In short
Too Slimy (interviewed by No Jumper) talks about growing up in Midwest City, Oklahoma City, working jobs including a short 7-Eleven stint, COVID-era OKC street takeovers, and his rap evolution into a chaotic “controlled noise” sound built for moshing. He explains how his breakthrough “Shrimp” went viral via Triller/Twitter, how he records (home studio, 50/50 writing + freestyle, FL + GarageBand editing), and his live-show mindset (15–25 minute sets, stopping fights). He also discusses Latinos in underground music, avoiding pills, and aiming for mainstream while keeping aura.

47I got my man Remo with me, and today we got the epic interview of the moment. Hell yeah. It's a sign of it, buddy. The dude himself too slimy in here. Wiping the nose already. Sheesh. Know that. What's the word, man? Bullying, bullying, you feel me? Just chilling. Working, working all the time. How often you be coming to LA? Actually, I've been here since COVID time. So I got family out here. So I be in and out type shit. Definitely. Wow. So is LA like a second home to you or you wouldn't go that far? Actually, now, yeah. because when I first got here, it was a weird vibe, you feel me? Because I'm from Oklahoma.
28Flat land, slow lifestyle type. But no, I say second home for sure. What's the stuff that stands out to you the most, though? Just the pretty girls walking around in their gym wear? I say the environment, like the mountains and shit, because Oklahoma don't got that, you feel me? Yeah. That's the weird thing about LA. It's like you got this dense city and all this culture and business, and then you can drive like 20 minutes and you're at the beach or you're in the mountains or you're whatever. So you kind of have access to everything at once. No, no, deadass. Deadass. Everything's around here. Yeah.
59For sure. So let's do the childhoods first. So talk to us about Oklahoma. What was it like growing up out there? Oklahoma, I feel like, like I said, slow lifestyle, really countryside. But if you live in the city, I mean, it's not much of a difference, low key, but slow lifestyle, sex, some cool, calm shit, for real. What were your parents like? They're cool people. I mean, we're from, I'm Mexican. They're from Mexico, so you feel me? Type shit. definitely I feel like you being an eccentric Mexican is a big part of the appeal they like seeing one of their own who's down to do his own thing yeah I feel like honestly there's a couple Mexicans in the game but like I feel like it needs to be more of a wider variety of Latinos in this underground shit type shit definitely so what was your home life like though you guys have money or you're kind of broke no no I just my parents came from Mexico migrated to the USA feel me just making a way really uh-huh yeah so they're kind of not doing so good but did you have to like get a job at a young age or anything like that yeah i had jobs yeah i had hella actually i worked at a restaurant i worked at a grocery store i worked at a 7-eleven oh so you're doing all type of yeah i got 7-eleven lasted for like three days i quit that shit what was wrong 7-eleven i just didn't with i couldn't stand the people ain't gonna lie there was there was some crack kids just a whole lot of characters i can't deal with it so when people think of okc you know people just think of like basketball team and shit like so for everybody else like what is okc like okc it's cool i fuck with the city's getting bigger now i want to say back then wasn't that big but it's slowly getting bigger and bigger yeah but growing up i was a chicago bulls fan the 2011 carlos boozer yeah so there's no like differences because like you midwest Yeah, I say.
51All right, where? Midwest City? Midwest. No, I was, I was, there's a city called Midwest City. Yeah, and in Oklahoma, that's where you're from though, right? Yeah, I'm from, yeah. But did you live like in the city sort of or did you live like off in the wilderness? It's in the city. It's in the city. Okay. Yeah, so like outside the city, outside of Midwest City, that would be like a 25, 30 minute drive. So it's not really that far if you think about it. Yeah. But was it cracking in your area? Was there anything going on in terms of like, you know, street business and stuff? Yeah, there's a whole lot of takeovers back during the COVID era.
20That shit got crazy. Unks was popping out. You feel me? Mad shit. Break down the takeovers because I heard you talk about it before. Yeah, no, no. What'd they be doing? Like, just really, like, shutting down the street, parking lot mainly. Yeah. It's going crazy. Fights breaking out. People getting drunk. You feel me? Just, you feel me? You don't see the Instagram reels all the time? Yeah, yeah. They just find themselves a little cul-de-sac and just run each other over for a couple hours? Yeah. That's how you shit. You was partaking in that shit or you just - I was there. I was just bobbing out.
49Just taking the vibes in. But nah, I didn't really whip it like that. I ain't gonna lie. When did you start to get interested in, like, I mean, explain your musical journey. I want to say when I really started was 2016, around that time. I was mainly into like early, like some boom, bad, Joey, badass, pro era shit. You feel me? I was doing that for a minute, but like a year and a half, I knew that shit wasn't gonna work out because you feel me? It was cool. It was cool. Nothing wrong with it, though. I ain't gonna lie. I was a big fan of Capitol Steeze going up, that type of shit. Then I moved on to Perp, Pump, all that shit.
27X, like, yeah, that shit was turnt. I was gonna say that you're kind of like a Lil Pump at the moment. Oh, for real? You think so? Kind of. Yeah, he's fine. Yeah. I think I'm just me, really. Maybe like the earliest iteration of Lil Pump when he first came out and everybody was just like, yo, like, I don't know what the f*** to think of this kid. That type of shit. I feel like you are kind of having that moment. But with you, it's more about the music. With him, it was more about like, yo, is this kid really taking Xanax like that? I don't know. I feel like, yeah. So you was on your Boom Bap shit at first?
58Yeah, early on. Because you said A-Sat Rocky too was a big inspiration? Yeah, Rocky for sure. I was listening to Wiz. I would say a little bit of Currency. Work. But yeah, that type of shit. And Ye, for sure. Mm. Yep. Definitely. Do you listen to anybody local? Was there anybody making music that you kind of knew? Locally? Nah, not locally I'll keep it a buck Really? Yeah, because I'm about to say How's the music scene out there? There's studios out there for you to go to? Where were you recording at anyway? I record at home studios I prefer to like to work alone By myself in a studio at home I come to an environment Because I was never the type of person To have 30 people in that whole 50 people party going Nah, I don't do that But yeah There's studios out there though for sure There's studios out there for sure So you kind of like move out of doing the boom bap stuff to making stuff that's a little bit more SoundCloud sounding.
49Is that what I'm getting? Yeah. If you put it that way, kind of yeah. But yeah, type shit. But that was a long time ago. That was like nine years ago if we're talking 2016. Ten years ago. Yeah, type shit. But like I said, I went from that pro era to that little switch to the pump era. Then I stopped for a few years, like two, three years. And I picked it back up in like, I want to say like 2020, 2021. And I saw Yeet take off. That shit, I'm like, damn, okay. You feel me? I'm going to start taking this shit for real. I'm going to start paying to get on shows, this and that. What about Yeet re-inspired you to be like, all right, let me take this serious?
25That's because his sound at the time was crazy to me. That shit was like, it's crazy. So good, so good, so good. Everything you want for summer is at Nordstrom Rack stores now and up to 60 % off. 7:59This summer, serve up the cookout classics, Oscar Mayer hot dogs and Heinz mustard. Grill up a dog, add classic yellow mustard, or loaded Chicago style. We all know it's not a cookout without Oscar Mayer and Hines.
38about their life and shit like that but like then by the time you get to somebody like yeet he's really like going out of his way to push the genre and like really push boundaries and kind of see what's possible and then i really look at you as kind of like the next step of like a person who's really willing to like with the music and just try anything yeah no hell yeah i would i used to i still listen to some minor threat here and there too oh that's sick hell influence for sure and who uh you know they're the founders of straight edge yeah no yeah that Ian McKay, who went on to also... Fugazi.
11Fugazi, yeah. Also, Rites of Spring is an amazing band that he had for a little bit. And they had like one album that was really good. Yeah, I seen where you said you listen to like Queen and shit too. Yeah, oh yeah, Queen, yeah. Freddie Mercury, he the GOAT for it. Bro, you listen to the Queen greatest hits, it's like unreal that this band made all these songs. Because they're so different and so hard and so crazy. Yeah, the crowd control is insane too. Just look at them live. Yeah. That shit, that shit nuts. You watch him, you want to grow a mustache? Nah, I don't know what I said. Nah, that would be his OD.
40What's your facial hair situation like? You gotta shave a lot? Nah, I don't really grow hair a lot, but when I do it, it looks not too big, you feel me? So I just cut it down, you feel me? It's not my thing, it's all your shit. Just curious. Yeah. For sure. So look, people seeing the grind right now, and it look like it's overnight, but you said you've been rapping since 2016. Yeah, 2016, 17, yo, for sure. And I want to say last year, shit started taking off. With Shrink. With strength, yeah. Because that's when the first time I think I seen you on the map. Because everybody was on some meme shit, and everybody was kind of like putting you in that meme category.
14How do you feel about people trying to label you a meme rapper? Angola, that shit annoying, bro. That shit. At first, it used to get to me, but now I don't give a fuck what people think every day because I'm going to do me regardless. I don't care what the next man think. You got one life to live. Why the hell would you trip about that? But to this day, I'm not a meme, bro. I'm for real about this. I don't hate ass about this shit. Like, this is my shit. Like, I can't really fuck the game, but in a good way, like, we gonna take this shit to the next level. Like, yeah. I mean, I guess, like, a lot of people, like, make music.
49Like, some people make strip club music or, like, booty-shaking-ass music. Some R &B is, like, pretty clearly meant to, like, to, you know, King Von was making, like, straight killing soundtracks. When you think about, like, what a person would be doing, while listening to Too Slimy, what would you see a person doing? Shit. Cutting up in the freeway, you feel me? Just going crazy, moshing at shows. That's what it is. That's what Too Slimy music is. Really? Yep. So you already think of your music as kind of being designed for the live experience? Yeah, I feel like it's been. I feel like it's been.
25It's just like, yeah, it's so chaotic, so crazy. I like to say it's like controlled noise, damn it. Yeah. Yeah, but you feel me? Because I was watching this Drake interview that he did eight years ago, six years ago. I forget what it was. But he was basically saying that from touring and playing these big-ass stadiums and arenas and shit like that, that that just completely changed his mentality on music. It makes sense. Once you get used to playing live, you kind of want to make music to fit that experience. But when you play live, how long do you play for? On stage? Yeah. I want to say 20 minutes, 25, 15, average.
04Yeah, type shit. What do you do? Like already have a set list of the exact order of the songs. Is it just like one file that plays or? No, it's a set list. Yeah, for sure. Okay. Going crazy after that. Well, so all right. So Shrimp. All right, let's break down Shrimp. Where were you at when you shot that music video? That music video, Shrimp. I was in Atlanta. Oh, that's Atlanta? Yeah, I was in Atlanta. Yeah. We shot that. Yeah, because at the time, I shot some shit with Yapo and JJ at the same time frame. Yeah, so we knocked that video out in Atlanta though, for sure. Word. So how did that song or how did everybody start catching on to Shrimp?
41Well, Shrimp, to be honest, bro, like you said, people took it as a joke. I didn't even view that song. I was like, you with Shrimp. I did the triller. I paid like two or three pages on Twitter. Then that shit just took off like a snowball effect and that shit. Yeah. Hey, shout out Smoke and Skoda. I feel like Ain't Wild Ka 'una. Those were early influences too that made me, you know what I mean? So you just hit up like a Twitter page, like what kind? Like an underground type page? Yeah, yeah. And did you tell them like, hey, write this? Do you remember what the caption was? I did tell them something.
18I forgot what it was, honestly. But they didn't put what I told them to say, you know? They just did their own thing. Okay. because was it like kind of emphasizing the meme aspect of it because i'm trying to think of like what the most viral caption would be and it would probably be something like yo what the is wrong with this kid like it would probably be like something that made it like yo you gotta watch this because this is some crazy shit but i don't know if you would have necessarily written that caption because you're you're like not really trying to be viewed as just like a freak show Nah, there wasn't no catches like that.
52For real, but yeah, it was a crazy time. Do you know Smokin' Skull? Oh, yeah, I chopped it up with him. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I got his number, yeah, for sure. He cool dude. Yeah, he mysterious as fuck. For real? Yeah, I've been seeing him for a minute, but I ain't really get to chopper with him. But it was interesting that you just mentioned his name. Where's the inspiration behind that? Y 'all friends? Skull? No, I just like, I saw him rap on those TDF beats, those crazy beats, just like. also the sound in a way yeah yeah yeah ear candy to me like i don't know it clicked clicked and then like i took it my own way like i took expressions from minor three the punk bands hardcore punk bands and added my own twist to it like a fat fast pace up tempo shit yeah that makes sense damn near edm i want to say yeah because like i watched a video that some kid made about your music and he was kind of comparing it to like really extreme metal or really extreme hardcore EDM in the sense that like it's a lot of people don't like it it's kind of alienating to some people but you know there's always gonna be an audience for people who want to kind of see the genre be pushed as far as possible.
56Yeah I see that for sure. Yeah the EDM shit. How you locking with Yabo J.J.? Really I hit him up way before this other before Shrimp took off. Yeah. I feel like everything was lined up perfectly everything for sure so the right time right moment type shit what's your attitude on your lyrics like are your lyrics do you think that people should be able to understand your lyrics just from listening to it yeah no i feel like i feel like if you really i'd be saying some shit because there's a line i said smoking the art of choke she know the art of choke like that shit crazy i feel like people don't even don't even catch i ain't catching it like come on like i'd be saying some shit i mean you definitely add a lot of vocal effects and shit that make it a little difficult to tell what you're saying but is there like a database for your lyrics somewhere i mean there's some on genius but i want to say it's all wrong but like i need to fix that are you writing like how what's the what's the recording process like i write sometimes but i freestyle same time so it's 50 50 half and a half so you got people in the studio with you in the crib or you buy a dollar yeah dollar always been you know what i mean always i was never that type of person i have like 30 people but if i do have the it's It's the homies.
08It's the homies. Yeah. That homie type shit. Even like, because, you know, when you come out to L.A. and shit, you get probably the labels and shit pressure you to go to the studio and shit. You just have, like, the homies in there. Not having the girls come around and record in front of them. You ain't doing that yet? Nah, not from the girls. Not yet. Not yet. Nah. What kind of girls are you listening to, Salami? I don't know. That's a good question. Have you met them in real life? Oh, yeah. I met a few. I mean, just normal people. You feel me? Mm. Yeah. Damn. I just like want to know what chicks are going to be like front stage in front of the front of the crowd.
41You got to pull up to the show. I ain't going to lie. Yeah, I'm trying to see that because like I do. As soon as you say that the music is meant to like mosh at the show, that just like makes me think, oh, that must be a crazy experience live. Yeah, yeah. On some Cardi shit for sure. Yeah. Like how violent do those sort of mosh pits get? Like are people really getting f***ed up or is it more of like a friendly push pit vibe? I want to say friendly push vibe, but people do elbow each other sometimes here and there. But it ain't like fights, I want to say, going on in there. I don't think so. I don't think so.
14If there was a fight, would you stop the show and tell them to chill out? Or would you just... Yeah, we stopping that game. Just like, let it keep going. No, we stopping that game. But that's aura. Like, if people are beating the f*** out of each other, they could really up the vibes. Yeah, well, it depends, though. You feel me? It depends how crazy that s*** is. Yeah, I think ever since the Travis Scott shit, niggas is like, you got to make sure everybody's straight on stage now. Yeah, nah, that ass, that's true. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, definitely. Where did the Too Slimy name come from? I want to say, like, I said this before, but, like, I had a big friend group back in school, you feel me?
48A lot of wishy-washy fake friends. Really? Yeah, I had a big circle, but I narrowed it down to three people, you feel me? I had to cut them folks off. So I had to get Too Slimy type shit. so what you feel like they were around you for fake reasons but this is like way before you blew up right i want to say i want to say they're around me like not supporting i support they're just there type shit you're not not real friends but when you say supporting like supporting you in a way with your music or just like just in life in general a music uh yeah yeah life in general sometimes yeah because i before this i was i always was into music but before this i I wanted to be a basketball player and shit.
29I was so determined to make it to the NBA. Got to high school, 6 '5", folks. I knew it was good. Slow it. Slow hook. What position you played? Point guard. Point eye, for sure. You just loved the game so much and you just knew it wasn't possible? Yeah, nah. Coach, man, coach was rough, man. I'll say that. Well, yeah. Damn. Yeah, because you got to be like top 1 % in high school to even make it to college. and then you got to be top 1 % of college to make it to the league. Like, that shit is a heartbreaker. When did your basketball run in? What was it? When did your basketball run in? Like, when did you stop playing?
05Oh, I stopped, I want to say probably high school. All right, so that was over with after that. Yeah, yeah, nah. I'm cold with it, though. I ain't going to lie. I've seen you telling Playboy Max that on the stream the other day. I'm cold with it. At the Hyperpop Daily, they put me in for 30, nah, five seconds. It wasn't even no showcase for real. But next one I'll make sure Who team was you on? I forgot It was Dave Bluntz was the coach 6 '7 kid was on the team Oh yeah Alright for sure Mike Broke as fuck was on the team Other than that I forgot Dude the 6 '7 kid Actually like break his leg Nah It looked like Everyone thought he got F***ing hurt And I mean broke his leg But I think he ended up Being straight He hit his chin He hit his chin Or some shit right Yeah Cause I seen him like Outside when we was leaving He was alright Dave Bluntz walking in there Like a king so there's so much swag just a legion of people like following behind him just just a pure icon um what's the too slimy attitude on women are you are you like single playing the field or you got a girlfriend or right now i'm single you feel me but we respect women out here though oh yeah bars all the time so this whole time you like when's the last time you had a girlfriend are you not that kind of guy or do you aspire to be in a relationship no i don't really aspire to be in a relationship i'm focused on myself right now one goal right now and that's it ton of vision just 100 focus on the music yeah we ain't got time for no girls definitely but are you sampling what's out there in terms of like you know random bops dm and you or i mean i had that but you feel me we'll see what future holds but you know i like my women thick.
47All shapes and sizes though. I don't discriminate. Do you speak Spanish? Yeah. Would you ever speak Spanish in a song? Damn. Maybe. Maybe we'll see. We'll see. Would you get on a song with Bad Bunny? Hell yeah. Of course. That's the one, right? Yeah, who wouldn't though? Yeah, Bad Bunny. Would you just fit in on his style song or would you make him get on your style song? Because I could see this really going two very different ways. I won't say I'll fit in his style, but I'll bring them to my world too type shit. I've seen you be critical of 6 '9 and shit. You felt like... If we knew more about our sleep, what would we do differently?

How do you feel about his comeback now and shit? Because you said some things about him before where you wasn't really feeling him, but now it seems like he's kind of getting a wave again and people kind of tapping in.
10Honestly, I don't think I ever said that, But 6ix9ine, I mean, he cool. I mean, that's his thing, you feel me? He wanted to portray something. I think that's how you said it. It was like the way he portrayed it or whatever. That's his own little problem, you feel me? At the end of the day, that's on him. I guess he a cool dude, I guess. I mean, the whole question with 6ix9ine is like, are we going to just shun someone forever because they told? You know, like are we just as like a people just like, because clearly people like him and care about him and are interested in what he has going on. And I think this year, people just kind of realized, like, you know what?
48We're going to be a fan of this guy again. No, yeah, because I feel like some people that be in their lifestyle, they be snitching, they get away with it, and they don't get the same shit. 6ix9ine got some hits, though. I ain't going to lie. He got some hits. For sure. There was a debate. They were saying, like, who's the biggest Latino rapper, and he was saying it's between him and Cardi B. And Lil Pump. And Lil Pump. and then I guess Fat Joe. Who do you put? Out of all them? Oh, who would you just say like you felt like that held it down for Latinos harder than anybody? Damn, that's a good question.
21I have no idea. Too slimy, really. Yeah, hell yeah. Too slimy, yeah. I'll fuck with that. Lil Xan. You were never down with Xanarchy? Lil Xan, the rapper? Yeah. I wasn't. You miss out on that? I mean, I knew who he was. I was never a fan of that. I'm gonna be honest. Lil Xan took over the world for a little while. he was like the headline of like the news every day for like many many months there and then all of a sudden just disappeared and yeah he's a cool dude though but you don't hear much about him now so outside of like shrimp what's on you for like everybody's gravitating towards the most uh i want to say bring them out bring them out bring them yeah yeah bring them out that's my favorite so far no actually i got some unreleased shit but bring them out it's one of my favorites that are out right.
10I fuck with that. Oh, you fuck with that? Yeah, that shit. I fuck with that. I fuck with that. Beat crazy. Yeah, man. Yeah, we're, all right. So where are you going to get your beats? Like, where does Tusalami find his beats? Who's making these beats for you? Like, you got your own personal camp of producers? Like. I want to say I got three people on lock. Vlor5K, he from Belgium. Where? KX, he's from overseas. I don't know. I forget where he's from. And then Bytes from the USA. Yeah. Three. Oh, so you got three main producers in it. And then how did you lock in with them and discover them? Vlor, he reached out first And I just really like Just listened And I'm like That shit got in my ear Okay I fuck with it Like It's an instant gravitation And same thing with KX And like Yeah they reached out Type shit Do you feel like it's important To have like Your own like Group of producers and shit Cause like when Yeet was coming up It seemed like he had his own Wave of producers And then they had like Crafted the sound And everyone started like Trying to holla at his producers and shit And it seemed like You got that going on With what you got With your camp Yeah, no, I feel like that's important.
10I feel like if you have hella producers, I feel like you want to really find your sound or mold it right. But I feel like the smaller the better. And yeah, that's for sure. Yeah, they helped me build up that sound. You feel like you got copycats already? People jacking your shit? You probably know more than we know. Copycats? I mean, nah. I don't think so. I don't think so. Could you make a song without autotune or any effects on your voice? Yeah, I could. Would you? Would I? uh maybe i don't know i don't know word i don't know we'll see i mean like could you imagine yourself doing a project where you just with like a lot of different styles it feels like you're kind of locked into a style right now but like could you imagine yourself like really just with it and just trying a bunch of different shit on one album uh yeah maybe type shit it's a big decision yeah that is a big decision yeah don't know really but yeah maybe a lot of rappers kind of go their whole career doing like pretty similar shit but like i've seen a lot of like bands over the years that were like made really crazy ass metal or whatever and then they just do like one single with like sort of clean vocals or whatever and then they're able to just have that be like a big ass hit that's kind of what i was thinking when i was watching your shit i'm like he's gonna build up a crazy ass fan base like this and then one day he's just gonna hit him with like a hit that is like this but just his own take on it i don't know i could just see no hell yeah no i could see it i feel like i already did that before already though with the vet with the vet song for sure but i got i got shit in the vault that's that's crazier in that in that lane for sure really yeah how you locking with your management team management team hey shout out josh shout out inner circle you know in the building they they family They real family For sure Yeah now they be moving around I'll be seeing I'll be seeing them around Hell yeah You was at Floating World last year Or Yeah nah yeah Floating World last year I did plenty shows At Floating World Word Word Yeah I feel it I feel it Shit um What would you How you and Max link up How he reach out to you Or some shit Oh play with Max Uh He Nah I saw him reacting Then I hit him with a tweet And like yo Let me hop in the boat What song was he reacting to Uh I think it was I think it was me.
31I don't remember. Oh, it worked. I think it was me. Because he reacted to a few. A couple. Yeah. Yeah, no, that shit. That shit was crazy. Shout out Max. Super good look right there. Yeah. And he just had you pull up and like, what was it about his mic that you didn't like that made you want to replace it with yours? I feel like that mic was so high quality. I feel like you could hear me breathing. I feel like I could hear my heartbeat damn near. I wasn't with that, so I I had to switch it out. And to be honest, I'm not even really hip that much into mics. So I didn't even know that was an AT2020 or whatever.
04I just, Audio Technica, slap that bitch on. I've been doing that for so long. I ain't switching up my working, my process. Definitely. Do you ever make music off your phone? Or did you skip that stage? No, I did GarageBand for a solid year or two. Then I switched to FL. But I be editing on GarageBand though. Because I record on FL and I send the raw vocals to GarageBand and I just chop it up with my finger. That's time consuming, but that's my way. Right. No, definitely. Do you punch in when you're recording most of the time or do you prefer to just kind of go for it? A little bit of both. Okay.
46A little bit of both. Because you're saying you're moving around yourself. Do you just kind of freestyle and then just put it all together? Yeah, yeah. Mumble the melody, the words. Oh, okay. Interesting. Where do you live at now? You still staying at OKC? I'm moving. I think I'm going to stay out here for now. Oh, all right. You going to LA? LA's lit. LA's the vibes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. What's your lifestyle like out here? What you mean, like? Like, you trying to be outside around the people all the time? Or are you kind of posted up in the crib or just recording? Like, what's your? A little bit of both.
19I'm trying to be outside at the beach. You feel me? Mountains hiking. Come on. Y 'all got everything out here. Yeah. Shit, Disneyland, that shit crazy. Nah, definitely. But I mean, as a rapper, it's kind of like a weird decision because it's like you could either sort of like overexpose yourself, be out there at every single cool popping thing, or, you know, you could kind of just say post up in the crib. It's like, you know, a lot of people have a hard time figuring out the right ratio. Nah, I feel that. When you finally find your thing, you want the whole world to know about that thing. So you use a thing called Canva to make it an even bigger and better thing.

54whether you want to create flyers for that thing make presentations for that thing or design merch for that thing you can do anything so people can see your thing feel your thing love your thing the next thing you know it's a thing canva the thing that makes anything a thing yeah what's what's the two slimy turn up like we've seen you hit the blunt a little bit but like Like, what's your mentality on having a good time? Really, I don't really drink. I smoke occasionally, but I'm mainly drug-free, I want to say, especially when I'm in the studio because when I'm really fried, I can't even record.
36I can't even think, for real. You've had that experience where you're just too gone? I was too fried. I didn't even want to. I tried it before, too, and I would wake up the next day and then be like, damn, this shit is ass. I wasted my time. So never again. Too fried off what? just weed or? Yeah, weed I want to say. So you don't fuck on pills or anything like that? Nah, nah, no pills. If Cardi passed you a lean cup, would you hit it? Oh, hell, hell. I'm hitting that shit, gang. Nah, that's Cardi, fuck it, right? Going off Mali, all that. Yeah, just hitting the cup ain't going to do nothing. You got to hit it like a lot to make it do something.
11Word, you never drank a lean before? Yeah, I took a sip before. Okay. I took a sip or two, but not no crazy shit. Then not something you really wanted to pursue? Nah, not really. Yeah. To be honest. Trust me, it's not a great idea. If you start, you're going to have to stop at some point. Because it's hard to have a healthy life off that shit. I don't know. How did you get on paying for promo? Because a lot of rappers early on, they don't think of like, all right, I'm going to spend my money and invest in myself. They think that everybody should just support them and just post their shit. I feel like, wait, my phone.
44No, no, how did you get that mentality or business mind to be like, you know what let me promote my shit i feel like paying for a promo like it's it's not a bad thing i feel like if you're gonna do if you're gonna pay for a promo you gotta do it the right way because you can't you can't just say so-and-so artist dropped a new song yeah scroll scroll you know i mean people not gonna care i feel like you gotta do a certain way you market yourself a certain way but i'm not no promo demon i'll say that yeah no they bugging nah i don't really pay for promo to be honest the last time i paid for promo was shrimp era but you don't have to pay for promo now because everyone's already but how did you know they have that mentality of like all right when i do pay for promo i have to make sure it's something engaging and not just no boring that shit that people gonna scroll past like honestly uh i want to say when i started seeing people post trailers like short term short form content you know what i mean yeah post it up doing in the bathroom outside i feel like that's way better than just like a picture yeah for sure So what was your first I guess chance of you like I'm actually Go hard and make an attempt With this promo video And like Do something out of the norm Instead of just rapping it normal I want to say Damn It was last year I want to say When I was doing some tricks It wasn't a specific song I feel like Every time I did a trick I wanted to do something Something crazy To catch the eye You know what I mean Yeah Yeah but Balance it out with the corniness You know what I mean I'm not trying to look corny At the same time But yeah Nah the promo shit is super strategic though You gotta like Yeah Nah you gotta do it the right way Or else you're just wasting your money At the end of the day You feel me What pages were you tapping in with early?
17Oh For somebody who's trying to rap And get on your level Like who would you It was really Twitter I forgot the pages I think it was I forgot the names I'm gonna be honest But it was some pages on Twitter And there's no management This is just you Just like Just me All this There's been no label push Just me I'm not signed Nothing Just independent Word Yep But you've been doing all those meetings with labels and everything? Yeah, recently, recently. But you know what I mean? They got to come with a bag at the end of the day. They ain't coming with enough of a bag yet? We still waiting. We still meet up with more labels.
50We finna see. Okay. Yeah, type of shit. But are you in any kind of rush, or do you feel like you can kind of take your time? I take my time because I've been doing good so far. Ever since last year, I feel like people barely paid attention as soon as I dropped the body of work. Because if you look at my page, I've really been pushing and going crazy for a good minute. We actually were on stream and like Diddy Bop or whoever, Diddy Bop and Gio showed me your music and like I was blown away and I don't know why, but the clip is titled Adam22 Says That Too Slimy Is Better Than Young Thug. Which I don't really remember saying that, but apparently that's what I said.
27Hey, that's a strong statement. Hey, why not, man? That's a strong statement. Shout out Thug. I'm telling Thug, Thug needs to step it up. Word. Thug need to be like paying attention to Slimey and like thinking about that. Would you sign to a rapper though? Would you sign to somebody like Thug or Cardi? Yeah. Yeah, Opium for sure. Word. Opium for sure. So that was like the GOAT to you? You're a huge Cardi fan? Cardi is GOAT, man. Hell yeah. Dylit era Cardi. A whole lot of red Cardi. Crazy. You know, for sure. I could see you over there. Yeah, Opium for sure. Shout out them boys. Did you know Maxon?
02Maxon. Oh, yeah. We just chopped it up here and there. He's a cool dude. He was real chill dude. R.I.P. R.I.P. Maximum. That's crazy. That shit. I feel like life's bigger than this music shit at the end of the day because you never know what people going through. Exactly, right? Yeah, shit. Shit sad, man. That's why I was thrown off because every time I seen him, he was always just chilling and shit. So you would never expect that. Type shit. No, yeah. I chopped it a few times with him. He was a good person. Who do you fuck with in the underground scene and shit or have relationships with? I fuck with Mike Rogan's fuck.
34He cool dude. He a cool dude, Salmosated. Shout out, bro. My homie, One Man J, he be rapping. He cool. Oh, all right. Yeah. And yeah, a few people. For sure. Who's some artists that you want to work with outside of the underground? Like if you could get a feature or do some songs with? I want to say, I'm trying to work with Osama Sun. Osama Sun and Shade 2, they five. Wait, wait. I'll focus with both of them. What's that? I'll focus with both of them. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's almost gonna go crazy. Yeah, they fine. Do you care about being a mainstream rapper, or would you be satisfied just being viewed as an underground legend?
16I'm trying to go mainstream. I'm really trying to go mainstream. Yeah. That's the goal. Yeah. Yeah, breakthrough. What do you think is going to take you to that next level? That's a good question, man. I feel like we gotta We gotta make shit more digestible For the people For the average year Cause you feel me I feel like People still don't get Still don't get the sound Sometimes you're here And you're like Like trying to figure it out And then Like when you get When you get it You get it But then it is probably like Hard for people to like Get at first Yeah I wanna say for me I feel like Either you get With me heavy Or you don't Yeah But you know what I mean And when you say more digestible Like just like You're talking about sonically Uh sonically Yeah Yeah, I want to say that sonically, yeah.
02But is that hard for you to make your music more palatable or pull it back a little bit or maybe with your vocal kit and make it so that it's a little bit easier to understand? Is that something you like to do, but you like to do it slowly? Yeah, I feel like that would definitely fuck up the creative process, but I feel like as an artist, you've got to grow, you feel me? So experiment for sure. I've been experimenting, but I feel like maybe we've got to wind down that a little bit but we finna see it's like your fans have a version of you that they love but then if you're gonna bring in new fans or if you're gonna even just keep those fans interested you kind of need to like grow as time goes by like i've always been real interested in laser dim and like you know you see him like sometimes stepping away from like the style of of like recording that he does but kind of feels like he's not necessarily really trying to like switch it up.
00Like, he's just kind of satisfied, like, staying where he's at. No, I feel like that's teacher's owner. It depends who you are, but I'm trying to go mainstream, gang. I ain't no way to go global. I mean, shit, you've been doing it for nine years, so you want it. Yeah. Like, why did you stop during those two, three years before COVID or during COVID? I'll be honest. I don't know. I don't know. I just, I don't know. But when I stopped, I felt like this shit was calling me back. You feel me? like like your ex even your home yeah yeah so i picked it up again and yeah but was it like you feel like it wasn't going anywhere or like just life happening i feel like i feel like at first it wasn't going anywhere and then you feel me like music always been part of me feel me stepping away that long i felt like yo what the like i felt weird yeah but like i wasn't doing nothing you know what was the moment that drew you back in oh damn that's a good question Drew me back in You're like I'm gonna give it One more shot Uh Maybe I'm gonna say I guess the COVID era I guess I really don't know I feel like This one It just clicked randomly You just had more time With COVID and shit But you quit during You wasn't making music During COVID though And that's when Everybody was listening Like or could've been listening You feel me Honestly bro I don't know What made me click Yeah I'm keeping it being Bro I don't know It was no more I mean I guess Yeet I guess right Being a little with yeet and spark but i feel like when i picked it up i feel like that was a little bit i picked it up already you know what i mean like that made me like oh okay you know what i mean yeah yeah yeah do you uh did you used to go to like underground shows like before you blew up uh nah i'm trying to think nah but i did go to the uh dialit when he had that that lit concert, that tour.
52That shit was crazy. And I've been to a Juice WRLD show that was lit. I was mainly there for Comethazine though. Shout out to Comethazine, bro. Damn. It's crazy he hung it up. Yeah, nah. He was so sick. I feel like that sucks, bro. I feel like I wish he could pick that shit up again. His new shit cool though. He's trying to rebrand. The jazz shit? Oh yeah, that shit fuck. I'm not gonna lie, he was kind of a dick. Like, just being around him, like, his music was sick but like he was kind of like tough to get along with like he was kind of like a crazy person that's why it's like so insane to see him like doing this complete rebrand with the music but i'm like so fascinated like i'm so hooked like if he dropped the interview right now i would listen to it immediately like i want to know what the he's doing so bad um how conscious of like preserving your aura are you in terms of like you know not necessarily wanting to do every last tick tock every last feature or are you do you feel like you're at the point in your career where you're just kind of doing whatever i feel like uh where i'm at right now i feel like i gotta move a certain way strategically strategically because like i can't be doing everything you know what i mean yeah i feel like as an artist i feel you gotta hold some type of aura yeah yeah like the less you do, the more fascinated the fans are, the more that they're kind of on the hook.
18Like with Cardi, like just the fact that he doesn't really give people anything. So anytime they see anything, it's like they're just so fascinated by it. You know, it's like a pretty good relationship to have with your fans, you know? Yeah, I feel like that builds the cult fan base. We want more and more and you keep having to wait type shit. Yeah. Yo, we'll be putting your fists together because like that fist you had went viral for the other day you got like the shoulder pads and oh what the that was that was doug man shout out doug he fired what kind of shoes was those like had the pointy like cockroach corner i don't know i don't know what type of shoes but i fuck with the feet now the feet was far like yeah but i'm just saying like where do you get your inspiration from like when you dress and shit like um that's a good question i don't say a little bit of yay a little bit of cardi all right i can see the yay because Does it kind of look like the Ye video when, I guess, him and, what is that, YNW Melly, or is that the punk?
13It's like when they got - Oh, with the shoulders? The shoulders, yeah. Yeah, like a crazy fit that went viral the other day that kind of reminded me of that. No, yeah, I see that, I see that, for sure. Yeah. That was during the era where Kanye was like a full-blown porn addict. He was like talking about porn all the time, and then he just went full God mode like right after that. He's like hanging out with Lil Pump and Smoke Perp, and then he's like, nah, f*** this shit. i'm i'm with god now that was a crazy chapter in his life dude yeah what's your relationship with nivon i seen he was he with you at playboy max yeah yeah he was posted up he could do i fought with nivon yeah nivon real one he funny as heck how much he shiny in your videos uh not yeah but we finna get something i got something i'm about to say if nivon's in the background y 'all cooking up we finna get something in yeah yeah we did an interview that's gonna come out documentary type yeah oh sick oh yeah uh what's the craziest cosign you feel like you gotten so far craziest constant damn i want to say uh anything uh i want to say maybe the needle drop i forgot the needle drop him yeah yeah just the album review that he did the album review was crazy that's the that's the craziest one honestly it's funny because like when he did the rating at the end he like distorted the rating so you couldn't read it yeah so you had to kind of guess like what he was getting at he read it a nine that was a nine yeah really to me it looked like a nine i don't know because i thought it was a six but i didn't really look at it that good that's ill either way yeah it's not it was a nine yeah shout out bro what about like rappers anybody in particular reached out that kind of blew your mind oh actually uh young bands reached shout out a while ago yeah shout out bands to see who else perp he tested me recently oh shit that's it cool yeah shout out bro yeah i want to say bands perp i don't know who else though yeah what's your relationship with your with the internet like like you know if you like when you're getting a ton of praise from the internet like does that really like make your mood way better and like how do you feel when you're kind of getting negativity from the internet does that up your day i feel like when it comes to hate, I stay away from it.
29Early on, I did fuck up my day. I did fuck with me. But now, I just stay away from the internet. Specific, I mean, from the hate. Specifically off Twitter. I really hop on Twitter a lot. But I be peeping, I be peeping the support. That shit be fine. Yeah. If you... Not read comments. Yeah, I don't read comments. You don't really read them anymore. Nah, not a lot. People feud, but I don't even go deep into that. I'm like, I'm talking about phones. Do you ever see a video you use going viral on Twitter and then not engage at all just like not read any of it just be like damn it's viral that's crazy and then just not read anything yeah that type of shit I'd be on that's big yeah what would you say to a kid out there who was thinking about taking their own life what would you tell them I feel like I feel like everyone got their own con I feel like going that route is not the way honestly I feel like just hold on twin hold on gang you feel me you gonna get through yeah but I feel like everyone got some con to do something yeah So yeah, that's what I think.
28I bet you just saved at least one life. Hell yeah. Like that. For real, for real. Hell yeah. I guess, yeah, so what are you thinking in terms of your career right now? Like what moves are you trying to make? Are you trying to go on tour? Are you trying to sign to a label? What's the stuff you're most focused on? Right now, we're getting bigger and bigger. more exposure more exposure right now i feel like it's going mainstream is the goal really bigger than ever right now rolling loud too soon oh yeah we know that hell yeah yeah i feel like you're gonna be known as like the dude who has the insane live shows he's like that hell yeah that's a good reputation to have for sure i need to see that um Shit, Remar, anything else?
21Shit, uh, what's your relationship with Wafa? Wafa, you know? Yeah, because that's - Who is here right now. Who is here in the corner, which is a legend, and I'm like, bro, y 'all pulled up together. I'm like, come on. Yeah, I saw it, and I was like, damn, Wafa, really here, bro. Shout out, bro. Yeah, no, that's hard. So y 'all management with each other and shit? Yeah, I feel like we just met, though. Oh, word. We just met. Oh, shit, okay. I'm so surprised. Yeah, I'm so like, this is my homie. This is my manager right here. I heard that. Oh, nice. That's what's up. Yeah, you're a real legend.
54Stamps. Stamps. Nah, that's crazy. Yeah, we had a lot of podcast appearances in the back of the bike shop back in the day with him. That's crazy. Hell yeah. If you could do a feature with any artist, who would it be? Any artist? Damn. Dead or alive or just? Yeah, alive. Alive? Yeah, it got to be alive. Okay, damn. We can't dig nobody up. all right a lot damn any any artist i mean probably cardi or yay one of them hell yeah one of them too for sure if you did go with the dead person who would it be man gotta be you know michael jack jack or freddie mercury bro oh yeah that's hard with that freddie murky on one of my beats to go crazy Yeah I saw somebody commented like Imagine Tupac on this beat That shit fine That's the craziest thing ever Yeah nah that's a crazy comment I feel like I feel like you You the future man everybody I feel like by the time next year Everyone's gonna be like yeah Y 'all you was on the song bro Hell yeah hell yeah Come on man too slimy in the building Definitely LA.
14Shout out to Remo. You know you want to like, comment, and subscribe on this video. Shout out to Too Slimy, Young Legend, In The Making. Appreciate you coming through, bro. Black business. No Jumper, coolest podcast. Like, comment, subscribe. We out.
