Guests
No in-episode “guests” are interviewed in the provided transcript. The hosts say they recorded in-person interviews with Scottie Scheffler (at the team hotel) and Joe Davis (Fox broadcaster for World Series and NFL games) earlier in the week, but the transcript segment shown is mostly host discussion rather than the interview content.
Guest backgrounds (as described by the hosts)
- Scottie Scheffler: “best golfer in the world,” President’s Cup coming up; interviewed in person at the team hotel.
- Joe Davis: Fox play-by-play announcer; calls World Series and NFL games; interviewed in studio.
Key claims / notable examples
- Giants: Jackson Dart injury derailed momentum; Giants still need help protecting the quarterback.
- Rams: Stafford looked comfortable; Adams had a “classic” deep-threat/TD-heavy game (including stretching the field); Rams look like the team expected pre-season.
- Aaron Donald: not a sack game, but did have a tackle for loss; hosts debate sack vs TFL definitions.
- Caleb Williams: hamstring described as “grade one”/Wolverine-like recovery; hosts argue about whether he’s actually as injured as memes suggest; Caleb’s social media retweets/reposts are used as evidence of his mindset.
- Jayden Daniels: injury status discussed alongside rumors about locker-room issues; hosts push back on speculation.
- College football: Ole Miss/Trinidad Chambliss praised as top QB; LSU’s comeback framed as more about execution than “Lane Kiffin can’t win big” (yet); NC State vs Vanderbilt ending highlighted as an all-time chaotic finish (safety attempt, strip, recovery, win).

2:48Yeah, pardon my take. Yeah, pardon my take. Yeah, pardon my take.
2:59Big Cat:Yeah, pardon my take.
3:02PFT Commenter:Welcome to Pardon My Take presented by DraftKings. The crown is yours. Today is Wednesday, September 23rd. And boys, we had Jameis Winston on Monday Night Football and it didn't look great.
3:18Big Cat:I mean, Jameis hasn't gotten any reps. He needs a week with the ones. Jameis is a reps guy. He's been, you know what? I give Jameis a PFT ratings of an A+. Okay. Because his assignment going into this game, you have to understand, a lot of people that just watch these games on TV, they don't know what the assignments are for each guy out there. Yep, that's true. Jameis' assignment going into this game, be the best backup you can be. Yes. Gas up the boys on the sidelines. Yes. Jameis, A +, absolutely delivered. If you don't understand that that's what his job was, sadly, you're not a real film watch.
3:50PFT Commenter:I agree. Give him one week with the ones. Next week, they're playing. I don't remember who they're playing. Oh, they're playing Titans. Titans. Jameis is going to go off. I was just more sad. And we'll talk about the Rams. But when Jameis, it sucked that Jackson Dart got hurt. The Giants had a torture watch on Monday Night Football where you have all the vibes as high as they could be after the Cowboys win, where Jackson Dart plays a legitimately very good game. Everything's working. Defense looks good. Camp Scadaboo. And then you get into this game. Arvel Reese gets hurt. Jackson Dart gets hurt.
4:25PFT Commenter:Malik Nabors hurts his shoulder, then comes back in. But there was a moment there where you're like, what did Giants fans do to deserve this? Because it really, really sucked. And it sucks that Jackson Dart probably is going to miss some time. but the Giants, that was last year's Giants or the year before, the year before that. That's what we watched on Monday Night Football. And when Jackson Dart went out, I was like, oh, Jameis, this game is about to get crazy and fun. Didn't go that way.
4:54Big Cat:I think it's fair to say they still need some help protecting the quarterback. Yeah. That's still a big need for the Giants. I don't think that any amount of Harbaugh in the locker room can fix that overnight. I thought Jackson Dart leaving the game, trying to come back in, they had to steal his jersey. Yeah. The people in the locker room, I don't know if it was the doctors, the equipment staff, some sort of coach actually had to take his jersey away so he wouldn't try to get back into the game, which is great news if you're a Giants fan. I think he's like, I got to get back out there with Cam.
5:21Big Cat:Cam wouldn't fight his way out of the situation. Cam's lost without me. Yeah.
5:25PFT Commenter:And the Rams, I kind of expected to bounce back. And boy, did it look good, especially the Devontae Adams part. Because Puka not playing and Devontae Adams being, he looked like Devontae Adams of old. He looked like stretching the field, catching these deep bombs. Stafford looked comfortable. He did have like one Stafford throw where it was like, what are you doing, dude? There's it was two guys draped over Devante Adams like, fuck it. I'm just going to throw it up there. But and I think Stafford did Stafford become six all time in touchdowns last night. I believe so. Yeah. Yeah. Hall of Famer.
6:00PFT Commenter:He's going to be a Hall of Famer.
6:01Big Cat:Just amazing shot a while ago. Amazing first half from Devante Adams to just like lit everything up. And it looks like for a while, you know, they were just kind of a red zone pairing. Like Matt Stafford, Devontae Adams. It was like, I'm just going to get inside the 10-yard line. You're automatic. You're my go-to guy. And I wasn't sure that Devontae Adams still had it in terms of like that all-around receiver and deep threat. There were a few times last night, it's like the timing's there with him and Stafford. He was throwing the ball before he was open, trusting that he would get some separation.
6:29Big Cat:And it was, yeah, I think the Rams are maybe who we thought they were before the season. And credit to McVay, by the way, for saying like, sometimes your coach is a dumbass that doesn't understand how time works. Yes. And yes, I like hearing that because as a dumbass that also doesn't understand how time works, that doesn't also mean that we can't be great coaches.
6:48PFT Commenter:Right, right. Yeah, and you're right about the Devontae Adams, like the touchdown merchant stuff last year. I mean, that's also when Puka's in there. Yeah. Puka's stretching the field. But that was a scary sight for anyone who's in the NFC to see Devontae Adams feel like that was a classic Devontae Adams game. I know the Giants secondary is banged up.
7:06Big Cat:And I just trust McVay so much that even if Devontae Adams was out for a while, too, he'd find one way to get one of his four white tight ends to be a downfield threat, too. Somehow, yeah, you end up seeing Parkinson running like a 4-3-40.
7:18PFT Commenter:Yeah, Terrence Ferguson scored last night.
7:20Big Cat:Dude, what did you guys think about this Rams jerseys? Gross. Disgusting. I did not like them. I didn't mind it, but that's just because I graded Rams jerseys on a scale of... They get a lot of leeway because they've got some ugly ones. but they made the yellow worse
7:34PFT Commenter:yeah so my first reaction was these are disgusting then they started to grow on me then I saw Harrison Mevis in it and it went the exact opposite way again where I was like oh these are really really bad because Harrison Mevis he's a big boy it's not flattering it's not flattering if you're in really good shape
7:53Big Cat:like a lot of things if you're in really good shape those jerseys look good on you and if you're not it's kind of like a highlighter for BMI so the higher it is it draws your eye to it. If you see Devontae Adams standing next to Harrison Meeves, you're looking at Harrison Meeves in those jerseys, and you don't want to be looking at Harrison Meeves in those jerseys.
8:12PFT Commenter:No, Devontae Adams looks cool, Harrison Meeves looks fat.
8:15Big Cat:Yeah, they're kind of like they're very Swedish coded. I feel like this is IKEA football.
8:20PFT Commenter:It just doesn't feel like a real NFL team. It feels like a fake NFL team you'd watch in a movie about the NFL. About the league.
8:30Big Cat:Yeah, about this is the Kurt Warner story. That's what we're watching right here. We're watching the Los Angeles Bananas. Yeah, oh gross. Don't put that idea out. Fuck you for putting that into the universe.
8:42PFT Commenter:Fuck you. I don't know if that would work. I don't think doing a backflip over the middle.
8:48Big Cat:If a fan can get out there and make a tackle during a play, it counts. Yep.
8:52PFT Commenter:Yep.
8:53Big Cat:Okay. So that was Monday Night Football. Also, I don't know what it is. Aaron Donald, so his return. Yep. He didn't have a spectacular Aaron Donald game. Max was rooting so hard against him. Max, you admitted you were rooting against him. You said it was personal. I just don't want Aaron Donald to be as good as Aaron Donald used to be because that's bad for the Eagles. Okay. And I was also right. That he didn't get a sack? Didn't get a sack.
9:16PFT Commenter:Yeah. He did get a tackle for loss. Not a sack. But it was a tackle for a loss. Which is another way to say a sack. That's incorrect. That's just a separate sack. Well, no, but a sack is a tackle for a loss. It's just a random thing. But a tackle for a loss is not a sack.
9:31Big Cat:We randomly say it's a sack because it's the quarterback. Oh, because the quarterback, it's now a sack.
9:35PFT Commenter:But it really is. The actual definition of it is it is a tackle for a loss. Here's the thing.
9:41Big Cat:Wait, do you think it's more valuable for him to tackle, say, Jackson Dart? We just weren't talking about tackle for a loss. We were talking about sacks.
9:49PFT Commenter:Would you rather have him tackle for a game? This is also a fight that the three of us are having that the listener has no idea. I'm not fighting. You guys are fighting.
9:57Big Cat:It honestly sounds racist that he's like, it's more impressive when he tackles a white man. What? Yeah. Quarterback. You're like, oh, Zach. Who was playing quarterback last night? Jackson Dart. For the Giants? Jackson Dart. Yeah. For the majority of that game? Starting. What do you mean majority? You don't like minorities? Oh. See, the majority means that he played a majority of the snaps. Yeah, you're discounting the minority. So the minority quarterback actually was Jackson Dart? Correct. In last night's game. Wow, that's interesting. Oh, so you're saying that he's being replaced. He had a minority of the snaps.
10:26Yes. Interesting.
10:27Big Cat:I think you've revealed a lot about what makes you tick today. And thank you for that.
10:32PFT Commenter:Yeah, we actually had a... So we were... To catch up the listeners, we were interviewing Scotty Scheffler at the Team Hotel last night. And we were waiting for Scotty Scheffler. And I realized this. We've been doing this show for a very long time. And we've been in these settings a lot of times. And we got to start recording them. Because whenever we're just all sitting in a small room together, we just start doing a show without the show, without anything on. And so we started doing the show about Max hitting Aaron Donald. I think we should start recording that and then putting out a best of what didn't make the show.
11:10Big Cat:But Max does root against Aaron Donald. He's admitting that, but it's mostly just because he thinks that Aaron Donald is a threat to the Eagles. Yeah. We do have a lot of these on PMTV of what you're describing. I don't think. Never heard of it. Check it out on our YouTube. He looked okay for not having played football in a couple years. I just invented PMTV. That's exactly what you did.
11:31PFT Commenter:Whoops. Okay, my bad. Oh, that's why Shane had the camera? Yeah.
Read the full transcript
11:39PFT Commenter:Oh, man. Okay. What else going on, guys? Anything going on in the NFL world? Yeah. Or should we talk college football? Yeah. So let's do our injury check-in. Yeah, let's do injury check-in.
11:52Big Cat:How's Jaden doing? Dr. Hank. How's Jayden doing? Let's start with Jayden. Dr. Hank, can you give us an injury roundup around the league? Drake May, clean bill of health. Looking good. Thank God. Jayden Daniels. I don't know if it's because we talked about this on the show and the algorithm. A lot of memes, not AI memes, about his teammates leaving him. Talks about, I don't know what happened at ASU with people celebrating when he left. But there's rumors in Scuttlebutt, which I don't believe. I believe PFT that there might be some locker room issues with Jane Daniels. I don't know how that's related to his injury, but.
12:28Big Cat:Hank said he doesn't believe that. Good, yeah. I'm glad he doesn't believe that. It's just the speculation just goes up and up by the day, and there's just more and more. One thing we won't do is speculate. Did teammates really have a party for him when he left ASU? Yeah, some of the teammates were happy that he left. What? That seems. We don't know. The rumors are out there that maybe they didn't love his mom being around. Mason's Art one was crazy. Like, I assumed this was taken out of context or something. Did you see this one? Oh, side by side? Yeah, I mean, it is apples to oranges because one was the very last play of the first half, and the guys were on their way to the locker room, and the second was during a play, and the guys were staying on the field.
13:05Big Cat:Yeah, I figured, yeah. They wouldn't walk off the field if they had another play they had to run. The other was – honestly, I don't think that you need to make up stories about Jaden being a locker room problem with the commanders. there's enough there's enough to go around to talk about jayden and the injuries and the will he won't he should he come back yeah this seems unnecessary it seems unnecessary i i i honestly do not believe for even a brief moment that his teammates don't like him from what everything that i've heard his teammates love him he was voted captain by his teammates yeah so and and this is the first year i think with dan quinn where it's had they've had season-long captains and not just like week to week, and they voted him as a captain.
13:47Big Cat:What? Quarterback has to be a captain. Not always. It would be a – Not always. I mean, if you're a third-year player, you've been in the spot. If he wasn't the captain, that would be a big red flag. But if they hated him, I don't think they – the point of what I'm saying is I honestly don't think for even a second that that team doesn't like him. I know from what I've seen, and I pay pretty close attention to the commander's news and interviews and shit in training camp. They love him. His teammates love him. I'm not worried about that. There's just a lot of talk, not only about the injury, but kind of how he is off the field.
14:22And the same with Caleb Williams. They love him. What happened with Caleb Williams? He's perfectly fine. He's probably practicing today. That's just not true. Taking all the snaps. Hold on.
14:30Big Cat:Would you put him ahead or behind of Drake May in the health power? My head. I'd put him ahead. Healthiest is Caleb. Second, Drake May. Hope he gets better. And then third, Jaden.
14:39PFT Commenter:If you take out grade two and three hamstring tears, what's the most severe hamstring injury you can have? Grade, I don't know. Grade one. Grade one, which is what Caleb has. So discounting two and three, he's got the most severe one that you could have. And thank God his body is like Wolverine and he healed so fast. I don't know why all these Disgusting Andrew Tate Connor Filiberto Dave Portnoy's of the world Are just making fun of a guy for showing a little emotion On a football field Football's an emotional sport I sat I think it might have been in New York But I sat and you guys talked about Mac Jones crying Getting taken off the field
15:26Big Cat:For probably an entire episode With Big Cat specifically being like, if your quarterback is doing this, you guys suck. Let me ask you a question, Hank. This is not a sign of a QB1. Can I ask you a question? The DUIs that he had. Yeah. Like bloodshot, red.
15:43PFT Commenter:Oh, that was, yeah, that was the DUI. No, no, no, no.
15:47Big Cat:No, the crying eyes from him. You just made up, like, you just tried to deflect. No, no, the DUI eyes is what we were talking about.
15:53PFT Commenter:Yeah, the DUIs matched with. No, it wasn't. It was not. Well, let me ask you a question, Hank. Are you, how old are you? That's, you can't ask that question in the workplace what it's illegal that's that's a good point by you're not allowed to ask that never ask a woman how much he weighs never ask dave portnoy how much money he makes never ask hank his age why never ask dave portnoy why does he only take one bite what you're 34 whoa 33 yeah okay you're 33 would you say that as a 33 year old you're the same guy as you were you know when you were 25 like this mac jones thing you're bringing up i was 37 years old and only a father of two people can change this is this is like how long ago was this people can change i'd forget i think about my i think about 37 year old me i was so immature i forgot about the mac jones tears thank you for bringing that up i was so immature 2022 was it 2022 yeah so what I mean, how was I?
16:51PFT Commenter:I was 37. I mean, that's a baby. I'm not even a man. What did Mac Jones say?
16:57Big Cat:Now I'm a man. High ankle sprain. There's a high ankle sprain? Crying is actually good. What grade? Good. I don't remember the grade. See, the thing is, I'm watching this from afar, and I'm secretly envious of Bears fans. Why? Because our quarterback is Wolverine. This is what you would want. If we're talking about injuries during the week, as somebody that's dealing with the other side of that coin, I would much rather my quarterback be a giant pussy than be injured.
17:24PFT Commenter:Now, I don't know if giant pussy, that's a lot. That's a lot. That's erroneous. I'm throwing that out of court.
17:30Big Cat:I would love it if he was a big win.
17:32PFT Commenter:Okay, so in the moment, he was very hurt.
17:36Big Cat:I pray for days like that instead of actually having an injury.
17:39PFT Commenter:In the moment, he thought he was very hurt. And then, did you guys know that your heart rate often rises just before at the start of crying, then drops, breathing slows in respiratory sinus arrhythmia. So it actually calms you down. So basically, Caleb healed himself in those moments on the cart.
17:58Big Cat:Which is actually amazing. It's incredible. The human body. We should be talking about that. So do you think that he went down with it? When the injury happened, it could have been a grade three.
18:06PFT Commenter:Grade three, possibly Achilles. Okay, that's just a different part of the body. You don't know. We don't know. The doctors weren't able to look at it. They got him on the cart. He put the towel over his head. Quick little cry.
18:19Big Cat:Healed. Like what Caleb did was he made his own personal injury tent with a Gatorade tent. Correct. And then while he was in there, he respawned. Yeah. Yeah. That's impressive. Again, we should be talking about his ability. What a trait to have as a quarterback.
18:32PFT Commenter:His ability to come back from injury is insane. It's surreal. I have a question. Have either of you torn your hamstrings in the past?
18:38Big Cat:Yeah, I had a grade two. I have. Yeah. I had grade two, borderline grade three. It was almost all the way torn through. What was your reaction to that? I don't remember. I don't think that anyone knows what it was. I cried. Okay. Yeah. I don't think it's possible to tell what my reaction was. I might not have. Because unlike NFL quarterbacks, I don't get these injuries on film on a football field. What was actually? Oh, wait. Shockingly, we do have this injury on field. What is this?
19:04PFT Commenter:Are you saying people can't have different responses? Have you ever heard of people who are in shock and they have a different response? They don't even remember something?
19:13Big Cat:I agree with Big Cat, trauma is by individual to individual. Exactly. Max. So one individual can handle it a little bit better than another individual. One individual can be really, really tough and strong and a real guy's guy.
19:26PFT Commenter:What part of Caleb's handling of it was not good? He was healing. He's retweeting stuff. He seems to be in his feels about it. No, not at all.
19:35Big Cat:He's taking notes. He's taking notes online. Let me look up his retweets. He's writing these down.
19:42PFT Commenter:Well, I mean, Dave Portnoy is a disgusting pig who is. What about? Yeah. What about the tech talks? That guy made some great points. Toxic masculinity. Toxic masculinity is a problem in this world. Right now, some of us are displaying toxic masculinity. Some of us are actually mature adults who understand that it's, first of all, the way these guys are battling every Sunday for our enjoyment. and then they get hurt and oh they're they're now soft as you say come on please so you're saying
20:16Big Cat:yes word so you're saying you have to call him a pussy no i said i would rather i was playing a game would i rather and from where i sit i would rather people be saying those things about my quarterback than to actually have a quarterback that is you know maybe his left arm might fall you're saying that he it's okay for him to have feelings while simultaneously saying he's not in his feels about people chirping him.
20:41PFT Commenter:I don't know. How do you know that he's on in people's feels? Retweets are not endorsements. I'm looking at his Twitter right now. Everyone knows retweets aren't endorsements. I have it in my bio. He does not have that in his bio. But there's no retweets. He's also gone all over multiple platforms, reposts on TikTok. The guy on Instagram made some really good points. Really, really good points about how this world is... I mean, we're going to hell in a bucket. And most guys don't even know how to make girls calm. Right. Exactly. Yeah. I don't. Wait, what? That's how the guy started off the video.
21:16PFT Commenter:The other one was that people are like weirdly, the losers going after Caleb are weirdly attracted to him, which I think that's true. I think Dave is probably attracted to him.
21:25Big Cat:I'm looking at the retweets from Caleb. There's no recent retweets. I guess he deleted those or he un-retweeted them. That's fine, too. But the most recent reply that he has is a guy that was talking about his Hot Ones appearance saying, go on a door dash, a 12 piece and sit in my living room, butt ass naked with a bottle of bourbon. So it feels like me and my bro are eating together. And he replied, cry, cry, cry.
21:47PFT Commenter:Yeah.
21:48Big Cat:He killed for the fans.
21:49PFT Commenter:That's the most recent. Killed for the fans. What are you showing PFT's hamstring for? Oh, I forgot about that. We didn't have this on camera at a football field.
21:58Big Cat:Oh yeah, it popped. I kept running a little bit and then I get to the sidelines like a football guy. Yep. Get out of bounds. That's good. Get out of bounds, young man. This was probably grade one as well. It was very high grade 2 Almost grade 3
22:12PFT Commenter:Listen I had the same injury as PFT
22:15Big Cat:I talked about it a lot Last year you wouldn't even know I did the interview I can submit my MRI if we want to analyze the MRI I can submit mine too And we can put it side by side with Caleb's
22:25PFT Commenter:Listen you guys are just being ugly I actually scored on the play Touchdown That was a grade 2
22:32Big Cat:Yeah very high grade 2 Almost grade 3 Almost grade three. If you want, you can feel the lump in my hamstring that's still there. You're not even walking with a limp. I didn't know. I did. He did. He had a limp. With a big limp. Yeah.
22:42PFT Commenter:Also, adrenaline's a thing. Yeah. Caleb had a limp. He had a light limp. Are you saying he didn't have a light limp? No, he had a severe limp. Now you're just trying to erase the facts memes? I read the reports. I feel like you want him not to play this week just so you can say he's more injured than he is. Would you rather have him play or not play? He's Wolverine, like I said. He's somehow the greatest ever to come back from injuries, from severe grade one hamstring injuries. So you wanted to play. You went through a roller coaster yesterday of being like, let me attack everyone who says he's coming back because it seemed like he was going to come back against the Eagles.
23:19And then you were like, oh, okay. So Schefter said he's probably not even going to play this week. And you said that with a sense of relief. No, no. The injury news is all over the place.
23:30PFT Commenter:is first of all it was week to week, then it was Noddy back. I want him to play. And he'll probably play because he's the toughest guy I've ever seen. But you were like, oh. Listen, two guys on Sunday. Two guys on Sunday. Boom. Well, yeah, because everyone's freaking out. Crisis averted. Tom Pelissero says that he's playing, and then Schefter says he's not. Let's get on the same page, guys. But wouldn't you be upset that your quarterback's not going to play? One guy on Sunday. I'm very upset. I want him to play on Monday. I'm so upset. I want him to play on Monday. But you were relieved when you said he wasn't.
23:59PFT Commenter:Well, no, because I was relieved that they were actually getting real news. Tom Pellicero was just conjecture, wild conjecture. That also wasn't real news from Schefter. It was real news from Schefter. I trust Schefter. He's never been wrong about any injury news except for the one that he got wrong with Kobe Bryant in the preseason that was specifically about the Bears. Maybe his Bears source isn't great. Neither here nor there. I don't even remember what I was going to say, but it was going to be a good point.
24:21Big Cat:How long is Jay now? It depends. He's seeing a specialist today. They're going to tell him whether or not he needs the surgery or not. My fear is that he's going to try to play through it, give himself like three weeks off like he did last time, put the brace on, get back out there, and then America will have to watch him dislocate his left elbow the next time he tries to brace himself for a fall again. And nobody wants this. I know that he's a tough guy. He wants to get out there and compete. He's trying his hardest to get out there. I wish that he could play next week. That would be awesome if he was healthy enough to play next week.
24:52Big Cat:What happens if he has to get the surgery? Then probably out for the rest of the season. and there's Hank root for injuries again. That sucks. Yeah. Root for injuries. This whole, I was thinking about this on the way in this whole off season has felt vaguely season started is no, I'm Hank. Let me finish my point, please. It's felt recently in DC vaguely Snyder esque and the way things have gone like injured, starting left tackle in preseason out PR mistake involving quarterback out new offense coordinator, or asking quarterback to do things that he hasn't done before. Check. Stadium renderings come out after a bad loss against a division rival.
25:32Big Cat:Check. To like pat you on the head. There, there. It'll be okay. Catastrophic injury involving your quarterback in the future. Check. It feels, I don't want to cast aspersions on Josh Harris, but it feels like I can blame LeBron for this. That LeBron has taken Josh Harris's eye off the ball because he had to spend the entire offseason coddling his new player for the Sixers. So I kind of blame Josh Harris for the win.
25:56PFT Commenter:LeBron James, by the way, at the Rams game, not at practice.
26:00Big Cat:Not at practice. And Josh is probably very concerned about that. Not at practice. Taking his eye off the ball in the commanders. He seems like he doesn't want to leave L.A.
26:06PFT Commenter:September. Yeah. All right. Can I do real talk for a second? Real talk. I think the Internet is crazy, the fact they're not applauding. Chicago had two serious, serious injuries on Sunday. Alex Bregman broke eight bones in his face and Caleb Williams had a severe mild one, uh, or severe grade one hamstring. And both guys are going to probably play like that's insane. Chicago tough. That's crazy. Both those injuries are very similar, right? Both very similar, but, no actual real talk. I, I enjoyed the hell out of yesterday because the memes about Caleb are funny. I, I like that's the internet being the internet.
26:49PFT Commenter:You can't actually be upset about the memes. They were... Caleb was. You don't know that. You know how he's feeling? Yeah. The king of don't tell me how I'm feeling, Henry Lockwood? If I start reposting stuff on my story and Instagram and retweets... I'll remember this, Hank. Next time I'm trying to tell you how you're feeling.
27:07Big Cat:Good point. Maybe Caleb can't exist. Maybe he's got a resting injured face.
27:11PFT Commenter:Click that video. The video of the guy. That guy's making a great point. What? most of you guys don't even know how to make women cum exactly he kind of looks like Colton and sounds like him yeah most of you guys don't even know how to make women great point in seriousness the memes were very very funny if you get upset about the memes you're a loser because that's the internet being the internet I also think there is a weird undercurrent of people who actually do hate Caleb and they will use it as like like it's not a meme they're just like he's the softest like pussy ever and like this is crazy those people are weird to me just because they they'll hate Caleb for anything and I actually am a little excited that it was getting a little too calm when Caleb gets drafted the fingernails everything like everyone's oh this guy can't be a quarterback and last year he was just he wins a playoff game beats the Packers twice week one happens people stopped kind of hating Caleb now Now we're back to people hating Caleb.
28:17PFT Commenter:And I love it because when he wins, it will be that much sweeter. So I'm excited. I'm excited for the opportunity. Yeah, you'll have it on Monday. Yeah, hopefully he'll play. Hopefully he'll play. The memes were very funny, though. I mean, there was an onslaught. It was from like 9 a.m. to... You were getting mad, though. You got mad at memes. What? When? In the morning. What'd I say? Memes was like, I memed. I texted him and I said meme anything you want from the part of my take main account did I not
28:49Big Cat:yeah he was just including me in the toxic masculinity
28:52PFT Commenter:wait did you think I was being serious when I was saying memes you're being mean kind of I'm sorry you were in your field at first and then gradually you can call my quarterback soft you can call him pussy you can do all that stuff if you thought that my tweets yesterday were not having fun with the whole situation you're basically no you were you were no what hey look at my tweets i called out barstool sports i i saw there were stars you couldn't really tell what you were talking that was today i called him out with the stars because i don't want i don't want dave portnoy fucking name searching me it's disgusting hank i could guarantee you that those memes i was having a very good time with people, the Legos guy, which that is actually a serious injury.
29:44Big Cat:It's going to be great once the... You're the king right now
29:46PFT Commenter:of trying to gaslight.
29:48Big Cat:Once the brands start getting involved, that's when it's really going to... I think we're about like three days away from... Oh, the brands are definitely coming. Brands getting approval from firing off. Like McDonald's doing when the milkshake machine is down.
30:00PFT Commenter:Yeah. Yeah, no, these people are... Toxic masculinity is rampant in our society. Clavicular, Dave Portnoy, Andrew Tate, Connor Phil Berto. I hope he'll be back. The big four. Are Bears fans actually mad at the memes? Of course. Anyone who is is being a loser. I think there are also I think Bears fans are mostly more fighting against people I was talking about, the undercurrent of people who actually hate Caleb, like actually despise him and want any excuse to call him out. If you're mad about the memes, you're a loser. Those memes are funny. Ultimately, Ultimately, I think Caleb probably is sitting at home right now being like, I probably maybe wish I hadn't taken the cart knowing that I'm not that injured.
30:45PFT Commenter:It happens. What are you going to do?
30:47Big Cat:Memes, did you get upset at all the Aaron Rodgers memes when he tore his Achilles? I still get upset because it gets tweeted out every single day. Yeah. It has really lived on. And he actually tore his Achilles. Yeah, that's a real injury. Five snaps. Kind of like a three-one answer. Honestly, I didn't think about that until yesterday. And I was like, memes has just been dealing nonstop with Aaron Rodgers' American flags. And I don't even think about that meme as being something that's even related to an Achilles. That's how poisoned my brain has become from the internet. But it must suck as a Jets fan, like all day, every day, to see a reminder of a very promising season that got brought down by an injury in the second play.
31:28Big Cat:Yeah. Yeah, you just see it. But people just like - It was such a sick entrance. They rub it in your face because it's just like, oh, it's a Jets. Who cares that your quarterback got injured? But Bears quarterback gets injured. You can't meme it?
31:38PFT Commenter:No, you can. What are you talking about? Who's saying you can't meme it?
31:41Big Cat:There are Bears fans.
31:43PFT Commenter:But Jets fans were saying you can't meme it, too. No. What? We just accept it. Oh, come on. I think we're confusing some things here. You can definitely meme the Caleb injury. Hank, which tweet of mine yesterday did you think I was actually really? I didn't say tweet. I was talking. We were together all day. I texted memes right away. I was like, unload the clip. I don't give a fuck. It's funny. You got to do it. You got to do your job. Okay, I was wrong. My bad. I mean, it's a ridiculous story. It's a ridiculous. The whole thing is crazy. He's not that hurt. And it's funny that it all happened.
32:19PFT Commenter:It's great. I thought he was in that moment. I thought he was very, very hurt. Yeah, the bow tie doctor. I don't trust, by the way. A guy can't go on TV with a bow tie. and be like, I'm a doctor.
32:30Big Cat:I love doctors after a big injury happens that they just call the news, and they're like, hey, news. I'm a doctor if you want to have me on the news.
32:39PFT Commenter:Yeah, the guy who said, this is Barstool Sports being gross. Yeah, it's disgusting stuff. Barstool Sports is a plague to society. I think we can all agree.
32:53Big Cat:Yeah, some of the longest-term employees, I would say, at Barstool Sports. Agreed.
32:57PFT Commenter:Yeah, Blutman getting in on it. Sad stuff from Blutman. Really, really sad. That's a good quote. I'll just remind everyone. Crying doesn't mean you're weak. Sometimes it's what you need to do to get strong again. He did a lot of crying, and he got strong really quick. Thank you. So, point proven. Great quote. Yeah.
33:18Big Cat:Hank thought I was being dead serious with that quote. In the serious injury commander's wrap-up, 14 starters are out with injuries now. 14. 14 out of 22. I would love for the biggest controversy to be that my quarterback can't handle a little bit of pain.
33:33PFT Commenter:Yeah. Do you see the exclamation point? That's the giveaway. Mean. Memes. Exclamation point. That's a pretty good giveaway that I'm not actually saying memes.
33:44Big Cat:But counterpoint to that, I think we're entering like minute 10 of you arguing that you're not mad.
33:48PFT Commenter:Well, because I don't like that Hank is doing this where he, I guess I now realize. That was a good counterpoint. It's a good counterpoint because he didn't come with any facts. And he just said that, oh, you were really mad. He is gaslighting me. So I now understand why Hank gets upset at us.
34:03Big Cat:Yeah.
34:04PFT Commenter:I get it. He's gaslighting me.
34:06Big Cat:But let's hear about the commander's injuries. No, just saying 14 out of 22. Yeah. That's a lot. It's a lot. One guy had to spend the night in the hospital. He almost died. That's bad. Hope Nick Cross is okay.
34:19PFT Commenter:Okay, anything else? With Caleb or commanders or any injuries? Dallas got it. Yeah, what happened with him? He's hurt. But you got Zach Hurts. How long? Zach Hurts back. How long is Dallas Goddard out? A couple weeks. Okay. Yeah, it'll be fine. Did he cry? Probably. I don't think he cried.
34:39Big Cat:The Eagles do a very good job of, like, that's what Big Dom does. He makes sure nobody can see.
34:44PFT Commenter:Cover up the tears. We also should just be talking about the fact that Caleb's mustache did look cool in that moment. Oh, it looked great, yeah. It looked really good. We need to have more conversation about his chiseled jaw.
34:54Big Cat:He did look. Less about the tears. As far as a guy crying, getting carted off the field, that was probably the hottest it's ever looked. The Trump-Caleb mashup was pretty good.
35:03PFT Commenter:That was good, yeah. Fight! With the flags in front of him. It was crazy. We went from Caleb-Derek Rose mashups to Caleb-Trump mashups immediately. Yes, yes. It was like memes to the saddest degree to clowning him within 12 hours. Yeah, the fact that he's not very injured is making it so that people can laugh about it because it would have sucked. I mean, I did think he tore his Achilles in the moment. Very wrong. Great. Very wrong. Also, Saquon likely to land on IR. What happened with him? It's a stinger. Yeah. How can you go in the IR for a stinger? That's a long stinger.
35:42Big Cat:Have you ever stepped on a B? It hurts. Actually, I don't know if this guy is legit. but Max is watching film today. By a fake doctor. Max is watching film. Yes. I am watching film. We've had a really busy couple days. All 22 doesn't come out right away. They should do that. And then Monday we weren't. I wasn't by a computer for the entirety of yesterday, so I've gotten in the film this morning. I'm about two and a half drives in. There's some good plays. There's some bad plays. There's notes on almost every play.
36:14PFT Commenter:Notes on almost every play. Some plays. Some plays you just like. Everyone did their job. Everyone did their job. The defense did their job. It's a run for a three-yard gain.
36:24Big Cat:I would actually love breakdowns of the most boring plays of the week. I have a couple of them. Every four-yard gain. Everyone did a good job on this play. Blocked it up. Beautiful football. Four-yard gain. That's what I'm talking about. No, no, no. Those are not no-note plays. No-note plays are like runs where we just didn't get quite enough push and the defense filled the gaps. Those are my no notes plays. Got it.
36:50PFT Commenter:That's a film watcher right there. Yeah, that's the thing about film is that you got to – I got nothing. I got nothing on film. I'm still trying to figure it out. There's some plays where I'm like, I think that this person should be doing this, but I don't know if that's their assignment. So I have those in the notes as well.
37:10Big Cat:You just have to guess sometimes. I guess I'll just post a full breakdown of all of my notes when I'm done with them. I like that. I've been watching film too. uh all right yeah how's it been going slow well it's a grind it's just a grind because you got to watch every player you watch one guy and then you rewind watch the play again watch a different guy yeah so unless you're focused in only on one player i don't know how bald he does it it's
37:34PFT Commenter:fucking insane he does so quick i know i guess when you know what you're looking for yeah i think
37:40Big Cat:probably a little easier i think he just watches and he just like hopes to see violence on every play yeah and he's like oh yeah that's some good violence that's it the condor that's some good violence there's a shark in my backyard hang on the con looks good um all right let's do the

40:04PFT Commenter:Okay, college football. Lane Kiffin falls up short. You see they're calling him LSU James Franklin now.
40:11Big Cat:I can't win the big one. I haven't seen that. It's a little early to be doing that. Well, they're saying in his career. Yeah, in his career. Yeah. We need, I think, a bigger body of evidence.
40:19PFT Commenter:I actually thought, and Max hopped on Wubb this morning, and I agree with his point that I watched that game, and I was impressed that LSU came back. Obviously, Trinidad Chambliss was phenomenal. He's rapidly going up. I mean, he's the best college football quarterback right now. We'll have to see when Darian Mensah plays someone with a pulse. but LSU coming back was impressive. That to me was more of like a, is Sam Levitt a little overmatched type of deal than it was Lane Kiffin.
40:48Big Cat:They could have won the game, right? The opportunity was there for LSU to win. And they had a quarterback that just didn't, there were like two plays that stood out on that final drive where there was an opportunity to win the game. Correct. And he didn't make the plays. So you could say, yes, sliding doors moment. That's also on Lane Kiffin, by the way, for not having him prepared to make those plays like that is coaching to a certain point too. I don't know that we can say he can't win the big one at LSU yet. Oh, I don't agree with that. This also was an environment. This was maybe the biggest one, though.
41:16Big Cat:This was an environment that I cannot really think off the top of my head of a more hostile environment for a regular season college football game than this.
41:26PFT Commenter:I mean, it's this or the Michigan-Ohio State after the Mace year. But even then, that wasn't. I think Michigan won that game, but they weren't. I don't know. Was that the one? That might have been the year when they put the flag down, the year they won. When they went into it, though, they weren't a playoff team, so maybe not as big.
41:46Big Cat:Yeah, I mean, we have rivalries, and LSU-Ole Miss is always a big game, especially if it's in Oxford. Like, they hate Ole Miss. Yeah, the crowd was awesome. And the crowd was great. This was, like, you know, a very, very intense environment to play in, which is great. I loved watching. Good for Ole Miss, by the way. That's got to feel really good for those guys. Yes. And Trinidad Chambliss might be the best college quarterback.
42:06PFT Commenter:Yep.
42:06Big Cat:I don't know if he's going to be necessarily the best NFL quarterback or talked about in those, like, is he going to be a top 10 overall pick? I think he might be, though. Yeah. If he's not, depending on how tall he measures in at, I think he probably should be talked about as being the guy that you want. Like, maybe I'm prisoner of the moment right now, but he's clearly a better quarterback than Arch Manning right now. And I don't think it's close.
42:29PFT Commenter:He's 6 '24". Yeah. He is older. Six feet. He's six feet. Six feet. Six one, but everyone's saying six feet. By the way, Archie. Drake May is 24. Yeah. Trinidad's older than Drake May? They're the same age. I don't know the birthdays, but. I'm just saying right now, Trinidad Jackson. That's going to be a problem. That is. He's right. It will be. He's right about that.
42:54Big Cat:It will be, but he is the best college football quarterback. Yeah. You know, I'll say I was too old to be a good rookie in the NFL. Kenny Pickett. Tyler Shuck.
43:02PFT Commenter:Oh, yeah, yeah. That's true.
43:03Big Cat:That's true. Good point.
43:05PFT Commenter:Ole Miss, though, has the best resume right now through three weeks because they beat Louisville on a neutral site, and then they beat LSU at home. We're in that portion of the schedule where it's like, I think these teams are good, but they also haven't played anyone. I mentioned Miami, like Georgia. Georgia, we talked about it on Monday, but Georgia doing defensive line work in TV timeouts because Arkansas wasn't doing enough to get them work. It was so, so like Kirby just – I think he's got his shit back to him, Kirby. He's got a little edge to him this year. I'm thinking about the other games that happened, the notable stuff.
43:45PFT Commenter:Kentucky was an awesome win for our guy Will Stein on the road. Texas A &M, top 10 team. They might have been a fraud top 10 team, but still there were 17-point underdogs. They went out right. That was awesome. I'm very excited for Kentucky fans.
44:00Big Cat:Yeah, it was great to see. And he was pumped up after the game, too. I don't know. Kentucky might be secretly good. Oh, yeah. I mean, they played well against Alabama for a half. And Marcel Reed might. Can Messi give the jersey back? Yeah, Marcel Reed's not very good. Looking back, it was hilarious in the moment. But looking back, that jersey swap is going to be even funnier between him and Messi. But yeah, good for Will Stein. That's awesome.
44:28PFT Commenter:Did you guys see Arch Manning has been -
44:29Big Cat:He said, we are the fucking storm, which is just a - It's badass. That's a pretty hard quote. That's badass.
44:34PFT Commenter:Did you guys see that Arch Manning has basically, they ripped his personality out after the AI controversy? He did a press conference. He's a robot now. We're never going to get another quote out of Arch Manning. I mean, he's never, he's learned his lesson as a Manning. He's like, I'm done ever showing you any personality.
44:50Big Cat:Yeah. Well, you guys have officially beat me down. I'm not going to pull my pants down and put my butt cheeks on a trainer anymore. Do any of that funny, wacky Manning stuff. Ball sack. Ball sack. Was it ball sack? I think it was ball sack. Okay. Allegedly. I think it was ball sack. Yeah. I mean, this was going to happen eventually. The Mannings were going to get to and be like, hey, you can't say this. Like, just keep your mouth shut. People will forget about it. And then Allstate's going to pay you$60 million in about 10 years.
45:14PFT Commenter:Yeah. But we're now getting like this weekend. Make sure you're watching college football. We finally got the weekend where it feels like there's some big, big games. USC, Oregon, Texas, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Florida. There are some big – Texas A &M – Sorry, Mississippi State, by the way. Kamario, he's awesome. When they talk about the ball jumping out of your hand, watch him play football. That's what happens. I think he might be the second-best quarterback. Yeah, he's playing incredible. He's fun to watch. When do they play? Who? Mississippi State Ole Miss. Ooh, that's the end of season. Egg Bowl.
45:54PFT Commenter:I do also, I will defend our guy Brandon. I do think that it sucks that the discourse now with today's college football is if a player's really good on a lesser than team, everyone immediately is like, can't wait to see him play on Ohio State next year. It's the MLB. Yeah, it sucks. Can't wait for him to be a Yankee. Yankee or a Dodger. Yeah.
46:14Big Cat:It sucks. It does. Maybe Mississippi State alumni will get together and just say, let's scrounge up every dollar that we have. Bring back more cowbell. And, yeah, so do a cowbell drive. Yeah. So a limited edition Camario cowbell. All proceeds go to keeping Camario in Starkville next year. Yeah. You touched on it very briefly on Sunday, but I feel like it should get talked about more because it was – I feel like it kind of got swept under the rug, but the end of the NC State game – Unbelievable. was one of like the most insane endings to a football game I've ever seen in my entire life
46:49PFT Commenter:so I assume a lot of people listening have seen it but I'll just say it anyway uh NC State was leading all game they were up 31 28 I believe and uh they got Vandy was driving with like two minutes left NC State got a pick at the goal line so they have less than two minutes left all they gotta do is get a first down or run out the clock they get to a situation where they're on the two yard line there's six seconds left they're up three the the all they have to do is take a safety and most likely win the game by punting doing a safety punt and like you know they're gonna have to do a lateral play whatever the nc state quarterback goes back in the end zone to take the safety doesn't go down and vandy strips them falls on the ball wins the game with one second left kicks the extra point wins by four it was so mind numbingly stupid i the the point like getting a safety was the right play but you just have to run out of bounds not even that yes you
47:51Big Cat:can just run out of bounds you can also just fall yeah you can hold everybody on the offensive line can intentionally grab their guy tackle them in the end zone and it's still going to be a safety that is the play we've seen it countless times like it's a it's a smart move to take a safety there. Also, cool thrown, Greg Sciano. Like, yeah, when it looks like it's time to take a knee, play to the E and whistle. Finally, Greg's master plan worked out.
48:18PFT Commenter:Just go out of bounds and then punt it. Like, do a safety punt. Even if it was three seconds left, they're
48:23Big Cat:not going to win the game that way. He could have taken his helmet off. The quarterback could have ripped his own helmet off and thrown it into the crowd from the end zone, and that would have been the correct play in that situation.
48:32PFT Commenter:Or just throw the ball from there.
48:34Big Cat:Yeah.
48:35PFT Commenter:Like, why didn't he think about throwing it? just throw it deep throw it way up in the air yeah just run there's a moment where he goes back and then he runs forward i know the moment where you run forward just go backwards right how many it's the only it's it's so stupid it's it's they're just kids how many uh they're just kids
48:55Big Cat:how many people watching that game changed the channel after the interception and was like well
48:58PFT Commenter:this one's over not me because i knew nc state they do dumb shit they're always capable of finding
49:05Big Cat:new innovative ways to break your heart.
49:07PFT Commenter:I was watching this, and I was watching it live because I had NC State, and I thought they were going to do the dumb move of trying to punt, which that was on the table, of them punting and then Vandy doing a fair catch immediately in field goal range. So when they lined up, I was like, oh, they are actually doing the smart thing. Guess what? No, they actually did the dumber thing by not going down.
49:31Big Cat:It was maybe the dumbest finish. I would say this is maybe second in recent memory behind that. Was it Miami, Georgia Tech?
49:39PFT Commenter:Yeah.
49:40Big Cat:Where they just decided to run plays. Chris Ball decided to run plays at the end of the game for absolutely no reason. Yeah.
49:46PFT Commenter:Oh, man. So, so brutal. I also have – I want to read a couple headlines for you guys. You ready for this? So, Oregon's had a tough start to the season. They were 1-1 going into week three. They lose to Oklahoma State. They struggle with Boise. They then get Portland State at home. smash spot Oregon wins 84 to nothing here are the headlines after 84 to nothing by Oregon this is from the Wall Street Journal is it rude to win a football game 84 to nothing or am I just soft that's an actual headline that should have been a poll yeah and then the other one was Oregon's cringy blowout of Portland State a different kind of embarrassing shame on them
50:30Big Cat:cringy blowout it's a safety
50:32PFT Commenter:issue so Dan Lennon can't win
50:33Big Cat:yeah well he loses yeah they won but they lost because it was a cringy blowout is very cringy are you even happy as a ducks fan are you hoping ultimately you'd rather lose that game yeah i i
50:45PFT Commenter:do uh sportsmanship obviously we we have draftings as a sponsor i've no no uh shocking news but i i love to gamble but when uh this one guy was like i was like maybe maybe we are talking too much about gambling because i saw this one tweet on my algorithm some guy was like this game is rigged watch oregon score a touchdown to ruin my teaser of under 85 and a half i was like dude there's no way they're thinking about rigging oregon portland state for teasers on totals yeah in college football that's uh at that might be gone too far at that point you might want to just
51:23Big Cat:like have some ego death you should probably take a heavy dose of psilocybin do you just realize
51:28PFT Commenter:that the world is not about you do you know how hard it would be to to to rig a game and but have to make sure you cover all teasers as well it's perfect crime just be like hey not only are we going to rig this for the spread but remember there's seven point teasers 10.13 point we gotta
51:42Big Cat:we gotta cover all our bases i mean i didn't want to get into it but you kind of forced my hand the the pfts with the bucks and the browns why did they why did they delay that football game oh we never used to delay football games ever before true and now we're delaying them all the time my theory is it's the government because the more football games that they can delay because of weather the easier they can sell is this climate change stuff and start taking carbon taxes and oh you hey you think that the weather does impact you well guess what uh oxford mississippi we're gonna have to delay a football game because there's a thunderstorm in the area bet you love democrats now give us all your money that's my theory for why my personal tees are lost i like that yeah it goes deeper than you think it goes way deeper that's very deep also um in the matchup of the Sweeney's Dabo versus Bill Belichick that was a tough loss for UNC.
52:34Big Cat:Yeah. That was also a weather delay. Also weather delay. Yeah, exactly. Real tough. UNC, I don't know if they look good or it's just like this is the new normal with Clemson.
52:44PFT Commenter:No, I think UNC is very similar to how they were at the back half of last year. They have a good defense. Not at the end of the game. Well, yeah, like they They were selling out to try to stop the run, and the guy should have gone down.
52:58Big Cat:Yeah. Well, no, I mean, like, the last... I think it was the last three drives were basically the entire field.
53:03PFT Commenter:Yeah. But, I mean, there's a weather delay. The weather delay fucked them. Yep, the government. Yeah, that was a big win for Dabo, which is kind of a sad state of Clemson football, that that's a big win. He needed that. But he needed that bad.
53:17Big Cat:Because I would have loved to just have UNC in the mix later and have them, like, Maybe they're going to be the ACC championship game. Maybe there'll be a spoiler. They could be.
53:26PFT Commenter:You never know. Yeah, get ready for this slate, though, this weekend. It's going to be sick. Also, Texas Tech-Houston was a great game. Texas Tech. Both those teams are good. I don't know. It's, I guess, good for the Big 12 because they didn't take each other. Like, Houston beating Texas Tech, then Houston losing later. I think that's the hardest game Texas Tech's going to have. BYU? Yeah, they have BYU. I think it's at home. I can't remember. They might actually not have BYU. They have a very easy schedule, I believe, that is like remarkable. I think that was – West Virginia Rich Rod is back, by the way.
54:01PFT Commenter:That was a big win for them. Yeah, no, they don't have BYU. So that was their – and they have West Virginia at home. So that was their biggest game of the season. They passed that test. They should be able to – not cruise, but they have an easy road ahead. Okay, breaking news. Bad breaking news. Hank.
54:25PFT Commenter:Sad breaking news. Jackson Dart, most likely out for the year. That sucks. I feel bad for Giants fans.
54:32Big Cat:Giants fans got the old runaround because you had about 10 minutes last night where you were like, oh, shit. Season's over. This is the worst. Life is pain. And then you got the ray of sunshine when you had, number one, the sideline reporters and the Adam Schefters of the world reporting might not be that bad. Yeah. Might be back sooner rather than later. Then you had the lip-reading experts on the sidelines looking at the trainer and saying this might be him saying four to six weeks. And then today they kind of have to go back on that.
55:02PFT Commenter:Should be illegal. The course of – you should never have this happen. It should always be the worst and then you get better.
55:09Big Cat:Yeah. So, yeah, the worst, better. That's the way to do it. Yep. I would agree with that. Now, you should be allowed to sue Adam Schefter is what I'm getting at. Yes. Emotional distress if you're a Giants fan. That's a bunch of bullshit. so feel bad for Giants fans. Jackson Dart, even as a I'm going to do the as a Commanders fan for them, but they were such a fun team to watch. I like watching him play football. It sucks. I hate that he's in the division, but I like watching him play. The turnaround had a lot of promise. One week, you look great and then all of a sudden things get taken away.
55:43PFT Commenter:It's brutal. The Giants have not had a quarterback start every game in a season since 2018 with Eli. That's insane. Yeah. All the good vibes, everything that was coming after week one, and it's just ripped away. It fucking sucks.
56:01Big Cat:Yeah. Was that the 2015 draft? Jameis, Mariota, 1-2? Yeah. Back. Yeah. Both back in the NFC East. 2015 all over again. Yeah. Brutal. So feel bad for Giants fans. I hope it's not an ACL. I hope it's just like, I don't know. We're not, again, we're not doctors, so the fact that his foot didn't look planted gave you reason for hope, but I guess there's other ways that things can tear. I don't know. We don't know what it is yet. I don't think that they even know the extent of everything. If they do, they're not going to tell anyone.
56:32PFT Commenter:No. Can I have a little point that was actually pointed out by our good friend Tom Fernelli just now? He texted me. Can you pull up, and we love Schrager, his new show. You can go watch it. Ian Rapport you can't be reporting news looking like your 16 year old in high school pull up the there it is watch this play the clip you can't report season ending news in a t-shirt in a leather jacket t-shirt with a duck on that can't happen we can't play this clip but that can't happen do you agree that cannot happen you gotta put on something The viewer and the listener is going to be very confused. We cannot show.
57:17Well, I'll tweet it. I'll tweet the clip. Because if we're going to get one of these, like, oh, all the producers suck at their job. Why can't they put this clip in? We can't put this clip in.
57:24Big Cat:In-Report looks like he was out back smoking a cigarette when he got the news. He was, like, about to hop on his hog and ride away with his old lady. And then he got a text, and he's like, ah, better go back on the TV and report this. Mm-hmm. Now I'm back on to my son's vanarchy.
57:38PFT Commenter:That's crazy. You got to have— season-ending injuries need to be reported with a suit and tie. I mean, Traeger looks like he's chilling at a ski lodge. Yeah, but listen, there's got to be decorum in this world.
57:52Big Cat:Ideally, you'd like for it to be somebody coming to your door and knocking on it and taking their hat off. Yeah. Delivering it to every fan personally. Like, sit down on your couch. The Marines show up and they're like, hey, Jackson Dart. You're in your farmhouse, and there's a car that you see coming down the road about a quarter mile away with all the dust kicking up, and then you just go out to the front porch, you open up the door, you see Adam Schefter step out of the car, and you just faint into your rocking chair that's out there.
58:18PFT Commenter:And he says Jackson Darts out for the year, and you just say, why do I care? I live in Nebraska.
58:22Big Cat:Yeah. Yeah, like, why are you here, Schefter? Who are you? I'm going to shoot you. Get off my property.
58:29PFT Commenter:Also, other injury news, obviously nowhere near the Jackson Darts. We do feel bad for Giants fans. Like, that just sucks. Your season felt like everything was going in the right direction, and then to have Jackson Dart miss the entire year. It's brutal. It's absolutely brutal. And it feels like they're going to just go back to what they've been doing, which is being like a four to six win team with a couple frisky games mixed in. Who knows? That just sucks. Who knows? Max, do you want to say something as an Eagles fan? You feel bad? No, I don't feel bad. We're going to get more Jameis.
59:07Big Cat:That was so easy to just say you feel bad. You feel bad for Giants fans. I feel bad for Jackson Dart that he's injured. Do you feel bad for Giants fans? Okay. Is there any Giants fans? I don't like to see the play. That hurts his future. It's sad for Jackson Dart, not sad for Giants fans. I'm sad for Giants fans. Lie. You're just lying. Okay. I'm sad for Jackson Dart. Me too. I'm sad for the other players on that team, not the fans. So you're sad for the team? Yeah. For the players on the team. Correct. But no sympathy, whatever, for the fans. After all they've been through. They've won two Super Bowls.
59:44Big Cat:That is a valid point. Yeah. Good point. I don't feel sad. I did feel sad for you, actually, when Jane Daniels got hurt. I'm pretty much a player on the team. That's why. Yeah. He's part of the organization.
59:57PFT Commenter:Max, other injury news. Are you ready for Case Keenum? Because you're about to get him, buddy. Yeah. So Tyson Pagent, concussion protocol. Case Keenum. Yeah. There's one notable game that Case Keenum played the Eagles, and it didn't go very well. Not a lot younger, I would say. But yeah, we're going to go Case Keenum on Monday night. What a fun event. Ben Johnson, though. Ben Johnson. That's the Michael Penix. We got Michael Penix, and then we also got Case Keenum.
1:00:27Big Cat:Yeah, right. This is a surprise concussion, because I don't think anybody knew that he was hurt, right?
1:00:31PFT Commenter:He got hit really hard on that last play. Okay. So I think that's what it was from. Okay. The last sack. if you want to pull it up i believe was what it was uh but yeah case keenum i i had a few people be like this is how i found out case keenum was still in the league it's like no case keenum case keenum actually i think his neighbors with caleb and good friends yeah this is the play oh yeah slammed yeah slammed to the turf i i'm gonna try to do one of those analogies
1:00:56Big Cat:about like what to expect with case keenum i think case keenum is the andy dalton of cooper rushes
1:01:04PFT Commenter:Okay, wait, hold on No Andy Dalton is better than Case Keen No, that's not what he's saying He's the Andy Dalton of Cooper Rushes I think he's I think he's better than that What would you put him at? I think he's like He's one of the best Cooper Rushes Because Case Keenum did have a Legitimate good year A couple years in in Minnesota and then a decent year in Denver, I want to say. Maybe I made that up.
1:01:37Big Cat:He was our starter going into a season one year.
1:01:40PFT Commenter:Yeah, so I think he's better. He might be the Patrick Mahomes of Cooper Rushes. Do you think the very best? Of Cooper Rushes? No, no.
1:01:49Big Cat:Because Cooper Rushes are bad. Right, right. The Patrick Mahomes of Cooper Rushes might be Drew Locke. But Drew Locke was also a starter. He slings it.
1:01:58PFT Commenter:Like, Drew Locke was, I don't know. because case keenum was kind of like drafted as like a backup kind of kyle orton might be the
1:02:07Big Cat:the patrick mahomes of cooper rushes yeah but there's yeah this is i think nick foals would be the patrick mahomes of true yeah yeah true okay and also he's not by the way he's not anymore case keenum tom brady of patrick case keenums i think tom tom brady is the nick foals of Cooper Rush's of Drew Bledsoe's I'm very used to that So, Case Keenum's good year. I think that might actually make a lot of sense if you think about it.
1:02:33PFT Commenter:Yeah. Case Keenum's good year in the NFL was nine years ago. So, it's no longer. He might be the Jack Strand of Cooper Rushes at this point.
1:02:42Big Cat:Which is also an improvement. Maybe. Maybe. Or maybe the Phillip River of... That would be good, though. The Phillip Rivers of Cooper Rushes. Yeah. Yeah, because, yeah, Journeyman. And old. Yeah. I don't think Max is getting what you guys are. It's okay. I think I'm kind of getting there. At this point, I'm saying yeah and nodding, and I'm moving on. Yeah, we're there. No, come on. You can be nice. You are being nice.
1:03:05PFT Commenter:I'd be nice, yeah. I'm feeling weird. Good point, Max. We're going to stream this game, Max. Okay? We'll stream it. Yeah. Case Keenum in week three is... You never want to hit the Case Keenum button in week three. It's a little early in the day to be drinking all that Case Keenum. Way too. Yeah, you need to... The doctor needs to prescribe you Case Keenum. You can't just be...
1:03:28Big Cat:Case came off the shelf. Let's wait until we get off work before we start casing.
1:03:32PFT Commenter:Yeah. Okay. Also, Caleb Williams, two to four. We talked about that. We did. Yeah. We didn't verify that. Yeah. So we're actually taping this like three hours after we talked about everything. So it's verified two to four? That's the time frame. Generally. I still feel like we don't have a real answer. We don't. That's from Rappapore. It certainly seems like Caleb Williams is unlikely to start this week, and next week we will see. two to four weeks generally the diagnosis for these kind of hamstring injuries. Yeah, not really. Which are pretty severe hamstring injuries. Not really. Two to four weeks, would you say?
1:04:03PFT Commenter:Super severe. I mean, two to four weeks is, what's the, a cicada's life is what, three weeks?
1:04:12Big Cat:Yeah. And when you think about a fruit fly, this is probably like thousands of fruit fly life. So Caleb Williams got the death sentence for cicadas. I'd say for at least like 10 ,000 fruit flies. Yeah. an entire like put into perspective civilization of flies next time you make a joke just stop
1:04:28PFT Commenter:yourself and say what if what if kaleb williams is a fruit fly it'd be tough and then be like wait why did i ask myself that what did these fucking guys say and then you go on with your day uh all right let's do hot seat cool throne this episode is brought to you by body armor flash iv flash iv is packed with electrolytes delivering faster longer lasting hydration without any artificial dyes flavors or sweeteners whether you're training traveling just feeling the heat or cheering on your team work hard and hydrate hard with body armor flash iv grab it at 7 11 today body armor flash iv all right hank uh my hot seat is ai videos believing ai videos and you've believed in a couple recently yeah we already dox my age so i think it might just be an age thing old old eyes but uh yeah there was a video of jane daniel's teammates running away even though marcus mario to stayed people are saying like if i'm glad some people are like if it was halftime again wouldn't that mean they had time to watch to make sure he was good no means they're all
1:05:27Big Cat:leaving the field at that time at halftime but it's like all right we we were it's a break let's just make sure our quarterback our franchise quarterback captain is is a like a half time is free time god you can do whatever you want right so they if you want to stay you can do whatever you want yeah right so they could have stayed most coaches they could have stayed like if you'd like to sit on the bench by yourself read a book that's cool but they were like we don't if you so if you want to stay and watch your quarterback that's cool but they were like nah let's go to the locker room and like eat a eat a orange yeah that's what they do yeah dan quinn passes out tangerines actually uh you're being very ugly and the barrel drinks you've been very ugly but regardless that that was not my point that was not my point right there was another you are this is a misstep because i the thing i i am not concerned about at all is that his teammates like him i me too i i trust i like and also remember he said he's gonna he's gonna spend all his time You are my guiding light in this situation.
1:06:20Well, I've thought about that more, Big Cat.
1:06:21Big Cat:I don't think, as a 41-year-old man, that's not... I don't have time to be... I don't have time to waste trolling a 33-year-old boy. But there was another video circulating today of LeBron James in a preseason workout just bricking shot after shot after shot after shot. AI? I think so. You guys watching and you tell me. You say me. You be the judge. I genuinely, that's where I'm a little skeptical. Max, can you bring it up? I noticed you didn't look this one up. You have Miami, Georgia Tech. Well, we were talking about Miami, Georgia Tech. Yeah, we were. Are you going to? I sent it if Max can't walk in and find it.
1:07:06Where did you send it? I texted the group.
1:07:08Big Cat:I've got a Browns fan. We could just type in LeBron brick. Oh, yeah. I saw that guy. Which one? The guy who tweeted us or no? No, different guy. Okay. Different guy. I think his name is like number one Cleveland Browns fan. Okay. Which is a great solid name. Okay, let's see what he's doing here. Brick. That's a tough shot running. This is sad. What are you guys doing? I'm not doing it. Sad. That's from half court. A little heat check there. That actually makes it. You're terrified if you're looking up LeBron practice videos for. I'm not looking these up. These are flooding my timeline. Flooding.
1:07:44Big Cat:He's had a double flood. if you've been paying attention. That's hard to have two patients. It's hurricane season.
1:07:49PFT Commenter:It's great. Hank has recently been stricken with inability to tell what's AI and what's not. So he's just asking us for help. Because you used to be really sure. Did you see the video of Trump and Vladimir Putin rapping together? That wasn't real. Oh, really? Yeah. But these videos, you're like, they might be real. This one looks so real, but it's LeBron. So it's like, there's no way he's throwing up this many bricks against absolute nobodies.
1:08:13Big Cat:Yeah. Sure. Right? Yep. It is kind of crazy. Oh, we just threw the ball out of this. This looks like our Friday afternoon pickup games. Oh, my God. It does look like – He definitely sucks. Father time is undefeated. Yeah, for sure. It's coming right now.
1:08:29PFT Commenter:For who? It's coming for LeBron. Yeah, I mean, we're talking about high school gym practice videos? Yeah. That's a telltale sign. First thing you lose – He stinks.
1:08:40Big Cat:First thing that you lose is your ability to hit running floaters against 19. You're telling me that we have practice videos at a high school gym? Well, it might not be real. Oh, yeah. We're watching full tape right now. I like that. Oh, yeah. Yeah, you don't watch tape. Oh, yeah. Cancel the season. LeBron's done. Celtics. Champions, I guess. Paul George. He's young, right? Yeah, he's got him in a great hairline. Jalen Brown, fencing. Those are cool clips. He's in France practicing fencing. Is he really? Yeah. That's not your guy anymore. He's sword fighting? I know. I miss him, though. I may miss him.
1:09:16It's cool.
1:09:17Big Cat:Why is he practicing fencing? Because he's Jalen Brown. He's an eclectic guy. He should be practicing defense. And then my cool throw is flatulence. National sports show. National sports pod. You are the fart guy. On national sports television today, I saw a segment. I woke up, turned on my TV. I was watching Fox Sports 1 and saw Saints quarterback Tyler Shuck talking about how So my fart in the offseason, what did he say? He sent waves through the locker room. He sent shockwaves through the locker room. Was he talking about the Saints locker room or the Pelicans locker room? I don't understand why this is.
1:09:58Big Cat:I was wearing that.
1:10:00PFT Commenter:I said that on the show. It was close to the Pelicans facility. I said that because I was explaining why I was wearing that dumbass hat. Yeah. And it was because the Pelicans came in. Your initial explanation for why you farted was they share a team facility. They do. And that's why I was wearing the hat. And that's why the clip was embarrassing. Not because of the echo chair, but because I was wearing the hat. The echo chair. Which was because the facility was connected to the Saints facility. But either way, it could have been considered a bad moment. I never thought about it that way. and it's clearly inspiring our guy, Shuck.
1:10:40PFT Commenter:I don't think he said the word inspiration. Definitely didn't say inspiration. He may have. No, I think he might have said the first half of the first game was bad because of Hank's fart. I don't think he said that. I'm pro the fart being the difference maker for Shuck. Also, Shuck did say Kellen Moore gave out more game balls in meetings on Monday when they watched the tape. Okay, love that.
1:11:06Big Cat:So more than six total.
1:11:08PFT Commenter:Did he say how many?
1:11:09Big Cat:He said the big guy's got a bunch. Every offensive lineman. Yeah.
1:11:12PFT Commenter:So I was happy because that was my first question. I was like, dude, what happened? Only six game balls. He's like, no, he went back for more. We got to get those numbers up. My first question was about Hank's fart. Yeah. Good. Good. Good question. Yeah. Really good question. Okay. PFT. You said government name too. That was crazy. What? To Henry Lockwood. Well, yeah. You're a journalist. 33 year old. Chill. 181.
1:11:35Big Cat:Wait, what did you, what would you like him to call you? If he's listening. Well, I don't call him Christopher. I wouldn't have said, hey, Christopher. But then he followed up. I also noticed he followed up with a Hank. Right. Which was good. Yeah. That means he was very aware of your prowess in that. Yeah. He respects HIPAA. Okay. So just for future reference, I'm never to refer to you as Henry again. You can. But again, I'm not going to call you the E word. Thank you. I could. But out of respect for HIPAA, I don't.
1:12:07PFT Commenter:Okay. Jerry's the only one who's got the e-pass. Yeah. Yeah. Dan Campbell. Dan Campbell, too.
1:12:11Big Cat:Dan Campbell. My hot seat is Mike McCarthy, head coach of the Steelers. Okay. A lot of people are saying the Steelers offense looks a lot like it did last year and the year before that and the year before that and the year before that. We're people. We're part of that. Yeah, we have said that. So, yeah, when I say that a lot of people, I do include this room because it does, if we're being honest. 100%. But Mike McCarthy is not on the hot seat for that. it's because it feels like Aaron Rodgers is exercising almost too much accountability for himself and I think he has to get his quarterback in line and be like hey man you can't take everything yeah all the blame on your shoulders you need to spread that around a little bit we're a team here so Aaron Rodgers after the game he said the best teams are player-led teams we have to keep taking ownership in a game like today there wasn't a lot of flow to it we need to be better and it starts with me that's really mature by Aaron Rodgers that's really really mature He says, it starts with me at making sure Mike McCarthy knows what's working, what's not working, and that our coaches know so we can all feel like we have a better chance.
1:13:16Big Cat:So this is a great job by Aaron Rodgers taking full responsibility that he needs to do a better job of educating his coaches of what plays they're calling and which ones suck. Yes, that's good accountability. It's really good accountability by Aaron Rodgers. And I think there's a big step forward for the team. I'm looking for the Steelers to bounce back this week. What a leader. Big leader.
1:13:36PFT Commenter:Yeah. My cool throne is going to be James Madison,
1:13:39Big Cat:and it's not because necessarily we have a 19 % chance of making the college football playoff again this year. Oh, hell yeah. It's more the fact that I thought, looking at the rest of our schedule, what that's going to have to mean for me for the rest of the season, which is going to be a lot of talk about how easy our schedule is. And I would never attack a team for playing an easy schedule. If you get your wins, you deserve every advantage that you have in the playoffs.
1:14:05PFT Commenter:And if someone were to find you attacking an easy schedule, you could simply just say, well, that was old me.
1:14:11Big Cat:Yeah, that's old me.
1:14:12PFT Commenter:I'm 41 now. I'm mature. And I moved on and evolved.
1:14:14Big Cat:And it sounds like you're part of the barstoolification of the universe. Yeah, I'd agree with you. Yeah.
1:14:18PFT Commenter:You can't be held accountable for things in the past. Right.
1:14:21Big Cat:That's crazy. That's crazy to do that. Live with me here now. Yeah. I'm currently not committing any crimes, so I don't know what your problem is. Also, Virginia Tech's fault. Also, Virginia Tech's fault for sucking.
1:14:31PFT Commenter:Also, Virginia Tech's fault.
1:14:31Big Cat:And James, so I looked at the numbers. Wait. No. Virginia Tech because they canceled the game. You canceled the game. You don't play them. Yeah. You were supposed to play Virginia Tech, but Virginia Tech canceled the game. I'm aware this happened against multiple power conference members where they just canceled games against JMU, so we can't play a hard schedule anymore. But the stat is we're 23-0 against the state of Virginia since 2015, and we've got another one coming up this weekend against ODU. But I thought more about what that's going to look like at the end of the season. It would be great to make the playoff again, like twice in a row as a little bitty school that used to be FCS.
1:15:06But then what would that look like?
1:15:08Big Cat:It's like every year we make the college football playoff and we get our asses kicked. And that doesn't seem like a great, like, what, Max? I feel like that seems like the best case scenario for you right now. I know. That's what I'm saying. That's a very weird best case scenario to be in is to make the college football playoff, go up against, like, the third best team in the country, and then hopefully cover a 21-point spread. And that's kind of, that's a weird place to have that be the ultimate goal for your season. But anyways, you play who's in front of you. I'm excited that Jamey is back in the conversation a little bit trepidatious of what that's going to mean when you get there.
1:15:42PFT Commenter:Yeah. Hell yes. All right. My hot seat. I don't really have a hot seat. I have a cool throne.
1:15:51PFT Commenter:We've talked about everything. My hot seat is anyone who made fun of Caleb. I'll just say that. All right. My cool throne is Deshaun Watson because Todd Munkin said that he's a young player that is going to continue to grow. Yeah. 31 years old. Yeah. He's older than Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, and the Ravens offensive coordinator.
1:16:13Big Cat:He's a young player that's continued to grow. I'm a little concerned about what parts of him are going to continue to grow.
1:16:18PFT Commenter:Young player continue to grow.
1:16:20Big Cat:That's, yeah, sometimes coaches just get up in front of the media and they're verbally just hitting the fast forward button to get them out from doing more media. yeah it's like let's just get to the end of this practice i'm gonna say words that i've heard other coaches say before and hopefully you won't follow up and then i can go back to doing my job yes yes young deshaun watson ideally young deshaun watson was a great player 31 year old does that make hank old at 33 yeah for a quarterback yes yeah unless you're tom brady yeah or in rogers yeah taking
1:16:53PFT Commenter:accountability. All right. Hot seat. Cool throne. Zach. My hot seat this week is going to be miracle drugs because we may be at the end of the line when it comes to GLP ones. Boys, you see all the lawsuits that came out this morning? No. All GLP ones are apparently making people blind. Ooh. Are you guys familiar with? But are they still skinny? 99 of them out of 10 ,000 maybe, but also blind. Fat and can see, blind and skinny. So skinny, maybe you can't see yourself skinny, though. So fat. But then you can't find the food. My eyes are working pretty well. I haven't taken them as frequently as I used to.
1:17:31Yeah, I feel like you took them like once a year. I got to get back. Oh, you haven't been taking them? I've taken them. What's the most consistent you ever were with taking them? Wedding season? No, before the wedding, I was taking them pretty consistently.
1:17:44PFT Commenter:Is it something, usually drugs, aren't you supposed to, like, when you get sick and they give you antibiotics, you're supposed to take them every day until you're better? Well, it's supposed to be once a week. And so you just said, you know what? I'm taking a couple weeks off. Like every drug, I'm just going to do it whenever I want? No. Okay. Sometimes you forget.
1:18:01Big Cat:You're taking recreational GLP one? No, no, no. I got to get back into the system. You start smoking it. When you feel like it. Okay. No, I got to get back into the system. But you can see. Yeah, eyes are good. Eyes are good. How many people are blind? So they're saying right now one in 10 ,000 probably get it. I think those odds are fine if you're trying to get skinny. Is it permanent? Yeah, so it's not permanent. Definitely permanent. It's antiretic. Wait, what? Interior. So it is permanent blindness. It's not like, oh, I couldn't see for like two days, but now I'm back. They call it antiretic ischmetic optic neuropathy.
1:18:38PFT Commenter:Okay. And it leads to rapid and permanent vision loss. So we thought we were in a good spot, but back to square one.
1:18:47Big Cat:I thought that this time the miracle drug that made everybody lose weight and get skinny was going to come with no side effects. Yeah. They made it seem hot. We got all the commercials. We got great guys on them. Shaq and everybody making it seem like a good idea. Yeah, Shaq wouldn't put his name behind an inferior product. What's the number? If I said to you there was some -
1:19:06PFT Commenter:Max is upset. I feel like one in 10 ,000 - Every single drug has some sort of side effect.
1:19:11Big Cat:That was Hank doing his Max impression. Yeah. That's pretty good. What was that, Matt? No, that was honestly a fair impression.
1:19:17PFT Commenter:What would the number be for you to not do? if I told you there's a miracle drug that gives you endless energy and makes you look hot but a hundred out of or maybe a thousand out of ten thousand you die I need to go one out of a thousand out of ten thousand would be one out of no it's not sorry I didn't know you needed me to reduce the fraction you're always supposed to reduce the fraction sorry I didn't reduce the fraction one out of ten 10 out of 100 1 out of 10 is too many what about 10 out of 100
1:19:55Big Cat:that actually sounds better it's also 1 out of 10 what about 3 out of 100 1 out of 100 is where you start to have the conversation 1 % 1 % is nuts 1 % is nuts that's what I'm saying I'm still considering it 1 out of 100 1 out of 10 ,000 easy yeah i mean it would be real shame if i got it is funny though to think about like how our
1:20:22PFT Commenter:brain works like what's the number if they're like hey this thing will will fix everything but all the one out of one out of every 20 people die are you you're like hmm am i am i good yeah 19 or
1:20:37Big Cat:am i one uh ultimately this i think it does a lot of good like a lot of people losing weight that really need to lose weight probably probably extending a lot of lives out there definitely certainly but like blindness blindness that's a tough side effect what do you guys one out of 10 000 i might be down to go blind if i was born blind but i think becoming blind has to be way worse because you know you're missing you're also one one paranoia guy that's true uh zach i disagree with that though i know what you're saying but i think if you have some frame of reference to how the world works and then you go blind yeah you know what you're missing but at least you understand like conceptually what things are oh that's fair that makes a lot of sense actually okay uh i think that this is a worse headline than if it was like one out of 10 10 000 people die definitely okay yep like just in terms of like shock headlines if it says one out of 10 000 people go permanently blind for the rest of your life people are like oh shit like that shocks you a little bit they said they were they're flooding the zone with uh lawsuits today so unsure also not to be like
1:21:35PFT Commenter:super woke but i assume all of these headlines are just uh the drug companies fighting against the food industry and they're just playing it out online and sometimes so then we'll get another one in a couple weeks it's like there are no side effects for glp ones and they're actually a miracle drug and then the food industry will come back and say actually you diary out of your asshole and die and then we just have to decipher which one like the the people that's just all this stuff is yeah that's true they might have just got me with the blindness big company the big big food and big drug having a nice old dust up in the streets of the internet and we just we're the
1:22:17Big Cat:ones to suffer from all of it and then meeting behind the scenes with a negotiator being like guys if we can come to an understanding everybody can eat yeah there's there's room to go around we just got to compromise you you need to it's like a mob meeting yeah you sit down behind the scenes It's like you need to go 10 % softer on the accusations of blindness, and you need to pull aside some of your most potent drugs that are making people not eat Cheetos.
1:22:39PFT Commenter:Yeah, a lobbyist is going to get involved, and we're going to nerf the GLP-1s, and then the drug companies are going to get stock options in Big Food. Yeah, sir, for your service.
1:22:51Big Cat:And the losers will be us again. A lifetime supply of Twinkies, sir, for your dedication to public health. Oh, so it's like keep America fat, but you guys can get a piece? Yeah.
1:22:59PFT Commenter:Yeah.
1:22:59Big Cat:Right.
1:23:00PFT Commenter:Exactly. That's how all this works. Then my cool thing this week is going to be Activision because we're finally hammering down on guys virtually cheating. Recently, it came out that cheating video games is an$8.5 billion industry annually and we're finally taking a stand. Okay. How? All right. So they shut down like - Sign a pledge? 365 major cheating operations. Okay. Sent out roughly 80 Cinesis. They're hammering down on the cheaters. It's actually bigger than you think. Okay. Yeah, it's bigger than you think. Yeah, because the Ricochet anti-cheat from Activision, historically dog shit. But now they're just arresting guys.
1:23:35Like, all right, if you don't want to play by the virtual terms, take these IRL cuffs.
1:23:39Big Cat:Wait, are you serious? Yeah. I'm kind of okay with that. Me too. Send them the brink. The gulag. Yes, gone. Not coming back. Don't respawn. Wait, how are people actually getting arrested? Because it is illegal to sell these cheating subscriptions and these wall hacks and aimbots and the Forever Greens and stuff. Is it illegal to buy them? I don't know the answer to that I would want to say morally yes On paper probably Couldn't they just go to like a country Where it's not illegal to sell these And then just sell them And nothing's gonna change You're describing the war on drugs right now That is you can They probably won't extradite yeah So you probably could go to a different country I can only speak on domestic soil what's going down So nothing's gonna change There's gonna be cartels But guess what What you have to do is you have to eliminate the market for cheaters in the United States.
1:24:31Big Cat:Joey Greco. Yeah. Ashley Madison. That'll never happen, though, because that's a moral conflict, and guys are going to cheat forever. Guys are always - But this is huge. This is actually big.
1:24:41PFT Commenter:Did you guys watch that Ashley Madison documentary? It's just like - They're like, yeah, it was 99 % dudes just talking to each other. Yeah. It was great. It's like, you just lost your marriage because you were chatting with a dude online, thinking it was a chick.
1:24:55Big Cat:what what chick would sign up for a website where it's like hey meet meet up with a bunch of guys that want to cheat on their wives yeah like if girls want to cheat on their husband i got news for you they can do it just by like walking outside yeah exactly they actually get further
1:25:11PFT Commenter:away from computers it was it was a very funny watch very funny watch all right uh any other ones zach good those are we covered most everything else that's all i have for today Okay, let's get to our interview. This is an awesome interview with Scotty Scheffler. We have Joe Davis in person. Before we do that, PFT.
1:25:28Big Cat:Before we get to our good friend, Scotty Scheffler, live in person, getting ready for the President's Cup. He's brought to you by our great friends over at Reese's. I got my Reese's right here, the Oreo. The Reese's Oreos, so good. Love the Reese's marshmallows. That is my new favorite. But there's something for everyone when it comes to Reese's. I like the fast break. I like everything Reese's ever put out. Reese's Pieces, nothing like some Reese's Pieces in a sundae and some frozen yogurt. I had some fro-yo with Reese's Pieces as the blend in the other day. It's awesome. It doesn't matter if it's vanilla, chocolate, cookie dough.
1:26:02Big Cat:You put some Reese's Pieces in there and then it becomes an event. Reese's is delicious. Chocolate, peanut butter, all of your favorites. There's no competitor to Reese's. Reese's is the official candy partner of Barstool Sports. They do the Reese's Lounge here. I went up there before Thursday Night Football last week. had a couple Reese's chilled out great place to hang shout out to Reese's great company and they're the best and frankly they probably don't need to advertise because their product is that good you know it you love it but I'm glad that they do because I love Reese's go get Reese's wherever you shop Reese's it is the best and Scotty Scheffler is also brought to you by our good friends at BetterHelp if you could wake up tomorrow and be better at one thing what would that be and why zach one thing if i could be better at tomorrow yeah i'm gonna go with the three-point shots okay hank uh 1v1 call of duty okay guess what if i could be better at one thing tomorrow it would probably be um my ability to procrastinate better because i'm not good enough at it yet but we can all work on something part and uh part of my take is sponsored by BetterHelp and better is a feeling defined by you.
1:27:17Big Cat:And for BetterHelp, it's a BetterHelp therapist who really gets you. It's a focus on global emotional well-being with thousands of therapists and millions of members in over 100 countries. It's progress. BetterHelp is great. If you're looking to do some online therapy or start therapy, I highly recommend it. I've gone to therapy in the past. It's been very, very helpful to me. It's helped me get through times of loss. It's helped me to organize some of my thoughts and learn how to prioritize things in my life, it makes me happier. And I think it could help a lot of people out there too. So better is a feeling and it's defined by you.
1:27:48Big Cat:BetterHelp will help you. They have a BetterHelp therapist who's qualified and they will really get you. Sign up, get 10 % off at betterhelp.com slash PMT. That's betterhelp, H-E-L-P dot com slash PMT, betterhelp.com slash PMT. And now here is Scotty Scheffler.
1:28:06PFT Commenter:Okay. We now welcome on a very, very special guest. it is the best golfer on the planet scotty scheffler in person is that cool when i say best golfer on the planet i mean you are i mean yeah still still not still not quite quite used to it but yeah you you should be used to it yeah i'm the best i'm the best golfer a couple weeks a year yeah but you're the best golfer on the planet we're here uh president's cups here in chicago this week uh very excited for it your third president's cup third president you're two Uno, is there any pressure knowing, like, you guys have to win this? You have to win the President's Cup.
1:28:41I mean, I think anytime you're representing your country, I think you feel the weight of that. Like, I think sometimes that almost makes it more challenging, knowing kind of, like, what we're representing. Like, it's not just playing for your team or playing for your partner. Like, we're playing for the country. And these tournaments are something that kind of everybody can get behind. Yeah. But, like, the nerves and the pressure you feel is, like, you're doing something that matters. And I think that's a really cool feeling.
1:29:03Big Cat:Is there anything that you do differently in the preparation? Like team golf as opposed to individual golf mentally has to be a lot different. But like besides the obvious nature of you don't want to let down your teammates, is there anything different that you do to prepare? I mean, as far as like the golf stuff, not really. But I think mentally it needs to be a little bit different because, you know, every week out of the year I'm doing my own thing pretty much all the time. Like and if I let myself down, that's okay. like it's a lot easier letting myself down and then when you're standing there with your partner i think there's definitely kind of like the added weight to it yeah um and so mentally i think you need to approach it slightly differently than you normally would approach a regular tournament but overall it's just a matter of going out there and trying to execute and um you know i got some some of my best friends are on this team i'm looking forward to just going out there and competing and
1:29:52PFT Commenter:having some fun with the guys all right so not to do the thing where a regular guy compares himself to a professional athlete, but I'm about to do that. I'm a terrible golfer. When I play in any type of team setting scramble, I always feel so bad because I'm just letting down everyone that I'm playing with. And I say sorry, like constantly. I'll literally just hit a drive and just be like, sorry, my bad, dude. Do you think that you being the best player in the world, like your partners ever feel that? Do you have to give them a little talk being like, dude, I'm just Scotty, like let's go win together.
1:30:24PFT Commenter:Because I do think there's an element. I mean, you saw it with Tiger when he played in these tournaments. Phil, when you're the best, the guy you're playing with, your partner, probably feels extra pressure that you're not putting on him, but he might be putting on himself. Yeah, I think that a lot of that just comes with the team environment. Like, I grew up playing team sports, and I always felt a little bit more pressure there just because you're playing for your teammates as well. You're playing for something that's bigger than yourself. I've never had that discussion, but I've always become really close with the guys that I've played with just because going out into that environment where there is so much pressure, there's a lot of stress attached to it.
1:30:58You really feel like you're stepping into the arena in a big way, and it's very important that you're on the same page with whoever you're out there with. Do you say sorry in team golf? So I have one story about that. Sam Burns and I were playing. It was my first President's Cup, and we were playing alternate shot, and we had agreed not to say sorry to each other. Yeah. That was like, we're not going to say sorry. We're not going to do it. and we get to, I think it was like the ninth hole, and I cold shanked an iron shot off this par three like 100 yards straight right into the woods. And like he's completely screwed from there.
1:31:34And like every part of me wants to be like, dude, I'm so sorry. Right. I just like literally cold shanked like straight, like clearly going to lose the hole. And we kind of just walk over and Sam's just like looking straight. He has no idea what to say. He's probably never even seen me shank the ball before. Right. And he's just kind of looking straight and he kind of just like gives me the look and I kind of look at him and I was just like, Good luck, man.
1:31:54Big Cat:I love it. I love it. If I were him, I would have said, like, you should actually apologize. It is.
1:32:01PFT Commenter:It's a good rule to have. It's a really good rule. Like I said, I mean, I know it's different playing professional, but, like, when you play in these settings, I just – it's like a machine gun of saris that I throw at whoever I'm playing with. Well, yeah, because, I mean, you want to be able to perform. You want to be able to hit the shots. And especially alternate shot where you're, like, actually screwing them over. She's got to go hit it from the trees. I get to walk up to the street. Right, exactly. Yeah, but I mean, it's like you want to hit every shot great, but I think having the understanding that that's not going to happen, and so there's no need to apologize.
1:32:29Like I know he's trying his best, and he knows I'm trying my best. Sometimes things don't go always as you plan them.
1:32:35Big Cat:One of my favorite things about team golf is like the handshakes and high fives whenever something goes well, because I think golfers are like 0 for 500 ,000 on agreeing whether they're doing a fist bump, a high five, or a handshake when they're excited. Like, I don't think it's ever connected. I think it's always like there's only one choice out of the three that you have to make. And it never links up. Do you guys have like I know in team sports, you get traded to a new team. You have a bunch of new handshakes and stuff. Do you guys have anything like that? I think we probably need to be a little bit more connected on that.
1:33:07Like, I can definitely think of some examples of like not knowing exactly how to celebrate. Yeah. Especially somebody like isn't very performative to begin with. So then like when you do get really excited, like, yeah, typically like it's hard to get on the same page. Like I like Bryson and I, this is my first Ryder Cup. We're trying to celebrate something. And I think we almost missed the high five. And then we somehow ended up like stumbling into a chest bump somehow. We didn't know what to do. And then like I think I tried to high five him again. He just like walked off. Yeah.
1:33:34PFT Commenter:The problem is because golf is a sport that you shake hands. No other sport are you like shaking hands as much as you shake hands in golf, especially at the end of the round. So you guys aren't used to the high fives. We got to get like the jumping hip bump.
1:33:48Big Cat:You know that? Like the jump side thing.
1:33:50PFT Commenter:We need to get like a, you know, I don't know if it's allowed for the President's Cup, but it'd be great if we got like a Dominican baseball player on the team just to like teach you guys. I was about to say we need somebody to teach us. Just loosen it up a little. You know what I mean? Just like have some fun with it.
1:34:04Big Cat:I would like to see something like a scramble at one of these. If it's the President's Cup or if it's the Ryder Cup, like let the boys go out there, do a scramble. See how low you can go. How low do you think you could get with – if you were to pick three other guys from the President's Cup team, how low do you think you could shoot at Medina? Oh, if you have four of us in a scramble? I mean you could shoot pretty low. I feel like a par would be like a fairly disappointing result. I'm sure that would happen over the course of a round. We've never actually tried that, but I think you – like having four chances is significantly different than only having one or two.
1:34:40PFT Commenter:Right. Yeah. How many of us could – no, we couldn't beat you. Yeah, we could. There's nothing. Yeah, we could. Like I was saying, if we had 10 guys, if we had 20 guys, we're all between 15 and 25 handicaps. We win a hole. Yeah, for sure. Like golf is one of those sports where like you guys can probably all – if you're given enough tries, you can all do the things that we do. It's not a sport. Probably not. That's not true. But it's not like watching somebody dunk a basketball. You'll never be able to dunk a basketball. But I'll never be able to hit one straight 330 yards. Yeah, but you could hit it eventually.
1:35:20You'll hit one 250. Yeah. The more you try, you'll learn how to hit 270. I'm a little stronger than that. But eventually you could do something very close. Maybe not hit it 350, but you could hit it 300. You don't want to hit it 350. So give it enough tries. You can pull off the shot.
1:35:36Big Cat:If you have like 10 guys, you're not going to be able to keep your eyes on all of us. We're going to cheat. Yeah. Yeah. So we can take a couple of holes off. True. The numbers there.
1:35:45PFT Commenter:You don't still have hand, foot, and mouth, right? Okay. No. Did you actually have it? All the remnants are actually gone up until. Because my kids had it too. And I actually, when my oldest had it, I didn't know he had it. And I was just like, why is this baby crying? Like, why is he touching his feet? And then I learned about it. I was like, oh, this is serious. Yeah. That sucks. Fortunately, Remy, our younger, our six-month-old, did not get it, but Bennett and I got it pretty good. It's brutal. It was awful. Yeah. You're a warrior for being out there. The worst part was my throat. I remember walking off the course on Thursday, and these guys wanted me to do my media stop, and I was like, I very rarely ever say no, and I was like, no, I can't do it.
1:36:24And as I was walking off, a reporter I'm really close to was like, hey, can I just ask a couple of questions while you're walking? I was like, no, I cannot talk. Yeah. My throat was that bad. But that's just part of it. Yeah. Fortunately, the blister stayed for a long time on my hands. That's pretty significant for a golfer. Yeah. Was it like gripping the club? The first couple days were not great, but it got better as the week went on. They gave me some steroid cream that I put on my hands that helped.
1:36:51PFT Commenter:Imagine if you got popped. You're like, dude, I just – Fortunately, the tournament had a doctor, and I was like, listen, man, I think this is what it is. And he's like, oh, yeah. He looked at everything. Imagine if they were like, oh, Scott, he's on the gear. He's on steroids. Like, no, dude, my kid has hand-foot-mouth disease. Bryce is like, yeah, I think I got that too. What do you want me to do? Oh, man. It was not fun. Yeah, no, not fun at all. Not fun at all. Also, congrats to your youngest who's not a jinx because I know there was a time when he hadn't been in the – he hadn't – you hadn't won, right?
1:37:28PFT Commenter:Yeah, he was born in March. I didn't win until maybe like August or so. Was there ever a moment where you're like, is he a jinx? Oh, I had that with all my kids. When they were born, I was like, are you a jinx? It was about gambling, though. Figure it out. Gambling, you definitely believe in jinxes for sure. It's a kid's fault, yeah. The day my first born was born, I went 0-4 in WNBA overs, and he's a jinx for sure.
1:37:51Big Cat:Do you have any actual superstitions? I mean, I've used the same yardage book for a long time. I use the same ball marker every round. Oh, what is it? It's a Dallas Cowboys coin. Oh, okay. You're kind of a piece of shit for me. Would you like to apologize? I'm a Commander's fan. Being a Cowboys fan is not fun. Good. Yeah, no, that's true. Yeah. It's not like I jumped on some bandwagon. Like, the last time they made, I think, an NFC championship was before I was born. Yeah, yeah. So, like, I should get, like, a reward for being as loyal as I am. Yeah, that is true.
1:38:29PFT Commenter:I mean, you can relate to that. Like it's not. He put a jinx on the Cowboys yesterday. I was like, oh, no. What are the what's going to happen? They're not going to make an NFC championship game for another 30 years.
1:38:40Big Cat:Like they're jinx. I was it was it was a moment of emotions were running high after the game. And then I went back. I saw the post that the Cowboys put out before the game on like Friday. And it was Jaden injured lying on the ground from last year's game. And so I was upset about that. So I put a jinx on the Cowboys. I will remove the jinx if you apologize on behalf of the Cowboys. I don't know what they posted. I can't dive into those waters. We don't celebrate injuries, but the Cowboys did. So I had no choice but to jinx them. But, I mean, they look pretty good right now. It's a curse. It's a curse.
1:39:17Big Cat:I was out of options. Yeah, I had nothing. I was just kind of flailing at the world. But they do look good this year. Yeah, is this the year? The offense looks good. I tell you what, I was really excited for the season to start. Just because we drafted a bunch of guys on defense. The defense actually got better as the year went on last year. The guys we traded for at the deadline, and then they played the Giants. I was like, this was awful. Yeah, that was bad. Yeah, and then I got to watch a bit of the game yesterday, and it was better. But then you're playing a backup quarterback. I don't know how much that factors in.
1:39:46He's a pretty good backup. He is a good backup.
1:39:49Big Cat:I'm just hurt. Hurt people hurt people. That's what I'm going through right now. But you guys got to watch the games together. That's kind of cool. Yeah, it's fun. Like for me, just being able to sit down and watch football, like we were sitting at the course and I'm like, you know, my kids are at the hotel. Like this is some free time that we don't really get. It wasn't the worst thing to get rained out. So we kind of just caught up with the guys and watched the games.
1:40:11PFT Commenter:Do you guys take a bus to the course? Yeah, a bus to the course. That's probably good for you. Yeah. It's not bad. It's not bad. That all happened. Have you – like it's been enough time now where we can just be like, Like, that was nuts. So, like, people always joke about me getting arrested. Like, I got – like, I didn't just get arrested. I got charged with assaulting a police officer. Like, I didn't just, like, get, like, a – like, I got charged with assaulting a police officer. So, like, Sam actually wore the T-shirt with my mugshot to our team room last night. I love that. The joke continues to – It's crazy.
1:40:52PFT Commenter:Like I just remember in that morning waking up and being like, what? Scotty, what did he do? Yeah, I had the same feeling. When the story came out, it was just like, oh, okay, this is not – he didn't do anything bad. It was a wild miscommunication. But yeah, street credit for you. Yeah. Yeah, don't mess with me.
1:41:08Big Cat:I'll go to jail. I mean at one point it's got to be – you have to understand what a ridiculous situation it's in. But then when you read like felony. Yeah. Yeah. Like excuse me, what? Well, that was – it wasn't like I just went to jail. Like I got charged with a very, very serious crime. Well, you did ruin his pants. Yeah. I read the police report the other day. I had to remind myself the very last. What is the police report says? The very last sentence of the police report was the officer's pants were damaged beyond repair. Yep. Pretty disgusting. That's the classic Cowboys fan stuff.
1:41:43PFT Commenter:And by the way, credit to you. Did you, I assume you never dropped like a, do you know who I am? No, I didn't. He said I'm playing in the tournament, I would assume. But to be honest with you, I don't remember a whole lot of what happened after. When I remember him trying to, like, get me out of the car. And I was just like, I'm not getting out of this car until some police officers show up. Right. Like, not knowing who the person was trying to get into my car. And then, like, next thing I know, I'm in handcuffs in, like, the back of the police car. And I was like, whatever this guy tells me to do, like, I'm not saying a word.
1:42:15Yeah. Smart. Like, I can only get myself into trouble right now.
1:42:19PFT Commenter:Right. But not like – honestly, like if there was a video of you being like, do you know who I am, that's the worst for like a celebrity or a famous person. Yeah, well, it was like I – like in that situation, I was just like, okay, like I know I didn't do anything wrong. So like as long as I just like do what I'm told, everything will work out and everything worked out and like – What did you shoot that day? Shot, I think, six under. Yeah, it was pretty good. It was badass. What's a lead that you're like, all right, I'm probably out of this? Because you had one this year. Was it the Masters that you were like 13 back and then you got all the way down to like – Yeah, I mean – Is there – are you like I'm always going to be like I'm going to be back in this?
1:42:59PFT Commenter:Because you have – I feel like that is something that you're really, really good at that like you can be hovering around Thursday, Friday, and then Saturday, Sunday come. It's like, oh, here comes Scotty. Like this is what's happening. He's making a charge. Yeah, I think like I always pride myself on trying to do my best and like that's not something that I take very lightly. And so if I'm going to show up to a tournament, I'm showing up to play 72 holes and play as hard as I can. I feel like that's what I'm called to do. My calling when I get to a tournament is to compete as hard as I can. There's been some tournaments where I could have maybe been out of it, and then I played some really good golf to get myself back into it.
1:43:34There's definitely some examples over the course of my career where there were some times I could have given up. One of them I think about often is the Olympics in France. I shot, I think, maybe like a 29 on the back nine to get into metal position. And it was just like I remember walking off the ninth green just so pissed. I wasn't holding any putts. I look at my caddy, and I'm like ready to break my putter. And I was like, Teddy, I think I'm going to putt better with my lob wedge. It's probably time to break it. It's over. And he's like, no, no, no. He's like, just don't break it. Give it to me.
1:44:04And I was like, Teddy, I'm pretty sure I'd putt better with my lob wedge. And in that moment, you feel like giving up because it's a hard game, and it can get really frustrating. in but teddy talked me off the ledge and we ended up going out there and having a great back nine
1:44:15Big Cat:and and put ourselves in a position to do something really cool that's yeah like i think when i look back at my career like i want to say that i gave it everything that i could and yeah like that
1:44:28PFT Commenter:that's mental toughness because i'll tell you right now i would quit so fast if like if things start going bad it's like i'm out yeah i mean just like if you work really hard for something You don't want to just give in. I don't know. I feel like I take a lot of pride in if I get off to a tough start. It's part of perseverance and fortitude and all that stuff. Getting in there and just continuing to grind things out. Yeah, I'm definitely proud of those things for sure. Yeah, definitely. You should be. I mean, I really do mean it. There's so many times where I'm watching a golf tournament, and in the first couple days, you're down there.
1:45:04PFT Commenter:It's like, Scotty will be heard from at some point. Like he will, there, there will be a moment where everyone be like, watch out here comes Scotty. And that's, you can't say that about every guy, you know, there's, there's some guys that like when they're, when they have a bad first two days, like that's it, there's no coming back. It's like, you're always a threat. And I feel like other people feel that too. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, let's be honest. I don't really know how to elaborate on it. Like, I feel like, I feel like when I step up on the first tee, I want to tell myself that, that I did everything I could in order to play well.
1:45:31And now my job is to compete. And so then, you know, we're given another four days to compete and that's, that's what I'm called to do. And I don't really think much past that.
1:45:39Big Cat:Yeah. You seem like a process guy, somebody that takes a lot of joy in the process, and then the results kind of speak to the work that you put in. But you definitely, in order to achieve what you've done, I'm sure that you have goals and things that you want to accomplish. Like what do you want to have accomplished when all is said and done in terms of your golf career?
1:46:00PFT Commenter:Whoa, that's a heavy question. That is a heavy question. I've never been a guy that's like written down goals. I have like what I would call dreams and aspirations, but I've always been at my best when I just live really day to day. And like, I am a process guy for sure. Like one of my favorite things in the world is going out and practicing by myself. Like I just love trying to figure things out. And golf is a puzzle that can pretty much never be solved. And it's one of my favorite things in the world. Like I love practicing and trying to improve and, and figure this game out. And like, that's why I feel like I keep coming back.
1:46:31Like I don't get, I don't get tired of practicing. I love trying to figure it out.
1:46:34PFT Commenter:Do you feel like you'll go out and practice? You're like, I feel like I got better. Like I fixed something or did something. Because from the outside, we just see professional golfers, they're just so, so good. They're at a different level. But you're actually fine-tuning stuff and being like, I got better today. I know exactly what I got better. I mean, I'm definitely always chasing that feeling at the end of the day. There's always some days where you get done with the course, and I'm always like, how was your day? And I was like, it was not good. Yeah. But then there's some other days where you're like, I had a really good day.
1:47:01I felt like I definitely improved. And I feel like more often than not, I want that feeling when I leave the course. And we're always kind of striving to get there. And I feel like I can get a little bit impatient, I think, sometimes when it's not going that way.
1:47:12PFT Commenter:Yeah. Yeah. By the way, when you – I think – was it a FedEx prank video with Eli Manning? That was the worst costume ever. You knew that was Eli, right? Yeah. I think he showed up on the range. Yeah. Come on. At first, he had his head down. And so you couldn't really tell. But he was like – he's so tall. Yeah. You're like, you're not a normal looking person. We like Eli, but it was like, dude, come on. You got to put on like some prosthetics or something. Yeah, or like have a chair or something. Like just seeing him standing there, like he came up to us in the range. He just got his head down.
1:47:43Big Cat:He's like 6 '6", Mike. Dude, who's this guy? He always sounds like a Manning no matter what voice he puts on. Yeah, that's true. I'm just here with FedEx.
1:47:52PFT Commenter:Yeah. I got a question for you, kind of a serious question. Because when we've had you on before, I've always – I think I said it last time you're on. Like I love how honest you are. as an athlete. And I think that's rare for athletes to be able to be honest, like talking about your faith, talking about your family. When it comes like, and it's always weird to me with sports media where it's like, guys are honest. And then we criticize them. It's like, no, we want them to be honest. We want them to be themselves. Would you say that like, as a man, like crying after an injury is like fine. Like a hamstring injury.
1:48:26Big Cat:But what if it's, it's probably a really bad hamstring injury that you're talking about. Right. It seems really bad.
1:48:31PFT Commenter:He's like getting cut off and like everyone's like, oh, fuck. But it might not be that bad. So I had Caleb. I have Caleb. He was starting on. So you cried too. I was like, yeah. Yeah. Okay. See? Emotion's okay to show. Well, like on a more, like if it's a serious question, like I'm super, super emotional guy. I cry at everything. Love that. Same. But yeah, seeing Caleb, like you just, I don't know what to say to that. Because now, like, I read today it was like a grade one. Yeah, but in the moment he was really hurt in the moment past. I'm not going to even begin to try to understand what those football players go through each week.
1:49:09We were even watching some of this stuff yesterday. Like, I can't remember who it was for the Cowboys, but he got hit low.
1:49:16PFT Commenter:Yeah, he got stepped on the taint. The one guy who got stepped on the taint, that did happen in the playoffs game too. I just remember watching and he was going across and he got hit like right here. Yeah. Okay. It might have been that. Yeah, yeah. With a helmet. And I'm like, if somebody did that to me, like, he's running full speed this way. That guy's running full speed this way. And they just got up. Yeah. He kept playing. Yeah. I was like, I would never be able to get up from that. So I'm not going to go down the – I'm a golfer. I'm not going to try to relate our golf injuries to – No. You've heard of a hamstring?
1:49:45Big Cat:Oh, no. Okay. He hasn't hurt. What's the worst – yeah, what's the worst injury you've had? Hand, foot, and mouth. Hand, foot, and mouth. That is pretty bad. I got a wine glass through my hand a few years ago. Oh, shit. Oh, man.
1:49:55PFT Commenter:That's like a baseball player injury. It was pretty dumb.
1:49:59Big Cat:Or hockey. It happened here. Chicago one time.
1:50:03PFT Commenter:So you agree. Athletes should be able to show their emotions more. It's a loaded question.
1:50:09Big Cat:You're not talking about emotion. You're talking about emotion or are you talking about pain? Everything. All in one. It's an emotional thing to play a professional sport. I did not think that's where that question was going to go.
1:50:22PFT Commenter:You like how I did that? I was like, okay, I better put on the serious hat. And then I just want to be like, Scotty, tell me that it's fine that my quarterback had an emotional moment. It's fine. I think it's fine. Yeah, it's fine. Exactly. Thank you.
1:50:34Big Cat:What was your emotion when you so callously broke Jaden Daniels' elbow? I was like, man, they really should have kicked a field goal. Yeah. Yeah. Butterfly effect. Yeah, it's a butterfly effect. I think seeing injuries in sports really stinks. Yeah. Yeah. Like getting injured, like I remember when I hurt my hand, I missed the first couple of tournaments. Like you put so much work into putting yourself in a position to succeed and then you get injured and it's something out of your control. I think especially in a sport like football where they just get injured all the time, like it really sucks to watch.
1:51:06Big Cat:Yeah. It really does. It does. I have a – Sport. I have a like golf – strictly golf nerd related question. And maybe you can explain it to me because I think a lot of people out there, they watch you play. They understand you're the best player in the world. and they look at your feet when you swing. And they're like, what is going on with the feet? And I know that there's a reason. There's like a method behind the madness and something that you're trying to do. But I realized when I was watching your swing the other day, like, I don't know what that is. I don't know why you do that with your feet.
1:51:36Big Cat:So can you explain it? Like, we're dumb. We don't know anything about golf. But can you dumb it down to our level? Oh, yeah. I can dumb it down pretty easy. Okay. Yeah, I don't know exactly what I'm doing with my feet. But I've had the same coach since I was seven years old. and like randy's fixed a lot of stuff for me but that was something that if he ever tried to fix it it just didn't feel natural and so like you could go into the science behind it but for me i just feel athletic when i'm hitting a golf ball and if i lock my feet in i feel too robotic
1:52:02PFT Commenter:okay swing your swing swing your swing yeah yeah i like the swing your swing thing that people say because it's like i'm a i have a bad swing but i'm gonna swing it yeah i mean swing like golf is such a complicated game i think sometimes for people like the simpler you can make it the easier it typically gets yeah and so like you look at there's a lot of guys that are playing some really good golf right now that have different looking swings like oh i got her up on a few days ago like it's about as unique of a move as you'll see on tour yeah and he's really really good at golf yeah do you do the same thing every time with your feet i mean i'm not even thinking about it at all like if if i never saw a video of it i would never know that i do that really whoa that's
1:52:42Big Cat:what would happen if you tried to just my swing i don't know any different yeah what would happen if you tried to hit a shot and you thought the entire time don't move your feet i'd probably chunk it pretty bad and that would be yeah do you think we could beat you if you scotty not allowed to move his feet and then all of us could be ramble max hates it when we ask golfers that
1:53:03PFT Commenter:question yeah uh hey you got any questions for scotty he's gonna run in a minute oh by the way uh stew finer says hello uh did he did it ever get to you that he wanted you to come to his house when you guys played at Bethpage? I mean, I would have loved to be able to go to his house. Yeah, I think you were pretty busy. He texted me. He called me. He was like, can you get Scotty to come to my house? He was like, look, I know one of Scotty's guys. I will send the text, but I do not think that he has the time on a major week to come by. I think that's something that a lot of people don't understand about golf is it's not like a typical practice schedule.
1:53:41The days are long. Our days are really long. Our days at home are really, really long days. Like today, we're left for the course at 7.30, and I haven't showered yet. Right. Like I got home, and I went straight to see my trainer, then went straight to media, and now I'm here.
1:53:57PFT Commenter:Because we think of golf as like three and a half hours, four hours, play, then go home. Yeah, like you hit your first tee shot, and that's your first shot of the day. Yeah. But Stu, if he wanted you to come, I was like, yeah. My apologies, Stu. Yeah. He loves you. You know he loves you. and I hope you're still watching Advisors. I am still watching Advisors. He's still killing it. He's the best. He was the absolute best. And he might try to find you the next couple days. That whole answer. Let him come find me.
1:54:24Big Cat:That whole answer you gave is just going to encourage him.
1:54:27PFT Commenter:Oh, yeah. Yeah.
1:54:27Big Cat:No, he's going to hear this and he's going to be like, okay, Scotty, we're doing dinner. You got a question for Scotty? I saw a clip of Siwu saying, which it was hard to believe, that he learned how to hit different shot shapes playing with you. but he was like already a pro golfer whoa is that true um siwu and i started playing a lot of golf together so siwu made this maybe two or three years ago he asked me one day just stopped me in the locker room he's like hey you remember at royal oak and i was like yeah like what's up like he's like you you can help me join there and i was like yeah like if you want to like it's called royal oaks not royal oak but yeah i can help you join there and so i helped him get into the club it's a club i grew up at it's where my coach randy's been for like 50 years now and we play a lot of golf together and he asked a lot of questions.
1:55:14I don't know if y 'all have ever interacted with him but he's awesome. Yeah. He's everybody's favorite guy.
1:55:18PFT Commenter:Yeah. How many clubs do you remember at? Just three. But you can go anywhere. Has anyone ever said no? I've never really tried. That would be crazy. I've never said no. Like, imagine that. I kind of want someone to say, I want like a muni course to say no. Just be like, sorry, Scottie, you can't come.
1:55:38Big Cat:Banned. We back to blue here. Sorry, Scottie. You got another question? Follow up? But yeah, maybe. I don't know. He asked a lot of questions when we play golf. It was just shocking because he was obviously like, he's a professional golfer at that point. And he was like, yeah, you know, I was playing with him and he was telling me like how he hits, He just tries to fade it towards the pin or draw it towards the pin, and then I started doing that too. That's sick. It kind of sounds like seaweed. Any hazing for Jackson, the young guy, new guy on the team? And Goddara. And Goddara. Yeah. Or anything that you had to do that you're making them do?
1:56:14Not really. Our thing is always stuff that's in the team room we try to keep in the team room. Unless you're Kisner. Kisner talks a lot about stuff we're doing. he talks a lot about a lot oh yeah right yeah no no he no he's covering it i think he might be yeah yeah i was about to say i haven't seen him yet this yeah but no i mean we just try to get the guys integrated to the team like jackson's like i mean he maybe played five events as a professional before this one and so i mean he's super green but um he's very mature and he's
1:56:43PFT Commenter:really really good at golf ask him if he knows there's uh you're not gonna ask him this but i'm to make you i'm gonna say ask him and you're not gonna do it but that's fine ask him if he knows there's a tracker fight over him there's two trackers oh jackson coiven trackers yeah we oh that's the other guy who's the other guy who the tracker fight was oh it's him yeah yeah there was two guys both claiming they were the tracker and then they would like they fought back and forth do you have no i track him no i track him and it was it was good stuff are you aware that was a
1:57:11Big Cat:really bad story i'm bailing on i'm just curious if you are aware of like the tracking community Not really. I try to do my best to kind of stay out of it. We talk about my process. Me staying off the internet is definitely a good thing. Very smart. I'd agree. You got your advisors. That's all you need. You're getting a taste.
1:57:29PFT Commenter:This conversation is that's all day, every day on the internet. You don't want that. I am embarrassed that I brought that up in front of you. All right, Zach, get out here. Get out here, Zach, for the last question, and then Sky's got to go. Good question, Hank. President's Cup, two-day and all week. It starts Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, USA. get ready thanks a big always just root for our country hank is a big international guy he's
1:57:50Big Cat:going to be rooting against you live guy yeah yeah he's a big live guy all right uh rowback
1:57:55PFT Commenter:question rho b-a-c-k.com promo code take 20 off your first purchase qzips polos hoodies joggers shorts rowback.com promo code take zach you got this uh how we doing scotty i just did have that's awesome i love that great day man even better now uh i did have a quick question that's cool if you're looking to have like the best day on the golf course not necessarily like the lowest scoring round but just the best day overall if you're a part of this four-man team what are the three guys are you kind of who you draft and who you bring into the cart for the best day possible on the golf course i mean i have two two good options like i think of like i have a few really close friends at home and those guys i would definitely bring out and then i have kind of like my fun golf group that i've played with for a long time but those guys are a lot older um so either one of those two just like one of my favorite things too is like social golf like even when i take a break i still like social golf so like going out compete gamble a little bit and have fun now when you're so say you're going out with those guys back home are we going full strength 100 pop or is it like do you dial the game back at all i mean i've always kind of just had one speed so like i maybe would go into it just being like oh i'm just gonna go have fun and then i'll like lose the first hole and be like yeah it's kind of like when you go play like i can't play pickup basketball because like yeah yeah gotcha just only have one speed like it's right things are going to get out of hand.
1:59:14You just got to go. I'm just going to go and I'm probably going to hurt myself. Yeah. That makes sense for sure. So I would definitely try to approach it that way but that would quickly get thrown out. All right. You got a follow-up? Last question. Follow-up that's cool to you. Are there any lessons you learned through your like journey with golf that kind of you apply to your own like day-to-day life outside of the course that like you could kind of maybe share with us if that's cool? Oh, a deep question. Yeah.
1:59:38I think it's always just about remembering your why. Like I think sometimes when things don't go the way that I think they should go on the golf course. Like I can get frustrated because I work really, really hard to try and perform, but things don't always go that way. And I feel like golf, you're not only competing against your golf, the golf course or the people in the tournament, but also yourself. And like remembering my why is always important. Like, why do I wake up every day and try to become the best golfer that I can be? Like, why do I wake up and, you know, try to be a good husband, try to be a good father?
2:00:07Like, why do you do all those things? And I think that for me just in life always remembering the why i do things remembering the purpose behind
2:00:14PFT Commenter:things is is always the most important sky's just the best dude he's my role model even though i'm 11 years old wait how old are you um 30 yeah damn yeah i feel so i look up to scotty sheffler you're so much more mature than all of us it's crazy have you always been super mature it's crazy oh no i don't think i'm very mature it might be us it might be like profound and you you think about things like that and we're we have like stupid caveman dumb we're thinking about trackers well like i think that's something you can always like everybody can relate to and i think especially y 'all can relate to like i i remember going on that long thing at the open one year we're talking about like all this different stuff and um like what is truly satisfying i feel like that's something you can relate to like if you don't know your why like you guys have accomplished so much in your field that you'd want to accomplish but you wake up the next day and you're still the same guy like you still like the sun rises in the morning you gotta brush your teeth you gotta take a shower like just because you accomplish something it doesn't change doesn't really change anything for you and so remembering your why and your purpose and
2:01:16Big Cat:um i think it's just most important you were 100 right like when you said that all that stuff at the open i know that like some people were like hey what's going on here like they maybe disagreed with some things it's like that's a guy that that understands himself and understands what motivates him was that all off the top or did you had you been thinking about that for i'm definitely not like i've i try to keep my distractions to a minimum so i definitely don't like going on these like really deep yeah things but i try to answer questions honestly and so when somebody asks a really good question i try to give them a good answer or the best answer that i can it's a great answer yeah top of the head yeah like it yeah i'd say just try to be honest and then yeah that's why
2:01:55PFT Commenter:you and caleb williams are the best you'll give a really good answer you might cry a little like That's the best part about sports, dude. It's the best. All right, Scott. I'll cry a little. We took too much of your time. Thank you so much, man. This was so much fun. We love having you on the show. And let's win USA. Yeah. Go USA. Thanks for having me on. Appreciate you guys.
2:02:14Big Cat:Scotty Scheffler was brought to you by our great friends over at Shell. I'm going to be honest. I usually don't get excited about loyalty programs. They promise you big rewards, and then it's like you actually have to eat 48 pizzas to get one for free. So when I heard about the Shell Fuel Rewards program, I was skeptical. But here's the thing. It actually kind of is annoyingly practical. You're already getting gas. You're already getting takeout. You're already buying snacks that you definitely didn't need but absolutely deserve. With Shell Fuel Rewards, you just get rewarded for all that. And it's not a fake points you'll never use way.
2:02:45Big Cat:It's actual savings on gas. And the savings stack up. It's not like one sad little discount. You fill up. You eat. You shop. It all piles into real savings at the pump. Joining takes less than three minutes in the Shell app. You'll save on every fill after that. Literally every single one you will save at. And savings on gas might be something that interests a lot of you right now. And it's so easy to do. If you want my recommendation, join the Shell Fuel Rewards program and save today. The Shell Fuel Rewards and save today. And Joe Davis is coming up and he's brought to you by Venmo. Football season has a way of turning every normal weekend into a group project.

And eventually, somebody says the three most important words in the English language. I'll Venmo you. And then, bam, the money shows up right there in your Venmo balance. 2:04:25PFT Commenter:Okay, we now welcome on a very, very special guest. It is first time, I guess colleague, kind of. Joe Davis, you can hear the voice. Joe Davis, you can hear him on Sundays calling NFL games. You're also going to hear him calling the Fall Classic in the World Series baseball playoffs coming up. Joe, good to see you in studio. It's great. Your voice is awesome. Thanks, man. When did you first know that your voice was awesome? I always assume announcers like you. Yeah. In my head, I'm like Joe Davis is just an 11-year-old walking around with your exact same voice and being like, what is this kid's like?
2:05:03PFT Commenter:He sounds incredible. He's only 11. What the hell? Yeah, yeah. I used to, you know, every kid out in the backyard playing their football games and everything, but I would announce them too. And I think my parents probably thought I was crazy looking out there, seeing their kid tackle himself and hit himself on the helmet and call the games and everything at the same, these fake games. Honestly, though, I worried. So I knew I wanted to do this, but as a teenager, I was like, I don't know if I sound good enough. I don't know if I'm – and obviously at that point, you're not going to sound like an announcer or whatever.
2:05:37I still – I think that I have this insecurity about do I sound big enough? Do I sound like Al Michaels and Vern Lundquist and Brent Musburger? So there's some insecurity there still, I think. I'm going to take that comment. You're there. I think it's also you've had the privilege of calling some classic moments.
2:05:59PFT Commenter:I mean, last year's World Series. Yeah. If you want to do like, hey, how has Joe Davis announced it to the world? He's here. It's like that was such a classic World Series, just big moment after big moment. You crushed it. That's now seared in our brains. Yeah, and isn't it crazy how it's like you just kind of have to be right place, right time with that? Right. I just happen to be the lucky son of a gun sitting in that chair when these crazy games are happening. And then you hope that you get the call right. But yeah, I mean, it's kind of the same thing with me doing Dodger games. I happen to show up in 2016, and they have this stretch that they've had over the last decade.
2:06:37It's really just right place, right time with a lot of that.
2:06:39Big Cat:When you were growing up, did you have announcers that you looked up to? Do you emulate some of those guys as you were trying to get into the business and figure out what your voice was? Yeah, it's not just because his name's on your book there, wrote the forward, but Joe Buck was the guy for me, where knowing that I wanted to do the job, I think at first, honestly, when you're as young as you start having those thoughts, I want to be this or that when I grow up, I knew I wanted to do this job, and Joe is the guy calling all the biggest games, And so I think just by osmosis at first, I was learning how to announce by listening to him.
2:07:14And then as I started to really pay attention to it, I was like, yeah, this is how it should sound. This is the guy that I want to sound like. So Joe, for sure.
2:07:21PFT Commenter:And do you credit Joe? Because Joe, if Joe doesn't go Hollywood and go to ESPN for like$300 billion and be like, I don't like baseball anymore, you might not be able to sit in that chair. No doubt. Like he kind of, shout out Joe, right? Yeah, Joe, thanks, man. So he went from being this guy that I dreamt of being like to I go to Fox and I get to meet him. And he became and still is a mentor and a friend to me. And he for years was saying to me when I was the number two baseball guy, they're like, ah, this will be your chair soon. I'm like, yeah, OK, like you're going to leave the World Series.
2:07:58You keep telling me that I'll believe it when I see it. And then I remember when I got that call, my agent called me, whatever this would have been, winter of 22, and said, he's like, hey, you saw the news about Aikman going to ESPN. I was like, yeah, crazy, right? And he's like, dude, you're not thinking what the next step to that might be. And I was like, no, I'm not. What is this? And he said, there's a chance Buck's going to go with him. And I was like, oh, shit. Like, okay. So for a month and a half, because it took forever before it became official, I was on my phone refreshing social media every five minutes, waiting for an update and just sitting there with bated breath thinking, there's no way he's actually going to do this, right?
2:08:39Right. But then he did. So, yeah, I want to thank God. I want to thank Joe Buck. Yeah. Yeah.
2:08:43Big Cat:He is the best. When you were growing up and you're thinking, hey, it might be a sportscaster one day, the name Joe Davis, it's a good name. It's a great name. Did you think about, does that have enough splash? Is that going to stand out enough to make me get my resume to the top of any piles? It is so boring, isn't it? It sounds like fake. It's just so regular. It's like a solid. It's a good name. Yeah. It's a good name. I'd want Joe Davis to build my house. Right.
2:09:08PFT Commenter:But you want him to be like calling a game seven of the World Series.
2:09:11Big Cat:It probably took like five games for me to be like, oh, that's Joe Davis. Because the name won't jump up at you like a Joe Buck. Like Buck is. That's strong. Sticks. Buck feels like it's got a period at the end of it. For sure. Mine's like dot, dot, dot.
2:09:26PFT Commenter:You might be AI. I mean, how would you know? How would you know? Say something bad about AI. Not going to do it. Not going to do it. Not taking the bait, boys. J.D. Davis would have been a cool name, too.
2:09:39Big Cat:That's cool. That's actually like you do the S-Corp thing. Yeah. I think J.D. Davis is my thing because D is my middle name. Okay. So you're on to something. J.D. Davis. It's not too late to change. No, definitely not. Welcome to the World Series Game 1 of the World Series with John Smoltz. I'm J.D. Davis. I just say it and don't even. That was really good. Thanks. You know what that is? That was really good. Thanks, man. That's a Super Bowl voice. Thanks, dude. Yeah. I can hear that. Super Bowl name. J.D. Davis. That's really good. That's good. I'm going to let that sit and see what the people think.
2:10:15Big Cat:Do you have a voice care routine?
2:10:21feel the cold coming on it can't happen right so i like i i got this regimen of stuff i don't even know what it is but i'll get a hold of my doctor like i'm getting sick and he's like okay go to the pharmacy and i take whatever they got some giant pills i don't know what it is but it knocks
2:10:37Big Cat:it out yeah you can't get sick right yeah big cat has one time every year it's usually around i'd say like late november early december after we've been you know in the thick of football season there'll be one week where big cats i lose my voice it goes away it's like every year like clockwork it's crazy what do you do when you feel it coming on to fight i have to like shut it down
2:10:54PFT Commenter:for like two days because i i you i have in years past just tried to power through and then it just gets so bad and then everyone's like dude this is the worst podcast to listen to why are you doing this so yeah it's really only like it sucks because you obviously will think about it a lot more because it's you know your voice is your job but we're so stupid and we've kind of lucked into this whole thing that I have to remind myself like, oh yeah, your voice is also your job. Like you kind of need that. I need that. Yeah. But I mean, take a week off. You can take a vacation. Yeah. Not in the middle of football.
2:11:28PFT Commenter:No, no, definitely not. All right. So, so right now you're, you're ready. You're calling the NFL on Sundays and you have baseball playoffs coming up. Is this your, like, do you feel it in the air? Like this is about to turn like baseball season. I know you call the Dodgers games, but can you feel it? and you're like, this is about to get real fun, which I'm sure also means very busy. September's a crazy month where it's the overlap. Like you said, you got the NFL on Sunday, still Dodger games. So, like, I'll have Dodgers-Padres this week, and then NFL again this weekend, some Thursday Fox baseball game.
2:12:01So September's crazy where it's all three of them together. October, at least, it doesn't usually line up where Sundays are off on baseball. So I'm all baseball through October. yeah this is what it gets busy and crazy and the prep is is a lot but i very quickly can remind myself like oh my god this is exactly what i dreamt of doing how lucky am i so it takes like five seconds to go from oh this is a lot to this is the coolest thing ever yeah did you get a do
2:12:30PFT Commenter:you get a world series ring are you are you employed by the dodgers uh-huh all right so i'll cross off that mark walter question um do you have two rings that's just still clear yeah three got the one from 2022 okay well yeah wait the 20 wait 2022 or 20 24 25 yeah just so you know that 2020 20 does not count yeah i think at this point they'd kind of be like yeah we don't need to claim it they'd say because it's like well let me ask you a question if someone was like hey let me see your dodger rings would you lead with the covid no okay how about i rest my case you have two legitimate rings they're sweet too but i've never worn them they sit they sit in the boxes and people like to see them when they come over to the house or whatever i just can you imagine me going to pick up the kids at school or whatever and put those big ass rings on my hand and somebody being like hey like dang you won a championship yeah and i'm like what talked about people winning a championship but check me out right and one of these doesn't really count Yeah, the 20s.
2:13:33Right. Yeah.
2:13:34Big Cat:So you were on the call in 2022 then? Wait, say that again? You were on the call in 2022? 2022, yes. So the Astros-Phillies. Astros-Phillies is my first one. You remember the no-hitter? Yeah. That was a no-hitter, right? I mean, I hate to combine no-hitters. Right, but how many hits did the Phillies get? They got zero.
2:13:53PFT Commenter:Oh. Yeah. So that's a no-hitter, right? It's a no-hitter. I feel like I'm not meaning to, but I'm answering somebody's argument here. Yes, you are. 100 % you're good picking up on this I'm hearing it's not a real no hitter and Max I agree In that call did you say in the Phillies get no hit If you listen to the call I'm like I'm not really that into it Wait wait wait wait Now I'm going to ask the Mark Walter question alright You're not going to agree with us You said on the call it's a no hitter I did yeah So did you lie I guess I lied to the world No I did not lie it is a no hitter It's just like a stupid one.
2:14:32Okay. Great. I agree.
2:14:34PFT Commenter:Yeah. Awesome. But it's still a no-hitter, right? No-hitter, technically, yes. Dodgers had one in Mexico a few years ago, combined no-hitter. First of all, they played in Monterey, Mexico, and we're going to the stadium, and there's guys with machine guns and stuff as we're pulling in. We go into the booth. The booth is, it was like carpeted steps, and we sit on one carpeted step, and our equipment's on the next. Just a disaster of a setup. What happened? Combine no hitter. Yeah. And I was like, it was raining. I was like, this is so dumb. So I don't know what my answer is. No hitter, though. So dumb no hitter.
2:15:13Dumb no hitter.
2:15:14Big Cat:Okay, that's fine. Dumb no hitter. I'm okay. I think that's the technical term. I'm cool with that, too, honestly. You okay with that? Yeah. Yeah. All right. What was the most iconic October moment? The dumb no hitter or giving everybody in the booth salmonella when you were carving that turkey? Oh, hey. So I felt pretty good about that turkey. You did a good job, Garvin. Thanks, man. But you didn't cook it, right? No, I didn't cook it. Yeah. Looked a little under. Well, you know, I think the pink, I'm hoping, was just like a smoke ring kind of thing and not salmonella. Yeah. Yeah. We all did survive.
2:15:51Yeah. Yeah.
2:15:52PFT Commenter:Do you ever tell Greg Olson to chill out, dude? You look too hot sometimes? hot like sexy yeah he's a good looking guy he's a good friend of ours I don't know if he gave you a scouting report for this show at all what did he say he was like those guys are also hot he led with sexy is the word he used I was like I've seen him yeah but that Cody wore what was that last year was it as bad in person as it looked on TV it was like too checkered
2:16:19Big Cat:it was like the pattern it jumped off the page he looked like a car salesman he tried to shame us after
2:16:24PFT Commenter:because he said his wife picked it out I was going to say I was going to defend him We powered through that. We're like, all right, so your wife has bad taste. That's fine. We'll just say that. Ooh, right? What are you trying to do, Greg? He does say, though. He's like, last week, I remember making the comment, we were at dinner the night before the game, and he's like, I haven't put a suit on in six months or whatever. So what's it going to look like? I don't know. I don't know what suit I have in my bag. It was this one. Yeah, that's not great. It was so bad. That's not great. So when he shows up, do you guys have a relationship?
2:16:52PFT Commenter:Like, he walks in to the booth on game day. can you say like oh dude what are you doing or is it more like hey greg you know turn your suit down yeah not your best one no i'm like and he's so like it's a combination like you guys said good looking handsome man and the most disheveled person you've ever met yeah hair is everywhere he's like he's like a little more put together chris farley yeah energy but then he just does like one swipe and it's like it's perfect that's a greek god yeah first game i ever worked with him we were in atlanta and it was you know you go on the air one at one o 'clock or whatever it's 12 58 30 12 59 he's nowhere to be found i'm standing there wired up ready to go on the air like checking my hair like i think it's pretty good i hope i have a partner and our producer pete macheska legend you guys should have on sometimes where is he we got 90 seconds where is he i'm like i don't know you get 30 seconds where's your partner and i'm looking and i get he i don't see him and greg comes storming into the room disheveled throws his hair like that sits down gives me a pound and three till one bam but there he was looking so good yeah pro pro's pro i think
2:18:07Big Cat:maybe his wife gave him that that jacket to like take him down a couple notches right like i can't
2:18:11PFT Commenter:have you looking so hot on tv yeah get him off the set let me do this straight out of shark tails
2:18:18Big Cat:nobody's gonna like you if you wear this what's the um can you help us understand the uh the art to calling a game in terms of when not to say anything because sometimes that's the best when announcers just like know when to let the moment kind of be itself and let it breathe yeah i i think it's a feel thing i think it's easier to do when the team that does the big thing is at home and the crowd's going crazy and um it's like the the tv term for it is laying out that's the the inside baseball way of putting it but i don't know i i don't have to i think it kind of becomes innate as you do more games you just sense that that crowd is almost like a third voice because when that crowd gets rocking i think that we all have that feeling like this is what we love about sports right so to to say anything in that moment it's not like you have to have any kind of restraint it just for me it feels like what you're supposed to do like what am i going to say that's better
2:19:12PFT Commenter:than 50 000 people losing their minds right yeah yeah it's a good point yeah um i'm trying to think uh in terms of your iconic so you have a couple iconic the freddie freeman one right did you know was it uh gibby meet freddie do you know right away like i nailed it i felt pretty good about that yeah you you have like a fist pump call what's your do you have any others that are like i fucking nailed that yeah you definitely when you when you get one you feel like right uh the bryce harper home run in the uh nlcs in 2022 what was that call swing of his life i said that's fucking good that's awesome so i just like i i think that it's when you're doing the championship events.
2:20:00I think it's one thing to get the call right. But then I think there's this responsibility too to say something that, and this is where Buck is the greatest ever to do it. He doesn't just call it and tell you what happened well. He gives it context that almost like elevates it a little bit, or at least like helps it stand the test of time. And you kind of begin to associate the moment with the call. So I think anytime that you can wrap in the context of what this moment means beyond just, oh, go ahead, a home run for Bryce Harper or a walk-off grand slam for Freddie Freeman. Well, no, that's what it is, but what does it mean?
2:20:37So those, yeah, fist-pump moments for a play-by-play guy come, I think, when you can give it that added layer of context.
2:20:43Big Cat:Yeah. Did you ever consider having a catchphrase? No. Because I do think that that probably keeps you from that happening some because you're putting your thing. and I'm not against having a catchphrase but just for me, I think if you have that thing that you're going to slap on a moment no matter what the moment is it keeps you from really giving it the context that it's asking for. Stay fluid you want to stay fluid. I think it has to be natural too. Some guys are catchphrase guys and it works. Like Mike Breen when he says bang it works because that's a natural extension of his personality I think into the game.
2:21:22Big Cat:But if you push can I maybe make one or two suggestions for you i already got the jd davis thing so what else what would jd davis say i think that's a jd guarantee i think he might say so good i think he might say uh it's jover what about that like grand slam walk-off home run it's jover oh right yeah yeah for your name that's for sure that's that's a joe call right because it's got the j in it yeah exactly right now you're thinking yeah um what about if a uh quarterback misses a wide open receiver like Wide open, nobody within five yards of him running downfield. If he catches that, he's still running.
2:22:00Big Cat:But you put the emphasis on him. He's still running. He's still running. It's got legs. It really does. And it's not only got legs, but the legs are running. Yeah, still. He's still running. Joe overthrow. Can I just start throwing J's? Yeah, why not? Absolutely. Yeah. Think about he's still running, though. He's still running is good. We've tested that. We've done some focus group. Okay. It works. It has hit. Critical mass.
2:22:22PFT Commenter:Like five out of six of the people on this podcast love it. Yeah, for sure. Yeah, I'm not even going to workshop it then. I'm just going to go with it. Thanks, guys. Can we talk a little baseball? Because you watch, obviously, you're calling the Dodgers. You've seen all these teams. Who's going to win the World Series? Are you allowed to say? It should be. They give you a script, right? The Dodgers are the best team. Yeah, they tell you what's going to happen. It's just crazy. Like, you guys know baseball, especially if you get in that three-game wildcard series. Yeah. Good God. It looks like they're going to avoid that.
2:22:54But even a five-game short series, it takes one or two bad days, and your season's over. I mean, how many times during a regular season do you see the worst team beat the best team two out of three? It happens every few days. Yeah. So, I mean, I think, yes, do you take the Dodgers or do you take the field? It's a coin flip, the injuries they're dealing with.
2:23:13PFT Commenter:Yeah, what's their weakness right now? The problem with the Dodgers, and I hate the Dodgers and what they've been able to do is that they're going to get in the playoffs and they're just going to convert all of their half-injured starting pitchers who probably have won Cy Young's in their career to explosive bullpen arms. And you're like, this is bullshit. Like when Tyler Glass now is coming out to pitch in the seventh inning, you're like, this isn't fair. But that's what's going to happen, right? Are they going to move some of those guys? Yeah. So you asked what the weakness is at this point.
2:23:42They are pretty hurt. They are pretty hurt at this point. Oh, what a shame. But, yeah, to your point, it's like they got the depth where if you're looking at a phase of the team that has issues it's right-handed relief okay but that may get covered up by the way they like you use tyler glass now as an example now i think that at this point glass now is going to be a starter but as you game seven of the world series last year they all pitched every starter pitched so i think they look at it as not a rotation a four-man rotation in the postseason they look at it as a 13-man pitching staff and they're going to cover these however many games they got to play however they need to so yeah it does become at times it feels
2:24:24Big Cat:like unfair with how many good arms they have do you have to kind of limit yourself like how excited you sound if the dodgers are playing well here's the the it's not like get less excited for the dodgers or get more excited for the other team because i really do i think if you listen to dodger games in the regular season i just really love baseball yeah i like to get excited for good plays no matter who's making them it's more how i'm framing the information when i'm doing it for dodger people that are listening to it every day it's a totally different presentation of the information than it is to a national audience so like repositioning all the information in my head kind of unlearning it and relearning it to present it to a national audience that's the bigger challenge than get less excited for the dodgers and get excited for the other team that makes
2:25:11PFT Commenter:sense yeah now we like this guy so feel free to uh talk openly with us but like at any point during the season you're like all right smultzy we get it like teams that use too many pitchers it's annoying how the game has changed yeah i give them a hard time on it yeah it's like i think a few years ago is it was everybody was kind of split right you had the old school people and then you had the new school analytics people well i think it shifted to the point where that kind of is baseball so there are times where i'm like i'll kind of needle i'm like john i get it but i also like it i like having the old school still have a voice in this because yeah otherwise it sports become almost like devoid of human like the human interaction it becomes a spreadsheet and who has the numbers and you put it in a graph and it's like okay now that's the winner like i want to hear the human side of it totally and i think that we all sort of yearn for that john smoltz who's going to, when he goes seven innings, you're like, why the hell did he only go seven innings?
2:26:09These days we're like, he's through six in a heroic effort, you know? So I think we all do yearn for the stuff that John talks about missing and that John came up doing as well as anybody. So I get it.
2:26:20Big Cat:Do you remember the first time you had to sit in a meeting and somebody explained the concept of having an opener to John? It's so funny you asked that. He talks about, I think it was the Brewers and the CS and 18 and Craig Council maneuvering the way they were against the Dodgers and how frustrated he was and seeing like Wade Miley out there to start a game. What are we doing? So, yeah, no.
2:26:48PFT Commenter:Have you ever asked him like, hey, man, the ironing the shirt thing, that was real, right? I haven't gone there, no. You got to. Yeah, yeah. He denies it. The story obviously goes that he got injured because he burned himself because he was wearing a shirt and ironing it while he was wearing it, which I'll hand up. I've done that. Like, I don't press to your body, but you'll touch it up a little here and there. I do the shoulders sometimes. Yeah, right. Yeah. So it's not something. Tell him that. Come up from that angle. Be like, John, we all do this. Like, it's not a big deal, dude. But just like, come on, be honest.
2:27:19PFT Commenter:You burned yourself. That's the way to get guys to be honest, right? To kind of lead them into it by being like, we've all done it. We all do this. We all iron ourselves.
2:27:27Big Cat:Yeah, I think you have to do it one day and like lightly like maybe just burn your Yeah, he's like, oh, what's up? Yeah, guys ironing And then just wait give that pause and see what he says. Yeah, right. Let's hang it there
2:27:44PFT Commenter:Yeah, you gotta do that Do you guys have a plan beforehand what you're gonna talk about in a blow-up because or just a boring game? I mean you just called the Bears Vikings game so bad. That was a tough one real tough one That one's different, though, because it was always close, so you can't do the goof around stuff. But do you have a plan? Like, hey, when you sit down before a game, hey, if this gets out of hand, here's what we're going to go to. I think that's just like the far reaches of your prep from the week. You more have a plan, at least the way our crew does it. We have a plan coming in really clear what we want to establish.
2:28:22And then you hope the game plays along. And here's the thing. You establish these storylines, and then if the game follows those storylines, that's your story in the second half. If the game doesn't follow those storylines, that's your story in the second half, right? That the teams are going against what you've laid out. When the blowout happens, that's when the prep about the guy's grandma and what he did as a kid, that's where that stuff sort of comes. That's less a plan and more just kind of the fruits of the prep that you've done throughout the week. Like yesterday, though, like that game, I found myself like pissed off at the rain.
2:29:01Yeah. You know, we're so excited for this game. I know. I think everybody is to see what this is going to look like. And then you see the rain in the forecast. And it's like, yeah, this is going to diminish it a little bit. But 9-3, what the heck?
2:29:14PFT Commenter:It was a bad game. The Bears played a bad game. Yeah. It was a tough, tough watch. Especially because you were on the call for the week before, right? Panthers-Bears? We were on – we had Steelers-Falcons. Oh, shit. So we're on quite a roll. So you might be the cooler. It might be us. Yeah. Oh, the Joe Davis under? Oh, no. Yeah.
2:29:35Big Cat:The Junder. The Junder might be a thing.
2:29:37PFT Commenter:I don't want it to be. It'd be so much better if you were an over guy.
2:29:39Big Cat:Yeah. Because it goes right with the nickname and the catchphrase that we talked about.
2:29:42PFT Commenter:We've got to track this. Yeah. If you're the Junder, just cooling games down left and right, that's a problem, Joe.
2:29:50Big Cat:Did you have to work yourself into being excited about Cooper Rush? how about this cooper rush's quarterback coach when he was in high school me oh let's go wait what let's go you coached him yeah so uh great job he's a great quarterback hey thank you oh shit so okay all right yeah he uh what i'm like probably four or five years older small towns mid michigan i was the good small town quarterback that kind of preceded him so i was playing division three football he was coming up in high school at that point starting to get recruited and when i would come home in the summers worked them a little bit so i say quarterback coach we would go work out together a little bit yeah yeah i mean have you told people this our crew knows i think we've done a little something when we've done cooper rush games yeah show pictures of us okay actually the lansing state journal a couple weeks ago my dad sent me this just had somebody had a big passing game and so they put out the 10 greatest passing performances in lansing area history cooper's one some kid from stockbridge and nobody's ever heard of his number two but then i've got the number three performance right oh hell yeah against him sorry about it okay that's actually that's a very fun fact very fun fact that's amazing you brought up cooper rush yeah i mean we talk about him a lot yeah he's kind of the biggest stories in the league right now
2:31:11PFT Commenter:Did you do any prep on Jack Strand? No. Oh, wow. I mean, enough to like if the guy shows up. So do you know that he's from the jump rope capital of the world? I did not know that. Where were you last week? You got to get your Jack Strand going. In case, because the Falcons might, if they let Jack Strand go, they might become like a real team. That's what they're saying. Let Jack Strand cook. That's what they've been saying.
2:31:36Big Cat:What about Matt Stafford and maybe some of his teammates from high school? Can you name a single teammate of Matt Stafford's from high school? Do you guys, I don't know if you know this, but do you know Matt Stafford and Clayton Kershaw are buddies? That's not believable. That's crazy. Nice one, JD. Good one, JD. I could fancy myself a storyteller, guys. Let me spin this yarn for you. I was talking about Jake Felt. Next time you get to that conversation, instead of Jake, you should zig while everyone zags. And here's Clayton Kershaw. Ask him about it. Who's that next to him? Ask him about Jake Felt.
2:32:09Big Cat:Jake Felt. Jake Felt was really – he was the straw that stirred the drink on those teams. We talked to Matt about it. And he was like, nobody remembers Jake Felt. Scored five touchdowns, state championship.
2:32:19PFT Commenter:Yeah, no, Matthew Stafford was like, actually, Jake Felt was the best athlete. I swear to God. And then we asked Clayton Kershaw, and he was like, yeah, I remember Jake Felt. Do we know what he's doing now? I think he just works in Texas somewhere. Okay. So, yeah. Okay. I was like, is that a dumb question? No, no, no. Back there. Listen, I'm telling you, they both swore by Jake Felt. So it's rare that you have two guys like Matthew Stafford and Clayton Kershaw being like, actually, there was another guy. Yeah, stud. Yeah. I'm trying to get Kershaw to do TV. Really? I think he'd be good at it. He actually came.
2:32:51He's doing some NBC stuff. Okay. But he's just down in the camera well for that, kind of the third guy, the field level analyst. He came to Atlanta a few weeks ago to do a Dodger game with me, and really good. It's so cool to see him because, you know, we see Kershaw, this intense competitor throughout his pitching career. But now that he's off of the field, he was like a 12-year-old boy just watching his favorite sport. That's awesome. It was so cool.
2:33:18PFT Commenter:Yeah. Do you want to hear my joke about your college? Yeah. Okay. What is the sound a fart makes in the bathtub? damn boy damn that's all i got for boy it's pretty good yeah yeah you never heard that one i have not no yeah but it works yeah it does doesn't it boy yeah that is what a sound of a fart in a bathtub boy yeah yeah yeah that's your college that's where i went that's all i got i got a buddy out of that so yeah that's do you yeah he that's just the only joke i got about boy that's all i got it's all you need though yeah do they have a good broad bad segment by me that was that That was Beloit.
2:33:53PFT Commenter:No. What'd you say? If they had a good broadcasting school, I was like, no, not at all. No, not at all. Yeah, I respect the fuck out of you for not being a Syracuse nerd. Thanks, man. I thought about it. I was like, but no, I'm not going to be a Syracuse nerd. I'm going to go to Beloit. Or a zoo or one of those, yeah. So first, they bring all the freshmen in, and then you go to your advisor. My advisor was this physics professor that had a top hat, and he was a world-class trumpet player. this guy's going to teach me how to call the world series for sure i sit down with him and he said so so tell me he takes his top hat off tell me what is it you want to do when you grow up and they're you know it's like i want to be a play-by-play announcer and he goes i have no idea what that is i'm like oh shit i should have gone i should have been a syracuse nerd uh but i think because it wasn't a broadcasting school a small school where i I could, like anything I wanted to do, I could find somebody who was into helping me try to chase that down.
2:34:53Yeah.
2:34:53PFT Commenter:That's cool. Because that is, you do, it does feel like Syracuse, Northwestern, Missouri, they just kind of churn out. For sure. Everyone. And it's cool to have someone who, you know, sound of a fart in a bathtub. That's right. Yeah.
2:35:05Big Cat:So how did you get, how'd you break into the business? Going to boit? Boit? Well, I told them, you guys know where I went? And they're like, oh yeah, I've heard that. I heard that. Right. Hey, I knew what I wanted to do. I think that was a big part of it. So I got there and right away was doing everything I could. And when I did graduate, be where I think a lot of guys are a few years after they graduate. So ready to take that big job right out of college. My first job was with the Montgomery Biscuits. Double A at the Tampa Bay Road. You guys got to get some kind of biscuit thing in here. Yeah, I've seen their hats.
2:35:45Big Cat:Their hats are great. They're sweet, right? And the mascot is an actual biscuit with eyes, slab of butter for a tongue. Yeah. So that was a huge deal. Got that gig. I was like, I'm the voice of the biscuits. What's up? Got that right out of college. I think that, I don't know, just kind of having that foresight, knowing what I wanted to do to set myself up to get a gig like that right out of college, kind of the springboard to get going. Yeah. Were there other teams that made you an offer and you're like, I like what the biscuits are doing? Yeah, right.
2:36:15PFT Commenter:The biscuits are just too delicious to pass on. That's right. It tastes way too good. I was going. So how about this? You guys are like this. I was summer before my senior year of college, Schaumburg Flyers, old Northern League team. I worked there, and they were starting a new franchise, the Lake County Fielders. Kevin Costner was part owner of this team. I think I vaguely remember this. Yeah, well, this became a whole thing. I used that summer before I was going to graduate in December. That was part of the deal, too. I graduated early so I could be ready to take a full-season baseball job right away as opposed to graduate in May.
2:36:51You've got to wait a full year. So I used that whole 2009 summer to try and impress the ownership group with the Flyers because they were teaming up with Costner, opening up the Lake County Fielders. And I had this job landed. I was going to be the voice of the Lake County Fielders. I got the biscuit shop, so I didn't do that. Well, you fast forward to the next summer, Lake County Fielders, the franchise starts, but they don't actually get the stadium built. I'm not sure Costner ever really was that involved. And the broadcaster who they wound up hiring quit mid-game on the air, pissed off that they weren't paying them.
2:37:30I'm sure you can still go find the clip. I love that. That's a great move. Yeah, they were playing in some kind of local muni ballpark. He's sitting in the bleachers calling these games as the voice of the fielders, and he just quit. That's a power move. Had I not gotten that Biscuit job, who knows? Yeah, shout out to Biscuits. Thanks, guys.
2:37:50Big Cat:It's an indoors moment. Right when you start working for the Biscuits, are you already looking for your next job? Because I don't think anybody gets into calling minor league baseball as the destination or as the end of their advancement as a play-by-play guy. So how quickly do you start applying for other jobs while you're working for the Biscuits? Right away. I'm kind of a maniac like that. I went down there and did, you know, I was making$16 ,000 a year to these Biscuits games. And so you had to do other stuff. I was doing, there was a studio in Auburn where the Baylor pre - and post-game show was run out of.
2:38:30So I was the pre - and post guy for the Baylor Bears that I would do during the winter. I ran camera for the local WSFA 12 morning show. That's when I got into coffee. We had a 5 a.m. morning show, and I was on the camera just doing this, like just to the left, a little to the right, just mind-numbing stuff for two hours each morning, doing those gigs, but also doing whatever I could to announce high school sports, to build the TV reel and make as many connections as I could. I did some games. Just grinding, yeah. Yeah, just trying to like, but it's kind of a catch-22 as you're trying to get into TV, or at least it was then.
2:39:07How do you get the TV tape without showing that you can do TV? And how do you show you can do TV if you don't get the chance to do it? So like whatever I could, these stupid looking one camera high school webcasts that I would do and turn into reels, and one thing led to another and just did three years in Montgomery.
2:39:29PFT Commenter:That's awesome. The voice unlocked you. All right, well, JD, this has been awesome. You're JD now forever. I love that. Roback question, R-H-O-B-A-C-K.com, promo code TAKE. I'm wearing it right now. Roback, great hoodies, polos, joggers, everything. Roback.com, promo code TAKE. Zach. How are we doing today, sir? Hi, Zach. What's going on, man? I did have a quick question. Yeah. Is there a, thinking back through your career, Is there a call that got away that maybe you think back and you're like, I would like to have that one back and run it again? Good question. So Game 7 last year, I don't think that I missed anything or had a specific call where it was like I blew that in Game 7.
2:40:08There's plenty of calls I've blown through the years, but Game 7 was one last year where I think I came into it. It was my first Game 7, and I think I made it into something bigger than, and maybe not bigger than it was, but bigger than I should have, where I was like, okay, game seven. That's what I waited my whole life for. And then I kind of came in gripping the wheel a little bit too tight, and then the game was what it was, which was just insane. So I had this feeling of kind of chasing my tail the whole night, didn't feel the way you want to feel. So like game three last year, 18 innings, that was so much fun because it's like a World Series game, rarely can you kind of let yourself just be yourself and have fun.
2:40:50You had no choice but to do that in an 18-inning game. Game 7 was different where it was like that, oh, God, just trying to hang on for dear life feeling that I would like to have back. I hope to get another Game 7 to try and do that a little bit differently. We got to get you another Game 7. Let's go. Can we make that happen? You guys are pretty, pretty powerful. We got to get you another Game 7.
2:41:11Big Cat:We'll pull some strengths for sure.
2:41:12PFT Commenter:Yeah, anything else, Zach? Go ahead, Zach. Yeah, quick follow-up. Do you consider yourself a better pit master or broadcaster? because I see an extensive history of barbecue online. Thanks, man. Oh, good poll there. I was hoping you guys would go there.
2:41:28I'm feeling pretty good about my cooking stuff. There's just no way. JD, no offense.
2:41:33PFT Commenter:There's just no way you're a better pit master than broadcaster. You're one of the best broadcasters, just statistically speaking, in the game. In the world. You're not one of the best pit masters. I guarantee you. There's just no way. What do you cook? Come on. I mean, the Holy Grail is brisket. better than that one in toronto yeah right so you're a brisket guy i try to be okay is that
2:41:55Big Cat:like lincoln riley brisket like how i don't know about this is he just you trying it's not good it's a little grayish yeah i mean how long do you how long do you smoke it for however long it takes no way that's kind of the right answer come on yeah come on joe zach tell them what kind of wood i mean there's some smoke rings on these uh these meats look pretty good You're a mesquite guy? I feel like that overpowers it, especially poultry. You're not doing mesquite. It doesn't need that. Then it just becomes mesquite taste in turkey. Big green egg is my go-to. Okay. I don't have as much time to do it these days, just three young kids and the work and everything.
2:42:37But if I screw up and say something I shouldn't say on the air and get canned, I think I'm going to open up my own. okay and just do that i just love that that yeah even do your own sauce now while you're on the
2:42:50Big Cat:air and then just have it like right next to you in the background what do we call the sauce i feel like you have an idea i don't i actually don't have a name for the sauce yet but we can
2:42:58PFT Commenter:think of one yeah we can just come for that yeah did you do you uh last last question do you do you keep a scorecard for every baseball game do you do it while you're calling the game i don't know you kind of have to though like to be able to tell the no no i i understand but i I would just get distracted. I don't know if I could write and talk. Have you ever kept score for? Yes. Oh, keeping score is the best. I'm not saying it's not. I'm saying his ability to stay, to like write down exactly what's happening while also talking. I'm too stupid to write and talk at the same time. I bet you would find, though, that it would be like, I can't picture the other way.
2:43:36Yeah. Where it's like, I can't picture being able to tell you what's happened in the game. Okay, yeah.
2:43:39PFT Commenter:I guess it's a really good way to like detail and follow it along. But I just, yeah. I don't know. speaking on a mic while writing is just – That's advanced shit. It's a lot. Graduate-level stuff. Yeah. What about drinking a beer?
2:43:53Big Cat:Joe Buck told us he drank a beer one time. Hey, how about this? Brady Quinn, who – I grew up as a quarterback Notre Dame fan wanting to be the next Brady Quinn, and then Brady became my partner at Fox. You think Greg's handsome. Yeah, no, he's – Right? What are we doing? Yeah. Yeah. Brady, we would, his first couple years doing games, he'd be really good once we got into the game, but he was really tense and uptight first couple series. So we would put a little beer, we'd open up one beer, half a beer here, half a beer there, unmarked cups, and not to like get drunk while we're doing the game, but more just to put him in that mindset of like, we're two dudes at the bar watching the game.
2:44:38And he got so much better, not because we were feeling anything, but because he kind of had that idea like, all right, let's chill.
2:44:45PFT Commenter:Yeah, I agree. Max, I'm stuck on... You can't... You'll start flipping a coin. If I put anything around you while we're doing the show, you get distracted. But keeping score to a baseball game, especially if you do it every single time you call it a baseball game, there's no thought that goes in. I'm just saying the actual writing would just fuck me up. But it's like a die. I know, I know. And I'm also not writing a novel or anything. Yeah, no, I know. You're just filling it in. It's really not that impressive what I do. I'm impressed. Thanks, man.
2:45:17Big Cat:I can't do two things at the same time. It does probably help you focus on the game, too. For sure. It's like taking notes in class. It's like you remember it more if you jot it down. Yeah, and if Trey Turner comes up, and I need to tell you about the day Trey Turner's had, I now have, by having written this stuff down, exactly when and what.
2:45:35PFT Commenter:Do you write in, like, pinch hitters and changes? Yeah. That's where I'd get screwed up. I agree with that. That's where I'm starting to write names down of, like, who's pinch hitting or who's moving to, you know, wherever they're moving in the field. That would fuck me up. You got to come hang out in the booth during a game sometime. Sit right there. Me and J.D., I like that. Let's go. Yeah. I'll teach you how to do that. Listen, the Cubs might make a run. We'll see. What do you think? Pitching is so bad. And Bregman, the freakiest injury ever. And he's so important. but chip in a chair when it comes to when it comes to the baseball playoffs just get in the dance yeah no doubt you know it's like guys can get hot you never know and pca has been electric so so good yeah yeah um that was a lot of fun yeah anytime you're around stop on by and uh we're excited to watch some baseball with you this uh october well we would both win the cubs make a little run yeah i'll be in chicago yep come back talk some more baseball get some ice some more football yeah let's go yeah love it thanks man thank you for having me okay before we get to guys on chicks lucy the lucy breakers are intense long-lasting flavor that actually satisfies i got the lucy in my pocket right now bite and burst tech bite down to pop the capsule for a satisfying click and rush a fresh flavor breakers flavors are built to stay vivid from start to finish apple turns icy berry gets a blast of citrus and mint gets even more minty creating a refreshing flavor experience that lasts longer and stays more interesting than ordinary pouches i got right now let me see what i got i have the uh apple ice in my pocket lucy is the go-to lucy's the only pouch that delivers long lasting on-demand flavor get 20 off your first order when you buy online at lucy.co slash pmt with code pmt and here comes the fine print warning this product contains nicotine and nicotine is an addictive chemical All right, Hank.
2:47:29PFT Commenter:Oh, we should have mentioned, by the way, shout out to the Atlanta Falcons for saving us because Michael Penix is back. Yep, love that.
2:47:36Big Cat:That is so huge. Love that because if it wasn't going to be him, I saw that there was one quarterback out there that is advocating for them to get that job. Yeah. We've got at least one volunteer. Do you know who that quarterback is? Who? I'll just read the tweet. You guess who this is from. When Cooper Rush and Jack Strand are stinking up in Atlanta, it makes zero sense that quarterbacks like Cam Newton, Jimmy Garoppolo Ryan Tannehill and myself aren't the veteran presence in the locker room to stabilize teams when their quarterback goes down Kaepernick nope Chad Kelly RG3 oh RG3 so RG3 is available for the Falcons job okay if you're interested what were you laughing at memes Max dropped his ring under the table during the Lucy Adreed and then his entire ass was out but I said before I went under there I was like my ass is gonna be out don't look at it
2:48:24PFT Commenter:oh you gave a warning Did he just tattle on his ass? Well, I looked, and memes was like smirking. I was like, what's going on? Yeah, and I tripped a little bit coming back. Zach, to my defense. The ring could have been further under this table. We need better discipline in the booth to turn the mics on and let us know. No, but it was made. I get that. I get that. But it drives me nuts when you guys are just laughing. I'm like, say it. Let's laugh together. I have some breaking moves. Yeah, breaking moves.
2:48:59Big Cat:Aaron Judge is likely out for the wild card series. Oh, fuck.
2:49:03PFT Commenter:That's the correct response for an injury. Yeah, Hank.
2:49:07Big Cat:You hate that, right? That sucks. You always want to play the best, right? You root against injuries harder than any man. So hard. Yeah, I mean, you play all these games to make it to the playoffs, and then you go up against a guy, Aaron Judge, although that might be better for the Yankees.
2:49:25PFT Commenter:he's terrible in the playoffs good point ewing theory i has he been he's had a couple really good playoffs he had a walk-off yeah he had like yeah playoffs where he was the only one who hit i think as a whole he hasn't been great i i but no but do i not remember last time he had that world series when he just yes lost lost him the world series he had he had that good opening
2:49:48Big Cat:round game last year and then i might everybody was like aaron judge is back i'm remembering a
2:49:54PFT Commenter:specific playoffs where he's hitting like 700 and no one else on the team was good 236 career uh playoff right but is there one recently he's been better 822 ops is pretty fine 421 batting average 2018 okay maybe that's 500 in last year oh okay maybe that's last year yeah Yeah, last year he was awesome. 13 for 26 last year. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Yes, I know he has still not gotten his pinstripes. And he won't this year if he doesn't play. So he just had. Or what if the Yankees win the World Series without Aaron Judge? Does Aaron Judge get his pinstripes?
2:50:35Big Cat:No, that's the funniest possible outcome.
2:50:37PFT Commenter:Yeah, but it also like you'd have to give him pinstripes for being like, thanks for sitting out knowing that we're better without you, like Hank said. I think like horizontal pinstripes.
2:50:44Big Cat:Yeah. all right three long ones i have a question on how i should handle myself as the first and only female working in a city's public service department blue collar job 26 men and myself road work garbage service and parks maintenance i can joke and bust balls like the guys i don't get offended until you talk about my work 90 of the guys are great 10 of the guys have no use for me now i want to go and just tell those douchebags off but i don't want to go to their level what are some things i could or should do to basically tell them to fuck off and worry about their lazy sorry asses i'm not sure if this is what you want but love y 'all guys you make me laugh a lot that's a serious question i feel like that's a almost a better question for jerry i also call her with
2:51:29PFT Commenter:jerry yeah that was uh i mean it's fair like she you would like busting balls one thing but being like you're bad at your job that would that would piss you off yeah you know um i don't know i think
2:51:41Big Cat:i feel like you have to just it's not fair but do their job better than they can yeah and then they'll get naturally embarrassed show them up yeah be like hey do you need me to help you with
2:51:50PFT Commenter:this yeah oh maybe get maybe do one of those uh you know those like weird challenges where um a woman a woman can do it but a man can't like lifting up a chair to their chest because we just have different hip muscles do one of those make them look really really weak i think it's like when you put your head on a a wall and then you lift the chair to your yeah you can't do that
2:52:14Big Cat:you can't you can't get on your hands and knees and then take your hands away and put your head on the ground yeah and keeping your hands off the ground lift your head up do one of those embarrass the boys yeah or like what's another one of those challenges uh ask for directions somewhere
2:52:30PFT Commenter:Oh, also you could just say if one of them gets upset about something, just be like, what are you on your period?
2:52:37Big Cat:That always plays. Yeah, that'll be a good one. Yeah. Fight fire with fire. My boyfriend recently got a job coaching the JV football team in his old high school. I was excited for him, but now it has consumed his life. Every moment of the day, even at work and especially at home, he's watching film on 13, 14 year olds playing football. He came and hold regular conversations in public without bringing up how he coaches a JV football team. How do I go about this? I mean, this guy rocks. Yeah, what's the problem? This guy, this is a football guy.
2:53:06PFT Commenter:It sounds like you're just not ready to be a football wife. It sounds like she's not a football guy. Like, hey, listen, you might have to move towns. That's just part of the job.
2:53:14Big Cat:But then he might like really, really.
2:53:16PFT Commenter:Yeah. You mean like pack up? Yeah. Yeah. Get the kids out of school. No, I'm saying, yeah, like you might, he might get a better job. Here's what you got to do. You got to be the football coach at home while he's a football coach for these 13 and 14 year old boys. Get a whistle. You got to call the plays at home.
2:53:32Big Cat:Yeah. Say, hey, dinner. 6.30 p.m. sharp. You're the boss. And if you're late, if you're five minutes early, you're actually 10 minutes late. Yeah, just let them have fun.
2:53:42PFT Commenter:Sounds like a good hobby.
2:53:43Big Cat:It sounds like there's a lot of women out there that I think would love for their husbands to be passionate and have a hobby that takes them out of the house every now and again. Makes them excited. Yeah. My fiance and his friends keep planning yearly trips to Key West, Florida during the Masters weekend. While they're there, they like to go see this band called the Dirtbags, D-U-R-T-B-A-G-S, who apparently play every night and take requests. Now, my fiance is trying to convince me to get the Dirtbags to our wedding, whatever the cost. Yeah. I'm not sure they will match the vibes for all our guests, but he seems dead set that this will make our wedding.
2:54:17What are my options for persuading him to go with a traditional DJ or band and leaving the Dirtbags in Key West?
2:54:24PFT Commenter:Live bands are awesome at weddings. And this sounds like... But like flying in a... It sounds like just like a cover band at a bar.
2:54:32Big Cat:Yeah, but the dirtbags have a special place in their heart. Yeah. Just his heart. He takes requests, though. The dirtbags take requests. Yeah. So you can play anything. It's funny that... This sounds like a guy that said, this is the one thing that he'll work on at the wedding. Yeah. Like he's going to dedicate as much time as you are to like every other tiny detail with like what kind of chairs you're going to get, what kind of flowers. He's like, I'll handle the live music, honey. and he just has one band in his mind. Because he got drunk like three years ago and had an incredible time at this bar.
2:55:02Him and the boys love the dirtbags. And he's like, oh, the boys will love this. Yeah. But she's like, I've never fucking seen this band.
2:55:10Big Cat:I'm looking at the dirtbags. They're cool. Do you think that they have like an alter ego for formal occasions for weddings? One of them has a mohawk. Or maybe it's not dirtbags. Yeah.
2:55:19PFT Commenter:Yeah, change your band name to something else. The Wedding Band. The Wedding Dirtbags. the soul of Kiwa. I love these guys. Yeah, you got to have the dirtbags. I'm sold. Maybe. That's a perfect band for your wedding.
2:55:34Big Cat:Yeah. I like that their font is the Beatles font, except it's the dirtbags. Oh, they perform at Dirty Harry's, D-U-R-T-Y Harry's. So they're the in-house band.
2:55:45PFT Commenter:Love that. At Dirty Harry's.
2:55:46Big Cat:Maybe if they're listening to us right now, we can work out some sort of discount. Yeah. In addition for one more promotion on part of my take.
2:55:54PFT Commenter:Mm-hmm.
2:55:55Big Cat:Dirtbags, go play this guy's wedding.
2:55:58PFT Commenter:All right, numbers. Three. One. Eight. Oh, the boys. Hank? I'm waiting for Hank. I'm waiting for Hank.
2:56:11Big Cat:Why are you waiting for me? 69. Oh, poor Cole. Memes?

2:57:29PFT Commenter:Peyton Manning for sure It's 100 % Peyton Manning 88 88 Steve Finer
2:57:36Big Cat:I've been picking 88 I've been picking 88 almost like every day Yeah maybe you should have picked it I should have picked it today Maybe you shouldn't have tried to steal Colton's number Yeah maybe you shouldn't try that Have you ever thought about that? Yeah that's karma Have you ever thought about it? How bad did you think about that? I'm thinking about that right now And you make a great point Shouldn't have done it My bad Happy birthday to John Harbaugh Happy birthday to Marty Schottenheimer Happy birthday to Marvin Lewis Chris Johnson Happy birthday to Joba Chamberlain Jason Alexander Julius Caesar Kubla Khan William Wallace Historically very important birthday today It's crazy Also, happy birthday to Vontaze Perfect, Mean Joe Green, Eddie George, Hunter Strickland, Raphael Palmeiro, Ayatollah Khomeini, RIP, maybe not RIP, and Jim Henson and Big Ev.
