Welcome to Pardon My Take presented by DraftKings. The crown is yours. Today is Monday, January 26th, and it is NFL Conference Championship Sunday. Whop! Whop! Whop! Whop! Did you throw in a whop? Whop! You threw in a whop? Whop! Yes, boom. Okay, boom.
2:37Whop! Hank? Yes, boom. In Denver? In Mile High! Jared S.D.D.M. got the scoring started early after tossing a Chlamide TD out of Courtyard Marriott Sutton. Then, on a fourth and one at the Patriots 14, R.J. Hampton Harvey had his shot blocked down for an incompletion after a tremendous play call from Patriots defensive coordinator Zach O 'Karrr. Two drives later, Jared P. Stiddy dropped back with a looped up ball, but Christian Larry Ellison looked like an oracle who could see the future and forced a fumble and a whack and a whack. Patriots recover. Drake May made them pay with his legs, scoring on a six-yard scaper.
3:22Then came the snow. Andy Arora-Pegorogales put the pats up three with the only made field goal of the game. And then, after being given prime field position, Will was looking like a putz after missing a game-time field goal that was tipped by Lawrence Superman. Taylor III, with the game on the line, third and six. I forgot to finish this boomer But Drake May Put the game away And ended everyone's Patriots haters chances of winning the game Don't act like you're reading boom You're not reading anymore Another trip to the Super Bowl You're not even reading New England Patriots You're not even reading Patriots PFT is sick Pass her in the soupy They win 10 7 What?
4:13Thanks Thanks boom No problem, Boom. Okay, and we head out to Seattle where the needle was dry. Sorry, TJ Watt, for the NFC Championship game. The Seahawks came out hot with the collectibles king, Kenneth Brandon Walker, as he gobbled up yards and told the crowd to keep hollering. The Rams answer with two field goals from the great Cornholio, Meebus and Butthead, and then open things up for Kyron Serena Williams, and he said, on the way to a Rams touchdown. but they forgot about one man. I'm sorry, Miss Jackson, Smith the Jigba. He is for real. Never meant to make your cornerback cry. I apologize a trillion times as the Seahawks go into halftime with a 17-3 lead.
5:01And in the second half, the LGB Seahawks came out and said, we are all bobo-sexuals. Ha-ha, come on, Jake. I see if you smoke a PCP, Jake. as Seattle Denzel Washington had a bobo quake. The Rams responded with not Devontae Friday, not Devontae Saturday, but Devontae Sunday. Catching some chocolate rain made me catch a cool two-yard touchdown to make it 24-20. But Alex Cooper hit him with the cup cup 9 ,000, sucking up Donald's balls for some big catches and a score to put the Seahawks up big before Tariq. Woulin' it be nice if you were smarter and you kept it to yourself? Woulin' it be nice if you were nicer and left the field on fourth and 12?
5:55Woulin' it be nice? Then Puka Nuclear caught a bomb. But the Seahawks came back out and took control of the field and put their fours up the Rams' asses, Leading to a Super Bowl reunion of Mike and Mike. Hey, Golik. Hey, Mike. Hey, Golik. Hey, Greeny. I'd like to say we're dedicating today's episode to 1-800-Flowers. Promo code Mike and Mike. Top left corner of your screen. Promo code Mike. My wife doesn't let me eat grapes unless I'm using a fork and a knife, Mike. I'm a nerd. I'm a jock. That's wild. the Seattle Seahawks are going back to the Super Bowl 31 27 and that was your fastest two minutes from conference championship Sunday brought to you by our friends at Chevy playoffs separate the pretenders from the football guys it's win or go home and you need a truck that plays like it's on a rookie deal hungry tough and ready to grind Chevy Silverado doesn't take plays off no drama no contract holdouts, just pure grit.
7:03If trucks had stats, this one's leading the league in pancake blocks and yards after contact. So while your team fights to win the big game, make sure you've got the MVP of dependability in your driveway. Chevy Silverado, built for the playoffs, built for football guys. To learn more about Silverado, visit Chevy.com. Okay, conference championship Sunday in the books. Super Bowl 60 is set. the Patriots versus the Seahawks in two weeks in Santa Clara. And we'll start with... Get that smirk off your face. We haven't even started. I'm happy. I love doing this show with you guys. Smiling in our face.
7:42This is the best show, and I love you. I'm a happy guy. Our boy's a champion. Patriots 10... I do this every Sunday. Yeah, every Sunday. You're exactly like this. Patriots 10, Broncos 7. What a game. AFC Championship game. It was an ugly one, to say the least. The snow showed up hard in the second half. Oh, yeah. That was a clean, pristine green field for the first half. Much of the third quarter, too. And then, listen, I love watching snow football. This is what they're trying to take away from you. All the dome stadiums that are being built right now, if you want a Super Bowl, got to have a dome.
8:17Every team wants a dome. They're trying to steal snow football away from you. And honestly, if you watch this game, I kind of agree with it. Well, okay, but here's the thing. I love snow football. I know. Everyone's talking about how bad this game was and how the weather affected it. It was the same in the first half. There was no weather in the first half. And it was 7-7 based off of one Jarrett Stidham bomb to Marvin Mims and then one Jarrett Stidham dodo play where he just threw the ball and fumbled it backwards and the Patriots scored. So it's not like the weather made this game ugly. This game was going to be an ugly survival of the fittest type of game from the jump.
8:56Yeah. That's how it was. I mean, the Broncos defense played their ass off. The Patriots defense played their ass off. Both quarterbacks struggled. And Jared Stidham and his tail couldn't get it done. Yeah. Not built for the cold. Not built for the cold. We got into a debate during the game on whether or not the tail was good or bad for a quarterback. I think we came to the conclusion that a tail on a wide receiver would be awesome. Yeah. Right? tail on a quarterback maybe not the greatest thing ever but I just want to say I want to be the bigger man in the situation and congratulations to Hank you were right you said week zero you're gonna have the best team on the podcast well he also said three years ago the Patriots would be in the Super Bowl in five years he did listen like I said I am done fighting against Hank I'm done fighting against Patriots fans it's you'd have better luck rooting for the tide not to come You'd have better luck rooting for the sun not to rise in the east every morning.
9:51That's where the sun rises, Hank. It's on the east side. You'd have better luck rooting against your... Hank knows that from his luxury condo that overlooks Lake Michigan. I was also thinking the time he spends on boats. He's probably very familiar with the tides. We're going to get into Hank in a minute. But this is just... If you hate him, you don't hate him enough. From what he has planned for the next two weeks. The way I see it is you've got two options. One, you can keep fighting. You can keep dreaming the impossible dream. That's another Don Quixote reference, Hank. I'm sure you've finished that book by now because it's been so long.
10:26Oh, do they have the – PFT, do they have Don Quixote? Do they have the chapters of Don Quixote in the golf simulator? They don't. Oh, okay. So then he wouldn't have finished it. No. So you can keep doing this. You can keep fighting and hoping and praying that nothing good happens to the New England Patriots. Or you can just choose to profit off of it. I've made the decision to just profit off of it because it's inevitable. Starting now, I've made the decision. That's good. Yeah. Patriot Super Bowl. That's just what's going to keep happening over and over. Is there just a franchise that has a horseshoe shoved up their ass and you can accept it or you can fight against the inevitable and be miserable.
11:03And I'm choosing love. I'm choosing to love the Patriots from now on because Hank was right. I was wrong. Congratulations, Hank. So the bet that you guys made, which is still ridiculous because I remember so vividly sitting in that whatever it was, like a Courtyard Marriott in the middle of great week. I think it was in Buffalo. We were eating. We had some pizza. It was late after a long day. Probably Lenovo pizza. Yeah. And it was a bet that was made that was it was Mac Jones Patriots. And PFT said the Patriots won't be back in the Super Bowl for five years. And they shook on it. And it was a$50 ,000 bet.
11:39and this is three years into it, four years into it? I would have had one more year. So it's four years into it. They're back in the Super Bowl. You owe him$50 ,000, and it came on a third and six to ice the game. Yeah, but I actually think that Hank should be thanking me for that. I agree with you on this one. I agree with you. Josh McDaniels very clearly listens to part of my take. Yeah. As he should. Because there were two third and sixes that the Patriots had today. One, they ran a draw play. They handed the ball off, didn't let him pass it. Second one, they told Drake may run the football.
12:09They actually didn't tell Drake May. He just did that on his own. Well, maybe Drake listens. He listens. Maybe he listens, and he knows that his one weakness is third and six, so his completion percentage on that down being twice, like two times lower than the league average. So they obviously listened to the show. As I told you at the time, Hank, this was to warn Drake May. They listened to me, and he won the football game. So maybe you should be thanking me for this victory. You should. Yeah, I'll be the bigger man. PFT. Not hard to do. You were right, yeah. Stat hole, he did his work. I don't know how many hours you had him working on Drake May's stats this year, but it turned out to benefit the Patriots in the long run.
12:49So thank both of you guys. I did it out of love. So, all right, let's just do it, Hank, because then we can talk about the Broncos, because the Broncos have to be sick with how this game went. Sick. Absolutely sick. Sick. Because it was as winnable as winnable could get for them, and they were a Jarrett Stidham. Just basically going into the game, they had to say, hey, Jarrett Sidham, don't do anything really, really stupid, especially in the shadow of our own end zone. And he did exactly that. And then they also had, at the end of the game, the bad punt, which the Patriots had bad punts all day.
13:19The Broncos had good punts. The bad punt that got them the ball at the Patriots 33. They get basically no yards. They get a field goal blocked. And then we find out afterwards, Will Lutz said they couldn't see where the lines were, and they lined up a yard closer than they should have been. Oh, wow, so it should have been a penalty. No. No, there were six yards behind the line of scrimmage. You don't understand football, buddy. They were closer to the line of scrimmage. That's not a penalty. Got it. Got it. Got it. Okay. Oh, so if they had lined up correctly, it wouldn't have got tipped. Sweetie, that's not a penalty.
13:52That's just you can line up wherever you want to line up. God, I thought you were talking about the center, but that's all right. No, no, no. You're right. I don't know, Paul. I just know championships. You do. You just know winning. So it's a sickening game for, I mean, even I think Nick Benito said, like, it's sickening knowing that we were the better team. Well, you weren't because you lost. Yeah. Can't say that. Knowing we're definitely the better team. No. I have a question. If Bo Nix starts that game, do you think the Broncos win? Yeah. Well, Patrick Sertan retweeted a tweet from someone saying, safe to say Bo Nix would have Bo Jangle fried these.
14:25Word I can't say. That's a shame. Is that true? We'll never know. That's also true. Yeah. I would say no. That's also true. You could say yes. Embrace the bait. The Stidham fumble is just one of the all-time. Like, dude, just take a sack. And then also, Sean Payton, you're fourth and one. You're an underdog with your backup quarterback in the AFC Championship game. The game has gone perfectly for you to start the game. I do like coaches that are aggressive, but at that point, it's like, dude, take a two-score lead. I was okay with going for it. I hated the play call. Yeah. Why are you putting the ball in Stidham's hands right there?
15:02I didn't like that. I thought it was the right thing. If you can get that first down, you can get a touchdown on that drive. That feels like a very, very winnable game from that point on for the Broncos. So I'm not going to knock Sean Payton for being aggressive. I just didn't like the play call on him. I don't know how much advance. Obviously, they knew more. My very limited, like I searched the weather app maybe this morning or last night for Denver, and you could see at 5 o 'clock the snow emoji came in. I'm assuming they had a more advanced report on what the weather was so you would think, I don't know, did they know that that big of a storm was coming and if they did that I feel like changes what they should have done yeah, absolutely I don't know if that's something you can change far in advance but maybe wearing the neon orange jerseys going up against the all white jerseys that you couldn't see at all and also your defense was playing the Denver, the Broncos defense was lights out they had Drake, May in hell um other than like what other than the uh flea flicker to mac collins it didn't feel like the patriots offense ever had like a big chunk play that and like that they ever got into a real rhythm it was the mac collins play and then drake may running were basically the only yeah big plays that they had and hank you know i love drake may right yeah of course my concern is like are you really that confident for long term when you have a quarterback that's run first i don't think it's run first.
16:23Those guys can get injured. Listen, he didn't play the best two quarterback games of the season. I don't root for injuries, but if you have a quarterback that runs with the football that much, you're exposing yourself to a lot of hits and you can get injured. So I'm just concerned. That's all. Yeah, that's a fair concern. I think Drake, as he gets better, he'll learn to stay in the pocket more. But when he needs to run, he runs. And he proved that. I think he has as many rushing yards in the playoffs as Tom Brady. And Tom Brady has a bajillion more games. But yeah, he did what he needed to do.
16:50I think he struggled both games in the weather. He didn't play his best football. I think the defense picked him up. Yeah. Here's a crazy stat. Right now, Brady and May, through their first three games of the playoffs, Brady's completion percentage 61.9, Drake May 55.8, not quite as good there. But then you've got passing yards 572 to 573. Drake May has thrown twice as many interceptions as Tom Brady did. and then they both had the same number of rushing touchdowns. One. I have a stat for you, PFT. Kind of wild. Drake May is tied for winning percentage in conference championship games. Jane Daniels is tied for dead last.
17:32What do you mean? He's tied for winning percentage in championship games. Like Drake May's winning percentage in championship games is 100%. But he didn't include that part. Jane Daniels is tied for dead last at 0%. He's not good at stats. Yeah, you didn't get all the stat out the first time. He almost gets them. Some of the stat got stuck. It got stuck. Yeah. You're just so happy and I love seeing you happy. Drink a glass of water. Drink a little water. I'm good. I'm good. You guys can, you know, gaslight me and try and knock me down as much as you want. So, Hank, here's the deal. Commodore always pays his bets.
17:58I know that it's been about six, seven months since you have owed me$10 ,000. And I haven't seen that money yet. Yeah. You haven't paid him the money that you owe him? Well, we said on the show, I said I wanted to. No, I gave him Sarlays. None of the Sarlays hit. Those are throwaway Sarlays. I mean, if they had hit, you would have taken the money out of that. That doesn't make sense. It was your idea to do the Sarlets. Yeah. Well, so none of the money was repaid, correct? Correct. Factor fiction. Well, no. Factor fiction. Some of the money was bet per your request for Sarlets, so fiction. But then you - Did you guys play golf for it or something?
18:32We did play golf for it. Who won? And then I lost more money. Oh. And you didn't pay. And then we said, we'll see how the Patriots season goes. Okay. So Hank, Comets are always pays his bets. Right now, I've got - He's pulling out some cash. Here we go. I've got$2 ,000 right here. Oh, wow. It'll put a dent in that. Now, here's the thing. I know you like games. I know you like to have fun. You're a fun guy. You do like games. I'm a fun guy. You like to smile. You like to hang out with the boys. Please tell me that you set up some version of Saw. Well. It's like Hank is chained to that couch and he can't get out.
19:05Not quite. I mean, pretty close. I talked to Zach last week. We went ahead and we rented one of those cash cyclone machines. Oh, nice. That sprays the money up in the air. I actually think you guys shouldn't have rented it. I think I still have one. Do you really? Remember I bought one like three years ago? No, I forgot about that. I think it's somewhere in this office. Okay, well, now we got a second one. Okay. So, Hank, it's right outside. If you wanted to now or if you wanted to after the show is over, you can go. I'll pay it back to you$2 ,000 at a time in 40-second intervals where you'll have to catch all the money in the air.
19:37Okay. It'll be fun. Yeah, that is fun. It does sound fun. Yeah. Hank, now I have a question for you. Would you be willing to potentially do a double or nothing on the Super Bowl? Because that would be a lot of fun. I have been thinking about the money. For content. It is a lot of money. I do feel like just vibes, karma. I am going to donate something to charity, like$10 ,000. So no double or nothing on the Super Bowl? No, I want to give back before I lose it all. Because then I would just feel bad. This way. You don't believe? I believe. So then just do double or nothing. 100 grand. PNC would owe you 100 grand.
20:19Let's do 30K. No, that doesn't work for me. Double or nothing. It's double or nothing. No, it's double or nothing. So you hate charity. I'm trying to give money to charity. I love charity. If you do double or nothing, I'll give$5 ,000 to charity right now. Free of charge.
20:38Hank hates charity. All right, fine. I'll do that. I'll do that. I'll do that. I'll do that. I'll do that. I'll do that. Okay. Dana Farber Foundation PFT do you want to do that? Do I want to Well see Big Cat made Big Cat Wait wait wait Big Cat made it sound like Like he was offering the double I offered Hank He did offer I offered Hank the double or nothing Off the air beforehand And Hank got really scared He got scared as fuck I said I don't know You said you Big Cat was bullying And being like You have to do it You have to do it You have to do it I said I don't have to do shit You got scared But if you're going to donate 5 grand Yeah I'll do it Dana Farber I'll do it No problem So 80 grand yeah just straight up money line yeah yeah I love this so if the Patriots win the Super Bowl you go 80 well this kind of sucks because I rented the cash machine for like $1 ,400 but that's okay we'll have some fun with the cash machine I'm sure I'm sure you'll be able to take care of it yeah yeah yeah we'll take care of the cash grab we'll have some fun with the cash machine you feel good about that yeah fuck it Yeah.
21:43Okay. I love it. But you were hesitant at first. I want to give. I was like, I feel like there's just so much good karma and good things coming away. I'm giving it on your behalf. I know. So we're good. Yeah. Great deal. Hank. And we sold a thousand. What is that thing you have there, Hank? So we, you know, it was a stroke of good luck. I was pretty upset with PFT and his troll dog toy. So this was like in September. We got working. Shout out to the Barstool merch team, Pilar Allison. We got working on a PFT gnome. yeah i was like i want to make a pft life-size gnome uh we got it developed and they're like obviously not our normal merch i think that the land they got delayed from china so they're going to get shipped out you're doing a great job selling this well we sold a hell of a sale we sold out in 30 minutes oh we made a thousand we made a thousand and we sold all we sold out in 30 minutes because when we made them it was like oh there's not going to be as big stakes there's not going to be we weren't expecting this big promotion and this big like flux of people that hated PFT to come, but with all of your Patriot slander over the last month or two.
22:47I think it's people that like PFT. Yeah, I agree. I agree, Max. It is a great gnome. So describe it for the people. It's PFT as a garden gnome? It's life-size PFT with a nice little belly wearing a part of my take hat holding the football. It's such a funny thing. If I were to nitpick this, which I don't want to, the pointed hat is maybe a little... Look up gnome. Look up any gnome. I did look up gnome. As a matter of fact, Hank, I thought that a troll doll of me would have been a much better idea. But I like no. Because you just said, it's a troll doll. Like you, a little short. So it's a troll doll.
23:21I mean, listen, I'm not going to nitpick. I think it's very funny. And I think that maybe little PFT and little Hank will have some fun adventures together. Yeah. A thousand people, part of history. I mean, when you showed me that, you've been working on that. You showed me that like two months ago. Oh, yeah. And I was like, oh, man, I hope this sees the light of day. He's kind of adorable. It's perfect. Look at him. He is adorable. He's got a footballer in his hand. I like it. Yeah. I like it a lot, Hank. Good job. Thank you. Hey, PFT, credit to you. Yeah. Unlike Hank, who bitched and moaned about the dog toy and had a crisis.
23:52Yeah, had a crisis. You're taking this very well. I think it's kind of cool. I think it's an adorable little guy. Hell yeah. Yeah. Hell yeah. We all win. Good job. We all win. We all win like a man. We all won today. Yeah. We did. Charity, podcast made money, and now we got 80 grand on the line. 80 grand on the line. 80 grand on the line. I shouldn't have done that. Big Cat. Yeah. I think we should have a conversation about the New England Patriots. And I'm not saying this. I'm not saying it. But other people will have a conversation about them. I just want to be first to market to have the debate.
24:23Yeah. Because you will see a debate similar to this. Yeah. I have a feeling I know what debate you're going to come up with. And again, for the record, can we put like a flashing bright letters on the screen being like PFT does not believe this, but we need to ask the question. Max actually already. You can say Max believes. You're just reiterating what Max said. I was having a conversation with Max in the bathroom earlier, and he said, do you think the New England Patriots are the worst team to ever qualify for the Super Bowl? I don't think I said that. No, I think you said easiest schedule, easiest path to the Super Bowl.
24:54That's not what I said. Is this the worst a team has ever looked on their way to the Super Bowl? Okay, that's fair. But I mean, the question people are going to be asking on other shows, not ours, is this the worst team to ever make the Super Bowl? Hmm. I'm not a Super Bowl historian. Listen, you play the games in front of you, it just so happens that in front of them has been Justin Herbert with no offensive line, C.J. Stroud, ass. In the snow. What about the defense? Stid him with the tail. Yeah. Defense has been very good. I said that. And you guys have had great weather luck, too. Which, again, you play when you play.
25:29He said a weather luck. You've had great weather luck. He said a weather luck. I mean, a blizzard started the second you guys took the lead. And also in the Texans game. That is true. My man said weather luck. Yeah. I'm just saying. I'm not having the conversation. That'll be on SportsCenter. Weather luck. Is it real? Question mark? Yeah. Hank has taught us weather's not real. RG3 did say that this is the toughest path that any team has ever made on the way to the Super Bowl. Which he should credit me. I told Hank that he should start talking about that. When all the haters come out and say, like, is this the worst team ever to make the Super Bowl?
26:03just be like, we've gone against generational defenses, the Chargers, the Texans, the Broncos, and now you play against the Seahawks. If you beat those four teams, you should be saying we've had the hardest stretch of defenses ever. The beauty about being in the situation, you guys never have been, but it's like, it's all talk. That's not true. When you're the team in the Super Bowl, all the talk around it is just talk. It's just people that have hated the Patriots for 20 years with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. That doesn't go away. That sticks with them no matter what they say, even if they're a national sports podcaster on TV as an analyst.
Read the full transcript
26:40They're just trying to discredit a team because of personal feelings and personal hatred. We're focused on the Super Bowl. The conversation about if we're the best, worst, second, it does not matter. All that matters is winning the Super Bowl. We have a chance to do that. You guys can talk all you want and grade the Patriots how you want and say whatever you want. it's not taking away the fact that in two weeks we're playing for a super bowl it is another one it was a seventh one the joke was made fourth on this podcast since it's existed the joke was made a lot on online but spent all year being like we got to be done with the chiefs and then the chiefs were done and then the patriots came back that's what happened yeah this it feels different though when it's the Patriots.
27:25It's more fun. Yeah. What? Yeah, of course it is for him. You love the Patriots. Can you just say the quarterbacks, if you win this Super Bowl, say the four quarterbacks with a straight face. Justin Herbert, CJ Stroud, Jared Stidham, Sam Darnold. Those are all top draft picks. Jared Stidham was not a top draft pick. Oh, sorry. Three out of four. My bad. You said all. so 25 % of those were not okay I'll take 75 % that's a good hit what do you mean 75 % of anything is good so the opposite would be 75 % 25 % of anything is bad which is Drake Mays completion percentage on 36 good one nailed it Hank I got a question for you can we just real quick for the listeners just go through your schedule if that's okay I'll start we got work this week we got work this week But so Super Bowl week, we usually go Sunday.
28:27You're going Friday. What are you doing on Saturday? Okay. This is where it's like, what are you doing Saturday? What are you doing Saturday? Doing with your kids, doing your hobby. I'm asking a question. I'm asking a question. You have kids. Don't get defensive. I don't care what Zach's doing. Zach's going to play video games. I was just asking a question. On Saturdays, we do what our hobbies do. What are you doing on Saturday? When you said schedule, I thought you were going to say, okay, you had the Raiders week one. I'm asking a question. What are you doing on Saturday? On Saturday, PFT and I are filming a video for our youth.
28:53Where? At Spyglass. Oh, okay. For golf. Nice, nice. And then Super Bowl Week? For content. Super Bowl Week, and then... I'm playing lefty. It's going to be... It could be... You know, I could... What if I break the course record? It would be the biggest, most viewed video in the podcast history. Pebble Beach. Views for the podcast. Pebble Beach. Money. Super Bowl Week. Are you going to the Super Bowl? I am planning on going to the Super Bowl, yeah. Where are you going to be sitting? I'm pretty sure... I don't know. It's 2BD. If you had to guess, if you had to just take a wild guess where you're sitting in the Super Bowl.
29:26Thankfully, one of my best friends in the world and my favorite people in the world, Dave Portnoy, is very rich. I'm assuming we're going to have good seats. Like maybe a suite? Maybe. Okay, so you're going to the suite in the Super Bowl. You're going to party all week. Again, that's content. And then right, partying all week is content. And then right after the Super Bowl. I'm not partying all week. There's no plans to party a week. Again, Friday, Saturday, when you guys go home, Big High, you'll probably be with your kids again. And PFT will be doing whatever with his fucking dog. I can't wait.
29:54I'll be doing kids and I'm going to fucking. Patriots are 1000 % winning this. When my phone, we're doing this. The way we're talking about this, they're winning the Super Bowl. When my in 10 years when we're still doing this podcast and my kids are grown up and I'm enjoying the fuck out of my life. And like I have, you know, I can sleep in and my kids are good kids and they're teenagers and you have your fucking babies and I can just laugh in your face and be like all those times, you piece of shit. I'll be like, damn, I wish I was you too. Yeah, I'm going to get you. But I made a choice. You made a choice.
30:26I made a choice to choose golf. You made a choice to choose kids. Okay. So you're going, and then you're going from the Super Bowl to Orlando. No, I'll be back here. For more golf. For a podcast. No, I'll be back here. One of two weeks. Back here for work, and then I'm going to Orlando for golf for a planned work vacation, which you guys will be on vacation too. Yeah. One of two weeks. Hank, I got a question. You don't hate Hank enough. It's exciting. It's exciting. And they're going to win the Super Bowl. Let's all – PFC's going to lose 80 ,000, and the Patriots are going to win the Super Bowl.
30:54I just got done giving a speech how I'm done fighting the Patriots. Yeah, yeah. They're 100 % winning. They are 1 ,000 % winning this game. It's like I'm addicted. I'm addicted. See? Exactly. Exactly. You're proving my point. You can't get away from it. Their defense is very good. The Patriots' defense is really, really good. The defense hasn't looked good, though, right, Max? What? Has the team looked worse going into the Super Bowl? You said their defense looks good. Sorry, all right, sorry. I'll give... Has the team looked good or bad? That's like half the team. Yeah, the other half the team has looked bad.
31:29False. Have you seen the NFL films? Drake made 86 yards today. It was a blizzard!
31:37I was giving you a compliment. Like, the Patriots' defense is good. Well, I heard about you and PFT's shit conversation. Like, who has conversations with that in the bathroom? What do you want me to fucking say here, dude? I was saying that the Patriots have a good defense. You said they look good, but before you said the team looked bad. So I'm just trying to clarify. All right, dude.
31:59We've gone way too long in this episode without talking to memes. Memes, have you talked to Hank yet? Nope. Memes wasn't here today. What are your thoughts? They just did it again. They just did it again. This is a terrible day in NFL history.
32:19no one should be happy yeah and it's just it's it's sickening i do they're calling it the memes bulb because we'll talk about the second game but yeah he's gonna have this smirk on the whole week memes what do you what do you think when you see hank's face right now so much hate so much hate yeah so much hate this guy that i don't know i'd be happy for memes if you know what you would not be happy i was gonna say the jet but that's not very you would not be happy though he didn't know his defensive coordinator
32:59this is is it the first time since 2010 that the afc championship game didn't have tom brady or patrick mahomes in it uh that could be true and it's just the patriots again yeah there's only uh three bills bills bangles nope there's only three teams in the past was it 20 years can you guys name the third it's chasing patriots jets yep yeah there you go yeah jets stealers yeah jets colts yeah yeah the um yeah you know hank is like stop smiling like that smile can i tell you guys a side story about hank he's gearing up so this This is going to be the best two weeks of his life. He's so excited. We're doing the three-on-three tournament again this week, and Hank has already tried to lobby to get drafted on the team that could be tanking because he doesn't want to get injured.
33:51He basically just wants to show up for like five minutes and be out of the tournament so that he can stay healthy. Hank, if you guys win the Super Bowl. That's a fact. Can you rate? I want to spread out. It's a big money. We've got a lot of people. I've been fortunate. That's not what you said. To win all these bets and win all this cash. You said, no, I don't want to get hurt because I got the biggest. I got two weeks of just fun. Hypothetically, let's say that the Patriots win the Super Bowl. You're there in the suite with Dave Portnoy living the high life. You play the best round of your life at Spyglass left-handed.
34:20That's not happening. You just said what if you break the course record? Yeah, true. Keep it coming. I play the best. Yeah. And then you go to Disney World. You ride the rides probably with Drake May. You're on Space Mountain with him doing the whole nine yards. Where would that fall in your best weeks of all time? Oh, man. because you've had a great question great question uh i i we have to see you know just just how things went how the conversations went it's such a high list nothing is ever going to top the duck boat with missoula that was the greatest day of my life the summer hank so it would it would it would be below that but it could there's definitely a good chance it could slip into like the top three it could you could be in a top three week yeah yeah I got a question He's the worst Look at the smirk I know I want to be happy for my friends And I want to see my friends do well But the smile That damn smile Does Mike Rabel have to cut off his dick If the Patriots win this Super Bowl I don't know I think you should volunteer Yeah you should You should take one for the team It's kind of like when Missoula And you shaving your head thing Like you should volunteer as tribute I don't know the exact context I don't know if that was like I'll cut it off to win a Super Bowl this year when he said it or if it was like all time because that would be kind of a crazy statement.
35:41Are you going to continue no naps? Yeah, of course. Really? You have to. Okay. Flight out to San Francisco? Yeah, fuck it. You're going to raw dog it for the people? If I have to, yeah, I will. I think you got to raw dog it. I will. I'll be on that same flight, so I'll keep an eye out. I do raw dog it? I mean, you got to be locked in, right? The raw dog is locked into nothing. Yeah, but that's as locked in as it gets. I'll stay awake. That's a challenge. You will 100 % stay awake. Yeah, no naps. And then the car ride early in the morning. Listen, no fucking naps. What about after the round of golf when you had a couple cocktails in you?
36:22Been outside all day, walking around. No naps. What about Friday when you go out in San Francisco and you start partying, you go to a bunch of Super Bowl parties, and then Saturday you wake up and you're like, all right, I'm a little tired, maybe. I'll just sleep in. Okay. What about halfway through the week when we've done a bunch of interviews and me and Big Cat are waking up early, talking to everybody, and then you just start to drift asleep in the middle of a third podcast, usually on Thursday afternoon. It's a taxing week for you, dude. It's a really taxing week. Yeah. No, you have a nap that week.
36:55Usually it's been a while since we've been in a Patriots Super Bowl week, so it is a different mindset. said i'm not just going there for for laughs for a podcast i'm going with i'm going with yeah golf i got no no i got we got a job to do again the the golf is on an off day you can do whatever you want in your off wait wait hank that's not enough i thought i thought you were working i'm choosing to do overtime that's right yeah you're not yes you're doing whatever in your off time i will be on the clock yeah yeah big time hank clockwood yep time and a half it's and i actually thank you for doing that.
37:29You're welcome. I know you don't want to go to Spyglass again. No. It's the last place you want to be on Earth. I got to do what you got to do. All right. What else? I got one more question. This is another one that you'll see other people talking about. Not us talking about. What are the Patriots really good at? Their defense has been playing great. Yeah, they also their substitutions that they at the on their substitutions On the Stidham pick, the Broncos made subs, which then gave the Patriots opportunity to make subs. The clock was running. The Patriots players basically got off the field with like four seconds left before the ref moved the ball, and the Broncos were rushed.
38:11Stidham was rushed through a pick. So big on substitution. Great substitution team. Great substitution. Yeah. Situational football. They did it with the Chargers, too. Remember when the Chargers were driving, and they were like, they should keep the team on the field so they can't sub, and then they did, and the Patriots were able to switch out their defense. But most teams switch out their defense when they get the opportunity to match up against packages. But yeah, they did a good job with it by taking as much time as they possibly could. They used the rules to their advantage, which is good coaching.
38:41I agree. By who? Oker. What's his name? Zach Kerr. Okay. The block field goal was huge, obviously, We thought it was just a miss. It was going to be a hard field goal to make. Yeah. Leonard Taylor said afterwards, I just jumped in the air and got a taste of the ball. No ditty. Good that no ditties are still going on. It's just replaced no homo. Yeah. You can just say that. It's kind of funnier. Yeah. If you're the Broncos, you got to be just sick to your stomach that you had a... This was outside of Stidham's fumble was basically the exact game plan and layout of how the game goes that you needed.
39:27And you had it. So I've got a stat here. This is close your ears if you're a Patriots hater. The fewest points per game on offense in the playoffs for a team to reach the Super Bowl. Where would you think the Patriots fell in that list? Wait, say it one more time. Fewest points per game on offense in the playoffs for a team to reach the Super Bowl. I don't know. Low. Yeah, they're the sixth lowest to ever get there. What about the other teams at the bottom? Did they win or lose? Washington did win. Okay. I don't know. You have to go back like 40 years, basically. Yeah. With the exception of the Patriots in 2001, Tom Brady's first season, they averaged 13 points.
40:14Second season? Yeah. okay just i want to make sure you were right 2001 wasn't that tom brady's first season starting for the patriots it was okay it was the second season but okay tom brady's first season play actually playing as the starter for the patriots uh they were the most recent team to do it and they ended up winning here's a fun stat from jamie eisner uh the patriots have won as many games since December 21st of 2025 as the Titans have won since they fired Mike Vrabel. Crazy. Kind of wild. What did Nick Foles say about this game? I actually PFT, so I was waiting. We'll do Biggest Losers after the next game.
41:00Oh wait, he deleted the tweet. He deleted it? Damn. That's actually a pussy. When he deleted it. You can't delete that tweet. Can't find it. You can't delete that tweet. Oh, Max. Oh, no, Max. Yeah, you shouldn't have deleted it. You can't delete that tweet, Max. You know you can't delete that tweet. That's not even like a bad... No. It's a funny tweet. That's why I'm wondering if he deleted it after the game or if he deleted it because that was like too mean for Nick Foles. It could have been too mean for Nick Foles. Yeah. Could have very much. Because it's Nick Foles. Really nice guy. Friend of the program.
41:40Very nice guy. What's your confidence in Drake May going into the Super Bowl? 10 out of 10. 10 out of 10? Yeah. Why? Because he's fucking Drake May. He's won games against three tough defenses. Seahawks are also very tough. I know. Sometimes in the playoffs, though, you play not-so-good defenses, then you run into a juggernaut. The Patriots are up to speed going against really good defenses, so this is just another good test. And it's like he has learned from the last three games, there's not going to be snow issues. and he's going to ball out. Record when teams scored under 17 points. Justin Herbert, 2-16.
42:18Joe Burrow, 1-10. Josh Allen, 4-19. Patrick Mahomes, 2-7. Lamar Jackson, 3-7. Drake May, 2-0. In the playoffs. In the playoffs. Yeah. Again, I'm done betting against the Patriots starting now. Minus double or nothing. Starting now. Starting right now. Yeah. Right now. So you feel confident going into this game. We have a lot of time to break down the game. A lot of time to break down the game. A lot of, you know, there's going to be a lot of 2014 Super Bowl. I'll probably go home and watch that. You know, like the NFL films. Do your job tonight. Good memories for Patriots fans. Sam Darnold, I think, has horrific stats against the Patriots lifetime.
42:59I'm excited. I cannot wait for this game. I'm happy. I'm happy. I didn't really care one way or the other. I guess, do you want to wait for that game? Let's do a couple ads and then we'll do the NFC Championship game. Vastly different game in terms of watchability. Before we get to that game. I mean, it was. Football. Which was a more entertaining game? Oh, you're Mr. Football now? Yeah. You're Mr. Football now. Also, Kurt Warner sick to his stomach. You're Mr. Football now. Kurt Warner was sick to his stomach during this game. I don't even think you watched the first half of that game. I don't understand.
43:31I get I'm not an X's nose. You weren't in the cave. He was celebrating. I was over I was sitting There's TVs in this entire office You buffoon You can ask Okay Colton, Jack I was sitting here watching the game He was watching tape Pushing Pushing gnomes Sold a thousand of them No big deal How many gnomes have you sold in your life Fucking zero Hank is the best gnome salesman we got I might not know the most X's and O's about football And I never claim to know Everyone's like you don't watch the games I have to watch the games I've watched every Patriots game since this podcast has existed. I've been here every Sunday.
44:06There's documented proof. I just said that. I get it. Didn't you stop watching some of the games at the end of the Mac Jones? You were just not in the room where we were all watching football. I'm talking about... That's not like that crazy for me to assume you weren't watching the game. I'm not talking about you. That is a little... I'm talking about the fans where they're like, you didn't watch football. It's like, I do watch football. I don't necessarily absorb all of it. I'm not like a football savant, but I've watched every single Patriots game for the last 10 years. Except for a few Mac Jones games at the end.
44:33Not even that. It's like we're still here. I don't like I'm watching the games. The games are on. I'm watching here. President accounted for. Good tech, though. Hank, thank you. We're good with the AFC Championship game? Why don't you stay locked in because we're going to talk about the team you're going to play. And you love football. After you play Pebble. Yeah, let's do it. I think we're playing golf too, aren't we? I don't think we're going to have time. I wanted to, but I don't think I have time. I mean, we've got to do a ton of stuff Super Bowl week. I know. That was your offer. Yeah, I know.
47:11But I just looked at the schedule. There just wasn't enough time. It's all good. It's all right. But Saturday, again, we were saying it because we just stopped so that Colton could get a jump start. This last Saturday was my first Saturday that I had off from work since Labor Day. But you're right. Thank you for working this Saturday at Spyglass. I got you. I appreciate that so much. A guy like me, I take a lot of Saturdays off. Someone punches out. Someone else has got to punch in. Yeah, you're right. I'm passing the baton. You took the load for the last five months. I got you for one Saturday.
47:40Your watch is over. That's my last. One Saturday at Pebble Beach. You got me. Passing of the torch. You got me. Thank God. No problem. It's like, you know, the footsteps in the sand. Yeah. There's only one footstep. It's Hank carrying me on his way to spyglass. That's exactly what it is. You're not going to be in the sand, though, because Hank's going to shoot a course record. That's true. He won't be in the sand all day. I'm going to shoot a million, and then I'm going to have the greatest day. Okay. NFC Championship game. Seahawks 31, Rams 27. Similar to – I want to talk a lot about the Seahawks, but in terms of the Rams first.
48:13similar to the Broncos they are going to be thinking about this game for a very very long time because the two moments that stick out to me are the end of the first half when they get the ball back with a minute and 20 can't get a first down have to punt back to Seattle Seattle then gets the Jackson Smith and the Jigman was so good in this entire game and then obviously the muff punt and you can throw in the fourth and goal where they couldn't convert but that was a game that the Rams felt like they had, and Stafford was playing great, and they just couldn't get over the hump. They couldn't get that lead late that would cement them into the Super Bowl.
48:54I would add in a couple third and longs too. Yeah. Walker had a big third and long where he took it out of bounds, barely got there, and then Cooper Cup at the end, stretching out for that first down, going across the middle. If either one of those gets stopped, there's a good chance that the Rams go down and score because their offense looked really good today. Yeah. And Puka Niku was basically unstoppable for most of the day. Devontae Adams was awesome. He was great. Their whole offense, I mean, Blake Corham, Kyron Williams. Yep. The Rams, Matthew Stafford in Seattle this season, threw for two games, 831 yards, six touchdowns, and he went 0-2.
49:30Yeah. And that's brutal. And that's also a testament to the Seahawks because this game to me, Sam Darnold, the balls on him, the moments, you know, we've been asking the question for all season, hey, is there going to be a moment where Sam Darnold just, you know, turns into Sam Darnold? He stepped up so big in this game that throw to Cooper Cup to basically, you know, cement the game away. Just big play after big play to Jackson Smith to Jigba. He had the patience. He had the pocket awareness. Never made the big mistake. He is. He had that bomb to Shahid, too. Yeah. He was just awesome, and I'm so happy for him.
50:08we could remember we never gave up on two guys baker mayfield and sam donald one of them's now playing in the in the soup bowl and it was just seattle like the the the seahawks defense has been awesome all year the rams have been their kryptonite but they were able to survive yeah i think my big takeaway from this game is just i'm i'm actually very very happy for sam donald i am too i think that's awesome because sam donald was thrown out when he was on the the carolina panthers he was like yesterday's trash and they ran an offense that was completely unsuited to what it was that NFL teams expect him to do with Matt Rule and then he goes to San Francisco and he says I want to just be in a good place with good coaches for a little bit I'll be a backup I don't care he plays with them for a little bit learns goes to Minnesota has his career resurrected then then Minnesota throws him out because they've got nine which in retrospect you get that like Yeah, you got to roll with nine.
51:01And then he goes to the Seahawks, and people are like, we'll see what happens with him because he had a bad end of his season in Minnesota. All the doubters came out of the woodwork, and they're like, this is the same Sam Darnold that we saw when he was going into hyperdrive or whatever with the Jets. Was that the hyperdrive years, Mims? It was the mono years. The mono years. The mono years. But the point stands. It's like everyone expected Sam Darnold to regress to what they saw at the end of his career with the Jets, his career with the Carolina Panthers, and those last two games in Minnesota.
51:32It's almost like people were hoping that that would be what Sam Donald became when he was in Seattle. And all he's done since he's been there is win football games. And he shut everyone up today with almost 350, three touchdowns. And like I said, just played almost a perfect game where Sam Donald used his feet when he needed to for a couple big plays. got sacked a couple times. They were well-timed blitzes by the Rams. He played a perfect game. Sam Darnold shut everyone up. I'm very, very happy for him. He's a guy who, like you said, he's been bounced around and cast off, and it's like time and place matter a lot.
52:12And he has met the moment, and he's now playing in a Super Bowl. And that defense is really, really good. The Rams lit him up a little bit, but that defense is legit. that Tariq Woolen almost had the worst mental mistake that you could ever imagine. Well, he did. He did. He had the worst two minutes that you could ever have on a football field. It ended up not costing them the game, but it very easily could have. When he broke up that pass, he probably maybe could have picked it off, but it got knocked out of Nakua, I think, right? Who, by the way, Puka Nakua, on balls that are interceptable, that are thrown in his vicinity, he turns into an all-pro cornerback every single time.
52:48He's really, really good at knocking the ball out of DB's hands. But so he drops an interception. Then he barks at the other team, is told, get to your sideline. He makes a beeline for the Rams' sideline, starts talking shit to them like he's going to start a fight with them. It was fourth and 12. Refs throw a flag and just give the Rams a first down. And then Sean McVay is very, very smart. He's like, we're going to go right at Woolen because he's in his head right now. Yep. Nakua burns him, catches a touchdown. It felt like that could have been the start of the Rams putting this away and the Seahawks having the most heartbreaking loss that we can remember in the NFL championship history.
53:28It was that moment where you're just like, holy shit, did he just cost them a trip to the Super Bowl? But Sam Darnold picked him up. Sam Darnold picked him up, and you also had rookies on the sideline getting into his face, being like, hey, dude, you fucked up. Bad. Because it's like that's a hard penalty to get called on, especially after the play. they don't really want to call it. When you walk up to an opposing coach and basically bark in his ear, they're going to call it. When you go towards their bench. After the ref said, hey, make a right. Go that way. Right. You go towards their bench, and that's going to get called all the time.
54:02But, yeah, the Seahawks, I mean, this John Schneider doesn't get talked enough about being an incredible GM. I saw the stat that's going around. He's the first GM to go to Super Bowls with the same franchise, two different Super Bowls with completely new rosters and new head coach. Obviously, there's been some teams, you know, Howie Roseman did it with two different head coaches, but there was some guys that were still on it. John Schneider did it with the teams in the early 2010s, and now he's back there. And this also was like, think about the turnaround this has been for the Seahawks. When they get rid of Russ, and they kind of bought him, and then they get Geno, and they're like frisky but not great.
54:42The draft picks, the free agent signings, the Sam Darnold signing, all of these moves have been pretty much perfect to get back here in a two, three-year span. It's crazy. They closed the book on Russell Wilson, and then they're back in the Super Bowl very quickly afterwards. I thought that they didn't seem to miss Charbonnet that much today. Kenneth Walker, he ran effectively. The way he set the tone to start this game was phenomenal. Yeah, so he got bottled up a little bit as the game went on, but he still had, I thought he looked good as the sole back, and especially out of the backfield catching the ball.
55:20Yep. He played really well. The Seahawks offense, I thought, moved the ball pretty consistently the entire game. And Jackson Smith, the Jigba, is just. He's a cheat code. His hands are so good. He catches anything that's close to him. His body control, he's just an absolute phenom. We talked about it all year that he should be talked about as the best wide receiver in football, the way he played all season, and he's continuing it in the playoffs. And they got an uncut Jim and Jake Bobo. Oh, man. Jake Bobo. Max Bobo. What a catch from Jake Bobo. What a catch. What a route from Bobo. Great route.
55:56He pieced him up. I thought Bobo did a great job on special teams, too. He was all over the field. Yeah. He was my MVP of the game. Yeah. It's brutal, though, for the Rams to think about how close they were because, you know, one, if they had beaten the Seahawks on that Thursday night game, I think they might have had to still beat the Falcons, but they would have had home field. They would have had a path to home field in one seed. And then, you know, this is – I don't think you can say – like the Rams were in this game, so you can't be like, oh, well, they're tired. But they did have to go on the road three straight weeks.
56:32The rest advantage was heavily on the Seahawks' side. And it just kind of comes down to these two games in Seattle that they were, like on a down-to-down basis, just as good. They just couldn't make the one or two plays, and they had the one or two mistakes that cost them the game. Yeah, the third quarter of this game was absolutely insane. It was crazy, and then both teams kind of tightened up in the fourth. Here's the thing. We always joke about it, but I think in the playoffs, more than anything, it comes true. Special teams. Because we make the joke, oh, it's a third of the game because it's a cliche, and obviously it's not as important is the offense defense but when you get into the playoffs and the margins are so thin special teams becomes so so important and so magnified and if you look at special teams for the rams all season they have not been great and what happens they get the muff punt to a quick seattle touchdown what happened on that thursday night in week 15 or 16 whatever it was the punt return that sparks the comeback special teams matter and that's where the rams like they could have the best offense They have a great defensive line.
57:38If you make one mistake on special teams, it can mean that you're going home, and that's kind of what happened. Do you think that this is the last we'll see of Matt Stafford? I do not. Think he's back? I think he's probably back. Is he going to sleep in that weird cryo chamber for the entire offseason? Yeah, Matt on Matt. I think the teeth need to get bigger. All right, so maybe he will because he's tired and he's banged up, But it is not a situation like a Peyton Manning in 2015 or Aaron Rodgers' past year where his skills have diminished. He's still playing at the same level. He's using the legs today, too.
58:13So why wouldn't you keep playing? It's his choice, obviously. But you'd think a guy who's playing at this level would not want to walk away at this level. Yeah. Right? Yeah. I would think so. As bad as this one was. So I have a list of... Do you think that the injury before the season when McVay was like, yeah, I don't know if he's going to even be able to play football. Can we look back down and be like, so that was a load of shit. He'll do the exact same thing this year. Yeah. He just doesn't want to do off-season preseason. He doesn't want to do 20-game. Yeah, which makes sense. Yeah. All right.
58:46So I have a list of biggest losers today. Do you guys want to go through it? Yes. All right. This is in no particular order. But, Hank, what are you smiling at me for? PFT's smiling. I'm smiling. I smiled because Hank smiled. That made me happy. PFT's not on this list because his bet has not concluded with you yet. Of course not. Yeah. That bet is pending. Why would he be? I don't know. You're smiling at PFT. I got a kick-ass troll doll. I mean, sorry, gnome doll. Okay, so biggest losers. One, the Titans for the stat that you gave. What was that stat again? That was December 21st. Yeah. Since that date of 2025, the Patriots have more wins than the Titans have had since they fired very well.
59:28Since they fired Mike Vrabel, that's a brutal one. How about the Atlanta Falcons? Because they interviewed Mike McDonald and Mike Vrabel and then hired Raheem Morris. That's definitely in the biggest losers conversation. This one, I always like it sucks because he's not a loser. He's a very, very good football player. Devontae Adams is now 0-5 in NFC Championship games. That's brutal. He's never been to a Super Bowl. 0-5. That's so tough. I think you have to throw the Vikings in there because Sam Darnold has shut up all the haters and they're going to the Super Bowl with Sam Darnold. And you basically said last year, they were a very good football team last year.
1:00:10They were a game away from the one seed and playoffs go through Minnesota. And they said, yeah, I mean, J.J. McCarthy's our guy. And now Sam Darnold is taking the one seed to the Super Bowl. Yep. Russell Wilson, one of the biggest losers today. for one, Seattle. He wants to leave Seattle. He decides to leave Seattle. Seattle turns it around and gets back to the Super Bowl in pretty quick fashion. And two, the Broncos are in the AFC championship game and he is the highest cap hit on the Broncos. His fingerprints were all over championship Sunday. That's got to be tough. And the interception is going to be replayed for the next two weeks.
1:00:51Yeah. Good point. Also a really good point. I've already seen it a million times. I think you got to throw the Bills in there. Yep. Just because, you know, the last six years they've been right there. And then we had the press conference earlier this week. And then the Patriots are just back in the Super Bowl. That's really tough for Bills fans. Yeah. That's tough for Bills fans. The Dolphins. Dolphins. Memes. Yeah, memes. Personally. Memes personally. Do you want to talk about the Super Bowl matchup memes real quick? I mean, this is hell for you. Yeah, this is hell, but good for Sam Darnold. Yeah.
1:01:25The Jets are a QB factory. They drafted a quarterback that went to the Super Bowl. That's facts. That is a fact. Second time in history. Yes. What else is on the assembly line of the quarterback factory? Joe Namath. And Sam Darnold. In the past 10 years, Geno Smith. He hasn't gone to a Super Bowl. Yeah, but he still had a pretty good career. Yeah, he made a lot of money. In Seattle, he was good. Yeah. But everybody when they're on the Jets They just have freak accidents Yeah Geno Smith didn't go to a charity Broke his jaw Out for the season Sam Darnold Second season in Got mono Out for a quarter of the season If you have two nucleosises You don't have one Aaron Rodgers Hall of Fame quarterback Achilles explodes Four plays into a season Zach Wilson pussy Yeah Did you see the week 18 thing memes?
1:02:16Yeah but that was Bill Belichick's last game ever And it's a loss to the Jets and his life has fucking spiraled out of control since that moment, so I don't give a fuck. Do you mean we beat the Patriots that day? By spiraling out, do you mean like he's dating a smoke show, who's also a philosopher? You're right. And a CEO? You're right. Bangs more girls in his 20s than me. Also, Last Loser was us for that weird commercial with the fat guy. That one was weird. Did you guys see that? The Eli Lilly commercial? The guy breathing really heavy. and it was so fucking weird. Yeah. That one was weird. I don't need that commercial.
1:02:53Just being like, he was like, I'm so fat, and you're making fun of me, I'm fat. I thought it was like a football player. Yeah, I hated that commercial. Yeah, that commercial. We all lost on that commercial. Agreed. America did. America lost on that commercial. Who else was big? I mean, that's a big list. There's a lot of losers. There's a lot of losers. And things that happened today that you can look back at. I think the Falcons and Vikings got to be top of the list just because, I mean, seeing the tweet, like we just completed an interview with Mike Vrabel, we just completed an interview with Mike McDonald.
1:03:25I would say altitude loss today. Altitude loss today. Drake may look great in the altitude. Yeah. Mike McDonald, by the way, did you know that he's like a savant and he could have been like a Wall Street wizard? Yeah, there's a lot of these guys that are coaching teams now. Yeah. That are like, you know, Ben Johnson, he's a computer genius, right? Like he's a fucking coder. Yeah. Mike McDonald. I also throw in the Ravens. Yep. Because that feels like a situation where if they had pulled the trigger on John Harbaugh a couple years early, they could have had Mike McDonald. Yeah, I would say guys named Sean.
1:03:58Guys named Sean. Bad day for guys named Sean. Really bad day. Really bad day. Bad day for Weatherman. Actually, was this the first day in a long time that Diddy didn't have the worst day for a guy named Sean? Yeah. Like, Puff Daddy actually is sitting in prison right now being like, you know what? Wasn't the worst day for a Sean. For me, specifically. I'm third worst Sean today. I'd say for, like, this entire year, Drake has had the worst day for a guy named Drake. Yeah, that's true. Because of how good May's been playing. That's true. Lighting it up. That's true. Filling up the stat sheet. It was, I mean, what a game, though.
1:04:41It was a great game. It was a great game. And the Seahawks are, I think that if you look at the entire season, The Seahawks have been the best team in the NFL. Yeah. Do you agree? Well, because I think the other team that you could throw in that conversation is the Rams. They beat them twice when it mattered most in the last month. Right. you agree yeah so i think we got a great one team a great super bowl matchup the best team in the NFL and the luckiest team in the NFL. Yeah. Yes. Weatherlock. Yep. Weatherlock. Weatherlock. By the way, I just, I want you to keep it going. Like keep it. It's just going to make it that much sweeter.
1:05:17I want you to dig yourself in. I will. I will. I got no problem with that. I know. But I mean, plant me in a garden. Let me dig myself in. I will. Put them in a garden. Do you think if Lil Hank and Lil PFT went on an adventure together, they'd have a good time? Yeah. Maybe we'll take him with us. Bring him along? Yeah. Yeah. I would like you to do that. I don't want him to have editorial control because remember, when we made the Hank dog toy, he got very upset. He did, yeah. And you've been like, hey, great. This is awesome. The Garden Gnome is awesome. I think it's really cool. I might buy a lot of them.
1:05:54Your attitude is infectious, PFT, with how you've dealt with this. And you know what? For every one of these that's sold, I'll donate a dollar to charity. Love that. How about that? Since you love charity so much. 6 ,000 charity. Okay. I'll match. Oh, we're just charitying it up. We've sold 6 ,000 already? Well, no, 5 ,000 from Big Cat. Oh. 1 ,000 from PFT. Okay. And I'll do 6 ,000. Why don't we do it to the hat you're wearing? Pete Frady's. Pete Frady's, yeah. Yeah. Punch repeat. Love that. ALS. Love it. We love Pete Frady's. Yeah. Okay. Great. Look at this. The charity boys. This is a show that gives back.
1:06:28We're just charity boys over here. Feels good. Feels incredible. Feels great. We're just a podcast that gives back It feels good Yeah Really good So you think Matthew Stafford is a chance? What do you mean? That he retires? I think he's going to have a conversation with Kelly I think we need to get Jerry back listening to the podcast Staying informed about that He's going to think about it Yeah He's got it I mean, especially right after this season It can't be fun I feel like he was so good this year and the Rams were so good that it will be tough for him to walk away. Yeah. But, yeah, we'll see what happens.
1:07:09Do we ever get an answer on where the teams are going to be practicing leading up to the Super Bowl? I don't know if we did. Because we got to keep the Seahawks away from that substation. Yeah. We have to for America. We have to. We definitely. Listen, do not let Sam Darnold within a mile of that place. his oblique's going to burst through his stomach like it's the Alien movie. Is his oblique, like, is that still, what's going on? He was wincing a little bit today, not like Carson, but like he was in pain today, and it was pretty clear that it's still, it's nagging him a little bit. So we just got to make sure he stays away from that thing.
1:07:47Here's a crazy fact looking back at this. The 2018 NFL draft for QBs was incredible, and Baker Mayfield, Josh Allen, Josh Rosen, We forget about Josh Rosen. Lamar Jackson and Sam Darnold. And Sam Darnold's the first one to reach the Super Bowl. Yeah. Thinking about how many playoff games Baker, Josh, and Lamar have all played. Yeah. And Sam Darnold's going to be the first one there. It is pretty wild. It's nuts. I'm very happy for him. Is this year by Drake May, is that the best second year starting? Well, I guess his season's not over. Is it the best second year since Dan Marino? Yeah, probably.
1:08:35Yeah, I mean, Dan Marino won the MVP that second year, and Drake May could win the MVP this year. Yeah. Why do you ask? Very similar players. Yeah, Dan Marino went to the Super Bowl that year, right? Yeah, if you look at that draft, I would say that Drake May is probably in the Dan Marino position. And then Dan Marino went to that Super Bowl? He went to the Super Bowl his second year. Pretty crazy. Hardly ever done. That is nuts. Drake May did it. As a 23-year-old, I think they were the same age. Same age, yeah. And similar stats, too. If you look at their touchdowns, their passing yards, completion percentage, all that stuff.
1:09:07Second year, it almost lines up perfectly. You're a football historian, Hank. No, I actually said earlier I'm not. I'm a Patriots. Do you know anything about Dan Marino? A terrible interview. Yeah. Yeah, it was. We should get him back on. Yeah, we should. We should try to book him for the Super Bowl. In a van. In a van. And for the record, I actually have Dan Marino's back on that. What? Being a bad interview? We just walked him into a car in a parking lot with two guys dressed ridiculously, no idea what was going on, and squeezed him in the back. Our fault, I guess. No one else had a problem with it.
1:09:40Yeah. Blake Bortles had no problem with it. He knew what he was walking into. I mean, he had no problem with it. True. Okay, anything else from Championship Sunday? What a Sunday. What a Sunday. Oh, let me ask you a rollback question. Rollback question. R-H-O-B-A-C-K.com, promo code TAKE, 20 % off your first purchase. Q-Zips, polos, hoodies, joggers, shorts, roback.com, promo code TAKE. I'm actually wearing a roback hoodie right now. Very, very comfortable. Do you want to give us a score prediction? Very early, you can change it as the week goes on. We have two weeks until the Super Bowl. And by the way, we will do all of our Super Bowl storylines maybe starting Wednesday.
1:10:19We'll hit some of them, what everyone's going to be talking about. so what i was alluding to earlier we waited for is that i didn't really have i didn't really care either way on which team we played in the super bowl there is no better feeling than winning your conference championship and getting just kind of relax and enjoy the second game and no matter what you're playing for the super bowl so whoever whoever we play we play as the game progressed i kind of came to the realization that stafford i mean uh sam darnell's great no disrespect there but Stafford is better and he's more experienced.
1:10:51He's been to the Super Bowl before. He's won. I was playing out a scenario where the Patriots are up three or up four, two-minute drive, which quarterback would you rather be going up against, and it's Sam Darnold. So you wanted Sam Darnold. I wanted Sam Darnold. Their defense is better, but I think the logic makes sense, and I think it will be a close game. I will go, I don't know, 28-24 Patriots. It's an interesting score that you put out there Was that the score of the Seahawks Patriots Super Bowl last time? I don't know, was it? You were there I don't remember the exact score Was that the score?
1:11:32It feels like that was the score Was that the score, Hank? You are It was 28-25 Oh, wow Did you know that? Yeah I'm not sure you did I just wanted to hear you say it. I think you just said it. And then you're like, oh, yeah, that's why I said it, because it's the score. So you're saying, though, that you wanted Sam Darnold. That's bulletin board material. Sure. Slap it up there, Sammy. He's so confident. You know, I got a funny story about Hank and Sam Darnold. Yeah. I don't know if I've told this on the podcast before. Oh, please. Story time with PFT. But this was at the Super Bowl last year down in New Orleans.
1:12:10And we went out for Josh Allen night. Yeah. Celebrated Josh winning the MVP. had a great time had an awesome time we're very excited so geeked out and then see josh allen we were all kind of going our separate ways at the end of the night and hank just kind of disappeared and i was like oh i hope hank made it home safe and i called hank and he responded he picked up the phone couldn't really uh figure out what hank was saying at that time i was worried about him and i didn't know where he was and it was very loud and he was making all sorts of noises and i was like what's going on i'm staying outside the party and then who walks out of the party but sam darnold oh leaving the josh allen party and he was like hey pft what's up i was like good to see you sam he's like are you okay i was like no i can't find hank i'm worried about him he's not making any sense on the phone he's like do you need me to help with anything like can we try to find hey he was willing to like go out and look for hank with with me we were going going to go hit the town find Hank bring him home safe because we're concerned about your health and then a car pulled up he's like you know what I actually got to go and so then he got in the car and he's like good luck with Hank hope he gets home safe again I started my whole entire thing by saying no disrespect Sam Darnold great guest on the show he was willing to risk his life to find you he's gonna find you golfer he loves golf I love the the video you know he did a sports video that's great he's a great great guy did he yeah that's a good point they did OJ really loved golf.
1:13:39If he loved golf, he would have had a course on the island. OJ loved golf. That's a great point. Yeah. OJ loved golf. OJ loved football. So do we. Okay. But is love and golf just like that's... I'm just giving qualities of why I like Sam Darnold. Okay. All right. Keep going. He also is going to find you. Yeah. I was fine. I was having a great time. But no. It's just out at night. It's no disrespect to Sam Darnold. This is where you guys lie and you guys do your bullshit middleman, whatever. We just like to suck everyone's dick. Your team is up the commanders. I know it's going to be hard, but picture the Bears or the commanders in the Super Bowl.
1:14:20You're up four. The other team has the ball with a minute and a half left one time out. Would you rather be going and got Sam Darnold? You can't do who they're players. They're equal teams. They both have equal wide receivers, equal offensive line, everything. So they have the same level of talent around them, same level of coaching. Would you rather be going up against Sam Darnold or Matt Stafford? Sam Darnold today? No, just their overall. Sam Darnold today. Well, you have to say today. You can't say their career overall. Yeah. That makes no sense. You're thinking going up against Jets, Sam Darnold.
1:14:56No, I'm not saying tomorrow. I'm saying tomorrow. Both quarterbacks tomorrow. I mean, Sam Darnold could get a first down and get a touchdown when he needs to. today. That's a fact. I was in the scenario though. Hypothetically, you're ignoring the hypothetical. I know. I'm saying today. Sam Darnold was awesome. What about in the hypothetical I just said? Well, it's also fair to say like which team do you think that you'd have a better chance of being up for? Got it. Yeah. You guys. My answer is I always believed in Sam Darnold. So my answer is going to be Sam Darnold. Sam because he tried to help find you.
1:15:27All right. Matt Safford. And wait. Whoa. Sam also loves golf. He loves golf. So Sam Darnold okay fair enough we disagree you asked the question yeah no yeah let's agree disagree you don't think you don't think that's the beauty of the show you don't think epstein played golf nah definitely i've seen those files i don't see any pictures of him i don't see any like pictures on the course yeah right i feel like he played golf you think those would show up max is looking right now epstein golf i always get mixed up i didn't know everyone who's listening right now we're we're gonna wait uh to make a final judgment on jeffrey epstein when we just when we figure out how much of a golfer he was let's see his handicap before we you know really cast any judgment yeah i think if he did play he's probably an executive course guy nine holes the guy could never make it to 18.
1:16:20oh we can't find any pictures so he didn't play golf good point for hank point for hank yep okay Okay, let's do a national sports podcast talk and who's back of the week. Okay, before we do Mike McCarthy talk, we do have the NFL rigged graphic that is now going viral because the NFL official account posted a welcome to the season graphic, 32 teams with February dreams.
1:18:52We're so back. This was on September 4th, 2025, very long time ago. But if you zoom into the graphic, it's players from all 32 teams. And then right closest to the stadium is Drake May and Sam Darnold standing next to each other. NFL rigged. NFL so rigged. Front and center. NFL so rigged. That's interesting. Very interesting. Now, have we looked at the logo? How does the logo reflect the teams that are playing? I feel like you can see any color in anything. Yeah, no, but I want to know how people are choosing to see it in this. I would imagine, yeah. There's got to be some kind of subliminal message that we didn't notice at first, and it was always there, and we fucked up not betting it.
1:19:36Yep. That feels like that's going to happen every single year for the rest of time. Super Bowl logo had something. Oh, well, Max looks this up. Did you guys see the swaggy ref in the game? Who was that guy? So that guy is awesome. I don't know who he is, but he's rocking the zebra fur coat. Fur coat. Zebra fur coat before the game. That guy's awesome. That guy needs to be reffing the Super Bowl. I got to see. You know how we always see the tunnel cams of the guys going to the game? Yeah. carrying their bags with their headphones in. I want to see the refs enter. I want to see what they drive up in, what they pull up, how they get out of the car, if they shake everybody's hand on their way through.
1:20:16Yeah, give me that. The Super Bowl logo we're looking at right now, very uninspired. Oh, by the way, speaking of logos and everything and trophies, can we please go back to the old AFC and NFC championship trophies? The new ones suck. I know they've been around for a while now, but they suck. everything has been minimized and made like it's basically everything has become an iphone you know like the world has become an iphone where all buildings and everything stadiums all look at the same i don't know what they're doing they're i'm sure someone could look into it and be like yeah they're actually making it so that we're in big brother it's 1984 and we're all going to just work in the same exact looking house and everything it's severance or whatever it may be the game was at Lumen Field.
1:21:01Yeah, that's true. The trophy though, it sucks now. They've ruined it. They've taken it away. The trophies used to be awesome. The trophy does suck ass. The Super Bowl logos also suck ass now. It's almost like they figured out what the most visually appealing font was. They're like, we're just going to stick with this and run it back over and over again. You know why they need to go back to the old ones? Because sometimes they sucked. And it's fun for us to look at a shitty Super Bowl logo and be like, this one sucks ass. What the fuck are you thinking? But this is what they've done to everyone.
1:21:33I mean, it goes back to, you know, we need to start bullying this specific, the trophies and the Super Bowl logo. Because remember, bullying did work with the NBA, which is the easiest bully league by far. But with the Larry O 'Brien trophy on the court, that was a huge mistake. Sometimes nostalgia is cool, guys. Like, we could do this. We can have things still look like they used to look like. We don't have to make everything be all sleek. It just sucks. It sucks. The trophies suck now. End of rant. I agree. Sick of it. Okay. Mike McCarthy is the Pittsburgh Steelers head coach, and boy, is that funny.
1:22:14So, listen, the Steelers had a clear objective with this hire. They were sick of getting to the playoffs and losing. So they hired Mike McCarthy to fix that. What's the issue here? What do people not see? Mike McCarthy, experienced coach, good offensive mind. If you want somebody to get over the hump, you go with Big Mike. It is – I mean, I think what probably happened was – well, Art Rooney did say that they had three guys in. They had Mike McCarthy. They had Brian Flores. And who was the third? Who did they – was it – It was the guy from the Rams. Anthony Lynn? No. They also had the guy from the Rams.
1:22:55Shieldhouse? Is that it? No, but I'm saying in person. I don't know if they had Sheilhouse in person. But they basically, Art Rooney said, yeah, we had these guys in, and we just, you know, we're really not, he said, we're really not worried about winning the initial press conference, about picking the coach we believe will help us win games, and social media really doesn't enter into it, and none of that will matter once we're starting to play the games. The message for our fans is we're very excited. We think we have a coach who's well-equipped to lead us into the next winning phase of Steelers football, and that's what it's all about.
1:23:25I think they're going to love Coach Mike. Coach Mike. Coach Mike. It was Brian Flores, Mike McCarthy, and Anthony Weaver. Okay. They sat down with those three guys. What I think happened was Art Rooney sat down with Mike McCarthy. Mike McCarthy is a Yinzer. I think his dad was a firefighter or police officer in Pittsburgh. Yinzer through and through. And they just started talking about Pittsburgh, and he's like, man, I love this guy. Yeah, so I get that. And if you look at Mike McCarthy's career, he's coached for the Packers. the Cowboys and now the Steelers like three of the crown jewel franchises of the NFL he appeals to old money yeah that's what Mike McCarthy does he's he's like kind of the rapscallion like a little rough around the edges guy but means business when it comes down to it I think they like having a guy like that around and I also think that it would be interesting to see if this makes it more or less likely for Aaron Rodgers to come back I believe he might the Steelers and I I really want to see that.
1:24:23This feels like that life cycle for Aaron Rodgers where it's like they butted heads for a while in Green Bay. And then maybe Aaron Rodgers has grown and matured or taken the right combination of horse tranquilizers since then. And now he's like, it's time for me to like, we can move on. We can mend fences. Let's get back together and finish what we started, Mike. Right. Yeah, we can go off in the sunset together. Yeah. Now, I don't want to say that Mike McCarthy is a good coach. He is a good coach. He is. But if you're a Steelers fan, you have every right to be upset, so much so that the Steelers actually hid replies on the official tweet.
1:24:59You never want to do that. The replies were. That's athletics type stuff. Yeah, you can't be doing that. You can't. You can't. You're the Steelers. You can't be hiding replies or shutting off replies. It's that's a crazy move. But I get Steelers fans have every right to be upset about this because it's it's he's a good coach, but it's the same thing. It's the same. You wanted something new. You wanted something fresh. You wanted a young guy. You wanted a guy who could be there for a really long time. You wanted to maybe get an offensive mind. So there was two tweets that I thought were perfectly, you know, they said they talked about this situation better than I could.
1:25:36One was from Brandon Carney who said, the Steelers firing a head coach named Mike, whose last Super Bowl appearance was in 2011 and has accomplished nothing of significance since then just to hire a head coach named Mike, whose last Super Bowl appearance was in 2011 and has accomplished nothing of significance since then is very Steelers. It's actually not Steelers. That's the crazy part because it's like the Steelers always were. They've had three coaches in the last 60 years or whatever it is. They hire a young guy, an up-and-comer, and then he stays there for 20 years. Mike McCarthy's in his 60s.
1:26:09At the best, Mike McCarthy's going to be there for a decade. At the best. Like he's not going to be there for 20 years. The other one was a little bit more crass. He gets on that GLP. He might sit around for a little longer. True. The other one was a little more crass, but I liked it even more. It was from Bartolo's Colonoscopy, Lakeview487. He said, going from Tomlin to McCarthy is like shitting your pants and changing your shirt. Yeah, that's a great way to describe it. I don't know if it's right, because, again, Mike McCarthy is a good coach. He's a good offensive coach, and he knows how to do this.
1:26:40But I, too, understand how you would look for somebody that's a very clear change of direction with the Steelers, and this is not that type of hire. And then our very own Jersey Jerry, I asked him for comment, and he said, the Steelers are going to make me smoke crack again, which is not good. We can't have that. They don't like it. They don't like it at all. He's obviously joking. Yeah. Yeah. I feel bad for Steelers fans. You wanted something fresh and new, and you got another mic. Speaking of taking off your shirt when you should have taken off your pants, how about Fasoli? Yeah. Patriots super fan Fasoli.
1:27:16Shout out Fasoli. Dick down in the snow. Just going straight pecker into six inches of white. Well, if you think this is weird, we just should say that for anyone who's saying this weird, he did yell Matt Collins before he jumped in. He did. So that's not weird. Was he trying to say that yelling Matt Collins is like since Matt Collins grounds himself and goes barefoot everywhere, he's going bare dick? I don't know. I love Fasoli. It was, I feel like my maybe, no, actually, he's not going to probably wake up and regret it that the whole world saw his grundle. Not at all. The entire world, 2.4 million views on his grundle.
1:27:52I don't really know if this was planned. Was this planned? Yeah, all right. Wait, go back. Let's put on the sound. Put on the sound so people can hear it. I want to hear the Mac Hollins. It's always on Netflix. Yeah. Santa Clara, baby, drink me! Oh, I'm naked. Oh, I think he meant to take his pants off, not bonkers. Santa Clara, baby! He didn't realize he was naked until he was naked. Yeah. He was like, wow. It's like he woke up. It's like he was sleepwalking and then woke him up. Yeah, he said, if this upsets you, sorry. I screamed Matt Collins before I jumped. Yeah. So that's good to know. It's Fasoli fans.
1:28:32We all saw his grundle. Yeah. Credit to Fasoli. He's a psycho. I'm glad that people are getting to be exposed in more ways than one. I mean, he's the best. He's just doing his job. Just doing my job. Doing my job. Okay, do we have any other national sports podcasts? LeBron knows that guy, actually. Yeah. Yeah. Fasoli's famous hole. Dinner and invitation. Do we have any other national sports podcast stories or anything before we do Who's Back? Anything? Patty? Patty the body. Patty did not. It didn't go well. Did not go well. Did not go well. Patty can take a punch. That's a fact. He's a warrior.
1:29:10It was a great fight. It was a very entertaining fight to watch. Patty took a lot of punishment. Someone say he got poked in the eye. That changed his entire fight. He got poked in the eye twice. He got poked in the eye twice. The second time they didn't even do anything about it. And he got kicked in the dick. It was bullshit. Kept fighting. Gaethje, I question whether or not that kick hit his dick. I think he was faking the dick hit. Yeah. And Patty, when he got hit in the groin, he was just like, fuck it, let's go. Yeah. When he got poked in the eye, the doctor came over. They were looking at him.
1:29:38He's like, fuck it, let's go. I'm not going to complain about this. Gaethje played it up a little bit just to let people know, hey, I've got a dick, and I might have gotten kicked in it because maybe people would say, I didn't have a dick if I didn't pretend to feel pain. Yeah. Hey, that hit my dick. Yeah, but it was a great fight. It was a lot of fun to watch. Patty fought hard, didn't get the result. Yeah. Oh, Hank, how was Derek Rose night? You saw Joe Mazzula? Saw a coach before the game. It was great to catch up with him once to come back on the show. Celtics lost. Buzzer beater, Kevin Herter.
1:30:10Not buzzer beater, but hit a three with basically no time left. It was a good game. They were coming off a back-to-back, so they were a little tired. And it was Derrick Rose night. Yeah, I left. I figured you did because they did the whole thing afterwards. Yeah. We got there early because I thought it was going to be early. Got to see the players and stuff hanging out beforehand. It's cool to see Tibbs back. It's cool to see Tibbs back. Scalabrini, because he does the Celtics TV. so I saw him there I saw him pregame and then all of a sudden he was on the court with the team I forgot he was on that Bulls team yeah I saw Derek White in the tunnel flopped hard like we were we were talking for a second talking about the game because he grew up in Colorado and I was walking away and I was like D White night not D Rose night and he was just like what oh it was it was it was it was so bad I shouldn't even tell it on the podcast that's brutal it was so bad like so bad He literally looked at me like, at first he was like, yeah, D-White, that's me.
1:31:10I was like, D-White, not D-Rose night. Oh, no. And then it was like we were already dapped up and separating. That was your goodbye to him? We just kind of drifted away. That was your closing line? It was bad. Brutal. So, yeah. It was a cool ceremony. I watched it. It was very cool. My hatred for the Reinsdorfs aside and how they milk this, I'm happy for Derek Rose. He deserved it. The lady next to me was a season ticket holder. She's like, Michael Jordan's here. and then throughout the game I was like, no, he's not. He hasn't been to a Bulls game in like 15 years. I think the Ryan Stores, they just hire people to sit in the stands and whisper that.
1:31:44Because there are people over here and they're like, oh, wow. I heard Michael Jordan was there. Yeah. I mean, again, we talked about it on Friday, but the Ryan Stores milking this because it was different than last year. Last year I went, this year all the guys were back, which was cool. And Tibbs was back. That was cool. I felt so fucking old. because I remember like Todd Gibson and the wall dang and good and like they all looked so old Brad Miller looks like a janitor like it was it was it was tough Brad Miller was very funny it looks like a 50th anniversary team and it's like no I know this is like my favorite team on 2k like dude I had that so it was this And then on Saturday, the Badgers did their 20th anniversary for their national championship hockey team, which I was at that game in 2006.
1:32:35And I was like, fuck, man. This is like both of them back to back. I was like, Jesus Christ. Yeah. I'm getting old. And it sucks to see. Yeah. It was all the boys were there. Where was Brad's in the back? He looks pretty funny. But yeah, it was cool to see Derek get his night again. But it has nothing to do with Derek. It's the right source. Okay. Who's back of the week? Communist Hank again, giving up proprietary information.
1:34:36You just gave up the entire nation of Taiwan to the government of China. Congratulations, Hank. Taipei 101 was the name of the building. Did it in an hour and 35 minutes. Free solo. Live on Netflix, which is crazy. it was I watched a little bit of it it was very like I was uncomfortable watching it because it was so tense and like I don't like scary movies and this was like one of those things where even though I will say the free solo documentary is one of my favorite documentaries of all time and it was like this seems insane but if you watch that documentary and seen what he's done before it isn't that insane it but it is but seeing it live yeah and just how windy I that was the thing that shocked me whenever they had the camera outside was like how is he not just blowing off this building right now my hands are sweating right now i tuned in for a little bit last night and watch this and it just made my entire body hurt like fuck this guy it's i'm out on alex on it's crazy out on him why because he's one of the greatest athletes of all time he's a fucking idiot and i hated i hated every second of it as a person who's terrified of heights watching him get up to those what do they call the ones the uh like the bamboo rings around it or whatever when he climbed up that and then he put his two hands up and lifted himself around those statue what if he just slipped on that big ball at the top yeah then he stood up at the top in the wind for forever fuck this guy i can't watch any more of it you are scared of heights i'm terrified i'm sweating right now looking at it all the credit in the world i'll do respect alex honnell but i'm out yeah very impressive crazy yeah crazy and he's just there there was you know people in the building like his wife at one was up was on like the you know one of the floors and he stopped and was kind of like interacting with his wife inside the building while he's just climbing it like that's that's like out of like a movie it's like oh hey honey i'm climbing this building i can't see you later i can't do this it's crazy he's a nut this is insane absolutely insane okay your who's back pft uh my who's back of the week is robert sala he just got hired by the tennessee titans yes to be their head coach pretty huge he's back as a head coach in the nfl congrats congratulations to robert sala big news also uh scotty scheffler's back yeah scotty scheffler's scotty scheffler's back golf is officially back back so back and i think we got back max had a great showing new swing looks awesome doesn't it and then we got we got a new baby goat we got a baby goat out on the range blades brown his name is blades brown 18 years old shot a 60 on friday and his mom her name was uh what was it ronda ronda blades blades was her maiden name she is the first player in wnba history to make a three-point shot that's her claim to fame and then her son blades brown is just a fucking beast shooting a 60 out there he fell off a little bit on sunday but i'm excited to see what blades has in store yeah okay my who's back of the week is philip rivers because he interviewed for the head coaching job at the for the buffalo bills yeah and that was awesome so i saw this tweet this is from jason fits he said instead of the rooney rule we need a looney rule where every single team has to do one crazy out of the box interview i love this because we still have browns have to interview condoleezza rice have to uh who else is up the bills should interview pin o 'rond like just have pin o 'rond come in with his ketchup and his mustard yeah and just hand it to hand it to pakula and be like all right you ready for my offensive plan spray this on hose me down daddy hose me down who else is still available because the the ravens did hire jesse minter yep would have been awesome to have Stavi be the loony rule.
1:38:29Jesse Minter looks exactly like Nate Bargatze. He does. It's crazy. He does. Who else is still available? The Cardinals? Cardinals. Like McDaniels? Dude. Cortez. Cortez. Yeah. Cortez getting the interview for the Cardinals. Like, have the loony rule just be... I'd watch that. I'd watch Cortez get interviewed for the head coaching job. And here's the thing. Kristen Sinema? Yeah. As crazy as the idea sounds, I guarantee you if you brought in one loony rule guy for every single job, you would at least glean something. Like if you sit down and talk to Pinto Ron and what he thinks the vision for the Buffalo Bills should be, you will get something out of that conversation that will help you going forward.
1:39:12Same with Cortez. Same with Stott. Who should the Dolphins have interviewed? A Dolphin. Yeah. They should have gone and swam with a Dolphin. Frank Fleming would have been an incredible interview. Yeah, Frank. Tell me that Stephen Ross interviewing Frank Fleming wouldn't be must-see TV. You'd just be like, one day, put it on ESPN2, and they're like, we're going wall-to-wall, loony rule interviews. I guarantee you, if they interviewed Frank, they'd have the boys out there doing walks in the summertime. Oh, yeah. They'd be trimmed down, slim, ready to roll. They'd also go back to the old Dolphins logo.
1:39:45Yeah. The one with the dolphin that was wearing a helmet. I need the loony rule. I need the Dolphins. Here's what Dolphins should do. bring back the old logo with the dolphin that's wearing the helmet, except have the dolphin also be wearing a guardian cap. I think that would be an excellent logo. Cleveland Brown should interview the guy who ate the dog shit at the Cavs parade. Yeah, or Connie. Yeah, or Connie. She was at the game. She was there in Denver. She was, part of the personal owner for the Denver Broncos. Imagine Max being the loony rule for the offensive coordinator job. I'd have nothing.
1:40:17I'd have egg your house. See how you take it. Yeah, you just show up with eggs. You're like, go ahead, throw these at my face. I'll be fine. Yeah. Who are you guys getting? I don't fucking know. We don't know. No movement on that? Speaking of which, Shane, are you getting cucked? I hope not, man. So Mike McDaniel has been said to be the new offensive coordinator for the Chargers if he doesn't get the job in Buffalo. The Raiders. And the Raiders. He pulled out of the Buffalo. Oh, dude, the Raiders. Chris Angel? for the Raiders head coaching job, Looney Rule? Dude. Chris Angel doing mind-free shit in front of Mark Davis.
1:40:59Mark Davis would hire him. He would 100 % hire him. John Taffer. He had no choice. Yeah, John Taffer. Get him in there. Holy shit. I need this. I need NFL. Have some fun. Ball rescue. Let's get the Looney Rule going. Just one crazy fucking interview for each head coaching job. All you got to do is you got to just give them a real shot. You're never going to hire someone from it, but we're going to get some entertainment out of it and we can watch and we'll be like a powerpoint from Chris Angel wouldn't need a powerpoint. He is a powerpoint. Yeah, he would just have a football appear. Levitating footballs.
1:41:31If you get a witch in front of Mark Davis, he's like, I want the witch's powers. Would that be illegal? You can't let a witch walk out the door. Would that be illegal if Chris Angel was like, hey, I'll be your quarterback. I can levitate the football to the end zone. No, I think Tom Brady would be in favor of that. Yeah, that'd be so fucking sick. Zach Wait, Shane, so you're getting cocked? I don't think so. I think we're going to be okay, hopefully. But you have to admit it's a little weird. Oh, it's definitely weird. But, like, he's like a top candidate. You want to check out all your best prospects?
1:42:00I don't know. I'm trying to be confident with it. Okay. Optimistic. You sound really confident. Isn't it a good thing that the guy that might be your OC, he's getting looks to be head coach? Yeah, for sure. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, as long as he signs, it'll be okay. I was expecting Arthur Smith before everything. So just the possibility of Mike McDaniel is better than that. Good looking guy. Arthur Smith, who is hired at the Ohio State. The Ohio State, yeah. Zach, who's your who's back? My who's back this week is going to be 10 Bay Buccaneers legend Tom Brady. He took to Instagram today. Earlier today to remind us that he's all class before hopping into the booth.
1:42:38He posted to Instagram, big game, big watch. Hit us with the Patek Philippe Aquanaut. Is that a good one? What is that? It's a timepiece. It was an all-class move. I just wanted to... What's the value on that? If we are a professional pocket-watching podcast, it's at like$563 ,000. Holy shit. And it's just a casual before game. Like, hey guys, stepping into the booth. What's the most expensive watch that you can buy? Is it Richard Milley? Audemars Piguet. Because I've got a business idea. Brick. You just make a really expensive watch. Sell one? Yeah, that's part of it. But you make a$10 million watch, you would definitely sell probably a dozen of those, right?
1:43:23Yeah. Because I feel like, oh, the most expensive, 55. But I bet that's just like - That one sucks. All diamonds. I'm saying like the one that's most widely available. Yeah. You make like a$10 million watch, keep it in a safe in all the top of the line watch stores. Because I feel like most of the ones that I see, they top out at like a$2 million watch is like the nicest one that you can possibly get, right? This Patek is 31 mil. Yeah, it's a pretty good one. Maybe somebody thought of my business idea before. There's a guy, Jacob and Co., who does that. Now that he's back from prison, he went to prison because he got caught up with some stuff pertaining to jewelry back in the day.
1:44:02He went to prison, came back out. But now he just makes them all one of one and sets the price. So he'll just put a roulette wheel on your watch and then be like, all right, this will be$4 million. Oh, that's sick. There's a guy who does something similar. Zach, by the way, congratulations. You finished second in our DraftKings live betting competition today. You were so nervous. That was an awesome day. Matthew Stafford, feeling young today, using the legs, boys. Yeah, yeah. You were all over it. Who finished second place in the part of my take betting contest? Oh, good point. That would be Max.
1:44:34Also finished first place. Congratulations to Zach for finishing in second. Max has to do the challenge. Congratulations to Zach for finishing in first. Thanks, Hank. That's my guy. Shout out Bobo. Bobo, yeah. I went 2-0. Max went 1-1. It was decided because I had the Broncos plus 4.5. Max had the Patriots minus 4.5. For the record, we've been doing it. I'm excited. It'll be fun. It's going to be a good stream with me and Zach. We're going to do some fun things. I'm going to do a few hours with you, too. For the record, for the people counting at home. It's a lot for the record. We've done this for four years now.
1:45:06The first year we did it, second place and last place, do the punishment. I came in second. the next year. David Smills. Well, no, Billy and Zach, too. I mean, Billy and PFT. Drove to the Super Bowl. Oh, yeah. Yeah, and also you didn't finish the stand-up comedy. Oh, that was before me. That was before me. The stand-up comedy year you didn't finish. Continue your point. Keep going. Yeah, so you actually... And last year we only had five people, so we just did last. We just... Well, whatever. And that was Hank, right? Last year we decided that we weren't doing second place anymore, and I came in last.
1:45:42You were about to say that you've had to be punished every single year, and you've only been punished once. Who came in second last year? Three times. What are you talking about? Three times. What are the three punishments? Me and Max are the 24th. No, that was for Rushmore. Bowling hot dogs. Classic. Bowling hot dogs, bachelor party stream. I forgot about the bachelor party. For some reason, we just decided last year that was the only one. But wait, Max, so your punishments have been going on a sick-ass bachelor party and then having to eat like 10 hot dogs while you bowl, which is got to be fun for you.
1:46:18Didn't Jake have like eight hot dogs? He had to eat more hot dogs. Yeah. Because I came in second. Yeah, that's right. And Max had a very good year. You finished the final record. Max, you were 25 and 18. Seems like someone that should be punished for their picks. Well, I mean, I went 27 and 16. That's pretty impressive. Yeah, it's impressive. As a pod, we did overall really good. Yeah, ish. Yeah, I mean, we're over 500 total. That's good. That's really good. Yeah, yeah. Very good. Yeah, yeah. But it was Max and I who were doing the heavy lifting. We were awesome. Everyone else was either 500 or below, except for Max and I, which is crazy.
1:47:00Shout out to the two of us. Was I exactly 500? You were 20, 20, and 1. Okay, sick. Yeah. And I only got that 1 as a draw because you guys bullied me into taking a bad line. Yeah. That was great A line that wasn't even on the books at the time Even though every other bet, it's what you say When that line is on the books Alright, here, there you go PFT You got that win You're a fair man, Max So Max and Zach are going to stream I'm doing 18 hours, he's doing 36 36 hours Zach, it'll be a team effort We'll hop in I'm going to get a new tattoo We can maybe play some Dugs That'd be fun We're going to try to win a Natty finally.
1:47:41I think it'll be a good time. Yeah. It'll be a good time. That's a really good attitude. It's all about attitudes here. I started that off. It's going to be a good time. I know. Right. I'm saying having a good attitude about it is... Zach told me he has a whole list of ideas, and Memes told me I'm going to hate this list. He's got a Hall of Fame list. Hall of Fame. No, no, no. Give us one. I don't have it on me. Give us one. Memes, give us one that you remember. I don't have it in you. Hmm. I need it. Go get your list. Go get the list. There's a couple. Go get the list. I want to hear a couple of lists.
1:48:16Just a couple. Just one. Just give us a tease, and then we'll dive in. He's got to show me how to play Ark Raiders. It's going to be a lot of Ark Raiders. Going to be a lot of Ark Raiders. Is Zach going to be allowed to sleep? I don't think he needs to. 36 hours? 36 hours is tough. He's got to sleep for a little bit. He's got to sleep a little bit. He might have probably afraid of sleep. I had to eat one of Max's scabs to get a couple hours of sleep in when we streamed. What? Yeah. Or a toenail or something. Actually, you know what? Maybe the stream is just Zach goes to sleep and we don't set an alarm and just see how long he'll sleep.
1:48:53He could probably cover the whole 36 hours. Give us one idea. You guys are going to mukbang so hard. Yeah. Oh, yeah. You're going to mukbang the shit out of this. What's mukbang? It's eating. You just eat. Yeah. I knew that. It's a Doug Doug challenge. One of them was just part of my 10K. Me and Max run a 10K in the booth. We run back and forth in the booth. Yes. Yes. Green light. How many? Now that you said it, you have to do it. What is that booth? Why did you pick that one? Is that 12? Why did you pick that one? That's such a good idea. None of these matter, though. It's an early list. That's such a good idea.
1:49:32It's like eight feet long. I think it's like a 12-foot booth. You should have him read the whole list. This is an early list. Max hasn't even seen this list. You know what? Wednesday's show, I want to hear the whole list. No, no, he's going to edit it. No, no, you cannot edit. He won't. Zach's a man of honor. I won't edit if you tell me not to edit it. I want you to add, but do not edit. Yeah, I won't take anything off. All right, so Wednesday will reveal the whole list. That's a perfect Wednesday activity. I was going to run this list by Max before the list came out. Nope. Actually, you know what?
1:49:58Send me the list right now. Email me the list. I will not look at it, but I want to make sure that it stays unedited. So I'll pull it up on Wednesday when you send me what you have. Do you have it on an email? I can put it on an email. Put it on an email. Send it to me. I will not look. I will not open the email, but I want to have it preserved. I think if you wanted to run a 10K in that booth, you'd have to run back and forth 2 ,640 times. That's doable. There's some bad ideas on this list. Yeah, that's why it's an early list. No, there's so many good ones, though. Yeah. You got this. All right, Wednesday, we're going to do the whole list.
1:50:31Love it. Okay, boys. We're off and running. Super Bowl 60 is set. Seahawks Patriots. We're going to be in San Francisco in a week. So happy for Hank. Congrats, Hank. So happy.
