shannon Sharpe:I ain't trying to see them. You trying to get that for the main event. Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah. I'm going to get there earlier than that, but I ain't trying to see three fights. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
1:06:59Chad Johnson:I'm with you. I'm with you. I'm with you.
1:07:08Joe Johnson:They ain't going to fight.
1:07:12Joe Johnson:Hey, Ryan coming for real shoot. Ryan, Ryan missed the face off shoot. He stand us up, man. We're going to have to squabble. You say he what? He didn't even show up to the face-off.
1:07:22Chad Johnson:He did? Ryan moved to the beat of his own drum, don't it, man?
1:07:27Shannon Sharpe:He do.
1:07:28Joe Johnson:He do.
1:07:28Shannon Sharpe:He said that he was going to come on nightcap if he won, when he won. He didn't say if. He said win.
1:07:38Shannon Sharpe:Then he told me he's going to get, he told me, I'm going to get Shakur for you because I didn't like how he disrespected you, huh?
1:07:47Chad Johnson:Hey.
1:07:49Shannon Sharpe:You think him and Shakur fight? What he said, he doesn't understand, is that how some Shakur say he can fight at 147, but he won't fight Devin at 147. He won a catchweight. He said he done. He said he done with 40, catchweight. He said 47. He said he looking to fight 47 and 54. Come on, he won't boost. I said, man, you better sit down.
1:08:14Joe Johnson:You know, all them, they much bigger than Shakur, though. Yeah. It's just naturally bigger than him.
1:08:20Shannon Sharpe:Hell, everybody, what you call other than Packard, y 'all was bigger than Mayweather. Yeah.
1:08:30Shannon Sharpe:I mean, you look at Mayweather now. Mayweather walking around, Mayweather probably like 155. Easy. Maybe. And that's heavy. Yes. Yes. Because he's still in there on the bag. He's still hitting the miss. He's still in the ring. so he's a he's a he's a guy that loves the sport of boxing yeah it's paid him well it's paid off well for him but he's a guy that just loves boxing loves being around boxing loves talking boxing loves everything about the sport of boxing yeah
1:09:15Shannon Sharpe:Okay. We're being told that Shane Mosley is on the way. Hopefully he gets here before 255.
1:09:27Joe Johnson:What's that 255?
1:09:28Shannon Sharpe:We leaving.
1:09:32Shannon Sharpe:I don't know what he got at 255, but I know what I got.
1:09:38Shannon Sharpe:I don't know what he got going on, but I know what I got going on. You say he got to get that big boy now. Yeah, yeah. That was funny. Yeah. I got to get to Iowa. Then I'll be good to go. This dormant, all right. Map time right here. 2.30 to 3.30.
1:10:00Shannon Sharpe:Get up, eat. What you going to do?
1:10:02Chad Johnson:Go gamble? Me? I think I'm going to get me a little workout in. Get your workout in? Yeah. Drink me. Give me a little coffee with a couple shots of espresso. What kind of workout you getting, Joe? Yeah, I'm going to go get on this treadmill.
1:10:14Joe Johnson:Okay, and you saw me and I inspired you, huh, Joe? Nah, I'm going cardio.
1:10:18Chad Johnson:I need to, you know. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Joe. I got to get back down to pippin' sides. You know what I'm saying? Huh? Where'd you go? You jogging? You jogging yet? Yeah, I jog. So I turn the incline up to like 8. Right. And I walk the first mile. Right. But I go up like every 25. So I probably finish around like 11 with that thing up. So then I take it down to about 6. Yeah. And then I sprint the next mile. Meaning I do 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off, 30 seconds on. So I get up to about 10, 12 sprints.
1:10:47Joe Johnson:Yeah, that's a good one. I like that.
1:10:52Joe Johnson:Shoot, I will come work out with you, but, you know, I got my good stuff on.
1:10:55Chad Johnson:I see. I see. Don't do your thing, man. I don't want to get in the way. You know, I know you. You good, you good, you good, you good. You know. Yeah.
1:11:01Joe Johnson:I appreciate that, Joe. Yeah. You a good dude, boy.
1:11:04Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Yeah. I'm going to get him down. I ain't fit to hold nobody I'm fit to get a nap That's what I'm doing In order for me to make sure I'm good to go for the game Watch the game And got nightcap tonight Them doubles I got a double tomorrow too Because I got this And then I got Shaysha Club Shaysha Yep Yeah And then we got college football Then we got NFL Sunday Then we got Monday Who playing Monday? Broncos Broncos, Kansas City Oh yeah, ooh We in for us.
1:11:42Chad Johnson:We in for us. You know what? I got the Broncos that game, too. Yeah. You sure? Mahomes, they're coming off ACL. Come on, Ocho. That man ain't going to be it. You think he's going to be out there willing, dealing.
1:11:54Joe Johnson:50 % of Mahomes betting to have the league outside of the elite players.
1:11:58Shannon Sharpe:It ain't going to beat that defense the Broncos got. You know we don't. With an undrafted left tackle, an undrafted free agent left tackle, Benito going to have about two and a half.
1:12:08Joe Johnson:Okay. Damn. I'm going to watch the game at the cigar bar, man.
1:12:19Shannon Sharpe:No. No, I don't see that happening.
1:12:24Joe Johnson:That ain't Andre Ward right there, is it?
1:12:28Chad Johnson:Ward, man.
1:12:29Joe Johnson:Oh, no, that's...
1:12:30Chad Johnson:Nah, you tripping, bro. That's, um...
1:12:38Chad Johnson:Who you looking at, Ocho?
1:12:40Joe Johnson:Right there on the step and repeat.
1:12:42Chad Johnson:Nah, bro.
1:12:47Joe Johnson:Nah, who is that on the step and repeat?
1:12:53Joe Johnson:That's Sean Porter? That's Sean Porter right there? On the step and repeat right there? No. No.
1:13:14Joe Johnson:Somebody in the chair say Chad's shorts came with a pink umbrella Hey man y 'all stop playing me man
1:13:25Joe Johnson:I play these golf shorts man Y 'all hate me
1:13:30Shannon Sharpe:They definitely not conducive for sitting down.
1:13:33Joe Johnson:Nah, they not.
1:13:34Chad Johnson:He's golf. Them boys didn't want to see me on that golf. On that golf board. You can't hold that left arm straight, Joe. Yeah, I can. You see me in action. Don't act like you ain't see me in action. You see me in action. You see how I get down. I split in the uprights.
1:13:51Shannon Sharpe:I just got tired of hitting bombs like Brandon Alvarez. Brandon Aubrey going to pay a big for me this year. You think so? Yeah. I hope he do. I might be willing to let him go, Joe, for a nominal fee.
1:14:07Chad Johnson:Man, you trying to trade me Brandon Aubrey for hell puka. Come on, man. James Cook. For James Cook. Hold on. You want me to trade James Cook, my best running back, for a kicker?
1:14:22Chad Johnson:Look how the man tried to swindle me, bro.
1:14:25Shannon Sharpe:Man, somebody took CJ in the second round. So, I mean, the second pick. Who was that? Who got CJ? I think that's, is that who I'm playing? I think Stevie got it. Did Stevie take CJ?
1:14:43Shannon Sharpe:No, who took CJ Stroud? Keytron.
1:14:52Shannon Sharpe:And then he ended up snaking me for Josh Allen.
1:14:59Shannon Sharpe:Oh, that's right. That's right. That's right. That's right. That's right. Yeah. Yeah.
1:15:10Yeah.
1:15:11Shannon Sharpe:Christian got JSN. Yeah. Huh?
1:15:19Who?
1:15:19Chad Johnson:Me? He got CD? He want puka. He want puka before the game jump off?
1:15:31Chad Johnson:I ain't going to lie, boy. I wouldn't really mind making that trade, but, you know. It's early. Yeah, I know it's early. I mean, can I see what he do in a couple weeks? But the thing is, when C.D. go out there doing his one-two, now you ain't going to want to get up off of him.
1:15:53Shannon Sharpe:He said it might be a Might have to Cost you a little extra To get CD? Yep Why you need all them Dallas players though, Joe? Come on, come on There you go You getting the ball You getting your heart involved I didn't get CD, I got Puka But you got the Dallas defense, you got Dak
1:16:16Chad Johnson:That's all I got That's why our defense is going to be solid. But you want CD. Yeah, I do want CD. But the only thing is, if I do get CD, then it's going to hurt me when they have that bye week. You know what I'm saying? Because I ain't going to have DAC or CD. That's okay. That's what you got backups for. Yeah, but I might just keep what I got, man. You know, we'll make it work.
1:16:39Shannon Sharpe:You got backup. Who are your backup wide receivers?
1:16:42Chad Johnson:I got, what's my boy from Houston? Nico. I got Nico Collier. I got Nico Collier.
1:16:48Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. The question is, if that's riding, not start Nico, start CD, and Nico go crazy, you're going to be sick.
1:16:57Chad Johnson:I got, uh, no. It depends on who they playing, too. Yeah, for sure. Yeah. Absolutely. I'm paying attention, though. Because, boy, I win the fantasy football. I don't know. How y 'all going to get over that one? You're not going to win, though. Okay. Okay. Okay.
1:17:43Shannon Sharpe:What's up, bro?
1:18:02What's up, baby? What's up, bro? How you doing? What's up? What's up, bro? Good. Yeah,
1:18:12Shannon Sharpe:for sure. What's going on, bro? You good? Yeah. Man, you done got me in trouble talking crazy on the pod. Man, I told you not to do that.
1:18:19Ryan Garcia:We had fun, right?
1:18:22Shannon Sharpe:That's all that mattered.
1:18:23Chad Johnson:I had a great time.
1:18:24Joe Johnson:Listen, you were very, very comfortable before a very big fight. You're very relaxed. Thank you. Why is that?
1:18:31Ryan Garcia:I think preparation is key, right? Yeah. I think I took all the necessary steps that I had to do to make me feel this confident, this at peace. obviously my faith in god always brings that sense of peace to me as well but um with the with the training camp everything went went as as it should be and that makes you feel confident
1:18:55Joe Johnson:you know so for the naysayers for those on the outside boxing analysts pundits the casual fans that are watching they say you're not really focused on this fight you know calling out other fighters you know not showing up to a face-off what do you have to say to them uh i move out my
1:19:12Ryan Garcia:own sense of tune. You know, I don't really move at what everybody else wants me to do. Right. What I think is the right move is the right move. We have to see, you know, how you perform. Everybody wants to make big things out of nothing. Right. But come fight night, I'm going to be as sharp as sharp can be, so I'm not too worried about it. I like it. You predicted an early knockout
1:19:36Chad Johnson:in this fight. What are you seeing technically that makes you so confident going into this fight?
1:19:43Ryan Garcia:I mean, he looks good, you know, when he's fighting. He's explosive and whatnot. But you know when somebody's kind of a beginner in a way. He's an athletic beginner. So, you know, he's not at my, you know, level at this point. And it's not a shot at him. He just don't have a lot of experience. So we're going to make that real known for sure. Okay.
1:20:06Shannon Sharpe:He's on here earlier. He said he feels very confident. He said whatever type of fight you want to fight, he ready.
1:20:11Ryan Garcia:He could be confident. He could be mad, sad, happy, whatever. He's getting knocked out. So what does it matter? I don't care what he says. It's like when somebody's talking shit about to play you in a video game when you know you're about to beat his ass. You're goofy. Once you get in there, you're going to lose, and then what? Right. He's just not as good at the game than me. Right.
1:20:29Joe Johnson:What version of Ryan Garcia are we seeing? Are you coming out aggressive? Are you going to come out and feel him out, feel him out the first few rounds, set traps up in early rounds to accomplish and execute him in later rounds? What version do you think we're going to get?
1:20:42Ryan Garcia:You're going to see a violent version from the last fight. So whatever you've seen in the last fight is going to be more violent. Ryan Garcia. Same focus. Yeah. Same sharpness. Yes. But that violentness to it is going to be amped up. You'll see. So you're setting the tone early. Setting the tone early. Yeah, he won't win one round. I'm not going to let him win one round. Damn. So if you're going to think I'm going to let him just control it from the start and trying to be overly aggressive, we're going to settle that boy down right away. So he's not going to win a round.
1:21:15Shannon Sharpe:Ryan, the thing that I've given you credit for, it's like the one thing you can say about Ryan, you might not like that he'd be talking too much and he's not as serious as he needs to be, but you look at the fighters that you fought. You fought Tank. You fought Rowley. You fought Devin. You're fighting Conor Benn. You're taking chances that other guys always talk about, oh, I'll fight this guy anytime, anyplace, and it comes down to everybody be backing away from each other. Why are you so confident that you're unafraid to fight anybody, anytime, anywhere?
1:21:43Ryan Garcia:I just feel like I'm at such a high level since the amateurs. What's there to fear? What's the worst thing that can happen to you? Lose? Okay, let's see why. Or let's see who's the best. Really, that's where it comes down to. Who's the best? I want to face everyone. I'm coming into my prime. I think I took those fights even when I wasn't where I needed to be. That's the difference, you know. But for me, I've always had that heart where when I watched an Oscar La Jolla fight, when I watched the Floyd Mayweather fight, when I watched a Manny Pacquiao fight, you got a certain level of intensity and excitement.
1:22:25Ryan Garcia:I wanted to bring that to boxing. I remember that. I remember those feelings. I remember everybody gathering up intense. Like, ooh, this is about to go. I wanted to bring that back to boxing. So I took those chances. But now I'm in the driver's seat. I'm still looking for those big fights, but now I have more maturity, more understanding of what to do, what not to do. Yeah.
1:22:43Chad Johnson:So is speed still important in your fighting style or has ring intelligence become more important since?
1:22:52Ryan Garcia:If you're doing things right, everything evolves. Right. You know, I'm blessed with speed. So that's one of my advantages. I just look at it as an advantage. Right, right. Everything else you got to work on. You know, timing, rhythm, execution, controlling distance, controlling range. I got athleticism, I got power, and I got speed that I've been blessed with. Yeah. That I don't got to worry about. Right. Everything else got to work together, you know. So it's just finding that right formula, finding that right, those right notes. Yeah. And everything comes together.
1:23:26Shannon Sharpe:Are we going to see the best Ryan Garcia that we've seen in a fight on Saturday night?
1:23:30Ryan Garcia:You're damn right. You're damn right. This is about to be nasty. Oh, my God. I cannot wait. They're really paying me to beat up a beginner, bro. This is crazy. You're paying me to beat up a beginner.
1:23:42Joe Johnson:I got a question. You say you're going to win this fight. You say he's not going to win a round. If there was a name out there that you want to see after this fight, is there somebody you can say that you would love to fight after you win this condominium fight? Oh, yeah.
1:23:56Ryan Garcia:I want to unify against Teofima Lopez. Teo. Teo. Teo. Ooh, that's a good one. I need that. I've always wanted to run that since the amateurs. He's the only one I didn't get to fight in the amateurs. Yes. And I remember his dad, you know, even when I would win national titles, I would hear his dad talking to other coaches. Ryan Garcia ain't got no style. Ryan Garcia, he's not really good. He's been talking shit about me since I was 8, 9. So you're going to really, I need that. I need that more so to shut his dad up. Because I know what his dad thinks of me. I know what they think of my style. They never thought I had a style.
1:24:31Ryan Garcia:They never thought I was going to be good. But, you know, now we meet up, and now we got to see what your son really can do against a guy that don't have style, that don't got the skills. I'll beat the brakes off of Teofimo. Bad. I'll beat the brakes off him. Spank him. Old ass whooping. Bow, bow, bow. Ah, ah, ah. Crazy shit.
1:24:54Shannon Sharpe:You seem real comfortable. So weight's not going to be an issue this time?
1:24:59Ryan Garcia:It never. It wasn't last time. 147 I'm really really comfortable at I won't say really comfortable at Everybody gotta cut weight But it's a weight that is manageable Manageable I'm here to reign as a 147 pound champion We heard him saying he's moving up regardless That tells me two things One he don't plan on making weight this fight Or he's setting up an excuse Those are the two things I see
1:25:26Chad Johnson:Hey what does the public Misunderstand about Ryan Garcia
1:25:31Ryan Garcia:here, bro? I mean, you don't get here without focus. Hello. You know, I'm very detailed in everything I do, from the way I box, to what I wear, to how I pose, to what I do. You know, everything's very specific, so they just, they kind of see me as a jokester, but it's all fun and games still.
1:25:53Joe Johnson:It's time to fight, until it's time to really go. Very strategic. Yeah. Very strategic.
1:25:58Shannon Sharpe:Right. Best of luck, man. Appreciate you, man. Appreciate your time, man. Appreciate the sit-down. We'll see you. Hey, nightcap after you win the fight.
1:26:06Ryan Garcia:Yeah, nightcap. Yeah, let's do it. Take some of that cognac. Or bet.
1:26:11Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, yeah, we got to have a drink. You done had one last time. Bet. Bet. Bet.
1:26:16Chad Johnson:Bet.
1:26:21Chad Johnson:Hey, one thing he ain't lacking is no confidence. I was just going to say that. He bringing that thunder.
1:26:26Shannon Sharpe:He ain't playing. To be a ride in my, and I got an opportunity to sit down with him. I got 75 minutes of his time a couple of weeks ago, man. He a fun dude. He opened his house up. So, Ryan, I appreciate that. You invited me and my team into your home to sit down for that interview. We greatly appreciate it. It's up now on Club Shea Shea, the Ryan Garcia, and myself, the interviewer sitting now. What's up, bro? And so, guys, thank you. That does it for us here at Radio Row. We'll see you all tonight.
