In short
Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb’s recent drops vs the Eagles; Gronk criticizing the Chiefs for “folding” when hit; broader NFL talk on film study, team meetings, accountability, and quarterback protection. Also discussed: injuries (Austin Ekeler Achilles), Patrick Mahomes’ Super Bowl rematch mindset, and Dolphins’ potential rebuild approach.
Guests/backgrounds
No named guests appear in the transcript; the hosts are “Unk” and “Ocho” (with “Gronk” referenced as a commentator/subject, not as a guest).
Key claims
Lamb should use a “24-hour rule” to move past drops and get the ball early to regain rhythm. Players chase early contracts because teams/owners don’t value them the same after injuries. Gronk’s criticism is framed as fair: teams struggle when they start blaming each other, and hitting the QB is a proven strategy. Team meetings are “performative” unless they lead to execution; leadership must address small issues before they become “brush fires.”
Notable examples
Dak Prescott targeting George Pickens 4 times (3 catches, 30 yards); Ekeler non-contact Achilles injury; CJ/Chris Jones inside-gap gamble leading to a big play; Belichick cutting a fumbler; Mahomes watching film after losses; Dolphins players-only meeting after a Week 1 blowout.

2:44Shannon Sharpe:Dak Prescott targeted George Pickens four times against the Eagles and he caught three of those balls for 30 yards. But Picken says he wasn't bothered about how often the ball came his way last Thursday. Just really staying open for them. I'm not really worried about the touches, catches, and all that stuff. I'm just trying to stay open for this team. I'm trying to focus on the first win. Oh, man. Great attitude. I told you we had that talk. You ain't going to have no issue. I guarantee you. I put that on anything. After George Picken said, I had that conversation, and we had that talk. and he's watching all his other colleagues at the receiver position get paid when he should be right in line, already gotten paid with them, and he's had to wait a little bit longer now because of some issues that he's had, boy, he's going to be quiet as a mouse.
3:30He's going to do everything he's supposed to do. And he should. He's going to come in his way. He's going to be blocking. He ain't going to be loafing. If there's a pass route, he's going to take whatever he needs to do to open up somebody else. No selfishness. he's gonna be he's gonna be selfless and guarantee his his numbers are gonna come his catch is gonna come and he go they're gonna get the ball to him they don't get they don't
3:54Shannon Sharpe:get it to him in just one week but you know it's kind of hard i mean look you had that and it was like you know what maybe you just need to change the scenery you go to a different scenery and you behave in the same manner then all of a sudden people like it ain't it ain't the scenery it's you yeah hey the leash is short on the leash is short because there's too many receivers coming coming in every single year that they will go and take your spot. Nope. Don't mess your – man, how old pick? Pick probably about 24. Man, go on and get this brand pick. Man, go on and get – hey, ain't no reason by the time you're 30, you shouldn't have$50,$70 million.
4:35Shannon Sharpe:Let's just sell the low end 50 million. You should have 50 million. Especially in today's game with the kind of money you're getting paid. Yeah. Yes. Get that money. Get your money, pick. Don't fool around. I understand. You want your catches. But, hey, guess what? Hey, all you can do is get open. They watch the tape. Yeah. They tell him that, hey, throw this ball to pick. Mm-hmm. Just put it on tape. They'll see it. Hey, damn. It's been. What happened? Austin Eckler tore his ACL.
5:11Shannon Sharpe:His ACL or Achilles? Achilles. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. His Achilles. It was, it was, again, here we go. Non-contact injury. Damn. Man, I feel bad. I feel bad. You just, hey. You just got, that's what I'm saying. When you play this game here, Ocho, you don't know. You step on the field. You don't know if you're going to limp off it or am I done for a week? Am I done for a month? Have I done for the season or is it over for, you know, smoke? Now you see in people that people in the chat. Now you see why players continue to fight for their money and don't want to go on the field, don't want to practice.
5:53And at times it seems selfish. But when stuff like this happens and you don't have that security blanket to fall back on because you understand how franchises and owners and teams treat you once you get hurt. They don't value you the same. They don't. They don't. They'll never say it publicly. they never say it publicly but you just heard from my owner and jerry jones on how he felt
6:15Shannon Sharpe:about having to pay a player that missed games he just told you they all think it but they will never say it out loud jerry just happens to be one that put it to the forefront on what they always think but just never say that's why i tell guys look your first contract get as much money as you can got to now if you want to but don't let them put you in the same well you don't care about winning because they're going to frame that narrative oh yeah and then you hear fans and then fans like he don't care about winning right but if you watch if you watch that jerry jones documentary how did fox come up with this uh the nfc package because cbs wanted a discount and a lot of the other owners said because they were the first tv rights we want to give them a discount jerry jones said absolutely not if somebody wants to pay full price they're going CBS is not getting a discount.
7:09Shannon Sharpe:That's how Fox. Fox was just a news network. The Fox had the Simpsons. They had a living color. That's what Fox had. And guess what happened? They got the NFC package. Yeah. They made somebody pay the market price. The going rate. But they tell you, we can't win. We can't win if you don't take a discount. Look here. Like I say all the time, Sharon in HR, we want to hire Sharon in HR, but we need you to take a$20 ,000 pay cut. Sharon ain't getting that job. At all. Not if I got to take a$20 ,000 pay cut. Nah. Mm-mm. Nope. So. Hold on, Rick. CD, staying with the Cowboys thing, CD Lamb said, he didn't sleep much over the weekend.
7:59Shannon Sharpe:The drops against the Eagles bothered him. I'd rather nobody else but myself be in those situations. I came up short once. We'll see the rest. Trust me. I thought about it. I've dwelled on it. I've done everything that you possibly could, that you possibly could imagine about this game. For all those that feel like they feel worst about the game than me, you're absolutely wrong. Of course. As the receiver. You've already beat yourself up, CD. Move on. You good. You good. Listen, stuff like that, a game like that, drop like that, 24 hours, unk. There's a 24-hour rule on something like that. You have a bad game.
8:35You have 24 hours to dwell on it. You watch the film, do what you need to do in the week in practice, and you go out the following week and you make up for it.
8:43Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. You got to get back on the field, Ocho. It's either said and done. You and I, we both been there. Oh, yeah. I cannot forget about that Sunday game until I play another game. And you know what they need to do? I'm not sure who's calling the plays for the Cowboys. Brian Schottenheimer called the plays. Schottenheimer, because of the drops, you want to get the ball to CD early. and it doesn't have a little screen, a little smoke, just let him touch it early so he gets himself in rhythm. And you know what happens to the body and your confidence when you touch the ball early, young. Oh, yeah.
9:16Give it to me early, you'll have me late. But the whole game, just let me touch it. Yeah.
9:24Shannon Sharpe:And so we've been there. I haven't had games where I've had multiple drops on Joe, You know what I'm saying? Like that. But I've had a game where I've had a big drop. Yeah. And even the next game, it was years. It wasn't until I got back in that situation again and I made the play that I finally felt that I had made up what I had lost. And so it took that to be in a situation that was even bigger. AFC Championship game, third and six, lost momentum, backed up to make a play. Okay. I'm good. Now I felt like I've arrived. All the Pro Bowls that I had gone through up until that point, all the all-pro teams, it didn't ease my mind until I made a play in the moment that I was like, okay, this makes up for the – can't make up for it, Ocho, but now I pushed it way down.
10:26Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. So now it's not at the front of the low. It's way at the back. There's a lot of other things good that I can think of before I get to this. This one thing that I let down because it's tough, man. When you put the kind of time that we put in and you go through what we go through, the mental preparation, the studying, the work on the field, the work off the field to be the absolute best that you can. And the more you put into it, I promise you, Chad, I don't know what you put into or what you're invested in. If it's your marriage, if you put so much time and you love that other person and it doesn't work out, you damn right it hurts.
11:00Shannon Sharpe:to unravel what we've put together for 10, 15, 20 years. So when you put in what I put in to be the absolute best I can do, be, and when I come up short, it hurt. Oh, yeah. It hurt. And the more you invest in something, the more hurt you feel from it when it doesn't go according. And so, CD, I know what you're going through, bro. I absolutely 1 ,000 % know what you're going through. But if anybody can overcome it, you can. You can. To honor our country on its 250th birthday, this can of Copenhagen goes out to those defending the free American soil that our tobacco has taken root in for over two centuries and counting.

15:11Shannon Sharpe:Ochoa, with the Super Bowl rematch of punters, Patrick Mahomes was asked how much he watched the Super Bowl on his own. on his own in the weeks after the 40-20 loss. Yeah, I mean, I'll watch every game after, so you have to learn from it. I mean, it sucks that you lose the game, but in order to progress and be better next time, you have to watch and learn from it. And so I don't know the exact amount of times, but you watch it, and then you watch it in the offseason with the team, and you watch it with the coaches, and then you watch it, obviously, this week as well. You do. Yeah. Now, I can honestly say, Ocho, the game that we lost to the Jags, I've never watched it.
15:52Shannon Sharpe:No? No. I mean, none of the watch. I wasn't going to get anything from it. All I was going to do was break up TVs. That's all I was going to do. I wasn't going to learn nothing from that game. Right, right, right, right. But I get what he's saying. I get what he's saying. You know, sometimes, you know, that's the only game that we've lost that I have no desire to see. Yeah. You also understand a quarterback that has had the kind of success Patrick Mahomes has had. You know he's a – what's the word you call someone that's always in the film room, always watching film? Mm-hmm. He's a student of the game.
16:33Yeah, okay, a student of the game. But it's something else they call players like that that have early success. It's such an early point and period in their career. God, I can't remember. Oh, man, it's going to come to me. But you know he's one of those that goes back, he beats himself up behind closed doors and looking at the mistakes he made. So when he gets that opportunity to play that team again, it's only week two, but still when he gets the opportunity to play that team again, he makes sure the mistakes he made the first time, he doesn't make them again. Now, there's really nothing he can do with that defensive line he had to deal with in the Super Bowl.
17:15Right. And nothing can do with that. Well, you better hope his offensive line is better
17:19Shannon Sharpe:or he going to have the same situation again. Situation again, yeah, yeah, absolutely. If his offensive line, now, you know, they just signed Z'Darrius Smith. Yeah. Jalen Carter didn't get suspended. The NFL said because he didn't play in the game, that served as his suspension. Right. They basically take – they're going to take his game check, what he made. Right. So they'll take that from him. But it's like, no, he was punished. And I get it. Yeah, I get it. not playing in the game, it was that punishment. Had he done it in the game, they probably would have suspended him. I feel very comfortable that they would have suspended him.
17:52Shannon Sharpe:But they was like, okay, we're going to move on with this. But obviously they had a long conversation where they said, something like this happens again, we're going to drop the hammer on you. It's going to be more than one game. It won't be one game. It'll be more than one game. And the Eagles, because the Eagles could have avoided some of his contract. But they're like, no, we're not going to do that. But let that be a lesson now. Let's not have something like this because not only do you make yourself and your family look bad, you make this organization. You make Mr. Lurie look bad. Yes. So let's not have another situation like that.
18:25Shannon Sharpe:But you're right, Ocho. If his offensive line doesn't protect him any better than what they protected him, he's going to have the same type of outcome. It'll be a long day, huh? It absolutely will. It's going to be a long day. Because at the end of the day, you've got to have protection. I don't care who the quarterback is without protection. He going to be average. You make everybody look human. Yes, you're absolutely correct. But it's going to be a big game. I think Fox is taking their show on the road. They're going to have their crew, Kurt and TB, Stray, Howie. I think all those guys are going to be on location to tell you the magnitude of this game.
19:06Shannon Sharpe:So it's early season. And it's like, but Eagles are what people believe they're going to be. People still believe no matter what. Kansas City is still the king of the castle in the AFC. Yeah.
19:25But you're getting – you're getting – I forgot, lost my train of thought, Ocho.
19:37Shannon Sharpe:it's early in the season and I don't you know you don't want to put too much emphasis one way or another you don't want to make it seem like you go to 0-2 Philly is definitely not thinking they're the king of the NFC just because they're 2-0 they know they got a lot of work to do Kansas City is like okay 0-2
19:59Shannon Sharpe:but like you said if anybody can overcome it we've seen Kansas City look vulnerable before and somehow find a way to be in Super Bowls. And we didn't think, and not only be their win. You're like, how the hell did they do that, given what we saw throughout the entirety of the season? Yeah, especially the beginning of the season. That's why I say when it comes to the Chiefs, their month of September and October, it ain't too pretty. It never has been. And they've always been the topic of conversation. One year is the receiver dropping balls. the next year it's losing Tyreek it's always something some type of dialogue on something not going right with the Kansas City Chiefs when it doesn't even matter but when it matters most they always for some reason end up going in in the party they always at the party when it matters when it's time right Gronk gets called out for being hypocritical on Patrick Mahomes and the Chief Gronk criticized the Chiefs stating if you punch these guys in the face they're going to fold What I was surprised about when things aren't going their way, they start struggling a little bit.
21:06Shannon Sharpe:They start yelling at each other and the blame game starts going on. You can see it on the sideline and that's not a good situation. You want to come together when you're down. You want things that aren't going your way. You want to see them starting to point fingers. It's not a good sign. Many on social media are calling out Gronk for seeming to forget that Tom Brady was the exact same way. Ocho, is Gronk out of line for calling the Chiefs out of, saying the Chiefs that Patriots didn't have the issues that the Chiefs are having. The issues that the Chiefs are having, the Patriots have had as well.
21:39True. They've just been able to mask it much better. They've been able to mask it much better. Every team has the same issues. All of them. I remember
21:48Shannon Sharpe:when Jonah Gray, you remember that Sunday night game, Ocho? He had like, he played against the Patriots. He had 199 yards with AFC Player of the Week. He ended up fumbling and coach Belichick cutting. Yeah, you're out of there. Man, Belichick can play that when it comes to turnovers, man. I don't think they was pointing fingers. They were saying, CJ, in this situation, why would you go inside? It's third and 14. Why would you go inside and give up that? Now, if you told the D-line, hey, bro, check this out. I'm going to go inside. You start all the way outside. I'm going to replace you. You replace me.
Read the full transcript
22:24Shannon Sharpe:Okay, fine. But you did that upon yourself and you left us vulnerable. So I don't have a problem because nobody should be too big to be called out. And that's all Tranquil was saying. Bro, you can't do that. Why would you go inside? And CJ said, hey, trying to make a play, my bad, learn from it, move on. He understands. CJ knows. He knows that he should not have done that. Yeah, if he's going to do something like that too, Unc, because at times you think about conversations, communicate. Yes. When it comes to the back end as a corner and a safety, as a corner, if you want to do something, if you want to gamble, you got to let your safety know.
23:07Hey, you need to have my back. Have some type of signal. Have some type of something. With Chris Jones, he need to talk to that backer. He say, listen, I'm going to go inside. Wherever I leave from, I need you to get my back. Right. But he can because it's a passing play.
23:19Shannon Sharpe:So he got company. He got space. You got to tell your DT. Because he goes inside. Now you got to tell your DT. We got to play. Bro, let's run a TE. I'm going to replace you. You replace me. So now we got somebody in that alley. But if you go look at it, the moment he goes inside, Justin Herbert say, thank you. I'm out. I'm out the bag though. I'm out the bag though. Yeah. Yeah. You slide down. Mm-hmm. First down. That was the ball game. Yeah. That's the ball game. And so, and that's the thing. That's the, that's what you're running to. Do I believe Chris Jones have gone inside before and gotten a sack?
24:06Shannon Sharpe:Yep. Do I believe guys have done things and gotten rewarded for it? Yep. But here's the thing, Ocho, when you don't, when you don't get rewarded for it, It's like, hey, it's like they say, I think they said the average person drives somewhere between 100 and 150 times drunk before they actually get caught once. Let that sink in now, Ocho, 100 to 150 times before they get caught once. So how many times have CJ done that, got rewarded for? It's just this one time that people are like, bro, why would you do that? He's done it before. Right. But I love the fact that he owned it. He said, hey. Yeah.
24:55Shannon Sharpe:I'll make up for it this week. I'll make up. I ain't. Got the work cut out for it because the Eagles, they're offensive line. They good. Good. They the best in the NFL. They good. They good. You got to be on your best behavior. They don't play. Hey, they got them two tackles. They're the number one rated left tackle, the number one rated right tackle. Now, Dickerson is out. so we'll see can they take advantage of that those guards Makai Becton is not there anymore Dickerson is out so we'll see if CJ can take advantage of that guard play but those tackles Lane Johnson and Maulata ain't to be messed with man ain't not to be messed with but look we've seen Brady call players out we've seen him call things out people say the same thing about the Patriots.
25:45Shannon Sharpe:If you hit them in the mouth,
25:50they
25:50Shannon Sharpe:lost. Why? Because you had to get physical with them. Very physical. That's the rule of thumb when you're dealing with a team that has a quarterback like that. What is it? Tack Brady. Hit Brady. The Eagles, how did they beat them? Hit Brady. Giants, how did they beat them? Hit Brady. Yeah. If you want to beat Tom Brady team. He is the head of the snake. Shot the head off. You got to rattle him the best way you can. Absolutely. After getting whipped coach week one, the Dolphins had a players-only meeting. Linebacker Jordan Brooks, one of Miami's six captains, losing the way we did week one can be discouraging.
26:31Shannon Sharpe:Outside noise, people talking, fans talking, family talking, whoever else is talking. Everybody talking. But just kind of making sure that everybody's together. Well, when you lose, like that it's easy for people to get discouraged and start looking questioning maybe yourself or others so just making sure that we're all locked back in and making sure that we believe that the belief is still there you lose belief you don't have nothing so making sure that everybody is still on the same page come back stronger come back next week stronger Ocho how many team meetings have you ever had?
27:11Shannon Sharpe:After week one, none. Have you ever had a team meeting? Yeah, yeah, absolutely. Remember, I only had one winning season in 11 years. We've had team meetings to make sure we don't splinter. But after those meetings, things still didn't go well. And when it comes to the Dolphins, you could have 200 meetings. you can come in there and do all the talking you want but what you have to do is on Sundays on offense and defense you have to execute the x's and o's that's all it comes down to the meeting is cool you know that that's cool to make sure everybody's on the of course everybody on the same page you have to be when you turn the goddamn film on if you're not on the same page you're not doing your specific job to help stay a team it's gonna show correct you know the meeting is cool.
28:05To me, that's very performative. You know, wait, let's get together. Let's talk. All that talking don't mean nothing. Man, put your helmet on and use your pads. Do your job. That's it. Everybody, a team game, team effort is each individual, all 11 players doing their individual job. When all 11 are working in one accord to win on every down, that's where the team comes from. that's where the winning concept comes from it ain't hard it ain't rocket science it's a very simple concept execute the X's nose no matter what's called win your individual battle if you gotta get open, get your ass open as fast as possible get from point A to point B and get open for your quarterback as fast as possible if you're supposed to hit the A gap you hit that goddamn A gap simple discipline
29:04Shannon Sharpe:I can launch we had one meeting and everybody knows the meeting that we had after the Monday night game against San Francisco with the Romanowski situation and we didn't always win but we felt we had we had to have a team meeting and it was more so about that it wasn't so much and we had lost four straight games we lost four straight games I mean we had ended up losing we ended up losing the division. We got up, I think we started like 11-1 and then we lose three straight games. Now we got to wait. We beat Seattle last game, so we finished 12-4. We lost on a 57-yard field goal. It's time expired to Kansas City.
29:41Shannon Sharpe:We lost to Pittsburgh. We lost to San Francisco. And then that happened. So I'm not so sure, even though we lost those three games, if that incident didn't happen with Romo and JJ, Right. I don't think we'd have a team meeting. I don't. I don't. But there were some things that I had started to see and everybody else had started to see that was bothering us, but nobody wanted to call a team meeting. Right.
30:13After you guys had the meeting, did anything change?
30:17Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, we locked in. We won the Super Bowl. Oh, hey, hold on. I got another question. If you didn't have that meeting, I think you probably still would have won the Super Bowl. Nah, we had started a fracture. It was – we had started a fracture. That issue that happened bothered a lot of people. Oh, yeah? Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay. Mainly me. Yeah. I got you. I got you. It was just irking me. And there was a lot of things that started to happen offensively and defensively that, you know, we had started letting slip through the cracks. guys started with bull jobbing when we let you let things go.
30:56Shannon Sharpe:And you're like, okay, he'll correct it. And you let it go. Okay, he'll correct it. And you let it go. And all of a sudden, it start with, you ain't correct him. Why are you looking at me? You ain't correct him. Why are you looking at me? So little things started to become big things. And that's why you take care of little things before they become big. Big, yeah. if you if you take care of the campfire it don't become a brush fire and that's what we had allowed to happen we had had a little campfire and because we didn't address it because we didn't put it out we were able to get it under control locho and uh we ended up taking care and doing what we were supposed to do um but we had very strong leadership and I just remember it's like bro this it we're not having another meeting I don't give a damn if the storm come through and blow the roof out the building we're not meeting again so what whatever is on your mind it now say it now whatever hey hey nobody I hope you got your arm on because it's going to get ugly.
32:09Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. You know what? That would be bothering me. You've been bulljiving a long time. Hmm. You act like you don't even care. Right. Giving up touchdowns, walking off the field, fumbling balls. Oh, yeah. Mm-hmm. That's the thing. See, when you have a team meeting and you say, hey, get it off your chest, everybody fair game. Yeah. Everything is fair game.
32:41Hey, those are some uncomfortable conversations. Very, very uncomfortable conversations.
32:55What happened? Jordan. Oh.
33:03What happened?
33:04Shannon Sharpe:What happened? What happened? No, George. As you were trying to get George to teach you, and then George said, but what happened? No, it is, Ocho. It is very uncomfortable conversation because a lot of things that were said in the meeting, you wouldn't know. A lot of times, Ocho, we say things in a joking manner, but there's truth in jokes. Oh, yeah, absolutely, always. You know what I'm saying, Ocho? Mm-hmm. Hey, man, my sister would have caught that one.
33:36Shannon Sharpe:uh dang bro that's how you feel yeah i see you wore your timbs today huh you know what i'm saying you know what i'm saying hey you said things in a joking laughing manner yeah because but everybody can't take things you know like i said ocho sometimes sometimes you can joke with people you got to know who to joke with who not to joke with yes yes some guys you got to ride you got the mofo them you got you got to really be on them right and they get it right some guys you got to pat on the back say come on now we know you better than that now son come on you can you can i ain't worried about you i know that ain't gonna happen again right all the while you said i hope it don't happen again i'm gonna put my foot in your ass you know some guys you have to talk to accordingly right you got to know who to talk to you've been around these guys you've observed them yeah see how they how they move so you know who you can and can't talk to right somebody you talk to the wrong way it's a fight yeah they'll snap on you and yeah that also goes for coaching i think that's what makes the best coaches coaches that know how to coach that way and know how to get the maximize the potential of each player by knowing who to coach hard and who not to.
34:51How to navigate around which players you can coach hard and which players you need to kind of ease them into it.
35:01Shannon Sharpe:Coach Davis always tell us at Savannah State, he'd say, I'm going to treat all y 'all fair, but I ain't going to treat y 'all the same. I like that. And, you know, you understood. Look, a lot of times Mike was coaching through me because he would ride me harder than he would any other star player. okay and and Koover's like hey you know the balls don't mean anything by that I said Koover I'm just going to do my job I just do my job bro just let me do my job all that other stuff as long as you ain't cursing me that mofo nah like I said that's the only thing I had a problem with that's the only thing I ain't got no problem with you coaching me I ain't got no problem with you coaching me hard.
35:51Shannon Sharpe:But when you start calling me something, Mary Porter ain't never called me, then you're not going to have a problem. I'm not going to pull you to the side. Now, it happens again. Okay. You don't have a problem. So, you said, so basically, you said you don't care what I say. Because I told you I got a problem with that. I don't mind you coaching me. But you're not fitting to mofo me. You're not fitting to SOB me and all that. You dumb. You still not. That's not what you're going to do. So, I had no problem. And then once we, you know, because I remember when I went to Baltimore, Ochoa was a free agent.
36:21Shannon Sharpe:And, you know, I flew back on the plane with Mr. Modell because he happened to be down there with that 2000 situation. So I took the plane back with him, had a great conversation. I remember Ozzy met us at the facility because we flew into the airport. The driver picked us up, took us back to the facility. And then Ozzy ended up taking me to the hotel. He told Ozzy, he said, Ozzy, I already got this deal. don't you eff it up he said alright alright I got it I got it from here so I went to breakfast with Shaq, Harris and Ozzy and so I met with Brian Billick and he's like you know Ozzy had already told me we want you to be you we want you to be A we don't tell people we don't tell guys they can't do this and they can't do that just be you So when I went in there and talked to Brian, he's like, you know, hey, how you doing?
37:20Shannon Sharpe:We love to have you. We think, you know, you're what we need. You're the missing ingredients. You know, guy that can make plays, a better relief, all of that. He says, you know, coaching. I said, Coach, I ain't got no problem being coached. I said, but you can't curse me. Can't do that. Yeah. He says, okay. He said, coach me, I don't got no problem you correcting me in front of the team. I ain't got no problem when you corrected me on the field. You're going to lose me, or I'm going to lose it on you if you curse me. Right. We ain't had no problems. Yeah. Never had no problems. And so that's why I said you have to know how to talk to certain people, Ocho, because everybody isn't motivated or coached the same way.
38:06Shannon Sharpe:Right. And I think the Brady Belichick was a prime example. He wanted appreciation. Coach Belichick felt that he had to keep him in his place by saying that Tom is no better than the special teams guy. Right, yeah. And I think a part of him, even though Tom realized that it made him better, I think he's like, come on, Coach. can you say I did do something good? Right. Without saying everybody played well or X, Y, and Z did good also. Mm-hmm. But that was my only thing, Ocho. That was my only thing. But let me ask you this. Yeah. The Dolphins, let's just say for the sake of our argument after three, four weeks, this thing doesn't get turned around.
38:57Ooh.
38:59Shannon Sharpe:Now, you the Dolphins, you the general manager. Yeah. What you gonna do, Ocho? We gotta make moves. we got to make moves we have to make moves we have to think about 26 27 and 28 we got to think about the foreseeable future how do we transition and turn the team around we are officially in rebuild mode we're officially in rebuild mode you know we got we got to dump a few things we got to bring a few things in we have to get some picks for the future and how do we do that by letting some of our valuable assets go. Yep. Getting money off the books. You got to get draft capital. Yeah, you got to.
39:40Shannon Sharpe:And the guy that can probably get you the most draft capital is Tyreek. Yeah, yeah.
39:49Maybe Chubb, Phillips.
39:51Shannon Sharpe:I'm trying to look at guys that you're probably not going to want to get rid of Waddle and Tyreek. Right, no. you got to have somebody to throw the damn ball right i don't think you're gonna get the value for the quarterback if you were to try to move him so you might be stuck with him mocho yeah yeah i i and i think i think you agree with me on that i think they stuck with him yeah yeah um
40:24Shannon Sharpe:A six foot quarterback with multiple concussions that can't that's injury prone and a hole and a big market out there for a guy like that. And listen, ain't a big market for quarterbacks at all. Ain't a big market. There's a big market if you ain't got one. Oh, I mean, yeah, but fine. But I don't. But that would. Yeah. Finding a feasible one. Yes. Hard. That's the hard part. Yeah. Everybody can't be Green Bay. y 'all. 44:11we had on the road. No, no, no. I would love a cocktail. Dude, Joe could get last row middle seat on a Southwest Airlines flight. Joe, how was your flight? It was great. The guy on Penn State, we were on the field, and the player thought Joe was his former coach. And he hugged him? He hugged him, and Joe just went with it. And you know, the guy goes, what are you doing here, coach? And Joe just goes, yeah. And you walk in, and it is bananas. I mean, it's a feast for the eyes. And I was like, it's not my thing either, but we're here. When in Rome. Top athletes, chefs, musicians, everybody. Listen to Paul's Best Podcast on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
44:50Shannon Sharpe:No, you're right. Aaron Rodgers could surpass Brett Favre's career touchdown total on Sunday. Rodgers has thrown 507 regular season touchdown passes. Favre retired with 508. If Rodgers throws one touchdown on Sunday against the Seahawks, he'll tie Brett Favre for the fourth most in NFL history. Rodgers still has a very long way to go to reach Tom Brady's record of 640 and getting that one. 649 regular season touchdown passes. Drew Brees is second all-time with 571, followed by Peyton Manning at 539. Rodgers has a chance to surpass Manning for third this season. He needs to throw. He has four. He threw four in the first game.
45:35Shannon Sharpe:He has 507, so he needs to throw 33 touchdown passes. So he needs to have 37 touchdowns in order to get to 540. You like his chances, Ocho? Yeah, maybe. Can we see him? If you have a performance like today, how many more times can we get a four-touchdown game from him in a 17-game season? I think it's possible. Yeah. It's possible because of his arm talent, because of the play calling. They know what he can and they know what he can't do. The way D.K. Metcalf played in that first game, they absolutely can do it. They absolutely can do it. The way Aaron Rodgers was facilitating the ball to everyone, all receivers, all tight ends, everybody touched the ball.
46:26Everybody contributed to that offensive production. So there's a good chance they can't do it. You know, if Aaron Rodgers goes on a run and that confidence starts seeping in and they get on a good roll offensively, he definitely can do it.
46:46Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, but you guys, that's 649. That's high. That's a lot. That might be a four-year total. Mm-hmm. I don't think he wants to play that long. I could be wrong. I mean, it all depends on how this, I mean, and how you take it. And once you get to a certain year, a certain age and a certain total. Yeah. Ocho, you take it one year at a time. Mm-hmm. Man, this man got 649. What a missed season. Remember, he missed the 2008 season, Ocho, with that injury. Yeah. That's crazy. Wow. the number one the number one the number for the number one over pick Cam Ward debut doesn't look great but they failed to tell the whole story Ward's completion rate was affected by mistakes from a head coach plus several drops by receiving core the quarterback however hasn't lost confidence in his receiver I'm never going to get on those guys for dropping the ball I'm going to throw a pick at some point in the season so bad plays are going to happen the biggest thing is when we get back to the huddle we always have to have the next play mentality.
47:59Shannon Sharpe:I'm not too worried about that. Those boys are going to catch the ball. I agree. I love that. See, that's why I get upset when quarterbacks try to show the receiver up. You ran the wrong route or you did this. Because when you throw a pick, I'm going to be like,
48:17he ain't got on that uniform.
48:19Shannon Sharpe:Why are you throwing him the ball? Right. You can tell Cam Ward is polished, huh? Very. He's very polished. Now, I'm not talking about the way he plays the quarterback position. It's the things he says outside of the game. It's the things he says to the media and already knowing. You know what? Calvin Ridley, he's caught a lot of balls. Calvin Ridley has caught a lot of touchdowns. He's going to have games where he's dropping balls, but he's also going to have games where he makes those plays. So I'm going to make mistakes too. I'm going to have my faults. I'm going to have my flaws as a quarterback.
48:52It's going to happen. So why am I going to get on him when things don't go well? But, yeah, they're going to be all right. They definitely going to be all right. But Cam Ward is acting like a savvy vent, like he's been playing for four or five years.
49:07Shannon Sharpe:I like that. I like guys when guys speak beyond their years. Yes. This is a five, six, seven-year vet speaking. He's a rookie. Yeah. He gets it. He understands. All right, Ocho, it's time for our final segment of the evening. It's time for Q &A. Hey, you need to tell everybody we back on it? Yeah. We're going to tell them. Oh, okay, okay, okay. You got me. I got my outfit laid out for tomorrow already. Unk, congratulations to your brother on getting his Hall of Fame ring. Ocho, I don't know why you want to fight Andre Ward. If so, I'll be on nightcap with Unk. Yeah. No, no, no. I'm going to be all right.
49:48Yeah, me, listen, I talked to Turkey. I talked to Turkey tonight. I had a conversation with him. I thought that Dana White, Dana White liked the idea, as you heard him say on the show. I won't say no, but I won't say yes. So anytime you hear someone like that, that's in a position of power to make something happen, you know, he understands. He understands the fight it can be, the excitement that it would bring, you know, to the sport of boxing or combat sports in general, having one of the best from one sport, you know, transition into another one that takes it serious. You can't play boxing. so therefore I probably am going to beat the shit out of Andre Ward.
50:26I'm probably going to whoop his ass. And that's how I feel.
50:33Shannon Sharpe:Abraham Yang say, go pack, go. I wish my younger brother would talk about me like you talk about Sterling. I'm sorry, bro. I get that a lot. I get that a lot. My mom says a lot of people ask her to say they wish their kid was as close as my brother and I. I mean, we grew up with each other. We were all we had. My sister, the oldest, she did the best job she could, made sure we had what she had when she was working. We've just been close. That's the way our grandmother raised us. Tyron said, what's up, Uncle Nocho? Who are your top five Packers all time? Oh, my goodness. Obviously, you've got to go Farber and Rogers, Don Houston.
51:22Shannon Sharpe:Don Hudson, excuse me. Don Hudson, that'll be three. Reggie White? Yeah. And then you got to go probably Star, Bart Star. You got Jim Taylor. You got Ray Niskey. I mean, you got a lot of guys that's the Hall of Fame from those championship teams of the 60s. Yeah. You know, people don't remember, but Jane Lofton played for the Packers. But I would definitely think you have to go Aaron Rodgers, Brett Favre, Don Hudson. I would go Bart Starr and I would go Reggie White. Yeah, that's a good list. It's so many. J-Dub Akron said, oh, who you got one-on-one? Leo at 65 or Ocho at 47 with one eye? Glad to see Sterling get that ring long overdue.
52:17Man
52:19Shannon Sharpe:How old Leo? Hold on Leo was 27 when I was 18 So 9 So Leo be about 66 You're probably right I think Ocho will move So I think Ocho might get it Yeah Hey man you see You probably didn't see the clip Who that? Man, I posted on my Instagram when I saw Shakur. Yeah. First thing he said, you feel like going to the gym and sparring?
52:55Man, that man. Matter of fact, see, you know how I always be on here talking about training, boxing, and not an opportunity to sit with all of them? And what's the first thing they all told you? You get that work? I done been in the ring with all of them. Now, they're not turning up, but, you know, once they step inside the ring, they don't play no games.
53:16Shannon Sharpe:Right. They're going to work. So, at times, it becomes overwhelming when we get to, like, round four or five. Yeah. Oh, my God. But, yeah, I done been in there with everybody. Babu Patel said, Ocho, Ocho paid that$5 ,900 yet? No. Hey, I got you right now. I'm working on it. I'm working on it, huh? Because, hey, I played blackjack. I played blackjack. I don't know what the hell I'm doing but the dealer help you and the people sitting next to you help you. The first night I was here I won$500. The second night I came back the second night and hit him for another$700 and I'm only playing a$25 table.
53:56Shannon Sharpe:I don't know. Your name must be Jack and you plenty black. That's the only blackjack. That still ain't close to my$5 ,900. You won$1 ,200. I know but listen I won$1 ,200. That's why I'm drinking my little energy drink right now. Oh, you'll go back downstairs. I'm going to go down there right now. I'm going to get your money. I ain't going to pay with your money like that. You might want to do something to me and then I'm going to have to hurt you.
54:27I don't want it to come to that.
54:32Shannon Sharpe:The Woods said, Ocho, I messaged you yesterday about Majority for my birthday on Instagram. Twin. Don't do it like that. Don't do it like you do, Unk, by this money. No, I got you, twin. I got you. I got you. I promise you. Baby, I got to send somebody a jersey. Remind me to check my Instagram for it, please. All right, bet. See, twin, I got you. I got you. I'm on top of that. Moneymaker G said, Unk, y 'all can ask him, pay Unk, Ocho. Shirts to Nightcap shop so we can help you get your$5 ,900 back.
55:04Shannon Sharpe:Bang Bang say, do or go to Miami, we'll take it. He can't go nowhere. Cleveland got his rights. Kim Valentino, Cowboys beat Queen Bay week four. Well, he ain't gonna have a whole lot of time to throw the ball. At all. At all.
55:25Shannon Sharpe:Renzi Flim said, would you rather start Ricky Pearsall or Q Johnson this week for fantasy? Saints gave up 163 passing yards. Raiders gave up 276. And now Brock Bowers is out.
55:39Shannon Sharpe:Man, but look up here. Oh, Mack Jones. Okay. But, hey, listen. If Mack Jones is playing right, huh? Yeah. You know what they're going to do with Ricky. They're going to feed him. You got to feed him. You got to feed him. You got to feed him. You're going to be without possibly without Jennings. You're without Ayoub and Kittle. Yeah. They're going to feed him. You got to put him in position. Defeat him. You got two.
56:05Shannon Sharpe:I'm starting Quentin Johnson. Brisbane, between the Chiefs, Ravens, and Lions, who is in most trouble with an 0-2 start?
56:19Shoot. Honestly, even all three teams he just named, even with an 0-2 start, ain't none of them in trouble. Not 0-2.
56:29Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, they can dig out of it. I think they can look.
56:39Shannon Sharpe:Lions, if Lions go 0-2, they have one division loss. Everybody already has, so everybody would have lost one game within the division. The Chiefs would have lost one game to the Chargers. The Lions would have lost one game to the Bears. And the Ravens would have lost one game to the Browns. I don't think, I agree with Ocho. I don't think any of them would be in big trouble. Back on ahead, guys, can you tell us who were a couple of guys that were tough matchups for you and why? I mean. Alvin Lewis was the toughest matchup for me. You, Alvin Lewis? Well, for me, probably Revis, easily. Yeah, that 2009 season against Revis, it was very difficult.
57:26Obviously, that front four was phenomenal, but even without that front four what Rebels was able to do nice nice if I see if I see him if I see him today first thing I always say man we need to line it up I need my get back I need my get back I don't know what we're gonna do it at we could do one-on-one just we just need

Jordan Love was 19-31, 292, two touchdowns, zero interceptions, and the defense harassed Jaden Daniels all night long.
