Guest backgrounds

The episode is hosted by three recurring personalities (Victor “Wemby” interview clip; plus “Joe” and “Ocho” as the main co-hosts). No formal guest list is provided in the transcript beyond the quoted athlete interviews and reported news items.

  2. Harden was reportedly arrested for carrying a handgun not in a holster (misdemeanor unlawful weapon charge).
  3. Aldon Smith died at 36; the cause wasn’t confirmed in the discussion.

2:53Shannon Sharpe:Everything, you know what, everything ain't meant for me to get. Let's take a listen to what Wimby had to say after the game. Victor, I know it's the end of a tough series. I'm just wondering if you can put into words what it was like to watch that team celebrate a championship on your home floor. And does that give you and the team maybe motivation, fuel going into whatever's next?

3:22I think compared to anything before, this is the biggest lesson of my life, the biggest learning moment. I can't tell exactly what the lesson is, but we're learning from that for sure. I'm learning more than any other time in my life before.

3:39Chad Johnson:Every team you've faced so far, you guys always found a way to get over the top eventually.

3:44Shannon Sharpe:What what did you learn about how hard it is to win the finals against this Knicks team where they kept coming up with answers? Brunson just could always score no matter what in the end. I learned one of many things I learned is the margin of error is very, very thin. Our domination stints are absolute. We absolutely dominated for most of the series. but our errors, our mistakes are punished so hard that we can't have ups and downs like this so much, you know. The ups are okay, the downs, it's the reason we lost.

4:36Chad Johnson:Thanks.

4:38Shannon Sharpe:Yes.

4:39Chad Johnson:Yeah, thanks.

4:40Shannon Sharpe:Joe, we've been talking about this all the time. In postseason, you pay double for turnovers.

4:46Chad Johnson:Yep. Yep.

4:48Shannon Sharpe:You pay double. The question is, and we talk about this in football. Yes, sir. When you have the momentum, how much separation can you put between you and the team? Because they gonna go on their run.

5:02Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah. The Spurs low was just too damn low.

5:09Shannon Sharpe:Yes.

5:10Chad Johnson:It was just too damn low. Yeah, I mean, Ocho, granted you had the Knicks the whole postseason, bro, but for the Spurs to just dwindle, just give away games, the way they done down the stretch, bro, I mean, outside of being fatigued, And, you know, obviously we don't want to keep throwing the immature thing out there. But, hell, I don't know what else to tell you, bro. Like, you know, I think, like Wimby say, I think hopefully they will learn from a lot of these losses from this series alone. And hopefully it'll be better in the future. But carbon copy every game. Up double figures. Blow the lead and lose.

5:55Shannon Sharpe:And see, that's what's so frustrating. You know, Ocho? Yeah. If you make a mistake one time, I put my arm around you and say, Ocho's better. You made a mistake, bro. We can't do that no more. Right. But guess what? Two days later, Ocho, you do the same mistake. And then two days after that, Ocho, you do the same mistake. And then two days after that, Ocho, you do the same mistake. Now, either one or two things. You will F up or you not receiving the message that I'm giving you. Yeah. Or I need to give you the message in a new form.

6:25Chad Johnson:Yeah.

6:27Shannon Sharpe:It's not that Joe, it's not that complicated. It's really not. Either the message that I'm trying to give you I need to change the form in which I'm giving it to you.

6:41Chad Johnson:Yeah.

6:43Shannon Sharpe:Or and my coach would say, son, I need a new player. I need a new player, son. Hey, but

6:53Chad Johnson:But why are you talking? Ms. Johnson got outcoached by Mike Brown.

6:57Shannon Sharpe:He did?

6:58Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah. I mean, we got to understand now this. Hey, Ms. Johnson, even though he's inherited a great young team. Yes. Yes. He's still a rookie him damn self.

7:09Shannon Sharpe:Yes.

7:10Chad Johnson:You know, so I kind of see, I can kind of see where things don't go so great for them down the stretch. man, it's not just the players. It's the coaching too at times. Okay, Ocho. Yes. Yeah.

7:25Shannon Sharpe:I don't know how calming or soothing voice that he has in the huddle because it seems like when the bleeding, they can't stop the bleeding.

7:32Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah.

7:34Shannon Sharpe:Because the thing is, Ocho, Joe, if you notice, it's like when the Knicks go on their run or the Spurs need to make a shot, they can't get it. and it seems like every time the Knicks need to make a shot they can get it every time they'll get to the free throw line or they're gonna get they're gonna they're gonna find a way every time first could never could never match that every time every time

8:06Chad Johnson:every time it seemed like the Knicks came over big play out the big play bro when they counted, when they really counted.

8:14Shannon Sharpe:That's all that matters. Joe, me and Ocho, we talk about this all the time. Oh, they got a great offense. They got a great defense. Yeah. Well, if you're great, can you get done what you need to get done when you absolutely, positively got to have it? Got to have it, yeah. When you need to stop, if you're a great defensive team and you need to get the ball back for your offense, can you? If you're an offense and you great, can you get a first down? to stay on the field? Can you convert that third down? Can you get your team in field goal range? Can you get that? What are we talking about? I don't need you.

8:50Shannon Sharpe:Everybody can be great when greatness is not required. Yeah. Yeah. I need you to be great when greatness is required, when nothing else will suffice but greatness. Can you be great? Right. Right. Because if you're not, I mean, what are we doing here? What are we doing? What are we talking about? I mean, I just can't even put it into words, bro.

9:20Chad Johnson:From a Spurs perspective on how this series went, like.

9:29Shannon Sharpe:Start bench cut, Joe. Dirk 2011, Kawhi 2019, Brunson 2026.

9:35Chad Johnson:Come on, man. Come on. Come on. That's the best years though, huh? Come on, because that was...

9:43Shannon Sharpe:We got to get the finals MVP.

9:45Chad Johnson:Dirk put them boys out when Bron and D-Wade was at the... Come on, man. At the apex. What?

Read the full transcript

9:51Shannon Sharpe:What you got, Joe? Hold on, Joe. This is for Joe.

9:53Chad Johnson:Oh, yeah. Man, who coming up with these questions? I want to know. Come on.

9:59Shannon Sharpe:Who you say now, Dirk? Dirk 2011, Kawhi 2019, Brunson 2026. You say cut, bench, start? All right. No. Well, start, bench, cut.

10:11Chad Johnson:I'm starting.

10:12Shannon Sharpe:Wherever you want to do it. I'm starting Dirk.

10:19Chad Johnson:There's no answer for that boy. Brian never had no answer for him. Sorry. Okay. I don't know what to tell y 'all.

10:30Chad Johnson:Start, bench, cut. All right, I'm gonna have to bench.

10:35Shannon Sharpe:See if we still together, because I know what I would do.

10:39Chad Johnson:I'm going to bench Brunson. I'm going to have to cut Kawhi.

10:46Shannon Sharpe:That's exactly what I was going.

10:48Chad Johnson:Yeah.

10:50Shannon Sharpe:Had Kawhi gone through a healthy Kevin Durant and beat the Warriors, I would start Kawhi. Absolutely. I would bench Dirk, and then I would cut Brunson.

11:01Chad Johnson:Absolutely. Absolutely. If Kevin Durant would have stayed, if he wouldn't tore his Achilles in that series, we all know. Well, we all felt. It'd be different? We all felt that the Warriors would have won that series. Right, okay. I mean, they would have been a three-peat for them, wouldn't it, Unc? Yep. Yeah. Damn. But being healthy, bro, pays a major part. Hey, what's the last NBA team to three-peat, Uncle Joe? The Lakers. yeah Kobe and Shaq Kobe and Shaq

11:34Shannon Sharpe:they ain't been a whole lot of three-peats you got the Lakers you got the Bulls in the 90s you got the you got the Lakers in the 2000s you gotta go all the way all the way back to the damn the Celtics in the 60s

11:49Chad Johnson:you know how good you gotta be the three-peat man hey Joe I mean those Lakers teams that were three-peated right yeah yeah the meat and potatoes of those teams was Kobe and Shaq. Were the supporting role players, were they that good? Hell yeah.

12:07Shannon Sharpe:You got Rick Fox. You got Brian Shaw. Robert Ory. Yeah, they were very good. Hold on now. Now think about this. If we could rewind back to time and Shaq knows what he knows now, you think he'd still leave that team knowing that we could probably maybe go four, maybe five? if you keep the band together. Knowing what he knows now, knowing what he knows now, if Shaq, if you could take Shaq, okay Shaq, this is what's gonna happen. This is 20 years, 25 years forward. And I say, he can see all of that. Yeah. He would train his ass off and he'd be the greatest player to ever play. Yeah. How many more championships do I mean?

12:48Five. They'd have won five, six in a row. Straight in a row? Yes. Woo!

12:54Chad Johnson:That boy was dominant, Ojo. You know, I ain't watch basketball back then, but you see it because the certain names it always pop up on ESPN. So you have no choice but to see the highlights. Yeah, I have a great understanding on how great Kobe is. Obviously, you know, you know, going to a few courtside games with my son, he was so little joke. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know, man. This shit has been really enjoyable the past year of getting a better understanding of the game, you know, as being able to watch it and trying to learn how to talk it. Ocho, it's a beautiful game, bro. It is. It's a beautiful game, especially when it's played the right way.

13:39Chad Johnson:Right way, yeah. And that's the one thing I give the Knicks credit, Uncle Ocho, they played the game the right way. Obviously, Brunson has been the catalyst, But for the most part, they beat you in numerous situations, whether it's OG, whether it's Bridges, whether it's Cat, whether it's their bench, whether it's Brunson. They beat you in so many different ways, bro. It hadn't really just been a dominant figure. But tonight, I thought Brunson put his stamp on the game.

14:07Shannon Sharpe:Oh, yeah. Yeah. Sure.

14:09Chad Johnson:Yeah.

14:10Shannon Sharpe:For sure. Yeah. Chat trains like I know. Like I say, I know the trainer that trained Shaq used to train me. And I've seen Shaq in the gym. Man, Shaq was strong. Shaq benched over 400 pounds. What? Ain't no basketball. Yeah, Shaq can bench over 400 pounds. I've seen Shaq bench 300 pounds 10 times. I've seen it with my own eyes. Shaq was strong. So he's strong like Oakley's strong. Yes. But the thing is. He's stronger than Oakley. It ain't even. And I see Oakland bitch 275 for 10 times, 10 left reps.

14:47Chad Johnson:Yeah.

14:48Shannon Sharpe:With my own eyes. Man, them boy's strong like me, Joe.

14:51Chad Johnson:Hey, Ocho, it ain't even necessarily for me about him being the strongest. It's how nimble he is at his size. Yes. That's what made him great. Because I don't think -

15:02Shannon Sharpe:When he was 325, 330. Yeah. You gotta realize that when Shaq was at the end of the leg, Shaq was probably like 350, 360.

15:11Chad Johnson:For the move, though. That guy did. But Kamut, man.

15:16Shannon Sharpe:But see, yes, he could move. But God didn't intend for a man to be that size to be able to move like that. And it broke him down. And so it started his knees, his feet, his ankles. Things started to bother him. When he was 325, 335, you couldn't see him. Yeah. Nobody. Hey, what was he when he was in Orlando? Probably 320. 325 tops. You think he was that heavy?

15:42Chad Johnson:I don't think he was that heavy.

15:43Shannon Sharpe:When he came in, he probably, probably when he came in, he was probably 305. He looked real slim when he was in Orlando.

15:51Chad Johnson:Bro, Ocho, Ocho, man, you gotta, you gotta look up some of them games when he was playing at LSU in college, bro. You were nice. Oh, what? You know what? Hey, Joe, remember that move? I think it was him and Jordan probably in the All-Star game, and they were playing around. And he crossed them up. You see that, yeah, he did that look. Yeah, yeah, yeah. How the hell he moving like that? Looking like a goddamn point. Yeah, that boy was a gazelle early in his career. That boy could run the flow, he was nimble, he could handle a little rock, he could do everything. Man, Shaq had 15 blocks in the game.

16:27Chad Johnson:Hey, the only thing he struggled with was his free throws in the threes. That's it, bro. And then he developed a jump hook and a soft touch around that bucket. It was a wrap. There wasn't nothing you could do with him. Damn.

16:45Shannon Sharpe:Hold on. Let me see something here.

16:54Shannon Sharpe:In 1992, when he got to Orlando, he was listed at 301. Okay. No, he was 300 pounds. Yeah. You got to realize. Do y 'all, people don't realize, I don't know if they've ever seen Shaq in person. He's the biggest man I've ever seen in person. Yeah. Yeah, he's big, big, right? Now I've seen some guys that probably outweigh him as NFL. You know, J.O., I played with Jonathan Ogden. Jonathan Ogden was 6 '9 1⁄2". Jonathan Ogden weighs somewhere like 340. He said he got as much of it as 350.

17:25Chad Johnson:Yeah.

17:27Shannon Sharpe:But you see Shaq 7 '1". When you that tall, do you know how much weight you can put on a body? Shaq can easily be 600 pounds.

17:36Chad Johnson:Man.

17:38Shannon Sharpe:Do you know how much weight you can put on a body, a man his height? Yeah. Man, Shaq, man. Do y 'all realize how Shaq, you see Shaq pros versus Joes? You see Shaq running the party? You see Shaq swimming? You see Shaq catching passes? No, he athletic at the end. He the biggest, most athletic guy I've ever seen.

18:06Chad Johnson:Yeah. Hey, I got facts. Facts. Facts. That boy Nimble now.

18:16Shannon Sharpe:Bro, if he can project and look forward and then go back to do it, oh, he absolutely, he tell you. Shaq's supposed to be in the conversation for the GOAT. Yeah. Not just the most dominant. Shaq's supposed to be in the conversation for the GOAT. When you talk about Magic, you talk about Jordan, you talk about Kobe, LeBron, whomever your goals are, Shaq's supposed to be in that conversation.

18:39Chad Johnson:Absolutely. That's how great he was if he had just kept his weight down

18:45Shannon Sharpe:and trained like he's supposed to. He'll tell you. People don't realize how great Shaq was, man. I do because I saw his ass in college.

18:56Chad Johnson:Oh, yeah, he was special. He was special.

18:58Shannon Sharpe:He was unguardable. Yeah. We ain't never seen nothing like that again, huh? Never. You'll never see anybody his size to be able to move like he could. No, you'll never be able to see it. As agile as you think Joel Embiid is, he couldn't see Shaq. Nah.

19:17Chad Johnson:Because we ain't seen nobody since here.

19:21Shannon Sharpe:Whomever, whomever you think the best defensive center is, Shaq in his prime is giving him 40. 40? 40.

19:34Shannon Sharpe:Today he sent us, he's talking about Embiid, Wimby, Jokic, whoever, giving him 40.

19:40Chad Johnson:You gonna file out.

19:42Shannon Sharpe:Man, people have three, four big man just for Shaq, to have 18, 24 fouls.

19:48Chad Johnson:Yep, you gonna file out. Got us to file him, Mojo.

19:52Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, you can stop him, if he get the ball down low, and he gonna bring the backboard down on your head.

19:57Chad Johnson:Man.

20:00Shannon Sharpe:Ooh. What Harpo say? It gonna rain on your head.

20:09Shannon Sharpe:James Harden was reportedly arrested by the Houston Police Department early this morning on a misdemeanor unlawful carrying of a weapon. Harden was allegedly taken into custody at 3.41 a.m. for carrying a handgun on the seat of his vehicle with authorities alleging the handgun was not in a holster. Ocho Joe. Remember they say nothing good happens after midnight. Hold on. Wait a minute. If you have ain't Houston an open carry state?

20:35Chad Johnson:Yeah but I think it's gotta be in a hoster. Gotta be in a hoster. I mean you would hope the officer or whoever it is would kinda cut him some slack and have it on the seat for a reason get to it in a certain situation. So I kinda get it. I kinda get it. Ocho. Ocho. Ain't nothing open around that time but the legs, gas stations, and Waffle House. Waffle House?

20:57Shannon Sharpe:That's it.

20:58Chad Johnson:That's it.

20:59Shannon Sharpe:That's it. Amen. But you know what, Joe? I don't know about you or no, Joe, but I ain't never been a guy that liked to be out that late.

21:08Chad Johnson:Nah, I used to be out. I ain't going to lie to you. I used to be out there. I used to be out there.

21:12Shannon Sharpe:I was shaking the cup before dark.

21:13Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah.

21:14Shannon Sharpe:But after dark, I'll be in. Right.

21:16Chad Johnson:You know what? I ain't never been no after-hour spot, dude. You know what I mean? After we go to the spot, I'm trying to take my ass home. I ain't. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I go up to the club and take the shirt off. Yeah. I'm high as they get. You got your shirt off in the club? Yeah. Hey, hey. Ocho, damn.

22:06Chad Johnson:Hey. You just said it. Ocho, Ocho, the football cast that I hung around and came up with, that's what they did. That was typical. They were going to take their shirt off. Yeah, they were going to be sweating. I mean, Ocho, come on, man.

22:19Shannon Sharpe:You looking at 230 pounds, calmed out of granite, looking like an African god. Ocho, Ocho, they think - Sweating dripping off my body, beating it. Yeah. What you think they think, them little young ladies thinking. Okay, okay, okay, okay. They need to be sweating like that on top of me. I agree. The only place I used to go, Uncle Joe, is during my playing days, I used to go with my homeboys. They were from Cincinnati, Maine, Los,

22:46Rico, and my homeboy, Locke. After games, you know, I go to the skating session.

22:53Chad Johnson:Yeah. Play at 1 o 'clock. Yeah. So I go to the skating session, which is like, you know, 7 to 10. Yeah. I go skating after every home game I go roller skating. Every home game. That's how I get my soreness out. Yeah. Before I go to the stadium the next morning, in every blue moon, I go to a spot they used to call Annie's. A little spot they used to call Annie's. We go in there and hang out. I don't drink. I give them a little Red Bull. I give them a cranberry juice. I mix them together. Yeah. put in a little glass, put a little lime on there. Man, I'll sip that the whole night. Yeah. I mean, that's it.

23:26That's the most, I live in Miami, Joe. I ain't even been to Club Live yet.

23:30Chad Johnson:Oh man. Dave Grubman's still trying to get me to come to live. You don't have to pay for no section. I say, Dave, I just, it's not me. That environment, it's not me. Hey, Club Live owe me some money here. What you did? What happened, Joe? As much money as many times I done partied in Club Live here. They owe me a little money. They owe me some money. You know what I mean? I know one thing, Joe. I love hearing the story, though. Oh, man. About me. No, no, no, no. About speed. Yeah. I had a good time, though. I had a good time, boy. Oh, yeah.

24:03Shannon Sharpe:I didn't really go out. I think I went out one time. Went out one time after the game. That was after we won the AFC Championship game in 98. Other than that, Joe, I'm going home. I wasn't going to be able to do anything. I tried to have sex one time after the game. locked up oh girl thought she's about had to thought she's gonna have to call me a man bet i like this here hey hey hey joe she ain't she had to push me roll me off i'm just like this here

25:04Shannon Sharpe:were you ain't playing you laying low yeah i gotta lay out a mean demonstration yeah i already know it i already know it hey y 'all y 'all y 'all and y 'all ask some of them tricks i told y 'all to to your demonstration, I'm telling you. They'll do more than come back now, you hear me? Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. That was a problem. I mean, I used to have a cramping problem. Bad. Oh, after the game? It didn't matter after the game. I just had a bad cramping problem. Hamstring, back, everything just locked up. You mean charley horse. I had a charley horse problem. I had a cramping problem doing activities.

25:41Shannon Sharpe:You know, doing activities. as Ocho say horizontal activity. Yeah. It was bad.

25:46Chad Johnson:Yeah.

25:47Shannon Sharpe:It was bad, bad. It was a bad joke. And I could, because I'm a sweater. I perspire. So it gotta be like 62 in the room.

26:01Chad Johnson:Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And you in there trying to show out too? Yeah, I already know it. Huh? Yeah, I already know it. I already know it. What? I already know it. I already know it. That boy trying to show out. He ain't playing. Yeah, you think she going to be talking about Uncle Shea Shea in the group chat? No. No. Oh, she is.

26:21Shannon Sharpe:She going to be talking. Boy, he put out a mean demonstration. He going to be. Hey. Hey, listen, I don't want to get myself in no trouble, Uncle Joe. But, you know, I used to have a little pamphlet back in the day. You know, it come with a menu, you know. Yeah. Yeah, you come with a little menu. So based on what you want, you get the pick from. You know, you go to the massage parlor. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And they got different packages you can pick? Yeah. What you want? But that's what I had back in the day, boy. I'm talking about she down to the T. She - They down to the T.

26:51Chad Johnson:What do you want? Order it up. Yes, sir. Yeah, I'm talking about so like if she got on there and she ordered groceries, eight, she - Yeah, hey, listen.

27:00Shannon Sharpe:Oh, Lord Jesus. Yeah, hey, I got something called the candle wax delight. You know, 30 minute full plate with the candle wax. Hold on, I don't wanna give myself no trouble, Joe. Hold on. I'm gonna see if I can find one of my old menus, Joe. Yeah, I would like a gigolo in the inner center, Joe. Yeah. Yeah, Joe, some of the things your man wasn't doing for you, you know, I was in the news, they'd be mad. You come at me and get that word. Damn. I don't know how this man do. I mean, for me to even think about something like that, I gotta know you about three, four years. Nah, no, you don't. No, you don't.

27:40Shannon Sharpe:Oh, yes, I do. I know you don't. Off the muscle? Off the rim? From the top to the bottom? Hey, I meet you, and then, oh, no, sir. Oh, yeah. Never in a day.

27:49Chad Johnson:You got to go to work, bro. You got one life to live, ain't it? Hey, hey, oh, he said they got to pay like they weigh. Hey, hey, hey, don't you know, a package wasn't nothing. You know,$100, deluxe package,$100. Yeah. You probably made some good money doing that, too, ain't it, man? Yeah, bye, bye.

28:05Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, the big girl liked them skinny ones, because you know Ocho, Ocho done gained like 20 pounds, 25 pounds since he been out of college.

28:11Chad Johnson:Yeah.

28:12Shannon Sharpe:But them skinny, you know the big girl like them skinny, they pay.

28:15Chad Johnson:Yeah. Oh yeah, you know, hey Joe, when I used to dance in LA at 97, 98, at the right track, you know, you always wanna dance for the healthy women. I don't wanna say big. You always wanna - They the ones that payin'. Hey, hey, hey Joe, you gotta understand, boy, I'm a young fella with no money and I'm a good night on a Saturday after a game, I'm getting leaving what, maybe what, 2200? Damn. You make good money. Man, listen, man. Damn. Yeah.

28:51Shannon Sharpe:It was some good days, boy. Like I said, I just expend so much energy and that's why after the games even in high school, I couldn't do nothing. For the most part, I always went home because my grandmother was home, my brother was in college, and my grandmother was home. It was just her and my nephew at the time. My sister was gone out, and so my aunt would always, you know, every time I played, I always told them, because I had an aunt named Jane, and she would always ride the van or ride the bus back, and I was like, Coach, look, my aunt, I said, I can't play if you can't take my aunt home after the game.

29:28Shannon Sharpe:I don't understand, you're not supposed to take anybody that's not a team member. I was like, well, hell, y 'all want me to play on these football, basketball, track games, you're gonna take my aunt home. Cause she coming, she coming to all the games, you know. She coming to football games, she coming to basketball games, and she, hey, come on Jay, let's go. But anyway, so I mainly went home, but I learned early on, me and you know, being the young lady after the game, it wasn't, it wasn't, I wasn't gonna be able to, I wasn't gonna be able to have the performance like I had on the field or on the court.

29:58Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah.

29:59Shannon Sharpe:So it wasn't no sense of me setting myself up for failure.

30:01Chad Johnson:Right. And you already knew that, and that Charlie hole gonna kick in at the wrong time. I already know.

30:05Shannon Sharpe:I cramp now. I still cramp now at night in the bed. Wake up in the bed. Man, I wake up in the bed, man, that thing be still.

30:15Chad Johnson:It ain't been that calf muscle. Calf and hamstring.

30:19Shannon Sharpe:Ah! Ah! Yeah. Yeah. Hey, I don't quit. The only time I cramp, I got to play something. I got to play something. Joe, you know I play Sunday league. Yeah. on the big field, 11 v. 11.

30:33Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah, yeah. After a game like that, I cramp a little bit if I move wrong, if I turn wrong. Yeah. So I cramp with McCaff or McCawd. McCawd, I catch a little charley horse. Yeah, hey, hey. Just cramp, just to cramp, I ain't never had no issues. That mean y 'all ain't got enough sodium in your body, man. Y 'all gotta get some sodium in your body. Some who? Some sodium, some salt, some salt.

30:55Shannon Sharpe:Well, you know I got salt when I get my McDonald's. You know it's salt on my fries, Joe. but you know what I don't like I don't like to drink a whole lot Joe when I'm exercising I don't like it slushing around my stomach yeah so I'll sip a little bit but for the most part in practice in a two and a two and a half hour practice I might drink a cup of water yeah I can't have it

31:15Chad Johnson:on my stomach yeah now now hey not in them strenuous practice I'm telling you bro not in them strenuous hard practice like like like that I was used to in college here you couldn't put a out on your stomach. It was coming up.

31:27Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, yeah. And I don't like, you know, some people like, oh, Joe, you know, we out there and they put the cold towels in the water. Don't put that on my head. I don't want that. You don't like it? No, hell no. No. No. But look, hopefully this situation with James Harden gets resolved. I guess the gun laws vary from state to state. Most southern states open carry. It used to be you needed a firearm, a concealed weapon permit. Now you don't even need the permit in Georgia. You need none of that. Miami don't need it either. And you can take it anywhere except the federal building.

32:08Chad Johnson:Hey, boy walk around with clips this long in they gun. Come on, man. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Don't got drums. Come on, man. I mean, come on now.

32:19Shannon Sharpe:My grandfather used to always say, boy, if you got to take a gun somewhere, you don't need to be there to party. Woo, hello. Cause you already know somebody spill a drink, somebody step on somebody toes, somebody touch somebody girl, that thing about to snap off.

32:31Chad Johnson:Yeah, hey, hey. I ain't like that.

32:33Shannon Sharpe:And I'm one of those guys Joe, if I, I don't care how bad she is, if I see her with someone. Yeah, let her go, leave it alone. Yeah! Leave it alone. These dum-dums, hey, hey, hey you got something on your back. You know what I'm saying? Oh, you got something on your back, oh, you with him. Yeah. Come on bro, what are you supposed to, At the end of the day, they're still a man.

32:56Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah, yeah.

32:57Shannon Sharpe:You can't just look at it just because you're a Bronco and you're going to disrespect this man. Come on, bro. Leave that alone. Hey, Joe.

33:04Chad Johnson:What's that? What's that, bro? What's that? Yeah, that's my concealed permit, bro. Oh, that's your concealed permit? What you carrying? Huh? What you carrying? I mean, you know, little Sig, little 945. I can carry my AR-15. I just got that. I can't have it loaded. Whoa, whoa, whoa. What the hell you gonna be doing carrying an AR-15? Joe, you know, I be hunting, Joe. I know y 'all - Hey, I be hunting down there. Man, that's a military rifle. That gun's made for the military. I know it's made for the military, but you just never know. You know, down in this crib, man. I'm in Miami. What you hunting with a damn AR though?

33:42Oh, like sometimes the squirrel. Hopefully in the military. A squirrel?

33:47Chad Johnson:Hell, ain't gonna be nothing left. You hunting with an AR? I ain't finna eat him. I'm just, he can't be coming in the house, man, messing up my garbage. Oh, you saying, you sending a message. Yeah, that's it. I ain't trying to hit him. Trying to hit him, but just scare him a little bit. Hey, he let his homies know.

34:03Shannon Sharpe:Robby, what you carry? What you carry? A sig what? A P what? Huh? Sig nine, P226, or what you carry? Nah, a sig 226. Okay. How many shots? 12, 16? I got extended clip in that thing, Joe. 24? Yeah. How you gonna extend the clip in the seat? I've been seeing a game with this big. They make anything for you, hear me? I'm saying, what you need that many shots for though? Just in case I miss, cause I only got one eye. Yeah, but what I'm saying?

34:39Shannon Sharpe:Oh man, look at it, man.

34:40Chad Johnson:It don't take that many of them shots, man. That's all I'm saying.

34:44Shannon Sharpe:All he do is gonna have a bunch of empty cases, are empty rounds on the ground. Hey, hey, hey,

34:51Chad Johnson:unless you're going to be behind the car with that thing pointed out like that. Just shoot. You're letting it rip, Joe. I play, Joe, I just be cautious sometimes. You know, you never, I like to think everybody love and like me, you know, but Joe, you never know, Joe. Yeah, you already know.

35:11Shannon Sharpe:But the thing is, I try, look, as much as you try the most dangerous place is the gas station. So my antenna's up. I ain't finna hold you. My antenna is up.

35:26Chad Johnson:It make you naturally just paranoid, bro. It does, and I hate it. I hate being like this, man. You can't help it. Hey, hey, hey, hey, it be on a swivel like you, hey. It does. And people are like, why you looking around?

35:38Shannon Sharpe:Cause I don't want nobody to get the drop on me. I don't. I mean, look. I mean, there was a time once upon a time, guys. I threw caution to the wind. Hey, I leave my keys, I leave the keys in the car. I go into the store, get me a couple of lottery tickets, buy the honey bun and a drink, and come back and not even think anything about it.

36:01Chad Johnson:Yeah. Now, somebody been and went to your whole damn car.

36:07Shannon Sharpe:Man, look here, and I just, look, I just, hey. And people, you know, like, bro, just don't walk up on me like that, bro. Man, you know, hey, bro, I don't know what you want because I don't know you.

36:21Chad Johnson:Right, right.

36:25Shannon Sharpe:So I hate, and I hate Jack, don't get me wrong. I hate being like that. I really, really do. You got to though, you got to be cautious. In today's society, you've kind of left me no choice.

36:38Chad Johnson:Right, right, facts. Yeah, hey, Joe, when you shoot, how you shoot, Joe? you shoot straight ahead. I turn that thing to the side, Joe. Oh, bro, now he - You gotta stop watching movies. Now he think he old dog. Now he think you - I ain't old dog. I ain't turning to the side. Yeah, what you mean? Why are you shooting to the side? Hey, what you think you doing? Because I don't want to block my vision because you know I only got one eye. If I'm shooting like this, I'm blocking my vision so I got to turn sideways so I can see.

37:07Shannon Sharpe:No, ain't nobody shooting no good like this. Let that helmet fly like that right there.

37:12Chad Johnson:Ocho, I'm hoping like, heck, I ain't never got to use mine. You hear me? Yeah, same thing. Same. I got mine for protection, Joe. You know? Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's what I'm trying to tell you. Two hands all day. You know? Oh, like this, Joe? Like that, that, that. Two hands. Quick, quick, quick. Yeah. Yeah, two hands. Hey, I know what you're talking about. Hey, you know what's funny? Hey, you know the dude who always, the self-defense guy, the funny clips? You know what I'm talking about? The heavyset man. I think I know what you're talking about. Hey, dog, he be so funny. This is how you disarm a guy with a gun.

37:43He come up with all these, man please.

37:46Shannon Sharpe:And then when people try that, they're talking about pop, and then they go. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, him. And he's funny, he's funny, I forgot his name. Yeah. Nah, but like I said, hopefully everything works out okay. This is a misdemeanor charge, it's supposed to be holstered. It used to be Joe, I mean some states you gotta have it in the glove box, you know some people. I'm like, there's like well, The clip needs to be here. What good is a gun without the clip in it? What the hell? At all, you're going to be done.

38:19Chad Johnson:Man, you ain't going to have time to get to anything.

38:23Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Man, please. That be saying some dumb stuff. And I ain't really trying to do that. Copenhagen Spit Free packs American-grown tobacco into pouches. 41:43Shannon Sharpe:Also, we have some very sad news. former NFL pass rusher Alden Smith has passed away at just 36 years of age. The coordinators released a statement. We are devastated by the sudden and tragic passing of Alden Smith. Alden, undeniably his talent, and sheer dominance on the field were on display from the moment he joined our organization. Having recorded one of the best rookie seasons in NFL Football League history, beyond his excellence as a player, Alden will be remembered for his infectious smile that lit up every room he walked in. Our entire organization sends its deepest condolences to the Smith family and all that knew and loved Alden.

42:19Shannon Sharpe:In 2024, Smith had attempted to turn his own struggles into methods of helping young athletes adjust to the pressures and pitfalls of such a high-profile job. He began the project called I Am Loading with I Am Mean Intelligent Movement. The goal was to offer mentorship, recovery, coaching for those who had endured similar life challenges. That offseason, he also served as a mentor to the rookie classes of the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Oakland, excuse me, the Las Vegas Raiders, appearing on the Keyshawn Johnson's podcast. All facts, no breaks, June the 24th. Smith told Johnson he was hoping his journey could be a cautionary tale for young players trying to make their way.

43:03Shannon Sharpe:Alderman Smith dead at the age of 36. Have we found out what the cause was? No, not yet, huh? I was reading. They say when he arrived at the hospital, he was DOA. With DOA, yeah. I don't know. Obviously, we know some struggles that he had. Yes, sir. You know, we were just hoping all for the best he had. I mean, what did he have, 33 and a half sacks in his first 32 games? He was on a Reggie White historic pace. Yes. And the demons got a hold of him.

43:36Chad Johnson:Mm-hmm.

43:38Shannon Sharpe:And he couldn't shake him. and I don't know as the statement read my thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family and all the loved ones and everybody that knew Alden Smith it's just sad it's just sad 36 years of age 36 life you don't know you don't know the demons that a person going through you don't know what a person is dealing with you don't you know and a lot of times you know

44:14Shannon Sharpe:man you alright yeah I'm good

44:19Shannon Sharpe:are you really good though nope are you really good you know

44:27Chad Johnson:a lot of people say that because they don't want to be a burden bro

44:30Shannon Sharpe:they don't they don't Joe they don't and I I feel very privileged that every time Burns called me, he'll ask, homeboy, you good? I say, yeah, I'm good. He said, homeboy, you really good now? Or you just telling me that? Right. I said, homeboy, I'm good. I'm good this time, I'm really good.

44:53Shannon Sharpe:They say we create our demons. Yes, sir. Only we can chase them away. Yeah. That's the hard part though, the chasing away part. because Ocho every day for the rest of your life just imagine you being on parole for the rest of your life you being on probation for the rest of your life if you got an addiction if you got an alcohol addiction whatever it is you got to go every day and not partake I've got to drive by a bar I've got to drive by a liquor store I got to drive a convenience store and if I go in the convenience store and I get a drink I get a honey bun or potato chips I've got to walk by the beer section i gotta walk by the alcohol section and say if i go to if i go to a restaurant and have dinner with my family friends or loved ones everybody else is ordering i'm very very cautious of that even when i come on when they come on club shay shay if they've dealt with something we have water we don't have we don't offer them a drink right yeah that's hard man i know what it's like because my my my dad I had dealt with that.

45:59Shannon Sharpe:And I know how I am. You know, I come over here and I have one drink with you. I don't drink when I'm out because I know me. I have a very addictive personality. The same thing that makes you great makes you fallible. Because you don't know how to turn it off. You don't know when to stop training. You don't know when to stop running those routes. You don't know when to stop shooting those baskets. the things that make you the greatest are the things that make you most fallible yeah that's that's how it is with uh with hurricane uncle joe my old girl my mama yeah boy joe growing up a lot of people asked me you know i know you drink boy you know you funny the perception on how people view me from the outside looking in you would think i drink and smoke weed no part sitting on the couch no shirt bottling hand but nah just seeing my mama joe you know you know, when I was younger and watching someone that I love turning into someone that I didn't even recognize early in the mornings.

47:02Chad Johnson:Yeah. What you do is not breakfast. It's that goddamn Tanqueray, mix of ruby red juice. Grapefruit juice, huh? Yeah. Early in the morning, that's your breakfast. At lunch, the same thing. At dinner, same thing. And it was a constant and, boy, Joe, when she get mad? Man? Oh, they got that licking up system?

47:25Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Oh, Joe, your mama drank that Tangeray? What? What a Tangeray, Jay?

47:32Chad Johnson:Ooh. You gotta be different on your arm. Yes, sir. Hey, hey.

47:36Shannon Sharpe:That Tangeray, that Seagram's?

47:38Chad Johnson:Yeah. That for them hardcore.

47:41Shannon Sharpe:I mean, you hardcore.

47:43Chad Johnson:Hey, that would catch drinking back one for.

47:45Shannon Sharpe:Joe, that ain't no Belvedere.

47:49Chad Johnson:Nah. That ain't no Kettle One. No, sir. Hey, what my grandma used to say, man, girl, you need to stop. You're drinking like a fish. It's going to be the death of you. Yeah. Every time they get into it, you stop drinking like a fish, it's going to be the death of you. Yeah. On the noon, day and night, you're always drinking. What do you think my mama died of? Drinking. The top 10 in the East will play the best in the West on June 30th.

51:06Shannon Sharpe:Minnesota had won eight in a row. Miles had 12 points in the fourth quarter. Look.

51:11Chad Johnson:You see Miles, don't you?

51:13Shannon Sharpe:Oh, she liked that. but you know what somebody said I think I read if they were starting a team they would start a team with Paige Becker instead of Asia Wilson

51:26Chad Johnson:come on man

51:29Shannon Sharpe:if I'm starting a team in NBA in WNBA history I might start with Asia now if you tell me I'm going to get a younger Cynthia Cooper we might have an argument but I'm not right now If you say right now, I'm gonna start a team, they ain't taking nobody over. They just got my goddamn thing.

51:52Chad Johnson:Man.

51:53Shannon Sharpe:She'll walk in double-double, and she play both ends of the court.

51:58Chad Johnson:Yeah. I don't know, I think my girl Lisa Leslie give her hell, though. I think Lisa give her hell.

52:07Shannon Sharpe:She too quick for Lisa.

52:09Chad Johnson:Lisa was quick, huh? Hey, that lefty.

52:14Shannon Sharpe:That lefty, that ain't. Hey, man, that girl, she bad.

52:17Chad Johnson:She is, she is. She tough, she tough. I think that'll be a hell of a matchup there, boy.

52:28Shannon Sharpe:Man, she, hey. And then the other night, Chelsea hit. They starting to get back in the rhythm. You see Jackie Young. Jackie Young the other night had 29. Yeah. And then you had Chelsea Gray had nine threes the other night. Asia's been the constant. Yeah. 34 and 12. We see tonight she had 24 and 12. I mean, she's just phenomenal. She just, and she's 30. Let us think if she wins the MVP, Joe, she going to have five MVPs by the age of 30? Joe, that crazy.

53:03Chad Johnson:Hey, she can go, though. She can go. She can go. Hey man, but this Olivia Miles girl, huh? Oh, she's nice. That's more from Notre Dame, Joe. Bruh, Ocho.

53:14Shannon Sharpe:She started at Notre Dame, she transferred to TCU. Okay, okay, with the handle, she got the handle, huh? Ooh.

53:20Chad Johnson:Yeah, she's nice. She can do it all. She at 29 tonight, she cutting up right there.

53:25Shannon Sharpe:She can do it all. And look, I'm from Georgia, so I know Maya Moore. Maya Moore, I knew Maya Moore when she went to Coliseos. She's special. she's special now look she saw a bigger calling for her yeah that she wanted to help absolutely believe an innocent man get justice yeah and she devoted her life to that right but as far as i mean she had a jump shot that girl was phenomenal she was for not hey joe you talking about a mini Ain't no woman touching her midi.

54:04Chad Johnson:Nah, she was cold. She understood how to get the spots on the floor and raise up and shoot. She understood the game, let alone just her jump shot. She was cold, bro. I ain't going to lie. I was selfish when she retired. I'm like, damn. Like, you know. Copenhagen's spit-free pouches are packed full of American-grown tobacco. Made for welders. Stuck behind masks. 57:29Shannon Sharpe:Check this out, Joe. Kelsey Plum scored a career-high 43 points in the Sparks' OT win over the Mercury. Plum's career-high 43 offset Kalaya Cooper's career-best 41. Plum made 14 of 26 shots, five three-pointers, and was 10 of 12 from the free-throw line, and seven assists. Ray Burrell came off the bench and scored a career-high 24 points for the Los Angeles Sparks. And Nneka Agumake actually chipped in with 15 points and 15 rebounds. Damn, 40 points. Brunson get 41. Plum get 43. Kalaya Cooper gets 41. But there was balling going on tonight, Joe.

58:11Chad Johnson:The Plum nice, though. Oh, man, that lefty? That lefty, she cold. She cold. She got great pace. understanding how to get to her spots as well. She can shoot it. She understands the game, bro. I enjoy watching her play. I enjoy watching her play in the Unrival League when she played in the one-on-ones. Yes, yes. She didn't win it, but I enjoy watching her play.

58:34Shannon Sharpe:Look, I see when her and Asia was on the same team. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, yeah. Think about her, Asia, Jackie Young, Chelsea Gray. Yeah. All on one team. Yeah. But you know, sometimes Joe, she's like, I like it, but I really shouldn't be the third or fourth option.

58:55Chad Johnson:Right. And she ain't lie. Right.

58:57Shannon Sharpe:She shouldn't be. She shouldn't. Hey, you got to realize before Clayton Clark, she had the most points for a woman in college. In collegiate basketball history.

59:08Chad Johnson:Yep.

59:08Shannon Sharpe:She was a bucket.

59:10Chad Johnson:And watched her.

59:11Shannon Sharpe:Yes, she was a bucket. Well, let me say, I say was, that means past tense. She is a bucket. Yeah, she can go. She is currently a bucket.

59:19Chad Johnson:She can go. She can go.

59:22Shannon Sharpe:Ooh. But they putting up some numbers tonight. I like this.

59:27Chad Johnson:And listen. Hey, the girls game changing, fellas.

59:31Shannon Sharpe:I'm happy for them. I'm happy that they're making millions of dollars a year. Hello. They've earned that right. They put their time in. They're playing unbelievable basketball. I like this. Congratulations to them. Obviously, there are a lot of people that paid their dues that didn't make a whole lot of money. The Lisa Leslie's and the Lauren Jackson's and the Cynthia Cooper's and the Cheryl Swoops and all those that didn't make a whole lot of money. But that's how it goes. As a sport advances, look, there are guys that played before us on show. They didn't make a whole lot of money. I remember guys saying, man, they used to have to go get jobs in the offseason.

1:00:10Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Yeah. They laid the foundation before. They laid the foundation. You're absolutely right. And so congratulations to the WNBA and the women that are starting to finally make a decent living. And they don't have to go overseas. They have the unrivaled league that they can make a couple hundred thousand dollars on top of the Supermax players that's making a million dollars. That's a nice little living. Nice little living. Yep.

1:00:35Chad Johnson:I agree.

1:00:36Shannon Sharpe:Now it's time for our final segment of the evening. It's time for Q. Hey.

1:00:44Hold on, I gotta hit 50 pushups

1:00:47Shannon Sharpe:Man, what's wrong with this dude? I don't know Before we get to our super chat We've got four video voicemails From our Discord Let's take a listen at the first one Yo, what's up, Nightcap? I told you, boy Bones, baby Five bones We did it, baby We did it I did it Yo, we did Ocho tonight be unbearable Ocho I want I want you to talk your crap tonight I want Joe

1:01:15Chad Johnson:to be like Ocho you gotta chill Ocho you gotta chill you know ball baby you spoke that thing see the power of the tongue baby you spoke it and it came to exist we chance baby baby remember that we gonna be in your head boy all summer you know what BTA baby BTA BTA yo no disrespect Joe shout out to Atlanta man they were at least a bit dragging in us New York Knicks baby I want you to lose hey oh man I told you I'm gonna do it I told you how to series would go I told you who would win game five I told you what's gonna happen and I simply understood the assignment the assignment was we're gonna go to we're gonna go to San Antonio the Puerto Rican day parade is on Sunday.

1:02:05So we're going to win. So you have, we won the trophy, won the championship. We come on back. We celebrate. Go at their party. It is what it is.

1:02:20Shannon Sharpe:They're the champs. They earned it. Yep, they did it. Jalen Brunson was sensational. Let's take a listen to our next one. Damn, I'm swole.

1:02:33Chad Johnson:Iso and King Ocho Ocho believed in us from day one he's been saying Knicks the whole time and Joe been hating who's the champions now Joe said we wasn't going to win the game love my cat hello damn

1:02:53Shannon Sharpe:hello I know I shouldn't have followed Joe here you go I said hey I said, Ocho, I said, the way the Knicks play right now, they beat either Funda or the Spurs. You know, man, they might not win a game. I know I should have followed you, Joe. I told you. I told you. Hey, listen. Hey, next year, when we hit the basketball segments, when we hit basketball season, I need y 'all to follow behind me. Do you understand, Joe? You don't understand how many people I made money through these series by listening to me on Nightcap?

1:03:28Chad Johnson:Man, damn all that. Hey, don't be that guy. Don't be that guy, okay? Don't be that guy, Unc. Don't be that guy.

1:03:36Shannon Sharpe:I should follow you, Joe.

1:03:37Chad Johnson:Ocho. Yeah. You know, congratulations, partner. Thank you. Thank you. You know what I'm saying? You ain't gonna apologize. Yeah. Say, I'm sick. Hey, Joe, tell me, you know, Ocho, I'm sorry. Man, come on. Oh, come on, Unc. Next question. Here. What? Okay.

1:03:54Shannon Sharpe:Let's go to the next one.

1:03:56Chad Johnson:What up, Unc? What up, Iso? Oh, Cho. Hey, man, I got one question for y 'all. Is the defense on Jalen Brunson that bad, or is he just that good of a shooter? And three words I know Unk is saying in this first quarter, Lord have mercy. De 'Aaron Fox, Julian Champagne. What do you say? You can't accept something in a win that you wouldn't in a loss. Listen, listen. Jalen Brunson is that good, fellas. He is. He is that good. When you talk about being able to create space and keep you off balance, starting, stopping, stopping on the dime, creating different opportunities, nobody's been better than him in that, especially in the clutch game situations when you know the ball is coming to him and he still delivers.

1:04:48Chad Johnson:Get it, man, his props, bro. Bad boy.

1:04:52Shannon Sharpe:You right, Joe. I haven't been to hold you on that one. You right. You're absolutely right. It's him. Yeah. He's a special player. Yeah. And to see a second-round draft pick and to see what he's become when getting an opportunity to lead a team, that's what he needed. He wasn't going to be this with Luka. It was like, man, they could have kept him. Yeah, they could have kept him. He wasn't going to be this. Nope. Because how are you going to have the ball? Luka going to have the ball.

1:05:19Chad Johnson:Every time.

1:05:21Shannon Sharpe:So he needed his own team, and that's okay.

1:05:30damn p-ocho i like i like the way that sound too bro man let's take a listen man i just want to give a shout out to the whole my cap family not just unk and ocho and iso but everybody involved you know from the people who make the wonderful graphics all the time y 'all really don't use like the people who behind the scenes thank the cameras even the people in the discord just the whole community you know i'm grateful and nightcap has given us some great laughs not just you know me but my wife as well and i recently had a baby so postpartum my wife has been watching nightcap a lot and she says that it's been helping her to laugh when you know she needs it when she's having a tough time so she wanted me to put leave that message for y 'all so

1:06:12Chad Johnson:thank you again to the whole nightcap fam already man thank you yeah thank you you and the wife congratulations yep on the little one yes sir what they do say my grandma always said two is better than one so i don't know at what point um you know she's a little healthy but you get back in there you get back and have you another one you hear me already yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah you you got to knock them out knock them out back back to back joe back to back bang bang so i appreciate you watching i'm glad we can make a difference in in in your wife and helping her through tough times with some laughter.

1:06:50Chad Johnson:Damn. Man, I said jump right back in now. You got to get back in there. We're just having one.

1:06:57Shannon Sharpe:Here's our last one.

1:07:05Shannon Sharpe:That was the last one? Okay. When Fox gets the boot, take Mick Johnson too. Damn. Already?

1:07:15Chad Johnson:Nah, they ain't gonna do that.

1:07:17Shannon Sharpe:They're not getting rid of Mitch. I mean, look, you know, hey, it'll be great. I mean, there are not very many coaches that win, you know, basically their first full year of coaching. Because remember, he took over for Pop after Pop got sick. Yep. You know, normally you have to go through something before you become a champion. Everybody don't get to be like Pat Riley, take over, and then all of a sudden they win championship. but hey. Victor Wimbenyama, Barack Obama, Emperor Nugru was the llama, Nixon five. Hey, Ocho Aiso, Dallas messed up choosing Luka over Jalen.

1:07:58Chad Johnson:Well, you can't necessarily say that.

1:08:02Shannon Sharpe:And they would do it again. Knowing what they know now, they would still choose Luka. Yep, yep, yep, absolutely. Fox and Castle are on the trading block. Fox can't produce in the clutch. Castle's just a defender. Trade them for Greek freak. I would absolutely not do that. Hell no. I would definitely try to, you know, if me and Joe, we've kind of talked about this, Castle and Harper needs to be your backcourt.

1:08:27Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah. It's just going to be hard to, if you're trying to get rid of Fox with the salary he's going to be making. And I still think he's a great player, man. I know he made some unfortunate errors throughout this postseason, but I wouldn't just give up on him.

1:08:46Shannon Sharpe:I can't, Joe, a guy making$50 million, I can't bring him off the bench.

1:08:52Chad Johnson:You can't, Joe. I understand that part. That's why I say either Champagne or Veseal, one of them going to have to go to the bench.

1:09:02Shannon Sharpe:You're extremely small when you play with that, with a lineup like that, Joe. When no Joe was sick, y 'all gave him hell. Spray a Lysol using German, but ISO been cleared his throat for about two weeks. And nobody said nothing. Damn, Joe. You know what? You good, Joe? I didn't mention it. I wasn't gonna say nothing.

1:09:22Chad Johnson:Oh, see, here we go, boy. Hey, y 'all quick to jump on somebody's ship, ain't it, man? yeah i ain't i ain't no i ain't i ain't want to say nothing let me try to get you joe let me try to get you joe and they look ain't looking for any little thing any man i know i mean to joe you done had some of your throat the past two weeks joe whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa i'm just saying i ain't saying it's nothing i'm just saying you know might want to get that check are you you been doing you've been doing that a lot though joe i'm just saying i've been buying my business over here yeah i don't know what you got stuck in there wow this how y 'all I ain't gonna draw Ankin too.

1:09:58Shannon Sharpe:Wow. The chat brought it to my attention. Yeah, I heard it. I just ignored it. I ain't really want to, you know, I ain't want to go there. Yeah, I ain't want to draw no attention to it because that's what, you know, we're in this together. So I ain't going to draw no attention to it.

1:10:10Chad Johnson:Yeah, I'm good. I'm good. I'm good. I'm good, fellas. I appreciate y 'all, but I'm good. I'm good. All right. You sure? Yeah. Okay. I need to hit another 50.

1:10:25Shannon Sharpe:This postseason has taught us to never question Ocho's basketball knowledge. Nixon 5.

1:10:31Chad Johnson:Oh my God.

1:10:35Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, tell Iso and Unk, this is your show tonight. They can't say basket or ball. Ocho gets an honorary finals MVP. He tried to tell y 'all.

1:10:47Chad Johnson:They ain't biased, isn't it?

1:10:49Shannon Sharpe:So many rich New Yorkers, they basically went and made it a home game. I think it's great for sports when New York wins, though. It just draws so much attention.

1:10:58Chad Johnson:It is. Did you see all the fans that the Knicks had at that?

1:11:02Shannon Sharpe:Hey, man, they tried to take it out the board. Ticket back. Hey, Ticket back said, y 'all can't do that. See, if you out of town, you can't buy no tickets. Damn. Hey, did they really cancel people tickets? I saw that. I saw that on Twitter. They were trying to, but they couldn't. Damn.

1:11:21Shannon Sharpe:good news the new york knicks won the nba finals bad news new york mayor better call the national guard hey i've been saying that boy seeing how good the next team is would they have beaten okc yep yeah yeah they got okc coach and fox need to be investigated immediately Boy they on Coach Johnson as much as they on Coach Fox I mean on De 'Aaron Fox

1:11:51Chad Johnson:They both told y 'all in their press conference Look Mitch Johnson said he's supposed to have been fired A hundred times ago A hundred and one might get him Yeah Dr.

1:12:03Shannon Sharpe:Frank and Bellamy When Ocho Terry y 'all Bears is ripe get your basket Oh man come on There you go doc come on doc Hey listen to me now Weming needs to learn to stop pulling up from three like he's courage. The Spurs inexperienced stood out big time. It absolutely did.

1:12:21Chad Johnson:Yeah, especially late game.

1:12:25Shannon Sharpe:Victor Wemingama, Hakuna Matata, Dame Dollar. They can find. I think the Spurs can use another physical athletic at the five also. Fox should be traded for additional pieces if it can be done. Big Body Brunson carried the Knicks on his back. Congratulations to the New York Knicks. Yes, sir. Wimby was extremely disappointing. He needs to tighten his handle, get the move, and get on the Giannis weight room program. He definitely needs to get on the weight. He definitely needs to get stronger. He definitely needs to get stronger. If he come back looking like Giannis, he ain't going to be able to do that.

1:13:05Shannon Sharpe:He ain't going to be able to do that. That's not his body structure. Nah. But he needs to control his breathing, Joe. He needs to go to a breathing expert to control his breathing. Right. He gets so hyped. He gets so worked up so early that he goes anaerobic and then basically he's just like spit.

1:13:21Chad Johnson:Ain't got nothing left in the tank when they come in that fourth quarter. Hey, man, look, I even thought even when the Spurs had the game on the control and then late in that third quarter, they should have just left him out the whole third quarter. They brought him in with like two minutes left in the third. But they had a nice little lead. I thought they should have left him out the whole third quarter.

1:13:40Shannon Sharpe:The problem is, Joe, is that Cornette didn't give you anything. Because, you know, if you remember, when they played the Thunder, they take him out, Cornette could hold his own.

1:13:50Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah, Cornette won't give him nothing, bro.

1:13:54Shannon Sharpe:Nothing. The apologies got to be as loud as the disrespect on Brunson's name. I don't think anybody disrespected Brunson. They knew what he was. He was the clutch player of the year. He's been an all-star. He's been better than advertised coming. If the Knicks thought he was going to be – the Knicks would have traded for him years ago.

1:14:13Chad Johnson:Yeah.

1:14:14Shannon Sharpe:Nobody saw – I thought he could be good because I saw him when Luka got hurt. I didn't think he was going to be this, Joe. I didn't think he was going to hold you. I didn't think he was going to be this.

1:14:22Chad Johnson:Right. I ain't neither, but I think considering the fact that, you know, in this finals, everybody had talked – you know, they talked pretty rough about Brunson the first three games, fellas. You know what I mean? saying that he was too ball dominant and needed to, you know, especially game three and four, they needed to go back to Cat. And for him to be able to come through the way he did in his finals and win finals MVP, I know he feels, you know, he feels great. Vindicated. Oh, man. He shut up all the Dallas.

1:14:50Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. All the Naysis. Yeah. As a native New Yorker, I can honestly say Spurs beat themselves. They need a closer on that squad. I mean. Harper needs to start at the point. Both Kurt and Phil Jackson made tough playoff lineup changes to help the team win. Fox crashing, cashing superstar checks with role-player receipts. You did. You know, remember? Steve Kurt inserted Andre Iguodala. Yep. Yeah.

1:15:24Shannon Sharpe:Pacers coming for them far to let Knicks, easiest run in playoff history. Hold this L. Pacers are going to put an end to the New York nonsense. The Pacers are the Knicks' dad. Hey, Ocho, I sold a teammate that would have said Darren Fox on the sideline after taking all those terrible threes.

1:15:45Chad Johnson:He said what?

1:15:47Shannon Sharpe:He's asking what would we have said to Darren Fox after he kept taking all those horrible threes.

1:15:53Chad Johnson:When? Talking about tonight?

1:15:54Shannon Sharpe:Yes. Tell him, bro, we don't need that. Yeah. because the thing is, Joe, he was settling. Joe, that joke, hey, you see that joke, how he's changing start and stop and getting to the – he can get to any point on the court he want.

1:16:12Chad Johnson:Yeah.

1:16:13Shannon Sharpe:Sometimes I think guys get lazy and just want to jack up threes.

1:16:16Chad Johnson:Yeah, and I think due to the Spurs' lack of awareness as far as spacing, it made it hard for a lot of them. Even when Wimby operates, you know, it made it tough for him at times. You know what I mean? Because they ain't understand the spacer.

1:16:38Shannon Sharpe:Wimby needs to develop a postgame. He's shooting threes like he's Curry. He does. Yeah. And that's what I hate is that when guys fall, the guys fall in love with it, Joe.

1:16:48Chad Johnson:Yeah.

1:16:50Shannon Sharpe:Like Curry can shoot the three, but Curry put the ball on the floor and drive to the basket.

1:16:54Chad Johnson:Right.

1:16:57Right.

1:16:57Shannon Sharpe:He will.

1:17:01Chad Johnson:When we got to learn, bro.

1:17:04Shannon Sharpe:I had money on the Knicks tonight. So did De 'Aaron Fox.

1:17:10Chad Johnson:Come on now.

1:17:18Shannon Sharpe:OG now stands for Ocho Gangster. Stop doubting 85. I was in Philly when the Eagles won the Super Bowl, City torn to shreds. I can only imagine what New York City will look like. Grats to the Knicks. Someone check on Stephen A.

1:17:32Chad Johnson:Ooh-wee.

1:17:35Shannon Sharpe:Spurs need a veteran like LeBron James to the Spurs. Oh, if they get a 16-point lead, they damn sure he losing that game with Broncos. Oh, hell no. Yeah, he going to slow that game all the way down. Oh, yeah, he going to control the pace.

1:17:51Chad Johnson:Oh, yeah.

1:17:53Shannon Sharpe:Man, congrats to the Knicks. this series had me stressed. Let me go eat some groceries to calm my nerves. Hello. Hello.

1:18:00Chad Johnson:Whoa, whoa, whoa. There you go. Hey, I'm glad I could be a good influence on society, man. Huh? That's a way to expand your palate, boy.

1:18:12Shannon Sharpe:Your man need help. What a big three. Does this confirm? Ostradamus has the most elite basketball knowledge. Ocho play. Go, New York. Go, New York. Go. So every night on that, I kept a show from here on out.

1:18:27Chad Johnson:Hell no. Huh?

1:18:32Shannon Sharpe:Have y 'all noticed, they probably will be the first team to win the season, in-season championship and their championship. Yep, they won the NBA Cup.

1:18:41Chad Johnson:Hold on. OKC didn't win it last year when they won. They didn't win the cup. I think they won the cup in the.

1:18:48Shannon Sharpe:No, they didn't. Milwaukee did. Because remember? Lakers, Milwaukee, and now Knicks. Okay.

1:18:59Shannon Sharpe:Hey, Nightcap fam, can you wish me and my wife a happy 6th anniversary? I'm most definitely on them roads tonight and salt and pepper, Ocho. Hey, absolutely. Damn. Lester, happy 6th anniversary to you and your wife. Hopefully you had a great day. Hey, start out great, finish it off even better. You know, they do something for two something. Hello. Congratulations and I appreciate the support. Congratulations. Y 'all remember how Mike Brown was like the fifth or sixth coach on the New York that the Knicks interviewed after a few coaches turned the Knicks job down and felt like the Knicks were grabbing at straws with his hire?

1:19:34Shannon Sharpe:Yep, I remember that. Yeah. Looks like a no-brainer. Refs look the other way, but it's fine. Wimby won't play a game six anyway.

1:19:47Shannon Sharpe:Unk put some respect on the Knicks. Stop making excuses. Go New York, go New York, go. No excuses. Yep. I mean, you got a 16 point. I mean, when you come back, do you realize that the other team got to do some dumb stuff for you to come back? Yeah.

1:20:00Chad Johnson:Man.

1:20:02Shannon Sharpe:The team who was trading Cat to the Knicks was bad on them, but the Mavericks letting Jalen Brunson walk when he was up there with them trading Luca. Look.

1:20:12Chad Johnson:What y 'all want him to do?

1:20:13Shannon Sharpe:Brunson wasn't going to beat this with Luca. Y 'all see what? Think about it. LeBron James is great as he is. When Luka came, LeBron got out the ball. You think Jalen Bronson's going to have the ball with Luka? Come on, Chad.

1:20:31Shannon Sharpe:Bronson, Bronson has had the ball in his hand for 22 and a half season. Yeah. And they trade Luka, trade for Luka, and he get off the ball immediately.

1:20:48Shannon Sharpe:Brunson is where he's supposed to be.

1:20:51Chad Johnson:Yep.

1:20:53Shannon Sharpe:CP3 would have been clutch in this series just for the Spurs. Even if he doesn't play well, Ocho, Joe, maybe he's just a calming boy and say, guys, this is what we need to do. Yeah. We took them to the fourth quarter and used endurance. Yep. Took them out to the deep end. and drowned him. Every game. Give Ocho credit. He could have been on the glow tonight. Now it's early in the show, and I hope I didn't speak too soon. Congrats. Now he didn't glow too bad. I was nice and relaxed because, I mean, I'm used to winning. I'm used to being right. So I would just, you know. There he go. You know. We'll see.

1:21:33Shannon Sharpe:We'll see if you're right with them Bengals. Hey, what do you think about LeBron goes to the Spurs and wins seven rings?

1:21:41Chad Johnson:Nah. He ain't going to the Spurs, bro. No.

1:21:47Shannon Sharpe:Am I the only one to think Iso sounds exactly like Ice Cube when he speaks? Ocho, you on the – Iso, you on that cue?

1:21:56Chad Johnson:Nah, man. I don't know what he talking about.

1:22:00Shannon Sharpe:All jokes I took in school and life about the Knicks fan is worth – for this moment. NBA champions, I never thought I'd see it. Jalen Brunson and the entire Knicks team are legends forever in New York, and they absolutely are.

1:22:15Chad Johnson:No question.

1:22:15Shannon Sharpe:Let's go NBA champs. Ocho is a fortune teller. Thank you for continuing to pick the Knicks when Unk and Ocho, when Unk and Iso kept picking with their hearts. Hello. Oh, my God. T-Wolves at the Bounds got to be mad seeing Brunson Cat winning a chip. Now Villanova Knicks, first team to get the cup and the chip in the same season.

1:22:35Chad Johnson:Wow.

1:22:37Shannon Sharpe:As a short guy who'd been laughed at and looked down on his whole life, I couldn't be more motivated seeing Jalen Brunson's success win both the NBA Cup, NBA Finals in the same year. God bless him. Go New York, go. He was sensational. And they needed this Jalen Brunson tonight. The Jalen Brunson from the previous four games, Joe, wouldn't have pulled him through. This version of Jalen Brunson was needed tonight. And that's what the greats can do. When they need the best version of themselves, they can give you that.

1:23:10Chad Johnson:Absolutely.

1:23:11Shannon Sharpe:And he gave it to you tonight. Congratulations to the New York Knicks for the first time in 53 years. You are the NBA champion. Jalen Brunson is the finals MVP. Average 32.4 points per game. Woo! With a bucket. Only two guys in a closed-out game. To give you 45 as guards, won Jalen Brunson. And the other is Michael Jordan.

1:23:37Chad Johnson:Yeah.

1:24:49Shannon Sharpe:11-0. 11-0. Left no doubt with that performance tonight. Jalen Brunson joined Michael Jordan as the only guard since the merger in a 45-point closeout game in the NBA Finals. He was sensational, and the Knicks were great when greatness was required. So congratulations to the Knicks.
