In short

Nightcap Hour 2 focuses mainly on a debate about Joe Flacco’s confidence and NFL teams’ decision not to make him a long-term starter, after Flacco agreed to a one-year Bengals deal. Hosts also do March Madness “play or fade,” plus sports talk and Q&A/superchat segments.

Guests (on-air)

Tracy McGrady (Pro Basketball Hall of Famer, All-NBA, All-Star, two-time scoring champion) appears near the end to discuss basketball topics (including an MVP pick and expansion thoughts).

Guest backgrounds

T-Mac is a retired NBA star known for scoring titles and elite play; he’s treated as a basketball authority.

Key claims

Flacco is called “delusional” for saying teams are dumb for not signing him as QB1; hosts argue his recent regular-season performance makes him a backup, not a starter. They note his Super Bowl MVP success but say it doesn’t outweigh years of backup play.

Notable examples

Flacco’s 2012 Super Bowl run; his “hot start then slump” pattern in Cleveland/Cincinnati/Indy/Jets; Bengals as his current backup situation; March Madness picks (Fletcher Loyer, Darius Acuff, Andre Stojakovic, Cameron Boozer).

2:45Shannon Sharpe:Joe Flacco is coming back for another season. and the 41-year-old quarterback has agreed to a one-year deal to stay with the Cincinnati Bengals. The contract is for$6 million, but could be worth$9 million with incentives. Flacco went off on NFL teams not signing him to be their number one quarterback. Ocho, let's hear Joe Flacco. Come on, Flacco. I probably do feel that way. I feel like I have unfinished business. That's part of why I'm still here and playing and doing all those things and not being one of those guys to go sign somewhere. Yeah, it pisses me off a little bit. But at the same time, I'm very happy to be here.

3:24And that's also why I don't see this as the end. That's just not how I'm viewing it in my mind. I feel like I can help a team win. And yeah, it may be in a different role here, but I do still think I can help this team win in that role. I had a lot of fun with Joe, and Joe's the guy. And believe me, I wish I was a guy somewhere. And I think teams are dumb for not having me be that guy, but it is what it is. And I'm not going to let me, I'm not going to let them or it get me down. I'm going to be the person I am and just approach football the way I always have. So how do you showcase what you can do?

4:02You know, unless Joe goes down, you'll be playing. Does that mean you can't? Does that mean? Yeah, no, I'm not even thinking about that, man. It is what it is. I'm just going to approach my job like a professional and be the best I can be in my role and have fun with the guys that I have in this locker. room so well I just I just still feel like I can just like what I always have like listen I'm a football player I want to go out there and play and I want to still want to show people that I'm better than you think I am and all that stuff just like I always have um and like I said I understand that what I'm doing here is a little bit different than that um but it doesn't mean United don't still have those thoughts.

4:46Yeah.

4:47Shannon Sharpe:He was the guy. He had his time. In Baltimore. Yeah, he had his time. And guess what, Ocho? Guess what? He was the guy so bad. He was the guy so well, they traded back in the first round to take Lamar Jackson. I mean, yeah, he has to understand how this game works. The game is different now. He's not seen in the upper echelon of quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers. he never was or like like a Tom Brady so it's different the game has passed him on not only has the game passed him on he's in a position on a good team with a quarterback that you know he's had some injuries he's had a history of injuries so this is a great position for him to be in this is a great position for him to be in because based on Joe Burrow's history there's a chance that he could get injured and you will get the opportunity to show you're better than what you may think you are.

5:40And you're able to show teams that you're still capable of playing quarterback. Now, being quarterback number one, that's probably not going to happen because the NFL has moved on. They're going much younger. And if they wanted to sign you, if they felt you were the one, you were the answer, then obviously you'd probably still be in Cleveland if that was the case. But that's just they moved on.

6:02Shannon Sharpe:Or New York. Oh, yeah. Or New York, the Jets. Or Andy. Yeah, I forgot he did. He did have a year, ain't he? Joe, you haven't been that guy for a long time. Joe, you are a very marginal quarterback. You had tremendous success in the postseason. But you do. But come on, Joe. Tell my team. Oh, he got it. He got to feel confident about himself. He got to be. He got to. He's supposed to feel that way. He's supposed to think that way. Oh, Joe. Remember, he got up to that hard start in Cleveland. And then what happened? He went to bed. He got up to the hot start in Cincinnati. What did he do, Ocho? Went to bed.

6:41Shannon Sharpe:He got up to the hot start in Indy. What happened, Ocho? Went to bed. Hot start in the Jets. Went to bed. Don't you see a real current theme? Yeah, he's not the same, huh? He's not the same. I think deep down, maybe he doesn't know it. Maybe he feels he's much better than what has been put out on film. But the film is out there. The jury is out there. At best right now, you're a backup quarterback. and you're a damn good backup quarterback. You're a damn good one. You know, so he has to understand realistically he's not the guy he used to be. And he hadn't been that in a long time. He hadn't been that in a decade.

7:23Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. He haven't. He had, oh, Joe, he, after they won that Super Bowl, Joe Flacco hadn't been the guy since they won the Super Bowl in 2012. Nobody thought, Joe Flacco has never made a, he made the Pro Bowl this year because nobody wanted to go. They couldn't get the 7th alternate, the 8th alternate, the 9th alternate, the 10th alternate. Hey, hold on. 2012? What year? They won. I think Joe Flacco came in the league in 2008. 2008, 2009. 2009 might have been his rookie year. What year is this? I'm going to say 2009. What year is this for Flacco?

8:03Shannon Sharpe:2008. Okay, 2008, Ocho. God. Damn. So this is year, this is year, what, 19? And he still think he should be the starter somewhere else? My damn mind. Hey. And the one thing we know, Ocho, this is what we know. When you really good, and you play that position, you're going to have a job, a starting job at that. And hold on now. It's only so many. Like, prestigious and being in your 30s, playing 19 plus years, and still playing, at that position, you should be thankful you're even on the goddamn roster. Thank you. I mean, no disrespect. I mean, let's be honest. It's disrespect. You meant it that way.

8:48Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, you should. How many games did Joe Flacco once he won that Super Bowl? Regular season game. He had led a team to the postseason because when he got hurt, Lamar Jackson came in and he took them to the playoffs. Easy, boy. Lamar went crazy. man

9:10I like I do like the confidence though I like the confidence he not confidence that's delusion

9:19Shannon Sharpe:and that's disrespectful he make it seem like if this Tom Brady understandable this this is this Peyton Manning even Aaron Rodgers a four time MVP a Super Bowl MVP, Joe Flacco's a MVP. I'm trying to figure out Joe Flacco has been a backup for the most part since he left Baltimore. He's been a backup. Now all of a sudden, in year 19, when he's been a backup basically from 2016, Lamar came in in what, 2018? So basically from 20, so the last nine years, he's been a backup basically. So now all of a sudden in his 19th season, He should be a starter. Teams are dumb, and he can help a team win. You can help a team win the number one overall draft pick next year.

10:10Shannon Sharpe:That's what you can help him get. I know what I can't give him credit for. I can't give him credit. When he does start, for some reason, he going a five, six-game streak, looking like goddamn hell on wheels, boy. He looking like hell on wheels. When he started, when Burrow got hurt, and they blew up. in 10 starts last year. Guess what his record was in 10 starts? What? Two and eight. Oh, I was getting ready to say it. I said two and something. The man, hey, since he left Baltimore, he fell like Lucifer from the heavens. Never to rise again. If you know the story, God kicked him out. I think he has to understand, too.

10:52GMs look at that. They look at your past records. They look at what you've done on other teams. coming in as a backup. I mean, everything is short-lived. You get some nice magic, but that magic doesn't last very long. You get you a good five or six games, and that's pretty much it.

11:14Hey, he tripping. He tripping.

11:19Shannon Sharpe:Oh, that person. I'm surprised nobody said nothing. You do, Ocho. Being confident and delusional is a skill in and of itself. To be confident and not delusional is a skill in and of itself. Oh, my goodness. We ain't got no problem with it. The man's still in the league. He can still play. Ocho, ain't nobody beating down Joe Flacco doors because they don't believe he's the guy that can help us win anything. He can help us. if the guy goes down, he could keep us afloat for three, four weeks. But ain't nobody trying to make Joe Flacco this starter. Nah. He's in a good... For him to sit up there and say, teams are dumb.

12:07Shannon Sharpe:Bro, hold on. Wasn't he on his couch for a couple of days last year? Or he started the season in Cleveland? No, he started in Cleveland. Yeah, he was the starter. But where was that the year before? Because he got picked up off the couch somewhere. Maybe that was the Jazz. maybe that was Indy.

12:29I forgot where that was.

12:33Shannon Sharpe:Remember, he was taking his kids to school and he was doing all that.

12:41Yeah.

12:42Shannon Sharpe:In 2023, Ocho, he was on his couch. Where'd he go? They thought Joe Flacco was so great of a quarterback that nobody signed him in the offseason because they knew he could help them win. And Cleveland got desperate because they got hurt and they called him up off his couch.

13:02Flacco tripping, man. He's in a good...

13:04Shannon Sharpe:Look at the team that's signing him. It's not an accident. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold on. You taking a shot at my Bengals? The Bengals are signing him up for the build backup. But when he went to Cleveland, what with Cleveland? When he played for the Jets, what were the Jets? Okay, I got you. What did he sign with Indy? What were Indy? Okay, I got you. I got you. I got you. I got you. I got you. This delusion that this man, he's been average his entire NFL career. Yes, he's had it in the playoffs. But what happens when we don't get to the playoffs?

13:50Shannon Sharpe:ain't nobody ain't nobody the guy prior to this year the guy goes to the makes the Pro Bowl in his 18th season because they wouldn't take me or Ocho because Ocho and I we had to do night camp so they said okay we gonna call Joe Flacco then

14:14damn flack hey hey you gotta slow down that's still my quarterback too now that's still my quarterback

14:24Shannon Sharpe:well if you like your chance of winning you better hope he don't play now Chase gonna get his numbers he gonna catch his balls pause football Pause, pause, pause.

14:39But man, the mere fact,

14:42Shannon Sharpe:I would not have been as angry if this man had the nerve to call 31 other teams that did not sign him dumb. I mean, think about some other teams that need a quarterback. What teams actually need a quarterback right now? Not that quarterback.

15:04oh the jury is out he held the raiders uh ain't no jury out they done came back with arizona they came back with the verdict 10 years ago i'm trying to think joe flacco is no longer

15:18Shannon Sharpe:quarterback that can help us win a championship who else as a matter of fact it's done been It's been appealed. It's done went to the appellate level. It's been appealed all the way up to the Supreme Court. Those nine men and women have already set the ruling down. It's final. It's a – damn. Joe Flacco's a guy. Congratulations. He played 19 years. Congratulations. We don't do lifetime achievement here. This man, he still – look, he's gotten a lot out of that Super Bowl. And that says something because it's not easy to win a Super Bowl. I'm not going to sit here and pretend. He played phenomenal.

15:57Shannon Sharpe:He went on the road and beat Peyton Manning. He went on the road and beat Tom Brady. He beat Andrew Luck at home. And then he beat Colin Kaepernick, who's one of the hottest quarterbacks in the NFL in the Super Bowl. So I'm not taking that away from it. But in the process of winning a Super Bowl, which he earned, he did that. That team did that. He was a part of a winning team. he did that but what am I supposed to do with all this regular season since then what am I supposed to do with the regular season before then but you also have to understand why he's still getting jobs too huh even if it is a backup because he's being able to coattail off of that Super Bowl championship off of being that Super Bowl MVP we hope he don't have to play look I can say it Ocho if he has to play we can get three to four games he'll win one or two games for you.

16:51Shannon Sharpe:The problem is when it goes, he has to play the end of September all the way through midway November. Yeah. Well, hopefully goddamn Joe is able to stay upright and stay injury-free this year until we ain't got no problems. That would definitely help y 'all calls. You believe that you guys are going to get better defensively? You believe that? We trended in the right direction.

You know I ain't missing no soccer game. I don't know. I might stand you up for that one.

24:09Shannon Sharpe:it's time for our final segment of the evening it's time for q and a hey that was a good one

24:23Shannon Sharpe:uh before we get to the super chats we've got a video voicemail from our discord this one comes from tj let's take a listen what tj had to say What's up, Nightcap family? Jeff want to say what's going on. Been watching you guys since day one. Want to say what's up to Ocho, Unc, and Isojo. I appreciate what you guys doing for a young brother like myself out here in this harsh world. many nights your words have uplifted me, made me laugh, made me think about them, and helped me think about my life as a man. Just want to let you guys know that you're doing something great and special. Keep going.

25:03What are you guys doing to bring somebody else along to

25:08Shannon Sharpe:the bed, interviewing some young men, and see where you can take them in life?

25:18Shannon Sharpe:we do have an internship program where we take, basically we take normally two, I think it's two to three. It was two. One this year. We take one person from an HBCU and we let them see how the business works, see if there's something that they want to do. They want to produce, be on the producer side. They want to do graphics. They want to do editing, social, whatever the case may be. We bring them in and we try to give them behind the look of what it's actually like and what it entails in order to get into this business. And let them see how much work actually comes along with this, Ocho. So that's kind of what we do.

25:57Shannon Sharpe:I get people from time to time, guys reach out from time to time and ask me questions. I don't volunteer information anymore, Ocho. Yeah, why not? You know, because it's just better if people reach out. I think it's better received when people reach out. It'll be better received because I don't want people that, well, ain't nobody asking you for that. So I was just like, you know what? You're right. You're exactly right. He didn't ask me for that. I should keep my damn mouth shut. That's what I do. So when guys reach out, I have no problem picking up the phone. They're like, hey, can I have your number?

26:28Shannon Sharpe:I want to ask you when we run something by you. I shoot them my number. They hit me up. We have a conversation. Goes no further than them and I having a conversation. But, yeah, that's kind of the approach that TJ, that we take. I do try to give back to my HBCUs because I think some of them do want to get into this line of work and maybe they don't have the same advantages as some of the other schools do. So that's my way of trying to give back. Yeah. Sam Lillard said, Flacco done got on the unkskin so bad he done went billy cologne. I don't like the fact that he talked about teams are done for not signing him.

27:06Shannon Sharpe:Nah, they smart.

27:11Shannon Sharpe:Hey, can a bridge quarterback and a running offense, maybe Arizona, if they draft a QB? Wait, say that again? He said, oh, I guess he's talking about Flacco. Flacco could be a bridge quarterback and a running off, I guess, if Arizona drafts a quarterback. So they said, like, he could be the bridge. But even a bridge, teams are trying to win. Hold on. Wait, back to that question. how many teams in NFL are running teams anyway in this past Happy League because you can't win running the ball this ain't the early 2000s it's not the 90s it is absolutely not it is absolutely not Ocho

28:00Shannon Sharpe:I promise you if Arizona thought Joe Flacco was the answer

28:07Shannon Sharpe:Kevin Boatnight What's up, Nightcap? Your boy, 46 today. Had a blast with the wife. Enjoyed my day, my weekend, and enjoyed my Shea Bilele Poitier. Happy birthday. Thank you. Thank you, bro. Happy birthday, my boy. Happy 46th birthday, man. You and the wife, y 'all did something. I know you on the spot. You know, hey, were you ready to perform? As you saw Tom Brady this weekend, he still got it. Them bro sparks, have a thinking. You still got it. I'm telling you, they won't let you down. But happy birthday, bro. Thank you for the support. Because you jump in the chats all the time. I see your name in the chat, the super chat.

28:46Shannon Sharpe:So, man, we really, really appreciate that. Wazoo, imagine Pistol Pete in this era. Bro. Y 'all do realize, like, Pistol Pete shot like 41%, 42%. He was shooting the ball like 37, 38 times a game. Jesus. Yes. He averaged 44, but he was taking him damn near 40 shots to get it. And it was fancy, fancy. Look, nobody shot high percentages back then. Guys are better. It's called evolution. Guys, there are more guys that can shoot the ball better and do things better than what it happens. It happens in baseball. I mean, baseball now. Guys don't hit for average because now they've changed it. They just want you to hit the ball over the fence.

29:31Shannon Sharpe:So guys are swinging, trying to get no singles, no doubles. They ain't tried to move the runner. They tried to move the runner around the base pads. Bill hitting the ball over the fence. But basketball, Ocho, these guys, there are more guys that can shoot the ball at a higher clip than what they could in the past, and that's okay. Brennan Thomas, 4134. Hey, y 'all. My wife, Gabrielle, and I had our eight-year anniversary on Monday, and she's been my ride or die from the very beginning throughout my military career. Can you guys give her an anniversary and appreciation shout out? We absolutely can.

30:07Shannon Sharpe:Gabrielle, thank you. Thank you for allowing Brennan to be the best he can do and protect us. Because while we get an opportunity and a lot of men and women in this country, it's people like your husband, Brennan, that goes out there and makes sure we sleep well at night. So we're glad he's on that wall. And you, Gabrielle, thank you. Because you hold it down. and for him to get on here and ask us to give you an appreciation shout out, not just an anniversary, an appreciation for what you do. Because, you know, a lot of times these military families, they have people that are counting on them and want them to see them come home.

30:45Shannon Sharpe:And that sometimes goes unnoticed. But we just want you to know, Brennan, it doesn't go unnoticed here at NICAP. We appreciate you, and we appreciate you, Gabriel, for allowing him to be the best he possibly can be. So happy anniversary and happy appreciation. Salute. G-Mac 2, the last greatest pro game with high competition with the 2024 Olympics, U.S. versus Serbia and Paris. You meant the French team. It was in Paris, hands down. It was. It was great. They were down basically the whole game by Serbia. It was down by as many as, I think, 12, 14 points. And LeBron and Steph and KD said, nah, we ain't losing this.

31:28Shannon Sharpe:You're not. that's the game Steph went crazy with the back to back threes that was no that was France

31:43Shannon Sharpe:that was France but that was great game and whoo that was too close for my liking

31:58hold on

31:58Shannon Sharpe:I'm looking for something on Joe Hold on, let me use the bathroom. I drank too much water. Go ahead. I drank a bunch too.

32:08Shannon Sharpe:But I'm going to let you have it though.

32:17Huh?

32:19Shannon Sharpe:No, no, no, no, no, no.

32:30Made from when your elbow's deep in an engine block.

35:42Somebody said in the chat, because I said Pete Maravich was shooting the ball 38, 39 times.

35:49Shannon Sharpe:And somebody said, that's a lie. If y 'all go look it up, Pete Maravich is a sophomore. Shot the ball 39.3 field goal attempts a game. His sophomore year, that was his French sophomore year because freshmen couldn't play back then, Ocho. And then he shot the ball 37.5 times per game. And then he shot the ball, his last year, he shot the ball 37.7 times a game. He made 16 of those field goals. So he shot 42%, 44%, 44%. see y 'all jump in the chat and y 'all just say anything do y 'all realize that when i come here i come prepared now i had no idea that we're gonna talk about pete maravich but i've read enough just in case some smart ass think they can throw some stuff out there that can stump me you can't you can't stump the swap you can't now go look it up now i said he shot the ball 38 39 times did i not tell you that you said that now i'm just going back from stuff from from years ago reading about this because i'm like how in the hell is this man scoring averaging 40 something points a game how many times did he shoot the ball granted that as a guard you're not shooting no high percent considering most guards you're taking a lot of shots a lot of shots some of those shots for distance.

37:11Shannon Sharpe:Naughty man. Now, I'm just saying. Now, you jump back and put something else in the chat.

37:24Shannon Sharpe:That's what I'm saying. I don't know. Ocho, what it is, Ocho. I do some, not all. For the most part, most of our chat. But what is it about some people that jump in the chat that don't want to try to prove me wrong? They're trying to question your basketball acumen, your basketball knowledge. I mean, when it comes to that, even though you play football, I'm not sure at this point why they even question that. That would be like them questioning my football knowledge or, hell, even questioning my soccer knowledge. Because the funny thing about it is, which is kind of weird, is I can talk soccer, the history of the game, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, and currently, better than I can football.

38:10which is weird. Yeah.

38:14Shannon Sharpe:But I'm saying, but the thing is, Ocho, to be good, to get, because I've always, I've always liked sports. But I, and I think the thing is, because when I went and did, when I did, when I first did first take, the first time I went on first take, I didn't have a producer. I didn't have nobody. I didn't have nobody give me information. I just went up there and whatever Skip wanted to talk about, we talked about. And I'm just putting stuff off my head. and he's looking at me, he's like, and the producer's looking at me like, and then I come back again. They're like, well, you guys are like, I'm good.

38:49Shannon Sharpe:They're like, what do you want to talk about? I say, whatever you want to talk about. I do, I want to talk about, but then I understood. So to read, but y 'all got, I'm almost 58. A lot of the stuff that I be talking about, I watched. I saw it. I've read about it. I read when it used to be with sports. I mean, I read and was consumed with it. Because I wanted to do something in this field. Yeah. Yes, I might mispronounce this or get a year off. You know, like I was like, I think Flacco 2008, 2009. I said, let's go with 2009. Okay, I was off a year. But I have a pretty good idea. Because I think it's my job.

39:34Shannon Sharpe:And I know somebody, you're talking about, oh, you got to reach. I said, first of all, a lot of stuff that I'm throwing, that I don't know what we're going to talk about, and I don't know if it's going to come up. So we might be talking about something, Ocho, but I don't know if Ocho's like, well, such and such, what year was that? I don't know what you're going to ask me. I don't know what the chat's going to ask me. But I have to have a pretty good understanding, like basketball. When I was telling, I was like, Joe, the really first buzzer beat that I remember in March Madness was US Reid hit a shot.

40:05Shannon Sharpe:I think it was like 81 against Louisville. Ash looked it up, and I can always tell where Ash dropped a head. But I'm just saying, I'm just like, look, guys, I mean, I'm just trying to give you the best information I possibly can. And I'm just saying, and I'm not trying to diminish what Pistol Pete did. He did that. But I'm saying, he shot the ball 39 times a game. Oh, that's crazy. he he was he was good though huh he was good even though he had oh yeah yes he was ahead of his time because he was flashy the way he'd be dribbling the ball and do yeah yeah yeah yeah and then you know do all that stuff if he was the one of the first one behind the back passes and then he cuff it like he's going back with it and then he laid up he was shooting from distance and they didn't have the three-point line so it would have been interesting to see how many points he would have actually averaged had he had to head the three-point line okay because he shot from that's why he didn't shoot such a high percentage he shot a bunch but he was shooting from distance

41:15Shannon Sharpe:uh hometowny yo um so now the two lovely foreign ladies when you talk about houston are you admitting Houston Miami because when I was in Miami I was like oh food me yams oxtail mac and cheese is crazy so he's asking are you saying Houston and Miami are the equivalent no no I think when you when you come here to Miami you hear me they got a smorgas board you talk about smorgas board yeah it's a buffet huh you hear me yeah so you You're talking about they got Dominicans, they got Puerto Ricans, they got Cubans, they got Colombians, they got Americans, they got Russians, they got Ukrainians. It doesn't matter what you want.

42:02It's a United Nations of women. Every ethnicity you can think of is here. It's a melting pot for that. When you go to Houston, it's us. It's a lot of us. It's for us, by us. And man, listen. I don't know what God, I I still don't understand how people can live in Houston. For those that do live there, I'm not sure how you have the discipline to do so over time. But, man, it's a sight to see, y 'all. It's a sight to see.

42:39Shannon Sharpe:JJ Carbasso petitioned to get Ash and Teva raised when the channel hits 2 million subs and another raise when the channel hits 1 billion views. Let's get it. Show wouldn't be the same without them either. Absolutely. I think all the, you know Oh no, they good They good Hey, when we hit 2 minutes Let's give the graphic team I don't know who you do I'm in public They don't even talk about the show no more They asking who do the goddamn graphics Hey boy, that was funny man I sat next to somebody on the goddamn plane Boy, 20 minutes was a conversation on the graphics and they show me all the different ones we've used so far.

43:25Shannon Sharpe:Oh, yeah. They, you know, look, teamwork hard. So, you know, when we can get a day or two here or there, we definitely try to let them get a chance to decompress. You know, now we're Wednesday and we're going all the way to next Monday. So, you know, they do work hard. They work incredibly hard, and I'm definitely proud of the team that we put together here. So hopefully we can continue to work. Barrett Gang, the reason so many people have an issue with BAMS 83 is because it's about as impressive as the 2024 All-Star game, the 211-186. It was so exciting that they changed the format. I get it.

44:16Shannon Sharpe:But let me ask you a question. How many other people other than Bam have ever scored 80 points in a ball game? Wilt got 100, and I think it was 62, and Kobe in 2005. Well, it was January 06. Maybe the 22nd. What day that was Kobe scored them 81 points? I think it was January 22nd of 2006. because it was the same day the Broncos lost to the Steelers in the AFC Championship game. Oh. I'm sorry, Ash. You ain't got to shake. You see how Ash do me, Ocho? She didn't come out to the January 22nd tonight. Damn. But I just remember because the Broncos had played the Steelers and they lost in the championship game on their home field.

45:09Shannon Sharpe:Ben was a second-year quarterback.

45:15Shannon Sharpe:I don't know. I don't know. I mean, other guys have tried to feed the ball. You know, like T-Mac brought up a David Robinson scoring 71 and 94 against the Clippers. They forced fed him the ball because they wanted him to get the record. No, they wanted him to win the scoring title. Oh, he'd be Shaq out. He'd be Shaq out for the scoring title. That happens, guys. It's okay. Hey, if you look at Bam's 83, and if it takes any luster off of Kobe's 81, I don't know what to tell you. It doesn't. I don't think any, I was like, well, Kobe's 81, that ain't impressive, not helpful.

46:04Will you go?

46:15Oh, the chat can still hit me. Oh, hey, chat. Unk is working on some technical difficulties. Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, chat. See, Unk's computer died, so he's going through some technical difficulties right now. So we're going to get him hooked back up. But in the meantime, I'm going to carry on. And boom, we talk about BAMS 83 points. Obviously, you know, my basketball knowledge is nowhere near that of Vunks. But being that only two other people have done it before, obviously no matter how it was done, history was made. Some people it's not going to sit well with, obviously. And hell, it's a feat.

46:56It's a feat. He made history. It is what it is. It doesn't take anything away from what Kobe did and the way Kobe got his. It doesn't take anything away from Wilt and the way he got his, even though there's been no footage of Wilt actually doing it. But I guess people don't see fit the way Bam scored his 83. But history's already been made. There's nothing we can do about it. Unk, you can see me? Unk, I can see you.

47:35Chat, we got Unk. We got Jordan there trying to get together over there. I would have a joke, but I didn't prepare one for the night.

47:48Shannon Sharpe:Can you hear me? That's a Jordan. I don't even come in this room. Jordan come in the room because everything on and the computer died. That's all Jordan. Yep, I'm telling you. Nope, I ain't good. That's Jordan. Ain't no technical. I ain't taking no blame for that. You did that. You're talking about taking the blame. Nope. I just called it. He was driving. I called it technical difficulties. It wasn't technical. Hold on. Hey, hold on. You see my light died in the middle of the show earlier. Yeah. I say, well, damn. They just went black. I said, well, damn.

48:35Shannon Sharpe:But look, I'm a firm believer, Ojo, is that somebody's accomplishment doesn't dim somebody else's accomplishment. Doesn't. If I win an award, somebody else win 10 of them, okay, I'm happy for you. It don't take no shine off my work. Yeah, you still got yours. I got one. And it don't matter how you got it either. You got it. Sure don't.

49:01Shannon Sharpe:Real Sports Talk What do you guys think about Dan O D.O. Dan Olowski Saying Simpson over Mendoza That's his pick I thought he was playing I thought he played well I thought he kind of regressed towards the end of the year Where he didn't play well But we'll see That's the thing about it I don't know what Dan is looking at I love Dan Dan I love I love his takes I love his knowledge about the position and obviously you don't need to be Tom Brady to be able to talk about the game when you watch film and you excel very well at watching film and watching players and being able to make an assessment on what you think they're going to be at the next level but to even say Ty Simpson is better than Mendoza based on the sample side that we've seen from Mendoza in his senior season at Indiana is ridiculous that's a horrible take that's that's that's a horrible take like come on dan you you you come on now i understand you might like the kid i understand you might like you might want to you know pump him up for whatever reason being that your voice and your platform might hold some type of weight when it come to the draft process but he's he's not mendoza and if if he was anything like that i think the alabama crimson tide would have looked a little better in certain games where he should have been able to take over and elevate that team when things weren't going well, and he didn't.
