In short

The hosts and guests debate NFL strategy and legacy, then shift to player drama and media narratives. They compare Shanahan-tree offenses vs West Coast/pro-style systems, argue what makes teams win Super Bowls, and discuss Hall of Fame candidacies (Antonio Brown, plus comparisons to T.O.). They also address Jerry Jeudy’s sideline/locker-room media controversy with the Browns and talk through how players should handle media and conflict.

Guests (backgrounds)

The episode features Ocho Cinco (Chad Johnson) and Shannon (who reminisces about “Cookie,” a former girlfriend). NFL figures referenced in discussion include Antonio Brown, Terrell Suggs (via a clip), and Jerry Jeudy (as the subject). Ocho Cinco speaks from his own NFL experience (played for the Bengals, etc.) and discusses playing/covering receivers and special teams.

Key claims

West Coast/pro-style offenses are more likely to translate to Super Bowl wins because end-game success favors drop-back passing and quarterback-driven execution. Antonio Brown is a “bona fide” Hall of Famer, but first-ballot timing may be affected by off-field issues and the Hall’s voting process; T.O.’s bylaws change is cited. Jeudy’s animated sideline exchange is framed as magnified by media, not necessarily reflective of locker-room reality.

Notable examples

Terrell Suggs’ comments on AB first-ballot; comparisons to T.D. (as the missing West Coast element) and to running backs like Clinton Portis and Mike Anderson; Barcelona “death of a thousand passes” analogy; specific receiver yardage memories (e.g., Megatron/Julio-type 300-yard games); Ocho’s own “media shots” approach and a story about snapping a chin strap during a Monday Night Football frustration.

2:30Shannon Sharpe:Jason Kelsey made some interesting comments about the difference between Shanahan offense and the West Coast offenses. Let's take a listen to what Kelsey had to say. I do think there's a reason while there has been a lot of great offensive coaches that have come from the Shanahan tree and the McVeigh trees, not a lot of those has transitioned to the Super Bowls. and I think that if you look at largely the teams that have won Super Bowls over the last decade, most of them have been West Coast offenses that are pretty much grounded on a lot of the Bill Walsh and Andy Reid lineages or pro-style offenses and I think part of that is the scheme can be great but it's going to be really hard to win a Super Bowl with the coach out scheming.

3:11Shannon Sharpe:At the end of the day, most of the Super Bowls are won with quarterbacks and players on the field teams that operate on a drop back pass more tend to win Super Bowls more because drop back pass is more important in close games and that end of game situations and that's why I think the West Coast offense while it's not as you know as as ridiculously interesting as some of the Shanahan principles and things I think it probably translates when you have great players into more success at the end of the day hey I like I like that a little bit I like what he's saying obviously Shanahan system and the West Coast system, I think it all comes down to obviously having a combination of both.

3:49Having a combination of great players with a great quarterback. Because if you have a great quarterback, regardless of the offense that you are running, whether it's Shanahan-like or if it's West Coast system, being able to manipulate that offense and knowing exactly what you're doing and having the right supporting cast, hell, anything is possible. Anything is possible. It all comes down to the person at the helm who has the ball in his hands the most in his decision making that's what it comes down to at the end of the day scheme is great you know tactics is great the system you're running is great whether it be a shanahan style offense or whether it be the west coast system offense hell we've seen the west coast system offense be successful think about how many teams that have a west coast system that have won the super bowl um the thing look in mike's system

4:43Shannon Sharpe:the west coast system they really used the short passing game as their run game the true west coast system the way bill was ran it they never had a terrell davis they never had a guy that could hit his head that could run the ball like that and if you go back and study you look at green bay green bay they had dorsey levins hey dorsey look at the west coast the very few teams have had a guy that could run the ball like we had with TD. And even though you go back and you look at the Broncos, even after TD, they had Mike Anderson, and they had Ruben Drones, and we had Clinton Portis, and they had a number of guys that weren't TD.

5:23Shannon Sharpe:And so if you look at now McCaffrey, you see what they're able to scheme and how they're able to run the ball with McCaffrey. And still, they still throw a lot. We didn't throw the ball that much to the running backs. That was my job, Ed's job, and Rod's, a foot's job, to do the leg work as far as the passing game. Yeah, we threw a couple screens, but we weren't a great screen team like the 49ers are with Kyle, like they are with McVay. We were not a good screen team. We were a toss-it, hand-it, weak-side zone team. Stop it if you can. And then we're going to play action off of that. We're going to run boot.

6:05Shannon Sharpe:We're going to run fullback slide, drag slide. We're going to run overs. And we dare you to stop. You know what I do like, too, about the West Coast system, Monk? And for those that are in the chat, to give you a different perspective, especially when it comes to soccer, I want you to think about the Barcelona teams, you know, the early days of Messi, when obviously they kill you with 100 passes, you know, ticky-togger, ticky-togger, ticky-togger, ticky. That's what I think about the West Coast system, Monk. You know, being able to have 14, 15, 17, 18 play goddamn drives, and it's damn demoralizing for a defense because there's no way to stop you because you're always able to find the mismatch based on whoever it is at the helm controlling the ball and having the ball in their hands the most.

6:45When it's done the right way, when it's done the right way, it's the most beautiful thing in the world. The most beautiful thing in the world to watch.

6:55Shannon Sharpe:But if you look at it, you look at Andy Reid was in that system. Andy Reid, you look at it because he came from Mike Holmgren, John Gruden, all those guys, Mariucci, all those guys within the Holmgren who came up on that system. Mike went directly to San Francisco and got that from Bill Walsh himself. And so you see all the guys that came from Shanahan, Kyle Shanahan, McVay, all those guys, LaFleur, O 'Connell, all those guys. And so you see a variation of it. They do a lot of it, got their own, put their own spin on the no-cho, but that's what it is. But none of them has really had a guy that can run the football like a TD.

7:41Shannon Sharpe:And so that's the only thing that's missing from the West Coast that I was in compared to what we see now. They throw a lot more. They throw a wave of the game has changed now. The game has changed now. So they're going to throw the ball more than when we ran it. We ran more than we threw it. Matter of fact, what is Mr. Campbell and the Detroit Lions? Is that not West Coast a little bit? I don't know. He's under Parcells. So he got most of his tutelage under Parcells. Okay. Because they kill you with those damn crossing routes over and over. Yeah, they run a lot of shallows. They run a lot of in cuts.

8:17Shannon Sharpe:They do a lot of three by ones, a lot of bunches. They do a lot of motion. But hey, think about the 49ers, huh? Think about the 49ers, especially that year they went to the Super Bowl when they faced the Chiefs. That is beautiful football in every sense of the word because they can start at their five-yard line and dink and dunk and dink and dunk and dink and dunk and screen play the goddamn McCaffrey, chunk play the McCaffrey, you know, running off tackle, running through the A-gap, and it's just a continuous. And when it's done the right way, when you have a quarterback that's making all the right decisions.

8:56And as great as Shanahan is, is finding the mismatches and making sure you play to your player's strengths. Putting them in position to make those plays. It's a beautiful thing. I know you don't know anything about soccer, but I could just show you a clip. I could just show you a clip of Barcelona playing. And it's like the death of a thousand passes. And they're just going back to back and they're almost lulling the defense to sleep. Lulling the defense to sleep. until the right time. And it's just, before you know it, the goddamn goal in the back of the net, you don't know what the hell happened.

9:33Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Tell me too much. Clint Portis. Clint Portis was unbelievable. He had way more talent. He had way more talent than TD. But he didn't take it as serious as TD. Clint Portis should be in the Hall of Fame. That boy was, hey. Clint Portis had 3 ,100 yards and 31 touchdowns in two seasons. Shit. Two seasons. Portis was nice, boy. Yes. Hey, y 'all used to run that stretch, that stretch with Portis. Yes. I think Peyton used to run that a lot, too. I mean, we looked at quarterback almost falling to get that stretch out there. Yes. Oh, my goodness. Yes. And, hey, Portis are holding, holding, holding.

10:19Shannon Sharpe:Did we play pass off of it and throw the ball over your head? Portis a whole last stretch long and cut back across that green? Boy. Good night, Irene. And once Portis hit that second level, Ong. Oh, you're getting good luck getting him down. Good luck. But if Portis would have taken it serious, Ocho, do you know how many times on a Saturday night I sit up in my room at the bed check I see who's leaving if I see who's leaving who do you think he'll see him leaving? Coach? That's why he traded him Who's going to trade a running back? Think about it He's offensive rookie of the year He goes to the Pro Bowl The guy that he beats out for a Pro Bowl spot is LaDainian Thomason LaDainian Thomason had 1 ,600 rush yards and 100 catches in a season, and Portis beat him out for the Pro Bowl.

11:25Dang. Mike traded him because of that.

11:32Shannon Sharpe:I have a question. He wouldn't want to work out. Wait, he was lazy? Hold on. Coming from a program like the University of Miami, where everything is predicated. I don't know where he came from. I'm telling you what he was when he got to them. I'll tell you what, we would even do it. The way them boys were coming out to you? I just thought that that transition would have stuck, especially going into the league. Man, Portis came to the game one time, hung over, told me, man, I can't play today. But get your ass out there and run that lick out and get your ass and do a contrast. That ain't got nothing to do with Mike.

12:09Shannon Sharpe:Mike ain't no Porto looking out of your throat. I bet he had one hell of a game, too. A monster. a monster came. Man, Poe, I say, Poe, man, why you won't do right? He'll tell you. He'll tell you himself. I mean, I got... I mean, I thought it was just going to be a matter of time. I didn't think he was going to trade him because I did all I could, you know, being a veteran presence there, trying to do all I could. Come on, Poe, man. Damn, just do right. Hey, matter of fact, wait, who was the replacement? Poe come to practice and wouldn't even have his shoes tied and they couldn't tackle him. Hey, matter of fact, you know what?

12:49If Coach made that decision to let Portis go, that means there had to be somebody behind him that they trusted or that maybe not as good, but we can do just by.

13:03Who's that? I think it was maybe Ruben Drones.

13:09Shannon Sharpe:I think it was Ruben. I remember Ruben. I remember. Yeah. He ended up rushing for 1 ,200. Hey, what's the running back? Did you play with the running back? You didn't play with – Travis Henry played in Denver too, didn't he? No, I was long ago. Yeah, Trav was gone. I was gone when Trav got there. I don't know why I'm thinking about running backs. I wonder how Travis Henry doing. You know, he did some time, Ocho. No, that's why the running back played for the Bills. Travis Henry? He did some time, Ocho. I didn't know that. Yeah. Damn.

13:47Shannon Sharpe:Speaking of Hall of Fame, Terrell Suggs went on Johnny's Glory Days podcast and talked about Antonio Brown's upcoming Pro Football Hall of Fame candidacy. Suggs said, is he a first ballot? I wouldn't think so. The off the field stuff, they're going to shy away from that probably until it gets resolved. They let another murderer in the 90s. Hold on. They let another murderer in the 90s. I bet you if they could, they would have waited. Like, we might not want to put this guy in this fraternity just yet. A-Un? I don't think, I don't think, because you got to think about it. T.O. had, look, should A.B.

14:26Shannon Sharpe:be a, first of all, let me say this, should he be a first ballot based on what he did on T.O.? Ray Charles, you see that. Yes. Yes. But with T.O., they changed the bylaws. they said what you did off the field and what you did in the locker room or on the sidelines could be weighed against you so so you see how they did that on you see how they were able to move the goalposts you see how they were able to move the goalposts and and having the power to control having the power to be able to control when and who not let in when the criteria the criteria for making the pro football hall of fame is conducted and based off what you do in between the goddamn lines so now now you now we're making it personal they change yeah they change it they change it for for in their favor so if you don't conduct yourselves in the manner in which we see fit away from the game of football now we can chastise you for it we can chastise you for it i mean listen ab is a bona fide hall of famer no matter what i understand what he's done off the field i even understand some of the stuff he's done on the field but when he when it was time to go when you talk about the story and you talk about some of the greatest nfl receivers that ever played this month i almost cursed greatest receivers to ever play this game you can't tell the story without mentioning antonio goddamn brown you're right um i think he's talking about oj but oj was already in that's the one thing about that fraternity once you're in you can't they can't take you out you're there for perpetuity so so i think he's talking about oj but oj was already in, so there's nothing you can do.

16:06Shannon Sharpe:Now, maybe at USC, they removed some of his paraphernalia, or they took him down. I don't know. But in the NFL, once you go into that building, you're in that building. I just think the thing is, Ocho, I just think he's going to have to wait. They made T.O. wait three rounds. If T.O. is not a first-ballot Hall of Famer, the man had the third most catches. I think at the time of retirement, he had the second most receiving yards. Over 1 ,000 yards. there's only been three men that's been a first team All-Pro with three different teams. Deion Sanders, Ted Hendricks, and one T.O. So three men in the history of the game has been a first team All-Pro with three different teams.

16:48Shannon Sharpe:T.O. led San Francisco in yards. He led Buffalo in yards. He led Philly in yards. He led Dallas in yards. He led Cincinnati. Five teams. Five. Yeah. You know what? You know what I don't like? I don't like the fact that they hold they hold so much power. They control everything. Yeah. They able to control everything. And you have players, you have players that played extremely well at a very high level, consistent for a very long time. And you have people that are able to control, you know, and if it affects a lot of players that want to be a part of that fraternity so bad you want to be. So you have to you have to pander to it.

17:32you know you and you it's out of your control so if you you can't even almost you can't even be yourself you have to be something different you have to conform to what they want you to be like why you're playing the game in order to be a part of this over here because of what it means one of

17:49Shannon Sharpe:the greatest if not the greatest achievement as an nfl player but boy and the thing is i mean i I don't know if he's talking about OJ, but OJ was acquitted. Now, you might think he did it or he know who did it or he has something to do, but he went before 12 men and women, and they said not guilty. After that, we can come up with conjecture and speculation and innuendo all we want. But at the end of the day, he went before a jury of his peers, and they heard all the evidence, and they said not guilty. But, like I said, is A.B. a Hall of Famer? Yes. Do I think he's going to have a hard time getting in based on his history of his off-the-field activity and the way he conducted himself in Pittsburgh?

18:37Shannon Sharpe:Because you've got to realize, Ocho, when you go before the board, somebody, Ed Bouchette, would probably have to be his presenter. So he would have to get up there and say, okay, Antonio Brown had this many catches, had this, this, this, and this. But also, so you see how that goes? Now, some guys like, hey, Tom Brady guy going to say, Peyton Manning, the guy just ain't say a word, Peyton Manning, sit back down. Tom Brady going to be the same thing, sit back down. Some guys, you know, offered Jerry Rice, sit back down. You know, some things like that. But I think he's going to have a hard time getting in base because, like you said, it's 50 men and women, and every man and woman knows a B story.

19:26Yeah.

19:28Shannon Sharpe:It is what it is. Jerry Judy didn't exactly calm things down over the week when asked by the media about the Shadour sideline exchange. In fact, Cleveland is up in arms over him saying it's the media's fault. He's picking fights with reporters and his own Browns teammates. Let's take a listen, Ocho, to what he had to say. You know, of course I'm going to speak to my mind and tell me what, and say what I need, what I see out there. But, you know, it is what it is, footballing, man. Me and Shardou are good. You know, stuff like that happens. Y 'all going to make it bigger than what it is, you know, because it's the media. You know, that's what y 'all feed off of negativity.

23:12Shannon Sharpe:You know, but it is what it is. This is the life you live. So, you know, we move on from it. And I live a real life, you know. So what happened around in this locker room, you know, just real. Not what's going on on social media and everything. So me and Shaddao are good. Everything good, man. We great over here. Everything is magnified. Everything is magnified, especially when you're losing. Obviously, all the turmoil, all the questions, all the – No, it ain't. Because everything was magnified. Was it magnified because – what about the Eagles? Oh, it's magnified. and their situation magnified because even though they were winning during that time he had issues you had you know certain people individuals coming out you know having their displeasures you know posting stuff on social media so it created it created a firestorm so it gave media something to talk about over there over there excuse me over there in cleveland obviously the interaction between judy the animated interaction between judy and goddamn I'm saying is on the sideline is something not new, not new, but it's new to them.

24:19It's new to them. Two players that are not on the same page and their way of communicating, it wasn't the right way to communicate. It wasn't the right way. Now, if they were winning, if they were winning and they were playing well all season long, oh, it wouldn't be no problems. Some of that they just sweep right up under the rug. But listen, Shadour, second start, two of them, they going at on the sideline, oh we got a motherfucking story now yeah talk to me baby

Read the full transcript

24:47Shannon Sharpe:why he got to be the media the media job is to report what it sees you got these demonstrative antics what do you think they think and I told you it could have been nothing Ocho but when you get animated like this and all Shadour was sitting down and then all of a sudden Shadour stands up and says what do you think Absolutely. Hey, can I tell you something? Just say, look, guys, yeah, we could have had, I could have handled that situation better. I'm the vet in this situation. I should have handled that situation a lot better than what I did. I saw something one way, he saw it another way. Whatever differences we had, that could have been resolved behind closed doors.

25:29Shannon Sharpe:I was always conscious of that, Ocho, because I know, you know I'm demonstrative, because I already know. So now you start yelling, I start yelling, you say something, And the one thing, I don't ever want to go across a bridge that I can't go back across. You say something in the heat of the moment, you know, drunk kids and angry people will tell you how they truly feel about you. So you have to be careful when you're angry about what you say. So I was always conscious of that. If I had something to say to the quarterback, be it John, be it Grease, be it Tony Banks, Trent, Jake Plummer, I always like, man, bro, this is what I was thinking.

26:13Shannon Sharpe:and so forth and so on. But by the same token, I expected them to, you know, to give me that kind of grace also. Because I promise you, you show me up, you're not going to like my response now. Because if you bring it to me, I got to give it back to you plus shipping and handling. Because I got to make sure you get it. Because I don't want anybody to say, well, I didn't get what you was, yeah, you got this here. So that's why I was always conscious, knowing the camera was around, even not as many campuses they have now, Ocho. But I understood. People in the stands, you getting animated. They getting animated.

26:48Shannon Sharpe:Ain't nothing going to come about that. I told you, I told you, it happened to me one time. Yeah, just like that. But mine was in the field of play. We Monday night football. We playing the Steelers. I'm already frustrated because they're not able to get me the ball. Everything they doing. Ike right in front of me, safety over top. So you already know I'm frustrated. So the ball, when I do get the balls, I mean, the balls that do come to me, it's going to be very few. And the one, boy, I'm open. I beat the double team. The ball is not supposed to come to me. I told Carson on this, just give me a shot.

27:22I'm going to work these boys. And Unk, he overthrew, he overshot it a little bit. And long behold, you know, the camera already on me, man. You know, I already keep one chin strap already unbuckled. Man, I snapped the other one. I'm mad going back to the huddle. Carson met me Carson met me halfway Before you got off the field Before I get off the field If you ever Motherfucking show me up like that again I won't throw you another motherfucking ball the rest of the game Just like that Not playing no games But I ain't say nothing the rest of the game I ain't say nothing the rest of the game Because I understood who had the control And being able to get that ball to me Yeah, but one time It took me one time never had an issue again

28:13Shannon Sharpe:because I know how I am Mojo look I understand his job isn't easy it's not but I'm like man I wanted to say some stuff but nah I'm not going to show him up because you know what happens you show the guy up he throw it to you you drop it The ball go through your hands, then it get picked. Now everybody looking at you sideways. You say you wanted it. He threw it to you, you threw it back at him. Or you gave it to the other guy. I was always mindful of that, don't you? I really am. And even in the – I remember in college I used to like, just throw it. Just throw it out there. And I was just like – Coach Dave would grab me and say, son.

29:03I said, Coach, we go over this every day in practice.

29:06Shannon Sharpe:They can't guard me. That's all I'm saying. Coach, just give me a chance. Just put it up.

29:17Shannon Sharpe:But I just, like I said, look, look. Everybody is not as versed as dealing with the media because you understand, Ocho.

29:31it's a skill to that it is Ocho

29:35Shannon Sharpe:I was very very fortunate because I remember in college I'm standing in front of the mirror I'm talking to myself they ask me a question I had a good game this is how I'm going to respond this is how I'm going to ask if I had a bad game I had a couple of drops I missed some assignments this is how I'm going to do it so by the time I got there I'm like okay you know I'm looking at other guys I see Steve Atwater how he talked I see Dennis Smith, how he talks. I hang around a little while and watch Elway, see how he talks to the media. I'm like, okay, okay, a little bit of, okay. Try to stay level.

30:07Shannon Sharpe:Try to stay, you know, even keel. Not get, you know, too disappointed. You know, obviously, yeah. Sometimes I'm not going to have a game. I'm going to have a drop or two in a tough spot. But just trying to just like, just to be level. Just to understand they got a job to do. I understand we all have jobs to do. Even though I didn't do my job to the best of my ability, that doesn't excuse me from not helping you do your job. I always understood that, Ocho, and I tried to be professional. I always tried to be professional in that aspect of it. But it's not easy when you're not playing well and people are like, well, the guy might have played better if such and such would have played better.

30:49Yeah, I don't know.

30:50Shannon Sharpe:But yeah, it's just it's it's but social media is hard now, Ocho. It had been, you know, I don't know what I've had fun with social media. Yeah, I probably would have took some shots of some guys I'm playing against. Absolutely. Because that's just my nature. I couldn't help it. Let me see. You know, what's funny is I didn't I need I didn't need social media. I use the media to take my shots. You have to understand. See, you and I were a little different. so my comparison as far as taking shots I would use a comparison with me and Steve Smith Sr. Steve Smith Sr. he's taking shots and he meant that.

31:26He meant every word he said if he's talking about somebody. Now my taking shots and sending gifts to the secondary as a whole you already know it's entertainment. You already know it's entertainment is more of an invitation as to the competition and making sure boy you better be on your P's and Q's come Sunday listen I didn't already gave you bulletin to boy material now it's up for you to be able to stop it that's all I mean but oh man if I could do it again I'd do it the same way and add some more to it hey I done came up with some great ideas watching today's game that I wish I was still playing I can go back and implement it then

32:11Shannon Sharpe:yeah Yeah, man, Smitty, man, Smitty, man, Smitty. I haven't watched Smitty because I played a couple years. Like I said, my last year in Baltimore, I went to the Pro Bowl, which was his first year, which was 2001. Smitty's first year was 2001. Yeah, we can do it. He was at the Pro Bowl as a return of that year. So that was my really first introduction to him. And, you know, he's been always cool to me. He's always been respectful. He's always been great. but man just watching him play he angry he's literally angry now he'll catch a touchdown and if it means that if I catch this touchdown and celebrate I gotta whip your ass in the corner of the end though I'll do that too if I gotta fight you in the middle of the field hey man no he about that hey chat I don't know if y 'all know does the chat know that Steve and I played at Santa Monica Junior College in LA we played on the same team So what the people with the world saw once he got to the NFL hell, I saw that in 1997 and 1998 in LA He was the exact same way.

33:18He was he was a pit bull. He was angry Nobody might not have pissed him off, but his style of play It was like somebody did something wrong to him like somebody pissed him off

33:29Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, and he said, you know, he had he's dealing with some issues and you know He's gotten counseling and he got counseling got better, but he's a lot better now man And Smitty used to be like, I'm like, Smitty, damn. All the time, all the time you on 12. Hey, he fighting. Hey, listen, he whooping teammates. He whooping his teammates. He whooping the other team. You know, it don't matter who it is. Yeah. He like, Sharp, man, don't play with me. Hey, when you say don't play with him and leave that alone, he mean that now. Don't let that size fool you. Everybody be talking, they talking reckless now.

34:08Shannon Sharpe:He's still on that type of time now. Absolutely. He's still on that type of time. Copenhagen's spit-free pouches are packed full of American-grown tobacco. Made for welders. 37:46Shannon Sharpe:Another streak that might be coming to an end, Ocho. Mike Evans needs to average 172 yards per game in the remaining five games to hit 1 ,000, Mark. for the 12th consecutive season. Evans is currently tied with Jerry Wright for the most consecutive streaks at 11. The only difference is Evans all came to start a career. Will he make history, Ocho? It would be hard. It would be hard. I'm not sure if they can find a way to get in the ball to be able to average that many yards with all the talent that they have over there offensively. Bucky Irvin's now back. He's healthy. playing out his mind Tess Johnson so I think it would be difficult especially when he does come back I think defenses are still going to focus on him I think they're still going to focus on him based on his resume and what he's done over an extended period of time and how dangerous he is in one on one situations has anybody ever averaged 172 yards 172 yards over five games?

38:55That's very difficult to do. Hell yeah!

38:58Shannon Sharpe:Hey, this ain't Madden. That's almost 800 yards in five games. You know what's funny? Let's say if he was in an offense like maybe the Rams or maybe the offense like the Seattle Seahawks. I could see him doing it. I could see him doing it, but that's not the type of offense that they have. He's able to get that. he's able to get those type of yards and that consistency for the past 11 years over an extended course of a season not being able to do it in a short amount of time in a five-game span unless he goes crazy for a 300-yard game and then you consistently have a 75 then maybe a 120 like that's different that's that's there ain't been a whole lot of 300-yard game there's been a lot of 200-yard games don't you ain't a whole lot of 300 it's possible it's possible you play against a team that has a defensive coordinator that says, we playing man, we don't give a goddamn hell who we playing, you're going to have to show us you can beat us?

39:59It's a possibility.

40:02Shannon Sharpe:Normally it's a guy with exceptional speed, Ocho, because you've got to break a big one. If you go back and look at Megatron, Megatron had 15 for 320. I think Megatron had 13 or 14 for 329. Flipper had 15 for 339. Who else had a 300-yard game? I think Stephon Page. I think Stephon Page had. Jimmy Smith had 291 against the Ravens in 2000. There might not have been. There might be only five, six 300-yard games in the NFL. How many 300-yard games have they been in history?

40:40Yeah, that's it.

40:44Shannon Sharpe:Flip had 339. 336, yeah. Now, Megatron had 329. Somebody had 306. Was that Stephon Page? 309. Megatron, that was against Dallas, wasn't it?

41:02Shannon Sharpe:Who do you play for?

41:07Ooh.

41:08Shannon Sharpe:Crazy Legs? No, I don't know no Jim Benton. I was going to say Tom Fierce. No. Who do you play for? oh oh hell no I get it he played in the 50s we can't count those we don't know if the field was actually who was it oh Julio had 300 on the head when he put when he caught that ball off the head yeah oh Keighley hey Julio was gangster

41:45wow Wow. Man, that's a lot.

41:51Shannon Sharpe:That's a lot. That's a lot. I mean, you know, you've had guys have some 250s, 260s, 270s. Like I said, Jimmy Smith had 291 against us. Terrence Small, I've been on the field a couple of guys had 200. Terrence Small had 200 against us one year with New Orleans. On that Monday night game, did Stephon Page have another 200-yard game against the Broncos in 1990? I'm gonna go. Ocho, you had a 260. Chase had a 260. I had a 260, a 209 and a 190. Like, can you say? Three weeks back to back? That's about going crazy. I don't know what the hell I ate. Well, I know what I ate. I ate McDonald's. But I was going, I went bananas.

42:42Shannon Sharpe:Okay.

42:51Shannon Sharpe:336 329 wow hey the NFL need to let me come back man at least let me come back and kick and do what? be a kicker because listen the game is the game is not a day how many he had that night? I was on the feet and Stephon Page had 206 against us on a Monday night I remember that yeah he must he a small receiver yeah he was cooking us I was like damn I ain't really knowing a whole lot about you know I look I knew like obviously the big time receivers and everything but man I said damn he's cooking I don't know where he must have lined up offside because we didn't cover it they didn't know he was back there because he was cooking he was cooking us ocho

43:52Shannon Sharpe:uh jazz rookie jackson dart said he will not be spending his bye week with friends and family dart said it's all ball for me it's all ball just study and game plan ocho how rare is this i like very like it very rare but obviously you have a bye week for a reason you have a by week for a reason. It's the chance for you to mentally reset. Go spend your time with your family and your friends, man. He got to have a good time to reset. He got five more weeks. His season is going to be over. He can go re-get big. Stay in the game plan. You can stay in the game plan. You can do that. You can do that with your family and your friends.

44:28No, you can't. You know damn well you instead of taking that playbook home. Let me ask you something. We in week 14, right? We in week 14. You're not going to the playoffs. Enjoy your Family and friends. Get your little mental reset so the next five weeks, you can come in there fresh, mentally reset, and come in there and see if you can finish the season off strong. And it's cute. I like what you're doing. But, like, come on now. Enjoy yourself, man.

44:55Shannon Sharpe:I think Steve DeBerr was the quarterback, too, for the Chiefs. Man, they would cook this, man. Steve DeBerr, the quarterback? Hey, what's the quarterback that used to wear? Not the cowboy collar. I had the arm. Oh, Steve Brogan. Nick Roll. Steve Brogan. For the Patriots. Yeah, that goddamn donut. How you play quarterback with a damn donut on?

45:23Shannon Sharpe:I think it was the bird was the quarterback, wasn't it?

45:30Shannon Sharpe:They, uh, man, they run that play, man, they run that because they had Barry Ward and Christian Okoye. So, man, when they run that... Kansas City? Kansas City? Yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah. They run it. And that's what's so amazing. Because Brian Schottenheimer is nothing like his dad. His dad was like three yards in a cloud of dust. Brian Schottenheimer aired that thing out. He ain't nothing like his dad.

46:05Shannon Sharpe:uh bye week what'd you do in your bye week oh did you go back to miami you go to vegas what'd you do you know i don't gamble and i don't party hey bye week i'm back in miami relaxing i'm in the pool video games in the pool video games hot tub cold tub hot tub cold tub video games nothing nothing to do with football period yeah ask about your only recorded stat with a tackle on the punt yeah i got it that was you yeah what would you use that they're tackling hey hurray and hug that thing up i'm back beating him too i said oh he's gonna fair catch i said oh yeah you're gonna fair catch it you timed it up perfect no gain on the plate

46:57Shannon Sharpe:Hey, Shay with that gun, my man. Okay. I was second on the special team to tackle my first year. I led special teams to tackle my second year. Me too. My first year. You don't know that special teams. I did. My rookie year, I played special teams. I was the wedge buster. I was the foe on the left. Boy, you too little. You ain't got enough ass to be no wedge buster. Are you forgetting when I came in as a rookie, I was 240? Nah, you need to be more than 240 to be the wedge buster. You got, hey, look here. You definitely tried to get a concussion. You the wedge buster. Because back then, hold on, hold on.

47:36Shannon Sharpe:Hold on, we just saw. Oh, man, they had a big old dude. It might have been Seattle. And they had 94 and 95 was running out there just cleaning people's clock. Because back when I first got there, they don't let you do it. They used to hold hands. So you had guys, you had two D tackles and an offensive lineman. So you had damn near over 1 ,000 pounds. In front of you. Man. Damn. Man, we played the Raiders one year in Barcelona. Richard Smith was our special teams coach now. I think he's a linebacker coach somewhere. But he was up there meeting and say, I want, we storming the beach. This is Normandy.

48:28Shannon Sharpe:We're storming the effing beach. I want someone to go over the top and make a play. I ain't no special Jesus. I don't know who you talking to. That ain't me. Because I had no game up in my spot. As a matter of fact, gave my spot to Anthony Lynn. I want to see somebody over the top and make a play.

49:14Shannon Sharpe:I had to get up off that Ocho because I had played a special team. I was and Coach Reed was wondering why Ocho I was tired. Think about Ocho I'm still the gunner in 92 but now I'm starting to start and play more. Coach Reed wonder why I'm tired. Coach I just did a full I had to beat two guys do a full out sprint 50 yards and then you talk about go right into the game. Okay I run a play okay we don't get there. I run a play Ocho we don't get the first down. I got to come in and be the gunner and he talking about get down to field what

49:54so I'm like man please your conditioning got to be crazy crazy

50:00Shannon Sharpe:because you see guys tap and come in get a play just by luck I come out on special team they get a big punt return that's my fault

50:19Shannon Sharpe:but there was there was the days i mean look special teams i don't know how effective i could have been with this style of a kick you know kick off ocho and kick return because you know a boy we just a blind side crack block them peel blocks hey better keep it it's hard to peel block somebody you can't first of all you can't do you got to do this open your open your arms up and just stand in the way that's that's that's the gist of what you can do

50:47Shannon Sharpe:good boy hey somebody be thinking they're running bro you think you're running all the way down there you think they're just gonna let you run all the way downfield ain't nobody gonna block you they're gonna get they're gonna catch you hey you better keep keep that head on a swivel you're gonna be looking at you you gotta keep your head on a swivel Ocho you got to keep your head on the swivel boy there was a day man I was thinking about it like I wonder if somebody would have actually said if I wasn't who I was because I just like this was 93 and Richard Smith our special teams coach and we're in a meeting and he's talking about how he want us to be violent he want us to strike and everything he said I want to have the best kick return and punt return He wanted to have the best teams alive.

51:35So he's like, this is what I want.

51:39Shannon Sharpe:I want violence. I want people to be reckless. I want people to be afraid to play the Denver Broncos special teams. I say, Rich, you want to lead the NFL in kick returns? He stopped the film, Ocho. That's what I'm talking about. This is a Pro Bowl, all pro tight end, saying he want to lead the league in kickoff returns. I said, well take me off, my man gonna make the tackle every time.

52:13Shannon Sharpe:Hey, if anybody know Richard Smith, ask anybody that was in that feed. He stopped it, I said, hey, well you need to take me off, cause my man gonna make the tackle every time. That's funny, boy. A-Lynn, that's not A-Lynn, Anthony Lynn, used to be coach of the Jazz, I think he was the coach. No, he was the coach of the Chargers. I think he was the coordinator of the Rex Ryan. You played with Coach Lynn? Yeah, I played with him. I didn't know that. Okay. Yeah. Richard Smith was a special teams coach. A-Lynn had just got there. But A-Lynn ended up making a team. He was a fullback for us, but he made a team on special teams.

52:55Shannon Sharpe:He's the Bears linebacker coach? Okay.

52:59Shannon Sharpe:That's my guy. All right, Ocho, it's time to get out of here on this. It's time for our final segment of the evening. It's time for Q and A. Oh, man. A, tell us more about the cookie. Nah. We're going to leave Cookie. Where are we at? Cookie, a husband, a boyfriend might be mad because I'm sure somebody going, there's plenty of cookies. They don't know it. It ain't just one cookie. There's a lot of different type of cookies. Could be Oreo, oatmeal, raisin, chocolate chip, Ritz crackers. listen if you understand the way god if you understand the way god work cookie is available cookies available not to me my bad i forgot you got look you got a little little yeah i sure do

53:43Shannon Sharpe:and y 'all see and y 'all saw dr bryant talking me through how i should do my relationship you saw yeah i saw i saw it yeah yeah i i should have been there for that because i got some questions for miss brian would you want me to put you in touch you i can put it in touch with you now with me oh no sabby's the ocho bye week with every week with them sorry a bingo dang ocho he said y 'all in the bye week every week i don't know i don't they might have been on the bye week but i was out there putting up numbers.

54:21Shannon Sharpe:Samari Rye 6704 says Judge Judas is so buns. Smith is right. He's just a jag. That's what they call Jerry Judas. They call this man Judas now.

54:36Shannon Sharpe:Kevin Boatnight If y 'all lose at the buffet in locker room. Go ahead, man. Hey, who the Broncos got this week, huh? Who we got this week?

54:56Raiders? We got the Raiders. Yeah, that's a trap game. Y 'all gonna lose that. Y 'all gonna lose that one.

55:06Shannon Sharpe:Didn't I tell you we gonna sweep the NLSA East? Did we not sweep the NLSA East? You hear what I just said. If you understand the way the game of football works, for some reason, the Raiders are going to beat y 'all. Now, I said it here first. I'm not being disrespectful to Broncos fans. I'm just saying that's the way football goes.

55:29Shannon Sharpe:That's what you want. You said the commander was going to beat. I didn't say that. How they going to beat y 'all? You didn't have no James Daniels.

55:39Shannon Sharpe:Old school, 513-sissy. With the Browns opening the 21-day practice window for Deshaun Watson, do you see him taking another snap with the Cleveland Browns? That's a great question. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. Do they throw him in there and he hasn't had any opportunity to have training camp? He hasn't had any opportunity to go with the ones? I don't think so, but I think he's on the roster next year. And if they're not happy with the way the season ends with Shadour at the helm, maybe Deshaun Watson is the quarterback next year. they still owe him how much did he still owe to john don't they got another year or two on that contract they probably still owe him another 70 80 million dollars

56:37Shannon Sharpe:So he is only on the hook for$46 million next year. That's it.

56:44Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, only.

56:48Shannon Sharpe:Deshaun Allen, what's up, Uncle Nocho? My question is, how difficult is it for y 'all to choose the right agent to represent you and make the right decisions? Well, it's difficult. I had several agents, the agent that I started with, and then for my second contract, I had a different agent. And for my third contract, I had a different agent. And so the agent that I got for my fourth contract in 96, he's still my agent today. So almost 30 years I've had one guy. But it's hard. It all depends on what you're looking for for an agent. Some agents, all they want to do is contract. some agents have an agency where they'll handle everything they'll pay your bills they'll have somebody do your taxes they'll do all that other stuff whatever you need they have you know some people now you know a lot of people go to caa or they go to uh uh uh what's the uh uh wme or they go to what's the other you're not uta but they do the wasser it just all depends because now you want marketing and you want advertisement and you want to try to build a business so you want to do tv so it's just it's hard i mean you know just do your research and what are you looking for that's the main thing you have to ask yourself what are you looking for are you looking for somebody to just do tv contracts and that's it or you want somebody to do tv contracts and position you in tv but when you're done yeah that's a whole different story but it's not easy at all I think also, you know what, when you say it's not easy, I think another thing that makes things easy, regardless of who your agent is, is who the player is you're talking about.

58:28Who's the player? What does he do on the field? Because sometimes the player on the field makes the goddamn agent job extremely easy, makes it very easy. So I had two agents my whole career. My first agent, obviously, my rookie year, Jerome Stanley. Jerome Stanley, phenomenal, phenomenal. He set me up big time, not just being my agent. He set me big time even now where some of the stuff that he put in place during my rookie year still has me able to survive years beyond me playing the goddamn game. And then obviously after that, I was with the Shark, who I consider one of the better agents in the NFL, Drew Rosenhaus.

59:06And I think about the movie Jerry Maguire. And I picture that's who Drew is in real life. Drew and Jerry Maguire, he's going to squeeze and get you every goddamn penny he can. Especially if you're not a player that's of status. Big name. He's going to get you what you want. He's going to get you what you need. For me, I was very fortunate in only having two agents, and those two I did have. Jerome Stanley, I'm sure you'll see this. If I've never had a chance to tell you thank you, I'm going to tell you thank you now again because of what you've done back then when I was a rookie. Well, still to this day, man, I'm floating.

59:46Boy, I'm floating high. I appreciate it. Yeah.

59:48Shannon Sharpe:My first agent was my brother's agent because, look, I wasn't going to make no whole lot of money, and I didn't want to give up no 3%, 4 % or no$63 ,000. So he told my brother he'd do the contract for free. Oh. Dylan Bennett, the Falcons have more sacks than the Cowboys, but they don't miss Micah.

1:00:14Shannon Sharpe:True and infamous, Micah and Green Bay getting sacks after sack every week. How many sacks does Cowboys defense combined have this year? Combined, I don't think they have 12 and a half. I hope they got 12 and a half. I hope. But, Micah, Miles Garrett definitely have more sacks than some teams. Cowboys have 29. Okay, my bad. Damn, they 20-something behind? 21-22 behind the Broncos because I think the Broncos lead with 51. Broncos going crazy. That got Benito and what's the other young bull on the other side of Benito? Cooper. Oh, boy. Nice, boy. Who next close to him?

1:01:02Yeah, and then you got

1:01:05Shannon Sharpe:Zach Allen in the middle.

1:01:11Shannon Sharpe:Brandon Martinez, Dallas fan. Don't let this loss get to you. This is the NFC. It's tougher than the AFC. Watch Brian Schottenheimer turn this franchise around. We had a bad start, but we have a future. Just watch.

1:01:29Shannon Sharpe:Why are you looking like that? I don't know. I mean, how many teams in the NFC have double-digit wins? Because I can name two in the AFC that got double-digit wins. The Broncos and the Patriots. Both of them got 11, the other got 10. So how many teams in the NFC, since you say it's tougher, have more than 10 or 11 wins? Do you think that might be the reason why he's saying it's tougher? Because the level of competition is so even as opposed to the Patriots running through the easy and what he may consider the easy. You know, the Patriots are good and the Cowboys aren't. That's what I make of that.

1:02:09Shannon Sharpe:That's what I make of it.

1:02:17Shannon Sharpe:TG 072185 hey guys I don't see how the league has no issue replaying a concussion we don't need to keep seeing that treat it like other gruesome injuries I mean

1:02:34okay

1:02:38Shannon Sharpe:what cost you the game I hate to say it but Jared Jones is going to go to the grave before he see another Super Bowl. Shaking my head. Look, they've got to – they have an offense that's capable. They have one of the better offenses. I mean, I think they lead the league in total yards. They can score points. They can't stop anybody.

1:03:03Shannon Sharpe:See, now if you can't stop anybody, don't you? And let's just say for the sake of art, you can't stop anybody or you get stopped, you settle for three. Next thing you know, I mean, now all of a sudden it's boom. You down 10-3. Now you down 17-3. Now you down 17-6. Now you down 24-3. It's hard. It's hard to play like that.

1:03:27Shannon Sharpe:Y 'all keep saying the Patriots schedule is pretty easy. Y 'all believe the Cowboys can beat the Patriots? Y 'all believe the Cowboys can beat the Broncos? Because if I'm not mistaken, I think the Broncos played the Cowboys.

1:03:48Shannon Sharpe:y 'all realize y 'all lost to the Cardinals so what the Cardinals going to the playoffs y 'all keep on talking y 'all keep on talking about the schedule think about look at the team that y 'all lost to how the Cardinals looking hey Jacoby Brissett throwing 4 ,000 yards every game and did it on y 'all But Jacoby Brissett got a starting job in the NFL thanks to y 'all on a Monday night. Do y 'all remember that? Because I do. Tino Davis, do y 'all know even if Micah, hold up. Do y 'all know even with Micah they were trash?

1:04:26Shannon Sharpe:So I guess they sanitation now or garbage. Because which is worse, trash or garbage?

1:04:41Shannon Sharpe:All I know, Green Bay looking pretty good to me. Yeah. Look, hey. All I know is Green Bay getting after the quarterback. That man got 12 and a half sacks. Y 'all keep, all I know is Michael Parsons has done something no other player has done in his career. Start their career off with at least double-digit sacks. He got 12. He started his career with 12 sacks. Think about all the great players, all the great sackers. he's the only one that's done that

1:05:11Shannon Sharpe:Fins and Jay who love a cookie more Santa or Unk that's a good one man my homeboy Bucket gonna call me tomorrow man what the hell you say man man what you talking about man my phone was blowing up

1:05:33Shannon Sharpe:uh mclover oh i played golf with your brother recently very cool guy ocho you hell my boy never change today's my birthday fella 35 any advice yeah a little mate to get 36 what's your advice ocho yeah i'm trying to think 35 maybe that was so long I can't I can't I can't even remember 35 I was still playing huh no you were I would just finish I was that was my early transition I had just finished yeah I had just finished I had just that was my last season um I retired that was good old time man what I get will be 35 one more time hey um i got i got i got a i got a joke for you real quick oh lord have mercy what's the joke hey chat y 'all ready what do you call a deaf gynecologist

1:06:46Shannon Sharpe:yeah what do you call a deaf gynecologist

1:07:04Shannon Sharpe:What'd you call it, Mocho? A lip reader.

1:07:14Shannon Sharpe:Bad.

1:07:19Shannon Sharpe:Oh, Lord, have mercy. I'm sorry, Chad. Alex Palix, hey, Ocho, I got your man card today. Should I put you or Joey Galloway as my ex? What you think, Unc? Hey, put me. Put me. Man, Joey Galloway has to be. Man, that joke was so fast, don't you? Hey, Ocho, hold the ball like this. He pawned the ball. He rumbled the ball. Hey, Joey was fast, boy. Yeah, man. Because he was with Seattle first before he got traded to the Cowboys. So he was Seattle. So we saw him twice a year. Man, that pigeon-toed rascal could run, boy. Ocho, man, the first time I saw him, that joke was so pigeon-toed, I ain't know where to say hello or throw bird seed.

1:08:02Shannon Sharpe:But that's, I ain't know, Ocho. Hey, one thing, he could pick him up and put him down, boy. What? He could go. Ain't a whole lot of receivers that came out of Ohio State that couldn't run.

1:08:18Shannon Sharpe:Horace Tidwell my 9-under Buffalo Stampeders lost the regional championship game 13-12 last week. Park Warner National still invited us this weekend with a chance to win the Super Bowl. Pep talked to the kids about second chances. That's it, see? You just had delayed success. All is not lost. You still got an opportunity to get to ultimate destination. Man, come on bro. This our second chance. A lot of people don't get second chances. You got one. Let's make the most of it.

1:08:53Shannon Sharpe:Dark Born. Dallas got powder puff schedule remaining. Vikings, Chargers, Washington, and the Giants. Powder puff? The Chargers? Guess what? That's what the Chargers saying. They looking at Dallas on their schedule and saying, we got a powder puff schedule. Y 'all make it seem like Dallas got 10 wins.

1:09:14Shannon Sharpe:You don't.

1:09:20Shannon Sharpe:Aaron Jones, I told you guys last night, the Bills are trash for what they did. They knew Slate only wanted to play for the Eagles. Now you forced him into retirement. Shaking my head. How sad. Hey.

1:09:37Shannon Sharpe:Maybe they thought he could help. Exactly. Which is why they went and got him.

1:09:43Shannon Sharpe:you do realize teams are not trying to help other teams win. Do they know that?

1:09:58Shannon Sharpe:T-Scare Carwise Detail. If you interview Kevin Gates, that would melt the internet when the cat part two coming. I got them. Kevin Gates funny boy. Yeah, I see him from time to time. We tried to set up something. It didn't happen.

1:10:21Hey, you know, a Kevin Gates would do stupid crazy. I'm talking about crazy numbers because you don't know what he's going to say. And Charleston White would do crazy numbers.

1:10:39you think what oh yeah man oh man listen man hey he won't get clear he won't get close to cat but he damn sure gonna be up there and then he's somebody that can talk about any topic like people might think he's a fool

1:10:55Shannon Sharpe:and talk crazy but then he no he calculate he'd say some outlandish stuff but uh you know a lot of his stuff a lot of his stuff you know it resonates he be on point stuff go birds 800 hey uncle ocho y 'all forgot about prime josh gordon in cleveland if not for his mistakes yeah i think that i think it was that that 2014 season if i'm not mistaken i might have i might have a year wrong but boy nah yeah it might have been 2014-20 you might be right ocho yeah you You might be right. When he had those back-to-back 200-yard games. Oh, he led to – actually, he missed – I think he missed the first two games and led the league in receiving with 1 ,600 yards.

1:11:43Shannon Sharpe:Bungie Vision TV. Can you get guys pleased to create a segment called Take It or Leave It where we ask y 'all questions and you give us advice, the kind of advice OBJ needed. Man, I don't think OBJ, look, he said he was just talking about it in general. Ocho and I was talking about it in general. We were just saying if somebody is spending$4 million in expenses a year and you don't have a business, it's just hard for me to see somebody spending that kind of money that doesn't have a business. Now, if you Jay-Z, if you one of these LeBron, well, you got 24-hour security. You Kevin Hart, well, you got that kind of security.

1:12:24Shannon Sharpe:I get it then. I do. But look at the kind of money LeBron and Kevin Hart and Hov and Bay. Look at kind of Taylor Swift. Look at the kind of money Drake. Look at the kind of money they're making. Yeah, it takes money. Yeah, they're going to be protected at the yin-yang. But I just can't mean. Hey, could you imagine? Ocho, I'm not spending no$50 ,000,$75 ,000 for the day. cleats to play no game i don't give a damn what they are hey can you imagine what kevin hart or lebron overhead is every month yeah i can imagine yes you got 24-hour security ocho 24 hours they all i mean look lebron fly with the team but lebron flies private then you got no choice yes when you go when you go when you go somewhere you get in a yacht you get in a yacht for a week or two probably a hundred two hundred thousand dollars you know a week you stand in a suite the presidential suite probably five ten thousand dollars a night different yeah absolutely different but the thing that really what really gets you if you got kids and you're not married and you have them in a state you know kids could be anywhere between 1500 a month to$25 ,000,$30 ,000,$40 ,000,$50 ,000 a month.

1:13:53Shannon Sharpe:Now tack on, you know,$10 ,000,$15 ,000,$20 ,000 a year private school.

1:14:00Shannon Sharpe:So money go fast, Ocho. Damn. But hopefully OJ, OJ, OBJ took care of his money. He made good money. He was a first-round draft pick, and he had endorsements. Big time. He had a Nike deal. I mean, he, so he did. So hopefully everything's okay. Hopefully everything works out with OBJ. Ocho and I, even though he was discussing, we were just saying, I said, if he spent$4 million a year, an overhead, that's, that's crazy. That's crazy.

1:14:39Shannon Sharpe:King Payne 21. Oh, geez. All the folk keep telling us what would happen to the game when so much money gets involved. No more heart and love for the game, only the bag in 4K. Yeah, it's – look, bro. It's tough, man. I mean, you tip your hat to guys, Ocho, that when they get the bag, they still play as if they broke. You look at a Brady. You look at a Manning. You look at a Jordan. You look at a Colby. You look at a LeBron. You look at some of these guys, Ocho. They still play like they broke, like they destitute. And then you see some guys get it, and, man, they just – You know. Yeah. I'm trying to get another contract.

1:15:23Shannon Sharpe:So y 'all found some of y 'all found 100 million, 200 beats. Man, let me try to get another. They might got three, four in there for you, boy. That's how you and I think. Everybody don't think like that. Ask 370. Hard knocks made me get back on the Eagles. We're going to run this ish, and we're going to win the Super Bowl. Also, Slay wants to come home. What y 'all think, huh? Yeah, we talked we talked about it earlier. I think that's the only thing I could think of. I mean mentally I think you know slave must have been checked out I'm sure they probably mutually agreed to part ways because things weren't working out over there and in Pittsburgh and he I'm sure he was hoping Can you imagine Ocho?

1:16:02Shannon Sharpe:You in Cincinnati you healthy you had a great week of practice and you're healthy scratch.

1:16:12I Don't like that

1:16:14Shannon Sharpe:They see.

1:16:19Shannon Sharpe:Do low Conte. Watch the game at home. The best seats in the house. All you can eat and drink. True. True. Man, I should, you know what? I'm going to find out. I'm going to find out. I'm going to call my guy at the Broncos and see how much the cheapest sweet is.

1:16:44Shannon Sharpe:Because I'm trying to think. Hold on. I used to go to the Rams game and went to the suites a couple times. As a matter of fact, I went to Matthew Stafford. I was with his wife, Kelly. She's great. She's unbelievable. She's really, really, really down to earth. And I don't know if I can say that about a whole lot of NFL quarterbacks' wife, but she is really, really down to earth. If you didn't know who she was, just talking to her, you would never know her husband as Matthew Stafford. That's the impression I got. Now, I can't say with everybody else how she was with everybody else, but I'm just saying how she was with me.

1:17:23Shannon Sharpe:Benji 97, start, cut, Marsha Falk, Adrian Peterson, LaDainian Tomlinson. All I know is Marsha Falk won a Super Bowl. He's a league MVP and a three-time offensive player of the year. Adrian Peterson and LaDainian Tomlinson both won MVPs. Damn. Yeah, hey, that's a tough one. About time you got one.

1:17:47Damn.

1:17:49Shannon Sharpe:Ooh, Lord. Marshall and LaDainian are really like very, very similar. AP didn't catch a whole lot of passes. Not saying that he couldn't, but that's not what his forte was. He is an old school, old school, old school, old school, old school running back. hand it to him, toss it to him. Woo! Nobody scored like LT. This game is about scoring, so I gotta keep LT. Gotta keep him. Damn. Damn.

1:18:31Shannon Sharpe:Damn it, I'm cutting everybody. I don't want none of them. Back and back. Love the pie. Keep it up. Yo, Ocho, good cookie on the show. That segment will be fire. What you're going to have on the show, I ain't going to be here.

1:18:50Shannon Sharpe:Levin LeVester, what's up, Uncle Ocho? Can you give a special shout-out to my girlfriend, Jazzy? She had a rough week and needs a little motivation. Thank you. Thank you and keep doing your thing. Jazzy, what's going on? Hopefully you're feeling better. I know a lot of Jazzy. that's a very common name Jasmine probably named Jasmine but anyway Jazzy your man said you had a very very rough week we don't know what caused that week but you know sunshine follows rain keep your head up put one foot in front of the other and realize sunshine follows rain whatever you're going through just know God got you and you're going to come out on the other side being even better than when you went in we love you here at Nightcap Jazzy Brian BB Gaming Ocho did you really sleep at the stadium for a bit what the hell are you talking about where did you sleep where did you watch TV etc what about if a baddie pulled up ain't no baddie pulled up I was locked in but players lounge players lounge had everything couches video games cable pinball machine playstation xbox was in there at the time cafeteria everything was there all the amenities that you would have in a house me coming from nothing going from college only having you know what four months of college so I mean I was content I was content it wasn't like I was coming from a four year institution a big PWI and nah I'm saving that money what's the point of spending money on a place when everything I need is right here at work

1:20:27Shannon Sharpe:Kevin I don't know how to say his last name bro but it's you Kevin Yo, Unc, you should reach out to former USC walk-on Owen Hanson for Club Shea Shea. He has an unbelievable story, which much more than could be told.

1:20:45Shannon Sharpe:Okay. Wish you'd have gave us a little insight. Eric Jordan, Scott, Unc, and Ocho need your help with one. Kennesaw State or Jacksonville State, Prairie View, A &M, Jackson State or North Texas or Tulane? Kennesaw States and Georgia. I think they're pretty good. I don't really know a whole lot about Jacksonville State. Prairie View, A &M, I know about them. I know about Jackson State. North Texas. Isn't that where me and Joe Green went? Didn't he go to North Texas? And Tulane, the Green Wave. I don't know anybody that went there. But, hey.

1:21:35Shannon Sharpe:Oh, Joe, where should he go? Kennesaw State, Jacksonville State, Prairie View, Jackson, North Texas, or Tulane? I mean... I don't know what you majoring in, what you looking for. I mean, my baby just went to Prairie View A &M. She just graduated, so... I don't know much about the other schools. I never got the chance to experience the HBCU, so... I would say Prairie View.

1:22:03Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, I mean he all over the place. I mean he got some HBCU. He got some PWIs. So I don't really know what he's looking for. HBL OG. Sup, Uncle Ocho. I saw they're doing an L.A. documentary on Netflix. Can't wait to see it. What other team or sports would you like to see a documentary or series, Ocho? Another team or individual player? It's a team or a series. Let me see a team. I would like. you first of all you know lebron is going to have a documentary of course because he got cameras following him all the time but his story his we all know his story because everything is is it's like it's live we've lived it we've lived this entire story right they should do a doc did they do a documentary on kobe I'm not sure He did his own Trying to think Who was really interesting I'm trying to think Who should get a documentary It got to be somebody interesting too though Yeah Usain Bolt Interesting

1:23:17Damn that's a great question No Ocho, you should do a documentary. Well, my story's not finished yet, though.

1:23:30Shannon Sharpe:They have the Dundee 74, Elkan Ocho. Much love, the Nightcap family. Best three to five barrier ping pong bowling dice. Who's winning between? Well, I'm winning in cards. I'm winning in dice. I'm probably going to win in pool. Ping pong is a toss-up. if my hips don't stiffen up in frames 5, 6, and 7, I got it. You got who?

1:23:59Shannon Sharpe:Ocho Cinco. No. I mean, everything they just named, everything they just named. You not beat me in cards, you not beat me in dice. You not beat me in no dice or no cards, man. What are you talking? You ain't beat me in no ping pong, let alone pool. You naming things I was an expert at in high school. Come on now.

Keep fighting. Lock in. Day to day. Saw your car since 7826. When you start losing yourself, how did you find it again?

1:25:07Shannon Sharpe:And if you haven't found yourself yet, what advice for people to do so? Love y 'all.

1:25:24Shannon Sharpe:you know those sayings that self is not something you find self is something you create now it's easy to get caught up in a lot of different things uh uh money uh praise adulation um but who are you before you had any of that who were you at your core who are you football that's what I did that's not who I am

1:25:53Shannon Sharpe:Glenville Georgia no that's where I'm from that's not who I am so you have to go back to the very beginning before you had all this fame before you had all this attention before you had money before you had anything if I take all that away who are you what are you how are you what would you be sometimes things get sometimes things times get hard i'm living testament to that sometimes you're like damn lord but i just realized i'm like bro i i know god you didn't bring me this far to bring me this far to leave me now i just got to trust in you i just got to believe that there's a message and everything that that i'm going through right now and boy y 'all know I've been in the I've been in the storm very few people have had their storm play out on national television people got an opportunity to track my storm just like they track Katrina just like they track Andrew

1:26:56Shannon Sharpe:but and there are times they're like Lord have mercy but everyday I was able to open my eyes like okay I got another day

1:27:11Shannon Sharpe:Got another day. Boy, I'm telling you, it ain't easy sometimes. It's not. It's not. That's when you got to have people that you know care about you and you care about them. Man, Bucket called me every day. Every day. Burns. Hey, I just want to hear your voice. we're going to be alright and we are I thank you guys because man it was there were some days I didn't want to do this

1:27:50Shannon Sharpe:but then I thought about what else am I going to do sit and think and feel sorry for myself nah I couldn't succumb to those thoughts you feel sorry for yourself for a couple of days and then you pick yourself up, you put your clothes on and you go to work.

1:28:13Shannon Sharpe:That's what I did, Sawyer. That's what I did. Duntie, Death Taxes and Elcho Elgato. Go Birds. Hey, do you think A.J. Brown and D.L. are the most physical receivers today? I say they are because I'm an Ole Miss guy. Oh, you meant D.K.

1:28:38Shannon Sharpe:actually if I had I would say Juwan Jennings you got to be in that West Coast system guys that block for real and I know you look at the physical you look at DK his size what 6 '4 230 you look at AJ Brown probably 6 '3 215 220 oh yeah Yeah, LeBron, LeBron MD coming through to see you, Shanna. Hope you'll sign my bottle. I appreciate that. I'll see you. Hopefully, in Vegas, we can do a taste test. You know, we get a little sip, you know, make that thing right.

1:29:24Shannon Sharpe:That concludes this episode of Nightcap. I want to thank each and every one of you for joining us as you watch the Dallas Cowboys lose by the score of 44-30 to the Detroit Lions. Now they still have a slim playoff hope, slim margin to make the playoffs. And Detroit strengthened their playoffs possibility. But Detroit played extremely well tonight. The Cowboys' two turnovers were very, very costly. But give the Lions credit, Jerry Goff played extremely well. Jameer Gibbs had three rushing touchdowns as they win the ball game by the score of 44-30. Please make sure you hit that subscribe button.

1:30:03Shannon Sharpe:Please make sure you hit the like button and go subscribe to the Nightcap Podcast feed wherever you get your podcasts from. 1:30:41Shannon Sharpe:So I appreciate you guys because you don't know what you actually did for me. I appreciate you.
