In short

Sports talk and off-court headlines, mixing NBA offseason speculation (Knicks, Timberwolves, Thunder, and Giannis rumors), plus NFL coaching hiring barriers for Black candidates, and a few celebrity-style segments (Dennis Schröder candy, Noland Smith arrest, and “boots/fashion” banter).

Guests (hosts/participants)

The episode features two main hosts who trade jokes and commentary (referred to as Joe and Ocho). It also includes a third voice in the conversation (Steph/“Uncle Joe” references), but the transcript doesn’t clearly identify formal guest credentials beyond their roles as sports commentators.

Key claims

  1. Stephon Marbury allegedly walked onto the Knicks court after a Jalen Brunson basket, apologized on X, and said he “got swept up” by the moment.
  2. Timberwolves “fear” Anthony Edwards could request a trade via representation (Bill Duffy), though they claim they’re not near that point; they may need another superstar and even consider moving to the Eastern Conference years later.
  3. Thunder are expected to trade picks 12, 17, and 37 to reach the top 10.
  4. Marshall Faulk argues Black coaches face systemic hiring barriers; examples include Matt Ryan (front office job without experience) and JJ Redick (Lakers job without coaching experience).
  5. Eagles player Noland Smith was arrested for speeding/reckless driving (reported 137 in a 70).

Notable examples

  • Giannis trade speculation involving Minnesota (possible packages including Rudy Gobert/Julius Randle/Jaden McDaniels and draft capital).
  • Speeding arrests among Georgia Bulldogs players.
  • Coaching hiring examples: Matt Ryan, JJ Redick, Josh McCown, Stefanski vs Raheem Morris.

2:30Shannon Sharpe:Hey, Joe, did y 'all see this last night? Stephon Marlborough actually walked onto the court after a clutch Brunson basket last night. He apologized on X. He said, I would like to issue a formal apology to every Knick fan and security guard, especially Jalen Brunson. Not because I stole the shine, because I could never. That man owned the guard. I just got swept up in the current like a plastic bag. My energy flow was out of the roof. I lost my mind and my feet carried me somewhere it didn't belong. Thank you for the fans for the positive reaction. It felt great, which is honestly concerning. Now, how about we run that back?

3:02Shannon Sharpe:Just kidding. Unless Jalen hits another one, then all bets are off.

3:06Chad Johnson:Man, you know what? I've seen this during the game, but hell, I'm going to be honest with you. I ain't know it was stiff. I've seen him come on the floor. But I ain't going to lie. I probably would have lost it too a little bit. The comeback and boys made. The Hawks did something like that.

3:18Shannon Sharpe:You sitting down there, Joe? You going up? What? Why would have been on the floor? Hey, Joe.

3:22Joe Johnson:Hey, Joe. He came on the floor. They didn't show that on a TV copy.

3:28Chad Johnson:Yeah, I seen him come out there,

3:29Joe Johnson:but I didn't know that was him. But the game was over at that point, huh?

3:34Shannon Sharpe:No, that was the tie of the game, wasn't it, Joe? Yeah, yeah, yeah. He came that far on the court?

3:41Chad Johnson:Yeah, when they made that run and came back. He was hype, boy. He was hype, man.

3:46Shannon Sharpe:Absolutely, he was.

3:47Chad Johnson:He got outside his body a little bit. It's okay, Steph. Hey, we know it happened from time to time, playboy. Because he a native.

3:53Shannon Sharpe:I mean, the dude from Coney Island, he grew up in New York. He's been a Knicks fan. Come on, man. And to see the team that you grew up rooting for and that you played for and to be able to – man, hell yeah.

4:03Chad Johnson:We can excuse that with him. Yeah, I mean, think about it, bro. I mean, that's like the Mecca of hoops for real. You know what I mean? That's why I ain't going to lie. When I be watching the Knicks play, I enjoy seeing a lot of the former guys there. They do have them back. Oh, man.

4:19Shannon Sharpe:You see all the old guys back.

4:21Chad Johnson:Man, that's a beauty, bro. That's enjoyable to watch. Because you got to understand, bro, just because these guys aren't playing don't mean that they don't still love and enjoy watching the game. They do. You know, going into that historic building. Come on, bro. And look, they know if the Knicks just so happen to make it to the finals. Oh, my goodness. Bring the National Guard, fellas. I'm talking about just if they get there. New York will win it. Oh, they'll be there, I told you that already.

4:53Joe Johnson:Hey, hey, hey.

4:54Shannon Sharpe:If the Knicks win it, well, the king of New York, that's Jalen Brunson.

4:59Chad Johnson:Man, what?

5:00Shannon Sharpe:He don't have to pay for nothing no more, huh? Jalen Brunson, Jalen Brunson gonna be up there. He gonna be up there with Derek Jeter.

5:07Chad Johnson:Yeah.

5:08Shannon Sharpe:He gonna be up there with Derek Jeter.

5:10Chad Johnson:Yeah.

5:11Shannon Sharpe:Eli.

5:13Chad Johnson:Yeah.

5:15Joe Johnson:Hey, Joe. Yeah. I just thought about something, boy. it jogged with memory and you got me thinking back too you talk about new york being the mecca of basketball i'm talking about that time i played i played on rocker park with uh with mellow

5:27Chad Johnson:yeah man what'd you do yeah had about eight points

5:32Joe Johnson:yeah man them boys out there doing all them damn tricks and man yeah yeah when was this when was this bro fast for me i'm gonna just be honest i'm gonna be honest it was moving too fast When was this? Well, yeah, that was. I got to ask Mello.

5:50Shannon Sharpe:May. It was May. Probably May. Probably June, July.

5:56Joe Johnson:I'm dead ass. I'm dead ass. I'm dead ass. This is off season. Hey, Joe, I ain't never seen that many people, man, on the park, boy.

6:05Chad Johnson:No, they don't play. They don't play by their hoops in the park. Yeah, they don't play by their New York. Yeah.

6:12Shannon Sharpe:I like to see when football teams, Joe, a lot of those guys, Ocho, they bring the guys back and the guys be alumni. I think the Broncos have something a lot of the weeks where the alumni come back. I know the Ravens are big in that because the Ravens just had a – it was the 25th anniversary. I think they just had something for the – yeah, it was the 25th anniversary of the Super Bowl. Yeah. And they gave every Bronco, every Raven player a Letterman jacket. Name, Super Bowl 35. Oh, they, yeah.

6:53Chad Johnson:They trying to.

6:54Shannon Sharpe:I know you watching because you watch all the time. Wear my jacket, man. I know you got a lot going on. Yeah. He's going to say, boy, don't you know I got other stuff going on? Yes, I know you got other stuff going on. Can I get my jacket? That's all.

7:08Chad Johnson:Hey, listen. They've been doing a pretty good job here in Atlanta, bro, trying to keep us all together, these former guys. Yeah. I enjoy it too. You know, we get to – we do functions in different events together. Yeah. Even with the Hawks, with the players. So that's always dope, you know. I think the older we get, like I say, I still love and enjoy being around the game. I still love playing the game. I still love the training, the workout regimen. And just, you know, lending the ear to these young cats, bro, and helping them out, you know, in times of need because a lot of them are being thrust into these different situations.

7:41Chad Johnson:and it's hard to handle, bro. But if you can take advice from somebody who's been there and done that and kind of ease a little bit of what you're going through, you know, I think it can help. I think it goes a long way. So I appreciate it. Yeah.

7:55Shannon Sharpe:So, yeah, we understand, Steph.

8:02Shannon Sharpe:They probably said don't let that happen again. Minnesota Timberwolves' ultimate fear is Anthony Edwards requesting a trade play Darren Wolfson. Uh, it's about satisfying Ant. The fear is that at some point does Ant, through his representation, Bill Duffy and others, signal a desire to be elsewhere. We are nowhere near that point, but the fear is there. The Timberwolves are also looking to move to the Eastern Conference. Damn. Yes, they want to be in the Eastern Conference, but that's still a few years out of, uh, even happens. So the next few years, how do they compete with the Spurs and the Thunder?

8:37Shannon Sharpe:You need another superstar. they would love to acquire Giannis. I guess they're saying like when Seattle come or the team in Vegas come, that'll be two teams. You know what I'm saying, Joe? That's the Western Conference. And so now just slide Minnesota to the Eastern Conference. I think that's kind of the avenue, and that's kind of what they're trying to do. But like they said, that's years away.

8:59Joe Johnson:Why would they even be thinking about that anyway, Joe? Why would they even be thinking about him actually wanting to ask for a trade? Right now you need to put you in. You have to take that into consideration, Ocho. Don't worry about consideration right now. Consider building what he needs around him to be able to compete in a goddamn way. I mean. That's kind of what they're saying.

9:20Chad Johnson:They're saying that they got to bring in another guy. Another superstar to compete. Yeah, who can take some of that load off a young fella. Because you know how it is, man. hey you let a guy get to you know a year left in his contract two years left in his contract basketball different for football guys can force their way out I mean yeah cause y 'all got

9:42Joe Johnson:FU money Joe it's a little different man y 'all control y 'all control no they got guaranteed money I mean that too well guaranteed mean FU

9:49Shannon Sharpe:yeah so once I get guaranteed and see that's what you know that's what you know the NFL is afraid of because money is power yeah yeah and the less you have of it, the less power you have. The more you have of it, the more power you have. We see who gets to pull the strings, X, Y, Z, over here, over there, and so forth and so on. We don't got to get into it, but we can see. And that's how it works. That's how it is. So it's going to be Timberwolves president of basketball operation Tim Conley finally broke his silence on Julius Randle backlash on what Minnesota plans to do this offseason. We know our competition is not going to sit still and nor will we.

10:32Shannon Sharpe:If we mess up, we'll mess up loudly. We're going to try to be as aggressive as possible. Conley said that the loss to the Spurs was because the team struggles as a whole, not just Randle's. We don't win because of one player, lose because of one player. I think we lost in the fashion we lost to San Antonio. They were clearly the better team and we have to look at it collectively, me included, the whole building. What can we all do better to ensure that we don't see the same results next season. Joe, you hear the previous paragraph, previous statement I made, they would love to get their hands on Giannis.

11:11Shannon Sharpe:Can they put a package together to satisfy Milwaukee with players currently? It's Julius Randle. I don't know. Terry Shannon. I don't know. Maybe, maybe you might have, you might have to give up a Jane McDaniel. Is there a package that they can put together to satisfy Milwaukee as far as players that can play right now and draft capital so we can build for the future also, but be competitive with the players that we get.

11:44Chad Johnson:Yeah, I think they got some great pieces to send to Milwaukee, but I do not want Jaden Daniels to be a part of that. You know, maybe you re-sign I.O. sign and trade. I mean, I would love for Minnesota to be able to keep him, But, hell, if we're going to go get Giannis, then you're probably going to have to give him up. You're probably going to have to give up Gobert. You're probably going to have to give up two of them bigs. Actually, I'm saying Gobert, Nasri, or Julius Renner. You're probably going to have to give up two of them.

12:14Joe Johnson:If anything, it would be Gobert. So give him the choice. Go ahead, Ocho. Go ahead. Julius Renner and Gobert. Nasri ain't going nowhere.

12:25Shannon Sharpe:He might have to. because I don't believe they want Rudy Gobert and Julius Randle.

12:31Chad Johnson:Right. But if you throw some picks in there and maybe they young boy Shannon.

12:35Shannon Sharpe:Well, how many picks they got considering they gave up five first rounds to get Rudy Gobert? So how many they got? What they going to get it with, Joe? Like them old people should say to Sal. What we going to get it with, ass and mouth?

12:46Chad Johnson:Listen, that's why I say they going to have to probably do a sign and trade with the young fella, Ayo Dasamu, you know, Because he showed a lot of great promise throughout this postseason. Now, if I'm Minnesota, I would like to keep him around, but I think he's going to demand so much money, that shit. You're going to have to get rid of him. And if you can get rid of him and go get Giannis, package up a deal to where you give up maybe him, Shannon. And like I said, you're probably going to have to give up Goldberg, Randall, if not both. Because if I'm Minnesota, I know you want him bad like that.

13:22Chad Johnson:I'm trying to squeeze in and everything up out of you.

13:24Shannon Sharpe:you mean Milwaukee Milwaukee yeah yeah I agree and that's the thing because first of all Giannis holds all the cards yeah you know why because he's going into the last year of his deal yeah and I'm not trading for it unless he's willing to sign a long-term deal because I'd be damn if I'm gonna give up what I'm gonna give up and I only got it for a year yeah yeah so he's gonna say you try to trade him somewhere he don't want to go he's just gonna tell the team I ain't signed long-term deal.

13:52Joe Johnson:You know what's funny is I mean no disrespect. I didn't really say anything because of dialogue and I love the context and what we're talking about and him being able to come to Minnesota to be able to help goddamn young boy Anthony Edwards. But as I've told y 'all, I think during the season, early in the season, that Giannis was already searching for a house down here in Miami. I just didn't want to mess up the conversation. So he will be down here in Miami and when it does happen, I told you at my sources, I'm just, you know, just for the...

14:23Chad Johnson:So, hold on. So, Miami getting him in, Ja?

14:26Joe Johnson:I'm not sure about Ja. I'm not sure about Ja's situation, but Giannis is damn near in the bag.

14:34Joe Johnson:The realtor who's looking for the house, you know what? I don't want to spill too much beans, but, you know, they house shopping and all that. So, you know, hey, Joe, you got to think about it. No, I know I play around a lot, but ain't too many times I've been wrong when it comes to predicting and telling y 'all where people are going because of the conversation I had behind closed doors.

14:55Chad Johnson:What you had? What prediction you made that was right?

14:58Joe Johnson:A lot of them. Name one. I can't even name them off the top of my head. I'm sure the chat can recall some of the stuff that I've said was going to happen. Especially like you losing every playoff series to me.

15:14Joe Johnson:That just... Come on, bro. I'm just saying that's a small sample side, Joe, as opposed to other.

15:18Chad Johnson:I had lost this series. You said, you acting like I already lost this OKC and Inspirancy series. Like, this is going to be a pretty good series.

15:27Joe Johnson:I know what is going to be one beautiful heavyweight round fight. It's going to be a good seven rounds, yo, but I'm telling you who's going to stand victorious and hold their hands up like goddamn Ali. Huh? I'm telling you who it's going to be. But again, you don't really have the kind of ball knowledge I do when it comes to basketball. So I understand.

19:24Shannon Sharpe:Check this out, guys. The reports are the Thunder are expected to try and trade their picks 12, 17, and 37 to try to move into the top 10. OKC only has one roster spot available and wouldn't be able to offer all three drafts, wouldn't be able to draft all three players. Joe, I don't know if you can see it, but right now the mock drafts have DeBonza at one, Peterson at two, Cam Boozer, Kayla Wilson, Keaton Wagler, Kingston Fleming, Darius Acuff Jr., Brandon Burries, Mikael Brown, and Nate Amit. And you see the Dominican LeBron, actually a Lindenburg.

20:12Chad Johnson:Yeah. So, hold on.

20:14Shannon Sharpe:You're saying they're going to trade their picks that they have? Because they only got one roster spot. So, they couldn't draft them all if they wanted to.

20:22Chad Johnson:Oh, so they got to get up off them. Got to. And to move up to go get what, though? I mean, they ain't going to be able to move into the top five or six.

20:34Shannon Sharpe:They want to move into the top ten.

20:35Chad Johnson:They're moving to the top 10?

20:37Shannon Sharpe:Because they got 12, 17, and 37, Joe. Damn.

20:43Chad Johnson:Yeah, it don't matter. It just seems like whoever the Thunder draft, they come fit right in seamlessly. I mean, you're playing with some great professionals who you'll be able to learn from. You look at all these guys outside of the Lindenburg cat who's 23. Hell, these dudes, young as I don't know what, 19, 18? Yeah, they got some guys that's going to be around for a while. And you want them to be able to learn and gain experience from guys who've been there before. Yeah. All right, well, we'll see. They moving to the top 10.

21:19Chad Johnson:Okay, see cheating over there.

21:21Shannon Sharpe:Hey, they said, thank you, Paul George. Thank you, Clippers. Couldn't have done it without you. I mean, Joe, that's it. That's what happened.

21:32Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah, yeah.

21:34Shannon Sharpe:You gave, not only did you give them Shea, you gave them four unprotected draft picks.

21:41Chad Johnson:And it really wouldn't be much of a problem if Paul George went to the Clippers and him and Kawhi had ended up winning one.

21:48Joe Johnson:Just one, Joe.

21:48Chad Johnson:Now, you know. It would have been all worth it. It would have been all worth it. But the fact that they never got close, I think this is why, you know, you see and hear much of the drawback. Like basically people saying it wasn't worth it. But at the time, Shea was not who he is today, fellas. No. And you never know what it's like from a player who gets traded early in their career and how it changes their whole mindset. I've been there, bro. I got traded my rookie year six months in. Made the All-Star rookie game and everything, Uncle Ocho. They traded me right after All-Star break. And that's because you create a little value for yourself.

22:23Chad Johnson:But you don't really know. You just hooping, playing, having a good time. you know, enjoying the American dream from when you was a kid, bro. Just even being in the league was like, damn, I can't even believe. I still had to pinch myself from time to time. You know what I mean? But to get traded early in your career, it does something to you, bro. It make you lock in a little more because for me, the last thing – They don't believe in you. Yeah. The last thing I ever wanted to be in the NBA was a journeyman. I ain't want to be one of those guys, played 12 years, played for eight different teams.

22:53Chad Johnson:Hell no. You know what I mean? Like, so to be able to get somewhere to stick, like you could tell, Shea took all that personal, bro. Look, hell, he done got two MVPs, won a title. I mean, he's super succeeding expectations at this point.

23:07Shannon Sharpe:He said, I wanted to be – I wanted to make sure the Thunder won the trade. They did. Oh, yeah.

23:15Chad Johnson:No question.

23:16Shannon Sharpe:They did.

23:17Chad Johnson:No question. They got a title out of the hill.

23:19Shannon Sharpe:Yes. And I don't think anybody – if you was talking about a trade, is not Kareem because clearly the Lakers won that trade.

23:27Chad Johnson:Yeah.

23:28Shannon Sharpe:The Lakers won that trade.

23:29Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah.

23:30Shannon Sharpe:You're talking about three MVPs and five titles. The Lakers won that one. I don't know what they gave up unless they gave up the Hollywood side and part of Beverly Hills. Y 'all lost. And guess what? Milwaukee about to get screwed again. Think about it. Your two best players. Your two best players. So you know what? Yeah. Yeah. Well, if I'm Milwaukee, I got to do whatever I can to retain some great,

24:02Chad Johnson:valuable pieces because ain't nobody coming inside here in the offseason. No.

24:07Shannon Sharpe:You got to be – it's like San Antonio. Now, San Antonio, I will give San Antonio credit because what did they do? They did get LaMarcus Aldridge to come. Yeah. He was the biggest free agent at the time.

24:18Chad Johnson:Yeah. I think he from Texas, though.

24:23Shannon Sharpe:so when you look at it from that standpoint but as far as like man ain't nobody going to san antonio that's why they got a draft for duncan and a manu and a parker and a hawaii and a wimby and a castle and a harper you gotta hit because you're not finna get nobody they hit you don't have that luxury like the lakers they've been hitting too hey hey but hell i tell you i tell Tell you what, they ain't gonna have no problem

24:49Chad Johnson:getting no damn talent in San Antonio now. Everybody wanna play with Wimby here. What?

24:55Shannon Sharpe:You're right. There's still no San Antonio, Joe. I know, I know. But hey, hey, hey, no state tax, Ocho. It ain't Houston.

25:10Chad Johnson:Hey, but you still, hey, hey, you get you a good bang for your buck, Ocho. For your house, huh? Yeah, yeah, I mean, I could go to Houston in the off season, but you know, I'm just saying. I'm just saying.

25:20Shannon Sharpe:I can't go to Houston. You gonna always bring it up Houston, Joe.

25:24Chad Johnson:I don't understand why y 'all so scared of Houston, man. What you mean? You been there, you know why.

25:28Shannon Sharpe:I ain't scared, I'm petrified.

25:30Chad Johnson:Man, I love Houston, bro. I know you do. I love Houston too. I'm thinking we all can go down there and hang out. Hang out who? Me, you on. What? Them folks looking, they want to see y 'all, man.

25:44Shannon Sharpe:I know they do, man. Man, me and Ochoa have such a great time. Man, you don't know how many people do. Man, when nightcap on the road, when y 'all coming back to Houston. Hey, Joe. Hey, I'm like my boy, uh, uh, uh, uh, Dub. Nell.

26:00Joe Johnson:Hey. Hey, Joe. Boy, Houston ain't for the week, boy. You hear me? That's what I'm saying.

26:07Chad Johnson:Hey, look, man. Y 'all done been around enough. Y 'all done been around the block. Y 'all done seen a little bit of everything. Look, it don't hurt you to look at the menu. You ain't got to order nothing, man.

26:17Joe Johnson:I ain't going to order nothing. But just the fact, if you can keep yourself from having to look at the menu, you'll be better off.

26:23Chad Johnson:Well, damn. I mean, you still a human. You still a man.

26:27Joe Johnson:Yeah, and that's the problem. Yeah. That's the problem. So what do I do? You keep yourself out of those environments so you don't have no issues. Come on, man. Hey, Joe, we can go to Area 29 if you want to. You know I do security up there. In Houston? Yeah.

26:47Chad Johnson:That's what I'm trying to see. But you're on Angus Steve. You know what I'm saying?

26:50Joe Johnson:When I'm in Houston, I do security at Area 29. That's like one of my jobs.

26:56Chad Johnson:Yeah, I remember you did nightcap from up there. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

27:00Joe Johnson:I got a little part time job there. Yeah. You know, kids just can't know anybody. I can't just know anybody going there and film, Joe. Yeah. You know, so I'm part of the staff. Yeah

27:13Shannon Sharpe:We got it It's got to be It's got to be In and out Land at five Land at five o 'clock We down Boom We back up First thing in the morning

27:27Shannon Sharpe:Yeah Hey Hey Hey Hey Don't even talk about No Friday No Friday No Sunday Cause that is Absolutely Hey you know

27:35Joe Johnson:You can't leave I forgot how to say And go But you can't leave Houston on Sunday You can leave any day but you can't leave on Sunday.

27:42Shannon Sharpe:Oh, yeah, because all the brunch and everything. You're right. Come on, man. Come on, man. Joe, you talking about from Friday to Monday? Yeah, yeah.

27:50Joe Johnson:That'd be nice. Yeah. Come on, man. Hey, Joe, I got some boots too, bro. I got some boots and some...

27:59Chad Johnson:I got some too, bro. I got some brown. I got these brown cowboy boots. I've been waiting to pull them out.

28:28Joe Johnson:Nah. Let me see.

28:30Chad Johnson:Hey, Joe, watch my boots, Joe. Let me see what you got going. Look, look. Get my damn hopes up high, and you and Unc ain't talking about nothing.

28:44Chad Johnson:I already know though. Houston, hey. I told you, you know, I played for the Rockets for like three months. Well, I -

28:50Shannon Sharpe:I know you, yeah, I know.

28:52Chad Johnson:Well, he had a funky good time out there. You hear me? Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. When I'm talking about, you talking about some guys who partied hard, that James Harden and that PJ Tucker. Oh, Tuck. Ooh. You don't wanna hang with them, Al. You don't wanna hang with them boys. 37:50Shannon Sharpe:If you had your own candy, what would it be called? That's a good question. If I had a signature candy. Mine will be called Jawbreaker.

38:45Shannon Sharpe:Oh, what would it be? What the hell? You gotta call it something? What you gonna call it? Ocho candy. It's gonna be something chocolate. The Ocho bar.

38:59Chad Johnson:Ocho bar? Probably has something like the, some cheeky choos. Cheeky chews.

39:17Joe Johnson:And the name got to be catchy too.

39:20Chad Johnson:So it got to be something catchy that makes sense.

39:25Joe Johnson:Oh, One Eye Ocho's.

39:29Chad Johnson:One Eye Ocho's.

39:31Joe Johnson:Well, you had some of the One Eye Ocho's yet? Yeah, them thing good.

39:37Shannon Sharpe:Look at that beard. Nah, you know what guys? I got a couple of names, but I'm gonna go on and sit this one out.

39:44Chad Johnson:Why is it? Give it one, give it one, give it one. No! You sit, Joe! Give it one, give it one! Joe, what are you doing? Man trying them boots on here. He trying to see how they look with that leopard. Come on, man.

40:02Shannon Sharpe:Lord, have mercy.

40:03Chad Johnson:The leopard throwing me off. Yo, this is Cheetah. Learn your prints.

40:10Joe Johnson:Cheetah. It's too busy with them boots, bro. They throwing me out. Hey, that's what my baby says. She say I be too busy. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You gonna have a jean shirt on, Cho? You gonna have a jean shirt on with your jeans? So you gonna be like a real cowboy. Yeah, my belt buckle and all. You know, I got a diamond belt buckle. Yeah, I'm gonna be clean now. Let me know where we going. So you got one of them big hook. It ain't that big, man. It ain't that big because I don't want it to take away from the outfit. You don't want your belt buckle too big because it's all about pieces. My statement pieces, my boots, and my belt buckle.

40:48Joe Johnson:You got to have a belt buckle. You got to have that big belt buckle. Not that big, honk. I don't want to overdo it, man, because I'm not a big person.

40:57Shannon Sharpe:And them cowboys are smaller than you. You remember how small John was? They are. They are. They are. That dude, he 135 pounds. 140 tops.

41:07Joe Johnson:I know one thing. I can't wait to ride this goddamn bull, boy.

41:13Okay, well, let me know.

41:15Shannon Sharpe:I'm going to pray for you, bro.

41:16Joe Johnson:Hey, Joe, you ain't got to pray for me. You might want to pray for the bull.

41:21Shannon Sharpe:All right. Eagle star pass rusher Nolan Smith was arrested for allegedly speeding and reckless driving for Georgia Gazette. Smith was booked in Twigs County jail after reportedly going 137 in a 70. Damn! Wait, how fast? What is it about? 137. Shit.

41:42Joe Johnson:Well, he might lose his license with that one. He got arrested because at that point it's reckless driving and endangering everyone else on the road. Anything over 100 miles an hour

41:50Shannon Sharpe:or 30 miles an hour on speed limit is considered reckless driving.

41:54Chad Johnson:Hey, what year is this for young boy? What?

41:59Shannon Sharpe:His third?

42:00Chad Johnson:third, fourth? What's up, man?

42:02Shannon Sharpe:What's up with these guys with this need for speed? Hey, guess what college you went? The Georgia Bulldogs player. Because it seems like every year there's two, three, four guys getting arrested for excessive speeding. And considering some of the things that have happened. What? I mean, you would... 137? Like I said, these kids don't fear the game.

42:21Joe Johnson:Hey, what you think you were driving, huh?

42:26Chad Johnson:Probably a scat pack. Track haul?

42:30Joe Johnson:137? You had to be in something

42:35Shannon Sharpe:where you know you... And in Twigs County. Bro, that ain't no interstate Twigs County. That's country.

42:43Chad Johnson:That's probably why he thought he could do it. Damn.

42:47Shannon Sharpe:I don't think people know how fast 137 miles an hour.

42:52Joe Johnson:Hold on. Especially if you're driving something where you can get to 137 and don't even realize how fast you got them going, too.

43:01Chad Johnson:nah bro hey you going 137 you trying to go 100 damn 37.

43:06Joe Johnson:but i'm saying joe some of them cars so powerful especially that young bulls be getting but you get the 137 don't even realize you at 137 and you look at that damn dash yeah it's only like 8 000 people that's it's in central

43:19Shannon Sharpe:georgia um man i just i i don't know what it is about these bulldogs players and this need for excessive speed, especially it's like two, three, four guys every year gets arrested for excessive speeding. And you've had an incident where someone has even lost their life and it's still not enough to deter you.

43:45Chad Johnson:Hey, hey, you know, there's some YNs out here, man, hey.

43:52Shannon Sharpe:I got that ticket. Hey, it stopped me. Once I got them tickets, talking about taking my license I need these

44:01Chad Johnson:it'll slow you down

44:02Joe Johnson:you know what's funny when I'm thinking about it and I made a comment about getting the 137 and not knowing it based on the vehicles that I've owned Joe you know Lamborghinis Ferraris that year I think 2010, 2011 I leased the Bugatti for a year Joe you can get the 137 don't even realize it Joe Especially depending on what you driving.

44:29Shannon Sharpe:Ooh, wee.

44:30Joe Johnson:I don't want to drive that. Nice, nice, Joe. You got the experience at one time, Joe.

44:37Chad Johnson:I'm good. I ain't no real need for speed. I like, now don't get me wrong, I like to be in something that can go fast, Ocho. But you ain't. But I ain't never going to test it. You know, I might, you know, scoot, scoot. I might, you know, get up through the, you know, 89 in, but. Yeah. No, sir.

44:53Joe Johnson:I don't even. I don't enjoy it at all of the foreign cars I had that that where it's about speed. I ain't got no speeding tickets because I pick and choose when to push the envelope. It's not something I did all the time. Yeah.

45:06Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, I've never gotten a speeding ticket and something that that was built for speed. Same. It's like it's, you know, Range Rover or BMW or something. Yeah. And it's at 1041 at night. It's not. Like, do you know, man, first of all, even in the broad daylight, when you go that fast, it look like everything is just solid. Even check lines look like it's solid. And the road, like, closes in.

45:32Joe Johnson:Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

45:35Shannon Sharpe:Look, I was like, man. And I remember going, and I thought, I was like, man, a bug hit my window. A bird hit my window. A blowout. It's over.

45:51Chad Johnson:I broke it all the way down. It don't take but some, yeah it don't take nothing but something small like that. No.

46:02Shannon Sharpe:Nah, I'm good. Come on fellas, be smart. Be smart.

46:07Chad Johnson:Hey, hey, hey. Because think about it. You know, in the country, you know, in down south, you go down them road, man, them big dears go to jumping out and all that. Oh yeah, it's over. It's a wrap. It's a wrap.

46:24Chad Johnson:Damn. Oh, man.

46:29Shannon Sharpe:Marshall Spock had a strong opinion on black coaches trying to land football jobs. Out of 136 teams in major college football, only 13 have a black head coach, down from 17 out of 120 in 2011. 11 of the 34 head coaches in the NCAA powerful Big Ten Southeastern Conference, 33 are white. One is black. Football is the only sport where the players struggle to come off the field and become coaches. They look like us, and if they're successful at the game playing, then you won't be successful at the game in any other capacity. Falk named some examples. Matt Ryan was hired as the Falcons president of football operation this year without any front office experience.

47:14Shannon Sharpe:No lie told. I'm just going to say, what is Matt Ryan can be a GM? Why do no other players get to go through that jump through hoops to be a GM? J.J. Redick has never had coaching experience and get the Lakers job. Could Marshall Falk get the Rams job? Hell no. What is that? Falk noted that the Texans consider hiring Josh McCown as head coach in 2022 despite the lack of coaching experience. He also noted how Stefanski was just hired as the head coach with a worse record than the last coach that they fired, Raheem Morris.

47:54Shannon Sharpe:Stefanski went 5-12. Raheem went 8-9. He ain't lie. Nope. Y 'all remember Matt Millen was an analyst. He got the GM job at the Lions. we're not doing ain't no sense we're not getting those jobs we're not getting those jobs we gotta have like 15 years of experience and you got to work you got to be a scout you got to be an assistant assistant to the assistant of the GM and then you got to work your way through we're not getting that everything that you said was absolutely right

48:31Joe Johnson:it's been that way for a very long time we continue to fight that good fight for us to be afforded those positions you know, to be leaders of men, but they just don't like us in said positions. They just don't. They just don't. They want people that look like them. They want people more like-minded like them. And that's the way it's always been. It's been that way. Now, there have been certain situations where coaches have been fortunate and done well. They've done well in those positions and been able to hold them for a very long time. I mean, outside of that, it is what it is. You know, it's not the elephant in the room.

49:03Joe Johnson:And sometimes, you know. Shoot.

49:07Chad Johnson:Man, damn, it happened in basketball too here.

49:10Joe Johnson:Y 'all get way more opportunities than we do in football.

49:13Chad Johnson:Well, I'm saying my guy, my guy Steve Nash, got the head coaching job coaching Kyrie and damn KD.

49:21Shannon Sharpe:Oh, no, you're not getting no job like that. You see what I'm saying? That's what I'm saying. You're not getting no job like that. Oh, Joe, you know what jobs we get. You get the Cardinals. You get the Jets.

49:30Joe Johnson:Yeah, you get the teams where you're going to last maybe two, maybe three years, if that. You ain't getting no good job.

49:37Shannon Sharpe:You get one situation where you got a Mike Tomlin that got the Pittsburgh Steelers. But more times than not, you got to go to the Jets. You got to go to the Cardinals. You got to go to a team. Now, they ain't rebuilt. They ain't got no quarterback. You don't got no quarterback. And then guess what? The moment you get fired, they go get a quarterback.

49:55Chad Johnson:Yeah. Listen, you talk about J.J. ready for the Lakers. Hell, look at Steve Kerr. Look what he inherited and what they done for him. Yeah. Come on.

50:07Shannon Sharpe:We're not doing no job like that. No. And you just, you accept it. You know what it is. We're not. They say, look, they'll do everything. Like, oh, yeah, he's so. But we wanted someone with some experience. And then you turn around and do what? Hire somebody that ain't got no experience. This is the number one that they do us, Joe, in football. We want someone that have actually called the plays. And then turn around and hire somebody that didn't call plays. on the very staff that you said this guy didn't call plays, but you won't give him a job, but you gave the guy right there.

50:41Chad Johnson:Right.

50:42Shannon Sharpe:Everybody that's under Andy Reddick ain't called no plays. They don't call plays for Sean McVay either. Sean McVay called the plays. Kyle Shanahan called the plays. Damn. Now go back and look at the tree and look at all them guys that got jobs.

51:00Chad Johnson:Come on, man.

51:03Shannon Sharpe:and now you know the government done put pressure on them they done did away with dei ain't no more rooney rule the rooney rule was just all fluff it was it it meant well they meant well with the rooney rule i know mr rooney uh that instituted this i understand him bill nunn really built that steelers organization with the drafting of the players all those players he drafted uh and so i understand in theory what he was trying to do and it's not saying just hire somebody that because they're black because the fact of the matter is I don't even think you'd be giving them a situation and don't use me as no token Joe Ocho you remember when the Cowboys brought Marvin Lewis in there yeah and you know I know Marvin before you did but you know Marvin you know damn well Marvin wasn't getting no damn job and they bring black guys in just to say we did do it though that is something

51:57Joe Johnson:to get us to shut the hell up here damn y 'all happy now that's the one it's performative all performative

52:08Shannon Sharpe:it is it's a shame too though Joe I mean I wish we it's a shame bro but it is what it is but I get it you hire people that you know you really do

52:20Joe Johnson:that's all it comes down to

52:23Shannon Sharpe:because now people lie so much on it man, they done got this ChatGPT and they got these resumes, Joe and Ocho so impeccable. Oh, I could do what it is. ChatGPT, what is this role entitled and what do I need to see on my resume?

52:40Chad Johnson:Right, right.

52:42Shannon Sharpe:They hand it to me. God almighty! So you was a producer at 60 minutes? And 48 hours? And you worked on ESPN? Oh my goodness. Can't miss.

52:58Chad Johnson:Hey, who the New Orleans Pelicans hired?

53:01Shannon Sharpe:Oh, the guy from what you call him? The guy from Jamal Mosley. Did they? Yeah, they did. I wonder why they did that. What you mean why they did that? I'm saying he... You about why Orlando fired him?

53:16Chad Johnson:Well, I know why they kind of fired him. It looked like they wanted to get rid of him. But what I'm saying is, if you got a guy... meaning because I know Rondo was up for the job. I know that they was talking about bringing Rondo in. I'm saying, damn, man, you got to take some chances on some of these guys. I ain't saying Moseley didn't deserve a job. But, damn, you got a young team who I know they know who the hell Rondo is. They'll respect him. You can't give him a shot. That's all I'm saying, Uncle Joe.

53:49Joe Johnson:I agree, Joe. Put your name in the hat, man, to be the Hawks coach. I don't –

53:53Chad Johnson:Now, the Hawks got a good coach in Quinn Snyder. He's a good coach. He's a good coach. You play with Quinn in Utah, right, Joe? Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's my guy. That's my guy.

54:01Joe Johnson:They tell him to put you on the roster, though. Put me on the roster?

54:05Chad Johnson:Damn, if I get signed by the Hawks to be an assistant coach, I ain't going to sit on here and talk no junk with y 'all.

54:11Joe Johnson:But we don't come out until late at night.

54:16Joe Johnson:He play late at night, Ocho. I mean, man, you know, you know, the Hawks play what? 730? Joe will be home by 11 o 'clock before we get on.

54:26Chad Johnson:Ocho, we got a road game. You play at home, travel. I ain't - Yo, just take your laptop and camera. I set you up. Ocho, y 'all gonna be in the store that we on the damn plane. What you want, man?

54:44Joe Johnson:No, I feel good, bro. I feel good. Eddie got them boots comfortable, boy.

54:52Chad Johnson:He ready, huh? He ready. Oh, is he? Yeah, he ready. You know what he ready for? Man.

55:00Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, sit down. I'm sitting down. Now it's time for our final segment of the evening. It's time for Q and A. Ocho, on some more. What'd I do? 58:55Joe Johnson:Hey, what's up Ocho, Iso, Onk. Man, I'm sitting here watching the Spurs game hoping these Spurs can mount this comeback. But if you guys don't mind, could you give four individuals in my household a birthday shout out? I don't know how I end up like this, but I do know how I end up like this. if you don't mind giving Ari Money and Junior a belated birthday wish and my wife's birthday is coming up on the 26th her name is Tinasha if you don't mind giving her a birthday shout out as well thank you

59:41Shannon Sharpe:Ari Money Junior and Tinasha so Ari Money and Junior happy birthday and Tinasha I guess it was her birthday. Well, those are the lady birthdays. I think Tinasha's birthday is today or coming up. To you. So Ari Money Jr., Tinasha, happy birthday. And congratulations, big fellow, on the nuptials. Happy birthday. Zay DeFenom, ref let OKC get away with too much guarding Wemby, especially Caruso and him. And Hartenstein should have been fouled out by halftime. Hold up, guys. We know that is a big thing. How are they going to call the game? Are they going to let them play, or are they going to call it?

1:00:28Shannon Sharpe:Now, normally they let them play a little more in the postseason, but sometimes they can go overboard. So we'll see. I think game three, I think on Friday night, Joe, we'll see. And we're going to find out early on how they're going to call the game.

1:00:45Joe Johnson:Uncle Joe, this is not fair. This is not fair for players that play for the Thunder, right? You look at the discrepancy and height and length that Wimby brings to the game. How do you stop him? They have to allow them players to do maybe a little bit more than they would other players that play the five or the goddamn four because of how big he is. So they got to allow him to play a little bit more aggressive, to tug a little bit more.

1:01:07Shannon Sharpe:No, you can't. Well, let me ask you a question. Should they be allowed to hold Tyreek because he's faster? Should they be allowed to hold him? Damn. He's faster than everybody else. Ain't nobody else on the field. Ain't nobody running like – I mean, you got to go back to have Olympic sprinters, bullet bomb, Hayes, and guys like that that can run like that. No, you can't do that.

1:01:26Chad Johnson:Yeah.

1:01:26Shannon Sharpe:And they did it with Shaq. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because Shaq was so big. No, you can't do that.

1:01:31Chad Johnson:Yeah. I think for the Thunder, they just got to continue to do their work early. Meaning, like, you know, before he gets inside a three-point line, you want to bump and grind all the way until you get down. Now, listen, what they're going to be looking for is the holding and the grabbing, the little stuff that they do. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They look clutching. Like, if one of my teammates driving and I hold Wimby just a little, just a half a second, they're going to be looking for that type of stuff. Yes.

1:02:00Shannon Sharpe:Hardenstein grabbed a man here, Joe. Yeah, yeah. How is that not a foul? Actually, that's a flagrant foul because that's not a basketball play.

1:02:09Chad Johnson:You said they grabbed what?

1:02:10Shannon Sharpe:He grabbed Castle's hair.

1:02:15Chad Johnson:Hey, Peter Ball said try it out, man. You hear me? Hey, Ocho, we trying to go to the finals. Hey, it's going to be some discrepancies on some of these plays, bro. It's part of.

1:02:27Shannon Sharpe:That Malcolm X, by any means necessary. People are saying the Spurs don't need Fox. They do, though. Castle ain't ready to be the primary ball handler. And why? Hold on. Why Hardenstein snatch Castle here like that? Yeah.

1:02:40Chad Johnson:Hey, the way that boy poked that thing on Hardenstein here. Hey. Well, you got bunnies. Boy, it didn't even look like it. Hey, I agree, though. Right now, he's really not ready to be the lead guard. But when you look at it, I like him at the two. Being a two-way player, I like Harper as the lead guard if Fox ain't in there. You know what I mean? Hey, your camera crooked. There you go. I like Harper. I like Harper at the lead guard versus Castle. But when Fox comes back, he'll take a lot of them ball. You put back to his normal spot. Castle, yeah.

1:03:23Shannon Sharpe:Yes.

1:03:23Chad Johnson:To where he's a defender, obviously he's still going to be able to attack. He's just not going to have the ball in his hand damn near every position.

1:03:31Shannon Sharpe:Takes them in turnovers away.

1:03:34Chad Johnson:Yeah.

1:03:34Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Brandon Martinez says, you can't even touch OKC without the refs calling it. It's all good. Get the win. It might be one and the only time let Spurs go. So, look, I think how they call the game early is going to really determine the outcome. Because if you're going to let them play, this is OKC style.

1:03:56Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You got to keep your bigs out of foul trouble early. See, the thing is, if any team, the Spurs or OKC, any of their bigs getting fouled, like if Wimby catch two within six minutes of the first quarter, hell, they in trouble. Same thing with OKC. Hardenstein, a check, catch two fouls early in that first quarter, it just takes so much of your aggressiveness away that you're able to get pretty much whatever you want. You know what I mean?

1:04:25Shannon Sharpe:But the problem is that if Hardenstein gets in trouble, you love to have him, but you're not looking him for the score. And Cornette hasn't been able to hold up his end of the deal like he has in the regular season. See, the problem is that when Wimby got winded and went to the bench, Cornette hasn't given him anything. Especially like he did in the previous series.

1:04:46Chad Johnson:Yeah, nah.

1:04:47Shannon Sharpe:That's why. Because they're so much more dependent on Wemby's points than they are Hartenstein points. Because Hartenstein, basically Hartenstein and Chet, it's a two for one. When it's all said and done, can we neutralize him as far as points and rebounds? Can we be close to him in points and rebounds? Because one guy ain't going to do it. But we got two bigs. Damn. That's tough, bro.

1:05:17Chad Johnson:That's tough.

1:05:20Shannon Sharpe:If I took a shot every time you said GD, I'm drunk right now.

1:05:25Joe Johnson:Goddamn. Hey, I don't think people understand. It's not the man upstairs in GOT.

1:05:32Shannon Sharpe:Right.

1:05:33Joe Johnson:Yeah. And they talk about that. But I curse more than I say goddamn. and it's not G it's not the man upstairs it's G-O-T yeah that's always been part of my vocabulary

1:05:44Chad Johnson:you just passionate and them cuss words kind of bring a little more emphasis on what people

1:05:50Joe Johnson:have to understand like if you cook food right you add seasoning to the food for flavor that's all cursing is cursing is a sentence enhancer that's merely that's all it is and I have an extensive vocabulary but this ain't the place to use it this ain't the place to use it This is for me to be free. That's why this is our show. So I can express myself the way I talk when I'm out there in the streets. You see, I ain't say streets. I say a squeeze. You see what I mean? Now, when I'm on linear television, then I'll change and be a little bit more professional in what I say. And the way I pronounce it.

1:06:26Joe Johnson:But on here, I just want to be Ocho. Yeah.

1:06:29Shannon Sharpe:Come on, y 'all. Damn. Y 'all can't give OKC credit for those turnovers. This is like, this is not the T-Wolves. Yes, we give them credit. But look, some of those are great. Some of those are just careless turnovers, bro.

1:06:43Chad Johnson:Yeah.

1:06:43Shannon Sharpe:Two things can be true. Yes, the Thunder are a tremendous defensive team. But some of those are just careless.

1:06:52Chad Johnson:Yeah, by forcing the issue. Whether it's Castle just driving in there on three people and he, you know, loses control of the ball.

1:06:59Shannon Sharpe:Right, or he tried to throw a pass. He done got up in there and then got caught.

1:07:03Chad Johnson:Yeah, there you go. With nowhere to go. Yeah, yeah.

1:07:06Joe Johnson:Hey, Joe, he'd be a little out of control, too. Like, he moving too fast.

1:07:10Chad Johnson:But it's okay, Ocho, because listen, guess what? I'd rather have to pull the reins back a little bit versus having to push your ass out there and be like, hey, I need you to be more aggressive. You know what I mean? Right.

1:07:21Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Hartenstein pulling and yanking castle by his head was dirty. The fact that it wasn't called is ridiculous. I agree. They're going to be looking. See, the problem is when you do stuff like that and the officials in the game field, they miss it, the other officials are going to be heightened. Their sense is going to be up. They're not going to let you get away with anything.

1:07:42Chad Johnson:Nope.

1:07:43Shannon Sharpe:So you're going to have to be on your best behavior.

1:07:45Chad Johnson:And they're going to be watching closely.

1:07:46Shannon Sharpe:They're going to be watching closely. And so the ticket stack, come on, ref, that ain't no foul. You're right. It wasn't.

1:07:51Chad Johnson:Yeah.

1:07:53Shannon Sharpe:Normally we wouldn't have called it, but you got away with it last time. It's my birthday today. I turned 30. Can I please get a nightcap fam to give me a shout out, please? And it would mean the world to me. Anthony Guerrero, it's his 30th birthday. No more 20s. Happy birthday, Ant. I remember them days, but when I turned 30, huh? Yep. Yeah, I remember that time too, boy. That was good too. I'm gonna tell you what I was doing, boy. Hey, 30? Yeah, marry y 'all Barkey. Remember it like it was yesterday.

1:08:20Chad Johnson:Hey, you threw that thing apart, huh?

1:08:23Shannon Sharpe:No, dude. Yeah, yeah. Hey. Yeah. It was for two people invited. That's what I'm talking about. What a tie, what a tie. Oh, man. But Anthony, happy 30th birthday, man. Enjoy. Enjoy this special day. TS Car Watch Detail Service. Panel, who y 'all picking? Basha Odom, Michael Redd, or Tayshaun Prince? Ooh.

1:08:51Chad Johnson:Hold on, who was the first one? Bosh.

1:08:54Shannon Sharpe:Chris Bosh versus Lamar Odom.

1:08:57Chad Johnson:And Michael Redd or Tayshaun Prince? Tayshaun Prince. Hey, Tayshaun. Out of the four or them two matchups? I guess they're two matchups. Hey, Tayshaun was nice at Detroit, boy. Bosh, Lamar, Odom, damn. Because they're totally different players. They are, bro.

1:09:15Shannon Sharpe:Because Lamar go more of a point, forward, guard. Yeah. Bosh is the prototypical post player, played with his back, worked on it, had three-point range, could put the ball on the floor.

1:09:28Chad Johnson:Yes, sir.

1:09:30Shannon Sharpe:They're totally different players. Totally, totally different players. Michael Redd is mainly a score. Tayshaun Prince is more of a defender. What are you looking for? What team are they on, Joe? Because that's going to tell you who I'm going to pick.

1:09:44Chad Johnson:I don't know. I'm going to keep it real with you. I like all them guys. But if I'm going with Bosh and Lamar Odom, Lamar Odom, and I love Bosh, but I'm going L.O. Because he can do so many different things. He can handle it. He can play the point. He can post up. He unselfish. He can make a shot. He can score. He can make guys around him better. I remember when Lamar Odom first came. I remember when he was playing at Rhode Island in college. I do, too. At 6 '9", 6 '10", Arcan Ocho, handling the rock like that. I'm like, damn, who's this big, tall, and he left-handed? Well, Mike is standing, too.

1:10:19Chad Johnson:Out of Michael Redd and Tayshaun Prince. Hell, they all left-handed. Michael Redd, left-handed, Tayshaun Prince. I think that's why he did it.

1:10:31Chad Johnson:Mike was a smooth scorer, bro. He could score the ball. But that damn Tayshaun, he did everything. He did every damn thing. Everything.

1:10:41Shannon Sharpe:For me, Joe, I think it has to be the situation, the team. What does the team need? What type of team do I have?

1:10:48Chad Johnson:Yeah. Because like you said, if I got a team that's established. Yeah.

1:11:01Shannon Sharpe:I'm probably going to take Chris Bosh.

1:11:03Chad Johnson:Yeah.

1:11:04Shannon Sharpe:Because I'm not going to need him to do as much.

1:11:07Chad Johnson:Yeah.

1:11:08Shannon Sharpe:Team that's not as established, that I'm going to need somebody to be able to handle the ball, can play off the ball. Like you said, he can post up.

1:11:15Chad Johnson:Yeah.

1:11:16Shannon Sharpe:I'll probably take O. Now, for me, I'm going to take Tayshaun Prince because I'm going to take his defense. But again, what type of team do I need? If I got an established team like he went to with Detroit, Yeah. He was perfect.

1:11:29Chad Johnson:Yeah.

1:11:30Shannon Sharpe:Michael Red went to a situation where they needed scoring.

1:11:32Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah.

1:11:33Shannon Sharpe:Michael Red wouldn't have fit that well. I don't know if Michael Red would have fit as well with Detroit as Tayshaun Prince did.

1:11:39Chad Johnson:Right. Absolutely. You're absolutely right. Tayshaun took all the defensive assignments. Yeah.

1:11:45Shannon Sharpe:Because now you got Tayshaun and you got Big Ben.

1:11:48Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah.

1:11:52Shannon Sharpe:My boy Ocho Yana Erna drinking Red Bull and call back at the same time is diabolical. We still love you, twin. What's up, Ocho Aiso? Best podcast of the game, Ocho. Try out Nana Morrison's Soul Food and Cigar Box when you come to Cary, North Carolina. That's Nana's Morrison's Soul Food and the Cigar Box.

1:12:11Joe Johnson:Nana Morrison's. Matter of fact, I went to Nana Morrison's last time. It's in a big plaza, and it's like buffet style. Like buffet style, yeah. Okay, oh, okay. I remember, I remember. I like buffet. Nana Morrison's. Yeah. Yeah. Nana Morrison's.

1:12:25Shannon Sharpe:Joe, did y 'all have Morrison's? Y 'all remember Morrison's and S &S cafeteria? Did y 'all have those buffet places?

1:12:32Chad Johnson:No, we just had like the Golden Corrals and - Joe? The Bonanza. Y 'all remember Bonanza and all that? Oh yeah, the TV show?

1:12:39Shannon Sharpe:Oh, you talking about the Western? You talking about the TV show? You talking about the Western with Louis Joe? It's Ben Cartwright, Hoss?

1:12:48Chad Johnson:I'm talking about, it's a buffet style, Bonanza. Joe ain't never heard of that.

1:12:53Joe Johnson:Hey, Joe, you ever heard of Piccadilly's?

1:12:56Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, Picadilly's, that's in that scafeteria, Morrison's, yeah.

1:13:00Chad Johnson:Man, I ain't been to a buffet in a while.

1:13:03Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, yeah, yeah. People too nasty. Man, they got kids.

1:13:05Joe Johnson:Hey, Joe, you ain't been to Golden Corral, got them Hawaiian rolls, boy. That's where I used to go when I was young. My mama used to take me there all the time. What, them Hawaiian rolls at Golden Corral, Unk? Boy, I get by whole shit to them things.

1:13:21Chad Johnson:Hey, Unk, Unk, the kids be in there playing in the food

1:13:23Shannon Sharpe:and all that on the man. You see them now. They sit up there. Go ahead and get your plate. Now, you know damn well. Ain't no reason no five, six-year-old need to be up in the buffet plate. They sticking their hands and grabbing, cooking. Nah, I'm good, cuz. I'm good. I'm sorry. Hey, Chad, I'm sorry, but nah, I'm good. They done raised up all the ice cream. They done made a cone. They got the ice cream this hot. They got a cone this big.

1:13:48Shannon Sharpe:Jay Wilson said, can we talk about how Hardenstein was holding the whole game. Jeez. Bro,

1:13:56Chad Johnson:they not going to call everything. Listen, man, I'm telling y 'all. If I'm in that damn position, I'm going to do a little holding, too. I don't know what else y 'all want the man to do. The man, he can't, hey, hey. He got to be physical. He got to hold and grab a little bit. Just to offset the game, bro. You got to impede that man. I'm going to do it until they call it.

1:14:17Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, as a defender, what they tell you to do? hold until they call it. And they're not going to call it every play. They show it.

1:14:24Joe Johnson:I mean, that's what I was saying earlier. The man is different. They don't have to face anyone like him. Because he's so different, referees are going to hold a whistle a little bit more as opposed because of who he is. They ain't calling everything.

1:14:42Shannon Sharpe:You're right. It's showtime. Peg last night, thanks to the Vice of Ocho, love the guy's show.

1:14:49Joe Johnson:Huh? What? Wait, who? You got a pug. What do you say?

1:14:53Shannon Sharpe:He said he got pegged thanks to you. Hey, boy.

1:14:56Joe Johnson:Hey, OK. OK. There you go, boy. There you go. There you go. Listen. Come on, Ocho.

1:15:02Shannon Sharpe:I'll have took that one. Don't be in door. I'll have took that one to my grave, Joe.

1:15:07Joe Johnson:Hey, boy. Hey, listen. You and your woman, man, y 'all enjoy that, man. You know, it's all about exploring, man. It's all about exploring, boy.

1:15:15Shannon Sharpe:All right? Him. Ocho. I'm going to stay lost then.

1:15:21Chad Johnson:Yeah. Ojo, you don't mind getting paid? For me?

1:15:23Joe Johnson:I ain't never did that. I was just suggesting it to y 'all. The man said he took your advice. You heard me?

1:15:31Chad Johnson:All right. OK.

1:15:32Joe Johnson:I was just suggesting it to y 'all, Joe.

1:15:35Chad Johnson:What you mean, y 'all?

1:15:36Shannon Sharpe:You on. You better have no outpatient. I don't pay you no attention. You're right. Floaters neutralize shot blockers. Everyone's got to bring back the floaters for Wemby. They do. Yeah, yeah. You better have one. The Spurs just need to slow down when the game is close. Hartenstein can't be pulling Harry. The Spurs are in the catbird seat. I do think the Spurs are going to win game three. They in the driver's seat.

1:16:01Chad Johnson:They got home court advantage. They took home court advantage, but I don't know, man.

1:16:08Shannon Sharpe:What's up, Big Three? If y 'all had to choose between Wim and SGA, who y 'all's choosing to start a franchise?

1:16:12Joe Johnson:You know they're going to pick Wim, baby. Come on. Come on. Come on.

1:16:15Chad Johnson:Come on, bro.

1:16:16Joe Johnson:We've seen a few SGA's throughout NBA history, but we ain't never seen no damn women.

1:16:21Shannon Sharpe:We ain't never seen dope. Damn. Watching Unk go from Team Braun to Team Alien in real time. Yep. He about to make me cup. You know, I was like, he about to make me cup. Because I was, you know, I was a Yoke-itch and Luka. Man. I don't know.

1:16:46Shannon Sharpe:ain't seen nothing like Wimby man that dude that man good god it ain't even fair I agree with y 'all guys it ain't fair he shouldn't be able to do that but he can can you give some encouragement to my alma mater Central High School competes in the women's flag football playoffs yeah Central High good luck in the flag football I don't know what round this is, but it does not matter. All you need to do is win and advance. So, Team Nightcap, want to wish you the best of luck. Go out there, give it your all, and let's see what happens.

1:17:24Joe Johnson:Hey, I wonder if that's Miami Central down here in Miami, or that's somewhere else. Don't start me to lie. I ain't know that. That must be a women's flag, too, huh?

1:17:38Shannon Sharpe:Hold on, let me see. K, can you give some encouragement to my alma mater, Central High High School, that competes in Women's flag football. Yeah, I think it's women. Damn, Joe disappeared. Joe, where you at, Joe? Hey, he - See? All that talking. Oh, Joe, you remember all that talking?

1:17:54Joe Johnson:Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey, his camera went dead. I know that's what it was. Oh, hell, he ain't pay the light bill, one or the other.

1:18:04Shannon Sharpe:One of the two. Hey, Joe, there you go. Lay off basketball at his best, Shea Show. Huh? What the hell you got going on, Joe? What the hell you mean? What happened?

1:18:14Chad Johnson:I know you boy, huh? Y 'all trying to get rid of me?

1:18:20Shannon Sharpe:That ain't got nothing to do with Ocho not talking. I said, Joe, what the hell happened? I said, Ocho, what the hell happened to Joe?

1:18:25Chad Johnson:What happened?

1:18:25Joe Johnson:My screen jay went blank, bro. Yeah, so you're okay. Ocho say you got tired of talking. What kind of camera you got, Joe? You got that Sony too?

1:18:33Chad Johnson:No, I ain't got. You talking about like, y 'all got a real Sony camera, right?

1:18:37Joe Johnson:Yeah, I got a real Sony camera. So mine just cut off sometime out the blue. Oh, no, no.

1:18:43Chad Johnson:I gotta get mine. I gotta get mine. Mine only been good. Damn.

1:18:51Chad Johnson:Damn. What'd I miss, bro? What'd I miss? I miss something?

1:18:56Joe Johnson:No, not really. You was only gone for two seconds.

1:19:00Chad Johnson:That thing just went blank.

1:19:02Joe Johnson:Yeah. That's how it's gonna look when I hit you.

1:19:08Chad Johnson:Hey, don't laugh at him, because I promise I'm gonna send his ass back to you crying. He gonna be crying.

1:19:16Shannon Sharpe:Playoff basketball at his best. Shea Show White, he's a superstar. Spurs need to cut down on the turnovers. They sure need to fix back. Fox back on game three. I think he comes back on game three. I think they take care of the basketball.

1:19:29Chad Johnson:I don't think game three gonna be as easy as you think. I think due to I don't know if Harper gonna be able to play. I think obviously Fox gonna come back but damn, we gotta see how he gonna be when he come back off that anchor, Ocho. You know, there ain't no guarantee he's going to come back and he's going to be 100. You know, he's probably going to come back because maybe if Harper is out, he probably feel like he got to come back. You know what I mean? Right.

1:19:57Shannon Sharpe:I got to do it. I'm sorry. Sonny Michelle, K Michelle, that's my Michelle, Nixon 5. Love y 'all, fellas. Yeah, yeah. That was, hey, it might be Nixon 4. Hey, the Cavs got to get this thing back. I know they're hard.

1:20:13Chad Johnson:I'm going to be honest with you. It's hard for me to see where they can bounce back from that loss, bro.

1:20:20Joe Johnson:That's crazy.

1:20:22Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

1:20:28Shannon Sharpe:Who's the most overrated team? Who's the most overrated NBA and NFL team in history?

1:20:35Joe Johnson:Overrated? I mean, Joe team?

1:20:39Chad Johnson:What do you mean? You need to chill. My cowboy?

1:20:43Joe Johnson:I ain't say no name. You mentioned it.

1:20:46Chad Johnson:You need to stop it, bro. For real. You need to chill.

1:20:48Joe Johnson:I ain't even say no name, man. You mentioned it. So what did they tell you?

1:20:51Chad Johnson:You need to chill. You said my team. Yeah. I ain't got but one team in the NFL.

1:20:56Joe Johnson:Oh, I thought the Falcons was your team.

1:20:58Chad Johnson:Nah, I go to the games, though. But I ain't. Like, I ain't no, you know. Yeah.

1:21:05Joe Johnson:Okay, my bad.

1:21:07Shannon Sharpe:Tell me he thought the Falcons was my team. Man, man, it's the Ocho whistling the braille.

1:21:15Joe Johnson:Hey, hey, I got a question. Like, all jokes aside, what's wrong with my whistle? I mean, I whistle normal. Like, I don't know how to do the one like this. We didn't hear no whistle.

1:21:26Shannon Sharpe:We didn't hear nothing.

1:21:27Joe Johnson:You hear that? What are you talking about? No, we don't.

1:21:33Chad Johnson:Nothing, bro. No.

1:21:36Joe Johnson:No? Hey, y 'all, hey, y 'all. Hey, that doesn't matter. I'm sorry, Ocho. Hey, with my baby. I know my baby watching. Baby, am I whistling? Because they trolling, man. Hey, Joe, you know how to do that whistle?

1:21:50Chad Johnson:Uh-uh. I don't know how to do that one.

1:21:52Joe Johnson:Uncle, you know how to do the whistle where they put the two pinkies in their mouth?

1:21:56Chad Johnson:No, I can't do that.

1:21:56Joe Johnson:That's loud as hell, man. Hey, hey.

1:21:58Chad Johnson:Nolan Richardson used to do that. My college coach, he used to do that. Yeah. Yeah. Trying to get your damn attention.

1:22:19Shannon Sharpe:Man, hold on. You see this? Carter Bryant had to go to the public restroom to admit game. He had the bubble guts? I don't know what he had, but they got him coming out of the public restroom.

1:22:33Chad Johnson:You know, hey, he 20 years old. he's still a little nasty. He'll know no better.

1:22:40Shannon Sharpe:You do realize, Sharp, Ocho can only say GD12 100 times a night. Kinko and still Kink Iso, hardest one-on-one matchup in your career.

1:22:50Chad Johnson:The hardest one-on-one matchup in my career? Yes. I always give credit to guys like Rip Hamilton and Ray Allen for all the running that they do. But border guard Kobe and Braun and Melo and D-Wade, guys who can break the play at any point and go and score, them the hardest dude to guard because they're so unpredictable. You know, if they find a crease or get a

1:23:17Joe Johnson:crease, they're going for it.

1:23:19Chad Johnson:Yeah.

1:23:22Shannon Sharpe:Hey guys, you're the GM and you're building around Shea or Wemby and you got the choice today. Knowing what I know now, even though Shea is a two-time league MVP and he's won the championship, I'm taking Wemby. yeah we said that yeah oh joe how was it acting on the show the game do you remember that role

1:23:41Joe Johnson:that was good that was good that was good uh i think for that role uh and that appearance on the game i should have won an emmy uh for what i was able to do obviously just happened to be myself um the the character that i did depict is similar to some of my situations that go on in real life so that was me in real time and there have been situations like that um that i've come across you with individuals that I've dated over time. And, I mean, it was good. Just having to be myself and not having to play a character at that time in my young acting career, it was dope. And I thought I did a very, very good job.

1:24:18Shannon Sharpe:You averaged 15 in the playoffs. Can we please talk about your playoff stats? Let's be fair. I don't know who he's talking about. Joe, you averaged 15 in the playoffs?

1:24:30Chad Johnson:I may have had a playoff series. I did average 15. I mean, I don't know if that's no career though.

1:24:38Shannon Sharpe:Also, the promo before the game at Jacksonville in 2005 was classic. Rasheem Mathis, you can't cover me. What are you going to what was it going to like against him? Your touchdown celebration, you were doing CPR.

1:24:50Joe Johnson:Yeah, Rasheem Mathis was very good. He was very good. I think at that time we went into Jacksonville. I think we were 4-0. We were 4-0 at that time. I think we ended up losing that game and I was crying on camera after the game. It's funny. We 4-0. I'm crying on camera because now we 4-1. Because I felt that was a game that we shouldn't have lost. But Rasheed Mathis was very good. Very, very good. Especially impressed. Very aggressive. Play inside and out. You know, keep you thinking. Once he get his hands on you, you're done. You're done. So I did everything in my power to make sure I wasn't able to get touch.

1:25:20Joe Johnson:I don't remember what my stat line was that game, but I remember Rasheed Mathis being one that I really had no choice but to get up for because I did all that damn talk in the photo game. Right. And he was a good player, too. No, he went to HBCU, too, huh?

1:25:35Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, he went to Bethune?

1:25:39Shannon Sharpe:I think he went to... Yeah, I think it was Bethune.

1:25:43Joe Johnson:I think he did win. I might be wrong.

1:25:47Shannon Sharpe:I think he went to Cookman. Can we talk about your 15 points in the playoffs? You guys have a responsibility to be honest. Y 'all not created a narrative. You say wrong stats. You claim you've seen LeBron James give up a 3-1 lead. I never said that. I said Kobe gave up a 3-1 lead and would prove the point by not taking a shot. Ain't nobody say that. I said LeBron came back from 3-1, and we know he's the only one to come. I'm moving on. With your background colors next to each other, it's like a French flag. Is that for women?

1:26:20Joe Johnson:Hey, that's dope. Hey, Joe, your background blue, yours red, and mine white.

1:26:24Shannon Sharpe:Damn. Yeah.

1:26:26Joe Johnson:I like that. That's dope how they care.

1:26:28Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, we cheering on the big champagne.

1:26:34Shannon Sharpe:What do you think is easy for people to hate on someone or appreciate? Hate. Yeah. Way easy.

1:26:40Joe Johnson:Hate is much easier. You got to be a different person to give someone their gratification. Give someone their flowers.

1:26:45Chad Johnson:Because we know you and we know Uncle Ocho, y 'all rarely give me my flowers. You know what I mean? Like when, Ocho. What?

1:26:56Shannon Sharpe:I mean, whoa, whoa, whoa. I don't give you your flower, Joe.

1:26:59Chad Johnson:I'm talking about when I be kicking on y 'all ass, when I kicked on y 'all ass in January. Y 'all don't give me my flowers for that. Y 'all don't just say, Joe, you was a bad boy, man. It's always an excuse. I'm saying, man, you know what I'm saying? That's all I'm saying.

1:27:12Joe Johnson:Hey, you know what, Joe? Hey, hey, Uncle, he living on the past a little too much. We need to hurt him and set something else back up.

1:27:18Shannon Sharpe:We gave his credit, but that still ain't good enough.

1:27:21Joe Johnson:I don't know what else he want.

1:27:24Chad Johnson:All y 'all had to say, well, yeah, you right, Joe. You use a cold. Okay, Joe. All right.

1:27:30Joe Johnson:God damn.

1:27:31Shannon Sharpe:Joe, you feel a caca, Joe. That's what we've been to say.

1:27:37Shannon Sharpe:That completes this episode of Nightcap as you watch the OKC Thunder tie the series up, heading to San Antonio. What was the final? 122 to 113. Big, big night from Shea Gilchrist Alexander. they had three guys come off the bench and give them double figures, and that was the difference in the ballgame. But two guys, three guys left the ballgame. Dylan Harper, who was filling in the starting lineup for De 'Aaron Fox, he left the ballgame. J-Dub, re-injured what looks like to be his hamstring, he left the ballgame. And the guy that played so well in the previous series against the Lakers, he ends up leaving the ballgame with a lower leg injury.

1:28:19Shannon Sharpe:So we'll see how this plays out over the next 36 hours and see what comes of that. But it's going to be very, very interesting if those three players do not play in game three.
