In short

Sports recap and debate across three headline events: Geno Auriemma’s postgame controversy after UConn’s loss to South Carolina; UCLA’s upset win over Texas; Deontay Wilder’s comeback slugfest win; and Nikola Jokic outdueling Victor Wembanyama in an overtime thriller.

Guest backgrounds

The episode is hosted by “John Daly” (promo only) and features recurring commentators “Joe” and “Uncle Ocho,” former basketball/coach voices who discuss games from a coaching/player perspective. No specific guest bios are provided in the transcript.

Key claims

Auriemma’s apology is criticized as insufficient because it didn’t directly address Dawn Staley after an on-court confrontation; UCLA’s win is credited to Lauren Betts’ late impact and Kiki Rice’s clutch free throws; Wilder’s victory shows he has a puncher’s chance despite a war-like style; Jokic’s efficiency (40/13/8, no turnovers) and Aaron Gordon’s defense were decisive.

Notable examples

South Carolina’s defense dominating UConn; UCLA 51-44 over Texas with Betts 16 points/11 rebounds/3 blocks and Rice hitting four late free throws; Wilder defeating Derek Chisora by split decision after two knockdowns; Nuggets beating Spurs in OT as Jokic posted 40 points, 13 assists, and 3 blocks.

3:08Shannon Sharpe:CarMax. Ready. The South Carolina Lady Gamecocks beat the UConn Huskies 62-48 in the final seconds. Gino Auriemma approached Don Staley for a post-game handshake and then angrily got in their face before Don started firing back. The two were separated, but Don kept shouting towards the bench before walking away. Geno walked off to the tunnel alone. In his post-game news conference, Geno said he was frustrated because he waited three minutes for a pregame handshake with Don. He also said he did not regret the comments he made to Holly Rowe during the broadcast about the lack of fouls against South Carolina.

3:43Shannon Sharpe:It said Don rants and raves at the officials and called referees some names you don't want to hear. Clearly, someone got through to Geno because this morning he issued a statement saying, there are no excuses for how I'll handle the end of the game versus South Carolina. It's unlike what I do and what our standard is here at Connecticut. I want to apologize to the staff and the team at South Carolina. It was uncalled for how I reacted. The story should have been how well South Carolina played, and I don't want my actions to distract from that. I have a great relationship with their staff, and I sincerely want to apologize to them, Geno Oriyema.

4:18Shannon Sharpe:Well, I'm glad you apologized because we about to tear your ass up, Gino. But anyway, Ocho, Joe, we still going to tear his ass up. Oh, yeah, absolutely. And he was dead wrong.

4:28Joe Johnson:Yeah, hey, dead wrong. Hey, Uncle Joe, listen, as a coach, especially a winning coach like Gino, you have to be able – you should understand and you have to learn how to win with grace and lose with grace. When you beat Miss Staley last time, you was all smiles, happy, hugs, ready to – you know, whatever it may be. in the fact that you say some things to Hollyro and saying that in the game that Don Steadley probably influenced the rest because y 'all guys didn't get the calls necessary. Listen, South Carolina, they didn't just beat y 'all. They dominated in every aspect of the game. They played great defense.

5:05Joe Johnson:It just did. That wasn't getting beat. That was getting your ass whipped. That's all it was. I mean, listen, your team got embarrassed. You got to be able to lose with grace as well. Okay, you didn't get the three-minute handshake, you waited three minutes before pregame. What is that? That had - She did shake his hand. The whole joke? Yeah.

5:27Shannon Sharpe:She shook his hand.

5:29Joe Johnson:In pregame? Well, why'd he say yes?

5:31Shannon Sharpe:Before the game, she shook his hand, man. Oh, so he's upset and he had to wait three minutes? Is that - why did he bring that up? He's upset. He was the favorite. They blew South Carolina out last year. They were favorite. They got two All-American, first team All-American. Yeah. They might have the player of the year in Sarah Strong. Sarah, hey, she nice. But, but, South Carolina beat them. Yeah. And so this is, I thought I was going to win. I was supposed to win, and I got beat. Yeah. That's what this was about. Yeah. This was a sore loser. Yeah. Yeah. Made my damn handshake. Yeah. Undefeated season.

6:09Shannon Sharpe:You know he was softy, bro. He was softy. And how about not just apologizing to the coaching staff. You know, give a personal apology to Don Staley. You know what I mean? Like, bro, for you to get in her face like that and talk stuff to her after the game, man, just congratulate and move on. I understand, you know, in the heat of the battle, you know, we get a little pissed off. You know, like I said, he was on the brink to having an undefeated season, Uncle Ocho. Yeah. And like Uncle said, he was a heavy favorite. But, man, them girls from South Carolina came to sleep. They just outplayed him.

6:37Shannon Sharpe:They outplayed him, bro. They outplayed him. They dogged him. They dogged him. And he couldn't take it. He couldn't take it. No, no, don't say South Carolina. You didn't do this to South Carolina. You was in Don Staley's face. Apologize, say, you know what? I want to apologize to the staff, and I want to personally apologize to Don Staley. Now you told a lie because you said you had a great relationship with the staff. You don't. You said before, they asked you after the game, do you have a relationship? You said no. Right. So were you lying then or you're lying now? Right, right.

7:07Joe Johnson:Hey. And you know what? Whoever wrote that apology to Uncle Joe Foyn. Yeah, GPT. Allegedly. That too. And he know if you're going to apologize to someone, you apologize to the person you had the altercation with. That's what I'm saying. You didn't have an altercation with the staff.

7:23Shannon Sharpe:That's what I'm saying.

7:23Joe Johnson:You didn't have an altercation with the entire entity of South Carolina. That apology has been directed straight to Don Staley and nobody else.

7:32Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, and the fact that he was dead wrong, talking about, oh, my player got a ripped jersey. Hell, she ripped her own damn jersey. She ripped her own damn jersey. Yeah, she ripped her own jersey. I've been coaching 40 years, and I've never had a player ripped jersey. Well, I guess you never had a plan to get that upset then. Because she ripped that on her own damn jersey. Like, just dead wrong. You know, you dead wrong like that, bro. Just apologize. Make a personal apology to Don. That's what I felt like it should have been. But I just felt like he was dead wrong, bro. Dead wrong. Don said I beat Gino ass.

8:02Shannon Sharpe:I'm going to beat Gino ass. Oh, you read her lips? You read her lips, too? I ain't going to read her lips. You go in the audience. That's what she's saying. Okay, okay, okay. Hey, Don from Philly. Okay, Ocho. She ain't playing. Yeah, she about to get to it. Yeah. And that's, anytime, you have to, it has to have, it has to be personal. Yes. Because what you did was personal. Yeah. Okay, you wanna apologize to your institution because the way you behave and put them in a negative light? You can say that. I wanna apologize to my university also. But you did this to Don. You didn't do this to your entire staff.

8:39Shannon Sharpe:You did this to one individual. Now, whatever the case may be, I don't know where it goes back from, but he had a very contentious relationship with Pat Summitt, the University of Tennessee. Yeah. It was very contentious. I know I had the lovely opportunity of meeting Pat in New York at the Sky Club at LaGuardia. Had a great time. I said, Ms. Summitt, how did you just call me, Pat? You know, so forth and so on. But, Gino, you was wrong. Did. And your apology, I appreciate it. but it needs to have a personal touch to it. It needs to say, I apologize to the person that I spoke out of turn to, that I approached, that I probably said something that I shouldn't say.

9:20Shannon Sharpe:I don't know what he said. But the way you behave is that you took a lot of the steam out of the sale of South Carolina because what we should be talking about is that South Carolina did what many didn't think they could do, beat an undefeated team, a reigning champion with two All-Americans, and they did it on the defensive end. Yeah. Yeah, there had some ladies that rose to the occasion offensively, but this was a defense. You look at what Sarah Strong shot, you look at what A.Z. Fudd shot, and that'll tell you everything that you need to know. For you to not have a personal touch and say, I'd like to apologize first and foremost to Dawn Staley.

9:57Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. She's a hell of a coach. She's rebutting. And look here, the Gamecocks, when you think about the Gamecocks, you think about their women's basketball team. You don't think about the football team. And they've had a baseball team, had good baseball team. good track program with sarge fry but when you think of south carolina gamecocks you think of don staley and the lady gamecocks absolutely absolutely so for you not to talk about the staff you said you do not have a personal relationship with don staley and i'm not saying that you have to yeah yeah that's fine but your behavior would suggest that you need to have personally apologize to her.

10:37Shannon Sharpe:I appreciate you apologizing to the University of South Carolina and their staff. But, they got to be have a little more personal touch to it. That's what apology, in order for you to, an individual, because what you did was to an individual, you need to personally apologize to said individual. Absolutely. Go ahead, don't you? What do you want to say?

11:00Joe Johnson:Honestly, you know, excuse my language, man, fuck that apology. Most of the time, it takes for somebody to get angry for them to show their true colors and how they really feel. Yeah, I mean, that's all it is. And then on top of that, the fact that he didn't apologize directly to her, it lets you know how he really feel. When you winning, when you winning, all is good. When you winning, you smile.

11:27Shannon Sharpe:When he was on the sideline, the clock running down, he got his hands all up there.

11:30Joe Johnson:Hey, smiling.

11:32Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, yeah. Yeah, Newcombe, back where we supposed to be. Yeah, yeah.

11:37Joe Johnson:Hey, man, that fake ass apology, man, that wasn't no apology, man.

11:40Shannon Sharpe:He didn't even write it, but check this out. Can y 'all imagine what Don Staley was like in the locker room after the game? Like, way to kick that mother... You know what I mean? Of course. You know she was going off like that. Oh, wait a minute. Hey, that's what I would have been like. I'm like, man...

11:55Joe Johnson:Wait, wait a minute, Joe and Unc. Hold on. You think it's bad because Gino did this. imagine if the motherfucking roles was flipped. Boy.

12:05Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

12:05Joe Johnson:Man, it would have been World War III.

12:08Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. They'd have been talking big stuff about Don. Man, listen. You got to be just as gracious in victory as you are in defeat. Now, think about it. Think about Gino. Gino's been coaching 20, 40 years. He's been the 25 Final Fours. He's won 12 championships. So somebody has been on the losing end. 12 times. Geno is 12-1 in national championship games. Dang him. South Carolina beat him a couple years ago. He's 12-1. So 12 times somebody had to walk across the floor, across the court aisle, and shake his hand after they got in their ass, tore up. Yeah. You look at the women that he's coached, from Taurasi and Lobo and Maya Moore and Charles and Breonna Stewart, and the list goes on and on.

13:03Shannon Sharpe:He's winning three out of four. Breonna Stewart didn't lose a national championship game. So for four straight years, this man, he up the cheek, key, key in the people's face. Yeah. Now the one time you're supposed to win and you didn't, you behave like this. Remember, you're as gracious in victory as you are in defeat. Nobody likes to lose. Everybody talk about, man, I'm a sore, I hate when people say, well, I hate to lose. If you, once you get to a certain level, everybody hates to lose. Yes, sir. You put all that damn time in, all these girls done put all this time in, and been away from their families and doing all this stuff.

13:42Shannon Sharpe:Nobody wants to lose.

13:43Joe Johnson:No.

13:44Shannon Sharpe:But it's a part of it.

13:45Joe Johnson:Yep.

13:45Shannon Sharpe:But when they lose, they don't act like a jackass. Yeah, yeah. Man, that kills me. I hate what guy, oh, I'm a so, yeah. It bothers me, anybody. Cause I know there are some guys that, hey, when they winning, they running around and act like they're on a damn hoverboard. But when they lose, Ocho, they can't be found. Well, you know, I didn't want it. No, no, no, no. But they couldn't get you to shut up. Yeah, yeah. Nah, don't do that. Don't do that. Yeah, I just didn't expect that from Geno, bro. I just felt like he was a classy individual, and I thought that, you know, he would be much better than that.

14:25Shannon Sharpe:Like, blaming Don on how she talked to the ref. Man, come on, man. We're in between the lines. Like he ain't never saying something out of line to the ref. Come on, man. But that ain't your job. That's the ref. You ain't no ref. You a cult. And stop dry snitching. Yeah.

14:40Joe Johnson:And the way he said it, the way he explained it, is as if Don screaming or saying whatever she's saying to the referees is influencing the ref's call in the game. Then he follows it up with the fouls. What? Gina, what are we talking about, baby? You got whooped. You lost. Yes. You don't lose often, but tonight you lost.

15:05Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. It's okay. What about that, Ocho? The man, he won like 112-something games. He won like three straight years and never lost a game.

15:17Shannon Sharpe:Ain't nobody Ain't nobody did what he did To him with Don Staley What he did to Don They didn't do that to him Don took that ass with it I think they beat the Carolina last year They beat him I think they beat him in South Carolina Beat him by about 30 or 40 And they beat him by another 20-30 last year At the championship game Yeah Don got some dogs over there on the Ocho Oh yeah And Chloe Kitts, one of their best rebounding girls. She hurt. McKeer and Lassen and Raven Johnson, all those them girls came to play. They came to play. They came to play last night and I just hope they can finish it off.

15:58Shannon Sharpe:It's going to be anticlimactic if they take down Goliath and they take care of UCLA. UCLA, they got a big girl down there who ain't playing. Laura Betts.

16:08Joe Johnson:She nice.

16:11Shannon Sharpe:But Carolina gonna play some defense now They don't do nothing else They gonna play defense They gonna hang their halves on defense Cause that's what Don was She could put the ball in the basket But Don was a hound And she got some girls who can go off the bounce though I'm talking about get to that chicken It's different when you got girls Who out there moving like dudes You see what I'm saying Who handling that rock like a dude That's when you like hold on bro You know what I mean? Yeah, for real. That's why I be looking up. Hold on, that girl got that thing on her string, though. Mm-hmm. So.

16:47Shannon Sharpe:But Carolina did it. The Lady Gamecocks has an opportunity to win their third national championship in four years. For what she's done to that program, wow. Man. Basically, that's what you got to do. Because for the most part, when you get a program, you build it up. Look at Geno. Geno was there for 40-plus. has been at UConn for 40 years. Pat was there for 35, 40 years. Tar Vanderveer at Stanford, 35, 40 years. You look at these ladies, Kim Mulkey, when she was at Baylor, she built that program up. Yeah. So basically, you've got to build a program. You've just got to build it. You've got to be a great players coach to where these kids that's coming to your school, they've got to really, truly believe that you've got their back.

17:35Shannon Sharpe:And I feel like with Dawn, you know, she in TikTok. She in Instagram Reels. You know what I mean? That's relatable to these kids because that's all they want to do. You know what I mean? They want to have fun, do stuff like that at the same time. If you're giving me everything that I'm asking for on the court, 100 % on offense and defense, man, I do all the TikToks I want to do. What did she do? She let a team pick out a bag, a Louis Vuitton bag. I think she let Jackson State and them get sneakers. Yeah. I think she's just, I've never met Don, but she just strikes me as an all-around good player, a good person.

18:11Shannon Sharpe:She wants to, hey, look, she's a hard worker. You can tell she's a hard worker. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But, and she demands, she demands a certain level of respect. Yeah, yeah. And the women gravitate towards that. They know, hey, once a coach establishes what he expects or she expects and they don't waver, there you go. Yeah, shout out to Don, man. She came and hollered at us when I was playing in the big three. This one I was playing with the triplets, and Lisa Leslie was our head coach. You know, her and Lisa Leslie played together at USA. You know, they dolls. Yeah. You know what I mean? So she came in there and talked to us, bro.

18:55Shannon Sharpe:Like, you know, just gave us a little pep talk before the game, and I thought that was cool. So I got much love and respect for her. I like how she handled herself, you know, after that game the other day. Because I'm going to tell you, I would have been the same way. Hell, I wouldn't have been surprised she jumped on Gino's ass. I was like, boy, look. I can't whip it. I can't whip it in front of all these folks. But hold on. Wasn't Don under Gino at the U.S. team? Yeah. They coached in the Olympics in 20. She played for him too. She played for him and coached with him.

19:29Shannon Sharpe:He was the coach? Because I know I think Pat coached for a number of years.

19:44Shannon Sharpe:But if I'm not, she might be, is she still the USA basketball, US women's basketball coach, head coach? Yeah, she was the coach. In 21.

20:02Shannon Sharpe:I mean, our women had lost a gold medal since, I think, what, 92, 96? Mm. We don't want 2004, 8, 12, 16, 21, 24. So we don't want seven straight times. They don't even have no competition, though. No. Nah, they too good. Because we go, I mean, we bring, I mean, we got stew. Our big is stew in Asia. And then we got guards out the yin yang. We got Kaitlyn Clark, we got Inescu, we got Chelsea, we got Jackie Young. They can't help with us. Too many. We got Fee. They can't fool with us. Them girls can go, boy.

20:53Okay.

20:56Shannon Sharpe:Okay, Cheryl Reeves. Okay. So who's going to be the coach in 28? Reeves again? Okay. But, you know, you're better than that, Gino. All the – I mean, it's – huh? Carol Lawson. Okay. Duke. Okay. Oh, yeah. Tennessee on the pad. She coaching the USA thing? Yes, she's going to be the coach in 28. I like Carol Lawson. She good. I like Carol Lawson, too. But you notice it's always – it's mainly the coaches. that win a lot and then when they lose, show they, cause you know who else was like that? Who? You know you played for a mocho. Who? Bill Belichick. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Wanna run off the field and don't talk and be getting short with the answers.

21:46Shannon Sharpe:It's always the people that win. You bro, you don't win and coaches have to answer the question and talk about how great that play call was and how you went for it and all of this and that. They got to just allod you with a praise and adulation. Yeah. Now you lose a game. He give you one word. Oh, yeah. Big time. Got to play better. Coach better. That's it.

25:20Shannon Sharpe:Basically, that's exactly what he said. UCLA beat Texas 51-44. Four UCLA starters scored in double figures. Led by senior Lauren Betts, who has 16 points, 11 rebounds, three blocks, but a crucial one late in the ballgame. Kiki Rice. We've had Kiki on 11 points, including four key free throws in the final minute to see the win. and fellow guards Gabrielle Hawkins whose brother Jamie plays at the Miami Heat and Gianna each

25:54Shannon Sharpe:had 10 I thought Texas because Texas got a girl I think it's Booker I think Booker she wears KD number 35 you see what she shot from the field boy they did a number on her she missed 17 straight shots Joe and Ocho before she hit that last one late I think you put them within four or three. But she was, oh, she was bad. She got plenty of game, Uncle Ochoa. I done seen her play a few times this year. Yeah. But she won three of 23 for six points, bro. Yeah. And look, they ain't even lose by that many. I thought, you know, if she could have just played decent. Oh, they beat them. Yeah. If she played, if she played.

26:31Shannon Sharpe:And here's another thing. They shot five free throws, Joe. So that tells me they're not aggressive. No. It tells me they're settling for jumpers. Yeah, yeah. She's 0-4 from the three-point line, and then she didn't shoot a free throw. Their starter, only one starter shot a free throw. Let that sink in. Only one starter from the University of Texas shot a free throw. Damn. Yeah. Hey, Bits did a number on them, though. 11 boards, 16.7 for 10. She can play. I like her game. Oh, she tall. She's 6 '4". I think she's taller than that. It's going to be a game. It's going to be a game tomorrow. It's going to be, how does UCLA handle the pressure of the Lady Gamecocks?

27:15Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Yeah. When they play, huh? Tomorrow at like 2.30 or something. 2.30? Well, I'm glad they moved it in front of the men because before Joe and Ocho, you know, I think they were playing. Wasn't they playing after the men? At one point in time, they were playing like on a Tuesday. Or have they always played on a Sunday? I think they always play a day before the men. Joe, do you remember Joe Ocho? In the men's Final Four, they used to play a consolation game. Uh-uh. The two teams that lost, so like Arizona and Illinois would play. Oh, no, I ain't never – I ain't known that. Yeah, they used to do that, Joe.

27:57Shannon Sharpe:I'd be pissed off. I wouldn't even want to play.

28:02Shannon Sharpe:Oh, they say Ben 6-7. Damn. Yeah, yeah, yeah. She's 6 '7". She down there handling business too, boy. She's 6' what? 6 '7". Woo! Hey, hey, the thing is, hey, she can't, hey, she better buy her a Cooper flag, because she can't wear nothing but flip flops with a guy. Ain't no way she can put on no, she put on four-inch heels. Joe, she damn damn self-putting tall. Hey, could y 'all date a girl tall to y 'all? Yeah, yeah, I done been there. I done been there before, Joe. You dated a girl tall to you? in 2017 they moved it from Tuesday to Sunday. I knew they used to come on. I was like, bro, y 'all anticlimactic.

28:39Shannon Sharpe:You got guys hitting buzzer beaters. Carolina hitting the – Villanova hitting the buzzer beater. How you top that? Yeah. Go before the men. Damn. Hey, Joe, what'd you ask me, Joe? I said, have y 'all dated a girl taller than y 'all? I have not. Ocho say he have.

28:58Joe Johnson:Yeah, you know, Joe, I had one by 6 '5". Did you really? Yeah, 6 '6", yeah. But if you're from the south of the country, you know you can climb a tree. Yeah, I was just getting ready to say that. Joe, you ain't never climb no tree, nobody taller than you? Bad Joe fired somebody, she gonna be seven foot tall.

29:13Shannon Sharpe:Hey, hey, hey, Ocho, you say - The hell you went to the Amazon? Right, Ocho, you say y 'all the same size when you lay down, huh? Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, Joe. Hey, Joe, hey, boy. Joe must be got one of the most Sudanese women from the car, well, uh, uh, uh. I ain't, I ain't no - Hold on, where, uh, what's the guy? luau ding those those are the tallest women on average i think what what is he sudanese i think he's suiting these they the tall they have the tallest women on average joe yeah i ain't never date no girl taller than me i'm six seven six eight i mean damn you i'm dating somebody 69

29:46Joe Johnson:hold on hey hey joe hold on most of the time joe when you was playing ball like in high school in college you you dated other other hoopers right no yeah i did yeah yeah yeah the girl i dated when i

29:59Shannon Sharpe:I was in high school and college, she played ball. She hit - I thought she was.

30:03Joe Johnson:She hit him about five, six, five, seven. I'm talking about somebody like six feet in the belly, yo.

30:09Shannon Sharpe:No, man, no, no, no. You know, you don't never, you don't really, that's rare, you don't never really see two tall people together. Bam, bam and Asia. I said it's rare, Ocho. Oh, my bad. Lisa Leslie and her husband. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, they're my people, yeah, yeah. Oh, buddy, buddy, buddy. I think Lisa like 6 '4", 6 '5", and I think he like 6 '6", 6 '7". Yeah, yeah. Okay. Merton Hanks and his wife. You remember Merton Hanks, Ocho? Yeah. Yeah. His wife – hell, his wife might be taller than him. Yeah, Merton wants to. Merton like 6 '3". I think she about 6 '4". Hey, I'll tell you what, then.

30:49Shannon Sharpe:But no, I've never dated a woman. But Ms. Betts, unless she get Nicola Jokic or the dude from Florida that's 7 foot 9, she can't wear no heels. But that's how you get you a monster though, boy. Because if the woman's tall, the child probably pretty much going to be tall. It has a lot to do with the woman.

31:10Joe Johnson:Yeah, I tried, Joe. I tried. You tried? You ain't got no tall kids, Ocho? I mean, yeah. They all tall. But I'm just saying, at that time, during that time, I was like, hey, listen. And they were like, nah, it ain't the right time. I'll catch you later on in life. I'm like, listen, I ain't got time to waste.

31:28Shannon Sharpe:I mean, I've dated women my height, six foot. I mean, my height. But not somebody like 6 '3", 6 '4", 6 '5". Yeah, that's an age.

31:36Joe Johnson:If she put on heels, then she taller than you.

31:40Shannon Sharpe:Well. Hey, she got to wear clogs or sandals. But the thing is, you know, my grandma and grandfather used to say, boy, if you date a woman taller than you, the first thing, she get mad that she's going to hit you in your head. So I always thought like, you know what? Nah, let me keep somebody a little, keep me a little five, little five, eight, five, five.

32:08Joe Johnson:Damn.

32:08Shannon Sharpe:No, I never dated a woman my height. Oh, okay, my bad. I've never dated a woman my height.

32:16Joe Johnson:Okay, okay, okay.

32:17Shannon Sharpe:I mean, taller than me. My height, 62. I've dated one 62. I've never dated one 6 '3", 6 '4", 6 '5". Definitely not no, man, 6 '5"? Yeah, don't be scared. Hey, I like for them to get on their tiptoes to kiss me. What do I look like on my tiptoes kissing a woman? Ain't nothing wrong with that, Unk. Man, you out your damn mind. Ain't nothing wrong with that. Hey, six-two kind of tall though, Unk, for a woman. Yeah, I know. It is. Joe, what you think about saying I'm on my tiptoes kissing her? Ain't nothing wrong with that, Unk. Now, you know, Joe, most of the time women have been on their tiptoes kissing you.

32:50Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, yeah. You ain't been on your tiptoes kissing no damn woman. Yeah. Hey,

32:57Joe Johnson:you never know.

32:58Shannon Sharpe:You never know till you try it. I'm good. I'm good. I done got old nine. I'm shrinking. So, I'm shrinking. The fine girls, they're tall. They far few in between, boy. Hey, you got to be in the right place. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I'm talking about that's tall and proportion right. I'm talking about. Y 'all know what I'm talking about.

33:19Joe Johnson:Well, considering I got kids, I mean. I know what you're talking about, Joe.

33:22Shannon Sharpe:I'm with you.

33:23Joe Johnson:I'm picking up what you're putting down, baby.

33:25Shannon Sharpe:What'd you say, Joe? I said, you know, it's hard to find a girl that's tall and she proportioned right. Yeah, the right-hand side. You know what I'm talking about. Black Isle, Black Isle. Oh, you got to get a volleyball player then. You're right. You're right.

33:45Shannon Sharpe:The volleyball girl is different, ain't they? Are they? Hey. You know who O'Shea? She has some legs on her. She's about 5 '8". I'm talking about 155. You used to go to the games, huh? Nah, hell nah. When you was in college, you didn't go to the volleyball game? I'm trying to think that we have a volleyball team when I was in college. I was in the league. She had a – I think I was like 25. She was 20. No, I was 26. she was 22. Cause she had just got out of school. Right. That boy having tons of fun. Boy, it's something, hey. On average? Yes, sir. I don't know if I've ever seen one that wasn't fine.

34:34Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Now, if we'd have a track, now a track, women would throw the disc in the shot. Ooh, love. Yeah. Yeah.

34:47Joe Johnson:Yeah, I remember them days, days over and that over. Man, there you go.

34:52Shannon Sharpe:Man, we ain't about to know what you like. You gonna have a 12, but you ain't gonna be but 5 '5".

34:58Joe Johnson:Nah, nah, nah, nah. You know, hey, listen. I've had, you know, all different heights and sizes and, you know, weights and ethnicities. Listen, I'm like Skittles, man. I'm every color. Everything ain't getting eight.

35:11Shannon Sharpe:Hey, you gonna taste the rainbow. You heard what he said, Joe? Everything ain't getting eight. Gotta taste the rainbow.

35:18Joe Johnson:He gonna taste the rainbow for sure. I mean, you got to, you know? You got to. Old fella.

35:23Shannon Sharpe:He just working on, he just, he on, he an eighth degree, ninth degree, tongue-full master. He just keep getting different belts.

35:30Joe Johnson:Hey man, it's only one way to get that black belt on. Sometimes, hey listen, sometimes you gotta set the standard, man.

35:37Shannon Sharpe:Hell no, Ocho. But no, I couldn't imagine that, Joe, honestly. I couldn't, I mean, I wouldn't even feel like a man. I mean, if you're a guy and you on your tiptoes to kiss the woman. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, Joe, come on, Joe. You 6 '7", 6 '8". You on your tiptoes. No. That means she's 6 '9". I just can't even see it. I can't see it. Hey, you go out. She got on heels. You black tie. You got a tux on. She got on heels. I got these hard bottoms on. And they snap a picture.

36:08Joe Johnson:You on your tiptoes. Hey, ain't nothing wrong with being vulnerable in that position, man. you know for a change hey hey you you and your soft era ain't nothing wrong with that no no no

36:22Shannon Sharpe:man come on i'm just saying i'm just saying you need don't knock it till you try it i'm just look i mean look if you if you're a short guy problems you five two five there's a great chance if you five five five or under as a guy you probably gonna end up marrying somebody taller than you yeah yeah yeah because most of the time you know unless unless you like you know you uh uh date a a little person, a little person. But, I mean, sometimes they get, as a matter of fact, Brad Williams. You know, he married not a little person. She's taller than he is. But for the most part, if you a small guy, you're going to probably end up with a taller one.

37:02Shannon Sharpe:I think smaller dudes, they kind of like that. They do. Yeah, they do. I think, like, even when it comes to, like, you know, having their offspring and everything, they think about that. They think about, damn, I'm short, but if I give me a tall woman about 5 '9", 5 '10", and I ain't but hell 5 '6", I might be all right. Yeah, you know, if they're in between. Yeah. I get somebody 5 '5", I'm 5 '5". Well, hey, we might have a little person. Mm-hmm. There's nothing wrong with a little person, I'm just saying. Yeah, yeah. Because you look at Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman.

37:38Shannon Sharpe:Kanye, what, Kanye 5 '5", but Kim 5 '2". damn that's what I'm saying but to see these people in person and to see how small they actually are it's like damn you tiny yeah you're right when you see celebs you see them on television and you're like damn and then when you actually see them in person you see them with your own you're like damn you tiny

38:09Shannon Sharpe:that's the thing because my sister asks me all the time Well, how does it say? She's not as tall as you think. I said, she's probably about 5 '4". That's my height. Right. Yeah. She your height, then. But, nah, Joe. I'm with you, Joe. I ain't getting on my tiptoes. Imagine I got on some hard-bottled shoes and I'm on my tiptoes. My heels off the ground. Come on, Joe. I like it, huh? Or she knew. They said Ocho kissed this girl taller than him and had one leg off the ground with his foot back. Man, come on, Wauke. That's what they say, Joe.

38:49Joe Johnson:Hey, that's a nice visual, man. You know, I'm just living. I'm just living.

38:57Shannon Sharpe:Man, this joker here. Hey. I don't know what to say about you, Ocho, man. Hey, I should have done a background check on you, man.

39:05Joe Johnson:No, listen, you don't got to do no background check. I live my life publicly.

39:10Shannon Sharpe:man it is what it is man you know yeah y 'all right y 'all said uh uh nicole and eddie murphy she was taller than he was oh yeah yeah yeah yeah hi uncle laser here america's built on fast cars fast food and even faster women photo casinos built in america you know what they're fast out fast cash rise redemption you see only moto is us owned and operated moto it's american made is that's who we are and that's who we care about. 42:25Shannon Sharpe:Deontay Wilder defeated Derek Chisora via split decision and a scrappy but entertaining heavyweight bout to put himself back in the conversation for a bigger fight. Wilder scored two knockdowns but was deducted for a point in Chisora's fifth and final pro fight. The two judges scored at 115-111 and 115-113 for Wilder, but one had it 115-112 for Chisora. Chisora went through the ropes twice as both men spent much of the fight leaning on each other. The bread appeared to tie in the later rounds, and Wilder landed more as the fight went on. Chisora scored a knockdown in the 11th round, but it was a little too late.

43:04Shannon Sharpe:too late as Wilder controlled the last round to secure the victory.

43:08Joe Johnson:Yeah.

43:09Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, you watched this fight? Yeah. What did you think?

43:12Joe Johnson:I mean, I enjoyed it. It wasn't a boxing match, Uncle Joe. Slug fence. Hey, that was a fight. That was war. It was a very entertaining fight. I mean, it's what you expected from two heavyweights. I don't really think that Wilder slipped in the 11th. I think maybe the 11th or the 10th. I think he slipped on the canvas, Unk. Yeah, I was like, well, damn. Yeah, I think he slipped. Might have been some water. Maybe the West part or something like that. Okay, I thought that was too, so I was the only one.

43:39Shannon Sharpe:Man, them dudes out there wrestling and everything, man. Hey, Joe, you know them boys tied. That wasn't the sweet size. Ocho, you talking about you like the sweet size? That was not the sweet size. That was definitely one in. Hey, I see a lot of wild punches and all that. Hey, Ocho, it didn't look like, you know, like those guys really had much, you know, savvy when it comes to their punches. because I'm looking, I'm like, man, like these dudes in the backyard somewhere the way they fight. Yeah. But if you notice about Deontay Wilder, and that's the thing, it's like when he gets somebody in trouble, he really starts swinging wild.

44:15Shannon Sharpe:Oh, yeah. Hey. That's him.

44:17Joe Johnson:He trying to connect. And if he connect, boy, it's lights out.

44:21Shannon Sharpe:And the thing is, Ocho, but you tire yourself out. He was tired. Yeah. Because if he wasn't tired, he'd have put Chisora. He had Chisora in trouble.

44:29Joe Johnson:Yeah, he did. I thought he almost got him out of there too, Unc. I did too. with eight. Yep. When he caught him, he went between them ropes?

44:37Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

44:38Joe Johnson:I thought we were getting him up out of there.

44:39Shannon Sharpe:They went over the ropes? Then Chazora pulled him down? I was like, well, damn.

44:45Joe Johnson:Yeah. Hey, Joe, when you come to the sweet science and like a pure boxer that's a heavyweight, if you ever see Usyk fight, that'd be one. He fight, he's a heavyweight, but he fight like he's small. Oh, he got some hands. He got some hands. Yeah, he put hands together, yeah.

45:04Shannon Sharpe:Hey, he nice. Yeah, that's what I like to say. I like to see guys with great footwork can really box. No, he can fight for a heavyweight. Yeah, he can fight like a little man. Yeah, he does. He nice. And put punches together. He does. But look, there was some punches thrown. It wasn't a whole lot of that. Look, was it artistic? No.

45:25Joe Johnson:No. No.

45:27Shannon Sharpe:No.

45:27Joe Johnson:It was a war.

45:29Shannon Sharpe:It was not artistic. It was a war. I mean, hey, they were taking each other, rabbit punching each other in the head. They were in the clutch of poop. And you hit me in the back of my head, I'm going to hit you in the back of your head.

45:39Joe Johnson:Hey, I wonder who Wilder going to fight next, huh? Because this is good for him. This is great momentum. He needed a win, you know, after some tough defeats. So, listen, I'm happy for Wilder. I'm curious who is next to fight. Who is going to fight, Ocho? You think he can fight Joshua? I mean, Joshua's right there, you know, sitting ringside. That's a possibility. I'm not sure.

45:59Shannon Sharpe:Both of them got glass chins. neither one of them need to see Fury or what you call him or Yusek. Yusek? No, no, no. Neither one of them beating Yusek. But if Joshua and Wilder fight, who would y 'all get an edge to? Ooh, that's a good one. Me too, man. Joshua, he more of a boxer.

46:19Joe Johnson:Yeah, he's more of a pure boxer too. Just because of the skill set. One thing, one thing though. Even though he's a better boxer, Wilder has a puncher's chance. for sure he has a puncher's chance

46:32Shannon Sharpe:because we know after Joshua Chen is glass it is

46:40Joe Johnson:yeah I mean once you get knocked out it is you're more susceptible to get knocked out after that after the first time

46:48Shannon Sharpe:damn yeah so you would take you would take a water Ocho no I mean

46:56Joe Johnson:my common sense I would go with Joshua?

46:59Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

47:00Joe Johnson:Yeah, I would go with Joshua. And I'm a wilder fan. But I would

47:04Shannon Sharpe:watch it. I pay to watch it. Oh, yeah. Absolutely. Absolutely. They got about$45

47:10Joe Johnson:for this.

47:11Shannon Sharpe:Man. Hey, listen.

47:14Joe Johnson:That was worth$45. Yeah, it was. It was entertaining. It was entertaining. It's not you know, not the artistry. It's not the sweet science. But it was a war.

47:26Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Probably, I think we all agree. I think it's probably two guys that's a little bit past their prime, but it was entertaining. Yeah. Yeah. It was entertaining. Jokic outdoed Wimby in the OT thriller. Jokic had a game-high 40 points, 13 assists, 8 rebounds, 3 blocks, no turnovers. Denver snapped San Antonio's 11-game winning streak and extended its run to 8 straight. Jokic strung together a third outing with at least 40 points and 10 assists in three blocks. Only D. Wade has recorded more such games, five since blocks first became an official stat in 1973-74. It was also Jokic, seventh career aim, with at least 30 points, 10 assists, and zero turnovers.

48:13That was, you know what? They're not even in this position if it's not for Aaron Gordon.

48:19Shannon Sharpe:The job that he did, a man his size, sliding his feet, staying in front of De 'Aaron Fox. Man, De 'Aaron Fox, man, that joke ain't. He quick as a cat on the hot-tear roof. Yeah. And everywhere he went, Gordon beat him to the point. No, you're not going there. Yeah. You ain't going there. Nope, you're not going there. Made him air ball it, and then he came down and found himself, got loose, and he dunked the ball home. Aaron Gordon is an intricate piece. Yep. For the Denver Nuggets. Like, if they got him, Uncle Ocho, they probably could beat anybody in a play-in series. in the playoffs. Man, listen, this is a hell of a game, man.

48:57Shannon Sharpe:And these teams messing around and running to each other in the playoffs, it's going to go seven. Yeah. Oh, it's going to go seven. Man, I'm talking about Wimby, 34-18-7. Five blocks. Five blocks. Jokic out here just 48-13.

49:16Joe Johnson:And you saw that step back shot?

49:19Shannon Sharpe:Over Wimby? Yeah. Over Wimby? That one-legged shot, he done hit that thing so many times. We done seen him hit that shot so many times against the Lakers in the postseason. Yeah. And they're talking about it. It ain't no luck. That's his shot. Nah. Nah. He a bad boy, man. Bad boy. He crazy. It's ridiculous. I love watching him play, man. I just feel like he played. I feel like he played. I'm talking about Jokic. I feel like Jokic plays the right way. He never forces the action. You know, if he needs to turn it up, he always knows that. And obviously, playing against these Spurs, he knew that he was going to have to come out and play big tonight.

49:53Shannon Sharpe:And every time, bro, he answers the bell. That's why I say the West of Gauntlet, bro. You come out the West, you're going to be so beat up. You're going to be so beat up. To come out of the West, you're going to probably have to beat the Nuggets, OKC, or San Antonio. You're going to have to probably beat two or three. Yeah, you're going to have to beat two of them. At least two, yeah. Oh, we. Two of them. They got too much, man. And I love the fact, man, look here. San Antonio cutting the plate. Yeah, they got too much. San Antonio got a lot of guys who can play. Denver got a lot of guys who can play that know they roll.

50:31Shannon Sharpe:Like, this is an even matchup. Like, 134 to 136. Yeah, they couldn't stop each other. No. Because basically everybody was shooting a pretty good – I mean, and I like that Wimbley was putting pressure on him because he got to the free throw line 17 times. So, I like the fact that he's putting pressure. Same thing with Jokic. Yogi's getting to the free throw line 15 times. That tells me he's putting pressure on the defense. They're not settling. Nah, man. But it was a game I was like, damn. Yeah, these two heavyweights, bro. I'm talking about going at it. It's going to be funny. It's going to be very – look, I can't wait to see who the – because if we're going to talk about this, Luka, Luka, if he doesn't play anymore, he's going to be over the 65 games.

51:18Shannon Sharpe:Now that brings somebody else into what? Hold on, hold on. The All-NBA. If he missed the rest of this season, meaning regular season game, he can't – it's over with. He done. He done for the regular season. It's over with. Yep. They're talking about he tried to file a petition because he missed two games for the both of his daughter. But you know you're going down a slippery slope if you do that. But no, this game right here, this game was so entertaining. I mean, the Nuggets, I mean, you thought the Spurs had it under control and here come the Nuggets. Here they come. Yeah, they're going to always find a way to stay in the game, stay close.

51:55Shannon Sharpe:Because they got closers, they got guys who play the right way, play hard, compete, championship pedigree. It's going to be hard to beat them dudes in the seven-game series, man. Oh, for sure. And, you know,

52:09Shannon Sharpe:and Watson didn't play today. But the thing is that they got to bench. Because you look at Watson and Hardaway Jr. They got Valanchunas. Tyus Jones, Bruce Brown. They got some guys, man. Yeah, they got a nice bench. But they need Gordon to stay healthy, boy. Yes, yes. They need him to stay healthy. I'm surprised he and Jamal Murray didn't shoot a free throw. Damn.

52:40Shannon Sharpe:But Jamal Murray did have 15 points and 10 assists. Yeah. Obviously, Jokic with that Herculean effort that he had. This was a game. It was, bro. John Daly here.
