Key claims
- Kenny Smith argues Mark Jackson “saved” Steph Curry’s career by keeping him from being traded and enabling Curry’s fourth-quarter role; Jackson also “saved the league” and changed basketball culture.
- Mark Jackson’s coaching impact is credited for the Warriors’ core (Clay, Draymond, Steph) and the dynasty’s toughness/teamwork.
- Phil Handy is hired by the 76ers; his development work is expected to elevate players’ skills (ballhandling, shooting, footwork, pace changes).
Notable examples
- Warriors: Curry’s early fourth-quarter limitation; Jackson’s arrival.
- 76ers: Handy’s prior roles with Nick Nurse (2019 title), LeBron’s Lakers/Cavaliers, and development work with players like Austin Reaves.
- NFL: Debates on team expectations (AFC North, Lamar, “greatest offense” talk) and why Jonathan Taylor gets less respect.

2:35Shannon Sharpe:Kenny Smith says Mark Jackson saved Steph Curry's career with the Warriors and the NBA. Steph Curry, before he got there, did not play the fourth quarter of a game. They used to play Monte Ellis, and they would say Steph could not play in the fourth quarter because defensively he could not handle that. He was going to get traded until Mark Jackson got there. He saved not only the franchise, he saved the league. You think of Steph Curry saved basketball by making this dude and allowing him to be who he was. He saved basketball and changed the culture of the way we play games today based on the way Steph plays.
3:05Shannon Sharpe:Someone had to have a vision to allow him to have that happen. He was the vision.
3:11Chad Johnson:I agree. I agree. I think Mark Jackson played a huge pivotal role in the Warriors having that core group with Clay, Draymond, Steph. he kind of molded those guys, Uncle Ocho. It's almost like somebody going to the damn casino, warming up their damn slot machine, then Steve Kirk come and he hit the damn jackpot. Yep. You know what I mean? Don't want four titles. You know what I mean? Going to the Hall of Fame as a coach. Wow, man. I think Mark Jackson played a huge role in that dynasty and what they was able to do. I agree.
3:46Shannon Sharpe:They admit it. I mean, you hear Draymond, you hear Clay, you hear Steph. the toughness that he instilled in them. Yeah. The teamwork, the camaraderie. Yeah. I just hate that he hadn't, you know, I'm glad Jet said this. I just don't know why the man hadn't got a chance. I mean, you see somebody come out and speak so glowingly about him, and then for whatever reason the NBA has turned his back on him. I don't know everything. You hear certain things. I don't know what's true and not what is true and what isn't true. So I don't even feel comfortable speaking on what some of the things that people are saying.
4:22Shannon Sharpe:But I do know this. He's a hell of a basketball coach. He was a hell of a basketball player. He has a great mind for the game. He can speak the game. I love to hear him talk. Actually, I sat down with Jack, and he just – you know, some people just got a mind for basketball, Joe. Yeah, yeah. And he won over. And he has a mind for basketball. So the way he looks at the game, you can tell guys that have very, very high IQs on how they talk about the game. I had a conference. I used to sit down and talk to Isaiah a lot. I love Zeke. Hey, Zeke, you know you promised us that you were going to come on.
4:57Shannon Sharpe:So, you know. I know he'll come on. Oh, yeah. Yeah.
5:01Chad Johnson:Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. I agree with you. Mark Jackson is a hell of a coach, was a hell of a coach. I don't understand why he hadn't gotten an opportunity neither, Ocho. But when you look at it, I honestly think he's probably a better analyst than he is. He is a hell of an analyst, bro. I'm talking about the way he breaks the game down, you know, mid-game, the way he talks about it. I enjoy watching him. I enjoy watching him when he's a commentator of games. He hadn't been doing – he hadn't done that in a few – some odd years neither.
5:33Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, because Richard Jefferson took – J.J. – first of all, it was Doris Burke and Richard Jefferson. and not, no, was it? Yeah, yeah, Doris Burke and Richard Jefferson took over him the first year, and now it's, what's the guy, Legs, Tim Legler, Richard Jefferson, and Mike Breen.
5:50Chad Johnson:Yeah, so hopefully, even if he don't get a coaching job, which is kind of baffling because it's like, M, how you help put together that whole Golden State roster with Hall of Famers, and you mean to tell me, man, that man don't get the chance to coach nowhere else? Hell, I ain't even seen him analyzing games lately, so it lets me know it's something deeper than what we obviously can see.
6:14Shannon Sharpe:The thing is, they were two places they play games. They play games on Amazon and they play games on ESPN. Oh, NBC. I definitely thought NBC would give them a call, but hey, they went with the young guys. I might see a clip of Crawford, Jamal Crawford. I think he do an unbelievable job. Yeah, he do.
6:37Chad Johnson:He do. Him and Reggie Miller. I think he does an unbelievable job. Yeah, they do. Jamal is great. Very charismatic guy. I played with him a couple years here in Atlanta when he came and played with us for the Hawks. This is perfect for him, bro. This is what he thoroughly enjoys doing. And you can tell when you watch him analyze the game, bro. He really breaks down the game the right way, speaking in Jamal Crawford. So I know he got a bright future in this, but he wants to coach. Okay, Ocho. he want to be a head coach someday in the NBA.
7:06Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Yeah. Well, Steve Kerr became a head coach, and he was a manager. He was an analyst. He became a head coach. So anything – J.J. Reddick became a head coach. He was working at first take. But – ESPN, so it's possible.
7:22Chad Johnson:These jobs will come available. You just have to be precise in the ones that you take. You know what I mean? Because some of these jobs – Here, you set up for failure, man. Let's just keep it 100. it and then you got some obviously like steve kerr took over for mark jackson damn you you're taking over a dynasty already maybe you didn't know it but he had a system the way it worked for those guys and they were able to win four titles so there are situations that happen like that bro so if you're patient enough you get an opportunity a good one too yeah but we really
7:55Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I think the thing is, I hope – look, I think Rondo would be a hell of a head coach. I think he'd be a hell of a head coach. Because anytime – when they talk about basketball IQ, they say LeBron, Rondo. Rondo, LeBron. Rondo is right there with LeBron. Blah, blah, blah, so forth and so on. So I want to see him get an opportunity. I think he'd be a heck of a head coach.
8:20Chad Johnson:I agree. I thought he would have got that Pelicans job, but sometimes, man, if it ain't your time, it ain't your time. You just got to continue to be patient, continue to put the work in. I'll tell you another name. I like Rondo, too, even Chris Paul, from what he does with the AAU, the EYBL team. Huh? You think he wants to be a coach? I'm sure he would. I'm sure he would. I'm sure he would. It's just in them point guards, bro. A lot of them, they have that leadership mentality to where, well, I can lead these guys in the right direction. You know what I mean? That's why you see a lot of these point guards get these head coaching jobs.
9:00Chad Johnson:You know what I mean? Like, you look at Steve Nash, who never had a head coaching job anywhere, but because he was a two-time MVP, he got the Brooklyn job when they had Kyrie and KD. Jason Kidd? Yeah, Jason Kidd. I had just competed against Jason Kidd the year before. When he was playing for the Knicks, I was playing for the Nets. Like, we had a hell of a rivalry. Then he come over the following year, Ocho. Now he coaching us. You know what I mean? I thought that was one of the greatest seasons that we had, considering the fact that we all knew J.K. He played with J.K. in all-star games. He was a great players coach.
9:38Chad Johnson:He kind of understood because he had just come from playing the game. And he gave us a lot of leeway, bro. He knew he had guys who would, you know, go to bat for him. yeah but you know what i can see too uh uh i could see your old iso man's the head coach boy using coach iso joe johnson atlanta hawks you can see that yeah but i can see it joe i can see i don't know sam casale is another one yeah you go he done been on the bench he done been on this
10:07Shannon Sharpe:bench a number of years been on doc's bench he's been on t lou's bench he's been on a lot of people's benches it's time for him to move to the front of the bench oh yeah his opportunity gonna come soon
10:16Chad Johnson:I probably say in the next year or two, he'll probably really, really get a chance to really coach a pretty good team. I think he's had opportunities, Uncle Ocho, but considering the teams that was probably offering him, he probably like, hell no, because in two years, y 'all going to be firing me.
10:32Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.
10:33Chad Johnson:Yeah, so that's how you got to look at it.
10:35Shannon Sharpe:Avery Johnson was a head coach.
10:37Chad Johnson:Yeah. That my guy, Avery Johnson?
10:39Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.
10:40Chad Johnson:He coached me in Brooklyn, Uncle Ocho, one of the funniest coaches I ever, but i'm talking about like he dead serious now he but he just naturally funny because the way he talks but he right he loves the game you talking about somebody who immersed into the game bro like when he talking to you he puts so much emphasis on everything hey joe i want you to get over there in the corner when that ball come to you don't waste no time don't worry about
11:07Shannon Sharpe:I'm passing with nobody though. You shoot that shot because I push you more than anybody else, Joe.
11:12Chad Johnson:Hey, hey, uh, uh.
11:14Shannon Sharpe:Late game situation. He be running for your mate. I'm telling you guys, listen to me now. Yeah, yeah, hey. What Pop told me when I played for Pop, Pop used to tell me all the time, you in charge out there.
11:25Chad Johnson:Yeah, come on. Yeah, hey, he come to me. He come to me late game situation. Hey, look, we're gonna run this play. When that ball touch your hands, I need you to get a bucket, okay? Yeah, I need you to.
11:38Shannon Sharpe:That's him, that's Avery.
11:40Chad Johnson:Great dude, I love Coach Avery Johnson, bro. He ain't take no crap though, Ocho. He was old school. You know, I can appreciate a good old school coach and say, I'm gonna do what I'm supposed to do. You hear me? But yeah, he kept it, he held everybody accountable, bro. Great, great dude, great coach.
11:59Shannon Sharpe:We see, that's how he, because he came up on the pop. You know pop gonna hold everybody accountable. If he hold Tim Duncan and David Robinson accountable, You best believe everybody else getting held accountable. Now, that cost him Kawhi. Yeah. But that's the only way he knew how to coach.
12:17Chad Johnson:Yep. His way or the highway, baby.
12:19Shannon Sharpe:That's it. Another big gift for the 76ers, Phil Handy. Phil Handy. I don't know, was he led out? He was bought out of his contract. He was at Dallas, and now he's headed to the Sixers. He's worked to Nick. He was on Nick Nurse staff when they won the championship in 2019. He was with LeBron with the Lakers. He was with LeBron with the Cavaliers. So there's some familiarity there. Great guy. Love Phil. I'm excited.
12:47Chad Johnson:Hey, hey, hey. And when we talk about development, okay, Ocho, Phil Handy has done that. You look at Austin Reed for the Lakers. Who Austin Reed was working with, okay, Ocho, them first couple years he was in the league. Phil Handy. Yes, sir. You know what I mean? He puts the time in. he puts the work in to to help these guys reach another level i i look i don't blame field hill i don't want out to philly too considering what they got out there i could go out there and put my little mark on the game and help these guys reach another level boy please and and he worked with what you call him help ruid with his shot there you go yeah yeah he held up a develop developer uh uh i see a lot of breakdowns with him and kyrie over the summer the way they work they do camp they a lot of camps he does a lot of teaching bro teaching the game showing these guys how to play the right way whether it's handling the ball shooting the ball getting the different spots you know playing at three four different speeds having a change of pace he has been probably the best at that so i i look for man philly trying to a a we talk about the hell the rams loading up philly loading up too not with this player that they can they getting coaches too
13:59Shannon Sharpe:That's going to be, hey, I'm happy for him. I'm happy. Yeah, he's nice. 6 '10 high school football wire receiver Mike Broxton has gone viral for tiring over his teammate last season. Check a look at these videos, Ocho and Joe. 6 '10? Damn. He got that two-on on it, man. Man.

15:35Shannon Sharpe:Drive him like a Hyundai.
15:44This is Matt Rogers from Las Culture East. That's with Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang. This is Bowen Yang from Las Culture East. That's with Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang. You know when people try on new food and suddenly it's like, wait. That's the reaction a lot of people are having when they first try Kewpie mayo. It's the one with the red cap and the little baby on the bottle. You've probably seen it in the grocery store before. And if you've ever just walked past it, some people would say that's a huge mistake. Because this mayo is different. Most mayonnaise uses whole eggs. Kewpie only uses egg yolks, which gives it this rich umami flavor.
16:18It's smoother, deeper, and almost buttery. Once people try it, they start putting it on everything. Egg sandwiches, fries, burgers. Some fans even swear by dipping pizza crust in it. And once you notice it, you start seeing it everywhere. Chefs use it. Restaurants use it. People who really care about flavor use it. Never tried it? Grab the bottle with the red cap next time you're at the store. Put it on just about anything. Then you'll understand. Kupi, the original Japanese mayonnaise. Didn't catch the latest Roland Martin Unfiltered podcast? Here's what you missed. And the argument is, do you want to win?
16:51If you don't win, you have no power. It's real. Those are the very people who I always say vote against their own economic interests, and they complain about the very thing they're receiving. It's raw. I knew that the issue of transgender athletes was not going well with a lot of black men. Roland Martin unfiltered. I went off. I said, this is exactly what I'm talking about. Yeah, the honey bun I do like that. Yeah, the honey bun I do like that. Yeah, he eat regular buns like that too, Ocho. Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. You got to chill. Listen, but on my PB &J, Ocho, I butter the toast, right? Boom. Hold on. Check me out. Just listen to me. I butter the toast. I throw that junk in the toaster for a little minute. I want my edges to be a little crisp, but I want the majority of it to be a little soft.
24:02Chad Johnson:You know what I mean? Then I apply that PB &J. Yeah. It got that little crunch. when you bite into it, you get that little crunch, that little soft crunch. I used to eat them before games, Ocho.
24:15Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, I need the carbs, I need the energy. You know, now they done did away with Ocho, you know, they got the crustables now that you got without the edge, without the crust. Yeah, yeah. But see, hey, Joe, I do mine different. Well, obviously my PB &J, I like it soft. Like, I like it soft, right? But what you just explained is when I go to Waffle House, I get the same thing every time. i get a sauce egg and cheese sandwich on raisin and it's toasted the exact weight the exact same way you just explained that after every show the people already be ready for my meal already be ready at waffle down the street everything yeah i i i've been you know i typically i've been to
24:53Chad Johnson:waff house a few times after we get off the show but mine don't consist in carbs it'd be six eggs uh three orders of chicken sausage you know i might throw a little swine in that but god damn Yeah, I need the protein. Three orders? Three orders, that's - Six eggs? Yeah. Okay. You getting ready to play me, huh? Man, you water on the bridge, homie. Yeah, talking about I'm getting ready to play. Man, water on the bridge. I ain't worried about that. It is what it is. Yeah.
25:26Shannon Sharpe:Nah, I don't eat no hot dogs. I'm good on the hot dogs, bro. Yo, you be hot dogs too?
25:34Chad Johnson:I ain't ate one in the minute, but I grew up on them hot dogs. Man, the birthday party, that was number one. You know what I'm saying? What? Hey, with pizza, hot dogs, and pizza. Man, what?
25:44Shannon Sharpe:That was them to go to. The only time we ate a pizza was at school. You ain't have no pizza at home. A birthday party up?
25:52Chad Johnson:You ain't have showbiz when you was at home?
25:54Shannon Sharpe:They was in Savannah. Ed was in Savannah.
25:56Chad Johnson:Boy, showbiz, we ain't gonna showbiz when you were little? We didn't have showbiz money. We had unemployed money, so you can't go to showbiz with unemployed money. Hey Joe, Chuck E. Cheese, I have the kids. Pizza, hot dog. Yeah, you going there, the little puppies come out, little Billy Bob, Billy Bob used to come out the big gorilla junk. Man, I should love showbiz when I was little. But we eat so much pizza till your damn stomach hurtin'.
26:25Shannon Sharpe:No, the only time we had pizza, the only time I ever had pizza growing up was at school. You get them little squares pizza. Them little square jokes. Hey, while you moonjabbed, them thing was banging though.
26:35Chad Johnson:Hey, hey, oh, oh, you said our kids come around, hey, you gonna eat your pizza today? You gonna eat -
26:39Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, sure did, man. And you know them white kids, they, oh, this is gross. Give me this. Let me get that on gross pizza.
26:51Yeah.
26:52Chad Johnson:Hey, back then, back then when you had them square pizzas, they had that white milk, that chocolate milk. Yeah, you had to drink one of them. Yeah.
27:01Shannon Sharpe:Boy, I'm talking about - And you get extra milk, when I was a kid, your extra milk cost you five cents. Yeah. That milk was like, back then, big, y 'all. But five cents, hey, 15 cents, get you three of them old chocolate milk. Back then, my stomach had old cast iron stomach. Wouldn't nothing bother, I don't know why. I don't know what happened. I don't know what happened to my stomach.
27:18Chad Johnson:Hey, you ain't lying, because, boy, when I was in elementary, boy I could drink three, four, five cartons of chocolate milk and be cool. Yes. Shane, I can still do it. Oh no sir, boy I got to be close to the house, I drink some chocolate milk.
27:33Shannon Sharpe:Thank you, that's the only time I drink milk, if I have surgery, you go to anesthesia, cause hey, man, I drink that chocolate milk, you know how to, hey, Joe you know how that water, you take over that new car, that water be coming out the tailpipe. That chocolate bill had clean like that right there. All chili clean. It's going to hit me like that at some point? Nah, not your stomach. You a gator.
28:03Shannon Sharpe:You don't know. See, gators don't get sick. That's why they live so long. They ain't got no natural predator. And once they get to a certain size, if a human don't kill them, they live to be 80, 90, 100 years old. Damn. Yeah, I like too much stuff that come with, you know, that where milk is involved. huh joe you know i obviously i get my cafe on leche when i'm at my cuban spot when i go to starbucks i always use whole milk you use whole milk when you go to when you go to the coffee joint
28:30Chad Johnson:oh yeah boy you got something like gorilla

28:48Shannon Sharpe:but I change with it.
28:49Chad Johnson:Hey, I tell you what, I eat some cereal, drink some milk, I need some alone time, okay? I don't need nobody to be around me, boy, this thing gonna be bubbling over here.
28:59Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. You sure? Anytime I eat anything cheese, I travel with lactate.
29:07Wait, Unc, you can't have cheese either?
29:09Shannon Sharpe:If I have lactate, I can. But just to eat cheese, like I know what I can eat, man, I just don't eat anything and you have to get on that plane? Oh, dude.
29:19Chad Johnson:Oh, that's the worst. Hey, I'll starve myself on the plane before I get on the – with a full stomach and this thing going to turn it and we up – Oh, man.
29:28Shannon Sharpe:I got –
29:30Chad Johnson:First off, it's already hard just to take a leak on the plane. Imagine trying to sit – man, hell no.
29:36Shannon Sharpe:I couldn't do it. I can't do it. I couldn't do it on the plane. I have never gone to the bathroom on the plane. Ain't going. You ain't never used –
29:44Chad Johnson:number two number two on the plane on the but yeah oh come on joe i told you joe man listen i told you this joke a good nasty hey joe joe on listen listen listen chat i know chat y 'all bougie man they have it there for a reason joe give yourself a two minute span joe give yourself a two minute span so you're getting in there fast they already have the toilet tissues to cover you ain't got to sit down joe all you got to do is squat you got squat get in there you close the bathroom in the face boom pants down boom just like this do what you need to do get that out of there oh joe hey hey joe listen to me joe take the toilet tissue you got to wrap it three times remember wrap it three times because they use they use one plaque in the in the in the in the in the Yeah.
30:33Airplane. Boom. Huh? Front to back. Rap it again. Come back. Front to back. You ain't got no wife. Do three times just to make sure you clean.
30:43Chad Johnson:Ocho. Ocho. Ocho. Just to take a leak, I got to stand there and damn near hip thrust, throw my hips up in front of me while my head leaning back. Thank you. I can't even get comfortable if I try to sit down and take a deuce on the plane. I can't get comfortable, bro. I'm going to need the door open. Joe, you don't sit down, I just told you squat.
31:07Joe, you got the squat. You can't, you change your - I can't do that, Ocho, I'm sorry, I can't do it.
31:13Chad Johnson:I'd rather get on the plane on an empty stomach than get on that fat fool. I'm gonna keep it real.
31:18Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Nah. So listen, you going from Atlanta to Vegas and you got to do a number two, what you gonna do?
31:25Chad Johnson:Boy, I'm gonna be asleep. What you talking about? I'm gonna be asleep. I don't stay up on them long flights, Ocho. I make sure when I get on there, I'm probably gonna sleep the first three hours. I'm gonna keep it real.
31:37Shannon Sharpe:Well, I ain't gotta worry about that because the first thing I do, I get up, I drink me about 10 ounces of warm water. Yeah, what'd that do?
31:44Chad Johnson:Y 'all gonna run it through him?
31:46Shannon Sharpe:What?
31:47Chad Johnson:You put a little lemon in there, you gonna put a little lemon in your warm water?
31:50Shannon Sharpe:Numb a little warm water.
31:52Chad Johnson:Yeah, it flushed.
31:52Shannon Sharpe:Hey, by the time I take a shower, be getting everything done, pack up my suitcase, by that time,
32:02Shannon Sharpe:hey, I always leave by 30,$40, cause I know he always look like I smashed the pumpkin.
32:10Shannon Sharpe:Hey, yo, I be good, I be good, ready to go. I be, yeah, be light. Yeah, man. Yeah. Mm-mm. Y 'all, hey, the stuff I see is normal, but y 'all, y 'all be chill. Because we're going to do something to play? Yeah, I mean, it ain't about the plane. It's anywhere in public. That's why they have public restrooms. That's called public restroom for a reason. Because you're in public and you're not home. I mean, why not use it if it's at your disposal?
32:39Chad Johnson:That's when you got to know your stomach, Ocho. I ain't eating. I'm telling you, I ain't going to eat nothing. They're going to have me having to go take a deuce. And I got a four and a half hour flight, bro. I'm sorry. I ain't.
32:52Shannon Sharpe:I got a Volo Modium. I got a Modium tablet. I got Maalox tablets and I got lactate. Hey boy, hey, y 'all tripping. I drank me a good old swig, I gave me a good old swig and I got ammonium. Yeah.
33:07Shannon Sharpe:So I'm gonna eat some cheese or something like that. I'm gonna have, what you call them, I'm gonna have a, take them lactate, get me two lactates.
33:14Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah.
33:15Shannon Sharpe:That'll hold your boy down. Y 'all tripping, bro. This joker be flying across country going to the bathroom on the plane. Absolutely Yeah I'm good I take your word for it I just can't do it Ocho Let's take a listen to our second one
33:36What's up Ocho What's up Iso Y 'all see I'm working the merch Working the merch Appreciate y 'all man All three y 'all man Big three shit man Y 'all keep doing y 'all thing man I just got a question though what are your expectations y 'all looking for from your teams from your respectful teams oh yeah i like that i'm gonna go first because my respectful team the way my quarterback been talking all off season is super bowl of bus boy joe and i'm a chat i'm just telling you the way joe been talking man i'm man you got to come out there man looking like goddamn superman Yeah. Huh? He putting too much of a target on him based on the words that he's saying.
34:23So now, not only that, now you got to go and back up everything you're saying. Now, can he do it? Yes, we've seen him do it. What makes it easy? His supporting cast that's around him. I'm hoping my young bull stay upright, you know, do what he do in that pocket, you know, little magic man, you know, little footwork. And he willing and dealing to chasing Higgins, man. That's it. And I hope that defense show up.
34:43Chad Johnson:Hey, what was that the Cowboys called themselves an offense? They call them the greatest what? The greatest offensive. Them pickings in C.D. Lamb. Greatest offense today. Yeah. Hey, listen. GOT? Yeah, GOT. I expect for us to be one of the top teams in the league this year. In all sincerity. I expect for us to be one of the top teams in the league and with Super Bowl aspiration. Yes, I do. Yes.
35:19Shannon Sharpe:Y 'all already know. We was in the AFC Championship game last year. We going to be right back there. You talking about the Broncos? For sure. What about the Ravens? What about the Ravens? We probably win that division. What division? AFC North.
35:40Shannon Sharpe:Man, you know what Lamar do to Ocho. You know what he do, man. You know what he do. You talk about the past. Why are you bringing the old stuff like Jose? You bring the old stuff like Jose. It's the new year. It's 2026. Everybody is 0-0. What you've done in the past, it holds no weight right now. None at all. Listen, I like Baltimore. I love Lamar. The city has been good to me. The fans of Baltimore have always been good to me. Hell, I've been good to them. But as far as that AFC North is concerned, whatever the record may be in the past has nothing to do with 2026 football season that starts in the half okay okay and I say that was nothing but love oh no they said the office is G O T I greatest office there is okay okay okay got it yeah I like it I mean I guess you're I best to dress the rag it with So what they going to call y 'all, Ocho?
36:41Shannon Sharpe:What they going to call the Rams? Because the Rams got a slouch offense. Hey, it's four teams. It's four teams in this NFL, right?
36:54Offenses, they can make up a name, and it makes sense. That's Cincinnati, that's Dallas, that's Seattle, and that's the Rams. And there's one more team that ain't too far. Wait a minute. You know what? I apologize, Detroit fans. Oh, yeah. I apologize to Detroit fans for leaving y 'all out.
37:12Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, because they get LaPorta back with J-Mo and Amon Ra with Gibbs. Nasty work. Nasty work. Let's take a listen to our last one.
37:28Freak one, freak two. Iso. What up, man? What up, man? Getting ready for this work day. So stay from Indianapolis, 317. I just got a question for you, man. Why don't Jonathan Taylor get the respect that he deserves? You know, that boy top three, top five running back. And y 'all be talking about, you know, Eric Henry, all of these folks, man.
37:51Chad Johnson:I gotta put some respect on my boy. That's because, hey. Wait, on who? Jonathan Taylor. That's because they don't value the running back no more. Wait, we did talk about Jonathan Taylor. He just got paid. He just got paid because he's a top three running back in the NFL.
38:06Shannon Sharpe:We listed Jim McGill, B. John Robinson, Christian McCaffrey, Jonathan Taylor, Derrick Henry, and Saquon. Those backs are the elite of the league. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. Those are your elite backs. We talk about it. Yeah. This is Matt Rogers from Lost Culture East. That's with Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang. This is Bowen Yang from Lost Culture East. That's with Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang. You know when people try on new food and suddenly it's like, wait. That's the reaction a lot of people are having when they first try Kewpie mayo. It's the one with the red cap and the little baby on the bottle.
38:39You've probably seen it in the grocery store before. And if you've ever just walked past it, some people would say that's a huge mistake. Because this mayo is different. Most mayonnaise uses whole eggs. Kewpie only uses egg yolks, which gives it this rich umami flavor. It's smoother, deeper, and almost buttery.
39:11Grab the bottle with the red cap next time you're at the store. Put it on just about anything. Then you'll understand. Cupid, the original Japanese mayonnaise. Listen to the Black Mother Wound podcast from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
43:18Shannon Sharpe:Absolutely. Here is the first running back to rush for 1 ,900 yards and didn't win the rushing title. Let that sink in. The man rushed for 1 ,900 and didn't win the rushing title. First time in NFL history somebody's rushed for 1 ,900 and didn't win the rushing title. Damn. That's why Sequoia went for 2 ,006. Oh.
43:37So.
43:40Shannon Sharpe:Sam Legrand said I bet they ain't saying Aaron Donald chasing the ring. Of course not. They like Aaron Donald. I mean, I just trying to figure out, I just figure out how people say LeBron was washed, and now he go to Philly, now he ring chasing. How you ring chasing if you washed? Oh, never mind. Don't worry about it.
44:02Chad Johnson:You know how they move the goalposts? It all depends on who it is. Damn.
44:10Shannon Sharpe:And I like AD too. I ain't got no problem with AD. I think he's phenomenal. He's been phenomenal since he's been in the league, a 10-time Pro Bowler, an 8-time first-team All-Pro. Only Lawrence Taylor can say that. But, no, they ain't going to say that. Yo, Ocho, Iso, back with another one start bench cut. Charles Wilson, Rod Wilson, Champ Bailey. I'm starting C. Wood. I'm starting Rod Wilson.
44:35Chad Johnson:And then you going Champ Bailey?
44:40Hey, Rod Wilson was so good, boy. And you know what? This is not fair when we chat. When y 'all give us these names like this, and you talk about the cream of the crop where regardless of who you pick, you can't go wrong. I don't like that. I don't like that. But for me, I'm going to go against, I'm obviously going to put the two that I've gone against. I understand the greatness that is Charles Woodson, but I got a chance to chase the face. Champ and Charles. I got a chance to face Charles Woodson. For me, I'm going to go, that's tough. I'm going to just go with Champ first and then C. Wood.
45:18Shannon Sharpe:Okay. Because I saw Champ more time than I saw Charles Woodson. And then I obviously, listen, Darren Woodson, I mean, Darren Woodson, Rob Woodson, as great as he was, I have no choice. That's not fair. Well, I was in the league. I got a chance to go against all of them. I was in the league with Woody, one defensive player of the year. He got some of the best hands I've ever seen for a guy. And people don't realize for his size, Rod ran 4-2-8 at like 210 pounds, 212 pounds. He was a world-class hurdler. I can't cut my homeboy, Champ from Charlton County. So we used to play each other. I didn't play him.
46:04Shannon Sharpe:Obviously, I'm much older than Champ. We didn't play him, but we used to play the school, Charlton County. So I'm going Rod, Champ. Sorry, Woody.
46:16Shannon Sharpe:damn
46:21Shannon Sharpe:Ocho what is the overall you giving Aaron Donald man 27 also why aren't not a 99 overall in man much love to the nightcap crew thanks I mean Aaron Donald coming back coming back two years removed from the game I'm not sure what the team over at EA is going to do I'm sure they're going to have conversations about it but when he left the game he was a 99 he was when he left the game
46:47Chad Johnson:he was a 99 so i had probably gonna bring that probably gonna bring it back at that position yeah that's way above my pay grade they probably gonna bring it back outro about a 93 and let him work his way back up yeah 93 that's high oh yeah yeah it is
47:06Shannon Sharpe:i don't know why i ain't no 99 overall in man
47:11Shannon Sharpe:I don't know about them. I...
47:15Chad Johnson:You never played video games coming up? We used to play...
47:20Shannon Sharpe:I used to play Joust, the little Pac-Man stuff.
47:23Chad Johnson:It just wasn't your thing, though?
47:26Shannon Sharpe:My attention span ain't that long. Hey, Joust, they was on Flamingos, right? What was they on? The Flamingos? I remember that. Joust was good. Damn. Rams doing all this just to lose the Dak in the NFC Championship game. Y 'all ain't been to the championship game. Y 'all, the Cowboys ain't been to the championship game in Dak lifetime.
47:46Chad Johnson:Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. Not too much, not too much, not too much, not too much, not too much, because there you go talk about old stuff again. Listen, the man said what he said, OK? We ain't study no damn Rams because they got Miles Garrett and Aaron Donald. Yeah, me, yeah.
48:02Shannon Sharpe:You know they listen to the show. Oh, they listen, they listen. Oh, my bad, OK.
48:06Chad Johnson:All right.
48:12Shannon Sharpe:I don't think the Rams offense can carry them this year. They need to be stout on defense. Matthew Stafford, MVP. Devontae Adams led the league in touchdown catches. Puka led the league in catches. And Kyron Williams ran for over 1 ,200. And you don't think they can?
48:28Chad Johnson:Nah, they're going to be serious now. They're going to be serious.
48:30Shannon Sharpe:I don't know what they're talking about. I don't know what Rams you're going to be talking about. You're going to be talking about the 70 Rams.
48:37Chad Johnson:They're going to be serious. He might probably talk about Colorado State.
48:41Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, he must be. That must be the Rams he's talking about. What up, Big 3? Ocho and Unc. Y 'all should come back and play for the Rams. This is going to be easy to get a ring this year. Easy ring. Stafford can get y 'all touchdowns. Nah, ain't no such thing as no easy ring, bro. You still got to run that gauntlet. You got to play 17 games. You got to avoid injuries. You got to play your best football every single week. Because although they're going to be going to a lot of these games, Ocho, as the more talented of the teams, but you have an off day and somebody tripped you up.
49:10Chad Johnson:And they're going to have a bullseye on their back every weekend, bro. They're going to get teams' best games. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Every time. You ain't going to catch nobody sleeping. They see the Rams come in town. Man, let me get some rest tonight. I can't wait to get up. Yeah, it's one of them. Hey, Joe, I seen Aaron Donald coming back, Joe. Shoot, man, I had to text the Bengals head coach. i take i take zach taylor i was like man but can i come out of retirement too i said i sent his response to man he put the laughing emoji and that was it that was that was funny you ain't coming out of retirement after no 15 years whoo you and i get out there and sauce these boys man you tripping them hamstrings and achilles go snap man man please tell tell tell pat certain get up get in front of me and watch what happen hey hey hey joe you remember how moses parted the red sea even though we never got a chance to see it i'm gonna show you what it looked like hey you calling out one of the best you calling out one of the best in the game man this me you get up there and bump and run and press if you want to what yeah okay there you go Denzel Ward Christian Gonzalez huh Trent McDuffie sauce Gardner hey Stingley man oh man oh man I mean I run through the guy I had him boy name
50:44Shannon Sharpe:in my locker joe joe he he he got i put my money on no show what's up for the time hey joe right now until i write it down and some of the words he didn't name joe everybody i just named right now all of them lassiter they can get their work tarik woolen you want spoon too huh man spoon when i'm done with him he gonna be a fork Huh? Joe, I'm telling you, man, he boy, man, Joe, I'm telling you, boy, I'm telling you, boy. I ain't lose nothing but opportunity, boy. Yeah. All right, so what's the best in-game dunk you saw while playing? Uncle Ocho, how about a touchdown you remember? Love the three of the Migos.
51:33Shannon Sharpe:Best in-game dunk? Bro, I had the pleasure to play with Amari Stoudemire.
51:40Chad Johnson:He just went to the Hall of Fame this year, Uncle Ocho. him hey man you talking about a guy who came straight out of high school and when he touched to when he touched the grounds in phoenix i'm i'm just keeping it 100 bro i've never seen a guy he don't have a play mode in his game meaning like if we all were playing 21 you know we could casually play have fun that man straight on goal you know i mean and i thought when I used to see him in the summer league before his first NBA game I swear he was dominating the summer league okay Ocho I'm talking about dunking on cats left and right I'm like damn I'm thinking to myself because he asked me after one summer league game he said he said hey Jay it's gonna be this easy when the season starts I said hell no boy that boy gonna be on you you hear me they ain't gonna let you breathe man the season started man was dunking on with everybody who was in his damn way.
52:37Chad Johnson:Do you hear me? I'm talking about if you was in his runway, boy, you caught it.
