In short
Unc and Ocho react to Cam Newton’s response to Ryan Clark on “4th and 1,” arguing about football critique vs personal attacks, plus broader takes on quarterbacks, winning styles, and NFL franchise building.
Guests (hosts)
Unc and Ocho (former NFL players and co-hosts on the show). They discuss Cam Newton, Ryan Clark, and other NFL figures, but the episode’s “guests” are not additional interviewees—it's primarily their panel reaction.
Guest/figure backgrounds mentioned
Cam Newton (former NFL QB; won Heisman and MVP; played at Auburn/college and later in the NFL). Ryan Clark (former NFL safety; “Einstein” of football critique). Jalen Hurts (Eagles QB; Super Bowl winner). Lamar Jackson, Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, Josh Allen. Also mentions Howie Roseman/Jeffrey Lurie (Eagles front office/ownership) and Jerry Jones (Cowboys owner).
Key claims
Attacking the messenger replaces addressing the message; keep debates football-focused. Cam argues Hurts has more talent around him (Saquon, top receivers, strong line/defense) than Newton had. Unc/Ocho praise Hurts’ “win regardless of look” approach and criticize yardage-for-style narratives (Brady examples). Franchise success is driven by leadership/credit allocation (Eagles vs Cowboys).
Notable examples
Cam’s “unlock Petty Cam” stats jab at Clark; Hurts’ “moved on to a new year” ring comment; Brady’s Super Bowl yardage losses; Hurts’ postseason improvement after turnover issues; Eagles’ roster/Howie and Lurie; Jerry Jones wanting credit.

2:11Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, you think training camp stories would be the biggest NFL topic of the day, but that's not true. Cam Newton responded to Ryan Clark. Let's take a listen to what Cam had to say. Hey. We want to attack the messenger, Ryan Clark. Okay, let's pull up your stats. Second team, all SEC. We cannot relate. Undrafted in 2002. We cannot relate. Then you have one Pro Bowl in 2011. We cannot relate. So if you want to unlock Petty Cam and everything that Cam Newton has ever said on this fourth and one show has always been backed by merit and logic. But some way, shape, form, people keep attacking Cam, the person, or why he didn't jump on the fumble, why he didn't do this, or comparing and contrast.
2:55Shannon Sharpe:So when I compare and contrast, you guys' statistics and Dan Oloski, never mind. But as we keep going and we keep unlocking and keep poking the bear, and y 'all want to play this game.
3:10Hey. Hey. Go ahead, Ocho. Ryan Clark and my brother Cam Newton, you know I love y 'all. I love y 'all to death. Let's keep a football. Let's keep a football. Let's stay away from the personal shots. Let's stay away from the personal shots. Like, I look up to y 'all, especially in the spaces in which y 'all dominate. Talk in the game of football. Ryan Clark, you're the Einstein of this shit. You're the Einstein of this shit. Cam Newton, when it comes to playing the quarterback position, You are well equipped to be able to critique quarterbacks in this NFL that are playing today. Regardless of whether you won a Super Bowl or not, you played at a very high level.
3:53You're very successful at the position. Fellas, let's keep it clean. This ain't no boxing match. There's no need to get personal. There's no need to talk about each other in any kind of way, shape, form, or fashion. Everyone loves the drama. They love that part. Let's keep it all about football. It's okay to have a difference in opinion. That's fine.
4:12Shannon Sharpe:Yes. That's Cam's opinion, though. I don't agree with it. Yeah, that's his opinion. Yeah. I'm never going to talk about what someone did or didn't do. Look, we all had our time. Whatever Shannon didn't do, whatever Ryan didn't do, whatever Cam didn't do, whatever Ocho didn't do, ain't nothing we can do about it now. Because ain't nobody going back out there to get one more tackle, getting one more form of recovery, catching a touchdown, getting another yard. there's nothing else we can do. I agree with you, Ocho. And sometimes we do get carried away. What we do is that we don't like the message, so we try to destroy the messenger.
4:49Shannon Sharpe:Messenger, yeah. Okay. Excuse me. Ryan didn't agree with what Cam said. That's Cam's opinion. Cam looks at it like, look, I'm looking at it, and he has Saquon. He has two top-five receivers. He has a very good tight end. Plus, the best offensive line in football and is backed up by an outstanding defense. My only retort is there have been a lot of quarterbacks that had that. Yes, sir. And we never used that against them. But that's Cam's opinion. Yes, Cam, he had more – he had and has more to work with than you. But we can't diminish him because he has that. You don't believe because you said he has all these auxiliary, these, you know, he has the latest and greatest.
5:33Shannon Sharpe:He has Apple. You know, he has all this stuff when we – you know, I'm saying, we had the big brick phone. We had the Motorola. We had the little bag that we had to carry around and it was$3 a minute. Yes, sir. And then you had the Roman charge. So if you left the area, that thing was Roman. Yes, sir. I hate when it gets like this because I believe Ryan could make his point. I believe Cam could make his point. I don't... Listen, I will say this. I will say this. what Ryan and Cam doing, that is entertainment. That is pure entertainment. It's great. It's awesome, especially for the platform. Yeah, if you're trying to grow your platform, yeah.
6:22But they don't need to grow. They're growing. They're going to grow based on the individuals. What the pivot is doing, awesome. What 4th and 1 is doing, it's awesome. So what I saw from them, from Ryan the other day.
6:34Shannon Sharpe:Let me ask you a question. If you, under your logic, What do you think the most viewed topic is? What do you think Cam's most viewed topic is? What he had talked about or the Ryan Clark? It's probably going to be this one. Okay, so the pivot. What do you think the most viewed thing is going to be? Whenever Ryan fires back? Thank you. Okay. I mean, I'm going to say that. And what I try to get you to do and us to do is that we stay away from that. Yeah, no, I tell you to stay away from that. Listen, I'm – What you mean, you don't be stay away from it? I'll stay away from it. I'm on the fence. I'm always on the fence.
7:09You ain't on no fence. So listen, listen, at times, at times, there comes when you have to say your piece. You got to stand up with us. We ain't just going to have anybody saying any old thing now. We can't do that. But I would never, I would never, and I want them, as fun as it may be, being able to pick at each other for wrongdoings. And there are certain things that happen that you can't change in the past. You just can't. I don't want them taking the personal shots at each other. I don't like that. Let's keep it football. Keep the topics football. And both of them are well-versed enough in the sport itself.
7:47We don't have to go the other route. They probably don't speak to me anyway, but they're going to do what they want to do. But still, that's just my truth.
7:55Shannon Sharpe:But that's how it is. Your most embarrassing moment is probably what you're going to be most remembered for. They don't talk about Cam winning the MVP. They don't talk about Cam winning the Heisman. They don't talk about Cam. Think about it. Look at his team that won the Heisman Trophy. You tell me a team that have fewer NFL guys surrounding him than what Cam Newton team did when he won the national championship. I defy it. In the last 25 years, show me a team that won a national championship that have fewer NFL players than what Cam Auburn team. Mm-hmm. I don't think he had a lineman to play.
8:38Shannon Sharpe:I think he might have had a receiver that played, had a cup of coffee. He had, I think, a defensive player to play. He didn't have, and like I said, just go back and look and see what Cam did. Look, I know, and Joe had outstanding numbers. And there have been other guys. You look at Tua won a national championship. There have been some guys that won a national championship. What's the guy? Matt Jones and last year. but you look at that Auburn team and you tell me they should have won the national championship with that few NFL talent. So Cam has been great. Yeah, absolutely. He's been great. You can't, you can't take it away from him.
9:19Shannon Sharpe:I mean, no, but that's when he's looking at it, Ocho, it's kind of like you look at a receiver and you say, well, I like this receiver X, Y, z people gonna find fault well why don't you pick this guy well well uh if you take it serious and stop worrying about celebrations ain't no telling what you could have done you see they're gonna nitpick because they don't like that you're getting on somebody that they like so what they try to do is try to destroy the messenger right it's not the message it's the messenger yeah so if I like the message if I like the messenger I'll receive the message if I don't like the message messenger I won't receive the message and guess what in the message you know what now I'm going to turn against you I don't like who gave it to me that's unfortunate that's unfortunate hey hey what up teddy bear Okay, Teddy Bill, they all look the same now.
10:27Shannon Sharpe:Lay down. Lay down. Teddy Bill, get on camera, twin. He lay it down. Hopefully, he'll stay there. Yeah, it's tough, Ocho, because look, it's gotten to the point that people don't want us to do our job, Ocho. And I think the thing is, is that more people like us do this now. There used to be a time there was only a handful of guys that did this. If you weren't on CBS, if you weren't on ESPN, you didn't have an opinion. If you had retired because you didn't have a platform to share it, if you weren't on those platforms. Now there are more guys like you and myself that have platforms that are able to share their opinion.
11:10Shannon Sharpe:See, it used to be, hey, you ask, you wanted guys that have played the game. Because before, Ocho, when I played, you played before. Well, he ain't played the game. So how does he know? Now you get guys play the game. Now you get guys play the game at a high level. Now what's the excuse? You try to nitpick where you didn't win anything. Well, hell, I don't want everybody to win because if everybody won, that devalues winning. There should be a premium on winning, winning championships, winning conference, winning the division, winning MVP. If everybody does those things, Ocho, what is the value in that?
11:49Shannon Sharpe:Right. And hold on, wait. and also where's the value sometimes you just happen to be part of a team that actually won you didn't even do nothing yes there's an asterisk sometimes yeah all that went in there oh i got a ring well yeah you got a ring but yeah yeah yeah yeah all rings aren't created equal let's let's just start with that and we understand that but i'm not look i've been very fortunate to be on be on shows uh with a lot of guys and and you know i'm very fortunate that i won um at a high level i won championships i you know i you know went to the pro bowl with all pro and i got a gold jacket but it's not like i wear it i don't wear the rings that's not i honestly ocho i try to give my honest opinion right i i understand what it takes to play this game at a high level and it's not easy to be consistent, especially when they know you're the guy and they game plan for you.
12:48Shannon Sharpe:And you still have to find ways to make plays and make your presence felt. But people kill me all the time. I was like, okay, I'm not saying the guy is bad. I got to take one. And it's easy to say, I would take both of them. Hell, anybody can do that. That's not why they pay you money to get your ass on tv to say i like to have them both pick one oh i got that is your opinion i got better than that i got better than that you you absolutely have but you but ocho they understand that you have a job to do it's not like you dislike one you're saying based on me playing in this league for over a decade right me playing at the level in which i played very watching their games i think this guy's a little better.
13:35Shannon Sharpe:But see, people don't hear that. People saying, well, you like him, you hate that. Ocho like mangoes. Man, Ocho hate bananas. He hate oranges. He hate watermelon. No, bro, I said I like mangoes. I didn't say anything about hating the mother, bro. Yeah, I've been listening to this. And for me, what I've gotten very savvy at, which I've been very good at, is my delivery. It's not what I say, it's how I say it. yes i've matched that a little bit to soften the blow because our players during this era during this day they're they're very sensitive on they're very soon they are so i've learned how to navigate in in saying things the right way where it's not offensive to them now now this year now that i'm i'm i'm i got my feet wet so i understand that uh-huh i'm gonna be a little bit more up front when it doesn't look like it should look.
14:32You should.
14:33Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Ocho, I mean, look, it's not like you're a bum. Because they said they wanted people that played the game to critique the game. Okay, we're giving them guys that played at an extremely high level to critique the game. That's me. Yes. But what happens is they know they can't run no bull jive on us. No, no, no. Because we did play the game for an extremely long time, and we did play at a high level. So now what are they going to say? Right. You're right. Oh, man, Ocho, you didn't win no. Okay, no, I did not win at a high level. But just because I didn't win, that doesn't mean I wasn't a damn good player.
15:14Shannon Sharpe:Hold on now. I ain't win no ring, but I won. Well, I'm saying that's what they're looking at. I mean, Cincinnati, but here's the thing, Ocho. you went to Pro Bowl, you were an All-Pro. So somebody had to vote on those awards. They thought enough of you to put in your ass to Hawaii. They thought enough of you to be an All-Pro. And I led the AFC four years in a row. And y 'all, all while talking shit, while they were game planning for me, that was me. You know what has happened, Ocho? It doesn't matter how many great things you say, they only heard the bad. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They only hear the bad.
15:56Shannon Sharpe:Yes, sir. Bro, I'm not saying you're a bad person. I'm saying you had a bad game. I'm saying you had a bad stretch. So am I not allowed to say what I see? Right. People don't understand, understands that X has a job to do. He's doing his job. He's not talking about me as an individual. He's talking about me, the player, and my play on the field. You need to be able to differentiate between you, the player, and you, the off the field person. Right. I'm talking about I'm critiquing your play. Drop passes, lack of effort, terrible route, things of that nature. Getting blocked, not getting off the block, poor technique in the backfield, staring at the quarterback too long as opposed to the guy that's running the route.
16:48Shannon Sharpe:That's what we're talking about. We're not talking about you as a individual. We're talking about you, the player. Right. And look, I get it. Cam ain't going to let nothing slide. Uh-uh. Cam ain't going to let nothing slide. So y 'all come for Cam. Y 'all already know. Duck. Because the grenade coming back. He going to pick it up and throw it back. Hold on. Hold on. Ryan ain't going to fire it back, man. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Ryan ain't going to fire it back, man. So this is probably going to be an ongoing feud, which is entertaining. This is great. This is great entertainment. This is great for the pivot.
17:29This is great for fourth and one. It's great for all parties involved. Listen, me, I'm on the sideline enjoying it and telling them, y 'all, go to your corners. Go to your respective corners. Right. Keep it about football. Training never started.
17:42Shannon Sharpe:Yes. Because Cam is looking at it is that he was asked to do more. Right. Because he didn't have a running back like Saquon. He didn't have an offensive line, what they have. And he didn't have two receivers like Devontae and AJ. Yes, he, Cam, you were asked to do more. But because you were asked to do more, that doesn't mean Jalen isn't a good quarterback. Right. I mean, he's a top 10. Now, if you want to say he's top five, okay, fine. We can debate that. But a top 10 quarterback, I can't jive with that one. I mean, listen, I said it before when we talked about it the other night, what Jalen Hurts is asked to do for the Philadelphia Eagles, he does extremely well.
18:27What Jalen Hurts is asked to do within the confines of that offense, he does extremely well. People complain, and I said it, the way they play offensively is not aesthetically pleasing. He's not up Lamar Jackson numbers. He's not putting up Baker Mayfield numbers. He's not putting up Joe Burrow numbers. That's not the way that offensive scheme works. It's not the way it works. That's it.
18:52Shannon Sharpe:You do realize it's hard to play the way he plays because he has to check his ego. Because he makes$50 million a year, and now I've got to swallow my ego because I know people on talk radio and I know people on television is going to say Jalen Hurts couldn't do it. And look, my thing was I was saying he's going to have to play better than what he's playing. He was turning the ball over at an alarming rate. He was, and he was playing bad. You look at the postseason when it hit, he played better than at any point in time. And that's okay. But to say I grade game to game, and that's what you love about sports.
19:28Shannon Sharpe:Right. Because you get to update your resume each individual week. Every week. It's not like, Ocho, my resume good. They say update your resume every six months in the real workforce. But that's not how it is in pro sports. you update your resume every single week if you play a weekly sport now if you play basketball you update that mofo every night yeah you play baseball it's the same thing you understand that but people that like oh you said pro i got a new set of facts yeah so when jayla so when jayla was throwing for a hundred yards did it look like did he look like what he looked like in the super did it look like what he looked like in the nfc championship game no come on now y 'all want to hold oh oh oh he's playing yes he played better when he played better we spoke better about it yeah hey hey when everybody goes in training camp right every team two teams that reported this week on the 22nd on the 19th whatever it may be what is the end goal for every team that went to training camp this week.
20:37Shannon Sharpe:They say Super Bowl. Some of them fooling themselves. Some of them know they're where they ain't got no chance to win the Super Bowl. But lie. Sometimes those coaches say, you got to lie to them. But college coach say, hey, home, sometimes I got to lie to y 'all. The Philadelphia Eagles? Oh, they got a legitimate chance. They got a legitimate chance to go back again. Exactly. With the exact quarterback that Ryan and Cam are talking about. They have a chance to go back again. Yes. And as long and knowing Howie and knowing Mr. Lurie, they might have a chance to go back a third goddamn time. Yes.
21:11The owners, it starts at the top. They mean business. They're not talking. They actually mean business and they put their wallet. Man, let me, I'm going to leave it alone. I'm going to leave it alone. Yeah.
21:27Shannon Sharpe:I mean, look, sometimes Ocho going to a great franchise is just like sometimes being born into a great family. You ain't do ish. You just happen to be born to a family that's worth hundreds of millions or billions of dollars. He went to a great franchise. They took a look. He was second round trick. They had just gave Carson Wentz over$100 million. Yeah. So give Howie Roseman some credit. Yeah. I have a question. Give Jalen Hurst some credit that he went there, kept his head down. It's like when the opportunity presented itself, he took full advantage of it. just like he did at Alabama. And after Tua came in and got the job from him, he went to Oklahoma and played extremely well and played himself because had he stayed at Alabama, he wasn't going to be a second-round pick.
22:14Shannon Sharpe:He had to show that he could throw the football. He did that when he went to Oklahoma. Kudos to him. Right. I got a question. Yes. Can y 'all hear me chat? I know y 'all looking at me real quick. I'm just going to throw a hypothetical out there real quick. Okay. If you were to switch owners, right? Yes. If you were to take Harry Roseman and Jeffrey Lurie and put them on the Cowboys and put Jerry Jones in Philadelphia, how many Super Bowls would the Cowboys have right now? With Jerry Jones? If you take Jeffrey Lurie and Harry Roseman and you give them the Cowboys. Oh, they won, yeah, multiple, yes.
22:48Shannon Sharpe:And the Eagles wouldn't be nowhere near the playoffs. Wouldn't know where we need a Super Bowl. Absolutely. Okay. see the difference is jeffrey luring see you don't realize how good you can be if you don't care who gets the credit tj wants the credit you don't hear how roseman doing a whole but i mean uh uh jeffrey luer doing a whole bunch of talking yeah we do after you don't hear you don't hear you don't hear clark hunt doing talking you don't hear stan cronkey doing talking but that's Jerry. Look, be who, be who you are. And everybody keeps talking about, Oh, but he got three Super Bowls. He got two.
23:33Shannon Sharpe:He got two on with Jimmy and the other one with Jimmy's players. Since Jimmy, since Jimmy has been removed from how many he's got, how many times have they gotten close? Y 'all got to the playoffs. Like, yeah, we just, I hear y 'all say that every year. Hmm. Because he won't get in the way. No, ain't no question about it. No question. Even if he had Patrick Mahomes, It doesn't matter. He could have Patrick Mahomes. He could have Kansas City's roster. He could have Baltimore's roster. It's about him. You don't hear Steve Bichotti? Oh, yeah. Do y 'all even know that Steve Bichotti, if you're a Baltimore, you know, Raven or Baltimore fan, you know who Steve Bichotti is?
24:13Yeah, yeah.

To honor our country on its 250th birthday, this can of Copenhagen goes out to those defending the free American soil that our tobacco has taken root in for over two centuries and counting. here's to the calloused hands of freedom Copenhagen saluting American grit proven since 1822 warning this product is not a safe alternative to cigarettes this is Matt Rogers from Las Culturistas with Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang this is Bowen Yang from Las Culturistas with Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang you know when people try on new food and suddenly it's like wait that's the reaction a lot of people are having when they first try Kewpie mayo.
28:09It's the one with the red cap and the little baby on the bottle. You've probably seen it in the grocery store before. And if you've ever just walked past it, some people would say that's a huge mistake. Because this mayo is different. Most mayonnaise uses whole eggs. Kewpie only uses egg yolks, which gives it this rich umami flavor. It's smoother, deeper, and almost buttery. Once people try it, they start putting it on everything. Egg sandwiches, fries, burgers. Some fans even swear by dipping pizza crust in it. And once you notice it, you start seeing it everywhere. Chefs use it. Restaurants use it.
28:42People who really care about flavor use it. Never tried it? Grab the bottle with the red cap next time you're at the store. Put it on just about anything. Then you'll understand. Cupid, the original Japanese mayonnaise. Hey, sports fans. Your away game road trip doesn't start at the kickoff. It starts on the road. 29:24Shannon Sharpe:Ah, okay. Jalen Hurst was asked if he would open up his play style more now that he's won a Super Bowl. He said, no, I went a very long time being told I got to do it a certain type of way. That didn't get me the win when I did how everyone told me to. When you put so much energy into personal performance, you kind of lose sight of the main thing of winning. Since the loss in 2022, it's been my main motivation to find ways to win. Regardless of how it looks, I just want to find ways to win. And that mentality I want this team to have. I like it. Perfect answer. I know a guy who won a bunch of games and a bunch of championships doing it that way.
30:11Shannon Sharpe:Tom Brady. Yeah. Y 'all remember Tom Brady in his first Super Bowl? Didn't he throw for 150 yards? Do y 'all remember Tom Brady in the Super Bowl against the Rams? The second Super Bowl when he played in Atlanta? How many yards did he throw for? You see? Winning. But now they want Jalen Hurts to get out there and be like Patrick Mahomes. Man, we need you to throw for 400. I throw for 400 and we lose. Then what are we doing? Nothing. They just look good until you look at the stat line. The pretty person that get dressed up with nowhere to go. Mm. I almost said. Now, what good is that, Ocho? I got on my Sunday best.
30:54Shannon Sharpe:I got on some nice boots. I got on nice suit. Got nice outfit, Ocho. So I'm drafted to the nine. Nowhere to go. I ain't got nowhere to go. So he throw for all them yards, and they lose. Now what? The most yards ever thrown for in the Super Bowl game, Tom Brady has it. What was the outcome? Loss.
31:17Shannon Sharpe:505. Loss. One game he threw for 150. How many yards did he throw for against the Rams the second time in Atlanta? I think it was 2019.
31:34Shannon Sharpe:I'm trying to win. That's it. That's all that matters. At the end of the day, no matter what the outsiders say, no matter what the outsiders say, Philadelphia plays one style of football offensively. One style. A.J. Brown some days, it's going to be your day. Devontae Smith some days, it's going to be your day. Saquon, some days, some Sundays, some Sundays, it's going to be your day. That's it. Jalen Hurts, when it comes to the passing game, whatever you give me, that's what I'm taking. I'm not forcing Nathaniel.
32:13And he showed you that formula. It wins your ring.
32:17Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Man, I'm coming back to play this year, man. Fuck that. A reporter asked Jalen Hurts why he didn't wear his Super Bowl ring. His response, I've moved on to a new year. It's really as simple as that. Boy, that boy mean business. Wait, what was his response? I've moved on to the new year. It's really as simple as that. Yeah, Lee. Well, that's like some Kobe, Jordan type. Listen, I know I won, but the job at hand is not finished. my goodness. Okay, I like that. I like that. I like that. Damn. Oh, I definitely put mine on. I wore it that night, and then it went in the safety pocket box. That was it, huh?
33:09Shannon Sharpe:That was it. I don't wear them. You got hair to fade to Ocho. Yeah. They know you got them. Yeah, yeah. They don't need to have it on, huh? Yeah, yeah. I mean, I'm walking around like a wind chime. You know.
33:31Shannon Sharpe:I like that. Hey, he's very matter of fact. He's like, hey, I do. Hey, he coached by his dad. He played for Coach Saban. Yeah. The main thing is the main thing. And it's on to the next. That was Tom. What's your favorite Super Bowl ring? The next one I get. Hey, I got a question. Hypothetically speaking, when the Bengals have a football issue, you think they'll get me a ring? I don't know. They might. Sometimes that happens. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think, listen. I mean, the Ravens gave J-O one when they won in 2012. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sometimes, yeah. Yeah, I think that's – yeah, I'm probably going to get me a ring because I know Joe and Chase and Mike Brown, they're going to – Hey, listen, I might not be out there in real life.
34:21Hey, you see that stance? Hey, call it. Call it for me. I'm calling for me. Call it for me.
34:27Shannon Sharpe:All I know is I saw that man put both hands in your breastplate. Come on, sit down in that chair. Hold on, man. Ball in there. Call it. Call it. What you want me to do? Blue 17. Blue 17. Say it.
34:43Shannon Sharpe:I still got it. Ocho. You know what happens. All that dancing in one place, that joke coming up through your chin. Oh, no. You know, I don't really dance. I got places to be. I got places to be. Hey, I felt real quick right there. I felt real quick. See, that's the thing. See, that's how you might play tricks on you. You see, you felt quick.
35:10Shannon Sharpe:That's what happens. Oh, my goodness. Shiloh recently gave away 253 meals while working at KFC for a day when a fan pulled up wearing a Bucks jersey. This is the first time Shiloh had seen one. Check this out, Ocho. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, he got his jersey! The 28 jersey! The 28 jersey! The 28 jersey! That's the first one I've seen! That's it. I told you. I wrote to you. Hold on. I'm about to give you five. I'm about to give you five bags, bro. Take all these, bro. Make sure everybody eat, bro. Sign anything or not? Yes, of course. I'll take it off. Yeah, take it off. Let me get it. Appreciate you, bro.
35:52All right, this is the first Bucks jersey I ever signed. Oh, yeah? The first one. Where's everybody at? I don't know where you got this from, but... I'm about to order that throwback in here. I need to see you in that thing. No, most definitely. Appreciate you, brother. I'm going to sign the front, too. Yeah, do it. I was thinking that, too, on the way here. We don't blow my the word. I ain't even checked this. What's your name, bro? Jake. All right, nice to meet you, bro. Appreciate you, man. But that got to be a great feeling, huh? Yeah. That got to be a great feeling.
36:25Shannon Sharpe:I wonder if somebody got that number one sign because I was number one in the preseason, Ocho. How you did that? That thing might be worth some money. Even back then? Yeah. How did he let you get away with wearing number one? In the preseason. You could wear anything in the preseason. All the 80s were gone. Okay, okay, okay, okay. I didn't know that. Yeah. I didn't know that. Hey, that got to be a great – hey, that got to be one of the best feelings, man, to see people wearing your jersey despite – Oh, for sure. You know, you finally get drafted to a team and then to come in and – oh, that's dope.
36:56That got to be a great feeling. I remember not only getting drafted, my favorite moment that had me like that, how Charlotte was just there, was seeing myself in Madden. but seeing myself in Madden in 2001 I was going crazy my stats was low as hell I wasn't tripping but I was calling all my home I said I won't believe it before I'm in Madden I'm mad just being able to get being able to play with yourself man that was awesome
37:24Shannon Sharpe:hold on now Ocho hold on now rephrase that what oh pause pause yeah yeah yeah yeah man come on back with that I know, yeah.
37:40Pause, pause, pause. Hey, hey. It didn't even, hey, it didn't date. It didn't date. Clearly it didn't register.
37:48Shannon Sharpe:Clearly it didn't. That was a good one. That was a good one. My bad, my bad. Pause, pause. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No.
38:00Shannon Sharpe:Man, I was like, hey. Hey, you got me good. Man, I need to go down to Tampa. But hey, he's been passing out free meals. Yeah. I give me 20 pieces of 100 barbecue. They still sell those at KFC? Man, I ain't been to KFC. I ain't been to KFC. They still sell them 100 barbecue wings? Yeah. Hey, Chad. Can you still get 100 barbecue wings at KFC? I know y 'all know, Chad. You eat KFC? I will. Nah, you tripping, man. You better go into churches. Ain't nothing like churches, boy. And number three, three legs fries. Get your little coleslaw on the side. You eat coleslaw? You don't eat coleslaw? Hell no.
38:52You don't eat coleslaw? Mm-mm. What? Mm-mm. Okay, you know, the way you feel about coleslaw is the way I feel about my grandma, Oprah. She get them okras from churches. I can't do that. I can't do that. No, ma 'am. Do I want some? Absolutely not. Absolutely not. But I will take that coleslaw with that strawberry soda. No, no. I wonder if anybody in here from Miami.
39:22Shannon Sharpe:They don't have them? Oh, damn. I had them in 1998, and I had them again in 2002. and two. I think that was the last time.
39:38Shannon Sharpe:What a chat. Man, I've only been to Popeye's one time in the drive-thru. Popeye's biscuits? Did y 'all have Popeye's? Because we got Popeye's on Friday. We got Popeye's right there. No, I'm saying for the team. I ain't going to get... The linemen did that. Boy, them linemen don't play. The rookies? Man, they come with big bags of Popeye's when we're going on a way game? On the road trip, yeah. I remember them. Yeah, I feel like that. But see, we got Popeye's on Friday, so they didn't have the conventional meal. Normally, they have a spread. They have potatoes, and they have this and that. On Fridays, you had Popeye's, and you had pizza.
40:16Shannon Sharpe:And so they would always bring me like five wings. I just wanted the wings. Miles. I'm a wing guy when it comes to chicken. I eat the wings. Right. wings short thigh drumstick breast oh man that way every time i think about i know y 'all about something man you could tell country he tell my short thighs y 'all say thighs but yeah we call them we sure have short thighs we call them short thighs in the country short thighs so what's your favorite part of the chicken wing breast uh i love i love dark meat now when i when i go to pollo tropical you know they got pollo tropical where you from or where you at no no i don't know listen they got what ocho said i love i love pollo tropical right i always know who pollo pollo pollo no they ain't got no i don't know about the no pollo yeah so pollo tropical out where I'm, listen, love.
41:21I always get half a chicken dark meat. I love dark meat. Leg and thigh. Rice. Beans with sweet plans. And that's where I get my jupino. If I'm not at pollo, I get my churches. Three legs. French fries. I need my coleslaw. I can't believe the chat. The chat don't like coleslaw, which I don't understand how you don't like coleslaw. No. Strawberry soda. Strawberry soda and my apple pie.
41:47Shannon Sharpe:And I'm good to go. Hey, you know who got some great fried chicken? Publix. Who? Man, what you know about Publix, man? Stop playing. What you know about Publix? I know when I go in there, I ask them, when was the last time? Can y 'all drop me some wings? They's like, Mr. Sharpie's going to take us. I say, I'll be right here. Man, you done made me get up out of my seat. I go sit in the car for them 12 to 15 minutes. What you know about Publix chicken, huh? Man, hey, I go get the four wings, mac and cheese, green beans, and that roll. Hold on. We talk about Publix. Hold on. Please tell me, birthday party, you had Publix cake or the cupcakes.
42:31I ain't no cupcake guy. I don't know what kind of cake. I don't know what ingredients. I don't know what Publix does when it comes to the cake. And the cupcakes at Publix, Lord have mercy. I ain't never tasted nothing like that. Anybody in the chat, anybody in the chat that had them Publix cupcakes know what I'm talking about. Man, my...
42:57Shannon Sharpe:I don't know, Ocho. Hey, boy, that Publix chicken and cupcakes don't owe me nothing. Don't owe me nothing. Oh, man. You just blow back some memories, boy. Nah, I got this lady, her savory and sweet treat ATL. Man, she do cakes. Yeah. She doing a red velvet for my brother. Yes, sir. He coming into town on Sunday.
43:32Shannon Sharpe:She can get down, huh?
43:37Shannon Sharpe:I already know. I already know she wash her feet because she have both feet in her. Yeah. Hey, there's a lady. Oh, yeah, man. Hey, speaking of cooking, I haven't been able to find her. There's a young lady that used to cook for us. My friends and I are friends that came in town in Cincinnati. If anybody from Cincinnati sees this, her name is Miss Sonata. I haven't been able to find Miss Sonata in years. I'm talking about years. I'm sure this will help. What you cook. Unk, man, when all them boys came to town, Unk, man, we used to have baked chicken, macaroni and cheese, candiam, greens. I specifically would always ask her, Miss Sonata, please make me my yellow cake with the chocolate icing.
44:20Mm-hmm. On top of that, she had other specialties that she was exquisite at, and she would add that to the meal. I used to fly in maybe 30 people for a Pacific game. It had to be a good game. It was planned. I had my homeboys off the street. Then I had my people out the alley. Called my alley boys. Vicks, all y 'all boys. I know y 'all probably going to see this, man. We used to come out there. We used to go to the store, right? Let me tell you how I had the stadium rocking in Cincinnati. I don't mean to be off topic. We would go to the music store. You know, like the music store like Sam's or something like that.
44:59We would get whistles. We would get drumsticks. We would get cowbells. And I would have all them boys in the family section, everybody have on 85 jerseys. Everybody have on 85 jerseys, right? So we took about 30, 40, 40 dudes. Everybody got 85 jerseys on. Everybody had on Tim's so they could make the noise with the Tim's in the stadium with the bells and the whistles and the cowbells. them boys turned the stadium out. I'm talking about turned it out. They put all of Liberty City and Cincinnati up there cutting the food like they the junker knew. Them was some of the best times and when that lady, Mrs.
45:40Nye, used to cook for everybody oh man, the food was perfect. It was good.
45:45Shannon Sharpe:You ain't nothing like old home cooked meal. Like I said, I have a teammate. I wish I could find him. You talking about that yellow rice and chicken? But she cook. I see why. Reggie, I know you're watching this. Her name is Reggie Johnson. He ain't made weight yet.
46:07Shannon Sharpe:Hey, Ocho, I be over there eating. Take a play home, eat the night, eat the morning of. Still be five pounds underweight. That nigga, like, how? Damn. I ain't got no problem. But I see why he didn't make weight. Oh, that child can cook. and she loved, you know when you get a person that loved to cook? He was big, like muscle, you talk about muscle? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He was solid. Reggie was solid. Yeah. Damn. But, hey, put a steam room in his house and everything. It still ain't work. Me, I'm taking everything. I'm eating the cornbread muffins. I'm eating, hey, like I said, that child could cook.
46:49Shannon Sharpe:Oh, Lord, have mercy. If you were in Denver, and you was in Denver from 91, 92, 93.
47:01Shannon Sharpe:We had gambling. We go there, we play card. We talk with the thing. We roll dice. Mo cooking. Oh, man. That cheese with that ground beef in there with nacho. Yeah.
47:17That poor child knows she can cook. I'm a little weird, too. I don't know I'm like that. As much as I love cooking in general. I have a woman you can't cook. You can't cook. I don't want you in no kitchen. But if it's like we having something big and people coming over or something like that, now that is one of the only reasons I would allow someone to cook for me in general. But it's me and I'm home and coming home to a home cooked meal. I don't like that I don't like whoever I'm dating or seeing I don't like them behind no kitchen and no stove like it's weird I don't know why I'm like that and I've always been like that I've dated people in the past that were like I can't wait to cook for you I say no you don't no you don't no no no no I don't require that's not one of my prerequisites I don't
48:10Shannon Sharpe:yeah I mean but hey you get somebody can cook but they gotta love it yeah man I dated a young lady Ocho she could have been a chef yeah she could go to any restaurant and you could order something she could taste it she said i can make this you go to mastro's you go to steak 48 you go to any high-end restaurant she would eat it she said i could make this right go home in two three days yeah she got home you think you in mastro's.
48:50Shannon Sharpe:I said, nah, you can't cook like this. My weight went from like 238 to 250. Quick.
48:58I don't know. I don't know what it is. I've always been like that. And people, if you understand, if you ever seen me go to restaurants, you understand how I've been tipping the past 30 years, you'll understand why. I'd much rather bless the service industry. I remember
49:17Shannon Sharpe:if I have an event bingo I let my homeboy get on the grill yeah yeah yeah but just cooking me coming home after it like girl if you don't sit down and get up out of that kitchen if I wanted someone to cook for me I would have dated a chef that's it that's what I want I ain't in that for one you ain't running out my water bill or my light bill or my gas bill So sit down. Let's start there. I know what you can do. I know what you can do in the kitchen. I heard your stories, but you ain't running my goddamn electricity. 52:33Shannon Sharpe:Lamar Jackson was asked if 2025 might be the year to finally win the Super Bowl. This is what he responded to, Ocho. He said, to be honest, I really try not thinking that far because every time we have those discussions, we get to the playoffs, but we don't punch in. We don't finish. I'm trying to finish camp the right way and then get ready for the Bills. I'm trying not to think about the Super Bowl yet. I like that And I hate when reporters ask those questions Thinking so far ahead One game at a time Every player should be thinking one game at a time We already know at the end They only ask guys that haven't won the Super Bowl You think they ask Did they ever ask Tom Brady about the Super Bowl?
53:18Shannon Sharpe:No Did they ask Patrick Mahomes about the Super Bowl? No They only ask the quarterbacks The great quarterbacks that haven't won it Guess what? Lamar Jackson win They'll never ask him about 26 They won't ask him about 27 him if Joe Burrow is if Josh Allen or I guarantee you don't ask they don't ask Jalen Hurst about no Super Bowl in 25 right mm-hmm yeah he done it right yeah you won't you Ocho until you do it oh he can do that but until you show people you can do it they're gonna be on your head I don't I don't think it's a good question I had I mean you you know you know what it is We all in the training camp.
53:58We all have the same goal once we get to camp. The end goal is to make it to the Super Bowl. We already know why. We know why we fell short. Turnovers. We understand that. We all watch the game. I mean, a reporter, I know I understand reporters have a job to do. Let's talk about this season. Let's talk. Let's talk about the season. Let's talk about week one. They go they go straight to the finish line. We don't want to go straight to the finish line. Let's talk about who we got week one and who we're preparing for. I mean, but that's neither here nor there.
54:29Shannon Sharpe:It's funny. Man, I ain't thinking about week one. But see, it was different there in Ocho because we was playing in the preseason. Right. So it wasn't no thinking about no week one. I'm just trying to get through training camp. I'm trying to get through these preseason games healthy. And then when week one rolled around, I worry about week one. But I'm trying to stay healthy in training camp. I ain't trying to get no blisters. I ain't trying to get no dings. and I ain't trying to get dinged in preseason games. Because like I said, Ocho, you got 10 plays in the first game. You got probably 15, 20 plays in the second game, and you played until the third quarter, the third game.
55:05Shannon Sharpe:The fourth game, you sat out. Wow, yep. So I wouldn't – now these guys – because Lamar, there's a good chance Lamar might not play. If he plays, he'll probably play 10 plays the entire preseason. Yeah, if I'm not mistaken, I thought I could be wrong. I thought I saw something saying that Joe is going to play a little bit more in the preseason. Well, he should because y 'all start slow. So something has to change. Change something up on Joe. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just play a few more staff to get more acclimated to the game. As opposed to just going in there week one and trying to play catch up. Where I think every time the season starts, the defense is always ahead of the curve in front of offenses.
55:50Shannon Sharpe:because all they got to do is always going to be ahead of curve just like when we got the training camp ocho because they're reacting our stuff is timing it takes time to get timing yeah jaylen ramsey was asked outright if he would play safety he said he'd be willing to but also included an interesting detail yeah i'm not getting paid what i'm getting paid not to affect the game and certain and be in certain spots i like that hey that's a bar that they that is a bar They not paying me this much money Not to be able to affect the game And where can a player affect the game Best at At the corner position Well unless you're Ed Reed Well ain't gonna be no Ed Reed Nah man To me He the best safety he'd ever played And I played I played in there with Ronnie I played with Ed I got a year of Ed Troy He different.
56:46Shannon Sharpe:I ain't never seen a guy take the ball away like him. He was different. Hey, talk about a true student of the game. He can tell you what's going on before he do it. C.D. Lamb needed to get something off his chest today, Ocho. I feel like the league knows what happens when I'm healthy and I have that for a whole season. But if you don't, I will happily show you what's going to be like this year. honestly i'm a dominant receiver i don't like to speak highly of myself but i can't wait to show you guys i like cd and george pickens debuted a new handshake let's take a look at this old joe
57:34ah ah ah let's go they threw some up i don't know what they threw i don't know what they threw up and finally we got something to look forward to. If you're a Cowboys fan, you got something to look forward to. Listen, it's going to be exciting. Offensively, it's going to be exciting. It's going to be fireworks. Goddamn, George picking his elite. I almost said elite. He's good. Very good. If he got his head on straight and he keep the main thing. I'm glad, Ocho, because we throw around that elite.
58:05Shannon Sharpe:We throw around that elite. Almost slipped up. Almost slipped up. But listen, if he keep the main thing, the main thing this season over there in Dallas, not only is he going to have a great season along with CZ Lamb and Dak, he's going to have a nice payday at the end of the season. And it won't be with him. It ain't got to be the Cowboys. They don't need to be there. They don't need to be there. He can go somewhere else and be a number one and do what he needs to do. He done seen everybody else get paid. And he was supposed to be right in line next. So this is your year. Well, kicking the can down the road ain't going to help that with Micah.
58:39Shannon Sharpe:Because how are you going to pay Micah? Because see, here's the thing. You signed Micah last year before this 35. You might get him for 35. Yeah. Now you're going to have to go to 42-43. Yeah, it's unfortunate, man. It's unfortunate. All right, Ocho. We're going to get out of here on this one. It's time for our final segment of the evening. It's time for Q and A.
59:13Shannon Sharpe:true and famous jerry throwing shade at micah micah depressed two cowboy players fighting each other on the first day of training camp cowboy disappointment oh joe you you you you ready to go with that yeah you think the cowboy is going to have a disappointing season no often no i don't know what they're going to do on defense. I can tell you what they're going to do on offense, though. As long as Dak stays upright and healthy, I can tell you what they're going to do on offense, though. I know what CeeDee Lamb is going to do. I know what George Pickens is going to do. I know what's going to happen.
59:48I wish they would. I wish they would double CeeDee. And we got to understand George Pickens is someone that can go from he can hit his head off the goalpost from anywhere on the field. He can. He's special. I haven't seen him take hitches. He can do it all night.
1:00:06Shannon Sharpe:hopefully he has his head on he's in a great situation um quarterback that can get him to football yeah um they wanted him and so uh hopefully you know all the bad tastes all the things that that happened in pittsburgh right he left that there and he comes with a new slate in dallas dr frankie l bellamy what up doc hey fam just checking in i appreciate the love energy and passion each of you bring every single night. Well, we thank you. We appreciate you watching every single night. We appreciate everybody that's in the chat, everybody that's ever watched, listened to, downloaded, talked about, heard about.

Kemper Norwood Jr. said, My question is, who's on your Mount Rushmore of Atlanta rappers of all time? Wow. That's a good one. Three stacks.
1:01:13Damn.
1:01:17Shannon Sharpe:Three stacks.
1:01:21Tip.
1:01:23Shannon Sharpe:Jeezy. Ooh, we.
1:01:33Shannon Sharpe:My, my Rushmore. So don't be coming to me talking about this. This is mine. Right. Three stacks. Luda, TI, Jeezy.
1:01:50Shannon Sharpe:Yes, I know Lil Baby in Atlanta. I know Savage. I know Future. but for me I ain't leaving three stacks off and tip Luda Jeezy nah run tail that Deshaun Allen say what's up Ocho question who had the best comeback jokes between Fred Sanford Estum, Martin, Pell or George Jefferson and Weezy Weezy the best it got to be Esther. Fred Sanford and Esther. Yeah, definitely. Fred, yeah. Fred Sanford and Esther. Hey, that's classic. Classic. Matter of fact, you know what I, Young, can I tell you something? You know what I love about when we do the show during the week? Because we end around 12, 12.30. You know what come on at 1 o 'clock?
1:02:41Sanford and Son? Sanford and Son.
1:02:45Shannon Sharpe:I would go Fred, Sanford and Esther, Martin and Pam, and then Georgia Wheezy. Yeah, absolutely.
1:02:59Shannon Sharpe:Aaron O, it's good to see players with short careers getting to just do like Sterling and Tony Buscelli. Hopefully Eric Williams is next. Thank you. We're very, very excited. My brother goes into the hall, what, a week from Saturday. What is that, the first? That's the first. A week from Saturday is the first, right? we're extremely excited. I'm excited.
1:03:28Shannon Sharpe:Hell, I ain't heard him speak in such a long time. He ain't got before minutes. He ain't got the kind of time that I had. They said, get y 'all ass up there and sit y 'all ass down. But it ain't before of them, so, I mean, they probably let him go a little longer. But I'm excited. Like, Pat Dubs said, to save your life, which jersey would you pick between the Raiders and the Steelers? The most sought-after helmet, the two most sought-after helmets at the Pro Bowl, Raiders and the Cowboys. You had to, like, put a bid in, like, hey, bro, if you make the Pro Bowl, bro, hey, can I get that helmet?
1:04:12Shannon Sharpe:Because you got to realize who was going. You got Troy, the quarterback. Okay, yeah, I love to trade the hook quarter. You got time. You got Mike Irvin. You got Emmitt. Those are the skill positions. And then you had Nate Newton. You had Big Easy. You had Larry Allen. Yeah. And then for the Raiders, you had Tim Brown. I think one year you had Jerry. Who else? You had like T-Mac, Terry McDaniel. Yeah, but everybody wanted those. We were Steelers fans growing up. My mom liked the Steelers, so I think I took my first or third grade pitcher in a Steelers jersey, Franco Harris. Never forget. Because you remember Steelers jerseys to have those sleeves, Ocho.
1:04:56Shannon Sharpe:They can't do three-quarters sleeves. The sleeve come to your elbow. Hot, hot-ass jerseys.
1:05:07Shannon Sharpe:Jalen Ivey said, better season, Ocho 06, Torrey Holt 03. I don't even remember what I did in 06
1:05:20Shannon Sharpe:I think Torrey Holt had like 16 I think you had 1600 too I think Torrey Holt had like 1600 because Torrey Holt had like a stretch like four or five straight seasons he went over 1500 Hey man you see that team you see that team he was able to play for Torrey had 1696 how many touchdowns Oh, was that the same year that, what you call them had? Yeah, 1696, 12 touchdowns. And how many will Ocho have?
1:06:01Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, he beat you about 300 yards and five touchdowns, but I got to rock with you. Hold on. I have a question. Yeah. Do they understand who he played for, what team he played for, in what era. The greatest show on turf. I think, you know what, Ocho, I think, what you call him, well, that was 03. What you call him was still there, I think, at 03. Kurt. Bolger was quarterback. Because he put up some numbers with Bolgers, too. You remember Mark Bolger, Ocho? He put up some numbers with him. Yeah. Hey, listen, Mark ain't had to do much. It was Mark Bolger, wasn't it? Yeah. All that tackle. He had all them boys over there on offense, man.
1:06:45Shannon Sharpe:Man, them boys run that A. Boy, they run that speed out. Him, I, Reverend Ike. Boy, they run that speed out on you. Smooth as hell. They falling off the table. Hey, that 10 rolled to 12 and fall off the table. Mm-hmm.
1:07:03Shannon Sharpe:Javion said, what's y 'all reaction to Dante Jones' video? I didn't Dante Jones okay it was funny I don't know I didn't see it me neither what is it I don't know we'll look at it we'll try to get to it on tomorrow
