In short

NFL rule change preventing players who return to college from re-entering the NFL draft in 2026; debate on turf vs grass injury/comfort; Denver’s new “Beast in a Blanket” glizzy menu item; Giants/OBJ roster speculation ahead of final cuts.

Guests/backgrounds

The episode is a conversation between two hosts—Erin Andrews appears only as an ad voice (“Calm Down with Erin and Carissa”). The main sports guests are “Ocho” (Terrell Owens) and “Joe” (Joe Buck). They discuss personal playing experience (Ocho) and general NFL/college football perspectives (Joe).

Key claims

  • If an NFL player is cut and returns to college, they’re treated as a free agent and cannot be redrafted.
  • Big Ten/SEC already restrict NFL-returning players to prevent recruiting/re-entry chaos.
  • Turf causes more burns/pain for some players; grass is “forgiven,” but climate/maintenance costs matter.
  • Owners want the 18th game; players should negotiate medical benefits.

Notable examples

  • Ocho’s CFL experience as a “wake-up call.”
  • Turf injury anecdotes (burns, “bubbling”).
  • Denver’s two-foot hot dog: barbecue biscuit, burnt ends, goat cheese, cheddar, puff pastry, crispy onions, jalapenos, avocado crema, “mile-high secret sauce.”
  • OBJ: John Harbaugh says OBJ has had a “good camp” and more practice catches.

3:07Shannon Sharpe:NFL teams were informed today that players who return to college will not be permitted to return to the NFL during the 2026 season. According to Adam Schefter, a player assigned to an NFL contract who is subsequently cut is a free agent. He may sign with another NFL club or the CFL or return to college, but that player is considered a free agent and will not be subject to future drafts. So in other words, you go back to college, guess what? You can't go back into draft and get drafted again. Period. And if I'm not mistaken, the Big Ten and the SEC rule that players that went to the NFL are not allowed to come back to college.

3:49Shannon Sharpe:So guess what that means, O 'Jones? If you get cut, you better work your ass off to try to get on somebody else's practice squad because, boy, you in purgatory. You ain't in heaven, you ain't in hell, but you just...

4:02Joe Johnson:I like that they put that in place, though. I love it, too. I like that they put it in place because I think it's unfair. If you don't make it in the NFL, you don't need to be going back to college. You need to sharpen your tools. Sharpen your toolbox. Trying to make an NFL team for one if I get cut I'm asking my position coach and my head coach Why did I get cut? What do I need to work on to make another team? How can I be an asset? How can I be valuable if it wasn't to y 'all there's someone else? I'm working on my game That that just that's just me if I was in that situation son

4:38Shannon Sharpe:I could that's why I couldn't be a coach at Joe cuz Joker asked me with coach Why did I get cut? Son, you as sorry as an Alaska day. And you know Alaska day is a 24-hour. That's how sorry you are. Son. See, Ocho all night, Ocho got the man saying, oh, yeah, if you go work on this right here, hey, you go do this right here and you do that right there, son, you got a great chance of making the team. No, damn well, that man ain't got no chance in hell of making the team. Ocho just lied.

5:10Joe Johnson:Listen, nah, I'm going to be honest with you. No, you're not. You're not making a team, right? This is what it come down to, Joe. It come down to you being an asset and valuable. How are you an asset and how do you become valuable, Joe? Because you can do one job better than somebody else. Not only can you do it better than somebody else, you can do it better than the next person consistently. Yes. We let you go because you're inconsistent at what you do. You're a liability. I can't put you on the field because not only do you not know what you're doing, you're really not good at doing it. Yes.

5:44Shannon Sharpe:this is how you cure it. The NFL, the NCAA, they should have been done this, Uncle Ocho. You can't let these dudes come back because they've seen how ugly this thing was about to get too. With all these guys coming back, college coaches were going to start recruiting these NFL guys. That's how bad it was going to get. So I'm glad they put stipulations on it. You can't come back to college and then reenter the draft. So I think it will solve a lot of the problems that's been going on with college football, especially as of late. because come on, man, this thing is going to get real ugly. Yeah. Sure.

6:16Shannon Sharpe:And I think the thing is that sometimes you just got to put your hand around and say, son, you got your degree? Well, it might be time for you to think about something. Because everybody ain't going to make it, bro. Damn. Everybody ain't going to make it. Oh, Joe, even the most well-intended coach. Yes. Sometimes it's going to be like, look, And especially if you can't play special teams, at least play the special teams, Ocho, until you're able to build up an offense or defense and get snaps there. Yeah.

6:52Joe Johnson:Some people love the game, huh? I know, Ocho. Some people love the game. But listen, they can play arena. They can play arena ball. Arena ball if you really love the game. CFL. CFL. CFL. And listen, if you can't make it down here. UFL.

7:08Shannon Sharpe:Hey, hold up though. Them leagues ain't no slouches though, Ocho.

7:13Joe Johnson:No. But Joe, the CFL? Hey, I kid you not. Look at me. You know, I'm going to the CFL, right? I'm going to, I'm, okay, Montreal gave me an opportunity. I'm like, man, I'm finna go out here and do these boys in, Joe. You know? You been to cook, Ocho. I'm finna cook. Joe, I get out there. boy you talk about a wake-up call you talk about a humbling moment in general joe week to week i'm seeing individuals down there in the cfl like bro what are you doing down here like three or four dudes on every team on every on every squad ottawa toronto i'm like saskatchewan why are y 'all here it come down to numbers it come down to politics it's coming down to coming out of college you know you didn't get the opportunity because of you know the red flags and whatnot joe the cfl ain't no joe and i tell people all the time they shy away from it because your money ain't like the nfl no that's the only reason they really don't understand boy i had to tie my shoes up tight joe i had i really had to go really like that like oh my goodness it was it was eye-opening because i didn't know what to expect because i'd never been there i hadn't watched it before so i'm thinking honestly i'm thinking it's gonna be easy of course and a boy man and boy was like they gave

8:32Shannon Sharpe:You play at the highest level, Ocho, and you feel that CFL is a step down. So you feel if you dominated at this, I go down to here. Yo, I'm going to cook these foods. Uh-oh, got a fish. Got a fish over here, Joe. Don't let him off the line. The one thing, if you hook a fish, what you do, Joe, you can't let him loose. Hold him. Hold him. Don't let him off. That's dinner. Cut to fire it out. Hey, he fishing for you. Oh, I got me a fish up here.

9:03Shannon Sharpe:This was a rule. I don't know why the SEC took so long to ban players that go to the NFL and then try to come back because the Big Ten was ahead of the curve. Big Ten said, nah, don't y 'all take y 'all that. Y 'all go to the NFL. We wish y 'all nothing but the best, but you ain't going to bring your ass back here and play no sports. Yes, sir. You're not going to play no sports. Talk about I had another year. Nah, nah, you should have thought about that. You should have stayed jazzed in school. You had another year. You should have stayed jazzed in school. You're not going to go to the league, get canned up there, and then bring your trifling ass back down here?

9:34Shannon Sharpe:No. Hell no. I'm glad they did this, bro. This was much needed. Hey, hey, hey. I don't finish starting hitting NFL guys my damn self to send them back to Arkansas and see if they're going to play for the Razorback. Huh? They get us right. We in the SEC. We in the best conference. Come on, man.

9:54Joe Johnson:Yes. The best. But SEC, yes.

10:05Shannon Sharpe:Okay. Okay. And the thing is, though, but I'm glad, hey, look, you can't get redrafted. You can't bring your ass back down here. So, hey, figure it out. And that's what you should have to do. I mean, being an adult is not easy because life happens. Life starts lifing. And you have – it's just like when you get – let's like – You graduate from college. You don't get to go back. Oh, I ain't getting this job. Let me go back to college. You can go back, but you're going to pay. Hello. Hey, figure it out. That's all the part about being an adult. When I was a kid, I couldn't wait. Man, I used to tell my girl, I can't wait to get grown.

10:53Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, my grandma said, yeah, I can't wait until you get grown either. And then all of a sudden, you realize you got to pay bills. You got a lot of responsibilities. Now all of a sudden, I ain't want to be grown. I tell my kids all the time, okay. Ooh, I can't wait, I can't wait. Okay, I can't wait either. Then they come back asking for something. I thought you couldn't wait to get grown. You're grown. Grown people don't come back and ask other grown people for money. What'd they do that at? When the bill jumped down on your head, hey, well you need a little help, you have to, hey. It's a little different.

11:29Shannon Sharpe:Hey, that's what I tell him, Joe. Oh, you grown, though. You grown. You grown when it comes out. You don't like the rules that I'm implementing. You grown. Now, all of a sudden, hey, daddy.

11:47Shannon Sharpe:Now you looking all profile. You ain't grown. You a kid. You know I'm just a child, dad. Whoa, whoa, damn. You Benjamin Button right there? man jojo like hey i know exactly what you're talking about hey it's a rude it's awakening for a lot of kids bro at that age you know you get 17 18 19 you get in college younger ocho hey man everybody ain't going professional it's only a one percent of cats who're gonna do that so you're gonna have to find something else that you enjoy doing yeah that you can make a living doing or you're going to be stuck doing something that you that your ass hate and you don't want that be a beautiful day bro ain't nothing like worse to be oh my god yeah but but you know some

12:35Joe Johnson:people got to do it though somebody got something yeah yeah listen the hard pill to swallow especially if your your your your dream especially of the child is the one to play at the highest level in the NFL and the harsh truth and the harsh reality that you're not going to make it. You got to have a plan B. You got to have a plan B if you're playing it. You're playing it on work. I see some people, they prolong it. They keep trying. They keep trying. They keep trying. I love the people that have the energy to hold the signs up outside of the stadiums, hoping they can get the opportunity. Just bring me on.

13:09Joe Johnson:And I wish they would allow those people that want to do it so bad, allow them to give them the opportunity to do it so they can see how far away they are from really being able to make a team. So you can actually see how good those dudes really are. It ain't what you think it is. No, y 'all not. I don't think they understand it unless they're in that atmosphere and on that field and get the opportunity to see, yeah, I'm not ready, even though I think I am. You're not. You're not. It's not as easy as it is watching from TV. You're not going to make that play. You're not going to make that catch.

13:44Shannon Sharpe:it's funny how i'd be listening to people oh you should have did this so you should have did that oh you really you think so what do you think so man okay it's hard yeah because i think the thing is that people people see man because people man you don't look that big i mean you like a normal okay i am but i guarantee you you can't get out there get your ass on that field and do what i do even though you just as big as I am, just as muscle up, just like I am, okay. Take your ass out there if you want to.

14:16Joe Johnson:Hey, that's what I be trying to explain to Joe. I be trying to tell Joe, listen, you 6 '7", 6 '8", 6 '9", but listen, it's one thing that I got. What's that? That you ain't got, boy. And what's that? What you got that ain't got? Well, that dog, what? I got that. You heard me bark before?

14:37Shannon Sharpe:No, I ain't heard you, bro. Huh?

14:41Joe Johnson:Hey. All right. Huh?

14:43Shannon Sharpe:Hey, hey, hey, Ocho.

14:44Joe Johnson:I'm telling you, bro. Hey, um. Hey, um. When we do that one-on-one and just shooting, right? We like no dribbling, no taking him on. Ain't do nothing.

14:51Shannon Sharpe:Just letting threes go wherever you want to go. You want a corner three. Okay. You want a side three. You want the top of the key three. Whatever three you want.

14:59Joe Johnson:Okay. Okay. Okay. So we ain't gonna go midi first and then go to the three.

15:03Shannon Sharpe:do however you want to do we can play uh it ain't it don't it don't even matter because as soon as i pull up to the gym i'm in range partner it don't even matter soon as i pull up to the damn gym i'm in range yeah so you're in trouble from the job it's a lose lose for you hey hold on hold on joe

15:21Joe Johnson:hold on joe hold on let me tell you something when it comes to competing it ain't never lose losing me you hear me now when you're talking about shooting that i don't care i don't care Listen, I respect what you did in the NBA, Joe. I respect it. I'm telling you, I respect it. I respect you. I done stole your moves. I done showed you your moves. I got too much in my bag, homie.

15:40Shannon Sharpe:Like, you probably was in chapter two or something. I got 30 chapters in here, boy.

15:46Joe Johnson:Huh? Joe, see, you got chapters. That means your book finished. Joe, I'm still writing.

15:53Shannon Sharpe:When it comes to shooting, when it comes to shooting that pigskin, okay, old Joe, first, I'm going to go handle you in front of in front of everybody in prairie view i'm gonna go and put on the show for you and then somehow some way i'm gonna make my way to up and i'm i'm i'm oh yeah yeah yeah i'm i'm put it i'm put that jump on him and i'm gonna take that little bat that little louis v basketball he got over there i'm gonna make sure that's over here i already got a mount for it and everything so i'm gonna have some uh uh some memorabilia from mess with y 'all i got some stuff playing boy i got yeah yeah yeah okay see i like your plan you had a great thing go you was going i was listening to you you were courteous yeah yeah the courtesy and you was talking about the mean demonstration you got out of no choke and then all that fell flat when you talk about i got something for them i didn't tell not one lie you hear me everything i said it's gonna happen after what you said about oh joke is a lie usually i got something hold on what you mean after what he said what he said about me is a lie too yo you ain't never got beat by a cowboy boy i'ma i'ma whoop you in cowboy boots and some skinny jeans hey chat and rain i just want y 'all to be i want y 'all to really be in tune because what i'm gonna do to this young man hey it's gonna be murder it's gonna be murder partner murder hey you sound like you nervous too josh allen speaks on the difference between playing on grass and turf.

20:30yeah i think grass is grass is healthier for for our bodies um i'm to a point in my career now that when we practice inside on on the artificial i can feel it the next day you know and move out there i feel great and i think any guy that was honest would tell you that's that's how they feel so one I think it's healthier injury prevention I've gotten numerous numerous burns on my legs from artificial turf like to the point where I can't sleep at night because it's bubbling over and it like it's it's very painful so I decided to not have to deal with that at home at least I know we still probably will play games on the road that are our turf but if I can snap my fingers and make every field grass, that's what I would do for sure.

21:23Shannon Sharpe:Oh, Joe, you remember you used to sleep and you getting them burns and you wake up and that sheet stuck to you, Ocho?

21:28Joe Johnson:Stuck to you, yeah. I remember that. I remember that. That's a part of it, man. Listen, that's a part of the game. I mean, what have we become? Now I understand the injuries. People complain about the injuries, oh, the ACL. Yeah, but listen, people are still tearing the ACL and everybody's practicing on grass. Correct me if I'm wrong, right? It's training camp. Everybody's practicing on grass. People are still getting hurt. You know, the constant dialogue about turf. I understand. I understand. And I'm not the one to be able to have this conversation with Uncle Joe because I have no place, being that I never got hurt, whether I played on turf or whether I played on grass.

22:03Joe Johnson:So my opinion really shouldn't matter. Those that have played on turf and have gotten hurt, their opinions matter more than mine.

22:10Shannon Sharpe:Hey, what's under the turf? They got those, they got a field turf, Joe. They got them pellets. Those little, it's like rubber. It's like they cut up tires and stuff and they small little rubber pellets. Okay. Little rubber beads. Okay. Okay. I'm just trying to figure out why does it hurt so bad playing on the turf versus the grass. But that grass, that grass forgiven. It's so nice and cushiony. It's just like Ocho Joe when you was growing up. You like playing on that grass. There's something about that grass. Yeah. Hey. Man, you know Ocho, Ocho listen to play it on C-men. He don't know no better.

22:52Shannon Sharpe:He played football on C-men when he was a kid. He played on the basketball court, catching football, running in the cars and all that stuff.

23:00Joe Johnson:Hey Joe, we played in the middle of the street. We did. No shoes. Throw a tackle, Joe. Now the only time, yeah, throw a tackle. but the only time you stop is when there's a car coming. Everybody say freeze and you can't move to the car pass. So I'm used, I don't know, though. I'm not the right one to ask because I think, you know what, I want to stop because I don't want to say the wrong thing.

23:24Shannon Sharpe:You know what you don't want to say, the players ain't got too soft?

23:28Joe Johnson:How about this? How about this? The cold weather cities, you go ahead and go with grass and let me see what you do in November, December, or going into January. What you going to do then?

23:39Shannon Sharpe:If you ain't got those heating coils, you ain't got no chance, because the ground going to freeze. Damn. And plus the thing you need to look, to make a long story short, and I don't want to make it long, I'm going to make a short story long. I'm not going to do that. The money, because it costs money, Joe, because after about six weeks, the field is going to be torn up and you're going to have to put new brands down. and they hope for the grass grow and you hope it take. Or you're going to be dealing with a situation like Pittsburgh. Because the problem with Pittsburgh is that they play the home game, the Pitt Panthers, the college team, they play in that stadium also.

24:24Shannon Sharpe:They tore that thing. It'd be terrible. I ain't even know you'd be terrible.

24:32Joe Johnson:But that was an advantage for the Steelers back then. Yes. Their field. Their field was beat up. But that was their advantage because offensively it was very tough, you know To run your offense when you play the Steelers and you play the behinds field, right? I mean, they running the ball with the bus coming that man's trying to kick me good luck

24:50Shannon Sharpe:But but the thing is guys look how bad players NFL players. How bad do you want turf goal? Because we know the owners want one thing more than anything else. They want that 18th game This is an opportunity negotiate negotiate we want grass fields hey the franchise tag gone transition tag gone and one more thing while we're at it full time full time medical benefits anybody that played at least five years see that's why they need me as the president oh how about this Okay, how about this? Ten years, you get lifetime benefits. Five years, you get ten-year benefits. How about that, Ocho? Ten years, you get lifetime medical benefits.

25:43Shannon Sharpe:If you played at least five years, you get ten years of medical benefits. Boy, there's going to be some cash trying to hold on, ain't it, man? You think it ain't when it will?

25:57Shannon Sharpe:Hey, there's going to be some cash trying to squeeze five, boys. Five in football, that's hard, Uncle Ocho. Yeah, I consider the average length is three.

26:12Shannon Sharpe:Try to get them benefits, man. Lifetime benefits, bro, I'm telling you. I'm very fortunate. Everybody's not as fortunate. Everybody didn't make the money that I made. Everybody didn't have the after career, NFL career that I had. So I'm able to afford life health insurance and things of that nature. But, boy, can you imagine if you had to pay for hips? Man, the hips was$103 ,000 a piece. What? Yeah, hell yeah. Ooh. Well, hold on. You did both sides? I got bilateral. Absolutely. Damn, you got some$200 ,000 hip, what? $200 ,000 hip. That's why they still operational. You know them bad talk? Mean demonstration.

26:50Shannon Sharpe:That's dope, what? Hey, hey, you say, so when you go to the gym, do you hip thrust? You hit the hip thrust machine? Or you do enough of that at home? Yeah. Hey, I do a little. Yeah, I mean, the cover. The cover's pretty heavy. so you know I get up under the cover the cover's pretty heavy that's a weight right there Joe okay what I do is I go get me one of them old 45 pound plates put it on top of the cover slide up under there I just go the opposite way I go like this right here hey hey that's it is a damn$20 ,000

27:20Joe Johnson:hit just imagine if you know if you have a debilitating disease or something you have

27:28Shannon Sharpe:somebody's disease but you know what it cost what it costs uh uh uh uh to get health insurance especially now they can't kick you off i mean they couldn't i don't know if it's still like that chat y 'all have to tell me if that you had if you had a pre-existing condition before they used to have you had a pre-existing condition they can kick you off or they jack it up. Insurance is already high. Now you got a preexisting condition, man, your premium triple. You pay$2 ,500 a month. That thing might go to$7 ,500 a month. Man, there ain't a whole lot of people that can afford out there can afford$9 ,000, you know,$75 ,000,$90 ,000 a year for health insurance, medical insurance.

28:11Shannon Sharpe:Man, there ain't a whole lot of people out there can afford that. That's what putting people in the poll house. Yes, some have made bad decisions, but But some of this is medical. And so I wish these guys become shrewd negotiators and say, look, y 'all want this. Y 'all want this 18th game. We know y 'all want that more than anything. We want some things too. As a matter of fact, we want some things because we didn't get out exactly what we wanted when you got this 17th game. So we want to backtrack. So we're going to supersede the indictment. 31:49Shannon Sharpe:Denver unveiled a new menu item at Empire Field at Mile High called the Beast in a Blanket. It's a two-foot grill hot dog with barbecue biscuit, burnt ends, goat cheese, sharp cheddar, puff pastry, crispy onions, jalapeno slices, avocado crema, and mile-high secret sauce. Ocho, tear that up right there. Ocho, eat that whole thing, Joe. Hey, listen.

32:13Joe Johnson:Eat that just like that. But listen, I'm taking all the presentation over there. Yeah, yeah.

32:17Shannon Sharpe:I ain't gonna eat it. Is that bread on there? Is that bread on there? No. Yeah, that's a puff pastry. It's a pastry.

32:25Joe Johnson:Yeah, yeah, hey, Joe. What is that, in Denver?

32:28Shannon Sharpe:In Denver, in Powerfield. You go to town on that, Oto?

32:34Joe Johnson:Yeah, absolutely, Joe. And matter of fact, what I do, I break it in half because it look kind of, it look long.

32:41Shannon Sharpe:Hey, hey, it just - It look long as two foot. What you think? It just gonna have your whole stomach hurting, boy.

32:47Joe Johnson:No, it ain't, Joe. You know, I'm used to that, Joe. So you just wanna eat it raw.

32:51Shannon Sharpe:You just go eat the, oh, so you just go eat the hot dog.

32:55Joe Johnson:Yeah, with the bun, yeah. Well, that's what I always do. Joe, you heard what you said.

33:01Shannon Sharpe:He told you he gonna throw all that stuff away. He just walked the whole lot though.

33:05Joe Johnson:Yeah, that's that. What does photo, that's what I grew up on, Joe.

33:09Shannon Sharpe:Bro, that's two foot, my boy.

33:13Joe Johnson:Yeah, what's wrong with that? Nah, I'm good. That's equivalent of maybe three. Three, yeah, that's equivalent of three hot dogs. Hey, I love, you know, I like, I love me some hot dogs.

33:24Shannon Sharpe:Nah, I'm good. You can have them. I don't know, sir. Nah. Nah, I ain't ashamed of eating hot dogs, but that probably had my stomach hurt. I ain't going to lie to you. You know, I had to watch what I eat when I'm out. I'm ashamed. I don't eat no hot dogs. You know what? I've gone almost 30 years without eating hot dogs. I'm good. I'm good. I'm straight. Hey, what y 'all used to do? Oh, you said 30 years. Okay, 30 years. I can see that. Yeah, Joe, you got to realize. Right, right, right, right. I got you. I ate 35. I got that. Yeah, my bad. Nah, that's too much. And then all that stuff, I can't, I can't, I don't like onions.

34:03Shannon Sharpe:I don't like jalapeno slices. I can't, man, boy, you talking about stomach on fire? Yeah. That boy, that boy, that boy got some acid in his stomach or something, I'm talking about, it breaking it down soon. They call him Gator, cause you know a Gator can eat anything. A Gator can eat a car battery. You don't get to eat anything. You don't nothing hurt you.

34:25Joe Johnson:Hey, you know, catfish too.

34:27Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, nah, I'm good.

34:29Joe Johnson:What about catfish?

34:30Shannon Sharpe:Y 'all eat catfish? Yeah, I eat catfish, but I'm saying they're bottom feed. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. They bottom feed. Yeah, yeah.

34:37Joe Johnson:They eat anything. And, hey, Joe, I think that's why I never get sick. I never had food poisoning. You know, thank God. Because I eat everything and because I always eat everything. We know you eat everything.

34:47Shannon Sharpe:You heard it, Joe? You heard it right now. And you grew up drinking out that damn water hole, too. then you man hey joe i don't know i'm drunk under water hole too yeah yeah we all did we couldn't go back once we went outside once brandy sent us outside to play you could bring your ass back into the house until it was time to eat lunch and when you went out there after lunch you couldn't bring your ass back in the house until it was tiny they called it supper we called it they called it supper dinner you couldn't bring it you couldn't be right boys stay in the house you let hey you You're letting the flies in and you're letting the air out.

35:20Shannon Sharpe:Boy, look, they ain't play that. No, we letting the flies well. The thing is, we had that screen, Dojo. You know the screen already hanging off. Flies coming in anyway, Grant, I hate to break it to you. They don't need me to open the door. They already got the feet wet right over the top of that screen. But Ocho, we know Ocho either thing. Ocho, they don't even shake no more for Ocho. You know what, he's built up a tolerance where he's immune to a lot of these things. So a lot of stuff that a normal person probably couldn't eat, Ocho, you got that stomach like one of them, yeah, like I was saying, one of them gators, a stomach like that with all that acidic stuff.

36:00Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You got this, yeah. Joe, the man don't even ask him to shave no more. No. Shave who? That's what I'm saying, Joe. You know what he told him? I used to eat lollipops off the carpet. I said, what? Oh yeah.

36:20Joe Johnson:Hey, hey, hey, Uncle Joe, I know y 'all played the three second rule in high school now.

36:23Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

36:24Joe Johnson:Play three second rule, yeah, yeah. Hey, listen, somebody knocks a food out your hand

36:28Shannon Sharpe:and hit the floor, you get that thing in three seconds. Depending on what it is, Uncle Joe, depending on what it is. It ain't, yeah, it don't matter what it is.

36:36Joe Johnson:Nah, nah, nah, nah. Nah, I'm good, Joe, I'm good. Nah, see? See, my immune system has so much practice. That's why I can eat anything. We already know.

36:46Shannon Sharpe:And you do. And you can and you will. From the rooter to the tooter, huh?

36:52Joe Johnson:All the way back. Hey, from north to south. And if you sideways from east to west.

37:00Shannon Sharpe:But it don't make you no bad brother because that's how you get down. I mean, you know. It just make me don't eat behind you or drink behind you. That's all it make me not do.

37:10Joe Johnson:That's right. Hey, you know, it's cool. It's cool. Y 'all know what y 'all miss.

37:14Shannon Sharpe:Because back in the day, Joe, we grew up, hey, somebody drank a cup of water. You had a little game, bro. Let me get a swig of that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You knock it down. Not now. That's all around now? No, sir. Reef. Ain't no way between here and the pill and the tincture. I'd rather go do six days in the county and drink a cup of water behind that man.

37:35Joe Johnson:I tell you what, that means it's more for me. That's fine. It's more for me. I ain't got to worry about it. I know y 'all ain't drinking behind him.

37:42Shannon Sharpe:He's a chef. Ocho one of them type, when he take his sip, he leave with his tongue. He leave with his tongue. You hear it? Yeah.

37:50Joe Johnson:Hold on, Uncle Joe, what are you supposed to leave? No.

37:53Shannon Sharpe:No, Joe, see, I'm saying Ocho, that's what I'm talking about.

37:56Joe Johnson:What are y 'all doing?

37:58Shannon Sharpe:Backwash. I mean, you don't even know what happened. Is it water or backwash? He can't even tell. Come on, man. Come on, man. He drank, look at it. Look at where he drank a bottle of water. That much of a foam on the top. And then the water up under the bar. And you think I better draft Joe. Yo.

38:16Joe Johnson:Yo. No.

38:19Shannon Sharpe:I could never.

38:21Joe Johnson:You got to leave with your tongue. You hear me? See, look at it, Joe.

38:24Shannon Sharpe:Hey, listen. It don't surprise me. I already know how the boy get down.

38:29Joe Johnson:Hey, listen. Y 'all rookies, man. Y 'all rookies. I'm cool with being a rookie. Y 'all really don't understand the concept. Me too. I'm undrafted. I'm undrafted rookie.

38:37Shannon Sharpe:I got you. They don't want me on the G. I got you. I got you. Nah, I'm good, Ocho. But you know what? I could have them whoop that up for you. What? That hot dog.

38:55Joe Johnson:Well, you know I ain't finna be all the way out there in Denver. That's too far. That ain't too far. Man, that's a five-hour flight.

39:04Shannon Sharpe:anything first of all when you at the bottom anything is a five-hour flight coming from the yeah yo everything everything is five hours don't show with you that part at the bottom

39:17Joe Johnson:yeah i feel you but you know i'm you're a bra i'm not a bra i'm i like football but i ain't really going to no broncos game you know unless the bangles coming out there to whoop on y 'all or

39:28Shannon Sharpe:man you know last time y 'all got that what we did to y 'all what happened i have a question did joe burrow play it would be the same thing no absolutely so you're so another one oh you want that you want that wrong what oh you want a hot dog you don't want anything on it yeah yeah yeah

39:49Joe Johnson:yeah without all that look at all that stuff that's that's about presentation and just that's unnecessary I don't need all that

39:59Shannon Sharpe:how much it cost I bet that thing high probably$20 that thing more than$20 oh no that fool be high that damn thing probably$40 nah hell nah I'm telling you I'm telling you I say$25

40:25Joe Johnson:tops two foot long and nah yeah probably about 25. you know a hot dog by 11. you see how they dress that thing up man they for boy they finna text you for that i'm looking to see 37.95

40:47oh okay 50 ball for a hot dog

40:57Shannon Sharpe:I told you. Oh, no, man. Hey, y 'all got to understand, baseball cooking was real greasy. Damn, those folks ain't playing. But, hey. That's fine. Hey, you know what? That's what we ought to do. I tell you what. We ought to do what we ought to do. We ought to go to the stadium. We ought to go to the stadium. For the next night, cap outside, we go to the stadium and try different foods. Ocho, you got all the hot dogs.

41:23Joe Johnson:Okay. I like that.

41:25Shannon Sharpe:Joe and I, we'll try something else. Whatever the specialty is there, Ocho got the hot dog. So if y 'all got a hot dog, Ocho got that. But what you call them? The Dodger got the Dodger dog, which is a two-foot dog. The hot dog be sticking out the end of the bun, Joe.

41:43Joe Johnson:Yeah. Yeah, I like that. I like that.

41:48Shannon Sharpe:He's saying, he's like, hey, Lindsey, you know what? Hey, the one thing I like about you, man, you embrace it. You ain't even tripping. You know what I mean? He like, bro, I'm going to eat me a glizzy. And that's just what it is. Yeah.

42:05Joe Johnson:It's when you try to hide it.

42:08Shannon Sharpe:It's when you try to hide it. Like if Uncle's back there eating a glizzy when he always talking about him messing with glizzy, then we'll get on. No, no, no. But the fact that Ocho, Ocho a well-known glizzy eater. I mean, Lizzie Gobbler. You know they got the green gobbler and the Spider-Man. He the next villain in Spider-Man to give the glizzy gobbler. They got a suit already picked out. It's hot dog red.

42:38Joe Johnson:It ain't looking like a good hot dog, man. Everybody's scared of living their truths, man. I ain't got no problem, man. I wear it on my shoulders. That's what's up. I'm happy for you. I wear pride.

42:48Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, yeah. Yeah. But guess what? When we go to these county fairs and they got this penis, this old bull, this old bull and onions, and Ojo got to take that knife and cut it, Ojo. Yeah. I'm telling y 'all right now, man, I'm probably going to call Earl that day. I'll just keep it real.

43:07Joe Johnson:That's how we call him. Call him. That's fine. Call him. Hey, this is going to be better for camera.

43:13Shannon Sharpe:See, my enzymes in my stomach ain't like Ojo. Ojo can eat anything. You know what I mean? His stomach gon' digest it. Hell, my stomach ain't gon' digest some of that stuff. I'm just gon' keep it real.

43:25Joe Johnson:That's okay, Joe. That's okay. Hey, Joe, because your stomach can't digest it, that don't make you no bad stuff.

43:32Shannon Sharpe:Hey, you take some Peptoe, some Imodium, something like that, Joe. You'll be okay. And I'll act like he just gon' be okay with all that. Man, you ain't gon' be able to eat that stuff neither. You talkin' about something you used to eat back 30 years ago. Hell, your stomach don't work like that no more neither. Guess what, Joe? You got the vaccine for the measles. You ain't never had them. You got the vaccine for the chicken pox and smallpox. I done built a phytophanist to it. My body already knows how to handle it. Okay. The first thing, you're like, oh, my goodness. Yeah. I'm going to say, oh, my goodness.

44:03Shannon Sharpe:If y 'all look like y 'all enjoying it too damn much, I'm like, oh, my God, this man is really enjoying it. This man is really going to town. This man going for seconds. Oh, my God, he's going for seconds. Yeah. No, no, no, he's going for seconds. that what what time is it a couple of bites a double ain't gonna be no second helping

44:26Shannon Sharpe:so rogue lizzie ain't nothing like it we already know ocho try anything though yeah you need a friend like ocho man i think what you need everybody everybody needs a friend like Like Ocho. If you ain't got you one, get you an Ocho for a free. He'll take one for the team. Hey, you got one life to live. Two. Take one who? Okay.

44:55Joe Johnson:It depends on the situation.

44:57Shannon Sharpe:All right. Back in the day when he was like 17, 18, it didn't matter. Ocho, man. Man, uh-oh, uh-oh, what you look like. Hey, huh? You ain't got nothing no better than that? Nah. Nah, that wasn't that 78.

45:19Joe Johnson:Hey, hey, Joe.

45:21Shannon Sharpe:Joe. I want that voice. That's the best. That's a friend, man, but she cool, man. Cooler than a fan, you know, Joe? Yeah, yeah, yeah. All right, just this one time. And then, guess what? All right, this the last time. I done did this about ten times for you.

45:42Joe Johnson:Hey, Joe, you got to make them feel special, Joe. Yeah. Hey, Joe, she be about to four. I got to have a - Hey, hey, hey, get what? Yeah.

45:49Shannon Sharpe:If you don't get a friend occupied, she going to be hating on you all night. She going to be hating on you all night. You got to get her squared away. So, yeah, you're right. You need that guy on your squad. You can be like, hey, bro, I need you tonight, bro. I need you. Yeah. Yeah. You need that one homeboy to tell her, you ugly, I'm ugly. let's go have some ugly sex. That's all you need. You need that one homeboy that's like that. I know I'm ugly. I'm ugly as a mother. Come on now. You know damn well you're ugly too. I don't know who you are. Come on now. When y 'all all in the car together, how many times do guys come talk to you?

46:29Shannon Sharpe:That's all you need to know. When y 'all in the car together, when it's four or five y 'all together, how many in these four guys, two guys trying to talk to the best looking one, That's for sure. The other two, okay. You last one out. So come on now, stop playing.

46:45Joe Johnson:But you know 17, 18, boy. Yeah, you weren't playing back then, were you?

46:49Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

46:50Joe Johnson:What? Joe, I ain't, what?

46:51Shannon Sharpe:I already know it, old Joe.

46:53Joe Johnson:No, see, most of the time they see me now. They see the finished product, you know? Right now, you know, I ain't no slouch. But Joe, 17, 18?

47:05Shannon Sharpe:Man, stop. Yeah, look, I ain't never been no model. But I tell you what, I was always an athlete. And the athlete, two things, athletes and musicians could always get women. If they can't do nothing else. Because why? Who got the bad looking women? Rockers. Lenny Kravitz still got them. Mick Jagger. All the old rockers still got them. That way, when I take it, that thing hit that bloodstream.

51:33Joe Johnson:Ooh. Yes. Yeah, I can see you. Hey Joe, you can see me? See right now? See this is the moment. You got to have awareness though. When you can't see? Yes. Yes. I'm telling you. Let it blind for you Joe. Let it blind for you Joe.

51:52Shannon Sharpe:I'm telling you Joe. Joe you ever been on one of the crooked bridges? Yeah. Drop one of the roast sparks in the water. Hey listen. I don't love those. Talk to them. But why would I wear the blindfold? I don't get it. Joe. Cause they'd be, sometimes Joe, when you wear the blindfold, they be touching you with a feather. They be, you know what I'm saying? They be kissing you on certain spots. You don't know where the next spot they're about to kiss.

52:20Joe Johnson:Yes. Hey, hey. Hey, hey. Hey, Joe, tell her get some candle wax. Joe, tell her get some candle wax and pour it in your navel. Like in your navel. what they do hey hey joe again i ain't really that spontaneous like that but you know i'll try

53:17Shannon Sharpe:now i i hey hey i draw the line sometimes you gotta draw the line hey like our two shorts say Hey, blow the whistle. Blow the whistle. I'll go on the plate.

53:29Joe Johnson:That's what the ice for is different. No? Mm-mm. Yeah, but ain't y 'all. Unless you got some oxtail gravy I can put over them toes.

53:38Shannon Sharpe:I ain't sucking nothing.

53:41Joe Johnson:The ice, the ice, it gives you a different type of enhancement. Damn.

53:46Shannon Sharpe:Hey, I got the roast barks for enhancement for me.

53:50Joe Johnson:I got you, man. I'm just trying to help.

53:53Shannon Sharpe:But Joe, I got that on the way.

53:57Joe Johnson:Okay, bet, bet, bet.

54:01Shannon Sharpe:With Sunday's final cut approaching to finalize the NFL's 53-man roster, speculation mounts over OBJ's spot on the Giants. Here's what John Harbaugh had to say about OBJ's camp performance. What have you seen from Odell lately? It seems like he's been making more catches and plays in practice. Yeah, I think Odell's had a good camp. But I would say his best week of camp has come this week. He's looked good and made numerous plays, and just like you saw even today, made numerous plays, so he's doing well.

54:40Shannon Sharpe:OBJ has four receptions, 23 yards, zero touchdowns over two games in the preseason. and with season-ending injuries to Calvin Austin III, the Giants are left with Malik Nabors, Malachi Fields, Darnell Mooney, Darius Slayton, and Braxton Barrios. Ocho? Yes, sir. Just saying, a guy that started his career with the career that OBJ had is now fighting for the fifth and final spot.

55:07Joe Johnson:Hey, oh, man, it sucks. It sucks as we age. It sucks for someone like Odell, who was one of the greats at one point, especially the way he started his career. And I think even if Odell is not the same Odell of old, an Odell that gets the opportunities to make plays can still be valuable. He can still be an asset to that team. I'm not sure how healthy Malik Nabors is going to be, but if he can't go week one, I mean, you still have to have someone you can rely on, someone you can rely on or someone that you can go to that is proven. Odell is proven. I mean, when you look at the rest of the supporting cast, how many of those players are proven?

55:49Joe Johnson:I think if Odell gets the opportunities to make plays, he can still make those plays, even though he's not the same Odell in the past. He still can make those plays. So, I mean, that sucks. The fact that he even has to be vying and lobbying for the fifth receiver spot.

56:09Shannon Sharpe:Amen. he still get an opportunity, Anken Ocho. You know, he still gets a chance to go out there and compete for a position, for a spot, to get back to being a New York Giant. I think it's just as we age, you know, the game that we love and that we've played since we were young, bro, since we first started, that desire and that passion to still be out there on the field, it never wavers, bro. It don't matter if you're healthy, if you've been through injuries, especially when you love competing. Yeah. Odell seems like a guy who really loves to compete. Obviously, it looks like he's got his body in some great shape to where he's had a pretty good camp.

56:46Shannon Sharpe:I mean, hell, he probably ain't had a whole lot of targets in these first two games. But, you know, just to be out there catching the ball again, just to be effective, you know what I mean, on the field, I'm sure, you know, he's been elated by that. And I'm sure he would love to make this team. And I think he still has an opportunity.

57:04Shannon Sharpe:Yes. that's one thing man that's why you got to enjoy it and make the most of the opportunity when you're here because eventually we're going to age we're going to age we're going to age out of sports yes it happens to us all no matter how bad we love it um no matter how much we put into it no matter how much it gave it's going to take it's going to give you back but eventually you're going to have to move on that's just the way that's just the way it's about just the way the cookie crumbles.
