In short
This Nightcap episode covers two main NBA news items plus a lot of listener Q&A. Topic 1: Jonathan Kuminga signing with the Minnesota Timberwolves on a two-year, $12.4M deal (with a one-plus-one). Hosts debate whether Minnesota is the right “home” for Kuminga after struggles with the Warriors/Hawks and whether he can become a consistent two-way “Swiss Army knife” role player (guarding, rebounding, scoring).
Key claims
Minnesota’s defense could be a “monster” with Jaden McDaniels and Rudy Gobert, and LaMelo Ball’s pass-first style should create easier looks for Kuminga.
Notable examples
comparisons to Golden State’s pecking order (Steph Curry making secondary options look better), and a “Ray Allen effect” analogy for role expectations. Topic 2: Draymond Green “dry snitching” about Klay Thompson’s fit with the Heat—arguing media is setting Klay up for failure and questioning whether Klay’s independent habits match Heat culture (including a story about being late to a press conference).
Guest backgrounds
no traditional guests; it’s hosted by Chad “Ocho Cinco” Johnson and ISO Joe Johnson, with Draymond Green/Klay/Steph referenced via clips.

Jonathan Kaminga has agreed to a two-year,$12.4 million deal with the Timberwolves. Part of the Minnesota pitch to Kaminga will fill the vacant starting role for in a long slide, Ant-Man, Lamella Ball, Jane Daniels, and Rudy Gobert on an established Western Conference. Joe, Golden State, he didn't play well. Atlanta, he didn't play well. Minnesota team will they be the team that gets the best because remember he turned out like what a 48 million dollar deal from Golden State he's bet on himself every location he's been is it finally time now that Jonathan Kaminga the bet that he's placed on himself is it finally going to play
3:09Chad Johnson:I didn't think Kaminga played bad for the Hawks I just think in the times that we really needed him he couldn't really come through but he showed flashes the brilliance to where you know you like damn. He looks like he could be a great cornerstone for a team. I like him going to Minnesota. I think they have a bunch of guys who've been tested and want to come out and prove guys wrong, especially without having him in the lineup, you miss that element of a two-way player. Kamingo is great, dog. I think if he buys into the role, Uncle Ocho, and being somewhat of a Swiss Army knife, it's going to be nice where you get 16 shots.
3:46Chad Johnson:Hell, it's going to be nice where you probably ain't going to get but eight. You know what I mean? But your energy and effort has to be a constant night in and night out because that's what their team, the Minnesota Timberwolves, is going to need from him. They're going to need for him to do a little bit of everything, guard some of the best players, they'll rebound, playmate, score at times, and you got to hope he buys in. If he buys in, I think he has a talent to help them get over the hump. And that's the only problem. You know, he's just got to buy into the system.
4:17Shannon Sharpe:Ojo, you like it? You like Kaminga going to Minnesota? There was speculation that he might end up joining the Lakers, being their starting lineup alongside Luka, Walker, Kessler. I don't know who the other guys are going to start. But many people thought he was going to end up with the Lakers. Now we know Jonathan Kaminga is now on a two-year deal, one plus one, with the Minnesota Timberwolves. I mean, I like it. I like it. I just don't know why he struggled so much. I'm not sure why he can't find a place, why he can't find a home, be a starter. And I thought it was really good, especially for him to be making the noise that he made when he was with the Warriors and wanting to have a bigger role.
5:02And the fact that he can't stick is confusing to me. It's confusing to me. So I think when you bounce around like this, I think it does something to your confidence. When you really think you're a little better than what others view you as, I think it can take a toll on you. I think he could take a toll on you. So hopefully this sticks, you know, for him. And he's found a home.
5:24Chad Johnson:Think about this, though, Uncle Ocho. That back line defense they got with Jaden Daniels, Jaden Daniels, Rudy, and Kaminga. Man, defensively, I think they're going to be a monster defense. Especially, I'm talking about when you're playing against an upper echelon team, meaning the OKCs, the Spurs. man they got some talent to where they can really compete with the best i mean hell if you minnesota boy you hey you lucky to get comingo i mean that's a void that you feel and i think he gonna i mean you can insert him right away a guy who's always in shape the only thing he just has to buy into
6:01Shannon Sharpe:the system yeah um i think now you're probably looking back saying man i probably should took that three-year deal,$48 million from the Golden State Warriors. It's kind of like Dennis Schroeder. Remember he had that four-year deal for$80 million from the Lakers, and now he's been on nine teams in the last two and a half years.
6:25Chad Johnson:I think the thing that's a little different for Kaminga, I don't think he wanted to even stay in Golden State, so him turn down that$40-something million. That was like, man, I can get that whenever. never. I think he banking on himself now. Let's say he go to Minnesota. Let's say they do make it to the finals. You know what I mean? On a two-year deal, you make room for improvement and you'll still be able to get a long-term deal. It may not be for Minnesota here, but you still got other 31 teams who watch it. Yeah.
6:57Shannon Sharpe:I think the thing for him, Joe, he could not get out of his head like stiff. He's like, man, I can ball. Sometimes you get caught up in a situation like, man, y 'all let him shoot bad. shots but anytime I take a shot y 'all looking at me sideways y 'all snatch me out of the game yeah he's Steph though Steph can take bad shots there ain't enough bad shots Steph can take before Steve Curtis snatch him out of the ball game you take one or two bad shots they call the
7:22Chad Johnson:time out you coming out the game it's it's it's a pecking order when you go to some of these teams obviously playing in Golden State yes it's a pecking order Steph gonna get the first right to refuse it don't matter what type of damn shot he take he can shoot whenever he want to It ain't going to be much different in Minnesota. Ant-Man ain't going to shoot when he want to. The great thing about Minnesota is that LaMelo Ball, he can score, but he's a pass-first point guard. So, like, he'll be able to get those guys involved. He'll be able to get Kaminga easy buckets. He'll be able to get McDaniels easy buckets, Rudy easy buckets.
7:58Chad Johnson:So, I think that's where they win right there because nowadays, if you're a point guard, you lead your team in scoring. You know what I mean? LaMelo isn't like that. I think he's going to be a great addition for Minnesota. I love the Kamingo pickup. I think the Timberwolves are trending in the right direction.
8:17Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, I think the thing is people don't realize how easy Steph makes it for him, though. When Steph is on the court, he makes it easy for everybody because he draws so much attention. Look at Jordan Poole, the numbers he's putting up when he played with Steph. Right.
8:31Chad Johnson:Yeah, we.
8:31Shannon Sharpe:Bro, you a secondary option. They ain't putting you in the game plan. They putting the number 30 in the game plan. They trying to stop Wardell. They ain't trying to stop you. So you're going to get as easy a look as you're ever going to get.
8:45Chad Johnson:He gets all the attention, and he's most dangerous when he doesn't have the ball. Okay, Ojo. Steffi. So teams know that. So, yeah, man, you're going to play with a guy like that? Hey, you're always going to get some easy looks.
9:01Shannon Sharpe:Draymond Green appeared to shave his former teammate Clay Thompson after Klay's side with the Heat. Let's take a listen. I don't like how everybody's trying to act like, oh, man, it's Klay Thompson. Like, Klay to the Heat. Like, this is Klay of 2018. And the reason I don't like it is because I feel like everybody's trying to set Klay up for failure. And so I'm going to say it right here, right now.
9:23Chad Johnson:Let's stop acting like 2017 as Klay is going to Miami. I wish sports media would speak to it more like when Ray Allen went to Miami. me like that's the role i'd expect to clay don't don't don't try to set my brother up like you about to get the 2017 clay sold the moment you don't y 'all can bash him that's he's going to year 16 of his career we obviously know the injuries that he's faced yes he is going to go provide shooting because he shoot the lights out the ball and when he's 60 he'll be able to shoot the lights out the ball but don't don't don't try to build it up like oh Oh man, look what happened so that y 'all can tear him down when he's not averaging 20 points a game.
10:05That's what media does and I don't like that.
10:09Chad Johnson:Hey. Joe, what you thinking? I wonder who he was talking about as far as media because ain't nowhere in hell. I thought Klay was going to go over there and average 20, I think just by him being on the court with Giannis and Bam, making teams be honest, you know, not leaving him. Yeah, he going to knock down some shots. And Draymond is right. Like, it's more of the Ray Allen effect, him going to Miami. Like, they ain't finna get Klay the ball, and he go out there and bop, bop, and he gonna be averaging 20, 19, 20. That ain't gonna happen. I ain't never thought that. But to have him on a team, when you got Giannis and Bam, who's gonna eat up a lot of space and create a lot of different opportunities, you need a guy like Klay on your team.
10:48Chad Johnson:I think he fits right in. I ain't never, I mean, I don't know how you guys feel, but I don't think he going there to pull up no damn monster numbers. I think he's going to be a great piece to a puzzle. Yes.
11:00Shannon Sharpe:Dre didn't stop there. He also questioned if Klay fits heat culture. Let's take a listen to this. And he was late to the introductory press conference because he was stuck in Miami traffic. That is Klay Thompson. Now, I found it interesting when I saw they said Klay going to Miami, and I was like, oh, that heat culture thing. I don't know how that's going to work for Klay because Klay moves to the beat of his own draw. Clay does what Clay does And it's no maliciousness to it It's just who Clay is And I want to see how that fits into The Heat culture stuff
11:37Chad Johnson:I tell you what I tell you what Clay better get his ass in gear Cause I'm telling you Pat ain't playing all that man Hey look The small duration time that I was there I never seen him show favoritism In everybody When I say everybody, Uncle Ocho, everybody showed up not on time. Hell, if you're on time, you're late. You know what I'm saying? Like way before time. I'm serious, bro. Like it's a real thing. I hear what Draymond is saying, that Klay moves to the beat of his own drum. Hell no. It's not going to happen, bro. You mean to tell me practice at 10, you trying to say Klay going to be coming in there at 10?
12:19Chad Johnson:No, man, that ain't happening, bro. They don't move like that. They don't work like that.
12:25Shannon Sharpe:Boy, the thing is that these guys, and the fact is that, you know, you hear Draymond say he moved to the own drum and Clay, you know, how he does the heat culture. I just laugh when I see some of these guys show up late and be late for meetings. I was like, that ear should never fly with Mike. Amen.
12:49Shannon Sharpe:Because he viewed it as disrespectful. He said because it's like everybody's here on time with you. Why is your time more important than everybody else's? Good question. That's one of my pet peeves is being late. Had a friend of mine that was late today. I don't know his name, Jordan. But Shelly gave the wrong information. He was late because Shelly gave the wrong information. I will say that. It was Shelly's fault. Shelly gave the wrong information. I'm downstairs in the lobby, Joe. I'm like, okay.
13:30Shannon Sharpe:I text him. He ain't text back. I said, bro, you got to catch an Uber. I'm gone. He come to find out. He made sure he threw Shelly up under the bus. Quick.
13:44Shannon Sharpe:He's like, look up. Look up, boss. Hey. She said 12th. She said 125. It was 1225. She forgot the two. But she owned up to it. Yeah, yeah, that's a – but it just – but Draymond, you dry snitched on that man. You make it seem like the man be late for a lot of stuff too, though.
14:05Chad Johnson:Hey, when you win, Uncle Hell, you know, they let a lot go now. They get – hold on. No, they don't. Hey, he was in Golden State. Them boy won four titles. I'm sure he got away with a lot now. You right.
14:19Shannon Sharpe:But I'm going to tell you what. We went back-to-back tired of the Mice and the Hanna wasn't having that. He'd find the hell out you. And so you keep coming late. You're not going to be here. You're not going to be here, guys. And listen. Hey. Accountability. You know what? And that's the thing. Accountability is huge because you never accept anything in a win that you wouldn't have lost. And what happens is, is that because you're good, you start winning. Now all of a sudden, Joe, you start losing. Now that's the issue. You late. That's why we lose it. No, no, no, no, no, no. You didn't say anything when I was winning.
14:57Shannon Sharpe:If we was late, you didn't say the reason why we're winning is because I'm late. But now because we're losing, it's the issue. Correct negative behavior. There are certain things you need correction to regardless because you never reward negative behavior. My grandfather always said, boy, he said, boy, a kid acting fool, he said, you don't reward negative behavior. He cried and you jumped down there and you got by him candy or you gave him an ice cream. Jump down there and shut down on his ass. You'll get up. Lesson learned. Lesson learned. Ocho, you got the guy that you wanted. You said Clay was going to Miami.
15:37Shannon Sharpe:I don't know. It seems like he does things to his own beat. and everybody thinking that Klay is going to average 20, 22 points a game like he did prime Klay. We understand we're not getting Golden State Klay. We are right. We need him because the spacing is going to be so phenomenal for Klay to be able to hit his shots. We just need you to come in here just like Ray Allen when Ray Allen was here. What did Ray Allen? He had some key shots and key moments. I'm not saying we're going to be in the finals or be you know you know playing for something like that but we're going to be okay and there's one more move that might happen to what yeah you try to somebody go get Kyrie cuz that's been the kind of the bullet hold on hold on hold on hold on hold on there's one more move that might happen to the greatest handler of the basketball the wizard the magician himself hey Huh?
16:35Uncle Jim? You know what? I ain't going to say that.
16:37Shannon Sharpe:That trade would make no sense if I'm the Mavericks. Because you're not winning no championship with just no Cooper flag. And I think he's going to be a phenomenal player. But if you think that's all you need, I don't know if you'll make the playoffs again. I don't know if you'll make the playoffs with just the flag. They need Kyrie.
16:55Chad Johnson:Hold on. Even with Kyrie, they're going to struggle to be a playoff team.
17:00Shannon Sharpe:For sure.
17:01Chad Johnson:In the West? Yes. hey well if you're gonna struggle with him and you're gonna struggle without him go ahead and then come on down here huh what we talking about but when it happened just know who said it first all right i'm anxious to see how he gonna look how trey's gonna look i think he

20:58Shannon Sharpe:all right we have three video voicemails for my discord let's take a listen to the first one hey what's going on nightcap fam hey listen hey anka and ocho i got a quick question for y 'all first what do y 'all think is the best defense of all time you got the 76 Steelers the 85 Bears the 2000 Ravens I know I'm probably gonna be a little biased on that one you also got the 2002 Buccaneers and then you got the Legion of Boom and I so I got a start bench or a cut for you I this one's a good one for you. You got Jagged Jagged Edge, Jodeci or Drew Hill. Let me know. Joe, you want to go for.
21:46Chad Johnson:I'm going. Joe to see Jagged is through here. Yeah, man, ain't coming. You know, right? Come on now. Come on. Don't do that. What you want? Hey, what you tell me what you need? You cut him? For Jagged Edge and Jodeci? For Jagged Edge and Jodeci? Okay, okay, okay, okay. My bad, my bad, my bad. Well, on to that next question, Uncle Joe.
22:18Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Ain't nobody seeing that 2000 Ravens. Yeah. Them 85, I mean 2002, no, 20 what, 2012 Legion of Boom? Yes. Ain't nobody seeing them Ravens, man. For me, Ocho, I think you got to win. For me, you have to win the championship. The problem is that the 76 Steelers, as great as that defense was, they didn't win the championship. What people don't realize is that if you go back and look at it, the 86 Bears statistically was better than the 85 Bears. Yeah. If you go back and look at those numbers, when they got 72 sacks and they got 31 picks and you look at what they accomplished, you're like, oh, my God.
23:01Shannon Sharpe:but nobody remembers. And that just goes to show you how great the 76 Steelers was because the 76 Steelers, they won 74-75, and they lost the championship. They lost the AFC championship, if I'm not mistaken, in 76. Might have been to the Raiders. They might have lost the championship. I think they lost to the Raiders. And then they lose again in 77, and then they win back-to-back in 78, 79. So that's where you get the Dynasty 4 in six years. 2 ,000 Ravens, I'm biased. Yes, you're absolutely right. So even if you throw the 2012 Legion of Boom, you throw the 02 Buccaneers, I ain't taking nobody because I saw it with my own two eyes.
23:47Shannon Sharpe:There's something to be said about something you witness for yourself. That's why watching Barry Sanders, I think he's one of the five greatest players that I've ever seen He played with my own two eyes. Watching him. I mean, you can watch him on TV. It's like, oh, my God, Barry is unbelievable. But to see him in person and to see how he jumped, start, cut, start, stop, you had to see him. To see Jerry play, to see LT, and to see Reggie, and to see Jerry, to see Tom, some things you got to see for yourself. Let's take a listen to our second one.
24:29Chad Johnson:Balcony Slayer, Liberty City Lizard, Back Dojo. Now I'm just playing. This is Ronnie Hardaway. Look, fellas, ISO played in Atlanta for too long for us to be calling him Back Dojo. We're going to give our big cousin a name he can't get rid of, a nickname he can't get rid of. So I propose we stall him out on that no Joe only if He sit down with uncle club Shay Shay like Ochoa did He oh he always that Ochoa did it. We know our story. He tell it every night on nightcap. We've got to know Joe story It don't make you no bad brother if you don't do it But we just gonna keep calling you back though, if you don't know you hello Yeah, Joe.
25:18Shannon Sharpe:I'm just saying that's what the people want. The people want that.
25:20Chad Johnson:That's what the people want, huh?
25:23Shannon Sharpe:The people want you to sit down on Club Shay Shay. Just have a conversation with...
25:28Chad Johnson:You ready? We'll talk about it. We'll get the people what they want. We'll talk about it.
25:34Shannon Sharpe:That's what I need to hear. That's what I need to hear. All right. Let's take a listen to our final one. Oh, Ocho and Steel King. I sold Joe Johnson, AKA Backdoor Joe. But look, shout out to the whole Nightcap fam, Ash, Jordan, the editing team, the graphics team, the whole Nightcap fam. I appreciate y 'all for using one of my video voicemails in last week's segment of the Q &A. I just wanted to get on here and say, man, I'm a big supporter, like I said. You're like LeBron. Where you go, we go, baby. Hey, but I love the Nightcap fam. I sold, you don't got me fooled, brother. because I know you, and I know when you got something, bro.
26:15I know it. And it's okay you a freak, man, because guess what? That don't make you no bad, brother. But I love y 'all, man. Shout out to the whole Big Three, man. It's no surprise y 'all number one, man. Keep it up.
26:26Chad Johnson:Hey, hold on. Hold on. See y 'all understand you? Joe, everybody know that about you, Joe. Everybody know that. Man, y 'all must have had to dig through them damn voice notes to find that. Come on, man. Come on, Ash. What we doing, Ash? It don't make you no bad brother, Joe.
26:41Shannon Sharpe:hey you still oh oh joe joe you still number three you you remember of the nightcap family i tell you what hey joe you're number one in my book yeah hey i ain't never been around some some cats bro who want me to be the freakiest dude in the room i don't understand oh no i oh i want it i want to talk about that joe i'm just saying like you're number one like you might you my dog yeah you don't care what they say about you i told them at the barbershop i was down to say man what I said, man, what's Joe like? I said, Joe, my favorite car if he don't ever crank a game. That's how I, that's him. Hey, hey.
27:20Shannon Sharpe:He don't block. Ain't got no engine. But that's still my favorite car.
27:23Chad Johnson:Hey, y 'all gotta chill, bro. Y 'all gotta chill. Chat, chat, they gotta chill, chat. They doing way too much. They feel like y 'all doing way too much. Listen, I ain't never gonna be number one on no damn scale that y 'all on, okay?
27:36Shannon Sharpe:Joe, that's you, Joe. Hey, Joe. Joe, we'll be talking about basketball. I'm glad you know you ain't number one then.
27:46Chad Johnson:Hey, boy. Hey, Ocho, you better be in the gym every day getting them jumpers up. That's all I need. I am. I am, Joe. Don't worry about it. I'm going to be sharp, boy.
27:59Robert McDaniel Beck, good evening, big three.
28:02Shannon Sharpe:Today is my birthday. Can I get a happy birthday? Shout out. This will make my day complete. We've been watching Pod since 2024. I enjoy the stories and conversations. Thanking you in advance. Absolutely. Robin, happy birthday. Wow. Tell us what you did. Happy birthday. Did you do anything fun? Did you really enjoy your birthday? Look, I know it's another day, another trip around the sun, and you feel very, very fortunate. But did you get out with your girlfriend, your significant other, your husband? Did he take you out to do something fun? Did you really, really enjoy this birthday? We hope you did.
28:36Shannon Sharpe:and hopefully spending it with us tonight.
28:42Shannon Sharpe:Oh, congrats on sports media power ranking number six, way too low. We need to get you to number one. All of your subs can pitch in 5 ,000 and we can buy an NFL team. A team. And not them bum-ass Bengals. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. Not too much. Not too much on my Bengals, bro. Damn. Man, look here. We got to put. Yeah, we pitched in 5 ,000 and buy an NFL team. It might take a little bit more than that to get one of them teams. 5 ,000? Yeah, but... We wouldn't be able to get no cleats. No, 5 ,000 times 2 million? How much is that, Ocho? That might be enough. Enough to what? We get a percentage?
29:30Shannon Sharpe:What's 5 ,000 times 2 million? Man, they'll laugh at us and turn us around. I don't know what George put in his phone.
29:43Shannon Sharpe:Man, we can. It's 10 billion. Oh, yeah, we can buy the big. No, the Bengals are the least valuable franchise. They're at 7.4. Hey, we're talking about least valuable at 7.4 billion. But that's 10 billion. If all the subs gave 5 ,000, that's 10 billion. I don't know if you've seen them prices, but I don't even know if you can buy an NFL franchise for less than$13 billion now. Cowboys worth$15.5 billion, and then the Rams and the Giants, like$12. I mean, the Falcons,$9.8. The Broncos, like$9.7. You're not buying an NFL franchise. I don't know when the next NFL franchise is going to become available.
30:30Shannon Sharpe:It's probably going to be one of those in Seattle or Las Vegas. not Seattle, I'm talking about thinking basketball. I don't know when, you know, they're talking about overseas. Somebody overseas is going to probably spend$14,$15 billion. Yeah, I don't know when the next NFL franchise is going to become available. But when it does, it's going to be way north of$10 billion. It's going to be$12,$13,$14 billion. Look at the revenue that's going up, Ochoa, every year. And they get new revenue streams. The Netflix are involved now. The Amazon that is involved, they're sitting on$200 billion in cash.
31:19Cash.
31:20Shannon Sharpe:Can you imagine sitting on$200 billion in cash?
31:25Shannon Sharpe:And they want to be taken serious in the sporting space in order to do that you have to have live events number one live event in America is what NFL football and you better be careful because guess what happens next time around in 20 in 2030 the world cup guess who got money to buy it the Amazons and to Netflix. Fox got a deal the last time because they had to postpone it because remember Ocho, it was in Qatar and it was so hot and they had to move it to the fall. You won't be so lucky this time. Watch and see. They got major dollars. And guess what? Netflix in every country to get a deal in every country.
32:30Man.
32:33Shannon Sharpe:It make dollars. It make sense. Congratulate. Oh, you got that. Yeah, but I want to thank everybody. I want to thank Complex, number six on the sports media ranking. Really, really appreciate that, guys. Appreciate your support. Appreciate my followers, my subs on all platforms. Thank you, guys, because all of this is possible because of you. Y 'all funny as hell. I work in construction in the Texas heat and y 'all be having me die. Also, did y 'all see these new Texas robber uniforms? They fire. Yeah, absolute idea. I saw them. That white with that. Yeah, man. That's nice.
33:08Chad Johnson:You're talking about the NFL, right? They went with that vintage. It's almost like that vintage old school look for a lot of these jerseys. They look good.
33:20Shannon Sharpe:See? That's how they get you. Guess what? They got a new jersey. Guess who walked in New Jersey? The kids.
33:27Chad Johnson:The fans.
33:28Shannon Sharpe:And guess what? They're going to come out with a new rivalry jersey. They're going to have a new rivalry jersey next year. And eventually, guess what they're going to come back with, Ocho? The throwbacks. You know they always have the throwbacks come back. Hey, hold on, hold on.
33:41Chad Johnson:Y 'all know they brought the starter jackets back. Yeah. Man, they back. I was just in the – I just – I think it was. I'm talking about like – Yeah. Yeah, they got true starter jacket, the pullover joints. Them pullover joints, Ocho.
34:01Shannon Sharpe:Okay. I ain't going to lie. Not the button, though.
34:03Chad Johnson:I seen a Falcon one. That jump was so hard, I couldn't do it, though.
34:09Shannon Sharpe:There you go. Oh, you waiting on the Cowboys starter jacket.
34:12Chad Johnson:Jerry don't sit here with everybody. You know, you got to find his exclusively online and all that.
34:20Shannon Sharpe:Online or you got to go to Texas? Yeah. Because he has an independent. He's the only one that's not a part of the NFL license.
34:29Chad Johnson:And he's trying to pocket all the money that come through there, ain't it man?
34:34Shannon Sharpe:Absolutely. Absolutely. Okay, I see.
34:44Shannon Sharpe:Wanted to put five on it and say, so happy. Y 'all killing it. Keep stacking them ads, fellas. Proud of you. and ISO, woo damn pig.
34:52Chad Johnson:Woo pig.
34:56Shannon Sharpe:Nightcap family has injuries always been at an all-time high or is it because we're exposed to seeing it more on all platforms? I think it's – maybe it's – but even when I was around, even when I played Ocho, I don't remember having – I think for me it might be the injuries, who the injuries are happening to. Two, yeah. some of the better players obviously your main running backs your main quarterbacks your receivers
35:29I think also TV, social media plays a part into it plays a huge role there's a little bit more exposure so we're getting to see some of these injuries first hand in real time when they do happen because of social media I think basketball is different though
35:47Chad Johnson:because a lot of our stars, our main stars, our superstars, megastars, these are the guys getting hurt. The game is played at a much faster pace now. You know what I mean? So if you normally log 35, 40 minutes a night, 42 minutes a night over a course of 82-game season, I'm sorry, man. You're going to probably end up dealing with something. You're going to deal with something, bro. It's too up and down now as opposed to back in the day, when teams were scoring, hell, 90, 95 points a night. Yeah, they weren't getting up and down like that.
36:22Shannon Sharpe:85 points. Yeah, yeah.
36:23Chad Johnson:Now, hell, if you ain't averaging at least 115 points a night, hell, you probably, you getting your head beat in every night.
36:32Shannon Sharpe:Almighty James, two times, how's it a defenseless player if you got a helmet and shoulder pads on? That's what I said, James, yeah. That's the best thing. You had the arm to the teeth. Vontaze Burfeet wouldn't last three games with these new rules they just announced. He wouldn't. Hell, there wasn't any rules back then, and he still didn't last. Hey, Nightcap fam, may I get a birthday shout-out to my big brother Bernard, who's more like a father, huge inspiration, and someone I look up to. Love, absolutely. Bernard, your brother, your baby brother said he wanted to give you a birthday shout-out.
37:12Shannon Sharpe:Hopefully everything's going well. This is not even really a birthday shout-out. He just want to thank you for being the best big brother there is. So you're more like a father to it, more like a big inspiration. And he wanted to let you know. So if he's never told you this, you know it right now.
37:31Shannon Sharpe:Reason to us, how does a defender bring a man down at a different angle before dropping himself to the ground? Same as the helmet to helmet on offense, lowered themselves and brace for the hit, helmet to helmet. You're right. But sometimes those guys do that. They just drop their weight down on the back of somebody's legs and the guys have been getting hurt. They've done a great job. Did I hit up with the helmet? I've always said that because my instinct is, Joe, if I catch a pass and I know I'm about to get hit, I'm trying to brace. I'm trying to get into as tight a ball as I possibly can. And so where the guy's aiming point might be my stomach or might be my chest, now all of a sudden I try to get into this ball I bring my helmet into the striking area in which he had aimed.
38:15Shannon Sharpe:I totally agree with that. I totally agree. It's really hard to tell, but I know guys dropping their weight down, too many guys are getting high ankle sprains, getting knee injuries, getting lower leg injuries, and they're going to do things like, nah, we got to do something about this. I guess those Cleveland fans rub Watson the wrong way. He might want to get another team fan base. his membership is terminated in Cleveland. Yeah, I don't know if there's a fan base out there that's going to be accepting of him. I think he understands that. He knows that's a part of the game. That comes along with the territory.
38:53Shannon Sharpe:He does have some fans. Everybody's not against Deshaun Watson, but everybody is not a Deshaun Watson fan, and he must understand that. You heard what he said, Ocho? He said he gets those fans rubbed Watson the wrong way. He might want to get another team's fan base. His membership is terminated in Cleveland. Oh, he understands that. He understands that. Listen, as a player, most of the time, the team you play for, your fans are going to love you. You're used to the other 31 teams really not liking you, depending on who you're being. He's in an unfortunate situation where he's on a team, but most of the fans aren't too fond of him.
39:27Again, he can't worry about being like him. He can't. No. That's not his job. His job is to do the best of his ability when he's out there on Sundays and hoping to help that team win. and turn their franchise around.
39:40Chad Johnson:It's easier said than done, Joe. It's some cats who can use this as fuel and continue to play at an elite level. It's some cats, bro. It's not so good for them. You know what I mean? So hopefully he can turn this thing around, make it somewhat of a positive, but it's going to be tough, bro.
40:09Shannon Sharpe:Big three. Oh, Joe Joe getting married on Saturday. My name is Casey. Her name is Kayla. How about some love? I'm ready to the preach and defeat on the honeymoon. Mr. And Mrs. Taylor. Absolutely. Casey and Kayla. Happy early birthday. Wedding. Man, congratulations on the big, the big nuptials. Man, that's going to be unbelievable. Where y 'all going? Because don't you show up. But no, the big three, the family at NICAP want to congratulate you on the nuptials. Hopefully you have a long, blissful, happy married life. Hopefully you guys waited the time. You know each other very, very well. And at the slightest, the slightest disagreement, the slightest miscommunication, don't throw the towel in.
40:56Shannon Sharpe:Work it out. Because so many times now people are just so easy to throw the towel in and say, forget this, but y 'all work it out. But congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Taylor.

44:19Chad Johnson:I don't even know if I got nine. ain't gonna lie to y 'all uh a party you say a party i probably got it yeah you got a dinner party man listen i can bring i can bring my mom and my grandma back she yep well they first on the list you hear me they first on the list because see first off they they love to party have a good time dance music like i grew up that's the type of household i grew up in you know there's music always playing so my mom was a she loved dance she'd be dancing at the games okay ocho you know i mean so them them two first uh nine brian got nine people i'm bringing with me i'm gonna keep it real but yeah because you know you're only child so
45:04Shannon Sharpe:So, mine easy. Barney, Mary Porter.
45:10Shannon Sharpe:Granddaddy William, Grandma Charlie, that's four. Daddy, that's five. My brother and sister, that's six, seven. My mom, eight. Me, damn. Poor kid, they ain't going to be able to make this one. They're grown folk. Y 'all need to be there. My kids are going to see me. Daddy, we grown too.
45:40Shannon Sharpe:Who else? I ain't got it. You know what? I'm going to bring my high school coach. I'll bring Coach Hall. Because he knew everybody that's on the list. He knew them. He coached my dad. He knew my grandfather, my grandmother, both on both sides. So, yeah, that's my list. Who you got, Ocho? Well, you know, I'm bringing grandma and mama back. Bessie Mae Flowers, Paula Antoinette Johnson, my daddy. Obviously, you know, I'm a huge fan of Frank Sinatra. I'm bringing Sinatra back. Come on, chill with your boy. And I'm probably, I got five. I want Red Fox. I want Red Fox to be there too. My grandfather.
46:24I want my grandfather back. Right. I want my grandfather back.
46:30that's about it right there boy damn chauncey you ain't make the list well my my brother i thought i thought it was people that weren't not they can be live they could be live or not well i just i just went with people that's no longer here you know my brother them they'll be there but i like that people the people that no longer here especially those that i'm i'm fond of i never had opportunity to meet that'd be dope
46:56Shannon Sharpe:ocho jones got a question for y 'all why do ex-girlfriends reach out years later after they broke up with you or made the relationship difficult the whole time oh so why they do that oh i don't know well i could tell you i could tell you one reason always thinking the grass is green on the other side or there are better options i think social media has everyone's mind uh misconfigured as if there's better out there hey man ain't nothing outside it it just ain't you know if you look at every situation every situation is different it just i don't know i i have no idea ain't nothing outside i mean it's a little it's a little fun a little temporary
47:37Chad Johnson:fun that's about it they started to think sometimes uncle ocho like and i was bad back then you know I apologize, I ain't, you know. It too damn late. It's over with. Yeah, yeah, it's a wrap. I don't know why, man, I don't know why. Yeah.
47:56Shannon Sharpe:Big three. Big three, who do you have winning the WNBA playoffs this year? It's very star driven. Bro, if I had to put any money down on it, I'm putting it down on Minnesota.
48:07Chad Johnson:You putting it on Minnesota?
48:08Shannon Sharpe:You putting it on Minnesota. The spectacle, she like that.
48:12Chad Johnson:But you know what? Not only is she like that, it's some other girls around her. You know what I mean? Like, they got a complete team, Ocho. Yeah, Pete. Caleb McBride. Since Pete came back, they've been a different team now. They did just take a nice L the other day against the Valkyries. The Valkyries. Yeah, they got the Valkyries.
48:33Shannon Sharpe:Valkyries got a great defensive team. They do, man.
48:35Chad Johnson:This thing wide open as far as, like, when the playoffs start, like, it's some teams that might be a little ahead of others, but, man, them girls out there are balling, bro.
48:45Shannon Sharpe:And the thing is, you must try to get somebody knocked off. But you're right. I mean, you look at Asia Wilson. You look at Kaitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell. You look at Paige Beckers. You look at the spectacle, Olivia Miles, Angel Reese. Oh, my God. Yeah, she is. Howard, Ryan Howard, Alicia Gray. Man, this thing is going to be – Woo. Hello. So you don't think the Aces are going to win it again? They can't, man. They're going to need somebody to get the Minnesota Lynx out the way. You still got Stewie. You still got Stewie doing her thing. Jonquil Jones, Inescu.
49:23Chad Johnson:It's just tough, man, because they no longer are like – I don't think they no longer like the upper echelon cream of the crop. Like it's other teams that's up there with them now. You know, the parity in the WNBA is so great. I'm talking about probably a couple years ago, you could probably predict who's going to win. Now, it's – oh, man, there's some teams out there that can go. And it's a situation where the Aces got to play –
49:56Shannon Sharpe:they need Chelsea and Jackie to play great because I already know what I'm going to get from Asia. Yes. I'm not even concerned about that. I know what I'm going to get. I'm going to get 25 and 10, probably two blocks of steel and three to four assists. I already know I'm going to get that. That's on a bad night. A good night, she'll give me 32, 13, and five. I need Jackie or Chelsea to give me another 20 every night and the other to give me somewhere 15 to 20. Because that's what it's going to take. That's what it's going to take. I agree. Because they're going to do a great job. The Lynx do a great job.
50:30Shannon Sharpe:They double her. They got guys that feet as an outstanding defender. They got guys that can cause a problem.
50:41Shannon Sharpe:So, but I'm rooting for the aces.
50:45Chad Johnson:All right.
50:47Shannon Sharpe:Ocho calling you a pup, Iso.
50:49Chad Johnson:Huh?
50:52Shannon Sharpe:He said he calling you a pup on the basketball court.
50:54Chad Johnson:I really don't do a whole lot of talking chat. You know what I mean? Like, you know, this job has been new for me. You know what I mean? I like the show. I'm going to step up to the plate. I'm going to show you what I'm talking about, man. I ain't going to do all this tongue wrestling with you. These two dudes already know how I come when I show up. They know when I show up, but I don't play no silly games. Hey, Joe, I'm going to just tell you good luck, bro. Because you're going to need it. I ain't really worth the tongue wrestling either, Joe. Okay.
51:31Shannon Sharpe:uh daryl nick has said i bought a laporte hall of fame edition took my last drink tonight before eating that thing i had a crawling military style oh two advice work see see oh you hey military style yeah hey don't don't forget you what you can do get that leash so when she get the crawling, you pull it right back to you. Uh-uh. Don't run. Yes, sir.
52:03Shannon Sharpe:Watson is not playing football to win. He's playing for the contract. He's not there mentally. You can see it. Can't fix his mentality. What's that smell? Roadkill. Poor Browns fan. I see why they boycott.
52:16Chad Johnson:Ooh. Unfortunate.
52:20Shannon Sharpe:Me, I do think Deshaun wants to win. I just think that was a huge mental hurdle that he has to get over. That's asking a lot. I don't know. Ocho Joe, I don't know if we've had anybody in the history of the game that's been asked to get over what he's been asked to get over, to put what he's been able to have to put behind every single week, to put that behind him and go out there and play at an elite level. I don't know if we've had that in a very, very long time. No, it's been a while. Listen, he got a lot on his plate, huh? He got a lot on his plate. Absolutely. And for him, he has to be the best person this football season compartmentalizing, blocking everything out, and focusing on football.
53:00Yes, you have fans that don't like you. You've got to block that out. You've got to block that out. Once you get on that field, your teammates have got to be there to support you. And all you can worry about is pleasing your teammates in that franchise and everything else to take care of itself if you play winning football. That's all you need to worry about.
53:18Shannon Sharpe:Charlie Dale 33 wants to know Ocho start bench cut Big Ben Eli Manning Phillip Rivers all of those guys from the 2004 NFL draft That's a good one. I'm gonna go Big Ben first obviously start big man ship. Yeah Phillip Rivers and who Eli I'm going in Eli and then I got it. I got a cut What you got, Joe? You got Big Ben, Eli Manning, Phillip Rivers. Start, bench, cut.
53:57Chad Johnson:I'm going to go Eli, Ben, Phillip.
54:05Shannon Sharpe:What's up, Big Three? Even if Watson gets benched, I don't think the Browns fully believe in Shadour. If he struggles, I think they'll draft another quarterback. They're absolutely going to draft a quarterback. because I don't think I mean like I said we weren't there in practice but it's hard for me to see that Deshaun Watson from what I saw in the game is exponentially better than Shadour right
54:28Chad Johnson:yeah the game wouldn't matter and for them to start the game wouldn't matter ain't it
54:36Shannon Sharpe:considering they say practice and how he got in and out of the huddle and what he did against in OTAs and mini camps and training camps so I don't know
54:48Chad Johnson:only time gonna tell
54:51Shannon Sharpe:only time will tell
54:56Shannon Sharpe:nightcap team what's your three favorite football movies
55:01Chad Johnson:what you call them got to be up there Willie Beeman any given Sunday that's a good one any given Sunday I think that's a bill.
55:13Shannon Sharpe:Remember the Titans, Any Given Sunday, and Bobby Luce, Waterboy. My first one is Rudy. Rudy, Rudy. Rudy's my first one. Then Remember the Titans, absolute classic. And my third, I got to go to Waterboy.
55:31Chad Johnson:You ain't got Any Given Sunday on there? Damn. Nah. Nah. It was good, though. That speech from Al Pacino was delightful, boy.
55:47Shannon Sharpe:Mamba fan 0824 say, that's why his ass can't see now. Talking about you, Ocho.
55:52Chad Johnson:What's that?
55:54Shannon Sharpe:Why I can't see? Put your eyes where it ain't supposed to be.
55:57Chad Johnson:There you go. I can see just fine. I can see just fine. Get that residue in there. Make you go blind, boy.
56:07That's a good one.
56:11Shannon Sharpe:That's what you did, Ocho.
