In short

The hosts debate Miami Dolphins’ 2026 outlook (they’re projected as underdogs in all 17 games), what that means for the 2027 draft (win total, potential No. 1 pick), and whether the Dolphins would take elite receiver Jeremiah Smith or a quarterback like Arch Manning. They also discuss New England Patriots star corner Christian Gonzalez still being unsigned, compare him to Steelers corner Joey Porter Jr., and argue about whether the Patriots will eventually pay them. Later segments shift to NFL off-field/legal news (Seahawks QB Terrian Arnold on the commissioner’s exempt list) and NBA commentary (Big Baby Davis accusing others after prison).

Guests (hosts)

Jordan Brooks (Dolphins defensive leader/captain) is quoted in the episode; Christian Gonzalez and Joey Porter Jr. are discussed as player subjects, not guests. No other named guests appear.

Key claims

Dolphins are underdogs in every game; Dolphins’ overhaul is “from scratch” but with a young QB and receivers; defense must overperform. Patriots’ history suggests they may delay/pay less than market for corners, but Gonzalez likely gets done before the season. Arnold won’t play due to felony allegations; exempt list still pays.

Notable examples

Jeremiah Smith vs Arch Manning; Patriots letting top corners walk (Tylo, Asante Samuel, “Johnson”); Steelers/Philly corner value comparisons; Big Baby Davis naming names after prison.

2:41Shannon Sharpe:The Miami Dolphins are underdogs in all 17 of the games this season. The Dolphins projected win total for 2026, four and a half games. The early marks have them selected number one in 2027. Jordan Brooks says, I don't think there's one outlet on social media. Anybody that got us picked win anything. Not that it matters, but that's just what it is. I don't think any of our opponents respect us. So 100 % underdog mindset, and I think that's always the best position to be in. Ocho.

3:10Joe Johnson:Yeah.

3:10Shannon Sharpe:How many win for your guffies?

3:12Joe Johnson:I say, honestly, I'm going to be honest with you, Uncle Joe. Chad, I'm going to be honest with y 'all. You have to understand the Dolphins have done a complete overhaul. Complete overhaul. We started from scratch. So, obviously, I'm hoping to give the coach.

3:25Shannon Sharpe:Y 'all didn't even start from scratch. Y 'all got to go buy the ingredients.

3:30Joe Johnson:That's a good way to put it. Now, this is the good thing, though, Unc. What's that? Even though we got to go buy the ingredients, the foundation is set. We got our quarterback. We got a quarterback. We got some good young receivers. but they have to play miles ahead of how good they may feel they are. You definitely got to play above their pay grade, Ocho. You got to. Y 'all got to play like them dogs out there. So it's going to be a rough season. Defense is going to have to play well. I know Brooks is obviously our leader. He's our captain on defense, but it's going to be tough. And I like that he said it's good for us to be the underdogs because now we have to surprise everybody else.

4:06Joe Johnson:We got to surprise everybody else. I got y 'all winning two games, Ocho. God damn Joe I would finna say I would call with four maybe five maybe five five? yeah I got five I got five and if we do get the number one pick we gonna get Jeremiah Smith

4:23Shannon Sharpe:maybe five in two years

4:28Shannon Sharpe:yeah that was that was my next question you want Jeremiah Smith or you want Arch Manning Jeremiah Smith

4:37Shannon Sharpe:Jeremiah Smith who you want who you want if you Miami I mean, who do you get? It's going to be hard because I took a quarterback. I mean, I just played a quarterback. I got a quarterback on a three-year deal. The question is, it's going to be very interesting to see how well he plays. If he plays well, I think they do go. I think they take Jeremiah Smith. But, boy, you got to think about it, Ocho. We had had – it ain't where two wide receivers have ever gone number one overall. Yeah. 1984 and 1996. Keyshawn, yeah. Irvin Frye went number one in 84 and Keyshawn went number one in 96.

5:09Joe Johnson:Yeah. Hey, hey, hey, Jeremiah, hey, he going to be next. Hey, Joe, and the chat, I think the chat will also just agree with me as well. If you take last year's draft, right? If Jeremiah was coming out last year, I think he's going top three. If Jeremiah was coming out.

5:25Shannon Sharpe:Well, he's definitely been the first receiver taken. Yeah, absolutely. So wherever the first receiver went, I don't think he's going – he ain't going number one overall. He ain't going in front of Mendoza. Raiders need a quarterback. Right, right, absolutely. They need a receiver too, but I ain't taking no receiver when I ain't got nobody getting the damn ball. You're right.

5:40Joe Johnson:But I'm just saying, he's that good. Yeah, for sure. Freshman year, if he was allowed to come out, Joe, I still would have been the top three pick. That's how good he's been. So now with him in his junior year, off to a great start already. Man, come on, man. That's a no-brainer to me, especially if you just got Malik Willis. It's a no-brainer.

6:02Shannon Sharpe:It's going to be interesting to see what the Dolphins do. Kyle Shanahan, speaking from Australia, was ask for uh injury updates take a listen to what Kyle had to say

6:13Joe Johnson:is that coming back from from injuries um because we're technically in the future from where we're from um the Rams run the president i want to talk about injuries still tomorrow

6:32Joe Johnson:wait who's injury they talk about huh teams their own injuries. Oh. Well, everybody should be healthy not going into week one, huh? Shh. Yeah.

6:45Shannon Sharpe:Kyle also said he was disappointed that the NFL let the Rams off the hook by taking away a 49ers home game at SoFi. He believed the Rams wanted to send their home game versus the 49ers to Australia in order to prevent the faith from overtaking SoFi again. Kyle throwing shots at the Super Bowl favorites. Yeah, they do. I was at that game.

7:06Shannon Sharpe:as a matter of fact it was the year the Rams ended up going to the Super Bowl for the championship they played the 49ers and the 49ers really had the game won Matthew Stafford threw one up and the guy just flat out dropped it and they ended up going to score a touchdown but it was probably 70-30 49er fans to the Rams fans if you go in that building the visitors always have more fans than the Rams. Why is that? Because everybody from Los Angeles is transports. They're not from L.A. Most people that go to the games, they're not from L.A. I watched Buffalo come in there and do it. I watched San Fran do it.

7:47Shannon Sharpe:I've seen a couple of games there. I think the Titans I think I saw the Titans play there. The Titans did it. Cowboys probably did it. Oh man, the Cowboys. Do they?

8:00Joe Johnson:Oh my goodness. I think the The Cowboys, the Eagles, and the Steelers probably travel the best out of any NFL team. Any. They will take over your stadium. Ocho, you talk about the Steelers. I seen the Steelers come to Atlanta. Oh, yeah. And take over the A, bro. Hey, they don't play. Them Steelers, they travel, bro. For real. Very well. Ooh.

8:28Shannon Sharpe:They're traveling.

8:29Joe Johnson:Bengals travel well, too. No, they don't.

8:31Shannon Sharpe:To Cincinnati.

8:33Joe Johnson:Nuh-uh. I tell you this, right? I tell you this, right? We play Tampa Bay first at home this week. This week coming out. Yeah. Next weekend, we in Houston. Yes. Guarantee you the Bengals take over – what's the name of the Houston stadium?

8:50Shannon Sharpe:MPG something.

8:51Joe Johnson:They probably changed the name. They changed the name or it's Synergy. I think it's MPG. Whatever it is.

8:58Shannon Sharpe:Y 'all ain't taking over Houston.

9:00Joe Johnson:We finna take, I guarantee you, the Bengals take over Houston Stadium. Watch. Oh, my goodness. Watch. And that's no disrespect to the team.

9:10Shannon Sharpe:Y 'all ain't got no fan base like that, Ocho. Y 'all don't. Yes, we do. No, you don't.

9:16Joe Johnson:Okay.

9:16Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, y 'all only got 60 ,000 fans. Y 'all see, y 'all one of the smallest stadiums in the NFL.

9:22Joe Johnson:We're not the smallest. We see 65 ,000. We see 65 ,000. How many, what difference is it? How many in my house is? 77. Huh?

9:32Shannon Sharpe:We've been sold out. I mean, Broncos been sold out since the 70s.

9:35Joe Johnson:Hold on. Yeah, since the 70s because y 'all, listen, we are a rebuilding team, huh? Rebuilding what? We just started winning. We just started winning since 88. We just started back winning consistently. Obviously, Andy Dalton, you know, took us to a few playoffs. We didn't win the big game. 2021, we went to the Super Bowl with Joe. you know when we trying to get things back going but we've been selling out too now don't do that

10:04Shannon Sharpe:the Broncos we travel I know Broncos travel better than you guys that's for sure I don't know about that well you know it ain't nothing to do in Denver so it's different what you mean ain't nothing to do when was the last time you heard somebody say I'm going on vacation I'm going to Cincinnati hey if you look at all the stuff Cincinnati has Ohio they go to Colorado all the time You want to go snowing where you gonna go in the United States? That's got better snowing in Colorado. You didn't hear me though.

10:31Joe Johnson:What if you look at all that Cincinnati has to offer now The way the city has been built up we in 2026. So you living off what Denver was in the past We just went to the playoffs last year. I went to the championship game We see you talk about the team talk about the city in general and what the city has to offer Man, Denver, boy, look here. It ain't even close. Denver can't touch Cincinnati.

10:54Shannon Sharpe:Y 'all think Cincinnati is a better city than Denver, Colorado? I don't. I personally don't. I like Denver. Denver nice, Ocho. I'm sorry. See, Joe, you like Denver. Those breathtaking views. You can look out and see the mountains. It's so clear. You can look at Aspen and Breckenridge. Steam, Old Springs, Vail.

11:17Joe Johnson:Y 'all will never know what breathtaking view is until you take a drive down 71, driving through Lexington with all the beautiful grass and the horses. First of all, that's not Cincinnati. That's Kentucky. That's Ohio. It's still Ohio. It's 45 minutes down the road. And Cincinnati is beautiful.

11:33Shannon Sharpe:Let me ask you a question. So if I were to have something said to me in Cincinnati, is it going to come to me in Kentucky? No.

11:41Joe Johnson:I mean, the only thing that separates us is the water and the bridge.

11:46Shannon Sharpe:Cincinnati is not as picturesque. It's not as scenic as Denver, Colorado. Depends on the eyes that it, that it better.

11:55Joe Johnson:Unless you drunk. Well, you got, you ain't got one of that cyclops. I can see. I can see. Hey, help me, man. Help me get my cataract surgery now. You need to go ahead and get it. I don't know who to go to. You can't just go to anybody.

12:12Shannon Sharpe:Go to an eye doctor. Go to an ophthalmologist.

12:15Joe Johnson:You can't just go to anybody. I need the top of the line. Do you have to ask your question? Call the bingos.

12:25Shannon Sharpe:That's a good one. They'll do that for me. Yes. Okay. The dolphins. Call the dolphins. You know what? Ask who they would recommend.

12:35Joe Johnson:They'll do that.

12:36Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, they should. Yes, absolutely.

12:39Joe Johnson:Hey, I ain't never coming outside no more, man. Look at this, man. What happened, bro? Bugs. Mosquito. Yeah, a dung beetle. They flying for the lights. I just want to sit outside and smoke.

12:53Shannon Sharpe:A dung beetle. When you're moving like I do, trips don't always come together weeks in advance. 15:43Joe Johnson:Yeah. Yeah. They keep hitting me in the head.

15:48Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, because they know you're full of caca. That's why you see it, they keep hitting me in the head. That's why. The New England Patriots still have not been able to get a deal done with star Christian Gonzalez. Ocho, are you more surprised that Christian Gonzalez or Joey Porter Jr. are still unsigned?

16:11Joe Johnson:Actually, both of them. Actually, both of them. You have to understand those are the key pieces to your defense. Yeah. Christian Gonzalez and how well he's played against some of the top receivers in the game today. Played really well against everyone he's faced. You can do more with him defensively on the field. I think also the same thing with Joey Porter Jr. over there, you know, with the Steelers. Yeah. He is identifiably what playing DB at the Steelers position or playing for the Steelers is all about. He's everything, you know, when it comes to being a good DB. And I like that he plays man-to-man, Joe.

16:46Joe Johnson:Yeah. Always up in your face. Plays really well, you know, playing against some of those good receivers in the division, including Chase as well. But it's tough, especially when it comes to this business and the timing of when it's time to get paid. It sucks. It sucks when players at the upper echelon of their position have to fight and scrawl and cratch for what they deserve. Do you think those guys get compensated or get their contracts taken care of before the season starts, Ocho? Yeah, I believe so. Both of them? Yeah, absolutely. They have to. Because, I mean, that defense, especially over there with the Steelers, you understand how important Joey Porter Jr.

17:31Joe Johnson:is. You understand. Obviously, they have Asante Samuel Jr. who's on the opposite side of him. I'm not sure who the number three is. Whoever the number three is, is playing in Joey Porter's position right now. But you need him. You need him for that offense to go. Christian Gonzalez, I think his deal will get done before the game starts. And I've seen it happen before. Yeah. Right before a game starts, Joe. Yeah. All of a sudden, they'll come across the ticker before the game starts. Said player gets his deal done. and it makes you happy. It makes you happy and you go out there and play. And right now, I don't want those two players to have to be worried about their contract situations while trying to play football because that's a distraction.

18:10Joe Johnson:It's also a slap in the face. For one, you have to be arguing and fussing and waiting on your money. Your player's already done the talking. So now this is how y 'all feel about me? I got to wait?

18:22Shannon Sharpe:What does New England history tell you? They let Tylo walk. Yes. They let Asante Samuel walk. Yes. They let Johnson walk. Mm-hmm. What does that tell you? Top corners, Pro Bowl corners. Yes. They let them walk. Yeah. They have a number that they normally – and I'm not saying – I'm just going by their history. History, yes. I'm not saying they're not going to get a deal done, but the Patriots are like, we've got a number in mind. Mm-hmm. We might give you a little leeway over that number. Right. i don't think they want to go to 30 34 million dollars for a corner but they had no idea this

18:59Joe Johnson:market was going to explode like it did yeah hold on that it's not about the market exploding right okay let's say the market does explode well it's exploded but listen but you also had no idea you'd have a top three corner in the nfl either well i think they thought gonzalez was going to be really

19:15Shannon Sharpe:really good because they they they they they identified him uh and he's been he's been and the thing is what i don't get is that you draft a guy that high you think so highly of him and he plays exactly like you thought he would play now you don't want to pay him or or maybe we're gonna pay you we're gonna pay you gonna make you wait a little bit so we can make sure the books are right but they don't like to play top dollar ojo they don't remember when Randy asked for top dollar? What did they do? Even with Tom, they didn't even give Tom top dollar. You know why? Because for the longest time Tom took a hometown discount.

19:58Shannon Sharpe:And they would tell you, I can't pay you more than Brady. So now they've adopted that philosophy. They don't want to pay top dollar. They paid Richard Seymour top dollar, ended up trading him. Got rid of Logan Mankins. Go back and look. Just study the Patriots. Yeah. And just coming off the Super Bowl. Come on, man.

20:21Joe Johnson:Yeah, hey, Joe. He's a big piece of that puzzle defensively, man. I don't see how they don't get it done. I think they will get it done, and I guarantee you it'll be one of those contracts that get done right before the game starts. Yeah. Always. You can't fault him for playing good. You drafted him high for a reason, huh?

20:42Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

20:42Joe Johnson:Now if he was under playing Then okay now you got a story

20:47Shannon Sharpe:The only guy that they really paid In free agency And that was to get Stephon Gilmore

20:52Joe Johnson:Yeah oh hey Steph He's coming out for what defensive player of the year One defensive player of the year

20:57Shannon Sharpe:They signed him away from Buffalo But their players They'd be like You're going to make some money because we're going to go to Super Bowls And you're going to be advertising You're going to be in commercials No that's Tom Brady that's probably grump right that ain't happening that ain't happening nobody on defense over there right right so i'm not surprised that i don't i don't really know a whole i don't know the situation with joy for the junior but just knowing the history of the patriots and how they operate i am not surprised that christian gonzalez hasn't gotten signed yet especially now somebody's going to go to 33 million Spoon is going to 33 million and he's going to want to get north of that for a corner

21:44Joe Johnson:he has to I get it the way he's played he has to but

21:53Shannon Sharpe:just knowing how the Patriots operate and like I said it was a blessing and a curse because what Brady did is that he suppressed his own team's market that's why they wouldn't pay nobody Yeah. That's why they wouldn't pay. They wouldn't pay. Because the best player in the NFL is giving us a hometown. He's giving us better than a hometown. He giving us a family discount. Yeah. You work at certain places, the family get a better discount. Yeah. That's what Brady was giving the Patriots. He's giving them a family discount.

22:26Joe Johnson:Big time.

22:26Shannon Sharpe:So anybody else say, Joe, I want to get paid. I want some money. You see what we're playing, Brady?

22:32Joe Johnson:Yeah.

22:34Shannon Sharpe:playing him peanuts.

22:35Joe Johnson:Well, listen, it's a good time.

22:37Shannon Sharpe:Well, we're not going to give you the peanuts. We're going to give you the shells. At least we playing him peanuts. Go ahead, JoJo.

22:43Joe Johnson:This is the thing. Drake May is still on his riggedy contract, Uncle Joe. So this is the perfect time you want to take care of your number one DB, who's the top three defense back in the league. Joey Porter Jr. I understand him having to scrawl and crash for his money. Yeah, look what he did to Cam Hayward. Cam been there for a while, you know? Joey Portis on his rookie contract. He's outplayed that contract. Pay the man what he's worth. Because you can do more with him on the field than you can without him.

23:17Shannon Sharpe:What you thinking, Joe? Which one of them get paid first? I think Gonzalez get paid first. I'm just thinking, I'm like Ocho, man. He played an intricate part in what they do defensively, Ocho. and considering the fact that they're coming out for Super Bowl, I mean, I'm sure they're looking to get back to that after adding A.J. You can't compromise your defense now and not have Gonzalez out there. No, you can't. Now, Pittsburgh, hey, look, I don't know. I don't know if Porter going – I don't know. I worry about Pittsburgh sometimes.

24:01Joe Johnson:Hey, listen, they making a fuss about Porter getting his money. They making a fuss with them individually. That ain't nothing. Whatever they get, you know who finna supersede that next year? Young bull out there in Philly, LaKeon Mitchell.

24:19Shannon Sharpe:They got two of them. DeJuan, you do realize in the top 100, Cooper DeJuan ranked higher than Quignon Mitchell. Yeah. Did you see that?

24:27Joe Johnson:Yeah. Did you know that, Ocho? He's a little bit more valuable though. Keyon Mitchell's a little bit more valuable. I like what this is about to do. So how you playing?

24:34Shannon Sharpe:You play both of your D tackles. How you pay both of your corners?

24:37Joe Johnson:You only paying one of them. Mm. And you're paying 27. I can tell you that right now.

24:47Joe Johnson:Hey, listen, that's a good problem to have. No, it ain't. You don't think so?

24:52Shannon Sharpe:Hell no. I just want one. Hey, because I'm going to have to lose. I'm probably going to have to lose one of them, Mocho.

24:57Joe Johnson:Yeah, you are. You are. Keon Mitchell ain't going to go nowhere. I can tell you that.

25:01Shannon Sharpe:Because you got big money tied up in Lane Johnson, Mylotta, and Dickerson. You got big money tied up in your quarterback. You got big money tied up in your running back. You got big money tied up in one of your receivers. Now you got two D tackles that you got money tied up in. Yeah. You're going to have big money tied up in two corners?

25:25Shannon Sharpe:Hey. One of them is going to have to take a substantial discount. And them boys ain't doing that? No. On the first deal? No, sir. No, I wouldn't either. I think the first deal, I got to try to get it all I can. Now, once I get past that, now I might be willing to give you a discount. But I can't give you a discount on the first go round. No, sir. Normally, if people give you a discount, after you buy a couple of cars from them. Have me buy a couple of watches. Have me buy a couple of, you know, outfits. Yeah. Need that security. That's why my granddaddy used to do that. My granddaddy used to take me and my brother shopping.

26:06Shannon Sharpe:He said, hey, man, I'm buying two suits and a shirt. I should get the tie for free.

26:13Shannon Sharpe:Oh, Barney, that ain't how we operate. All right. Hey, we done got the stuff to the counter. Hey, he going to tell me, hey, the guy won't give us the tie for free. boy take that take it back get out of here what all right Barty all right ask my brother all right Barty you get the ties for free hell man yeah you think money growing trees yeah oh yeah that's their famous saying right there I mean basically we get we get like we get like an Easter suit or something yeah we We're on Revival, running Revival, you know, Church Revival, something like that. Yeah. But my granddaddy, he drove a hard bargain.

27:04Shannon Sharpe:Hey, don't think we would be a speaker to turn around and take it right back to, all right, Barney, okay, okay, Barney, you can get the ties for free.

27:17Shannon Sharpe:Seahawks' new quarterback, Terrian Arnold, remains on the commissioner's exempt list due to eight felony charges arising from an alleged armed robbery and kidnapping. Arnold can't practice or play with the team, but Mike McDonald said he's in the building and learning. He's in the building and being a part of our program and learning the heck about a defense. Keep training, stay ready for when there's an opportunity. Arnold's next court date, excuse me, happens October the 5th. A trial hasn't been scheduled yet. Barring a plea deal, it's unlikely Arnold's case will be in before the conclusion of the 2026 season.

27:55I mean, without some kind of clarity,

28:00Shannon Sharpe:he's going to be on the commissioner's exempt list until there's something, there's some kind of conclusion. Either there's a plea, he cops a plea, they drop the charges of something. He's not playing as long as there's uncertainty around this. Right. Hey, the NFL, do y 'all think they're going to do their own suspension even if he get out of this, you think the NFL will suspend him?

28:26Joe Johnson:Yes. Yeah? You don't think they'll take into account that he's part of the team and the fact that if he missed the first four games, that will count as a suspension? No, he gets paid.

28:37Shannon Sharpe:When you're on the commissioner's exempt list, you get paid, Ocho. Okay, okay, okay. That's unfortunate for the young man.

28:46Joe Johnson:It is. Yeah. You got to clean some of them people around you now. Yeah, man. This is an eye-opener. You know, I don't... You're right. ...of the situation, but I know those... You know, those... You know, people that don't mean you well got you in this situation. Yeah. Because somebody got to put you to the side. When whatever was taken or whatever was stolen...

29:06Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

29:07Joe Johnson:...what we going to do? Let that go.

29:09Shannon Sharpe:We going to let the insurance cover it.

29:11Joe Johnson:Bingo. That's what we going to do. You go to... Somebody got to have a sense in the group. Hey, it's easy to say that now, but in the heat of the moment, fellas, hey, man. And clearly his logic was very low. He wasn't thinking about none of that. He even thinking, listen, you playing on my top? You playing on my top partner? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Y 'all finna have to pay for this. Yeah. Yo, I understand that, but that's where take people that's around you that think with logic and common sense when you not. You got to have the right people around you, man. Nah, that's not that. Twin, that's not what we do.

29:44Joe Johnson:That's not the play. That's not the play. That's what you, oh, man, look here. I mean, I'm trying to think.

29:51Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, when my house got broken into, man, it hurt me because those watches. Man, some of those watches I had because, Joe, now I go get a watch. It don't mean the same because I got money. I can go get it. Right. Those watches that I had to save up. I was making money like I was. And so now watches, they still have meaning to me, but not like the ones that I had to sacrifice that I had to wait two, three, four years to go get it. Yeah. Yeah. Now, watch within reason, I can go get it. Yeah. But I was like, man, I was like, oh, my God. My chain, my 84 necklace that my brother gave me. Now it's gone.

30:28Shannon Sharpe:My cufflinks. I mean, stuff I had for like 30 years.

30:34Shannon Sharpe:It's insured. Mm. Yeah. Don't think I don't still think about it. I still was like, man, I sure wish I had that watch, man. I mean, I mean, it already increased. I mean, they get watches. Yeah, the value is more than what the insurance would cover. How many? How many watches they get from you? 11. Damn. What?

31:04Shannon Sharpe:11 watches, a Christopher backpack, all my cuff links. I had a dog chain with my kids initial on it. So all my kids start with a K. So I had all their names on it and diamonds. They got that. My cuff leg had some diamond cuff links. They were diamond earrings. And I had them. They called the jewelry company and the jewelry company made them into cuff links. That. Yeah, it's about a million dollars. Yeah, that hurt. Damn.

31:39yep yeah i keep my stuff in the safe joe yeah yeah that's good

31:48Shannon Sharpe:learn a valuable lesson keep left up for the safe dot too

31:54Shannon Sharpe:ain't no i ain't it taught me something though cho because i used to keep cash in the house i

31:58Joe Johnson:don't keep no cash in the house now oh yeah i don't care i don't carry no cash at all boy no sir gave me a good nice little hot $100 that's it

32:10Shannon Sharpe:that broke me after that I went straight to the safety pocket box and put that money in there because they went because all the watches was like in a watch winder by my bed so they just took all the watches out of that they went through a couple of drawers if they went through one more drawer there was a box

32:35Shannon Sharpe:had like probably like quarter of a half a million it was just intended for them to get the watches the jewelry and that's it so I was like man my heart was beating so fast because I thought it was like well damn was it an earthquake why is glass everywhere it didn't really talk because I'm like and then my heart just start beating fast. So the first thing after that, I run to see, okay, where the dog? Did they take the dogs? Now, okay, I calm down a little bit and then when I see it, I'm like, where my watch is? Now it's starting to dawn on me. Broken glass, my watch is gone. Where my backpack that was sitting on the couch?

33:27Shannon Sharpe:It's gone. like damn you ain't had no cameras none damn I was leasing the house

33:38Joe Johnson:ok ok ok so

33:45Shannon Sharpe:I go in the closet and they went through a couple of drawers and the one drawer it was one more drawer the bottom right they go through that Joe all they got to do is look in there there's a box The box is out of place. Yeah, they're going to take that whole box. Would have took the whole box. Damn. I said, you know what? I went straight. That was a Friday night. That Saturday morning, I went to the safety, put it back in the safety, put the money, the cash in the safety for the box. They never know most. That's A, A, A. When somebody breaking your career, bro, and take your personal belongings, that's like a man that's a real violation bro real violation you feel so violated like in your personal space i know exactly what you feel boy

34:42Shannon Sharpe:damn well that thing hurt so bad but it was like okay the dogs i was like okay damn man because that would hurt me more than anything if they took your dogs teddy bear and baby hell yeah they probably thought you probably had a track on them they ain't taking these dogs they got chips in them so they would have got found but see if they don't take them to the vet you know some people don't take them to the vet or you have that mobile vet but if you got that chip though they gonna be able to pinpoint tell you what they have Exactly where they at, huh? Yeah. But I was like, man. Dog. That was the time I was like, man, if I'd have just left Titus out.

35:33Shannon Sharpe:But I had Titus in the pen because I had just recently got him. Titus wasn't probably for like a... He wasn't even a year old yet. Yeah. Because I had just got him in November. This happened in May. So he's about eight months old. but very valuable lesson man insurance company it's like hey they say well Mr. Sharp you know everything is covered I'm like that don't do me no good I want my stuff back yeah I want my stuff back oh well but sometimes you know we gotta be we gotta be smart about stuff and you know Joe you know when emotions are high, logic gets real, real low. Very low. Real, real, real, real, real low to the floor.

36:26Shannon Sharpe:Glenn, Big Baby Davis says going to prison was everyone else's fault, and he starts accusing several other NBA players and names them. He says it's easy for the fans and the NBA to pick on him while the rest didn't serve time in prison. Take a listen to what Glenn, Big Baby Davis, had to say. I think the feds.

37:01Is that us or him? Okay.

37:19Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

37:23Shannon Sharpe:I don't know why Glenn would do this. I don't know. The whole point of him accepting accountability for his actions is not to try to place it off on somebody else. Yep. That's the whole point. Yep. If you're truly remorseful for what you've done. Right. Me, I did what I did. It ain't about what, man, Ocho did it too. Yeah. Right. Joe and me, it was Ocho, I did it. Joe did it. Gilbert Arenas did it. This one did it. That one did it. No, I got caught. My job is to accept accountability for my actions. Right. If and when the time comes and somebody else have to give an account for their actions, that's on them.

38:16Yeah.

38:17Shannon Sharpe:It ain't my job to throw somebody up under the bus because I have, I use poor judgment. When you're moving like I do, trips don't always come together weeks in advance. Because at that point, it's not just about getting there. It's about making the most of the opportunity in front of you. That's what I like about Prime. It makes easy to say yes when the moment shows up. Same day delivery, it's on Prime. Available in select areas. Terms apply. Visit amazon.com slash prime to find millions of items delivered fast. Warning, this product is not a safe alternative to cigarettes. that's all that's the way that's the way i look at it i think the feds picked and choose who they wanted to be i think the nba let the feds pick who they wanted and choose to right because if 180 people were investigated subpoenaed we didn't hear about all those people.

41:53We just heard about the 22 people that got caught or that got jammed in a situation.

42:07Shannon Sharpe:That's enough. Don't worry about it. That's normally how it works, Ocho. If me, you, and Joe we do something I'm the faster of the three. They catch y 'all too. how you go well they just they just they just caught me and joe because we're the one that got jammed up oh you should have been faster

42:32Shannon Sharpe:so i i'm trying to figure out you they investigated okay that was the 22 people that they had the most evidence they the one thing i know about the fans they don't like to lose

42:42Joe Johnson:yeah and that's what that's what was funny funny thing that he did say uncle he said the NBA let the Fed choose. The Fed don't care about the damn NBA. Show dope. Nah, nah. What are you talking about? Hey, hey, hey. I think the current, the allegations is more about him publicly naming names after prison, questioning why others wouldn't punish like he was. You know what I mean? Like, hey, bro, you do the crime, do the time, you get out. Man, don't start naming these cats, bro. Talking about, oh, man, some of your favorite podcasters, this down and third. Hey, let it go. You done done damage done here.

43:22You done already done your time. Why you gonna try to throw somebody else under the bus? It's so wet. You mad that he mad? They ain't do no time, Joe. But it's over with, Ocho. Hey, hey, hey, hey. You already held. You look damn hot. You got a plate of hand you dealt, homie. This is what you dealt. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, man, they looked it bad. I ain't gonna lie, bro. When I seen that, I was like, oh, man. But then I try to put myself in other people's shoes, bro. I try to put myself in big baby shoes. I know he did that time. So maybe he do feel a way. Of course you will. You know what I mean? He like, hold on.

43:53All these dudes who were in on this, you mean to tell me I'm only one of the ones who really got to go do hard times? So we don't know really how he feel or what he went through in there and coming out. You know, now it's probably resurfacing to where he probably feels comfortable enough to even talk about it. But man, listen, it's just certain things that you don't do. And that's why you're going to always, when cats do stuff like this, you're going to always have to wear that jacket when they call you a snitch because you're naming names, bro. It comes with the territory.

44:25Joe Johnson:Joe, you got to understand when it comes with the territory as well, if you choose to do something knowing it's illegal, you got to stand on that because you understand the consequences if you get caught. Yes. Yeah. That's what it comes with, Joe. You have to understand that. Now, you have people that live a lifestyle of, you know what, I want to be in the streets. Now, they have their own codes. They have their own rules that you abide by. Most of the time, if you get caught based on the lifestyle that you chose, the consequences are what they are. You got to stand on that. Everybody are real, and you know what I'm trying to say, until you get caught.

45:04Joe Johnson:Well, it's good to be a real dude when you're happy, you're out there, and you're making money, and things are going well. What happens when it goes south? and it looked like 90 % of the time when it goes south, everybody fold. Listen. That's a launch here. Listen, just like we talk about in sports, we want guys and women to take accountability. Same thing here, bro. Just take accountability, man. Hey, look, I was wrong. Blase, you know, move on. But to be throwing other people under the bus, come on, bro. Come on, this ain't that.

45:36Shannon Sharpe:After the fact now, you done did the time, Nigel. because he's talking about the NBA. The fans don't care nothing about the NBA. You remember the fans cleared Tim Donahue. The NBA did. What did the fans do? The NBA cleared what's the dude's name, Joe? They just got snatched up by the fans. Beasley. What's the dude that he played with Charlotte? He was with Miami. Terry. Terry. Terry Rozier. The NBA cleared him. what the fans do come here like the Bubba Dubs say come here

46:15Shannon Sharpe:so the fans don't care nothing about no NBA the fans don't operate like under nothing the fans operate how the fans operate absolutely I'm big on accountability if I'm wrong I'm wrong I gotta be mad enough to stand on it that's one thing that Mary Porter said hey boy hey I still love you but you know hey you wrong you wrong And for him to like, if you talking to some of your boys in privacy, man, there's some other guys, I wouldn't even do that. Right. That's one thing. But to get on a podcast and to publicly say that? Yeah. That's foul. Even if those guys are my worst enemy, that ain't got nothing to do with me.

47:00Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. The fans, hey, if it slipped through the cracks, so be it. Yeah. I done did my time now. Yeah.

47:10Joe Johnson:I done did whatever

47:12Shannon Sharpe:they get, 36 months, 40 months, whatever they gave me. I already did it.

47:16Joe Johnson:Hey, when you do the crime, you got to be able to do the time. If you can't do the time, don't do it. They ain't thinking about that at that time, though, Ocho. You're talking about if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. They thinking, man, if I could get over, I'm going to get over, bro. Point blank. Yeah, now you get caught. Hey, man, you got to go sit down for a little minute. Man, don't be bringing these other folks in at this, bro.

47:42Shannon Sharpe:But the man named like 15 people, Joe.

47:51Hey, I seen y 'all.

47:52Shannon Sharpe:I don't know about that. Like I said, all I know is something had to do with some insurance or something or disability or workman's. I can't think of a name off the top of my head, guys. I hate that.

48:07Joe Johnson:Joe, you play tennis, Joe? Yeah, I played a little bit. I had got my daughter tennis lessons. Yeah. I got Ocho a couple years ago, and I was out there taking tennis lessons with her. So, you know, I learned some things that I can put to use. You know what I mean? What you think about trying to compete with me in that? No, you know, I play tennis for real, Joe. My daughter real good, bro. Cha-cha. Yeah, but that don't mean you could.

48:32Shannon Sharpe:Marla Sellis was the one that got stabbed because she was about to pass Steffi Graf. She make all that noise when she hit the ball. Yeah, she started that, hey! Yeah! Jennifer Capriotti, somebody put it in. Jennifer Capriotti, that's what it was. Man, our American women used to be good. Our American men used to be good. Yeah. Man, Federer and Djokovic and the dog burst on the scene, and they cornered it. They cornered the market. Because, look, while Pete was winning, but you still had Krawcheck. You still had Boris Becker. You still had guys that were, you know, Stephon Edberg. Yeah. Beat us, Gustavo Curtin.

49:14Shannon Sharpe:So we still had, you know, it was. But when the big three burst on the team, they cornered the market. Yeah. Ain't nobody win. Yeah, they had a good time. Towards the tail end, you started getting, you got Chilick would win one. You got Delpo. he would win one. You know, you get guys popping up. Andy Murray would win one. But Fed would win Australia. Rafa would win the French. Fed would win. The Fed would win Wimbledon. Fed would win the U.S. Open.

49:45Joe Johnson:Nadal win anything on clay.

49:47Shannon Sharpe:Boom, boom, boom. Boom, boom, boom. And then all of a sudden, that big left forehand, Nadal got good where he could win on hard courts. Yeah. Because he was damn near unbeatable. In his prime, he was damn unbeatable on clay. Yeah. Damn. But, boy, Joe, I don't know if you ever see it, but to watch Pete – because I did a celebrity thing with – it was Andre Agnes and Pete Sanfres. It was me and Goose. To watch Pete Sanfres hit that ball? Yeah. Up close? It was different. What? The average person ain't hitting that. All he's doing is sticking his racket out there. he returned he returned to that hey

50:30Joe Johnson:I think it was last year last year Miami Open at the Hard Rock you know I ain't taking my daughter obviously she's homeschooled that's how serious it is for her with tennis she's homeschooled in a camp that's strictly for tennis so she's not even going to a regular school oh she don't

50:48Shannon Sharpe:she go to voluntary school oh yeah

50:50Joe Johnson:oh yeah how old is she Ojo she's 11 now Oh, okay. Yo, she liked that joke. Yeah. Yeah, she just played in the tournament this past weekend. She came in second in that tournament. But she's really good. She's really good. And so I took her to the Miami Open last year, and I had some with the Miami Open, and I had to hit with Ben Shelton.

51:09Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

51:12Joe Johnson:He's left-handed. He has one of the fastest serves. And so we're hitting back and forth, and Ben is asking, oh, you play. I say, I played when I was growing up, but it's not something I stuck to. But I got back into it because my daughter plays now. Yeah, yeah. When she was older, I would love to be our hitting partner. And so me and Ben hitting back and forth, and I told him, let me see a serve since you probably got the fastest serve. He probably has the fastest serve in the game. I think he does. I think he hit it up like 150. He hit the damn – I didn't even see the ball go past me, man. You say he left-handed, Ojo?

51:43Joe Johnson:Left-handed. I didn't even see the ball go past me. Mind you, if you watch Ben Shelton play, when he plays, his opponent is always at the back of the fence. Yeah. They always at the back of the fence to be able to get the ball back.

51:54Shannon Sharpe:man I'm like it's levels that's how it was with the is you know when John isn't a Johnny you know John isn't a 16 yeah the crazy sir way up here yeah Dr. Eva Kolovich I mean I just like I said I just got so busy with other things now watching so many sports that I don't watch it like I used to I went to the U.S. Open to see the semifinals I saw Serena beat uh Caroline Caroline Wozniacki on Saturday night, yeah. Serena was the true boy. Oh, Serena was, Serena was, she was Serena, Serena. All right, it's time for our final segment of the evening. It's time for Q and A.

And see, this is how I break my opponent down. Chat, y 'all bear with me for a second. Then I take him to the free throw line. He already told me he can't concentrate. He can't be still. So I know if he can't do that, you can't shoot no free throw. Right.

54:05Take him to the free throw line. No, he can't make no free throw. Cool. So then I start inside, give him a little touch shot. I know he ain't got no touch. 59:59Joe Johnson:You know, a little something, a little something. Yeah. I wonder what -

1:00:04Shannon Sharpe:My wife caught me watching the show last night. I told her I came for the sports, but stayed for the story. Now I can't say night or cap.

1:00:14Oh yeah.

1:00:15Shannon Sharpe:Oh yeah. It was one and one, boy. Dr. Frank L. Bellamy, hey fam, all good. Ocho, your wig took me out. Glad y 'all had a good time. We had a great time. We did, man. Again, like Joe said, thank you Netflix for making this possible. Thank you, PV. Everybody from the president to the AD to the coaches, everybody. I mean, the student body, the energy was electric in the building last night. Friday night, excuse me, Friday night. Thank you, guys. Really, really, really appreciate that. Can you shout out my wife, Melissa, the type that no matter what time I start working in the morning, my lunch bag packed and ready.

1:00:54And Ocho, her ex was a zone.

1:00:57Shannon Sharpe:So he took, hey, he took her. Oh, man. Melissa, thank you. Appreciate that. Bro, appreciate you watching. Appreciate you supporting. That's all. Hey, great man. They got to be a great woman. And like you said, no matter what time you go to work, you know you can count on that lunch being packed. I know that thing be hitting too. Oh. Man, damn. He said, hey, he said, in other words, Ocho, he said he got his leg back for you. Oh yeah, I appreciate that twin. Nightcap went to another level last night. That kind of make y 'all some bad brothers in the good way. Well, y 'all already know who number three.

1:01:39Shannon Sharpe:I'm number three on the list. Come on, man, you don't even believe that. Come on, you gotta chill. It must be a number four, cause I'm behind both of y 'all, period point blank. Nah, man, look at Joe. Say, Joe a pro at this. I say, yeah. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. Y 'all gonna make him no bad brother though. Listen, listen, listen, listen. I played my role, okay? I done been in the strip club a time or two, you know. Hey man, I had a nice little time last night doing, you know, checking out the ballet dancing.

1:02:13Shannon Sharpe:Misery loves company. Don't pay no mind. That 87 to nothing still stinging a whole week later. That don't make him no bad brother though. Nah, guess what? We both got a loss. whether you win by a little or you win by a lot lose about it don't matter yeah no it matter because that's that's that's one loss so what's y 'all y 'all might not win a game you're crazy

1:02:40Joe Johnson:we'll be fam child please y 'all we scored 10 y 'all ain't score nothing y 'all score 13 but it still

1:02:47Shannon Sharpe:That wasn't enough. They had 31.

1:02:53Shannon Sharpe:I saw respect to the time you're putting in and learning more about football. You're a pro with 10 toes down, whatever you do. What's one thing you've learned since being in this podcast space full time? Number one.

1:03:09What's one thing I learned being it's work, bro. it's a lot of work that goes into this it's a lot of moving parts that goes into this but I'm going to be honest with you I'm having a great time I'm enjoying it having fun so hey man let's keep it rolling for sure

1:03:31Shannon Sharpe:Big 3 real football fan here you see Buckeyes freshman running back Legend Bay special Reggie Bush 2.0 the club got Ocho feeling like Pac today feeling like Pac yeah How you do that, Ocho? How you lose everything you get? What I lose? You lost the wig. You lost the jacket. Oh, my Hall of Fame jacket?

1:03:55Joe Johnson:Somebody got that Hall of Fame jacket. Somebody got that wig, too. I know. Yeah, I'm sure somebody will reach out and get it back. You still got the hat, though, right? Oh, well, I got a whole case for my hat. I ain't losing that. He ain't getting that wig back for sure. I might get it back. I don't need it. I don't need it. That was just a one-time thing, one-time thing. What you got, a holster's on, Ocho? Oh yeah, I got this off Instagrams. Yeah, he think he pop, Unk. No, no, no, I got this off Instagram. You put your one pop? Huh? You put your one pop. Now, it's dope, though. I forgot the name of the dude on Instagram, but you know, hold your keys, I hold my cigars.

1:04:33Hey, it is, it's hard, it's hard, bro. It's hard, it's hard.

1:04:36Joe Johnson:You don't like it, Joe? Yeah, I like it. See, it's hard, it's hard, I like it. Like, hey, when I ride my bike, you know I got a Harley bagger with a 34-inch wheel. You done got it done? Nah, it's almost done. It'll be done October 5th. It's going to be the best time to ride, too, boy. Yeah, so when I ride, I ain't got to put nothing in my pocket. I just put everything right here, you know? Yeah. Don't you ever have a motorcycle license? Yeah. You ain't got no motorcycle license. Yeah, I got a sport bike. Of course I got a motorcycle license. Remember I got the Yamaha R7.

1:05:13Joe Johnson:Hey Joe, you don't like it though? Nah, I like it bro, I'm messing with it for real. I like it. I like it with the little white t-shirt, you know what I mean? I like it, it's nice look, you know what I mean? Yeah Joe. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm feeling that's alright though. Hey chat, y 'all don't like it? And I was supporting black business too. I can't remember dude's name on Instagrams, but he was posting it, you know? I'm like, hey I like that. Yeah. It's dope so I ain't gotta have my phone in my pocket while I'm riding. Yeah. My dollars in here, my wallet. Yeah. Yeah, I like it. So if buddy, if you see this man, I appreciate you twin, I'm supporting your business baby.

1:05:49Shannon Sharpe:Best nightcap ever last night fellas. Ocho, you got the move when the girl's dancing though bro. Especially when that Spanish joint was trying to dance.

1:05:58Joe Johnson:Hey Joe, remember when I told you, they told me Ocho get your ass out of the camera. You blocking the view, huh? Y 'all shut out, man. Yeah, yeah.

1:06:08Shannon Sharpe:Dabo tried to resist the NIL era so bad, and now he on the way out the door. All I know is Coach Saban picked the right time to retire. All of them. Yeah. Coach Saban left, Mike Krzyzewski left, Wright from Villanova left, Roy Williams left. Yeah, they saw what was coming. And they know you got to lead. You got to, yeah, your first question when you're talking to these kids is how much money you plan on paying. Because outside of that, man, they ain't trying to hear that. And them old school coaches, they don't want to have to go that route. Okay. You know what I mean? Not to leave with that. You know, hell, they already going to have a hard time even wanting to pay you, so to have to leave with that, come on, bro.

1:06:51Joe Johnson:Well, listen, depending on how good you are. Now, if you that boy, they got to fork over that money, or it ain't really nothing to talk about.

1:06:58Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, they don't mind forking it over, but they don't want to leave with that. They want to get to know you a little bit. There you go. Do you like football? Do you really like playing football? If you don't like playing football, ain't no amount of money that's gonna make you good. Hey, coach, I like playing football, but I'm just gonna keep it 100. I got moms and grandma, you know, I'm looking north for at least half a ticket. You know what I mean? I need at least half a ticket. So I ain't gonna waste your time. You know what I mean? Like if you don't plan on doing that, then we can keep it moving.

1:07:31Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

1:07:34Shannon Sharpe:One night y 'all preaching, another night y 'all in the club, y 'all got range. Start, bench, cut. Ryan Leaf, Jamarcus Russell, Zach Wilson. This might make me a bad brother.

1:07:43Joe Johnson:Hey, Zach Wilson is my starter, boy. Starter, yep. Zach Wilson is my starter. And I'm going with Jamarcus. I'm going to go ahead and let Ryan Leaf. Yeah.

1:07:54Shannon Sharpe:Okay, I can rock with that. Ocho, if you had to pick one celebration that you did that would have paid you a million, that would have paid a million dollar fine to do again, which one would it be? That Hall of Fame, Jack. Yeah.

1:08:08Joe Johnson:Yeah, putting that on. That was a, I don't need your validation. I feel I'm Hall of Fame worthy type moment for me. Yeah, yeah. I would never, I would never, you know, with all due respect for those that have been in, for those that do the voting, but you know how I am. I'm one who really doesn't care in a sense. That's, I would never get into the satisfaction of knowing they can control my happiness whether you let me in or not. So I'm finna my damn self. Right, right.

1:08:36Shannon Sharpe:Nightcap fam, what do you think about Deontay Johnson still not being signed? He's a top 10 route runner in this league right now. Easy.

1:08:44Joe Johnson:Yep, definitely is. Just the inconsistencies, the problems he's had. I think, what, he refused to go into the game in Baltimore?

1:08:50Shannon Sharpe:Oh, yeah, yeah, it's all that time.

1:08:53Joe Johnson:Yeah, yeah, yeah.

1:08:54Shannon Sharpe:How you going, Ocho, how you going to refuse to go into a game?

1:08:58Joe Johnson:Yeah, yeah, it's tough.

1:08:59Shannon Sharpe:I told you another guy. I see him writing on the wall for him, too, and he a much better receiver, Tyreek. Remember Tyreek did that at the end of the year? Yeah. No choice over in Miami for him. Yeah. That's the one thing you can't quit. Teammates will tolerate a lot from you. Yeah. But quitting on them is something that nobody is tolerating.

1:09:22Coaches ain't tolerating neither. Hell nah. Hey, they put you in certain situations just to see how you're going to react.

1:09:28Shannon Sharpe:To see. Yeah. you right yeah right and the last thing that you want to do oh it's quit oh man hey you guys i live in michigan i just microwave some pizza uh it hit zero then i added one more second back on the cooker any recommendations on what to do all right man you gotta put that

1:10:11Shannon Sharpe:Strawberry. I like grape and strawberry. I like grape.

1:10:14Joe Johnson:Jam, yeah, jam, yeah.
