1:46Shannon Sharpe:Okay, we've got a special guest joining us. we got Pro Bowl safety. Julian Love going to his first Super Bowl. J Love, has it sunk in that you're going to the Super Bowl? How y 'all doing? We're doing great, bro. Yeah, I mean, it's a little surreal for sure. You know, the motions were flowing last night. Folks were celebrating. But, yeah, it sunk in for sure. So you're getting, as time is winding down, you're like, okay, we got a four-point lead. Just nothing cheap, nothing deep. keep everything in front of us, keep them inbound, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, clock, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick it away.
2:24Shannon Sharpe:So when Puka caught that ball, you're like, damn, we let him out of bounds. But you saw the ref, and you saw the official kept doing this, you're like, it's over. So the first thing that goes through your mind, you know like, okay, this game is over. What goes through your mind immediately? I threw my helmet somewhere. I'm trying to throw kisses to the family up in the suite, celebrate with the fans. They were going crazy. But yeah, I mean, our offense did their job in that four-minute drill. You know, they burned their timeouts. So they had a whole field to go, 25 seconds left, no timeouts. I mean, that's a challenge.
3:00And they completed two balls, but they were both inbounds. And so, I mean, that's tough sledding for a team that needed more than a field goal in that situation. So, yeah, we felt good.
3:11Shannon Sharpe:So now it's a situation. You played this team. They've kind of had your guys' number, but you go back out there and you do a job on them the final game of the season. You know there's a probably 80 % chance that you're probably going to have to see this team again, a division opponent that we've already seen twice. We see them twice a year. You know there's probably a better than 80 % chance in order for us to reach our final destination. We're probably going to have to go through this damn team again. Damn it! Man, we looked at it. We looked across the playoff bracket, and we just felt good for real.
3:47I mean, NFC West this year was just a division of demons. The Niners somehow were finding a way to win games despite losing all their star guys. And the Rams were just the offense, man. They're so high-powered. Stafford, McVay, that's just a combo that no one wanted to see for real. But we knew situationally on defense that's all we had to do. I can't remember the exact number, but they got one or two third-down conversions. so we're sharp there, we're sharp on fourth down, we're sharp in the red zone at the end of the game and we're sharp end of the half everything that was critical we stepped up for it, some of the other stuff yeah we gotta get back to the most definitely obviously I want to say congratulations JL on all your accomplishments which you guys have achieved defensively, collectively not only as a defense but as a team as well but I wanted to ask you being nominated for the Walter Peyton Man of the Year.
4:42What does that mean to you, boss man? Man, that's special. You know, I'm a Chicago kid. And so Walter Peyton, that's like a, he's a superhero. That's how my pops raised me. That's how my grandparents raised me. That's what it is. You know, Walter Peyton was a superhero. And so to be nominated, you know, it was definitely emotional. Everybody back home was going crazy because they just know what it means. And for me, I mean, I was just, I don't know, I was just being myself for real. So, you know, I do a lot with postpartum mothers, a lot of kids, obviously. I have my youth camp for free. I don't like charging kids.
5:21I know my parents are grinding, paying that entrance fee for these camps and all these things, and, you know, they did it, thankfully, but I know it's not easy. And so just everything. It was cool to be nominated, but, yeah, it doesn't stop, you know.
5:34Shannon Sharpe:That's dope. That's dope. The team that you're going against, look, this is a rematch of Super Bowl XLIX. And I think there's a 99.99999 chance. If y 'all get the ball on the one-yard line, y 'all going to hand that damn ball up to King of Walker in a similar situation, or you guys going to lose your damn mind on Clint. And I know Clint very well. I played with his father. But has it, like, okay, have you given yourself an opportunity? Have you watched any film on the Patriots and kind of what they like to do offensively? Or are you just taking it in? okay, we'll start getting to them on Wednesday.
6:11Shannon Sharpe:We got tomorrow off. You probably came in today. Okay, we're going to leave Sunday to head down to San Francisco, and we'll leave Monday. Get your ticket situation. The hotel, this is what. You got the plane situation. When I went with J-Love, my family was leaving from where they were from. And so I had seats on the plane that I ended up giving to my best friend, like, hey, your family's here. they can take those seats. That's kind of the planning that y 'all had today. You brought everybody in. You explained when you're leaving. The hotel situation, the ticket situation, look, let's get all that out the way.
6:48Shannon Sharpe:Because once we get started on Wednesday, we don't need any distractions. You hit it exactly on the head. That was the whole day today. Logistics, my head's in a blender. You know, the team celebrated last night, so we're trying to figure it out this morning. and yeah, we had some uncomfortable conversations this morning trying to tell the family, all right, this is the situation. You know, it's a game. I got to win a game in two weeks. This ain't a family vacation in San Fran. And so, yeah, there's a lot of that today. We treated it like a Monday. I mean, you heard our head coach talk, McDonald.
7:22He's very much direct. He's very straight line. And he just, he treated today like a normal Monday. He celebrated, watched the good plays, did all the things. tomorrow's an off day and Wednesday we'll get after and so we just follow the same method we have a little more time I haven't watched them to be honest too much just our paths just didn't cross too much you know I'm watching film on other teams and so yeah we're excited to just take a dive for sure hey before before you came to the Seahawks I think if I'm not mistaken my year served me correct 2023 what was the selling point what was the selling point based on other places you could have gone.
7:59What made Seattle the destination for you? Yeah, honestly, it was Pete Carroll, the straight up and down. You know, I had three head coaches in four years in New York, went up to the Giants. Tough slut. You know, we were figuring it out. But, you know, my last year in New York was like my first time as a full-time starter. I played a lot before that, but first time as a full-time starter, And so I was looking to grow. You know, some people in the Giants building just didn't see that. And, you know, I was 24 at the time. So I'm like, man, I'm young. You know, I left school early, you know, back when people did that.
8:40And, yeah, it was P. Carroll. He just said, listen, we have two high-paid safeties. We have Maul, as we all know, and Kovac Diggs, who are my mentors, who are my guys. They said, but, you know, Maul's kind of dealing with some injury stuff. We need you to come in. And we just have a clear vision for how we want to play you and deploy you into everything. And I just trusted it. Pete Carroll sold me. And so that year, I mean, I was the third safety for real. And I made the Pro Bowl. You know, I accomplished a lot of things. I earned a lot of what I have now because I just took a leap of faith for real.
9:15Have you always played safety growing up? Most of the time, you know, we play other positions. And as we got older, we were fixated on one thing, especially when it was time to get to the next level. You've always been a safety all your life, or you played other things? No. You know, when you're a kid, man, you just play whatever. Who can score the most points? Little League, you're a running back, of course. High school, running back receiver, return kicks. Did all the things. Played kind of linebacker-ish safety. Because in high school corner, I mean, nobody's really guarding people for real in high school.
9:50So this is where I can ever tackle. And in college at Notre Dame, I played corner. Okay. And so I was kind of in the draft as a tweener for real. You know, people were like, is he a nickel? Is he a corner that just tackles well? Size, speed, all that would kind of be analyzed. And thankfully, a mentor was like, listen, get some reps at free safety. I think, you know, your skill set, you can move, you can tackle, you do all the things, and I think it'll serve you well. And so, yeah, I randomly have starts at corner, nickel, free, strong, all in the league in my first few years. And so, yeah, I bounced around a little bit.
10:27Shannon Sharpe:Jay Love, you said something very important that you relayed to your family that this is not a vacation. Because the family, you're going to probably, guys, go get that in there Sunday or Monday. The family's going to come in on Thursday. And the way I approached it, I went and saw my family when they got in. I saw the kids, we hung out. And then I didn't see the kids again until after the game. because I'm there to win a game. I'm not there to go sightseeing. I'm not there to – because the first Super Bowl we had was in SeaWorld. So you know the kids all decided about SeaWorld. We're going to SeaWorld, SeaWorld.
10:59Shannon Sharpe:See all the – yes, that was my mom, my sister, my girlfriend at the time. That was their job. Y 'all handle the kids. Don't call me for nothing unless it's an absolute emergency, and then I'm going to meet you guys at wherever you need to be at. But other than that, you have to relay that because they're like, oh, man, that game ain't until Sunday. No, no, no, no, no, no. the game is one people don't realize games are won monday through friday you go out there on the field that ain't nothing you win games on monday through friday that's when you want to get so i want to ask you this are you guys installing because and then have everything as a dress rehearsal or are you waiting till you actually get to san fran before you do installation no no we're getting after it uh we're starting up i think i think actually we have an extra day off i think we have a Wednesday off and we're getting, we're treating Thursday like it's a Wednesday of the week.
11:51Yep. Mike, my habits in full pads, knowing him. So we might just be. Yeah, man, we were in full pad like a week or two ago. You got to get that callus, get that monkey off your back. And so we did, but that's been the whole season for real. Like we're, you know, to us on the inside, we're like a team of nobodies, you know, to most people, not a lot of star power. You know, a lot of people say, and we just approach every day the same. You know, so, yeah, we're going to get after, you know, our Wednesday the same way we always do. I have our meetings, you know, get in at, you know, however early you're getting in and leaving at 530 or so.
12:32Yeah, we got to lock in. I mean, I told my family, listen, I can see you exactly right Thursday. We have NFL honors, so maybe I can see you Thursday. But then my normal Friday, I like to get in. I'm already in that mode Friday for a game. I'll do a disservice to you guys if I'm trying to play host because I'm going to be quiet and in that mode I think they know what time it is
12:54Shannon Sharpe:Are you married? Did you have a family? Yeah, married I started dating my wife when I was 16 years old Oh my goodness, congrats Yeah, I got lucky It's hard nowadays for these young guys Yeah So I got lucky We've been married for a few years now Kids? Son, yeah, two years old. Then we have another one due in March. Oh, congratulations, man. Good boy. Yeah, thank you. Thank you. But that's the thing. You got, hey, wife, hey, you got to handle this. You got to handle it. Because, hey, I don't know if and when I'll ever get back to this situation. So I want to seize this moment. Mom, dad, hey, wife got all y 'all set up.
13:33Shannon Sharpe:Y 'all don't need me for anything. Let me handle this game. When we win this game, wherever y 'all want to go, I got you. Yep. We'll have time. We got an off-season. We can do all that. We live. I live five minutes with my folks back in Chicago. Oh, really? We'll have that time. That's dope. That's dope. Yeah, we'll have that time. So, yeah, wife's playing, mediator, manager, all the things. She's putting in overtime right now. Once all this is over, once the dust clears and y 'all win the Super Bowl, you hoist that trophy, everything settles in, what do you like to do outside of the game of football?
14:11You know, any hobbies you might have? I mean, you cook, read books. I mean, whatever it may be. Do you have anything that you're excited to do once everything settles down? Man, I'm a homebody for real. You know, I get back to Chicago. I train. I hang out with the family. You know, I wake up. I enjoy playing. My son will be two boys this offseason. So I chill. I do like to golf. I'm average, but I enjoy just kind of getting out. You're going to have a few drinks with guys. You're going to play some music. I'm more of that type of golfer.
14:46Shannon Sharpe:You got too much muscle, J-Love. You got to lose some of that muscle to be good at golf. You got to be free through the shoulders. Yeah, I don't want to see a video of you swinging a golf club. I might not look right. I look like LeBron swinging a golf club. A few weeks ago, Greg Bell tweeted, Julia Love said he and former Giants teammate Leonard Williams hugged in the locker room postgame at the 49ers and said eat to each other. Seahawks winning the division, making the playoffs as top seed. We made it. GM John Snyder walked by and said you're welcome yeah man when you look at you you spoke about the journey that you went on you go to the Giants and they don't really give you the opportunity that you think you deserve and you have to take a leap of faith you go to a team that got two starting safeties and both have gone to the Pro Bowl, been perennial all pros and you say what that's the perfect spot for me I'm going to Seattle to play behind two Perennial Pro Bowl players.
15:43Shannon Sharpe:Yes, I can't think of a better place for J-Love to go. This is home. When you told your wife that you were signing with Seattle, and she said, hold on, honey. Jamal and them Croninger Diggs? Are you crazy? Chicago don't want you? There's not another team that needs a safety. So this is the only team. First of all, you pulling me way out. Yeah, that part right there, yeah. Okay, you pulling me way. that's a six hour flight baby yeah she looked at the map and she was like oh man four flights out from Chicago yeah it's going to at least be five hours yeah it was a leap of faith for real but at that point just like I'm sure you guys did there's no higher belief in me than me I felt like I was playing my best ball and I was climbing I was young I was hungry and so the value wasn't there for some people with the Giants, cool, I'm going to go make a shake somewhere else.
16:39And so it was an element of betting on myself. And, yeah, with that conversation with Leo in the locker room, Leonard Williams, man, Big Cat, I played – it's my seventh season. I played every season with Big Cat. He's the only team that I've had on two different teams. My first year in New York, he got traded from the Jets to the Giants. We played four years together. My first year, then I signed as a free agent to Seattle, and he gets traded to Seattle that year. And, like, we're best friends. And so that tweet Or that quote's a little wrong I said we made it out You made it out We made it out We found a way Man we're around Some like-minded people Some dogs Some people who are pretty selfless And yeah thankfully that GM Made that call Because yeah It's night and day I mean listen Be careful I mean obviously They gave you the opportunity You never want to say anything anything bad about him.
17:36I like the way you've been very cautious about that. But my grandma always told me, you know, closed mouths don't get fed. So I'm going to go ahead and be the one to ask, can I get a ticket to the Super Bowl? No.
17:48Shannon Sharpe:I saw what they're trying to charge me, people who are in the game. Yeah, I was shook. I remember the tickets used to be, I think the max ticket it might have been like$1 ,200 when I played, uh, Jaluh. But I think now they're probably three, four, five thousand. That's a top two. He didn't even hesitate. He said no fast as hell. Hey, do you still get 13 with two comps? Yeah. Or can you get more? Yeah, it's, uh, I think it is like 13, two comps. Maybe, maybe, maybe 14 to two comps. So you can, you can, you get allocated them, but yeah, they said we don't get that off you. oh they're going to a lot of that oh you playing 50, 60, 70 80 ,000 dollars for those seats yeah yeah they told us today you know usually have like a lap infant we have a two year old whatever they said everybody need a ticket you can be six weeks old with a baby they need a ticket to this game you better be glad they ain't charging your wife she pregnant so that's still two seats hey you're going to charge me one and a half crazy but the year before guys don't know this this is between us used to get up to 30 tickets for the Super Bowl dang yeah 30 decent I tell you off camera what changed that but we don't want to put family business in the street man congrats before you go we're going to get you out on this what's it like every day to see jsn and to have to deal with him on a regular basis because you see him every day and you kind of know his movements he does a great job of staying level because a lot of times when guys when guys go to stop they'll drop down but if you watch him he kind of like he's like just floating on air so everything looks the same he'll run out it looks the same he'll run in it looks the same he'll run a dig it looks the same he runs the seam he runs to go everything looks the same so it's really hard to get a bead on what he's actually doing so what's it like watching him every single day no he's special y 'all got to get out and see him like in person go to work uh he's special like you said everything's the same those are the toughest receivers you know you can be fluid in a route and be able to break on every step and you're you're moving at full speed there's there's there's there's three to five of the of the league pretty much.
20:26He's one of them. So natural. Then out of the route, natural pass catcher. You saw him with the one-handed grab. Just natural. I think a lot of his teammates back in college, back in his Ohio State days, they said the same thing. Like, man, he's special. And he's just a guy, man. He's chill. He's cool. He's a young single dude enjoying himself. But when it comes to work, he's serious. We know he's for real. So he needs to get more attention. Obviously, he's getting this year, but he's a serious one. Listen, I got a small sample size of him, obviously, seeing what he did at Ohio State, seeing what he did in the Rose Bowl.
21:03I hold a wide receiver workshop for all the NFL receivers. He was one of the receivers that came out with Jamar Chase and T. Higgins and Cortland Sutton, Judy. And being able to see him now up close and personal and to see his footwork and his ability to start and stop and transition and get in and out of breaks, I was like, what the hell? Top tier. So then, so when I see what he does this season on film and on camera, I'm like, okay, now it makes sense why they let DK go. Okay, now it makes sense why they let Tyler Lockett go. So I'm like, dog, unbelievable. He did his song. Unbelievable. He's nice.
21:40He's nice. Now, to have his production with the style of offense we play, you know, it's run heavy. I think we run it at the highest clip in the league. the West Coast. Oh, you absolutely going to run it. Yeah, yeah. To get that production out of him is crazy.
21:55Shannon Sharpe:But when you play action off that run and when Kenneth Walker III is running it like he's running it, and when you play action off of it, that's why you got guys running skydive free. JSN is still an excellent route runner, but he's even more running because those safeties like, damn, we got to get down to the box. We got to stop this because we can't let this guy get ahead of steam. But he's special. even like Ocho was talking about in that Rose Bowl and you're watching him you're like is this team that bad or this dude really that good because you know you don't see look we see receivers get 175 200 but to see a guy go over 300 yards receiving because so I'm asking myself is this man really this good or they that bad at defense and come to find out no he's that good Yeah, had no answers.
22:42Shannon Sharpe:Had no answers for him. Man, well, congratulations, man. 26:21Shannon Sharpe:Broncos linebacker Dre Greenlaw said transitioning from San Francisco to Denver was very tough because how much more physical demanding Sean Payton coaching style was. He told reporters, Sean is old school. He's going to do six days on, one day off. He's got his way of doing things. You're going to be practicing three hours on Wednesday, three hours on Friday. Shanahan is the complete opposite. He wants you fresh. Well, hold on. I thought the CBA didn't allow him to be out on the field that long. Don't start me alive. Yeah. The 49ers have never won a game on the Kyle Shanahan when trailing by eight points or more in the fourth quarter.
27:00Shannon Sharpe:Since 2017, Kansas City leads the NFL with seven wins in 30 such situations with a comeback rate of 23.3. San Francisco is dead last when trailing by eight points in the fourth quarter. They're 0-51.
27:21yeah wow i can i can believe what he's saying too uh about sean payton and obviously his yes sean is old school he's old school i'm sure he's had to uh adjust a little bit and adapt to the new cba and and the rules and the way players wear pads and the way the way they wear shells but he gonna get the most out of you he gonna get the most out of you and that's probably the
27:44Shannon Sharpe:reason for their success literally and figuratively that's probably the reason for their success okay chat uncle's gone how y 'all doing today cool okay bet i'm doing good too that's pretty much it y 'all like my jersey
28:10Flamingo? No Brazilian team? No Cool Where Unk go?
28:20Hey chat y 'all wanna hear a joke?
28:25Chat y 'all wanna hear a joke? Can they even hear me? Ash can you hear me? Okay should I save my joke to unk it back
28:41hey chat what do you call a wondering nun like a nun that's wandering around what do you call a wondering nun
29:01anybody
29:07Anybody? Nobody knows? A wondering nun is called a Roman Catholic.
29:24Shannon Sharpe:I heard it.
29:29Shannon Sharpe:Back to our normally schedule programming. It is a transition, Ocho. If
29:40Shannon Sharpe:I've always felt it's easy to go from difficult to easy as opposed to easy to difficult. That's why they say you can always lighten up on your kids, but it's harder for you to be light and try to toughen up on your kids. And Dre, look, I know this West Coast system. and know how it operates. And that's how Mike was. Mike says, I want you fresh. I don't want to waste all this effort on the practice field. I don't want to leave this. You leave your best material on the cutting room floor. Nah, I'm saving this for Sunday. I want you guys fresh. I want you guys to get off your feet. I want you guys to start mentally preparing and getting ready for this game.
30:23Shannon Sharpe:And I want you fast. Mike didn't beat the Ocho. We had on pads. we put on pass Thursday. So I wore pass basically 12 plays in my entire 12 plays, 12 plays a week when I was Mike Shanahan. Now, once we got to probably about week 10, we were completely out of pass. Yeah, keep the body fresh. And obviously everyone knows keep everybody upright, don't tackle nobody and stuff like that. I remember even the days when we would have pads on, I got to the point where I would just wear my shells. I would wear my shells over, I mean, obviously I wouldn't wear my pads and everybody knew they weren't going to hit me anyway.
31:11I just didn't want to put no pads on until it was time to play ball on Sunday. Right.
31:17Shannon Sharpe:I mean, John would wear heads because he needed to be used to throwing with those pads on. But nah, we warm up in them. Once we got to, we did a little team stuff. Then once we got to 907, hey, I went down there. I would run, you know, a couple of routes, 101. We had the pads. But that's how Mike was. And it was easy for me to adopt Mike's system because I had Coach Reeves. Coach Reeves was really, really old school. He learned under Coach Tom Landry. Coach Tom Landry, you had on Friday. Whoa, whoa, whoa. So shells were shoulder pads and shorts. Friday? Yeah. And pads on Fast Friday, huh? Yes.
32:01Shannon Sharpe:Oh, my goodness. Yes. Shells were shoulder pads and shorts. Not the shells that you're talking about, like those little... Yeah, the little socks. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. No, that's not what shells were. Shells were shoulder pads and shorts. Other than that, you had on everything. And Dan didn't allow you to wear... You had to wear your full uniform. You had on thigh pads, knee pads. Yeah, okay, that's. You had all that on. Yeah, absolutely. That's Belichick too. Yeah, absolutely. Hey, had you out there looking like that man on that poster. In the equipment room? That's exactly.
32:39Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, he had all the pads on his arms and had a birdcage face mask. You come out there. That's how Coach Reeves had your ass out there. You come out there with Belichick and you try to come out there with no thigh pads, no knee pads. You don't have your hip pads in. You're going back inside. He had you wearing everything like you was the model in the equipment room on how to dress properly. Yeah. Yeah, that's what it was. Those were what shells were. Shells where you actually shoulder pads and you got to have on shorts. You know, back then, don't you? They don't have them now. You remember those grays, those cotton gray shorts?
33:16Shannon Sharpe:You have probably had them in college. Okay. We had the cotton grave. Before we had the Nike tech, that high-tech stuff, they were all cotton. You know, cotton is rotten. Right, right, right. Boy, after a while, you can't get that stench out of cotton. Man, boy. They get the stinking, huh? What? Man.
33:50Shannon Sharpe:Look, I don't think that's – and I know people are going to say, you know, he's making excuses. I don't believe that's the reason why they lost. He's just speaking. Oh, in general. He had to train himself. He had to learn that this is what's expected. Look, I've been there. Not during the season. Not during the season. Training camp, we had some three-hour practices. Not during the season. I think the longest practice we had – we normally like – Thursday was our longest practice. We're out there two hours. Normally on a Wednesday, probably out there like an hour 45. Friday, if it's really good, you get to 115.
34:30Shannon Sharpe:You're not going over 130. Because I'm trying to get to those wings. You know, probably, hey, you don't have wings and pizza on Friday. You have wings and pizza. So, you know, I got four wings, a biscuit, and I have pizza too. I got, you know, have pizza, have my own pizza. my stuff have my name written on it because everybody be done pick through everything. Man, you know how everybody come in there and people don't be washing their hands. They come in there straight with their gloves. They got their gloves in and talk passes. They hit somebody. Nah, hell, you laughing on you. I said, nah, I'm done with this.
35:01Shannon Sharpe:I'm done. So they started out like, look, I told Mike, I said, Mike, all I want is four wings and two biscuits. And a pizza. I want pizza. I want hamburger. I said, Mike, these young people are going to be washing their hands. They come straight off the field. Nobody takes their gloves off. They still got tape on their fingers. And they go, I said, I'm done with that mic. He's like, all right, 84. So they have, you know, 30, 40 boxes. They have like seven, eight boxes of 21 pieces. And then they have wings and they have drumsticks and they have, I don't know why I keep calling them short thighs.
35:45Shannon Sharpe:So they have that and then they have, you know, like seven, eight boxes of biscuits. They have, you know, bags and bags of honey and ketchup and stuff like that. But I was like, nah, I'm good. I'm good. I said, so I'll get my pizza, my chicken. I go eat, you know, sometimes me and Burns, you know, we, cause you know, that's the time to cut the food. Oh yeah. We know how we, you know how we do it. Absolutely. Absolutely. But, I mean, that just goes to show you the greatest of Mahomes, that he's won seven of those 30 games. The Vikings are 8 for 55. The Packers are 7 for 50. The Bengals are 2 for 61.
36:33That wasn't necessary. I'm just saying. I understand. I'm putting that out there. I know you're reading it off. I'm just saying that wasn't necessarily.
36:41Shannon Sharpe:The Broncos, we 7 of 66. Yeah, that ain't. What are the Ravens? The Ravens are 3 for 37. My team's up there. So both my team's in the top 10. So I'm cool. Both your teams? Oh, now they both your team. Nah. Don't do that. I'm just saying. I'm just saying. You want to show about your team the other night, but now they both your team. Okay. What you mean? Listen. Listen, I'm a Bronco fan. I'm a Raven fan. I'm sure you're a Ravens fan. I'm sure you're a Bronco fan. I'm just saying your faith in your Broncos, it wasn't sitting too high. You weren't too boisterous. You weren't screaming to the mountaintops about your goddamn Broncos before that game.
37:23What was I screaming about, Ocho? You said you didn't have any faith because the quarterback who was starting.
37:28Shannon Sharpe:I didn't. That's why I wasn't as upset had I been, had I would have been, had Bo started. If Bo had played and we lost, yeah, I'd have been disappointed. extremely disappointed but with Stidham I know what he is everybody knew what he was I think Bronco country was trying to hold out fate that he could do it but that is that man stop
37:56well I think everybody probably in Cancun by now huh
38:03Shannon Sharpe:they definitely probably out of Denver I mean, but a lot of people now, Ocho, they live in the city where they play. A lot of us, we went home. I mean, you know, we were home. I think I've been to Denver one time. Denver's a nice city. Denver's a nice city. I wasn't able to see everything they have to offer, but the little bit I did see, it's a nice place. Food was good. The people were very nice. Everything was very, very green. Obviously, I'm sure it's cold and snowing there right now, but it was cool.
38:39Shannon Sharpe:Oh. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He had to come back. He's going to have to fix that. What happened? I mean, he doesn't have any come from behind victories when he's down by eight points in the fourth quarter. Oh. Yeah. Now, it didn't help that he had some, you know, he had C.J. Beathard and he had some guys that he was trying to win with. But I would have thought that with Jimmy G or Purdy, that we'd have at least one or two.
39:11Shannon Sharpe:But I think it just goes to show you the greatness of Patrick Mahomes. That's what this tells me because he's at the top of the chart.
39:26Shannon Sharpe:The Guppies won 470. The who? The Guppies. Are you talking about the Dolphins? Oh, my bad. I am. I mean, they just as bad as the ponies then. No, don't do that. I'm just saying. Don't do that. When last time y 'all won a playoff game? Both y 'all at home. Oh, what's the point? What's the point? When last time y 'all won a playoff? Y 'all didn't even make the playoffs. We didn't make the playoffs, but y 'all right back at home. Y 'all right with us. With Joe. Y 'all got Joe Burrow. You say Joe one of the top three quarterbacks, and y 'all can't make the playoffs? Joe got hurt this year. Don't do that.
40:02Shannon Sharpe:What about last year? Did he get hurt last year? Yeah, he was hurt last year too. oh yeah yeah yeah don't don't do that you talk about you talk about the guppies i mean we talk about your ponies because the same place as dolphins at the same place the broncos at right now nah y 'all been underwater we just got here what well we got there two weeks two weeks before y 'all what's the difference what's this no ain't no different y 'all got there three weeks before us we all in the same place right now that's all that matter doing taxes the old way meant handing everything off and just hoping things were moving but now you can feel confident your taxes are being handled right with intuit turbo tax now you match with a turbo tax full service expert just upload your documents right in the app and boom they take it from there start to finish you've got a dedicated expert working your return they check every deduction and credit to help you get the best possible outcome so you can feel confident you're getting every dollar you deserve.

43:04Shannon Sharpe:According to ESPN's John Weinfuss, multiple sources said that Kyler Murray's trade value increased following Dante Moore's announcement that he was returning to the Ducks. One less quarterback on the market makes desperation increase, one source told ESPN. Kyler is expected to be a top trade candidate this offseason, and the lack of quarterback prospects in the 2026 draft will only increase the demand for him. Fernando Mendoza is projected to be selected number one overall by the Raiders, while no other quarterback in this year's class has proven to be worthy of a first-round pick as of yet. an NFC source told ESPN that starting price for Murray could start with a second round pick the source added that if the Cardinals can trade Murray they will I think Kyler Murray might end up in New York I think he might for some reason I don't know for some god forsaken reason I think he's going to end up in New York versatile player that can do a multitude of things obviously not very tall But what he lacks in height, he's somewhat good in other areas.
44:17Aaron Glenn, knowing how to use him to be able to manipulate his skill set and take advantage of what he can do well is a possibility. I'm trying to think of other teams that might need a quarterback. Raiders, that's out. Tennessee, that's out. Obviously, all the main teams, the Ravens, Texans, they're out. Chiefs are out. chat chat any any thought on other teams outside of the New York Jets that that that could land Kyler Murray I think Cleveland be in play
44:54Shannon Sharpe:I mean you have to look okay NFC NFC South I think Tampa's good Atlanta is Atlanta good I mean do they want to bring Kyler Murray in knowing that wherever he goes he's going to be the starter. I don't think they create that quarterback controversy over in Atlanta. No. Shook. They're sold on Shook in New Orleans, I believe. I don't see a place for him in Carolina. Let's go to the NFC East. Dallas is good. The Giants are good. The Commanders are good. The Eagles are good. Let's go to the NFC North. Chicago is good. Detroit's good. Green Bay is good. Minnesota are we sure I'm gonna throw two names out there without going through divisions I say Minnesota and I say maybe even Miami so my three teams for Kyler Murray New York Jets Miami Dolphins or the Minnesota Vikings Chad what you think Chad are the Steelers in play that that's another one that's another one I'm thinking Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers give it one more run if that doesn't happen then the Steelers are also in play I'm just trying to figure out but remember the reports that you know that he and Rodgers wouldn't see an eye to eye at the end of his tenure there I don't know I ain't no telling with Aaron Rodgers you know how he does.
46:34I mean, he loves being in that position of power to be able to control the narrative, whether he stays or goes. And I don't know.
46:48Shannon Sharpe:So we'll see where Kyler ends up. Coach Prime has implemented a new system to hold players accountable, taking their NIL money. Colorado will now issue fines for attendance violations. among those is the$2 ,500 for mispractice if you're late is going to cost you$500 late for meeting or film session$400 no show meeting or film session$2 ,000 late to strength and conditioning$1 ,000 a no show strength and conditioning 1500 late the treatment a thousand no show for treatment 1500 in addition Colorado players could be fined up to 2 ,500 for violation of team rules and could be fined up to 5 ,000 for public or social media misconduct.
47:37Shannon Sharpe:Both are based on severity. Ocho, do you like this? Absolutely, because all he's doing is preparing you for the next level. So everything that Prime has in place is the exact same goddamn thing you're going to have to deal with at the next level, but just add another goddamn zero. That's all. So we're preparing. You're getting played like a pro. you have to conduct yourself like a pro therefore now that you're getting nil money now you're going to get fined like a pro it's a part of the business this is i'm glad that he implemented this and i think other college colleges implement it as well so players can get a little bit more structure and discipline when it comes to their approach to the game not just playing the game for said money that you're receiving there are other factors that go into that once you become said pro in a sense I like it for the simple fact you have to have accountability and as a young man or young adult there's going to be accountability you can't keep showing up late to the job and expect to have a job if you have intentions of going to the NFL this is what it's going to cost if you have tensions on being on someone's job you keep showing up late you keep missing you're going to get fired now I understand when these kids weren't making any money, it was hard to find a kid.
48:59Shannon Sharpe:These kids making money now. So you want to be a pro, you want to get treated like, you want to get paid like a pro, you get treated like a pro. I don't know why people have a problem with this. So you want a guy to make$4 million and then he gets to come to practice. If he wants to come to practice, he'll come. If he wants to go to film study, he'll go. If he wants to go to study hall, he'll go. If he wants to go to workout, he'll go. With no ramifications? Some got to give.
49:30somebody
49:32Shannon Sharpe:I'm just confused by oh this is not good what do you mean it's not good wait enforcing responsibility is not good no because you know a lot of people don't like responsibility they don't like accountability let me come let me show up this is what you're going to get as long as I'm doing my job Who cares if I'm late? You can't do that in the corporate world You can't show up just because you do your job And pick and choose what time you want to walk in them people's office That's not the way that works Come on now Come on now And in prime, prime keeping it sweet You know, 500 here 1 ,000 here 2 ,500 Boy, you better add another zero to that once you make it to the league I wish you would miss a meeting late to who late to what but I I don't understand I just want to know in all my life I've never missed a practice unless I was injured I'm talking about how you are healthy you 100 % and you just not go to practice or you just not come to not come to work I'm just trying to figure out and to hear people like well he didn't show up I'm like yeah really i never i never heard of that before is that i'm like how is that even possible yeah never heard of that before not showing up no missing practice for a specific reason yes but just not showing about the blue no well that's normally you call and not not not five minutes before you got to go to practice you let them know in advance that's what you want to do on your job You just don't say, well, just not show up.
51:23Shannon Sharpe:You just like, look, there's an emergency. And as soon as you find out the emergency, you let the people know, your employer knows that I'm not gonna be able to make it to work. I have an emergency, a kid, my wife, my girlfriend, X, Y, and Z, whatever the case may be. But just to not show up, or just not come to practice, or to be, look, it's a different time now. I mean, it's different. It's just different now, Ocho. It just is. And if you work in these occupations, you just got to accept that. That's why I couldn't do it. I just believe professional and pro, one is the occupation of which you do, and the pro is how you handle said occupation.
52:08Shannon Sharpe:I just don't believe that you should just let, oh, whatever, it's not that big of a deal. He'll couple of minutes late. It always starts off as a couple of minutes. then it goes to five then it goes to 10 then it goes to 30 then it goes to an hour well as long as he's doing his job i can tell people that's never employed anybody or never run a business and then more times than not they're probably the people that showing up late most of the time
52:34Shannon Sharpe:i just i i i've never i've never understood it i'm never gonna and i don't care in here look we whatever you need to do in your free time you got free time mocho But when it's time to do Club She-She, when it's time to do She-She Media, let's get it done. Let's be where we're supposed to be, when we're supposed to be. When you got your time off, do whatever you want.
53:01Shannon Sharpe:Go skydiving. Go bungee jumping. Just get your, hey, just have them bungee your ass right in here when you're supposed to be at work. That's all I care about. But I don't have a problem with Coach Prime. I'm sure there are probably other institutions Maybe Coach Prime is the only one that advertised it, but I'm sure there are other institutions that when you're dealing with this kind of money, and everybody doesn't make Jeremiah Smith$4.3 million, but guys that are making money, well, because you have to be making money in order for them to take money. So you –
53:41Shannon Sharpe:Even jobs that I hated, Ocho, and I wanted to be late. my grandma get your ass on up you getting out of here i don't want to go work in the hot ass sun for 12 hours to make five dollars make ten dollars that's it you yeah what the hell you think no 50 day jobs back then man i remember when i started uh uh working in savannah and i was making 50 a day oh show do you know what 50 a day was back in 1986 87 88 but i was a lot of money to infinity all the week i know and then a half a day on half a day on saturday that's 25 275 what boy you couldn't hit me in the ass with a red apple that man get that man hey that man counting them twitter hey i have a hand out here like this oh 20 40 60 8 100 24 68 100 20 25 hey you feeling good huh feel real hey you feel like you're on top of the world with that money what yeah you ain't got listen i know boy i know hey don't i don't want no hundred because 200 you don't feel like you got nothing but give me 20.
54:51Shannon Sharpe:as a matter of fact give me 10 i need it stacked up i need it stacked up make me feel hey make me hey give me 10 10. let me hey let me let me let me out let me get that thing right there boy i come home sat after the eight hey roll that thing up in the rubber band get granted by 50 get granted by 50 dollars And the rest is to me. All to you, huh? I put that thing in a rubber band. I feel like I'm on top of the world. Ocho, you know what I used to do, Ocho? I go. I had a convenience store. Give me 21. And what I do, I get that old Niagara spray and put that thing on the ironing board. You hear that thing.
55:36Shannon Sharpe:That thing be crouched up. Nice and sharp. That thing just came out of the counter.
55:44Shannon Sharpe:you know what I mean boy you couldn't tell me nothing boy I had a I had a twin around that you ain't had no rubber band you had a rubber band nah I had no rubber band I had a rubber band I brought a rubber band around that thing twice make it look like it's something it wasn't really nothing it looked like something though back then I think I think I stopped carrying a bill for, I probably was like a sophomore. Okay. Cause I got tired of, cause you know you carry a bill for too much, you gonna have an outline on your back pocket. I was like, nah. And besides they have nothing in there but bills anyway.
56:25Shannon Sharpe:Cause that's what my grandfather did. All the bills, he had his phone bill, he had a light bill, the gas bill all in there. So, but man, there was a time. And so I was just like, you know what? If I could get my, when you think about it Ocho if we could get our ass up to go work a 50 a hundred dollar a day job you mean to tell me you can't get your ass up to go work a hundred thousand dollars a week job or a two hundred thousand dollar a week job or a five hundred thousand dollar a week job you gonna be late to that you only gotta tell me what time to be there once just once one time
57:10Shannon Sharpe:hey please one time think about it if somebody would have told you when I was working in those fields because I thought a thousand dollars I thought a thousand dollars was boy I said man if the God ever let me make a thousand dollars at one time at one time so I would do a job and somebody would give me a thousand dollars ten one hundred dollar bills twenty $50.00.
57:48Shannon Sharpe:Man.
57:52Shannon Sharpe:And then a little bit of money I was making on you. I was so happy I was getting, you know,$5 ,000 every two weeks. And I said, my brother said, man, how much are you? I said, man, I made$5 ,300. He said, guess how much big bro, man? What do you make him? I say, huh? I say, you been happy?
58:14Shannon Sharpe:He done double up my check?
58:20Shannon Sharpe:I said, man, let me get to work. I'm finna get some of this money. Is that there? Yes!
58:32Shannon Sharpe:I'm gonna get it. I'm going to get it and I'm going to be on time because even when I was in college I wasn't making no money and I wasn't late to practice I didn't miss no practice you locked down I'm going to get this money oh yeah and plus I had responsibilities I couldn't let my grandmother down she done did all she could she done raised her nine kids took my mom three and raised them as her own and loved my mom three more than she did her own nah couldn't do that don't you I don't get these kids and y 'all can't make me get these kids I get it's a different generation these kids lazy they're entitled and they're spoiled and their parents and grandparents have done them a disservice because they get their ass on people's job and you give them people your ass to kiss and ain't nobody kissing no ass in these days and times when I'm paying you a salary I'm not finna kiss your ass that ain't happening Zion Williamson's signature shoe line is being discontinued by Jordan.
59:37Shannon Sharpe:Zion signed a deal before entering the NBA. It was the second largest rookie shoe deal ever. $75 million behind only LeBron James'$90 million. The Zion 4, which was released in 2025, will be the final model in this line. I mean, you know, all that is because of injuries, not being on the court, not being able to play, you know. obviously he was he was supposed to be the next big thing he was supposed to be the next person to take over and be the face of the league uh at some point but the injuries the the multitude of injuries i mean it hampered that still when he is healthy boy he's unbelievable he is unbelievable just the problem it's hard to keep him on the court it's hard to keep him on the court so i i understand their decision to discontinue that that that line and i i don't know i don't know man that hey did you see what he did the wimby the other night or was that last night oh when he dunked i'm just saying in general i think it was tonight i think they played in that one they played didn't they play tonight or they played last night he a young he did whatever he wanted to do
1:00:54Shannon Sharpe:last night. Ocho, it's just that I think a lot of people wanted stuff more for Zion than Zion wanted for himself. I don't think Zion ever wanted to be in New Orleans. I've said this on several occasions. I thought Zion would have preferred to be the number three pick and go to New York as opposed to being the first pick and being in New Orleans. because he wanted to be in a bigger market. He didn't want to be there. He did not want to be in New Orleans. And it ain't where you go is what you do once you arrive. And, you know, he got injured his first year, and he didn't do the necessary things in order to – and I'm not here to try to belittle the man, but I just think Zion could have done some things better, taking better care of himself.
1:01:50Shannon Sharpe:The off the field of stuff, everything else will work itself out. You make jokes about what someone did in their private life and then it becomes public. I don't care about that. And maybe it did or it didn't play a role in him not being able to be on the court. But I'm talking about his physical fitness, his training, his eating, his dietary. And when I would say, oh, you don't know and this and that. Now, those people, now look. Yeah. That guy, he was supposed to be a perennial All-Pro. I mean, an all-NBA selection. He was supposed to be a perennial NBA All-Star. Yeah. Hey, when he's healthy, man, it ain't no denying it.
1:02:43You see what you're saying? Ain't no denying it, boy. He is that boy when he's healthy. When?
1:02:58Shannon Sharpe:All the guys that was picked after him, everybody's played. Look at that. John Moran has been injured, but he's played 80 games more. R.J. Barrett has played
1:03:14Shannon Sharpe:166 games more. DeAndre Hunter has played 122 games more. Darius Garland, who's been nicked, has played 162 games more. Damn.
1:03:36Shannon Sharpe:Instead of, you know, doing what he's eating like he's supposed to. And don't show when you have that kind of access that he has. He can hire a personal chef. you can hire that so many different avenues as far as from a nutrition standpoint regardless of what city you playing in I mean it comes down to the people around you as well I mean basically he's played 6 seasons played 246 games so basically that's 40 games a season they play 82 games a season
1:04:18Shannon Sharpe:He's made about$154 million. He should have been in line to get another contract for another$300 million. And remember, Ochoa, they had to put all these clauses, his weight, his body fat, X, Y, and Z. Keep it down.
1:04:39Shannon Sharpe:That's not how it's supposed to work.
1:04:44Shannon Sharpe:but when they don't trust you, they'll put things in the contract because they know you'll F it up. Yeah.
1:04:54Hopefully he gets somewhere and he can be happy and we can see,
1:05:05Shannon Sharpe:because he's still only what? 26 years of age. That's it.
1:05:21Shannon Sharpe:He's 25, Ocho. Ooh, still a baby, huh? Ocho, a video of Tracy Morgan has gone viral of blowing off a homeless man that apparently used to bully him when they were younger and has been going viral on social media. Let's take a look at this video, Ocho. We're always going to ask about Jackie time.
1:05:52Oh
1:06:13Shannon Sharpe:How you gonna talk about I'm homeless boy? You see? You see? And I've seen some things on social media. Oh guys, people, y 'all get mad at people and you won't speak to them. But y 'all like, well he worth this, he worth that. I told you. Be careful of the toes you step on today. They might be connected to the foot. That leads to the leg that's up to the behind that you gotta kiss tomorrow. so y 'all the street committee stop telling people what y 'all would do when somebody hasn't be did you wrong talk reckless to you and y 'all tell me oh i would have done this no y 'all won't you won't y 'all get to say that because y 'all want everybody to see make it seem like you got empathy i know a lot of you somebody did you wrong when you were younger you not turning a cheat i know that's in the body and i said that one time i said that's in the bible i ain't in go ahead let me know um the dude used to do used to to bully tracy i'm assuming back in the younger days that's what's being back in the younger days but he don't owe you nothing we all got the same 24 hours it's what you do with those 24 hours you got obviously tracy did his thing and obviously his didn't work out being homeless i think his approach could have been a little bit different Yes The way he was talking But obviously whoever it was Is somebody from New York And you know how New York folk talk That's how they talk And he still has Not really animosity But still has that That bully mentality And you can tell by the way he's talking Yes Even though he's not in that Boy I'm homeless Boy I'm homeless I'm homeless boy Man He don't owe you nothing He don't owe you nothing That's why you're approaching asking for help it has to be sincere it has to be yes he still got that that mentality like he's still the goddamn bully because he's looking at it like tracy you got money forget everything that i may have said get it forget everything that i may have done since you're in a position to help can you help me hell no let me ask you a question in the process of asking him for money did you ask for him to forgive you for what you've said or what you've done obviously and forget you see people you you you you people quick to say well well you you so well off and and i am and i'm a very forgiving person but you have to approach me the right way i get the same thing hey man take a picture with me please oh i gotta take this picture okay they ain't gonna believe i said my man I say ma 'am sir is that how you approach somebody that you want someone to do something for you you tell them they gotta do this or you gonna do that I say so if I came up to you and says you gonna do this you gonna do that how would you feel you right I'm sorry okay yeah but this notion that Tracy owes him something because he's a little down on his luck it's just not true if tracy chose to give him something that's different heart that's more power to it but tracy said i remember you you used to bullet that that's what he's saying i don't know if it's true or not i wasn't there i'm just going by what tracy said and what we heard in the video you used to bully me oh i know that was back then boy i'm homeless boy what you want me to do about that boy ain't knowing damn that that that's messed up too that that's messed up you got to i just i you got to be more careful how you treat people especially when you're young because you never know when you got to cross that cross that bridge again you never know when you're across past steps on the toes what are toes on ocho yeah foot what's the foot connected to leg what that leg lead to butt.
1:10:20Shannon Sharpe:The toes you step on today might be on the foot connected to the leg that leads to the butt you got to kiss tomorrow. My girl used to always say that, say, boy, be careful how you treat people. Her famous thing say, the old people always call you boy. She say, boy, be careful how you treat people because you never know who you'll ask to hand you your last drink of water. That stuck with me. That stuck with me. I don't burn I don't burn no bridges on you never you never know who you will ask to do something just because you're in a more favorable position today doesn't mean you'll be in that same position tomorrow I try to treat everybody right Ocho I really do I don't bother nobody try to stay in my own place in my own lane there are a lot of stuff that's going on I don't care to talk about it because that ain't my business but to treat somebody a certain way and because god has blessed them you've fallen on hard times and to feel that person owes you something no my grandma did my grandmother gave my brother sister and i everything but life my grandma didn't want us to do anything for her we'd have to sneak out of the house to buy a refrigerator sneak out of the house to buy a wash and dry liby that's them boys money liby we don't need nothing what you mean we're not me and spanky ain't even in this position if it's not for you
1:12:01Shannon Sharpe:so that is the only person i feel like i owe somebody something So for a person to treat me less than, because maybe you're a little bigger, maybe you're in a little more favorable position, now the roles get reversed. Remember, Ocho, the people that you meet going up, sometimes you'll meet them same people all the way back down. Oh, yeah, absolutely. You ever been on the elevator, Ocho? You going up, let me say, no, I'll wait. And guess what? You come right back down. They're still right there.
1:12:40God got a mysterious wig I just
1:12:46Shannon Sharpe:I don't get it and I read some of the comments Tracy you got that had you not been this that's besides the point I just want to know I would just like to see a lot of people that commented the person that treated them the worst how they feel about them today they wouldn't have gave them that none because sometimes you won't even talk to a brother, a sister, a mom, or dad, or a loved one, but a total stranger that gave you they ass to kiss. Now you're in a favorable position, you're going to be like, okay, yeah, that's what I do. Well, if that's the case, go do that to your mom today that you hadn't spoke to in 15, 20 years.
1:13:22Shannon Sharpe:Go do that to a sibling that you hadn't done in 15, 20 years. Go do that to your child. So while you're talking about that you would do this for a total stranger, go do that for a family member. Go do that for a loved one, someone that's been in your life, and maybe you've had a falling out. Things happen. Family members sometimes fall out, but I'm going to tell you something about O'Shea Sharp. My grandma used to say, boy, teeth and tongue will fall out. Because you know what happened, Ocho? You'll bite your tongue, your teeth bite your tongue, your tongue and teeth get mad at each other. They might not speak.
1:13:56Shannon Sharpe:But O'Shea Sharp, Libby Sharp, and Sterling Sharp, that ain't going to happen. Because for the longest that was all we had was each other.
1:14:08Shannon Sharpe:I don't get it. I don't. I'm a very humble person. I help people when I can. I don't speak about the stuff that I do because that's not what God put on my heart to do, to tell you what I've done for someone in specific. And I always give specific instructions. When Shelly sends money somewhere or does something, Mr. Sharp says do not let anybody find out because if he does it won't happen again I mean a lot of people walk around entitled entitled to something always you put all the work in people you've grown up with sometimes it's people you've associated yourself with sometimes not even real friends they're a friend of a friend and they're comfortable enough to be able to ask you sometimes people approach you the right way when in need and asking for a favor but everybody many people are self-entited and feel that because they associate with you you owe them something and then put in no work let me ask you a question don't you who your best friend that's not a fact your best friend best friend like like literally best friend yeah
1:15:24probably probably T.O. or T.J. one or the other
1:15:33Shannon Sharpe:I look at my friends like this Bucket and Burns they're my two best friends I think everybody knows that I look at the situation like this if the roles were reversed they were in my situation and I was in theirs they would do for me like I do for them definitely T.O. or T.J. yeah ask yourself that question if the roles were reversed they had and you didn't in a heartbeat yeah there's in a heartbeat
1:16:06Shannon Sharpe:there's your answer
1:16:10absolutely
1:16:15Shannon Sharpe:I think a lot of how we are, because we were basically to ourselves. Like I said, we didn't really go to a whole lot of people's home. I didn't ever spend the night. I've never spent the night at someone's home, not a family member, not a friend. That's not how we were raised.
1:16:36Shannon Sharpe:We were raised to be close to each other. I had my sister. I had my brother. and when they you know my sister's eight years older than me so obviously by the time i'm 10 my sister's age the date go out my brother's three years older so he's going to college i'm a sophomore in high school so i spent a lot of time to myself i got comfortable i mean i was my grandma like boy ain't nobody here to play with you ain't nobody here to hang out with you and talk to you. So I learned to spend a lot of time by myself. So when I went to Denver, Ocho, and there's Thanksgiving and there's those holidays, I'm by myself because my grandmother said, son, you got to be able to be able to be by yourself.
1:17:24Shannon Sharpe:I'm cool with that. I got dogs. I get lonely, I buy another dog. You tell her I get lonely. I got three. They keep me working. They keep me busy right now. But I don't get this. And I don't know the man. I don't know Tracy Moore. I know Tracy Moore. I know who he is. I don't know him like that. And I don't know the gentleman that asked. But I think there's a way to approach that situation. I think he went about that whole situation wrong. And I think what looks like to me is that because he had Tracy Morgan, Tracy Morgan is a known name, he tried to put him on the spot. Cameras. He tried to put him on the spot.
1:18:04and trace is like no all right you used to bully me i ain't forget about it i remember and then you talking to me reckless every day i do now you what do you know reckless man are you talking to me crazy what yes you need help when you talking to me like you still the bully
1:18:25Shannon Sharpe:yeah all right how you gonna ask somebody for something ocho and you reckless in your tone yeah alright
1:18:45I don't get it
1:18:47Shannon Sharpe:but hopefully look like I said at the end of the day yeah God knows Tracy's heart he knows what the gentleman did or didn't do how he made him feel because at the end of the day people might forget what you say people might forget what you do but a person will never ever forget the way you made them feel that is the most important thing how does a person make you feel not what he did or she did how does that person make you feel
1:19:32Shannon Sharpe:yeah granny did a lot but it was I felt secure I felt safe I felt loved I felt heard I felt seen
1:19:46Shannon Sharpe:anytime my brother would make me cry go run to tell the granny she'd say stop crying boy she said take all that to make a man
1:19:59you'd always tell granny here you know granny ain't gonna let nobody hurt you
1:20:05Shannon Sharpe:get on back out there and play i go out there and kick them and run up in the house
1:20:16Shannon Sharpe:i kicked them and run in the house
1:20:22Shannon Sharpe:hell nah
1:20:28Shannon Sharpe:oh brother today my brother said man you know what i wouldn't hurt you so bad hey i tell
1:20:38you can't be snitching that what i tell him everybody brother sister aunts but they had to pay me on your
1:20:49Shannon Sharpe:I'll be listening at the door. I'll have my ear to the door. You see her? Oh, you got expelled from school? How long? Oh, y 'all looking like... You gonna skip school to go meet who?
1:21:12Shannon Sharpe:Oh, y 'all, I walk in the room, they sitting on the bed. They sitting in this style, leg folded, sitting on the bed. what y 'all talking about nothing you know I heard what y 'all said yeah you was extorting them it cost you what if I went and told Papa they got kicked out of school or they snuck and met somebody
1:21:42Shannon Sharpe:you made them pay you they had to pay you how much we talking about dollar dollar fifty two dollars that take you a long way back then boy that's in the mid 70s that's in the mid 70s two dollars was a lot of money back then I tell yeah for sure I would I didn't feel bad about it I needed money
1:22:20Shannon Sharpe:I would I would though I would I told them yeah for sure they got kicked out of school they gonna meet somebody they gonna skip school you got to pay me keep my mouth closed oh yeah sir but look here Barney Porter ain't play he ain't play he ain't play the guitar he ain't play the drums he ain't play at all he did not play at all all that joking and that kiki keying
1:23:01Shannon Sharpe:I ain't no snitch now but I was back then I had to man money was tight I needed money I got you I needed ice cream money milk money you know milk was five cents a card no cho back then you know you get the chocolate yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah five cents man you know how many milks i could get for a dollar i have before milk have me four milk sitting up on my tray feeling a feeling good huh yeah ice cream you get a nutty buddy you get a a superstar you get ice cream sandwich oh yeah i I remember Superstar's an ice cream sandwich. Y 'all had the ice cream truck back then or you had the candy lady house?
1:23:44Shannon Sharpe:No, no, we had the lady house. But, you know, they sold the ice cream in the school. Okay, okay, okay, okay. Yeah. Ocho, it's time to play Or Fade, presented by PrizePix.
1:24:09Shannon Sharpe:Jalen Brunson he will have at least 35 points and assists so when you combine his points and his assists he'll have at least 35 yeah more I agree Trey Murphy will have at least 4 assists Trey been balling more Cade Cunningham 9.5 assists so that means he'll have at least 10 assists. And he be balling, bro. Denver Detroit. He been balling. More. He's nice. Isaiah Stewart, at least six rebounds. More. I'm winning this money. $25 to win$150. Download the app today. Use code Shannon to get$50 in lineups after you play your first$5 lineup. Prize picks. It's good to be right.
1:25:09Shannon Sharpe:all right we're gonna get you out here on this it's time for our final segment of the evening it's time for q and a no graphic
1:25:21Shannon Sharpe:damn
1:25:25Shannon Sharpe:kevin oldwood jr uh baby tom might get himself a ring but i think the seahawks are going to win it all Good. Look, I think the thing is, the one thing that the Patriots don't do and they've never really done is beat themselves. Vrabel will have those guys ready to play. They'll do what they're supposed to do. But man, offensively, defensively, this is the best team they would have faced all year. They can get after your quarterback. They can shut the run off. They can run the football. JSN is a monster. He's a monster. And this is a, they're going to have to keep the score down. I don't believe, I could be wrong, but I don't believe the Patriots can win a shootout with this team.
1:26:15Shannon Sharpe:They need to have a game like what they had against the Rams when they first won the Super Bowl, a 17-20, something like that, 20-23. You start getting in the 30s, 31-35. You know, I don't see how I can go up and down the field. They can score at will. They can. C2 Prince just wanted to support my favorite Unc. And Nev, but please, are you guys coming to Philly? We need y 'all out here bad. As we build out the tour schedule, we're definitely going to look to put some of the cities that we were supposed to come to last summer, we're definitely going to look to put some of those back on the schedule.
1:26:56Shannon Sharpe:Six foot eight Aquarius. Cam Ward deserved to be in the Pro Bowl. I doubt a rookie number one overall pick would turn it down. Six foot, bro, I don't know. You're asking me to speculate. All I know is that I believe the other guys, the Joe Burrows, the Lamar Jackson, the Aaron Rodgers, probably the Trevor Lawrence. Nah, I'm good. I'm spending that time with my family, doing other things. Maybe they could have invited. but he was injured. I don't know if he's healed now. Remember, he got hurt in the last game, so maybe that factored in. I don't know. Keatrick Miller. What's up, Uncle Ocho? Love, man.
1:27:36Shannon Sharpe:It's my 45th birthday. Yep, I'm on that shade by Laporte. Who's the best defender in AFC history? Ooh. AFC history. AFC history. Shoot. Ray Lewis. Ed Reed Bruce Smith was in the AFC currently the record holding most sacks in NFL history DT Eric Thomas
1:28:11I'd probably just go with Ray yeah I mean Ed Ray or Troy take your pick
1:28:22Shannon Sharpe:Boy, them boys was hell, boy. Yeah, for me, I would say between – I'd say it's a coin flip between – I would kind of tend to lead towards a pass rusher because I think they can impact the game more than a linebacker. But for me, it would probably be Ray or Bruce Smith.
1:28:44Shannon Sharpe:The GOAT 2022. Ocho, any memories with Kobe that y 'all can share? RIP Kobe and Gigi and others I'm trying to think this event I went to I went to an event got a picture with Kobe and everything I think it might have been to honor Quincy Jones if I'm not mistaken and exchanged information I remember I texted him
1:29:18Shannon Sharpe:like late December. Let me see.
1:29:24Shannon Sharpe:I'll tell you.
1:29:29Shannon Sharpe:Let me see here, old Joe.
1:29:40Yep.
1:29:42Shannon Sharpe:I text him December 26, 2019.
1:29:49Shannon Sharpe:asking for a pair of those the PlayStation Air Force Ones he asked me like what game I showed him a picture of him he's like oh okay lol I said congrats on the new edition a little King Mamba Jr I said a little King Mamba Jr keeps saluting you hope all is well with you and the fam he said thanks fam my princes are tough enough love I gave him the praying hands. He saw that was 20. That was 2019, December, December 28th of 2019. And I think he passed like a month later, less than a month later.
1:30:27Shannon Sharpe:But he was and I had a conversation with him. I was like and I was talking to him that night. I was like, oh, man, you seem so at peace. He said the same focus and the dedication and determination I had to play the game of basketball. I have that in animation and writing. He said that's my focus. He said that's the only thing I'm focused on now. My family, my girls, and this. And I think he won an Oscar. Did he win an Oscar posthumously?
1:30:57That was...
1:31:00Shannon Sharpe:I mean, you know, it's hard to explain. He won it before he passed? Okay. about him in the back about the basketball right the basketball oh so you don't know you like okay you have this perception okay you see the guy on television and i had met him before because as a matter of fact i went back to oh there in atlanta he gave me a pair of shoes uh the hype that he that he had worn when they played the nuggets but i had really you know i was back there with him talking to him and shot um but this was years years years ago this was probably 20 years ago So I did, you know, and I just, man, he dabbed me up.
1:31:40Shannon Sharpe:He said, hey, man, congratulations, man. You do a hell of a job, boy. You know your ish, don't you? I said, yeah, man, I appreciate that, man. Thank you for the support. And I was just talking. I said, man, you seem so at peace. And he's like, yeah, man, I'm at peace. He's like, sure, man, I'm at peace, bro. He said, the same discipline, dedication that I had when I played, I have that night, have that right now. It's just in a different area. I said, oh, man, that's great. That's great. I said, man, hey, congrats on everything. Keep up the great work. Boom, that's it. And then, I mean, and I remember, as a matter of fact, I had just got to Miami because we had the Super Bowl that year, 2020.
1:32:19Shannon Sharpe:That was like a month before the pandemic, Coach O. So I had just got to the San Francisco-Kansas City Super Bowl. I had just landed in Miami, had gotten to the hotel. And it started coming. So, you know, Ocho, you know how to think. I was like, man, I sure wish people would stop playing like this, man. Because you start hearing stuff coming out like, man, that can't be true. That ain't real. That ain't real. And then as more starts to come out, you start like, okay. Like, damn. That's crazy. Is this really real? Is this really true? And then it's like, oh, my God. Oh, my God. It's true. this is yeah that was crazy I mean I've had a Roberto Clemente you know he passed away tragically on a mission he was delivering and he ended up perishing in a plane crash and I was like oh my gosh yeah I mean oh my gosh I've had my stories with Kobe obviously I mean with mine there are pictures to go with him he got me court side seats I never forget my son might have been cj cj now is is 20 22 23 now he was he was a baby he was old enough he had his little headband kobe got his courtside seats to sit to sit there and watch him play i'd never forget so he was able to meet kobe uh once and then i got a chance to eat lunch with kobe at news cafe and this was that season where i was i was disgruntled when i was trying to get out of Cincinnati and that's the same game where I sat course side with Denzel Washington and got my ass cussed out for hacking the fool and had that same conversation with Kobe after I had gotten in trouble with obviously you know I'm trying to say after I got in trouble and he he got he got on my ass about that and about locking in and focusing and trying to rebuild myself and get myself back to where I fell from.
1:34:25And that was a really, really dope conversation I had with him at News Cafe. Outside of that, and then obviously, you know, the pass, and I was at the Pro Bowl right before, it was right before kickoff, huh? Right before kickoff, I was getting ready to film and obviously it came through my phone. That was crazy. Life is so fickle, man.
1:34:47Shannon Sharpe:It is. You never, never know. So, Lazy Lee 34, can you wish my wife, Shea Spears, a happy birthday? Oh, we going to get them shiesty Sheas or them 57 Savage shirts, 58 Savage shirts. Shea, happy birthday. Lazy Lee, appreciate the support. Hopefully, you did something for Shea. You guys went to a nice romantic dinner, got us, you know, I don't know, maybe a bracelet maybe something yeah to let uh let she know that you appreciate it just how much you remember so thank you guys yeah the shiesty shay t we might we have to look into that trio brown uh can you wish me and my son cardier uh a happy birthday i'm blessed to be a birthday twin with my little man hey that's unbelievable bro i'm trying to figure out how i can time that up my damn self while you talking you know what i'm saying no joke there you go that's what i'm talking about now.
1:35:45Shannon Sharpe:Happy birthday. Happy birthday, Trill, to you and Cartier. That's unbelievable. That is unbelievable. You couldn't do it again if you tried to, but you don't have to because you already got a twin that's born on your day. You'll never forget that birthday. You'll never forget his birthday, and it makes it even more special because he happened to be born on that very, very special day. Happy birthday to you, too. H underscore Hunt 23. What's up, Ocho? Do you think Kyle Shanahan will be on the hot seat going into next year. No. To get to the divisional round of the playoffs with all the injuries with Bosa being out, with the linebacker being out, with IU not being there, with McCaffrey being banged up, Purdy missing time.
1:36:35Shannon Sharpe:No, absolutely not.
1:36:39Shannon Sharpe:Jacoria Eaton. What's up, Uncle Nocho? My girlfriend, and Michaela had surgery to have a gallbladder removed. Can you wish her a speedy recovery and give her your blessings? Absolutely. Michaela, speedy recovery. Praise. You know, the thing is about the gallbladder, Ocho, we got it, but we don't need it. I'm like, damn, why you put something in there? I ain't questioning God. He put it there for a reason. But it's glad we can function without it. But hopefully everything, the surgery went well. Wish her a speedy recovery and God bless the both of you guys. But thank you guys. Thank you for supporting nightcap and that's the least we can do.
1:37:13Shannon Sharpe:Michaela, healthy recovery, speedy recovery. Ron Perk, hey, you speaking tonight and this is why I tune in every night. I respect you and Ocho for everything that you do. Thank you for giving us content that you do. God bless you in the chat. Thank you, man. Ron appreciate that. Thank you for the support. That's what we do, Ocho. Our saying is, come for the sports, stay for the story. Mike, Mike, what's up, Uncle Ocho? If we took Ocho idea and did a Legends versus current players with you and Ocho on the same team, who would be the quarterback? Me. Because I can't run, so I'm Brady.
1:37:58Shannon Sharpe:Destroyed. Mr. Shannon, what are your thoughts on a mini pin? A men pin. Cool dog or nah? I got three. They're okay. I'm not a men pin guy. guy. What's that? A miniature pincher. Oh, a miniature pincher. Yeah, okay, okay, okay. Yeah. I'm not a men-pin guy. But they cool. They bark a lot. They're a notaryer. Short for terror. So.
