Guests (as mentioned in the episode)

Guest backgrounds

Paul Rudd is an actor known for film work (the hosts reference “Anchorman” and “The Office” in the banter).

Key claims

  1. Vikings: J.J. McCarthy is portrayed as unprepared/media-awkward compared to Kyler Murray, and the team’s QB move is framed as a response to McCarthy’s underperformance.
  2. Texans: CJ Stroud’s haircut is treated as a “new era” vibe; Houston’s defense is said to give him a bounce-back chance.
  3. Eagles: Saquon says he’ll miss AJ Brown personally, but the trade is framed as normal NFL business; the offense will continue.

Notable examples

  • Vikings locker-room quotes comparing Murray as “media savvy” and McCarthy as “not groomed.”
  • Texans: discussion of Stroud’s first-year success and later turnover issues.
  • Eagles: talk about AJ Brown’s public frustration, drops, and the reported owner/coach/teammate pressure leading up to the trade.

0:00Number one hits, millions of records sold, awards, sold out tours. You think the Jonas Brothers are satisfied? Nope. It's podcast time. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Hey Jonas is available now and their first guest is a big one, Paul Rudd. You know, Steve Carell is a great singer. Can you tell you not to audition at The Office or something? I told him. Whoa. We were filming Anchorman. Clearly I was the idiot. Thank God he didn't listen to me, right? Listen to Hey Jonas on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

1:06I'm Joey Dardano, and on my new podcast, Hope from a Hypocrite, I'll be changing lives, helping people in need with thoughtful solutions. Psych! I'm a comedian. I'm not qualified to give good advice. Join me and my comedian friends as we riff, rant, and recommend some of the most legally dubious advice known to me. This is Help from a Hypocrite, the worst advice from the dumbest people you know. Listen to Help from a Hypocrite Wednesdays on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Will Ferrell's Big Money Players and iHeart Podcast presents Soccer Moms. So I'm Leanne.

1:42Yeah. This is my best friend, Janet. Hey. And we have been joined at the hip since high school. Absolutely. A redacted amount of years later, we're still joined at the hip. Just a little bit bigger hips. This is a podcast. We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey with all the snacks and drinks. Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer? Oh, they had a BOGO. Well, then you got them. Listen to Soccer Moms on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm CJ Toledano. It's our favorite time of the year on our podcast point game, the playoffs.

2:15Joe Johnson:We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season, And I'm looking back on some of my greatest playoff moments. If we didn't talk ever again, I was fine. You just understood. That's how personal it got. Wow. Then after that game seven, Marquis coming to you, he's like, you know, I love you, dog. You know, it's all love. This was just playoffs. This was just basketball.

2:33Shannon Sharpe:So listen to Point Game on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray and J.J. McCarthy both spoke on their relationship with one another so far. Let's take a look. Oh.

2:53It's been great. It's been great. Obviously, I know he's a younger guy. So, any way I can help him, obviously, I feel like, you know, I've played seven years now going on eight. So, I'm considered a veteran, even though I don't see myself as that. Give him any knowledge that he needs. Again, you know, we're both competitors. And I know, you know, we both won what's best for the team. Has he been receptive to hearing criticism? Of course, of course. Yeah, he's overly receptive. and he's always communicating, asking questions, stuff like that, so it's been good. TJ, what's your relationship been like with Kyler so far?

3:24It's just like two guys in a classroom. He sits on one side, I sit on the other side, and it's the coach's responsibility to teach us and coach us. Is there any awkwardness between you two? Awkwardness, it's just like the same feeling when you're in high school and there's another person on the other side of the room. That's just kind of how it is, so I wouldn't say there's any awkwardness.

3:48Joe Johnson:Yeah, he's not savvy just yet. You can tell he's young. You can tell he hasn't been prepped in the right way to answer questions when it comes to players inside the locker room, especially one that you're competing against. And you can tell that, obviously, Kyle Lemurie, who's been there for a while, he's played in the NFL. He knows how to be media savvy. He knows how to answer questions the right way. When it comes to talking about a player that's in the same locker room with you, let alone the same position as you, he knows how to answer it. and dodge those questions in the right manner, hey, J.J.

4:21Joe Johnson:McCarthy, he hasn't been groomed. He hasn't been prepped. He just doesn't know what to say, and you can tell. Hey, J.J. know that Kyler's going to take his damn job. That's what he knows.

4:32Shannon Sharpe:But that too. Well, obviously, his job is already taken. It's his fault. Had you played better, the Kyler Murray services would not have been needed. Who called the plumber just to come over to the house? You only call the plumber what? If you need him. The drain clogged up. The toilet's something backed up. So the mere fact that they got Kyler Murray in there tells you everything you need to know, J.J. McCarthy. Don't be mad at the coach. Be mad at you. Your play brought this on. And now you're bad. He's sitting on one side. Yeah, guess where you're going to be. He's going to be on the field.

5:03Shannon Sharpe:You're going to be sitting on the bench. That's going to be really awkward. Because what they did is that they moved on from a guy that threw 30-something touchdowns and had them 14-3, and they moved on and left your ass there. Now he goes to another team and win the Super Bowl. And now guess what? Yeah. They stuck like on an elevator with a bad song. And you the bad song and they the elevator. Hey, I think Kyler gonna be great though. I'm rooting for him, bro.

5:33Joe Johnson:Is he? Because they got so many damn weapons. They got so many weapons, I think it's gonna work out for the better for him. So I'm rooting for him. He's gonna be alright. And the first thing people will say, Well, hell, he had weapons when he was in Arizona. He had Trey McBride, Marvin Harrison Jr. That got there, Mike Wilson. Did I say it right? Mike Wilson, right? Yeah. Oh, my goodness, Joe.

5:53Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

5:54Joe Johnson:He's nice. I hope he continues to play as well as he did all last season. You know, for the Cardinals and Jacoby Percet, who's probably going to be the starter. But, man, JJ McCarthy, he's stuck it up, Joe. I mean, he's stuck it up, man. Hey, I'm surprised. I'm surprised that Jedis was able to keep his patience as long as he did. I'm surprised. He had to struggle. Jedis had to struggle just to get the yards and the numbers that he did this season. How do you have Hawkinson? No, not Hawkinson. The tight end. Who's the tight end in Minnesota? Hawkinson. Oh, it is Hawkinson. Yeah, Hawkinson, Addison, and Jedis.

6:36Joe Johnson:They got Jennings now. You're supposed to be out there, man, just facilitating. It's supposed to be, especially when you're supporting the cast as great as it is, like that.

6:45Shannon Sharpe:Well, they had Addison and they had Naylor last year, but they got Jennings now, Ocho. Yeah. I think that's what you mean. Go ahead.

6:54Joe Johnson:Now, you're right. I'm done. I'm just saying there's no reason to look that bad when you support. Most times, quarterbacks struggle because they don't have the supporting cast to support them. Most times, quarterbacks struggle. You got the supporting cast. Sam Donald just had went went crazy with the boys 14 and 3 despite losing in the playoffs he leaves there they give the job to you because you were picked high so at some point they got to give you the reins they give the reins to the team and you wet the bed yeah and you done ran the horses in the ditch maybe learn from there bro you know learn some more on the bench yeah well I mean Hey, opportunities do come.

7:36You know, you got to be patient. Hey, hey, hey, hey.

7:39Shannon Sharpe:He'll get another chance. But you look at it. What I'm trying to understand is that based on his resume in college, he didn't throw the ball like that. Right. They were a running team, Ocho and Joe. Yeah. They were a physical, they're out physical team. They ran the football. Yeah. Michigan, they run you out. And now you're like, okay, we're going to need you to throw the ball 25, 30 times a game. That's not what he's good at. Right. He's had flashes, but flashes ain't going to get him in this league. Absolutely not. And in that division, look at the quarterbacks in that division. Jerry Goff, Jordan Love, Caleb Williams.

8:18Shannon Sharpe:Iceman.

8:23Shannon Sharpe:So, and that's what you got to deal with. Dang. Caleb Williams going into his third year. Jordan Love probably going into his fifth or sixth year. So, you got to deal with him for another decade. Yeah, yeah. and they need to answer without a quarterback joke i'll tell you what they need to answer tell me what's the question and i'll tell you if it's if it's jj mccarthy that though who's the quarterback drafted in the first round who hadn't lived up to expectations in the last two years jj mccarthy is that the question you're asking because you said the answer because that's got to be the question yeah yeah man

9:01Joe Johnson:I blame the scouting department. Huh? I blame the scouting department. Because you knew where he was coming from. He wouldn't fit in the system that you had. You knew that. But you picked him anyway. You picked him anyway. He's coming from Michigan. Michigan barely threw the ball.

9:19Shannon Sharpe:Yep.

9:20Joe Johnson:They barely threw the ball. Joe, they run you out. They run you out the stadium.

9:24Shannon Sharpe:And when you're throwing the ball, Ocho, how wide open are guys? because they got eight guys in the box trying to stop the run wide open yeah i think that ain't that ain't gonna work you might get a one your throw here they're wide open you gotta throw guys open in this league and this is open in this league yeah all that stuff the guys running scot

9:43Joe Johnson:free and they got their hand up and they 10 yards behind somebody hey you get that every blue moon they're busted yes every blue moon oh joe joe cj stroud spoke about his shorter haircut look and the reaction it got let's take a listen uh i honestly didn't see the reactions i mean i was told that people thought i was like depressed or like that i was like i wasn't i was doing okay but i've been thinking about cutting my hair for a long time um and i was actually gonna do it much prior but i I just didn't know how my helmet was going to fit. So nothing really too serious. I mean, I'm kind of used to this haircut.

10:23It's how I grew up. The dreads were kind of a new thing. But I hate everything in my life. It's so public. And people just have narratives. But it's the life I've chosen to live. So it's all good. But, yeah, I like my haircut. Part of it. Come with the territory.

10:40Shannon Sharpe:Anytime you change anything, something's got to be going on. Yep. Boy, man, look at Unc. Unc got all that gray. Boy, he going through it. Yep. Man, they had Unk down so bad he done grew a beard.

10:58Joe Johnson:I mean, it's for the better. It's for the better. Face of the franchise, you know, clean cut, nice haircut. Not saying there's anything wrong with Dredd. Not saying there's anything wrong with having Dredd and being the face of a franchise. But, I mean, listen, you want to change up, you know. Yeah, he's allowed to. Be nice and clean, you know, professional. Not saying you can't be professional with dreads. You can. But I'm just saying, you know, sometimes you got to play the game. Your play got to do all the talking. Damn them haircuts. Come on now. You got to have to go out there and show up and show the hell out.

11:33Come on now. Hey, straight up.

11:36Joe Johnson:And this day, yeah, Joe, that defense over there in Houston? Yeah. They got one. Because CJ looked great his first year in the league, but he ain't. Hey, Uncle Ocho, he ain't been the same since then, bro.

11:48Shannon Sharpe:I tried to tell Ocho that. Ocho, he wasn't listening to me.

11:50Joe Johnson:I would listen to you. I would listen to you now. I would listen to you. Now, now, don't think about last year.

11:55Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, he started reading the press clippings. He started trying to tell everybody, even a better quarterback, you know, hey, you remember that time he asked Caleb Williams? He tried the big boy Caleb? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey, yeah, you need a thing from him, man. Just hit me up.

12:08Joe Johnson:You know, you know, see, they're just being a positive person, just lending the helping hand because it's just. Okay. Yes, he had, that's all. He didn't mean no harm by it. But I guarantee you, he has to have a bounce back year. This is money year, huh? Absolutely. And with that defense he got, Joe? Yeah, yeah, yeah. If he play good with that defense that he got behind him, Uncle Ocho, Houston can really be a big player in this. You know what I mean? But here, they gonna need him to be him. Yeah, he gotta be on point.

12:42Shannon Sharpe:Hold on. Man, I came to the Steelers. Remember that Monday night game against the Steelers? Yes, sir. He turned the ball on like four or five times I'm like, bro. Do you realize what you said? No. Mm-hmm Do you and the Patriots game? Gave it up. I mean they were balling out. It was killing Drake, but they could Yeah, I can't you can't it's hard. It is extremely hard. It's even more difficult now to overcome bad quarterback play. It used to be a time, Mocho, you could overcome that because you could hide your quarterback. You can't hide him anymore.

13:15Joe Johnson:Yeah, not anymore. Not the way the game is played now. The game has evolved completely different now, and that was his issue. Obviously, when he was hurt, when Mills came in, Mills played extremely well. When C.D. Stroud came back, the turnovers was a little bit too much. And as great as the defense was, they couldn't overcome that. In the playoffs, what was the problem on why they lost? You know, the turnovers again. I think those— Just don't put him in harm's way. That's it.

13:39Shannon Sharpe:Don't put him in harm's way. Don't put him on short fields. Make him drive. That was our motto in Baltimore. Make him drive 70, 80. You're not scoring. Right. Just don't put him on a short field. Don't give him scooping scores. Don't give him pick six. Make him earn it. Make him go get seven the hard way against our defense. Make him go 60, 70, 80 yards and see how many times the success rate that they have. Right. We're putting him on short fields. We're putting him first and going. No, we can't do that. Hey, I don't give a damn. Man, what sport you playing? Them damn turnovers will kill you every time, boy.

14:09Shannon Sharpe:Absolutely. Every time. Probably the biggest determining factor of whether you win or lose the game. Absolutely. Absolutely. But he's right. The haircut, I mean, people don't realize them dreads, hey, have your helmet sticking up like this, and you try to be bouncing around on your head. That's why I was like, man, because you got to get a helmet a size up, don't you, Ocho? Yeah. You got those dreads? Yeah, you got to.

14:40Shannon Sharpe:Those guys, they rock. Saquon Barkley says that he's going to miss his former teammate, A.J. Brown, after he's traded. Let's take a listen. I don't think we really addressed it. It's football. It's National Football League. I think if you sit at me, it's going to be a hard time for me to say anything bad about A.J. Brown. I'm a big fan of A.J. Brown, one of my really good friends, one of my favorite teammates I've ever been around. Just respect him as a man. But this is the business, it's the NFL. If I'm not here, if Jayla's not here, whoever's not here, the show goes on. And that's just how the NFL operates.

15:21So you don't really address it. It's not really anything to be addressed. You just go by your work and keep you getting better. And whatever happens, it's above my pay grade.

15:32Joe Johnson:And I'm just focused on being the best player that I can be. yeah hey that's the nature of the business and you want to do it I mean as great as AJ Brown was especially in that season and helping him win a Super Bowl he was great since he's been there since he left Tennessee he's been great he's done some great things with Jalen Hurts obviously things fell to the wayside uh last year uh even more prevalent the year before that you know the fire started yeah the fire started you know during that time and now it's time for them to part ways. There shouldn't really be anything bad to say about him because stuff like this happens all the time.

16:08Joe Johnson:Things don't work out. But the show, like you said, the show does go on. They absolutely will. They hadn't traded him yet? Nah, June 1st. June 1st. June 1st. I'm saying y 'all already know where he's going? I said it during the season. He was going to the Patriots. The hold up is

16:27Shannon Sharpe:the Patriots are trying to stand pat on the first round pick. The Patriots like, I know you got to trade him. Ain't no way y 'all can break him back. Man, that Fox been destroying y 'all here in house. I know y 'all got to get rid of him. Y 'all better take this second and probably a few things and keep it moving. Yeah. This is what I know. I know y 'all don't want him back. I know he doesn't want to be back. Yeah. Those are two things. I don't know anything else. but those two things I know for 100 % for certain y 'all don't want him back and he doesn't want to be back man I got one more thing too I would

17:12Joe Johnson:like and hope that this trade doesn't extend itself any further than June 1st so he can get to this new team where he is going and get activated with that offense with those players with that staff so he can hit the ground running in training camp and going into season and knowing that goddamn offense like the back of his hand.

17:34Shannon Sharpe:Right. Let's take a listen to what Jalen Hurts would ask about A.J. A.J. is traded. How would that affect the offense? How would that affect you?

17:48Picked the right question to sip on, huh? No, I think for us, you know, we're focused on learning the offense. It really doesn't change in terms of our approach to improve.

18:00Joe Johnson:you know there's a if um obviously been lingering a lingering thing but nothing can replace all the greatness that we we achieve together

18:13Shannon Sharpe:are they speaking are they speaking in future tips are they speaking in past is joe and ocho uh pass because he said ain't nothing can take away what we the greatness that we accomplished Yeah, yeah. Pass. Accomplished, E.D. Yeah. Oh, we got a lot to accomplish.

18:36Shannon Sharpe:That's future tense. Yeah. E.D., past tense. You hear Saquon, they've become resigned to the fact. Ocho, you know what, Ocho, we ain't going to do that tonight. Tonight is not the night Ocho and I pat ourselves on the back. Because I tried to warn you. But y 'all call me, y 'all, you don't know nothing. You know, that's what I don't like about Unk. Unk think he know everything. And then Ocho, Ocho sit up there, and he won't disagree with it. I said, I don't know everything. I just know a little bit about everything. Right. And I, based on my experience, when a guy gets like this publicly, it's only a matter of time.

19:14Shannon Sharpe:But y 'all told me and Ocho, we didn't know what we were talking about.

19:17Joe Johnson:Yeah.

19:17Shannon Sharpe:But now, after it was going to happen, it came up, oh, everybody knew that. Yeah. Oh, sure. What they do? They argue us up and down every Sunday.

19:25Joe Johnson:Yeah. Yeah. Every Sunday. We were we were saying it while he was still here while he was still there.

19:30Shannon Sharpe:While the game in October, we played the sound. I said this in October, Joe. Yeah. Probably about four or five weeks into the season. I said, oh, he gone. Yeah.

19:40Joe Johnson:Gone. Yeah. And you know, you know, it's funny, too, is I'm an Eagles fan. I'm an Eagles fan. Well, hell, I'm a fan of everybody. I'm a fan of everybody. But I always find the good in everything. And one of the few times that is hard for me to do, Joe, is to be critical of certain players and situations. And this is one of the situations where I was critical in saying, I see the right one on the wall. We've seen it happen a couple of times before. Now, as great as A.J. Brown has been for the Philadelphia Eagles, I knew that door was closing. Based on some of the things that were happening this year, combining what happened the year before that.

20:17Shannon Sharpe:Yes. Yes. Yeah.

20:18Joe Johnson:They only going to tolerate so much. And he was frustrated because his numbers were down. Offensively, they weren't able to run the ball. They weren't able to throw the ball. The offense was too predictable. I can tell you. I don't play for the Philadelphia Eagles, but I can tell you exactly what route A.J. Brown is running based on his alignment, on what side the ball he was on. If I know and I'm not playing, I know the people they're playing against do. Right. Hey, so what's up with Saquon? I mean, I know he had a down year last year. The line was hurt.

20:51Shannon Sharpe:The line was banged up. They made a conscious effort. They said, we're not going to let you run the ball. Right. We're going to make Jalen Hurst throw the football. If Jalen Hurst throws the ball at an efficient rate for 280, 300 yards, we're going to walk to the ceiling, feel it, shake his hand, say, congratulations, stay healthy. Hello. We'll see y 'all down the road. Yeah. We don't believe, teams don't believe that he can consistently do that. that he can beat you. No.

21:21Dang.

21:22Shannon Sharpe:And so it was just a matter of time before AJ like, and I said, look, the only thing that I had, I understand that AJ wants to, you know, he wants to contribute and he feels like scoring touchdowns, catching passes, help contribute to make this offense better than what it is, make the team better. I say, but when you do it publicly and you're winning, fans will look at you as being selfish because you say the most important thing you hear everybody say Joe I just want to win I just want to win were you winning I said if you want to have this conversation where it hurts you want to have this conversation with your coach behind closed doors and it doesn't get out by all means have it and it got to the point that even the owner stepped in and had a conversation it was reported we have to do everything it was reported that the owner, Jeffrey Lurie, had a conversation with AJ and asked him to tamper some of this down.

22:18Shannon Sharpe:That's what was reported.

22:21Joe Johnson:You know what? I'm going to joke. I guarantee you he had those conversations. And he exhausted all options. He talked to his quarterback. He talked to his head coach. Nothing was changing on the field. Nothing was changing. You're right. At that point, well, hell, I done talked to everybody in the building. They probably went over it in practice. It looked good in practice. But when we get into the game, well, God damn, nothing's changing. We just talked about this. I went to my owner. I went to my coach. I pulled one of my best friends to my side, my quarterback. Hey, man, look, man, come on now.

23:06AJ want them damn numbers. He like, damn, man.

23:08Joe Johnson:He got to have it. Because when you're making the kind of money he's making, the only way you allow to make that kind of money

23:14Shannon Sharpe:is to have the numbers to support the money you're making. And then, what did I say, Ocho? I said, now, what happens, Joe, when you do this, when you make this thing public, and they come to you, and you drop a few passes, Ocho, what's going to happen? Oh, yeah. And I bid, damn, what happened in that playoff game, Ocho? Was that four down, that four down or third down? He dropped several. Yeah. And then the fans, all of a sudden, some of the fans were like, AJ, bro, you complaining, we winning the game, bro, just calm down. And the fans that were on his side, all of a sudden, bro, you've been complaining all year about the ball.

23:50Shannon Sharpe:And then all of a sudden, we don't see you give the effort on one. We see you drop a couple others. Yeah.

24:02Shannon Sharpe:You have to move on. I think you'll be happy. I think they'll be happier. that's what I think sometimes it's just time it just runs its course you know and when people get divorced what do you hear the old irreconcilable differences yes yeah this is what it is hey he definitely made this he made an impact on Philly they won a Super Bowl got to, got to 2, 1-1.

24:42Hey, man, sometimes you take that for granted, bro.

24:45Shannon Sharpe:You do. You do. He would think it's easy. I mean, but he can't know. He has to know that it's not easy considering where he came from.

24:53Joe Johnson:Yeah.

24:54Shannon Sharpe:He got to the AFC Championship game. Remember, he got to the AFC Championship game, Ocho, Tennessee against Kansas City.

25:01Joe Johnson:Yeah.

25:02Shannon Sharpe:But didn't get back that close again. So it's not easy. Yeah. Winning in sports and winning at a high level is not easy. Some teams make it look easy. The Chiefs going to all these Super Bowls in this AFC Championship game, that's not easy. The Patriots doing it for two decades. That's not easy. They just made it look easy. Any team that's not the Patriots or Kansas City, ask them, is it easy to win in this league? Ask them, is it easy to get to and win Super Bowls? And every last one of them, other than Kansas City, and even Kansas City and Patriots are going to tell you. It's not easy. No, no.

25:39Joe Johnson:But the way those teams are constructed, the Eagles are always going to be in contention, y 'all can joke. Always. Just the way they're constructed from top to bottom. I agree. Hey, Joe, it's eight teams, right? Yeah. It's maybe eight, maybe seven teams that legitimately have a chance at holding that Lombardi trophy up. You're right. That's it. The rest of the teams, come on, man. They said they said they're trying to make it.

26:07Shannon Sharpe:They lying to the fan base. Oh, this is the year we got. No.

26:13Joe Johnson:Y 'all ain't fooling nobody. Yeah, you got to be built to do so. The good eight teams are really built to actually make that run.

26:22Shannon Sharpe:I mean, I'm trying to think. Hell.

26:30Shannon Sharpe:I played 14 years. only made the playoffs eight times. What about those other six years? Only? Yeah.

26:39Joe Johnson:I done played 11, 12 and made it one. Come on now.

26:44Shannon Sharpe:Hey, but think about if you were a Patriot. Oh. Every year. Every other year, you were the damn Super Bowl. Oh, Joey Joe. That's crazy. Yeah. What if you were drafted by Kansas City over the last five years? All you know prior to this year was AFC Championship and Super Bowls. Absolutely right. Come on, man. You drafted to the Bulls in the 90s. You drafted to the Lakers in the 2000s. Early 2000s. That's all you know.

27:18Damn. Absolutely right.

27:22Shannon Sharpe:Man.

27:27Shannon Sharpe:Y 'all just be making stuff up. But you know what? I had a conversation. Joe told me, but Ash told me this today. She's like, Shanna, you know they be trying to get you going, right? I said, you know what? It be working, too. Hey, hey, hey. Like my grandma said, you just trying to get my damn blood pressure up. Because, hey, Aux said, Hertz can't win. I didn't say that. I said, but there's a specific way that I want to, I want to defense him to limit his chances of winning every quarterback. I try to take away his strengths. I'm going to make Tom Brady throw the ball down the field. I ain't getting them quick throws.

28:14Shannon Sharpe:Oh, Joe, I ain't getting them running back in the swing. I'm not, I'm taking away Edelman. I'm taking away his first read. I want him to take, I want him to hit you.

28:20Joe Johnson:Yeah.

28:23Shannon Sharpe:Mahomes, I want him to throw the ball from the pocket. I don't want him getting outside.

28:27Joe Johnson:Don't let him outside. Keep him between the tackles because he's going to hurt you. And the funny thing about Mahomes, you keep him between the tackles, he hurt you from there. He hurt you from the tackles. He hurt you with his legs too.

28:40Shannon Sharpe:And he can throw it. Because the thing is, he can only hurt me from the pocket throwing the ball. I let him outside, he can throw it, and he can run it. Yeah, yeah. Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, Nick? Huge news. We created our own podcast called Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast?

28:58Joe Johnson:Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. Yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts. We're starting a trend. But this one's extra special. So how did we actually come up with the name Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band. And before Jonas Brothers, This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, Hey, Jonas.

29:32Joe Johnson:And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey, Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey, Jonas on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm CJ Toledano. and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luka and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.

30:04And he knows without Luka and Austin Reed,

30:07Joe Johnson:I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's gonna be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reed. He has to guard Julius Randle. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on a night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history, too. Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers while he got the ball. Like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick.

30:42Oh, yeah. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Here's something that should not be as complicated as it is. Getting a racist statue removed. And here's something that should be a whole lot easier than it is. Getting a new one put up in its place.

31:03Joe Johnson:As long as there's a politics of race in America, there's going to be a politics of remembering the Civil War. To get to school, I had to go down Robert E. Lee Boulevard. Get to the grocery store, I had to go down Jefferson Davis Parkway. If you're a historian and you leave out half of what the history is, you're not doing your job. I'm Akilah Hughes, and Rebel Spirit Season 2 goes deep on both of those things. The fights, the politics, the people who won, and my personal campaign to add something to the Kentucky Statehouse that's actually worth the wall space. We are more than our bodies. We contain essence.

31:35We contain spirit. How do you represent that? They are just fueling a fire that is really catching. You'll see what I mean. Listen to Rebel Spirit Season 2 on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Jared O'Donnell. You might know me as that loud guy who yells out, Help! on the internet! Help! Somebody! Please! But there's so much more to me than that. I'm an actor, I'm a comedian, and recently I've become quite the helper myself. And on my new podcast, Hope from a Hypocrite, I'll be changing lives! helping people in need with my sage advice and thoughtful solutions.

32:16Psych! I'm a comedian! I'm not qualified to give good advice! Join me and my comedian friends as we riff, rant, and recommend some of the most legally dubious advice known to man. If I'm calling you, even if you're on your phone, let it ring twice. One ring is too scary. Cream of chicken soup. Hey, cream. Cream of chicken soup. This is Help From a Hypocrite, the worst advice from the dumbest people you know. Listen to Help From a Hypocrite as part of the Mike Cultura Podcast Network, available on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Will Ferrell's Big Money Players and iHeart Podcast presents Soccer Moms.

32:56So I'm Leanne. Yeah. This is my best friend, Janet. Hey. And we have been joined at the hip since high school. Absolutely. Now a redacted amount of years later, we're still joined at the hip. Just a little bit bigger hips, wider. This is a podcast. We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey. With all the snacks and drinks. Sidebar. Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer? Oh, they had a BOGO. Well, then you got it. Do you want a white collar or something? Here, just hit it. What are y 'all doing? Microphones? Are you making a rap album? Oh, I would.

33:26Could you imagine? I would buy it.

33:29Shannon Sharpe:Cuts through the defense like a hot knife through sponge cake. That sounds delicious. Oh, you're lucky.

33:36Joe Johnson:I'm not a drug addict. You're lucky I'm not an alcoholic. You're lucky I'm not a killer. I love this team, and I'm really trying to be a figure in their lives that they can rely on. Oh. Oh. Listen to Soccer Moms on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

33:57Shannon Sharpe:That's time for our final segment of the evening. It's time for Q and A. Hey. Hey.

37:01That 09 was – that was Powell and –

37:04Shannon Sharpe:Powell, Kobe, Bynum. Yeah, yeah. They had a nice squad. They had a nice squad. But they weren't going to be able to do – they were not going to be able to do anything with Elijah Warren or Duncan back then. Hell no. That was Duncan at his superpowers. Woo! Ooh. You don't get many guys who come into the NBA and can play meaningful basketball like that, you know, to where they winning. Yeah, I think they went to the finals this first year in that lockout season. Wasn't that lockout season? Which one? Duncan. Duncan. Duncan, yes. Yeah.

37:43Yes.

37:44Shannon Sharpe:That boy was wrong, man. And Olajuwon went to the NBA finals in his second year in the league. with the Rockets, they lost to the Celtics 4-2. That was Byrd's Celtics. Oh, okay, yeah.

38:00Joe Johnson:Hey, I thought Timmy was, huh? Duncan? Yeah.

38:03Shannon Sharpe:What'd you say, Joe, 16? Yeah, about 16.

49:37Shannon Sharpe:Fellas, if Tony Brothers wrestles game seven, put your house on OKC. I think it's going to probably be Scott Foster. If I had to guess, I'd say it'd be Foster. I want Tony Brothers, bro. Tony! I need you, baby.

50:02Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, you got to take Uncle Iso to Scotland v. Brazil June 24th in Miami. Scottish fans always bringing party and Brazilian women everywhere. What a combo. Amen. Yeah, man. Hey, that green and gold? Oh, yeah. That's what he said.

50:20Joe Johnson:Hey, that atmosphere, the Scotland fans, the Brazilian fans are already crazy. Argentine fans are already crazy. Hey, answer this. Answer me this. They're going to be out there? Joe.

50:39Oh, okay. Okay.

50:42Joe Johnson:Hey, but people, she back there, so don't get me in no trouble. Yeah, I got you. I got you. I got you. I got you. I ain't going. I'm going.

50:49Shannon Sharpe:I'm up.

50:51Joe Johnson:Hey, Joe, it's different. Yeah. It's different. Oh, my goodness. And one thing about the World Cup, the cameraman, if you watch it from TV, always know how to find him. Don't he, man? Oh, my goodness. Oh, my goodness. He know how to find him. Yes, Lord. What's up? What you gonna do? You gonna barbecue a meal do? When? At the World Cup when Brazil.

51:17Shannon Sharpe:Nah, man. Nah, Joe. See, look here. Look, you get one or the other. You get a night in Houston or you get to go to the World Cup. Which you picking? Oh, we going to H-Town. We going to H-Town. Oh, I'm not that person. Hold on, y 'all picking,

51:31Joe Johnson:you picking Houston over a World Cup game? Hell yeah. Oh, we were going to Area 29?

51:40Joe Johnson:Let me know so I got to get my boots ready, boy. Yeah, man, we got to talk Unc off this damn clear.

51:48Shannon Sharpe:All right, well, Unc say he'd rather go to Houston. No, I asked Joe which would he rather. Joe said he'd rather go to Houston. Unc basically saying he going to give us one or the other. He ain't going to both. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

52:04Joe Johnson:I can't do both of them. Let me know when we're going. I'm going to reserve us a section at Chapman and Kirby. lord have mercy yeah we hey we gonna go to um you know you hey joe you eat low low chicken and waffles

52:15Shannon Sharpe:i i can make case for yeah yeah we we gotta hit low low i'm just i look i'm just looking i'm telling you i'm gonna find that morning i'm how the cop hit me take me straight to kirby and chapman or whatever the name of the place yeah chapman and curvy chapman and curvy okay him chapman and kirby's yeah we got we gotta we gotta hit another spot hey joe it's a nice little

52:33Joe Johnson:spot no no i'm gonna go back to the room because after i eat i'm gonna be i'm gonna need a nap Hold on, but we're going to go to Groves. We're going to have a little brunch at Groves. You hear me? So what are we going to Kirby and Chapman for? That's in the evening. That's in the evening. Hold on. So you do - Yeah, in the evening. All the grown folk. All the grown folk from the Chapman and Kirby. You do the day parties and all that? Yeah, see, we're going to do brunch. Get us, you know, grits and eggs, sausage, you know, waffles.

53:00Shannon Sharpe:I'm going to need to take a nap after that, though, Ocho.

53:03Joe Johnson:You can take a nap. You can take a nap. Okay. And then we're going to wake up. we're going to hit Chapman and Kirby. Now, after Chapman and Kirby, we're going to get ourselves together, go put on our good clothes. Damn, how many spots we're going to hit? We're going to hit by three, four. Four spots. Because Unc said he want to get in and get out. So if we're going to get in and get out, we need to make sure Sunday.

53:20Shannon Sharpe:Oh, no, no, no, no. I can't say that. Unc going to do that. You best believe.

53:26Joe Johnson:You best believe Unc will not be there past 24 hours. Yeah. Hey, but listen, if we're going to do 24 hours, we're going to do 24 hours the right way. Okay. for brunch in the morning. I'm going to let Uncle take a nap because you got to sleep. Then we're going to throw them the chicken and waffles. They just built them. Then we're going to hit Chapman and Kirby in the evening. After Chapman and Kirby, then we're going to go to Area 29 and we're going to spend the night at Area 29. We're going to throw maybe about$10 ,000,$15 ,000. Who's going to throw$10 ,000,$15 ,000? I mean, collectively as a group.

53:59Joe Johnson:So you're going to throw five. I'm gonna throw five, yeah, I'm gonna throw five and I throw about two. Hell, what? Like hell you say? Man, what's wrong with you? Hey, I'm like, oh hell, I'm gonna need me a nap too. Hey, but I'm gonna tell you now, don't count me in for no 5 ,000, not throwing no five grand. I ain't throwing no 5 ,000. I'm just letting you know that now. What you gonna throw about 10? No, no, no. Damn, Joe, 15? It's gonna be under all that you talking about. That's what I'm saying. Who's going under? Yeah, I'm being under all that. What, by two, three? I probably could do by two, two, yeah, by two, three.

54:35Joe Johnson:Okay, I do two then, I do two, I do two. Why you only doing two? Well, can you say you're doing two? Well, you ain't gotta do what I do. If you wanna go off the cliff and throw by six, seven, you can do that. Six, seven what? You say about six, seven, this? Yeah, six, seven thousand, shit. Shit, shit, the devil is a lie. I ain't spun six, seven thousand in a relationship.

55:03Joe Johnson:Hey, listen, I got our day already planned out. I'm gonna send both of y 'all a itinerary. Okay. All right. All right. Damn.

55:12Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, it's gonna be a good time. But two or 3 ,000 with ones, that's a woo.

55:17Joe Johnson:Hey, hey. Hey, that's bad like this here. Yeah, look like he balling, boy. Huh? It does. Yeah. Hey, hold on. We gonna have a cameraman to catch everything?

55:26Shannon Sharpe:Nah, no. Nope.

55:29Joe Johnson:So how we going to document our eating? I got a question. I got a question. I'm saying y 'all going to be in there, you know, smacking all that, doing, throwing your money out. No.

55:38Shannon Sharpe:Or you just, you just, yeah, I'm just throwing it there, y 'all. Hey, dope. No.

55:44Joe Johnson:Hey, you know you can touch what you see now.

55:46Shannon Sharpe:No, I can't do nothing. Can't do nothing.

55:50Joe Johnson:Okay, okay. I'm ready, though.

55:52Shannon Sharpe:I can't wait. Yeah. I might go in there in disguise. I might go ahead and cut my beard off so they don't really know what to speak. They gonna know it's you, boy. You a public figure.

56:05Joe Johnson:Nah, I'm good, cause. Hey, you know what I'm gonna do for you? You know what I'm gonna do for you? When we go in Area 29, I'ma pay you 5 ,900 so you can throw that. Huh? See, I'm a good dude. I don't wanna throw that all that. No? No. I wish I'm gonna hold on to it. I'm about to break my mom off something for letting me go. Yeah.

56:29Shannon Sharpe:You got to get permission to go out? Yeah. Damn. Try to keep the peace, Ocho.

56:35Joe Johnson:Try to keep the peace. Right. Right. Ain't nothing wrong with that. Hold on. As a grown man, if you can't choose since you don't normally do it, you got to ask the one time you want to go. Yeah. Do you have permission?

56:45Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, Ocho. You know, it's been pretty rushed the last 13, 14 months for you.

56:52Joe Johnson:Okay, you know what? I'm picking up what you're putting down. You ain't got to say no. I'm picking up what you're putting down. Don't worry about it.

56:58Shannon Sharpe:NBA Sentinel called SGA a Toy Story character. Somebody yells, Andy's coming, and he immediately dropped to the floor. Damn. That's why SGA going to get their ass hell in game seven. Don't give them hell in game seven. Oh, Lord, have mercy. I ain't asking this. Bitch, cut, start. Molly, Joy, Jenny. Who? Molly Karam, Joy Taylor, Jenny Taff. Oh, man. That's y 'all hell left. What you mean?

57:28Joe Johnson:Them your colleagues, you work with them. You got to come on now. I don't know them personally like that to even answer that.

57:35Shannon Sharpe:Nope. All of them great to me. Home team, I still keep in touch with home team. Jenny, Jenny from Manny, be on that hint. Yeah, nope, nope. I appreciate that, but nah, I ain't got nothing for you, bro. SGA LaFlaPierre is a premium VSOP, but he plays like an H. You know the rest. Ethical basketball has to win game seven, but just hope it ends up a classic. They got to chill, bro. How you say it, SGA LaFlaPierre? How you say it? They call him LaFlaPierre. He's a premium VSOP, but he plays like an H.

58:13Joe Johnson:That's a good one. Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, Nick? Huge news. We created our own podcast called Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. Yeah, a pretty wide range of podcasts. We're starting a trend. But this one's extra special. So how did we actually come up with the name Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. And we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers.

58:50Joe Johnson:This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, hey, Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm CJ Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luka and Austin Reed.

59:24And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luka and Austin Reed, I gotta manipulate the game.

59:36Joe Johnson:We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reed. But like, after you go through a training camp with that Isaiah, you figure it out real quick.

1:00:09Get your ass up and down the court and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Here's something that should not be as complicated as it is. Getting a racist statue removed. And here's something that should be a whole lot easier than it is. Getting a new one put up in its place.

1:00:30Joe Johnson:As long as there's a politics of race in America, there's going to be a politics of remembering the Civil War. To get to school, I had to go down Robert E. Lee Boulevard. To get to the grocery store, I had to go down Jefferson Davis Parkway.

1:01:02We contain spirit. How do you represent that? They are just fueling a fire that is really catching. You'll see what I mean. Listen to Rebel Spirit Season 2 on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

1:01:29I'm a comedian, and recently I've become quite the helper myself. And on my new podcast, Hope from a Hypocrite, I'll be changing lives, helping people in need with my sage advice and thoughtful solutions. Psych!

1:02:09Listen to Help from a Hypocrite as part of the My Cultura podcast network available on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Will Ferrell's Big Money Players and iHeart Podcast presents Soccer Moms. So I'm Leanne. This is my best friend, Janet. Sidebar, why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer?

1:02:45Oh, they had a BOGO. Well, then you got it. Do you want a white collar or something? Here, just take it. What are y 'all doing? Microphones? Are you making a rap album? Oh, I would. I would buy it.

1:02:55Shannon Sharpe:Cuts through the defense like a hot knife through sponge cake. That sounds delicious. Oh, you're lucky I'm not a drug addict.

1:03:04Joe Johnson:You're lucky I'm not an alcoholic. You're lucky I'm not a killer. I love this team, and I'm really trying to be a figure in their lives that they can rely on. Oh.

1:03:16Listen to Soccer Moms on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

1:03:24Shannon Sharpe:Wimby is the fireworks Harper is the lighter The rook was diving for those loose balls tonight Respectfully to the young bull He a problem when he heads in it Joe I had a conversation with you at the very beginning I said Joe It's going to be hard to keep Dylan Harper Still coming off that bench I said I'm not going to be surprised

1:03:50I told you. They're going to probably have to find what they're going to do with Fox. But that man going to be.

1:03:58Shannon Sharpe:I say, Joe, it's just going to be too hard to keep him on the bench. It is, man. He too damn good, Uncle Ocho. He came into a perfect situation as a rookie being a number two pick. Man, he came into a perfect situation. Let's go Spurs. This is Texas. even sisters are with us and the lord we got this flop ass team hey y 'all need to go and take them sisters with y 'all to okc i wouldn't be surprised if they're every down there i wouldn't be surprised

1:04:28Joe Johnson:i wouldn't be surprised hey you know we joe you know you know what we definitely lose losing if

1:04:34Shannon Sharpe:we got sister mary clarence behind us but we losing oh do you still love hog and do you still eat everything on the pig except the squeal. Oink. Yeah, I still eat all. Eat bacon, eat pigtails, eat pig feet, pig ear. You still eat pig feet? I do. I ain't had some in a while, but you know what? We got to try some, because when we go on our adventure, we got to try pig feet. Go on in the corner store. They got that wax paper. Get them tongs. Find that big one. I don't think that the enzymes in my stomach gonna be able to hold that on. When I was young, me and my grandma used to eat pig feet, but I ain't know no better.

1:05:19Now that I know better, with that hot sauce on them, Joe?

1:05:24Joe Johnson:Hey, I don't even need no hot sauce. I don't need no hot sauce.

1:05:29Shannon Sharpe:We know you know.

1:05:33Shannon Sharpe:A big old pack of pigtails and a small pot of greens? Huh? Woo! Woo! Calm down. Hey, hey, hey. I know Ocho eat any damn thing here. He eat boobies. Hey, Joe, who you telling? Who you telling? Boy, if it move, it's getting ate, boy. I already know it. I already know it. That's all. Woo! Joe, I'm saying, but you got to try it. That's the part of the adventure. You got to try all this. Yeah, hey. I ain't say you got to clean the plate, but you got to take a couple of bites of it. Yeah, I don't know. Hey, you know what? Y 'all talk a good game. By game, y 'all ain't going to be able to hold none of that down, either.

1:06:04I already know it.

1:06:05Joe Johnson:Yo, I still eat pig feet, pig tongue. I mean, all that, man, pig ears. Hey, them pig ears sandwich, Joe.

1:06:13Shannon Sharpe:You like the pig ears sandwich with some mustard. Nah, I had some pig ears before, Uncle, I couldn't do them. You couldn't? Hell no. Oh, man. No, son. Y 'all boy going from the rooter to the tutor.

1:06:30Joe Johnson:Hey, look, we gotta get your palate together, Joe. Yeah.

1:06:35Shannon Sharpe:Go ahead and take some Pepto before you get on camera. Kill. And some Imodio. Do you guys think the Knicks will play like they did against the Eastern Conference teams or OKC Spurs crushed them? I don't believe the Knicks are that good. Look, both of the teams, whoever wins game seven, are better than anybody that they played in the East. Absolutely. That's just fact. Both of those teams are deeper. Both of those teams' starters are better. Coaching, I think they're better. And Wemby would be the best player on the floor. Shea would be the best player on the floor. I agree. I agree.

1:07:25Shannon Sharpe:Spurs said, Ocho, need a backwood, man. That big-ass cigar.

1:07:31Joe Johnson:I don't do no backwoods, my boy. I don't smoke no weed. I'm a cigar connoisseur since 1991, and that's all it's going to ever be.

1:07:42Shannon Sharpe:Unk sounds like you've been doing some high-calorie snorkeling. Nah. Huh? Can you give us your workout splits and diets when you were in your physical prime? Oh, yeah, I can tell you that. I can tell you that. Huh? Ocho was eating McDonald's. Huh?

1:08:00Joe Johnson:Hey. you know I still matter of fact I've been out here playing running around up and down you know not getting tired and I've been eating soul food the entire time matter of fact I got me a nice little jar let me show you they gave me a little for being a good customer you see this hey Uncle Joe what is that they gave me a shirt and hat at Nana Morrison's

1:08:26Shannon Sharpe:oh did they

1:08:27Joe Johnson:what did you have what did you get to eat oh oh oh oh man two two two uh fried chicken legs two legs macaroni and cheese candy yams today i had greens yesterday i had green beans the day before that i had the sweet water cornbread i had the same thing yams macaroni and cheese and greens and uh my tropical punch i didn't i didn't drink all my tropical punch i had two of them but yeah man i didn't been there every day you like drumsticks huh you like drumsticks oh yeah i like drumstick it remind me of a woman's thigh. Huh? Yes, sir. Okay. Yeah. Hey, you know, I asked for a little job up there, too, Joe, so I'll start tomorrow.

1:09:09You start tomorrow?

1:09:11Joe Johnson:Yeah, I'm going to work at anybody in North Carolina, y 'all come on down to Nana Morrison's. I'm going to be working the dough from 3 to 5, and you get 50 % off your meal.

1:09:20Shannon Sharpe:Damn.

1:09:21Joe Johnson:3 to 5. Hey, uh, nah, I'm more of a

1:09:25Shannon Sharpe:wing and a short thigh guy.

1:09:27Joe Johnson:Okay. Oh, you like short women. Okay, I got you. I got you. I got you.

1:09:33Shannon Sharpe:Just been here. My workout split, I ate oatmeal. Ate a cup and a half of oatmeal. Three egg whites and a whole egg. Go work out for an hour on the track. Come home. Eat chicken, rice. Something green. Get up. take a have a shake go work out come home eat another chicken some protein green beans uh broccoli

1:10:14Joe Johnson:that was it see that's too damn much man hey joe you heard all that yeah i heard i'm a chicken and fish guy myself i don't really do a whole lot of uh especially when i was playing i didn't do a whole lot of carbs and all that i mean i would eat some from time to time but i was a protein and veggie guy okay it keep you it kept me lean yeah so you you you eating fibrous carbs yeah but

1:10:38Shannon Sharpe:i because but the all that running i'm doing i need i need some i need some complex yeah because i didn't want to i didn't want to burn through my muscle yeah so uh but i ate plenty of protein, fibrous carbs, complex carbs. I didn't really do a whole, I mean, the only time I really ate fruit was in my protein shake. So I would do like black, I would do blueberries or something like that, bananas.

1:11:04Joe Johnson:What? Somebody in the chat say, y 'all eat like hyenas.

1:11:16Shannon Sharpe:A.Z. giving Bill the Aces in a first start. Wings have something special brewing with that team. They absolutely do, man. They absolutely do. They got some bucket genders now. They do. The problem that they have, and it didn't show his head tonight, is rebounding. Because when you start three guards, obviously you're going to be at a disadvantage, Joe. Yeah. Now you get the advantage on getting up and down and being able to spread the floor and getting stuff quick. But when you go inside and they can pound your ass inside, it's going to be tough. Whoa, pause, pause, pause. Pound you inside? What are we talking about?

1:11:52Shannon Sharpe:Pause, God damn, huh? Here you go. When you get posted up, when you get posted up, and look, Stewie, I mean, they did a good job. They've already beaten the Liberty. But, you know, Stewie and Jonquil Jones, they can post. Obviously, Asia can post. we'll see how this thing play out. But right now, they're playing with a lot of confidence, and they're playing really, really well. They're playing some good basketball. Thanks. Ocho, how's it looking for my Saints this year? Am I delusional for thinking we can win the NFC South?

1:12:29Shannon Sharpe:I mean, Tyler Shook played really, really well towards the end of the year. Very well. So that's something that you don't have to address this year as you have in years past coming into the season. the quarterback play.

1:12:43Shannon Sharpe:Olave was able to stay healthy, played really well. Let's see if Kamara can stay healthy and give them some production. But I don't know about the division.

1:12:58Joe Johnson:I don't know. Is Alvin going to be there?

1:13:02Shannon Sharpe:Well, he right there right now. He might be a June 1st, a post-June 1st cut. I haven't heard anything, but I guess we're gonna find out here shortly.

1:13:19Shannon Sharpe:Tokyo Drift Money. W, Johnny Quest shirt told my dad that show needs a movie. I used to love Johnny Quest. Y 'all used to watch Johnny Quest on Saturdays? Yeah. The pictures of Johnny Quest?

1:13:32Joe Johnson:I don't remember that.

1:13:33Shannon Sharpe:I don't remember that. God damn.

1:13:39Shannon Sharpe:Did y 'all even watch cartoons? Yeah, yeah, I did. Or just, so let me guess, y 'all just watch Bugs Bunny? Nah, Bugs Bunny, Flintstones. What about, what, Tom and Jerry came on every day. I ain't watch Tom and Jerry on Saturday, I watch Tom and Jerry came on every day. What about the Jetsons? The Jetsons, I just said that. I just said that. What was the Jetsons, what's their name, Ocho?

1:14:02Joe Johnson:The Flintstones, I don't remember that. I can't remember that. The Jetsons. The Stones. He-Man. Damn, what was his name? George. George Jetson, obviously.

1:14:15Shannon Sharpe:Jane, Judy, Elroy, the dog name was Astro. Elroy, I remember that. That man locked in. That man know every damn thing on there. Hey, hey, Joe, I bet, hey. Boy, Saturday, I'm getting them cartoons in. But you know, cartoons was a thing. You didn't watch no cartoons every day. The only cartoon that really came on every day was Tommy Jerry. but all the other cartoons, the really, really good cartoons came on Saturday. And they came on about 7, 7, 7.30. By noon they gone, they gone for the rest of the week. But then about that time, that thing got you ready for soon. The hip, this trip in America.

1:14:51Yeah, yeah.

1:14:51Joe Johnson:With your host. Hey, Scooby Doo. Hey, remember the Thundercats? What about Road Runner? Me, me. Yeah, Road Runner. Yeah, all that.

1:15:04Shannon Sharpe:Space Ghost, the Halls of Justice. Woody Woodpecker. Y 'all remember Woody Woodpecker? Yeah. Hey, Woody. Yeah. Yeah. Uh-huh. In European football, refs issue cards for simulation. So if a player over-exaggerates a file, he or she is carded. I think basketball needs something similar. What'd you think? What'd you talking about for like the excessive filing or flopping? No, for excessive for flopping and trying to sell a call. Yeah. Well, man, they claim they supposed to be finding guys for all this flopping.

1:15:38Joe Johnson:They ain't finding nobody. They ain't finding nothing. Yeah, and soccer, they do that, Joe. If you try to get a foul, you know, inside the 18 so you can get a penalty kick. Yeah. You simulate like he really tripped you and he didn't. Yeah. You flop, you get a yellow. Damn. Same thing in open play. If you do it anywhere on the field trying to get a call and it's just egregious, you're getting a yellow.

1:16:05y 'all remember mighty man in yuck who mighty man y 'all saw a dog house over his head

1:16:12Joe Johnson:now i remember mighty mouse i don't know about no mighty man

1:16:20Shannon Sharpe:jabber jaw do y 'all remember jabber jaw no i don't oh come on man y 'all ain't watching the chat they ain't watching no cartoons they ain't watching no cartoon chat hey the only

1:16:29Joe Johnson:The only thing I know, cartoon I know started with a J is Johnny Bravo. I don't know about no Jabba Jaw. I ain't never heard of that. They don't even know nothing about no Jabba Jaw.

1:16:38Shannon Sharpe:Jabba Jaw the talking shot? Nah. Oh my God. I'm done with y 'all. I can't, I can't, y 'all don't know nothing about it. Hey, Shea and fingernails are nice, but the Spurs are kicking it. They're kicking that ish. They had a good game, game six. I told y 'all they held it. it was gonna be hard for OKC to win that game six in San Antonio. But back in OKC game seven? Yeah. They gonna get it, Joe? They gonna get it done, Uncle Ocho. Ocho, you wanna bend something on game seven?

1:18:21Joe Johnson:Ooh, Lord, Jesus. I'm going to Brazil. Matter of fact, when I go to Brazil, I want to live in the favelas.

1:18:27Shannon Sharpe:No, I don't try to live there. I want a little plusher accommodations than the favela. You trying to go to Brazil. I don't think there's anything wrong with the favelas, but I kind of lived like that when I was growing up, so I'm good. I'm cool on that. Yeah.

1:18:42Joe Johnson:Yeah, I'm good. I'm trying to go.

1:18:44Shannon Sharpe:What you want, Joe? Dominican or Colombia? I'm going to Colombia. Damn. Yeah. Oh Lord. Where you going?

1:18:53Joe Johnson:I'm going to play soccer. Y 'all, y 'all got to have that.

1:18:56Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. I'm going to play golf. Uh, Colombia, Brazil. I'm going to do some yoga in Colombia. I know. Yeah. Oh man. Damn. It's, I need a coin.

1:19:10Shannon Sharpe:Hold on. George, George, give me a coin, George. Give me that. All right. All right, chat. Heads, I'm going to Colombia. Tails, I'm going to Brazil.

1:19:27Shannon Sharpe:Brazil it is.

1:19:29Joe Johnson:Hey, you can come stay with me in the favela. No, I won't go party, doing nothing with you. We're going to play footy all day.

1:19:36Shannon Sharpe:I don't know you. No.

1:19:39Joe Johnson:We're going to play footy all day.

1:19:40Shannon Sharpe:You will be doing some crazy stuff over there, man. You already know it.

1:19:44Joe Johnson:You good, you good. First of all, you'll end up getting us bad. No, I know everybody over there. You good. You good. I mean, hey, I'm introducing you to Vinny. I'm gonna meet, I mean, you gonna meet a Neymar, you know? Hey, the Columbia boy, Joe, Joe,

1:19:57Shannon Sharpe:you boy at the Columbia, now. Yeah, I already know it. Hey, hey, hey, I mean. What is this about the Brazilian? I don't know what it is. Yeah, you know what it is. You know what it is. I know what it is.

1:21:53Shannon Sharpe:Joe, what you want? You want math, black history, or geography? Give me black history.

1:22:03Shannon Sharpe:Man, they give Joe the toughest ones, man.

1:22:10Shannon Sharpe:Yo, nightcap Friday. Today on the East Coast is my 21st birthday. They happy to celebrate with you guys. Unk, will you go to a Golden Knights game since you're back in the Stanley Cup final? No. Nah, his ass ain't going. But I do like hockey. I went to a couple of Rangers games. Actually, I went to, not the Avalanche, before the Avalanche, they used to have a hockey team in Denver before the Avalanche actually came. I think they were called the Grizzlies. like a semi-pro hockey team. Look it up. I think that's what they were called. I like, you know, I like hockey, but I like it. It's better in person than it is on TV.

1:22:56Shannon Sharpe:I tell you that. Yeah. But happy 21st birthday, bro. Big 2-1, there's a lot of things you can do, but I advise you there's a lot of things that you shouldn't do. Just because you can, that don't mean you should. Yes, sir. What's up, guys? if a woman asks you out on a date she paid to get your hair cut she paid to dinner does that mean you you got to shake the covers hey yeah yeah you guys yeah it's such a rarity yeah i'm willing to

1:23:28Joe Johnson:pay especially in this time in this era when it comes to dealing with women where they're looking for a provider you find one willing to do everything in the beginning up front yeah you You might wanna go ahead and keep that one, young girl. Yeah, but you gonna damn sure have to shake the covers if you doing all that. Yeah, yeah. Or know your worth and make her wait. Huh? Huh? Oh, know your worth, do them how they do us.

1:23:54Shannon Sharpe:You already done told me, you told me they be doing it on the first date. And I'll tell you about where them women at that be doing it like that.

1:24:01Joe Johnson:Oh, you know, it depends on - On the first date? Yeah, oh yeah. If something won't make you wait, it depends on who you are. But I'm saying, don't you like to work for it a little bit? You don't really, you know, if she give it to you, if she give it to you on the first date, you kind of lose a little respect for it. We just keep it. I don't lose nothing, because life's hard enough.

1:24:18Shannon Sharpe:If I like you, it could be the first date. If I don't like you, it could be a month. It could be six months. Nah, nah, nah, man. First date, first time y 'all hang out, she come up out for it. Y 'all, nah, y 'all, y 'all trip.

1:24:33Joe Johnson:Hey, ain't nothing like a woman knowing what she want. Joe, what we playing the waiting game for like we ain't asking? We ain't playing no waiting game. You know, some people. How long are you trying to wait, Joe? I don't know. You know, when I'm vibing, if I'm vibing, okay, Ocho, I ain't necessarily, you know, I ain't necessarily got to get the draw. You know what I mean? Like, we can have fun. Okay, what have you been talking?

1:24:54Shannon Sharpe:What have y 'all been talking? Y 'all hadn't gone out, but y 'all been talking on the phone for like two, three months. And then when y 'all go out, y 'all already said this boom, boom, boom, boom, and then it happened. You cool with that? That's different. That's a buildup right there. They build up. Okay, okay, okay, now we talking. Now we talking, okay.

1:25:08Joe Johnson:Let that thing build up. Hey Joe, I ain't got time for all them damn theatrics, man. What you trying to do? I wanna know if, hey listen Joe, I wanna know if I'm gonna be around for the long term because if we wait three to six months and we get to, you know, whatever it is, and it's trash, I'm gonna be mad for wasting all this goddamn time. Hey, so you - Wasting, playing around? You pulling out all your tricks the first night? What trick, man, I'm, man. Man, it's time to play. You know that man, hey.

1:25:37Shannon Sharpe:You know that man.

1:25:38Joe Johnson:Hey, Joe. That man eat at everybody's house and off everybody's plate. I ain't doing all that. But listen, Joe, my reputation speaks for itself. You hear me?

1:25:48Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, yeah. Unfortunately, it ain't good when it comes to that.

1:25:51Joe Johnson:Yeah, man. I ain't got time to be playing. I'm just being honest. Hey, Joe, all that waiting and all that's going on. Hey, guess what? You know, all that is performative, Joe. I don't want to be performing. Oh, Joe, if she'll do it on the first night here, she'll do it on the eighth night. Hey, who are you in a rush for? I ain't in no rush.

1:26:08Shannon Sharpe:If you do it the first night, I'm trying to get the eight in a row then. And I'm trying to be like the 60 Celtics. Eight in a row. I'm glad you told me that, Joe.

1:26:24Joe Johnson:Hey, Joe, all that waiting, man, all that, man, you know, when you're young, you know, when you're young and they telling you, you know, if you wait, you got to make the guy wait and it don't mean nothing because no no longer how long you wait huh joe it will never change the outcome whether a guy wants to be there or whether he wants to leave it it don't matter because some people had one night stands and they got married some women have made a guy wait six months and when he got what he wanted he gone

1:26:52i understand that with you i just think you know i know you know you're all a little freaky so i I don't know.

1:26:59Shannon Sharpe:I get it this. What you mean how you get it? Joe, I gave you the scenario is that what if this is a buildup? You meet somebody, y 'all talk, it don't happen. Y 'all talk in every, so okay, so you talk in September. You talk in October. You see somebody late November, and then you like, y 'all get together and it's like, boom. Oh yeah, we shaking the covers. Yeah, I get that part. Yeah, I get that. Well, Ocho act like he can't wait. He meet on the first night. He gotta go ham.

1:27:26Joe Johnson:What are you waiting for? What's the point? What's the end goal? The end goal is always that. Nah, damn. Ocho, I can't get to know her and see what type of person she is. Like, I may not. Because she front for me the first night. She lying. Yeah.

1:27:42Shannon Sharpe:I'm trying to know her inside out.

1:27:48Joe Johnson:Joe. Joe, you hear me? What? Joe, when you first meet somebody, right, they put their best foot forward. They lying. They lying. represent it's they representative they lying it's their representative yeah you know i ain't got time listen listen miss you ain't got to do all that you ain't got to do all that look i'm gonna be here what you trying to do huh what you need paid huh let's get this out the way i ain't got time to be playing hey i'm grown okay what you need how many kids you got because you got to have two if you ain't got at least two kids i can't deal with you no way you need a season huh she gotta be i need you seasoned and right yeah yeah what you trying to do yeah okay I ain't got time for all of you.

1:28:28Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, Joe. I ain't on that with Ocho. I ain't on that with Ocho. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you with Ocho. I don't know. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, Joe, you know what? Joe, I grew up in the 70s. Hey, I'm the 70s. We slow, I slow walk. Yeah, okay. I slow walk. But she told me, she like, hey, so you know me, Joe, I'm playing it like Joe, Ocho. Yeah. Play it like Joe, you know, cool, you know, all that. Boom, boom, boom. She's like, hey, you know why I'm here. I know why I'm here, what you doing? I said, nah, you know, stop playing. We young. Yeah, yeah. Hey Joe, hey, you thought I was in the NBA.

1:29:18Shannon Sharpe:Then put away sweat, Joe.

1:29:21Joe Johnson:Hey, you know what, Joe, like, hey, you know what? Joe like when he meets somebody, like how it happened in the movies.

1:29:28Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, that's how Joe is. Joe, he on a holiday, on Hallmark movie act.

1:29:34Joe Johnson:Yeah, man, ain't anybody trying to do all that that bull job you talking about, man. All this performative, hey, he like the movie, what's it, like Pretty Woman. Hey, hey. Diner. I ain't gonna give you nothing on the first night. I wanna show you a good time first. Hey, Ocho, I want to know if she got a good head on her shoulder, okay? What? We're going to find out that shortly.

1:30:01I knew I ain't going to find out that by asking no questions.

1:30:14Joe Johnson:Talk about me. I want to see if she got a good head on her shoulder, man.

1:30:18Shannon Sharpe:Man, if we move the eye and fooling with you, please have someone tell Ocho Hyper Ass that Raleigh is pronounced Raleigh, not Raleigh. Damn, Ocho.

1:30:28Joe Johnson:It's called Raleigh. The people that actually live here in Raleigh, the newscasters, even they have said it's Raleigh, and it sounds much better. With all due respect for the capital of North Carolina, it will be Raleigh from now on.
