In short

Jamie and Sophie discuss parenting chaos after their baby Ziggy’s emergency C-section birth, social-media “mum shaming” and parasocial criticism, and their experience filming Disney Plus reality show Raising Chelsea (including candid, intimate moments).

Guest backgrounds

Jamie and Sophie are a celebrity couple who star in Raising Chelsea. Sophie is a new mother; Jamie is reflecting on becoming a dad. They also reference Sophie’s pregnancy and C-section, and Jamie’s boarding school/Made in Chelsea background.

Key claims

Online commenters judge women no matter what (guilt cycle; women shaming women). Jamie says his protective “dad” instinct kicked in when Ziggy calmed against his neck and later recognized his voice. Sophie argues pregnancy was physically miserable (nausea, constant hunger, constipation) and that postpartum life can be chaotic. They claim Raising Chelsea’s success comes from “super real” documentary-style filming with minimal performance.

Notable examples

“Mum shamers” messages comparing Jamie to a dog; emergency C-section PTSD-like panic; first night home with Ziggy peeing/spraying during breastfeeding; filming cameras feeling like “furniture”; Jamie’s childhood confession involving teddy bears and a wooden spoon; a “giant baby bell” acid mishap story.

0:14Olivia Attwood:This episode is brought to you by Tilda Rice, the UK's favorite rice brand. Dolls, you know me, I'm always on the go, always booked and busy because life is short, so you've got to live like you mean it. And when I'm out and about and I crave some food, I need something quick and easy, but still made with care. Because yes, my time is precious, but so are my meals. That's why I love Tilda's ready-to-heat range. So many different flavors and grains ready in just two minutes and are perfect for a quick lunch or an easy dinner after a long day. It's such an easy way to switch things up too, whether I'm craving classic chicken and rice, chili con carne, or even a sticky rice bowl.

0:56Olivia Attwood:So if your time's as precious as mine, don't worry, Tilda gets it. They know every minute matters and that's why every grain of rice, every product they make is crafted with the utmost care to be the very best it can be. Life's too short to serve up something that doesn't live up to its potential. So go on, live like you mean it with Tilda Rice. Available at major supermarkets and at tilda.com. Oh guys, I'm hungry now. I've put my teddy bears in a row. I went, look, this is what happens when you're a naughty boy. And I spanked my bum. Mum shamers. Have you experienced that already? I was dumbfounded at the amount of messages I got being like, the way you treat Jamie is like a dog.

1:39For some reason, every part of my being was like, don't do this. And I was like, what's going on? So nothing was working. And I was like, Sophie, I'm so sorry. Wait, nothing was working? Nothing was working.

1:47Olivia Attwood:Oh, Jesus. What was the first night at home that Ziggy died? Chaos. I was like, oh my God, he's peeing. And Jamie was like, what? Where's it coming from? And I looked down and it was just like, my booze were just like the milk. Spraying. Spraying like a fountain out of her nipples. Can we talk about the lavender marriage? Is it exhausting being his beard?

2:13Olivia Attwood:Hi, dolls. Welcome back to Olivia's house. I'm going to try and compose myself for this intro. It's already falling apart. But I'm joined in my house today by Chelsea royalty. It's Jamie and Sophie! Pew, pew! Pew, pew, pew! Pew, pew, pew! Jamie, do you want to tell the listeners what you were just talking about before we started? Well, you have some baby bells behind you. I do. We love baby bells here. Yeah, and I was saying that I have a story about a baby bell. And you then said, is it a sex story about you putting a baby bell up your ass? You just give that kid that put Lego up his bum. That's the energy you always serve me.

2:50You did tie your dick to a door and slammed it shut. No, sorry, that would be really impressive. I would be laughing if you could tie your dick. You tied it to like a slinky, right? Yeah, I know. What I used to do... Your foreskin. Sorry, this is... No, he doesn't have foreskin. So what the hell did you use? I know, what I... Yeah, what did you use? How the fuck are we starting here? I'm actually never put too into... What were you tying? You think I tied my penis to a door? sorry how would i tie a knot in my penis through the hole no what happened was as a kid i had these like things called silkies right and they were like they were the ends of like a rug like a rag and i used to do something called lipping on them right because it was like my comfort

3:33Olivia Attwood:blanket lipping i would like stroke the end like a little neurodiverse thing yeah it's my adhd just help me lip anyway what i did was i i remember one night i used to like play like games with my teddy bears at night right and one night i i don't know why i this is i can't believe i'm saying this but i i obviously i obviously as like a young kid got horny without realizing it i must have done so i put my teddy bears in a line and got my mum's wooden oh my god i'm so upset my mum's wooden why your mum's as well why wouldn't it just be the wooden spoon from the kitchen. Why do you have to make it even weirder and be like, it was mummy's wooden spoon.

4:20I got the cook's wooden spoon and I put my teddy bears in a row. And I went to them, I went to them, look, I'm like six. I went, look, this is what happens when you're a naughty boy. And I spanked my bum with the wooden spoon. Why? And that obviously didn't deliver enough for me. So I got my Silky.

4:49Olivia Attwood:Wait, hold on, Jamie. I feel like I'm having a fever dream. Are you actually telling us you'd perform BDSMing yourself in front of your stuffed animals? I swear, in front of Simbra and Nala. Anyway, I then got my Silky and went a bit further and tied one end to my penis and another end to the door and I would slam the door shut. so I would go oh it's really it's actually so upsetting as you're saying this I'm just re-evaluating my whole life like why you're locked in honey it's contracted you're locked in to me poor Ziggy poor Ziggy we haven't even got to Ziggy poor Ziggy yeah let's all just take a deep breath but anyway the story of the baby bell the story of the baby yes please so my friend can't eat baby bells there's no word of a lie because he went to a party and he took he took acid by mistake by mistake Oh, I hate when I do that.

5:43Yeah. He took acid by mistake and he didn't realise what was going on and it was so bad he thought it all calmed down by the next day and he went to the supermarket and realised it hasn't because a baby bell, a giant one, started rolling down the aisle towards him and he had to run out.

6:04Olivia Attwood:That would be intense. So he was running through his life while a giant baby chased him through the supermarket. Oh my God. What about you? Have you ever taken acid? yeah and when I do all the baby bells start talking to me guys I don't even know I mean sorry how we sidestep into our little start of the show we normally do yeah I'm actually I'm scared and excited to know what you guys want to leave at the door today so if you want to start with you no don't start with me all right what am I gonna say okay I'm gonna start with um yeah I'm gonna start with mum Seamus nice well that's a good one yeah I was gonna to say like something to do with you but yeah i'll go with that mum shamers okay wait let's just dive in that for a second have you experienced that already already yeah and what is it just like commentary just like it's just like well look it doesn't help that i'm married to him he like literally rage baits the whole world like why are you posting when i look at my wife three weeks postpartum oh and then commenting on looks you just know you're him gassing you up enrages enrages the moms which is a freaking joke like my wife is she's not looking after the kid she's got a personal trainer she's got a private chef she's got a cleaner like none of this is it's like for fuck's sake guys I literally just laid a table for Christmas do you know what I mean?

7:23this wasn't that difficult did you? no it was the clean it was all about me I'm joking she did Sophie put on like the most insane Christmas

7:34Olivia Attwood:I didn't bring your TikTok yeah my parents cook like I did fuck all I literally laid a table that is it like I'm sure you like you were gassing her up because obviously like yeah you've just had a baby and you did host it was in your new home and everything else and you do look amazing yeah but like you say the internet's a weird place because it is yeah you just kind of you know living your life and like trying to feel good and you know get back to a sort of a new normal it does it pisses people off which is weird because I don't know what they're watching you but why does that happen I don't what do you want crying or like complaining you're going to get hate that way as well I do just think it's like this It's like the perpetual loop of being a woman.

8:11Olivia Attwood:Like we are trapped in this guilt cycle. So it's like, you know, no matter what you're doing, society. And so often it's other women want to jump on your back. Do you find that a lot? Yeah. I mean, oh my God. Because I've been told, obviously, that I've dealt with my breakup wrong. That's what people write in my DMs. Or God forbid I post a photo and I'm happy. This is why your relationship broke down. And it's women. It's not women. It's never men. It's their armchair experts. They don't know. So it's the weird parasocialness of social media. They think because of what you do share, they know everything.

8:43Olivia Attwood:So you just see what I want you to see, right? And I'm not the person who's going to cry on my Instagram. I'm just not. And why should you? Why should you? Yeah. So people, I never even thought of the way. So mums want you to act a certain way because that's the way they feel like you should act. And then when you go through a breakup, they want you to be... No, it's not necessarily they think that she... She's criticized. It's critical. It's just retiring other women. And like with Raising Chelsea, the show, I was dumbfounded at the amount of messages I got being like, you should be, the way you treat Jamie is like a dog.

9:16You should be so grateful that he held your hand during your C-section. Don't worry about the fact I'm getting my stomach cut out, open. How many layers of tissue being literally cut? But he held my hand, so like... Yeah. Yeah. And I was great at it. I was holding myself. I was fucking great at it. And I'm glad someone noticed. I'm glad finally it's coming up. You were so, you were overwhelming me. It was too overstimilar. Overwhelming you?

9:39Olivia Attwood:This guy, this low, nonchalant, low-key guy. How could he overwhelm? Overwhelming you. I was like holding your hand, telling you how amazing you were. What, do you want me to say nothing? You're like a shamer. I can't do anything. Like, what? He lives with his own mum shamer. I've been living with a shamer. I'm the troll. Jamie, on that note, what would you like to leave at the door? What would I? Adults who Adults who rollerblade Wait That is so fucking niche I'm kind of not mad at that No I'm Or I think adults Adults who do like Adults who like hopscotch Like adults who like Who the hell hopscotch is And that is the biggest Let's just say Because actually The rollerblading thing Is spreading Because I walk my dogs In Bastie Park And there's a lot of them And they stress One of my dogs out They come zooming past But like When did that become a thing?

10:32What is spreading?

10:33Olivia Attwood:It's like zooming past. It's a thing. It's spreading like coronavirus spread. The rollerblading community is spreading. Oh, the rollerblading. Oh, no, I don't mind rollerblading. Did you think it was like spreading the legs? I didn't understand what it was. No, no, rollerblading. Feel your boots. Rollerblade. Have a great time. I think doing like, like, so, child game. Hold on, you just said leave it at the door. Yeah, solo. Like, solo. I'm so confused. So you want them to do it in a group? If you walked into Hyde Park and saw a grown man doing hopscotch by himself, you'd be freaked out. But if he did it with two of his mates, you'd be like, high five, guys.

11:10Yeah, go and have the funnest time in the world. How many dark coats have you had this morning? I've had one coat of cereal that sent me off my rocket. Cracking ready.

11:18Olivia Attwood:So you would like people to do their niche activities in groups so it makes you feel more comfortable? 100%. Well, they don't have anyone to hopscotch with. Yeah, but then I think find that community somewhere and go and do it. That's what I think. So basically, you're shaming lonely people. Do you want me to change my answer? Yeah. Okay. I will leave at the door. What will I leave at the door? I know what you'll leave at the door. What? Those nootropic coffee thing that I put in your drinks the other day. People who take pre-workout? No, it wasn't pre-workout. I put like, you know, those like mushroom coffee drinks?

11:49Yeah. I put one of those in a smoothie. You wouldn't have fucking had the end of it. He literally lost his mind. He was like, he's going out of my face.

11:58Olivia Attwood:What, as in like you felt like you were like you've been spiked? I don't know if you know, Kimmy, I have energy, right? You can't have a coffee. And if someone then gives me more energy, it's like my body, I would like, I can punch a hole through the roof. Like, I can't handle it. And Sophie made me a smoothie. This is before, this is on the press day of Racing Chelsea. And I was sitting in the car and I was like, I'm fucking about to explode. What's going on? He had dry mouth. He was like, off his tits. It was absolute. I was like, I'm going to crash at some point. This is crazy. Did you crash?

12:29I didn't crash, actually. There you go. I wouldn't do that. Do you know what I would leave at the door? Truthfully, I would leave at the door. I really just can't stand meanness. Truthfully, I think it's the most upsetting thing. When people are mean and rude and just not very nice, I don't like that for some reason. I think probably because I'm such an over, like, how are you the whole time that I don't like that. So anyone who's mean, they can stay at the door.

12:52Olivia Attwood:What do you define as mean? Because I think that it's, again, being girls. And like, I reckon that you, with Raising Chelsea, have had this. People are like, oh, she's mean, she's this. It's hard because if you don't overcompensate, sometimes people... But I think that if you're a mature adult, when someone's mean, it's like they're unkind. They make people feel small. They make them feel insignificant. Totally. But it feels like as a woman, if you're not overcompensating, you're automatically put in mean category. I completely agree. And I'm not on over because in that case, you would think I'm mean.

13:26Olivia Attwood:When you encounter someone, you think this is a mean guy or girl. What is it? Well, there's a difference, right? So Sophie, like saying to people in Raising Chelsea, oh, you're treating her like a dog. Not at all. What Sophie is, Sophie is, and you're the same. You can't be anything but authentic. And it's such a good quality to have, right? If you're, same as, I'll talk about Sophie because I don't know you as well as I know Sophie. Really? Yeah. But with Sophie, If Sophie is sad, she is sad. If she is happy, she's happy. If she's grumpy, she's grumpy. If she's cross, she's cross, right? It's just so, that's what you get.

13:59You're so real.

13:59Olivia Attwood:Yes. Which is such a great quality to have. And sometimes people can mistake that, potentially, for being like, well, why is she not being happy? I'm just, I don't, Sophie doesn't feel the need to have to cover stuff up to make other people feel comfortable. Where I probably do, even if I was in a grumpy mood or whatever mood, I'm fine, don't worry about it. Oh no, are we okay? which actually is a bad quality for me so that's not like meanness or anything I just I love being authentic is the coolest thing mean people I think are when I just don't like they try to tear other people down it's not that it's when someone is potentially weaker than the other person and they use that against them and they can tear them down for laughter or make other people you can make someone feel small because they know they can make them feel small in a group of people I hate that and you know I always say this to you one of the coolest things and it sort of changed my whole perspective perspective um we had like a like a dinner party type thing once years and years ago i was like in my young 20s and a guy they were talking around the table he was going from one person next and they were talking badly about this person right it was going around the table and this guy had come in um who didn't know anyone i was slightly friends with him and it got to him and he said in front of the whole group he didn't know he said i don't know why everyone's talking so badly about that person i actually think they're really nice they're not here to defend themselves i'm actually going to leave this.

15:17I love that. And he walked out. And I was like, that is the, that is like the most confident best thing I've ever seen. And from that moment, I realized that actually it's just not a good thing to like join, I think joining the kind of like crowd just because people are saying something is not a good thing. So yeah, that's what I would leave at the door. That's a great answer. I love that. And I also agree with you. Yeah. So what am I leaving at the door? Reform. Is that what I'm leaving at the door? And it's gone political. Is that what I'm leaving at the door? I don't know.

15:47Olivia Attwood:No, no. Right, let's talk about Raising Chelsea. Okay. Guys, what, episode three, it's three in total, right? It's three in total, yeah. So three are on Disney right now to stream. What has the reaction been like? What is it like putting the most intimate moments of your life, probably so far since birth, on telly? Yeah, it's been pretty wild. And I feel like everyone's reacted in such a nice way. I think with Raising Chelsea, well, with our podcast, we're obviously so, you know, we talk about our arguments, like everything's bad. And I think with Raising Chelsea, it was the same. And so people have seen, they knew what they were sort of in for, but they were surprised to see so much of how real it was.

16:32Like, it was so real. There were so many times the cameras were filming. I was like, guys, come on, like, surely you want me to be doing something right now? Like, you can't actually be filming this. like this is me cooking dinner it's so fucking boring like should we have a fight or something and they were like no no we just want to film this yeah we just want to watch so i feel like everyone's been so amazing yeah you've done this before right so so so you get it we filmed for a year and a half yeah right to get into three episodes that's what i was gonna say because

17:01Olivia Attwood:people like i don't want to spoil the magic so we won't do too much production chat but what goes into making three hours of telly is insane it's insane insane i think it's very hard for people the other side to grasp. It takes over your whole life. Also, we filmed before, during and after Sophie being pregnant. So when we started filming, we didn't know Sophie was going to fall pregnant. So we had no clue. So the whole narrative changed. And going into it, having come from like Made in Chelsea and sort of structured reality and everything around that, where you don't really have control over the edit, which is fine, we're kind of okay with that, but whatever.

17:35We were like, do we... So we armed and aahed about this for so long. So long. To the point where Sophie said, I don't want to do it. Sophie was like, I'm not doing it. I was like, man, I just feel like it could be good. Look, it's Disney Plus, great platform, amazing, super premium. It feels exciting. And I love nothing more than real storytelling. And so this was the opportunity. So when we went into it, we said, okay, if we're going to do this, it has to be super real. It can't be anything but real. And they went, no, of course we'll make it real. I said, no, but you have to follow everything.

18:09I don't think you could do it any other way. I couldn't do it any other way, which was exactly it. And that's why it felt really right with them because they usually do documentaries. So they were like, we don't want any performing. This is Dorothy Street, the production company. And like occasionally, you are like a performer. There were times on camera I'd be like, stop. But you could turn it on if you needed to.

18:30Olivia Attwood:But let's say if you're having a bad day or like you don't like, for example, your cinema surprise, you're not going to hide it. You're not going to give them a reaction. You're going to give them your honest reaction. which then balances out right because I like I'm a sort of slightly volumed up version of myself always like unless I'm by myself I'm always a little bit sort of like this where Sophie is just so normal so Sophie will be like doesn't change no matter where she is Sophie will be like who the fuck when we film who the fuck are you talking to why are you fucking acting like that you'd never say that in real life and they were like yeah like she's like why are you who are you talking to I don't get what you're talking who are you talking to and I'm like what do you mean this is how I talk but it was amazing and I think for what was so insane is pregnancy well for Sophie I think just from my point of view oh my god he tells everyone this he's like pregnancy is so tough it is tough I just hate I hated being pregnant I didn't love being pregnant I can't say I hated it episode one you open you're cooking dinner and you're talking about always don't you think talking about conceiving is the weirdest thing because you're basically like oh in a minute we're going to go and have some sets of sex it's just the weirdest thing it's the most unsexy thing can I tell that story of what what it's like oh my god you really want to go there yes I think we do okay so that's so much convincing oh my god I think I've already told you but I'll say you have not told this have I not tell it okay like it's honestly like having sex when you know you need to perform it's like scary but you know you have to do it you know you have to do it it's not scary for us I was quite like like socks on, jumper on, like, hi, come on, I'm ready.

20:10He was like, I'm freaking out. It was like, honestly, for some reason, every part of my being was like, don't do this. And I was like, what's going on? So nothing was working. And I was like, I'm so sorry. Wait, nothing was working? Nothing was working. Oh, Jesus. Raging. I was like, this is fucking. And she was like, I'm ovulating. And I was like, how long for? The pressure got to you. So much pressure. So much pressure. It was like so, so long.

21:43Olivia Attwood:But I mean, you talked quite candidly on the show about you knew where you were at first. Like you want to start a family. You were ready. You were like, I like my routine. I like going to the gym. I like going to work. so do you think your body was almost like you were thinking about you know you're doing you're gonna conceive was you like you're freaked out you were nervous weren't you well i i think i think yeah i definitely was really nervous and i think the difference is with sophie is like having so i've said this like a million times not a million times i've said it to you lots like watching sophie become a mum is the coolest thing i've ever seen in my entire life like you you really like i obviously sophie's so beautiful and so funny and so smart and all the things that i feel like lucky that she has.

22:24But honestly, the most attractive thing I've ever seen in her is her becoming a mom. Because when Ziggy was born, it was this natural thing where I wouldn't know what to do. And Sophie just held him and it was kind of amazing. And it was so beautiful. And becoming a dad and fearing about that, I just knew it wasn't going to be as natural for me because I couldn't imagine becoming a dad, really. I was like, I don't really know what to do. Pepsi Prebiotic Cola, an original and cherry vanilla. That Pepsi taste you love, with no artificial sweeteners and three grams of prebiotic fiber. Pepsi Prebiotic Cola, unbelievably Pepsi.

23:04And for Sophie, who's always wanted to be a mom, was like, no, I definitely know what it's going to be like. It's going to be okay. So there was a bit of like, I couldn't picture it. I was like, well, hang on a second. Will I be able to do this? Will I be able to do that? And Sophie's like, you'll be able to do everything. We just got... You were scared. I was really quite scared. And also, I don't think people talk about it enough because there's something about being naive and having kids. So when you have kids younger...

23:26Olivia Attwood:I agree with this. You don't really know what... You're not setting your routine. You also don't have your careers where they're at. I think it's scarier to... Like, when you get older and your career's going right and you've got money and you're like, my life's fucking great. So then it's scarier. If you have a kid... You have people that got pregnant when they were like 21. They don't know what they're missing. They just fucking get on with it. Yeah, or if you go a little bit... This prime point now where life is really good, you've hit the sweet spot it's almost a fear of like you say launching into oh like do we need this other element because everything's so good and it's going you know the things you work towards are coming into existence but so for that so for you career wise yeah it's scary because when the time where people typically want to have kids you're so right you're at the peak you're at your peak which is it is scary and it's still it's like a massive juggle like I'm still like oh my fucking god how am I doing this but I want to talk about on that more but I want to ask you do you remember the first moment you felt like a dad?

24:19That's such a good question. That's such a great question. I imagine you still haven't got there yet. Yeah, not yet. Let us know.

24:25Olivia Attwood:We can always put it in. Yeah. Can I get back to you on that one? You know, because I talk to a lot of my friends who've had kids and they say, because obviously you're carrying the baby. There is, I think people like don't talk about, there's a disconnect. That baby's not in you. So then the first time you feel that is when you hold your baby is the first time you feel. And then I guess that, I've spoken to some men in my, they're like it's when the first time the child grabbed my hand or when they you looked at me or laughed at me like you know it's like then I felt that connection that maybe to mothers comes a lot more instantly yeah I think it's so true and you have said that haven't you yeah I think I think what happened when there's this whole like psychological thing right which is where so at um when Ziggy was first born and he was asleep because he sleeps in the cot next to us right so he was sleeping in the cot next to us uh when sophie would hear him cry or make a noise she'd be up in a second yeah right i didn't hear that what i heard was noises outside so when there was noises outside i became protective of like is there someone is there an intruder is there something so what happened to me i became really protective of our family right and i wasn't so like protective of like sophie or our baby so it was just more like this is my unit this is my team i need to protect us now it's quite animalistic isn't And I think for me, it was like, it was, it wasn't, it was strange, right?

25:49Because you're like, okay, now we have this baby. The truth is, I was expecting it to be really tough. And it's so much better. And so much lovely and so much more awesome than anything I thought it was going to be. So that was... It was going to be so tough. I reckon the whole year, going up to it every day, he'd be like, like, we know it's going to be really, really hard. And I was a bit like, okay, can we just like live in ignorance? I don't want to hear. excited like just be excited so i was expecting was it other people's experiences i think it's

26:17Olivia Attwood:like a bit of oversharing online there's almost a bit scaremongering around was it like what was it that you were so nervous about just losing your freedom right and also i went to boarding school so i lost my freedom right when i was like young age from eight to 18 i was at a boarding school and then i did made in chelsea which you also lose your freedom yeah right so i'd lost my freedom for so much of my life and then i'd gained it back and i was like well am i going to lose it again and that was a big fear for me but the moment that i felt like a dad was i think probably there was a moment when ziggy were got upset he cried and i he does that a lot yeah he no but he was like i had a cry and i picked him up and as as a baby he he like put his head into my neck like that put his head into my neck and he sort of and he was really sleepy and she put his head into my neck and like fell asleep like that and that was the moment i was like oh my god you comforted him he's like yeah he's like my baby that's my baby yeah you're kidding me and then actually weirdly last night he also cried and sophie ran upstairs and on our monitor you can talk to him and i spoke to him and when i spoke to him he calmed down and that was like oh my god he like recognized he recognized the voice and so those little moments are like but the only thing i could whether or not you want to have kids right it's totally up to you whether like some Some people can't have kids and some people can't have kids.

27:38Some people don't. Whatever you do, whatever you want to do. But for people who are umming and ahhing about having kids and whether or not they want to have it, I would say that if you do go down, you're worried about it. It's a fucking awesome adventure. And Sophie is now like my right or left arm. Weirdly, even though you argue more, even though you're more stressed with each other, even though I piss her off even more, it's like we're bonded like, hey.

28:06Olivia Attwood:We're like a team. Yeah, we're like, hey. I would say we're pretty unbreakable now. Just pretty, yeah. No, no, it doesn't. It takes your relationship into a different level. You've gone through this thing together, like childbirth. Yeah. Are you enjoying mum being like a new mum rather than pregnancy? You were not a fan. I mean. Which I feel like people get really, look, like you say, there's all this stuff some people can't carry, so obviously the idea of... Well, exactly, yeah. But you're also entitled to not enjoy something. look it's not that I wasn't grateful that I was able to be pregnant but like I was so fucking uncomfortable like I felt sick the whole time I was so starving every second of the day I like wanted to eat everything inside and like I couldn't move like you're constipated from start to finish no start that was my I was foul mood I've never seen someone eat a bigger bowl of cereal in my entire life and the fact you constantly bring that up it annoys me because Jamie I need to explain No, no.

29:05I want to get a bowl and show it to you.

29:07Olivia Attwood:Like that kind of size? Baby Bell Bowl? Bell. Now at McDonald's, a McDouble is$2.50. So you can get your gym gains on. Or just get lunch. For only$2.50. Get more value on the under$3 menu. Limited time only. Prices and participation may vary. Prices may be higher for delivery. It's bigger. Maybe bigger. I'm not. Sophie filled and it was... I did like tears. So I did like crunchy nut. Then I did shreddies. then I did like grape nuts then Cheerios all in my mouth and then I filled it up again have you ever seen yeah don't I see you judging me have you ever seen Forgetting Sarah Marshall where he gets broken up with and he eats or he does he's on the sofa it was like that and I was like is that is that a liter of milk you were shaming me you couldn't like you know when you're really hungover but not hungover you feel sick when you can't stop eating it it's like that and then on top of it you're not going for a poo shit so then you're like you've got a baby and you're bloated and you're backed up, oh my God.

30:04Olivia Attwood:Yeah. I would be the Antichrist. You guys have to put a muzzle on me. I'm not even joking. I tried to muzzle Sophie and give her a walk in Bassey Park. But can I just say, you also, like, I say this every time, but I salute all women now who have gone through it because my God, no dude out there should ever, they should not say anything. like I there were parts where I was a bit like when are you gonna start I know I'm gonna try but there were parts where I was a bit like oh but you know this and that and now it just you going through all of that and me just just like a complete newfound respect I will always I will always be her cheerleader for the rest of her life 100 % because it was just unbelievable why the lindo wing?

30:51Olivia Attwood:I actually couldn't tell you did you shop around? because you know like I priced up my ideal pregnancy situation a couple of years ago that shit is not true oh no we did go shopper and we went to the portland yeah that was on my list do you know what it reminded me of it reminded me of like the human centipede oh oh my gosh sorry portland please like it was so clinical it was so you know like people were staying there for like three weeks yeah and i just wanted a little bit of like the og like feeling like there were midwives and nurses whereas it felt it felt like ai do you know what i mean it felt like you would have been like do do do and your baby would have just come out of a door yeah i've heard yeah i've heard some wild stories like women going booking and they do a general and a c-section and they wake them up like you know like that afternoon like here's your baby well yeah at the point apparently you can get a tummy tuck which i actually when he said to me i'm gonna give you a c-section i was like can you do me a tummy tuck and what did he say is it true he laughed in my face and i mean this is like emergency c-section remember it was emergency i was in i was in i was like fully i was like shaking crying I was like sis we know you can get our tummy tuck and he was like no and then he was and you say that yeah like what's in the midst of that you tried to make me happy you were like joking you were like Sophie it means don't worry it means you can get your tummy tuck and I'm joking was I saying that and I went deadly serious oh my god does it actually mean go on he was like next time when that emergency C-section obviously it happened it was so stressful like you do you is it blur for you or do you remember I don't remember much But you were, I feel like you, it sounds like you don't remember much either.

32:28Olivia Attwood:Were you like, do you black out? Kind of like just blind panic. It's because like, I feel like we just, everything you can, if you want to get drunk, you have a drink. If you want to be entertaining, you watch YouTube. If you want to find something out, you AI it. Like everything's like there, right? And then suddenly you're in a situation where we, and we were always told by a doctor, like never have a blueprint, right? Because it can change up. But everyone does. Everyone does. And we were there and then, and it's also your distress and your heightened, your worrying, all these different things.

32:54and then he said we have to do emergency selection we have to do it now and you're a bit like and look healthy happy baby everything else is a bonus right that's all you want and suddenly you start to get in your head you're like okay well what happens if something goes wrong here what happens if something happens so i was in a real state of just thinking you suddenly get intrusive thoughts i suddenly what happens if sophie's not okay like what is it my baby's not okay and it was just more like that those intrusive thoughts coming and like you know when you're trying to shake your head like just let those go and I didn't want Sophie to see that I was scared or emotional so I was trying to cover I was trying to stay away from her to like cover up my emotions because normally I'm pretty good in those situations he was like really shaken up

33:33Olivia Attwood:I was really quite shaken he was crying a lot and I was like it's a very very scary situation to be in how did you manage to keep your composure as much as you could? I don't think I really did I just was focusing on Soph and just making sure she was okay when it like I don't it's all it was so I mean the birth is like a jungle. Honestly, it's like, Jesus, what's going on here? This is crazy. When it finished, I felt like I'd been back from Vietnam. Honestly, I was like... You did. You did. It was like a nabomb. I was like... I've just been chilling, but you've been to war. I think so if you felt...

34:07Yeah, I couldn't generally... We had to stay in the hospital the next night and I generally couldn't wake up. That he couldn't wake up. The baby was crying and I was like, fucking wake up. And he was like... And then we got home and about a week later, he went, oh my God, I think I've got PTSD from your birth. I was like, you fucking joking? No, no, honey. I felt like, you know when you suddenly, you know when you're on holiday and suddenly the crickets stop making the noise and you're like, oh, they've stopped making, oh, there's aircon, the aircon suddenly goes off and you're like, oh, there was aircon in the room.

34:34I was like walking around for about a week and then suddenly I obviously think my anxiety just went, and I went, oh, fuck, I feel like I'm back to earth. That was insane. It was really emotional. But the thing that calmed me down was one of the midwives came in and I was just trying to cover up my tears and I'm really not a crier. I don't really cry that much. And she came up to me and said, are you all right? And I went, yeah, I'm just feeling it. And she went, oh, it's your first. Okay, don't worry. And that made me go, okay, maybe I'm just boring. Also kind of me. It's just like, shut up, it's your first.

35:06It was like this. The operation was literally like moving like roadblocks. It was just like, oh, right, here we go, guys. Now I'm doing this. and then when Ziggy came out it was it was like pulling a drain out of a pipe like it was like I mean a rat out of a pipe why what are you what why it was like do you like how what was in your coffee or your coat was it

35:31Olivia Attwood:I guess had you romanticised what a newborn baby looks like did you expect it to be so like blue it was kind of amazing the whole thing was so amazing you were like quite like at the end of it what's not on camera well it was on camera but it didn't get put on the show as Jamie stands up and he goes thank you thank you very much everybody as though like we've been in a conference I was like what are you doing everyone's like no worries I love that you're in that state but you still were lying back probably thinking shut the fuck up I was like what are you who are you thanking it's me no no I was just thanking everyone in there because they did such a good job I think he like shook everyone's head I did yeah that's that boarding school etiquette oh my god he's very I know it never turns off I wish it was because everyone did such an amazing job and those honestly those those doctors and those nurses and those midwives like in every in the hospitals they are so amazing yeah like they are they do that day in day out it is insane i always think that when we think we've had a stressful day at work and then you think what some people actually do for work it's like then you get like really humbled and you think yeah and they are so cool though they're just they're they're the best people in the world The fact that they do that day in, day out, and they're helping people, it's just amazing.

37:10Olivia Attwood:hands batiste dry shampoo is one of those everyday hair staples that just makes life easier a few quick sprays and your hair looks fresher feels better and smells amazing and it's not just for greasy roots use it after a workout to extend a blow dry add a bit of texture or volume or leave your hair smelling great with fragrances for whatever mood you're in so go on past the batiste

37:38Olivia Attwood:was there ever times when obviously things real things are happening like that you had emergency c-sexual stuff's going on where you like thought there shouldn't be cameras here or was it were you too in it to think about cameras they almost they became like furniture no there was definitely time truthfully I and you'll understand this there was so many times that I was just like that's not gonna get kept in or I will get that taken out yeah that's what my thinking was and then it was like looking back at it i was like no do you know what we'll keep it in just because it is real it's the truth but that's how i sort of cope with things like that in my head i'm like there's just no way they'll keep that in like someone will sort that out and they'll get cut out but it all it all got kept in but the bath wasn't they they weren't in the room with us your own footage it was our own footage so and i was never gonna put any of that in and then looking back at it i was like you know what it's actually it felt so emotional to me and i was actually like really proud of it so i was like it deserves i'm not we've been filming 50 months i was like if i don't put that in it feels it feels like a shame yeah and it was a beautiful the way it was done was lovely and like you said then you don't have to have them in the room with you what was the first night at home was ziggy like do you remember oh my god talk about that this like and then maybe it's not your experience but like it's like very quiet in the house like peaceful or was it chaos?

38:57It was chaos. We called the hospital three times. We were like, there's something wrong with our baby. He won't stop pooing. And they were like, what do you mean? And then as we were on the phone to them, I was like changing his nappy. I was like, he's on another one. Oh my God, and he's weeing. And then as that was happening, he was like being sick. He was crying. And then I had like, I wore these nighties, which are real sexy. Were you a topless? No, I wasn't. I had these nighties on, but when I used breastfeed, I would like put them above my head. so it was like just naked with like my huge udders like a cow yeah so so unsexy like also shut up and also like guys just had a c-section like scarring everything's going on it's not beautiful at all and we were on the phone to the hospital and i was like oh my god he's peeing and jay was like what where's it coming from and i looked down it was just like my booze were just like spraying like spraying spray it's right like a fountain out of her nipples and i was like this is like firstly fascinating like secondly like this is i should be in a nightclub what's going on like this is we were like and they were like you're doing great on the phone to us we don't

40:07Olivia Attwood:think we are was it just you guys the first night when you went back yeah and you were like literally you've got this human that you need to look after and you're like what the hell no no honestly and then like it's mad it was so mad and then i would and i do you know when you you go to a wedding you don't really know anyone then you're by yourself and you just act busy like you'd like Is that what you would do? You like move glasses around. You constantly move your tie. You're like talking to a curtain because you don't really know what to do. You know that feeling, right? Just acting busy. It's a spare part.

40:34So no one's coming up to you. Rummaging in your bag. I was like doing that with Sophie. Sophie was like, oh, I need a muslin. I was like, right. I would like run up the stairs. He'd like go to John Lewis in Chelsea to get a muslin. I'd be like, they're just upset. Yeah, I would like just acting busy. And then Sophie was like, I need food. And I was like, right, I'll do a shop. And I drive a Vespa. and I was like on my Vespa and I was like just driving on the Vespa to like Marks and Spencers and I was like driving to Marks and Spencers to get food and I was like, could just keep driving. He was gone for like a whole day.

41:06Would that be a bad look? Like if I could just drive to Costa Rica.

41:12Olivia Attwood:I love this one thing I do, fleeing on the Vespa. Like on the M25. I don't know how to hit it. But then that's just the chaos and it's very... But I actually loved like for me the first month was like nothing that was my favourite time like I was just like in a bubble nothing I didn't think about work I didn't think about anything other than I was just living in it whereas I feel like for the men or for you it was obviously a different experience I just can't tell you how natural Sophie was it was like like I imagine it would be like if you if it was an apocalypse and suddenly you were like standing next to Bear Grylls you'd be like oh thank god like thank god that's so lovely yeah it was like it was like that it was like I just knew that Sophie kind of an instinct of what to do do you think your sister helped you a lot with that because you've you're close to a sister aren't you you've watched her with her babies I think so I think my sisters yeah I also have like just always I've always loved babies and I'm like and obviously I'd been with my sister's baby so I had that you knew how to hold a baby and I do just think when it's your own something comes over you because you know some of my friends have just had newborns and like none of us have held babies before but you feel really comfortable holding your own so it's just different whereas I feel like for the men I'm so worried about the neck because they're so flimsy aren't they they're so flimsy but look I don't love holding other people's babies I'm really conscious but mine I'm like it's just different how's Penny?

42:44Olivia Attwood:she's great this is my mum what do you think about mommy? I have a massive issue with mummy obviously of course I do like come on I don't call my mum thank you mummy you do though you do it's on the TV show you know what fuck it she's my mum she's my freaking mummy and like I do not call her mummy I call her mum or mama mama's like all so bad right my mum is like a bull though honestly like she's a lot to deal with your mum reminds me of my mum a little bit just like just straight in there doesn't give a fuck yeah she's so good Yeah, very funny, witty, like, yeah. But also has that other side of it, which is like, she has that.

43:26My mum, we know that. My mum, when I was a kid, she was like, do you know what I did with you as a kid? I was like, what? She said, I put you in a pram, left you under a tree.

43:35Olivia Attwood:My God, my mum said this to me. In a silver cross pram. She's leaving the end of the garden. Oh no, just left you under a tree in winter. Right, so I'm seeing this. This is why we're like this. This is why we're like this. I've never said that to boarding school. Yeah. This is why we're like this. You know what I said to her? I was like, she left me under a tree. And then what did you do? And I went back every two hours. You weren't dead. So it was fine. I was like, what happened if he cried? She was like, well, I don't know. I didn't hear it. And then who else my mum said to me? And this is, I hope your listeners will really forgive.

44:02Because she was like, you know, like so many things my mum said. My mum was like, and then sometimes when I would, I would give you off to, you know, the nanny or whatever. And I think, you're not my responsibility now. So I was like. No, no. This is what she said to me, guys. She goes, listen, Sophie. She called me up when I was pregnant. and she was like, right, 101, you've got to get yourself a maternity nurse. I was like, okay.

44:22Olivia Attwood:What a woman. I love Penny. I don't love the idea of having like some other woman. It's not like sat and then I've got to make small talk with her all day like that. And then I'm going to end up looking after the maternity nurse. She was like, look, if the baby's sick or crying, it's not your problem. It's the maternity nurse. It's their responses, not mine. I was like, I don't think I'm going to be thinking that. I was like, sorry, you're on loudspeaker, mum. Like, what is going on? I said to my mum, like the other day, like this is, I remember that my, and I, by the way, I love my mum so much.

44:54And she's amazing for so many other reasons. And she was a great mum. She turned up every single time. She never let me down. Most reliable person. But she does have quite a tough side. And, you know, when I spoke, I remember talking to her about, and forgive me if I have any audiences who don't know this, but when I spoke to her about Father Christmas, right?

45:12Olivia Attwood:There shouldn't be anyone listening to this podcast that doesn't know Father Christmas is not real. Cover your kids' ears right now. They are listening. The parenting needs to be assessed. If you're in a car and this is playing out loud, just cover your kids. Turn it off right now. Because I'm going to say something. It's going to be a bit of a shock. But when my mum, I asked my mum when I was about six years old if Father Christmas existed, right? And we were on the way to Toys R Us. I remember it so well. And she said just straight up no. Like straight up no. And I was like crushed. That's evil.

45:39Yeah. Six. Or five. And what was her reason for just crushing that magic for you? No idea. No, that's six. I was 16 I can understand it she doesn't want me to get bullied because I was going to Toys R Us which we I didn't go to Toys R Us I passed 7 I remember so that happened and then I phoned my mum up and I said mum why did you used to send me to like summer camps and boarding schools and ski school all the like why do you send me always to a school is it because you didn't want to you know you couldn't be bothered to look after me and she said yes and I was like just ease me into it no she's like

46:13Olivia Attwood:she's just she's just real She's just like straight down the line, boom, that's how she is. So for poor Sophie, it's quite a lot to have a mother-in-law. She's like, what are you mean by just sending him away? Yeah, I'm just like... Where Sophie's parents, Patrik and Sarah, are like honestly the... Is your mum's more lovey, more tactile? She's actually not very tactile, is she? And she's not like, she loves us. she loves her own kids but she was she's not like a mum a mumsy mum but like she she's yeah we're really close but she's like one of the girls like she's like she's like one of your mates me my sister my mum we're like best friends do you know what I mean so it is different yeah but they are but we're closer in a different way right our families are very very very different yeah but if but your parents are so lovely and so the kindest and the most wonderful I honestly think if you phoned up your dad and you said oh dad I learnt to clap today he would honestly be like you're a genius you are my dad actually you are my dad generally like Sophie could be she could run for prime minister like she's so bright and I'm like are you talking about the same person?

47:27Olivia Attwood:yeah this is obviously quite a way away would you do boarding school for your kids? do you talk about it? I just don't we just don't you probably would want to no I wouldn't you're quite like seven shit them off you've got quite a lot of your mum's traits running through your veins don't you he's thinking already Timbuktu Switzerland get out of here no I look I think the way that I view these things is I don't know what our future holds for like us and like schools are expensive if you want and like and there are some brilliant state schools and I'm not just saying like from like a PR point of view it's just actually true but I think look whatever whatever you want to do with your kids I just think I just want to try and give them the best opportunity for them each child's so different so as Ziggy grows up you'll know what he needs and what will be best for him as he develops.

48:14Olivia Attwood:You might want to go to stage school. Literally. You might. I mean, with a wallflower like you as a father. Let's lavender marriage over here. Can we talk about the lavender marriage? Is it exhausting being his beard? It really is. Guys, my back is aching. Guys, can I just say, I'm not gay. How do you? I would say today is the most gay you've ever been. So you're not helping the room. So you're flamboyant on another level today. What? Because I'm just like freaking cool and comfortable. So shoot me. So this, just for back reference, we're not outing Jamie on this podcast. This is for Daily Mail commenters, which you like to have a lot of fun with on your socials.

48:59Olivia Attwood:They basically say there's something off about this relationship. This man is gay. How does that make you feel? I'm serious. I honestly... Wait, how bad are the comments? because I obviously don't see half of these. I wouldn't read them. They're not great. Are they all saying it? They're not great. Well, are they all gunning for the lavender marriage? Also, I didn't know it was called a lavender marriage. That sounds quite lovely, doesn't it? I know. I'm night down for that. I thought they were just saying that we have like a lovely, flowery, gorgeous marriage. I'm sure. When I first started my...

49:26This is where I really... You're not calling me a fucking bitch. Yeah, I know. I know. But that happens in the day. But then I was like, well, that only stays there. But then when I started my Radio 1 show with my great buddy Vic Hope, who's married to Calvin Harris, don't try and say that she also gets called a lavender marriage because you want to just compare yourself to Calvin Harris no no no Vic who I think she had a bit of a tick at the beginning she was like oh by the way I was we'd just done the Brits that year or whatever we'd been at the Brits hosting the Red Cup or whatever we were doing and she said oh you'll never guess what my husband said and I was like Calvin Harris what did he say and she was like oh he saw a picture of you in the mail and Vic was like oh that's my co-host and Calvin Harris said who's that with him and Vic said that's his wife and he went oh I thought he was gay so it's like spread like it's spreading out which by the way I think it's a compliment I'm in for it I think also like you love a heel man I'm freaking you love dyeing your hair you love Botox he went and got laser last night I never had freaking he had a skin done he got laser last night no this is such horse shit he came back let me tell you I'm going to tell you what fucking happened he's in a foul mood right I'm not in foul mood foul mood he gets in with my friend Elle heart medical she's so fucking hard to get into she does him a favour she puts him at 7.30pm he's like I'm not gonna go I'm exhausted I'm like go and get that fucking laser he calls me on the way back he's like I just have so much respect for you women like he had IPL I was like baby it's so that's like entry level entry he was like I am in shock at the pain you go through I was like that's nothing I had CO2 laser at Christmas I was down to the core I'm gonna give me the conch for a second I'm gonna tell you like if I was babe you've had the conch for the whole the whole fucking hour I'm falling asleep because I've not spoken in an hour are you serious we're all gasping

51:13Olivia Attwood:I keep trying to bring Sophie in oh my god I keep trying to bring Sophie Sophie's in this really hot studio Sophie's losing consciousness I'm like I deal with this I hear this boy's droning on hours all day like this is like it's music making me go to sleep right now it's white noise machine it's white noise okay this is the last thing I'll say then I can have the conch alright I'm so sorry I'm so sorry if I've been speaking too much just have so much to say it's like Liv asked a question and it's like four different stories is it really so for my side I love it you make my job I don't know I could just throw these out the window but like I just want Sophie to be involved honey you are honey she's the boss of us she's the boss of the family oh I know about that okay this is the time for me to actually talk I don't have a voice in our relationship she gets in the car she beats me yeah she's it's scary please I'm sorry Sophie don't do it again okay go on anyway I would just be a shit woman honestly like if I was a woman I'd be so shit because honestly I like as much as Sophie I don't have anything but Sophie was like go and have this laser stuff because I had this rosy cheeks which I think is quite nice anyway she thinks otherwise I'm like get in the chat honestly and I went to this this Elle who's so lovely this person who's really good friends with Sophie and she's amazing she's honestly an expert at what she does yeah she gave me these goggles that I put on that were like clamped around my eyes and I couldn't see anything and she gave me a teddy bear to hold and I was like, what the fuck's going on?

52:39And then she was like, right, you're going to feel like a flash. And honestly, it was like, flash, flash. I thought it was a Narnia. I was like, where the hell am I? And it was so painful. Oh my God, it wasn't painful. It's like a tiny little beast. The most painful thing ever. And I came out of it and I was like, oh my God. I just want to know about the CO2 laser because you look phenomenal. No. Unbelievable.

53:02Olivia Attwood:unbelievable because the co2 laser is like the most aggressive lazy i know like a lot of people have it when they're asleep after a facelift i did it at christmas like it's do you know where i know you're hardcore like me like you're down for the results i'll push through i like i self medicated with a couple of codeines before and i had the stress ball and i just how bad is it it's fucking painful but it's it's like you know you do one side and you're a bit like oh my god i can't do that and then like you take a little break and you just do it and then it just feels the aftermath looks horrific but it's not painful but the thing with you is that you don't care about downtime which I have so much respect because I'm like need to get it all done but I'm like constantly trying to find like weeks I've got off and stuff and you just can't ever fucking do anything with our job a thing in my family and obviously you host Christmas whatever that's my off season I've turned up in a head bandage the last three Christmases and my mum was like we don't have one family photo because of you and your treatments I look like I've come from a mental asylum like I had I had oozing scabs at Christmas dinner I had to eat like this I had to like push my food into the corner of my mouth and chewed like this like yeah every Christmas because when else can we do it when else but I have so much respect I'm booking everything in for Christmas time that's a really good idea and the families have to deal with it and who gives a crap about photos I have so much respect for you guys because honestly like Kate like as a guy you've got to just like shave your face and wax and dojo and like whatever.

54:29Sofa's like, oh, you think that laser thing is sore? I have to do threading of my eyebrows. Oh my God. I actually think I'd rather every an injectable than for me. The threading of the eyebrows is fine. And she said she does it every 10 days and I'm like, I couldn't do that every 10 days, that laser thing. That, plus you, you know, you have to like shave everywhere and I... Laser on your vagina? Fuck. Just don't think I would like do it. And like, if I, if I would, I'm not kidding you. If I, if I come back as a woman, right i i'm i'm not shaving but i'm just going free the nipple hairy armpit i don't care i don't good on you for like not having to feel like you have to keep yourself like in that space i know

55:10Olivia Attwood:it's exhausting but going back to work has that been like is that is that feel like good or is it felt like you feel you feel torn i feel really torn i think i'm getting to grips with it now now that he's a bit older but at the beginning it was so hard because like you said we spoke about it like not that I'm at the peak of my career at all but like I'm in a place I've worked really hard exactly I've worked really hard to get here I'm getting the opportunities that I'm so grateful to get and then on the other hand like I'm having to leave my son at the beginning of the morning and coming back just before he's going to sleep and that was really hard and I've massively struggled the mum guilt like I've spoken to so many of my friends and like some mums get it some mums don't some mums get it like a tiny bit and then once they get to work they're like i've had it where all day i'm like on the brink of tears and i'm just like at photo shoots and i'm just like please no you're doing something you've probably dreamed of your whole life exactly like i want to be in this but my head is somewhere else my head's somewhere else it's really hard i think i'm getting to grips with it now and like now he's getting a bit older and like i think he's got a bit of a routine and i can just manage my time so that i'm there when he's awake and when he's sleeping i go out and do do what i need to do but like it's it's so hard but also i do want to say like we have our business jamper right which we could like we which we founded together and you know how jamper which was our media business which like looks after loads of different shows and digital shows and things like that but the kind of core of it right which has started was mine and so's podcast that we do together which was like nearly weds the newlyweds the nearly parents right and we paused it and look the business can survive right but we have 20 staff maybe 25 staff now you know a team who are just incredible and like they're insane and you know our sort of show slightly depends on some of those people who have those jobs right so Sophie knew going into maternity leave because you know we haven't said that but our podcast we're bringing back which is really exciting is this an exclusive?

57:04it's an exclusive guys and actually

57:05Olivia Attwood:when this episode goes out you will be back on air we're back on air and it's going to be called Newly Parents come on there we go don't worry about it This is what everyone's been waiting for. Don't worry about it. Don't worry about it. Don't worry about it, guys. You thought we were going to go. But we're not. There's another layer to this. But so Sophie knew, and as a founder, she kind of knew that she had like four months. Before she starts recording again. Before she starts coming back to work and having to manage and do all these different things. And I think as a mum, that's a lot of pressure.

57:37Olivia Attwood:It's a lot of pressure. Because you don't know what you're going to feel like or if your energy is going to be there. or you know so is mum also like your brain like I've definitely I'm so the tiredness like I'm just not funny but my friends have had kids recently they saw what this like you know people talk about it in a sort of they use it as like a bit of a derogatory dig like mum brain but your brain actually biologically changes for is it a year before your brain chemistry goes back to what it was pre-pregnancy and so like memory like things like that tiredness everything I'm so slow like I can't I can't people crack a joke and I'm like huh I'm in the car leaving and I'm like, oh, that's what they were laughing at.

58:16It's like too much. And it's just like hardness, it's hormones, it's all of those different things. And so like coming back, but I knew I had to do the podcast and I'm so happy we are back and our team's so understanding and so amazing. But like, God, please, just everyone go easy on me when they listen to it because God knows what it's going to be like. And obviously you guys are exploring parenthood

58:35Olivia Attwood:and all the things around that. Newly Weds is now being hosted by Molly and Tommy of Love Island fame. Candy Kittens is flying I think it's we're in a really fun place we basically have our office which is called the Sweet Factory yeah I've been guys it's the most insane place it's on like what three levels there's like parts for the production company parts of the suites it's such a cool space massive fridge full of nice drinks which I always appreciate in the green room and we've just acquired Graze as well which is like a snack brand which is kind of amazing so we're sort of building out our you know our sort of you know whatever it is and Empire let's just say what the fuck it is yeah let's just say what it is well we're just building which is really exciting and it was what I think people people sort of saw me on Made in Chelsea right and expected that and this is such but felt like we had these millions and billions of pounds to like make or build all this and the truth is I wish you did The truth is, I get this.

59:42People think I'm heir to McVitie's fortune, right?

59:44Olivia Attwood:Wait, clear this up. Because I always see a lot of some derogatory in your comments going, oh, but his family was in confectionery, so it doesn't really count. McVitie's is in your... The founder of McVitie's is your great-great-grandfather? Great-great-grandfather, an amazing guy. And he helped build McVitie's. They sold it years ago. And trust me, my family had been through a lot of divorces. They've been spending that cash on lawyers. They've been spending that cash. I'm so proud about it. They spend everything. So I get the stigma for being a billionaire's kid without any cash, which is like a double win, right?

1:00:15But my business partner, Ed and I, and apart from meeting Sophie, the shining light, the golden thing that ever happened to you was meeting my business partner 15 years ago. We met in a pub and I said, I had this idea for a suite business. And he said, I've got these ideas for it. And I said, should we do it together? We'd never met before. And it was one of these moments. And since then, we've been business partners. That's incredible. Ed Williams is the reason for everything, right? In terms of just my brand, everything. He's the yin to the yang. And so we've built for the last 15 years, we've just like ourselves built up.

1:00:50And so we're super proud of what we've built. And we're in a place finally, like 14 years in, maybe 15 years in, where we can finally breathe a little bit and look around and go like, oh, we've built something quite cool here. And so it's in a fun place, which is...

1:01:05Olivia Attwood:And the fun place being the fastest growing confectionery company in the UK or Europe? In Europe, yeah, which is... So it's a pretty good fucking place. You're in a pretty healthy place. It's a pretty good place. But my dream is to actually buy back McVitie's. Oh, shit. Yeah. That would be so... Just put it out there. Yeah, I love that. Say something. Yeah, so that's the dream. That's so cool. So that would be amazing. Like a whole full circle. Whole full circle. Yeah, family thing. So bring it back. And obviously you guys work together on the production company, Jampot. How is it working together, living together, raising Ziggy together, filming together?

1:01:43Olivia Attwood:We love it. No, being honest. Because as couples go, it's a lot of time. It's a lot of time together. It's a lot of time together. So not many people could do it. You have to be a certain kind of relationship. Yeah, and I don't know if we do it that well. We try our best, but we're still learning how to do it. There's definitely really tough. There's no guidebook for that. There's no guidebook. It's so full on. and like there's no off switch so like you come home and like most relationships they go to work and then you have dinner together and you can talk about your day like we're not we're on the whole time yeah it doesn't end yeah but we do separate it like Sophie was very clear she was like this is work and then this is not work and so there was these setbacks and I didn't have but you were like me though could you just go all because I can just talk about work until I close my eyes and it's on it open I don't have a I don't know when to start ever I could yeah I could he breathes it like he lives and breathes it that's it and it's just about I just love building things it's like so exciting but and it's so cheesy right but it's actually like Sophie is Sophie is actually my best mate like we are best friends 100 % no I know I see that in you guys man we and people sometimes think about our relationship they're like but they just dig at each other and they're like we were friends before and that's what we were like and we just carried that into our relationship also you need someone like Sophie oh yeah yeah yeah oh my god like imagine the flamboyancy if he didn't have a Sophie like you would be out of control you would be doing cartwheels there'd be a mohawk like you're a bit disaster and you and Sophie also like is Sophie's the rock of everything like Sophie is actually the rock so and without Sophie none of the stuff could happen she's the one who says this is right and this is wrong oh you should do this oh no I feel like that idea is good so if I have an idea I'll go to Sophie and say what do you think about this and Sophie will say well I think these people would like that but this person wouldn't she has like this amazing brain like strategy brain that she doesn't even realise she has so everything we do in our relationship in our love relationship she's the sort of leader of it and in our business relationship as well Soph is the one who leads it without realising you kind of lead it you have that great view I mean I never had any doubt but in case the listeners did he just put it on record so I'm not the boss if anyone thought I was the boss even though he gets he likes his mic time that stays in this room I feel like I'm going to wake up to when this mic's going to be in my mouth.

1:04:05Olivia Attwood:I'm honestly like... I've got both your ears and this mic in my mouth. Sorry, guys. I gave this back to you. And I love the fact that it's in the exact same collage or jacket. You could look more perfect for this set.

1:04:19Olivia Attwood:Okay, we need to have a proper girl talk for a minute because I have finally found the holy grail of intimates. You know when you buy a gorgeous bra, but by mid-afternoon, the underwear feels like it's out to get you or underwear is digging in so much is all you can think about. It's a nightmare. We've all been there, right? Well, not with skims. I've been wearing skims for ages now, but I recently got my hands on the Fits Everybody collection and honestly, it's unreal. My first impression was just how butter soft the fabric is. It's got this insane stretch that just molds your body and it literally feels like you're wearing nothing at all, which is the dream.

1:04:54Olivia Attwood:My absolute obsession is the Fits Everybody crossover bralette. I usually loathe sports bras because they just squash everything, but this bralette is the complete opposite. I get that perfect lifted shape and all the support I need, but I don't feel suffocated. I'm wearing it under oversized tees, loungewear, honestly, just even around the house. I'm basically replacing my entire drawer with these. Everyone should experience this level of comfort and support. So shop Skims Fits Everybody collection at skims.com. After you place your order Be sure to let them know We sent you Select podcast In the survey And be sure to select Olivia's house In the drop down menu That follows

1:05:36Olivia Attwood:Guys before I let you go I couldn't have You're my first couple On the show Oh we feel so happy We feel honoured So We're going to play Mr and Mrs It only feels right Look how happy you are Look serving c*** Let's go Come on I'm so happy Look at that Where am I looking? 1:06:39it was far there was a car that was parked it was probably like 15 metres away like an old Lamborghini vintage car right roof off everyone's like ooh that's a nice car in the car boiling hot Sunday boiling hot day there is a baby in this car seat everyone's like nice car oh baby in it walking past my baby's on its own in a black in a black like carrier thing so it's hot this baby's hot right and I'm like what the fuck so I'm their new mum with my baby right and everyone's like no it's quite there are mums sort of being a bit like this way we're this way but everyone's walking on because we're English and what the fuck we're doing I stand at the car I'm fucking fuming I'm going around but is there a person in the car with the baby who's on its own the baby's on its own for 10 minutes 10 minutes go by and I'm going to everyone walking by where's the parents has anyone seen the parents it's insane again Sophie can't hide her emotions so I'm like oh my god I'm calling Jamie does this walk past that's a nice year Jamie was like don't worry it's obviously fine it's obviously legal if they're doing that I'm like I don't care if it's fucking legal this is outrageous it's this man this like silver fox walks over the car he's like oh he's Sparco isn't he and I was like is this your baby the baby's like a year old or less than that and he walks back over and then someone calls the police he's having a coffee outside this cafe like miles it had been an hour the baby had been sat in this car for an hour about 50 metres away so you couldn't even see his baby couldn't see wouldn't have heard if the baby had cried it would have been an hour everyone was talking about it so then the police come it's a whole palaver turns out it's not illegal because it's an open top car fucking ridiculous

1:08:05Olivia Attwood:but he's sat in direct sunlight with a black carrier anyway they run after me and they're like you fucking idiot the police came it's not even illegal you idiot get their phone in my face I was like what the fuck Jamie runs after them come on Jamie come on he goes hold Ziggy and I was like I lost it come on J-Dog I went up to this guy and I was like if you ever fucking talk to my wife again like that talk to my wife if you fucking talk to my wife again I'll nut ya I might never see you around these parts again yeah yeah I'll fucking run this Westbourne Grove lab at a couple what yeah anyway I was like I couldn't believe this guy had gone up to a woman with a baby with a baby let alone my wife and shouted in her face because she was trying to protect a baby a baby I couldn't believe he had done this what a fucking dick I totally lost it so protectiveness back there we go I don't think you're a confrontational guy do you think that's ramped up since Ziggy's game I was a bit like who is this I was like yeah no but I'm confrontation if I need to be let's go for baby number two yeah I know if I need to be I'm Scorpio so if I need to be you've got this thing yeah I've got it I've got it who takes longer to get ready fair who's more likely to pretend they didn't hear the baby cry Jamie every single night every single night who honey honey you know who rocks the baby at night most times not ever you and if you do it's because my back is literally in the bin and I'm like my back is about to clasp mum just be no stop calling he's called you mama I know I know it's like muminess yeah she doesn't want any penny she's going to be too pretty Penny Mummy alright who takes longer to get ready okay match on Sophie valid though you always look great who gets irritated more quickly both but Sophie yeah yeah that's an easy one he doesn't really get annoyed do you know what Sophie said I was actually going to say this on our show but Sophie Sophie said to me I was like your anger is like you go from 0 to 100 so quick I don't understand and she went I'm Latino and I went Latina you idiot Latina and I was like you're not you're like half Arabic like what is this same thing what it's like such a weird I'm Latina yeah I'm Latina yeah and you're you're like me I'm Scottish you're half German I'm Scottish you're Scottish I'm Scottish are you actually Scottish half Scottish yeah there you go who's more dramatic oh please they put each other Sophie Sophie, you do.

1:10:50Who has some self-awareness? Yeah, come on. I am so self-aware. Get your dancing boots off and just know that it's you. Honey, when am I ever dramatic? Dramatic right now. You're kidding me. Okay, we know it's him. Everyone in the room agrees. Oh my God. Elle, Elle, who's more dramatic, be honest? Yeah, exactly. That's you and there's no ways.

1:11:13Olivia Attwood:Who cares about being liked by the viewers more? No, I can't go. She hasn't even put your pads on. Oh, Jamie. Jamie, I don't care. Me, you think I do. No, I don't want you talking about my farting on camera. That is not because I care about my life. It smells like a Happy Meal. No, delete that. It smells like a Happy Meal. No, I'm so sorry. That's so upsetting. And even this poor man is really judging me now. Yeah. We just got through a drive-thru. Like, what is that? No, I don't want to talk about like that. It doesn't smell like a... I don't want to fucking talk about my shit. Like, that's it.

1:11:47I don't care if you like me or not, but I don't want you to think of being a disgusting but don't think that I do a poo. Can we make a deal then? I don't, I don't, I'm very, I don't mind. You actually don't, neither of us really care to be honest. No, but I love our listeners and I love, but people who give negative comments I'm just like, well, I mean, I like the way you just like kind of, yeah, it's like whatever, here we go,

1:12:06Olivia Attwood:it's always going to come. Who do you think will be the strict parent or stricter parent? Oh, you think me? Yeah, they put each other again. So you put Sophie and you put him. I think Sophie will be. I think you'll... I tried to climb in the cot with him the other night. And you told me to get out. Okay, I'm not joking. Because it would create bad habits. We have it. Guys, we have this like nanet thing which records the cot, right? And Sophie was like, I can hear her crying. So anyway, I was like, okay, fine. Anyway, I was like, she hasn't come back downstairs. I look on the nanet. She's climbed in the cot.

1:12:33Yeah, I was like, you love me. She's climbed in the cot with our baby. He came downstairs. He was like, get out now. You're going to create bad habits. You can't climb in the cot.

1:12:40Olivia Attwood:Maybe it is you, Jamie, because you're like already flirting with boarding school. Exactly. Who spends more money? As you should, Queen. They've both said so. Are you being a spender? No, because I can't be, otherwise we have zero money.

1:13:01I can't be or be homeless. It was in the show. We renovated our house and Sophie picked this marble. Oh my God. I'm going to have to say it. It's so... She picked this marble. We’re joined by reality TV royalty and ultimate chaotic couple, Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo, and this one goes exactly how you’d expect… unfiltered.

From the moment they walk in, nothing is off limits. Jamie kicks things off with a shocking childhood confession. We dive into everything from their new show, Raising Chelsea, sharing all the details of the reality of starting a family, to parental instinct and Sophie’s pregnancy journey, including the very real story behind her emergency C-section.

Jamie also shares some questionable parenting advice from his mum, they address the rumours around their 'lavender marriage', and somehow we end up talking about laser treatments...

It’s funny, chaotic, a bit emotional and very, very real.
