In short

NBA playoff push and roster/health decisions, plus debate over LeBron’s play-in avoidance and Nick Wright’s “best guards” list; also includes Pelicans/Zion trade talk and a quick betting/Q&A segment.

Guests (on-air)

No named external guests appear in the transcript. The episode is hosted by Ocho (Ocho Cinco) and Joe (plus other recurring co-host voices), with callers/Discord voicemails participating in Q&A.

Guest backgrounds (from context)

Ocho and Joe are sports media personalities who discuss basketball and other sports; Discord callers include a marathon runner (Toronto) and a Target delivery worker (Lake Charles), plus other sports fans.

Key claims

  • Steve Kerr says Steph Curry, Kristaps Porzingis, and Al Horford will be limited to under 40 minutes vs the Clippers.
  • LeBron says avoiding the play-in is a relief; he expects to be aggressive and likely play heavy minutes anyway.
  • Pelicans exec Joe Dumas claims there are “no intentions” to trade Zion Williamson; Zion and Derrick Queen need time to gel.
  • Nick Wright’s top-10 guards list notably excludes Steph Curry, which the hosts strongly dispute.

Notable examples

  • Minute restriction debate tied to past overtime-heavy minutes (e.g., Bridges 43, LaMelo 40).
  • LeBron’s age/rest discussion (41 vs 33 in 2018).
  • Zion as a potential “20-10” player when healthy.
  • PrizePicks bets: Steph 26.5+ points; Paulo Banchero rebounds+assists over 13.5; Tyrese Maxey 2+ threes; Pascal/Ben Mathurin 11+ points.

2:02I'm Daniel Alarcon, and this is my friend who's much more famous than I am. I wouldn't go that far, but I'm John Green, co-host of the podcast The Away End with my old friend Daniel. On our podcast The Away End, we'll share with you the magic of international football, all leading up to the 2026 World Cup. Together, we'll find out why, of all the unimportant things, football, soccer is the most important. Listen to The Away End with Daniel Alarcon and John Green on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Miles Turner. And I'm Brianna Stewart.

2:36Shannon Sharpe:And our podcast, Game Recognized Game, has never been done before. Two active players giving you a real look at our lives and what we actually think on and off the court. Nothing's off limits. We talk tanking. I might get in trouble for this answer, but I think it's, like, definitely happening in the WBA. We talk about our mistakes, too. They pulled me to the side and was like, hey, man, we got a call last night, man. You can't be rolling around the city like this the night before games. Check out Game Recognized Game with Stewie and Miles on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

3:08Shannon Sharpe:Steph Curry was one of the three Golden State Warriors who will be on a minutes restriction in the team playing game against the Clippers in Los Angeles tomorrow. Steve Curry said that Steph Curry, Kristoff Brzingis, and Al Horford will all play fewer than 40 minutes and a must-win game. Well, damn, I hope so. They will play fewer than 40 minutes? Yeah. Hold on, let me see something tonight. That's a must-win game. Why he going to dictate how many minutes they playing already? I guess he said because I got the Clippers winning that game. You don't believe in them boys over there in the bay, huh?

3:48Shannon Sharpe:I said I got the Clippers. Now, man, you can continue to bet if you want to. Oh, no, no. I ain't got no horse in that race. I mean, if you think about it, the Charlotte Hornets and Miami, they went to overtime. And Miles Bridges with overtime played 43 minutes. LaMelo Ball played 40 minutes. They played the most. And then you got Miami, Andrew Wiggins had 42. Khalil Ware had 42. Davion Mitchell had 48. And Harmon Hawkins had 41. So I hope in a regulation game, if it doesn't go over time, they play fewer than 40 minutes. Yeah. I mean, Steph don't normally play that many minutes. He don't play, though.

4:30Shannon Sharpe:Steph has really never played no, like, major minutes because they were so concerned about his ankles, Joe. Right. Now, obviously, come postseason time, all bets are off. But I guess they say, look, coming out the knee injury and dealing with what he's dealing with, he's getting on up there. They say, you know what? We're not going to even chance it. Hey, because Steve Kerr knows the intensity that those guys are going to have to play with tomorrow to even win the game. He know how physical that game is going to be. Right. You know what I mean? And with Steph just coming back, you don't want him to re-aggravate nothing.

5:00Shannon Sharpe:But at the same time, hell, if you want to continue to keep playing, you're going to need that man on the floor. For sure. Yeah. Even just his presence on the court opened things up for other players. There you go. There you go.

5:17Shannon Sharpe:I don't know if you got much choice, Steve. It ain't like you got, you know, Prime, Clay, and KD out there so you can really dictate that Steph is only going to play 30 minutes. You ain't got them hosts that can run like that anymore. Yeah. Nah, they're going to have to get some great contributions for some of them other guys, you know, who've been playing pretty – Yeah, Paz is going to have to play really well. Yeah, yeah. But the thing is, you know, they traded Kaminga. Moses Moody is hurt. I mean, maybe they got to get some production from – they got another guy, a guy from Brazil that's been shooting the cover out the ball.

5:53Shannon Sharpe:I know. I don't be knowing none of them guys either. I ain't going to lie to you. he's going to have to play really well for him. He's going to have to play well. LeBron spoke about finally avoiding the play-in tournament this year. Let's take a listen to what LeBron had to say. We have them playing. Yeah, I mean, it's going to be great. I am happy because being a participant of the fucking play-in for some years, that I get to sit back on my couch with my wine, knowing I don't have to play until the weekend. Are you not entertained? And just sit there and just, like, enjoy. I'll have one iPad with golf on and the other one with the play-in.

6:33Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, I'll just be so excited. Perfect. You got a week to prepare and watch them juke it out. It's good games. Yeah, watch and just, like, enjoy basketball.

6:45Yeah.

6:46Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Hey, look, I know he'll appreciate this because y 'all remember when they first came over to play-in thing. He hated it. Yeah, Bron hated it. He wasn't with that. Yeah. But he realized that without the play in hell, I wouldn't even be in the tournament. So listen. So what happened of a dislike turned into a blessing? Yeah. Yeah, because the past three, four years, they've been in the play in. And yeah, I'm sure. Look, I'm sure he's happy he get a chance to kind of sit back. But I think he does understand the challenges that's ahead of him, and playing this Rockets team without Luka and AR.

7:28Shannon Sharpe:You know what I mean? Yes. I've heard him talk on numerous occasions, obviously talking about it's going back to like 2018 and where he kind of basically got to carry this team. I think he knows and understands that. So I expect to see aggressive LeBron, especially game one. I know normally he typically kind of feels people out, feels teams out, but he ain't got time to be doing that because they at home. They can't squander no games away. Right. And if he had one of them subpar games where he scored 12, 13, 14 points, they're going home. They're going to get beat by 30. Yeah, they're going to be in trouble.

8:03Shannon Sharpe:Plus, the thing is, Joe, yeah, and we talked about that the other day, about 2018, but he was 33 then. Yeah. Yeah. It's a big-ass difference in professional sports from 33 to 41. Yeah. I think, yeah, it's a big difference, but if it's anybody who could do it, I think we would all agree that LeBron could do it. I think given the fact that I know he's 41, but his body is in great shape, this week of rest, I definitely think it's going to help him. You know what I mean? Because he's going to have to play big minutes too. He's probably going to be at 40 minutes a night. Easy. Yeah. Definitely more than the 34 minutes that he probably averaged.

8:43Shannon Sharpe:I think he probably averaged the fewest minutes that he's played in his NBA career. Yeah. So, yeah, he's going to be somewhere north. he's definitely going to be, I think he has to be north of 37, 38 minutes. Oh yeah, oh yeah, no question. No question. So hopefully they can keep their thing afloat when he's not in the game, but for the most part Yes. See the thing I think the biggest difference between a young great player because when you're great they don't compare you against other great players, they compare you against your younger self. You see what we did, Ocho? Joe? We didn't say anything.

9:18Shannon Sharpe:We said LeBron in 2018. We didn't say nothing about any other great player. He needs to be like Jalen Brown. He needs to be like Jokic. He needs to be like Shea. We compared him to a younger self. And that's what the greats get compared to. They don't get compared to the greats playing now. You compare them to a younger version of themselves. When you're a younger version of yourself, you know what you can do? When you're a younger version of yourself, watch out you, you're 20, you give it to them 12 back-to-back to back-to-back. now you hit him a lick and a promise I hear you give you a lick today I promise I'm gonna get you next though I'm gonna get you tomorrow that's what I got for you I ain't got what I used to have hey you might not even get that boy hey I got a spade hand joke I got two of the possibles and this might get cut off the rip if you doing everything that you told me you were gonna do it's cut right right Right.

10:16Shannon Sharpe:It's what it is. And so that's what LeBron – that's what LeBron – can LeBron score 30? Yes.

10:24Shannon Sharpe:Did you see what he did when he was in Detroit when he was young and he gave them 28 straight? He gave – he scored 28 in the 29. Oh, you saw what he did – what was that? 20 – what year was that? 2018 when he had that game against Golden State. 51. 51 the first game. Yeah, and like he couldn't do anything. Yeah. it just gets hard to sustain. That's the thing. You know, when you was in your 25, 27, Joe. Bounce back like that. Yeah. Hey, quick. That snap back. Man, you get 35, 37. God, dang. Hey, look, that's when you start talking about shit. I got to start eating right. I got to start. All that coming to play.

11:10Shannon Sharpe:You can't be messing around. Hey, damn. Anybody else, y 'all helping? Anybody else going to do anything? Damn. Anybody here by my damn self? Please. But, hey, like you said, Joe, if anybody can have that type of game, but the mere fact we're having this conversation, we're asking a 41-year-old to turn back the hands of time. Hey, if we didn't think he could do it, we wouldn't be, you know, putting this on his shoulders. I know he's capable for sure. But the thing is, Joe, you're going to ask him to do it potentially seven times. Yeah. Yeah. I understand that part, but I think this role that he's in right now, this is the role he's most comfortable in.

12:00Shannon Sharpe:Okay, Ocho. To where he's the facilitator, you know, can score whenever he wants to, but you know him finding guys getting guys wide open shots making sure guys in the right spot this this is the LeBron that I think that that he enjoys being that magic-esque kind of guy but a guy who can really put up big numbers offensively and I think he likes being the underdog too ain't nobody really giving him a chance yeah no question go back look at the series they play Toronto and you look up and look at the series when they play the Hawks or when they play the Celtics. Man, they ain't doing nothing. Y 'all ain't y 'all ain't finna do nothing.

12:44Shannon Sharpe:And here he goes. LeBron also said he wants the Lakers versus Celtics finals. Finals. That'd be crazy. I had a lot of Celtics series when I was in the East. They don't quite like me either. Damn, bro. For him to be talking about the finals. Boy, yeah, he got some juggernauts over here in the Western Conference. is he going to? Nah, I mean for him to get to the finals, they're going to need a 28-year-old Kareem or a 27-year-old Shaq and bring along a rested soul who passed on Kobe they need. Him by himself, they not coming at the East. Hey man, you hear what he said? The man said what he said. He wouldn't mind saying the Lakers and Celtics.

13:28Shannon Sharpe:Me either. It sound like he got something up his sleeve. Yeah, that's all I'm saying. Whatever. I wouldn't mind having my, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, God gave me. But you know what? I ain't got them. And so I, I take what I got. He get, he get that Lakers Celtics match if he play NBA 2K. He got, he get it. Yeah. Hey, this, this, this, this, this what he need. He need, he need, he need doubt like this. He need people to doubt him. Yeah. To get him going. This is what bro need right now. Hey, Donald. Really flying on that treadmill. I'm trying to run as fast as T-Mobile 5G home internet, Zach.

We did beat them in improv. You had an improv against the team? Yes, we would pull up. Their schools would be there with signs for us.

18:19It's competition. What you would win is a bottle of Goldschlager. James Fester threw it out of a van because he didn't want us drinking it. For more games with names, visit the iHeartRadio app or wherever you get your podcasts.

18:33Shannon Sharpe:Pelicans executive Joe Dumas says Pelicans have no intentions on trading Zion Williamson. Let's take a listen to what he had to say. and even when you say no to people, like no, we're not moving Zion, within two hours it's out that you've had conversations about trading for Zion. And so, listen, we have no intentions of doing that. We're going into the offseason looking forward to Zion coming back next year and playing great again next year. But, yeah, these phone calls come in and, you know, people ask by the player and you say no, and then two hours later, it's like, yeah, they had a conversation about playing.

19:14Shannon Sharpe:I'm going, you know, that's true, but you left out maybe the most important part, which is we said no, you know. He also later said Zion and Derrick Queen need time to gel together like Jalen Brown and Jason Tatum did. You know? You can't let – first off, I don't even know if they got any draft picks because I know the Hawks got their pick this year. The Hawks got the Pelicans pick this year. So if it's a top four, top pick, the Hawks got that. So maybe they don't have no picks. But you can't let Zion leave New Orleans, Ocho. Hell, you know ain't no free agents coming there, no top ones anyway.

19:56So you got to keep that star in place,

19:59Shannon Sharpe:and hopefully y 'all figure it out here sooner or later. You don't think they're moving? Yeah, I think they will. Anything coming from GMs or owners, you know, you take that with a grain of salt, especially when it comes to business. But what are they going to get that's going to be comparable to him? I have no idea, Joe. But holding on to somebody that, I mean, I have no idea. Joe, you would know better than me, but I'm just saying when it comes to things like this, especially with players where obviously star player, he has an injury bug, He hasn't been available, you know, for a lot of his career.

20:45Issues off the court at times, you know, here and there. I don't know. Is it worth it at this point? Still great when he's healthy? Oh, he's one of the best easily. But what we expected him to be coming out of college, he hasn't lived up to the hype. No.

21:04Shannon Sharpe:Well, I think when he does play, he gives you great production. Oh, yeah. But it's just, yeah, sometimes you don't know when he's going to play. But when he's on the floor, you get great production from him. He's strong, Joe. I think he can be way better than what he's showing, actually. I just think there's another level to, you know, his regimen that he has to add, which is, you know, obviously training harder, eating better, you know. Because if he come in into some real shape, you got to think, can't nobody guard this man already as it is right now. No. If that man made his mind up that he wanted to be a top five player in this league, top ten, I think he could easily do that.

21:54Shannon Sharpe:It'll take some work, but I think he can easily do that. I think the biggest thing I'm disappointed is that I thought he'd be a better – he should be a double-double guy. There ain't no way he shouldn't be a 20-10 guy. I agree. No way. No way in hell he shouldn't be a 20-10 guy. Right. Too athletic. Too. Too much talent. He, Joe, he is a more athletic Charles Barkley. If Charles Barkley could be a 20-10 guy, if Charles Barkley could lead the league in rebounding, the shortest guy to ever lead the league in rebounding at 6 '4", Ain't no way it helps Ion Williamson can't get 10 rebounds in the game.

22:31Shannon Sharpe:Oh, no. That's at the minimum. Yeah. Oh, no, no. I think he can definitely do that. I think the most underrated part of his game to me, Anken Ocho, is his ball handling ability. He can have the ball. Oh, man, the way he handles the ball, like, can't nobody his size are taller? They can't stay in front of him. They can't guard him. That's why I say he's like a cheat code. And if he ever make his mind up that he wanted to be one of the best to ever play this game, bro, this would be a scary sight. I agree. But you said something. You heard what he said, Ocho? If he makes his mind up, not us wanting him to make his mind up, he has to do it.

23:09Everybody wants to want it for him. He got to want it himself.

23:14Shannon Sharpe:I'd have been having me a chef. Man. I'd have had me a chef. I mean, no, hey, this is what I need to eat. I weigh this much. Hey, make it taste good. But I need you to... cooking every meal. I mean, as a professional athlete making that kind of money, you should be willing to spend a million or two million dollars on your body. Yeah. Did y 'all have a chef? When y 'all was playing, did y 'all have a chef? Sure did, right at Waffle House. Sure did. Oh, you had a chef? No, I had somebody. When I was home, when I was in Atlanta, I had this company that would prepare my food. And then my lady would cook.

24:02Shannon Sharpe:But I'm simple. Like I said, give me chicken breast, brown rice, some green beans. Man, it's bland. See, this is why I know no one can train like I could. Because I know they eating for pleasure. I eat for survival. There you go. That's why you can't beat me. You can't. a bar. They eating for pleasure, you eating for survival. Okay. I like that. So that's where I was. That's where I was at. That's where my mind set. So that's why I know they're not going to do that. They're not going to eat the same thing every day for 90 days. Right. That's hard. They're not. Yeah. they not you're not gonna go you're not gonna go two three days without eating food you're not gonna go a day and a half without drinking water I ain't telling you what I could do I'm telling you what I did do there you go so that's what I say they be talking all that be talking you can't cause you you don't you I cause I already know you're not gonna you're not gonna push yourself like that you're not gonna go to see I'll go to a place that's uncomfortable pull up a chair and get comfortable yeah yeah See, I know what it's like to get into that hurt locker.

25:21Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. They're not getting that hurt locker, Ocho. They were talking. They ain't going to get in that hurt locker. Mm-mm.

25:31Shannon Sharpe:I'm going to be here for a while. See, a man that's been to hell, he don't care about going back. Mm-mm.

25:44Shannon Sharpe:That's when you know. That's when you know. when you start to question yourself when you ask yourself why am I doing this what am I doing this for how much longer do I have where the hell am I going when is this over ask yourself though when you train ask yourself those five questions if you don't ask yourself those five questions you ain't training you working out there's a difference between the two

26:14Shannon Sharpe:I'm training because I want to be able to call on my body and know that it's been there and it'll go again. See, hey, if you haven't put your body through that, how do you know what it'll do? Right.

26:28Shannon Sharpe:But you go work out. You go do your little thing. You look good. But see, I'm training. Because when I call on my body, see, you calling your body the first quarter. Boy, I feel good. Yeah. When you call on in the fourth quarter, you still feel the same way? Got nothing in the time. when you running on fumes boy that's the difference that's a mindset that's why I knew the guys couldn't train that's why they couldn't beat me when I played because I knew they weren't doing what I was doing it's the same thing now man that's all you do when you gonna get some time off but you want you want your Man, man, hey, hey, and I tell people, when they ask, they ask me all the time, Joe and Ocho.

27:17Shannon Sharpe:Man, Potter, man, you know, you got your thing with nightcap, and you got your thing with club Shea Shea, X, Y, and Z. So how do I, I said, okay, tell me what you're trying to do. Well, I kind of want to set up like what you and Ocho got, especially when I'm doing nightcap. But I want to set up like this. I want a three-camera system. I said, well, this is my camera. That's your camera. This is the slide. It's going back and forth, X, Y, and Z. I said, bloom, bloom, bloom. I said, look, everybody, everything is different. I said, not for nightcap. I have people that only work on nightcap. Club Shay Shay people.

27:48Shannon Sharpe:Man, you got, yeah. Yes. But that's what it takes. I said, after I'm done with you, I'm going to go and get on nightcap with Ocho and Joe. And then I'm going to come back tomorrow and I'm going to tape somebody else. And then I'm going to go get on nightcap with Joe. Just got to, hey, just tape the game today. Tape yesterday. Tape the day before. Guess what? I'm going to get my black ass on a plane. I'm going to get to Vegas. I'm going to land. I'm going to go in my garage and do cardio. And guess what? I'm going to get on nightcap with you guys. And then guess what I'm going to do on Thursday?

28:19Shannon Sharpe:Guess what we're going to do Thursday, Ocho? We're going to get on a damn podcast and we're going to do WWE. Oh, yeah. And we're going to do it again on Friday. And guess what? Yeah. Basically, it's work. That's it. Yeah. It ain't no secret. It ain't no secret. It's hard day of work to be good at something. It's even harder to be great at it.

28:46Everybody wants to go to heaven, but don't nobody want to die.

28:56Shannon Sharpe:I don't see how one's possible without the other. We ain't going to do that. We ain't going to get to the Bible. We ain't going to get to the scriptures. That guy.

33:42Shannon Sharpe:Nick Wright revealed his 10 best guards of all time. He got Michael Jordan in the number one slot. He got Magic Johnson in the number two slot. And then he got Kobe Bryant, Jerry West, Isaiah Thomas, Oscar Robinson, Dwayne Wade, Shea Gilgis, Chris Paul, Bob Cousy. Cousy. Joe, do you believe those are the 10 best guards of all time? And do you like the order? Would you rearrange some things? Oh, it's in order, huh? Yes, that's the order he has. This is a pretty great list. Pretty good list, fellas.

34:27So

34:27Shannon Sharpe:ones and twos. Yep. You got points and two guards. Damn. Damn, you ain't got no AI? You got no AI? You ain't got Harden? Ain't no Steph Curry?

34:46See, I...

34:46Shannon Sharpe:When you left Steph off, I'm done. I'm done with this list. I'm saying, who you taking off? You taking off one of them old school? Hell, I'm going to take off damn everybody except the top three. Steph a two time league MVP a finals MVP a four time champion and he ain't even a top 10 guy even if you just put it even if it's for the sake of argument and that's what we do sometimes we argue we call it debate we call it sparring or whatever you want to call it the mere fact that Steph Curry isn't on this list yeah yeah that's what we doing ain't no James Harden I mean, they just ain't no J. Kidd

35:34Shannon Sharpe:I don't know Like I said, without Steph Curry I don't even want to and everybody, hey, congratulations to everybody that made it. We know Jordan, Magic and Kobe, I don't really think you I mean, hey Steph Curry said, hey hell, if I ain't a top four, if I ain't a top three who the hell is? But the mere fact this man didn't even make the list. Hey.

36:00Nick, come on now.

36:02Shannon Sharpe:Come on now. Come on now. Come on now. Hey, look, I'm going to tell you something. Shea going to be stamped in here, though. Yeah. He going to stamp himself in there for sure. As long as he stay healthy, he going to be all right. Bro, who changed the game more than one Stephen Wardell Curry? Hadn't been many. Hadn't been many, fellas. They shoot the three because everybody's shooting the three. Kids used to be kids wanting to dunk and have the tongue hanging out like Michael Jordan. Now little ass kids can barely throw the day taking the ball with one hand trying to shoot a damn three. Because they're too big, they're too small to shoot it like a normal person.

36:44Shannon Sharpe:They just chunking the ball. Yeah, yeah. I wonder what Nick used to come up with his list. Or is it just... Moonshine. Is it personal? Moonshine. Flocker. He don't know nothing about no moonshine. Okay. Well, Flocker. Walker? You talking about Walker? Flocker. No, Flocker. What's that, huh? Google it.

37:11Shannon Sharpe:Flocker. L-A-K-K-A. Flocker. Hey, the man entitled to his own opinion. Nah, you can't even get no opinion with that Steph on there. Now, if you want to, look, I would give you that. I would concede that, Joe. If you said, you know what, Steph number eight. I said that's his opinion. But to leave the man off entirely? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I agree with you on this one. I agree with you on this one. The heck of all.

37:41Shannon Sharpe:What do you say, Ocho? You said FL double C or double K, Unk? Double K.

37:52Black eye.

38:00Shannon Sharpe:Them bath salts. You know what bath salts are? Yeah, I heard about them. I remember that some dude took bath salts here in Miami and ate the man face. You remember that? What? Yeah, you remember that, Joe? Yeah. It was a while ago on South Beach. Yeah. Yeah. Now what that flock of ass you doing? You say what he used to get this list, Joe? That's it. Highly addictive synthetic stimulant. Okay. Okay. Oh, no. Damn. They got so much crazy stuff over here. And I don't want to give people the benefit of the doubt for their list. That's because that's their opinion. But for you not to have Steph Curry on one of the top.

38:42Shannon Sharpe:he didn't say one or two he said ten so in other words he found ten guards better than Steph Curry let that sink in Chad ten guards better than Steph Curry that's tough ten not three not three if you want to say you know what for Magic, Kobe and Jordan I just couldn't put him on there okay I don't agree. But okay, I would just say, Ocho and Joe, I give you that. But you found seven other guys to keep stuff off.

39:31Shannon Sharpe:That's like you like, okay, Ocho, I'm going to name ten quarterbacks, but Patrick Mahomes ain't in the top ten. The devil is alive. That's what I'm saying.

39:47Shannon Sharpe:man look here i'm just i'm sorry i'm sorry how how do you keep how do you keep a four-time champion a two-time league mvp and a finals mvp and he's are he ain't no arguing ain't no debating he's the greatest shooter we've ever seen he forgot he forgot still he forgot oh he was okay yeah he What about the editor? Whoever like, hey, bro. You need to put three. Are you sure you want to post this? Yeah. Bad, please.

40:23Shannon Sharpe:And a lot of our takes, me and Nick, we kind of see things a lot the same. But Nick, you're on your own on this one, Jack. No, sir. Y 'all agree with that? Y 'all think Steph and not a top 10 guard? Nah, he should have been on there. He should have been on there for sure. I know Chad ain't going for that.

40:49Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, I was... All right, it's time to play or fade presented by PrizePix.

41:06Shannon Sharpe:The first one is Paulo Banquero 13 and a half rebounds and assists So you can buy his rebounds and assists He'll have more than 13 and a half Damn Paulo be tripping some time Yeah, yeah Paulo was on one this year But he going to – this do or die, I'm going to give Paulo the benefit of the doubt. I'm going to say, yeah, he going to say he be over. Rebounds and assists, I think he'll be over. What you got, Ocho? You say he going to be over? Yes, sir. I mean, for the moment, for the game, the light's on tomorrow. He going to have to be. He ain't got no choice. Tyrese Maxey. More. 1.5 three-point field goals.

41:57Shannon Sharpe:More. So you'll have at least two. Yeah, yeah. Embiid ain't playing neither. That boy be out there like AI when Embiid ain't playing. All right. All right, we're going more. We're going more with Tyrese Maxey. In the Clippers-Golden State game, Benedict Matherin, at least he'll have more than 11 points. I like Matherin too, bro. I like him too. I say he'll have more I say more Yeah, because he come in gunning now He come in looking to get his shot Alright, the guy that we just mentioned that we thought he should be a top 10 guard in NBA history but Stephen Wardell Curry will have at least 26 and a half points more or less than 26 and a half Hey, is he still coming off the bench or he's starting now?

42:47Shannon Sharpe:He backstarted Yeah, they better start that man. Shoot, even if you were coming off the bench, Joe, he getting 26. You think so, Ojo? Well, he got to get to it, Joe. They don't have a chance to win the game. Without him getting at least 30, they're not winning, Joe. You got to. Because somebody got to match Kawhi. They ain't got no answer for Kawhi. Yeah, okay. All right, I guess we going more with Wardell. Yep, we're in unison. $25 to win$125. Download the app today. Use Coach Shannon to get$50 in lineups after you play your first$5 lineup. Prize picks. It's good to be right. All right, our final segment of the evening.

43:36It's time for Q and A.

43:47Shannon Sharpe:alright before we get to our super chats we've got six video voicemails from our discord let's take a listen to the first one oh what's up Ocho Iso and Steel Ocho you see it bro got them trash heat up out of here hey all right so what i need you to do is i need you to go ahead and make sure ocho don't score nothing tied all this capping he'd be doing and then make sure you beat the brakes off of him you know he still got to do the show so not too bad and then after that make sure you put that crown back on baby let's go hello hello hey i got you hey i got you partner don't you worry about i'm gonna hold it down yeah one thing one thing about it boy he asked you to do a whole lot of things you ain't got the chance hey hey hey hey he ain't asking me he ain't asking me to do nothing that ain't possible huh the hell he ain't man it don't even sit it don't even sit right on you bro you false claiming too out here nah listen i i wear my crown like t i wear his hats don't worry about it that they caught to the side huh talk to the side huh oh oh we can't let that man it can't be false claiming like that.

45:06Shannon Sharpe:But don't worry, because when me and you play, I'm taking that crown. You can't never wear it again, partner. Hey, I already told you what's going to happen to you, Joe. Hey, Joe. Hey, Joe, he was saying you a false prophet out here. Hey, Joe. Hey, Unc, I done studied the film, Unc. You done studied it? I done studied him. I know every move. I know what he's going to do when the ball in his left hand. I know what he's going to do when the ball in his right hand. I'm not even tripping. All right, let's take a listen to the second one. man what's up and still my bad Randy here again aka Boogie from Oklahoma my bad I'm here again but yo let anybody from Oklahoma tell it man KD could've went anywhere else he could've went anywhere else man just not the team that you lose to man that's like come on dog like what that's just like how Paul Pierce was talking about Ray Allen when they lost to Miami and he go join Miami.

46:07Like, not that team, dog. Not that team, man. And if you let anybody else tell it, man, from Oklahoma, KD a cupcake for leaving, bro. And it's not even that. He just left, bro. It's just, bro, not them, bro. Not them. Yeah.

46:25Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, I think that's the biggest problem that a lot of people had. I agree, Joe. Because the fact that KD and the Thunder had them boys down. Had them down. Well, they had them down. 3-1? 3-1. And they came back and won, and then you went and joined them. That's the most disheartening thing, I think, that you get from the fans and guys like himself talking. Here's our third one. Let's take a listen to what he had to say. Man, what's going on, y 'all, boy? I ain't going to lie, man. You got to talk to your partner, Stephen A. Smith about how he talking about my Hawks, man. Like, he got the whole city hot.

47:05He got the whole city hot. So get what? We're going to put it like this. We ain't done nothing he talking about. We're going to put it like this. Knicks, Twix, them boys sweeter than a pixie stick. Hawks and fire.

47:21Shannon Sharpe:Yo, that's your team. You got the Hawks winning the series? Yeah, yeah, I got the Hawks winning the series. I got the Hawks winning the series. I think it's going to be a great test for them. I'm glad that we start on the road in Madison Square. That way we can kind of gauge the intensity of this matchup and this series and how it's going to be played. Because when you get home, when you get back here in Atlanta, we're going to be waiting. And we can't squander no games away here at home. We got to win all these games here in Atlanta. You know what I mean? Yes. So if we're going to have a mishap, let it be on the road.

47:57Shannon Sharpe:let it be game one or game two but for the most part I think the squad ready we ready I like that belief Joe y 'all already bet on this game he got the hogs, you got the knicks right Ocho? yeah we're going game we've been game by game here's our fourth one let's take a listen to what he had to say what's up Ocho I'm Joe, this is my second attempt I'm Darian from Lake Charles, I'm currently at work delivering for Target. But I watch y 'all, I watch every episode of Nightcap and Club Shay Shay. I love both shows. Y 'all are my main source of athletic news, because obviously y 'all have backgrounds in sports.

48:45Shannon Sharpe:I love football and basketball. But I just wanted to ask, how do y 'all feel about how things are shaping up in the Lane Kiffin era at LSU. And Ocho, who they nation, baby, and which is on? Yeah, who they, who they, who they? Look, they gave him a King's ransom. They paid him big time. They paid him big time money, guys. They gave him, what, 20 plus million dollar budget to bring in guys. You know, they get the number one tackle in the portal from Colorado. the one thing we know about Lane Kiffin he can coach offense you can say whatever you want to say about him he jumps around I get all that stuff and there's some validity to a lot of it think about it USC, Tennessee he done been a damn near every school in the SEC but can he coach 1000 % 1000 % he got Ole Miss Ole Miss got to the college football playoffs ain't nobody saw that coming Yeah.

49:53Shannon Sharpe:Ain't nobody saw that coming. Now, they did win games without him, but he was phenomenal. He's phenomenal. And I think they're going to be phenomenal. Think about what he built Ole Miss into. LSU get way better talent, guys. No way. We ain't finna see here and say, oh, Ole Miss get the same level of talent. No, they don't. And guess what? When guys jump in the portal, when he see the way that he called off, If you're an offensive guy, quarterback, wide receiver, running back, why would you not want to go play for Lamekamp if you, you know, you unhappy with where you are? Right. Knowing how he call up plays.

50:33Shannon Sharpe:Mm-hmm. Man, please. Hey, that's wide receiver you over there, ain't it? Yeah. I mean, look at what he – look at the Coop. I mean, what did Coop have, like 117, 119 catches, 1 ,700 yards? yeah they're gonna be nasty boy here's our fifth one let's take a listen hey family it's dalia coming live from the bathroom now don't get mad i ain't just use it i know how you feel about people using the bathroom and your house in the same room and all that stuff but unc you and joe have birthdays coming up and it's right after juneteenth so we know that Juneteenth is the celebration of freedom that was granted postpartum, post-revolution, post, it was given after everybody else had freedom.

51:30Well, freedom never should have been taken away, but that's another story. So y 'all having a birthday party, y 'all planning, but y 'all ain't trying to invite Ocho and the rest of the family. So I'm six. That's what brother Ocho called me. So I want to know how me and Osho can come to this party. Because we like the party. We like food. We a good time. So we want to know why you excluding us. Bring me in and I can be your live correspondent. Thank you. Bingo. There it is.

51:58Shannon Sharpe:There it is. Hey, your behavior got to be right. You know what I mean? You got to be behaving. You got to be on your best behavior. Hey, as a matter of fact, hey, Uncle Joe, I think I should come to the party anyway because, Joe, I done paid my debt. I paid you before the game was even played, and boom. And you up a hundred. Nah, but I tell you, that's janky, Ocho. That's janky. I don't know why would you do such a thing like that. Just to show you I paid my debts. Now, you know, me and Unkmore are reasonable. You know what I mean? Yeah. You like a wild child. You know what I mean? We got to keep an eye on you, man.

52:34Shannon Sharpe:You know what I mean? What's wrong with being a wild child? We got to keep an eye on you. That's why you need me there at the party. Huh? Hell, I ain't got no famous friends, old Joe. No, I ain't put bad looking. No, I'll pay. I mean, look, I'll pay for Beyonce tickets. They were high. We were, uh, three rows we were three four rows back so yeah and but the way they had it is that she had the runway like she could just like walk down through but we three rows back I mean I'm talking about right smack down and I guarantee you there was not a person in the rows in front of us that were over the age of 15 they were going crazy going crazy I'm like and I know what I pay for the tickets.

1:00:17Shannon Sharpe:So I know your tickets cost more than my tickets. They say no for them tickets, boy. Hey, I already... My daddy gave them them tickets. I already know. I'm waiting on that text. The tickets went on sale already? I think they just released a tour date today. I don't know if that tickets are on sale yet. Hey, Joe, I know my oldest. 1:01:00Oh,

1:01:01Shannon Sharpe:Lord, have mercy. I know it's coming. I guess I gotta start saving them. I gotta start saving my penis, Joe. You know what? I gotta start saving my penis. I know she already know because her very first concert she ever went to was Usher. Yeah? Yeah, and she say, you know who opened up for him? Who that? Kanye West. Oh, that's back in the day, huh? Yeah. Christopher Evans, good evening, Nightcap. I just quit my job after a full year on staff. It was just too toxic. Name a time when a job couldn't keep you around. also it's harder to keep good workers or a good job it's hard to keep good workers yeah yeah it is it's hard to find good help it's hard man it all depends on who you hire now but I'm saying to keep them it's hard to find good help yeah

1:02:10Shannon Sharpe:that's true yeah

1:02:17Shannon Sharpe:Damn, bro. I hope you got something lined up, bro. You know, you know. It's tough out here, man. Ooh. Sam Tain, boy, you get you a nice little job, boy. You want to hold on to it. Hell, yeah. That's how we grew up. Boy, you couldn't leave no job. I think about you got something lined up. No, you better stay there. Yeah.

1:02:42Shannon Sharpe:you better stay on that job they call it a piece of job it ain't money but it says be hell out of nothing

1:02:52Shannon Sharpe:Deshaun Allen what's up guys my question is do you think long distance relationship lasts longer than your local relationship they can they can yes it gets hard to look That relationship get hard when you're used to being by yourself. Yeah. If you get used to being by yourself, a lot of things that your partner company do go get on your damn nerves. Yeah, I think it kind of depends because, you know, absence make the heart grow fonder. Yeah, yeah. Because it's different, like, if you got somebody with you every day versus if you're only seeing them maybe once a week, once every two weeks. Yeah, yeah.

1:03:33Shannon Sharpe:When you only see them every two weeks, once every week, boy, it go down. You hear me? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, it go down, yeah. Hey, Joe, you from the country, Ocho don't know nothing about this, but you know from the country, you get that old rug, you beat the dust out of it.

1:03:53Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, yeah. You had to put that rug on the fence, hang that rug off. Boom, dust fly everywhere. That's what you get when you see somebody once every two weeks.

1:04:05Shannon Sharpe:thanks thanks but yeah i think it all depends uh um um it all depends um man i saw i was seeing this girl one time guys and i'm talking about she's like okay i see and she wouldn't call she literally when like you say okay i see you saturday she would not call she's like well i I already said I'm going to see you. What we need to talk for. She got you. Yeah. Because I had never been in a situation like that. I'm thinking like, you know, we talk. I ain't say we got to talk every day. But I'm like, hey, how you doing? What's up? But you're like, nah, I don't want to talk. I just see you. I just thought that was like, nah, this ain't going to work for me.

1:04:54Shannon Sharpe:It ain't going to work for me, man. I'm like, well, damn. I had to ask, is that normal? It's like, nah, I mean, but you know, hey. Make you wonder, huh? Yeah. But look, dating is different now. I mean, Joe, I think we all grew up at a time where we used to go pick the date up. You go pick her up, go out to eat, go to the movies, go where you was going to a concert, bring her back home. Now it's Uber. Uh-oh, they get a little black car. Everybody get a black car this day. Yeah. Everybody get a what? A black car. A black truck. Oh yeah. He got a little cameraman. Where the hell is y 'all going? Everything is a moment.

1:05:44Shannon Sharpe:It's a lot different boy. It is. But yeah, it can work. Do you want it to work? There you go. Do you want the long distance relationship to work? It'll work. If you don't, It won't. If you don't want the short-distance relationship to work, it won't work either. Hey, with that long-dism, boy, you got to have some mean communication skills, though. Yes. Yes. Yeah. Yes. But anything takes work. You got to work to stay together now. It's too easy to get separated. It's too many things to occupy both of you guys' time and mind. So this, hey, all this notion, oh, I'm going to make her wait. I'm going to make him wait.

1:06:32Shannon Sharpe:Okay. Yeah. Okay, make somebody wait. Somebody else going to be blowing the doze. Guess what? Somebody else won't make him or her wait. Just saying. Zayday Phenom. Phenis got served at Dennis tonight. He was doing everything. They waiting tables, busting the tables, cooking the food, seating gas, everything. Yeah. Danny, he was cooking at night. Man. Hey, show me something. Show me. Daniel Wells, Ocho, said his Bengals lost the 05 playoff game because Carson got hurt. But really, that defense was just as bad then as it is now. And he still don't understand. That was still the best Bengals team outside of the 2021 Bengals.

1:07:24So the defense had nothing to do with it.

1:07:30Shannon Sharpe:T.S. Carwise Detail Service. My grandpa lived till he was 90. Used to tell me I'm about as useless as a screen door on a submarine. Damn. You don't believe fat be greasy. Don't worry about the mule going blind. Just load the wagon. Hey, that's a good one. That's a good one. Hey, that's the idea. Hey, don't worry about the mule going blind. You just load the wagon. If you're running the ditch, don't worry about that. The wagon loaded though. You worried about that. Man, them old people, that's how they talk though. I was going to say, speaking of submarine, hey Joe, Uncle Joe, what do you call a dog in a submarine?

1:08:13What do you call a dog in a submarine?

1:08:17Shannon Sharpe:A dog in a submarine.

1:08:25Shannon Sharpe:Well, he won't come if you call him, but. Nope, Joe, what you got? What is a dog in a submarine?

1:08:36Shannon Sharpe:Dog in a submarine. Is it a.

1:08:43Shannon Sharpe:I don't know. What? Joe, a dog in a submarine? It's a subwoofer. What?

1:08:52Shannon Sharpe:I'm so a wolf.

1:09:00Shannon Sharpe:How do you feel about developmental players being added to the WNBA? I think it's great chance for players to develop without affecting salaries. I like it. Yeah, me too. I think it's – I guess it's similar to the G League, but probably not as advanced. You know, but, hey, look, the women's game is in a great space and place. Yep. I like it. I love to see these women sign these multi-year deals. Yeah, get that money. Yeah, there are girls who I think could potentially play in the WNBA that may not be quite as ready right now. but with a developmental process, they'll be all right for sure. I like that.

1:09:50Shannon Sharpe:I like it.

1:09:54Shannon Sharpe:Which position do the Cowboys need to fill most if you were the GM and who would you take with the 12th and 20th pick? Ooh. The question is, can you get that DN? What is it, Blaney? No. From Miami? No, no. He from Texas Tech. Oh, stop. he won't be there huh no no not at 12 or 20 I would package him I would try to go get that DM from Texas Tech so you'll package them two picks and move up huh yeah yeah yeah we need we gotta get somebody on that defensive side bro I wouldn't move up you wouldn't no I 12 and 20 but I go defense on both picks though but they're gonna be some good players David Bailey David Bailey he a DM yellow the edge Ocho yeah he causing hell over there yep he had 14 and a half sacks 3 4th fumble recovery hold on that was this past year yep oh yeah

1:11:13Shannon Sharpe:Oh yeah, we need some heat coming out of that cone enough. He ran a 4.5 at 251 pounds, Joe. He ran a 4.540 with a 35-inch vertical 10-foot-9 standing broad jump. Damn. That's a big boy. 1.2, 1.6 to 10-yard split. Man, how them boys be moving like that, man, be that big? Hey.

1:11:42Shannon Sharpe:Hey, you see that the guy that went to the HBCU, you see that he from Cameroon and Nigeria Ocho, 6 '4", 306, they ran 4 '6". Oh, with the big quads? Yeah. I saw him. I NBA GOATs in no order. LeBron, Kobe, MJ, Bam Adebayo.

1:12:08Shannon Sharpe:Brandon Crowe what's your advice when you have a heartbreak from the past so hard that you don't want to give anyone else a chance no more it feels tough to find someone to start a family with even though I'm 22 ooh family it's about to be scary boy

1:12:33Shannon Sharpe:I thought you Boy, I thought you was about to say you 42 or something. You been mad. You been mad. You got the voice and all. Bad love. I've heard this man talking about 22. I ain't gonna lie. That first love, that puppy love be hard, though, Ojo. Come on, man. It do. It do. That puppy love. Hey, Ojo, I'm telling you now. I'm telling you. Hey, to stay away from him and leave it alone. Yeah, man. Joe, man, he ain't even jumped off the front porch yet. He talking about family and marriage. Come on, man. Hey, man, you don't know what that man done. I hit that Michael Sterling on him. All I need is one more chance.

1:13:08Shannon Sharpe:I'll take off my ass. I'll do what you ask. Live your life a little bit. Enjoy yourself, man. Enjoy yourself a little bit, man. See, the thing is, I'm getting the impression that Ochoa's been hurt so much, he numb to it. I have no point of point of thing. Hey, Uncle Joe. What's up? What? Nah, nah, come on. Come on, man. Hey, Joe. What's up? I ain't never been hurt, Joe. I always use common sense and logic. Ocho. Always use common sense and logic, bro. You can use common sense and logic, and it's still... Joe, it ain't never yours, Joe. It's just your turn, Joe. I get all that, Ocho. No, you don't get it, Joe.

1:13:58I'm saying when you a puppy and you just getting involved, Ocho. I ain't no no man. My granddad ain't let me do all that. Joe, no.

1:14:05Shannon Sharpe:You're not finna convince me you ain't never been hurt with no relationship. It ain't possible. By who? It ain't possible. I don't know by who. I just know you like a little girl. I'm still waiting for y 'all to tell me by who. I walk out the door quick. Yeah. No hesitation. And don't look back. 1:16:29Shannon Sharpe:Who is the most disrespected player in the NFL Excuse me Who's the most disrespected player in NFL history And why Who do you think Ocho Damn the most disrespected Yes Oh that's a great question

1:16:50Disrespectful disrespected, not given the love that they deserve. I think right now, recently,

1:17:02probably Brother Hurts, Jalen, probably Lamar. In history? No, I'm talking about right now. History-wise, I mean, shoot. I'll let you do history. I'm just trying to think those that get a get a bad rap right now. History

1:17:26is mostly the quarterbacks though too because they're judged a little different than everybody else.

1:17:37Shannon Sharpe:I think when it's all said and done, I think AB is going to be the most disrespected player in history.

1:17:45Shannon Sharpe:Antonio Brown? Yeah. You know he up for the hall this year, Ocho. Yeah. He gonna get in there though, ain't he?

1:17:56Shannon Sharpe:There's gonna be some years. I'm saying because of off course and because of off field stuff. I'm gonna say I know his numbers. Oh, his numbers are superb. His numbers are superb.

1:18:14Shannon Sharpe:He was so special. Mm. Beyond special. He had a stretch. He had a four or five year stretch. Six. That was as good if not, how many? Six. That was as good if not better than any receiver in the history of the game. I agree. That boy was a monster. Crazy work. Sam LeGrad 89. ISO tried to save Nick from engaging in malpractice. there's no way he forgot Steph for what a guy probably didn't for a guy he probably didn't even see play he didn't see Big O play he damn sure didn't see Bob Cousy play because I was older than Nick and I didn't see Bob Cousy and Big O play hell I didn't even see Big O play when he went to Cincinnati and that was after he played all those years in Cincinnati no hell I don't even know how much you saw about Isaiah play.

1:19:16Shannon Sharpe:How old is Nick? He probably caught a little bit of Isaiah. I know he ain't seen no Bob Cousy. No, and he ain't seen no Oscar Robinson either. Nah, nah. I seen Oscar play at University of Cincinnati. Man, you ain't seen no Oscar Robinson play. Man, I was there. What's that front row and watch Oscar play, man? Stop playing, man. He was at UC. Nick's 41. so Nick's 41 that means he was born in what 1980 no yeah no no he's 41 so he's born in 85 yeah

1:19:56Shannon Sharpe:Isaiah retired in like 92

1:20:03Shannon Sharpe:Isaiah was like third or fourth pick in 81 he won the championship with Indiana in 81. He got drafted. He got drafted that June or whenever they have the draft. He's born in 85. Isaiah won his first championship in 89 and 90. No, 89, no, 89, 90. Because Jordan won 91, 92, 93, 96, 97, 98.

1:20:38Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, he ain't seen her.

1:20:44Shannon Sharpe:So it was four when Isaiah won his first championship, five when he won his second championship.

1:20:59Shannon Sharpe:Nah, nah, man. Yeah, I don't know what he was thinking. He'll probably say, you know, he thought about it and he just – and it happened, you know, completely drew a blank. happens uh lmg say out any chance y 'all discuss the nfl draft soon y 'all should do a mock uh top 10 draft challenge whoever gets the most right gets the crowd 2 million we'll look into that we'll look into that uh uh ever are the goal i've been trying to show something on the FC, Ocho. What's going on? You been ducking me? He probably have. He probably been ducking you. What's FC? I don't know. I guess he's trying to soccer or something.

1:21:57Oh, you want work, boy? I'm easy to find. You know me. Don't do that. Man, don't play at me. He ducking you. Yeah, he definitely ducking because everybody know how to reach me, especially when it comes to that game.

Hey, the number seven seed will be the Portland Trailblazers as they fight their way back on the road against the Phoenix Suns and take them down 114 to 110.

1:23:27Shannon Sharpe:Unbelievable game. That was a game back and forth. Both games were sensational. And the Charlotte Hornets will take on the winner of the Orlando Magic and the Philadelphia 76ers. As LaMelo Ball had a game-winning layup late in the ballgame after Kobe White's game-time three forces overtime, they hold on to win 127-106. Babb Adebayo, who was tripped up by LaMelo Ball, ended up injuring his lower back or lower extremities, and he left the game and did not return. so the Charlotte waits the winner for the Orlando Magic and the Philadelphia 76ers for the 8th seed for the right to face the Detroit Pistons that concludes this episode of Nightcap, y 'all know who I am, I'm Unk he's Ocho, he's Iso we'll see you tomorrow night, thank you guys for joining us see that
