In short
The hosts debate the worst NFL offseason trade/signing so far (Seahawks not paying Ken Walker/Rashad Shaheed deal; Jaguars benching Parker Washington; Rams trading for Miles Garrett; Patriots trading for A.J. Brown; Saints signing Travis Etienne; Buccaneers extending Baker Mayfield), then pivot to NBA storylines: Jeff Hafley’s Dolphins press-conference media turnout, LeBron’s “championship or bust” message for the 76ers, Luka Doncic’s comments on leading without LeBron, and Anthony Edwards’ humble offseason remarks about being Minnesota’s superstar.
Guests
No named podcast guests in the transcript. The discussion is between the hosts (referred to as Ocho, Joe, and Uncle Ocho).
Key claims
Garrett/A.J. Brown/Etienne injuries make those moves look especially “horrific.” LeBron frames Philly’s goal as avoiding a second-round exit. Luka says it feels “great” to lead without LeBron. Edwards takes the “modest/humble” route, saying he’s the superstar and wants All-NBA/MVP to unlock a projected Supermax (~$345M/4 years).
Notable examples
Miles Garrett out until Week 9; A.J. Brown on IR with midseason return; Travis Etienne hamstring; Baker Mayfield 0-3 with thumb dislocation; Edwards missing All-NBA threshold due to games played.

2:32Chad Johnson:trans actions this offseason which one looks the most horrific so far through three weeks the Seahawks paying Rashid Shahid 17 million instead of Ken Walker who makes only 14 million Jags decided not to play Parker Washington and he's been balling this entire season the Rams traded Miles Garrett to LA for Cleveland for Jerry Burst, a 2027 first rounder, a 2028 first rounder, a 2029 or a second and 29 and a third for Garrett. Zero tackles, win or IR, and will be out until week nine. Patriots giving up a 2028 first round and a 2027 fifth round pick for A.J. Brown, who went on IR and expected back midseason.
3:17Chad Johnson:Three receptions, 26 yards. Malik Willis, three years, 67 million, 0-3. One passing touchdowns, two interceptions. The Saints signing Travis Atien. Four years,$48 million. He's the fifth highest paid running back, 27th to Russian, and I think he tweaked his hamstring or something. Buccaneers extended Baker Mayfield. Three years,$165 million. 0-3, Baker dislocated his right thumb. We missed Ty Baker's stats in 10 games, 11 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, 2-8 record in his last 10 games.
3:49Joe Johnson:God damn. All of them sound bad.
3:52Chad Johnson:don't it joe they do i'm i'm going with k9 with seahouse not paying k9 that's what i'm going with i don't like that one joe you don't you ain't gotta like it that's what i'm going with oh my bad
4:09Chad Johnson:my bad joe what you going with i think the fake what was really skewing it is that the guys that they traded for they're out for a substantial amount of time yep like miles garrett is out until week nine. AJ Brown is out until midseason. Travis Atien, you know, played up really well in Jacksonville last year. And that's the thing that you hate. Go to a new team and I'm hurt already. Damn, that's the worst. That's the worst. Especially as a competitor, Ocho. That's the worst, bro. Because look, when you find a team who's invested in you and really believe in you, bro, the last thing you want is not to be able to deliver.
4:47Chad Johnson:Hell, the best ability is availability. And them guys ain't available, bro. I know that's tough. That's tough. Damn. Miles Garrett's going to have to come back and play out of his mind. And what's the chances of that happening? Think about it.
5:05Joe Johnson:But I don't think about that. When Miles Garrett does get back, when he does come back, I don't necessarily say he has to play out of his mind because I understand he's coming back from injury. I don't think he has anything to prove. Even though he got traded, we know what he can do. We know why he got traded. Yeah. We understand that. So for someone like Miles Garrett, who has done it countless times, again and again, year after year after year, we all understand. Well, at least I understand. You've gotten hurt, so you weren't able to give us what we're used to seeing from you in L.A. Are we going to get it at some point?
5:36Joe Johnson:Yes. But once you come back, there's no need to go out there and try to play Superman. Play within the confines of the defense, and as you see fit without getting yourself hurt. And when you can contribute, then so be it.
5:50Chad Johnson:he's going to have to play really, really well for the simple fact they gave up 30 points in the second half.
5:54Joe Johnson:Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. They gave up 30 points in the second half. Yeah, to the Bronx. Yeah, to the Bronx. Yeah, you're right. You're right. Yeah.
6:01Chad Johnson:And remember how they looked in Australia. Yeah. So, offensively, they're going to put up numbers. They're going to get Puka back at some point.
6:12Joe Johnson:Mm-hmm.
6:14Chad Johnson:The question is, what would be their record when Miles Garrett does come back. Yeah. Because the 49ers look real good. They do. I think, look, Seattle had a little bump in the road with the commanders. Yeah.
6:35Well, so.
6:36Joe Johnson:Hey, you say the 49ers look good, huh?
6:39Chad Johnson:Yeah, they look good.
6:40Joe Johnson:Yeah, don't they got to face – who y 'all got to play next again?
6:44Chad Johnson:They got Bronco Country. Okay. But we normally do, I mean, for me, I mean.
6:50Joe Johnson:I'm just making sure you know. Because all that yippin' and yappin' you were doing, boy, last night. Man, that's old news.
6:57Chad Johnson:That happened yesterday, Ocho. I'm moving on. I done moved on.
7:00Joe Johnson:You was feeling yourself.
7:01Chad Johnson:I ain't the type of guy that dwell on stuff, Joe. That ain't what I do.
7:07Joe Johnson:I can't wait this Sunday, boy.
7:11Chad Johnson:Yeah.
7:11Joe Johnson:It's going to come back to hunting, Ocho. Don't worry.
7:13Chad Johnson:Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. What you think will happen to you on Sunday? Who? What you call it? Oh, they riding in the shape? Will Anderson Jr. and Danelle Hunter, they riding in the shape.
7:27Joe Johnson:Mm-hmm.
7:27Chad Johnson:Hey, Joe, the Cowboys play Houston?
7:30Joe Johnson:Yeah. Woo-woo. And Houston do for a win at some point, Joe. Yeah.
7:35Chad Johnson:I can't think of a better team to get it against. What you mean? They ain't won no game here. They might well stay down there. Damn. Guess what? But after Sunday, y 'all have the same record, 1-3. Damn. Hey, that'll look bad, though, huh? Yeah, quarter pole, 1-3.
7:56Joe Johnson:Damn, one game and one win and four. I thought this is the year.
8:01Chad Johnson:Because you said the defense was supposed to be – last year they were 32nd in defense. This year they're only 30th. Man, y 'all talking about something that ain't even happened yet. Y 'all talking about something here that ain't even going to happen. Y 'all talking about what ifs. We know what's going to happen. Come on, man. Y 'all got to keep it 100.
8:18Joe Johnson:Yo, you the one that said damn true.
8:21Chad Johnson:I'm saying, but you already, you talking about a loss already. Damn, we ain't even played the game.
8:26Joe Johnson:Joe, you done played three games so far.

8:29Chad Johnson:Ocho, we one and two, bruh.
8:31Joe Johnson:You trying to make it seem like - About to be one and three. Nah, see, that's Unk doing that, Joe. That ain't me.
8:36Chad Johnson:But you right with him, though. He doing it. That's who he is. I already know he is. Coach O, what happened to Gotti? Greatest offense there is. Oh, man.
8:49Joe Johnson:They put that on they self. Yeah, it's – maybe it's still early, huh? What do you think?
8:57Chad Johnson:Still early? I mean, normally, after you do something, they give you a title. Yeah. The greatest show on turf wasn't the greatest show on turf until they won. Yeah. You know, you get the Bears, the Monsters of the Midway. You got the 2 ,000 Ravens. You get the 70 Steelers. I mean, normally you do the fun bunch, the Washington. Normally, that's what normally happens. How do you just arbitrarily give yourself a name? Dang. Well, hey, everybody move a little different now. We're in 2026. We're about to go into 2027. Things ain't how it used to be back in the 80s and the 60s. Right. It ain't like that no more.
9:32Chad Johnson:You know what I mean? I mean, the name wouldn't be the same if somebody, if you gave yourself that, hey, I want y 'all to call me ISO Joe.
9:40Listen, man, it's still early.
9:43Chad Johnson:We got a lot of football ahead of us, fellas.
9:45Joe Johnson:Yeah, yeah, we do, Joe.
9:46Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah, and I get it, I get it. Y 'all got a lot of more games to lose, you right. See what I'm saying? I know y 'all praying on my downfall. No, no, no. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I can see it, I see it. It's okay, Joe. It's okay. I like it when the deck stacked against me. It's okay. When the who? The deck. Oh. Oh, man, you need to chill, bro. But Joe, you dealt the cards. We let you shuffle. We let you deal the cards. You had the cards.
10:13Joe Johnson:He was doing all that talking before the season started. How good his team is. Hey, how they move. We got Caleb Downs and our defense. We going to be able to stop the run and stop the pass. Now all of a sudden, we against you. You were doing all the talking, not us. Damn, y 'all act like we out of it, though.
10:29Chad Johnson:That's what I'm saying. Y 'all act like the damn season. You are, but you don't know it yet. I don't say what? You are out of it, but you just don't know it yet.
10:41Chad Johnson:Y 'all out of it. You just ain't nobody told you yet. Y 'all gotta chill, man. Damn. 14:14Chad Johnson:Dolphins head coach Jeff Halfley looked surprised when he saw the lack of reporters at his press conference today. Take a listen, guys.
14:26Got everybody that's coming? It's Heat Media Day. Say that? It's Heat Media Day. I gotcha. Same time. All right.
14:39Chad Johnson:Damn, Ocho.
14:41Joe Johnson:Miami is a basketball town now? I mean, listen, it's Heat Media Day. We got Giannis, huh? We got Bam. You hear me? Man, come on, bruh.
14:50Chad Johnson:Come on.
14:50Joe Johnson:Hey, hey, come on. We over, man, my Dolphins 0-3. You know any of the media members reporting, reporting to Dolphins camp. hear what the coach got to say after after a loss it's really nothing to talk about we're bad right now hann is out with a torn acl our best running back one of the best in the league at that especially coming off a good season last year he just got paid he's gone for the season huh he down eight nine months huh what you want us to talk about oh yeah we just played a quarterback but you know we just got a quarterback from green bay i mean what we talking about yeah the record is gone.
15:26Joe Johnson:It's media day, right? Media day. For every NBA team. Yes. Huh? And matter of fact, all the reporters decided to go to the team that's going to come out the east this year. That's the Miami Heat. Oh, that's how
15:39Chad Johnson:you're going to flip it. That's how you're going to flip it.
15:41Joe Johnson:That's the Miami Heat. I will be that opening night against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Hey, Anthony Edwards. Huh? Hey, LaMelo Ball.
15:50Chad Johnson:Alright, you better watch out.
15:51Joe Johnson:Just understand, when you come into Miami and they can say a center on biscayne boulevard just know it's gonna be bta and they'll be courtside like spike
16:02Chad Johnson:huh i got my tickets already huh hey man hey hey hey you just oh you just open a can of whoop for the heat.
16:09Joe Johnson:Hey, it's one thing by the can. I got the lid to it, nigga. Oh.
16:15Joe Johnson:My bad. My bad. Huh? I'ma be there. I can't wait, boy. I can't wait to basketball.
16:24Chad Johnson:Yeah, I mean, it's gotta be tough to be a coach of a team. You don't have a whole lot of good players. I mean, you got players, but you're 0-3. Miami have that thing. And like you said, they got Giannis coming to town and you got one or two media members. He's like, he didn't have a problem with them having media day. He's like, oh, they got it at the same time, huh?
16:49Chad Johnson:Hey. Hey, I know he was so shy. They'd rather wait for four hours for the heat to go talk to you.
17:00Chad Johnson:Oh, boy. Speaking of NBA media days, at the sixth of media day, LeBron James has already said in the tone that his championship robust for Philly. Just take a listen to what LeBron had to say. In order for us to be great, we have to do things that are just not comfortable. We have to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. That is the best way to expedite being great. You have to fall in love with doing things that's uncomfortable. And if we can do that, then we can be a great team. If we don't do that, then we'll be like, oh, man, it was a great team on paper. and we had a lot of great talent, and we lost in the second round.
17:41Chad Johnson:Like, I don't want to do that. I didn't leave my family to lose in the second round. I know that for sure. So, work needs to be done, and I'm ready to put the work in. Thank you, LeBron. Yep.
17:54Joe Johnson:Hey, that was real cute, huh? He's talking about second round, huh? You might not even come out to East because we coming out. We're going to be the first seed. You hear me? Huh? He's going to be the first seed. Now, on paper, like he said, you look at the Steelers last year, you see how good they look on paper? Highest salary, you know, collectively as a group, but it meant nothing when it was time to play. I like LeBron. I like JB. I like Tyrese Maxey. I like Embiid. On paper, it looked good. It looked good. But what you going to do when you get on that court? Because I've been waiting on this.
18:28Joe Johnson:I've been waiting on basketball season to show y 'all how I evolved and how better I've gotten at the knowledge of the game. I can't wait. I can't wait. I don't want to do too much talking right now, but the fact that it was me today, now we get to get into NBA season, and I'm ready. I'm going to be in this thing like George Sodano. I'm going to be like Doris Burke. You hear me? It's not going to be Johnson anymore. My last name is going to be Legler.
18:59Chad Johnson:We less than a month away from hoops? Yeah. Bron, Bron look like he is from Philly with that damn bald head. He done finally win 187 with that beard. He look like he fit right in with them Philly boys, Ocho. Yeah. Yeah. He fought as long as he could though, Joe. He held on to a losing effort as long as he could. He did. But the bald head don't look bad on him. No, no, no, no. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
19:26Joe Johnson:Yeah, yeah. The bald head looks good. Hey, that's my twin.
19:28Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah. But I think Bron knows and understand. Like, yeah, he want to have a good time. He want to have fun. But at the same time, he want to add to his legacy as well. That man ain't went to Philly because he thought they could win a bunch of damn games. He went to Philly, Uncle Ocho, because he felt they can win a title. And like I told y 'all before, I said, man, listen. If I'm Bron, I would be on the phone with Embiid. What was the first thing he said? He said, I called Embiid. Me and him chopped it up, dot, dot, dot. Listen, man, that man going to be focused, bro. He going to be focused.
19:58Chad Johnson:Yeah. He just needed to know Embiid was healthy. That's it, bro. He just needed to know. Embiid said, look, I had no off-season surgery. This is as healthiest I've been in a long, long time. I'm ready. Yeah. Hey, hey, hey, um, not only are you healthy, but mentally, where's your mental state? Are you mentally locked in to where, you know, we can go out here and compete for one? Because I can't help you get a title, big fella. Heck, I obviously want to add to mine, too. You feel what I'm saying? Yeah. Hey, man, this is going to be a fun year. The Eastern Conference is, I think, it's gonna be a whole new look bro you know i think about it from the miami heat to philly to toronto to new york to boston hell that's five teams right there man hey hey to my hawks that's six i mean hey who my heart hey detroit dc uh man he talked about the east and had to squeeze them
20:49Joe Johnson:damn hawks in there somewhere he talked about man hey joe listen the hawks are nowhere you don't know What you mean? What you mean we know well? Joe, let me finish, Joe, because I proved to you you don't know ball like I do when it comes to basketball. You hear me? Now, I understand the Hawks are on the up and coming. I know you love your boy Jalen Johnson. I understand all that. I get that. But coming out the East is not it. Now, y 'all might get maybe the play-in, Joe. Maybe the play-in. Damn. You might be in Cancun. You might not get that. But when it comes to the East, we got to focus on, for one, the Knicks.
21:23Joe Johnson:We need to name them right away. We need to name them right away. and have some respect for after 53 years they finally won a championship so out east we're saying nicks first okay at the nicks we're going with the heat you hear me huh after the heat no we're going to be respectful and we're going to talk about we're going to talk about philly because they got lebron everywhere lebron has went you know what he does and what he brings
21:47Chad Johnson:hey but what about what about detroit who was the number one seed uh last year what about them you
21:52Joe Johnson:Hey, hey, we got a problem. We got a problem over in Detroit right now. You hear me? Huh? Because we got somebody that don't want to sign a contract, you know, who was a pivotal part of that offense, you know, in season, regular season. Yeah. And now that it's the postseason, you know, he kind of disappeared a little bit. And the team, the entity, the franchise doesn't think he deserves that full year 200, what, 50 he looking for? Or five year 250?
22:16Chad Johnson:You looking for five, 284. They offer five, 200.
22:20Joe Johnson:Wait, 280 what?
22:22Chad Johnson:$2.84.
22:25Joe Johnson:Now y 'all ain't telling me all that now.
22:27Chad Johnson:That's what he looking for. That's what he want. $5.84. That's his market. Ocho, the man was an all-NBA player. All-NBA selection. So he's a supermax guy. Yeah.
22:39Yeah.
22:40Joe Johnson:Hey, y 'all got me.
22:45Chad Johnson:So he wants 57 a year instead of 40 a year.
22:49Joe Johnson:How many points brother Durham put up?
22:52Chad Johnson:He averaged 19 and 10 in the regular season. He averaged 10 and 9, 12 and 9. Put it like this here. The big impersonator, DeAndre Ayton. Right. Had a better playoff average than him. And I know what you think of D.A., the big abomination. You got to chill. You got to chill. That man, we got to change. Joe, you know that man. The man got to have a chain delivered. The day they got knocked out of the postseason. Talk about domination. It was bad timing. That's all it was. Yeah. It was bad timing. It was bad timing. But guys like him, they're going to always be in the league. Okay, Ochoa, because hell, he's 7 '1".
23:38Chad Johnson:You can't teach that. Yeah, you can't. You cannot teach that. So, hey, you can say what you want to. But, hey, he probably going to be a pivotal piece to Washington and what they got going on, man. I like Washington. I think they're going to be all right in the East. Until you ask, until you ask DA. Answer what? We count on you, man. We need 15, we need 15 to 10 tonight. He'll give you two and six. You can't tell him that, though. Some guys you got to know, you can't tell him that. You give him expectations, hell, they ain't going to go out there and give you nothing. Yeah. I ain't never seen, you ain't never seen nobody have hands bad as his, though, Joe.
24:22Joe Johnson:Maybe it was the pressure playing in LA though. The lights are different. He was bad in Phoenix.
24:30Chad Johnson:He was bad in Portland. You know what it is? He ain't no power big, Ocho. He'll finesse big. He got a nice touch. He's going to try to shoot the little touch shots by the goal. He ain't going to be doing a whole lot of powering up, dunking on nobody or them forceful rebounds. Unc want somebody back in the 70s you know he he he he won't mikhail or some damn body he wasn't that man he ain't what he do the man seven one joe ain't no way i'm seven one i ain't gonna give you i ain't gonna give you a lead i'm gonna give you no less than 20 and 10. i don't give you less than 20 years seven one number one pick yeah damn hey like you say you
25:15Joe Johnson:can't coach that you hear me it ain't like we got a whole bunch of seven footers you know just walk around the earth. We got somebody here, but half of them ain't athletic. Half of them real slow. You know, can't move. They ain't got no coordination. You know?
25:29Chad Johnson:No type of skill. You just got to take your expectations down. You got, you aren't looking for 20 and 10. Hell, they ain't where to get you. He's getting you 8 and 4. You're going to have to live with that.
25:39Joe Johnson:And he can get you 20 and 10. Yeah, he'll have a night or two or three. He can have a night like that consistently. You know? All he got is go see, what's Kyrie Co's name? Mr. What?
25:51Chad Johnson:Oh, you talking about Phil Handy? Yeah, go see Phil. Phil can't do nothing for him. Phil can't do nothing for him.
26:01Joe Johnson:Hey, Joe, if you're serious about your craft, you want to improve, you want to evolve year to year and improve, huh?
26:06Chad Johnson:Yeah.
26:06Joe Johnson:Don't be comfortable just because you got paid. I want to be one of the greats. Hello. That's just me.
26:13Chad Johnson:Yeah. I don't know if many guys think like that, Ocho. They think about that bag. They ain't think about no greatness.
26:17Joe Johnson:Hey, I'm thinking about the bag too. I'm thinking about the bag, but I'm also wanting to be great while I got the bag.
26:22Chad Johnson:They care more about the bag. Hello. Cause it's so, it's the bag is so big now, fellas. It ain't, you know, that bag different now. Yeah, you gotta understand.
26:33Joe Johnson:You know, if I'm good, if I'm good, the bag gonna keep coming, huh? I don't just want to get one bag. Joe, I'm like you, Joe. I want to go get my main course. Hello. I want me a little size. Hello. Hello.
26:49Chad Johnson:There we go. There you go.
26:52Joe Johnson:That's just me thinking.
26:53Chad Johnson:Yeah. Everybody don't think like that though, Ocho.
26:55Joe Johnson:Yes sir. No, they don't.
26:56Chad Johnson:Everybody, you got some cats who just happy and content with the little crumbs that they do get, bro. They ain't tripping. They ain't tripping. Boy, please. I want a whole meal. Damn them crumbs.
27:11Yeah. Well.
27:14Chad Johnson:I ain't worried about nobody else. I need to, we're going to have to get a chance to go see old Goat James. See what he putting down in Philly.
27:20Joe Johnson:Hey, let's all plan to go sit courtside in Philly, man. What y 'all want to do? Yeah, we can do that.
27:26Chad Johnson:Okay, well, what game though? Man, I don't even know what, I don't know, Ocho. We have to plan it. We're going to have to be on a, probably be like a Friday.
27:36Joe Johnson:I'm an hour and 40 minute flight from Philly. Joe, you right around the corner. You the issue. You're way on the other side of the world. But I'm ready, you hear me? You let me know, I get the courtside tickets for us. You know, my dog - We might have to come down there and catch Philly in a -
27:51Chad Johnson:No, we need to go see the Philly. We need to see him in Philly. Why?
27:56Joe Johnson:Cause that's what you want to see him in Philly. Not really, we can see him down here in Miami. Cause hey, you know -
28:02Chad Johnson:So you see how quick that change? Now he want to be subclose, but he ain't got to do no traveling. No, I'm getting the tickets.
28:08Joe Johnson:What you talking about? Hey Joe, you know I get courtside free at the Heat games. I don't even abuse it. I don't abuse my power that I have access to the tickets. You know when the last time you see me at courtside with the Miami Heat game? That was my last time there when D-Wade was playing. D-Wade got me tickets. That was my last time if he was on the wood. So I don't abuse my power even though I have access. But for y 'all, for y 'all, because of my appreciation and a thank you to y 'all, I get the tickets, all three of us on the wall. Y 'all let me know, man.
28:42Chad Johnson:Y 'all let me know. I'm looking for a good time, especially basketball season too. And you know when Bron go to Miami, you know because see, that's like an ex he used to deal with. So you know he going there to show up and show out. He ain't going to play no game.
28:57Joe Johnson:I think not. He can show up and show out all he want. You know, sometimes you pull up at somebody's house to fight them. You pull up on me. You pull up and get your ass whooped. That's what happened to to come down to Miami.
29:08Chad Johnson:We got y 'all Ocho.
29:10Joe Johnson:Who is we? Hey uncle who is we? Philly. He went Philly now. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, you came, you were just a Laker fan last year. I was a LeBron fan. Oh, so your fandom is switched over to Philly.
29:23Chad Johnson:Yeah, I like Luka, but I don't like Luka like I like LeBron. I'm gonna go see LeBron play. Okay. I mean, LA is quicker for me. I mean, LA is a quicker trip for me. Right, right, right. That's 37 minutes, 40 minutes tops. okay i mean i go to philly man that's that's four hours but i got you know i'll be on the east coast and just a shoot up from atlanta drop down in philly mm-hmm okay mm-hmm okay so y 'all okay we'll hit the bear joe go hit the spot you know we got a little we be joe got a little spot we hit hey i was over there naked woods the other day too uh you know hey hey hey hey hey y 'all tell what happened they got the a they had a little r b spot the other night oh did they would jump when i got off i got offline and went straight to the r b spot that thing was jumping boy oh you
30:12Joe Johnson:hey joe you were serious you really got offline and went to the place yeah me and baby went down
30:16Chad Johnson:i'm talking i had a good time ocho i'm talking about cutting up in the way with like karaoke it's it can be karaoke like you got somebody in your little group or your little crew you know who think they got yeah yeah they give you the mic let you go off oh the vibe was crazy now
30:30Joe Johnson:Hey, what's the name, Joe?
30:32Chad Johnson:It was R &B Wednesdays. I know Brian Michael Cox, he got something to do with it. It's a couple more of the cast, bro. But it be lit every Wednesday, Ocho. It be lit.
30:44Joe Johnson:Hey, Joe, I'm finna come, boy. Hey, baby, baby, let me know what your schedule looks like Wednesday. You hear me? Yeah, y 'all gonna pull up. Meet me down in the A.
30:54Chad Johnson:Yeah, already. Whole vibe. Whole vibe, boy. Okay. We got to go back to our spot, Joe. Them group of bites. Them lamb chops.
31:05Joe Johnson:Hey, why y 'all keep leaving me out? What we talking about? What's going on? What they got? I'll be down there.
31:12Chad Johnson:Hey, I like group of bites. Probably about the end of the month. End of the next month.
31:16Joe Johnson:Damn, that's a long time away.
31:18Chad Johnson:Bruh, I got to work. He said the end of the month. They ain't been probably a couple weeks. No, he said the end of the next month.
31:24Joe Johnson:Not this one.
31:24Chad Johnson:I'll end the next month. Hey, look. Time go fast, man. When you have a good time. It's already the 28th. Okay. Okay. We good? Yeah. 34:45Chad Johnson:Luka Doncic with Blunt would ask about not playing with LeBron James this season. Check this out. Luka, how does this feel this day with LeBron James not being here and now the focus being on you being a leader, also Austin? It feels great. Obviously, it's a new challenge. You know, I was in this position in my career a lot of times, so it's not new to me. But I feel great. I feel excited. And like I said, I'm ready to go.
35:16Chad Johnson:okay yeah I mean he was the face of the franchise for the moment he stepped foot in Dallas and for the most part wherever he goes if he loses he gonna be the face of the franchise that's just the way it works the boy got that much game you right yeah wherever he go he gonna be 1A option 1A and look y 'all know playing in LA it comes with a lot of weight. You got to win the title.
35:45Joe Johnson:What about expectations, Joe?
35:47Chad Johnson:That's what I'm saying, Ocho. You got to win in L.A. This ain't like Dallas where you can sit back there, drink beers all damn day after the game, have a good time, kick your feet up. They ain't having that. In L.A., they want winners, bro. They want legends. You know what I mean? Like when you go to L.A., Ocho, that's supposed to take your career to a whole other level, bro.
36:07Joe Johnson:Hey, can I say something, Uncle Joe?
36:08Chad Johnson:Go ahead.
36:09Joe Johnson:Uncle Unk left. But Joe, let's be honest about it now. You know, no disrespect to the Lakers. I'm sure we have a lot of Laker fans in here, even with those expectations. And you look at the team that's constructed right now. It's not a team that's built to win the championship. It's definitely not. I understand how great Luke is. I understand that. I understand how good AR is and how he's improved tremendously from year to year offensively. But obviously, you know, they're kind of handicapped on the defensive end. They still don't have a big. They haven't answered that question having a fire that can play.
36:39Joe Johnson:They don't even have a stretch fire that can goddamn play. you know let alone a big man down there in in in uh in the post you know so they got so many pieces that are missing so those expectations have to be limited until you're able to get you need one more star joe they oh joe you need you need one more joe because the expectations aren't even realistic if you don't get that one more piece they spent money in the summer they went
37:03Chad Johnson:And then they signed a big boy from Utah. Damn, I can't remember his name.
37:11Joe Johnson:I know. You know what? See, I am.
37:13Chad Johnson:But anyway, he bought 7-1. Ocho, he a rim protector. He can shoot the ball. He can score. He can pass. He can play. It's just what it is. They just don't have enough melanated brothers, bro. So people don't think they're going to be competitive. You don't think they're going to be able to compete in the West?
37:28Joe Johnson:I mean, listen. This ain't the 70s no more, bro. You hear me? This ain't the city. You understand, you know, I mean, you can't – it's not a coffee unless you got to have some, you know.
37:44Chad Johnson:Hello.
37:45Joe Johnson:Huh?
37:45Chad Johnson:Hello.
37:46Joe Johnson:You got to have a little mixture of everything in order to – you know, I ain't going to go there.
37:49Chad Johnson:Hey, but listen, but hold up, Ojo. I like J.J. Redick, though. You know, I like J.J. Redick. I like his coaching style, and I think he can get the best out of them boys. Now, they are in the Eastern Conference. I don't know, man.
38:00Joe Johnson:The Western Conference.
38:02Chad Johnson:I mean, the Western Conference. I got to see, you know, the first at least 10 to 15 games to kind of assess what kind of team they're going to be and how they're going to play. Because it's a gauntlet, bro. It's a gauntlet in the West. Walker Kessler. That's the guy they got from Utah. Couldn't think of his name. Yeah, so they got a big. They got some bigs.
38:23Joe Johnson:Hey, you heard what you just said? They got some bigs, not a big. You get the difference? You see how that sounds? They got some bigs, not a big.
38:33Chad Johnson:Okay.
38:34Joe Johnson:You see what I'm saying, Joe? That's what I'm saying. As a Laker fan, you would want to limit your expectations based on your personnel and what you have. So what I said still stands true. They got some bigs, not a big.
38:48Chad Johnson:Right. I think the thing is, if you go back and study the Lakers, Wilt came, won a championship. Kareem came, won a championship. Jabbar came, won a championship. LeBron came, won a championship. Shaq won a championship. When you go and you were a superstar at your previous location, all the guys that I mentioned were superstars at their previous team. You got to win a title. Yeah. You got to win a title. Facts. Facts. That's what they expect. That's the expectation. That's the expectation. And they want you to win multiples. You know, Kareem won five of his six in L.A. Shaq won three of his four in L.A.
39:37Chad Johnson:Will only won two, but he won one of them in L.A. Yeah. So, this is – Luka's going to have to win a title in order for – I know the fans love him, but L.A. is based on titles. It's the big man capital, but every superstar that's joined the Lakers have won a title. I don't know if he's going to be able to deliver one. I ain't going to lie to you. I like Luka. I'm talking about the boy got plenty of game. You hear me? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. He's solid. But, man, when you talk about what they got in that Western Conference they had to fight with, I ain't talking about just this year. I'm talking about over the next seven to ten years, the next decade.
40:24Chad Johnson:Bruh, how you think he going to win it? he got to go through at least a couple of them damn teams to win one. It's going to be OKC, got to get through San Antonio, Minnesota, got to get through San Antonio.
40:38Joe Johnson:Chad, y 'all don't listen for shit.
40:41Chad Johnson:I know a lot of y 'all y 'all went to y 'all got off the school bus walk through the school and went to them trailers in the back. What happened?
40:49Joe Johnson:What they did?
40:49Chad Johnson:Because I was very specific in what I said. Right. Tell me the difference between Kareem, Shaq, Wilt, LeBron. Tell me, tell everybody the difference between those teams and Kobe Bryant.
41:08Chad Johnson:What was the difference between Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Shaq, and LeBron James? Tell me the difference. What do they have in common that Kobe didn't? Because y 'all don't listen for ish. Y 'all so anxious to try to stump somebody. Oh, you hate Kobe that much. Y 'all dumb. Everybody in the chat that keep mentioning Kobe is dumb.
41:37Chad Johnson:Did Wilt spend 20 years? Wilt came from another team. Kareem came from another team. Shaq came from another team. LeBron came from another team.
41:51Chad Johnson:Luka came from another team, dumb dumbs. it's really simple if you listen y 'all don't want to listen y 'all want to have this preconceived notion that if somebody doesn't mention colby they're hating yeah but if you listen to what i said it's very apparent but you didn't want to listen but anyway back to our normal schedule programming if you come join the lakers the expectation is everybody that's been that has won one. And we're talking about top 35, top 50, top 75 players. That's what Luka is. That's what LeBron was. That's what Jabbar was. That's what Shaq was. That's what Wilt was. That is the expectation of Luka is to win a championship in LA.
42:44Chad Johnson:Preferably multiples. Wilt only got one. LeBron only got one. Kobe, Shaq, got three of his four. Kareem got five of his six. That's what the Lakers are. They're not impressed with stats. They're really not. They want titles.
43:09Joe Johnson:They got a few missing pieces if they want a title. Hey, they got a few missing pieces.
43:17Chad Johnson:I don't know what they're missing, but I'm telling you what, 10 years down the line and Luka don't have no title, there's going to be some mad-ass fans.
43:25Joe Johnson:Hey. Yeah. Hey, they don't need to be mad now, but you might wear pre-heat your ovens. You might wear pre-heat your ovens.
43:35Chad Johnson:I don't know. They got some dogs over there, Ocho.
43:37Joe Johnson:Hey, hey, hey, Joe, you need more than dogs. You hear me?
43:40Chad Johnson:Well, you're going to need a couple of them.
43:42Joe Johnson:You need more than just dogs. There are a lot of breed of dogs. You hear me? They might have some Labradors, some Golden Retrievals. they probably got some of them. They ain't got no Belgian Moloize. They ain't got no Cane Corsos over there. They ain't got no pit bulls over there. They ain't got no great thing. Come on now. There's a lot of different breeds of dogs. Now what type of dogs we talking about?
44:04Chad Johnson:Hold on, hold on. Look, Collin Saxon, a pit bull. They got Collin Saxon over there. Man, ain't nobody looking for checking for Collin Saxon. Come on, Joe. I'm saying, you talking about a spark off the bench. When we talk about the same thing that Marcus Smart bro last year he gonna be to be comfortable to that are you gonna play defense like that yeah that boy dog whatever gonna pick up that boy gonna pick up 94 feet he ain't gonna be playing I think the Lakers father should have kept Marcus smart though they didn't want to pay him man you know man I mean he make it a whole lot of money when he got a two-year deal 13 two-year 13 million from Houston but they're hungry you got me huh go ahead they had They had to pay AR.
44:46Chad Johnson:They paid AR 200-something. But AR took about 20 to 30 million less than what he could have got. Hell, they got Walter Kessler, the big boy from Utah. They paid him. Would you want him to go out there and get Marcus Smart, too? But I think the thing is, Joe, you don't have anybody that really can defend. Right. I mean, you put Thompson and Smart together. Because, look, you ain't really got a whole lot of defenders. that is like KD is defending he'll protect the rim a little bit from the weak side right shingoon ain't protecting nothing if they have fleet it blesses hard he coming off a knee injury and he ain't no defender but you got two defenders in there yeah you got two defenders in there and that's the thing okay see you look at okay see no matter who's in there they got multiple vendors on the court at all time the Spurs got multiple defenders on the court at all times.
45:43Chad Johnson:Who going to defend for the Lakers? I don't know. They can't compete with them teams, though. Them upper echelon teams, them the top team. You just named the top two teams in the Western Conference. They don't have guys like that, bro. Now, what they do have is a guy like Luka, whose offense is going to be his defense. I got to go out here and get 40, 45 them every night. Every night. Yeah. And that's a whole lot of pressure. But if you don't run away from them, guess what happens when the game is close? They put Austin Reeves and Luka Doncic in the pick and roll. Go back and look at it. Look at what OKC did.
46:19Chad Johnson:As bad as LeBron might play defense, ain't nobody called LeBron out to put his ass in the pick and roll. They put AR in the pick and roll. If you go back into regular season when Luka was there, they put Luka in the pick and roll. Yeah. You know why? You know why they do that, Uncle Ocho? because offensively, we know you're going to try to make up for your lack of defense. So guess what? On the defensive end, we're not going to let your ass rest. We ain't going to let you rest. We're going to put you in every pick and roll. You ain't got to switch, but you're going to have a hard time having to hedge and show every damn time.
46:53Chad Johnson:Because guess what? It's hide and seek. And we're going to find your ass every trip down court. That's what they're doing. Yeah, you can't hide in the corner because you don't look like to go off and sit up in the corner. Oh, no. Hey, come here.
47:07Chad Johnson:Yeah, come here. Come here. Hey, hey, hey. No, no, not you. Him. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey, and reset it again, Helen. We'll get it right the first couple times. Keep resetting it. Hell, we're going to keep in this rotation. That's how you do it. Yeah. That's what you got to do. That's how you got to do. When guys are - I think Luke understands. Luke, look, he's been the leader ever since he's been in the league. He's been the face of a franchise. The last couple of years has been different to him because he's never been on the seat with someone that was more popular than him, a bigger name than him.
47:42Chad Johnson:Right. Hello. So that was new to him. But now it reverts back to what he's comfortable with and what he's been used to since he was in Dallas. That goes all back now. It's his team. It is. Yes, AR is great, and they pay AR, and he's been unbelievable. but he's one of my favorites. But this is Lucas team and they're only going to go as far as Luca carry him. You're absolutely right. And guess what? Both of those guys, Luca and Aar, they usage rate, Ocho, going to be through the damn roof. Oh, yeah. My thing is, can they stay healthy throughout the regular season? You get hurt in the Western Conference, whatever the drug day, hey, you mess around, be out the damn play and you playing around.
48:26Chad Johnson:So, yeah, you got to stay healthy.
48:28Joe Johnson:Hey, even if they are healthy, Uncle Joe, you know, the West is too strong. You know, it's too top heavy, you know, for them to even have a chance. Being that their team is not constructed, even though they have the expectations of playing in L.A., team is not constructed to compete, you know, coming out of their West, man. Not with Denver, not with the Spurs, not with, okay, man, it's not even fair, honestly, you think about it, to put all that pressure on goddamn Luka. Huh? You ain't got nobody to even relieve the pressure. It's like he a pimple and who gonna bust it to let him up out of there, you know?
49:04Joe Johnson:That's a horrible analogy, but you get what I'm trying to say.
49:07Chad Johnson:Yeah, I think the thing is, Joe, is because you said something very interesting. Because Luka usage rate is gonna be so high, look, he comes into the season in great shape. Yeah. But as the season goes, now all of a sudden it's easy to come into the season healthy because you're not playing any games. All you're doing is focusing on your eating. Now, all of a sudden, when you get done with a game and it's 11 o 'clock and you just grab some chicken or you grab some cold cuts of pizza and you go eat that and go lay your ass down, that's when the hard part, are you still going to lift? Are you still going to get your cardio in?
49:45Chad Johnson:And then playing the kind of minutes that he probably going to need to play, he's probably going to be 38, 39 minutes. Easy. Easy. What you mean? Man, listen, you're going to have to play Luka as much as you can. Obviously, you don't want to wear him down throughout the regular season. You want him healthy in the postseason because he hadn't been healthy in the postseason last season. But it's going to be tough, bro. They're going to have some challenges. You know what I mean? They're going to need some guys who are going to really have to play above their head. Luka is going to have to leave the league in scoring again for them to just be in the damn hunt.
50:17Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah. So they'll probably look. Luka likes to play the entire first quarter, So they'll probably take... Yo, swing it, Joe. Swing it, Joe. Swing it. Joe, swing the pass. There you go, bro. There you go.
50:35Chad Johnson:Luka like to play the whole 12... The first quarter. Luka like to play the whole first quarter. So they'll probably take AR at eight minutes. Yeah. Leave him out for the rest of the quarter. First quarter, yeah. And then bring him back to start the second while Luka's on the bench. and kind of feature him in that second unit. That way he can kind of do most of the ball handling and kind of get his off while Luke on the bench. Yeah, you're right, huh? Anthony Edwards seemed to be confused about who the superstar was in Minnesota. Let's take a listen to what Ant-Man had to say. The narrative of the offseason was that the Wolves have a short window to make their superstar happy.
51:13Seeing what happened this offseason, are you satisfied with what they gave you, and if so, why?
51:17Chad Johnson:Who the superstar, me? Of course. I didn't know nothing about that. But, yeah, I'm happy. Hey, look. Look, I can take the modest ant. But I like the raw and flamboyant ant, Ocho. You know what I mean? He should have took that one and ran with it. But I get what he's saying. I get what he's saying. He took the humble route. But, yeah, that man know he a superstar. Man, stop playing. Yeah. Oh, yeah. For sure. And look, Ant-Man said, look, I miss them games, and y 'all kept me off the all-NBA team. I'm going to make this all-NBA team, and then I'm going to get that$350 million. Ooh! Man, damn, the all-NBA team.
52:04Chad Johnson:Go on and get the MVP, man. Go on and go for the MVP. Even better. Damn. But he said that's what I'm hurting for. Yeah. Because you know what? It hurt guys who really, really got injured, Ocho. You know what I mean? versus some cats who they tried to take away the load management, taking games off. But it was a few guys throughout this past season who I thought should have been in contention for some awards. But, you know, it is what it is. Anthony Edwards can sign a projected$300-plus million Supermax contract in a future offseason. He missed the threshold because he missed. He didn't play enough games.
52:43Chad Johnson:But if he makes it, historic projection, if he qualifies to sign a Supermax extension in 27, the deal is projected to be worth roughly$345 million over four years, paying him roughly$82 million a year. Get your money, man. A million dollars a game.
53:04Joe Johnson:Hey, so they're going to give. That's Luka, huh?
53:08Chad Johnson:No, that's Ant-Man. Oh, Ant? Oh, yeah.
53:12Joe Johnson:Hey, hey, hey, hey. Hey, he going to get that. You hear me?
53:15Chad Johnson:Oh, yeah. All he got to do is make, if he make the All-NBA, one of them award, MVP, All-NBA, he going to.
53:25Joe Johnson:Hey, that's solidified. That's my dog now. He going to make that. You know, he going to get that. That's what he do. That's what he do. 82 million. Oh.
53:35Chad Johnson:Hey, when is that? After this season? 27. 27. So if you make it this year and sign the extension after next year, see, that's what you call a day, Jokic. Yeah. That's that guapo, Ocho.
53:48Joe Johnson:Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey, we going to be rich.
53:51Chad Johnson:You hear me? Hey, they guapin' these boys down, boy. Yeah, hey, listen. Jokic plans to sign his five-year$360 million after the summer of 27.
54:03Joe Johnson:Woo. Damn. Hey, hey, hey, Ant. Boy, hey, hit your boy. Hit the line, boy. Huh? What you need? What you need? You know, you know that thing. You know, I know it's new and we're in players. This new deal will push, when he signs the 360,
54:19Chad Johnson:it'll push his career earners to 700 million. What you think, what you call a new super max gonna be if he makes one of those teams? JT, he already on the 320.
54:30Joe Johnson:You talking about Jason Tatum?
54:32Chad Johnson:Yeah. What are you looking like, Joe?
54:35Joe Johnson:What are you looking like, Joe?
54:36Chad Johnson:It's gonna be up there. first and foremost, you know, the Celtic nation, they love him, bro. He's beloved. Yes. You know, he's won a title. He's been to the finals multiple times. So he's going to probably get whatever he asks for, especially if he gets back to the Tatum, the way he was, you know, first, second team, all NBA, all-star, you know, on top of the league and scoring. How are you not going to pay him, huh? Yeah. he'll make 58 million this year. Yeah, hey. Hey, it's a lot different, boy.
55:14Joe Johnson:58?
55:14Chad Johnson:The money there. Damn. But the question is, is Melo and Ant-Man enough to really do some damage along with Rudy Gobert? Is that... Well, I forgot about Jay McDaniel. Is that enough, Joe? I don't know. I know they're going to be fun to watch, Chad. Ocho, they're going to be fun to watch. But I don't know if they got the discipline to be able to hang with some of the upper echelon teams like the San Antonio, the OKC's, the New York Knicks. It's a difference going out night in and night out. Excuse me, Chad. It's a difference going out night in and night out and competing at a high level winning games in the regular season, but when you play against the top teams, bro, you got to be so disciplined and limit your mistakes.
56:06Chad Johnson:Yep. And I don't know if Minnesota's ready for that jump yet. Now, they have the talent. They have the talent because I like Kamingo being over there too. Okay, Ocho. Okay. They got a bunch of tweeners and wing guys who can guard multiple positions. They got guys who can go at you offensively. So they got everything. They got Rudy Gobert here. I don't know if he can play his greatest defense like he played on Jokic this past postseason, but they got a big presence and they got a bunch of guys surrounding them. So the sky's the limit for them, man. If they can stay disciplined, I think they got a good chance.
56:40Chad Johnson:I think the thing is I would like Minnesota better if they'd have been able to keep Nas Reed. If they'd have been able to keep him and bring him off the bench, Joe, now you got a guy, okay, you double Ant-Man, he going to kick it, Nas knock it down. Yeah. LaMelo can knock down the three. Both of those guys can make the three off the dribble. Nas is more of a catch-and-shoot guy, which has been perfect when they try to load up to stop Ant-Man or Melo. Yeah. But you had to, A, to get LaMelo. That's what Charlotte wanted. Another three-point shooter to go with Brandon Miller, Knipple. They got a nice little squad over there in Charlotte.
57:21Chad Johnson:They're going to be fun to watch. I don't know how many games they're going to win, but they'll be fun to watch. Right. He'll be fun to watch. Yeah, Charlotte gonna be fun to watch, and I think Minnesota is looking for the McDaniels kid, Jay McDaniels, to take another leap. Okay, Ojo. I think they gonna play him at the fourth spot, which is why they got rid of both of they fours, and Nas Reed, and what's the point man went to the... Julius Randle. Oh, you talking about the lefty? Yeah, Julius Randle and Nas Reed. Yeah, get rid of both of them. I think they're going to put McDaniels at the four.
57:57Chad Johnson:And they're going to play small ball with Rudy in the middle, spread you out, and just attack, bro. They're going to be solid. They're going to be solid. See, that's what I would really like. So now I take Rudy out and I play Nas Reed at the five. Now I can really play small. Now I got knockdown shooters everywhere. Yeah. Hey, they like me. Like me. It's the difference between trying to talk to your friends over the music to get a bar and having dinner where you can actually hear each other between getting food delivered and cooking something, you know, she's going to love.
