In short
Track and field conversation with athlete Melissa Jefferson-Wooden (MJ) about her 100m/200m performances, race strategy through rounds, and planning for the 2027–2028 Olympic cycle; plus host banter and sports segments.
Guests
Melissa Jefferson-Wooden, elite American sprinter specializing in the 100m and 200m; hosts include MJ (interviewer) and co-hosts “Ocho” and “Joe” (plus additional recurring segments with “Coach Prime” clips and PrizePicks/Q&A).
Guest background
Jefferson-Wooden is a double-gold medal sprinter who has run extremely fast times including 100m around 10.61–10.62 and 200m around 21.47, and she discusses being disciplined, strategic, and limiting wear-and-tear (only ~12 races in the year).
Key claims
- She believes world-record potential depends on conditions (e.g., needing favorable tailwind).
- She intentionally skipped the Diamond League final to train and fix issues before Budapest.
- For the 200m, she “backs off” in earlier rounds to preserve legs for the final, using a “bigger picture” approach.
- She plans to be strategic for 2027/2028 given the short turnaround from World Championships (September) to Olympic trials (June).
Notable examples
- Zurich 100m: she says she won with a time around 10.62 after being surprised by the clock.
- Budapest 200m: she describes executing after a semifinal/heat lane draft.
- Historical comparisons: mentions Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce’s 10.6 consistency and the U.S. women’s Olympic sprint history (1984, etc.).

2:46Shannon Sharpe:Welcome to the show. MJ! Hey, MJ. Hey, she probably, are you on mute? Can you hear me? Oh, okay. We got the ultimate champion, double gold medal, with a winning time of 1062 in the 100 meters, 2147 in the 200 meters, into a negative.6 headwind. Yeah. If you flip that around, get the.06 out of back, that's 21 low, that's 23, 21. I don't know. We might be talking about the world record, MJ. Hey, what's going on? Welcome to the show. How's it going? I'm doing great. How surprised were you that you ran that fast? I don't think you're really shocked that you won the race, but I'm thinking you were shocked with how fast you ran the race.
3:32No, definitely. I was like, once I crossed the line and I saw that time, I was like, oh, wow. Did not think that was going to happen that day. but it's
3:44Shannon Sharpe:look and we talked about this last year at the world championship when you ran that 1061 and you keep look you keep getting the right people in the race but you keep getting the wrong conditions for the damn race at some point in time we're going to have to get a plus tailwind to give us a little boost because there's no question in my mind I think it was negative 6 last time you ran the 1061 you get a plus 06 that's 1050 that might be even 10 who knows world record because we talked about this MJ I said if you get the the St. Lucian you get Julian Afrid you get Shaqari you get Clayton who has a great start that's gonna pull you out of the blocks with winner and you got Julian Afrid who that last 50 meters she's a beast she coming you know she's coming everybody else knows she coming we got world record potential what's going on with the conditions why we can't get favorable conditions no I don't know maybe he's being set up for like the right at the right time or something i don't know but okay because because you look at uh uh what was a couple of uh what was that in brussels that messiah ran the when ran the 1209 yeah and the hurdles okay yeah and i was like man well i ain't gonna lie because you hadn't lost a hundred meter race in over a year and then uh uh and then uh julian nip you at the line and I was thinking to myself I said I don't believe Julian could beat again I said I don't know what happened because normally once you get out the block I've never seen you get chased down now you've had some slow starts but now you're you're you're you're a good enough so you're a great starter you're Tia Tia Clayton she on another level I'm like damn if somebody pulling out the block what's going on with that yeah no it's very good it was like it was one of those where you kind of look at it and it's like okay I needed to lose the race in a sense because not that I was getting comfortable or anything but you know it really just explode it exposed uh some things that I needed to clean up within my own race so it was like better it happened now in Zurich where there's not a lot on the line versus it happening like two weeks later in uh in Budapest so you know that was probably the first race that I had that I had not came in first and I actually had a big smile across my face after the race was over because it was like, when you really look at it, I didn't lose by, I lost by like a couple thousandths of a second, so I'm like, oh, don't even worry about it.
6:12Oh, you
6:12Shannon Sharpe:like, yeah, yeah, oh, she you know, she happy, she celebrated, I got something for you, we're not$150 ,000 on the line, you're not going to be, because you're looking at it like 10 yards past the finish line, there's a check for$150 ,000 $1 ,000 and it got Melissa Jefferson Wood. It got my name on it. Hello. Ain't nobody gonna be Hey, you know what MJ? I also think about when you cross the line when you run these times and you cross the line and it surprises you once you see what the time is Do you think you're surprised because of the field that you're running against and you run those times?
6:49Or do you think your training regimen was a little different leading up to those races where you ran those excellent times? Um, I think it's a little bit of both because like all of the races that I'm in, right, they all high caliber, right? You, I can't be in any of these races and not be either close to 100 % or 100 % because at any given day, it could be anybody's race. so the fact that I you know come away from these races and you know I'm winning or I'm finishing second place or whatever the case may be like that's that says a lot to the you know the work that I'm putting in and like discipline and focus that I have towards each of these races so I feel like it's kind of something that goes hand in hand because then also to like looking after Zurich I decided not to run Diamond League final and I took that whole week like I went to Diamond League final but I wasn't running.
7:40I was just out there training. Everybody else was getting ready to run away that weekend. And I was just out there just enjoying myself, getting in good training. I knew exactly what I needed to work on going into Budapest. So it was like a time for me to just sit back and really examine everything and then be like, okay, when we get to Budapest, we know exactly what we need to do.
8:03Shannon Sharpe:hey after winning 100 meters how did you mentally reset and prepare you know to come back the very next day and dominate the 200 how did you mentally yeah so um when i got out there all i told myself was i just need to get through the semi-final so you know which that was a whole thing in itself like everybody was like oh my gosh so this year with uh the ultimate championship um the 200 meter women and men we got to pick our semi-final yeah and pick our and pick our lane so that's unheard of in track and field we don't get to do that it's normally like our agents doing that so when they had the lane draft the day of the red carpet or whatever uh i picked second and i picked after gabby thomas and i went in the same heat as her so everybody was like oh my gosh like she wants smoke right now.
8:51I'm like, oh, what is she doing? Yeah. So I'll say this. It didn't matter if like, if Gabby would have picked first. And so essentially how it happened, I was always going to pick heat one, whether she was in the first heat or not. Like I was always going to pick heat one because I had ran the day before and I was like, I just need more rest. So when I came out there that Sunday, it was kind of like, okay, I just need to get through the semifinal, you know execute the first half of the race back off chill out and you let it rip when the final
9:22Shannon Sharpe:is it's time to come so that's what i did that's exactly what you did what go ahead ocho what you want to ask you heard what you just said yeah back off and save some for the next race how do you balance how do you pick and choose when to turn it on and when to turn it off how do you do it depending on you know when you go through the rounds you go through the different heats how do you know when to tail off and when to go um well it's it's really like just looking bigger picture right you know at the end of the day if you want to be ultimate uh champion and not only the 100 and 200 like you got to be smart you got to be able to gain right so it's essentially it's chestnut checkers right so i could have easily gone out there and you know try to push all the way yeah i could have easily done that but it's like in the grand scheme of things that would have done nothing but hurt me because I already had two extra rounds in my legs whereas the women in the 200 necessarily didn't right so it was like okay which one's more important the final obviously so you know I did enough to make sure I was gonna get a good lane and it was like okay cool and then I got a good uh I got a good lane and with that everybody was in front of me too so I could see everybody that I needed to see in that race so it was like okay bet yeah because i think the thing is in the 200 you're like okay dennis is probably telling you let's get out to like 150 see where we are and then we can shut it down the 100 meters you're like look i know look ain't nobody gonna really see me i feel really good like you said it's all about it's all about preserving because a lot of times we've seen guys seen i've seen it so many times mj is that people get out and they run faster in the semifinals than they do in the finals yeah boy you you don't you don't blew your wine you blew your load in the semifinals the objective is to win it is and and a lot of people don't a lot of people don't understand that but i think they're getting a better understanding that now you see guys your top level guys uh uh uh that run and they like okay i'm gonna get out the first they say you run the 400 i'm gonna get out the first 300 look around see where i am and then i'm gonna jog i'm gonna Me and my brother was talking about this after you run because he called me on the phone and said, man, you see a Jefferson one?
11:39Shannon Sharpe:I said, yeah, I saw that. He said, man, you think she can hold it till 28? I said, look, this was supposed to be an off year. And she ran the time that she ran an off year. She's probably going to try to challenge for the world record in 27 because they got the real world championships and 27 leads into 28. So normally 26 is an even number year. It's an off year for track and field. that's why you don't see a lot of the big dogs necessarily compete but for 300 000 she said man yeah i'm gonna get all this now thanks i'm like okay i came on my first race of the year which crazy enough this is the latest i've ever started i started in june i had my first race in june i lost to julian in the 200 uh but i it was my fastest uh 200 meter opener ever right so it was like I was out here doing things I had never done before I never started that late um but I also never ran that fast uh for it to be my first race of the year and so like what I kept telling myself throughout the year is like okay yeah like you think this is an off year but it ain't these folks is out here running so you got to be ready to run too but the one thing that I am uh really happy for is like going to your question about you know am I going to be able to hold it uh until 2028 is that I didn't run only but 12 races this year so you know as as far as you know putting like a lot of um what's the word I'm looking for like yeah wear and tear on my body there isn't really a lot of that um and so then obviously going into 2027 and 2028 like the thing is going to be like you're probably going to see me do it a lot is how how I race or when I race whatever whatever the case may be like i'm gonna be very strategic and when i do that because at the end of the day like the goal all of this isn't for nothing right and so you know the hype of it is like yeah you want to go to china and defend your title and things like that but everybody's looking towards 28 right so finding a way to you know still do the things that i need to do in the year that's coming up but then also looking bigger picture to lock down the line of like what i do and what i don't need to do like i've already been thinking gear's been gear's been spinning because the last time the olympics were held on american soil 1984 we saw yeah the men and the women swept 100 and 200 flojo and carl lewis that's when flojo and flojo well flojo no flojo was sold my bad it was uh who was 84 84 was valerie briscoe hooks won the 200 and i think evelyn ashford 84 yeah yeah 84 but not in i think it was flojo flojo was in soul when she broke the world record 200 at 21 34.
14:26Shannon Sharpe:that was soul and she also won the 100. um but i know carl carl swept it and then we swept i think we swept uh what you call them too we swept it we swept we got one two three and the 200 in the men i know valerie because valerie did what michael johnson did in 96 won the 200 and the 400. She was the first to do it. And then Jose Perret did it. She did it in, did she do it in 96? I think she did it in 96 too. Or was it 2000? I think, well, in the 100, I know Gale won. Gale Devers won in 96. Gale won in 92. Gale won 92 in 96. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Because remember, she stumbled in the hurdles.
15:14Shannon Sharpe:She should have won both of them, and she clipped the last hurdle. And so that was in – 92 was in Barcelona. So I remember that. Linford Christie won the 100 in 92. Yeah. Yeah, he did. Yeah, he did. For the men. But I'm just – so when you say you're going to be very strategic about how you plan out 27 and 28, so are you going to be doing like choose one, like, okay, I run the 100, this time i'll run the 200 next time or you're not you're not gonna be looking at i mean because they don't really have the you're gonna be you're not gonna be looking to double in very many races uh no not really not a lot and so like one thing that we have talked about too so like if you're the reigning world champion you get the automatic buy to the next you get automatic yeah so like one thing that i've talked about doing is you know maybe um because at usa championships you You just have to show fitness in one of the races to be able to, you know, use your buy or whatever the case may be.
16:14So, like, I've thought about as far as like maybe running a round of each two of each one hundred and two hundred and then just doing that, like not even trying to like compete for a title or anything, but just, you know, to get that in my legs, to get the feeling of it and then go back on. But really just still looking just being smart because the turnaround time I'm going to have from world championships to when we when we're going to have to start training again. for the Olympic year is going to be really, really short because the World Championships is normally in September, whereas Olympic trials in 28 is going to be in June.
16:50So we've gotten on this track of being used to having our trials in like August or July. And so now it's going to shoot all the way back up to June. So that's going to change a lot of things too.
17:02Shannon Sharpe:Go ahead, Ocho. I'm looking up something right quick. It's the difference between trying to talk to your friends over the music at a bar and having dinner where you can actually hear each other. 20:39Shannon Sharpe:yeah emily nashford did win 100 meters in um in 1984 i thought she did i knew valerie briscoe that was the first time a woman had ever doubled and then marie jose peric has also done it so now what do we do we go back and get we go back to south carolina we get some oxtails some rice i mean what we do what we do listen i got a couple um i got a couple soul food spots now i got i'm going back to south carolina um next weekend i'm going to this uh to the rams versus giants game on monday it's gonna be fun um and then i'm gonna go and do a kids clinic back home in my hometown and then i'm gonna take a couple weeks to um before i get to the start of the launch of my nonprofit, The Village Initiative Incorporated.
21:23So we're going to have the launch coming up in October. And yeah, I'm excited. Busy, busy off season, but all good stuff.
21:32Shannon Sharpe:So how soon will you start preparing? Because you're not going to do the indoor season, right? No. Okay, so now how soon before you're done until January? I mean, what you're going to do? Do a couple of 400s? Just jog to keep your legs loose? So what do we do now? It's your off season. You're not going to do the indoor season. And what, what, I mean, what, April? April is when the outdoor season's to get out. Yeah, essentially. So what do you do between now and then? So we'll start, because I don't do indoor, like, and our coach, shout out to Dennis, he does a really good job of, like, giving our body actually a good amount of time to actually, like, rest and recover.
22:09So we won't start back fall training until November sometime, anywhere between the beginning to the middle or to the, like, the week of Thanksgiving. is when we'll start back training and things like that but yeah and then won't touch a because we always start off in the grass with fall training so we won't touch a track for sure probably until like new year's wow yep the prize money because that's always been the thing like man you know
22:38Shannon Sharpe:track and field athletes you know the money is not like it is in other sports and it's an individual sports it's a very very lonely sport yeah you have teammates but it's you versus the clock and it's not a whole lot of prize money, you know,$10 ,000 or$20 ,000 to the winners when you put all that training in. Because you're a professional. You don't have another job. It's not like I work at home, I got a$150 ,000 a year job at Home Depot or Lowe's or anything like that. You win, you make money. You don't win, you don't make money. It's not that complicated. No, not that complicated and very simple, very cutthroat at times.
23:19This is kind of like, well, that's and that's the other thing with it, too. Right. It's like the more you win, the the more opportunities you have. So like there are there are times in this sport where if you're not running fast, you you have either your agent asking people to let you in the meets. Whereas if you're running really fast or whatever the case may be, like you have meets that are actually inviting you to come and run at their meets and things like that. so yeah and pay so like literally essentially getting paid to show up so um like having a meet like this like the ultimate championship where you know essentially you run two rounds of one event and you get the chance to win 150 000 um and then so like for me i doubled right which is like okay if i'm doubling i'm going to go home like please
24:15Shannon Sharpe:I say, hey, you should have jumped in the bullhunter. Say, hey, let me try to get bullfitting. I understand Paulino, Madeline Paulino, you've been running as Nassar. I get all that. But I'm trying to get out all this. But I'm trying to get to the state. And then that was a good thing about it, too. Like, even down to – because they take the top 16 world ranked out of each event. So even if you came 16th, you still got a little bit of something. So you didn't leave empty-handed. Um, but you know, I say all the time, like it's a step in a good, it's a good step in the right direction. Obviously like our sports still have a lot of leaps and bounds that they need to make in order to be considered, um, like truly professional.
24:58And it's so crazy because like, when you look at it, a lot of times, like our sport is still considered an amateur sport. Right. And especially when it's looked at towards, um, the Olympic games and things like that, which is sus. Cause like you said, we put in so much work. We run these fast times. We, you know, try to get try to etch our name in history in some sense and run all of these fast times. And sometimes it's still not seen as enough or it's just seems as like, you know, you're supposed to do that. And, oh, well, you'll just continue to do the same things over and over again. But it's like, no, you know, eventually we're we should get to the point to where, you know, we're kind of sick and tired of things being the same.
25:36um and so i feel like some people in our sport are starting to get that feel of like you know the athletes really aren't going for that anymore or whatever the case may be um and so like when there are new things that come about you know like i'm open to it and things like that as long as it makes sense as long as it's something that you know is not only going to benefit me but benefit the sport as a whole and you know the other thing that sucks about our sport too is that our our community is so small, right? So any little thing, and you have these people who have, sometimes you have people who've been in the sport for so long, so they don't want to necessarily see a change or, you know, they're holding on to what things used to be like and things like that.
26:18So you have this like tug and pull of, you know, where the sport should be going versus where it is. So, you know, hopefully, hopefully I can be a part of that, you know, change and, you know, getting it to where it needs to be a little bit piece by piece, but getting there.
26:34Shannon Sharpe:A few more questions, MJ. When you look at Jacoby Tharps won 1275 in the men's 110, you see Masai Russell go 1209. You see Kevin Chenippi go 4339. And you see Oghazi go 4338. You see two world record broken. I think somebody broke the mile. I think Josh Kerr broke the mile world record. He says he's going to challenge the 1500 meter world record held by Hakam Elgarouche. when you see all these world records falling you like let me see here what do I have up my sleeve listen so uh when I was when I was in college me and my husband at the time well we will always do this thing to where like we'll say crazy things like oh you know maybe if you just you know run 10-7 or you know run 10-6 or something and then we'll just laugh it off right so now we've gotten to the point to where he'd be like you know if you just go out there and run 10 37 or something like that you know and i'm like yeah you know maybe maybe so maybe i might try to do that or something like that but you know like you said like hearing all of those things and knowing that it is possible like records that are that have been out there for years um that have now fallen i was at the race or i was at the meet where um masai broke the 100 meter hurdle record and then alison dos santos he broke the 400 meter world record in the same meet and you know I know both of them on a personal level and I know how hard they work so you know to see them do that it just does nothing but excite me not only for them but you know just to see like like our sport still has a lot of good things that can come out of it like our sport isn't dying the way that it may feel like sometimes or whatever the case may be but like seeing all of those things fall like I'm like I really do hope I hope and pray that I'm one of the ones to do it next right right i'm not gonna lie i i didn't think in my lifetime i would see somebody get close to a flow joke but we've seen uh uh uh elaine thompson um we've seen her go 1054 the 1049 is the record in 100 meters we saw uh sharika jackson uh what she go 21 41 um and and the record is 21 33 21 34 so you're close now i don't know if this might be too far in advance but in 2029 the world championships in nairobi altitude 6 000 we know the world records that were broken in mexico city in 1968 people were leaping out of the pit bob beeman go 22 the legendary kip kino uh uh what's the guy's name to run the 400 meter hurdles lee evans senior set the world record in the i mean are you are you trying to wait that long you say nah i'm trying to get 27 i'm trying to get me a world record listen um i'm trying to just i'm trying to just get it done and over with that i feel like that way is like i mean if it happens if it happens twice so be it but you know um it's so crazy because like i'd be seeing some of the comments and stuff on twitter now and i'm back on there so when they announced that it was going to be in uh nairobi somebody was like this gonna be mjw coming through the line at 10 39 at altitude whatever the case may be and i'm It just makes me smile to know that some people out there really think that I can achieve it or whatever the case may be.
29:59But it's also just a testament of the hard work that I've been putting in, and it's actually starting to show. So it makes me know that I'm doing something right.
30:09Shannon Sharpe:There have not been very many women, MJ, that's run 1061, followed up with a win legal 1062, and the negative headwinds, and you run 2147. seven. There haven't been very many women to be to say, I've done that. You've done that. And you started the season because my brother was talking. He's like, bro, she's starting the season running 1079. Where the hell she goes from here? You don't start the season with 1079. You start the season with 1090. You don't start the season with the time that you started the season. You're one of the greats. Your career is far from over. We hope you got another at bare minimum another three years because i would love to see you running thank you but where would you where would you rank yourself now as far as women hundred you know great women american sprinters where would you put um well i mean right now like see me too i'm also like a a stats person and i don't give myself as much credit as i do most of the time but i would i would say that you know where I am right now like I'm sitting right behind I'm sitting right behind Shelly when it comes to the hundred um because obviously too like she still had that she had that season where she went 10-6 all year every race that she ran she went 10-6 like that that is something that's like nobody's ever done right and so you know I've had some of my own success in that way and in a different way like I went undefeated all of last year or whatever the case may be and you know I've I think I'm the only person other than Shelly now who's ran 10-6 in back-to-back seasons.

31:48So, you know, like when you start to put those types of things into perspective, I think I'm getting there. I think the only thing now that'll kind of like make me want to push myself above a Shelly or an Elaine at this point would be Olympic gold. Right. You know, getting getting that. I think I think right now that's the that's the big goal. on the list you know because the one thing about it is too is like i've never been one to really really really focus on time you know i'm all about how i execute my race and you know i feel like or i know that if i execute my race the way that i need to then the time will come so um yeah i feel like right now i'm about i'm i'm behind shelly yeah i was about to say i think she's the greatest
32:34Shannon Sharpe:woman sprint of all times based on the olympic gold medal she's won back to back and forth and I think you look at Elaine Thompson, she's right there. But when you look at Shellyann and you look at what she was able to do, the big global meets, the Mommy Rocket showed up. The world championships, if there was a big meet, and big meets, the global meets, the world championships in the Olympics, Shellyann Frazier-Price did not disappoint. Absolutely. And I think that's the greatest thing you can say about an athlete is that when the money was shoved to the middle of the table, she came up big time and such a long career she was still i mean at her age she was still running 10.7 yes and that was the other thing too it's like she ran she ran 10.6 that was on the back end of her career and after she had a after she had a child like insane mind-boggling are you getting some ideas are you trying to get some ideas mj what you trying to say no no however but the studies have shown though once once uh once women have babies they get superpowers so you know wow i i ain't gonna say something but there was there was there was with i'll talk i'll talk about that with you guys after you get up there because i don't want i don't want you to get involved up with what ocho and joe and i gonna be talking about but but but i've heard i've heard i've heard i've heard man mj thank you so much for joining us we really really appreciate you We love having you on the show.

37:36Shannon Sharpe:I don't know if it was reported. I think it was the East Germans that the women were getting pregnant and then they would abort the child. I mean, you have to go back and read the studies. What? Because they say after women have the kid, they become stronger. Wow. That's what I'm just saying. If you go back and read the report, I don't know if it was the East Germans or I know if it was the Russian, but allegedly that's what they were doing because they had this big doping thing. Because the East Germans and the Russians, they were just blowing it away. I mean, look at the times. Look at the times.
38:08Shannon Sharpe:Look who got the records. Maddalena Coat, 47-60. Nobody had even come close to that until sitting in the World Championship last year, ran 47-78. Look at Kretchen Belova. That 153. Look how long she's been there. Prior to that, there's not going to be two women ever go under 48. That was back in the 80s. These ladies wasn't even born then. Look at the times that they were running. Look at the shot put. Ain't nobody going to break that woman's shot put. Look at the record of them women sitting. What they was running. Man, they need to get out of here with this. They need to get out of here with this.
38:45Shannon Sharpe:But, no, you need to – guys, read that report. I mean, it's probably not something that really interests y 'all, but I was interested in – I love track and field. You can tell how excited I get when I talk track and field and talk to those athletes because that's my favorite sport. That's the only sport that I'll listen to with sound. No other sport that I listen to with sound. I don't give it down if it's bull riding, football, basketball, tennis. I don't care about none of that. Damn. Hey. Track and field. I could tell. Hell, I don't think me and Ocho got a damn question in. I had a few questions.
39:16Shannon Sharpe:I wanted to ask a couple questions. Damn, I ain't get one question in, Melissa. You got the question. You asked the question. Hey, Joe. What's up? I got my question in early. I know I get it when it come to track. You see how you do when it come to track? Yeah, yeah. That's Ocho and soccer. Hey, soccer. When we talk soccer, we talk boxing. Yeah. Hey, Joe, I'm finna take over, Joe. Yeah. Oh, yeah. I get excited. I wish we could get Ronaldo and Messi on here. Oh, man. All right now, boy, you talking something different now. Hey, that's... Hey, listen, we get Ronaldo and Messi on here. Hey, what'd you say?
39:5810 million subscribers get you what? Diamond. Damn. We'll be diamond the next day if they come on here. We'll be diamond that night.

Well, I'm excited. You got the dog some toes? You get the first look, the first peek. You got to wrap it up like that gift. It is.
40:41oh my god that's a nice toenail we had the old video that's nice
40:53this is hilarious shallow would be screaming right now
41:00I like that.
41:02Shannon Sharpe:All right, now we have to learn how to put it on. Yeah. Wow. Yeah. Now I got to get those straightened out. That's crazy. I'm 10 toes down again. He banging the game. The other toes are saying, what a story. We'll straighten those up. Wow. That's a surgery though. Okay. I see you Prime. Hey Prime, when you see this, now you got 10 toes. Now we can line it up. Huh? We can line it up. Well, I like that. I like that man, congratulations on that man. Hey, that's dope, that's dope. Boy, can't they do, look at Madison. Look at where the guard is putting these dogs in, got his foot looking just like it was.
41:39Shannon Sharpe:He got 10 toes, I mean, think about that. Yeah. Hey, listen, hey, we can get to the moon, but we can do anything. Oh, for sure. For sure. Man, that was, Coach Price said he got 10 toes dialed again. We can't, we can't John, Coach Nobo. You got 10 toes for real. Nah, he locked back in, he back in. Hey, listen, he line up, man. I get that little thing fall right off, now he'll be back at eight. Aw, man, come on, chill, chill, chill. You gotta chill. Hey, now Coach can enter ass kicking contest. 42:58Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, more. I'm going more too. Hell, if Tyler Shook threw for 410, he should have at least 300. Josh Allen, fantasy score, he'll have more than 23 fantasy points. More or less than 23 fantasy points. More, more. I agree. Josh Allen,.5 touchdowns. He'll have more or less than.5 touchdowns. Come on, man. You know that man going to have more. Jared Goff 36 or more pass attempts more or less than 36 pass attempts that's a lot of pass attempts ain't it that is a lot of pass attempts you gotta answer this one I don't know I think I'm gonna go more for the simple fact I think they're gonna be behind he gonna have to he gonna have to throw it Jameer Gibbs .5 touchdowns he'll have more than less than.5 touchdowns Yeah, more.
43:57Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, he gonna have at least a touchdown. That boy, that boy dog, boy. Yeah. $25 to win$150. Download the app today. Use code Shannon to get$150 in lineups after you play your first$5 lineup and win. Prize picks.
44:17Shannon Sharpe:All right, it's time for our final segment of the evening. It's time for Q and A.
44:54Shannon Sharpe:We'll be right back. I saw a real brother the way he hopped up when Ocho got scooped. That joke was just there sitting there waiting on bud to slap him in 59 hundred to fall out his pocket. And you know, you know, Unc can't get up too fast now. Hell nah. Unc can't get up too fast. Joe, you were there, Joe. Hey, hey, could get what? You know why I was there? Cause I was thinking to myself, I'm the only one who could do Ocho ass like that. I ain't gonna let nobody else do you like that. Right, right, right. I ain't gonna let nobody else do you like that. Yeah. Yeah, I appreciate that. What you said about your co-host on Stephen A.
45:30Shannon Sharpe:Smith's show showed you was 100. You discussed loyalty over money and appreciation from the both of the co-hosts. Absolutely. I mean, look, we joke a lot, but we sincerely get along with each other. Yeah. We're a lot more similar than not. I had to keep these boys. Joy and I are a little bit more old school than Ocho. Yeah. But, no, we get along great. I mean, it's a great – And I think hopefully the chemistry comes through. You got an opportunity to see how well we interact with one another. We genuinely like hanging out with each other sometimes. Ocho want to hang out all the time. But, you know, hey, Ocho be wanting to party and you got to tell him no.
46:19Shannon Sharpe:Big three, what's up? With everything going on, Macklemore, Azizia here, and Cap with the Books Release Pro Celebs. how do you feel obligated to speak on issues when it could hurt your pocket? Well, that's a very fine line. And certain things, Ocho and I, we've just come to the conclusion that we agreed that we weren't going to talk about it. We got into a little trouble last year. We spoke about some issues and we don't want to call no names, but that's why sometimes we're not able to get some of the athletes that we would like to have because they're agents won't allow them to come on. So, it is what it is.
47:01Shannon Sharpe:But everybody got two eyes. Everybody can see what's going on. If you say something, they'll shut you out. Yep.
47:11Shannon Sharpe:All right, so, we've been hearing you hit the melodies in the black church. If you can sing, they calling you up. They called you up. What song would they make you sing, or what song did you sing?
47:26Shannon Sharpe:Man, they wouldn't call me up to do like a solo. My grandma know she knew better than that now. She ain't gonna call me up on no solo. But listen, when we up in that choir, my lips better be moving. I better be singing. She better hear something come out. You know what I'm saying? It was like that, bro. Cause I come, you know, she was the lead singer in the choir, Uncle Ocho. So you gotta think, bro, anybody under that. I mean, my grandpa was a deacon. He in the pool pit, he a usher. You know what I'm saying? Like we locked in. Boy, you gotta do something. You definitely gotta get up there and say that Easter speech.
48:00Shannon Sharpe:I don't care what happened. You gots to get up there and say that. Oh yeah, it was different, bro. It was different, but nah, I ain't had no solos, but I was up there singing, holding my own, bro. Yeah, you had to lead devotional service, say an Easter speech. You had to pray every now and then. You had to be a usher. You had to be, me and my brother was junior deacons. I was a junior deacon too, yeah. Del Toro 428i. Be careful. Your criticism might rub Deshaun the wrong way. I see what you did there. You see what he did there? Talk about rub Deshaun the wrong way. Del Toro, thank you, Smith. He's slick.
48:39Shannon Sharpe:He's slick. Hey, Ocho, we with you. We with you, real man. He isn't afraid to get a little blood on the sword. If you know, you know. But Sunday, your ass, the Bengals, taking that L. Hey, let me tell you something. I mean no disrespect. I'm sure we got a lot of Texas fans that's in the chat. I have nothing but respect for y 'all as fans. That's your team. And I'm coming here with respect. I'm a knock on your door. I'm a knock on your door. And when you let me in, I'm gonna be cordial. Long as you show me some hospitality, huh? But we going home with that W, you hear me? Okay. All right. Oh, it's just hard for me to believe they're gonna start the season 0-2 with both games at home.
49:20Shannon Sharpe:I just hopped out and two AFC losses. I don't see it. Let me tell you something, it ain't hard to believe. It ain't hard to believe. And if it's hard to believe, we gonna make a believe out of you. Oh, okay. Okay. All right. Okay. I don't know. Don't piss me off.
49:37Shannon Sharpe:Sam Legrand 89 said, if you ain't ready to run through a brick wall after the way up with preacher right now, that's that's that real cold channel. Hello. Hello.
49:50Shannon Sharpe:Jeff George never showed emotion on the field. Man.
50:00Shannon Sharpe:Philly talk with PA. That's why Jalen Hurts' QB won. Even killed through highs and lows. He absolutely is. Yeah. Yep. Brandon Martinez, 56-57. Unk talking like if the Broncos ain't going to go 0-6. Man, we ain't going to 0-6. We about to get off the snide this week. Who y 'all got, Unk? the Jags. Oh, I don't know. I don't know, bro. Hey, they, they, you, you just worry about it. Hey, I bet, I bet you won't start Trevor Lawrence over that. Who we play the commanders at home. No, I am not. Okay. I appreciate that. Oh, Joe ain't live. They call it CSI Miami day County. Yeah. Damn.
50:48Shannon Sharpe:if no playoffs is Herbert or head coach on the hot seat what happened to Jamar lines or bills and why what do the Cowboys need to do with fix ASAP Lamar MB three no I don't I don't I personally do not think Harbaugh would be on the hot seat I don't think Herbert is on the hot seat that's just me
51:15Shannon Sharpe:Bills, Lions or Bills? I'm taking the Bills at home. New stadium is going to be going crazy. Josh Allen is going to be Josh Allen. I don't know, man. It could go either way. They could throw a dud too, though. Woo! The Bills?
51:33Shannon Sharpe:All right.
51:37Shannon Sharpe:All right.
51:42Shannon Sharpe:Joe why you got that what you need to do fix ASAP Joe what the Cowboys need to do yeah man our defense got to be better guys our defense got to be better oh oh Joe I mean you can't now but it's different bro you can't let no one damn play go down you go right down the field and scope bro and in a pivotal moment like come on man we had so many turning points in that game they could have got us the ball back on offense defensively we just we got to be better gotta be better filter mcnasty question ocho said don't sleep on the jets is there another team we should not be sleeping on much love who y 'all like who should we be sleeping on i mean i only got the jets so far i mean the panthers and the bears gonna pick up where they left off last year i i just got the jets just just doing something that a lot of people wouldn't think because it's the Jets.
52:42Shannon Sharpe:I think for me, I think personally, I'm not going to be surprised if the Jags win that division this year. They just fell apart last year. Remember the Jags got out to a great start. And they just kind of fell apart. Yeah.
52:56Shannon Sharpe:Girls who love sport. Iso and Ocho. Those legs were looking nice in Vegas. My eyes were glued to the TV. that don't make me no bad sister, LOL. Oh, your turn. Love y 'all. Iso, don't trip. We still the boys. Man, I had on shorts when I was talking to Jocelyn Hernandez, Ocho, Joe. What happened, man? Man, she out to trade. Wait, you talking about Jocelyn, you talking about Jocelyn, the one from Miami? Yeah. Yes. Oh, wait, hey, what, Josh, boy? It was different, Ocho. Boy, she was the old one. She a trip, bro. Is she a trip? Ooh, Lord. She cut up? Did she?
53:48Shannon Sharpe:People asking me, talking about, man, how you let her wear that? What she got? Man, what I'm supposed to do? I can't tell people what they care they care with. How you let her? How I let her?
54:00Shannon Sharpe:What I'm supposed to do? Hey, I ain't nobody. Go in there and change. You ain't coming on here dressed like that. Man, she had me cracking up, man. Oh, man. You see it, Ocho, she said. What? She was dancing in Miami. Somebody gave her 350K. At King of Diamonds. I don't know where it was. I'm telling you where it was. And that's this one. I was, I was, I was, I was, this way back in the day, huh? Her name, a dance name was, I never forget. A dance name was Shenelica back then. She's a male girl. Yeah. That's what, hey, that's what she's pregnant, but you can tell she was pressure. Yeah. Yeah. That's back in the day when, when tip drill, Joe and.
54:45Oh, woo. Okay. People flying from out of town to come see tip drill. We talk about entertainment. Yeah. She was one of them ones, but. Hey, boy, that's that after dark.
54:56Shannon Sharpe:That's that after dark. What you talking about when that tip drill were coming on, you with you that's not no no no that's her name her dance name was tip drill oh she was getting down for her crown man she man listen if you i don't care how much you got in your parking when she hit that stage boy you throwing everything damn they covered about it yeah that was her name mocho hey let me let me give you an example joe you know how when you watch chris brown perform he puts on the show yeah beyonce perform she puts on the show yeah when When Tip Drill hit the stage, boy, she puts on the show. It ain't normal standing, shaking, no.
55:37I'm talking about on the pole, tricks, sliding to the top, sliding all the way to the... She'll let herself go on the pole. I'm talking about drop and stop right before she hit the floor. I'm talking about head first. Oh, man. It was stupid. It was stupid. Yeah,
55:56Shannon Sharpe:they be selling you a dream in there now. Yeah, yeah, yeah, they did say you dream but I ain't buying I mean with it where would it? Some of them got the muscles. Oh, I saw one pick up a dollar bill. Oh, Joe and Joe spit out four quarters. Man, you got a chance. I swear to God Joe, I swear to God, I swear to God, I swear to Joe. I swear I saw it. She picked it up. I said what? Hey, you ever seen that? You ever seen the young lady? I don't know her stage name, but she got the candle, and she know how to blow fire. You ever seen that one? Uh-uh. She make the fire. Blow it out with the, she can blow the candle out with it.
56:36No, no, no, no, no.
56:38Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, Joe, yeah, you ain't see that, Joe? No, I ain't seen that. Well, yeah, I ain't seen no freaking shit like that. Boy, I ain't, but that's when they used to get down. Yeah. $10 for the top,$10 for the bottom was all to get those draws to fall. That's what they did, what they charge. I seen them pick up bottles. I seen them pick up bottles with you. Nah, Joe. She picked up a dollar bill, spit out four quarters. Poom, poom, poom. How you do that? I like that. I got to see that. You got that gripper. You ain't got no video? Nah, man. Look at her.
57:17Hey, Joe. I got to see that, Joe. Pick up a dollar bill and spit four quarters out. Yeah. Yeah.
57:22Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. I like that. Yeah. Slow down now. Hey. I'm just saying I ain't never seen that Joe. That, that sound exciting. Okay. All right. No, Joe, you ain't. If she got that, if she got them kegel muscles like that, then I don't want no part of it. Yeah. Hey, I don't want no part either. I just want to see. Hey, hey. Like that thing got a heartbeat. Yeah, man. Look here.
57:51Shannon Sharpe:What's up, Big Green? Why y 'all still talking about the quarterback? Cleveland could own all 32 first-round picks, draft the quarterback every one, and still be scouting for a quarterback by week six. At this point, QB ain't the problem. The helmet is the curse. Ain't lying, boy. Probably got a point, for real.
58:13Shannon Sharpe:Iso, what are your thoughts on Nas, the 1v1 baller, calling out McColonel, saying he could beat him no problem on the Pat Bell podcast? Talking about TJ McConnell, the point guard for Indiana. I like Nas. Nas tough in that one-on-one space, and that space is a little different, Ocho. You know, I think for hoopers who really go into that space, whether you play in the NBA or whatnot, right it's they they the way the way they ref it because it's a lot more physical than what you think so certain calls where you think you'll probably get them you ain't you you may not get them bro you know what i mean but i like the confidence that nasa but i also know tj mccano he ain't no pushover bro that that hey hey that boy can get down you hear me that boy can get down man so i don't know i don't know if it ever happened though joe you pay attention to the one on one league sometime, you know some of them boys?
59:07Yeah, yeah, I pay attention to the one on one league.
59:09Shannon Sharpe:Okay, Ocho, I might be, I might try to get up in there. You know what I mean? I might, you know. Dad, dad, Joe. Have you seen the dude school play before? Yeah, I like school. I like school. School can go, Ocho. He can go. You go, hey, when you play against school, you gotta have some endurance, bro. If you ain't got no endurance, straight up. Cause he probably, honestly, he probably, in that one on one space, he's probably in the best shape. out of all those. He may not be the most skillful guy in the space, but he win a lot of his games, Unk, because he's going to have to work your ass. You know what I mean?
59:44Shannon Sharpe:He got that body, that frame. He can energize a bunny, bro. He keep going and going. When them dudes get tired, he still feel like he fresh or he looks fresh. I love watching school play. Hey, Unk, Iso, Ocho. Hey, Iso, when Shanna Brown blocked Mario West, was that the highest you've ever seen a man jump in a game that you played in? Man, I remember that like it was yesterday. We were playing the Lakers in L.A. Yeah. Shannon Brown and Mario West. Mario West, my guy, Ocho. He came down on a break. I guess he didn't see Shannon Brown. Man, Shannon Brown, I'm talking about it look like he touched the top of the backboard the way he blocked that board.
1:00:24Shannon Sharpe:He's like, damn. Yeah. They should have let that slide just on GP because he was so high up. They caught a foul on him. But that wasn't no foul, Iso. Nah, it wasn't no foul on. That boy, that boy got some - That boy got bunnies, boy. That boy had some batteries in his legs, you hear me? Yeah, he could jump.
1:00:47Shannon Sharpe:Man, check this out. Debating with a coworker right now, if God gave you six inches to use whatever you wanted, you applied it to your height or your manhood? That's a good one. I'm going high, I'm good everywhere else. You going high? Yeah. Six inches, what that'll make you? That'll make you - Seven feet. Seven feet. So Ocho about to be six, five, six, six. I'm six, three already. Six, three? Yeah. Yeah, man, you know. I be, yeah, I be about seven feet. What you gonna do, Omp? Cause I'm gonna wear my boots too. So I'm gonna be seven feet. Yo, you already know.
1:01:41nobody
1:01:55Shannon Sharpe:hey y 'all shout out hey Joe you can't be hey you about to be out there like what you call them You had six inches to your height, you gonna be out there like Wimby. Boy, hey, hey, I'm trying to get, I be trying to get some back pay. I be overseas or something. Oh, you going back in the NBA, Joe? I probably go overseas. I go overseas and play run it up. But no, what? Go to the, what you call them? Go to the 303. Go to Ice Cube, Big Three. I done dominated that. I done been done that. What else y 'all want from me? I mean. Go back there with my FOMO MVPs. You make it sound like you not going back, Joe.
1:02:30Shannon Sharpe:I ain't say that. I'm just saying, like, when I go back and do that, you know, that ain't going to be nothing. Okay, Ocho, it's like, you know. Hey. Yeah.
1:02:42Shannon Sharpe:As a brown man who grew up abroad, kudos, huge respects to Nightcap for platforming black women. Others would never. Man, look. We try to get them shine. I thought they said we don't have them on here. That's what people, instead of Harry's the thing, don't you? If you want to come on the platform, just reach out. You ain't got to, because somebody comment and tell us how good a job we doing, you don't have to repost and talk about, do this for others. If you want to come on, you, you're not speaking for others. Yeah. You speak for yourself. So that's how you handle that. If you want to come on, I reached out to Melissa because I wanted to have her on.
1:03:23Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. I thought what she's doing winning a double goal at the Ultimate Championship, I thought that was a huge feat. Hell, I'd like to have Masai Russell on also.
1:03:36Shannon Sharpe:But, hell, Chase Ealy, if you want to come on, she could come on too. But, I mean, that just – it's never going to be enough. That's never going to be enough. Right. So, ISO, my dog Pitbull and Ocho don't want no smoke. Who? They don't. He say you a Pitbull, Ocho don't want no smoke. Aw man, come on. We ain't get, me and Ocho, when it come to competing, you talking about basketball, come on man, I already told ya, y 'all know I don't get no strikes for that. Hey, you know what they do to Pitbulls? Like, you know, they put them down, you hear me? Okay. You know, they put them down. They put them down if they ain't getting the job done.
1:04:18Shannon Sharpe:I'm getting the job done over here, partner. You can believe that. So I don't know what you're talking about putting nothing down. Ain't putting nothing down over here, partner. Yeah. Okay. It sounds good. Hey, Joe, I don't really like the tone of your voice. It don't matter what you like. I'm just telling you from a pit bull, from a dog's perspective, this is what you're going to get, partner. Yeah. This is what it is. I don't talk about he don't like it. Hell, I don't care that you don't like it. Hey, listen. All that getting loud and trying to out-talk me, that ain't going to help you. Yeah.
1:04:43I'm just letting you know. I'm just letting you know that it's sweet. I'm gonna tell you, Joe, you don't put no fear over here, Joe.
1:04:48Shannon Sharpe:I don't want no fear. I don't want no fear, because you take the fun out of it. I don't want you to be scared. You hear me? Yeah, I want you to step up like a man, partner. Okay. Yeah. That's what I'm talking about. Boy, don't get me started tonight. Okay. All right. Hey, don't make me go in my bag. Go ahead, Ocho. I'm gonna tell him, don't make me go in my bag. Okay. Yeah. Damn, punk, you ain't let Ocho and Iso ask MJ one question. It don't make you no bad brother though. I got me a question in. I got me a good one in. I got me a good one in the beginning, because I already knew what time it was.
1:05:20Hey, that man got lost in the sauce. He wasn't even sitting there.
1:05:24Shannon Sharpe:I'm like, damn. I couldn't even jump in again, like playing double dutch. I'm trying to, damn, let me get in there. Let me get in there.
1:05:35Shannon Sharpe:OK, we're going to get Masai Russell on here. We're going to get Masai on here. All right. I'm going to stand back. I'm gonna let y 'all have it we'll get Messiah gonna try to get Sidney oh
