3:19Shannon Sharpe:J.J. McCarthy spoke for the first time since the Vikings announced Kyler Murray as the starter. Let's take a listen to what J.J. had to say, guys. Look, you know, a decision was made that was out of my control, and obviously every competitor wants to play. But moving forward, it's just about continuing to work hard and just staying ready for when my number's called. What were your initial thoughts when you found out the decision had been made? Obviously disappointed. You know, I'm a competitor. But at the end of the day, you know, it's in the past, and I'm moving on to the next practice, the next rep, the same mindset I had going into it, and focusing on the Giants this week.

3:52Joe Johnson:JJ, why do you say it was not your control? There's so many things out of our control, like the heat today, and, you know, it's just really having the discernment to figure out which of the two. And, you know, that was one of the things outside of my control, and me attacking and optimizing every opportunity, which was in my control, and that's all I was focused on. That's a lot. Can I say something? Yeah, go ahead. Hey, Chad, Joe, and Unc, the one thing that's in control is you being on that football field. Yeah, he was in control. Hey, you're in control of that. You're in control of not being a starter.

4:30Joe Johnson:You're in control. You always have been. It's based on your production and what you do on the field. You're not starting because of what you didn't do.

4:38Shannon Sharpe:Because what he could control, he didn't control. It ain't that complicated, Joe. Ojo, Chad, it's not that complicated. He said it was out of his control. The mere fact Kyler Murray was there was because of your control, because you was some stir fry. Yeah. Now, the question is, you also got a veteran quarterback on the roster in Carson Wentz. Yes.

5:06Shannon Sharpe:Now, do they feel comfortable enough to say, okay, Kyler's our starter and McCarthy's our backup? up or do we feel comfortable with Carson Wentz who's been in this league who's been a starter yes and then see what what kind of value can I get for JJ McCarthy what you thinking Ocho what you thinking Joe you might be right on that one man you might be right

5:30Chad Johnson:on that but I I listen to JJ speak the one thing he said was the only thing I can do is uh be ready until my number is called my number is called that's all you can do as a professional bro now He had his opportunity last year. You know what I mean? But right now, you got to keep improving, bro. And if your number do get called, you got to try to seize that moment.

5:51Shannon Sharpe:With the number that's going to be calling, it might be the general manager calling his phone and saying, we traded you.

5:57Chad Johnson:He probably wouldn't even mind that if you just want me to keep 100.

6:01Joe Johnson:Hey, Joe, he might want to mind it because all of them got. Everybody got their starter. It ain't like he going somewhere to be a starter. Hey, that ain't happening.

6:10Shannon Sharpe:man that's why you get when you get one of the jobs you got to keep it yeah yeah and that that

6:17Joe Johnson:was in your control keeping that job was in your control but i just had you had ample time

6:25Shannon Sharpe:but i don't know but i'm just i'm just looking at him in college and i'm like bro They ran the ball, Ocho. A lot. Yes. A lot. And the problem is that you've had two quarterbacks in that building. You had Daniel Jones and you had Sam Darnold. And you let them walk out the building for him.

6:55Joe Johnson:But they picked him so high, they ain't had no choice. They ain't had no choice.

7:02Shannon Sharpe:You ordered it. You didn't have to order that.

7:08Shannon Sharpe:You ordered it. Oh, J.J. McCarthy's moving up the boards. How? He ain't played since the championship game. I never understood how guys move up the draft board, Ocho, when they're not playing football.

7:22Joe Johnson:It all depends on who.

7:24Shannon Sharpe:People start talking. The agents put the word out. They put the word out to us. You know, certain people, people start talking, oh, he's moving up the draft boards. How? Who draft boards? He ain't play. The man ain't played in four months, and now he moving up a draft board. All depending on who it is.

7:48Shannon Sharpe:Kevin O 'Connell said Tuesday that McCarthy is now quarterback number two. I would hope he's number two.

7:59Shannon Sharpe:I would hope.

8:01Joe Johnson:Yeah, if he go to three.

8:02Shannon Sharpe:It's a bad look. And we saw this with the Giants.

8:07Joe Johnson:Yeah.

8:08Shannon Sharpe:When Russell lost his starting job, Russell went from one to three.

8:12Joe Johnson:Three, yeah. Instead of two, yeah. The writing was on the wall at that point.

8:18Shannon Sharpe:Absolutely. Absolutely. Writing might be on the wall for McCarthy.

8:25Chad Johnson:You think so? Might be. It's still early.

8:28Shannon Sharpe:It might be, but it might be written in hieroglyphics. Might need to have somebody come in to decipher what's going on. That might not be in his control. Yeah, it was. Play better. I tell you, you know why? Because you play better. You can control whether you play better or not. You got to stay your butt on the feet. First of all, you got to stay healthy. Yeah, that's one. But when he wasn't, when he was healthy, it wasn't like he was lighting it up. man get out there with bad body language like man what y 'all got me out here got people thinking i

9:00Joe Johnson:i'm i'm a bum hey you got too much talent over there offensively yes much talent over there offensively i'm not saying you got to be sam donald but like come on now

9:14Shannon Sharpe:he got to be better than sam donald because you let sam donald walk out the door for 30 million So he got to be at least that.

9:24Joe Johnson:They got some ballers over there offensively.

9:27Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, they got weapons. Him, Addison, Hawkinson, yeah, they got weapons. Jones in the backfield. Yes, sir. They got a really good defense. Very good defense.

9:42Chad Johnson:So if you got a steady quarterback here, you should be in the driver's seat. Joe, that's all you need.

9:48Shannon Sharpe:That's a tough-ass division, though. Good Lord have mercy. And look at the quarterbacks. Even now, they still got the worst quarterback. Even with Kyler starting, you're not taking him over Jordan Love, Jerry Goff, or Caleb Williams. No. They got weapons. I mean, that whole division is loaded. Quarterbacks, skilled position players. Minnesota got the worst quarterback.

10:13Joe Johnson:Yeah, and even at the worst quarterback, he still gives you your best chance to win. Absolutely. It gives you your best chance to win.

10:23Shannon Sharpe:It's like the old pickup we had, Ocho. That was the best car we had, but it still might put us down inside the road. Oh, Lord. I'm just being honest with you, Joe. That's the best we had. Hey, you had to talk to that joint before you started up. Man, you prayed, Lord. Hey, you go to bed, Father. God, please let this car crank the bar so we can go to the fair, to church. Well, if you don't crank to go to church tomorrow, I know my grandma gonna call and give us a ride anyway, so don't even worry about that. But please let this car crank tomorrow so we can go to fair on Saturday. Please, father.

10:57Shannon Sharpe:And I'll be good, I promise. And I'll go to church. Man, I feel... Man, you never know what that... Man, you never know what's gonna happen with that truck, man.

11:08Chad Johnson:Hey, I know that feeling. My mama used to call her car Betsy. We gotta hope Betsy don't I'm gonna act up today, come on baby, come on. Hey Joe, you go out there, hit that. Hit that, hit that. Hit that.

11:21Shannon Sharpe:Hit that.

11:27Shannon Sharpe:Stop pumping the gas before you flood it out. Flood it out. You wasn't gonna crank anyway.

11:39Shannon Sharpe:Man, Joe doing with the days, man. Joe doing with the days, man.

11:41Chad Johnson:I don't understand, Uncle. I'm talking about my boy.

11:44Shannon Sharpe:Just to go to town, man, you be praying. Lord, all you want to do is go to the store. Man, you know what? Forget that, man. I walk. Yeah, man, please. Dollar in my pocket. You give me a dollar, two dollars. I walk two miles. Oh, you good. Back then, two dollars? What? Joe. Man, my uncle come, Uncle Calvin come and give us a dollar. He give us 50 cents. Give us a dollar. A dollar, I'm gone.

12:16Chad Johnson:Yeah.

12:17Shannon Sharpe:Are you out of there? What? I'm talking about five, six years old. Ain't nobody letting no five, six-year-old now walk two miles to the store. We walk into the store. Yeah. You get penny cookies, penny candy. Sodas was a quarter. Chips was like a quarter. Yes, but see, not the chips then, half the bag chips. Them chips was filled way all up three quarters full. Now you get half of the bag of this air.

12:47Shannon Sharpe:They give you five big chips and some crumbs, and they charge you$1.39 for a bag of chips. Man, get out of here. Thanks. Hey. Damn. Good old days. JJ, you got to do better than this, bro. And the thing is, Ocho, if you think about all these quarterbacks, what was that stat?

13:13Shannon Sharpe:Justin Fields, all these quarterbacks that's done lost their jobs. McCarthy, Justin Fields, and Zach. What's the guy with that man? Your guy with that, Ocho? Zach Wilson. Zach Wilson. Yeah. All them guys, man. Because people are talking about they're not developing quarterback. They ain't taking time.

13:37Joe Johnson:They got time. Yeah, yeah. They don't have no time. These owners want instant gratification, especially with those picks that are high, Joe. They want you to come in right now with the amount of money that they paying you. Well, we need you to play right now.

13:52Chad Johnson:Yeah, because we ain't got time to babysit you.

13:54Joe Johnson:Oh, no. Oh, no.

13:56Shannon Sharpe:And that's what they should see. Because everybody coming in, Ocho, and the veteran quarterback that's there or veteran quarterback that you can bring in, they're getting them out of the way and getting the guy to play where you're starting to develop because he got bad habits and the thing is he can't break those bad habits because he wants to play and he wants to win but he's developing bad habits that's going to be counterproductive to you winning long term. You might win a few games temporarily but in the long term it's going to be detrimental to his growth and to his development yeah but hey jj you got to get better bro you bought a sofa you didn't have to assemble a suit someone measured just for you and now you're taking a guy's trip that actually matters you've upgraded a few things in life so why are you still running with rough nicotine pouches on plus nicotine pouches with nico silk mesh no corners no rough edges, just the softest pouch on the planet.

18:04Shannon Sharpe:Tarion Arnold has agreed to terms with the Seattle Seahawks. Tarion was featured on the second episode of Hard Knocks, the Seahawks indicated They believe Arnold will be allowed to practice and play in the preseason. The NFL must decide whether to put Arnold on the commissioner's exempt list after he was arrested on felony charges in connection with a robber and kidnapping in February. Ocho, is this a smart move by the Seahawks? Are they getting – what type of player are they getting with Terry and Arnold?

18:34Joe Johnson:I mean, obviously Terry and Arnold, you know, he's had his ups and downs at the defensive back position. he's really I don't want to say really really good but he's good you know in man to man obviously they can use him obviously in camp extra body fresh legs right now he's a young player giving him an extra chance to to make better decisions obviously he made a mistake I'm sure he probably won't make this mistake again obviously you got to watch the company you keep the people you have around you and obviously he loves the game of football he loves the game of football. I remember doing a show with him and Pat Sertain.

19:13Joe Johnson:They had a show. I was able to sit down with them for a good hour and 30 minutes to talk about football and the game in general. I know how much he loves the game. I'm glad he's gotten a second chance. Everybody deserves a second chance. Everybody deserves. Now you can get a better look on what you're doing, who you got around you and make better decisions because just like that your career, everything you worked on could have been gone. Yep. Could have been gone just like that. It's a good thing. Someone gave him a chance. He's a good player. You can't mess up no more because you ain't getting no more chances.

19:59Shannon Sharpe:No. And that just goes to show you that when you're talented people give you an opportunity. and people say it's just like that no it's not no it's not it's like that in life it's just like that at a regular job a guy might get arrested with a DUI or get in trouble with something if he's really good at that job he's gonna get another one he might not keep that job but he'll go get another one

20:22Chad Johnson:absolutely

20:23Shannon Sharpe:that's just the way it works I mean you know people try to make it seem like it's just sports related it's life related the better you are at something the more chances you're going to get to do said something

20:42Shannon Sharpe:that's a good one it's true Ocho we've seen it we've seen it because that's what we did as a profession but I know there are people in the chat that work a normal job that you know that go to the office or do what they do and they've seen people that are very good at what they do get in trouble keep said job get in trouble and get another chance at said job get in trouble lose job and go get another job because they're really good at it the better you are at something the more chance you'll get to said something and like you said hopefully everything works out right now all these are allegations he was arrested on felony robbery and kidnapping charges.

21:31Shannon Sharpe:Right now, these are just allegations. Hopefully, everything works out, but he'll make better decisions moving forward. That's what we do. We learn from the mistakes, and sometimes you bump your own head. And without consequences, there can be no lessons learned. Without consequences, there can be no lessons learned.

21:55Chad Johnson:I bet you won't nobody else be playing on T.A. Top. yeah yeah yeah

22:05man they got

22:06Shannon Sharpe:that's an Airbnb man it's supposed to have have cameras supposed to have insurance I mean and I get it I get it you know sometimes you know people try to take advantage of you you hate being taken advantage of because you've been so good to so many people yes sir and then somebody feels they can take advantage of you because of the position you in and feel they can get away with it I get it. I get it. I get it. I get it. I really do. But, you know, we just have to be smarter. We have to be smarter, Joe, and make better decisions. What do you want to say, Joe?

22:36Chad Johnson:I say you got to let them know sometime, because sometime, man, just, you know, brushing under the rug, bro. Go to the police, Joe. Would you go to the police?

22:47Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, go to the po-po.

22:49Chad Johnson:It depends, man. It depends. You know, it depends. You know. It's like if you got good.

22:54Shannon Sharpe:I don't know what type of time you want, Joe. So I better cut our friendship a little, you know, sell our friendship after like 24 months.

23:02Chad Johnson:Nah, nah. What I'm saying is it's a little difficult when you know, when you think you know the person who done betrayed you or done something wrong. Yeah. It hit a little different. It's hard to just go to authorities and be like, hey, man, you know what I mean? When you feel like you can go out there and handle it yourself. I kind of, I can see it both ways, bro.

23:23Shannon Sharpe:But, Joe, we've all, look, I don't know if y 'all had this happen, but I had it happen several times. Will my homeboy go back and tell the girl that I was dating, go back and tell her something?

23:34Chad Johnson:What? Yeah! Hey, what kind of homeboys you got? Goddamn, huh?

23:41Shannon Sharpe:Man.

23:42Chad Johnson:That man trying to take your spot? He trying to feel your shit? Yeah! Damn. Shaking my head. I wasn't 16. They couldn't feel mine. I wasn't 16. Hey,

23:54Shannon Sharpe:I was wondering why I was being like a snail. I was burning. Dude, just salt me up. Just dumping salt. Ooh, ah, dang. You remember the Wizard of Oz, how she started burning? That's how I was, Joe. Yeah. Man. But don't you know if she couldn't come back and tell? Yeah. Then what? Now what do you do now? She come back and told me what you told her. I know you told him because you're the only one that knew.

24:23Chad Johnson:Besides me. You just got to lay low and play slow. You know who he is. You know what he is. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You just chill out. You already know the man ain't about nothing. You hear me? And then he see me going to try to dab me up. Oh, you told him you let him know?

24:42Shannon Sharpe:I never spoke to him again. He kind of figured it out. Oh, damn. Yeah.

24:46Joe Johnson:That's the best way to go about it, bro. Yeah. I like that line, bro. They mind wanting to, Unk. I like that line, Joe. Lay low and play slow. Yeah.

24:56Shannon Sharpe:Come on, man. But I'm saying, you want to, I mean, look, you want to be with my girl that bad? You want her that bad? That you gonna go tell?

25:05Chad Johnson:Hold on, Unk, I told you now. I done played on, I ain't gonna say no name, but I done played on a team where a dude went in my phone and got a girl nothing about. Damn, Joe. Yeah, he - That happened to, I ain't gonna say no. That happened to me. Oh Joe he hit up right this dislike one did like my little man John yeah I mean

25:25Joe Johnson:oh yeah the man oh this this this way back this way this way back we're way back okay this over day okay okay okay no pressure so I guess when he when he

25:37Chad Johnson:called and he tried to put a little whoop down on yes no she wasn't going she called me right away hysterical I'm talking about custom me out there thank What type of thing you think I - Thought you put him up to it. That's what I'm saying. I'm like, what are you talking about? Same thing happened. Yeah. The exact same thing. Yeah. Yeah. She was going left on me. I'm like, man, I don't even know what you talking about, bro. Joe, man.

25:58Shannon Sharpe:Joe, I don't know, man. Joe, we might be related somehow. I'm keeping - The same thing happened.

26:04Chad Johnson:I swear.

26:06Shannon Sharpe:I swear. I can't believe you would do me like that. I can't believe - I'm like, whoa, whoa, slow down. Hold up. When are your phone? Yeah. Because you know back then, Ocho, you didn't have no locked phone. You just hit the phone. The phone opened up.

26:17Chad Johnson:Yeah. And basketball, we in practice. So if you go take a bathroom break, you can go in and get somebody's phone. Yeah. Yeah.

26:24Joe Johnson:Oh, man. He's violating, boy.

26:28Shannon Sharpe:Oh, man. The bad dog was dirty. I don't know how they are now because I've been away from it, and I ain't got no partners like that.

26:36Chad Johnson:Yeah. I guarantee you today, I guarantee the game way dirtier now. than it was back then. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Because everything is way too accessible nowadays than it was back then. All you gotta do is slide in a DM, hell, if she respond, hell, you got her.

26:55Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, you're right. Even if she say, no, I ain't interested. Yes, you are. Hello, there you go. If she respond, anything, oh, you got her.

27:06Chad Johnson:You got her.

27:07Shannon Sharpe:Anything other than telling me? Huh? Bang. I was like, man, you're the exact same thing. The girl called me going crazy. I can't believe you think I'm that tired. I said, whoa, whoa, wait a minute.

27:26Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah, I've been there. What type of guy you, I said, oh.

27:30Shannon Sharpe:Cause now, so now, Ocho, now I'm getting mad. Yeah, yeah. Now I'm getting upset. Let me take that back. Animals get mad, humans get upset. Now I'm getting upset. I'm getting highly agitated. Yeah. Because you keep screaming and yelling, talking about what type of person you do I think you are. Why would you do something like that? Why would you do that to me? I said, she had to breathe, she had to breathe.

27:59Shannon Sharpe:I said, okay, let's try this again. I don't know what you're talking about. Right. Why did you give him my number? Give who your number? Right.

28:11Chad Johnson:Thanks. Thanks.

28:15Shannon Sharpe:Hello. I got a money tree in the backyard. You think I'm going to tell somebody I got a money tree in the backyard? I'm on that. I get to go plug 50s or 100s out there anytime I want to. Why would I tell that? Dude, ask me right now. Man, she's terrible. You better not tell nobody she's like, boy, she's terrible. Oh, my God.

28:38Chad Johnson:Because he's going to see for himself, don't he, man?

28:41Shannon Sharpe:Oh man. Oh man. Boy I'm talking about gutted fish. They move the lick. Boy they took a dirty, hey man look here man. That's what really turned me up like, stayed like to myself Ocho. Joe, that's what really did it. To see how guys operate.

29:02Chad Johnson:And some of them, they got somebody. More times than not, more times than not, yeah. You got somebody. Now, see, if I want to do you like that,

29:12Shannon Sharpe:you're going to be ready to fight. But you feel, nah, bro.

29:22Chad Johnson:Yeah, that dirty man can owe it to you.

29:26Shannon Sharpe:Listen, I ain't telling nothing. I ain't telling nothing. I ain't going to ask Shannon because I already know he's going to lie. You got dang on right. Don't ask me. because I know him. I know you through him. I don't know you. You ain't no relation to me, no nothing.

29:46Joe Johnson:Yeah.

29:48Shannon Sharpe:Y 'all break up? I'll never talk to you again. Right. Ever. That's how it is. I don't be carrying on like that.

29:58Chad Johnson:Yeah.

29:58Shannon Sharpe:Nah. After 18 seasons, Hall of Famer, Russell Westbrook, five years from the day he announced it, He's going into the Hall of Fame. Russell Westbrook announced his retirement from the NBA. Westbrook, the all-time leader in triple doubles with 209, became the first player since Oscar Robinson in 1962. Excuse me. Remember that magical season, Joe? 62 average of triple double and won the MVP.

30:28Chad Johnson:Special, bro.

30:30Shannon Sharpe:Only two players have what? At least 26 ,000, 27 ,000 points, 10 ,000 assists, and 8 ,000 rebounds. I think it's he and LeBron are the only ones that have that. Westbrook, 10 ,351 assists and 14th in scoring with over 27 ,000 points. Joe, how should Russ be remembered and how will he be remembered?

30:59Chad Johnson:I think Russ should be remembered as obviously one of the greatest point guards to ever play the game. Okay, I'll show you. I mean, the ultimate competitor, a guy every time he touched the floor every night, bro, he gave you everything he had in the tank.

31:15Shannon Sharpe:He emptied the tank.

31:16Chad Johnson:As a coach, as a franchise, that's all you ask, dog. You ask for guys to come out and compete at the highest level and lay it all out there on the line. I think every year, even the years where he won the MVP, where he averaged a triple-double, and everybody was talking about, oh, man, he's stat chasing. Man, you know how hard it is to average a damn triple-double at 6 '3"? 6 '4"? Man, please.

31:42Shannon Sharpe:I think he's special. To get those rebounds. He's the best rebounding guard. You make a case he's the best rebounding guard ever.

31:51Chad Johnson:Oh, no question. No question. I think, you know, his athletic ability, you know, obviously his motor that he had. Oh, my goodness. I mean. Relentless. Because, bro, you watch him and you like, he ain't going to get another triple-double tonight. This man have 29, 16, and 15. How in the hell did man have these damn – come on, man.

32:10Shannon Sharpe:Crazy work. You've got 20, 20, 20 triple-doubles. 51, 16, and 10. 48, 13, and 12.

32:19Chad Johnson:And you know the crazy part about it, man? The man can still go play right now still to this day. Yeah. You know what I mean? I was hoping – I ain't going to lie. I was hoping to see him play at least another year because I felt like there were some teams out here who he could help, but obviously it didn't happen. But a hell of a career, dog. Hell of a human being. I don't know if y 'all ever met him, dog, but he's a super, super cool dude.

32:43Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. You know what it is? Russell, you know what? Man, I ain't begging y 'all to play. Help y 'all. Y 'all know what I can do. You're never going to have to worry about me getting in trouble. I love my wife. I love my kids. I go home. I work hard. I come in. I don't bother nobody. And I feel like if I play another year, I'm begging y 'all. Screw y 'all. Buff y 'all. Hope you're tripping and falling on your glass face too.

33:14Chad Johnson:And he come in peak shape every year, bro.

33:17Shannon Sharpe:Yes! Yes! Damn.

33:22Joe Johnson:Yeah, Russ one of the ones on.

33:25Shannon Sharpe:And they said, I think he had a couple of offers, but once you get to a certain age, Joe, man, I'm trying to win. I'm trying to win. It wasn't the right off of him. Yeah! And to know that come the season starts in what? October and nobody beginning of December we're out of playoffs.

33:48Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah.

33:53Shannon Sharpe:Hell no. Russ, they're damn there. Yeah, that's basically what he said. What athletic guards, all those athletic guards, he, D. Rose, you know, John Wall, guys that played above the rim.

34:10Chad Johnson:He was one of them.

34:12Shannon Sharpe:I mean, the one thing you can honestly say that you know that he going to give you everything he got. He emptied the tank.

34:21Chad Johnson:Every time. And a lot of cats don't bring that every night. No, hell no. Listen, because we talking about 82 games, bro. We talking about it's weeks. You can play four games in five nights. So, you know, you got guys have a tendency to take a game off. Man, I ain't never seen a dude take a game off.

34:39Shannon Sharpe:Nope. He's not a Hansel and Gretel player. What I mean by that, Chad, he don't save nothing for the trip home. You know, Hansel and Gretel, they dropped breadcrumbs so they could find their way home. That's not what he was. he emptied the tank every single game. Yes, he got out of control sometimes. Yeah, he took some ill-advised shots. But you know what? You got to live with that. Because there are a lot of guys that take ill-advised shots and don't play hard. At least the motherfucker going to play hard. And guess what? He take a bad shot. Hell, he going to try to chase that and get his own damn rebound.

35:14Shannon Sharpe:Y 'all take a bad shot and sit there and look at it, and your man going down the court and doesn't lay the damn ball up. and you up there looking like, what happened? You took a bad-ass shot, we were out of position, and you didn't get your ass back on defense. That's exactly what happened.

35:29Chad Johnson:Right.

35:32Shannon Sharpe:Well, Russ, congratulations, man, on a great, outstanding career. 18 seasons, over 27 ,000 points, over 10 ,000 rebounds. I think he had over 10 ,000 assists, over 8 ,000 rebounds. man fifth all time hell of a career bro Brody the regular season is over and now the big three playoffs are here this week Nancy Lieberman and the number one seed Dallas Power take on coach Michael Cooper Miami's 305 with everything on the line in Dallas Greg Monroe Glenn Rice Jr. Michael Beasley Rio Chalmers, Lance Stevenson big names, Rio Hoopers playoff intensity and no no easy buckets. Big three playoffs, Dallas Power versus the Miami 305.

36:23Shannon Sharpe:The Chicago Triplets takes on the Boston Ball Hogs. Tune in Saturday, August 15th at 12 p.m. Eastern on CBS. Joe, Dallas Power, Miami 305. Who you like and why?

36:39Chad Johnson:Okay, Ocho, the Dallas Power have been great all season, but man, I don't think nobody wanted 305 to make the playoffs.

36:48Shannon Sharpe:I ain't gonna lie to you, boy.

36:50Chad Johnson:I ain't gonna lie to you because that damn Lance Stevenson and Michael Beasley, man, listen, they are a handful. This is gonna be much-watched TV, bro. This is gonna be a hell of a game. Between 305 and Power, man, this is gonna be a hell of a game, bro. I ain't gonna lie. I think I got 305 in there.

37:10Shannon Sharpe:You gonna take 305? You gonna take Beas and Lance?

37:15Joe Johnson:It's only right. Anything else would be uncivilized.

37:19Chad Johnson:Here he go. Here he go. I'm just being honest with you. You are. You are. And what I will tell you, Ocho, in the big three, you got to be able to score the ball. They got two. 305 got two dynamic scores. Yes. You know, even if one of them is off hell, another one can go for 30. Can carry you.

37:36Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

37:36Chad Johnson:Yeah, we ain't going but to 50. So it's going to be tough, man. It's going to be a hell of a game.

37:42Shannon Sharpe:In the second game, you got the Chicago Triplets taking on the Boston Ball Hogs. That's Trez. Trez averaged a 30-point double-double, averaged 30-10. He's the first player in Big 3 history to average at least 30. Who do you like? Do you like the Triplets or the Ball Hogs, Joe?

38:02Chad Johnson:I think I'm going to go Ball Hogs with this one because Trez got to be way too special for them to win. He has to be heroic for them to win. See, the ball hall's got three, four guys who are going to pitch in. All of them are going to have 12, 15, 17 points. And that's how they're going to beat you by committee. As opposed to the triplets, they're going to lean so much on Trez, him trying to get 30. I don't see it. I'm just going to keep it 100. I got the ball because they got guys who can guard a guy like Trez. They got them tall, long, athletic guys. It's going to be a good one.

38:35Shannon Sharpe:So you got Miami 305 to take down the Dallas Power, who's been the number one seed, who's been the best team all year long. And you got the ball hogs to take down the triplets. So you got the ball hogs and the 305, and Miami 305 in the finals. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think I'm going to go. Come on, Trez. You going triplets? I want to see Trez and Beasley and them hook up for the championship. You know they played in the championship last year, huh?

39:08Chad Johnson:Who won? 305 won the championship last year against the same people that's gonna win this year

39:19Joe Johnson:yeah joe hey hey oh no joe you joe you at home huh i'm i'm i'm somewhere around now what's up oh no i'm just asking you know you know i'm gonna be i'm be down there down there tomorrow you told me you were coming today no i'm gonna fly my flight at uh eight in the morning

40:29Joe Johnson:You putting up who numbers? Brody.

40:32Shannon Sharpe:Brody, what you talking about? And you have a triple, what did you about to have a head of triple single last time?

40:39Joe Johnson:Hey, I told you, man, what's the name and bet man on the MVP award, that's all.

40:44Shannon Sharpe:Okay, well, ain't nobody getting no bet now.

40:46Joe Johnson:I got my ass out of the way of them people money, man. I ain't playing with them people money. Hey, tomorrow, hey, Joe, you know, I'm wearing Chucks tomorrow too, uh,

40:56Chad Johnson:he ain't gonna make it is he, huh? No. That's all I plan. Come on, man.

41:05Shannon Sharpe:Lord have mercy Big three playoffs are here Dallas Power take on Miami 305 and the Chicago Triplets takes on Boston Ball Hogs. Tune in Saturday August 15th at 12pm Eastern Time.

51:33Chad Johnson:Oh, Joe, I ain't never been no... You know what?

51:36Joe Johnson:You know what? I ain't never been that either, Joe. Okay. But I know who Pinky and Cherokee are.

51:40Chad Johnson:Okay.

51:42Joe Johnson:Huh? I was in church every Sunday, Joe, but I still know who Pinky and Cherokee are.

51:50Shannon Sharpe:I tell you that. I don't know. You know, I know what. I got whooped, but I got killed last time, so I ain't gonna even break her name. Oh, yeah. What was her name? What'd you say? She about this big. What are you talking about?

52:02Joe Johnson:Who are you talking about, Joe? I don't know. Did he know? I don't know the new ones. I don't know the new ones. Yeah, you see, hey. And she about four. I know the old folk.

52:13Shannon Sharpe:She about four, about four, six. Yeah. Yeah. Four, six? Who that, that little? Little, yeah.

52:22Chad Johnson:Doing her thing, ain't it, man?

52:24Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, man, yeah. Yeah, I already know it.

52:34Shannon Sharpe:What a chance, say what a name is, don't you? Oh, yeah, Queen Rogue now. I know Queen Rogue.

52:44Joe Johnson:Shoot, ain't anybody said her name yet. Oh, Minnie Stallion? Let me Google this. Let me see what this is.

52:52Shannon Sharpe:Badly, I'm walking alone, don't you?

52:53Chad Johnson:I don't know what that is.

52:54Shannon Sharpe:Let me see what that is, Minnie Stallion. There y 'all go down there talking about, Don't nobody know, but everybody want to Google it. Y 'all see how they do, champ? Y 'all see how they do it simultaneous. Don't nobody know, but everybody Googling.

53:06Chad Johnson:A horse came up.

53:11Shannon Sharpe:You need to put that old, Ben and Stan, your corn on the end.

53:22Joe Johnson:You sure it's the right person?

53:23Shannon Sharpe:Y 'all terrible, man. It's the right person? a little African American chick? Yeah.

53:33Joe Johnson:Yeah, that's all. Like real slim? Yeah. Okay. Better? Okay.

53:43Shannon Sharpe:Man, y 'all get up the girl page, man. Dang. My bad, my bad, my bad.

53:47Joe Johnson:I ain't never.

53:49Shannon Sharpe:Y 'all see? Y 'all see Joe Howe Ochoa ISO invested? Y 'all see?

53:56Joe Johnson:I was just curious. I was just curious.

54:00Chad Johnson:Yeah.

54:02Shannon Sharpe:Triple X, Cop Saturday, ISO. We have a betting NBA scandal. The Clippers situation and now the Lakers situation. What is going on with the NBA? Hold on.

54:12Chad Johnson:What happened with the Lakers? What happened with the Lakers?

54:14Shannon Sharpe:The Lakers sold last year to Mark Walters for 10 billion.

54:18Chad Johnson:Yeah. He sold it.

54:20Shannon Sharpe:He turned around and flipped it for 12 billion. He made a little 2 billion profit. it normally team more normally you know 25 percent in less than a year on that kind of you don't normally turn that kind of investment but he's under he allegedly he's under investigation with some of his insurance companies some things that's going on that they the sec has stepped in and say want to take a deeper dive want to take a deeper look so i think that's what hey man we got up off of it quick huh and we we talking about billionaires here so yeah they Because it's being reported that Bob Iger, who used to be the CEO of Disney, and Josh Kushner, who's the brother of Jerry Kushner, who's the son-in-law of President Trump, who married President Trump's daughter, they purchased the Lakers.

55:10Shannon Sharpe:Now, they were involved with a group that was going to look into purchase the Las Vegas team to get the Las Vegas team. But they pivoted because they see where that price is headed. So for them to pivot and take the Lakers, That means this price, that expansion team, that thing might have been north of 12. Damn. So we might as well go and get a proven commodity.

55:33Chad Johnson:Yeah. Which is the Lakers. Come on, man. You know, hey, hey, hey. That ain't going nowhere, partner. That's stuck in stone.

55:46Shannon Sharpe:Man, y 'all be doing all these people. I don't know none of these people y 'all be talking about. Uh, Sheldon Pope, 51-25. Happy National Left-Handers Day. ISO, top four left-handed hoopers. Ocho, top four southpaw boxers. Up, top four left-handed quarterbacks. Joe, you first. Top four left-handed hoopers.

56:07Chad Johnson:My mama was left-handed, bruh. Top four left-handed hoopers. I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go James Harden.

56:18Chad Johnson:top four left-handed. Manu. Oh, hell yeah. Manu Ginobili.

56:30Chad Johnson:Who else out there left-handed? I need some help.

56:32Shannon Sharpe:Sharunas Marcellonas was left-handed. Josh Smith was left-handed.

56:42Shannon Sharpe:Michael Cage was left-handed.

56:45Chad Johnson:I feel like it's some

56:46Shannon Sharpe:artist Gilmore was left handed

56:48Chad Johnson:I'm gonna go with my boy Smooth at three I know I'm missing some damn body who Cole Jalen Rose

56:58Shannon Sharpe:J-Rose yep

57:02Joe Johnson:top four sidepaw boxers Ocho oh this is a good one this is really easy obviously I'm gonna put eight time division world champ Manny Pacquiao Pac-Man yep Pac-Man. Sweet Pea Parnell Whitaker.

57:19Chad Johnson:Yep. That's a good one.

57:20Joe Johnson:Listen, and right now, even though he's retired, I'm sure he's coming back at some point to fight. He got to fight somebody because what is boxing right now without Bud Crawford? He ain't coming. Bud Crawford. Okay. And my last one, I can go Usyk. I can go Marvelous Marvin Hagler. I know both of them. I mean, which one? Do I go Hagler or do I go Usyk? Both of them Southpaws though Yeah Marvelous Hey Joe You know how my stance is when I whoop on you I'm going to be Southpaw too

57:57Shannon Sharpe:Southpaw stance Joe

57:58Chad Johnson:He can get the Southpaw ass whooped too I tell you Yeah all that look That look good Until you get hit

58:09Joe Johnson:Joe my defense Too solid now Joe you're not going to be able to get through there boy. Top four left-handed

58:14Shannon Sharpe:quarterbacks. Well, I got to start with Steve Young. Then I'm going to go Mike Vick.

58:20Joe Johnson:Ooh, that's a good one.

58:22Shannon Sharpe:Tua.

58:26Joe Johnson:Tua. Boomer Sison. Oh, that's right. Boomer sling that thing, boy.

58:35Shannon Sharpe:AKA government name is Norman.

58:46Shannon Sharpe:left handed. I'm gonna go one I know you don't know left handed. He had the Russian record for quarterback Bobby Douglas old Chicago bear. Bobby Douglas. That must have been a long time ago. I know what you know what I'm gonna go Jim Zorn. You remember Jim Zorn from Seattle?

59:05Joe Johnson:Mm-mm.

59:07Shannon Sharpe:He threw all the passes to Steve Largent. So I'm going Jim Zorn. So I'm going Steve Young, Mike Vick, Boomer Sison, Jim Zorn. David Walker, 8960. What's up, fellas? And still, could you give a shout-out to my wife, Renee? I wish her a happy anniversary. 11 years and counting. Absolutely. Renee, David, your husband, wanted to wish you a happy anniversary. Say, man, you know what? These 11 years, they've flown by. They've been a breeze. And say, you know what? He wouldn't have anybody else by his side other than you. Renee, happy 11th anniversary to you and David. Yes, sir. Which NFL team is going into a new season thinking there are Super Bowl contenders, but by week six, we're going to be saying, all right, everybody go home.

1:00:07They're playing Texas.

1:00:08Chad Johnson:Hey, you got it. You talking about Houston, Texas? You damn sure ain't talking about the Dallas Cowboys. You got to cut it out. Yeah. You talking about the Houston, Texas. Yeah.

1:00:26Shannon Sharpe:Who got Super Bowl aspirations by week six? Week six, it's hard to be out of it Because even if you're 2-4 or 3-3, you still got – because now with that extra game and they take an extra team to the playoffs, you're really not out of it. I would say –

1:00:49Shannon Sharpe:Damn sure it ain't going to be my Broncos or the Ravens.

1:00:52Chad Johnson:You don't want to throw the Bengals in there? Yeah, the Bengals, probably the Bengals, yeah.

1:00:58Shannon Sharpe:Glad you brought that up, Joe. Yeah, the Bengals.

1:01:00Joe Johnson:You know what? I ain't even going to argue the fact.

1:01:08Shannon Sharpe:Oh, people like the way Love looked tonight, but what about the Rook Washington Jr. for the Raiders? Broke free on a 50-yard on one carry.

1:01:19Shannon Sharpe:I think the Raiders got some pieces. You know, I think Mendoza is going to be really good. I like the fact that they're not rushing him out there. I really like that. Yeah, let the man develop. Let the man study. You know, Brady's like, man, we're rushing these quarterbacks out there when they're not ready to play, and we're ruining them.

1:01:37Joe Johnson:Yeah, and Brady's probably one of the reasons why this is happening too, because he spoke out about it publicly.

1:01:50Shannon Sharpe:I'm not saying underscore. I'm just saying I made a friendly wager yesterday that Gibbs would have more all-purpose yards than Bijan. What you think? You think Gibbs has more all-purpose yards than B-John? I don't. O-Jone and Joe? I don't.

1:02:04Chad Johnson:Hey, that's a good one, boy. I don't. B-John. B-John, serious. What? Gibbs, serious? No, no, no. Gibbs is the truth, too, O-Jones. Yeah. Gibbs is the truth, too. They both too bad.

1:02:16Shannon Sharpe:Gibbs just got speed to just, like, burn. I mean, Gibbs just, like, he run fast. Some people look fast. No, he really run fast.

1:02:25Joe Johnson:Yeah. B-John not slow either, though.

1:02:28Shannon Sharpe:No, no, no, no. He's not slow. But the bad. It's a difference. You can tell the difference between 4-3 and 4-4 speed.

1:02:35Joe Johnson:Oh, yeah.

1:02:36Shannon Sharpe:Absolutely. Man, that joker hit that crease. I forget who it was. And put his head down and just ran out from under the angle.

1:02:45Chad Johnson:I went to the Falcons and Bills game last year. And Bijan had like, I'm talking first half. That boy had some crazy numbers first half. I think he had like. Oh, yeah.

1:02:56Shannon Sharpe:He broke the 80-yarder.

1:02:58Chad Johnson:that man had 100-something yards in the first half. I'm telling you, he was booking.

1:03:03Joe Johnson:Yeah, not only can he go, boy, Joe, he'll shake you out your shoes, boy. Right in front of you.

1:03:11Shannon Sharpe:Apache Hall underscore 95, do you guys have any superstitions? When you played, I always wore black church socks, and I scored my first two touchdowns, and I would pray like Troy Palomaro before every play. Ocho, you had any superstitions?

1:03:25Joe Johnson:I mean, not really. I think eating the same thing for breakfast would probably be my only superstition obviously we know that that was McDonald's I had to have my hot cakes with sausage and my sausage with muffin and orange juice and that was routine for me whether we played home or away I wouldn't really call that a superstition but I just I didn't feel right if I didn't have my normal meal

1:03:50Shannon Sharpe:Joe you had any superstitions

1:03:53Chad Johnson:when I think back if I played great, I always tried to see what it was. You know what I mean? Like, was it the socks I was wearing? Was it the shoes? Have I... Because I didn't really like playing in shoes, Uncle Ocho, no more than like three, four times. You know what I mean? So, I've had times where I've worn shoes a lot longer because I played great in them. You know what I mean? So, I'm like, hey, these got me on fire. Yeah, I don't want to ran some shoes in the ground, boy.

1:04:26Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, I was very superstitious. I did. I was very superstitious. I mean, it was like, it was basically a damn near an obsession. Right. Yeah. But when you have success doing something one way, you stick with it. You stick with it. Thank you guys for joining us for another episode of Nightcap.
