In short
NFL free agency chaos and roster fit talk, led by the Maxx Crosby trade being rescinded by the Raiders after a Ravens physical; plus segments on World Baseball Classic, Hot Seat/Cool Throne, college basketball conference title week, and a laser tag debate.
Guests
Nate Tice (football analyst; breaks down free agency winners/losers and “best fits” with detailed roster/contract reasoning). Main hosts include Patino and A.W. (plus recurring co-hosts “Memes” and Hank).
Key claims
- The Ravens’ decision to void the Maxx Crosby trade after he failed Baltimore’s physical is described as “fishy”/possibly convenient, but also framed as consistent with Baltimore trusting doctors and nullifying deals until medical sign-off.
- Crosby’s recent meniscus surgery is cited as a likely reason he wouldn’t pass a physical, creating a ripple effect across other teams’ plans.
- Geno Smith is portrayed as a “bridge” quarterback for the Jets, with Carson Wentz as a backup.
- Free agency contract reporting is criticized as misleading (total value vs guaranteed money).
Notable examples
- Ravens trade rescinded: Raiders say deal was backed out due to physical concerns; teams potentially affected include Cowboys, Eagles, Bears, Bengals.
- World Baseball Classic: USA’s win; Bobby Witt defensive performance; Paul Skenes praised; Cal Raleigh vs Randy Arozarena “beef” discussed.
- Falcons mocked for “left-handed” roster construction (Kirk Cousins, Tua Tagovailoa, left-handed center).

Hey, football guy, Patino, A.W. Yeah. Pardon my take. Yeah.
2:35Pardon my take. Yeah. Pardon my take. Pardon my take. Yeah. Pardon my take.
2:44PFT Commenter:Welcome to Pardon My Take presented by DraftKings. The crown is yours. Today is Wednesday, March 11th, and the Baltimore Ravens have ruined free agency. So we actually recorded the full show. You're going to get two intros. The other intro was Geno Smith leading off. But late on Tuesday night, the Raiders put out that Max Crosby, the deal, has been rescinded because he potentially failed the physical in Baltimore. He was in Baltimore. more i'm calling bullshit on all this pft this is crazy you can't do this all the dominoes went for max crosby and now they got to redo everything even though nothing's going to happen yeah well nothing's going to happen but tyler linderbaum has the opportunity to do the funniest thing of all time which would be like oh the ravens you got all this room i'll go back yeah it's weird and it's not the first time that the ravens have done this one thing i learned through this ordeal is they really trust the doctors in Baltimore.
3:47So this would be like the third, maybe even fourth time that it's happened. It happened to Ryan Grant in 2018. And then two years later, Michael Brockers, same thing happened there. And then there was one back in like the late 90s, I think, or maybe early 2000s where some other thing happened. But yeah, the deal's not done until the doctors sign off. But imagine being the team doctor after the biggest deal in a long time, that the Ravens have done in a very long time. They shook hands on it. Max comes to Baltimore. You go under the exam, and then you're like, yeah, he's got a bad meniscus. And then they tell the front office that.
4:29That's got to be standing on the table and being like, this physical is so bad, we shouldn't go through this trade. Either one, they really trust the doctor to believe them on that, or two, it's bullshit and it's made up, and they're secretly planning a different move and they're using the physical as an excuse to get out of it.
4:45PFT Commenter:Trey Hendrickson. Yeah, the thing that I don't understand, and I'm not a doctor, don't pretend to be one, and maybe there's different physicals for different guys, but Max Crosby had surgery like two months ago. Of course his knee's not going to pass a physical, right? Yeah. I mean, he had a different surgery than he initially thought, but it's like everybody knew that he had the meniscus repair surgery. In January. It's a secret. It's three to four month recovery. So it's like, no duh. Maybe the Ravens just not realize he had the surgery and then he came in. Maybe it's not healing the way that they thought it would heal.
5:22Like maybe Max Crosby is just that much of a maniac where he got surgery. And then like a month later, he's out there doing wind sprints and it's not healing. I don't know. But yeah, it does seem like it would be convenient. I feel like anytime you trade for a guy like this, you could always say at the last minute, yeah, we're not going to do it because of the physical.
5:39PFT Commenter:Right. And it is a ripple effect where other teams that were maybe in on Max Crosby, Cowboys, Eagles, Bears, there's other teams that were, I mean, I think I even heard like the Bengals called about him. You don't know how much teams were actually in if they just kicked the tires. But every other team that was potentially in on Max Crosby, having Max Crosby go to the Ravens, then having free agency start, going plan B all across the board, then Max Crosby potentially can be traded again, which is crazy. Or the Raiders could just keep him. Maybe the Raiders are like, hey, Max, I know you don't want to be here, but we signed like$300 million worth of dudes.
6:22PFT Commenter:We should be better, theoretically. you want to just stick around yeah they have still have cap space they still have cap space i believe so yeah i mean it's interesting because you said you said the bangles and if uh if any owner would be interested in a scratch and dent open box max crosby that would probably be the bangles yeah what i got a great deal yeah yeah let's do it it's it's just nuts because it was and if you're a ravens fan that poor ravens fan i'm sure you guys saw it who uh shout out that guy i'm gonna find him i think i retweeted him like kyle hamilton dpoy yeah yeah uh hamilton underscore dpoy nate the ravens fan he uh he tweeted if the ravens happen to trade for max strousby i will completely shave my head he did shave his head three hours ago he posted it and uh he does not look good bald and then like he needs he needs to sue he needs he needs to do something about this i think everyone should get in line.
7:23PFT Commenter:I don't know. I can't. I'm not plugged in enough to know exactly the inner workings, but it does feel like something's fishy here, and maybe it's just the Ravens using the loophole of, hey, we can see we can trade for Max Crosby, see how the rest of free agency plays out, knowing that this stupid legal tampering and then official free agency, there's a two-day gap, and then just figure it out later, and that's what they're doing now. They can figure it out later. Yeah, I don't know. I guess we'll find out more after all the reports come out and when people leak select things to certain reporters.
7:58We'll get a better picture of what it is. But the statement that the Raiders put out said a lot, which is just like they backed out of the trade. We have no further comment. Yeah. So I don't think that the Raiders put that statement out if they find something genuinely concerning on like the MRI. It's like, oh, his knee's really, really bad now. It's not going to work out. That to me sounds like a pissed off Mark Davis.
8:22PFT Commenter:Yeah. Hank, what if his knee's actually fucked up and there's nothing nefarious? Maybe Tom Brady was doing the right thing? How so? Not trading him to the Patriots? Maybe. I mean, I hope his knee for his sake is fine. I feel like it is. well now I'm just like I don't I I said on Monday's show like I I I think it's stupid when you're in on a guy if you're a fan of a team you're in on a guy and then you don't get him and then you immediately cope by saying oh we didn't want him anyway I I was like yeah I did want Max Crosby I wanted Max Crosby on the Bears now now I I think I I do I don't know is he gonna go for a first and second I don't know it's got to be somebody that's got a lot of job security as a GM who's going to say, like, this is worth the chance.
9:11Because if they get it wrong, everyone's going to be like, yeah, no shit. The Ravens sent him back because they didn't trust it. And you thought you were smarter. But if you get it right, then you're a genius. So I think there will be teams that are interested. I don't know if the price is going to be the same, though.
9:25PFT Commenter:I also think that there should be a new rule for the digital era in NFL. If you post a 13-minute goodbye video on social media like Max Crosby did, that should just be trade final. you can't come back on that because this is the most like i actually am rooting for max trotts to be on the raiders now because that would be so awkward and funny if he has to show up and be like yeah all that all that shit like let's just pretend it never happened i'm i'm a raider for life so i'm coming home video tomorrow yeah does he get a tribute video when he goes back to the team facility what does he get a tribute video if they play the ravens this year from the ravens yeah right i'm saying with the guy just shaved head i listen if you do a 13 minute long goodbye to your team that's fine but you should also have to do a 13-minute goodbye video to baltimore yeah way back yeah absolutely and also you he should he's got long hair locks of love man you should cut that hair off you should send it to a fan that shaved their head yeah yeah max crosby said i'm i'm so excited i cannot wait to get out to the city and meet everybody talking about baltimore Well, he did for one day, and that was it.
10:33What do you think the value on Max is now? Do you think that they're going to get the same that the Ravens offered? Is it like a used car the second you drive it off the lot, it goes down to value?
10:44PFT Commenter:I don't know how you could. I don't know how you possibly could get the same value. Like, it just won't. There's just no way someone's going to offer the same thing if the Ravens, you know, physical was a no. So, I mean, they could get two first-rounders still, but it would be maybe a worse first-rounder. You know what I mean? That was a lot of the conversation was the Ravens had the draft capital where it's like their pick is decent this year and not picking at the bottom. So, it's so weird. I mean, again, it's so weird because of the dominoes that go after that and everyone who makes their moves after and everyone who fills out their roster after.
11:23PFT Commenter:And now even, I mean, I guess the one thing you could say the Ravens didn't do this in like a nefarious way is they also missed out on some free agents because they thought they were gonna have Max Crosby that would be my argument for any conspiracy theorists that the Ravens did this intentionally is like they probably could have signed some guys that they weren't able to then sign because they had Max Crosby on the books but if the Ravens did this intentionally that would also just piss off their fan base their fan base got correct excited about Max Crosby joining them like ask Stavi how he's doing I'm sure it's not good you want to call I'll call him real quick.
11:56Yeah, give him a call. I might want to check in. Just real quick.
11:58PFT Commenter:There's no way he's going to pick up. Because I texted him and he was so pumped. Yeah. But if it's like... That sucks. If the Raiders were trying to sweep one under the rug, I don't even understand how that would work. Because they were the ones that were pushing Max to get the surgery last year. Max was like, let me keep playing. You know, I don't think the Raiders would have... It makes no sense for the Raiders to sweep anything under the rug. I think he had surgery. I don't know. It was open. He had surgery. The whole thing is bizarre. I think it's like one of two things. One of two things.
12:32Hold on. I'm calling Stombe.
12:33PFT Commenter:Hold that thought. He's not going to pick up. There's no way. Because this is like there's only one reason I'd be calling, and it's like the troll call.
12:45PFT Commenter:He's probably like in a sold-out arena right now. What's going on, Hank? Victor Womanyama dirty. Yeah. No pickup. Okay. Yeah, he said he's... When I said congrats on Max Crosby, you fucker, he said he's the fucking man of perfect Raven. Nope. I guess he was. Not a Raven. Not a Raven. I'm bummed that we don't get the Steelers-Ravens-TJ Max matchup. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. What were your two thoughts? So it's one of two things, really. It's got to be... Oh, wait. He said... Oh, he just texted me back. In a car right now, unfortunately. But this sucks dick and is weird. That's my official statement. Sucks dick and is weird.
13:28PFT Commenter:Yeah. Your official statement has been logged. This sucks dick and is weird.
13:39PFT Commenter:Okay, what were your two thoughts? Basically, either they found something fucked up that they didn't think was there, and it's within their rights to nullify the trade. And that's why this two-day period is so weird, because something like this can happen, and then nothing that has been reported over the last day actually has to happen. Nothing's final yet. So either one, they found something weird on the physical, and they're like, yeah, we can't do this. We can't justify it. Or two, they have been talking to somebody secretly this whole time, and it's been a ploy, in which case, I feel like that would really fuck up the Ravens' ability to do deals like this in the future.
14:21PFT Commenter:Yeah. He probably just failed the physical. We're probably being too something's up. He probably isn't healing the way that they thought he was, and they're like, yeah, we're not going to do this. I pointed out that this is remarkably early. The Ravens usually wait until week three until their whole roster is injured. Yeah. Max has so much hustle that he's injured before he even plays it down. Yeah. It is. Now that I'm thinking about it, too, with this whole legal tampering and no deals can be signed until Wednesday, incredible window for anyone who has buyer's remorse you just do this every time she's like yeah i'll give you this deal and then she's like ah i slept on it oh wait furthermore from stavi furthermore if we don't acquire a pass rusher i'm gonna kill myself okay okay okay so they gotta get a pass ravens you've heard his demands get a pass rusher okay two two last things real quick We talked, so we're about to do the other intro of the show, talking about Geno Smith.
15:20PFT Commenter:We then talked some free agency. We got Nate Tice. We did mention that the Eagles hadn't signed anyone. After we finished recording, the Eagles did sign anyone, or did sign someone. Should we just pretend that they hadn't signed anyone still? Should we keep going or do you want to talk? Give us your grade on Reek Wolland. Howie. Howie. Okay, that's the grade. The official grade is Howie. Yeah, I love it, Howie. Also, the last thing was Zach. That girl released official statement from Monday's show, who said that she couldn't believe that debate happened. I think she wants to go on a date because she said, I don't know how guys listen to two and a half hours of this bullshit.
15:53PFT Commenter:Listen, Talia, we agree. Like, we agree that this is just junk that we're putting out there. But she was like, I respect the fact that that many people listen. So it sounds like you kind of got to ask her out on a date. I think she recognized we're putting a good product on the airwaves, Big Cat. No, she said the exact opposite. I thought she was backpedaling off saying that. No, no, no. She said it's insane that people listen to this show for as long as they listen to this show. But the fact that there's that many, she has to at least tip her cap to that. It was nice. Oh, I misread it. I thought it was like she thought it was so bad that it's so good.
16:32PFT Commenter:Maybe that is true. Well, I think she needs to just maybe give it another shot because today we've got guys on Chicks, which is a segment that she might find more enjoyable than the others that we do. Yeah. If you can't handle us at our iShow Speed vs. Trump, you don't deserve us with two 41-year-olds and a 33-year-old furiously debating the merits of laser tag.
17:00PFT Commenter:Okay, let's do the other intro. This is going to be fun. So here's our other intro, and then we're off and running. Welcome to part of my take presented by DraftKings. The crown is yours. Today is Wednesday, March 11th. And NFL free agency is here, boys. And Geno Smith is a New York Jet. Congratulations to Geno. He's coming home. It feels like a storybook ending for Geno Smith and the Jets, right? It's beautiful. It's coming home. Geno is the bridge quarterback. Memes, congratulations. You got your guy. You got him, Memes. Yep. Big two days of free agency. Glad we're starting with this. My question for you, Memes, is so much going on.
17:38Is Geno Smith the next Sam Darnold?
17:44PFT Commenter:He could be. He could be. He could be. I mean, of course we've got to start with this. Geno back to the Big Apple? Are you kidding me? It's huge. The Jets are the straw that stirs the drink in the NFL. It's huge. Are you excited, Memes? I'm okay with it. Okay. It's a vet men deal. better than any other choice out there right now. Yeah. Year two of the rebuild. That's just all I keep saying to myself. Year two of the rebuild. This is going to be a process. It's going to be a process. What is Max showing him? Jet sign, Nashawn Wright. Oh, okay. Okay. Congrats. Do you want me to give you a little quick Nashawn Wright?
18:23Oh, no. Me and Zach dapped him up at the Bears camp.
18:26PFT Commenter:Nashawn Wright, Ball Hawk, will make big plays, can get burnt a lot. Interception? Interceptions, yes. That's actually huge. I like Nashawn Wright. I think he had a very good year for the Bears. He's a good player. Ish. Ish. You have Nashawn Wright. You got Minka, right? Got Minka. So you guys have players that are capable of intercepting the football. Yep, got Demario Davis. That was big. And here's a text from Geno Smith. This is from his own fingertips. Complete full circle moment back to where it all began. I'm excited to connect with my new teammates and coaches and everyone in the building as well as build a new relationship with the fan base and community.
19:10What do you mean by connect? Connect. Not jawed and fist. He just put his fists up. You troll. Yeah. That's fucked up, Hank. Come on, Hank. He said connect. He was excited to connect with his new teammates.
19:22PFT Commenter:We should talk about to Mario Davis more being 37 years old and still being in the NFL. It's pretty fucking impressive. Yeah. I mean, that's insane. It is. So, Memes, are you looking forward to building a new relationship with Gino? Yeah, I'm fired up at the time. All right. At the time. That's great now. The time is right now. You're fired up. You're fired up currently. At the time. At the time. At the time right now. It sounds like that's what you're going to say in September when you're like, I was fired up at the time. At the time, I was fired up. Memes, you have been lashing out. I've noticed a couple tweets that you put out there.
19:59number one Gino did the prayer emoji thing because the Jets tweeted out a video of this is where it all began 2013 and then memes you replied I will upper deck any Wendy's for you yep care to elaborate on that it's when you take a shit in the top of the toilet I know what an upper deck is yeah when you flush it it's supposed to explode why are you upper decking Wendy's
20:19PFT Commenter:Wendy's was trashing him Wendy's was trashing Gino Gino yeah offered him a job oh I missed that one So he was deciding between the Jets and Wendy's. Yeah, and Wendy's is broke right now. Okay. So good decision, Geno. And what about the Carson Wentz? Yeah, I saw a report that Carson Wentz is going to be the backup. So Geno Smith's starter, Carson Wentz, backup. Those are pro bowlers. I mean, Geno Smith can still play. 2017, that's a lethal roster. Yeah. Geno beat the Patriots last year. I don't know what we're talking about. That's a good point by memes. It is true. Basically beat the Bears. Kickers.
Read the full transcript
21:01Basically beat the Bears. Pretty much beat the Bears.
21:04PFT Commenter:I actually think Gino's still going to be fine. I think that was a shit situation last year. We've agreed to forget that he was on the Raiders, that Pete Carroll was the coach. So as far as I'm concerned, memes, you're taking Gino from the Seahawks, directly from the Seahawks to the Jets, and that's a good deal. yeah i picked a real bad day to wear all the seattle stuff yeah but you this is a this is a good deal i i think it's a good deal i just i don't know and the way that it's breaking down it feels like so the raiders are paying almost the entire salary right yeah and the reason why they traded for him is because the vikings had interest in him and like if he went to the vikings everything everybody would just be saying kevin o 'connell's gonna fix him but now that he's on the jets people are just going to say uh i can't imagine being a jets fan that's where you think that that's where the anger like hypothetically if something different had happened then we would be reacting differently to it but what what's the situation that wouldn't have got gotten this reaction aaron rogers yeah aaron rogers no way but people say hall of famer could fix that problem.
22:16I'm not just like Geno Smith was already there. I'm not entirely sure what you mean, though. You're saying that it's not fair that the media would have said Kevin O 'Connell will do a good job with Geno Smith. But yeah, because he signs with the Jets, people are like, oh, Geno Smith won't be a good quarterback for the Jets.
22:32PFT Commenter:That seems like, yeah, really fair. But like Geno Smith has played for the Jets in the past and Kevin O 'Connell. And what happened? And what happened? And he wasn't very good for the Jets. What happened? He got punched. He got punched. He got punched. And then Ryan Fitzpatrick had a career year. Right, but Kevin O 'Connell does have a track record of how's J.J. McCarthy doing? Right, but Sam Darnold just won a Super Bowl. With another team. I disavow that, by the way. The J.J. McCarthy just so we know. It's a bit far. You're lashing out there. That's a bit far. Either way, fun free agency start.
23:08PFT Commenter:So we're going to get into everything with Nate Tice, where he breaks it all down. But the Raiders, Tyler Linderbaum, Linderbaum, huge contract. Yeah. Which actually was a great contract for him because he's, I think he's 25 years old. He's going to be a free agent again, essentially after two years. Or like after two years, he could basically say, I want an extension or, you know, get more money. So he's going to double dip again. He's going to dip again. Yeah. And I like that the Raiders got, there's certain teams that just needed to get competent guys on the roster. It feels like the Raiders did that.
23:38PFT Commenter:It feels like the Jets did that. It feels like the Titans did that. It felt to me like the Raiders were just doing a full team transplant. Yeah. It's like our team was very bad last year. We're going to go out. We're going to spend$280 million to get people who weren't on the Raiders to be on the Raiders. Yep. And therefore, we should be a lot better at football. They did get some good – like Quiddy Paye, I think, is a good player. Yep. Linderbaum is a very good player. And every dollar spent by Tom Brady getting these types of good players is a dollar that is almost worth double because it's got the added bonus of keeping them off the Patriots.
24:08Mm-hmm. Yeah. In fact, memes, you should be excited about that. Like Tom Brady elected to trade Geno Smith to you because he knew that it would be bad for the Patriots if Geno Smith was in that division.
24:21PFT Commenter:That's a really good spin zone. Yeah. That is true, but Tom Brady also doesn't like the Jets. Right. Also true. Also true. Fair point. Do you guys want to do some winners? I thought the Panthers getting Jalen Phillips, even though it was a lot of money, I feel like you've got to do it. So much money. So much money, but cap went up, and I feel like you have to do those type of moves, especially when you are a playoff team from last year. Your defense was a problem. You have a few defensive guys. You need to fill a lot of holes. He's young. He's versatile. The Eagles probably would have liked to have him back, right?
24:56PFT Commenter:Not at that price. Not at that price, but I'm saying the Eagles would have liked to have him back. They were trying to get him back, and then the Panthers gave him that price, and then it was like, all right, fine, we'll take another third. We just get third-round picks every year. But if I were a GM, by the way, the compensatory picks are bullshit. The Bears got absolutely screwed with the Ian Cunningham thing where Matt Ryan basically said, I'm not making any of the decisions. And we'll just get rid of the system if that's the case. But the Panthers, I like to move for Jalen Phillips. I would have, if I were a GM in the NFL, I would just try to copy my work off of all the good GMs.
25:31PFT Commenter:Like, I'd be like, oh, how he wants to re-sign Jalen Phillips, I'll give him more money. Slightly, yeah. Yeah, like just any good GM, if they're interested at all, they're just like, well, here's a little bit more money. Right? It's kind of a sound strategy. I think it was a lot more money. A lot more money. Sometimes you got to pay a lot more money for it. Also, all these, we say this every year, all these contracts are just, they mean nothing right now. Like the max amount of money gets reported, and then they get into the details, and it's like, oh, they can cut them after two years? I'm seeing more and more of the total value and then guaranteed.
26:08The total value one is just completely made up. It's just totally made up. $190 million with$25 million guaranteed. I think, you know what? I'm going to consider that a job, a war won by us against the NFL media over the last 10 years. When we started the show, nobody reported the guaranteed money. We could never figure it out. And idiots like us complained enough and told the NFL reporters, the rap reports and the of the world that when you report these contracts we know we're on to you the agents are telling you it's 150 million dollars it's really only 40 million can we please get the real numbers we
26:42PFT Commenter:won that war congratulations yeah the the jalen phillips contract is 120 million dollars reported it's 80 million dollars guaranteed which is a good amount that's a lot of it's definitely a good amount but it's like that's not 120 million that we initially saw um okay other winners from Free agency, I think I would put the Falcons just because they got all the left-handed quarterbacks. They got all the left-handed players. They've cornered the market. I don't really know what to say other than that with the Falcons because they – I just still can't believe the course of events that have occurred with the Falcons and the fact that they signed Kirk Cousins to a ton of money, drafted Michael Penix, who's been injured his whole career, then got injured, and then they're like, well, then we'll get Tua.
27:23It's the funniest thing. It's crazy. It's very funny. I think that they are, and we're going to talk about it a little bit with Nate Tice, but they've got a left-handed center. And I think they were the only team that had a left-handed center and left-handed quarterback. Now they've got a left-handed quarterback and a left-handed backup quarterback to go along with their left-handed center. It's a weird fit. I don't think that Tua can throw the ball downfield at all, but he can do swing passes to Bajon, and that's pretty much what they're going to ask him to do there. Maybe his hip can get better.
27:55I don't think that Tua is going to – well, he's got, yeah, like a mechanical robot hip. I don't think it's going to get that. I think what we saw from Tua is what we're going to get.
28:03PFT Commenter:The Dolphins signing Malik Willis, I'm happy for Malik Willis to get that money. Part of me is like – like it does feel like Malik Willis went from a bad situation in Tennessee to a good situation in Green Bay and potentially back to a bad situation in the Dolphins. But he's getting paid this time. Yeah. But do you know what I mean? Like if he, it's going to be a little bit harder for him to have the impact. Maybe I'll be proven wrong with a rebuilding roster like the dolphins. Right. But the dolphins GM and Jeff Halfley are both from the Packers. They got to see him up close. They seemingly like him.
28:39PFT Commenter:They get to see him more than everyone else saw him. So it feels like a decent bet. It's more like, would you be shocked to Malik Willis in two years is like, what happened? Why wasn't he the same guy that he was with the Packers? Like, well, he went to the Dolphins and they're rebuilding. Right. They have, I think, Bobby Slowick's their offensive coordinator, and he's been competent at times. I know some Texans fans might disagree with that, but he's had at least a few good years where he was, like, the next hot young head coach. Willis' time in Green Bay, it's like, it's not going to get any better than that, I don't think.
29:07No. That's probably like, but if you got that Malik Willis from Green Bay, if you were guaranteed of that, then he would get paid like a top-tier quarterback. Oh, yeah, definitely. He played amazing when he got in in Green Bay. I think it's kind of a low-risk situation for the Dolphins. They didn't break the bank for him. No, yeah, definitely. They paid him a good amount of money, and he's the best possible bridge quarterback that you can have. And if he's really good, then you can figure out a way to re-sign him, and that'll be great. And if he's bad, you'll just draft. If he's bad, it's like, whatever, we're used to having bad quarterbacks.
29:35PFT Commenter:Yeah, we'll be in the draft. The Rams, I think, did the best job in terms of filling their two immediate holes of cornerback, both cornerback positions, instantly. Chiefs Kenneth Walker I think that's a great signing again we're going to get into all of it in detail and Nate Tice knows a lot more football than we do so he breaks down exactly what he thinks of every signing I also thought I kind of like the move when Harbaugh with the Giants like I need a couple Ravens on my team just to keep a little continuity they got Isaiah Likely and I think they also got the punter who's a very good punter Jordan Stout Yeah, and I also liked what the other Harbaugh did.
30:15He got Alec Ingold as his fullback. So now he had Matlock out in Los Angeles as his fullback, a fullback that didn't really play offense. He was a defensive lineman, and he would send him out there and occasionally be like, hey, turn around and act like you're going to catch a pass. Alec Ingold may be the best fullback in football, and it was the most fullback move ever when he signed with the Chargers. He signed. He's now the co-leading fullback in terms of payment. I love that. He's like, you know, a lot of guys will be like, give me$1 more so I can say I'm the highest paid fullback. Not Alec Engle.
30:45That's not the fullback way.
30:46PFT Commenter:Yeah. He's tied for it. There are four teams right now who have not done anything. Jaguars, Broncos, Eagles, Seahawks. Who's going to be the first to do something? The Broncos didn't do anything? Not yet. Did they re-sign Singleton? I'm saying free agents. Okay. Like free agents off, not on their team signing them. Okay. Yeah. Yeah, not counting re-signing guys existing on their roster. Because, yeah, Travis Etienne went to the Saints, which I love for our guy Shuck. Love for our guy Shuck. Who's going to be the first? Are the Eagles going to do anything, Max? Just wait and see? Yeah, they'll do something.
31:27I mean. Are the commanders going to sign a wide receiver at PFT?
31:31PFT Commenter:We might. What was that? The little smile, right? I mean, Brandon Ayuk, he's the guy that, the most talented wide receiver in this class. I think we're probably zeroed in on him. Why are you smiling like that? I read a couple of reports. I was waiting for PFT to bring it up, but Patriots signed Romeo Dobbs. What reports? He chose the Patriots over the Commanders. Oh. Oh. That was the report? Yeah. Was it money? No. What was it? It was quarterback. Seems racist. Okay, congrats. Romeo Dobbs. Noted racist? That's not a racist guy, if that's your thing. I mean, maybe New England, you know, some history there.
32:07But wait, so you're saying Romeo Dobbs, the guy that has to like buy prescription, wear a guardian cap everywhere he goes and in the shower because he's had so many concussions. He thinks that that Drake May is better than Jane Daniels. That guy does. Yeah. Okay. You want to ask like Amanda Bynes or Joe Biden what they think? Some other intellectual titans? No, I'm just I was in your comment on the report's brain now. I'm just saying the guys he's known for having the biggest guardian cap in the league. Like, what's wrong with that? He's saying he can't think anymore. I'm just saying, like, that's the guy that you're trusting his judgment.
32:43Okay. I'm not. I'm just, like, telling you what the report was. Yeah. Okay. So he's reporting. Okay. All right.
32:49PFT Commenter:He's just doing reporting. No, I'm fine with that. I think that there's better receivers out there than Romeo Dobbs. What if they also choose the Patriots over the Commanders? Then you're going to have a lot of receivers. That'd be good. What were you just listening to, Max? Do you have a report? I liked, but I thought what the Commanders did was good. You got a defensive end? Owe. Yeah. Yeah, Owe's a beast. Yeah. Shane was very upset about that. Yeah, I like Owe. We may have paid him a lot of money, but... Sometimes you got to pay to play. You got to pay to play. You got to pay to play. Four years,$100 million,$68 million guaranteed for Owe.
33:25You got to just pay to play. So I like it. But yeah, hey, congratulate Romeo. Great wide receiver when he plays. Yeah, I'm excited. He's young. Fast. Still probably need to get someone else, but... Who do you want? AJ Brown. Yeah? Is Max going to give him to you?
33:46You know the price. You know the price. The price is the price. Two second rounders. Price isn't changing. I feel like the price... Two second rounders, he will be an eagle. I feel like the price might not be the price, Max. What do you mean? Well, the price is the price. The price might not be the price. Well, no. Whatever the price goes for, that's what the price was. You're talking about capital T, capital P, the price. I'm talking about lowercase p price. Then he will come back. Because I don't think that Howie Roseman wants to have another year of A.J. Brown. He would have traded him already if it was that.
34:19PFT Commenter:The price is the price. That's why he hasn't traded him. You see what I'm saying? Even if he gets traded for a seventh rounder, that would be the price. Yeah, but that's lowercase p. Max has an uppercase p in his mind right now. The big price. What's the big price, Max? The price is the... It starts with the first round pick. It starts with the first round pick. It starts with the first round pick. And realistically, it's probably a 20... If the Patriots won, it's a 2027 first round pick, not 2026. Mm-hmm. Why is that? Because their first round pick this year is basically a second round pick. Mm-hmm.
34:54Mm-hmm. Are you going to be having any more changes on defense, Max? Losing any more? See, this is a problem that I guess you don't really understand. When you draft really good players all the time, you have to pay really good players all the time. Are you mansplaining it to them? That's why sometimes you lose guys in free agency because we have too many good guys. No, I get that. That's why I'm wondering if you're planning on keeping those good guys. I saw what you were trying to do. Yeah, we have a plan. We have a plan. What's the plan? The plan is to make sure that the core of this defense stays put.
35:32We have to make sure that we can retain the core of this defense. If that means that we are losing some guys, you can't sign everyone. That's how the NFL works. That's how the cap works. Howie's going to figure it out. Vic Fangio's going to figure it out. We're going to put together another successful defense. We lost a shit ton of guys last year on the defense, and then we came back and still had a top defense this year. So you're keeping the core. Who is the core? Jordan Davis, Cooper DeGene, Quinian Mitchell, probably Jalen Carter. He's probably the core. Probably. You sound like a nuclear guy at Chernobyl.
36:12He's probably the core. Yeah, he's probably the core. And if not, we'll get a fuck ton of assets back for him. Yep.
36:18PFT Commenter:Compensatory picks. You got to think about the future while also competing for the present. and that's what good programs do we got four picks back this year and we draft well Max I was honestly just trying to talk ball with you and you seemed like you were getting upset well no you were doing your thing I know exactly what you were doing I was just curious Hank was doing his thing to PFT then PFT turned around and did it to Max shut Hank up because he realized how racist he was being I didn't do anything I nearly reported a report how many K's in Hank? one one my name's henry it is i love the name henry thank you um i like what the bears did to kobe bryant that's kind of cool yeah it sounds like kobe bryant i mean he's a good player but yeah no he's very cool also his name player and devin bush who should be i like it was it's a fine free agent i'm actually happy that it's not a we're not in a spot where we have to be a raiders and just sign everyone you know it's like hey a couple good now it's time for draft Now it's go time in the draft.
37:25PFT Commenter:Zach, how are you feeling about Mike Evans no longer being a one-Jersey guy? I really want to see Mike Evans retire as a Tampa Bay Buccaneer. He provided a lot of joyful moments on Sundays watching the Bucs. But he's not. But he's not. He's going out to California. I mean, there's a couple different reasons maybe why he left. He sounded like a parent who's losing their son to go pursue the dreams of being an actor. and you're like, stay on the farm, son. Yeah, I mean, I thought he left. I thought he was getting paid. I was like, all right, yeah, good for him. I thought he was getting$3.60, but I guess the guaranteed money is only like$16 million.
38:05He's going to pay a lot of taxes out there. Wouldn't have paid all those in Florida. It seems personal. I'm thinking maybe him and Todd Bowles just don't – maybe they just weren't meant to be. Yeah. Yeah. Is what I think it really comes down to. I think so. Yeah, I think a lot of Mike Evans, and so that would fit nicely with what I think about him. See, I don't feel good about it at all, no.
38:27PFT Commenter:How could you? Yeah. I don't also, the Michael Pittman Steelers, I feel like they're just gearing up for Aaron Rodgers to come back. Yeah, I mean, are they going to do Will Howard? Because that seems like it's their only other option. Yeah, Will Howard next year. Will Howard? Will Howard next year. Yeah, they have to be thinking that Aaron's going to come back. Yeah. Right? If you're getting, this is a perfect Aaron Rodgers guy, that's the guy. Yes. You just want to run short patterns? Yes. You want think and dunk? Let's do that. Yes. Did you see, I think. It is cool that Pittsburgh got a guy named Pittman.
39:00That is cool. That's pretty bad. It sounds like a superhero.
39:02PFT Commenter:That's underrated. Pittman. You're right. Did you guys see. Shit, I wish I bookmarked it. I think on day one of NFL free agency. Oh, yeah. Final, final tally. Adam Schefter, 27 news breaks. Tom Pelissaro 14 Mike Garofalo 7 Jordan Schultz 4 Ian Rapport 4 Other 10 27-4 between Schefter and Rapport That's kind of wild That's a blowout Is Schefter in his prime? I think he might be in his prime right now Honestly running up the score a little bit Bad sportsmanship by Schefter like that's that's a blowout that's a blowout that's an absolute i remember when it used to be a competition it's no longer a competition how many of those were by like 10 seconds i don't know and they also have been they've been increasingly uh low on details like the the news breaking now is has to be first by a matter of seconds that they they all just break the news then update the news like five minutes later.
40:14PFT Commenter:He updates the tweet. He goes back and edits the tweet, but my tweet got up first. That shouldn't count. You should not be able to report it until you have all the details. I think you can report it, but the report has to stay up. You can't change it. Yeah. You just have to live with it. Yeah. Okay. Like I said, we're going to get into all the free agency with Nate Tice, and he actually breaks it down in a smart way instead of us just kind of egging each other on to say something. before we get to the rest of the show. 41:54PFT Commenter:Other stories. World Baseball Classic is awesome. Continues to be sick. It was a great game last night. Yep. Honestly, there was one moment where it felt like Mexico might come back. It was very, yeah. It felt like things might be slipping a little bit, but the USA pulls through. Witt's just such a good player. Bobby Witt was putting on a defensive masterclass. Paul Skeens loved playing with Bobby Witt. It's great seeing guys that they're like, man, baseball can be so fun. Yeah, I'm allowed to have fun playing this. Paul Skeens also helped out, gave a nice assist to Kevin Durant who had not tweeted since the entire Kevin Durant burner files.
42:32PFT Commenter:Durant came out of retirement just saying Paul Skeens is a dog, which I said right away is like it's such a layup. It's like tweeting ice cream is good. Everyone will agree with Paul Skeens is a dog. Yeah. So he gave Kevin Durant a beautiful reentry point into the Twitter world where obviously all the replies are just like, hey, man, are you ever going to talk about the fact you trash people online? But it doesn't matter. We're talking about USA. We're talking about Paul Skeens being a dog. Yeah, it's like you're not being patriotic if you bring up. Why you bring up old shit on Kevin Durant? Right, exactly.
43:04Why can't you just admit that Paul Skeens is currently a dog right now? Yes, yes. He was a dog. And we also had the - And he also paid, I don't know if you caught this part of the broadcast, he paid for a bunch of F-35 pilots to be there. Love that. And a couple, I think, C-130s, too. They were just pilots all over the stadium last year. Nice.
43:22PFT Commenter:We also had the Cal Raleigh Randy Rosarena beef, which I love. So they're Seattle Mariners teammates. Randy goes up to him to give him a little tap when he comes up to the plate. Cal Raleigh says, nah, dude, we're in the World Baseball Classic. This shit means something to me. And then I think it might be kind of real beef. I didn't think that it was at first. I thought that it was like a teammate rolling up and he's got like pine tar in his hand. So he's trying to fuck with Cal Raleigh, trying to get him to dap him up. But then I saw the comments from Rosarino afterwards. and he says the only thing that raleigh should be thankful for is having such great parents he's well educated i was lucky enough to see them a few days ago at the hotel they came over to greet me gave me a big hug they were genuinely proud to see me again then he said raleigh needs to fuck off go to hell that good to see you bullshit that he said to me he can shove it straight up his ass i'm out was that kind of like a a weird mafia threat where he's like i saw your parents your parents look great i know what your parents look like yeah he should be the only thing he should be thankful for is his two lovely parents who are staying currently in room 207 of the same hotel that i am i i love this because i want i think everyone going into the world baseball classic is like the only thing we don't want is for it to feel like an all-star game we want it to be real bad blood these guys are about to start the season so cal thank you like cal raleigh thank you You gave it the juice we need, and I'm down for it.
44:56PFT Commenter:I don't want this juice. I didn't think that Rowley would be the guy to do it because he is such a nice guy. I know. But everybody's got to do something. He didn't get any hits last night, so I'm glad he stirred this up a little bit. He's an American hero. He is an American hero for that. It was crazy to see Aaron Judge putting a team on his back in a situation that doesn't really matter. Yeah. But he did it again last night. Like you said, it did matter at one point where it was like, oh, shit. This could be a close game. And so tonight we have USA against the Italians, right? Max? For the winner of Pool B.
45:25Max, who are you rooting for? It's got to be the Americans. But what if the Italians win? Well, I think the Americans still advance.
45:35PFT Commenter:No, I know, but what if the Italians win? Will you tweet maybe one Italian flag? No. Okay. You're not celebrating at all. It is funny because Team Italy is just all Americans. Oh, yeah. All Americans. That are just like New Jersey Italians. Our guy Vinny. Every team is just different Americans. Well, not Japan and, like, Dominican Republic. But, like, all of the teams that can't fill out full rosters. Czechia is just pretty much people from the Czech Republic. Did you see that guy who pitched four innings today? Yeah. Scoreless? He's an electrician? It was incredible. Unbelievable. He's an electrician.
46:07He shut out Japan for four innings, and then the Tokyo Dome gave him, like, a standing round of applause when they pulled him out of the game. Just a nation that loves ball. That was going to be my cool throne is baseball takes in 50 years. What about it? Like, if you're talking about Shohei, you can literally say he was just playing against electricians.
46:25PFT Commenter:Yeah. Good point, Hank. That's a great point. Was he that good? Hank, that's - He got shut out by an electrician. That's something from PFT. PFT, you should have said that first. I should have. Oh, wow. That's something that you should have said. No, no, no, no. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. First of all, that's bullshit because you're not giving credit to Hank. Yeah. You're making this about me. No, but that's... No, I don't like that. No, that's... We should be celebrating Hank for coming up with an awesome fucking joke. No, it is. It's a great joke. Yeah, great joke. PFT tired Hank Wired? No, Hank...
46:58When Hank first said that, did a little bit in the back of your mind, be like, fuck, I should have thought of that. I was too busy doing the Yankees joke last night. I like that one. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. There's a Mets England fan. That poor guy. Mm-hmm. That poor bastard. But Hank, great joke. Yeah. Spent enough time together. She rubs off. Yeah. Now I'm skipping work on Mondays to play golf. Hank's making puns. It's a beautiful thing.
47:24PFT Commenter:You guys golfing this weekend? Buzzing. Locked up. Me and Hank are back to being on great terms together. Definitely love that. Congrats on Romeo Dobbs. Thank you. He's a great player. Just don't ask him to catch any onside kicks. Have you changed your stance on the Celtics future? Have you done anything with that after being called a coward? Well, listen, I cast that out because of Hank's crying and his tears. Yep. We know that. And so I've got another plan, but I'm not going to be doing a future on the Celtics. Okay. My plan will not be to put the future of the Celtics to win. When I make the bet, you'll be the first to know, Hank.
48:00PFT Commenter:By the way, I do appreciate the NBA every now and then having a game where you're like, oh, yeah, like Wemby Friday night, and then last night or Monday night was Jokic and SGA, which was incredible. Celtics killed Wemby tonight. Oh, this is a pre-take. Yep. Pre-take. But yeah, SGA was... Another classic. Would he tie Wilt for most 20-point games in a row? Most consecutive 20-point games. What is it, like 100-something? It's crazy. In a row? That's actually insane. Insane. He had a 35-15-9, and Jokic had... I think he had a triple-double. Yeah, he had 32-14-13. It went down to the last shot. It's like, oh yeah, this is awesome.
48:38As a Lou Dort apologist... Nope. Do you have any comment about the flying elbow that he put? I think Jokic's face shouldn't have been there. Okay. Stand by. Jokic's face attacked Lou Dort's elbow. Would you say that if Jokic's brothers were here? Yeah, I would. Okay. Where are they? In this room? Let's bring them in. Do they speak fluent English? No, I think that's what you got to do for your guy Lou Dort. Just have his back no matter what.
49:05PFT Commenter:So if they don't speak fluent English, I would definitely say the same thing. Listen, Lou Dort goes hard. What are you going to do? He does. It was a great game. He's playing hard basketball, and sometimes elbows end up in people's faces in weird spots. Yeah, he lost control of his arm. He lost control of his left arm for a brief second. What do you think about SGA's press conference after the game? He had a pretty cold line. Yeah, what was it? It was something like, I've got all the answers to the test, but first I have to look at the questions. Yeah. That is a cold line. I have answers to the test, but I got to see the questions first.
49:44Yeah.
49:45PFT Commenter:And he's got cool sunglasses on. He's got cool shades. Very 1980s look out of him. I like this look better than the last one where it looked. Yeah. He was wearing the parka. Mm-hmm. Okay. Any other sports things before we do? Hot seat, cool throne, which I know will hit some more. Conference championship week. Caleb Foster might be out for the entire tournament. I already said sorry. Yeah. It looks like he's got a broken foot. Maybe the Jones fracture. I already said sorry. Yeah, we did this already. Yeah, no, I said sorry. No, but the report got updated today. Yeah, and I said sorry, and I continue my sorry.
50:21PFT Commenter:My sorry stays. It is interesting the way they're wording everything, though. No, I think with him, he's out for the tournament. They haven't used that terminology. What are they saying? They're saying that he's out for the foreseeable future. Everything I'm seeing is foreseeable future. I have not seen that he's out for the season. If it's the Jones fracture, of which I am a survivor. Max, aren't you a survivor? Shire announced that. Oh, never mind. Oh, read it. Read it. Read it. What do you say? No, no, no. What do you say? No, no, no. Read it. No, no, no. Because there was a report today, right?
50:56No. Yeah.
50:57PFT Commenter:Max, how fast did you come back? Max is great. Oh, okay. I'm happy to be wrong. I just thought it was interesting. I wish you were wrong. Wait, which side are you on, Max? Goodman's got so many seasons. I don't know. I just feel like the wording foreseeable future is weird without... Like, why wouldn't you just say out for the season? I mean, Duke's so good it doesn't really matter. See, like... Like, ESPN, foreseeable future. Forseeable future. Well, that is true. He's out for the foreseeable... Yeah, it's true. He is out for the foreseeable future.
51:34Okay. How long is the foreseeable future, though? That's what I'm saying. I don't know. The way this crazy world is. Could be tomorrow? The next day? Maybe. If we even wake up tomorrow. Kyle Shanahan.
51:46PFT Commenter:Injuries suck. They do. Especially this time of year. I don't want them. I want just a clean tournament. I want the best on best. That's what I want. And I really wish he was fine. Hopefully he'll be back. Yeah. Yeah, let's just hope he's back. Be an awesome story. Be an awesome story. Can you imagine? Final four. Caleb Foster returns for the final four. Then Duke loses in the final. What a amazing story that would be. Don't do that. Come on, dude. I'm sorry. Come on. Okay, let's do Hatsi Coulterone. Brought to you by Jose Cuervo. When Cuervo enters, every moment just gets better. You find yourself in the center of the dance floor.
52:30PFT Commenter:You can't help but stand up and high five those around you at the game. The room reacts like it just got the same text at the same time. You stop checking the time. Suddenly small talk escalates to laughing so hard you can barely catch your breath. That's the Cuervo effect, a signal. Everybody understands a moment that anyone can join in a good time that just grows. All you have to do is keep it Cuervo. We're also brought to you by our friends at Slim Jim. This episode is brought to you by Slim Jim, and we have some big news to report. Buffalo Wild Wings and Slim Jim have teamed up to create something clutch a brand new chicken stick this isn't your run of the mill meat stick it's everything you love about chicken wings packed into a convenient snack stick ready for your take on the go it's bold, tangy, mouth watering chicken wing flavor anytime, anywhere each juicy tender bite delivers a big win new Buffalo Wild Wings chicken sticks from Slim Jim available in two delicious flavors Buffalo or hot.
53:27PFT Commenter:We love, look, Buffalo Wild Wings and Slim Jim. That's probably two of my favorite brands teaming up. I got it right here in my hand. You know the rule. If the game's on, you need to be locked in with snacks on deck. So stock up for game day and tear into the new Buffalo Wild Wings chicken sticks from Slim Jim. I'm going to open one and take a bite right now. I'm going to slap in. I'm going to snap in. Snap in. Oh, that's really good. There you go. I love this. All right, Hank, your hot seat, cool throw. My hot seat is you, big cat. Uh-oh. Why? I don't want to give free publicity to the competition, but your co-host, PFT, has found a new friend to debate sports with.
54:12Careful. Who? And he spent, I don't know, three hours this morning. No, not three hours. Just have dishing back and forth takes. With who? Not three hours. It was an AI app. Oh, no. Yeah. Of a competitor. There's an AI competitor that you can have a conversation with and talk sports. The Colin Coward app? Yeah. That's a colleague. Yeah, we got into it pretty hard this morning. But it was one of those things like mutual respect. It was two great boxers getting into the ring for 12 rounds. At the end of it, we each hold each other's arms up. We step off, and we're just happy to be sharing the same space as the other guy.
54:46PFT Commenter:So Colin Coward sold all of his data to AI? That's kind of fucked. It's worth it. He can make a divorce reference out of anything. I was pushing the limits of this thing. That's crazy. So it's just an AI. How does it work? I sit down. I make sure Big Cat's not around. And then I start. I open up the app. Isn't this the. I say, feed me a hot take, Colin. And then I disagree with him. I say, how does this relate to Blockbuster Netflix? How was this? Isn't this like the Joaquin Phoenix, like her or whatever? falls in love with a robot. It was. I'm never like I saw it. I was like, this is ridiculous.
55:28Who's going to use this app? And then I'm not joking. PFT was debating with it for like 45 minutes. It was about 45. That's bad. Well, I was also asking it like, you know, give me some Jets takes. And then memes was getting upset with the AI. Oh, no. And then I was playing in Shane's ear about the Chargers. And Shane actually like got mad like it was a person. And he started arguing with my phone. And then I just. Do you have any saved? I don't know if you can save them.
55:51PFT Commenter:I took some video. Oh, let me play a video real quick. Hear this. I don't know. I feel like there's a lot of office chatter. Okay.
56:12PFT Commenter:So you were just doing this all morning? That's for about like 30 minutes. Oh, man. I am worried. I am worried.
56:22That's not true, Colin.
56:24PFT Commenter:So you can talk to it? Yeah, but I was thinking about you the whole time. I swear. Wait, you can talk to it? How does that work? Yeah, you talk. You have an engaging back and forth. This is not an ad, by the way. No, I don't think that too many people are going to absolutely, like, it would be a very sad person that's, like, at home by themselves arguing with AI Colin Coward. Like you were going to do. I was doing it. I was doing it behind Hank. I was also, like, after 30 minutes of doing it, I thought to myself, this is like me taking batting practice before I get into the studio when the lights go on and it's game time.
56:58But yeah, me and Colin had a dynamic back and forth. I did. I beat him in the debates, though. Hank even said a few times, you broke it. You did? Yeah. Well, the longer, sometimes it takes a long time to answer. And I was like, we almost beat Coward. Colin can't fuck with me. Okay. So you have nothing to worry about. How much does his app cost? It was free. Oh.
57:17PFT Commenter:Is there upgrades that you paid for? I might have to pace them up. Yeah, it's OnlyFans for Colin Coward. Okay. Then my cool throne is respecting women. Yeah, hell yeah. Yeah, the Atlanta Hawks canceled Magic City Night. Thank God. It would have been disgusting, bad for the kids. So I'm happy they saw it. What about the wings? The error of their ways and canceled this night. I'm just happy. Yeah. Women. You're happy? Luke Cornett, hero, respecter of women. good stuff i think um i think next monday we should make it magic city night and part of my take about that did you see someone pointed out that uh there is now like the greatest the three merch items that have never been released are sitting in atlanta somewhere 2020 was supposed to be the final four for when covet happened 2021 was the mlb all-star game Remember the bathroom thing and they moved it?
58:18PFT Commenter:And then Magic City. They already made the sweatshirts. Whoever has those three is a king. King. The Magic City sweatshirts were awesome. Amazing. I want it. Not Hank. You can't wear it. No, fuck no. That's right. You're such a fucking prude, dude. Why are you afraid of titties? I love titties. I love kissing titties. I love singing titties. But I also care about the kids and the NBA being a sport, all-inclusive sport. I also saw someone had a nice checkmate where they're like, I would much rather have to explain to my kids what Magic City is than what this statue is. And it was just a picture of Karl Malone.
58:55PFT Commenter:Oh, fair point. At a jazz game? Yeah. Yeah. Or like, why is this team called the Jazz? Yeah. Yeah. Again, I think that the most offensive thing to the kids was Atlanta Hawks basketball. And so Magic City being there. Hope you feel good. You're a canceling Karen. That's what you are. Just so you know. I'm not. You're canceling Karen. If you don't like it, then just don't go to it. No, you're canceling Karen. Yeah, close your eyes, bro. What if you're a diehard Hawks fan with young kids? Close your eyes. I do think that that scenario is maybe my favorite scenario. A young Hawks family from rural Georgia that scrimps and saves up$75 a year to buy a ticket.
59:33They finally got their ticket to the game, and it's on that Monday. They bought it like five months ago. Come on, y 'all. Get in the car. We're going to go see our Atlanta Hawks now. It's Tate Farm Arena. They drive across the state. They get in, and they're like, what is Magic City? That is the funniest possible scenario, and I'm upset that that didn't happen to anybody.
59:51PFT Commenter:But you also have to remember that that person would have been more upset about Paolo not playing for load management. True. So they were already upset. Yeah. Yeah, the mental twists. I just, listen, find this canceled. Just own the fact that you are canceling Karen. No. Okay, well, you are. I'm not. I'm a supporter of women and Luke Cornett. And if that's wrong, I don't want to be right. Why don't the Atlanta Hawks simply have a game at Magic City? That way everybody that goes to the game is... Because it's a strip club, not a basketball arena. ...is opting in to going to the game. They're not going to show up to a basketball game and be subjected to strip clubs.
1:00:29They don't let cameras in there. You know what?
1:00:31PFT Commenter:I'm going to find Luke Cornett's sub stack. I'm going to subscribe, and I'm going to start making a list of things. I don't think you have to subscribe. Okay, well, I'm going to start making a list of things that you should probably follow Luke Cornett in your life. Okay. Okay. What does that mean? I'm sure he's got rules for everything. Okay. Yeah. Being the fucking man. Is that what it is? Yeah. Okay. Funny guy. Let's get him on. Would love to. I'll take my shirt off. Nah. Memes, you don't want him? Nah. I mean, the guy's blog got an entire night canceled. Yeah. I would say this is anti-respective women.
1:01:10I agree. But that's a powerful. You have to admit that like tip of the cap to the power of his blog. The pen is mightier than the sword, as they say.
1:01:18PFT Commenter:Yeah. Cancel culture is real. It is. It is anti-respecting women. You're right, memes. Yeah. We wanted to promote people going to this club, giving these women more money. Right. You're basically shaming the women being like, oh, this is a line of profession that shouldn't be celebrated whatsoever. Luke Burnett wants to suppress women. Yeah. Not cool. They're earning money. Hank. How about increase the wage gap, Luke Cornett? Oh, yeah. How about fucking go through the glass ceiling, Luke Cornett? We respect women. Why don't we address the pink tax, Luke Cornett? Uh-huh. Yeah. Get their ass out.
1:01:51Yeah, let's go. Also, happy belated International Women's Day. Yeah.
1:01:55PFT Commenter:Didn't see a tweet about that, Hank. No, I didn't. Yeah, exactly. Every day is international. Yeah, right. So you just never tweet about it? I don't tweet. I don't tweet, period. That's not true. I'll tweet about this show. Because I have to. Because you have to. Yeah. It's called your job. Or else no one's going to know it came out. You were excited about Marquette Nation the other day. You tweeted about that. You're more excited about it. That was a callback to this show. You're more excited about Marquette than you are about women. I'm not a tweeter. Yeah. Yeah. I'm an exister sometimes. If you guys let me.
1:02:36PFT Commenter:Exister. By the way, Hank, we should. Do you want to put a little something on Where's the Big East tournament Why can't I find the Big East tournament It's in Madison Square Garden No I know but I Fuck yeah Max You already put it on for him to win 65 to 1 I don't see it It was up there Last night probably because the game's going on No I haven't started yet All right, I'll find it. Hopefully. Okay, your cool tone. It was respecting women. Oh, yeah. That's right. I already forgot it because you're just lying. Okay. PFT, your hot seat, cool tone. My hot seat is the PGA. I'm lying about what? You don't respect women.
1:03:23PFT Commenter:You're white knighting. They're not going to fuck you, bro. They're strippers. Okay. They're not going to fuck you. Strippers love me. Oh, yeah. They always do. They always tell me that. Yeah. Not anymore. you just took away a fun night for that. Hank might be banned from most trip clubs in America now. Do not serve this customer. Have fun on Max's bachelorette party. Bachelorette party. Yeah. We got to get him in a fucking white cowboy hat. We should all wear matching shit. Have a scavenger hunt on Max's shirt. White cowboy hat. Oh, man. Okay. PFT? My hot seat is the rest of the PGA Tour. because Brooks, a little stat that went way under the radar, Brooks switched up his putter at the Cog, is it, for the final round?
1:04:09PFT Commenter:Okay. And Brooks shot the lowest round out there. He shot 65 on Sunday. Okay. Nobody's talking about it because he didn't win. They didn't play last weekend. But quietly, Brooks Koepka is playing maybe the best golf of his last, what, three years? Mm-hmm. And so this week he's back at the players. His one issue that he's had at the players is hitting the Island Green at 17. hit it during his practice round. Stuck it. Let's go. So that and the new putter that he's got. Brooks. I feel like Brooks might be back this week. Brooks, let's go. I'm very excited about Brooks coming back. Fifth major? Would you guys actually be mad if they made it a fifth major?
1:04:46The players? Yeah. I think it should be the fifth major.
1:04:49PFT Commenter:Like, how do you make it to fifth major? I think the PGA just makes it the fifth major. What about the, what about the, was it Farmer's Insurance? the travelers sorry what about the travelers the NBA finals what about the John Deere that's the debate that's going on right now well I guess that could just be the sixth we've been calling everything the fifth major I know but if they made an actual major the fifth major that would be tough for you guys why because you call everything the fifth major well then just switch to the sixth major which is what I called Bay Hill because I've been low key saying that the players as the fifth major consistently so now my mind's already moved on to the next one so i'll be ready for that if that day comes but um yeah the players it's got a lot of juice a lot of the guys treat it like it's major the island green the iconic 17th and brooks is ready to go okay hank who do you got this weekend brutes ludwig two yeah what about max max max always max nice all right your cool throne uh my cool throne is just calling things the next sam darnold i've just heard so many so many next sam darnolds all week if you're talking about a quarterback he's the next sam darnold every team's looking for the next sam darnold i think we should just make it regardless of of what sport or what athlete it should just be anything in the world anything that used to be flash forward to later on this episode laser tag might be the next sam donald but like no regardless of anything that you got if it's something you used to enjoy back in the day i'm just i'm overloaded with hearing people say the next sam donald too many sam donalds out there next sam donald okay my hot seat is um dac prescott who we talked about on monday but the email leak that he sent all of his uh guests for his wedding you can't he's got to get better friends that sucks someone sold it someone sold it to tmz it said But as many of you, I mean, it was innocuous, so it's not a big deal, but it still kind of sucks.
1:06:58PFT Commenter:As many of you know, our wedding is currently scheduled to take place in Lake Como, Italy on Friday, April 10th, 2026. It is with heavy hearts that we privately inform our attendees that we have made the very difficult decision to cancel our wedding. We deeply apologize for any inconveniences may cause you and we welcome your prayers. Sarah Jane Ramos and Dak Prescott. That sucks that someone sold the email to TMZ. That fucking sucks. is nothing sacred anymore? Hank, where do you land on the prenup situation?
1:07:31And what do you mean?
1:07:32PFT Commenter:Rumor has it it had nothing to do with the prenup. But I'm just asking Hank in general. I know. I'm just letting Hank. I'm giving Hank that out there. In terms of what? Prenups. He's for or against? I'm for. Okay. Okay. If you really love someone, The money shouldn't matter. Yeah. That's a good point. And who cares if she makes more than you? Then you would be against. Yeah, because the prenup would mean the money matters.
1:08:07This is a tough one. If you're for a prenup, that means that if you get divorced, you keep your money. Yeah, the money matters. If you make more than her. Right. And if you don't have a prenup, that means 50-50. Right. And what's mine is yours. right which we were we built this together that's true beautiful thing okay so where do you stand
1:08:26PFT Commenter:i'm against you're against because if you're getting married you're never you're never you're getting married to be together forever right so and you don't think women or or men could like would get married for nefarious reasons to try to steal money right right well no oh i'm saying for me personally. Oh. Other people, it's a case-by-case basis. Yeah. So judge not lest you be judged. Just let people do what they want is what you're saying. Yeah. Okay. All right. So it wasn't about the prenup? It was a fight on the Bachelor or Bachelorette? TMZ says breakup was not due to a prenup. Yeah, it was about the Bachelor or Bachelorette party.
1:09:05Can't do it. I don't think anyone knows what the fight was about, but it was apparently not due to a prenup.
1:09:11PFT Commenter:All right. My cool throne is podcasters because the Ohio State president has had to step down because he got in an inappropriate relationship with a Columbus-based podcaster. So watch out. Let's just steal your boys. He's a podcaster. Columbus-based podcaster? Columbus-based podcaster, yeah. What does that mean? It's a podcaster based in Columbus. Of which there are many? Of which there are many. I feel like that's got to be... You got to be able to narrow that down pretty easily. Well, no, they name her. That's her on the right, I think. That's the podcaster right there. Oh, yeah. Yeah, wife, podcaster.
1:09:51PFT Commenter:That's hilarious. It's a great graphic. Yeah. So don't mix it up with podcasts. Again. I think he went on her podcast, and then the flames were just too hot. I mean, everyone says that a podcast interview is the greatest aphrodisiac. It happens to a lot of guys that sit on that couch. A lot of them don't want to ever leave. Just such a funny, like an old man. Like, this guy is in his 60s. He's the Ohio State president. To have to come out and be like, I'm stepping down because I may have fucked a podcaster. Come on. Yeah. I mean, it is. Again, this is why we're the Cool Toronto Podcaster. It's great for our community.
1:10:27PFT Commenter:I mean, when she says, come on my podcast, she means it in a great way. Correct. Correct. Okay, Zach, finish us off. My hot seat is back, by the way. PFT. Oh, yeah. There we go. certified philly philly mays banger my my hot seat this week is going to be guys who try to tell other grown men how to dress i uh you guys familiar with the dmv rapper wale yeah so while wale posts a photo online he's kind of feeling good feeling good about himself you know trying to go about his day and this guy sparks controversy sparks a little bit of a debate online goes his quote is i know i'm being judgmental but the fact that this looks this look is acceptable at 40 years old man still shocks me and it's just like you gotta let people express themselves how you want to express them there's a lot of guys replying to this uh photo in particular just compton full suits three pieces pinstripes yeah and i just i just i didn't think that was cool so i wanted to put all those guys in the hot seat you should think before you reply to things yeah what are we trying to do here we're trying to just like stunt on wale and be like hey wale i know you're probably richer and more successful than me but here's a picture of me wearing a suit so who's to say who the bigger man is i agree and that's what they're trying to do a lot of these photos are bad suits i don't like it that's a perfectly normal outfit that wale is wearing for the record i love that outfit i can see myself wearing that outfit i actually think i might own you definitely own that outfit parts of that outfit yeah if not all absolutely might I put it on for the one time.
1:12:01PFT Commenter:Yeah, don't let people live. Yeah, that's more the story of Let People Live. I love that. They weren't letting Wale live a little bit online the other day. I don't like that. And then my cool, quick one. We've talked love on this show. We've also talked Chili's Triple Dippers on this show. Have you guys seen the couple who got into Gagea Chili's? Yeah. Oh. 1:12:34Now they get engaged at Chili's, only to be sent off on a Chili's-themed honeymoon.
1:12:38PFT Commenter:Oh, I love these people. You could even say they got triple dip there. I love these people. That's incredible. This is a relationship that's going to make it. I think so as well. Yeah. Good for them. If the foundation of your relationship is the Chili's triple dipper or bottomless chips and salsa, you're going to make it. They're not thinking prenups or joint bachelor-bachelor parties. Not even a little bit. Hell no. You can hear my hot steaks away from my boneless nuggets. Yeah. Okay. Good job. 1:14:53And now here's Nate Tice.
1:14:57PFT Commenter:Okay, we now welcome on a very, very, very, very special guest. It is our friend Nate Tice, who's now going to be a recurring guest. Nate and I have known each other for many years now. He's a badger, but we also, Nate joined us for dinner in Indianapolis for the Combine. So everyone got to meet Nate and we figured what better guy to have on to talk free agency than the guy that knows a ton about football he talks about it all the time on his podcast football 301 he works for yahoo sports so nate thank you for joining us and i'm excited to dive in let's just let's dive in what let's do it give us the winner the number one winner the number one winner is uh guards and edges getting paid okay i think and and i think to maybe tyler linderbaum's bank account i think those are the biggest winners of the day.
1:15:46But yeah, you're always going to overspend in free agency. But I think some of these teams that had to spend money, they spent their money. Titans, Raiders. And I actually really like the Linderbaum and Raiders signing, even if it is a pretty penny, because it makes sense for what they are and what they're trying to do with Mendoza and Clint Kubiak and all that good stuff. So that's one that was my first kind of winner, apparently, because just off his bank accounts too. There's some more sneakier signings as well. They're kind of like quasi winners, I would say. but that's the one that kind of really grabbed my attention.
1:16:15Yeah. More than anything else. A really good center like Linderbaum going to Vegas where they're going to have a rookie quarterback. What does that mean for Mendoza, like for his progression? And I know they're saying right now they don't plan on him starting at the beginning of the year. They want to have him kind of learn the ropes in the NFL and take his time before he actually gets a starting job. I don't necessarily believe that that's going to happen because sometimes they see a guy and they're like, well, you should just be starting. Let's get you out there. But signing a center like this, what does that do for a rookie quarterback and their transition to the NFL?
1:16:50It does a lot. It's one of my favorite kind of things is to get a vet center with a young quarterback because that's the biggest transition, I think. Not only we talk about quarterbacks, but offensive line and running backs is pass protection, getting into the next level. And NFL defenses are super complicated right now, more than ever. What we saw Mike McDonald do, that is kind of the epitome of what the Seahawks and what they were doing in the Super Bowl, but that's what a lot of defenses are doing right now. They're very smart. The blitz packages are very expansive. So that puts the onus on the center to sort things out.
1:17:25Quarterbacks get the trump card. They get the leeway. They earn that right to then do what we always think of the Sheriff, the Tom Brady, the Peyton Manning pointing, the Drew Brees, all that. That takes time, and there's quarterbacks in the league that do do it. Josh Allen is one of those guys now that does that. but he took time to earn that right and so when you have when you have a center that's seeing those looks that knows how to go into a game plan knows how to communicate not only just calms the quarterback down it calms the entire offensive line and offense down but it takes so much off the quarterback's plate because now he I mean these are Mendoza's very smart guy it seems like obviously with his LinkedIn page all that stuff but those are long play calls that's a lot on third down that's changing week to week that now it's like okay now I don't have to worry about who the mic is are we sliding this way are we sliding that way now i can just execute the pass yeah um and then i'll earn the more of the pre-snap operation as time goes on so it just takes a load off and i i love that i mean bears fans have gone through it for years and last year was the first time we kind of felt calm because they had a vet center in there and even dolmens i would say is more above average than anything so i think linderbaum can really just bring that
1:18:32PFT Commenter:calm presence to a young quarterback okay outside of linderbaum and like i think that there there's definitely certain teams that you know the Raiders are one of them the Titans the Jets where it feels like they all did a good job of they just need to get competent football players on the roster who like is there is there a specific signing of those three teams that you're like oh that was actually a really good signing this is this is getting them to a place where hey they're going to actually play some football this year yeah John Franklin Myers going to the Titans uh that him and Jeffrey Simmons there that's some Bash Brothers potential right there I tweeted this, but there's two defensive tackles or eight defensive tackles last year that a certain amount of pressure rate, like the league average pressure rate's about 10 % for edges.
1:19:16I think it's like 9 % for defensive tackles. There's only two defensive tackles that are above 10 % there and then also had a stuff rate, which means tackles for no gain or TFLs of 5 % or more. And it's Jeffrey Simmons and John Franklin Myers. So I could see why the Titans, they needed so many bodies. They need the guys across their entire defense. And also what it does, it opens up opportunities for their first pick. Now they don't need this position. They also traded for Johnson, Jermaine Johnson from the Jets. So they don't need an edge. It would be nice to have another guy. They don't need another defensive lineman.
1:19:53They don't need a corner like Alante Taylor or something like that, because now they can just go, okay, we can address receiver. We can address offensive line. We can address other positions kind of opens that up. So that was the one I would say of those teams that really splashed and really threw a lot of money at that. I really liked that signing where it's like they paid him a pretty penny, but he's going to earn it because he's such a good player and has familiarity with Robert Sala. Having said that, they also signed Wondell Robinson to$70 million a year, and I did not like that deal at all.
1:20:19OK, so. OK, yeah. So there's the good and the bad of all this. Yeah. I was going to ask you, is there one deal that you thought big time overpay or a reach, maybe a panic move that a team had to do? well Robinson was a little rich for me because that was just a uh they're doing the whole he knows Brian Dable's system um I I just think he has a very replaceable skill set a slot only um type of he has to be a target eater but he's not like super dynamic as a yak guy I don't think he's a bad player or anything I just don't think it's the guy that you like oh we have to get this guy because I think it's a very fungible skill set I'd rather them gone for Romeo Dobbs who's still out there as we're recording this right now from the Packers.
1:21:00But that was one, so the same team kind of just like, oh, that's a little too rich for me for what I think is just because of coach familiarity. And it's also Dable who got fired and won three games. It's not exactly we're picking the brain of somebody that just came off a Super Bowl a couple years ago or something of that sort. It fits his winning system, Brian Dable's elite offensive strategy. Now, what about Rashawn Gary? What happened with that? Because to an outside eye, and maybe I just don't know ball, maybe I'm not in the thick of things like you who speaks to people in league circles know, but it seemed like he was just going to get cut because he said, I'm going to get released.
1:21:39And then the Cowboys were like, not so fast. What if I gave you a fourth-round pick? Would that make things any better? What happened with that? I think it was just that, oh, I'm getting cut. And then what happens usually, I mean, we saw that too with the Raiders. They traded for Teron Johnson. And it was a sixth, seventh round swap from the Bills. Oh, I'm going to I'm going to released. And sometimes that's where that public messaging actually teams go, oh, he's getting released. And then they go rather than him hit the waiver wire. OK, we'll trade for him rather than it become an open market.
1:22:09We kind of fudge the market and we just jump the line. So obviously a fourth to me means somebody offered probably a sixth or fifth. And they're like, and Jerry sees that first rounder next to his name and just goes, yeah, fourth rounder, because he's addicted to guys that were formerly drafted in the first round. round so i i think that's what happened is just that they try to jump the line we saw that with
1:22:28PFT Commenter:the david montgomery trade last week um where originally he was reported as a fifth and then actually went for a fourth and a and a offensive lineman and some and some other i think a seventh rounder or something it's because once it gets announced it's still not official yeah so it's like that's the thing and i i'm not a team that has to deal with the fallback of going like oh actually we're doing this instead so that's what i think happened is that jerry said screw that i'm I'm giving him a fourth instead. So I think that's just what the trickle down after he announced that whole little thing.
1:22:55So I'm sure he got, did you say he got hacked? I believe. Yeah, I believe he definitely got hacked. That wasn't. Yeah, a guy wouldn't put that out there, but I mean, that would make a lot more sense if other teams were offering a fifth and a six. And then Jerry was just like, okay, I'll be, I'll be the crazy asshole that goes over the top. I'll give you a fourth and let's get it done. Walk away. We don't have to negotiate that much longer. What about a team that kind of sat on their hands a little bit? Is there a team that you thought would be more active on day one? I wouldn't say I thought they would be more active, but it's really interesting what's going on with the Eagles because they're kind of cash.
1:23:31They're not broke, but they're cash strapped because of just their contracts right now. And it's just they're not doing anything. They're really just sitting on their hands. And that's just they're at a huge crossroads as a franchise. Just, I mean, losing offensive line coach, Jeff Stoutland, he retired. Lane Johnson's coming back. but their whole offensive line seem like they're contemplating retirement. Now you've got the A.J. Brown trade hanging up over their head. They're losing a great safety in Reed Blakenship. I really like him. I actually like that signing by the Texans. Fits their defense perfectly.
1:23:59But they lost to Kobe Dean, who's been banged up. That's another Raider signing, but he's been banged up. So I understood that. That's why they drafted Jahawk, Campbell, et cetera, et cetera. But I do think that this team is – they're shopping Jalen Carter, and that's very real. There's a lot of smoke there. But also if I were another team and Howie called me and said, hey, Jalen Carter's on the market, I'd be like, what do you know? Yeah, right. That's a big buyer. That's a fair question to ask. Yeah. Yeah, that's a big buyer beware. But the Eagles are just at a crossroads as a team right now.
1:24:31And this is somewhat by design. This is how he kind of does it. He does Howie Roseman. He does those pushes. And then they kind of reset. And we're at that kind of reset stage. But they, I mean, they're inactive because they have to be because they're strapped right now. And then they're also just got the AJ Brown thing hanging over their head. Some of their by choice by them. But I do think that that that they're interesting to me because it's just that this is a that it's a weird. I mean, the Cowboys are pushing this year. So I like how much of a reset is this for the Eagles? They like they don't have no tight ends on the roster right now.
1:25:02It's just a it's a very weird roster at this point in time.
1:25:06PFT Commenter:Yeah. Another one that was kind of weird to me was I don't really understand the Steelers strategy where adding Michael Pittman. another like bigger guy, you know, possession receiver, back shoulder. Unless the strategy is literally we're going to build every receiver for Aaron Rodgers to be able to throw back shoulder passes along the sidelines and over the middle, and he won't throw any interceptions. What are the Steelers doing? I wish I could tell you. Trying to sell season tickets. That's kind of been my – because they're hiring Mike McCarthy and just automatically going like, yeah, we're the only Aaron Rodgers team essentially.
1:25:42We'd love to have him back. And Rodgers last year, the thing that was, I would say, frustrating when watching him is that the offense wasn't awful last year. The run game was pretty good. The young offensive line is decent in Pittsburgh. Zach Frazier, the center is very good. And they got some other talent up there, McCormick and Fotton. But they had no receiver, too, which you felt. But that's also why I pay Aaron Rodgers. It's because you're supposed to make this all better. And I thought so many times it was frustrating. Like he pushed the ball, like didn't push the ball at all. Like he was throwing short of the sticks at one of the highest rates on record.
1:26:16I think it was like him in the one year Alex Smith was with the commanders. Like that's like way short of the first down market. He was checking everything down, throwing underneath or throwing go balls. And that's not going to lead to a lot of sustained success. So if you're going to have a quarterback do that, you need guys that can break tackles. Pittman I like, but not, he's not a tackle breaker. Right. Like you say, he's a back shoulder guy. So, like, I understand a trade. They need a receiver, too. And I understand why they maybe went for a guy that was on the market, like Pittman, because of the Pierce stuff with the Colts and everything.
1:26:46But I thought they need a little more juice because they need guys that can take stuff that's a two-yard gain and take it 20. The back shoulder living, it's like just kind of a hat on a hat.
1:26:56PFT Commenter:Yeah. With this team. Yeah. I saw someone tweet it perfectly. They're like, if Aaron Rodgers comes back, the Steelers have basically built like the perfect uh like turkey thanksgiving day like pickup game offense yeah where it's just no one gets separation but that's okay and you know yeah we'll just we'll just throw it back shoulder and just kind of muck it down the field yeah i don't i don't really understand that one but it it is what it is do you think alec pierce i i i think he's awesome people were like oh that's a lot of money i think he you tell me if i'm wrong but like i always saw him as a guy who played a a role for the Colts because there was a Michael Pittman there where now he'll do more for the Colts and just be the go deep and, and, and, you know, go ball guy.
1:27:44Yeah. And he was always been the, the go ball guy. It's now why he had so much success last year is because he added to his game. Right. Like he, his routes are getting a little cleaner. He's always going to be kind of, he's never gonna be a high end route runner because it just some of his physical limitations, like he's a little stiff hip, but he is like, he's added to his game. He comes down with the ball and explosive plays are the name of the game. And that's why he it's not only just his catches, it's his gravity. You know, that's what that's why you pay a guy like that is because every snap, the defense has to honor him.
1:28:16The defense has to make sure they have somebody over the top. The safeties can't play low because at any time the safeties have to worry about him running 40 yards down the field. So that's like why he is like speed's always going to be at a premium. But when you see like last year guys like Tutu Atwell getting like$11 million, like Alec Pierce is twice the player of that. So got twice the money. I do think that that's why it's rich, but that's the free agency market. And he's kind of earned that right, but he's added to his game. I think ideally he's a high end two for you. But what the Colts are trying to do is that we have Warren, we have Downs who do their best work underneath and in the intermediate areas.
1:28:53And if you had another guy like say Pierce wasn't there, it's just Pittman. That's going to make a very tight offense. Like everything's just going to be tight. But now you have Pierce out there. Defenses will run softer coverages because they have to have a safety over the top. It's the Randy Moss effect. I know I'm not comparing Alec Pierce to Randy Moss. Right. But that's what speedsters do. We have to run cover two. Otherwise, he's going to burn us. Well, what cover two does, then we can run on it. And they have Jonathan Taylor. So it's that the trickle down of Alec Pierce is worth the money that they paid him.
1:29:22Because even if he's only a thousand yard receiver on 50 catches, doesn't matter because what he does for everybody else is worth the money. Yeah. What do you think about the quarterback market, about Malik Willis to the Dolphins, Tua to the Falcons, and then the big one that's still out there, Kyler Murray? We don't know where he's going to go, but it's going to be very interesting wherever he ends up. But what do you think about what's happened so far with those two? Malik kind of made me feel a little bit better that I read the signs, right? The former Packers coach and the former Packers GM go there, and they signed the former Packer.
1:29:56And I was like, okay, good. That's what the Cardinals were sniffing around. I was like, why are you sniffing around? You guys should be the tank commanders this season. I actually do like some of the sneaky signs for the Cardinals, but they should be watching a lot of Texas film. The Jets in Arizona should be watching a lot of Texas film this year. I think the Cardinals truly love Jacoby Brissett. I think they're confident in Brissett as their quarterback. Yes. Garner mentioned he's going to lead him to success. No, but with Malik Wills, that's exactly what I figured. It's kind of the Darnold contract.
1:30:28We've got Seattle, maybe a tick lower. It's really a two-year deal. They're guaranteed through two years. It's a tryout. I would rather they kind of embrace the tank, maybe trade for Davis Mills or something because Bobby Sloak is the coach there, the OC there from the Texans. But I get this kind of dart throw. Hey, if we get more out of it, he's a very exciting player, and he's got a lot of tools. He's supposed to be a great dude as well. Maybe you get something out of it. But I think it's an expensive experiment where they might just get caught in the middle because he'd be competent enough.
1:30:58But I think that's a fair contract. That's kind of like the lower middle class contract, which is kind of was non-existent a few years ago. It's kind of coming back for quarterbacks because before it was just like pay two of 48. OK, who's next paid? OK, pay him 49. Like there's just one more than the last guy. But the rest of the guys like I'm more interested. Well, Kyle are going to the seems like stars are aligning with him in Minnesota, which I actually think is a better stylistic fit than people think. Um, cause KOC likes guys that can launch it. That's what Kyler does best. And he can do some creation throwing on the move.
1:31:28Uh, Gino Smith is interesting. Um, no, he's out there. Kirk cousins is interesting. Um, he's out there like those guys. I I'm curious where there's spots. If we assume, you know, the Rogers to the Steelers, Kyler, maybe to the Vikings. I'm curious where those other guys kind of end up like, because now two are going to the Falcons. I actually thought Stefanski cousins, maybe that they would kind of rekindle that relationship. but obviously it seems like that's done. But Tua going there, I think that's more of a, hey, we don't want to change it from a lefty quarterback to a righty quarterback. Also, if I could blend Penix and Tua together, that's a hell of a quarterback.
1:32:07It's a great quarterback. Yeah, I know, right? But it's kind of funny because their center's lefty. Bajon Robinson's lefty. Drake London's lefty. They have a lot of lefties on that team. A bunch of mutants down there. A bunch of Ned Flanders. Yeah. Yeah, I know. I know. The left-torium down there. No, it's good. That to me was interesting because I feel like that is, and we've said this about two in Miami, like if you get a good roster around him, he can be a good quarterback. Now they've got like a good dynamic offensive roster in Atlanta, and they also have the benefit of playing half their games indoors.
1:32:41So like this, it does feel like the perfect, if two is ever going to be good, this is the place to do it. Yeah, and this offense is going to ask him to throw the routes that he's kind of comfortable throwing. Maybe not to the extent of what McDaniel is doing the Dolphins, because that was kind of a circus team. Like they were their own thing. But as far as just some of the play action stuff, he's comfortable doing it. And that's what Stefanski does. I mean, but John Robinson is the engine of that team. And Stefanski is the same guy that rode Nick Chubb. So that's not going to change. But I do think that some of the play action stuff does fit Tua, maybe better than Pennix.
1:33:16But because Pennix is just not comfortable turning his back to the defense, which we kind of saw last year. That's what, you know, some of those play action stuff, that's what happens when you're under center in the pistol. Two is a little bit more comfortable with that. But also I think this is a quiet tank a little bit for them. I think this is a, this is a regroup year. Obviously that's why you go for a two. Just kind of like, yeah, we don't, we don't care about feelings. Like we just, whatever, just as long, as long as we can assess everybody else. I'm more interested even just quarterback wise, like the backups, the Tanner McKees of the world, Tyson Bagans of the world.
1:33:48PFT Commenter:Yep. like if they have a market because I think McKee would be such an interesting name for teams or Bayesian even too so that's why I'm still keeping my eye on those guys I think once the collar thing happens then we're going to see the trickle down with everybody else signing and whatnot I hate to make declarative statements during free agency but I the Rams are the best team in the NFC now I think I know that's crazy they only got they got two guys but they they literally needed like the the weakness of their team last year was they had bad cornerbacks and they could never they had to play zone all the time and got shredded in big moments and then they go and get McDuff trade for McDuffie and then sign Jalen Watson I'm like well that's a wrap they're the best team in in the NFC is that crazy yeah no while keeping their top 15 pick right uh yeah Yeah, no, I'm right there with you.
1:34:44It was a credit to what Chris Shula was doing, their defense coordinator, that he was getting the most out of Emmanuel Forbes. And I think Kobe Durant's actually a solid player. But, I mean, McDuffie and Watson are big upgrades. McDuffie's excellent. I consider him kind of like either low-end tier one or high-end tier two corner that can play in the slot. He's super instinctive. He's very smart. He knows he's aggressive. like that also the defense that he ran in Kansas City translates great to what Shula does um so like what Spags does in KC to what Shula does in LA like as far as like they do a lot of um what they call palms but they trap guys and that really takes advantage of the corner's eyes if they're very aggressive and the fact that he can play in the slot they have so many guys that can play in the slot which is that's why they play so many so much dime five six dbs uh is because they have so many guys that are valid on the inside so he's another weapon that can throw at offenses um i love that already i understood why they paid him why they trade for him i thought that was a fair trade but um like i just love that signing or trade but then the watson signing was one of those because i thought he was a nice kind of upper middle class free agent like he's a really good two the chiefs fell off when he was on the field and he goes he goes he just follows him to the rams and so everything i said about mcduffie being a scheme fit all that stuff it matches it's perfect for that too so i'm right there with you and now they can do whatever they want with that first pick and they're really interesting yeah go tight end receiver o-line do you add another edge do you tag like they could do so much with that first pick so yeah i thought they're my favorites in the mc as well right now a real quick nate i i wanted to ask you about something because we've never had you on the show before and um i was going back i was looking at your college stats from your time at Wisconsin.
1:36:31Is this the best stat line ever? Your college stat? Is this true? You have one attempt rushing for 17 yards and a touchdown? Yeah. That's awesome. Yeah, celebrated with 17 drinks afterwards. And don't remember much. No, that was the stat line. I'm the human victory cigar at Wisconsin. I would come in when it was a blowout, And then they ran what they call Lonesome, which is a quarterback keeper. And it was a play that isn't supposed to have a lonesome on it because it was designed to get me smoked by an edge rusher or something coming off the edge. And we're playing Indiana. Not this iteration of Indiana.
1:37:12Yeah, old Indiana. 2010 Indiana. Scoring 83 points on them, Indiana. So, yeah, that's why I got dropped in there. And then the DN was just lazy, and I just was able to scoop by him for a touchdown. but I was supposed to get decleted or clotheslined or tombstoned or whatever wrestling move you want to say. That was the plan. That's awesome. Did you have a touchdown celebration ready? I did the J.J. Watt shrug. Okay, nice. We were teammates, but I don't think anyone realized what I was trying to do. I think everyone – I got whiplash, too, because my teammate Ryan Groy headbutted me so hard after a score, so I might have been a little concussed.
1:37:50It's a great stat line, like a perfect college stat line. Good for you. Yeah. No passes. Just a run, baby. No incompletions. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, exactly. You have more touchdowns. You make all the shots you don't take. Yeah, you have more touchdowns than incompletions. That's pretty impressive. Yeah. Thank you. I appreciate it. Yeah, no, dual threat weapon. That's how everyone associated me with that 5-2-40 I was running.
1:38:11PFT Commenter:All right, so the reverse of the Rams, Kenneth Walker going to the Chiefs. Not reverse, but the two Chiefs players going to the Rams. I love this for the Chiefs. Is that crazy? I know you're not supposed to pay running backs, especially in free agency, but it's like the Chiefs have just not had any explosive dudes. Obviously, Rasheed Rice is – but it feels like Chiefs have not had pop to their offense for a while now, and now you've got a guy who can actually run the ball. Yeah, and they've needed this for like three years now. And Pacheco did a fine job, but Pacheco wasn't this. and whether it was etn travis etn or kenneth walker i was like they were in the market for both of those and i was like i for a lot of teams i wouldn't maybe like this but for the chiefs this is like yes this is exactly what they need right uh like walker you know some of his visions can be iffy but he's so explosive we saw in the playoff run um he can just create something out of nothing and what the chiefs have run into their offensive line is going to be good next year and i think it's kind of getting underrated how good the chiefs offensive line is going to be and but But they've been one of the most efficient run games, meaning so they've been getting four yards, five yards.
1:39:23But Patrick Mahomes had more explosive scrambles last year, which is a gain of 10 or more yards or 12 or more yards than the running backs had gains of 12 or more yards last year. That's Patrick Mahomes. So that's the last last what month and a half of the season. Yeah. Yeah. And this is two years running that they've done this where they've had like a top 10 efficient run game. So it's like they get a lot of singles. It's like an each year old run game and they just get no pop. And now they get a guy that can hit home runs. And so Walker can be limited in protection, some detailed stuff, but that's fine with the Chiefs because they don't need that.
1:39:55Other offenses maybe need a guy that has a little bit different kind of play style. So this is awesome. The Chiefs have gotten smaller and slower. They're skilled guys over the last five years. And now they need a juice and they need size at tight end, and they need a little bit more at receiver too. They brought back Taequann Thornton, which I actually like because I liked his role with Mahomes. but I love this. Screens, big plays. This is like, we can find the guy that can get four or five yard plots. Now that you get a guy that can take one to the house, and I think he's going to earn that contract.
1:40:27He gets banged up too. He's always going to need a number two with him. That's why Charbonnet always got touches before he got hurt. But I love this for the Chiefs. I really did. Also, they signed a defensive tackle I really like, Kyrus Tonga. And I like that signing too. So yeah, the Chiefs actually had a solid day as far as not just Walker, but Tonga and Thornton too is kind of the middle class signings as well. Yeah. They just got Dawson Knox too. I think that just happened. Oh. Just as we're taping. Which is nice because now we don't have to watch. Oh, sorry. Nope. That's the Bills. Bills agreed to a new contract with Dawson Knox.
1:40:57That would make sense. I got fooled by an Adam Schefter notification that when I hit show more, showed me the official. Now I'm bummed out because I'm sick of watching Dawson Knox and Dalton Kincaid. Now I'm confused. Dalton Kincaid. Dalton Kincaid. I got you. and getting confused on which one of the dks just caught a pass for third and 11 um so now that we get to do it's 80 86 too that doesn't help no it's both i mean this is my rams tight end theory i
1:41:26PFT Commenter:there was multiple times this year where i just bet all the white tight ends for the rams to score because i was so sick of a white tight end scoring for the rams looking up and being like oh i don't have them so i would just spray the board just take all four people celebrated that blakenship is no longer with the Eagles. Yeah, we don't have the, yeah, yeah. I have to worry about Cooper DeGene and Blankenship wearing 32 and 33 and go, who's confused? Even other players confuse them. Yeah. You see that clip, right? Where someone went up to read. He's like, no, I'm not Coop. That's the other guy.
1:41:57PFT Commenter:I do have another question that vibes wise. Mike Evans going to the Niners. I don't think that's like, I love Mike Evans. I think he's an awesome, you know, he's a Hall of Fame receiver. He's an awesome receiver, incredible career. He'll be good for the Niners. But to me, it was more, damn, does he hate Todd Bowles. Is that fair? Right. That's very bizarre to me. Mike Evans, who's played for the Bucs for that long, one Jersey guy, the money seemed the same, and he's like, no, I don't want to do this anymore. It was the fact that he was like, oh, I want to play with, I think, a high-end quarterback or a winning quarterback, and I want to play with the team that wins, the team that just won all these divisions and everything.
1:42:38Yeah, there was something off there. The fact that he was like, no, I'm not going to take any hometown discount. I'm out. I'm going all the way across. But the fact that he stated reasons as opposed to just like, hey, I want to find a new spot. Right. And the guy that is now battling, he's been so durable, but he battled injuries last year going to the place that has the electrical substation everybody's worried about. But we can't blame that, right? Yeah. No. But I do think that there's the fact that he said it in that way. He tried to be professional, but saying the statements that he did, like he could have just said nothing.
1:43:16So the fact that he said that is a message. A guy that's been kind of a warrior for this franchise. Go damn bad. I mean, they've went through some bad years in 2010s. So it's indicative of something. And I think the Bucs are an odd team.
1:43:31PFT Commenter:Yeah. Is he going to be good for the Niners, you think? I think when I was there, well, he's with Shanahan. So that's why I'm like, yeah. But he's not going to be to the extent of what he was, obviously, in his prime. He's 33. And come off an injury. But in that offense, yeah, Shanahan will find a way to use him great. Whether it's, I mean, yeah. I think he's just going to be very effective. Maybe what he was two years ago where he just broke 1 ,000, something like that. And then he's got a good amount of touchdowns. That's the thing. Kyle Shanahan's really good in the red zone. And Mike Evans is really good in the red zone.
1:44:03So that's where you'll feel him. Kind of how Devontae Adams was this year, almost like a designated hitter.
1:44:07PFT Commenter:Right. You know, where it's like certain games he showed up, but also in the red zone, boom, the ball's going his way. So with other teams, I wouldn't like this, but with Kyle Shanahan, he's always going to get the most out of his guys, and now he's got just a supremely talented guy, even if the guy's waning. It's kind of the – I'm kind of rambling here, but it's the – I learned this from a basketball guy. He's with the Nuggets. But he was saying it's the Vince Carter theory where a guy that starts as an excellent athlete, they actually age into good role players if they care about the game enough.
1:44:38And Evans seems like he does. So same kind of thing where he ages into a good role player as opposed to a star. But I liked it. Yeah, I thought that was an interesting one too. I'm looking at your big board that you have here. You've got Reuben Bain still at number four. Is that a common take amongst the draft nicks that are putting together their big boards and their mocks? Or are you an outlier in that you've kept him up there even though he's got the gummy bear arms. I don't know. And I'm all about length. Like I am a guy that I like tools and traits, and I usually defer to tools and traits.
1:45:12That's what the NFL is all about. But also I care about a guy that defends the run. And that's why I think I have Bain just stacked up a little bit higher than David Bailey, who David Bailey is going to be a force as a pass rusher. I just have questions about how he defends the run. And if you're taking a guy in the top 10, And I think Bain has a cap ceiling, but I do like him. I think he's going to end up just being a good pro. Almost like it's weird, almost a safer bet. Like I've compared him to Brandon Graham, where that's where I think he's very similar stylistically and built build wise. But again, Brandon Graham, I think, was only like a one time all pro.
1:45:48You know, it wasn't this guy that was going there every single year, but just a good pro. So I think that's why I've just kind of deferred to Bain is because he's tenacious. He can be an effective pass rusher. I think he's going to end up being like a six to eight sack guy. But the fact that he's going to be a good run defender as well that can kick inside, that's just to me, there's a lot of good there, even if there's not a lot of overwhelming or a lot of great with his arms or some of the twitchiness stuff and everything associated with that. But this is what this draft class is, though. I think I even said that in my write-up is that he kind of epitomizes this class, a player I really like, but maybe I don't love, and he has a blemish that kind of has you squinting just a little bit.
1:46:25but that's just the entire draft classes like this. Yeah. Is there another quarterback that you have that could be a first-round guy? Because we've heard Ty Simpson has been – people have been talking about Ty Simpson a lot. I saw that you had Nussmeier at 38. Is there another guy that you think could slide in that first round? Those are the two, if there were going to be one, is Simpson and Nussmeier. I've been squinting and trying to find others, but I think that they only can get so high. Taylor Greene had a great, great, great, great combine, and I was already interested in him as a day-three guy.
1:46:54You know, he reminds me a lot of Randall Cunningham. It's just that he has some accuracy stuff underneath, but he has some games like the Texas A &M game is really positive for it. As far as processing, as far as decision-making on top of all the tools that you can bring as a runner and a thrower. But he's like, but again, that's day three. I can only get so high with a true project like that or a quasi project. But I think it's Nussmeier and Simpson are the only ones that can kind of maybe get to that first round. You never know. But I will say that that's just how I like. I think even guys that we know of, Carson Beck, that's a clear day three guy to me.
1:47:28I'm getting more interested in guys from North Dakota State or Jack Strand from Minnesota Moorhead. I'm trying to Jalen Daniels from Kansas. I'm trying to find more maybe interesting day three guys than maybe over, if I were a team, than overreaching for these other guys that to me are clear, like I say, day three guys as opposed to round three or round two that can maybe sneak up. And to me, that's only Nussmeyer and Simpson at this point in time.
1:47:55PFT Commenter:I got a question about the Bears. I love the Kobe Bryant signing. Devin Bush as well. Is this a lot of Dennis Allen getting the guys that he needs to run his defense? And what did you think about their first day? Because they don't have a ton of cash left, so it's probably going to be about this and then trying to fill a lot more holes in the draft. Yeah, I mean, they needed safety with both of the safeties coming free. And Brian fits their defense perfectly because Mike McDonald and what they did in Seattle, it's kind of hard work. You know, whatever team wins, everyone's like, oh, this is the new trend.
1:48:31Everybody's going to copy this. It's kind of hard to copy Mike McDonald, who's just an incredible coach and runs everything. I always call it a kaleidoscope scheme that he just runs everything and he just coaches it really well that week. And but why that's a good thing with Brian is that as a safety, they safeties have to be the smartest guys now. um uh where we used to think of my you know mike linebackers still have to be it but a lot of that operation pre-snap has shifted back to safeties we see more safeties with the green dot that get the play calls now um because of that because they're on the back end everything's top down now with all this quarters coverages so i'm bringing this all up because dennis allen is a very creative defensive coordinator you see it a lot on passing downs like third down but also you know down to down he can kind of do some funk you know he's got some stuff to his defensive calls why you need to operate that to execute that you need smart safeties and that's what brian is and a twitchy safety he's got range as well so if you're having a guy on the line of scrimmage that's a run all the way back you need a guy with some speed and he has that as a converted corner i would say he's a willing tackler as opposed to maybe a very sound one some seahawks fans got really mad that i said he was a sound tackler it's okay willing tackler i'm so sorry okay but i do think that i love that signing like i really did i thought the price was fair i think he was the best safety on the market once especially with cam curl was gone um i i just love that fit i'm curious how they address the draft uh i really think they need defensive beef up front to help alan needs he likes size and he likes guy you this type of defense needs guys along the spine so you need defensive tackles need linebackers that can blitz and then you need safeties that can blitz and do everything everything has to come along the spine and so now you see where they sign linebacker and safety and if i had a bet yeah they take defensive tackle in the draft or something in defense they signed defensive tackle as well right yeah they went literally defensive tackle
1:50:28PFT Commenter:linebacker safety is their three signings on defense that it's yeah that's what they have to address and that's what this defensive system needs uh is yeah guys along the spine okay all right what do you think about a dafe away to the commanders it seems like a huge contract whenever i see a hundred million dollars in the commanders and 68 that i just i think about albert hainsworth You know, it's the Pavlov reaction or whatever. I'm like, that's okay. It can't be as bad as that at least. But he seems like a guy that, you know, second half of the season last year was very productive, had some great years or some solid years on the Ravens as well leading up to that half season with the Chargers.
1:51:06Is he more of what we've seen before or is this like, you know, a red flag almost because it's like contract year and then he just jumped off the page at you? well i wish i could have a straight answer because i i when i watched him with the chargers he was kind of a different player uh and even next gen stats had a great stat on he had the sixth highest pressure rate once he joined the chargers in week six um in the entire nfl and you know that's up with guys with miles garrett all that i will say though that's with jesse mentor coaching him and that's what jesse mentor dialing up plays that led to some unblocked pressures led to some creative looks for him where he took advantage of him.
1:51:43He did play like a guy in his contract here. And I mean, that's a positive. I also mean that as a. So it's what you want to argue for. It's a pretty again, it's a pretty penny. That's a lot of money to throw at him. But he's got traits. He tries hard, which is also when you want to pay a guy, you want to make sure that they have the you don't want them to be like Hainsworth. Yeah. And all of a sudden he's laying down literally on a snap. But I do think that it's like you are paying a premium because of just like he has a market for a reason because he's young he has some production to point to the 10 sack year was a little fake i think what he did with the chargers is the most real but is it jesse minter in that defense or is it hey now the stock's going up and something clicked probably somewhere in between but they needed to do that they need again this is now hopefully with dorance armstrong coming back because i did think he was looking really good last great player yeah um now again in the draft you open up paths now you can kind of oh we don't have to draft an edge because that's what everyone's been mocking right to to the commanders is like david bailey or bane or keldrick falk or somebody that's there now you can kind of open up the paths for the draft so i do like that even if even if it is a lot of money i will say why did they let go of tower beadish that is more than anything with the commanders that is the one thing i'm not understanding even if he's not an amazing center yeah is that what's their plan now i don't know they just kind of created a new gap for themselves and then beyond just got a race yeah the center market is crazy right crazy yeah yeah so that that's the commander is everything like the only one i'm fine with because it's like i if you're gonna bet on a guy at least there's more to tap into here he's not maxed out that's how i think of away yeah but like why why they move on from beyond like that's where it just seems like yeah i don't know one one step backwards one step forward kind of thing for the commanders.
1:53:29They had a weird kind of couple days. I also feel better about O-Way because knowing that he was drafted by the Ravens, they're a very good team when it comes to drafting players. So I put like some stock of that. I'm like, okay, well then he's got, he's a good guy. He's got a good motor. He cares about the game. He's smart. The Ravens already did that homework for me. But yeah,$68 million is, that's a lot of money. I had one more question about the draft for you. So I know that you have Love ranked pretty high, right? Did you have him number three overall? on the big board okay so how does he compare to running backs that we've seen in the last few years like bajon robinson uh gibbs and genti coming out how does he stack up with those coming out he's i i have him over gibbs get he's bigger than gibbs um i really like bajon coming out so i probably have bajon slightly higher uh but he's up there from guys i've watched i've been struggling to find a real good comparison for him uh i've seen the reggie bush one but reggie was a little bit more fluid but i get the skill set um and i and i don't want to be like total hipster and try and think some 80s and 70s guys like there's a little uh if you remember the guy david johnson for the cardinals there's a little running style like that he's a better version of that maybe not as big um so there's one guy he runs like but i don't obviously on the show he runs like oj simpson okay so it's like you know as far as a running style but like the football player the football player on the field yes yes on the field only and and yes and he can catch the ball better
1:55:01PFT Commenter:than that uh but anyways okay this is the show you can say that you can just i know i was like i i did yeah my brain just hit a wall about three times before that thought got out uh yeah no he's got he's got a lot of like can't wait to see that can't wait to see that clip no you're good but it's good uh no but jeremy i love though it's like and i think you see that's why running back are getting paid and running backs are getting drafted is because if you're going to give a guy 20 25 touches like they better be valid and if defenses are daring us to run the ball let's have a guy that like kenneth walker just got paid 15 million let's have a guy that can take a five yard gain 50 and jeremiah love can do that and the other thing this is why maybe i had gives a half step or half tear below these other guys is he was terrible in pass protection when he entered the nfl now he's pretty good at it um is that love can stay on the field every down so it's the girly thing it's the zeke thing um is that they don't have to come off the field you know touches and everything but scheme wise and and play call wise and play design wise there's no limitations uh so i think that's where i i really that's why i think i have him so high not think that's why i have him so high is because of that is because he has that every down skill set and he can take the ball to the house and that that to me is just like that's valuable i don't know what his draft range is especially after like the Chiefs paid for a guy.
1:56:21I think it's really more interesting what his range will actually end up being. But he's a guy that I'm very comfortable taking the top 10, especially in this draft class that has so many blemishes. Yeah, it's like his his blemishes that he's running back. That's it. Yeah.
1:56:35PFT Commenter:Yeah, it's weird, though. Yesterday didn't really go his way in terms of some of the landing spots could be interesting where he falls to now, because like obviously the Raiders are not going to take him. The Jets are keeping Brees Hall. The Cardinals, Tyler Algier. There's a lot of teams like Kenneth Walker to the Chiefs, Etienne to the Saints. It's weird. I don't really know where he's going to end up going now. Yeah, and I see the Titans rumors at four, but I'm like, Tennessee, you guys got so much you need to be addressing. But who knows? That's what I'm seeing. But Cincinnati's got Chase Brown.
1:57:12Devon H. hands with the Dolphins. uh uh Javante Williams just got re-signed by the Cowboys you're just going one by one the Rams maybe they want girly part two but they've kind of they've kind of Williams but that's the thing that could be interesting like the Raiders just went gente uh you know the the Bucs but they just signed Kenneth Gainwell and uh and who knows what's going on with Bucky Irving um like they're a landing spot potentially you never know what the Bucs are going to do like you said the Jets the Lions the Vikings maybe but the Vikings have a bunch of holes yeah uh you know so it's like they're his drain his range is very interesting and it's like someone gonna trade up for him you know like somebody in the 20s gets giddy and moves up for him like that it's i'm very interested where he ends up but having said that like i i like him a little better than genti because i thought genti took so much contact that it was like i was a little hesitant about how his career ends up but i really liked him obviously i thought he was a guy that was again valid to go in the lottery but i i just think love's got just a little bit more to him even than that so just very curious where his range goes yeah after you get get away from Mendoza to me at least it feels like the two guys that are that are um slotted like in the top 10 um that are the most complete players would be Love and then Caleb Downs two guys that are like the the big downside to these guys is the position that they play yeah should we spend a top 10 pick on a safety even though he's clearly a top 10 talent yeah I I think so in this class yes and other classes that have more loaded talent maybe not but in this class yes because i'd much rather have especially with downs and and and we just shoot we're just talking about what kobe bryant going to the bears if he's in the right the hands of the right defensive coordinator he can do what like a center does on offense like just calm everyone else down kind of get everyone lined up and it's kind of he's kind of his own thing but there's more safeties playing like this he has a lot of buddabaker to his game and his usage uh where they kind of do this rover where it's a it's it's hard to describe but it's in between the linebackers and the safeties essentially it's and then he kind of uh it's old school they used to call it a monster back which is signed see ball get ball um but they like he what's because why they do that is you're letting him use his football iq to read the game out and close and more safeties are getting used this like even uh uh dylan teamman uh teamman from oregon gets used this way a little bit as well it's a good safety class uh emmanuel mcneil from um toledo is very exciting he's got some cam chancellor to him uh but i do think that with with caleb downs is that he can again provide that kind of boost effect for everybody else he just has to get in the hands of the right guy but i do think he has some positional versatility or um scheme versatility like if it's a quarter safety or quarters defense or something like that.
1:59:52But again, in this draft class, I would much rather have that kind of what I consider quote-unquote safer. I can envision how this guy's going to play for me as opposed, depends on what team you are, but as opposed to maybe like Keldrick Falk, who I really like, but it's like, hey, that's projection. You know, that's a lot of like, hey, hopefully this works. Or, you know, I'd probably defer to offensive linemen more, but there's some offensive linemen more project-y type of guys. So I think the sure thing of him is has some appeal in this type of draft class.
2:00:22PFT Commenter:OK, Nate, I got one last question. It's been awesome. You're a recurring guest now. We love talking football with you. So we're definitely going to do it again. Roback question. You can listen to his podcast. Football 301. make you smarter, better than idiots like us. My last question, would you sign Trey Hendrickson in for how much? Yes, but not as much as I think he's asking for. Yeah, it's interesting. It feels like he's kind of not overplayed his hand because obviously everything last year.
2:01:03PFT Commenter:A little bit, though. Yeah. Yeah. Because, again, age, if you see who's getting paid right now, younger guys. Obviously, you want to get guys before they're 30, which every year I get older than 30. I'm like, oh, man, this hurts. But I do think, too, is he has some limitations. He's an excellent pass rusher. Like no one ever doubts that is that he's a weakness against the run. So it's not just like I'm trading for Khalil Mack or I'm paying that or freaking Reggie White, you know, guys that are just dominant every snap. Hendrickson is a specific player. You know, he has to be used in certain ways and has to be kind of hidden at some time.
2:01:42So he's more of a luxury signing, I think, for a team. So it has to be a team that already has what I think is a good defensive structure that I could maybe hold up against the run as opposed to like, like the Cowboys going after him. I would be, I'd laugh. I know. I don't think they will. Cause I don't think they have the money, but I laugh because I'd be like, you said you guys are trying to get better against the run. Right. And then you go with that. So I think it's more of a luxury signing for somebody as opposed to like, we have to get them break everything. Oh my God, we have to get this guy.
2:02:10Cause every single down. So it's kind of like a super, yeah. Like I say, super luxury. It's like having a really good three point shooter. And it's just like, yeah, yeah. He's really good to have, but I don't know how he plays on defense all the time. You know, there's some limitations to like his skillset and everything. So yeah, I think he's asking for a little too much for what his kind of archetype is, even if he is a very good player, where would you like to see him go? Like where would his talents be maxed out? Oh my goodness. Man, actually the, the Rams. Yeah. As a fan of ball. Yeah. No, but they, they can't afford that.
2:02:43You know, like the chargers would be interesting. Something like that. Like, you know, like if they just want to like put them over the top with a guy that can win on the pass rush, they need some defensive help. I mean, the 49ers would be interesting. You know, those types of teams that are like upper middle class teams that maybe get over the top for the contendership as opposed to maybe a middle class team. I have to TBD on my answer on this because now I'm actually kind of marinating on it. The Jaguars. Yeah. Like the Jaguars put them over the top. Like those type of teams that like they're trying to make that last move.
2:03:15I'd prefer he goes to an AFC team because I think the AFC is so wide open. It's incredibly wide open. And so I understand teams that maybe are going to get aggressive this offseason. So that would maybe speak to that aggression.

Memes will take this out. Choice of hats. Okay. Give it a good home. Are you taking that personal? I'm just noticing, that's all. You're noticing. Yeah. You're in the noticing phase. Filing it into the bank. Okay. All right, guys on checks. This weekend, my fiance and I were at company party for my work where they had laser tag. During the first 15 seconds of laser tag, my fiance ran into one of my coworkers and chipped three of her teeth out.
2:06:33Oh! After going to the ER that night and a specialty dentist the following day, she needs to get three stitches, a metal bar across both of the top and bottom row of teeth to straighten them. Needs three root canals as well as three permanent crowns that she'll have to wear. Do you think she would have avoided this if she would have gotten lower or dropped a shoulder? I know she would love to get your guys' input. She listens to every episode of this podcast and will definitely hear this. That's tough. That's really tough. It depends on what her job is, but I would guess that it's a pretty big inconvenience for her to have three teeth missing at once.
2:07:05Is she Irish? Does she have soft teeth? Is that a thing? Yeah. The Irish have soft teeth? Yeah, I think the Irish and English have soft teeth. It explains what? It explains my teeth issues. I think it is.
2:07:16PFT Commenter:I think it's soft teeth. She looks Irish. Not a lot of calcium? Soft teeth in the Irish context historically refers to a 19th century stereotype about poor oral health due to diet. Okay. So I'm just rocking stereotypes from hundreds of years ago. Some old school racers. Yeah. Ah, me teeth. Ah, no. Listen, I think that this is going to be a tough, tough recovery for her. It's going to be a very tough recovery for your boyfriend. Oh, no. She's got the Jack Hughes going. That's brutal. Let's see here. I feel bad for her.
2:07:53I mean, yeah, you just got to go to as many hockey games as you can because hockey fans will appreciate that mouth right now. They'll be like, yeah, you're one of us.
2:08:01PFT Commenter:Tough chick. Here's, okay, this isn't going to help, but here's what I'll say is, why were you playing laser tag as an adult? Laser tag sucks. Wait, no. Yes. No, laser tag kicks ass. Laser tag sucks. We're going to have to agree to disagree on this. Gotcha. That's not laser tag. That's paintball. That paintball rocks. But it's the same thing. No, it's not. Good laser tag. That's my point. Good laser tag rocks. Laser tag, I swear to God, laser tag, I've done this right before, But the laser tag, when it first came out, whatever it was, 25 years ago, it was the sport of the future. It was supposed to be awesome.
2:08:35PFT Commenter:I have not played laser tag in, like, good – you say good laser tag, PFT? Where is there a good laser tag? I'll find you good laser tag. Every laser tag, the guns don't work. You hit someone and it doesn't register. Sounds like a U-Pro. There's so much tag. Sounds like you might suck at laser tag. It sounds like one of two things. One, Big Cat goes to some broke-ass laser tag. When have you guys last played laser tag? Two, he's not very good at laser tag, and he gets frustrated. Answer the question. He gets shot, and he's like, oh, it sucks. Answer the question, because I guarantee you I've played more laser tagging in the last five years than any of you guys here.
2:09:05PFT Commenter:So when's the last time you played laser tag? No. Laser tag is a game for children. Thank you. Thank you, Max. It's a children's game, and baseball is a man's game. So as an adult, you should not be playing children. Listen, kids playing laser tag, go have fun. You run around, that's great. If you're an adult playing laser tag, I'm not saying you deserve to get injured, but think about what happens when you do get injured and then you have to tell everyone what happens during laser tag. Our office is an office of games for children. Where is the laser tag? Well, we should get some. We should get some good laser tag and we should turn all the lights off one night and set up like an obstacle course.
2:09:41You know that sounds kind of sick. Good laser tag. You sound like White Sox Dave right now. And we're doing...
2:09:46PFT Commenter:You want to be in his camp? What? White Sox Dave? Yeah, it sounds like he's a good laser tag player. They did a snake draft of... If you had like a dream house, what would you put in it? and his first pick was a laser tag. And it was like, dude, how often do you play laser tag? And then I offered this like a year ago. I offered him free laser tag for life. I will pay for every laser tag game he plays for the rest of his life. He has yet to play because it's not a game for adults. I'm just saying if we set it up right, it would be good. I'm sorry that White Sox Dave said it, but like White Sox Dave also eats lunch every day.
2:10:18Does that do you have a problem with eating lunch?
2:10:20PFT Commenter:I'm just saying you don't you've played laser tag once or twice as an adult and you have a nostalgia factor, which I get. Nostalgia is a strong drug. Laser tag is adult socks. In our office, it would be sick. In our office. I'm on your side. Sure. Yeah. In our office, I think it would be cool if we did. You know what would be awesome? Paintball in our office. Yeah, but then that gets all messy. Who cares? It gets messy. You have people cleaning up. Somebody gets hit in the eye. Exactly cleaning up. A girl gets hit in the mouth. She breaks three teeth. She complains about it. What about just real search and destroy?
2:10:49Great. What's that? Like Call of Duty. Like real guns. Real guns. Yeah, he's talking about the - And bombs.
2:10:55PFT Commenter:The most dangerous game. Yeah. Real guns. Yeah, he's talking about war. Yeah. I just think that any adult who says they love laser tag has not played laser tag in a long ass time. I have not. I have not, but there's good laser tag places. There's bad laser tag places. There's a lot more bad than good. But the question, the answer is they're at a corporate company party. Yeah, just don't play the laser tag. Zach, you would play the laser tag. I've played laser tag. It sucks. I do it with my son because it's like, oh, yeah, when you come in and it's like, this fucking sucks. So if you were at a corporate party.
2:11:27I think Big Cat gets shot by a bunch of six-year-olds in laser tag, and he's like, this game sucks. I was going to say, laser tag just hasn't broken containment. I know you might not be in the laser tag when you're playing with your son, but if you get some adult comp and it's like 4v4. Then you get hurt and you break your teeth.
2:11:40PFT Commenter:You've got to tell everyone you broke your teeth playing laser tag. That's any sport, man. You've got to put your body on the line. Technology just never progressed with laser tag. I wanted it to be better. I have a very clear understanding of what happened. Big Cat goes to play laser tag. You've got a target on your back. There's like a dozen six-year-olds that team up like they're SEAL Team 6. And he's Osama Bin Laden. And they plot out ways to get him. And Big Cat's like, I'm not having fun. But I had this take before my kids. You're taking me down. I thought laser tag. Every time I played laser tag, it's like this technology just never got that much better.
2:12:11PFT Commenter:It didn't. I don't even know the last time I played laser tag. But from what I remember, it was fucking awesome. If we find top-of-the-line laser tag equipment, I agree with you. I'm sure it would be a great time to play here in the office. 100 % it would be a blast. Top of the line laser tag equipment does not exist in laser. Wrong. Dude, it exists, but not in like 90 % of the laser tag places you go to. That's why we're getting it here. But you're saying like, hey, if you got. I feel like the seal probably has. What you guys are saying is if you got the perfect version of this, it would be awesome.
2:12:43Yeah, no shit. Yeah, I would like to go ahead and sponsor the Barstool Sports Office for a set of top-of-the-line laser tag equipment. Great. You're going to play, like, one time. No, I'm talking about the best you can find out there. Go find it. If you are a laser tag, like, I want the arms dealer. But you need the obstacles.
2:13:01PFT Commenter:You need the obstacles, and then people fucking hide, and then they don't get in the game, and the scoring makes no sense. Laser tag stinks, dude. We'll get the obstacles. We're going to get a suite set up. It's also, the problem with laser tag is - I need you to not poo-poo it until you try it, though. Because right now you're poisoning people's minds before we get game one going. I'm giving my opinion. I can't give my opinion. I will say it will be impossible to film. Correct. Why? I don't think. I actually disagree. You ever see the movie Cops? Laser tag. Laser tag. It sounds cooler than it is.
2:13:35Everybody gets body cams. Laser tag sucks. Yeah, we filmed the paintball video. That was a great video. Paintball is awesome.
2:13:45PFT Commenter:I'm in for paintball. Paintball and laser tag are the same thing. No. Because paintball. Paintball and laser tag are the same thing. When you hit someone. One of them you just get hurt. One of them you don't. When you hit someone. Yeah. It hurts. And you know you hit them. Yeah. Laser tag. You still know you got hit. Not really. The system's always messed up. Also the one time. Like. There's more discrepancy in paintball. That. Well that's just people cheating. Blatantly cheating. Gotcha. There was. There was. By the way. The biggest fight of all time. Oh, no shit. Billy refused to admit when he got hit.
2:14:17PFT Commenter:Who could have seen that coming? Jake didn't cheat. He did get Hank. No, Billy. No, I said surrender. He said surrender. Okay. We're going to have to put in some clips. Yeah, you got to put in that. Zach, I would like you to maybe take this on as your project. Find me top-of-the-line laser tag equipment. I'm talking this shit that the Navy uses to train their boys. You trying to run a duo's, trio's, or quads? How many sets? Let's get some options. Okay. Let's get some options. And then we're going to also figure out an outfit. We're going to design a course. And I think it could make a good video.
2:14:52Because laser tag done properly kicks ass. I agree. It could be all time. Okay. Look at that. Look at this equipment. He got bow and arrow. He got bow and arrow.
2:15:03PFT Commenter:He got two seconds. Probably going to try to shoot someone. Yeah. Look at those dudes. They're having the best time ever. Worse than the mats. No, these are kids. Can I take a glow mat? This is a kid's laser tag. Dude, the mats are paying for their bucks. I got a mask from DraftKings. One of the red masks. Oh, nice. Laser tag for adult sack. Oh, look at that. It's called paintball. And it's awesome. Battle rifle. Paintball or Airsoft. Also awesome. Airsoft could trump paintball. Airsoft is sick. Anything that hurts a little bit is awesome. I think it hurts just enough, but not as much as paintball.
2:15:40Correct. I think laser tag is like TGL for paintball. Yeah, Pandora's off-season. Paintball's awesome. It's a paintball simulator.
2:15:49PFT Commenter:Okay, what's the next one? Either way, this woman has to tell everyone that she got hurt playing laser tag. Also, it's not the end of the world because you got hurt at a work event, so you could probably get time off. So just do that. Hey, big boys, minus Hank and memes. Parentheses, yes, PFT, you're now a big boy. I don't know. I don't think I like that. My boyfriend won't go with me to dance lessons. He says he will only go once he proposes and or when I buy him a Rolex. I think he's popping the question this summer, but I signed us up for a couple's dance class anyway for next week. Is he just stubborn or am I in the wrong for making him go?
2:16:25To a dance class? Now, is the idea going to a dance class for your first dance as a couple? Isn't that always the idea? Yeah, it sounds like you're proposing to him by taking him to this class. You have a dance class? Don't you have like seven? Why do you have to take a dance class? I don't want to.
2:16:42PFT Commenter:It's all a slow dance. The first dance is a slow dance. I also, I bought like a class of five. Because you go to the first one, they're like, oh, one's not going to do anything. You got to get a class of five. I'm in the second of my five class bundle that I bought. I remember zero from class one. So we're just going to do the same song and dance. I'm going to spend a lot of money to just not know how to dance. Which you already don't know. Which I don't know. Learn how to dance. Also, what does it matter? I kind of agree. What does it matter? You don't want to look like an idiot. That's what I've been.
2:17:23PFT Commenter:No one's going to say you look like an idiot. It's your wedding. Hank might. Yeah, Hank might. Have you thought about just doing like a dance dance, not a slow dance? Like a choreographed dance between the two of you? I'm not choosing anything. Yeah. But the first dance is no one even... Everyone's like, oh, shit, nice. The open bar's back open. Yeah. You know what I mean? Like dinner's done. Cool. And if you get like off speed, off tempo, just lean in and kiss each other. And then everyone's going to be like, you-hoo. Or just say, everyone come to the dance floor. dance for 15 seconds and be like, everyone come to the dance floor.
2:18:05PFT Commenter:That's fucking stupid. I don't know what to tell you. We side with the guy here. This lady sounds like she's doing a dance class. That's her way of getting a Rolex. Get him a fake Rolex. He won't know. Easy. All right, last one. Why do you guys not ask each other personal slash intimate questions when you hang out? You only ask about surface level and stuff and sports. You don't talk about each other's wives and lives or how you've been feeling. You're missing out on a whole part of life. And why do you always feel like you have to go it alone? Damn, that's deep. Very deep. Because it's easier.
2:18:44PFT Commenter:I've said this before, so I went to dinner with four of my closest friends on Friday night, and I do this trick now. At the end of dinner, I'm just like, hey, give me a fact. Give me something about your wife, kids, work, that I can bring back and report so it seems like we had a deep conversation. When the majority of the conversation was like Max Crosby to the Ravens, and I think that was about it. The thing is, guys, it's like when we hang out with our friends, that's what we have to get away from all the other stuff. So when you hang out with the boys, then you don't want to bring all the other stuff to the boys' conversation.
2:19:22It's also just not that deep, I feel like. It's like you just want to hang out with the boys and not get serious. I have friends that golf with that. I don't even know what they do. Yeah. It's better to not know what your friends do. We don't hang out outside, but it's like we're boys. That's my boy.
2:19:38PFT Commenter:Also, let's just be totally honest here. A lot of the conversation with the boys is wildly inappropriate when you take it out of context with the boys. There's shit that's said that I wouldn't say around other people, so you can't just be bringing that outside the locker room. That's the real truth is if you're golfing with your boys, 90 % of that kit is not for air What'd you guys talk about? Tits Yeah It's not for air Tits back in the day Yeah Dude I love First boob Some of my best friends in the whole world Like I could just sit and we just don't talk It's awesome Unless you're like that I feel like the deep conversations only come like When you're Someone's really drunk And it's like the end of the night And then that even gets uncomfortable And then you're like alright Yeah That's too much sometimes I think I gotta go to bed Yeah you're like I can't solve these problems.
2:20:26PFT Commenter:It's either like super late at night inside a bathroom stall. Yeah. I'm happy. I'm sorry you're having these problems, but I got to go to bed. Yeah. Guys don't need to talk like that. It's actually the reverse is true, too. Like, girls, you don't need to know everyone's business all the time. Gets a little much. How do you hold all the facts together? Why do you care? Why do you care? Worry about yourself. Women do have like, I think it's just something that will never make sense to the opposite gender of like, I can have friends that like, we just never get on a deep level and they're my best friends and I die for them.
2:21:06PFT Commenter:And then women can have friends that they get on a deep level and they hate. And then sometimes they'll be like, I think they get jealous because they want to know, they get upset that we don't know all the details about all the drama with our friends. That's where they want to get involved and just know about the drama. That's like a new channel that they can watch. It's like, oh, I haven't seen this show with the boys drama. That's where my fact gathering comes into play. Yeah. I just get a little a little one sheet of facts and I come back and I'll tell you what the hardest part about going out to like dinner with my friends is the drive home trying to hold all the facts in my head until I get home and I can spit them all out.
2:21:44Yeah, because I forget them almost instantly after that. They want to know about the boys' drama so they can talk about the boys' drama.
2:21:51PFT Commenter:Yeah. I just like, I'm sitting there like repeating it, making mnemonic devices for like where my friend works and what age his kid is. Come on. I just blurted it all out. Like, oh, all right. We're done. Good. No follow-ups. No follow-up questions, please. Okay. Good show, boys. Anything else? Anything else? Nothing else? How about that hat Mims is wearing? He also just put on some more clothes. What clothes? Oh, you put on more clothes, Memes? What kind of clothes? Fashion show. Just a sweatshirt. Give us a fashion show. Stand up. What's a sweatshirt? It's a Seattle. Oh, wow. That's a cool shirt.
2:22:31Yeah, very cool shirt. Oh, yeah. Where are you getting this stuff? Oh, we sell them in the Barstool store. Oh. Memes love sweatshirts. Memes is basically Africa because no one buys that shit, so they just ship them to him. Memes is Africa. Not racist. Memes is Africa. That would be... Yeah, that would be... No, you're wrong. That would be New England Patriots. That would be New England Patriots Super Bowl. No, but no one buys Seattle stuff. No, but Max is right. Because Seattle is a bad sports town with shitty fans. Oh! They didn't sell any. You talking about the 12s? Yeah. The who's? The 12s.
2:23:04You know the 12s. That's how many of those shirts we sold.
2:23:11PFT Commenter:That's good, Hank. You're a funny guy, Hank. You're a funny guy. Well, memes didn't buy it. Memes got donated. Exactly I feel like today's name is like winning Africa Someone's gonna get it today Championship of Africa 23 I'm gonna go with 50 12 56 88 89 86 Puna Puna Shout out Puna We got Cole Strange Great player
2:23:57PFT Commenter:72 One more 72 Yeah let's do one more 72 23
2:24:06PFT Commenter:We gotta get We gotta get someone to break the seal As long as it's not memes Memes breaking the seal would be Brighter for everybody
