2:00Shannon Sharpe:at s-e-n-t-r-y dot i-o well speaking of what's that what uh your boy gonna have to go up under
2:14I got a partial tear of my medial meniscus.
2:28Shannon Sharpe:Oh man.
2:32Joe Johnson:That's in your knee, huh? Right here. Dang.
2:37Shannon Sharpe:Are you sure you need surgery? Well, I got to go see the orthopedic. I got an MRI yesterday. And they gave. What did they say? I already know. I'm bone on bone on the lateral. Right. With arthritis, severe arthritis. But I got a slight chair. I still got some cartilage in the medial side. So I'm going to see what they're going to do. Do they're going to go in there and cut and snip? What are they going to do? Are they going to do a complete repair? Or do they cut and snip? uh-uh.
3:06Chad Johnson:Man, you trying to catch up with your boy under that knife. Damn. Oh.
3:14Shannon Sharpe:I might have been bowling. Oh, so you did it when you were bowling?
3:20Chad Johnson:Oh, man.
3:21Shannon Sharpe:Man, why don't I sit like that? Man, why don't I sit like that? My ish was on fire. Okay, okay. And then, because think about it, we did all that in one day, and then all that standing for Netflix.
3:35Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah. It didn't swell.
3:39Shannon Sharpe:It didn't swell. It didn't swell. It was sore. But I just noticed, I was like, well, damn. How the? I was like, man, it just hurt so bad. First, when I got home, I had to go up the stairs. I was like, well, damn, my knee hurting. But I was like, you know what? Hey, I've been on the plane. I've been standing. I just flew six hours back cross country. I was like, I'll be all right in the morning. and boy I tried to come down the steps man I like my dog I was scooting down the step one two three
4:11Joe Johnson:hold on hold on I got a question right you know health is health is what's most important but does this mean we not doing nightcap outside no more
4:25Shannon Sharpe:we are we just uh uh you know we just had to you know take a couple of take a couple of days off i'll be back i'll be back better than ever and i was just okay getting into a swinger thing i'm doing my cardio i'm getting six hours right right a week i was like i was feeling so good yeah man damn oh that's it but i knew something was wrong i told myself i'm getting there all right she said what's wrong she said probably just i said nah maybe something wrong i said i think i I tore my meniscus. She's like, how? I said, I don't want to tell you.
5:01Chad Johnson:Hey, hey, hey, hold up, hold up. Hey, when we had them injuries, we be knowing. Because boy, let me tell y 'all something. When I tore out, when I blew out this patella tendon,
5:13Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.
5:14Chad Johnson:You know what happened? I got right on the plane, so you know - Oh, it's swollen, oh my goodness, Joe. It's swell up. But when I got home, my lady told me, I was like, oh, you gonna be all right. Put some ice on it. I'm steady telling him, I'm like, man, let me tell you something. This thing here ain't right. I ain't never felt like this. Did it roll up, Joe? Did it roll up your quad? Yeah, it rolled, not all the way, but it rolled up enough to where, like, if I'm sitting straight, if I'm sitting, I can't lift, I couldn't lift my leg at all. Yeah. You know what I mean? I could still walk, and I could tell because I'm walking the stairs, I'm like, every week it kind of kept getting better, but I'm like, Like, it wasn't good enough to be out there doing no moving in the clip.
5:55Chad Johnson:Oh, no. I can tell you that. So I went on, got that MRI, and it was a wrap. Man, man, you talking about getting up,
6:03Shannon Sharpe:going to the bathroom, Mocho? Because once that leg be done, that thing be done. Boy, I was like, Lord, how is it? I said, I need to let some plastic down. I should just pee in the bed.
6:12Chad Johnson:It's my bed. Yeah, it's, hey. Hey. Hey. With this patella, boy, it'll hang you thinking there for real.
6:20Shannon Sharpe:Man, I thought I was like, ooh, Lord. I mean, I really truly try to stop. I'm in Con's chat. Y 'all know I used to drink tea. I mean, I used to drink, you know. Man, I try to stop drinking water by 5 o 'clock. I eat at 7.30, just eat a plate of food and no water. No drink, no nothing.
6:38Joe Johnson:So you ain't got to get up, huh?
6:40Chad Johnson:Hold on. Hey, Ocho, with this patella, they gave me this big jug. Yeah, you ain't going to be, because the first couple days, you can't even get out of bed. You just got to keep it straight.
6:51Shannon Sharpe:They gave you that goose, huh, Joe? You don't know what they gave you that goose like they would give you in the hospital? Boy, listen. Hey, I had that thing filled up. Because you know now, they won't let you leave unless you pee. The hospital. They won't? Nope. So I was like, hey, go on and give me that goose.
7:15Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah, you're going to, yeah.
7:18Shannon Sharpe:Mr. Sharp, you need some help? No, I need y 'all to get up out of here.
7:23Shannon Sharpe:I need y 'all to get up out of here. And when y 'all come back, I have something for you. When I did my hips, Joe, when I did my hips, I got my hips done, I probably got them done at like 10. It's like an hour and a half surgery. So they take you down to the recovery room. They like, Mr. Sharp, Mr. Sharp.
7:42Chad Johnson:Right, right.
7:43Shannon Sharpe:I can hear Shelly, Shannon, Shannon. I said, yeah. I said, it's over with? She's like, yeah, your surgery done. You did well, Mr. Sharp. I'm like, has anybody done bad in surgery? But okay, I would take your word for it. You said I did good. Okay. It's like, well, Mr. Sharp, I mean, as soon as you can get up and walk, you got to walk up and down a flight of stairs, you know, three times, walk down the hall, and we'll let you go. I said, excuse me? It's like, yeah, if you walk up and down the hall and fly the stairs a couple of times, we'll let you go. I said, Sheila, help me get up. Yeah.
8:25Shannon Sharpe:That's a help me get up. I'm down here. I'm getting up out here. You ready to go, huh? Absolutely.
8:29Chad Johnson:And that was tough, though. What? Joe, man.
8:33Shannon Sharpe:But, and the doctor told me, he said, Mr. Sharp, he said, you're not going to feel any pain. He said, the only pain you're going to feel is where we actually went in. Because they go in, take the ball out. You know, you got a ball, like a big gumball. They take it out. He's like, Mr. Sharpe, you want it? I'm like, what the hell I'ma do with it? I mean, it ain't no trophy to me, old JoJo. It ain't no trophy. Man, throw that issue away. So, man, I got up there, Shelly helped me down. Whoop, whoop, I walked up and down the face. She's like, slow down, you're gonna fall. I said, man, please, I need to get up out of here.
9:10Shannon Sharpe:I walked up and down. Hey, I'm like, Doc, y 'all looking?
9:18Shannon Sharpe:They was like, Mr. Sharp, but they won't let you walk out of the hospital. They put you in a wheelchair. Cause we got, you know, they're not fit to fall on their watches and own the hospital. So they put me in a wheelchair, walk me to the thing, man, I jumped in there so quick. Then they gave you all these instructions, no driving, no operating, no heavy machinery, blah, blah, blah. But three days I was driving, I drove myself to rehab. Hey, hold on though.
9:46Chad Johnson:When they numb and stuff wore off, how was your idea? You had to take pain medicine everywhere.
9:52Shannon Sharpe:Well, what happened was, Joe and Ocho, they gave me something that I had allergic reaction to. So I ended up having to get rushed to UCLA Medical Clinic. I'm just breaking this news to y 'all. Y 'all didn't know this. So I'm glad that nobody see me. But I had to go because I had allergic reaction. hives everywhere face swollen damn i'm talking about everywhere i'm talking about arms torso all down my back and my throat started to close so i had allergic reaction i don't they don't know what they said well with mr sharp we would literally have to give you a dose some of everything that we gave you to find out what the reaction to so they would literally have to stick me wait 10 minutes to see if that caused it stick me i said oh hell no i'm good we'll figure it out I said, just give me, guess what?
10:43Shannon Sharpe:Go back, have the other one done. The same reaction. What? Yup, the exact same reaction.

11:00Joe Johnson:I'm just saying. Chill, chill. This is, this is.
11:03Chad Johnson:Hey, hey, hey, this is a sister's subject, bro. This is sister's subject.
11:07Joe Johnson:I know, I know, I feel you, I feel you. I commend you. I commend you. You know. Joe, they talk about you putting Bill to me.
11:13Chad Johnson:Bill, oh man, come on, man. Hey, come on now. Come on, come on. Hey, once I get this thing back, oh, rematch, it's on.
11:22Shannon Sharpe:Hold on, hold on. How long are we talking? How long are you down? It all depends. It all depends on what they do. I mean, it could be three to four weeks. It could be three to six months. Damn.
11:36Chad Johnson:Hey, listen, let's stick to like some shooting pool throwing - Oh, man, shooting pool.
11:41Shannon Sharpe:Hey, boy, I'm Efren Reyes and Earl Strickland. You don't want none of this in the pool.
11:46Chad Johnson:He better than how. Here y 'all go, here y 'all go. Here you go. Hey, hey, hey, hey.
11:51Shannon Sharpe:Man, y 'all don't want none of Slim. Oh, Georgia Slim. Y 'all heard of Minnesota fans. Oh, Georgia Slim. Bah! Hey, listen.
12:03Chad Johnson:Y 'all know what's going on.
12:04Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, but hey, man, look here. Like I said, I was like, man, caught my homeboy Bucket, man. That joker had both knees replaced. He had back. Man, my homeboy was messed up. And like the last two years, he'd have had neck surgery, back surgery, and both knees replaced. Damn. Jesus.
12:24Chad Johnson:Hey, man, we got to get y 'all back moving.
12:27Shannon Sharpe:I was a triple jumper. I was a long jumper. Hey, like I said, there are some times I went out there on the football field, I ain't have no damn business out there. The way I was feeling, I ain't have no business out there. I know that. So that's why it's hard for me to have sympathy for God. Look, I'm going to go out there. I got to. I know my teammates counting on me, and I know it's a finite period of time in which I got to be great at this. And that's why I was able to walk away, Joe, Ochoa, I was in such peace, because I know I left it. everything I had, I left it on nothing. I left it. I left no stone unturned as far as my eating, as far as my training, as far as my rest, as far as the way I met, the practice.
13:15Shannon Sharpe:I left nothing. I didn't owe the game nothing, and the game didn't owe me nothing. Now, the game took a lot from me, but it gave me a lot too. It gave me a lot. Absolutely. Absolutely. But hey, knock on wood, Ocho. You ain't had no surgery. You ain't had no surgery. I ain't had no surgeries.
13:39Joe Johnson:I'm 58.
13:40Chad Johnson:I'm 58. Man, get the hell out of here.
13:43Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, Joe, that's an asterisk, man. I was hurt.
13:47Chad Johnson:That's an asterisk? The game was so lifestyle. If that's a kid, I was hurt too, then.
13:51Shannon Sharpe:Joe, man, I told my meniscus like the third frame.
13:56Chad Johnson:We was right there, Joe. We were back in that.
13:58Shannon Sharpe:Chad, go back and look at it.
14:00Chad Johnson:Can I talk to Chad? Ocho, can I talk to Chad? Chad, I need y 'all to chime in on this, man. It wasn't even close, you know, for them to be coming up with all these. Them? Yeah, you just, you just, you, you, I know, I know you. I know you. I know how you get down, brother.
14:14Joe Johnson:No, I know. That's what Unk said he was hurt. Unk said he was hurt. That's why he lost to you. Yeah, I know. What was wrong with you? Oh, I don't bowl. That's not something I do. I don't bowl and I don't golf. So I'm doing things that you guys are familiar with. So therefore - I ain't nobody bowling down in 20 years.
14:32Shannon Sharpe:Me. I think the last time I bowled with the kids, it had to be like 2000 -
14:38Joe Johnson:Hey, don't start that. You talk about you got your own balls, your own shoes.
14:43Chad Johnson:Man, hey, listen, listen, listen. Y 'all athletes though. Y 'all athletes, man. Y 'all supposed to be able to adapt quick. Y 'all supposed to be picking stuff up.
14:51Shannon Sharpe:Looking at the other one, you couldn't tell he was an athlete. who actually i'm i'm the best athlete out of us three huh you might you might be the best athlete
15:03Joe Johnson:out of us three i just i just it was one of those days where i was like now that ain't had nothing to do with it hey hey hey joe i would like k kind of hand another night i just you know you know we
15:13Shannon Sharpe:know what i can do i just ain't sure but you know what i will be right back here we gonna be right back here obviously how y 'all talking with y 'all 58.
15:20Chad Johnson:hey hey hey 82 of the chat i appreciate y 'all chat they said that it's not an asterisk i'm sorry joe stop reading the comments yeah yeah yeah
15:31Shannon Sharpe:cotton i told you i'm with the people so i got to be in tune with what's going on no but i don't know i mean the thing is like you go to guys used to have bowling things and so you go to the bowling thing you can get a bowling ball like okay you get shoes or you get a bowling ball so hey i get a bowling ball made right we got bowling tournaments at the broncos that was you You know, we have offense against defense. Yeah. I think a bowling ball made.
15:58Chad Johnson:Even here in Atlanta, we had events that were at bowling alley. Ocho, what y 'all were doing in Cincinnati? Nothing. What kind of events?
16:06Joe Johnson:I mean, Joe, I can't recall us ever doing no bowling, Joe. I'm going to be honest with you.
16:12Shannon Sharpe:Man, we went to the movies. We went to the movies. Like after practice, doing OTAs or something, we all go to the movies. It'd be about 12 guys in the movie. Everybody, hey, everybody be in that thing sleep by 30 minutes in. Somebody wakes up, hey, man, you got some popcorn left? Yeah. But no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, we did. We went bowling every Tuesday, like every Tuesday. And we be, now, you see how I was acting bowling? Oh, it was worse than that with us. Yeah. It's worse. Oh, yeah.
16:43Chad Johnson:Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, man. Oh, yeah.
16:45Shannon Sharpe:Guys break dancing, doing the centipede. Guys dribbling the bowling ball like it's a basketball. Hey, you go to bowl, they bowl down the other lane. I said, man, y 'all be doing some kind of cheating, man. But, nah, it wasn't this. Cooper Flagg is the first rookie since Magic Johnson to reach these stats in 40 games. 750 plus points, 250 plus rebounds, 150 assists and 50 steals. Joe, what's flag sealing?
17:22Chad Johnson:Oh, I think he's – I think he has the potential to be a superstar in this league. Okay, Ocho. I mean, he's shown superstar potential. You know, obviously, J.K. playing him at the point, him probably learning that position at this point in time in the pros, it's definitely going to help him down the long run. He's the prototypical NBA guy, 6 '9", 6 '10", who can handle the ball, shoot the three, create off the dribble, post up, make guys around him better. He got the potential to be one of the greats. He got potential.
17:55Shannon Sharpe:I agree. I think he has a chance to be special. Like you said, he got the body size. He can put the ball on the floor. He can shoot the ball. You know what, Joe? when I saw that man against the Redeem team or whatever they called themselves, and they was in Vegas, and that man was dunking, and that man was putting the ball on the floor against AD and all them guys, I said, oh, this man ain't scared of nothing.
18:24Chad Johnson:This man ain't scared of nothing. Yeah, and if he ain't for 18 now, he was 16 then, wasn't he? How old is he? 19 now, so he's about 17, 17, 18? Yeah. Yeah, so, yeah, I think he surprised a lot of people with that, too, because he was showing me some skills that he had, and who he was going up against obviously was the elite talent of the NBA. And he held his own. He held his own. And from that point, you know, he's been dubbed as one of the next ones up.
18:50Shannon Sharpe:He was 17, right? Yeah. Tens great wins for the Spurs for the first time since 2015-16. They beat Orlando 112-103. They beat OKC 116-106. They beat Dallas 135-123. They beat Dallas again, 138-125. They beat the Lakers, 136-108. Golden State, 126-113. Phoenix, 121-94. Sacramento, 139-122. They beat Detroit, 114-103. And tonight, they beat Toronto, 110-107. The Spurs are now within two games of the Thunder, first to the West. The Spurs have won 15 of their last 18. Yeah.
19:34Chad Johnson:Hey, they balling, boy. And look, they had six guys in double figures tonight. And Fox led the way. But the one thing about when I look at this Spurs team, obviously Wimby anchors a lot. He had five blocks, Uncle Ocho. But he don't necessarily have to put on a stellar performance offensively for them to win. They got so many other guys who can chip in and put up numbers. all he got to do is anchor the defense. We got the rest. And that's what's been going on as of late, man. They've been playing great ball. They on the road smacking teams.
20:13Shannon Sharpe:And, man, look here. The man blocking shots don't even lead the floor. How you block somebody don't even jump? You don't know Joe, man.
20:21Joe Johnson:It's almost unfair.
20:23Chad Johnson:It is, bro. It is.
20:24Joe Johnson:It's almost unfair.
20:26Chad Johnson:Because we never seen nothing like it. You know, his size, the way he move, moving like a guard. like it's insane even watch I'm gonna be honest with you
20:35Shannon Sharpe:I mean he didn't have they shot 47 % they made some 3 they were 17 to 39 from the 3 but you look at Champagny he had 10

22:51Shannon Sharpe:Wimby had 12, Fox had 20, Vassell had 20. Is it Vassell or Vassell? Vassell. Is it Vassell? 21, Stephon Castle had 13, Dylan Harper had 15. So, yeah.
23:11Chad Johnson:But why you talking Vassell has been consistent over the past, I don't know, few weeks when I've been really watching him. He's been getting off. He's been getting off.
23:20Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. They did a job. I mean, you shoot 50 % against San Antonio, you done something. Because you better be making some outside shots because you ain't going to be getting a whole damn layup because Wimby are racing all that.
23:34Chad Johnson:Hey, he going to make you think about it even when you do come in there. He going to definitely make you think about it.
23:41Joe Johnson:He nice.
23:42Chad Johnson:But they do it by committee, Uncle Ojo.
23:44Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.
23:45Chad Johnson:A bunch of different guys, bro. A bunch of different guys.
23:48Shannon Sharpe:And they ain't going to play in a whole bunch of minutes. I mean, the most minutes we played of Vassal and Fox played 30. Wimby played – excuse me, Fox played 31. Wimby played 30, but you had a bunch of 21s, 14s. The starters only – Castle only went 13 minutes. I'm wondering if he – excuse me, only went 28 minutes. Yeah. I'm wondering if he got – They deep, man.
24:12Chad Johnson:They deep. They deep. I mean, you look at Harrison Barnes coming off the bench. I like Cornette, who was with Boston, the big dude. Yeah. So they got some guys who –
24:27Shannon Sharpe:But that's – he's the – isn't he a spur? When you look at it, Kelly Odenick. Yeah, he is. When you look at it, Kelly Odenick, when they had Yaka Pearl, and they had – what's the guy? Yeah. He's the head coach of Portland now. Yeah, Splinter.
24:44Chad Johnson:Splinter. Yeah.
24:46Shannon Sharpe:They're the perfect guys. When they had Bonner.
24:52Chad Johnson:Yep.
24:54Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, so. They going, hey, depending on how long Shea going to be out, they might catch him. Even if they don't, they don't want to see San Antonio in the postseason.
25:09Chad Johnson:Unless they have to face him in the conference final.
25:12Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, I want somebody to knock them out so I don't have to deal with them. because Wimby's a problem
25:21Chad Johnson:you're right
25:21Shannon Sharpe:Wimby's a problem
25:23Chad Johnson:you're right but it's going to be tough beating them in the seven game series we
25:30Shannon Sharpe:so it's on the map Ishba wants more NBA stars to participate in the All-Star Weekend Joe when Phoenix hosts the Miss Season Showcase next year to help Ishba has offered to pay one million dollar prize to the winners of the 2027 Slam Dunk and three-point contest, with another million going to the charity in each event. The concept, however, will run afoul with the CBA. Officials of the league office said the Players Union told ESPN such prize would not conform with the existing bonus structure. Ishpah did not consult the league office before making an offer, but he's motivated to find a way to get stars to participate in the event.
26:14Shannon Sharpe:I think the stars been participating in the three-point competition. Hell, you get Stab, you get Dane, you get Book, I mean, you get Donovan Mitchell, you had Clay Tommy, some of those guys have participated. It's just the dunk contest is that the stars don't participate anymore.
26:33Joe Johnson:And that's what everybody want to see, Uncle Joe. That's what I said last time we talked about it. They have to find a way to incentivize these fellas, even though they're making 50, 60, 70 million dollars, make it worth a while. That's the only way to get players that are elitist what they do, that are making the most money to get them to do something. A nice little chunk of change, you know, to have some fun with, to do whatever you want to do with. Let me go out here and get this extra, you know, two, three million. What? Win this contest, be creative, you know, and then go about my business.
27:05Shannon Sharpe:They're making too much money. You ain't doing it? You wouldn't do it? No, I don't think motivation is the issue. I don't think them guys. Look, if Jordan can do it for$25 ,000, you think these guys, and Jordan making$2 million. If you think these guys are making$40,$50,$60 million a year, going to be motivated to$2 million, you're mistaken. They are a little spoiled. They're not doing it. They're complaining about playing 82 games, making$70 million.
27:32Chad Johnson:Right.
27:34Shannon Sharpe:They're unmoved with money.
27:36Chad Johnson:Hey, listen, but with it being incentivized like this, I think we'll have some guys who probably we didn't expect. I think guys will step up. I mean, obviously, three-point shootout is already, where is that? That's already interesting. But, yeah, I think for a million dollars, Ant-Man making 50 million, so what's a million
27:57Joe Johnson:dollars do to him? Hey, Joe, that's, I mean, listen, it's not insulting. It's a lot of money, so I don't want anybody in the chat to say, we're talking about in comparison to what NBA players are already making. We're at the all-star break. And listen, I have a chance to make a good chunk of change to do something extra with. You know what? I don't have to touch my salary money. I don't have to touch my endorsement money. This is just, hey, a little fun. I can give it to my girl. I can give it to my wife. I can put it up with my kids.
28:27Shannon Sharpe:Whatever it may be. They're making$20 million. They're making$30 million in endorsement. They're not moving for a million dollars, Ocho. That's what I just said.
28:34Joe Johnson:That's insulting. That's almost insulting. You got to come up with a better number they're not they don't if you unmoved there is i don't believe there's a number
28:47Shannon Sharpe:that could move a guy i don't i do i do i know i know where to move a guy
28:53Joe Johnson:what five million for the dunk contest they moving they moving for extra five whether it be anthony edwards i mean i um who else is a a printer all-star that that has that kind of creativity and excitement when it comes to dunkin uh joe zion you're gonna put zion in zion you're gonna put john moran you're gonna get jada yeah extra five yeah they gonna go i guarantee you i bet you let's bet you it's different it's different
29:26Shannon Sharpe:now ocho what mo what motor what motivates guy if it if it ain't in you they no amount of money can get you to do it.
29:36Joe Johnson:It ain't him. I like that. That's a good one. It ain't him. I like that. But I know for that five, they're going to get that.
29:43Shannon Sharpe:They're going to get that. People quick to say they quick to talk about Jordan and Kobe and all these guys. They were doing it when the winner got $25 ,000. This is a different time, huh? This is a different time. Exactly. That's my point. They make so much money. That's why I said think about it. Them guys make more endorsements than probably Jordan made in his career in two years of endorsements. Now, I'm not talking about what Jordan's salary. I'm not talking about what Jordan did with Nike. That's a whole different issue. Right. And we know, and congratulations to the jump man. But, it ain't in them, Ocho.
30:20Shannon Sharpe:Why do you think they stopped doing it? And the risk of being judged and the risk of being losing. They don't want that. The same thing I said, the same thing about it, Ocho. When we did the Pro Bowl joke, the loser got$5 ,000, the winner got$10 ,000. And then it went to$25 ,000. Then it went to$30 ,000. Then it went to$50 ,000. It went to$100 ,000, and the guys still wouldn't do it. Them guys, when you start making the kind of money that they're making.
30:52Chad Johnson:And I think another thing that plays a major part in this is that it's midseason. this is our only break that we get a lot of guys ain't willing to you know be out there they want they really want to rest they really want to go off and do something else i'm going to jamaica cancun somewhere right right so so look ocho think about this so you all start weekend i'm in a dunk contest it's the only event i'm doing it's saturday night man that's that's gonna cut into my
31:20Shannon Sharpe:plans partner for all star if the money was the issue don't you think these shoes companies Adidas, Puma, Skatcher, Jumpman, Nike. Don't you think they can say, hey, Ant-Man, I got an extra 5, 10 million. You win the dunk contest. You don't think they bring the money? Of course they would. They not moving. It don't move them. It's got to be in you. You got to want to do it. Money can't be the incentive. Man, think about what they get. How often y 'all get paid?
31:51Joe Johnson:Money is an incentive. Come on now. Money is the incentive.
31:56Shannon Sharpe:So you get paid the first and the 15th. So a guy that's making$60 million,$50 million a year. Right. Plus when you tap on what he's doing in endorsements. Okay, let's just say we're going to be generous. Another$20,$30 million. So he's making somewhere between$80 and$115 million. And all of a sudden you think, whoa,$5 million really does it for me. He could do a card signing. I ain't doing no money.
32:32Shannon Sharpe:Hold on. Hold on. I think we got... Hold on. David Falk. Yeah, I knew about him. He told a story that Jordan had an opportunity. Somebody offered Jordan to show up for three hours, offered him$100 million. Jordan said, no, I'm good.
32:52Shannon Sharpe:$100 million, you know, Joe? So you just told me money move people.
32:55Joe Johnson:A hundred million for three hours. Now we cannot compare Jordan. Three hours. That's different. Stop it. Let me ask you a question. That's different. We talk about Michael Jordan. Three hours. The greatest. Three hours. A hundred. And he said no. It's Michael Jordan. A hundred million ain't moving him. So you think five million moving the guy that make it$130 million?
33:22Shannon Sharpe:Thank you, Ojo. I appreciate that.
33:25Joe Johnson:I don't like the comparison in Jordan and the players that are playing today. I don't like that comparison. You make my point.
33:30Shannon Sharpe:Because Jordan was willing to do it for 25. And you think that's what's going to do it for them? Extra money? Jordan was making$3 million in contract. Plus, he's probably making it at that time. He had Hanes. He had Gatorade. He had Nike. Let's just be generous and say he was doing$20 million,$30 million. Right. So he's doing$33 million. These guys, some of these guys are doing three, four times that.

36:20Shannon Sharpe:competition but they in it but you getting stealth as long as you get stealth you get dane uh kneple now he's he's gonna be a regular participant you get donovan hey uh ant-man because ant-man led the league in three-point competitions i just think the thing now is that the guys the money doesn't move the guys you gotta wanna do something because like you said money i don't believe money moves people. Not when you get to a certain level. I mean, you gotta really break it worth my while to get me up off my couch, Ocho. Hey. You gotta get it up off Bible, you gotta get it.
37:01Joe Johnson:With the way to, hey, I mean, you know, I ain't listening. With the way them bullies spend, that extra five ain't gonna hurt, I can tell you that.
37:08Chad Johnson:He ain't gonna go that, he ain't going no extra five though.
37:11Shannon Sharpe:No.
37:15Chad Johnson:I'll go to Phoenix and get that little M. Joe, hey, let me get the three board competition. Yeah, I get that shit. I go out there and do something, participate in something.
37:26Joe Johnson:Hey, hey, Joe.
37:27Chad Johnson:What's up?
37:28Joe Johnson:Hey, matter of fact, hey, Unk, and since you gonna be down, right? Like you down and out for a little bit, you gotta go into the night. You could like, like me and Joe could play one-on-one for a million.
37:40Chad Johnson:Boy, I ain't learning.
37:41Joe Johnson:What do you think about that, Joe?
37:42Chad Johnson:Hey, put an extra million on it. I won't let his ass go.
37:50Shannon Sharpe:Hey, Joe. Hey, Joe said I be the easiest money I ever made. What?
37:57Joe Johnson:I'm just saying that. That'd be good. Hey, Joe, I play hard as hell, Joe.
38:01Chad Johnson:It's okay. You can play hard. That ain't gonna mean nothing. Hey, Joe.
38:04Joe Johnson:Hey, I play like my life on the line, Joe.
38:06Chad Johnson:It's okay. It's okay. It's okay. You still will have a chance. You will have a chance.
38:10Joe Johnson:Hey, Joe, let me ask you something, though. What's up, bro? With all due respect, I know you're one of the better players of all time. You know, you have the opportunity to go into the Hall of Fame. But you think if we go to 11, you think I ain't going to score one point, Joe?
38:23Chad Johnson:If I don't want you to, nah, you won't.
38:25Joe Johnson:You don't think so?
38:26Chad Johnson:Nah.
38:27Joe Johnson:Like, Joe, like, slightly, like, with all due respect, I really do.
38:31Chad Johnson:But because I like you, I think you're a good guy. I'm willing to probably ease up, give you about two points. You lucky enough to get you at least a point or two. You know what I mean? But if I ain't want you to score, you wouldn't score, partner.
38:44Joe Johnson:I don't like that, Joe.
38:45Chad Johnson:That's okay. What you saying?
38:47Shannon Sharpe:Off-tail, collard greens, cornbread, neck bone, fried chicken, pork chops,
38:54Joe Johnson:collard greens, mac and cheese. Hey, hey, hey, I don't mean no disrespect, but he lightweight disrespecting me telling me I can't score a point. I know you're NBA player. I know you want to - I'm just keeping it real.
39:06Chad Johnson:I know it sound like disrespect, but it ain't - Hey, Joe, I'm taking it as disrespect. I'm telling you, Joe. Well, take it how you want to take it, Ocho. Shit, take it how you want to take it. We can get to it, boy. I'm telling you. I'm coming to see you, boy. I'm coming to Miami, boy. I'm going to come down there and slay some dragons, homeboy. I'm coming to see you, man. Don't get me turned up, because you know when you get me turned up, you can't turn me down. All the way turned up.
39:34Joe Johnson:Hey, we done created a monster zone. I don't know. We done created a monster, Joe. It's the chat fault too. Come on, Joe. Joe, for real, Joe? Nah, damn it. Damn it.
39:47Chad Johnson:He done pissed me off. He done pissed me off, Walker. I tried to be cool with y 'all, but now I'm sick of it. He done pissed me off.
39:54Shannon Sharpe:Now, see what I'm saying, Joe? We was good. Hey, we had to get that out of the way. We was good for my team. Nah, damn all that.
40:02Chad Johnson:Nah, nah, I'm sick of it. I'm sick of it. Hey, Ocho. What's up? I promise you, boy. I had a great day at therapy today too. I'm pushing that sled, pushing it down, pulling it back with that weight on there. Yes, sir. I promise you, boy.
40:15Joe Johnson:Hey, Joe, I don't like you telling me I'm not going to score. Ain't nobody finna tell me what I'm not going to do against my will, Joe. I'm going to score a point. I'm going to score maybe two, maybe three.
40:27Chad Johnson:At least you can say I told you, partner. At least you can say, man, he told me.
40:32Joe Johnson:Hey, Joe, real talk, as a grown-ass man, Joe?
40:36Chad Johnson:What's up, bro? Like, you slightly disrespected me. That's okay. That's okay. You can be disrespected. You still gonna get this work, homeboy. All right. All right. When you finish with therapy?
40:50Joe Johnson:When you finish with therapy?
40:51Chad Johnson:I'm gonna send you the date. As soon as we get out of here, I'm gonna text you the dates on your phone, partner. Yeah, all right. How much are you putting on the game? Anything that make you nervous. Come on. Talk to me. Well, hey, don't nothing make me nervous, right? I'm good, Joe. What you want to do? Make it light on yourself. Call it man. What you want me to get from it? I'll be healing up. You want me to get, hey, why I'm mad at, I'm gonna get your 5900 too, why I'm mad at it.
41:19Shannon Sharpe:Oh yeah, give my 5900 while you're at it, Joe.
41:20Chad Johnson:Yeah, I'm gonna get your 5900 plus tax.
41:24Joe Johnson:Hey, we do. And make sure, so it ain't no excuses, make sure we bring cash to the court. Oh, say less. Yeah, make sure we bring cash to the court. Yeah, say less. Okay. Hey, I don't know. Hey, I don't know somebody to tell you wrong.
41:37Shannon Sharpe:You get my opinion on 100, Joe.
41:39Joe Johnson:Oh, I got you, huh? I got you. Yeah, I'm glad. So y 'all teaming up against me? OK, bet. Bet. I've been alone with you all my life.
41:49Shannon Sharpe:That's you and Joe. You the one that challenged that man. I ain't got nothing to do with this. I'm injured. I'm on injured.
41:54Joe Johnson:Hey, but I did heard you chipped in. I did heard you chipped in by letting him be the king a little bit longer. OK, OK, bet. Yeah.
42:01Chad Johnson:Bet. Hey, hey, hey, Ocho, Ocho, I earned my respect homeboy. I took what I wanted. You know what I'm talking about? Right, I hear you. I hear you.
42:08Joe Johnson:Wait, listen, I'm gonna tell you what. I'm gonna take what I want too, and I'm gonna earn my respect.
42:11Shannon Sharpe:Okay, all right. Joe, we got to get you a nightcap sign. You got a wall back there, Joe? Yeah, I got one. I can put it up right there. You go, hey, you gotta put it on, because you know, Ocho, Ocho.
42:26Chad Johnson:Oh, you don't even know he got one.
42:27Shannon Sharpe:Nah, my sign worked though.
42:30Chad Johnson:Oh, here he go.
42:34Shannon Sharpe:We can't see that. That thing's so far to focus.
42:40Joe Johnson:Hey, don't worry. Don't worry. Remember they do them a room. They do them a room at the end of this month.
42:46Shannon Sharpe:Boy, they been doing that room.
42:50Joe Johnson:No, I said they coming to do it. They do other jobs. My dates aren't scheduled to the end of February.
42:56Shannon Sharpe:You do realize that's like in two days.
42:59Joe Johnson:Yeah, the end of February. They'll be here. I'm gonna have to do my -
43:03Shannon Sharpe:So you said they're gonna be there on Friday or Saturday? Yeah, it'll take two weeks.
43:12Chad Johnson:But yeah, boy, this dude got me bent, what?
43:15Joe Johnson:Who? You. I mean, yeah, yeah. That's what it's gonna feel like on that goddamn court playing with me. That's what it's gonna feel like. I need that with all due respect. Now you ain't finna tear me. I ain't finna score no one, two points. Like I'm not an elite athlete. What are you, what you talking about, man? It's me.
43:34Chad Johnson:They're keeping it 100, my boy.
43:35Joe Johnson:Nah, you ain't keeping it 100. It's gonna, man, all right. Well, hey, Joe, you got me, man. We're almost cursed, boy, and I don't even curse no more. I don't even curse no more. We're almost cursed, boy.
43:47Shannon Sharpe:New Ravens head coach Jesse Minter hopes to change players' attitude towards OTAs. He said today, first of all, I do have total respect for the rules that it is voluntary. Totally understand that. And Lamar has an unbelievable success doing it both ways. And so there's certainly a balance there. But I think it's our job is to create an environment and a learning opportunity where they feel like it's really important for them to be there.
44:15Shannon Sharpe:Ocho? You got a warning. What's up? We had sound? We didn't have the sound of that, did we? Okay. What'd you think of Ocho? what did Mr. say he said he understand that it's totally voluntary and he understand right and he understands Lamar's had success doing it both ways but he said I think it's our job is to create an environment and a learning opportunity where they feel like it's really important to them to want to be there hmm yeah
44:50Joe Johnson:I like I like I like it I like the words it's all up to Lamar whatever Lamar wants to do I mean it would behoove him being at his new system his new officer coordinator new coaches I'm sure everybody they would have 100 % attendance even though it is voluntary
45:07Shannon Sharpe:you know well you didn't have a coach because Marvin was there your whole tenure so you didn't have a coach well no remember I had Dick LeBeau first oh you're right you're right you're right you're right you're absolutely right Ocho and then you got Marvin. And so as long as you don't change head coaches, because you get changed head coaches, you get three. You get to have three camps.
45:34Joe Johnson:Yeah.
45:35Shannon Sharpe:It's going to be interesting. I think Lamar is going to show up. Just for the simple fact that, you know what, they're working on it. Eric DaCosta is like, look, me and Lamar had a great conversation over the years. We don't really talk about the contract. We just get it done, and we're going to keep that thing. But I do think Lamar is going to show up. They don't really do anything. And plus, I think it gives them a head start on learning the offense. It's a totally new offense. Me, I kind of like keeping the same coaches because I like the same offense on Joe, so that way I didn't have to show up.
46:16Chad Johnson:Right.
46:18Shannon Sharpe:That was the only reason I liked it, Joe, because I didn't want to show up. But look, they're very motivated to get a deal done with Lamar. Lamar's finna jump. He's finna jump Josh Allen. We know what Josh got. Lamar's finna get that and some. They ain't going to play with him, is it?
46:38Joe Johnson:No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Nope.
46:41Shannon Sharpe:Because the faster you can get that done, the better off things will be around. He probably, you know, new system, new coach.
46:49Chad Johnson:So you want to get everybody acclimated.
46:52Shannon Sharpe:And nothing gets you acclimated and make you want to show up, Ocho, like$300 million, huh?
46:57Chad Johnson:L-O. Hey.
47:01Shannon Sharpe:When$100 million hit your bank account, damn, y 'all really wanted me to show up. I'll buy it if I do.
47:11Joe Johnson:Hey. It's a different world.
47:13Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, hey. I'd have never thought. If somebody would have told me when free agency hit back in 93, that was the first year of it. Yeah. that the salary would get to where they – I'm like, man, get the hell out of here. These guys are getting contracts for what these owners purchased teams for. I mean, you could buy a team. I mean, back in the 80s, you could buy a team for$60 million.
47:38Chad Johnson:Hey, but hold up. You remember in the NBA coming in as rookies, they used to didn't have no salary. I know. You used to could sign a$60,$70 million deal. Yeah. Big Dahl, what Big Dahl, what are the last ones to get that contract?
47:51Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, yeah, yeah. They had to put that salary cap on there real quick. Hold on, hold on before this thing get out of hand. Well, it used to be, Ocho, well, you know it used to be there was no salary cap on rookies. Sam Braffitt was the highest paid player, and he was a rookie. Yeah, and we went to the Rams first, right? And then you know how they did it. They're like, no, you know what, we don't think that's right. We want to put a rookie cap, and that'll keep more bets. they put a rookie cap on the quarterbacks and then cut the vets right oh boy crazy business but no I think Lamar's gonna show up I think he's gonna be very motivated to show up when they give him that Josh Allen money 250, 260 million guaranteed 120 130 at the time of signing yeah I'm gonna to show up.
48:47Shannon Sharpe:I go to Steve. You know what? You and I have been working great together. Let's continue this relationship. Because Lamar's 29. Who just ain't showing another four years. He can't get another contract.
49:00Chad Johnson:Yeah. Damn. He just 29 for real?
49:06Joe Johnson:Boy, he's young, boy.
49:08Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Damn. And then win the MVP, win a Subo, see y 'all in training camp. I see y 'all for that mandatory one in June. I'm just telling you. I win MVP. We win the championship. I'm never doing OTAs again. I'll see you in June. An anonymous NFL GM says he's not remotely interested in Tyreek Hill, even at the vet minimum. We aren't touching him. No chance. We think he's done. He isn't a difference maker anymore. The juice isn't worth the squeeze. Not even as a vet minimum guy for us. What? That minimum is a million dollars.
49:59Chad Johnson:Coming out for ACL. How old is Tyree?
50:01Shannon Sharpe:He got an ACL, an MCL, a broken tibia. How old is he? 31. I think he's 31. oh he got he got a little he got some juice left got a whole lot of juice left how old is he he's 31 he'd be 32 is yeah is it march 1st he's 31 right now how old is he right now
50:29Joe Johnson:hey hey hey joe and unc when i when i hear when i hear owners say stuff like this i would so love to the the the know exactly where the source came from who the owner actually is It was a GM. It was an anonymous GM. Hey, GM in general, they're always anonymous. They're always anonymous. I would love to see what receivers he has on his squad where he thinks even Tyreek Hill coming back off injury ain't better than what we got out there right now.
50:55Shannon Sharpe:I think he would be, Ocho, if he wasn't coming off serious injuries. He's coming off a serious injury, and he's about to be 32 in three days. With that being said, at minimum, I think it's a steal. Now, I'm not going much above that, Ocho, given what he's coming back off of. What about what he looks like after injury? Well, he did that in week four. Coming in, seeing him wrong. What do you have? We know he had a broken tibia. We know he had an ACL. Were there any other ligaments? Were there an MCL? Were there any meniscus damage? LCL?
51:47yeah he said motivatorial ligaments so we know the acl okay guys come back from the acl
51:54Shannon Sharpe:is those is those small and so did they repair it ocho did they give him a cadaver right right right they take part of the patella because you know they take part of the patella tendon and they reattach it. So it's interesting to see what all he had done. They said multiple ligaments. Now, we know the ACL. We don't know if it's the MCL, the LCL. We don't know if it's any of those, but we assume now we don't know which other ligaments, corresponding ligaments it is. We know he broke we also know he broke his leg, the fibula. So it's going to be, it's an uphill climb, but athletes, I mean, you know, they know we know how to rehab we know how to get back and if there's a will if there's a way he'll do it but I do think for a million dollars I mean for because that's the minimum Mocho oh yeah for a million dollars I'm definitely doing it now I don't know if you'll go there for a million dollars but I'm saying
52:52Joe Johnson:no no no absolutely not now I think he's going to do it right Uncle Joe depending on how he looks he'll be back over there with Andy Reid and Mahomes and Eric Biennium because he's familiar with the system they're going to know how to use him it'd be perfect it'd be perfect for him because he doesn't have to be the one to shoulder the burden
53:20Joe Johnson:you're going to be alright
53:22Shannon Sharpe:it's just the thing of L 'Ochoa man
53:25Joe Johnson:yeah
53:26Shannon Sharpe:if they ever get a chance to get you while you down You best believe.
53:31Joe Johnson:Oh, they coming. Oh, they coming.
53:35Shannon Sharpe:That's what I would advise the guys. Guys, be as gracious as you possibly can. I know sometimes it gets hard, but you always want to give them, like, you know what? We like you. He's never giving anybody any problems. He's a great locker room guy. He's competitive. Man, when you're coming off an injury and they're like, where you think you're a problem in the locker room and you got a lot of stuff going on. Because they're looking for a reason, Ocho. They just don't give them a reason.
54:06Joe Johnson:Always looking for a reason. And if there is no reason, they're going to create one.
54:14Shannon Sharpe:It's like, as a coach, you want to tell us something, listen to her, don't cut yourself. Let us do that.
54:26Shannon Sharpe:That's a classic. Know where you're supposed to be. Do what you're supposed to do. Be on time. Yeah. But you make my job real easy when you don't know what you're supposed to do. You're not where you're supposed to be, and you're not on time. You really make my job easy. Make it difficult on me. Trankers. Make it so I have to like, damn. Look, I understand. I think with a little time, this guy might turn into a pretty good player for us. as opposed to like, nah, nah.
