In short
A “dead” sports-calendar episode that mixes sports talk with comedy bits: Northwestern’s Chip Kelly in a ridiculous stadium setup; LeBron’s ongoing free-agency/decision delay; Aaron Rodgers reconnecting with family; ESPN firing Ryan Clark mid-show; Bryce Harper’s funny All-Star red-carpet answer; Cubs charity/50-50 raffle stories; and a “Mount Rushmore” of non-edible things that look delicious. They also do Hot Seat/Cool Throne segments (ESPN, Roger Goodell, Nick Sirianni/ChatGPT, etc.) and football/MLB/NFL offseason banter.
Guests
Jimmy Tatro (actor/comedian; new Netflix show “Hawk” with Will Ferrell; in-studio guest). Ryan Fox (Open Championship winner; “champion golfer of the year,” fresh off winning the Open).
Key claims
- LeBron “has to decide soon,” with speculation about what’s delaying him (trade packages, jersey/merch timing with Fanatics, or personal timing).
- ESPN’s handling of Ryan Clark’s firing was awkward—he was reportedly told he was being fired with little notice and still had to work the show.
- Bryce Harper’s “1775” answer to “Declaration of Independence signed when?” was a joke/mistake, corrected by Verlander to “1776.”
- Roger Goodell is portrayed as effective at maximizing NFL revenue while serving as the public “punching bag.”
Notable examples
- Northwestern dressing Chip Kelly in different themes weekly.
- “Declaration of Independence” Harper/Verlander clip.
- Cubs Wrigley charity event for Lost Boys Inc. and a 50-50 raffle waving/Jumbotron moment.
- Mount Rushmore prompt: non-edible things that look delicious.

2:13Big Cat:Hard and mighty. Yeah. Hard and mighty. Yeah. Part of my take, yeah. Part of my take, yeah. Part of my take, yeah. Part of my take, yeah.
2:30PFT Commenter:Welcome to Part of My Take, presented by DraftKings. The crown is yours. Today is Wednesday, July 22nd, and what do we got, boys? Chip Kelly looks hilarious at the new Northwestern Stadium. my guy sam pinionovich took a picture of chip with his helmet on vest like 17 microphones in front of him hard hat hard hat yeah hard hat sorry not helmet he looks like the most corrupt
2:57Big Cat:union guy of all time oh yeah it looks like he's just he's got a briefcase or a sack with a giant dollar sign behind his back in that picture everyone says the boss is here he doesn't know how to wear the hard hat correctly everyone kind of laughs at him behind his back northwestern has a weapon on their hands because they can just dress chip kelly up in a different theme every single week depending on who they're playing and uh it's going to be gold he looks hilarious but
3:20PFT Commenter:that's really the the biggest story that's where we're at in the in the sports calendar that's why we have takeies on friday because i think after takeies i think training camps start uh this weekend and then we have mlb trade deadline then we'll be cooking lebron is lebron is lebron should
3:35Big Cat:be announcing right this second continuing to hold the league hostage i've gone the other way now Now it's been such a long delay for LeBron. I hope it's secret until opening night. And then it's like, which team is LeBron going to play for? Which tunnel is he going to come out of? Where is LeBron? And then we flash around the league, and then boom, he's a Cavalier.
3:54PFT Commenter:Yeah.
3:57PFT Commenter:He's got to decide soon. Please. Do it for us. I'd actually give you bonus points if you decide this week, LeBron.
4:04Big Cat:I mean, he should. There's really nothing holding him up anymore. No. It's just Rich Paul said he just has to make the decision.
4:11PFT Commenter:So, yeah, see, that's where I'm like, you're being a real jerk, LeBron, because he's just... He's got a no already. He's like almost doing the, like, when you're trying to order dinner, it's like, what do you want? What do you want? I don't know. I'll eat whatever. Oh, LeBron, I'll go to... What do you want me to do? I'll go. I'll do whatever. Miami, all right. I wasn't really thinking Miami. Philly, no, I don't really... Just fucking say it then.
4:34Big Cat:Can he do multiple? Just tell us. Can he do multiple? Can he start the season in Miami and be like, yeah, that was kind of cool, but Cleveland's pretty good, so I'm going to quit and then come back. Maybe.
4:43PFT Commenter:We also have a long – we're getting a CVS receipt of people predicting that LeBron is going to decide on a certain day and then him not doing it. Yeah. Like there's just every single day it's like, today's the day. I'm going to put my reputation on it.
4:58Big Cat:Boom. Didn't happen. I almost feel like he's waiting on something. I know that he said that he doesn't have a decision made, or I guess Rich Paul said there's no decision that's been made yet. But there's got to be something that he's waiting on. It's either a trade package to get AD. That's a possibility. It could be, I heard somebody speculate that he needs to tell Fanatics first so that he can announce his jersey on sale the second he makes his decision. That way he sells out immediately. But it feels like he has to know. Nothing's going to change. the same information about which team you wanted to go to that that existed last week is still in that same spot today maybe he's just waiting to see what school his daughter gets into that could
5:41PFT Commenter:be it zach assignment for you starting today i would like you to tweet every single morning today is the day that i'm hearing reports today is the day that lebron is making his decision okay and then when he does make it we will delete all the other ones and then we'll signal boost the one that you got right. I can do that. So do it right now. Start this morning or right now? No, right now. I got you. Right now. Right this second. He's going to do it. At least we get a little dog in the fight. Today's the day. It's got to be today. Say I'm hearing reports and this would be very funny if you ended up being right and we had to re-tape the beginning of the show.
6:18Big Cat:Which team do you think would be the best team? I'm saying the biggest threat to win the championship. Philly. Warriors? Yeah. No, not Warriors. I don't know. Warriors, they're old. They're still old. Olden State, bro. You thinking emojis or no emojis?
6:34PFT Commenter:Maybe phone emoji. Okay. That's business-wise. I get that. Fax emoji. Basketball emoji. Siren emoji to start. Yes. Siren emoji.
6:46Big Cat:And then all caps, breaking or developing. I like developing.
6:49PFT Commenter:Yeah. Yes.
6:50Big Cat:And then maybe wine emoji.
6:52PFT Commenter:You think the Warriors would be a better chance in the West? Yeah. The East is stacked. I think you're just saying this because you don't want him to go to Philly. Maybe. Yeah. I think Hank's right.
7:04Big Cat:He's not going to Philly.
7:05PFT Commenter:Philly is the best chance to win a title this year. He's not going to Philly.
7:10Big Cat:Timberwolves?
7:11PFT Commenter:Yeah, where's the Timberwolves smoke coming from? Just that he played with Anthony Davis on the U.S. team? There's smoke coming from everyone. Played over with a lot of guys. At the Edwards. At the Edwards, sorry.
7:19Big Cat:There's a lot of smoke from a lot of places. Miami would be interesting. Him and Giannis. Bam. Big three.
7:26PFT Commenter:He just got to decide. He's being a jerk about it. What? Zach, did you tweet it?
7:32Big Cat:It's going up. He forgot the developing.
7:34PFT Commenter:You forgot the developing. Max is checking it. Good. We got a best guy on it. Okay. We also had, I guess, the other big news is Aaron Rodgers is back with his family, which yeah, like no bullshit. I actually smiled when I saw this because life's too short and it is pretty cool that But it seems like whatever issues he had with his brother, mother, father, whatever it may be, it seems like they're back on good terms.
8:03Big Cat:That is good to see. And I read the article about it, and it sounds like they started to mend fences in Tahoe a couple years ago. Okay. And his dad was there, and they said hi to each other, and they got along. And then I guess he was going back for his high school hall of fame induction, which that's kind of ridiculous that Aaron Rodgers wasn't in his high school hall of fame yet. So what more did he have to do? I don't know. But his coach was like, yeah, you should make things right. And so, yeah, the pictures, it's very cool. I'm happy for him. I am too. His in-laws were in the picture too.
8:31PFT Commenter:Yeah. What?
8:33Big Cat:John Cena too.
8:34PFT Commenter:Oh. Yeah. You're making a joke there. I am. Yeah.
8:38Big Cat:I was trying to be sentimental about a moment. I did. I did. I love the fact that he's back on good terms with his parents. I think that's awesome. Yeah.
8:47PFT Commenter:Life's too short to hold these grudges. You never know when you're going to last talk to someone. But, yeah, it does speak to where we're at in the sports calendar that that did feel like it consumed all of social media yesterday.
8:59Big Cat:That's it. Good timing on Aaron Rodgers.
9:00PFT Commenter:Yeah. Yeah. And then ESPN is firing people again, which happens a lot, which sucks.
9:05Big Cat:Yeah.
Read the full transcript
9:06PFT Commenter:Including Ryan Clark, who got fired mid-show.
9:09Big Cat:Ryan Clark did lead the league in weird apologies last year. He did. He had a tough year.
9:13PFT Commenter:I think the Schrager dust-up was an all-time weird moment that everyone was like, dude, what is going on?
9:19Big Cat:Yeah. He had a lot of weird moments last year. And then to get fired mid-show, I guess, is not the best way to go out. Well. But, I mean, it's better. What would you do? If you were let go in the middle of a show, would you come back and finish the shift? No. Fuck no.
9:35PFT Commenter:Yes. Hockey player would. So the story goes, I think Outkick had it. They emailed ESPN PR being like, hey, we're going to give you an hour to respond. We think you're going to fire Ryan Clark. ESPN PR then was like Ryan Clark we're gonna fire you we just want to tell you now because we don't want you to learn online you don't have to finish this show and then they apparently went and told the athletic and the athletic ran with it here's my big thing ESPN you knew you were gonna fire Ryan Clark for a while I would assume right I would think so why would you make him work that show right like mere hours before you fire him yeah that's the problem Well, ESPN was like, oh, yeah, we're firing him on Tuesday morning at 7 a.m.
10:18PFT Commenter:We're going to make him work 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday.
10:22Big Cat:Give him one fucking show off. Is there ever a good time?
10:25PFT Commenter:Like, when would you let him know? No, no. The whole firing thing is very tough. I'm not disagreeing with that. It's always whenever this comes up and people are like, how could you fire over email? That's crazy. It's like it's very difficult to fire a lot of people at the same time. I get all of that. I'm saying, you know, you're firing him on Tuesday. don't have him work on monday it's easy to just say you're not on espn you're on nfl live today not on the schedule right you know i mean like just in the off chance this would happen you don't
10:55Big Cat:want him on air yeah it is it's very awkward that it happened in the middle of a show say something nice about ryan clark he always looked like he was very comfortable he had very comfortable looking hoodies his sweatshirts on his podcast looked like i could if i put one on i would just fall
11:09PFT Commenter:asleep the cuts on his podcast make it seem really serious all the time yeah and i appreciate that like when they're just like and they just cut to that and they just cut to that and it's like really close there's like always a camera that feels like it's right right here right behind his shoulder when he's about to say something super serious yeah like the thing you guys don't understand about athletes is they have to pay taxes too that's been my new big the one thing
11:35Big Cat:I learned this offseason is that athletes pay taxes. We got to do a show where we just strictly interview athletes about how much tax comes out of their paycheck.
11:44PFT Commenter:It's finally reached a critical mass where people are like, hey, we get it, guys. We're not going to cry for you when you get on a podcast and you say, actually,$100 million is not that much money.
11:55Big Cat:Well, most people don't pay taxes. But athletes, that's the job that you have to pay taxes. And agents fees. That's what Pat McAfee should do. What? He should go on a podcast and be like, actually, 60 million years not that much yeah it's not that much yeah i would love if you're an athlete and you you were shocked the first time you saw your paycheck come on part of my take and talk to us about that experience yeah because it sounds like it's that's crazy because like what could ever prepare anybody for having taxes taken out it would actually be great if we got an athlete
12:21PFT Commenter:interview that was like you know like how have you managed your money and they're just like i'll tell you a secret i don't pay taxes yeah it really really helps keep a lot of your money in your bank account. Yeah, Wesley Snipes. He was that way. Yeah, he was. It worked out for him. Oh, are you getting a little buzz on this? Oh, no. Getting no buzz. No traction on developing. He's got 44 likes, two retweets, and five replies.
12:45Big Cat:Somebody called you the R word in the replies. Oh, that was, come on. Yeah.
12:49PFT Commenter:That's really mean.
12:50Big Cat:That's very mean. Should not do that.
12:53PFT Commenter:I'm sure I'm taking away some hot seat, cool throne topics. Let me do DraftKings real quick. 14:14Big Cat:say there's one there's one more funny thing that it's this is truly the dead part of the sports calendar to the point where i'm talking about a major league baseball red carpet walk did you see bryce harper and his answer max what i think he's hilarious i think the answer to what he had he might be joking about this life's eternal question i think it was ben verlander that was doing like interviews on the red carpet the all-star game and they were asking he survived
14:37PFT Commenter:Shohei Otani getting into a couple years ago? He did.
14:40Big Cat:It's a funny video, Max. He said, when was the Declaration of Independence signed? And then Bryce Harper goes, 1775. And Ben Verlander goes, no, sorry, 1776. And Bryce goes, ah, shit, I missed it by a day. That is funny. I think he's a funny guy. That's the biggest nothing story of all time. I think it's a funny video. Let's dive into the other part of this. PFT, are you obsessed with Bryce Harper? I'm not obsessed with Bryce Harper, no.
15:10PFT Commenter:The accusation has been lobbed your way.
15:12Big Cat:Yeah, no, I don't think about it at all. Would you like you to defend yourself? Don't think about it. The best day of my sports fandom as a Nats fan was when Bryce left.
15:19PFT Commenter:That's fair? Yeah. So, Max, why would you say he's obsessed with Bryce Harper?
15:25Big Cat:Bryce Harper plays for the Philadelphia Phillies. I'm a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies.
15:29PFT Commenter:I love when you say Philadelphia Phillies because it sounds like you actually have meatballs in your mouth.
15:33Big Cat:Philadelphia Phillies. Philadelphia Phillies.
15:35PFT Commenter:I'm a fan of Fluffy Phyllis.
15:36Big Cat:PFT talks about Bryce Harper significantly more than I talk about Bryce Harper. And he's my guy.
15:41PFT Commenter:Sounds like PFT is more of a fan of Fluffy Phyllis.
15:45Big Cat:I'm just saying. Here's what I saw. I saw Fluffy Philly being interviewed about the city of Fluffy. And his answer was very funny. And so I wanted to shine some light on that. I think he's a funny guy. In fact, Max, there's something weird about your defense of Bryce Harper. Because even when I compliment him, I took his side in the toothpaste thing.
16:04PFT Commenter:Yeah, but Max has to defend any Fluffy Filly. This is a video with 130 likes. That's tough, VFT. Yeah. Now this is a good counterpoint. We need the scoreboard going right now. And Max will defend a Fluffy Filly anytime.
16:17Big Cat:But it's not like this is some massively viral video that we're talking about.
16:22PFT Commenter:It's got 84 ,000 views after, what, seven hours? Six hours?
16:28Big Cat:James Wood got it right. Is he on Fluffy Filly? He's not a Fluffy Filly. Maybe sometime. People are saying that the Nats aren't going to extend him, which I wouldn't be shocked on. But Trey Turner. How about Trey Turner?
16:39PFT Commenter:Yeah, that's a sicko video that you found, PFT.
16:44Big Cat:It's pretty funny. It came across my desk. What can I say? Yeah.
16:47PFT Commenter:And you're going to defend your flaws. You guys are making it worse.
16:53Big Cat:Listen, LeBron's about to go to the city of Fluffy. Yeah.
16:56PFT Commenter:He's going to follow Phil 76-er. Philadelphia 76-er.
16:59Big Cat:Yeah, Fluffy 75-er. And probably go to some follow Phil Follies games.
17:05PFT Commenter:Hank. Yeah. We've known each other a long time.
17:09Big Cat:We have.
17:09PFT Commenter:You can shoot me straight.
17:10Big Cat:I can.
17:11PFT Commenter:You're one of the only people who can really shoot me straight. Tell me the truth. Did I wave too much at the 50-50 night?
17:17Big Cat:I thought you were doing a bit. Well, I didn't know I was on camera that long. Yeah, you got the 50-50 check. We were there. There was a rain delay. The game got pushed back like 40 minutes. So you were on the field before the game, before it got delayed, and then it got pushed back. And then when you came back on the field, it seemed like they were a little behind on the schedule. So I was watching you standing in front of the camera. You waved for like 10 minutes straight before the camera came on. And then the camera came on.
17:52PFT Commenter:I didn't know if you were doing that on purpose. No, it was bad, man. I didn't know I was on camera that long. So, yeah, the Cubs had me out because I got the big check finally from the 50-50 that I won last year. By the way, the rain delay that there was no rain for, I feel like that might have been an inside job because Renee, and I love her, she's the one who sold me the winning ticket. She always comes to my seats and sells me tickets. I love Renee. She's absolutely salt to the earth, best. But Renee and I were sitting in the seats waiting to go on the field, and they're like, oh, we're delayed for 30 minutes.
18:26PFT Commenter:I just kept on turning to Renee after every three minutes. I'd be like, all right, give me another. Hit me again. Hit me again. And she just had her machine just running. But yeah, the waving was too much. I am stupid. And the woman behind the camera was like, hey, I'm going to wave at you guys when you go on the Jumbotron so you know you're on. And I just thought that meant I should wave back to her. And I did for 30 seconds.
18:51Big Cat:It was nice. You gave everybody in the crowd a chance to look at the screen and then you were waving at everybody in attendance. I don't have a problem with it. I had no idea I was on the Jumbotron. You have the dead face.
19:01PFT Commenter:It's kind of a scary smile. Yeah, not even smiling, just waving.
19:05Big Cat:And then you slowly started to smile, which I don't know if that makes it better or worse. Yeah, it's almost creepy. It's creepy. You know what it was? The wave isn't the problem. I think it's the wave and the look directly into the camera. Yeah. I think if you've been looking around at every seat in the stadium - I should have. Doing a wave, that's fine. It's one of the funniest videos I've ever seen.
19:25PFT Commenter:The problem was, too, I consciously was like, don't look back at the Jumbotron. Because you know whenever you're on a Jumbotron, your brain can't compute. And then you just stare at the Jumbotron, not at the camera.
19:37Big Cat:And you just point at yourself.
19:38PFT Commenter:Right. So I was locked in, waving at this woman behind the camera. But shout out to Cubs Charities for having us out. We talked about it last year, but Lost Boys, great organization, does youth baseball in the South Shore, Chicago. Levante is the man. and I donated all the money and then some to it. And I'm also telling Tom Ricketts, let's match. So match it.
20:01Big Cat:I need to donate to them. I said on last show, I got caught up in the charity aspect. So it's Lost Boys.
20:08PFT Commenter:Lost Boys Inc. I think is the actual website. Okay. It was very fun though. Zach, you were walking around with me. They also did not. You tell it. Let me get the actual. Zach how do you think I did selling tickets It's lostboysinc.org Is the website I think it went well I think you were ripping around Guys were excited People were buying tickets Do you think I have charity shamed a little too much You weren't taking no for an answer
20:34Big Cat:That's sure I heard you were charity shamed a troupe
20:38PFT Commenter:I bought a charity shamed a troupe But I did thank him for his service first I said thank you for your service Do you like charity And he said I'm not buying any tonight I'm like well turns out you don't like charity I think I may have heard Do you hate the kids at one point Yeah. No, I listen. I could sell a raffle ticket.
20:53Big Cat:And it was instant to the pocket.
20:55PFT Commenter:Yeah. There was that one guy. I was like, hey, I just walked up to a guy. I was like, people around Wrigley are saying you don't like charity. And he's like, what are you talking about? I was like, are you going to buy a ticket? He's like, no. And I was like, okay, so the people are right.
21:08Big Cat:You don't. Steven Che texted me in a way that I thought I might have won the 50-50 raffle because he's like, did you win? And the text made it seem like he was like one number off. And we were sitting next to each other. We bought tickets right next to each other. not even close yeah no like it wasn't even it wasn't even remotely close but when i saw it i was like oh my god like yeah does this mean i'm one number off maybe like if i won't like woke up and saw i won the 50 50 raffle not literally the second number was off wasn't even close yeah he
21:36PFT Commenter:did the same with me he's like hey did you win because like i know how to check that like yeah it was it was a tough cubs loss but it was it was a fun night and uh you know got to see did you Memes, did you doctor that photo of me and Kittle? Yeah, I made him smaller. Okay, yeah, I was going to say. At first, I was like, what the hell happened? Am I that big? He made him PFT size. Yeah. And he has glasses and long hair. Kittle's a fucking man. He looks good.
22:02Big Cat:He looks good.
22:03PFT Commenter:He's bouncing around. Every guy should be 5 '8". Having the best time. I love that dude.
22:08Big Cat:I thought about going to slap him, but then I got kind of scared.
22:10PFT Commenter:Yeah. That would be a bad idea. I forgot to tell you.
22:13Big Cat:But there was a line of people taking pictures with him, and I was like, what if I just got in this line, kind of pretended like I was a fan, and then just slapped his head. I forgot to tell you this, Hank. But then I was like, I don't - Kittle's got a problem. The last person that I think I want an ongoing physical beat is Kittle. Oh, yeah. Kittle's got a problem. I think he's addicted to telling people to hit other people. This was like two years ago. My buddy, Patty, from Scotland, was overseas visiting here. He's a massive Niners fan. I hit up Kittle. I was like, hey, can you give a shout out to my buddy, Patty?
22:45Big Cat:He's been a fan for years. He loves you. Blah, blah, blah. Kittle sends him a video. And Patty watches the video, puts the speaker up to his head. And about two seconds after he's done, he comes over to me and hits me in my nuts. Yeah. Like full on nut shot. I love that. I was like, what the fuck was that? He's like, I'm sorry. Kittle told me to do it. And I listened back. He's like, Patty, you're the man. Hit PFT in his nuts as soon as you're done listening to this video. He's got a problem instigating violence. yeah human body craves contact and no one's gonna do anything about it never no no uh but
23:18PFT Commenter:shane i think is shane putting that in the pm tv the the 50 50 the video he did yesterday max i'm talking to you yeah head producer i don't know where that's going yeah okay yeah yeah yeah that's it that'll fit that's it okay pm tv yes check out what it's good I don't know. I didn't know. You know. Unless Dom has different ideas, different plans for Stella Blue. Shane was a beast. He was wearing a sweatshirt in 85-degree muggy weather, and I've never seen anything like it. He was just like, what are you doing, Shane? He looked like a UFC fighter trying to cut weight, just chasing me around regularly.
24:00PFT Commenter:But, yeah, thank you, everyone. It was a very fun night. All right, last thing. Let's just do Hotsi Kulturo because I think we'll cover it all. 25:10Big Cat:My hot seat was ESPN. We already talked about that. I guess, I mean, this one's kind of a non-story, but it was making the rounds today. You mean Lamar's girlfriend's ex-boyfriend? Wait. Girlfriend's ex-boyfriend? There was like internet people that were doing some research and saw that she, the girl that was with him after he won the World Cup may have been in a relationship like four months ago. So could be alleged could could not even be true. But that I just I just fell for the guy. Maybe maybe maybe the worst case scenario. Wait, fell for who? The ex-boyfriend. Yeah, who was dating a girl for five years.
25:48PFT Commenter:And then and she popped up at the World Cup.
25:51Big Cat:Yeah. Yeah, that sucks. What can you do, though? Like, you all wins the World Cup. And it's like, I'm powerless to stop this. But yeah, that that that was just tough to see. Felt fell for the guy.
26:02PFT Commenter:Yeah, I think you just have to go around telling people, yeah, I got beaten by Lamine Ymal. But that also means I'm in the league with Lamine Ymal. True. I'm dating in that league.
26:14Big Cat:You're close enough to be within upgrade status, upgrade reach of, you mean, Lamal. He's one step better. That ain't bad. Also, that's probably pretty attractive for girls to know that you date this guy, all of a sudden you two could be fucking - I could make you a star. Yeah, yeah. Cacarela. He's out there single. Yep. True. And then my cool throne, being on the phone with the president. Yeah. This is so fucking funny. I thought this was like central, like a golf central, like when it came out, because it was just, you know, obviously that story played out for two straight days at the open with the penalty, the ruling, him going back, talking to officials.
26:56This came out like must have been late Sunday night after we recorded or Monday morning that during that whole like four hour process, Bryson said he was trying to get on the phone with the president to help overrule.
27:10Big Cat:Yeah. Penalty. I wish I know.
27:13PFT Commenter:I know that like, listen, we don't talk politics on this show. the fact that like he actually thought that would work is so funny to be like he's like Trump is just now going to be a get out of jail free for everyone in sports because of Balogun it didn't even work for Tiger yeah I know but like Balogun I think they're thinking like Tiger's obviously I'm on the phone to President's very funny but the Balogun thing set the precedent of he might be able to get involved and save me
27:46Big Cat:yeah but the fifa is the most corrupt rigged organization so that was part of it too that's the one way it could work and i think the block might be too hot right now i think that bright god bless him i wish that bryson had actually done this i wish he had gotten on what would what would have been the best said nothing he gets it's the rna so he he has no pull we're bringing our boys home yeah he's got no pull over there i mean he could threaten to like tax great britain yeah if you don't let bryson like that that might be something that happens but But if it was like the PGA Championship, I'd say a higher possibility that it might work.
28:21Big Cat:If it was a tournament in the United States where - Maybe at one of his courses. At his course. Yeah. And shutting the whole thing down. But if you can't pull this at the Open, you probably can't pull it at the Masters because they don't give a fuck at the Masters. But God damn it, I wish that Bryson had actually done this. Because the flow chart in his mind, here's where he was at mentally. I'll quit. The options were, I'm going to call the president. If I don't call the president, then I'll just quit. Yeah, and that's the flow chart that I'm going through. And when I get my bluff called on both those, then I'll just say, fuck it.
28:51Big Cat:And I'll play anyways. This is like the final boss of my dad's a lawyer. Yeah, my dad. Yeah, I'm going to call the president. And he has done videos with him. So I think he probably has Trump's phone. Oh, definitely. He definitely could have called him. Like, hey, hang on. This is Donald Trump. You still want to do?
29:06PFT Commenter:Yeah. And he's really mad at you. Just so you guys know, he disagrees as well. And he's the president of the United States of America.
29:13Big Cat:I wish he had done it and it really does go to show you Bryson squandered what could have been an all time moment if he had just like taken the two stroke penalty and then going out there played really good and not done all this stuff.
29:27PFT Commenter:He's incapable. He's incapable of having like normal human interactions Yeah. I wish he had called that would have actually Do you think he threatened it? He did No, I know he said he was trying to but do you think he said I'm going to call the president yes oh yeah
29:44Big Cat:what a loser if you're mad enough to be like I won't play
29:50PFT Commenter:oh you want me to call I got him right here he basically is doing like when I tell my kids I'm going to call the police if you don't go to bed I'm going to call the president I'm going to do it right now I'm dialing it right now I think he definitely threatened it to him
30:02Big Cat:the funniest outcome would be if Trump didn't pick up the call if he saw Bryce in his call I don't have time for this guy's shit
30:08PFT Commenter:if he deliberately screened it You know when you call and you can tell someone hits the silence on you? Yeah. Rings once. Mid-ring, yeah. That would be good.
30:18Big Cat:Because I feel like Trump could have... There were a couple levers he could have pulled. He could have said, like, yeah, I'll tariff. I'll slap a tariff on your ass.
30:25PFT Commenter:I think he would have tried to say, like, I'll bring all of the American players home.
30:28Big Cat:Or he could have said, like... I think they used to do the open at one of his courses over there. But they already stopped. Yeah. Like, that already... They took him out of the rotation, like, 2016.
30:39PFT Commenter:What if he was like, hey, if you guys do this, I'm going to drop a billion golf balls on Royal Burkdale tomorrow. Then what are you going to do?
30:48Big Cat:Send a B2 overhead.
30:49PFT Commenter:What are you going to do when we drop all these golf balls?
30:52Big Cat:He could have threatened to take away Terrell Hatton's passport and his visa. Like no British players will be allowed back in the United States. Oh, man. Okay. Good hot seat. Cool throw. You got another one? It's the Red Sox. 14 in a row. Yeah. Red hot. Crazy. Red hot. Crazy. All-star break didn't slow him down. back in, you know, they're over 500 trending. Yeah.
31:15PFT Commenter:Big time. 14 rows. Nuts.
31:18Big Cat:One away from the record. Their record.
31:21PFT Commenter:Yeah, I mean, it's hard to win, like, it's hard to win six in a row in baseball. Usually the All-Star break is,
31:27Big Cat:that's usually like, you know, that'll stop a streak, but. Currently the last, holding the last wild card spot in the AL. Congrats on the wild card. Thank you. Thank you.
31:36PFT Commenter:Are you guys buying? Max congrats on the wild card
31:39Big Cat:Big Cat congrats on the wild card
31:41PFT Commenter:Thank you
31:43Big Cat:That's just us three Just you three
31:45PFT Commenter:Congrats on first place There are like four teams Wait what He's a Rays fan But he actually isn't because he hasn't decided If he wants to get into baseball or not Also true on the fence It's not Rays or someone else It's just baseball or nothing In or out Like, he has not declared that he's going to enjoy baseball yet. It's creeping up. Yesterday was a great time. Yeah, he had a great time. I'll say it was a great time. Did you guys stay for? When did you leave? Left when the game was over. Oh, you stayed the whole way. Memes? Did you stay with Zach? I was out after the sixth inning. Yeah, I stayed the whole game, and I was so mad at myself at the end because I was like, that was stupid.
32:34PFT Commenter:Like, how do you not get a ball? Base loaded two out or one out. You get a ball in the air. Just get a fucking ball in the air. It was a good wind night, too. Yeah, it was. Just get a fucking ball. It was solid. All right. Pifty, your hot seat.
32:48Big Cat:My hot seat is the NFL because Nick Sirianni has discovered chat GPT. Yeah. So Sirianni, they did an article about him in the athletic. You're obsessed with Sirianni. Yeah, I know. He's obsessed with Fluffy. Yeah, I'm a little bit of Fluffy. uh sirianni's discovered chat gpt he said that he used it to look up like motivational storylines and then the article became like nick sirianni has become a one-man ai expert this offseason so you better watch out rest of the nfl um i do think that it used to be in the nfl that a head coach would have a guy that was like he just looked at like a computer like this is my chat gpt guy or this guy will look stuff up for me online sirianni might be doing he might be getting two hands-on with the technology like when when uh harbaugh hired mcdaniel he's probably like yeah this guy's this guy's my chat gpt guy if i need something looked up i'm just gonna ask him yeah he's gonna take care of that for me this is the most basic form of technology what chat gpt we're calling him like a master of technology because he learned about chat gpt like five years after i'm being sarcastic max yeah i'm defensive that's fair yeah no he this is uh
34:04PFT Commenter:looking up chat gbt to be like yeah can you guys motivate the team is that's a problem that's what
34:11Big Cat:he's doing my problem is he's too far down in the weeds no he's getting stories yeah yeah a head coach should be like hey can somebody do that thing on the computer with the ai thing that you guys use yeah and tell me what i can do about this hit your ai button yeah press the ai button get the nerd in here yeah i got a question for him do your ai button let me know let me know what the cowboys are up to you might have also like he might he likes to pander a little bit sirianni a little bit he might have just looked up wait no he's really he might just looked up like what are the most popular things in philly and the answer was ai and he was like okay got it i'll
34:45PFT Commenter:start to use yeah that is exactly what happened that might be it too it was like cheesesteaks rocky ai yep and he got a little confused and then my cool throne is roger goodell well are you looking this story up do some research max get back to us get back to some facts i would like
35:02Big Cat:you to come back with facts on nick serrani's chat gbt use uh my cool throne is roger goodell because uh the nfl is giving him an extension he's going to be around for a while it's going to be like 40 million dollars a year and he's going to be commissioner for a long time so anyone that wanted him to retire. Doesn't look like it's going to happen. Congratulations to Roger Goodell. You've done it. Another finesse job. 40 million years, insane. The NFL is doing pretty good right now.
35:30PFT Commenter:I don't like saying these words because I know that there's a lot of people who hate his guts. He is, and I don't like Roger Goodell, he's objectively very good at his job because his job is to make the most money for the NFL and be a human punching bag so that you're never mad at owners, you're mad at Roger Goodell. And he checks both those boxes every time.
35:52Big Cat:His job is to coordinate a massive orgy of brands and sponsorships, ensure that nobody steps on toes, ensures that everybody leaves happy. Everyone makes
36:03PFT Commenter:a shitload of money and doesn't... You can push the fans to the limit and the players' bodies to the limit. Just make the most amount of money while pushing them to the limit and then go home happy and he does he does that well and his job is also to make
36:20Big Cat:sure that they make a little bit more money than they did the previous year yeah because you can't you can't make any big jumps in revenue because then people are going to complain about but if you have like let's say hypothetically you have one team that plays uh once a year in london you can't have every team play over so you can't have 10 international games next year but you can add a new one year by year and in these gradual increments people won't get that upset about it and his job is also to talk like a lawyer without having a law degree making him less accountable for the things that he actually says yes because he does not have a law degree right so he can
36:54PFT Commenter:always plead ignorance about it and he does a great job of all of them yeah make sure that you can jerry jones is gonna undress you in front of a bunch of other rich uh men you gotta just be able to take it and then guess what you get 40 million dollars at the end of the year yeah i don't know
37:10Big Cat:who else like if there was any competition i don't know how you throw your hat in the ring to like run against roger goodell for the job of commissioner no i don't think i don't think
37:20PFT Commenter:there's anything he's got probably he's got fucking swedish job she watches football
37:25Big Cat:in the chair yeah in the chair awesome chair uh max this is the biggest nothing story in the history of the athletic probably okay this is july 20th story where sack bourbon just had a conversation with yeah nick siriani and he was like and he was like oh guess what i learned i learned that you can look up things on the internet to learn more stories which is just
37:48PFT Commenter:what he did yeah it is the the the bleakest time in the sports and it's just pft is like let me
37:54Big Cat:just i think he's got philadelphia he only just he only looks at philadelphia he probably has ai uh robots set up for philadelphia news what just what just happened in philadelphia what can i Max I didn't write this story I'm sorry I didn't write this story But you're like let me bring this nothing The most nothing story It's the biggest NFL story of the day That can't be true We could talk about Jacoby Brissett's contract Yeah There's literally nothing going on I thought it was funny that they wrote an article About Nick Sirianni using AI Dolphins and All-Pro linebacker Brooks reached$51 million extension.
38:37Big Cat:Jordan Brooks. It'd be nice if we could talk about the city of Fluffy without everyone getting all up in arms. I didn't even say anything. You guys asked for my opinion. I gave you my opinion.
38:49PFT Commenter:Good opinion.
38:51Big Cat:So not the biggest news story of the day. Finn's all-pro linebacker Brooks reached$51.3 million extension. That's huge. Make a graphic for it. Yeah, dude. How about Nick Sirianni looks up stories on the internet? That one would actually do way better. Yeah, it would. That graphic would go hard. Well, that's because it's trolling me. He's going to fall off your fetish. Max, now you're finally kind of starting to understand the beginning of the nature of the show.
39:20PFT Commenter:He's going to fall off your fetish, all right? I'll talk to him about it after. My hot seat is Hank. You play a ladyboy sport. What sport? Golf. Sean Strickland ranked his most masculine sports in order from being a man to being a lady boy. Golf came in second to last.
39:41Big Cat:What's the top? Top to bottom.
39:43PFT Commenter:MMA. That's number one. Duh. Kickboxing, boxing, wrestling, rugby, hockey, football, baseball. Sports sucks, though. He put a note on that. Okay. But also masculine. Yeah. But it still sucks. Lacrosse, tennis, soccer, golf, swimming. Swimming is in last place Why swimming I like the baseball Sports sucks though Okay dude I don't know But you gotta do something about this Who should be ahead of Tennis Okay I agree with that But swimming should be ahead of both of you Swimming is way harder It should be golf tennis
40:28Big Cat:Swimming is hard I think golf might be last I'm starting to see his point you don't touch anybody else no contact what about when you tag your you don't tag you don't touch in swimming you touch the wall yeah I mean golf all those other sports are like competitions versus other teams other people's golf is really just you know you're playing versus yourself so I kind of see where he's coming from there's no even tennis you could if you get hit with like a certain Those are going fast. Yeah, they are pretty athletic. It sounds like this guy just made a list of sports in which you're spending more of your time hugging another guy.
41:09Big Cat:That's true. And then that is the most masculine.
41:12PFT Commenter:And sports that he, it turns out he's really good at the ones that he listed at the top. That's true, yeah. Yeah. I'd imagine he doesn't have a great backhand. Probably not in tennis. All right, and then my cool throne is Detroit Tiger center fielder, James Outman. Being at the game last night, I'll be fully transparent. I watch the Cubs. I don't watch any other teams. How the hell did this guy make it to the Major League Baseball? His name is James Outman. Yeah. It is probably the most impressive thing that's ever taken place. James Outman. He's incredible. So shout out James Outman. I mean, he stinks.
41:56PFT Commenter:He gets a lot of outs.
41:57Big Cat:It might be a boy named Sue. He's batting 153. A boy named Sue situation where it's like you had to be extra good because your name was Outman. But James Outman, shout out.
42:07PFT Commenter:There's certain names that in the history of sports, like Chris Blewett, Kenny Pickett, they're just like, that can't. You can't work that. You got to be a pitcher. Yeah. You get outs. Outman would rock. Outman is an awesome name for a pitcher. A closer or something. Yeah. Yeah, he's the opposite of Homer Bailey. Homer Bailey should have been a hitter.
42:27Big Cat:Yep. Homer Bailey was a pitcher. What? Dicker the kicker. That's just a good name. It just rhymes. That's a little different. It's tough, though. No more words. Yeah, Blue with the kicker.
42:38PFT Commenter:Yeah.
42:39Big Cat:Blue it. It's tough. Like, Blue it.
42:40PFT Commenter:Or, like, there's a basketball player, Frank Brachowski. What are you shaking your head at, Max? Listen, he didn't get it. He didn't get what we were doing. That's fine. No, we're good. That was – we're good. What?
42:50Big Cat:Hey, be like a golfer named Bogey. No. what's the name Adam Shank yeah
42:54PFT Commenter:isn't that a golfer I don't know search it I think it's S-C-H-E-N-K and I only know this because I was trying to find more of them last night and I think I saw that one yep Adam Shank that's a brutal name for a golfer so yeah I mean James Outman every time he came up I think he got out every single time. And the Tigers fans sitting in front of us are like, yeah, this guy gets out a lot. That's tough. Yes, that's really tough. Yeah. I was just blown away. And like, when you're in middle school, they'd be like, hey, guess what? Baseball's not for you. You're a pitcher. You're an outman. You make a lot of outmans.
43:35PFT Commenter:Or an umpire. Yeah. Be a great umpire. That would be cool. That would be cool. James Outman. A gay umpire. Yeah. That would be really cool. That's the outman. Yeah. There he is. he's an umpire judging people if they're gay or not yeah walking around bar to bar yeah the out man yeah safe you're out all right zach that's a ball my uh my hot seat this week is gonna be
44:01Big Cat:alex bregman uh cubs at home game we had baseball guys talking about the winds blowing out it's 51 49 night this is a little mean it's buzzing and then at the bottom of the night friend of the Friend of the program. Friend of the program. Great guy, I'm sure.
44:16PFT Commenter:I saw him before. You were standing right next to me. Great friend of the program. Yeah, super kind guy. But the C was just a little hot.
44:22Big Cat:The C was hot respectfully. We're just talking ball.
44:25PFT Commenter:Say I should have gotten the ball in the air before him, too.
44:28Big Cat:Yeah. All things considered, bases loaded, 5-5. And then the count 3-0, and then it went downhill.
44:35PFT Commenter:Well, I mean, he had to take one strike. You got to watch one. Second strike was a good pitch. Third strike, you can't stand there with your bat on your shoulder. He's a little inside. Probably shouldn't have swung, but what are you going to do? Yeah, it sucked, all right, Zach? It sucked. It did. It did. He was hot. He's been struggling this year. I want to be fair. And I want him to be good again, and I think he has gotten hot a little bit. Last night sucked. It did.
45:02Big Cat:Last night was hot.
45:03PFT Commenter:Did you have a bet on him or something?
45:04Big Cat:No, I just wanted to see the win.
45:06PFT Commenter:You just wanted to specifically pick out Bregman?
45:08Big Cat:I saw it. Look, I was there. I saw it. I didn't know how to feel. It was a hot seat.
45:13PFT Commenter:Yeah, no, it hasn't been. He said it himself. He hasn't had a great season. He could have so many cool throws coming, though. It was just one game. We're going to bounce back. We're going to bounce back. One game. Friend of the program. Friend of the program, great guy. I can't wait for him to come to the office. Good swing on Bregman. And I'll say, hey, there's the guy who's put you on the hot seat. He's wanted you to do better. Yeah.
45:29Big Cat:Bregman was the guy that he really got boned by the K-Zone, by the measurements when everyone had to do the tail of the tape. Yeah. He was the reverse Zach. Yeah. He lost like three inches. I guess I can flip it and reverse it. I'll put myself in the hot seat real quick. All right, Missy. I was rooting for the Cubs because it was a home game. So one of the guys who's up to bat ended up being Riley Green. I called him a bum because I wanted the Cubs to win. And then they're like, oh, he's on your dingus only team. So I'll reverse it. I'll take credit for that. Yeah. I called out and said, you're a bum.
46:01Big Cat:And then, yeah, he's on my team. So that's on me. And then cool thrown, eighth innings.
46:08PFT Commenter:Okay.
46:08Big Cat:Eighth innings because we got a double dugout clearance in the Yankees-Pirates game. This is how you build the sport of baseball. We need more of this. Guys are swinging. There should be the limited amount of times guys get into a fight in a baseball stadium. You know what, Zach? I agree. I think in hockey, it's part of the game. It's part of the culture. If baseball knew what they were doing, they would make June, July, and maybe the first two weeks of August hockey rules for fights.
46:36PFT Commenter:Yeah, or just do a weekly fight night where it's like, if you decide to fight, there will be no suspensions, no nothing. So, like, Wednesday nights, you can fight if you want to. You don't have to fight. Don't force it. But this is the night that you can fight with no penalties. Yeah. That would be so... I mean, people would tune in.
46:56Big Cat:Guys who were on the fence would be in. Yeah. You mean a lot of other guys. So, you're saying you're in.
47:01PFT Commenter:If baseball starts to fight, you're in.
47:03Big Cat:If guys start swinging like this all the time, I'm all the way in.
47:05PFT Commenter:Okay.
47:07Big Cat:All right. Baseball. Enforcers, you know? How do we feel about that? You start bringing some guys on just because they're huge?
47:12PFT Commenter:Yeah. Baseball, you've heard his demands. Come correct.
47:16Big Cat:Send out some 6 '5", 285 guys.
47:18PFT Commenter:Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Good hot seat, cool throne. Let's do our Mount Rushmore brought to you by our friends at Reese's. There's something for everyone when it comes to Reese's. We have the Reese's Lounge upstairs here. It is the best candy that's ever been created. If you're doing a Mount Rushmore of candies, Reese's is number one. And guess what? Reese's is probably number two, number three, number four as well, because you have everything. You get the Reese's sticks. You get the Reese's, the animal crackers with the Reese's. You've got Reese's pieces. You got everything. Everything is Reese's, and it's all good.
47:52PFT Commenter:Also, the Oreo Reese's cups that they've come out with are so, so good. It might be my favorite candy I've ever had. So go get a Reese's today. The Reese's is like the Spain national team. Best in the world. They lift the trophy. That is because Reese's is always there, always dominant. We love Reese's, and it's not just, like I said, not just the peanut butter cups. They got everything, but the peanut butter cups. They run the ball, and they run it well right down your throat. Reese's peanut butter cups are the absolute best. Reese's, the official candy partner of Barstool Sports. Go get a Reese's wherever you shop.
48:31PFT Commenter:okay boys it is Mount Rushmore time we're going to do the Mount Rushmore of non-edible things that look delicious and so and Mount Rushmore right now what is the scores it's Big Cat Maximim 29 PFT 20 Hank and Zach 17 nice little comeback from Hank and Zach we're fighting not giving up this should be a fun one non-edible things that look delicious who is going first? I believe that's you. We're going first. And then me. Then me, Max and memes. No, just big cap.
49:11Big Cat:Zach, I think one or two. Who's in charge? Wait, you don't have your big board together? You do have a big board. You guys knew you had the first pick. I know, but now I'm second guessing. The Raiders on the clock and Tom Brady's like, hang on, I gotta do this viral video with Logan Paul. Does everyone have an obvious one? Oh, yeah.
49:29PFT Commenter:Oh, yeah. No, there shouldn't be debate.
49:32Big Cat:You already know what you're... You went into this draft. I know. You've been on the clock.
49:35PFT Commenter:We go in this draft being like, okay, what are they going to take? One and two.
49:39Big Cat:I think we go... Who's running this draft? Two before one. All right. We're going to go with Nickelodeon slime.
49:44PFT Commenter:Okay. Oh, good. Really good. Didn't think of it. The non-Google thing really just like I get surprised by answers.
49:53Big Cat:Zach had slime, and then I added that Nickelodeon slime. It's like everyone...
49:56PFT Commenter:Didn't have it on our list. but great pick it's a good pick
50:00Big Cat:what do they make it out of
50:03PFT Commenter:poison yeah I don't know it should be poison no ublic is a fucking lie dude we did the ublic on the act a few years ago that shit is whack you just gotta whip it right yeah but I feel like those videos it's one of those things they have people make it on a Mr. Beast video and they have scientists creating the perfect balance and then you try to do it and you just have wet flour or whatever it is. Borax. Is that what it is? I believe so. Okay. Have you ooblicked? I'll have ooblicked for you. It's a great time. What did you ooblick? Just ooblick. When? Probably third grade.
50:42Big Cat:Oh, okay. All right. My one one's still on the board. I'm going to go with Tide Pods. Laundry pods. Good. They look delicious. Look like some gummies, some gushers. The colors are meant to be eaten. They know what they're doing when they make those Tide Pods. Yeah. Didn't have it.
50:58PFT Commenter:Didn't have it either. Memes, what was that look? That face? We got both our 1-1 and 1-2. Should we do both of those? Yeah, do both of our 1-1s. Okay. All right. We're going to go with the old classics. Glue. Glue is delicious. It looks delicious. Especially when you're -
51:13Big Cat:It looks like icing. Yeah. It's so good. What? You don't like glue? I was never appetized by glue. Oh, man. Glue looks so good.
51:22PFT Commenter:Glue smells good. I never wanted to eat it, though. Oh, I've wanted to eat it. I could see that. A lot of times.
51:26Big Cat:The number one thing of what children eat in kindergarten. That's true, and it's dangerous. Yeah, one kid. There's one kid that loves glue. All right, and then our next one. What are we doing? I think you guys just have a team of the three one kids that love glue.
51:42PFT Commenter:Glue looks delicious. It looks like frosting. It's frosting. Right. It looks delicious. All right, go ahead, Max. What's our next pick? And then our next pick will be Play-Doh. Play-Doh. Play-Doh is two. It does always look delicious as well. The yellow.
51:56Big Cat:Glue I never, yeah. I was never baptized with glue. I definitely nippled on some Play-Doh. Oh, yeah.
52:00PFT Commenter:I mean, people eat Play-Doh. It's salty as fuck. It smells good, too. It doesn't taste good, but yeah, it smells good. It's fun to put in your hands, and you're like, hey, what if I just took a little bite? And half the time you're doing Play-Doh, you're making actual food items. Like, you're making a Play-Doh pizza.
52:15Big Cat:Yeah. Oh, shit. I want to eat this. I remember in kindergarten, our teacher had us make peanut butter Play-Doh. We made our own Play-Doh out of peanut butter that you could eat, and that sent a bad message to the class, which was you can't eat Play-Doh.
52:26PFT Commenter:Yeah. Listen, when my kids take a little bite of Play-Doh, I'm not saying anything.
52:31Big Cat:All right. I got actually my second pick. I had a tie with Play-Doh and then shaving cream. Shaving cream. Very good. Yep. Very good. Sometimes you put it in like even in pie format. If you're pieing somebody in the face, I just want to eat that pie.
52:48PFT Commenter:Yeah. Agreed. Very good.
52:50Big Cat:You think four or one, Zach?
52:52PFT Commenter:Oh, no. You guys still have your one? You got to take your one. Take the one. You have two picks, by the way.
52:58Big Cat:In which column? The tiny top, heavy middle, tiny bottom. Heavy middle. What? What is going on here? What was that? Heavy middle? Yeah. Yeah. All right. We're going to go. Well, we have like tiny top. We make a note. I make a list. Zach makes a list. And then I started putting together a big list. But what's tiny top, heavy middle? Like the tiny top is my tiny. I have like five. Zach has like five on the bottom. And then we.
53:24PFT Commenter:Heavy middle is the middle?
53:25Big Cat:Is the more organized middle. Okay. So why wouldn't everything be in the heavy middle? Because we don't worry about our process. We're doing fine. No, you're not. You're in last place. We're going to take hot lava. Good pick. Ah, shit.
53:39PFT Commenter:It's a good pick. I had that. They said that it was going to last. Yeah. I wanted to take it. Lava looks great. Always looks delicious.
53:47Big Cat:Reminds me of Reese's.
53:49PFT Commenter:Looks very, very good. Always looks good.
53:52Big Cat:Whatever you want, Zach. Then we would like to pick...
54:00Big Cat:We're going to go with Insulation. Good pick.
54:04PFT Commenter:I had that too. That looks good. That's delicious. The pink stuff is foamy. Good choice. Looks like cotton candy. Really good. Really good.
54:13Big Cat:Okay.
54:14PFT Commenter:PFT. All right.
54:16Big Cat:I'm going to go... I got to go with Windex. Windex looks so refreshing. I want to chug it. Looks like a sports drink. Yeah. Yeah, that's good. That's kind of like what we were. We had blue antifreeze. Antifreeze. But I think Windex is probably better. Yeah. Yep.
54:34PFT Commenter:All right. What do we do, boys? We got a lot. We got to nail these. Yeah. This is a good draft. This is a good draft. This is a good draft all the way around. I think 9 and 17 kind of calls to me. That's exactly the two that I was thinking. Memes, you like that? 9 and 17. I like it. Okay. So we're going to go candles. Candles always look delicious. Yeah. Especially, you know, wax. Smell good. Yeah. Smell good. Look good. And then this one, this is for me. I laughed out loud at this because I thought I was like, shit, I do actually want to eat these. We're going to go with pool noodle. Pool noodle always looks so yummy.
55:08PFT Commenter:I want to take a bite out of it.
55:11Big Cat:Who doesn't take bites out of pool noodles? The fact that it's called a noodle. Yeah, exactly. It's right there for you. Yeah.
55:16PFT Commenter:It's actually bullshit that they make you want to eat it so bad.
55:20Big Cat:All right, my last one, I'm going to go with the lava lamp. Inside of a lava lamp. When it's like gooey, it's jelly. It's different than hot lava. You're going to allow that one? It's lava. It is lava. It's not lava. It's like a gooey jelly thing on the inside. A lava lamp is way different than hot lava. It looks exactly like lava because it's called lava. No, it doesn't. It does look like lava. It does not. What color is lava, Hank?
55:51Big Cat:Lava's like a bright orange. Hank, you gotta fight.
55:54PFT Commenter:You gotta fight. You just picked a lamp.
55:56Big Cat:You just start picking a lamp. Lava lamp. The inside of a lava lamp is completely different from lava. Why is it called a lava lamp, then? Hank, if I tell you that, if we're doing a draft of best sharks, and I say nurse shark, do you say that doesn't count? That's a nurse? So if we take shark and you take shark lamp?
56:16PFT Commenter:I see both sides. I see both sides as well.
56:19Big Cat:I'm saying a lava lamp does not contain lava. You shouldn't get to use the word lava, though. So you want to eat glass. Lava's already been eaten. Because if you're eating the lava lamp, you have to eat the entire lamp. Okay, the inside of a lava lamp. Which is just lava. No, it's not. You can pretend to not know what I'm talking about. Or you can live in reality. You want to eat glass. You want to eat glass. I don't want to eat glass. But it looks like lava. I think anybody out there with a brain knows that the inside of a lava lamp is different from lava that comes out of a volcano. It doesn't even look the same.
56:48Big Cat:It does look the same. Then why is it called a lava lamp? Because that's a cool name, because it's alliteration.
56:53PFT Commenter:Why don't we find another word for it? Let's give you the pick that it's just. Goo lamp. Lava lamp. The inside of a lava lamp. Other names. Hold on. Let's just. Astro lamp.
57:04Big Cat:You get astro lamp. No, no. I'm not doing astro lamp. That's fair. I'm not doing astro lamp. Yeah, you get astro lamp. You want lava lamp because it looks like lava. Lava looks. Yeah, you get astro lamp.
57:12PFT Commenter:Nobody knows what an astro lamp is. Or you get bubble light or bubbling decorative light. I'm fine with either of those.
57:19Big Cat:These are terrible, terrible names. Liquid light show? You want liquid light show? These are terrible names for lava. To be fair. Oh, Plasma Globe. Plasma Globe is good. We can act like we think that it's actually lava inside of a lava lamp if you want. To be fair. How do you do? Lava lamps are called lava lamps because they look like lava.
57:38PFT Commenter:And this is a draft of things that look appetizing but are not edible. Wow. Max actually succinctly summed that up.
57:48Big Cat:Proud of you. I'm going with Lava Lamp as my pick. It's completely different from Lava. I mean, we got to vote. It's a different pick. We got to vote. But you see what Max is saying. We're talking about things. I'm seeing what AI is telling Max to say.
58:01PFT Commenter:We're talking about things that are not edible and that they look like they're yummy. Yeah. They pick lava. You pick something that looks like lava. They're the same pick. I know that lava lamps aren't lava. I don't think that a lava lamp looks like lava. But it's made to mimic the look of lava. Would you have been okay if we took antifreeze when you took Windex?
58:23Big Cat:Yeah, you could have taken it. It would have been a bad pick, but you could have taken it. But they look the same. Lava lamps, they don't look like lava. They're not the same color as lava. It's about the texture of the goo that's inside. It moves around when it's hot. like lava. I don't know why people are pretending to not understand there's a big difference between lava coming out of a volcano and a mixture of what it looks like. It's not about what the substance is, it's about what it looks like. Does it look good? Does it look appetizing? It does look appetizing. Because it looks like lava.
58:59Big Cat:It's a different thing. One pick is named after another pick and also made to look like another pick. Correct. I think we should vote.
59:08PFT Commenter:All right, you guys, vote.
59:10Big Cat:I vote no.
59:11PFT Commenter:I'm reading about lava lamps. Give me a second.
59:17Big Cat:So if it's inside of a lava lamp, I think he gets paraffin then. That's what it's called.
59:22PFT Commenter:Yeah. Or bubble light. But no one knows what those things are. The inside of a lava lamp. The liquid light show.
59:32PFT Commenter:Lava Manufacturing Corporation. Oh, it started in Chicago. Cool. All right, so what's the vote? I vote no. Max Beams? Big Hat's captain of our team. No, Max is the captain of our team. Max, you vote. Max is not the captain of our team. Max, you vote.
59:53Big Cat:I'm trying to figure out who I want to vote. Yes, I vote that it does count.
1:00:00PFT Commenter:I'll vote counts.
1:00:02Big Cat:Good pick. Is that the right call? Democracy wins. Wow. It's good to know that cooler heads prevail at the ballot box. Thank you, Max.
1:00:12PFT Commenter:Crazy. All right, Zach, do I do three or four?
1:00:21Oh, what do we think about? Three over four, but do you feel good about three to round it out?
1:00:33Big Cat:Pretty good, yeah. Okay, I'm in. Or the second one on the top on the short list. That one's also good. That one might do better than four on the fat list. or three on the fat list. Go with the skinny list. Yeah, this was my second pick on the skinny list. It's a pencil eraser.
1:00:57PFT Commenter:Good pick. Yeah, we had it on our list. It's a good pick. Had it on our list. Okay, what did we miss?
1:01:04Big Cat:The other two we were deciding between was a bouquet of flowers. I had tulips. Tulips look delicious. Caribbean ocean water. Yeah, ocean water. You're right. But it's got regular... Like, the Atlantic Ocean, like, some of the ocean, like, northeast ocean water is, like, dark, whatever. Like, when you're flying over the Caribbean, it looks delicious. It does. I had earplugs, like, foam earplugs look kind of delicious, especially if they're the multicolored ones. Paint. Paint. Paint. If you're Bruce Arians, yeah. I had the blue barbershop disinfectant that you put the combs in, but that's, like, too similar to Windex, I think.
1:01:44Big Cat:Zach, what is Bondo? Bono is like a paste you make to fill a hole or maybe like a gash in metal. You mix it up. It kind of looks like putty.
1:01:55PFT Commenter:Yeah. Stress balls. Yeah. Stress balls look delicious. Ping pong balls as well. Mouse pads. Legos. Oh, the jelly. The wrist guard. Carpal tunnel. Oh, that's a good one. That's a good one. Legos. Cotton balls. I've never been into Legos, but I could see it. I could see it. The markers that smell good. We want to just say, right? We just want to be out in the open saying we will never eat the bugs. But if we were to eat bugs, ladybugs do look like a candy could just pop.
1:02:30Big Cat:Yeah. That chick from was Oklahoma. The softball player.
1:02:34PFT Commenter:Oh, yeah. She ate the ladybugs. Also, meme said spiders. I don't know about that one. No, I'm not. I was just throwing ideas out.
1:02:41Big Cat:I thought deodorant was good. Yeah.
1:02:43PFT Commenter:Like Old Spice. I liked your aluminum foil pick. It kind of looks delicious. Ball it up.
1:02:49Big Cat:I said pearls. I didn't get it. I feel like pearls look like little candies. Little onions, maybe? Yeah. Tiny little onions. Memes also said eating butt. I didn't know the looks delicious part. You don't think butt looks delicious? Looks cute. It looks cute. Mm-hmm. Okay. I got marbles. Marbles could be tasty.
1:03:09PFT Commenter:Marbles, good one. Marbles look really good to eat. Yeah. Yeah. Also, we should just say, do not eat any of these things if you're listening or your kids are listening. We probably should have started with that. Yeah. It's not good for you. Don't do that. Don't do it. Crayons. Yeah. Crayons smell good, too. Crayons is a mess. Crayons could be one that people get pissed at us for. Yeah. Crayons are really good. I actually think crayons might actually be delicious. Like, that's one of those ones. We've said a lot of these where I'm like, yeah, of course. There's no way. Like you wouldn't eat that.
1:03:43PFT Commenter:Play-Doh is kind of delicious. Oh, yeah. No. Well, it's really salty. I've tried it recently. Which color crayon?
1:03:51Big Cat:Probably green for health.
1:03:54PFT Commenter:I'm trying to get the most vitamins. What are the best color crayons? Orange. Orange looks pretty good. The peach. That's the thing, too, is they confuse you by naming it after foods.
1:04:04Big Cat:Yeah.
1:04:05PFT Commenter:Like the banana. There's a banana crayon. When you get the big box, like the hundred where they basically ran out of colors. So they're like, oh, we can't just say yellow. It's like yellow, banana. Right. Yeah, like maybe a sea foam. I could eat one of those. I could eat a purple crayon. Easy. One bite. Everyone knows the rules. They could be savory, probably. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Purple crayon would rock, actually. Maybe like shaving one of those. Oh, shaving like a black crayon, like a truffle on some pastas, some cacio pepe. I could do that. Black crayon garnish. Yeah, I could absolutely do that.
1:04:42PFT Commenter:Baseball cards. I remember I got into eating baseball cards a little bit back in the day, about a year ago. Yeah. They actually didn't look delicious, and they were not good. But I did eat them.
1:04:52Big Cat:Same thing with football. Yeah, football. I tried to eat a football. Pencils. Made me throw up. Yeah. I ate so many pencils. You ate pencils? Well, I would just chew on them. Yeah, chew them. Yeah.
1:05:02PFT Commenter:Oh, yeah, yeah, chew on them.
1:05:03Big Cat:Well, I still chew on everything. You still eat them. You chew on everything. I chew on everything. Yeah, when you get to like a mouth guard.
1:05:07PFT Commenter:Oh, I mean, this one is actually another chew thing. Bottle caps. I actually like to chew on those. I have a serious problem with those.
1:05:16Big Cat:I get yelled at a ton to this day for chewing on bottle caps. Yeah. Fingernails.
1:05:23PFT Commenter:I think I'm going to be... I've been thinking about this. You guys tell me if this is not a look I can pull off. But I've been thinking about being one of those guys that just always has the... Toothpick? No, the singular floss things in their mouth. Oh. And just pointing with it. Maybe have a Bluetooth earphone.
1:05:42Big Cat:You're going to be a little more Italian for that. Yeah, listen, I don't know. Toothpick is...
1:05:47PFT Commenter:Not toothpick. I know I'm not a toothpick guy. Toothpick guy is a badass. It's Razor Ramon. I'm saying the little one stick. You know what I mean? Those flossers help with the bottle cap thing. Yeah, yeah. Huge. I've just been thinking about it. I'm not saying I'm going to do it, but I've been thinking about it.
1:06:02Big Cat:You know, some dentists, they don't count that as flossing. I was super pumped I was super pumped because I've been Flossing every day with those things And then the dentist was like yeah that doesn't actually do the same thing And I think that's big dentist That's big tooth trying to get at you
1:06:18PFT Commenter:Alright good draft guys Should we get to our interviews? Toothpaste Toothpaste That's actually edible That's 100 % edible It says don't swallow though
1:06:31Big Cat:It's meant to go in your mouth
1:06:33PFT Commenter:Oh, the shampoo with the little beads in it. Yep. You know what I'm saying? The orbits of shampoos. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That shit. I could just lick it.
1:06:48Big Cat:They're supposed to be for your dogs, these little balls of air deodorizers. Oh, yeah. Do you know what I'm talking about? They look like Dippin' Dots. Yes. Yeah. Oh, these things. Oh, yeah. That's not fair. They know what they're doing. They look so delicious, but I didn't know how to explain that.
1:07:06PFT Commenter:Oh, my God. Yeah. Those are so good. I also had cinnamon. Cinnamon's edible. Yeah, you eat cinnamon. You said that. I kind of glossed that. Yeah, we glossed over it. We didn't even acknowledge it when you said cinnamon. That's 100 % edible. Eat a tablespoon of cinnamon. Let's see. That's not. But you can eat. You put cinnamon on things. No, cinnamon is trash. People can eat cinnamon.
1:07:29PFT Commenter:Chocolate.
1:07:32Big Cat:All right, let's get to our interviews. Before we get to Jimmy Tatro, he's brought to you by Twisted Tea. Summer's here, and so is the Twisted Tea Summer Party Pack. 1:08:13PFT Commenter:Okay, we now welcome on a very, very, very special guest. It is our good friend, longtime friend, Jimmy Tatro, A-lister. He's got a new show out called Hawk on Netflix with Will Ferrell. Jimmy, great to have you back in studio. I actually, I was doing some reading before, and maybe this is out of date, but are you in talks to be in a Marvel movie? DC, yeah. Is that the same as Marvel? No. Okay. No, I'm playing, yeah, I'm going to be playing Gorilla Grodd. Oh, you got it. Yeah. All right, so we're done. We got it. It's official, yeah. We're done. Because this was our long plan. is like, we'll have Jimmy on in 2019, and eventually he'll be in an action movie with...
1:09:00PFT Commenter:Who's it? Superman? It's in the Superman spinoff series. We're not big, as you can tell.
1:09:06Big Cat:I owned one comic book growing up. We don't really know this stuff, but we're pumped for you. I read The Death of Superman when Doomsday got him. Besides that, I don't know anything about... But this is big. This is like the peak of your arc.
1:09:18PFT Commenter:It's all downhill from here. It's all... You're going to be washed. next time we have you on yeah it's all down here i'm gonna be super washed and exhausted from playing this gorilla you're gonna be a gorilla i'm gonna be a gorilla yeah is it gonna be like are you voice acting are they gonna cgi it's mostly voice acting um and i think they're gonna like use my expressions um hell yeah i don't know exactly the tech but like yeah they asked me if i would be interested it's the same guys who did american vandal that are making this okay so um yeah I don't know how much I'm supposed to say I feel like they're pretty strict about this stuff but like no they don't care yeah they don't care but but but yeah I'm hyped and I'm like yeah it's it's I feel like I was born to play a gorilla
1:10:07Big Cat:yeah you do I like in a very respectful way I mean this you have a great gorilla voice yeah you got that deep voice thank you and I think if you look at photos of Gorilla Grodd I think like the resemblance is uncanny
1:10:20PFT Commenter:Okay. Also, that's very funny because we don't know what a gorilla actually sounds like when they're speaking English. But he does have a map. I've been watching extensive game film. I've been diving into Planet of the Apes. I've been watching some David Attenborough gorilla documentaries.
1:10:34Big Cat:Have you seen Coco? Have you watched any tape on Coco? No, but I'll add that to the list. I plan on just consuming nonstop gorilla content.
1:10:40PFT Commenter:Do you have any thoughts on the big gorilla trade that happened a couple months ago? Oh, you didn't? Oh, this guy doesn't know gorillas. No, I know. I know. But maybe for the viewers that don't know, maybe just. It sounds like you're casual. Yeah. There's a big gorilla trade between the Pittsburgh Zoo and the Boston Zoo. Wait, what? Pittsburgh got younger. I had a good position. Yeah. Pittsburgh's playing for the future, and Boston's playing for now. It was like. Wait, is this real? Yeah.
1:11:07Big Cat:Boston's in win now mode. They wanted a mature gorilla. Pittsburgh, they're tanking. And so they're like, we need to get a young core together and put together a good squad that's going to grow together. Yeah. You go back to Pittsburgh in like five years, they're going to have a fucking amazing spot. They won the trade.
1:11:22PFT Commenter:All right, so I guess we got - I didn't know zoos were moving like this. We got way too deep into this. Pittsburgh traded like a 35-year-old gorilla who is like out of his prime of making baby gorillas. And I guess gorillas, like when they're not fucking, they just only hang out with the dudes. It's just like a bachelor party. So they traded him to Boston where it's all dudes. and then they traded Boston traded a young gorilla to Pittsburgh so that he can fuck and make more gorillas. Oh, my God. Yeah. Wait, and was it just a straight up gorilla for gorilla? It was one for one, yeah. Or was it more in cash?
1:11:54Big Cat:No cash. No cash considerations. No gorilla to be named later. No future picks. Yeah. And who are these GMs of these zoos? Maybe the best job in America. I actually think you could put it. It's probably a six-year-old. Like a six-year-old would make an outstanding. He's just a genius. Yeah, GM. This is insane. Did they throw in other animals, or was it just gorillas? I think it was just gorillas. This is rare because I think it was just straight up gorilla for gorilla swap. But when you have big players on the move, that typically happens. But you do see bigger. You see some three-team trades sometimes when the Utah Zoo chimes in.
1:12:29Big Cat:They're like, hey, we got a couple of fish we'll throw in if you want to send. Yeah. They're like, throw in some horses. We can only give you three gorillas, but we have a pretty sick giraffe. Yeah. That's just kind of chilling. And we have four other giraffes. So we can even give you two giraffes.
1:12:44PFT Commenter:So this was from May 14th. The Pittsburgh Zoo announced on Thursday that it's saying goodbye to Frankie, a seven-year-old male Western lowland gorilla who was born to mom Mocha in 2018 and welcoming 33-year-old silverback Little Joe from Boston's Franklin Park Zoo. Oh, I had it opposite. The 33-year-old Little Joe is the guy who's going to fuck. Frankie is too young to fuck. And who announced this? Adam Schefter? It would have been great.
1:13:10Big Cat:I might have actually tweeted about it. Breaking news. Yeah, we do need like a Shams for a zoo. Yeah.
1:13:16PFT Commenter:So, look, it turns out you actually need to get more into gorillas. Yeah, no, I didn't realize this is a whole, yeah, I feel like an idiot now.
1:13:25Big Cat:Yeah. The messed up thing was, like, when I was growing up, Coco the gorilla, that was America's gorilla. Yeah. Everyone knew about Coco, and they taught this gorilla sign language, so it could communicate with the zookeeper. Which I feel like we don't talk about enough. I know. It learned how to talk. This thing learned how to communicate with humans. And then the most fucked up thing was we gave it a kitty, like a little tiny kitten. And then the kitten died. And then now the gorilla is expressing how sad it is all the time. It was like the worst thing ever. It's like, Coco sad, Coco sad. Where's my kitty?
1:13:58Big Cat:It's like, why did you teach this thing? Coco passed away though, right? Yeah, RIP. Yeah, RIP Coco. Because wasn't his final message somewhat profound? I think it was. Let me look this up. Didn't he give a very profound final message to his best friend, the woman that talked to him? Yeah, I think he did. Did the woman that was his best friend publicize that? Actually, his last words were how great I am. It was like he was on some don't harm the world type shit before he passed, if I'm not mistaken.
1:14:32PFT Commenter:All right, he's going to look that up. I'm looking it up, yeah. I'm on this right now. I'm hoping that one day in the future I go to the zoo and they're all like, yo, that's that's the gorilla that's Gorilla Grodd. Yeah, there he is in the flesh. Alright, so that's awesome that you're doing this Hawk on Netflix how sick is it to work with Will Ferrell? You worked with him before, right? This is our fourth time working together, but this is So, are you part of the crew? I think I'm part of the crew now Yeah, like are you texting with Will Ferrell? We text Yeah, alright, so that's pretty fun. Have you gone to the Lakers game with will ferrell uh we haven't gone to a lakers that's when i think it makes it official we've gone golfing a few times okay how is he at golf he's we're pretty he's he's pretty solid yeah he's pretty solid but it's the best man i mean we we started out the first thing we did was just like r-rated cgi animal movie called strays yeah we had like a voice session together and then he produced a movie i did called theater camp so that was where we got to know each other a little more and then we did this movie you're cordially invited which i think was the last time i was here yep and then we did another movie that hasn't come out yet that comes out in march and they were kind of asking me on set like so can you golf how's your golf game and i was like yeah i can golf and then like a month later we started we started shooting the hawk so did you have to take any lessons to like get a little bit better i crammed as many lessons i changed my whole swing yeah i like went into a one of those you know like one of those tga well i forget what it's called but like the city golf or whatever and they show you the video of your swing and i saw the video and i was like oh god i've been swinging like that all this time i look like an idiot yeah uh and then i changed the entire swing which was pretty awkward for a couple months and then i started getting used to it now i'd say i'm significantly better than i was like a year and having the swing look good is like you know it doesn't really matter how you score it's just If the swing looks good, then people are like, oh, shit, that's a nice swing.
1:16:32PFT Commenter:That's all I want.
1:16:33Big Cat:I don't need to be good at golf. I just want people to look at me and be like, he actually has a pretty good swing. Right. They kept being like, that's all we care about. You don't need to actually get good. The swing just needs to look good. Right. I was like, well, we might as well kill two birds with one stunt.
1:16:46PFT Commenter:Yeah, might as well get good. Have you had people critique your swing yet? Because that's coming. Yeah. Oh, you mean like from the show? Yeah, well, just online. People are going to see the show. It'll happen. I mean, the show just came out. yesterday so it's only a matter of time before but one of the reasons i was like i have to get good is because there's going to be an expectation now yeah and the amount of times i've been like golfing with someone and they're like yo i just played with that kid from stick he wasn't even good right and i was like and they thought i would think it was funny but i was like fuck that's gonna be that's you yeah that is 100 you they're gonna be like oh i played with that kid from the
1:17:22Big Cat:hawk not even good i played with the gorilla he wasn't that strong this is a maybe a dumb question but when you're filming a golf show do you get to play golf yeah so like in between that was probably the best part of the show is in between setups they'd be like we have an hour and we'd be like okay we'll be handing my 56 and we'd hop hop over to like the chipping green and just and also it's hilarious because a lot of times the background would still be there like the extras yeah so there'd be like a crowd of like 300 just like kind of waiting for the next setup but we'd be over there chipping and they'd just be watching because they have nothing else to do besides being on their phones.
1:17:57And so when you'd hit a good shot, every now and then I'd chip one and roll in, there'd be a cheer from the crowd. Right. And it was kind of hilarious.
1:18:06Big Cat:Yeah. By the way, I just found Coco's last words. Okay. They asked her where gorillas go when they die, and she signed comfortable hole, bye.
1:18:17PFT Commenter:This is fucked up.
1:18:18Big Cat:That's really morbid. I would rather the gorilla not. This was a mistake. No, I actually like that. Comfortable. like that's not what I was thinking of though there was another one where she said because is Jane Goodall the one that the girls in the mist that was that was a different so Jane Goodall she lived over in Africa she's lived with she was basically like a honorary gorilla yeah right yeah but uh Coco lived I think at the San Francisco Zoo oh so that's not the they weren't friends they weren't friends but so there was another signing gorilla then that talked to Jane Goodall I'm pretty sure or am I sure Jane Goodall might have met Coco at some point I think if you're the like number one top gorilla human yeah on the planet you probably would have crossed
1:18:57PFT Commenter:paths with coco at some point i actually like that though from coco having the self-awareness being like yeah dude i'm worm food like i'm not going to heaven or anything it's just like it's pretty simple yeah like you guys are overthinking this shit like if you're teaching the gorilla
1:19:09Big Cat:about death and depending on who's teaching the gorilla it might be like a christian they'd be like i'm sorry you're not like i get to go to heaven but when gorillas die you're just fucking gone i'm sorry baptize a gorilla to teach gorillas about death like they didn't know yeah you guys watch that there was that gorilla documentary that was all about how like i forget where i forget what part of africa but they've like formed gangs yeah yeah and they're in a war yeah they're in a war a territory war and they like go out and like scout like and if someone like gets in their territory they kill them decades long these these gorillas have been fighting are these it might be chimps with but the monkeys whatever they're fighting and their grooming is all political like if you groom with the higher ups then that's how you make your way to the top yeah and if you try to groom them and then they groom you that's a sign of mutual respect and if you like get over your skis you try to groom somebody that you shouldn't you get smacked yeah and you get attacked yeah fascinating it is it's interesting stuff but uh yeah r.i.p.
1:20:06Big Cat:coco they did ask coco um about about the planet right before she died she said i am gorilla I am nature man stupid fix earth that's what I that's what I was but that was that was from a PSA that she recorded in 2015 so it was like a couple years before she died okay but that's what I was thinking we should just say that yeah those are her last words yeah yeah it's job
1:20:27PFT Commenter:what would have been nice if the gorilla gave us like some powerball numbers on the way out or something yeah I would have played those yeah picked it picked picked the uh next year's super bowl where uh speaking of which can we talk about how you must be so relieved that you are now out from under the spell of LeBron James. I am. You have your team back. I am, yeah. You have your franchise back. I am, and what's so great about it is that we got to keep Bronny. Yeah, well. I was so worried we were going to lose him. Yeah, you're losing Bronny. And then when I saw that we signed him, I was like, thank God.
1:20:59No, I am a little relieved. We're a little bit alarmingly white. Very. I would say maybe too white.
1:21:09PFT Commenter:We were talking about that with Austin Reeves being like, dude, what is it like you come in the league and you're on a team and you're like, I'm the white scrappy guy. Now you're just like you don't have anything that differentiates you. Yeah.
1:21:21Big Cat:I mean, it's far cry from showtime. You guys are going to lead the league in like bounce passes. Just made the whole two handed layup. The whole plane out of Kurt Rambis. It's bro time. It's going to be fun. I think that Luca is he looks good. Yeah. He's in shape. When he first joined the Lakers, did you, honestly, when you saw him, you were like, this guy could probably lose a little bit of weight. Luka? Yeah. I wasn't really thinking about that, about the weight. You don't think about another man's weight? I feel like when he showed up, he was good by then, right? He's a little fat. He kind of got his revenge body going.
1:21:54He gets it in the summer.
1:21:56PFT Commenter:There's always just one picture of him playing. It's got to be so funny being one of his team members on the national team, like the 12th guy on that team being like, I get to play with Luca. Like, this is pretty sick. Yeah. You know, but I, I think the Lakers are gonna be good. I like to imagine Rob Blinka being in a, in a meeting. Like, so guys, I have an idea and this is going to sound crazy. And they're like, Rob, don't, don't say it. He's like, we go wider. Yeah. And they're like, Oh God, Rob, we can't go wider. We go even wider guys. Do you have, when we talked to Austin Reeves, we, we brought up the fact, Do you hold anything against him?
1:22:35PFT Commenter:The fact that he was... Well, actually, no. This would be pro-Lakers. He was a big-time LeBron troll when he was a kid, which makes it very funny, and a huge Kobe stand. Oh, really? Yeah, so he actually earns his Lakers pinstripe. I don't know what the pinstripe is. Yeah, that's like Lakers fans in a nutshell. Yeah. And then LeBron came, and we're like, I mean, it's cool. It's cool to have LeBron. You can't deny it. It's cool to have LeBron. But then after a while, you're like, okay.
1:23:03Big Cat:I think he tweeted when he was a kid, like, I'm putting my phone into LeBron mode. No rings. Yeah. It's pretty good. Yeah, when he was, like, flipping on silent. Reeves tweeted that? Yeah, Reeves tweeted when he was, like, 12 years old. That's so funny. And then somebody found it and brought it up to him when he was on the Lakers, and he went up to LeBron, and he's like, hey, man, so they just found this. No offense. He's just a diehard Kobe fan. And you can admit it now, like, you didn't like him on the Lakers, right? The whole time he felt dirty. I didn't love the vibe. I didn't love the vibe that he kind of I don't love his vibe but I respect him I respect everything and like undeniably impressive what he's still able to do right now and then especially like late in the playoffs like he was really it was extremely impressive but yeah I mean I'm a Kobe guy Yeah.
1:24:02Yeah, I just like the tenacity. I like the ferocity.
1:24:08Big Cat:I do feel like if not during this season next year, the Lakers are about to make some big move. There's going to be something big that happens again. I actually, I got to be honest, I don't know who that guy is that we just got that, the one who completed our white.
1:24:22PFT Commenter:Yeah, from Utah? Yeah. He's good. He played at Auburn. He's good. He's basically, his job is going to be there to catch lobs from Luka, which is a great strategy that's good like that he has great nicknames yeah all the ones i've seen are incredible yeah when you put what were some of the ones you saw i saw like cream abdul jabbar okay that's good i saw milk chamberlain okay i saw um it was like one of those things where the comment section just like went off and everyone had a good one to offer yeah he uh but he he is uh yeah like building around luca it's like we just need a big guy who can who can dunk the ball in the lane when Luka is going one-on-one and someone goes after him, he's like, just throw it up there.
1:25:04PFT Commenter:And that's what they did with the Mavs. When the Mavs went to the finals, that was Luka just unlocked. There's games where Reeves looks like he's the guy over Luka sometimes, which is cool.
1:25:16Big Cat:And then you got Robbie Avila. He's the guy that you might have seen the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the guy with the rec specs. Oh, maybe that's who I'm thinking of. Yeah, so that's the dude. So he played at St. Louis last year. He's in like the G League right now? Yeah, he's not good at it. Oh, that's what I'm thinking of. But I want him to make the team so bad. He would be so funny to see. He's a good player. Like, he can shoot. Just like announcing him and being able to list off all those names in a row. Yeah. Milk Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Yeah. Just throw like 10 of them out. Yeah. Last time we talked, I don't know if this was on the show or not, but we were talking about the Sublime movie that you were looking at at the time.
1:25:53Oh, wow. Yeah. Okay.
1:25:54Big Cat:So what happened with that? So they were making a biopic about Brad from Sublime there. I think they already did it. Okay. Yeah. I can't sing. So I was like, I'm, I'm, it's not like they wanted me. They were like asked. They, I was, they were, they asked me to like throw my hat in the ring.
1:26:09PFT Commenter:Yeah. But I was like, I can't, I can't sing. Yeah. If you need a gorilla, you got it. I was like, you need a gorilla. Are you worried about being typecast? A little bit, man. Yeah. A little bit. How does it, how does it work? How many different projects are up in the air for you at a given time? Right now, there's like seven. Okay. And it's just all, you're just fielding it, and then some you sign on to, some you're like, all right, maybe it'll happen, maybe it doesn't. Because things just take so long that I've learned you just get as many going as you can. I used to worry about the hypotheticals of if this works out and this works out, how am I going to make it work with the timing?
1:26:51Yeah. But everything takes so long. So now I'm at a point where I have probably six or seven projects that are kind of in development and irons in the fire.
1:27:04PFT Commenter:Right. That's pretty cool. Yeah. And then how long was the shooting for Hawk? How long were you on set? That was maybe four months. Yeah. But we shot in LA, so that was cool. So it was the whole time, though. Like every day you'd get up and go to work. Yeah. Damn. But we would do, we do like little day, not day trips, but we do like little mini trips. Like we'd go out to Camarillo or we'd go to, we did a little trip to the TGL. We shot like an episode at the TGL. Yeah. So we flew out to Palm beach for like three days. How, how often, uh, we, so we were mentioning before there's a, I can't talk a ton about it.
1:27:44PFT Commenter:I'm doing a Jimmy Tatro to Jimmy Tatro, a movie that I might be in coming out in December, But Max and I went there. And when we showed up at the TGL, it's TGL. They they told us about French hours. Oh, yeah. French hours just is essentially for two fat guys like me and Max. We just ate all day. They just were like, it was incredible. French hours make no sense. Yeah. We're like, what do you mean French hours? And then they just it was like breakfast at 6 a.m. Then like sandwiches came at nine. Tacos came at 11. Pasta came at one. And they're like, French hours means we're not going to take an actual break.
1:28:22PFT Commenter:We're just going to eat all day. And we're like, we're in for that.
1:28:25Big Cat:French people do not eat that much. It was like eight meals within six hours.
1:28:30PFT Commenter:Because we took French hours as almost like a challenge. So we have to eat every time they bring out new food. We got to try it. It would be rude not to try the food that they were offering. That is the thing. The first few projects I did where you're on set, just being around that much food. Yeah. It's hard to stop yourself. Yeah. So I've never done French hours, but I've always been curious. I thought it was more just like you don't. I mean, the idea of it is that like lunch kind of creates a big lull. Yeah, right. Where like it's an hour lunch, but then everyone's kind of sluggish coming back in.
1:29:08So it like kind of is like a huge dip in the vibe. And the idea of French hours is like let's sprint through, have a shorter day, and then eat after. I didn't realize that they were bringing they're just bringing all the snacks the breakfast snack, the midday snack
1:29:25PFT Commenter:no it wasn't snacks, it was full meals it was literally full meals every two hours that's kind of cool we ate every single one of them well you have to try it some things were better than the others and then you eat more I can't believe you don't know French hours I thought you were in the biz I've never worked French hours
1:29:45Big Cat:he's a superhero No, I know French hours. I know them. I've just never worked them. But I've always been intrigued because I have felt in the past where I'm like, man, lunch kind of took all our energy out. I'd be interested in skipping lunch and just kind of continuing to power through.
1:30:03PFT Commenter:Yeah. You know, it took our energy out, again, because we ate every single meal, every two hours.
1:30:07Big Cat:I also had nothing to do that day. I was just there. So I was just eating. I was just there to eat. That's nice. Yeah, it was nice. i always i did feel like the moment i like really matured i was like oh i'm like i've gotten used to being on set was when i actually was like i can stop myself from just going and splurging on every they'd like be like hey we have a snack and i was like i'm okay yeah i was like wow that was huge of me i just passed on the snack yeah i got a headline grab question for you oh i like this What's the percentage of people in Hollywood that are on the shot? On the shot?
1:30:44Big Cat:Yeah, taking the stomach. Like Ozempic? Yeah. I don't know. I mean, it seems like everyone's on Ozempic right now. Everyone seems like weirdly skinny now. Even the skinny people get super skinny. Everyone looks vacuum sealed. Yes. It makes people look vacuum sealed. They've lost their strength.
1:31:00PFT Commenter:Do you want to come out right now and say you have not taken Ozempic? I can confirm I have not taken Ozempic. I don't plan on taking Ozempic. It seems like one of those things where it's like side effects TBD.
1:31:10Big Cat:Yeah, we'll see. It's fine. Don't worry about that. Yeah, that's not real. As of now, it's okay, but... No, no, no. No, no. Listen, Jimmy, what's great about Ozempic is that for like 100 years, we've been trying different substances to get us to lose weight. And every single time, there's a massive side effect that is terrible for your health. But this time, we found it. Yeah, this is the one. So this is good. Everybody's on it. and now we're just going to be skinny from now on. It is also a little ironic, like the body positive people that are now on Ozempic. The second they get it. Yeah, you're like, well, I thought you...
1:31:48Oh, here's a shortcut. They just took Rainbow Road. I thought you liked the whole...
1:31:53Big Cat:And listen, if you have to lose weight, it's definitely a great drug, I think, for a lot of people. For sure. I've seen so many people in Hollywood that are perfectly fine. They were already in good shape and then you start taking Ozempic. It's like, yeah, that's where it gets iffy. I get it if you're like, if you're big and you want to lose weight. But if you're already in okay shape and you're taking it, you just look vacuum sealed. Yeah. Also, I'd be afraid if, like if you're a comedy actor like you, a lot of times comedy actors, they get less funny if they get skinny. It's like, and I'm not saying that you have extra weight, but there are a lot of examples of people that were bigger than they got skinny.
1:32:33Big Cat:And it's like, kind of not as funny anymore.
1:32:36PFT Commenter:yeah you gotta stay you gotta stay big to be funny are you gonna tough one are you gonna uh
1:32:40Big Cat:make a uh turn in your career and start doing super serious movies soon oh yeah when does that come because you i feel like five years from now you'll be just like give me that fucking
1:32:49PFT Commenter:single camera shot i want that yeah yeah i'm gonna be coming back on here and like in like a three-piece suit and like just being so self-serious real artistic calling and saying it's not a movie it's a film film yeah it's a film are you do you have do you have goals to do that I plan on doing that in the next two to three years the hope was to be there by now well no you got the I think you're going the right path yeah to eventually be super self serious yeah I'm working on it man I want one where you're like crying maybe like divorcing punching your fist through a wall something like that
1:33:23Big Cat:or at least a French adaptation yeah French subtitles to an American boot anything to work the French hours
1:33:32PFT Commenter:I love that how we just I just saw the invite Which is out I think it just came out like two weeks ago The Seth Rogen one Olivia Wilde But I was looking up after I'm pretty sure it was like a film in Spain And then we just took it We just take every movie and it's awesome And we just make it our own It's disappointing to find that out It's like that existed and then we're just like nah Now it really exists That's when I found out the office already existed You know it already existed I was like, no, no. It couldn't have already existed. It's so good.
1:34:04Big Cat:It's a really good movie. You know what would be better? If we had people that were already famous that we put in there, and then we had them do all the jobs that the not famous people did. Right. Speaking of this, Moana just came out, the live-action Moana.
1:34:18PFT Commenter:Yeah. I haven't seen it yet with my kids. I haven't seen it yet either. Moana 2. Didn't Moana 2 just come out like a year ago? It came out, I want to say a year and a half. It came out like Thanksgiving, not last year, the year before. Impressive. Well, I mean, I have three kids. Moana's a big deal in our house. So did your kids also feel that the live action remake was maybe like 15 years too early? So we haven't taken them yet. I think they're probably just going to be like, this is cool. It's just another Moana. Yeah. So it's pretty surface level stuff. Yeah. Like Minions was, we were hyped for Minions.
1:34:56PFT Commenter:You should get into Minions. I love Minions. They're the best. They're the funniest. I fucking love, also, my fiance was in the new Minions movie, and when she told me that she was - Oh, she was? She, like, told, she, like, she knew how excited I was going to be. She, like, damn near sat me down to be like, I have big news for you. Wait, what does she play? She plays the woman that falls in love with the robot. Okay, Dort. Dort's the robot. Yeah, yeah, yeah. She's the woman that falls in love with Dort, the, like, the, like, women's rights girl. Oh, yeah, yeah. but yeah she told me that and I was like I was like are you fucking you're gonna be in the new Minions movie did you ask her and this is maybe getting too deep but the new Minions movie is it like takes place like over a course of years like 1920s then it's like 1930s 40s did you ask her like the Minions what their whole thing is is they always find like the baddest dude in the world and then they serve him uh-huh the h-man oh my god well i mean it's a similar time frame like you'd think the minions the h-man the minions right up his alley i'm imagining just like uh deleted scenes in the new movie where you're like the studio's like hey we gotta lose the yeah we gotta lose the minions in germany yeah we gotta lose all that why did we flash forward from 1933 to 1946 what happened there where were the minions i i love when people go
1:36:28Big Cat:back and they're like now did friends exist in the 9-11 cinematic universe or i guess it'd be the other way did 9-11 happen in friends and then in one episode somebody finds a guy that's wearing like a tsa patch or something they're like yep so 9-11 did happen yeah yeah i love people all these clues going back and and looking all that stuff are you still doing um writing as much as you used to yeah so i mean that's like those are that's kind of included in those like seven uh projects in development that i was speaking of but i have uh yeah there's like i have a show in development that's like kind of like a snowboarding it's like kind of like uh it's just like a a comedy about four best friends that live on a snowboard mountain that gets bought by like an icon pass type of a company and their mountains about to start getting like gentrified but it's just like a half hour comedy that we sold um to hbo and we're just kind of like waiting on a final final word how much stuff have you sold that just nobody ever does anything with like three shows that like didn't go anywhere and then like a couple movies that we were like maybe three movies that just kind of never never happened it's gonna be so frustrating because like they pay you money so in theory they like it and they want to make it how does it work like from a economic standpoint for for the studios to be just like buying stuff and they're like fuck it we bought it but i just kind of want to hang on to it not like they're just they're just mitigating risk you know they're just like making it go every step of the way it goes through like an approval process which to be honest is kind of like one of the tough things about tv right now is like it takes so long to get anything on the air i thought about doing youtube that's a good idea yeah i feel like that's you should look into that that dude that's actually youtube.com damn yeah check it out um but like yeah it takes so long to get anything out now that like by the time a lot of stuff comes out you can tell that it's like an idea that maybe that person came up with like five years ago right they're just trying to like make it more current because it just takes so long to get things out by the time they get them out it's like it's not even that relevant anymore do some studios like buy stuff because they just because they don't want a competitor to have it yeah i've heard about how it's like buy it and then kill it yeah which would be that'd be like beyond devastating yeah yeah that would suck yeah your idea is so good that people will buy it and then just never make it because they don't like if they're like we have something similar and then they don't want yours to come out yeah it's not like super common though i i've i've like maybe heard about like a rumor about that but i haven't experienced it myself so when you're writing are you writing because you have like somebody in mind or a production company in mind that you are i guess a studio that is going to purchase it or do you just go to them with an outline you say hey i'm thinking about doing this do you want to work on this like how how much of a completed project do you have to have before you start selling it well like with a show you you basically have you come up with the characters you come up with what the first episode is you come up with what the first season would be like kind of a broad strokes of the full season and you put together like a pitch deck with photos and you kind of and that's what you bring into like hbo amazon netflix hulu and just kind of pitch that um with with movies it's a little bit different like you could just write a script and then try to sell the script.
1:40:02Or there's like an existing idea that a studio may have and hire you to write if you're like an established writer. Or you could sell them on an idea and then get paid to write it. But it all kind of, there's a million different ways to go about it.
1:40:21PFT Commenter:So some of these things that you have coming down the pipe, which one are you going to have like a different podcast star in? because I'm still not over it. You guys are actually in a script I wrote. No way. I don't believe it. You literally did Real Bros, which we love Real Bros. You did the movie, and we're like, oh, man, if there's any way. And then there's a scene with, was it multiple podcasts? I think it was multiple podcasts. No, it was just, it was, look, I'm sorry, all right? I'm sorry.
1:40:52Big Cat:Who was in it? Who were the podcasters? I want you to go through one by one. Was it Trevor Wallace? It was Trevor Wallace. Yeah, which they're hilarious. But still, you think. It was like a little clip.
1:41:03PFT Commenter:We're great at little clips. Yeah. That's all we do. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. The next one, we'll make it happen. We'll make it happen.
1:41:11Big Cat:I don't believe you. I don't believe you. Look, it was 128 pages. We shot it in 11 days. It was really hectic. There was a lot going on. And I'm sorry, okay? Do you have a passion project? Like one that you've been thinking about doing your whole life and haven't gotten around to? Yeah, there's an idea. I started writing like 10 years ago that is starting to feel like we may have a financier, but I don't want to get, I don't like to get too excited about anything until it's like 100 % official.
1:41:46PFT Commenter:That's got to be one of the hardest parts of like your life is like, if I get a little bit of good news, I'm like, damn, this is awesome. like i remember when we when we got we i think it was like nine months it took from the moment that that we were going to do a show with espn to when it actually happened we were like this is all and it was so far away yeah and like obviously it ended up blowing up everyone knows that story but we're like yep we did it we're fucking we're the we're the best yeah it's it's that is one of the hardest things because you i've almost like stopped myself i like i almost have not allowed myself to get excited because i'm so scared of being disappointed down the line yeah we're like you get good news and then it can so quickly just be like ripped away yeah so i like would stop myself from even getting excited about things and then what was crazy is by the time it ended up happening i like never even got excited yeah because i was like well it's a yes but we haven't shot it yet and then we'd start shooting and i'm like well but it's we shot it but it hasn't come out and then it came out and it's like by the time it comes out you're just like i did it yeah and there's relief but there's there was never excitement so i've been trying to find the right balance of like allowing myself to be excited and then like allowing myself to be
1:42:58Big Cat:disappointed yeah i remember back in in 2018 or 2019 erica our old ceo she came up to us and she He goes, great news, guys. Netflix wants to do Boner Dogs. And we're like, oh, fuck, that's awesome. They actually want to make this animated thing. Jimmy was going to be the voice of the Boner, maybe. Yeah. We had a great list of celebrities lined up to be different parts in it. So Eric was like, we're going to do Boner Dogs. They greenlit it. We're like, awesome. Then just never heard any update after that. But I realized that the best part of making a TV show is the moment that somebody tells you they're going to do the TV show.
1:43:35PFT Commenter:Yeah, because we didn't have to do any of the work. Yeah, we did nothing. The hard part was coming.
1:43:41Big Cat:We got the juice. We successfully got a TV show greenlit and put in all that work and then never had to do we never had to lift a single finger after. So what happened with it if they said yes? Who knows? It was just a yes. They were just words. I think lawyers started to talk. Last I heard she got on a phone call with like 10 lawyers and then I didn't hear an update after that phone call.
1:44:04PFT Commenter:I mean, from everything you've explained to us, we thought we had done it. We were mile one of a marathon. Not even.
1:44:14Big Cat:We were first 100 yards of a marathon. But we still got to slap the 26.2 sticker on our car.
1:44:20PFT Commenter:We stretched. We got out there, and then we just immediately blew a hammy as we were 100 yards down the road.
1:44:28Big Cat:We should ride a gorilla into Boater Dogs. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Well, you know, didn't you have Zac Efron loosely attached to the dogs?
1:44:35PFT Commenter:We had a lot of celebrities. We had a lot of celebrities that we said we presented it to and they were like, yeah, I guess. So we didn't really have anyone except you really. I think we briefly discussed it on the movie that we just did. And I think I brought it up to him and I think he remembered.
1:44:53Big Cat:Okay. So Zac is still attached to it. I think you can write him down. He's still loosely. Fuck yeah. Okay. That's so huge. I got that on there. Yeah. It was, we pitched it to Adam Sandler and he said yes. Right. And so that's what happened. So we interviewed KG and Adam Sandler when they were doing the uncut gyms thing. Yeah. And so we pitched it to KG in front of Adam, just knowing that Adam would hear about it. And so Adam was like, yeah, yeah, it sounds fun. Let's do it. And then we thought that was all like, we're just a couple of guys talking on a podcast. Two weeks later, our CEO is talking to Happy Madison about getting it done.
1:45:25Big Cat:They say yes. Netflix says yes. And then never heard from it again. He just got lost. It's the best TV show that was never made. It just got lost in probably business affairs hell. Yeah. Every time it goes to business affairs, you know they're going to be on vacation. They're like, oh, it's going to business affairs. I'm like, here comes the email. They're on vacation for three weeks. Every time I go to a pool on vacation, I look around. I'm like, look at all these business affairs people enjoying their vacation. They've all got their out-of-office replies set up. It's just a series of emails talking to each other via out of office auto replies.
1:46:00Also, the auto reply when you're out of office for like one day. It's like, dude, just be.
1:46:06PFT Commenter:And also, you have your phone on you. You have your phone. You saw the email. And then you would still respond. Yeah, right. But I just got this out of office for like 24 hours email. It's like unnecessary. Yeah. Just respond when you're back.
1:46:19Big Cat:You just took a Friday. It's not that serious. I'm going to take a shit and then put my out of office reply. PFT commenters out of office for the next 15 minutes. We're taking a shit. We're like an ice cream shop.
1:46:31PFT Commenter:We're out for 15 minutes. We'll be open back soon. Be back soon. Treating it like it's gone from lunch. Exactly. Exactly. All right. So everyone go watch Hawk on Netflix. Jimmy's the best. He's also on the book, which we just told you. You're on the cover of the book. I'm honored. I didn't realize I was on the cover. You can't tell the history of part without Jimmy Tatro. Back jacket. Yeah, back jacket. Yeah. No, but back jacket has, let's see. It's good. Aaron Rodgers, Baker Mayfield, Jane Daniels, Caleb Williams, Adam Morrison, Alex Caruso. You love Caruso. Love Caruso. Greg Olson, foul ball guy.
1:47:06Wow.
1:47:06PFT Commenter:A lot of people. But you were our first entry into, I would say, Hollywood in a natural way where it wasn't like a one-off press junket. It was like, no, he just wants to come on. You guys were hanging in Venice or something. Yeah, we had a house.
1:47:20Big Cat:Yeah. I do have a question for you about Hollywood. and because we know some people but we're definitely you know we don't spend any time in california at all so we don't know the conversations people have there what is the um what's the word around california and hollywood about about jerry o 'connell like what's the rep with jerry what do you guys the famous actors say about him when he's not around i i haven't uh i haven't heard too many he hasn't been i haven't heard too many conversations okay about him good Interesting. That could be good. I hear most about him from you guys.
1:47:53PFT Commenter:Yeah. Tubi's a growth engine. I don't know if you knew that. Tubi's a what? A growth engine. He taught us that. Is he on Tubi? Yeah. He's got a Summer's Last Resort. Yeah, that's right. I will say Tubi has some, they have some good movies. It's a growth engine. I'll search a movie and it'll be like, you can watch this for free on Tubi. And it'll be like The Godfather or something. Yeah. They got some classics. That's how you growth engine. Yeah. That's growth engine 101. Yeah. All right, Roback question. RHOBACK.com. Promo code TAKE. 20 % off for first purchase. Q-Zips, polos, hoodies, joggers, shorts.
1:48:24PFT Commenter:Roback.com. Promo code TAKE. Zach, you ready? Zach does our last questions now. Okay. You met Zach briefly right before. You got a little bit of a compliment off. We told you to back the fuck down. Yeah, I was just saying I saw his Mountain Dew ad, and I thought that was cool. Yeah, and then he just started complimenting the fuck out of you. You were in the torture chamber.
1:48:43Big Cat:Go ahead, Zach. What's going on, man? I have a quick question. so we hear a lot from athletes about going back and watching tape so i was kind of wondering do you ever get in the lab and maybe go back to older skits and movies to see how your games developed and if so is there one that sticks out amongst all the rest wow good question that is a good question um i would say every now and then like if i'm reminded of like a video from the past or if like if I have an idea that's kind of similar to maybe like an old video or something I'll like watch a couple similar videos to kind of get into the the headspace I was in when I when I like wrote those videos or because I think like with with the YouTube videos I feel like every single one of them they're just on YouTube I could always take those ideas and repurpose them into like something in a movie or something in a show so every now and then I'll go back and I'll be like oh that'd be a like a line of dialogue that like you know maybe we said 10 years ago that would be that could be funny in this thing i'd say that would be the context or like if someone is like asking about you know like a video that i don't really know the context but like if someone's like asking about something i'll like find myself going down a rabbit hole of like trying to find something to show them like if i had to put together like if they're like hey what do you one on your reel you go back i that was a moment where i went back and watched some of them and you know i'm not gonna lie i'll laugh yeah i'll laugh at some of my old videos yeah nothing wrong
1:50:18PFT Commenter:with that yeah you got to i absolutely see like the people will tweet me like shit from like 10 years ago like oh that was pretty funny it's usually just funny yeah i went on twitter one time when i i was like i just like went on like a twitter scrub to be like man i wonder if i said anything that was like bad that i should like delete and all i realized was that like i was on a fucking tear back in like 2017 yeah i'm like damn you were you were funny on twitter back yeah what do you got i was going through i was like damn you were really just letting them rip
1:50:48Big Cat:on twitter yeah and now i just you turned your back on the internet well twitter started to feel like i would like tweet funny shit and then like a week later i'd see someone make that as a video and I was like oh wait I'm just giving these videos out
1:51:04PFT Commenter:you're just in a writer's room for everyone else yeah but then that's kind of the internet now there's no people don't even give a shit who came up with anything it's all like trends you just do and what is a trend you're just doing exactly what everyone else did and that's kind of how you blow up on the internet right now you just do the same video as everyone else
1:51:26Big Cat:you just call it a challenge I'm doing the milk crate challenge everything's challenges the milk crate challenge did wrong you just stack up a bunch of milk crates and then you try to walk over people were getting really hurt people got fucked up that was bad the golf cart challenge that was awesome too
1:51:46PFT Commenter:you just run your friend over with a golf cart they're just hitting each other with golf carts it was awesome we had to toe the line of being like hey we don't condone this because we don't want to have more people do it. But yeah, if you're asking me, am I laughing every time I see one? Of course I am. Yeah, that milk crate one. I mean, there was always that moment where you're like, oh, hey. Yeah. Oh, shit. Hopefully they can do a full tuck and roll here. Otherwise, the completion percentage on that had to be like below 10. Oh, it was. Yeah, it was like, I don't think I ever saw somebody. Anybody did it.
1:52:19PFT Commenter:They have to be like a Hollywood stuntman. Yeah. Greatest person ever. All right. Well, Jimmy, always great to have you. Bye, man. You're the best. Always a pleasure. Go watch Hawk, and we can't wait for this gorilla. Yeah. Yeah.
1:52:35Big Cat:Jimmy Tatro is brought to you by Mountain Dew. Summer's coming. I can't wait to get back to Camp Barstool. I can't wait to get outside playing games with the boys, and nothing goes better with hanging outdoors in the summertime than the refreshing citrus kick of Mountain Dew. It was proudly born in the foothills of Tennessee. Mountain Dew, it's American. and enjoy the refreshing citrus kick of Mountain Dew. It is an American original. Grab a Dew, tasting great since 48. And Jimmy was also brought to you by Shell, our good friends over at Shell. They've got a great deal. Their Fuel Rewards program is the best.
1:53:10Big Cat:I'm going to be honest. I don't usually get excited about any loyalty programs. They promise big rewards, and then it's like you actually have to eat 48 pizzas to get one for free. So when I heard about the Shell Fuel Rewards program, I was skeptical. Shocking. I know. Skeptical. But here's the thing. It kind of is annoyingly practical. You're already getting gas. You're already grabbing takeout. You're already buying snacks that you definitely didn't need, but absolutely deserve. With Shell Fuel Rewards, you just get rewarded for that. And not in a fake points you'll never use way. It's actual savings on gas.
1:53:39Big Cat:And the part that got me, the savings stack. So it's not like one sad little discount. It's you fill up, you eat, you shop. It all piles up into real savings at the pump. Joining takes less than three minutes in the Shell app, and you'll save on every fill after that. Literally every single one. So if you want my recommendation, join the Shell Fuel Rewards program, and you can save. And now, here's Ryan Fox.
1:54:01PFT Commenter:Okay, we now welcome on a very, very special guest. It is the Champion Golfer of the Year, Ryan Fox, fresh off his win at the fourth major, Birkdale this weekend. First of all, can I call you Foxy because it's a great nickname? Okay. Yes, it is. Ryan feels far too proper. Yeah. All right, good. So, Foxy, incredible performance. The fact that you came from all the way back after the first two days and win it on Sunday, no playoff. Have you had a second to sit down and be like, oh, my God, I actually did this? because it feels like a total whirlwind that happened and how quickly you did it. Have you had that moment of realization like, oh, man, this is what I did.
1:54:48PFT Commenter:I'm forever on the Claret Jug. Yes and no. Like, it's definitely popped into my head a bunch. Like, I was texting my mate. I woke up at 5.30 this morning, like, buzzing, just thinking what the hell has just happened. Like, I've just won the Open Championship. Like, it's like texting my mates at home going, like, what the hell is going on? Like I'm still in that mode at the moment. You know, I've obviously got the player at Chug behind me, so it did happen. So like, yeah, it's going to take a while to sink in, especially the way it happened. Like to, you know, obviously I was so far back going into Saturday and then go and shoot a major championship record, get myself in the last group on Sunday.
1:55:30And then I've never been in that situation like that before, not anywhere near the point end of the major, and then go out and do that and play how I did down the last six holes, you know, birdie the last to win. Like, it's crazy. Like, I tried to put myself in that situation before at the start of the week, and I'm like, there's no way I'm dealing with that. I've almost not tried to go back there now. I'm like, I'm not sure how it happened, but I actually felt all right during the whole process of it.
1:55:56PFT Commenter:Yeah, so that was actually a follow-up I had was, like, was it actually an asset to you on Sunday that you had never finished top 10 in a major before where it's like you're almost you don't know the pressure you're supposed to feel because you just never have felt it where it's like i'm just gonna go keep playing my golf game i'm not even gonna think about this um i definitely thought about it i don't think it was that i think it was more like i have this might be my only chance like i might not be in this situation ever again i don't know how i'm gonna deal with it but like i'm gonna give it a crack I'll see what happens.
1:56:29That's awesome. Like I said to my caddy, like six holes in, I was like, I feel better than I thought I'd be in this situation. Like I'm, I didn't, not that I started great, but I had enough good shots to kind of calm the nerves a little bit. I had a couple of solid long putts. I'd hold a couple of parts as well. It was like, oh, okay. Like this is, I'm still nervous. I'm, I've still got the heebie jeebies, but I'm like, I can still commit to a shot and hit it. And it's still going kind of where I'm aiming. and then yeah like as we got further along the round i actually started to feel for the most part more comfortable pretty much until the putt on 18 like the part on 18 i was everywhere nowhere at the same time like i've i've got no idea how i hit that thing straight but um i yeah i actually felt pretty good and yeah like i just took the theory i'm going to try to win this golf tournament and if it doesn't happen well you know whatever but i'm sitting on the right side of it now yeah
1:57:26Big Cat:You've said that you couldn't feel your hands when you stepped up to hit that putt on 18. What was it like to walk down 18 when you're walking up onto the green? Were you thinking about the putt you're about to hit? Were you taking it in? What was that like? That was the first time I kind of let me get out of my bubble. I'd tried really hard those last five or six holes. There was a lot of people out there. I could hear Go Foxy or Foxy Lad. They seemed to like that call a lot in Birkdale. like I tried to almost ignore as much of it as I could like just a lot of deep breathing in between holes like just focus on what I can control and don't let the rest of it get to me but walking down 18 was the first time like I actually acknowledged what acknowledged what was going on outside of this little bubble I had like this is this was unbelievable walking on 18 with that that crowd it felt like they were all behind me um and then you know like i obviously knew at that point i had a putt to win the open and i almost lost it like i walked behind the hole to read the putt and almost lost it at that point like i was like this part is to win the open like how am i even going to hit this and then i had to kind of like just take myself out of that and just be like okay take a couple of deep breaths it's just pick your line and hit it and i just got over the over with the ball going, just get the speed right.
1:58:52Like I don't want a three-and-a-half-footer coming back and getting a playoff or do anything stupid there. Like just try to get it online, try to get it at a good speed. And, you know, lucky enough for it to go in. And then that whole experience after that, like the crowd roaring, I roared as loud as I've ever roared, and I didn't even hear myself. It was that loud there. It was crazy, like something I will never forget.
1:59:13Big Cat:Yeah, the last six holes that you played, I think I heard you say that you've never played golf that good in your entire life. you were in the zone for that entire time is that a fair description of it like you've never strung together six holes like that yeah i would say like saturday's round was probably the best one of the best rounds i've put together like i didn't miss a shot basically on saturday but you go out there on sunday you know i was a couple back with probably three back almost with six holes to play and i hit every shot like pretty much where i wanted to like a couple of bad breaks on the one on 15 was was pretty nasty um but you know i kind of didn't feel like i had a bad shot there i just if i was a yard further it was on the green and i had i had a birdie part and links golf can do that to you pretty quickly and um that was one of the best bogeys i've made but yeah like this the second shot i hit into 16 was perfect i thought t shot i hit down 17 was perfect until it rolled into the bunker and then you know i'm not going to play a better hole in my life probably than I played on 18.
2:00:12Like I hit three perfect shots down there. Um, I said to my caddy on the tee there, like, yeah, I'm going to be aggressive here. I'm going to take this on and I'll live with the consequences if I don't pull it off. And, um, you know, it obviously worked, worked out the right way for me there.
2:00:26PFT Commenter:Yeah. Yeah. The 18, I loved it. I love that moment. Cause it was like, you know, a lot of guys, they might not, they might play it safe. Like, Hey, don't lose this. You're like, no, I'm going to go try to win this right here in regulation and not go to, you know, extra holes and everything. So when you get up to that putt, I love your pace of play. I know it's been a lot of conversation. It's, like, awesome to watch because that's how golf should be played. I agree. Yeah. But on 18, did you – I mean, I guess that wouldn't be the moment to take a little bit extra, but it was remarkable to watch how fast you got up there and hit that putt.
2:01:01Yeah, look, I mean, obviously, I think the thing you don't really see is, like, when Sam's looking at his putt, I'm looking at mine. Like I've done all my work on reading the putt basically before it's my turn. Like I've done it while Sam's getting ready and then obviously get out of the way of him putting. And then when it's my turn, like I'm ready to go. Like I don't see the point in taking any longer than what I normally would in that scenario. Like in terms of the putt, like it wasn't a difficult putt. Like it was what, 12 foot. it was overall pretty straight like it kind of went a little left early and kind of tried to go back the other way at the end it obviously just hung on the left edge the biggest thing for me was actually trying to execute and trying to just get myself in control of my emotions and everything else because I as I said I was like everywhere nowhere like shaking I had a few thoughts going through my head and I was just like take a deep breath get the speed right try to hit it online and see what happens and like three foot out I was like this has got a chance to go in and it obviously crept in that left edge and the rest is history, basically.
2:02:08Big Cat:Yeah, as Big Cat was saying, you've never been this close to a major championship before, but you obviously did things to prepare yourself mentally for the moment should it ever arise, right? So looking back over the last few years of your life, you did do some mental training to get to this point and then you just fell back on that or did it match up in your head with what you had prepared for? Yeah, look, I've... Thank you. And you prepare for it a little bit. You say, oh, I'm on the practice green. This putt is to win a major. It's not the same as actually having the putt to win the major. You can't replicate that.
2:02:42But it's more the work on routines and you do the idea of breathing. There was a lot of deep breathing for me those last couple of holes. And like, it sounds all cliche and it sounds kind of silly, but it actually works. Like if you take a deep breath, you just kind of relax. And that was the only thing that, well, I could control that. You got to do what you can control. And that's the kind of stuff you work on, you know, not in that situation so that hopefully when you're in that situation, you can pull it off. And I've won a few times around the world now. Like I've won a couple of big events in Europe.
2:03:22Obviously Canadian Open last year was a big event. Like I've been in similar situations, so you can draw from those as well. But Sunday especially was something that I'd never experienced. I didn't know how I was going to go going in there. Like, as I said, I'd gone through everything in my head. Like the night before, I was thinking, damn, I could have a Claret jug tomorrow. I could shoot 82 and finish 50th. And I'd still enjoy the experience of being in the last group of an Open. Like that would still be pretty cool. But, you know, now I can say I've been in the last group of an Open and I'm an Open champion.
2:03:57Like, that's still pretty surreal, to be honest.
2:04:01Big Cat:And then after you make the putt, what's the process like right after you become champion goal for the year? How soon afterwards do you get the first cocktail? How quickly do we get to the celebration? Honestly, in timing, I don't know. Like, I got – obviously, you've got to go sign your card. So, that's pretty important. You don't want to stuff that up. I was in a little holding room for a while. I got to speak to my family. Then you've got the whole presentation at the end, which, and you've got all the photos and stuff. So that takes a long time. And then I had like a presentation in the players lounge with the RNA afterwards.
2:04:36So that's when I had my first drink and I got to pour some red wine in the claret jug and have a little drink out of it. And then I didn't realize that we still had to go take more photos with the claret jug. So they tipped all the wine out. um so i was walking around with that i ended up you know in the burkdale clubhouse um yeah like it was almost dark by the time i ended up back upstairs in the in the players lounge um with all my my team some friends and and yeah a lot of other people i know really well up there so like it was it was a pretty long process from finish to actually getting to celebrate and then you know we we sat up there had some pizzas um there was plenty of wine beers like i'm i'm a wine man so you know the wine went straight into the uh the claret jar and i'm drinking out of it and getting to take some photos a few videos i had to sign like 300 flags straight away like got a little bit of writer's cramp going on i was like all i want to do is just have a drink and enjoy this but like that's all part of the process and then we got lost last rights in there basically like if you guys don't leave now you're not getting a lift home so again i don't know idea what time that was um it was definitely dark so that's pretty late in the uk that time of year and then we had a few people come back to our house in Birkdale.
2:05:47There was plenty of wine, plenty of videos that will not make the light of day. A few people very worse for wear. I didn't go to sleep. I was getting picked up at 4.15 to get on a flight to London and then back to Miami to see the family. So I made a call very early on like I'm not going to sleep. I'm not going to be able to go to sleep anyway even if I try. So I might as well just push through. So, yeah, I pushed through. um it was a pretty i was a pretty sorry side of the airport to be honest at 5 30 when we arrived but i mean that's uh like that's the really cool stuff like obviously yeah doing like down the stretch and that's the i can take a lot of pride in that but like the stuff that's really fun is the after and getting to share it with with people that mean a lot to you and i'm going to get to do
2:06:34PFT Commenter:a little bit of that yeah and going forward now so i had a question about uh when you get when you get into you win and then you get into a room where you can facetime your family i i was talking about a monday show it was a very i i have three kids and i thought it was very funny humbling moment that your daughter was just like when are you going to be home like what like we don't care that you just won this you should have reversed it on her and been like you didn't believe in me why weren't you here yeah well they they did say to me on on saturday like dad can you bring us home a trophy and i'm like at that point on my eye yeah i'll try and then they got really excited when they found out i had two coming home because i've got the replica and the real one yep um so i've got two girls and like yep we've got one each so they're like we want a trophy yeah yeah so i get home and i get you know i get all the big hugs and well done and i draw me a couple of pictures which was cool and they they wanted to see the trophies and they get to hold it and then five minutes later they want to turn rio the movie on on the tv so they can watch that like it's so fleeting yeah yeah this morning i dropped them they're at a little dance school in florida and it's like you know they just want me to drop it drop them to dance school like it doesn't matter like it's cool although my my oldest is five and a half she's joking like where's the wine dad is there any wine in the trophy yeah so she obviously knows what's going on it's so perfect but it's a good moment where you're like yeah i just had the the best achievement of my professional career and your kid just like are you gonna be home soon or what like what the hell's going on it goes it actually goes the other way too like if you have an awful day yeah i don't care either again if i go out and shoot 80 yes on sunday and i finish nowhere and i feel absolutely awful about myself they don't care like and that makes you feel better so it does go it does go both ways that's good perspective it would be very funny if you're five and a half year old be like dad you're striking the ball like shit like you're a bum it'll happen at some point like they'll get old enough to actually understand it but now it's just pure innocence thankfully yeah and then and then
2:08:40Big Cat:flying home with the trophies i didn't realize that you had two of them when you're flying home so did you you check both of them and then they or did they go in the overhead they went in the overhead um i wasn't brave enough to check them to be honest i like i don't want to be the person that loses the claret jug i'm pretty sure ba didn't want the pressure of being the airline that could lose the claret jug so like i just i i as soon as i went to check and i was like look i've got a couple of things here that i probably need to carry on the plane but will they fit and she's like what is it i was like well it's the claret jug she's like what's that i'm like well it's the it's the it's the open championship trophy like the british open trophy she's like oh did you win it i'm like yeah so like so yeah so okay cool like just here here's your tag take them on the plane and just talk your way on there and that's what i did basically and yeah it was pretty pretty surreal to be honest just hold up the plane trying to fit those two things in the overhead locker but it's um yeah it's makes a good story yeah we we were talking also on monday that uh representation
2:09:41PFT Commenter:matters and you became a favorite of ours because uh this the two of us have both suffered from kidney stones multiple times but here's where the difference is foxy you withdrew from a tournament correct yeah what drew from the players yeah well we still podcasted when we had kidney stones didn't miss a show wow yeah yeah so we're tough how you guys did that yeah you guys are you guys are tougher than me i was white knuckle in a hospital bed for three days you three days you did have surgery we didn't we just pissed ours out yeah ours were tiny fashion way but uh listen thank you for letting everyone know that kidney stones we can still accomplish great things even though we probably have poor diets i am i am very impressed with that like i was i could not function like i was lying on the floor telling my wife to kill me yeah multiple times yeah yeah she probably she probably thought about it too at one stage i was in the exact same spot and then my kids were like hey do you why do you have rocks in your belly they just kept on asking me why i have rocks in my belly i'm like because i eat chicken wings and ice cream all day what do you want me to say
2:10:42Big Cat:like what am i doing it's a terrible experience and the nurse told me um and i'm curious if you if you've ever heard this that it's a worse pain than giving childbirth and i said i i said i would never from a nurse too yeah i said i will uh i appreciate you telling me that that's probably something that i'm never going to tell a woman uh to their face but i i appreciate you letting me know that I'm tough. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I was, I was asking for every painkiller they could give me. It's brutal. Yeah. Awful. And like, I, I thought I'd passed it on like a Tuesday night and then it came back on a Wednesday and I went to the hospital twice, like Wednesday afternoon.
2:11:18And then they sent me out and then back on Thursday morning. And when I came back Thursday morning, they're like, yeah, you're not going to pay this out. We're going to have to shove something up there and blast it out. And at that point I like, that seems awful. Like when you think about it now but in the moment i was like i don't care what you shove up there just get it out like it's nothing is as bad as what i'm feeling right now yeah you had a buried lie it was a fried
2:11:40Big Cat:egg in there are you are you going back to uh new zealand i know that you're in you're in miami right now you're in the states but are you going to new zealand are you bringing the jug with you yeah i think that is our plan we're still trying to figure it out but i'm going to take three weeks off now and it would be really nice to get back there while it's all fresh and share it with my mum and dad, sister, in-laws, everything are back in New Zealand. All my best mates, I've played golf with a bunch of guys for getting on almost 30 years now back in New Zealand. To share this with them, to go back and have a bit of a party, drink some red wine out of the Clarke Jaguar, I feel like it's kind of the right time to do that.
2:12:19So yeah, we're going to try to do it and try to figure it out. So obviously, it's been a pretty busy last 36, 48 hours or so. So, yeah, it'll be nice to try to get back home to New Zealand. And I don't say chill out, but at least just kind of experience what this is. Like, it's pretty crazy, to be honest.
2:12:38PFT Commenter:Now, when you get back, so your dad is a famous rugby player, you know, incredible rugby player, incredible career. Will there be a moment where it's like – because I would assume he probably wanted you to play rugby and you decided golf. Would there be a moment where you can be like, see, Dad, I made the right decision. I'm the champion player of the year? Not really. I never had any pressure from dad to do anything. I played rugby. I was, I was an idiot. I played the same position as him. He was a goal kicker. I used to kick goals. So all I got was direct comparisons and I was nowhere near the level he was.
2:13:09So like I decided pretty early, well, not early. I was 18 when I decided golf was kind of going to be my thing. And he was always really supportive. Give it a go. They'll like, if you're going to do golf, we just want you to get a degree. So you've got something to fall back on. So technically I've got a psychology degree from Auckland university, an arts degree in psychology from Auckland university. which is no idea what that's ever done for me. But that was the one deal about playing golf. And yeah, dad used to caddy for me a lot. So they're all really like, there was never any pressure to do it, but it's pretty cool to say like on the third generation of my family to represent New Zealand and three different sports, my mom's dad played cricket for New Zealand as well.
2:13:46So there's going to be no pressure on my kids going forward at all.
2:13:48Big Cat:No, it's pretty incredible. And even though it's a completely different sport, if you're, I guess your dad was a fly half, right? And he was also, so he kicked for goal. the process of setting up for a shot and doing the same thing every time and like the mental focus that goes in every shot actually not that different like it's the same mentality that that gets you there and that probably helped out it did yeah i think i learned a lot from dad i mean none of it was from a psychology point of view it was all from an experience and this is what i did but the idea of routine and the breathing and the like like mental strength like you know you're kicking a goal to win a game.
2:14:24Like he had to do that multiple times. Like that's like standing on a last, trying to hit the fairway to have a chance to win a golf tournament. Like it's the same kind of stuff. So I had that drilled into me for want of a better term, like early on when he was catting for me, like he was really good like that. So yeah, it was, I was pretty lucky to have that kind of heritage and that kind of support growing up. So it'll be nice to take the Claret Jug home and be able to share it with them as well. So yeah.
2:14:50PFT Commenter:yeah so you mentioned you're you're starting golf you didn't really start playing until you were 18 when was your first lesson so i like i played golf i was like a two handicapper at school like 15 16 but i was just i was i was your guy that plays his local course can shoot 75 every once in a while and go you put me anywhere else and i can't break 80 and then looking back on it as a sport i probably loved the most but it took a while to figure it out like rugby and cricket were my two main sports, like probably something you guys don't really know much about over here, but they're huge at home.
2:15:23Like they're the main summer sport, the main winter sport really. And yeah, golf was just the one that I gave up rugby and cricket and said, well, I need to do something competitive while I'm at uni. Like I started a law degree and I hated that. And I was like, okay, well, I like golf. Let's try that. So I started getting some lessons, got down from two to scratch really quickly, played my first tournament. Like I played a couple of junior tournaments in my local club and stuff but my first proper tournament trying to be a golfer and i was like i love this and that was me done from there basically like that was what i wanted to do from there on in and didn't turn pro till i was 25 i think i was a rookie on the dp world tour at like 30 a rookie on the pj tour at 37 and pretty crazy to say i'm a major champion at 39 now yeah yeah i mean one of the
2:16:07Big Cat:crazy things about if you're playing on the dp world tour and especially if you're located in new zealand like all the travel that you must have had to do to be on that tour wait did you ever get a chance to take a break? Like when, when did you get your moments to relax and chill out? Cause that schedule has got to be crazy. Yeah. Like the DP World Tour was, was always busy through the middle of the year and we were based in London for a while, which was quite a lot of fun. Um, we did like eight years based in London for, for the summer and like the English summer can be really, really good. Um, and we always used to get out of there at winter and go back to New Zealand and I'd do a little bit of travel from there, but I used to have a bunch of time off over Christmas and into January.
2:16:43And that was always a really good time I'm doing back home and it's been a little bit different getting used to being based in the in the US but you know it's been a pretty good change so far and we're going to be here for a
2:16:52PFT Commenter:little while yet now which is pretty cool all right so I know you got to run in a minute so we got Hank here who's a big-time golfer and then we also have Zach so we have a couple last
2:17:00Big Cat:questions Hank go ahead yeah well I was gonna say I saw I saw a video where you said in in I think it was high school or uni I don't know what which which it was where you just got to basically set up your schedule where you had the entire afternoon off and could just go sneak sneak to the golf course across the street every day yeah so that was actually at school so i might the school high school i went to was backed onto a golf course my local my golf course i was a member at and somehow my last three periods a day twice a week were um were off and that included lunchtime so it was like 11 till 3 so the perfect time to play golf so i used to put my golf clubs in the in the trunk of the car change your clothes and you used to just walk through a couple of bushes and you're on the 18th green.
2:17:41So I used to just walk across, go play golf. And then I remember our, we used to have a house system. So I had a house master and I used to think I got away with it. Like no one knew that I went and played golf twice a week for, for six months. And he was like, I knew you did it. I just didn't care. Like there was where there was way worse things you could have been doing. You weren't harming anyone. So I just let you do it.
2:17:59PFT Commenter:I was like, Oh, fair enough. That's, that's great. Yeah. That's probably helped a lot too. I got a lot of practice without, it was just, I'd never practiced. I'd just go and play and I loved it. So, yeah, like, yeah, it was just, it was, it was fun. And that definitely would have helped in development, even though at that time I wasn't really taking golf seriously at all.
2:18:19Big Cat:Yeah. And then when you, obviously you get a lot, there's a lot of talk about how fast you play, but on the tour, is it better? Like, do you get excited when you get paired with another fast golfer? Or does that almost make it worse because you're both are going to be playing so fast and you're just going to be backed up the whole time? Or would you rather get paired with someone slow to kind of keep the pace? It's almost better getting someone slow. Sam and I actually talked about that. I've played with Sam a bit lately, and it's always come up with a conversation. Him and I pair together. He's pretty quick.
2:18:51We're going to be waiting all day. You just know it, and it's just part of it. I've just resigned myself to the fact that I'm going to wait pretty much most rounds of golf I ever play, and that's cool. As long as I can switch off in between shots, I'll just keep doing my routine, and that's what it is. I can't do anything slower, basically. I love it.
2:19:10PFT Commenter:All right, last question, Roback question, R-H-O-B-A-C-K.com. Promo code TAKE, 20 % off your first purchase, Q-Zips, polos, hoodies, joggers, shorts, Roback.com. Congratulations, Foxy. Again, it was an incredible tournament to watch. Zach, go ahead. Last question.
2:19:25Big Cat:How are you doing, Andy? Sir, I did have a quick question for you. So 14 years into your career, you go into this tournament respectfully an underdog. You get it done, you become the Open champion. Is that more of like a weight lifted off of your shoulders, getting the major win? Or is there like a pressure to now kind of go on a run and be like, well, if I'm hot, I got to go now. Where are we? Are we content? I mean, I would say content, yes. Like if you'd have given me my career right now, if you'd given me my career before last week, before I turned pro, I would have been pretty damn happy with it.
2:19:58Like a couple of PGA Tour wins, went on DQ World Tour, had a long career. Like I would have jumped at that. And now, like, yeah, like I don't know what to think. Like there's going to be, I'm going to have to sit down and kind of reassess, like, where do I go now? What do I do? But there's always going to be in the back of my head, like, I've won a major championship. Like everything else from here is gravy.
2:20:20Big Cat:Yeah. Like, obviously, I've got more stuff that I'd like to achieve. Like playing the President's Cup this year was a big goal. Should be okay for that. Like, I'm looking forward to that. Like, there's a lot of cool stuff to look forward to. There's also going to be a whole lot more pressure on because there's going to be way more eyes on now than there ever has been. a lot more marquee groups and stuff. So there's, I'm going to have to learn how to deal with all of that stuff, but yeah, like go with the flow and see what happens. Like it's, it's, it's something I always dreamed of doing. So like, if I'm not ready to deal with all the, the good and the bad consequences with that, with it happening, like it probably shouldn't have been a dream really.
2:20:56So yeah, I'm looking forward to what the next stage of my career brings.
2:21:00PFT Commenter:That's great. Do you still bench 300 pounds? I haven't done it for a little while, but yeah, I reckon you give me, give me like a month of training. I'll get pretty close to it again. Love that.
2:21:09Big Cat:That's a beast. Do you miss getting hit? Do you miss the contact of rugby? I don't miss getting hit. Cause like, even though I'm a, I would say I'm a relatively big guy for a golfer. I was a small dude for rugby player. So I was on the receiving end a lot.
2:21:22PFT Commenter:Yeah. All right. Well, Foxy, you're the best man. Congratulations again. That was so awesome. And good luck the rest of the season. Thanks guys. Thanks for having me on.
2:21:33Big Cat:Champion golfer of the year was brought to you by Chevy Summer is in full swing, and that means no schedules, no plans, just more of the good stuff. Chevy Silverado makes that possible. There's a reason Chevy's called the heartbeat of America. The Silverado keeps that heartbeat strong. These trucks work hard so you can chill harder. Whether that's getting out of town, heading to the lake, or just not turning around when you probably should, it's got the capability, the space, and the muscle, everything you need for proper summer, coolers, gear, whatever your version of chill looks like, because at the end of the day, Silverado helps you tackle more of what you love.
2:22:03Big Cat:Let's be honest. You've earned this summer. Now it's time to go get it. Roll the windows down. Turn the music up. Just listen. That's the heartbeat of America. That's today's Chevrolet. Head over to Chevy.com. Learn more. Okay, let's wrap up the show.
2:22:17PFT Commenter:What do we got? FAQs?
2:22:19Big Cat:FAQs.
2:22:20PFT Commenter:Let's go. Just the facts. Henry. Hey, EMT. Great Twisted Tea hat. Thank you. Great Twisted Tea hat.
2:22:27Big Cat:Love Twisted Tea. Keep it twisted. What has been your favorite segment to record, and what has been your favorite interview? Big new fan, Carson. also ease up on the Hank hate. Oh, wow. That was added. This sounds astroturfed. I would not add that. I don't think you guys have been that hateful recently.
2:22:47PFT Commenter:No, thank you. No, we just state facts. And sometimes... Overly hateful. I think the facts hate you right now.
2:22:53Big Cat:Yeah, you guys have been a normal amount of hateful. Yeah. Tahoe. What? Tahoe. Tahoe is pretty hateful. Well, I wouldn't say that's hateful. Actually, you could argue the opposite. Yeah, we miss our boy. You could just say that. That's how we lash out. It was loveful.
2:23:07PFT Commenter:Every time I'm not with Hank, I miss him. We lash out because we love you so much. Yeah.
2:23:12Big Cat:I miss my guy. I fucking love my... I love my bros. Love you guys too. Hank got upset that I was rolling around with a Hank doll in Tahoe. He was a little bit triggered by that. The Jalen Brown episode, you also went at him pretty hard.
2:23:25PFT Commenter:But that's just facts. That's facts. You can't say facts are going at him. Jalen Brown got traded to the Sixers. That's a fact. I've had a run of bad luck. like jalen brown bad luck the flight to tahoe bad luck live getting canceled bad luck and then on
2:23:41Big Cat:top of that pfg just a weird guy but that hank was upset because i would i had i had tony romo take a picture with a hank doll uh which i had my golf bag to do promo for the hank doll when we were on the course together but you took it out of like you went by yourself like i'm gonna go watch some of the tournament yeah and you went into into the bag took out the doll and basically You were carrying around a doll around a golf course. Sorry for it. I'm a company man. I'm a company man. It's weird. Trying to sell merchandise. I don't think that's weird, PFD. Thank you. Sorry. Smart. Entrepreneur-ish.
2:24:15Big Cat:Trying to move product. Which, by the way, product, consider it moved.
2:24:19PFT Commenter:Moved. The question, so new AWL, by the way, the part of my book will have basically everything. It might be the death of FAQs, if we're being honest, because it has the entire history of Pardon My Take and a bunch of our favorite guests write chapters. Favorite interview. Hank Dulls aren't even on sale anymore, by the way. Oh.
2:24:43Big Cat:Okay.
2:24:44PFT Commenter:You checked that? Yeah. Okay.
2:24:45Big Cat:We sold out. But why are you actively promoting them? Good job, BFT. Because you want to increase demand, Hank. That way, when we put them out, we do a limited release. They instantly sell out.
2:24:54PFT Commenter:He kind of has you there. Yeah. Why does Lollapalooza have bus signs and all this stuff when it sells out instantly? It's to let people know, like, hey, this exists and it's going to keep happening. Lollapalooza doesn't need to promo every single week.
2:25:12Big Cat:Also because it's a very funny doll. And it's a funny doll. It's a funny visual seeing Tony Romo. It's fun. Baby Hank.
2:25:19PFT Commenter:You know what? Maybe I don't. I think the problem here is that Hank doesn't understand that the face that you accidentally sent us when you were working out that you meant to send to your family. Very funny picture of you. One thousand ships. Then we put it on a doll and dogs are just destroying it. Yeah. Even funnier.
2:25:41Big Cat:Do you now understand? I get that. You got to flip this into a compliment. You got to be like, yeah, this is a good thing. I'm down with the selling of the product. I'm happy it's sold out. I'm happy the company's making money. You being like, I'm going to go take a stroll by myself and let me make sure I bring my doll with me is just weird. Both things can be true. That's fair. Fair counterpoint. I thought it would be a good opportunity. I was going out onto the golf course. There were celebrities that were golfing the program. I thought it would be a good opportunity to have somebody take a picture holding the Hank doll.
2:26:11Big Cat:And guess what? Tony Romo, have his picture taken holding the Hank doll. Very good promotion for the doll. I was right. That isn't on sale.
2:26:19PFT Commenter:But it's generating demand. But it's generating demand. Yeah. You got to remember the demand. Buy the book. Yeah, to answer the guy's question, there's a lot of really good interviews over the years.
2:26:31Big Cat:And it's like, if I were to point one out in particular, I'd be forgetting like nine others. But the answer that we usually give is like the first time that we interviewed Chris Berman was incredible. First time we... It's also a hard question that gets asked a lot that I really, in 10 years, have not had a concrete answer for.
2:26:50PFT Commenter:I usually go to the Blakes. When all else fails, just fall back on the Blakes. Bortles, Griffin, Brooks, all three being like, yeah, that was something different in its own, like all individually different that was very cool.
2:27:04Big Cat:SVP the first time in person? Yeah. Great interview. It was great. Bill Walton. hey boys i'm curious if sometimes guests ask to hear an episode before agreeing to come on and if so which episodes do you send them as good representation of the show
2:27:19PFT Commenter:no no i don't think so it's actually funny the only time sometimes we get guests ask what are the topics and i don't think anyone does less work than we do when we say uh like someone be like hey what are the topics like sports your career yeah uh the time you hit that shot and that'll be it maybe send topics and then we'll toss send them back their wikipedia page yeah
2:27:44Big Cat:if it's somebody that's like recently retired we'll be like what's new what's the next chapter for you yeah in life and then we don't ask any of them no the most generic possible examples of questions josh definitely sends yeah no josh does a really good job of sending those but yeah the uh
2:28:00PFT Commenter:no one's ever asked to listen to an episode because they can just listen they don't have to ask us someone we sent I think people do listen oh here's one Belichick when I was working with Belichick's PR guy who's awesome he asked me what should I send him and I think I sent him like Harbaugh's and Chris Berman so yeah that was kind of like hey this is in line with what we're thinking
2:28:28Big Cat:There was a time when we didn't have any podcasts out for people to listen to. So the very first Grit Week, we went on the road and we were going through Youngstown, Ohio. And we wanted to interview Jim Trestle. And what we had done is we set up an email account coming from our guest booker who didn't exist at the time. And this woman's name was Stella Leroy, which is Big Cat's dog's name and then my dog's name combined. And so we emailed Jim Trestle's office. He was the president of Youngstown State University. and then we just gave like a list of uh we want to talk to him about punts we want to talk to him about ohio state and youngstown state university we used to have to do more of that stuff back in the day than we do now and josh does a really good job and and i would also say that one of
2:29:10PFT Commenter:the benefits of being around for as long as we've been around and as established as we've been established that like i expect everyone who comes on the show to have at least some kind of understanding of it that we don't have to explain it anymore and it's really like dude if you can just come on like tony romo is another great example where it's like we didn't talk to tony before at all and we just i think someone probably talked to him and was like hey these guys bust everyone's balls they busted your balls if you can come on and fuck around with them you will it will be a good interview and so i think most people anyone who comes on who doesn't have that like baseline it's like well that that's kind of on them at this point
2:29:55Big Cat:sup bald ft oh big cunt oh mr hanky the christmas poo mean oh i'm not bald anymore maxi pad ball sack zach and memes do you ever worry that jerry's going to cross the line on air with some dark web shit or go to method with it and send hank tiffany gomas's tootsies in the mail the guy is clearly
2:30:16PFT Commenter:insane and unstable and shepter should hire extra security all the time but that's why we love him yeah he's unhinged in a great way that he's the chaotic evil or chaotic good actually he's chaotic good but it like so it keeps you on your toes yeah when we open the door for jerry to come into
2:30:34Big Cat:the house we do so knowing that there's going to be a cleanup job hopefully it won't be like a complete renovation after he leaves but we're gonna have to shampoo the carpet one of my favorite
2:30:43PFT Commenter:things that Jerry does is that he'll text me from time to time being like, is this too far? And it will be like a tweet that he's crafted. And my answer is always no, you do whatever you want. Like I'm not, you don't work for us. You can say whatever you want, but probably 99 % of the time he's already tweeted it by the time he asked me the question. So it's like, I couldn't even answer if I wanted to, but the answer is always no. So yeah, I, Jerry is like a, he's like a beautiful, uh, wild horse. Sometimes they'll come over and, you know, give us a little like nuzzle and maybe let us feed him some carrots.
2:31:15PFT Commenter:But otherwise, you got to let him run. You got to let him run. Only a few people can ride him. Yeah, because you can't. If you try to put that horse in a barn, you got problems.
2:31:25Big Cat:He's going to go out there. He's going to run the same exact route.
2:31:27PFT Commenter:Okay, Hank.
2:31:28Big Cat:And then he's going to come back. Oh, Hank. And then he's going to get some water. Then he's going to go back and run the same trail. I mean, Hank. Is that what you said about Secretariat? Oh, he's just going to go out there and run in a circle. I guess that's pretty impressive.
2:31:40PFT Commenter:Hank, the horse has been running for thousands and thousands and thousands of years. Seems like they're doing something right.
2:31:47Big Cat:No, for sure. Right. It does crack me up that Jerry goes to A-list Hollywood parties and he's hanging out. Oh, come on, Hank. He's hanging out with celebrities and he's probably acting the exact same way with them that he acts with us.
2:32:00PFT Commenter:Jerry's, yeah, he is on camera, off camera. It's the same. We do Barstool Camp. It was actually so much. I'm that's what I'm looking forward to the most is sharing a bunk bunk uh cabin with him because he's just he makes you laugh constantly yeah it's always just ridiculous he's gonna walk around in his little underwear uh half naked just coming up to us talking and he's got a great body so I
2:32:25Big Cat:would do it too if I had a body like him he's actually he always finds like a new best friend whenever he hangs out with with uh barstool sports for like prolonged periods of time yeah he discovers somebody new that he didn't know and then he becomes like obsessed with him so I'm I'm interested to see who that's going to be this year. Zach, give us the last question. Zach, give us the last question. Zach, you're ready. You prepared for this interview. Would you guys no longer be invested into a romantic partner if they showed up on a second date with a shaved head? Oh, good question. Did that happen to you?
2:32:54Big Cat:No. Just curious if that would throw you off your game.
2:32:55PFT Commenter:It sounds like that happened to you.
2:32:57Big Cat:It hasn't, but I was just trying to find one fast. Now, are they shaving because of vaguely German ideology, or is it a fashion statement? Or are they sick? First date went really well. Second date showed up. Fresh baldy. What's your game plan? What's the... Bald or shaved head? Fresh baldy. Shining. Glistening. Oil it up. Bicked. Yep. Okay, so I think... One guard. If she's beautiful... Yeah, I'd be out. I'm out. If she's beautiful with a shaved head, though... Yeah, I'm out. Think about it. If she's beautiful with a shaved head, then she's going to be absolutely gorgeous when the hair does grow back out.
2:33:28Big Cat:Out. Out. Maybe longer than one date, but one date... Yeah, if it's like a month or something... But the first date went really good. Now, is she going to keep shaving it, or is it just like, hey, this is a one-time thing? Lost a bet. Lost a bet? I'm in. Yeah, because if she's gorgeous, then... Well, no. That's just the fact that she pays her bets.
2:33:46PFT Commenter:I'm cool with that. Yeah. I like that. But it also feels like maybe there was a crime committed or something. All open to interpretation. If it was for a bet and she paid her bets, then I'd have no choice but to continue dating this woman. That's big. So when did this happen to you, Zach? Never happened. I was just trying to think of a question. That's a good question on the spot. Really good question on the spot. All right. Numbers. 70. 22. 14. 23. 0. 99. 86. 69.
2:34:25Big Cat:85.
2:34:36PFT Commenter:Here we go. Machine sounded a little slow today. Yeah, that's not a good sound. No. That's like an ice cream machine sound. Uh-oh. Here we go. Yeah, ice cream machines had a bad week.
2:34:59PFT Commenter:24. Oh. What'd you have? You had 22. I had 23. All right, one more. One more.
2:35:24PFT Commenter:Oh, oh, oh. 89. Oh, that was 69. Anyone? 89. No.
2:35:34Big Cat:Is that it? That's it. You got birthdays? I do have birthdays. What's that, Memes? Oh, Memes has definitely got one locked. Yeah, nothing. Memes has got one locked. You just started Googling. Memes has... No, I didn't. You just started Googling. I didn't Google shit. Happy birthday to Garrett Wilson and Keyshawn Johnson, Memes. How about that? Those are my guys. A couple Jets. A couple Jets. Happy birthday to... Do you guys see the new Jets jerseys? They're sick. What are they? They're just white. Yeah. You call that a livery.
2:36:00PFT Commenter:I feel like the Jets lead the league in releasing jerseys that are the same.
2:36:03Big Cat:Yes, they do. Happy birthday to Alex Trebek. It's a stripe. RIP. Happy birthday to Woody Harrelson. Happy birthday to Monica Lewinsky. Those are just Jets jerseys. Yes. There's nothing different. Love you guys. Memes, were you sitting on one? No. Okay. We're Googling. I was not Googling. You're the Googler. I'm not Googling shit. Love you guys. Thank you.
2:37:05Thank you.
2:37:35Thank you.
2:38:04Thank you.
2:38:33...
