In short
Pardon My Take episode previewing NHL Stanley Cup playoffs and NBA playoff matchups, reacting to NBA play-in results, debating whether the play-in is a “gimmick,” making DraftKings NBA parlay picks, and discussing golf’s Live Golf future (plus World Cup/tailgating complaints). It also includes a segment of “Firefest” (the show’s weekly “Great Friday” bit) and a long, comedic argument about how to interpret “games above .500.”
Guests (and backgrounds)
Keith Yandle (NHL veteran defenseman; appears as the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs analyst/host guest). Francisco Lindor (New York Mets shortstop; appears in studio). The main hosts are Max, Hank, PFT, and others (recurring booth crew).
Key claims
- The NBA play-in is criticized as a gimmick that gives owners extra home games and fans a false sense of title chances.
- Philadelphia is “officially in” after a decisive play-in win over Orlando; the Sixers then face Boston.
- Debate claim: Andre Drummond’s age (32) is surprising; hosts joke he might be better than Joel Embiid, but Max pushes back.
- Live Golf may be ending soon, but the CEO says the tour continues through the end of the year; the hosts call earlier “it’s over” reports fake.
- World Cup logistics in the U.S. (ticket price hikes, no tailgating at multiple venues) will make it suck.
Notable examples
- Sixers vs Magic play-in: “decisive” Sixers win; Andre Drummond “dagger” three.
- Warriors vs Clippers play-in: Draymond’s defense on Kawhi; Steph’s late/third-quarter surge.
- LaMelo Ball dirty play debate (suspension vs slap-on-the-wrist).
- DraftKings parlay examples: Anthony Edwards 4+ threes; James Harden 3+ threes; Luke Kennard 19 points/rebounds/assists; plus other Saturday picks.

3:38Welcome to Pardon My Take presented by DraftKings. The crown is yours. Today is Friday, April 17th, and it's set, boys. Max versus Hank. The Philadelphia 76ers have won the play-in game against the Orlando Magic. Decisively. It was a decisive victory. I got to say, so I'm in a little bit of a spot because I've said this before many times that I think the play-in, I hate the play-in in terms of its existence, that we've now made it 10 teams get a shot and owners can cling to the fact that they were the 10th team and they played in the playoffs, all that. The games themselves do rock. Yeah. And it is fun watching an elimination game, which we watched with the Clippers and Warriors, which you can get to.
4:29But now the Sixers are officially in. I agree. I think in theory the play-in game is a crock of shit. It's a gimmick that was dreamed up to give the owners one more home game and make you think that if you finish in 10th place, you have a shot at winning the NBA title, which you don't. But I think that once you get in, I don't like the people policing the teams and fans celebrating winning the play-in game. I think that's a good thing. When we had the T-Wolves win it a couple years ago. It depends on, I think it's organization by organization. The Hornets, yes, celebrate. Celebrate the fuck out of that.
5:04You guys have had, and they're not even in yet. We'll know on Friday night if they're officially, officially in. Right. But yes, the Hornets, that's an organization that should celebrate that. The Blazers, they should celebrate that. The Clippers, no. I mean, they lost, but like, no. The Warriors, no. They've been there, done that. Act like they've been there before. Yeah, right. The Sixers should celebrate it. Absolutely. Because now you get a shot at the Celtics. Now you get a shot at the Crown. Yeah. And Max, it was a decisive victory. Max, he looked awesome. Play in pee, looked pretty good too.
5:34Andre Drummond might be better than Embiid. Andre Drummond. I mean, Max. Massive three at the end. Andre Drummond. Dagger three. Andre Drummond. Love it. Andre Drummond. So, Max, you're pumped. The bank was rocking. The bank was rocking. What's the name of the stadium? The Bell House. It's the Xfinity Center. They just changed. The X. The X, yeah. The everything arena. It's all happening. It's all happening at the X. Yeah. Do you know what's crazy about Andre Drummond is that he and Joel Embiid are the same age? What? Yeah. That is crazy. Isn't that fucking wild? You could have won a lot of money off me.
6:13They're both 32 years old. Andre Drummond turns 33 in August. Joel Embiid turned 32. They're like six months apart. Drummond seems so much older. He's been around forever. He's been on a bunch of teams. And you just see him. You're like, yeah, that guy, he's on his last leg. No, he's 32 years old. He's my age. Yeah. He's younger. I saw someone shout out my guy, No Escalators, who's a very good. He's a UConn fan account. And he put out this tweet that also put me in a spiral. Andre Drummond's younger than Aaron Judge. That's crazy, too. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, you just don't even think about it. It's more about baseball for the longest time.
6:54Nobody played in baseball. Andre Drummond, if we asked everyone before this, we would say he's 36. Yeah. Like, you know. But yeah. He's on. Yeah. So Andre Drummond might be better than Joel Embiid. The Sixers, Max, 2-2 against the Celtics this year. I'm not going to allow you to say Andre Drummond is better than Joel Embiid. Right now. Max, question. He still has his appendix. Best ability is availability. Max, I was, yeah, Hank took my question. Sorry. But I was going to let Max answer it open-ended, what your best ability is. Well, this bit is now dead because Hank just did the bit before you.
7:30You can still answer the question. Why are you so defensive? Are you afraid of answering that question? You've got both your teams in the playoffs. This side of the desk has no teams in the playoffs. Yeah, Max. Max, I root for a loser. You can always just say that about me, okay? I've rooted for the Bulls to lose in the play in the last five years. I'm very happy the Bulls finally tanked and have a 20 % chance at a top four pick. I'm happy that they're in the playoffs. I'm not happy that I just have to deal with fuckface Hank over here. When obviously they're the better team, they're going to win.
7:58And if it goes five games, it's a disappointment to the Celtics. That's according to Boston media. And now I just have to deal with it. And he's just going to be rubbing it in my face as if he isn't in the position of obviously – It's a rebuild year for us. Our star player played like 20 games. It's not a rebuild year. It is not a rebuild year. Don't try to do that. We're going to a gap year. It is not a rebuild year. No, it's 100 % must win. Yeah, you guys are the favorites to win the East. Max, I have a question. Yeah. You guys are minus 700 to win this series. Max. Yes. I have a question. PFT.
8:37I said yes. Okay. Yeah, Max. After the game, I saw a lot of the fans in Philadelphia saying, we want Boston. We want Boston. Good question. We want Boston. Do you want Boston? Nope. Next question. Can I ask? Yep. Mr. Cat. Yeah. Would you say this series is a can lose or a could win? It is a loss. No, no, but it's a can lose or could win.
9:07We don't have our best player. Andre Drummond's fine. I think it's a might win or could lose. Memes. Stop saying you don't have your best player. Andre Drummond's fine. Have the Celtics ever lost in the playoffs as massive favorites? Great question. Five out of the last six years. Great question. by me. Was that a, Hank, can I ask a question to Hank? Yeah, uh, Mr. Cat? Yeah, uh, Hank, was that a question for memes or Connor? That's Connor. Yeah, Hank is doing government names on memes. I gotta, we gotta, I gotta just protect Zach, I'm worried about, like, the virus. The booth virus. Of Connor?
9:42And, and Christopher. Oh, okay. What do you, what did I, I, what have I done to you other than just. You just call me fuckface. Yeah, well, you are fuckface. You are fuckface. You're 100 % a fuck face. Everyone agrees you're a fuck face. That's fair. This is the virus that I... No, no, no. What I said is 1 ,000 % fair. Hank, I got a question for you. That virus... We watched a game in February where you were doing twos in your forehead after every layup made. No, no. You being a fuck face is not a virus. It's law. Like, it's written in ink. Everyone agrees. Fuck face. Hank, I got a question. Zach has a question.
10:22He's been raising his hand very patiently. I'm asking for Hank. Hank, you have to call on somebody. PFT. Okay. I don't get the government name. That's only for the booth guys. Hank. Connor and Christopher. Henry. The two C's. Have you thought about how this is going to look if you happen to lose against the Sixers? Yeah. Because you are in full-on cocky Hank mode. Yeah. Where I can tell that you actually are not worried about the Sixers. Never have been. Definitely am not this year. The jerseys were cool last night. Credit to Philadelphia and the Sixers. They looked cool. That's very nice of you.
11:02That was a good compliment. They're great jerseys. Awesome jerseys. The court was kind of glowing. If they lose, the summer's over. You're not going to. That just made it move a little bit. Yeah, let's unpack that a little bit. What does the summer's over mean? I will just – it will – like, I guess the spring is over. Yeah, no, I mean, this would be an absolute devastation for you. I'm going to be in a dark hole for two full months of just like having to watch basketball games in pain. Max, this is the approach you have to. You're 16 seed right now. Like, no one's expecting it, but if you somehow beat the Celtics, this is the – you just own.
11:48Hint. I've also already said if we beat the Celtics, that's an NBA finals. I don't care what happens the rest of it. I also, again, not worried. Weapon mode coach the other day had me fired up, completely fired up. But I did, again, you have to think about the worst-case scenario. It would be – it would happen at Max's bachelor party. If the Celtics were going to leave, it would probably be Game 7. Yeah. We'll do that Saturday. Oh, my God. That would be a real shame. That would be incredible. I have a question. We're going to get a Game 7, and the Celtics are going to win. I have a question. That's just how this goes.
12:28I have a question. I have a question. I have a question. We're not getting a Game 7. Max, okay. I would rather four. I agree with you. Me too. You're big-time underdogs. Sixers have not been good this year. Again, two and two against Celtics. And MB doesn't have an appendix. But Andre Drummond is 32. Andre Drummond's not even starting. Andre Drummond is 32 years old, and he's good. Max, how many games in this series do you have to win to be roped in? Two. I've already said one will not move the needle. One will not move the needle. One of those games won. No. In Boston. No, that's the one that I think is – that's what they want to try and make you move the needle.
13:12They want to get you with game one. That's a lie. If they win game one, you're roped in. Yeah, I think if you win. But I'm telling myself right now it's two. But it's not. But it's probably one. If you win game two, and it's tied, I think at any point if this series is tied after 0-0, you're going to start to get roped in. It also depends what Embiid's status is. If it's like we split in Boston. Stop saying Andre Drummond. If they split in Boston and it's like, oh yeah, Embiid's coming back for game three, then maybe. Would he start behind Andre Drummond? Zach, you had a question? Sixth man of the year.
13:48My question was going to be how many games, but if you do win game one, are you going – where do the odds you just go 100 %? What if you just buy in? Just let's do it. We've already done this with the Celtics. We've won game one against the Celtics. It's a different year. Different season, Max. Yeah, that team was better. Okay, this is all just an exercise in lying to ourselves because we know once the ball is tipped, Max is going to get into max mode. I don't know. I don't think so. He's been very down, rightfully so, on the Sixers this year. When the ball's in play, Max is going to be Max. The only difference, Max, because we were having this discussion off air, like how when the Bulls would get into play, and I would be like, I don't want to go get just fucking killed by whoever's actually in the playoffs.
14:31The only difference I would say is the Sixers do have good players. Like Tyrese Maxey is really good. Paul George, playoff P, Andre Drummond, They have these VJ Edgecombe. That's the guy that like if VJ has a game where he looks fucking awesome, that would get me excited. That would get me in. You know what I like about VJ Edgecombe? And Maxi too, but Maxi does it every game and it's just never enough. So it's like I feel bad for him because he plays so hard and he plays so well every game, but the team just isn't good enough. Besides the dunking, my favorite part about VJ Edgecombe is when he shoots a terrible three and then immediately points at himself.
15:09He's like, hey, that one's on me, guys. Like when he shoots an air ball, he will let everybody know like, hey, that one's my fault. A lot of accountability for that guy. Yeah, he's an accountable guy. He said he's not scared of anyone. He's ready to defend the best player no matter who that is. I got a question. So he's going to defend Jalen Brown? Probably, yeah. I have a question. This is for Connor or Zachariah. Would you guys rather play the Sixers or the Celtics? Celtics. Wow I've been fucking thinking about this For like two months I've been thinking about it in the shower It makes me smile every single time Wow You just want it bad Look at that fucking face Are you thinking about the Celtics in the bath No I'm not The Knicks are coming That was such a difficult game for me to watch last night Because I watch and I root for my team to win but it's like in the back of my head, I would be like, well, if you lose this game, it's not the worst thing.
16:12Yes, that's where I hate the play-in. That's because anyone who's in the play-in is not a good team. I wanted to make the playoffs. I just wanted to play the Pistons instead of the Celtics. Yeah. Oh, so you're scared of the Celtics. Yes. The Celtics have dominated me. Dominated me. Why would I think that anything different would happen? Two and two this year. By the way, you never know. Can we talk about the game real quick? The Magic are the biggest bummer in the world to watch. That team stinks. They just play basketball that's not fun to watch. Paolo stinks. Paolo was so bad. He was like 7 for 22.
16:49It's like my turn, your turn offense. Bummer. Bummer team to watch. I don't know what happened to them. Last year, they played a fun brand of basketball. I can't wait to watch this team grow up and continue to get better. and then last night it was like just ended at halftime. Yeah. I don't know. It feels like they need like a true distributor. And they were close. I'm not saying that. No, Desmond Bain was the guy. Desmond Bain was whapping some rainbow threes that kept it close. I'm not saying that the Sixers blew them out. What I'm saying is just like it felt like they felt like a bummer even when they were winning the game.
17:25It didn't feel like there was any positive vibes at all coming from Orlando. Yeah. Max, maybe ride the momentum. You're 1-0 in the playoffs so far. Yep. True. Celtics, if you had to win a playoff game this year? If it were Sixers-Celtics game seven, me and my brothers would be. My brothers would have you. And fucking Jerry. Yeah, and Jerry. We'd have to break the no documentation rule on your bachelor party. We'd have to. We'd have to. We'd have to get some clips out for the people. The people would demand clips. Yeah, yes, yes. Demand clips. Is that the gift from the Battle of the Bastards? where it's one guy against the entire army?
18:04That is Hank. You're taking on the entire Delenti family? Yeah. Woo! If there is... Jon Snow came on top. Also, Jon Snow, the other day, quick omission, I said he was south, he was the north. Oh, okay. King of the north. Nice. You really... Yeah, very much king of the north. You just want to support the south. Yeah. If God is in AWL, he will give us this. He will deliver us this. I'm convinced he is. Yeah. He hated fantasy fuckboys. He hated it. He hated it. Okay, other playing games. But I also wouldn't want to. It's like, I mean. Yes, you would. Yes, you would. But it's Max's bachelor party.
18:39I do like Max. I want him to have fun. You want to. But if it gets to game seven. It's not going to get to game seven. Yeah, you're right. All right. All right. Official predictions for the series. I did put out a poll last night on X.com, the everything app. It's all happening on X. And I said, who you got? Celtic Sixers. I used Hank, your workout picture as a logo for the Celtics, and then Max Soulpatch for the Sixers. Right now, it's at 50-50. It is a perfect split amongst the AWLs. I would assume mostly AWLs that voted on this. And yeah. Max. 50-50. Nobody. We don't know. Max. You just think about it this way.
19:21Just break it down this way. You get one Tyrese Maxey game. You get two Andre Drummond games. and then maybe Embiid's back to help chip in a little bit for the VJ Edgecombe playoff P game. Yeah, I mean, if you think about it like that, two Andre Drummond games. Two Andre Drummond games could happen. Yeah. I think you can get four maxi games. You might be able to. Okay, you know what? Let's do picks for what we'll do. Are we doing a parlay for this weekend? 20:35This is game one. Game one on Saturday. Four plus threes. All right, should we just do Saturday? Should we just do it Saturday? Plus 145. Yeah. Want to make it a Saturday parlay? I've got a very similar bet to that, Hank. I've got James Harden over three and a half threes plus 165. Game one Harden? Game one Harden, yes. Game one Harden. Yeah. I like that a lot. Okay. And then I'll have my pick. I'm going to go with... You ready for this one? You ready for this one? It's going to be Luke Kennard. 19 points, rebounds, and assists. Whoa. Okay. They don't have guys. He's got to get some usage. Okay, Max, what's yours?
21:20I am going to take... I'm going to ride my guy. Drummond? Yeah, you will. Drummond? No. No. It's Saturday games. Yeah. It's Saturday games. But we'll make a Drummond exception. No, we won't make it. We don't need to do a Drummond exception. McHale Bridge is 13-plus points. Okay. All right. Sounds good. Bet it on the DraftKings Sportsbook. Did you see that Luka and Cade Cunningham got a special exemption, so they will be eligible for postseason, or, yeah, postseason, not the postseason awards? I did see that. So Luka got his because he had sex. Yeah. And he missed a couple games because he had a kid.
21:57Yep. And then Cade got his because, like, in the spirit of the rule, he tried. His lung collapsed. His lung collapsed. Yeah. He tried to play as much as he could. Correct. And then did you see that PFT was right? Wimby's game that he had for the NBA Cup championship, that counted towards that 65 mark. The stats inside the game do not count for his season totals. Really dumb rule. Very dumb rule. Does it make it all count or none of it count? And I think Anthony Edwards, he's appealing whether or not his season should count. And then I think he got rejected in the first round, so they're going through an appeal of his...
22:33How the hell did we get here? I don't know. It's just like they tried to say that the Stars should not sit out games ever. And then it just kind of backfired on them. So the other playing games, the Warriors Clippers, it was essentially like going to seeing the Rolling Stones in 2026, where you're like, yeah, you know, look, they're old. They're not the same, but the songs still rock. Yeah. Draymond locking down Kawhi is awesome. Awesome. Steph hitting, just getting nuclear in the third quarter and then hitting an improbable, but not for Steph, three to win the game. It was awesome. And Steve Kerr even said it after.
23:16He's like, we felt like ourselves for one night. And I just, like, the Warriors aren't going to do anything in the playoffs, but it was a reminder how awesome Steph and Draymond are and how much fun it is to watch them play basketball, especially Steph. and it's just like, man, I'm going to miss this when it's gone. And cherish the good old days while we still got a little bit left. It's pretty amazing at the end, yeah. The way that Draymond single-handedly won the game on defense at the end just by locking up Kawhi for the last two minutes of the game. He did absolutely nothing. And then after the game, I saw Steve Kerr said that Draymond is the best defender that he's ever seen.
23:54I mean, he was incredible. Which is crazy, but it's not. But when you think about the guys that Steve Kerr has been around, I mean, he probably has four of the top ten. I don't know analytics, all that stuff, but just off the top of my head, it's probably four of the top ten or fifteen defenders of all time that he played with. I think so, because you got... Maybe five. Because you got David Robinson, you got Tim Duncan, you got... Dennis Rodman. Dennis Rodman. Scottie Pippen. Scottie Pippen, Michael Jordan. I would say Bruce Bowen, too, right? Yeah, but it's crazy. So that might have been Bruce Bowen might have been too late for him.
24:31But the point stands, which is like Draymond is that good at defense. He's he's incredible. He put Kawhi in a torture chamber and Kawhi even said it after. He was just like, I couldn't even get a shot up. He admitted it. So the Clippers, listen, I think you just got to have one more year with Kawhi and just see how it goes. They are since Kawhi or the last five seasons, Kawhi on the Clippers 2022 missed the playoffs. I know there's injuries and all this weird shit that happens. 22 missed the playoffs, 23 lost in first round, 24 lost in first round, 25 lost in first round, 26 missed the playoffs.
25:06Got to give it one more year. Maybe it will work. It's going to be really interesting to see what happens with the NBA's investigation too. Yeah. Because we have no idea what the outcome of that's going to be. It could be bad. I think Kawhi is a perfect example of make sure if you're a really, really good basketball player, one of the best of this generation, just make sure you win your rings early enough that people can you're unassailable because the last five years have not been great but then you're just like yeah he was what he did with the raptors what he did with the spurs he won two final mvps like you can't he is a playoff killer he just hasn't been the raptors that really made it that that defined his career it's like you can you can never say anything that shot you remember yeah because you remember that shot that he had against the sixers that was crazy that was an absolutely crazy shot the the craziest part though about last night and it was it was so much fun again to watch steph and draymond do their thing the clippers losing that game they now forfeit their pick to the thunder uh and the thunder have a seven percent chance to move into the top four great good there's a world where the oklahoma city thunder could have the number one pick in the nba draft great that's what adam This is all from the Paul George trade, which is maybe one of the worst trades of all time.
26:25Adam Silver wants to fix the NBA. Just take over some of the Thunder picks for the good of the league. And this is the last pick swap part of the Paul George trade. But if you thought it was over, I'm pretty sure the Thunder have another one with the Clippers next year because of James Harden. Can we do the one lottery sim real quick? It's crazy. They also have the Sixers first round pick this year. Oh, man. It's in the balls. Milwaukee. The Bucs. Milwaukee. And the Pelicans. Okay. Where's Jazz? Jazz? Dallas, that would be not right. Ooh, I'd take that. Let's go Wiz. Bulls number four. Wiz number one.
27:10I'd sign up for that right now. Ooh, Bulls number two. The Bulls also got the big play-in game night for the Bulls on Tuesday night because Kobe White was a – it was like as much as the Bulls, I was so happy they weren't in the play-in. It's like, hey, let's make sure that we have our fingers all over this because Kobe White making a huge three for the Hornets and then the Blazers winning and then they give the pick to the Bulls. The Bulls now have two first-rounders. Yeah. So that's a big win. But the Hornets game was awesome. I do think – I think LaMelo Ball should be suspended. Okay. I think that it's good that we're talking about it.
Read the full transcript
27:48Yeah. Yeah, but it was so dirty. It was a very dirty play. I don't think he should be suspended. I think slap on the wrist for now. Here's why I think he should be suspended. I think it should always be like, bam, went out for the game. Right. But you can't base a suspension on what happens after you do the thing, can you? No. In my rules, yes. In my rules, it's hockey. If there's blood, he has to sit out. In my rules, if you injure a player with a dirty play, you are out for as long as that player's out. But what if you injure a player who's constantly injured? Like Joel Embiid. Are you going to be like, oh, that's really bad.
28:26You got to get your appendix out. You got to get emergency surgery. But what if you do them a favor by injuring their player and then they got an impact sub like Drummond that comes in? Then you get one get-out-of-suspension free card to keep in your pocket? Maybe. You guys agree. That was incredibly dirty. It's very dirty, yeah. It's incredibly, incredibly dirty. But I also think about this, Big Cat. If you're looking out for the safety of the greater Charlotte area, you would rather have LaMelo Ball at the game, not out there on the streets. True. That's a good point. It's also so entertaining.
28:59Yeah, look, I'm happy the Hornets won. I'm just calling out that exact play. There are plays that happen where someone gets injured and you're like, there's nothing they could have done. He swept the leg. It was dirty. You want a series of the Hornets. We just talked about the magic. Yeah, yeah. No, I'm rooting. You got to look the other way for the sake of your own entertainment watching. 100 % rooting for the Hornets. And they also survived just a horrible con canipple night where he got benched. And the Heat are a bummer. Pat Riley, I think, said they're going to go and try to find a guy this year who'll be their number one player, number one option.
29:39The Heat have been just playing way, I'd say, way above where they should be, even by making the play-in games all these years. They have not had a good roster. No. And then the Blazers, big win for the Blazers, taking down Colton's sons. Blazers are fun, too. They got some fun young players. Denny, I didn't like that our friend Tommy Alter had that interview with Denny. Did you see that clip where Denny's like, yeah, I was shocked the Bulls didn't take me. they took Patrick Williams instead and no one knew who that was. No, I didn't see that. And then he went and dropped a 40 piece in the play in game.
30:16Yeah. He's awesome. Denny's a good player. Former wizard. I'm okay with trading Denny away though. Yeah. We both fucked that up. We both fucked up Denny. We had him. And then we were like, okay, we'll try to build around Denny for a little bit. Yeah. And I think I actually think that Denny might be like the perfect guy to get you to that seven seed. Yeah. If he's your main guy. Do you guys want to do it? What are you laughing at? You don't give a fuck about the Wizards. I would like the Wizards to be good. You can't build around that guy, can you? No, that's what I'm saying. I don't mind that trade.
30:47Dude, next year at this time. Memes, we're saying the same thing. We had him, and then now people are retroactively looking at the Wizards getting rid of him and being like, oh, they fucked that up by getting rid of him. I'm okay with it. This is also the same guy that we couldn't remember his name. I'm fine with retroactively saying that Patrick Williams was a bad pick that we all knew kind of at the time, and then giving him an extension was even worse. I have a question for PFT. Henry. This time, fast forward one year from today, what seed are the Wizards going into the playoffs? I think we're going to be the fun play-in team.
31:18Nice. We're going to be the Hornets. With Anthony Davis and Trey Young? Yeah, the fun young play-in team. Young, very young. Anthony Davis. It was very funny listening to Anthony Davis in his exit interview this year. They asked him if he wanted to play in D.C. next year. He's like, I'm encouraged by some things, but I want to see more about what the plan's going to be. Anthony Davis is the main part of the plan. Yeah. That's a guy that you plan around. Correct. Now, I'm planning around him being healthy. I think he's going to turn it all around. I think next year is the year that he puts it all together and he's able to get out there and play that 65 games and make him eligible for an award.
31:57But yeah, with a high draft pick, I think with the young core, I will be a Wizards fan, but they have to earn my trust. in my fandom and at this point i don't think that it's a play-in game would warrant that you yeah you can call me a fairweather fan i would probably agree with you that i'm maybe even worse than a fairweather fan but i think it's deserved with that franchise like i'd be i'd be fucking insane if i watched every single wizards game how many people out there have watched every wizards game this season and then out of that group how many of them have what you would call a well-adjusted constructive life probably zero right no sane person watches every wizards game nor should they yeah i'm not going to put myself or subject myself to even watching half their games or a quarter of their games until they show that they have a winning product or at least a product that can get exciting and i think that with anthony davis and trey young anthony davis trey young uh trey johnson uh bub carrington sar that's a good young core add in a high draft pick next year will be like the eight seed.
32:58Sounds like you're a little scared. I want Boston next year. Do you guys want to do a little embrace debate that's probably the dumbest thing that I've ever come across? Well, at least for, let's say, in the last month because I come across a lot of dumb shit. It reminded me of, remember the old, you loved it, PFT, the body forum debate, when the week, how many days in the week? Yeah, how many, bodybuilding.com. How many weekdays in the week? Yeah, this is mind-numbing, but maybe I'm stupid. You ready for this? So this is from Jacob Grimena. He screenshotted a comment that was talking about an NBA team, and he said this person, Dirtslayer123, said, hate to nitpick because I like the content plenty, but 46 and 36 is only five games above 500, not 10.
33:52and then there was an entire discussion. The Raptors were 46 and 36 this year. Is that 10 games above 500 or five games above 500? And people were actually arguing that it's five games above 500. Am I crazy? If they had lost five, if they had lost, how many wins did you say, 46? They're 46 and 36. So thought experiment. What's going on in the comments? I'm trying to do a thought experiment. Let's do a thought experiment. If they had lost five of those games, of the 46 games that they won, would their record be 41 and 41, or would it be 41 and 36? Right. But 10 games above, like, that's 10 games above 500.
34:42I think it might be a basketball-baseball debate. Baseball, you never say. No. You would say you're 10 games above 500. If there's 82 games in a season. Yeah. what would 50-50 be? 41 and 41. So if you add five games to 41... That's not how you say it. So this is really a thing, I guess. I'm on yours. You say 10 games. You say 10 games at 500. If you lose the next 10 games, you'd be 500. You very conveniently did not answer my thought experiment. No, I get what you're saying because the season's over, but you're 10 games above 500. If you're 20 and 10, are you 10 games above 500 or are you five games above 500?
35:27If the outcome of five of those games have been different, you would be 500. So this is what some of the dumb people in the comments are arguing. It's my number. I'm 100 % just being a dickhead about it. No one in history has ever said that you're five games above 500. A lot of people are. Here is my favorite exchange. This guy replied, if they had lost five more games, your argument, if they lost five more games, it'd be 41 and 41 so five games about 500 and then he replied if they lost five games it'd be 46 and 41 they go back and forth uh and someone said by this logic a 41 and 40 team is a half game under 500 and he and the person replied that's right for that part just fucked me up like if you're nine and eight in an nfl season you're one game you're one game above 500 yeah yes so that's the same thing the same lot so yeah i agree with that if you're 41 and 40 yeah and you lost and you flipped a loss for a win for a loss you'd be a half game okay now i see where it's going yeah the person said that's right yeah that's right yeah now so and then he replied so a team with one more win than a loss would be under 500 even though they quite literally won more games than they lost so now it's like yeah we're getting into some metaphysical shit because you could say in the in the raptors case if they didn't have 46 wins let's say they're they were missing five of those wins yeah that could also be because those games never happened it could be because the games weren't played then they would be 41 and 36 meaning at that point they're five games above 500 yeah i just the absence of a win does not necessarily indicate the presence of a loss it's the dumbest argument like i said i i i happened upon it and i was i bookmarked it because i was like holy shit this is this is incredible i do think and i think i know you're trolling i think hank is serious i think he actually thinks it's five games above 500 hank's never been in that position because his teams always win the it really is comes down to max don't you agree it comes down to like baseball fans versus basketball like baseball fans you would never say i don't think anyone yeah no there's so many people who are saying this in here those people are it's crazy they just have never talked about records before it's crazy they're all saying it they said this one guy said i'm calling it five games above 500 i thought that was pretty standard a 10 and 0 team is not 10 games above 500 that's silly yes they are yeah they are i i i like to think that there's a lot of trolling going on in that thread but there's a lot of seriousness i'm gonna have to inject myself because you're what the argument that you threw out there is what people are actually going with where they're like oh well wins become losses so then you're only five games above it that's how exactly how you would argue it if you're a moron yeah uh okay other stories before we get to our interviews talk some nhl playoffs and we have francisco lindor hank would you like to comment on live golf yeah the mexico city open is uh is this week it's a big event bryson shambles looking to become the first player in live golf history to win three events in a row so story history in the making yeah um comments for real wars man war is bad okay war is bad go on war is destroying live golf league that's the real problem with war not the lives lost yeah i mean a lot of live lives are being lost yeah the lives are being lost yeah how many lives is it going to take until we say until we say no more like Like, Hank is, when you think about it, Hank is that guy in Tiananmen Square standing in front of the tank.
39:09There was an element of, like, fake news yesterday, by the way. Oh, yeah. For people. Yeah, go for it. Who I like. He's a great follow. Very, like, dedicated. This guy is, I think his Twitter name is, like, Monday Q Info. Ace is one-on-one golf or something. But he just basically, he, like, follows, like, you can Monday qualify to get into PGA Tour events. he follows the Monday qualifiers like reports on it talks to like corn fairy guys and is like very very into the weeds of golf and qualifying for these events he was the one that broke it he was like I have inside sources that are saying live is is ending and you know if like take the under basically on like whatever you heard like it's ending soon and he said that in the Twitter spaces then it felt like throughout the rest of the day the golf and like all media aggregate accounts just started posting that as fact So then everyone was just like, live golf is over.
40:03Like that was the sentiment. Not you. I mean, even I was like, this seems bad because it's like I saw it from him not confirm, confirm. But then when all the other news outlets start saying that, it's like, maybe this is true. This could be the end of live. So that like when you tweeted at Big Cat, like you guys were all saying like it was over. Then the powers that be at live met in Mexico City. and the CEO or whatever said that the tour's going on, this weekend's going on. Everyone's been getting paid. That was fake. Voter confidence. And we're going until the end of the year. We're still playing 54 holes.
40:4272. 72? And we're still wearing shorts. Wait, they changed it? When did they do that? This year. So it's going on for the rest of the year. That's like when a CEO is like, hey, everything is fine with the company. I just need everybody to put in like 25 % extra overtime and we can't pay more. But we're all pulling on the same rope here. Yeah. And I'm probably talking a little over my head now. I'm not a geopolitical guy, but. No. It seems like the PIF and all the Saudi money, they are redirecting their money. The war is taking its toll. Flag football? I don't know. I don't know. They're pulling the plug on that too.
41:25Oh, really? brady's flag it's in it's in danger oh no the war yeah the war the war the war in the middle east has has taken its toll oil money prices or some shit yeah the straight of her moves which whatever uh no no no no no no i need you no no no do not whatever that this is this is this is a joke uh i the i was watching survivor and and and the trump press conference came on in the middle of it and i was i wanted to tweet like no one gives a fuck about the straight of her moves like with the current survivor back on uh that was a joke but but no i i think i was mad i was like why like we're about to go to tribal right now like and we're talking about the straight of her I think that maybe Live Golf was in jeopardy because of the war, but then they found out that we were actually going to put a blockade on their blockade.
42:24It was going to be a double blockade. And then MBS was like, okay, we're back. We're back. We solved that. That was close. But regardless, it seems like this will probably be the last year for Live. Unless it can get money from outside sources. You guys interested? and investing in a failing golf league. I'm dealing with Wisconsin athletics right now. I'm kind of tied up. That's not failing. Well, then why do they need money from outside sources? Because they're not getting money from the Saudis. Got it. And so it's failing in that. How much money did they make last year? What was their profit last year?
42:59Four shrewp bucks. I think it was somewhere in England. They've said that they've gotten... In England alone, I think it was negative $500 million. I mean, you don't know how to run a business. That's actually a good thing. Oh, yeah, that's right. That's right. You know what? They've gotten sponsors. They've done stuff. And also the memories we made along the way. You can't put a price tag on those. No. Like the time that John Rahm wore shorts. Yeah, PFT made a natural eagle in Chicago. That was outside of that. They actually emailed. They actually hit up one of our sales guys, and he was like, Liv wants to send you a bunch of stuff.
43:39What's your address? Because they need to clear out the warehouses? I just hope they sent it. I was hoping it was going to be here today. I don't think MBS would chop things up and sell them for parts. I will say, if Liv has any banners that they want to sell us, I will absolutely buy a Smash GC 2025 championship banner. We got to go back and look through all the promotional shit that they did. My favorite Liv memory, I think, was when Bryson came out on stage at a rock concert. I think it was also at a golf tournament. and then he like jumped up and was like let's go Connor Bryson talking about the I don't want you because you're saying lives not dead EBTIA whatever so we gotta wait we're not gonna do I told Hank on Monday or Tuesday I said I want your top 10 live memories but sounds like we're gonna survive this season so I don't want you to do it yet this season's gonna be epic oh it's gonna be one to remember where are we going next Mexico City and then where not sure okay so probably like Singapore yeah you got the schedule down.
44:36This question's for Hank. Can you name every ace ever to this point? Alright. We got Dustin Johnson. We got Pat Perez. Harold Varner. Peter Uline. Twin Thomas's. Thomas Peters. Thomas Dietry. Anthony Kim.
45:06He's lost right now. He found a doo-wop band. How many more are they? We don't know. You can't even find it. I got eight. There's definitely a few more. I don't think Gooch was a four ace. This is so hard. Wait. Oh, okay. We're just going to have to go off the AI. You forgot Oliver Becker, Sean Norris, and Kevin Yuan. Those guys were never aces. Did you get Miguel Tabuena? Never an ace. You got the two Toms. You got Harold Varner. Yep. Taylor Gooch. He's on there. Oh, I said that. I just said that. Okay. Patrick Reed? Patrick Reed. Oh, you forgot Patrick Reed. I mean, what a ride it was. If this is the end, I don't want to say.
45:50I would love. There's one guy who I would really love to catch up with and know what he knows. It's Brooks. Yeah. Oh, well, that's why I'm kind of rooting for live to end like right now, because no one would have timed it better than Brooks. He's a genius. He just went in, made a shitload of money, has to get a little slap on his wrist in the PGA, and he's back. But he's so much farther advanced. Yeah, right. And people are like, Liv, what a disaster. And he's on the other side being like, oh, Liv, what a disaster. Yeah, because he left. What were those guys thinking? Yeah, he left when Liv was still existing.
46:27If Liv stops to exist, the John Rahms, the Patrick Reeds, the Bryson's they have no negotiation but the Bryson and the John Rupps they have no negotiation they have no leg to stand on PGA told them back when Brooks was leaving you have like two weeks to make your decision and then if you don't make a choice to leave that's your choice you'll have to live with it and so the guys that didn't leave it's like they already made their choice so now the PGA is going to come down hard on them and like Patrick Reed he's been on the DP World Tour so he's got like he'll be back what is double penetration?
46:59European he'll be back next the thing that started next year it's like a year from when he defected so what are the other guys going to have to do that's what people are saying they might have to get double penetrated or they might have to sit out the rest of the live season to start that clock what about corn fairy I don't know they might have to re-qualify it is sad Phil Mickelson probably you're never going to see him compete again which that sucks because he's still decent still playing the masters still playing the masters and i think he won in 2021 so this might be his last five-year exemptions for all the majors uh because he won the pga but so this is probably his last year for that the kid michael lasasso who was the national won the national championship at ole miss last year which gets you a spot at the masters he for for for for went it for Forgoo it to become professional, join Liv, and then with less than a year, that's all done.
48:00So it's like, what the fuck does he do? There's some young guys that it sucks for, and it's just sad. It's very sad. It's so sad. It's a sad, sad, sad game of the game of golf. Maybe the saddest story that we've covered. I just hope. Like Bryson. It's so sad. If you were to go back and be like, hey, Bryson, just so you know, you're going to make 400 million dollars but like the league might not exist in four years he'd probably be like i don't i want no part in that yeah i to that would be too sad i when i just think of live golf i just think it's sad it's a very sad story so sad and a cautionary tale that i'm sure we'll never repeat again you know what also is sad like future good for the game of golf though it's like oh yeah it it it disrupted the pga tour forced him to make changes for the better for the players bigger purses bigger you know better events like we're talking louis how big a purses can you get no like bigger prize points I think that with this if you were to say it's good for the game of golf it's made me rethink about war what's it good for up until this affected your live golf viewing you were like I'm in for war sign me up I was ready to get drafted I was trying to get under the age requirement.
49:19I think you're still good. I think they raised that. But now I might, yeah. Yeah. Another sad thing is that in 30 years, the plot of Happy Gilmore 2 is going to make no sense. Yeah. They're going to be like, what? There's an upstart golf league that's driving around on ATVs and shit. They'll have no idea what it was pairing. Sad. Yeah, very sad. It's just really sad. The other thing I had, two more things. PFT, I have two things for you. First is, because we just did our international golf correspondent, you are international soccer correspondent. Is the World Cup going to suck? Yeah, I think the World Cup is going to suck.
49:57Are we fucking this up? I think we're royally. I think everyone's fucking it up. No, it's America. So if you've seen the news, we've had a couple news stories break, one of which was the New Jersey Transit. that they're planning to bump their$12 train ticket from New York City to MetLife Stadium to$100. There's going to be no tailgating at certain venues, Arrowhead, Gillette, Lincoln Financial. And then there was no tailgating at Foxborough. I feel like Philly might have stood up and stopped. You might be able to tailgate in Philly. I would be offended. I could be wrong about it. it's crazy there's definitely no tailgating at metlife yeah well here's the thing big cat metlife is the i'll let you know a little secret it's already a joke yes like it's a joke of a of a representation for like the biggest city in in our country yeah your days spent getting in and out of metlife stadium are hell on earth agreed it's it's a terrible place terrible location and uh just overall terrible experience but yeah the little secret about the world cup is it always sucks yeah the world cup sucks i i went to the one in uh in qatar last time which was until then maybe the suckiest world cup of all time um and that one that one sucked because it was like maybe half a week or a week before kickoff and then qatar was like actually we're not going to have any beer at all in the stadium after people had like already arrived for the games um and then they had just had like pallets of beer that they had to to ship back how can you not tailgates.
51:34This is crazy. I don't know. I don't know how they're going to operate this, but FIFA is a cartel. It's organized crime that has a death grip on world soccer, and it always has been. And CONCACAF especially has been right in the throes of that. So yeah, it's basically one giant grift. And it just so happens that they have control over what should be the most fun tournament in all of sports. As a tournament that I still love. Again, if you heard talking soccer on last episode of Part of My Take, I don't give a fuck about European soccer. I don't care about the EPL, the La Liga. Outside of Tottenham getting relegated, that's about as far as my interest goes.
52:12But when it comes to the World Cup, I love the tournament. It is my favorite tournament in sports, I think. But it's always run by people who are openly antagonistic to their consumers, to their fan base. And it's not going to change. If anything, it's just going to get worse. It's going to suck. Zach, by the way, reminder, we need the update on Tottenham. 18th. That's Saturday. Yes, sir. Yeah. Gotcha. Who do we got? Taught him on the 18th. Brighton. Brighton. Oh, yeah. Brighton. Yeah. Up the goals. Yeah. And the last thing was congratulations, BFT, your new uniforms rock. Thank you. Yeah. I do think that the commander's uniforms was like the most easy, no doubt, don't fuck this up of all time.
52:50And they didn't fuck it up. The only thing that I saw that was very nitpicky and it's, I think we just have too many graphic designers. We can talk about the W. No, it was someone said that the arrow going through couldn't actually. Yeah. Okay. No, that's what I'm talking about. I don't care. I've thought way too hard about the spirit going through the W. But first, let me just talk about the uniforms. The uniforms themselves, they're perfect. It's like what we wore from 1980, it feels like, through 2012. They're great uniforms. They're simple, white. They're burgundy. The gold pants are awesome.
53:27The black alternate is a great uniform. They didn't fuck it up. Also noteworthy is that you will not find the word commanders anywhere on these uniforms. They're just the dubs. I think it's going to be like a, I could be wrong. It could be a five-year process of slowly turning the name into something else when we open up the new stadium. These guys really should have just stuck with football teams. They're back to the football team. Yeah, the football team is so good. I don't need a cartoon bird to represent my team. We're a fucking football team. We play football, bitch. uh but yeah i have spent a lot of time looking at the spirit going through the w and my biggest takeaway from that is that uh this is really a great problem if this is the biggest problem an issue that we have as commanders fans with a rebrand that's that's incredible because with dan snyder in that era he would have fucked things up so much worse than this the w is physically impossible but i don't give a fuck because it's uh it's colors that are on the side of a football helmet and it doesn't really matter in fact if it's not physically possible that'll probably just fuck up our opponents even more right they'll be like trying to shift into a cover three and then they'll just be caught looking at terry mclaren's home and be like that's not physically possible yeah it's an i'm trapped inside of an mcs or football game it is physically possible but the only the only downside or the only problem with the washington commander's logo reveal is you got completely cocked by the new college football playoff logo.
54:53And the Rams? Well, let's talk about the college football playoff logo first. Did you guys see it? It's fucking incredible. I actually didn't. I was just staring at Commander's shit all day. Get the Rams. What did the Rams even change? Oh, you guys got to watch. Look at the reveal video. It's groundbreaking. Go to the college football playoff one first. There's too many things. I said college football playoff. I want you to see it. That one ruled the day of the best rebrand it's not even close i don't care about the rams right college football playoff what logo max can't handle it well there's a lot of things do you guys see the rams look at that bring up the rams real quick look at that though you guys seen that it's a vagina do you see the old one i see a vagina the old one though is a big update there it is look at that holy shit I don't even know what they did they made it a little bit they had a sheen to it and they changed it from college football playoff to CFP it implies the existence of a bright light that's reflecting off of the logo show the video follow along Max I'm trying to follow along my take on the Rams uniform is that The Rams uniform looks exactly the same.
56:14But it's better. No, it's not. It's the same shit. No, it's the same, but better. It's clean, bolder. Yeah. We can't even play this video. Okay. I'll just show it so they can see how different it looks. Wow. They're now blue, yellow, and white. Oh. It's the exact same jersey. Meme said the yellow is different. The yellow is different. And also a major difference is they don't have the stupid gradient numbers. The numbers don't color change. I think the Ravens are unveiling something new tonight. Are they? I think so. So that will be cool, I guess. New cargo shorts? This is how much the NFL owns our brains.
56:57It's like, hey, we got some new uniforms. I mean, I did. I spent a lot of money on the commanders. I have a Luke McCaffrey in every colorway. So I'll put my door on Friday. Respect your guy. And even though the W looks like a taco holder, I still it's miles better. Their uniforms are miles better. Agreed. Than what they were. I think we said about this time last year, the worst uniforms in football. Now I'd put them in my opinion. They're top 10. Yeah, probably. They look classic. Okay. Let's get to some hockey talk with Keith Yandel. And then we have Francisco Lindor in studio. Before we do that, Twisted Tea.

Who else is in the room, Yans? We got Fish Sticks and G-Money. Okay, so it's hockey play, Stanley Cup playoff time. We want to have Yans on, give us a little preview before the first games this weekend. I'd like to start here, and I don't know if I'm on the outside or where hockey commentary is at.
59:53I think the setup for these playoffs, I'm done with it. Fuck it. You want the one through eight. I can't stand the fact that in the West, the best teams have to play each other. Who's it right now? It's going to be the Knights and the Oilers? That one's not set. No, the Colorado-Minnesota one. You're going to be losing a contender in the first round, which kind of sucks. It's crazy to me. And then I saw that in the East. Minnesota-Dallas. Yeah, in the East, it's kind of similar where you have some really good teams that are going to knock each other out. But do you think it's ever going to change back?
1:00:28And where does hockey Twitter land on it? I think everybody's on our page that they want it 1 through 8. I know some guys like Ryan Whitney want 1 through 18, which I don't think will happen just because of the travel and stuff. But Bettman loves the setup that we have now. He thinks it brings a lot more rivalries into the divisions and stuff, which I do agree with. But they've got to figure a way to get it where it's 1 through 8. Because when you're losing teams, especially nowadays with the parity of the league being so good, when you're losing contenders in the first round, at the end of the day, guys are going to lose jobs over that.
1:01:04A coach, if you lose in the first round, you could be on the hot seat. A GM, if you lose in the first round, you could be on the hot seat, even though you're going to lose to a team that is going to eventually maybe go on to win the Stanley Cup. So it's tough. I would like to see one through eight. I don't know. Gary seems to kind of shut it down every time it's talked about. maybe the numbers behind the scenes stuff are in his favor. So whatever he's doing right now, the league's in such a good spot. You can't really question what he's doing. Yeah, like just for example, the Sabres are back in the playoffs for the first time in 15 years.
1:01:40Incredible story. The 7 and 8, the Flyers and the Penguins are playing each other. Like if you just go straight points and then the Sabres have to play the fifth seed if you go straight points in the Bruins. that's so stupid yeah and but that kind of feeds into what betman wants is like the battle of philadelphia or pennsylvania with the flyers and penguins which will be awesome all those series are always awesome sid rips up the flyers when he plays so uh look for him to be a monster so i think when you look at it that way with the matchups that you get he you're kind of you know agreeing with him but uh yeah you're gonna lose good teams and in the the boston buffalo one as well it's It's like, you know, you win your division.
1:02:22Oh, here you go. You get to play the Bruins, who have been great this year. Yeah, I agree with Big Cat. I don't like that. If you're trying to engineer rivalries to happen in the playoffs, like let that shit happen naturally and let that be a rivalry that like we can maybe hope to look forward to if everything shakes out correctly in the playoffs, not like you get it in the first round. I agree. I think that you got to go one through eight. Every other sport does it that way. Yeah, I agree. I think it should be because, you know, what's the incentive to, you know, some of these games tonight, like there are some games that will matter your seating and it's kind of if Anaheim goes out and loses or if they I don't know exactly what it is if they lose I think they play Edmonton if they win they play someone whatever it is so you can kind of control your own destiny where guys you know the last few games you might want to lose on purpose to get a lower seed which you know is sucky to watch and I know what happened to us one year and in uh when I was in Phoenix we going into the last game if we won that game we'd play detroit if we lost we would have played dallas and we had played detroit the year before and our coach was like we're gonna win this game we gotta fucking give it to the to detroit because they beat us last year so we go out we won that game in san jose and then we got swept in four by detroit thanks for coming yeah it's tough um so yeah right off the bat i've got to take you tell me if i'm crazy i'm you know a hockey casual i start to lock in if the caps are good i'll watch all season um but i'm you know mostly we pay attention once it starts to get close to the playoffs i think that this is the leafs year i think that this is the year that they're gonna win the stanley cup couldn't agree more so can you tell me like okay am i crazy to think that yeah uh i mean just like a lot of leafs fans it's a little delusional of yourself to say that um But yeah, it's not their year.
1:04:14They didn't make the playoffs. Last in the division, I think. Yeah, they're actually, I think if they win tonight, then they're out of the top five for draft lottery pick, which would be so Toronto to win this game. But yeah, it's one of those things. I don't see them getting better in the next few years either, which the only good thing about that is a lot of misery to our boy, Biz Nasty. Yeah, that is a fun one. So sticking with two teams that are actually in the playoffs, the Bruins and the Sabres. Great story with the Sabres. I like the billboard they put up with our guy, Witt. Amazing. What a dummy he is.
1:04:49Yeah, he's a real idiot. Can you imagine being that stupid? No, you guys never give bad takes. No. Never. Ever. No. Yeah. You just have billboards of yourselves. I was in Chicago. All I did was see your guys' mugs on the billboards. The problem is we have so many bad takes that I think people would put themselves out of business if they got a billboard every single time that they wanted to put our stupid faces up there. But we got the Sabres and the Bruins. From what I know about the Bruins, really hot goalie, maybe the best goalie in the NHL this season. Is this a bad matchup for the Sabres? They finally worked their way back into the playoffs, and then they have the potential of running into a guy that can shut down their entire offense.
1:05:29Yeah, when you think of playoff hockey, it's goaltending. Goaltending special teams will win you series. I think, you know, the Sabres having such a good year. And then, like you said, it's like their reward is they get to play the Bruins with one of the best players in the league with David Postanoc. And then you got Swayman in the back end there. So it's one of those things where they weren't great against them all year. I think the Bruins were 3-1 against them. So, you know, you think of that stuff going into the playoffs. How did we play against them this year? How was our matchups? How did our big guys play?
1:06:03And, you know, their big guys weren't that great against them this year. Kind of, you know, held to off the scoreboard a little bit. I don't think Tage Thompson had a goal against the Bruins. He had a couple assists. But, you know, those things are in the back of your mind as a player is how you match up against teams. And, you know, for Buffalo, I think they just got to go in all heart, you know, just kind of find ways. And I'm waiting to see if they have the goat head jerseys to really lay my bet on that first game. see what they're wearing if they're rocking the goat heads then I'm pounding them um but I think at the end of the day that Buffalo it's their year to at least win the series go on beat the Bruins uh Grinnelli's not happy with me right now in the background giving me the finger but uh I I do I think I think they got the mojo coming into this year since they fired their GM they've been great been on a been on a nice little tear all year so they're a fun team to watch fun team to root for They got some unbelievable players.
1:07:01Darlene, one of the best D-men in the league. Tage Thompson, TNT, one of the best forwards, power forwards in the league, a real throwback and shoot, hit, do everything, fights. He's just a great player. So that series to me I think is going to be one of the best watches in the first round. Two great markets for TV watching as well. So I think that'll be one of the best series to start it off. All right, so you say goalie play obviously matters a ton and hot goalies at this time of year. Give me the best two goalies in the East and the best two goalies in the West. Best two goalies in the East, I'm going to go.
1:07:39You've got to go Vasilevsky in there. With Tampa, he's got the track record. He's won. He's huge. He can play the puck really well. He can bail you out. He's been in every situation you can put him in right now. He's won Stanley Cup, so I'd probably put him at the one spot just because of his overall work in his career. And then I'd have to put Swayman up there too. He's been amazing this year. Last year, a little bit of a slow start with the contract negotiations, stuff like that. But this year, he's been amazing. Obviously, he was part of that Team USA team that won the Olympics. I think he only played one game.
1:08:19But still, just being around those guys, getting the confidence. So I could see him being a real problem in playoffs. And then out West is a little difficult. Like you got Ottinger, who I think is the clear number one goalie in Dallas. But and then you look at a team like Colorado, who's got the Wood brothers, Wedgwood and Blackwood, who both just great goaltenders. So if one guy's having an off night, you can go to another guy. I know that's not, you know, kind of how it is in playoffs. You usually like to stick with one guy, but their systems work for them over the last couple of years. And I could see them, you know, going back and forth.
1:08:53So I think out West, it's Dallas and Colorado. What's the best series in the West to start? I know that we have, like we said, to start, you know, the fact that the way this whole thing is set up, you have in the first round the Stars playing the Wild, who are both teams that are better than everyone in the Pacific. Is that the best series that you're looking forward to? 100%. And honestly, that could be the Western Conference Finals any other year. But the way it is, we're going to lose one of those teams. But I think that both those teams have kind of been locked in to where they are going to finish for the last couple weeks.
1:09:29So they haven't been playing amazing hockey or even playing as hard as they probably will come playoff time. But I think that series is going to be incredible. We saw what Miko Rantan did last year in playoffs. The guy's an absolute moose. He can win you a series, just him alone. And then you got stories like Wyatt Johnson, who I think he's on a four-game goal streak right now. Jason Robinson, who's been incredible all year. I know Heiskanen's going to be out for the first couple games as of now in Dallas, but when he comes back, he's an absolute stud on the back end. Then Minnesota. Minnesota goes out early this year, I think in December to trade for Quinn Hughes, who's a Norse-type player, defenseman.
1:10:11So making huge moves during the season to bring in players. And then, you know, little moves that they made, which I love, was bringing in. I know you guys are boys with Nick Foligno. Like you bring in a guy like that, you see what he brings to that team, even the short time he's been there with sticking up for teammates, fighting. He knows what it takes to win. He knows what it takes to win in the playoffs. And I think he's going to be a huge add for them just to have him on the bench, have him in the locker room. You know, you're keeping guys honest on the ice. If someone gets taken advantage of, you know, he's going to be out there next shift punching somebody's head in.
1:10:47I love that term moose, by the way. I've started to use moose a lot. Like in D.C. we got the Protus brothers now, and those guys are both moose, right? Oh, my. Yeah, absolutely, mooses. Who are your top three moose in the playoffs? Top three moose in the playoffs? Yeah, playoff moose. Rantanen is the number one moose. Then I'm going to give you a little one off the board here is Zadorov, defenseman for the Bruins. He's an absolute moose, a Russian moose. So, yeah, I think he's 6 '7", 250 or 260. He's an absolute machine of a human. And then one more I'll give you, Tage Thompson. I think he's 6 '5", 230, can skate like the wind, and one of the best players in the league, but he's just an absolute mountain of a man.
1:11:35Who's your top two beauties? Top two beauties in the playoffs right now? Yeah. Oh, man. I'm going to go Nate. Oh, yeah. Pasta. I'll go pasta with one. G gave me that one. That's a layup of pasta is just all time. Like the clips you get of them off on the Internet, the stuff that he wears, the games, the guy's incredible. And then I'll give you because the beauty. Get me. Don't get like. Am I right in saying that a beauty has to both have the game, but also have the looks? Yeah, exactly. You can't be an ugly beauty. Yeah. Speaking of ugly beauties. Hey, Biz. Biz, you want to come to Max's bachelor party?
1:12:18Do you want to come to Max's bachelor party? Vegas. May 1st, Vegas. If I don't have TNT, I would pop in for a night. Are you guys going to the sphere or anything? We're doing it. The sphere. You guys know he works for TNT? I heard that. He tells everyone. We went to get a coffee. He's like, hey, I work for TNT. Can I get a bent the ice? Can you ask him the Leafs question? Oh, Biz. PFT was wondering if this is the Leafs year. You son of a bitch. You son of a bitch. I'll tell you who's in the year it's not. The Washington Capitals. It's neither one of our year. We're 0 for 2 on years this year. Look at this.
1:13:04Are you wearing a Penn State hockey shirt? Yeah, we are. Yeah. Yeah. Gavin McKenna's not coming back so they actually gave me some of the money I'm going to come back to college and play a little bit I love that I have five years of eligibility left He's got to finish high school first The question I just asked Yansbiz was top two beauties in the playoffs this year I didn't give you my second one Individual people I'm going pasta and I'm going Nathan McKinnon Those are my top two beauties Those are good On and off the ice they're saying Yeah, you got to obviously, you know what a beauty is. Yeah.
1:13:43You could also give me your top two man rockets. You know, so I'll give you one from the Flyers, Trevor Zegers. Okay. We did a sandbagger with him, just an absolute character. Came over from Anaheim. He's kind of got that California vibe, but he came over and had a great bounce back year with the Flyers, and now they're obviously in playoffs. The Battle of Pennsylvania is going to be unbelievable. That's going to be an absolute shit show. And, geez, I mean, one other guy. Let me try to think here.
1:14:16Can I come back to it? While he thinks, I'll give you the – I think the biggest man rocket in all of playoffs is Marcus Foligno. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, he's a stallion. Look him up. Don't show your wife, though. What exactly would you – If you had to differentiate between a man rocket and a beauty, what makes the difference? oh yeah Marcus Foligno is a fucking he's a man rocket like for instance like if you didn't watch hockey and you were a girl who showed up to a game if you saw Tom Wilson if you were sitting front row like if I brought my wife or girlfriend I'd make sure I'd cover her eyes every time he skated by or lined up for a face off next to us is that a man rocket or a beauty he's all of it but I'm saying what's the difference between the two that sounds like a man rocket a man missile So one is guided.
1:15:06One is like radar. The other is just dumb. Yeah. Yeah. I think a man missile is both. Take those and combine them. That's what Tom Wilson is. Yeah, that's a man missile. And then, Biz, who are your top two moose in the playoffs? That's like a – I would put Marcus Foligno as a moose. He's a moose man missile. too he's a he's a moose and a rocket yeah moose man missile rocket wow yeah damn guys got it all yeah uh you i mean i wish i wish the capitals were in it because they had that line full of they had three the three blind moose uh of the the protus brothers and tom wilson over 700 pounds of meat yeah and olvy i mean craig they got they needed two team buses to get the games um i'm trying to think of who else could be a a good moose and play all go in the elevator together no no oh god you guys are putting me on the spot here i said ranting ranting is he's i think that's his nickname the moose him and felino i think both their nicknames you nailed it what about Brent Burns is a moose too.
1:16:23Yeah. How old is he? I think he's 68. Yeah, I was going to say. I feel like Gino Malkin might be a moose too. He is a moose. So that's who I was going to pick as my other beauty. Oh, okay. More of a beauty than a moose. What about your top plumber?
1:16:43To give him some love, I would say, and it's a good pickup for Carolina, I would say Delorier. He's got great dance moves. I don't know if you saw his video at the elbow room. He's got some unreal moves. But he's a fourth liner. He doesn't move very well, but just an absolute beauty, good character guy in the locker room. And he's definitely a plumber. I'm going to say Casterlick. Someone who does dirty work, who's a hard worker, kind of grinder. I thought it would be a goalie because they're between the pipe. Maybe not like the most skills, but a plumber. I'm going to say Casterlick from the Bruins.
1:17:20He's going to be a problem in playoffs playing against them. He's got some decent skill, but he plays hard. He'll fight anyone. Playoff hockey is suited for his style of play. One series we've talked about a little bit, the battle for Pennsylvania, the Flyers and the Penguins. Feels like maybe the last ride for this iteration of the Penguins. We're getting towards the end with it. You don't think so? No. I think that Dubas has done an unbelievable job retooling this team, and they got a lot of money to spend in free agency. Not saying like there's a ton of unbelievable free agents available, but, you know, they just, they have good contracts.
1:17:58They, I mean, they'll re-sign Gino and I think they'll be right back in the mix in the Metro. Yeah, people think Sid's like on his way out. Like you got to put him in the same category as Tom Brady. Like these guys, they're built differently. They can play for however long they want to and put up great numbers. He just had his 21st season of over a point a game, which is unheard of. And I know we all said it, that record will never be touched. And he was talking today on McAfee about the fact that he doesn't eat like Ovechkin either, right? Yeah. So he has a pretty good diet. Speaking of good diets.
1:18:33Oh, here's Witten. Oh, the witness. He's got a moose hat on. All the boys. Hey, check out the lid on him. He said he doesn't want to listen. Hey, why? Come on, put the cans on. There you go. Come on. We're talking about Man Rockets, Beauties, Plumbers. I'll tilt my head like this so he can get a lens. Our favorite moose. This is good. That's a three-headed monster. Look at the boys. Three peas. It's good that you're here because we did not bring it up until now. How are you feeling about the Oilers? And is Dreisaitl coming back? I saw the report that he's ready to go. He looks great and skating around right now.
1:19:10I don't know if he'll be there game one. At worst, I think game two. and then if you win game one, why even play him game two? Because chances are we're playing the Kings. It sucks. It's not brutal for an Oilers fan because I think we'll dust them again. I'm just so sick of playing the Kings. Five years in a row, it might be one of the one things that could get Bettman to switch this playoff format is if they get the Kings-Oilers for year six, if it does happen again. Now, obviously the games tonight have to be played, But I think L.A. wins, and I think Nashville might beat Anaheim. We might have L.A.
1:19:47again. But I feel pretty good. Obviously, the second round, based on what Vegas has done since Torts came around, have you guys talked about that? Oh, by the way, I woke up this morning, and I had a text. I'm in a text with Bluntman and these three guys in Merle's, and they were just jerking off to the Knights. They were talking about how incredible the Knights are. To be fair, their strength of schedule when they made the coaching change was very favorable. I'm not taking anything away from them, but that could be a little bit of smoke and mirrors. Sounds like you are taking them away. They looked fast all of a sudden, and I don't know what happened because they looked slow and brutal most of the year, like the whole year basically.
1:20:24And now all of a sudden I'm a little wary to them second round, but I think them and Utah is going to be an incredible series. Oh, yeah. I think Utah is going to be a very, very special playoff, I believe. And Edmonton, yeah, we'll be in the conference final again. so then your final four you never know by the way can you explain to me what would be the analogy for torts in like the NFL I feel like he just jumps around he fixes teams and then he burns them out and everyone's like we actually hate this guy and then he's gone but then he comes to a new team and it's like oh yeah this guy has just whipped us into shape now we're playing the best hockey is that fair?
1:21:03I feel like it doesn't happen oh he's busy is finger locking uh yeah just finger lock it's not it wasn't a big deal you can't finger lock with your boys but the thing is big cat like every guy like you'd think everybody hates torts off the ice but everyone who plays for him loves him as a guy yeah yeah but but is it like he does feel like he shows up and like he gets the most out of him and then maybe the message gets maybe it's like a harbaugh harbaugh it's like when you're whipping the horse right how many eventually it's just like it stops responding right and they some of these coaches they do have short shelf shelf lives i mean the guy they had before him is kind of like that cassidy every three four years the guys start tuning them out and and the thing is though is i think when you go in there with that few of games left you're just basically going in as like a raw raw like like you know just trying to keep the guys nice guy yeah nice guy so not not your basic torts and i think that from a torts perspective he has like he has kind of learned as he's progressed and he knows he's on the back nine of his coaching career so it's kind of like like well I was going to say bonus but uh I think we saw his post-game press conference after the last game but you're just you're not whipping the horses hard so to speak I think for him too being a part of that Olympic team he was just an assistant there and from every everyone I talked to he was just like a great guy to be around coached well and just kept like the light uh i don't even think the mood like yeah he's just kind of hanging out what's up guys so i think he's taking a little bit it seems like he's taking a little bit of that into the vegas season he's not coming in hot like he did with philly or columbus so i don't know look out for them to to put on a good run because after just carving guys just going nuts fucking gatorade coolers wit when you saw the sabers uh billboard like there's no way this is real it's funny i didn't didn't even cross my mind that it was real and then dave's tweet where he wrote is this real i don't even think he thought it was real either but then but that made me be like i wow like is that real no chance and then boom the first response underneath was the guy in the parking lot and i i couldn't it was i think it's honestly my favorite moment for personally in chickletister it's great too because given the history of the Sabres like you you had 14 years in a row to be exactly right and then you pick this year like it's all the funny thing you showed up to a like a roulette table and you saw red 14 times a row you're like ah yeah let's go the craziest part was that I a lot of people were like sweet season preview I was like buddy I said that December 7th like it wasn't even like they literally turned it on the minute we were like 25 games into the year I think oh yeah just but incredible by them like I'm I mean like they that admin guy had been sitting in his basement for 14 I don't know what Twitter wasn't even around when they last time they were in the playoffs so so they just waited and waited and then he had tweeted out earlier like it's going to be a great day I have a lot of special things in store and I had no idea I still retweeted oh oh god help me and then they they dropped the hammer of a billboard and there's actually two billboards I don't even I think there's only two billboards in the city of Buffalo.
1:24:20Oh, yeah. So they're both owned by Pagula. They're 100 % Whitney. Yeah, they're just Whitney billboards now. It's good marketing. And it's got the trickle tat on right front and center. So it's pretty sick. So why were you so convinced that they weren't going to make the playoffs? And then what did they do? I guess you could say, like, you spurned them on. They were brutal. They were horrible. Again, and they've been horrible every year. I'm like, all right, this team's just done like this. And Biz had been saying, I think you were saying, like, they're not done yet. they're not done yet and i gave the 0.000 four zeros there right there and and they fired the gm yeah and we're like oh i mean i don't know like yeah maybe and then apparently biz was told like the coach was possibly getting gas too they had won three games in a row to end a western cover strip they still fired the gm i still i'll we're about to record check let's we'll get deeper into it i still will never understand what happened it doesn't make sense you fire a gm the GM doesn't even do anything.
1:25:15He already built the team. He's around once in a while. And I don't know. All he did, remember he came in and said, you guys are all playing for your jobs next year. Remember Tate? Yeah, like, oh, like everyone says that. They all have eight year deals for eight million bucks. It's also, it's their job to play. They've been playing for their job the past 14 years. Yeah, no, their entire life. But we're podcasting for our job right now. Yeah, oh God, yeah, we are. Wait, it's our job to podcast. I brought costumes today for my playoff previous. The three of them together. He's trying to get it, but he doesn't get it.
1:25:53Yeah, he'll get there. No, I know we're podcasting for our jobs. It's our jobs. No shit, buddy. You think you're talking to Biz? I know Biz. Yeah, Biz is great right now. He doesn't get it. By the way, the Sabres, like... I just lost my training. it was a lot to figure out the podcasting for your job thing oh i did say i i am very happy though i the whole the whole time i was saying that i was like i think i let off that rant with the poor people at buffalo don't deserve this like i love that city yeah we've done chicklets cups there and they've come up to me year after year what do we have to do i say you gotta move you gotta leave the city i don't know i have there's no answer so i'm happy for them like i I love the fact that this has actually gone down and that they're a legit contender, I think, this year.
1:26:42All right. So, yeah, because I agree. Like, that's a long streak. The city of Buffalo, they only have two teams. They love their sports. Like, the whole Jack Eichel thing probably was such a bummer when you thought that was going to be the guy. And then he wins. He wins a cup. Yeah. It all sucked. All right. So, let's do your Stanley Cup picks. Who's in the final and who do you got? I'm going to put a future on whoever can convince me the most. Let's go left to right. So we'll start with biz. Shockingly, like, so now my playoff predictions for the, like the first round series may contradict who I have going to the finals.
1:27:19What? Okay. Let's podcast him for his job. For podcasting for my job. Wait, so you're going to eliminate your pick in the first round? Smart. I really honestly get it. I get where he's coming from. I swear on God. I get it You can't do that It makes no sense but I get what he's saying Because I was thinking the same thing You can't be like I got the stars over the wild But I got the wild winning the cup Yeah I know but he can The Leafs are going to be relegated from the NHL That's how big of a mush I am I can do whatever the fuck I want I actually have the Pittsburgh Penguins Meeting the Colorado Avalanche In the Stanley Cup But the Flyers winning the first round No that makes no sense because you're going to pick Pittsburgh in the first round.
1:28:04You just kind of like inceptioned all of us and then didn't even do the inception part. For a good laugh, though. I'm going to go Buffalo. Wow. And Dallas. Okay. Okay. I'm going Tampa Bay versus Edmonton. But now give us the non-Edmonton pick. Montreal beaten. No, no. It would be Tampa Bay versus Colorado. Which would be a repeat of a final a few years back. that went to six, and Yans picked Dallas-Buffalo, which I know you guys are aware that that was the infamous Brett Hall-foot-and-crease goal. So the city of Buffalo would love, love a chance at redemption against the Dallas Stars. That would be unreal.
1:28:46That would be incredible. A lot of history between those cities. Who are you guys rooting for? Edmonton? Yeah, I got to say Edmonton. It feels like it's Edmonton's year. They're such a piece of the trash. Edmonton. They said that with those bills too, though. No, I got to make a bet. I don't know who I'm going to put a future on. I'm looking at it right now You guys tell me what the best number is Because I do need a team Edmonton, Montreal That would be Coming back to Canada That would be awesome Canada needs this If I could hand pick A team though I would be so happy for Connor McDavid To finally host the Stanley Cup I know you guys ragging him Although him not being able to win the big one But he is a machine what he's done this year.
1:29:32We'd be in the barn. Would you rather him win one or not win one? No, we'd be. They don't want him to win. No, I really want him to win. No, you don't. I was going to be in the barn with you for game seven. I was going to be there with you. That's a fact. Yeah, betting on them, hoping that you won money, but if they lost, it was a win-win. Like, shut the fuck up. Everyone knows, all your listeners know what you guys are doing. I don't think we would ever do that on the show. Bad cop, bad cop thing. You guys can't stand McDavid because you're miserable about your own teams. Your lives stink. You guys got nothing going for yourselves.
1:30:06You try to bring me down. Bad cop, bad cop. It's a great strategy. I mean, what kind of loser would we be if we bet on a team that we wanted to lose in the championship? All right, all right. So tell me this. You got it, Whit? Yeah, I got it. But that's exactly what you were going to do. No, well, he did that. Remember with Hank? What? He did that with the Super Bowl. I want to think so. Poor Hank has to work with you pricks. Oh, yeah. Poor Hank. All right. Give me. All right. So I'm looking at the odds right now. Avalanche are 3-1. That's brutal bet. Brutal bet. Hurricanes are like 5-1. Lightning are 5-1.
1:30:44I'm not doing any three of those. No, no, no. You got to find a good. Here's the 12-1s. Yeah, I'm giving you everything in the middle. We got the Stars at 10-1. Senators 13-1. Oilers 13-1. Sabres 14-1. Wild 18-1. I think Dallas is the best. Stars 10-1. Stars 10-1 is nice. The problem with the Stars, though, right now is Rupe Hintz. They've got to play the wild. No, but I know that. They have the hardest division to come out of, right? Because now they're stuck in the central. And then Haskin hasn't played. They say he will be ready for game one. And then Rupe Hintz, who's their number one center, so they're dealing with injuries again.
1:31:20And they have probably the hardest first-round matchup of anyone. And Sagin's out. Can the Knights do it? Edmonton. Edmonton's 13 to 1. Boys, I'll tell you, if they go to the Cup Final again this year, you guys will have to just say, okay, this team is incredible. I know I'm saying just go to the Cup Final, but of all the years of the past two, including in this one, they're so much worse than they were the last two years. If somehow it happens again, I just don't see them losing because there's no Panthers to dummy them down. So 13-1 is a good bet? Yeah, I like the Dallas one. Yeah. I think you should sprinkle a little bit on all those ones in the 13-14-1.
1:32:06Like Buffalo at 14-1, sprinkle a little bit. He doesn't sprinkle. He puts 15 grand on there. I can't sprinkle. That's a little sprinkle. Straight hose. All right. Edmonton 13-1? Yeah, do it. All right, great. You told me to do it, so now you can't get mad at me. I just did it. I literally just did it. Who has the worst odds? the Ducks Boston, Ducks, Flyers, Kings, Bruins the thing about the Ducks are a little weak up the middle and they got Leo Carlson who's their first line center who's young and inexperienced but they got good goaltending and they have a really good, I like their back end man, they got a good built for playoffs, they got a good back end and they're coached by Q but yeah, you guys have picked everyone now yeah, what's Vegas's it's a wide open year, Vegas is a wide open year I think this is the most wide open year we've seen in a long time.
1:32:569-1 for the Golden Knights right now. Merle thinks they're fraud. No, no, no, no, no. He's back on. Yeah, remember this morning? He said they look incredible. He's back on. He's back on. Tort switched his mind around. Yeah. All right. But it's a wide open year. It's going to be a great playoff. It's going to be way better than that other stupid sport you guys cover. Soccer? Football? the thing about the thing about hockey though is just like the like it's it's turned into like uh the nba but in a positive way with like the crazy like trades that have happened like the coaching changes that have happened like superstars getting traded yeah it's in a positive way so they're essentially the headline hogs with all the rumors going on off the ice so what a what a perfect year if you're a kind of like a a cusp hockey fan but if you like sports you gotta jump jump on hockey playoffs.
1:33:49I mean, there's nothing better than the Stanley Cup. There's nothing. Especially with how good Olympics was. I know watching hockey after the Olympics was a little tough just because of, you know, the play kind of dipped a little bit, but it's going to ramp up for playoffs and it's going to be an incredible couple months. Yeah. All right. I got one last question. Thank you, boys, for doing this. By the way, we were actually joking yesterday. We were talking about future guests in the playoffs coming up and we're like, the best part about this time of year is we just get to just go like eeny, meeny, miny, Moe down the line and have all three of you on every other week.
1:34:19So thank you for that. It's the best. Oh, we love coming on. You're welcome. It's the best because booking guests is not the easiest sometimes. It's like, oh yeah, we can just have the boys on. So this will not be the last we talk to you guys. Roback question, RHOBACK.com promo code TAKE. 20 % off your first purchase. Q-Zips, polos, hoodies, joggers, shorts, Roback.com promo code TAKE. WIT, on a scale of 1 to 10, how happy are you that Elio completed IceCon without you? So now you can be like, I'm a mush. I never have to go again. It's one of the best feelings of all time. Every year, I love Elio.
1:34:55I love IceCon, the Ice people. It's an incredible event. You brought your kids. I brought my kid. It was Whitney. It was WhitneyCon. But it's at a time of the year where we're kind of ramping up and it's nice out and maybe I could play golf. And now it's like, I'm done. I'm done forever. So it's a great feeling. I was happy for him. And I don't think they get it done if if if i'm there so if he was forced to go to a few more it would turn into like custody battle con yeah true exactly all of a sudden what the fuck are you doing now did you see my every other weekend i heard you were there for two minutes and there's three goals nine minutes two goals pretty good fucking stat line wow yeah yeah that would put you on pace for uh times what is that uh six that put you up a 12 goals there we go 12 to 12 to 14 yeah that's my job i'm i'm podcasting for my job do you think uh i got a request do you think that dave would be open if the family feud does like a few different barstool versions if the chicklets crew could what do you mean i think you're talking about the dozen no he's talking about family no i know i'm saying you just biz just invented the dozen which is having like wait who's going on family feud dave got offered to do family feud no that's like my biggest dream i'm so mad i he was it was gonna It's going to be me, Dave, Mincy, Rico, and Jerry.
1:36:17No, no. Mincy's getting to do it? Hold on. I can't do the date, so I told Dave we just need to have – we got to do – like the Yak will do qualifiers of just the mutants. I think he's got to only bring mutants. He can't bring regular people, right? No, because then they won't invite anyone else from Barstool. It would be fun for like Chicklets to maybe go against the Barstool mutants where it would be us three, R.A., and then obviously Merle's would be good. I mean, we could throw G in the mix, whatever the fifth guy would be. But I know R.A. would smoke anyone. He goes, you guys are kind of partial mutants.
1:36:50When it comes to family feud, yes, definitely. But, yeah, no, I want it to be like Dave. Think about like Dave, Rico, Che, White Sox, Dave, Blutman. I want to get Blutman in there. Buddy's got to be on there, dude, no doubt. I want to just Dave in the mix. Buddy could end up hosting it after he's on there. Like, you have to stay, sir. Look at you. You have to stay. We could do a full month. I just barstool personalities. I want to see Steve Harvey just meet Frank the Tank for the first time. And just like try to figure him out. Yeah. Losing team has to get Steve Harvey teeth. Yeah. I'll do anything Steve Harvey does.
1:37:24I'd love that. Absolutely. Absolutely. That's big. Winner gets to bring his daughter on a date. All right. Who do they play against? I don't know. It's a celebrity. So it's probably another show. Oh, okay. Wow. Yeah. Yeah. So we got to figure out who's going to be on. I know I'm so pissed. It's I. I can't make. It's my daughter's birthday And I fucking I was like When he said the date I was like god damn it This has been my dream Yeah I've been talking about it forever So Alright yes We'll get to it Mincy Mincy keeps failing upwards What a life He's such a piece of shit Ah Dickhead Did you see the most recent thing?
1:37:56No I said that he can go to The last two days Of the spring break house In Vegas Cause I was like You know You're a full blown enabler Hold on Hold on Whitney Just listen to me though As long as it's not my house I agree Someone actually said What did you say? I said, as long as it's not my house. Yeah. Someone actually replied, and they're like, Big Cat is weak on crime. And I laughed pretty hard at that. But no, I was like, he's going to go because the spring break house gets a little. Last year, after a couple weeks, they kind of got all nicey-nicey, and it wasn't as fun. Like, we'll throw in Mincy at the very end.
1:38:31I told Mincy, you can't do poker. That's the only rule. First thing this fucking guy does, he goes, Big Cat said I can't do poker. He never said I can't go to fish. so he's just like I'm going to fish and he's like oh wow so I'm not going to send him anymore it's crazy cancel that trip he's buying new clothes on Amazon he's trying to expense it he didn't have any underwear for Vegas he bought 15 socks for a two day trip he's like yeah how expensive what does he have three feet

1:41:22But Francisco, thank you for being here in studio. Are you ready to get your mind blown? I'm going to blow your mind right off the stove. Go ahead. Start. You ready? Start like that. This is a crazy day that you're here because you're here. You have the Cubs weekend series at Wrigley, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. We're going to run this Friday. So people are listening to this tomorrow as we tape this on Thursday. Do you know that when you take the fields for the Mets on Friday at Wrigley, you officially have played more games for the Mets than the Indian slash Guardians. Is that not nuts? That is not.
1:41:56I always like, I couldn't believe it because it feels like it's only been a couple of years, but then I looked it up. I was like, holy shit. He's it's the exact 777 games played for both teams right now in the regular season. That's, that's, that's, that's a cool stat. Yeah. I was, I didn't even have it on my mind. Yeah. Thanks for bringing that. Do you feel like you are, you are like, like comfortable and you know, you're a new yorker and you're a met and like you've you've embraced all that i love new york i love new york the organization is great as well and now that you mentioned that i've i've told a couple people already like this is my sixth season yeah it's like damn it's it's it's crazy yeah it's crazy to think that i'm in my sixth year in new york um and i love i love the the the vibes that we have i love the city of new york it's it's unmatched yeah the city of new york is unmatched your stats are actually remarkably similar too like the first yeah the the first 777 and the second almost identical you've been like really consistent over your career was there was there a change like when you got to new york was there anything that you had to start doing differently Well, when I got there, the league was a little different than it is today.
1:43:14You know, we have the DH now and before it was pitchers. And, like, it was a little different the way they pitched. But my game, I take a lot of pride in my game and just trying to be as consistent as possible. Just trying to be the same person day in and day out no matter what. And I haven't looked at the stats. If you guys haven't pulled it up, I would like to see it. But it makes me happy that it's similar. Yeah, it's 3 ,500 hits in Cleveland and 3 ,425 hits in New York. We got 508 runs in Cleveland, 514 runs in New York. 3 ,500 hits in New York? Oh, sorry. I'm looking at plate appearances.
1:43:54Hold up now. Hold up now. I got some records. We got some more things to talk about. I'm like, hold up. Yeah, 896 in Cleveland, 782 in New York. You would set all-time records. You would beat Pete Rose's records if those original stats were correct. I would guess that your consistency is something you've got to be very proud of because it does, even in years where maybe you have slumps or whatever, it's like the end numbers look very similar, and it's just a really, really good all-star MVP vote six times. like that type of player yeah i i and it's so tough to i guess have a good start you know every year i'm like i'm gonna have a crazy start this year and then i start somewhere in the middle and then i finish where i'm going to finish yeah every time um i just got to find a way of like you know going and get going get going get going and keeping that pace the whole year yeah but it's it's it's baseball it's such a long year yes there's so many ups and downs and the downs they feel even worse when the numbers are a bunch of zeros yeah in the scoreboard it's it it's something that you look up and you're like damn that doesn't look good yeah but then when you struggle in july or september you look up and it's like okay I'm not as deep in the waters as I think I am.
1:45:25Yeah. Do you feel the pressure of New York where you guys had a little bit of a slow start? You got some crazy, rabid fans. Frank the Tank, our co-worker. I don't know if you're familiar with any of his work. I've seen him. Yeah. But the sky is always falling for Frank the Tank. Do you have a message for Frank the Tank? Be like, hey, man, it's a long season. It's going to work out. We've got a lot of games. I don't think I'm on his good side right now. Oh, no. I don't think anybody is. Yeah. Don't feel like you're alone on that. Hey, he looks good. Losing weight. He looks good. He looks good. So, Frank, keep going.
1:45:58I like it. Kill him with kindness. Yes. That's good. Do you like the nickname Mr. Smile? Yeah. Yeah. I like it. It's a good nickname. I'm a lover. I'm not a fighter. Mr. Smile came out a little bit the other night in your plate appearance against Shohei Otani. Yeah. It's like you knew that he got you as you were swinging. And when he's locked in, it feels like there's nothing that you can do. Yeah. he changed the rhythm the last pitch we got into a little battle and I felt the whole entire time like I was winning the at-bat and then he changed the rhythm last pitch and threw me off and that's why I smiled cause it's like damn he got me he pitched growl he pitched really good it's the first time I faced him I have years in the big leagues he's got years in the big leagues I've never faced him that is kind of crazy yeah it's the first time I faced him and if he's doing stuff like changing up his mode like you have no Throwing 100.
1:46:50He was throwing hard. He got mad. He was throwing. First pitch of the game, I go, I look up, I'm like, okay, all right. All right, game on. Yeah, he got mad last night. He said he can't dial it back 100 % all the time. But last night he was like, okay, yeah, it's time for me to just let it rip right now. Yeah, he was. Threw, like, I think five pitches over 100 miles an hour. Yeah, I think three of them were, four of them went to me. Yeah. What's your favorite city to play in? Besides New York and Cleveland? Yeah. because I'm biased with those two. I like Toronto. Toronto's a great city. Yeah. It's a good spot, especially when they open the roof.
1:47:30It's a beautiful field. Yeah. With New York, so we used to live in New York for about seven years. We went to a few Mets games. Do you have a way to get out to Mets games that's way easier than the rest of us? Because that was the one reason why I didn't like going. It took me forever to get to a game. Yeah. show up at 1 p.m and it'll be easier yeah just leave early no traffic so that's that's literally the time we get to the field 1 p.m for a seven o 'clock game we don't hit traffic now my wife on the other hand she hits traffic yeah you know it's like that traffic that rush hour that's that's the one that gets a little tricky yeah so respect to all the fans that show up and make it on time Yeah.
1:48:13Because it's hard to do that. It does feel like a special place to play when things are going well. It's amazing. The way city field gets together when things are going well, it's incredible. And that's why I love it because it's a city that you got to bring it every single day. You sucked yesterday, but today you got to bring it. Or you played well yesterday, but today you got to bring it. They'll let you know. And I love that. I love that because you got to bring you a game every single day. Yeah. You get Grimace going in the crowd. That whole thing was special. Yeah, I haven't seen Grimace in a while.
1:48:52Is he a Fairweather fan? I feel like Grimace needs to come back. Yeah. He stayed 24. Do you hate the Yankees? Was it instant? No, no, no. Oh, you don't? No, no, no. Like I said, I'm a lover. Okay. But, I mean, it is kind of – there's a divide. Like PFT said, we lived in New York for it. Like, there is a very distinctive divide in terms of the fans in the city. There is. But they're in the American League. We're in the National League. Like, we don't really – in our clubhouse, we don't really see it like that. You know? It gets – when it comes to Subway Series, those are fun because there's a lot of buzz in the city.
1:49:27And it's good for, like, barbershop talks and, like, whenever you walk around the city and you go to, like, the bodegas, you know, like, people are talking about it. And the trash guy talking to you, yelling at you, it's a good time. Yeah. Do you hate the Braves? Do I hate? No, I don't hate the Braves. You got to hate someone. You got to hate someone. Who do you hate? No. You don't hate the Nats. No, I hate. The Marlins? Oh, that would be funny if you were just like, I hate the Marlins. Actually, aren't the Nats the most recent team in our division? No, the Braves. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, the Braves.
1:50:022019, the Nats got it. Yeah. Beat the Astros. That was pretty cool. But yeah, so you don't hate anybody? No, not really. What about when you were in Cleveland? Did you hate anybody? No. No, I'm not a hater. Can I ask a question? That's not within me. Yeah, can I ask a question about the World Series? Because obviously I'm a Cubs fan, so that was incredible. Yeah, well, do you think they should have delayed the game? Delayed the game? Yeah, the rain delay. I mean, it was pouring, wasn't it? Yeah, I mean, they could have. I felt like it helped the Cubs a lot in that moment. But my real question.
1:50:38This sucks. This sucks. I'm not going to talk. This sucks. I hate that I lost. I hate that we lost. We should have won it. And I feel terrible for the people in Cleveland. And to all the Cubs fans, you're welcome. Okay. So my only question about it is when you were told that Trevor Bauer hurt his finger with a drone, were you like, that can't be real? No. Because he loved the drones? It was like, what? This is crazy. But he still went out there. Trevor Bauer is a crazy competitor. And yeah, he went out there. We had probably three pitchers that were down that weren't pitching. Kluber pitched three games in the World Series.
1:51:31Yeah. That's insanity. Yeah. And he's one of the best pitchers probably ever. He pitched three times Tumlin. Carrasco wasn't there. He got hurt that year. Bauer had a bad finger. Yeah, no, that team, it was a good team. I enjoyed being around that team. We have a lot of Cleveland people in this office. That was actually when you walked in, you took a bunch of pictures. Those were all Cleveland fans. And I dropped the stat on him. I was like, did you know that tomorrow he's actually going to play more games for the Mets? Which, again, that still kind of blows my mind. Because, I don't know, like, it's just time's moving too fast.
1:52:13Yeah. It is. Who's the toughest pitcher you faced? Toughest pitcher?
1:52:22David Price. I faced David Price in Toronto after he got traded to Toronto. And they were playing. They were making a playoff push. and the crowd got behind him and he was just nasty. Chris Sell, every time I came to Chicago, the face, the White Sox, and he was there, it was just like, all right, hope to get one.
1:52:47CeCe, CeCe Savadre, nasty.
1:52:52And then there's a guy that, Garrett Richards, he played for a couple years but he was one of those pitches that was like effectively wild it was just he's not going to throw strikes you'll be fine, strike one, strike two, strike three damn, I look back like hold up now, next I bet I'm like alright let me swing ball I swing, ball I swing alright, yeah so he was really good yeah, how's it been going with the uh the abs with the challenges i love it do you have rules like if you if you use a challenge you better get it right i mean everybody thinks they're gonna get it right yeah but the reality is umpires are right more times than not um but i love it because guys stop complaining you know there's no arguing oh he messed me up it's just top top then you know i love that just top top if you really are complaining about it top top yeah yeah and then just that's it end on the argument yeah it's it's speeding the game i i like it too i i think it's a good rule we're gonna look back in 10 years and think it was crazy that we ever had human beings that had to call balls and strikes it's kind of fun seeing the ball coming yeah you know like in the big screen you see the ball coming you're like oh yeah oh he got it right it's crazy how i've said it multiple times on this show, it makes sense because you guys are professional athletes and professional baseball players, but when you guys will get it right as a ball like a centimeter off, it's like, how the hell did you do that?
1:54:32How the hell did you feel that? I asked the same thing. Really? I haven't challenged anything. I don't think I will. I don't know the strikes on that well. There's guys that... That's a crazy thing for you to say because you're an incredible hitter. Yeah, but just to be a hitter, you just got to be able to get the barrel to the ball. Okay. Yeah. Some guys are like, oh, that ball is like half an inch of the plate. I'm like, what? Yeah. How do you know this? So you don't think you'll ever challenge one? I don't want to say I don't ever go into challenge, but I don't think I will. Yeah, that's not your game.
1:55:07It's just I move with the pitch as the ball is coming. There's times I go back to the dugout and I'm like, that ball is right down the middle and it's three inches off the plate wow there's other times i'm like that i look at the umpire like that ball is way off and i go back and it's like two balls in the strike zone so you're not an abs guy yeah that's not you gotta challenge one now just to be so wrong that would actually be really funny if you challenge a strike and it's just center like right down the middle and everyone's just like what the hell that would go viral and then And they'll say Lindor was right.
1:55:44It would be, yeah, either the best or the worst challenge of the year. That would be funny. You guys got to put that together at the end of the year. What are the worst challenges? Yeah. I just want to see you challenge one and be like, that was way outside and just boom, center. Sometimes in football, the coaches throw the red challenge flag just when they're mad that something happened. It doesn't matter if the referee was right about it. They just wish that it didn't happen. So they'll throw a flag. Then the ref will go review and be like, oh, yeah, we made the right call. You're just frustrated.
1:56:13But maybe I'm wrong, but it sounds like you're saying, like, when you're up to bat, you look at every pitch in terms of, like, can I hit this pitch? Yeah. Not necessarily, like, is this pitch a strike or not? It's the pitch in the area that I'm going to hit. And if it's not, then I take. And if it is, then I swing. And more times than not, I think it's an area that I can hit. Right. You know? And when the ball, the ball is going so fast that when the catchers catch the ball, they're taught to frame it and bring it back to the plate. So I look back and the ball, sometimes catchers make it too obvious where it's just like they're bringing the ball from way out of sight into the plate and you see them sticking it and you're like, yeah, that's a ball.
1:56:59But with this ABS stuff, catchers are probably trying to trick batters too. catch the ball the wrong way even though it's a strike. So when they hit it, it looks back, they go, oh, that's a ball. They challenged and it was right down the middle. I hadn't thought about that. That's a really good point. We were talking before we started taping about some of the different places you travel on the road. We talked about Milwaukee for a second and the Pfister Hotel. And it's got a reputation as being haunted. We've stayed there before. We went ghost hunting in the Pfister Hotel. So I think we found evidence.
1:57:34You found me. We found evidence of ghosts there. But have you actually encountered a ghost there? I have not. But I've always said that if there is a ghost, he can't touch me. Okay. Ghosts can't touch you. Why? Yeah, they can. How? What do you mean? When you see movies, you put your hand through them. When you're sleeping, though. They can't touch you. What if the ghost is like laying on top of you when you're sleeping? Then I'm asleep. I don't know. I'm asleep. But they can like knock stuff over. I feel like you're tempting a ghost. That's a little different. When you see something moving, that's a little different.
1:58:08Like in San Francisco, we had an earthquake, and it was pitch black in my room, and I felt the door going boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. I get my flashlight immediately to see what's happening, and then I felt the bed move. Yeah. So if something like that happens in Milwaukee where I know there's not that many earthquakes, maybe it's a conversation the next day in the clubhouse. Are you afraid of getting inhabited by a ghost? Like the ghost could take over you? I don't think he's going to take over. I just don't believe it. Maybe if you're in a slump, you just say that. You're like, I stayed at the Pfister Hotel.
1:58:43It's not my fault. It's the ghost's fault. Yeah, the ghost is having a bad head. I have the stocks of the hotel go down. Yeah, right. You actually said something to me when we were walking in. I said, you know, you got to go try some ice cream. And that Cal Raleigh hit six home runs after he had the ice cream on a weekend last year. And you said you're not superstitious at all. I'm not. If. If Kyle hits six home runs because of the ice cream, I think he'll be having ice cream every single day in his mind. Well, he might be. But I don't believe it. I don't believe it's a superstition because to me, we all work way too hard to give the credit to the batting gloves, to give the credit to the bat, to give the credit to the cleat, to give the credit to the ice cream.
1:59:28Like, it's, you know, like, yeah, we use those tools help us, but if we prepare. Yeah. No, listen, what you just said is the completely reasonable, well-adjusted, normal thing to say, but you're so wrong. Like, everything you just said is wrong. Like, yes, you are talented. You've worked your ass off. All the credit should be to you and your hard work. But let's be honest, if you ate the ice cream, you'd probably have a lot of home runs. I started it in 2019. I got hurt. I tore my calf muscle. And I had to do so many things to get ready that I was like, I can't be superstitious. I can't do the same thing every single day just because yesterday I played well.
2:00:15Like, it's just now. And I stopped. And it's so, you feel so free. Right. I would imagine, yeah. It's like, okay, I'm out of prison. I'm not a person on my own brain. I'm good. Who's the most superstitious on your team right now? coaches are usually very superstitious. Yeah, yeah. Very superstitious because they can't play for us. Right. You know. Yeah, that's true. The fans' perspective, we're superstitious because we don't have any control. Yeah. And it's crazy to me. Like when a family member comes up to me and is like, hey, we watched the game yesterday and when I sat here, I need to sit here.
2:00:59I'm like, come on. That is not going to help that basketball player make that shot. I disagree. You're wrong. You're wrong about that. Respectfully disagree. It's very real. Did you get nervous watching the World Baseball Classic? Very. Did you have superstitions for that? I hate it, man. I'm more nervous watching the games as a fan than I am as a player. Yeah. It sucked. Yeah. It's not a good feeling. I yelled. I cried. I was nervous. I'm like, what is this? I can't do this. How fun is it? Because obviously this year you didn't play in it. But how fun is it playing with those guys for country pride and everything?
2:01:39Does it feel different than playing in a regular season Major League Baseball game? It does. It does. And I'll tell you why. It's because growing up, you do the same thing as everybody else. It's like we all go to the same schools or we listen to the same music. and we all have the same backgrounds. Then we get bigger. We make it to the big leagues. And then now we have so many different cultures. You show up to the clubhouse, there's country music. And then 20 minutes later, there's rap. And then there's hip-hop. It's different types of stuff, different type of foods. But then when you play in this tournament, it's like I'm assuming the Americans are listening to hip-hop and country music.
2:02:25Puerto Ricans is reggaeton all day. Venezuela with salsa and Dominicans with bachata, you know, and you eat the same thing. So it takes you back to where you were a little kid. Get your kids together. Correct. And then after that, every game is an elimination game. So it's game seven every single day. Yeah. And on top of that, you're in spring training mode. Yeah. And now you have to turn on that switch. Yeah. And it's game on. And the fans, and it's just like there's so much between a little nostalgia with just the energy. It's like, wow, I feel like I'm a kid again. And it's just like everything matters.
2:03:14It's really cool. What did you think about Italy having mostly players from America that their grandparents were Italian? You see, that's wrong. To me, that's wrong because when Italy didn't play well, people weren't claiming them. And now that they play well, people are claiming them. That's wrong. They embrace the Italian culture. And yeah, the USA has the most players. So if you can't make that team, you got to go somewhere else. Yeah. And they play well. I love their celebration. Their celebration was great. Yeah. I mean, we probably should have. And we lost to them. So that's – We probably should have had Pasquatino on the American team.
2:03:55He's a good player. You think he was going to play over Harper? I don't know. He's awesome. I love him. He's a great guy. He has a lot of guys to choose from for the American team. Yeah. I mean, Kyle Riley was playing – play out of seven games, I think he played two or three. Yeah. Yeah. And he just finished second MVP and hit 60. Yeah. You know, like it's Gunnar Henderson, a great shortstop playing third base. Breckman, you know, was in the bench and played there a little bit because Bobby Witt's playing short. Yeah. You know, like they had a really good team. Yeah. Yeah. So our guy Memes is in the booth.
2:04:33He's a massive Mets fan, huge Mets fan. Much love. Memes, you got any questions? I know you do. Okay. Will you throw him a ball when we're at? I have season tickets right behind the visitors dugout. We throw him a ball when you see us on Saturday and Sunday. Yeah, I got you. Like a little kid, you know? I mean, he's 30, but... Keep putting the headphones on down on the ground. Oh, yeah. So you can grab those headphones so you can hear memes. Awesome. Which, actually, wait, before memes goes, I'll say this. Your hair looks great. We're here with Nutrafol. Long season. It's awesome that you... Because Nutrafol is a sponsor of ours.
2:05:10You just do stuff with them. Yeah. They're great people. Yeah, Nutrafol is fantastic. You know, it's very relatable to baseball. It's all about the long game. It's about being consistent with the routines and how you do things. And that's how Neutral Flow is. It's like whether it's the pills, the shampoos, the conditioners, all this stuff. It's all being consistent. So a great partnership. It goes hand to hand with what I believe. And I love my hair. Yeah. I express myself through my hair a lot. Yeah. Nutrafol makes it so like, hey, you go consistently. You do this to get fuller hair. We're getting older.
2:05:52We're both in our 40s. Yeah. You got to make sure that you take care of that stuff. And I've done a lot of stuff with my hair. So making sure it doesn't get thinner, making sure it continues to stay strong and full and loud. Yes. I can be loud at times. Yes. I love that. You're smart, man. Shout out Nutraful. We have our promo code PMT. You can use that$10 off your first month subscription and free shipping with Nutraful. Memes. Yeah, this whole time, Memes has just been getting more nervous. Yeah. Don't get nervous. You got this, Memes. Also, Zach, you got to have some questions. Yeah. I have one quick one.
2:06:31How sick was that feeling after hitting that Grand Slam against the Phillies? it was a fantastic feeling feeling but i was so in the moment that that's what made it even cooler like i remember hitting the ball and as i hit the ball i said double then the next step was like i got him and then the next step was like breathe and the next one was breathe and then it was like Like, okay, give a handshake to the first base coach. Like I was so in the moment that that's what made it even cooler for me because I have hit home runs. I hit home runs in Cleveland, and I blacked out. I yell. I ran around like a little kid just yelling and celebrating, and then you don't remember so much.
2:07:23But I remember every step I took what I was thinking. Yeah, good question. That's got to feel like you're floating. Do you remember seeing the apple come up in center field? I was looking at the bullpen people. I did not look at the apple. Next time I hit the home run, I just make sure I just look at the apple. You just salute the apple. What about off that? What about Pete Alonzo's home run against the Brewers? What was the dugout like after that? I was on base. Yeah, but when you guys all get back, you're like, holy shit. Because that was a true playoff moment. It was one of those moments that you know Pete's going to do it, but you hope he doesn't.
2:08:08You know what I'm saying? It's like I know he's going to do it. I hope he doesn't. So boom, he hits the ball, and it's like, holy shit, he did this. This is crazy. And we were all sick and hugging each other and yelling. And I remember trying to tell the guys, get back in it, get back in it, get back in it, because we still had to go out there for one more inning. Right. And everybody kept on saying that. It wasn't just me saying, get back in it. It was just everybody was just like, concentrate, concentrate. Yeah. We got to finish the job. Yeah. Because you're so hyped up. Yeah. Go ahead, Memes.
2:08:50Just a follow-up question. Has anybody mentioned it to Devin Williams in the locker room? No. No. No. No. And I don't think I've gotten ahead of Devin, so I can't really talk to him about that home run because he's going to say, I strike you out like three times already. Yeah. Go ahead, Memes. You got more? Or his favorite Mets. Memes, you have lots more. Come on, Memes. I do. Who's the best pitcher you play with? And I guess it's a follow-up. If Noam McLean might be the best one. Best pitcher I play with, well, DeGrom, nasty, and Kluber, nasty as well. They both have two Cy Youngs and Max Scherzer and Berlander.
2:09:36This is crazy. I just thought about this. I play with some legit pitchers. Yeah. And I think they all might be Hall of Famers. Yeah. I should start collecting jerseys from them. Yeah, Baseball Hall of Fame is so hard to get in. Yeah. It's so hard. Yeah. Would you go in as an Indian or as a Met? Me? Yeah. I've got a long way to go. Okay. I've got a long way to go. That's a very diplomatic answer. I've got a long way to go. I'm trying to hit 200 this year. You have 6 ,000 hits. I don't know if you remember what I said earlier. Yeah. Start making the plans. Zach, I know you've got some questions too.
2:10:12I've got a quick one. I was just curious. With 81 games on the road in a season, is there any cities you kind of gear up and get excited to travel to and on the inverse of that, or then you were like, oh man, I'm not really looking forward to heading here. I think when you go into cities, it's not so much the city because we get into the routine and just go into the field. It's more the travel, like the long flights. That's just like, you get tired of them. I do like coffees with good cities. I mean, cities with good coffees. Okay, like that. Yeah. Cities that have good coffee, that's... That makes it easier.
2:10:56It makes it so much easier. And you get to walk and you sit down. You find these smaller places that have really good coffee. You sit down, you open your computer, and you just hang out for a little bit, and then you go to the field. It makes it so much better. And I used to... I love clothes. and I used to get super excited to come to Chicago, Toronto, New York, L.A., but now I live in New York. Now it's just like I don't go shopping. You got all the clothes. I don't go shopping anymore in the city. I do walk around just to sightsee, but I'll be walking around here in Chicago,
2:11:40but everything they have here that happens in New York. Yeah. Oh, I got a question about the superstition thing. Back to it. I know that it's probably weird. You're trying to get me to be surprised. No, but you said 2019 you stopped, right? Yeah, yeah. Does that mean before you were? Yes, yes. So were you superstitious when you guys, what was your win streak, 22 games in 2017? That was crazy. I mean, I think any time a baseball team gets past like, you know, whatever, call it 12, 15, and you've won four or five series in a row, it's like, holy shit, how are they doing this? Because it's so hard to win game in and game out.
2:12:13Yeah. Were you superstitious during that? What were you guys doing in the clubhouse? I don't remember what I was doing, but I do remember walking or driving to the field and asking, ah, who's pitching today from our team? And be like, oh, Kluber, well, good luck. Yeah. Who's pitching today? Oh, Bowler, well, good luck. Oh, who's pitching today? Carrasco, well, good luck. You know, it's just like every day it was like we have such a good pitching staff that winning was the only option. Yeah. You know, so people were talking like, how are you guys doing this? And like, well. Look at our pitchers.
2:12:54Yeah, we don't expect anything else. Yeah. Our pitchers are going to go seven. And then here comes Miller. Here comes Cody Allen and Shaw. You know, Francona, his guys. they were going to pitch every single day. Yeah. You know, it's just like the wheel was going. Yeah. It kind of felt very smooth. Like there was no like, holy shit today. Damn. Yeah, like hopefully we keep going. But 22 is nuts. Because I mean, you think about it, the best team in Major League Baseball every single year is going to lose a third of their games. Yeah. And so 22 in a row is insane to look back at. It was almost a full month.
2:13:39Yeah. It's crazy. Yeah. You just keep ripping off wins. That's a good month of work. Yeah. Do you, after a game, ever check Twitter to see what Stephen Cohen says about the team? No. No. I try to stay away from it. That's probably smart. I try to stay away from Twitter. That's very smart. Twitter could be nasty. and I'm the type of person that reads 20 good comments and read that one and it's just like, oh, it makes you feel some type of way. So I try to stay away from it. That's very normal. Like that's all of us. We all go through that where it's like you could read 75 things that are all really nice.
2:14:17Then one guy's an asshole and you're like, well, that ruined my day. Well, I don't think that ruined my day. For me, it does. But I do feel some type of way for sure. so I try to stay away from it and I just stay in the when people post stuff rather than what they say about me I only watch videos of myself, I don't watch what people say like what videos? me hitting home runs, me making plays just to get yourself do you ever go on YouTube and just type in like Francisco Indoor home runs? that's awesome Francisco Indoor highlights 2019 2019. Yeah. The highlights 2020. The highlights 2020. Are you watching and being like, damn, I'm good.
2:15:04That's the main reason. Yeah. To like. The confidence. Yeah. Feel good about yourself. You know, like we struggle so much. Think about it. If I have 756 at bats and I get 180 hits, I had a really good year. Yeah. So that's, I've gone many times in my career, 0 for 40, 0 for 35, I think, 0 for 30, something like that. many times in my career. That's six days without getting hit. That's brutal. It's five days, four days without getting hit. That sucks. Yeah. It's not a good feeling going to the field. So you got to watch some Dig Me videos for sure. What would be like the one that you would go to the most if you're trying to get out of a slump?
2:15:47Like highlights or swings? Yeah, yeah. Like what video would you look up if you're feeling down? Well, 2019 was a good season. 2018 was a good season 24 was good You type in like Francisco Lindor 2018 highlights At this point now I have the video guy make me the video Oh that's perfect You got your own highlight What if he slipped in like a Frank the Tank rant in the middle of it Frank don't do it for me Frank is not a lover He don't do it for me He don't do it for me yeah it's at this point I got the videos I'm trying to get him to make me like videos with songs and stuff that's awesome I guess we kind of have the same thing here think about a video of you guys walking into a studio yeah it would be sick but at Barstool we do the reverse where our guys make videos of us looking terrible because that's the funniest way those get the most traction those get you pumped up yeah they make us look fat and stupid and they're like hey look at this but those get the best views yeah i guess that's like our hitting a home run hitting a home run is actually like the like when you strike out that would be like the best thing that we could possibly do yeah it's like strike out and look really stupid doing it yeah and then memes it's his job to to put that out amplify it amplify it and let everybody see it and then memes is like that clip's doing really good yeah of you looking like an asshole and then we're like great this is this is mentally healthy thank you uh i i This might be a dumb question about playing defense versus offense, but we always talk about being in a slump on offense.
2:17:23There are times in a long season where you go through a slump, you have to keep your eye on the big picture. If you're in a slump defensively, how do you get out of that? You want the ball to be hit to you. You want it. You want the baseball to be hit to you. You want it. And struggling defensively, sometimes you can feel lonelier than struggling offensively. Because struggling offensively, there's nine of you contributing. And then defensively, you make an error, it can cost the game. So it could be a little more. That's why I don't know how relievers and starting pitchers, I don't know how they do it.
2:18:09Like, think about it. You got to work every five days. And if you don't succeed that day, you got to wait another five days. That sounds not good. Yeah, like middle relievers too, where like specialists. Yeah. Who like are coming in for one inning or for like three batters. And a lot of them are really, really good. But if you just fail once, like, oh, shit, you just cost us the entire game. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know how they do it. You know, we position players, we get so many reps and we get so many tries. Like we can make up for what we do. But pitchers, it takes longer for them. So I don't know how they do it.
2:18:49When you're going through the season, is there a moment where it's like, oh, man, this season is long? I know it's dog days in summer, but is there a part where you're like, damn, my body just needs a break? Because you've played a lot of your seasons, you've played every game minus two or whatever it is. You don't take days off. Yeah, for me, it's usually the beginning, like April, and like July, like somewhere around there. Yeah. August doesn't really feel that bad for me because I see playoffs. You see the finish line. Yeah, I see playoffs. Okay, here it comes. Get ready for it. April, it's just so damn cold.
2:19:30I know. You know, it's cold and it's just like days are longer. And then you're trying to like pace yourself for the year. And then there's July where, yeah, there's all-star break, but it's like it's that time where for me it's like, damn, I'm tired. And then after that it's like, all right, let's go. Yeah. It feels like the all-star break isn't even much of a break at all. if you made the all-star no yeah it's not it's it's the greatest event of the summer but you don't get a break it's like you're constantly get pulled in different directions yeah yeah i imagine that by the way i i had i gotta try to find it i was i was doing some research and i found if you if you're talking about pump-ups uh stuff uh someone wrote an article that things that francisco Lindor has never done um and it was pretty cool because it was like for it was it was all good it was like Francisco Lindor has never hit less than 12 home runs in a season Francisco Lindor it was good it was like it was basically like he's never done these things but they all were good things so that's how good you are that's good yeah yeah oh yeah Francisco Lindor has never been an average hitter like statistically you've never had a year where you were just like average or below average never hit fewer than 12 home runs um missed 40 games you never missed 40 games i don't know no in a season i don't think so yeah that's the durability is crazy how many home runs do you have do you know off the top of your head
2:21:11200 and what did you get this exact 57 no 280 whoa oh 280 i don't have i don't have the records okay in front of me i'm pretty sure cal ripkin jr has the record for most home runs as a shortstop got it i'm pretty sure god maybe a rod a rod yeah it feels like i mean obviously he had a lot as third baseman too uh cal rick can play so many games yeah i feel like it probably and all it says yeah it says cal ripkin i feel like you you might be it might not be the craziest thing to say that you could do that you could surpass cal ripkin right you're you're the active leader yeah you're the active leader for uh shortstops maybe any ice cream yeah maybe yeah get a couple more who were your like heroes growing up who'd you look up to Roberto Alomar was my guy Larkin was also my guy um like Jeter for sure um yeah those guys were the people I said you know what Jimmy Rawlings Jimmy Rowling was the guy that made it more realistically.
2:22:24Yeah. Because it's smaller, so you're like, okay, yeah, that's me. I'm not going to be 6 '3". Yeah. Yeah. All right. Well, this has been awesome, Francisco. We appreciate you coming. I got one last question for you. It's a rowback question, R-H-O-B-A-C-K.com. Promo code TAKE, 20 % off your first purchase, Q-Zips, Polos, Hoodies, Joggers, Shorts, rowback.com, promo code TAKE. We mentioned it at the start, early in the season. Obviously, it hasn't been the best start. But can you give maybe a message to Frank the Tank? Like, hey, listen, man. It's going to be okay. You're going to figure it out.
2:22:57Frank, keep losing weight. We're going to try to win more games so your stress levels stay at a good place. And we got this. Okay. That's nice. And then if we don't, then you can just boo us, boo me next time we're home. He will. He will. Yeah, he'll take you up on that offer, I'm sure. My mic stand just broke. That was Hank. Yeah, I know. Hank and Max laughed at me. I was like, hey, we should fix this stuff. They just didn't do anything. I have one last question, and you can tell me if this is the stupidest question you've ever heard. Oh, it's stupid. Okay. No, you're right. If I played on the Mets, I would sometimes get distracted by Mrs.
2:23:39Met. Have you ever been distracted by Mrs. Met? She's hot. She's caked up. No. No? No. I'd say put it away Respect the ring Respectfully I'd knock you out of the park Yeah respectfully We disagree I guess we have different tastes in women You guys would be surprised who Mrs. Matt is What? But it was sadder yesterday when people were acting like the tournament wasn't even going to happen and it was over immediately.
2:26:39Not the case. I was, though, I was doing laundry yesterday. I do have like a laundry in my unit, but in my building, we have like a big laundry room. So sometimes if I'm trying to just bang out laundry, I'll go down there and do like three or four loads at the same time. A lot more efficient. So I was doing that yesterday. I was waiting for my wash to get done. And like five minutes left. So I pull up a video on my phone. I'm watching it. And all of a sudden, it goes from playing out of my iPhone speakers to connected to my AirPods. Didn't have my AirPods case on me. So I was like, that's weird.
2:27:18I don't have my AirPods on me. Realize that my AirPods were in my pants, which were in the washer. So they're dead. They can survive. I think they survived, but it doesn't sound good. I've done it. So that's probably like pods number 10 down. I got a take. But yeah, it was tough. It was a tough realization where I was like, where are my AirPods on? They're not. Like, it wouldn't have connected. They're upstairs. That's too far to connect. Yeah. Don't have my case on me. Like, how is that possible? And then I realized, like, oh, fuck. I think becoming mature has meant for me that I've stopped even trying to own the AirPods.
2:27:56That was going to be my take. I gave up. I don't know if this is a hot take or if people agree. I think AirPods fucking suck. Yeah, I gave up. You lose them. They're never like the charging, everything. It just sucks. I'd rather have wired headphones. You won. Yeah. Are wireless just the actual headphones that go around your ears? Yeah, like the big Bose. Yeah, like noise canceling. I've given up completely. It's a sick joke that they even made us try to work with these things for the last 10 years. They made the technology too. It's too small. It's too hard to keep track of. They figured out a way to basically say, hey, we're going to make this thing that looks cool that you're going to want to buy that you're going to lose or break or lose again.
2:28:36And then you're going to have to rebuy it out. 100 % out on AirPods. Really half the trick of starting a business is making a good product that your consumer will lose constantly. And the biggest scam going is if you lose the case, you can't just buy a new case. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, no, I've been out on AirPods for a while now because it's also just, and especially if you have multiple AirPods in the house, then you connect to, like I've connected to my wife's AirPods and she connects mine and you figure it out. Like there's just too much Bluetooth going around. I'm out. I can use wired headphones.
2:29:10No problem. So just go to wired. And also the best part about wired headphones is you can lose them and you don't give a fuck. They're like 30 bucks. You lose them. I have probably 10 pairs of wired headphones just scattered in very, like, a couple in my car, a couple in my office, a couple in my house, like, random coats. I just know that I'll always be able to figure out where there's wired headphones. I also have, like, one earbud of, like, four different sets of earbuds. Yeah, like a left sock. Yeah, that are around my house. I, like, for some reason just hang on to them in case I find the other one and the case.
2:29:45So now you're free, Hank. Just get done with it. Yeah, wired life. Wired for life. Yeah. Move on. This also probably is me showing that I don't work out very often. Because I feel like that would be the one. People are going to respond and be like, yeah, wired headphones suck when you're trying to work out. And I just completely forgot about that. Because it's not part of my life. It's not that bad. People worked out with headphones before. Yeah. But that is, it just dawned on me, that is going to be the main, like, dude, way to show that you don't work out. Yeah, guilty as charged. Yeah. For a sitting.
2:30:20Yeah. My Fyre Fest of the week. I've had actually a really good week. I've enjoyed my week so far. But there was one thing that happened to me yesterday, which is the handicapped police are on my bumper again. And I think it happened a little bit last year, too. But now I've got people being like, you're lying about your handicap, because I was talking about the whole breaking 110 thing. For a second there, I thought you were talking about your car bumper. And my handicap sticker. sticker no the fun thing which you do people don't know that about pft he does illegally have a handicap sticker so somebody asked me what my handicap is i say i'm 5 8 yeah and it's a funny joke that everybody likes uh but no people are people are mad about my handicap my handy i i was perfectly transparent when i was talking about the breaking 110 thing right now since it's been out of season chicago i've been using the 18 birdies handicap to log some of the rounds which is a little bit different from the ghin but people are looking up the ghin hank as as you know and then And they're like, you're a 20-hand...
2:31:19Yes, on GHA, I am 100 % 20-handicap. And the Fyre Fest really for me was the fact that for the first time, I started to care that people were like, you're lying about your hand. I think that's part of the stages of becoming a golfer is having to defend your... Last year, people were like, that's not your handicap. And I was like, that's very funny that people care. Now I'm like, fuck you. I will prove to you that that is my handicap. And it's just, I feel like that's becoming old or becoming just more into golf. Um, but yeah, that's really, that's the worst thing that happened to me this week.
2:31:52That's a good week. That and also like staying up until midnight last night, just thinking about how the spear goes through the W and giving me a lot of anxiety. Yeah. I had a two quick ones. One was, and you guys know this because I texted the group. Uh, I just, I don't know why, but I, well, I do know why I'm going through, we're doing some construction in my house and I just hadn't turned on my computer in my, in my basement, uh, in like three months. Cause we haven't had to record zoom late. just didn't know my computer password and just sat there typing in, I don't know, 75 variations of it.
2:32:25So frustrated to the point that I had to call all business Pete and be like, tell me my password. He actually knew it, which is also scary. That's concerning. He just knows all my passwords, but I'm happy that he does. But yeah, I think it's part of like getting old and I don't know. I just not knowing your password. Having to call someone to be like, what's my password is probably the oldest you could possibly feel about anything yeah that's actually way way worse that pete was like actually i do have it it took him a while but then he got it two old guys getting the password yeah i texted you guys be like who knows my password no one did my advice was to just walk around for five minutes and then try again that's like that's how i yeah it's like unplugging your body and plugging it back in well it's also i had a moment where i just um i i realized too like i i i've said this before but like if i ever get like a catastrophic injury or anything like to shoot me like a horse i'm a give up guy there was a moment where my wife was trying to help me and i was like fuck this i'm just throwing this computer in the trash i'm just gonna go buy a new one tomorrow she's like that is the most ridiculous thing ever and then finally we got it but yeah i do give up quickly you can figure out if you had to how to do a complete reset of your computer yeah maybe and then the other one was just i just every now and then with little kids i think this is relatable people have kids that they get they get zingered and they just have no response i was I was having a disagreement with my son, my soon to be seven year old last night where he wanted me to go get him something.
2:33:48And I was like, you get it. You have two feet. Go get it. And he's like, I went to school all day. I ran around. I went to recess. I went to the gym. You went to work and sat all day. And I was like, yeah, you know what? You're right. I'll go get it. Yeah. He just nailed me. I was like, I went through. I cataloged through my day. I was like, yeah, I actually sat for 99 % of my day. So that's what we do. And that was a little hurtful to just be like, yeah, I did sit all day. You know who else sits all day? Race car drivers. That's a hard job. Pilots. They sit all day. People with ear to bowel syndrome.
2:34:26FDR. And he won World War II. Facts. I am going to start back up the Chinese workout. Maybe Sunday will be the first day. We'll go live. We got to do it. Got to do it. Got to get. Got to get. It's T-shirt weather. Zach. My Firefish of the Week is just housing. I've got an apartment where my lease is currently coming up. And I was thinking about maybe branching out, moving somewhere else. Me and the administration at the current apartment complex have had some back and forth. Yeah, you've got a heads. So I thought maybe fresh start, we figure something out. And there's two routes you can take. You can maybe go manage a building, but guess what?
2:35:00Nobody's calling you back. And also, if you try to go like a guy who gets you into the building, there's like a secret code where they'll show you a video, but they won't tell you where the apartment's at. They won't say the name of the building or the street unless you confirm that he's your guy. It feels like insider trading, and then you can go the independent route, but every apartment I call independently, you look up the address and find out it's not a real place. It's a scam, and they're using fake photos. So it's like you either get scammed by the managed building guy or you get scammed by the independent guy who doesn't even live in Chicago.
2:35:28He lives in a different country, and he's just posting photos online at a good rate. I have a question for you. I have a question for you. I have a question for you. Do you know that realtors in Chicago are free for rentals? They cannot charge you. A realtor cannot charge you to find a rental property in Chicago. It's not like New York. New York, remember? They weren't trying to charge me, but they won't give me any information without locking in. Let's get an AWL realtor to help you out. They're like... Just get a realtor. It's the easiest thing in the world. Someone listening to this right now is a Chicago realtor who will get you a fucking pimp pad.
2:36:01A pimp palace. Zach, I need you to have multiple rooms. that would be huge for square footage you can afford multiple rooms that would be huge square footage yeah that would be huge so when you're when are you moving into june is when my uh let's get it let's get zach an awesome apartment how many doors do you have right now one interior doors two three wait what a bathroom we got i have a washer dryer door bathroom door front door three washer dryer has a door okay bathroom door he's got one he's got one interior door yeah so you You have no bedroom door. No. Your bedroom is your living room.
2:36:36It's in a studio. Yeah. Let's get you some rooms. I want you to have two, maybe three rooms. Yeah. Three is gluttonous. But what? Three is when you start accumulating stuff, you know? You could have three rooms. You could have a room that you stream in. You could have your living room. You could have your bedroom. Imagine. Yeah, you're right, though. Actually, the three rooms might be great. Like, that could be all time. But have you got... These Chicago... Let's start with one. Let's start with one. Let's start with... No, two. We wanted two. We needed to get two. Yeah, a bedroom and a living room.

2:40:45No, I went back to sleep. Oh, no. No, I went back to sleep. I woke up at five. You rolled off the toilet into the toilet. Are you using your bath? It's just the biggest bidet ever is your bath? This is incorrect. This is incorrect. Okay. But yeah, now I'm starting to think like around 8.30 in the morning. I'm like, Max is probably naked right now in a bath. That's been like guaranteed every day. Oh, I don't need that. Connor. I'm fat. No. No, I'm fat. I'm sick of you complaining about this. This is my life. You've had one day where people called you fat online, and you've acted like it's the worst thing in the world.
2:41:22It is every single thing that I post. Not everything's about you. You have been crying. That's all we've heard about it. Let me explain it. Go ahead. Are you done? Max, are you done? So we have a golf video coming out Sunday. Everyone should go watch it. I'm the part where I take YouTube. almost broke the podcast apart oh you do look fat yeah I look fat as fuck memes what was that it was a bad tuck I had a bad tuck the shirt was hanging didn't know memes had a fupa yeah it's bad tuck memes being the fattest guy in the pod doesn't get talked about you're right they call me Big Bertha I thought memes was closer to Hank or PFT's build he's closer to Max and larger than Big Cat oof oof So memes, what are we going to do?
2:42:15Part of my meme is so hard. We also told you your look was bad. We did. There was no belt, right? There was no belt. I was going to say meme is pure sex. Yeah, the no belt shirt tuck in, it's a choice. It makes it look like my stomach is hanging. I think we told you to just go, because you were half tucked. That was your problem. It's a large shirt. but you just go you just go you just go fully untucked I mean I am fat I'm just wide I aspire to have that locker one day yeah go watch the video it's gonna be awesome Hank you excited really good stuff it's a good it's an entertaining video and if you are stinging to yourself right now I'm not gonna watch the video unless I get to see Hank golf twice as much as everyone else well good news he does left the end right except when he's chipping and when he's putting No, I chipped and putt lefty in this video.
2:43:09All left-handed? Yeah, in this video. Yeah, he did. I remember he putted lefty. All right. Yeah. It was a very funny video, though. It was from Spring Break. Okay. Numbers. Good show, boys. Two. Eleven. Good luck, Max. What? Good luck. On Sunday. Oh, yeah. Fifty-six. Tens. Eleven's coming. Eleven. Oh. Eleven's coming. Twenty-three.
2:43:3723. Yes. Two. Two. Boys are late. Rip it. They're not here. Yeah, I did. We have a percentage. The guy who does the pardon my balls website is now tracking PFT's success rate on birthdays. Oh, I love that. That's so arbitrary. PFT commenter. That's a 79.8 % happy birthday success rate. That is a great percentage. Are you kidding me? Yeah. Is it arbitrary or is it good?
