In short

The episode is a sports-heavy “Nightcap Hour” discussion plus some boxing and NFL talk. Topic 1: College football—Alabama vs Missouri, Florida vs Texas A&M, and USC vs Michigan. Alabama (No. 1) beat Missouri 27-24 for a fifth straight win; Ty Simpson threw 200 yards and three TDs, including a fourth-down TD to Daniel Hill with 316 left. Jam Miller had 85 rushing yards but left with a concussion. The hosts note Alabama’s 7 straight wins over Missouri since 1975 and critique Ryan Williams’ lack of consistency (drops, limited impact despite being a dynamic playmaker). Topic 2: Texas A&M beat Florida 34-17; Marcel Reed had 234 passing yards, a TD, and a rushing TD; A&M ran 42 times for 125 yards and three rushing TDs. The hosts argue Florida’s poor play and turnovers (four fumbles, two lost) explain the collapse and question Billy Napier’s job security. Topic 3: USC shocked Michigan 31-13; King Miller rushed for 158 yards and three TDs; USC’s defense had two interceptions (Bishop Fitzgerald).

Guest backgrounds

none named in the transcript (hosts only: “Zach” and “Ocho”). Key claims/examples: “USC beat Michigan at their own game” (run-heavy, physical approach); Florida’s quarterbacks “none jump off the screen”; boxing resumes matter—Boots Ennis’ first-round TKO of Portugal Lima sets up a likely Virgil Ortiz fight; NFL: Browns may hesitate to release Shadour Sanders; Eagles could trade A.J. Brown before Nov. 4.

We got to talk about boost, huh? We got to talk about boost, man. Okay, we get to that.

4:35Shannon Sharpe:A-ranked Alabama held off number 14, Missouri, 27-24 to give the Crimson Tide their fifth consecutive win. Ty Simpson threw for 200 yards, three touchdowns, including a clincher on fourth down to Daniel Hill with 316 to go. Jam Miller added 85 yards rushing before leaving the game with a concussion in the fourth quarter. Alabama has won seven straight over Missouri, dating back to September 8, 1975. Man, I haven't been able to watch all the quarterbacks play, but it's hard for me to say that the quarterback playing better to Ty Simpson. Now, he don't have the gaudy numbers. He's not throwing for 300, 400 yards.

5:13Shannon Sharpe:But boy, he's doing an unbelievable job of getting the ball out of his hand at Ocho. I don't know what's going on with Ryan Williams. But we might need to have an intervention, Ocho. Wait, whoa, whoa. What happened to him today? That's another game. I can't get no Alabama games. One target, no catch. Wait, well, that's not on him, is it? That's not on him. They have to get him involved in the game. He's their most... A lot of times, he's been retrieving lately. Ocho. They've been throwing it to him. He drop it. He pick it up and hand it to the official. Okay, okay, okay. I mean, you watch the game.

5:45Shannon Sharpe:Don't do that now. I've seen the past games, you know. But he's their most dynamic playmaker. He can't be dynamic if he's dropping the ball. He's electric. We're basing that on what we saw last year. Has he been dynamic and electric this year? He showed flashes of it, but he's had inconsistencies with the drop, though. He's had inconsistencies with those drops. That's how I make it. Two million dollars a year, Ocho. I need consistency. See, now we can call it like we see it because we're like, Ocho, hey, man, look here. He 18. Look, he 18, but he making$2 million. We used to say all the time, Ocho, man, they don't get paid.

6:21Shannon Sharpe:They're getting paid now. Okay, okay. So we get to judge them a little more harsh. A little different. And the critique needs to be a little more firm than what it's been in the years past. Ty Simpson, 23 of 31, 200 yards. They had 44 carries for 125.

6:41Shannon Sharpe:when you got a guy that dynamic freshman all-american and he doesn't even show up on the stat sheet don't show something going on i don't know what is something going on i don't know where his head is something i don't know if he's having issues at home i don't know if he's having issues at school but something you don't you don't have this kind of precipitous drop without something bother you? I'm going to talk to him. I'm going to talk to him. I'm going to give him a nice little call. Nice little call. I'm going to talk to him. There's no reason. Obviously, what you did your freshman year was unbelievable.

7:19Not only did you leave high school early, you was basically number one and two. It was out of you and Jeremiah Smith is the best guy that you've ever seen in college football last year. so whatever's going on I'm gonna reach out to him and talk to him because you expect expectations are high now we expect you to build off what you did last year yes so I'm not sure

7:43Shannon Sharpe:what it is but you know people's like well he's injured he's injured well sit out you're not doing him any good if you oh this is what I tell people if you can't have the same impact that you have if you're not injured you shouldn't go out there injured because you going out there injured don't do nothing right tell me how that helped he didn't help them win today so if you can't help them win Ocho I'm just trying to figure out what do you do what are we doing can I say something real quick about that you know some players even when they're not 100 percent they're 80 or 85 percent is better than other players at 100 and I see I view Ryan Williams based on his skill set his DNA and his makeup as a receiver even him being at 80 85 percent is still better than other teams receivers at full strength.

8:28Shannon Sharpe:Boy, Horton and Brooks have been playing better than he has this year. I wish you – listen, I can't – If we had this conversation last year, Ocho, I said, Ocho, you got me dead right. Yeah, but I have no argument with that. I can't argue that fact. So, hopefully you have a conversation with him and get to the bottom. Hey, Donald, really flying on that treadmill. I'm trying to run as fast as T-Mobile 5G home internet, Zach. 11:52Shannon Sharpe:I'm hitting. Number five, Texas A &M continues its perfect start with a 34-17 win over Florida. Marcel Reed threw for 234 yards, a touchdown and ran for another score. It's the first 6-0 start for the Aggies since 2016. They improved to 3-0 in the SEC conference. Aggies look good. I know. Johnny went to that game. He was there? Don't start me to lie. He probably was. They probably showed off for him. They showed off for him. Let's see here. See what they're looking like. See what these stats look alike. Yeah, but they look good. Look, and DJ Langway didn't play bad. 21 to 37, 245, two touchdowns, no interceptions.

12:40Shannon Sharpe:He couldn't run the ball. Marcia Reed was 16 to 26, 234, one touchdown, one interception. They ran the ball 42 times for a buck 83 and three touchdowns. I don't know what happened to Florida. I don't know what happened. They just played good last week. But how did they play the week before that? And the week before that? It was bad. Exactly. That's my point. Ocho, they two and four. They played Texas A &M. Ocho, they were two and three before they played Texas A &M. so they had more losses to win even before they played Texas A &M. That's my point.

13:25Yeah, no. That is messed up. No, but they got – look, there's a lot of heat on Billy Napier.

13:33Shannon Sharpe:I don't know how he survived this, Ochoa. I don't know if he can hold on to this job.

13:39You can only do so much from coaching on the sideline. If you don't have the players compete against the power five schools or the better schools that got that money. As you know, Texas A &M got that money. So they have the better players. Most will say, well, it comes down to coaching. Well, there's only so much coaching to do if the players on the other opposing team are better than the players that you have. Coaching can't. Coach Angle saw that. He's just better than us. at individual positions. That's what it comes down to. If you want to be detailed and nitpick.

14:21Shannon Sharpe:Turnover. They had, they fumbled it four times. Florida did, and they lost two of them. Langway lost, fumbled twice, lost one. V. Brown, the third, lost one. It's just, I don't know. I mean, I think the thing is that what has happened is that we've allowed people, we've allowed the media to form this, like Florida's going to be good and lightweight's going to be this and that. And we bought into it.

14:50Shannon Sharpe:I'm missing something. I just don't see it. It's like all the quarterbacks, Ocho, that they hype this year coming into this year. I ain't seen it. It ain't. Well, hold on. Have there been any quarterbacks that just jump off the screen this year at all? None. And I mean that in a respectful way. Nobody's like, oh my goodness, You know what? He's the first round pick. He's the first pick to go. No, there's nothing like that. There's no Cam Newton. There's no CJ Stroud. There's no Jaden Daniels. There's nothing like that. Nothing. I think the thing is, Ocho, look, we're six weeks into the season, and ain't nobody mentioned about no Heisman.

15:32Shannon Sharpe:No, not at all. Ain't nobody said nothing about no Heisman. Right now, me and you got a better chance of winning the Heisman. I mean, if we go back and look at it, Ty Simpson, he don't have great stats, but they're playing well. He doesn't turn the ball over a bunch. I think the guy at Notre Dame have another big day today. But, I mean, Chad, do y 'all know something I don't know? Who's the Highland frontrunner?

16:05Shannon Sharpe:Drew Aller, he's hurt, but he was playing terrible. What about Langway? He's playing terrible. What about Carson Beck? Maybe Carson Beck. Yeah.

16:19Shannon Sharpe:Haynes King. I don't know. But it's just like, I just expected more from Florida. But Texas A &M is rolling. All that money they've been pumping into that organization, is probably paying, is finally paying off. is finally coming to fruition. Yeah. Jimbo's like, man. They're like, Jimbo, we gave you opportunity after opportunity. Walk-on running back King Miller powered hard-nosed USC to a 31-13 victory over Michigan. King rushed for 158 yards and three touchdowns. And Jada Maiavea passed for 265 yards and two touchdowns. Despite playing without two starting offensive linemen, USC won a hard-nosed Big Ten football that included 224 yards rushing, most from a tailback so far down the depth chart against the nation's seventh-ranked run defense.

17:20Shannon Sharpe:Look, if you're going to beat Michigan, you've got to be able to run the football. They're hard-nosed, they're blue-collar. They try to punish you running the football, and they try not to let you run the football on them. USC beat their own game. USC beat Michigan at their own game. Yep. I hate to say this, but when I view USC, I view USC as a finesse team. I view them as a finesse team. I mean, there's physicality in the game of football in general, but you don't view USC as that. You just don't. They always have a nice running back, and they always have nice receivers, and they're going to throw that thing all over the place.

18:02Reggie Bush ain't going to see that door. But what they had tonight in the running game was damn good. You beat Michigan at their own game. Yeah.

18:16Shannon Sharpe:I just don't know.

18:21Shannon Sharpe:What's he was USC. He was OU's offensive coordinator, took the USC job. And he's had different coordinators. He's tried some of everything. and for whatever reason, they're good offensively. They can put points on the board, but hell, they can't stop anybody.

18:44Shannon Sharpe:Michigan quarterback as a freshman, Underwood.

18:54Shannon Sharpe:Bryce Underwood had 15-24, 207, two touchdowns, one interception. his receiver marched 8 for 138 and a touchdown

19:08Shannon Sharpe:but USC in the in the Coliseum they get it done what's USC's record? oh USC 5-1 Ocho yeah I forgot who they lost to yeah they 5-1 but we'll see remains to be seen because I don't trust their defense. I don't. Because normally what happens when you expect them to do something, their defense lay an egg and they give up 50 points. Listen, their defense did it tonight. They did. Bishop Fitzgerald made two interceptions and the highlight of strong effort by the USC's defense. Is Daylon Lynn still to D 'Anton, still to DC at USC? I don't know. Ask check and see if the Anthony Lynn is still to DC.

20:08Shannon Sharpe:I remember when he was a little kid. That's Anthony Lynn's son. Anthony Lynn? Yeah. The coach, A-Lynn. He used to coach the Chargers. Really? Oh, the head coach. Yeah. Okay, okay, okay, okay. Where Mr. Lynn at? Mr. Lynn is coaching somewhere? He in the commanders. I think he's with the commanders. Okay, okay, okay. What position coach? I think he's assistant head coach and running back coach or something. Maybe, Ash. Check and see where Anthony Lynn is. I know he's at the commanders, but I don't know. I think he's assistant head coach. Okay. Because he was with Kyle at the 49ers. Okay. Oh, Mr.

20:54Lynn.

20:55Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Yeah. That's dope. I think that's, I think that he's a what coach? Okay. Run game coordinator and running backs coach. I knew he was in there, but that's, look.

21:10Normally, for the most part, if you've been in that Shanahan tree,

21:15Shannon Sharpe:they're going to take care of you. Absolutely. Whether it's Sean McVay, whether it's Kyle Shanahan, whether it's any of those guys. they're going to find a place for you. Yeah, absolutely. You know what? That's why I'm not worried about if they let our coach go down there in Miami. Oh, he'll get a job. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He'll get a job. And it's one – you know, that coaching carousel, that coaching tree in general, they take care of each other. For sure. They take care of each other. Yep. I just would hate to have to be a coach and have to uproot my family and my kids, you know, every three years because things don't go well.

21:53That's the only part I don't like. Not very many coaches have been fortunate, like Bill Belichick or Andy Reid.

21:58Shannon Sharpe:Just stay one place or two, yeah. Or two, you get tired to get like a Joe Gibbs that stays somewhere, a Coach Cowher, a Mike Tomlin, a Chuck Knoll, a Tom Landry, Don Shula. Think about how long Coach Shula was in Miami. Miami, yeah. That doesn't happen. That doesn't. I don't like that. That's the only part of coaching I don't like. Yeah. But Andy Reed now. How long was Andy Reed in Philly? He did more than – 99 until – he's about 12, about 13 years. Woo, that's a good shot. About 11, 12, I think 12 or 13. Because he's coached 200 games in both places. He's the first coach to win, I think, to coach at least that many games in two places.

22:50Shannon Sharpe:and he has 100 wins in both places. Damn.

22:58Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

23:01Shannon Sharpe:14 in Philly, 13 he can't see. Yep. Jesus. Yep. Because what? He came in with Donovan in 99.

23:15Shannon Sharpe:And so 12, and then he picked right up. So I think he got the job in Philly. I think he got the job in Kansas City right after he got, you know, let go in – he got the job in Kansas City right after he got let go in Philly. And he's – you know what's funny? Everywhere Coach is going, he's always had a squad. He's always had elite talent. McNabb, T.O., Todd Pinkson, Freddie Mitchell. Boy, stop me, boy. You mentioned some names and you ain't got nothing to do with no goddang old elite talent. You know T.O. McNabb? T.O. Okay, T.O. Okay, go ahead. Oh, the supporting cast. Brian Mitchell. Brian Mitchell wasn't there.

23:56Not Brian Mitchell. What's 32 name? No, you talking about Westbrook. Westbrook, yeah, yeah, yeah. Westbrook. Then you go to Kansas City.

24:04Shannon Sharpe:You did not say Freddie Mitchell. You don't like Freddie Mitchell? Chad, this man said Freddie Mitchell was elite. Hey, oh.

24:15Freddie was that. Freddie was that. Fred X.

24:19Shannon Sharpe:And then you said Todd Pinkster. That's a good supporting cast, huh? Man, you know what they call. You know what they call. Look, you know what they call Todd Pinkster. What they call Todd? He was just tall in his skin. They took the P out and put ST in. So don't do that, Ocho. Don't do that. That's messed up, man. Ocho, here.

28:45Shannon Sharpe:It took less than a round for Boots Ennis to bring the official 154-pound debut to a thunderous close. Ennis, 35 wins, 0 losses, 31 by KO. The former unified welterweight champ sent a loud and clear message to the junior middleweight division by scoring two knockdowns en route to a first-round TKO of Portugal. I ain't going to try to say his first name. Last name is Lima. I sent a big message, Ena said. You already know what time it is. You know who I want next. But likely next is a long-anticipated showdown between Virgil Ortiz if he gets past Eric Lubin, Erickson Lubin, in November. Yeah. Hey, listen, I'm excited.

29:27You know how much I love the sport of boxing. You know how much I love the sweet science, and I understand exactly what I'm watching. Some people will say, oh, Boots isn't for anybody. But everyone has to build their resume to get to the big fights. You have to fight fighters to build your resume to get to the big fights. The big fight obviously is Virgil Ortiz. Boots called out some very interesting names after winning tonight. He called out Charlo. He called out Xander Zayas. He called out, there's one more guy. I don't know how to pronounce his last name. I don't know how to say it the right way.

29:57But again, the money fight, the mega fight is Virgil Ortiz. now, will Oscar De La Hoya not hide him and allow him to duck boots? It would be a phenomenal fight. Understanding, I predicted, if you watched Lima fight in the past, you understood this is probably how the fight was going to go. I didn't think it would end this early based on what we saw from him in the past. But Virgil Ortiz is really no different. Great fighter. Superb fighter. Obviously, He keeps that same high guard that Lima had tonight, and it can be trouble for him going to this fight against Boots. If and when it ever does happen, Boots is too skilled being able to fight on the inside, being able to fight from distance, being able to switch at any point.

30:43So I can't wait. I'm excited. And I think the only person right now who can give Boots a problem, who can give Boots an issue and give the fans what they deserve in the ring. And that's probably me. that's probably me I'm just going to be honest with you clean your clock I'm probably the only one who isn't scared of Boots who's been in the ring with him multiple times sparring that could probably I give him I give him that word no you ain't beating a 140 man please but hey Boots I know you're going to probably see this man congratulations Listen, all the hard work, obviously, you put in through camp.

31:27I knew you had one hell of a camp. Coming off Sparrow Canelo, preparing him for Bud is probably why you looked as sharp and as sharp and as solid as you did tonight. Kudos. Congratulations. At any point, you want to bring me to camp. When you do start, when you sign that contract with Virgil Ortiz to get that fight going, you need an extra body. I can get in there and beat your ass. So, yeah.

31:51Shannon Sharpe:That's it. Yeah, look, I mean, I'm with you, Ocho. I want to see guys fight. I understand guys want to protect their, you know, and build up and make some money. But it used to be like that. No, it did. But you see, Ocho, this is why the guys in the modern time, they don't get the credit that they deserve. Because they don't really fight anybody. And by the time they fight them, they'll pass their prime. That's why the guys hold Sugar Ray and Hagler and all those fighters still hold them in such high regards. and they question some of the guys that fight today. Because even though they got losses, they're still willing to put them in front of people.

32:27Shannon Sharpe:They got undefeated records. This is the funny thing. You think about boxing back then is you having a loss or you having two losses, it still doesn't affect your purse. It still doesn't affect your payday. But when you lose in today's era of boxing, you can't maximize your purse. You can't maximize your potential and get in mega fights because you have that one loss or two losses. That's just unfortunate. It's just the way the game of boxing is now. And I think now... It didn't affect Tommy Hearns, even though when he fought Hagler, he had lost to Sugar Ray. That's a long time ago, huh? But I'm saying, if you fight top fighters, no, I do not want to see you, if you somebody, I don't want to see you fight a no-name.

33:08Shannon Sharpe:No. I wanted to see Hagler fight Hearns. I wanted to see Hearns fight Duran. I wanted to see Duran fight Sugar Ray. I wanted to see Iran Barkley fight Hearns. And you was in the 70s with the heavyweights. You wanted to see Norton fight Foreman. And they fight Shavers. And they fight Frazier. And they fight Ali. And they fought Ron Lyle. You wanted to see that, Ocho. Ain't want no ducking. Right. You're right. I mean, I really wouldn't call it ducking. I call it building your resume to a point where you can maximize your purse for that mega fight. And maximize as much as you can get before you take that chance.

33:46See, back then they were willing to take chances. That's the only way you can be great. Yeah, right. That's the only way you can break. Now you take chances when the timing is right.

33:55Shannon Sharpe:Oh, Joe, so you got, so let me, I'm trying to figure out who gets into the fight game saying I'm undefeated. Oh, this is prize fighting, huh? I understand. Let me finish. When it comes to prize fighting in this day and age, you understand the importance of being undefeated. You understand the importance of being undefeated, not only being undefeated, but the timing being right to maximize the person which you can get before you take that chance against a fighter of equal talent on the same level That's what boxing's doing You know, so now the time Boots has done everything he needs to do This was his introduction to the 154 division.

34:32He called out all the top dogs at the 154 division. He said when the fight ended, I'm ready for Virgil Ortiz. There's no excuses There should be no ducking. All Virgil they have to send, I think, who would be the A side? Who would be the A side? Boots or Virgil? Who got the belt? Man, that's a good question. Hey, Chad, Chad, help me out a little bit. Who's A-side? Who ever got the belt?

34:54Shannon Sharpe:If you come, he just getting to 154, Virgil Ortiz is going to be A-side. Oh, shit. Who cares? I mean, you know, A-side matters when it comes to person and split, that's all. You want to make the fight happen? You call this man out, so if you call that man out, you know you if you call he ain't call you out so if you call him out you already know you to b-side yeah it's just like who did who did who did bud call out he said i want canelo how is he gonna go be the a-side okay you're right what hey listen bud went out there and proved himself but yes but they side now but here's the thing bud gets the command how much he wants bud next fight should be 100 million or more but here's the thing what bud did bud took a chance bus for hey You get you fighting anything can happen in a fight guys want to be safe Guys want to fight cream puffs and then when you say well You're not one of the top fighters all the time.

35:52Shannon Sharpe:What you mean? I'm undefeated. That's why yeah That's why bud Crawford gets the credit that he deserves because bud of the three a three division undisputed Yeah, and he took with basically he'd leave three weight classes to take on a man that was unblemished He's the only man to unify the 168 division. Yeah right that's why bud crawford gets the the cachet and the love that he gets because bud who's willing to take chances these other guys wouldn't take and they won't take i want to fight this guy no you don't all you want to do is talk so everybody say well he said he want to fight him go sign the contract yeah bud took substantially less uh probably 50 million less maybe 75 million less than what Canelo got just to make that fight.

36:42Yeah. Yeah. And now he's A-side. He's A-side. The only problem with Bud, where the fuck do you... I'm sorry. My bad. My bad. My bad. He can't fight nobody but Canelo.

36:54Shannon Sharpe:Where do you go next? Canelo rematch. Benavidez comes out. Benavidez, I don't know if Benavidez want to come down to 168. No, no. That's too much. That's too much. That's too much. That's too much. but we wanted to see bud in boots at 147 we wanted to see that but there was there was nothing in it at that time for bud to be able to to take you know that that he already beat spence what do what he had already unified 147 exactly so um that that never happened 140 unified 147 yeah we we wanted to see we wanted to see boots versus virgil at 147 it never happened The timing and when things happen now is the perfect timing.

37:37Boots showed out the night at 154. Fight, one round, out of there. He called out Charlo. He called out Xander Zayas, prospect out of Puerto Rico. He nice. He real nice. But I'm excited. I'm excited. I heard Oscar De La Hoya doesn't hold things up in getting this fight done. And what month are we in? What are we in? October. that fight should happen 10th month that fight should happen somewhere early in January what fight? early in 26th, Boots and Ortiz nah, if he just fought that fight ain't happened until like April he just put him oh wait, you're right because Ortiz had a fight coming up against Erickson

38:23Shannon Sharpe:yeah, he fight in November wait a minute, Erickson Lupin ain't no chump now but I'm saying that fight won't happen until April or May Okay, yeah, you're right. You know, Oscar's going to probably want that fight on Cinco de Mayo. I'm just talking. Right, right. Yeah. But if you think about it, Ocho, why do we look at Holyfield? Holyfield fought everybody. I'll fight Lennox Lewis. I'll fight George Foreman. I'll fight Mike Tyson. You got to fight, Ocho. You got to fight. Yeah, yeah. listen you had Andre Ward explain it to you they explained why it's like that today so I get it make money but when it comes to ranking and where they put all time great fighters your name on the list now when it comes to ranking fighters that's made the most prize you'll be on that list but I think if you're a professional athlete, you want to be considered one of the best.

39:32Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. Listen, that's great for conversational pieces. You know, having Super Bowl rings is great for conversational pieces. You know, having belts is great for conversational pieces and topics and barbershop talk. But man, them boys, they worry about that money. I tell you what, I would ask Tom Brady, say, Tom, would you rather have an extra$50 million or would you rather have those two Super Bowl wins. That's undefeated season. You talk about a quarterback that's worth$400 million. Come on now. First of all, you made more money than you ever thought you would as a boxer because most of the time, boxers come from impoverished conditions, just like you and I.

40:13Shannon Sharpe:Anything that I made over$2 was more than I ever thought I would make. Now we've made millions. Look, I wanted to make money as long as I can get my grandmother out of the house but i want to be a damn good football player i wanted to be in a situation i wanted to be in a situation that when people talked about the position they talked about me or if people in different would remember me right that's what i wanted right yeah you make money but you it's hard for me to get so now okay you're the wealthiest boxer in the world and but nobody wanted nobody talks about you and everybody questions your legacy you you think about you think about floyd Floyd is the wealthiest box in the world.

40:52He still talked about. He still talked about.

40:54Shannon Sharpe:But a lot of people still put Sugar Ray Robinson in front of him. A lot of people put Sugar Ray Lennon in front of him. A lot of people put Bud Crawford not in front of him. It should be a no-brainer. You're right. But I don't think, especially when it comes to Floyd, he's not worried about who they put in front of him. No, no. But everybody can't be Floyd. Everybody's trying to be Floyd, but they're not going to be Floyd. that's the problem I get it, Floyd is a very unique situation, Floyd need to be set aside, stop looking at Floyd's career and how Floyd did what Floyd did look at your situation, you're not going to be Floyd even if you end your career 45-0, 52-0 people ain't going to think of you like Floyd oh matter of fact, great example great example Tank is fighting Tengis fighting in an exhibition fight against Jake Paul.

41:52Why is he taking that fight? You think he's worried about who would... No. It's prize fighting. Making as much money as you can. Making as much money as you can in that small window of opportunity that you have to do as a boxer.

42:07Shannon Sharpe:Who should have been a boxer then? You should have got to... Look, because... You don't play box. Yeah, you could you could you could end your life that could end your life boxers have died do kookim What's the guy uh, Benny Perrette Bernie Britt when he killed a guy I think he get killed a guy yeah Yeah, it's dangerous in that road. That's a dangerous sport And you have to take risk Ocho when you go from when you catch the slant you're taking a risk. Yeah yeah slant's one of the most dangerous slants are way more dangerous than a nine route you cut your teeth running the slant route but that's what that's what makes certain receivers unique yeah it make them special i just like i said i i won't look you got into this sport you understood what this sport entail yeah that's why boxing is dying they keep up to what why boxing dying because the greats won't fight they won't shakur and tank should be fighting like you said boots and innocent should a boots and uh uh ortiz should be fighting it's coming it's coming it's coming but the problem is you got too many sanctioning bodies you got the wbo the wba you got ring you got the ivf and you got you got too many bodies just imagine if you had if you had uh uh uh uh uh five football bodies how the hell are we gonna find out who the champion is yeah you're right everybody want to protect their fighter don't nobody want to see their fighter lose yeah so i'm gonna protect it and listen to me honestly based on based on skill based on skill and if you actually enjoy boxing actually enjoy boxing and know what you're watching round by round i'm not just about getting there and knocking people out my my favorite and most exciting fighters to watch because i actually know what i'm watching obviously bud is one watching boots fight and shakura stevenson a lot of people say shakura's fights are boring they're not they're not boring if you know exactly what you're watching right he puts on a master class offensively and defensively every effing fight whether he's on the inside whether he's at mid-range i mean it's just it's like how are you doing that how are you how are you doing it because i actually know what i'm watching i understand the sweet science now where it's not i'm just not in there waiting on the knockout no i'm seeing everything develop round by round i'm seeing how they feel each other out okay this ain't working well i'm gonna do this in the first round and i'm gonna see if it work in the four there's just just the nuances of it man i think people when i hear people talk about fighters oh they ain't fight nobody i'm like like i don't think y 'all understand how difficult that sport is in general.

45:02Shannon Sharpe:It is. But Ocho, I remember when Shane Mosley fought Winky Wright, fought Vernon Forrest, and they fought this one, and they fought that one. There wasn't nobody ducking. You had to fight. Hagler had to fight Hearns. Hearns had to fight Leonard. Leonard had to fight Duran. And so forth and so on. You had to fight. But you got all, you got the box sanctioning bodies, and you got the zone, and you got top rank, and you got PBC and you got this one and you got that one and the WBC and the WBO and the WB this and the IBF and Ring Magazine. And I'm going to protect my fighter because I got the golden goose.

45:42Shannon Sharpe:And long as he undefeated and he with mine, y 'all want... Hey, you know who going to make boxing great again? Goddamn Turkey. Goddamn Turkey. Turkey going to get them boys from hiding behind whatever they hide behind. these coaches not gonna be behind him because Turkey gonna throw that money and it's gonna force you into taking a chance and fighting someone of equal talent that same level where you can get yourself hurt something's gonna happen you gotta take, you gotta Ocho because you get, first of all you know in order to knock somebody out you gotta subject yourself to getting knocked out ain't nobody throwing no points like this no, you gotta be vulnerable yes yes

46:29Shannon Sharpe:gotta be fine see that's why that's why i would see that's why i would you see what you said but you gotta be vulnerable you have to so so knocking somebody out is like falling in love you gotta be vulnerable you gotta open yourself up oh are you willing to open yourself up oh at the debo the debo i hope james harrison see this i can't wait till i see you i'm gonna punch in your face. I'm going to punch in your face. I don't care where we see each other at. Shadour Sanders was officially named the number two quarterback for Cleveland in the game against Pittsburgh. The athletic Jason Lord is reporting that the Browns might be hesitant to release Shadour because of what happened with their former quarterback, Baker Mayfield, who went on to shine after leaving Cleveland.

47:15Shannon Sharpe:I think it's a fear of more so than Deshaun Watson debacle, and it's totally a debacle at this point. I think excuse me it's just the fear of a guy could develop elsewhere and then three years from now we're having the exact same conversation we are with baker yeah well if you oh joe yeah if you can't develop them why do you care oh joe i've never been mad of being in a situation where i couldn't give a young lady what she wanted and she went on somewhere else and got married or she find her a serious boyfriend i can't give her what she wanted what she wanted at the time i couldn't give her to it she went somewhere else and found it how do i begrudge that cleveland if you can't develop a quarterback why do you care if he goes somewhere else and somebody puts the time into him and develop him and actually wants him yes at the time actually y 'all didn't want Baker.

48:15Shannon Sharpe:Y 'all didn't want Baker. You said you wanted a grown-up. Okay. He went to... He had to go a lot of detours. Yeah, yeah. But he eventually got to a place that let him be him. Y 'all don't like for whatever reason. And I don't know. I hope we get an opportunity to see Shadour. Maybe if it's not here somewhere else. But you guys wanted someone to be like this because you think this is the only way to play quarterback. No, that's not the only way to play quarterback. Now, I do think there are certain things you have to adhere to. You have to take the onus. When things go wrong offensively, you put all the blame on yourself as the quarterback.

48:55Shannon Sharpe:That's just the one thing that I do believe. But do you have to be like stoic and, you know, you can be like Peyton Manning. You can be like Tom Brady. You can be like, you can be like, there are a million different ways to play the position. I just believe responsibility and ownership is one of the things that a quarterback must do. but why do you care you're not trying to develop him he leaves you release him he goes somewhere else they put the time in they develop him they give him an opportunity why do you care and listen don't let him go to a situation that's perfect for him the situation in Tampa is perfect for Baker what they have around him what they build around him the pieces that they continue to put around him you got Mike Evans you got Godwin you got Bucky Irvin you got Abuka, white K-Dot oh my goodness man please

49:55Shannon Sharpe:I just never understood that I never understood that because I look at and I just equate a lot of things because like look I've dated women that's gone on and gotten married I wasn't ready at that time and that's not where I was Oh, you go marry him and you go do... What? Right. Cleveland. Y 'all not even attempted to develop it. Your owner didn't even want him. No. And he let it be known. Yes! Loud. You didn't want Baker.

50:31Shannon Sharpe:And now all of a sudden Baker playing well. We don't want another Baker situation on hand. Why do you care? You didn't believe Baker could play. You didn't believe Baker could leave because you didn't like the way he was. Maybe he was braggadocio. Hey, the man is confident. The man is winning the Heisman Trophy as a walk on. The man walked on in Oklahoma. Yeah. And won the Heisman. And the funny thing about it, too, you know how the NFL works, right, Un? If you believe in whoever is starting at the starting position, you have no problem letting someone else go. You have no problem letting anyone else go.

51:04Yes! That, okay, you know what? We have our quarterback of the future. We have our quarterback of the future. You can just go get any other person to be a backup. Correct. Leave the person that's actually starting. Correct. So that lets you know right there. We don't know. We're not sure. Now, Dylan Gabriel looked goddamn good against the goddamn Vikings.

51:25Shannon Sharpe:Yes. I'm good. We're just going to be off of you. Look, they're going to make him force them to throw the ball down the field. He's not going to be able to check it down all the time, Mocho, and take that short stuff. They're going to start sitting on the quick game. They're going to force him to throw the ball down the field. He's going to have to throw some comebacks. He's going to have to throw some outs. He's going to have to throw some goals, some overs, some digs. He's going to have to do some other things to get guys out of the backpedal. But we'll see. But this notion, they're afraid. Why do you care?

51:54Shannon Sharpe:If I'm not willing to invest time, effort, and energy into this individual, why do I care if they go somewhere else and succeed? You fire me from this job. well, we don't want to fire him because, you know, he might go to somewhere else and blossom. Why do you care? You don't want me here. So let me go somewhere where they do want me. That's going to give me an opportunity no matter what a job is. Yeah. You fired me because clearly you didn't think I was good enough to do the job, whatever the job is, whatever the task that you had set for me, you didn't believe I was good enough to do it. So if I go somewhere else and the task that they have set for me, I'm able to do it.

52:33Shannon Sharpe:Why do you care? Listen, ego and pride make a fool of us all. I think there's something better out there. You know what? Forget that. I'm going to go ahead and let him go. Yes. It already happened once. So now you look at Baker succeeding. Okay, we don't want to make that mistake again. Well, first of all, y 'all general manager ain't Jason Light. So he can't pick players.

52:59Shannon Sharpe:Let's start with that.

53:09So, look, begrudgingly, he had to be number two.

53:17We'll see if and when he gets an opportunity to play,

53:21Shannon Sharpe:but hey, he might not even be able to.

53:25Shannon Sharpe:At least one NFL executive believed the Philadelphia Eagles will trade star wide receiver A.J. Brown this season. According to Diana Rossini of The Athletic, an anonymous AFC general manager predicted Philly would move on from Brown before the November 4th trade deadline, saying, Brown doesn't look frustrated or mad. He looks indifferent. And that's not a good place to be. I think how he moves it would have to be for the right player or pick, but a trade wouldn't surprise me. How he likes deals, especially players' value, override how Brown is being used. Rossini added, if the Eagles do entertain an idea of trading Brown, teams across the league expect to ask him price to be steep.

54:07Shannon Sharpe:Going into the season, Brown has reached 1 ,000 yards receiving in five of his six NFL seasons and earned three Pro Bowl berths, including two over his first two seasons in Philly, 22 and 23. Come on down here to the AFC East, boy. Come on down here to the AFC East. We're going to get it to you. Come on down here in Florida. With Tua? Yeah. We going to throw it. You heard me? At least we going to do that. We going to throw it. We going to try. We going to let that thing rip. And number 11 is available, AJ. Howie. I'm just saying.

54:58Shannon Sharpe:I'm just saying it's going to be interesting to see I think a lot of things are contingent let's see how up until the November 4th trade deadline let's see how they're looking

55:10Shannon Sharpe:but I can definitely see him they're moving him in the offseason I think that's more likely than moving him during the season but

55:19Shannon Sharpe:first of all I think Miami is more of a a sale, a rummage, a fire sale than the Eagles. Oh, yeah, it's coming. Oh, it's coming. It's coming. And so the last thing I'll do if I'm unloading the players, I'm not looking to add a player. And they still got Tyreek on the roster. Now, we'll see how that is. I mean, that injury didn't look good. I mean, I understand what Drew Rosenhaus said. He's looking to return to start the 2026 season. Boy, that would be a miracle. after see after go back and looking at that injury Ocho that would be a miracle if he starts the season a miracle but it wouldn't be you think you think it'd be in Miami next year oh no no no yeah I don't think so yeah no I could have saw a situation they moving on Tariq before the trade the trade deadline or before I think that was more realistic right yeah because they know they're not going anywhere Ocho they're not going anywhere so yeah I could totally see alright Ocho we're back with our newest segment player fade presented by prize picks how it works nightcap staff has made lineups of their picks and either we play their lineup or make some changes choosing more or less how do we do how do we do let's see what you call them had more than 35 yards rushing Jackson Dart AJ Brown had more than five and a half catches.

56:50Shannon Sharpe:Told you. Didn't we win last week, Ash? Oh, yeah, Saquon. And Saquon got none. You answered that one. You got 10, huh? You answered that one. I answered the first three. All right. Here's the four-pick power play of Heather Tamar's slate. Jake Ferguson over six receptions versus Carolina. Fail. I'm going yes. Well, Jake Ferguson, number four, loves it. Yeah, he loves throwing the Fergie. Jake Ferguson? And CD not back either? No. And it seems like, okay, we're going more. Matthew Stafford over 255 against the Ravens. Hell yeah. Make it 400. Got it. DK Metcalf over four receptions versus Cleveland.

57:50Shannon Sharpe:Oh, shit. Greg Newsome gone. If Denzel Ward follows him all over the place, I think he can get four. This might be a frustrating game for DK, though. We're going to give him five. Yeah. More. Baker Mayfield over 239 yards passing, 239.5. So that means he has to have at least 240. Who they playing? Chris Godwin. I think Chris Godwin might be out. The 49ers. Where's this game, Ash?

58:25Man, the way Abuka playing, I wouldn't care. They was playing in Iceland.

58:34Shannon Sharpe:And San Fran. I don't think Chris Godwin is playing, Ocho. Chris Godwin played last week? Yeah. I don't think it's going to make a difference. You saw what Abuka had last week? Yeah, that's only 168. That ain't 239 and a half. I mean, I don't know.

58:57Baker been on fire, boy.

58:58Shannon Sharpe:He has.

59:03Shannon Sharpe:I think Bucky Irving out too, isn't he? Yeah.

59:17Shannon Sharpe:I'm going to say more.

59:22Shannon Sharpe:It's in Tampa. Oh, yeah, I'm definitely going more now.

59:30Shannon Sharpe:I'm going, what you call him? I'm going more. Only what I'm concerned about is DK. Because a lot of times, DK might have that one big one, and then...

59:44Shannon Sharpe:They're going to have to move them around. I'm going to go more. $25 to win$250. Download the app today. Use code SHANNON to get$50 in lineups when you play your first$5 lineup. Download code SHANNON to get$50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. It's good to be right. Alright, Ocho, we're going to get you out of here on this one. Time for Q &A. Hey.

1:00:15It's 625, yo. What time to game? At 2. Oh. So I got to get, my pickup is at 11. So I'm going to give me a quick three hours of sleep.

1:00:28Shannon Sharpe:Jason said Fitzmagic owns Ocho. Fitzmagic carved them up like Christmas turkey. Ocho can never use words flag, foot, or ball again until he pays Unki's money. Ocho was cooking some hot ales for Ocho today. Ocho stuck up the joint. Granny on the sideline did more to you, Ocho. Thanks. I ain't stickin' up nothing. I did what I need to do. I'm just sayin' what the chat said. The chat said you were lookin' I don't care nothing about no chat. I ain't care nothing about whoever said what they just said. I did. Ball came my way. I did what I was supposed to do. And I picked Fitz off. What's I'm talkin' about?

1:01:02Like this. I picked him off like Odell. Let me get that. Uh-uh.

1:01:07Shannon Sharpe:Gary Jenkins said, hey, Ocho, Uncle Ocho, love y 'all's show. But, um, we're at the shelf. We need some fresh hot ales for Ocho. Keep that stove warm for Ocho Bengals tomorrow. You right? Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Joe Flacco. Joe Flacco's that quarterback tomorrow, bruh. It don't matter. Hey, I don't know what the Packers going to do. The Packers going to have to pack it up. All right, man, they're going to take y 'all up. Triple X Copsanity said, first is basketball, now flag football. Chad, you should have been the water boy. Don't want Chad to say basket or ball, flag, foot, or ball. Chad, please.

1:01:43Shannon Sharpe:YouTube me. Google me. Nah. We did Google you on flag football and you some slaw. Nah. Zeldor says Ocho Bengals lose when he goes to the game. His flag football team gets destroyed. Don't let Ocho go to the Broncos game. he tried to curse your teeth with his bad luck. I caught as many touchdowns as Ocho did today. Damn. Only good play Ocho made was that pick, but he forgot how the ball is played and it stood in the end zone and not try to return it back. I didn't want to return it back. I was trying to lull him, but Fitz caught on. I was trying to pretend like I was walking to the sideline and I was going to take off.

1:02:26That was smart. Hit him with that at Antonio Cormardi.

1:02:32Shannon Sharpe:Devon Hassell Motivation said, can I please have a birthday shout out? Thank you for all the laughs throughout my time in the army. I haven't missed the show since 23. Devon, happy birthday, bro. Hopefully you had a great day today. I don't know if it's today or tomorrow, depending on where you are. But thank you, man, for your support. Thank you for listening. Thank you for watching. Chad and I, we greatly, greatly appreciate that, man. We love our lower members, our followers, our subscribers. and thanks to you, Nightcap has become the success it's become. So thank you, man, and happy birthday.

1:03:05Shannon Sharpe:Fins, New Jersey. Is the Big Ten fraudulent beyond Ohio State? Not Indiana for real. Yeah. Indiana for real. Kristen Fields says SEC, the Breeze 10. Ain't nobody playing Minnesota Purdue attention versus UGA versus Bama. NFL draft output is proof enough. Damn, pass natty. Look, I mean, yes, they're the two power conferences, the Big Ten and the SEC. Yes, most of the draft picks and most of the drafted players and players, they're going to come from those two conferences. I mean, it's going to take a miracle for somebody outside of that conference to win a national championship now moving forward, Ocho.

1:03:51Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. I mean, think about all the teams that's in the SEC and all the teams that's in the Big Ten. So to get a team that's from the ACC or, I mean, what, the Big 12?

1:04:09Shannon Sharpe:The AAC, I don't know. I mean, it could happen. I mean, the ACC or maybe Clemson, Independent, Notre Dame. Clemson? Could. But I ain't putting no money down on it. Sonny Griffin said, Unc and Ocho, great show. I wanted to know if you could play for any team in NFL history, who would you play for and why? Unc, you made a great Patriot.

1:04:41Shannon Sharpe:Anybody outside of my Broncos?

1:04:48Shannon Sharpe:Who threw the ball? I mean, in this era, hell, everybody throw the ball, Ocho. It ain't really no bad team if you find a decent quarterback. Because hell, everybody threw the ball 35 times a game.

1:05:07Shannon Sharpe:I think I could have been okay with old Thomas Brady. Yeah, that would be good. For me, I would have loved to play in Miami. I would have loved to play in Miami. Be right there at home. Grandma could come watch me plays. She ain't getting on no plane. Mama could watch me play. All my dudes out of the city, out of Dade County, come watch me play. No, I don't want to play in my home. I don't want to play in Atlanta. Hell no. No. Man, you be spending$1 ,000 every week for tickets, every game for tickets.

1:05:41Shannon Sharpe:But at least they wouldn't be asking – I mean, you go to the Super Bowl, then people start asking, hey, man, let me get a couple tickets. Bro, you ain't even saw me play a preseason game. Right. so the first game you're gonna watch me play in rio it's gonna be the super bowl i'll play

Boy, Ocho, you talk how good you is, but you scored zero in basketball, got smoked in boxing, got ran over at a rodeo, and now zero touchdowns today? Come on, bro. That granny had that many touchdowns, Ocho did. She looked way cooler in sunglasses. Maybe the Bengals can sign up. Yo, Ocho, you did tell him you were going to have three, four touchdowns, though. Who? I mean, what you want me to do? You didn't. I wanted you to have three or four touchdowns, like you said. That's what I want you to do. How am I going to do that without the ball?

1:11:03What you want me to do?

1:11:05Shannon Sharpe:I wanted you to score a touchdown, Ocho, like you promised me you would. I did score a touchdown. I know Ash showed you the clip. Tell Ash to show you that clip of these feet. You scored an extra point. that's what he said yeah well if i have eight touchdowns required the ball five or eight times uh no you didn't score ocho and i'm i'm disappointed in you hey that i could do i play a dependent position

Honestly, honestly, honestly, no one wants to think about HIV, but there are things that everyone can do to help prevent it. Things like PrEP. PrEP stands for pre-exposure prophylaxis, and it means routinely taking prescription medicine before you're exposed to HIV to help reduce your chances of getting it. PrEP can be about 99 % effective when taken as prescribed. It doesn't protect against other STIs, though, so be sure to use condoms and other healthy sex practices.
