In short

Arsenal’s “anti-football” style and set-piece dominance (especially corner goals), Chelsea’s discipline/red-card problems, Premier League refereeing/VAR inconsistency around corners and fouls, plus debates on title mentality (Arsenal vs Man City), Tottenham’s defensive collapse and managerial panic, Newcastle’s struggles under Eddie Howe, and a Manchester United vs Crystal Palace discussion (LaCroix goal, and a VAR/penalty/red-card controversy).

Guests

Lewis Bowden (Arsenal-focused analysis; discusses Arsenal-Chelsea match incidents, set-piece tactics, and title mentality). Oli Thomas (co-host; Arsenal fan jokes, joins match/tactical debates). Additional voices appear as co-panelists (including a Newcastle supporter and a Palace/Man United perspective), but only Lewis Bowden and Oli Thomas are named in the transcript.

Key claims

  • Arsenal are “horrible to watch” as a neutral, but results are coming; they’ve turned pragmatic.
  • Corner goals are tedious “pile-on” delivery rather than skill; referees can’t police corner holding.
  • Chelsea’s red cards are chronic (Neto’s sending off cited; “ninth red” mentioned).
  • Tottenham’s defending is “schoolboy,” with gaps and pinball defending; Ange’s sacking and interim/managerial instability are criticized.
  • Newcastle’s issues are partly self-inflicted (winging Joelinton, transfer window failures, injuries/depth strain) despite cup runs.
  • Man United decisions: Lacroix/Kunja incident argued as a red card and/or penalty; VAR consistency at Old Trafford is questioned.

Notable examples

Arsenal 2-1 Chelsea; Declan Rice hand/VAR leading to an immediate corner goal; Neto red card; Tottenham 2-1 loss at Fulham; Newcastle’s Everton collapse and Joelinton wing use; Man United’s LaCroix header and the Lacroix vs Kunja VAR incident.

0:57Lewis Bowden:Arsenal. That took, what, like 20 seconds for the Arsenal fan joke?

1:01Theo:Yeah. So predictable. We'll kick off with Arsenal, though. We watched it. We streamed it on the weekend. Arsenal 2, Chelsea 1. Unfortunately, yeah. Cheat your way to the Tottenham. Unfortunately, I had to watch it, yeah. Explain the cheating aspect, Lewis Bowden. Well, you spent five years crying and blaming refs for why you haven't won the league, and now you get every single decision you're aware. Which decision do you think went... Well, we can do it back to Tottenham, then gifting you the win there, and then this game again, the penalty... We will get into Tottenham, because there's no consistency there.

1:27Theo:I didn't realise we were able to put people in the guillotine on corners. People do that the whole time. That doesn't make it okay. Yeah, but at least they're consistent with it.

1:34Lewis Bowden:No, they're not, though. They are. Also, Justice was served immediately after. I'm like the punch in the head. Is Ja Pedro's a little right, so it's fine. I think that's what they said on VAR.

1:43Theo:Yeah. Three corner goals scored. Obviously, Justice was set and served because the argument that you're talking about, a.k.a. the Declan Rice, where it hit his hand and strangled him. Was it Chalaba? Saro? No, it was. I can't remember who it was on, but they scored the immediate corner after in Capien goal. Yeah. What is the current state of football looking like? Terrible. Three corner goals.

2:07Lewis Bowden:Nah, it's not. In fairness, people do overreact with all this, but in terms of Arsenal, yeah, they are fucking horrible to watch. But bottom line is, if you're an Arsenal fan, you shouldn't care because it's getting your results. As a neutral, it is stinking. Did you see that? I thought there was a highlight of a Drogba goal against Arsenal. was going around this week when he scored at the Emirates, you know, he like volleys it in off the bar on the coast. And the commentator says, it's the same old story. Arsenal play the football, Chelsea score the goal. Yeah. It's like, oh, this is just what Chelsea do.

2:38They're so bloke. And I'm like, it's quite funny how that is. Yeah, mate,

2:41Lewis Bowden:Arsenal have completely turned it on its head, but it's, it's the, it's, it's the way they play the way, like we used to play under Pulis in the sense of, you're just like, I don't know, I don't know how to describe it, but I feel like the team who are top of the league shouldn't have to resort to this.

3:02Theo:It's a shame when you take the best players in the league and you make them play like that. Yeah. Like you had to do that because you didn't have quality. When you have the best players in the league and you're forcing them to play that, yes, it makes sense you would win games, but it's like, fucking hell. That is not 100 % frequency rate, though. We do play well in... Sometimes. In the bigger games, we are just pragmatic, though. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing if you're trying to win a league. Yeah, no, yeah. I'm just speaking as a neutral. Neil said he turned the corner from the performance.

3:29Theo:Who was it against the FA Cup? Why don't you play like that every week? The League One side. Wigan. Suddenly that stopped when you start playing. But we did say we'd go into it treating it like a big game. And unfortunately, that's how we played. We played defence first and then... But that's my issue.

3:43Lewis Bowden:Chelsea were weak yesterday in terms of players they had out. You were full strength at home. Again, yeah. Oh, we still won the game. Yeah, whatever. Chelsea were the better team. And until they got the red card, probably we're going to get something out of the game.

3:57Theo:I find that interesting, you know, the two narratives that people have pushed all season, that was a perfect example of what happens for both clubs. Chelsea's disciplinary issue, getting reds, and then Arsenal scoring set pieces. Chelsea are so dumb, mate. It's actually infuriating.

4:13Lewis Bowden:Neto killed them yesterday. He killed them.

4:15Theo:I don't think he, from when I watched it back, I don't think he realised he had the first yellow,

4:19Lewis Bowden:did he? No, he did. I've seen the clip. He did. He'll be lying. That's why he lost his age because he was embarrassed through saying that. But what was he going

4:24Theo:to the fourth official were going...

4:26Lewis Bowden:He was moaning about the first one. Moaning about the first one, not necessarily... Why was he doing that to Martinelli running down the left? He thought it wasn't

4:32Theo:a yellow, by the way. Can we go back? I'll just bias... I just crapped to him. He was biased, the most nailed on yellow ever. Even after that, Red, he was only a 35 % possession, went on to dominate and control the game. Sorry, you've researched that to stew your agenda. No, it's under pressure. Okay, right.

4:47Lewis Bowden:All he had to do was just track him down the line. And Martinelli would have good with that for a goal.

4:51Theo:Yeah, just stand up. Why is it an issue at Chelsea That they keep getting red cards Is it just because Their personnel are youth Oh it's got to be

5:00Lewis Bowden:I think now it's got to be An age thing of just And I think in that game They're amped up You just need a settling head There for Chelsea Because Chelsea Chelsea were the better team At that point In my opinion We're almost in control I kind of do concede that Yeah I do think Was that their ninth It didn't need to happen Their ninth red card This season They went like

5:20Theo:Ten games with Al And then had two at Prem but when Rossini came in they went like 10 gives or anything and then it's the last two where they picked up reds so he said himself he thought they fixed it if you're him you'd be screwed up it's another solo pint

5:32Lewis Bowden:Neto was crap as well yesterday he's crap and then did that Palmer was terrible Palmer was terrible he's just not he needs a break or just to get fit because he's not right is he that is now the most

5:47Theo:corner goals joint record now right again with West Brom 16-17 and then and who else West Brom 16-17 you're joined with Oldham in 1993 we were literally

5:59Lewis Bowden:the land of the giants that was our whole game plan and Oldham that sums you up I will say though that the state of the Premier

6:05Theo:that sums Arsenal yeah but it's also there's a shift in the Premier League now generally because Liverpool have the most cornered slash set piece goals in 2026 so it means that a lot of other teams are looking to try and do that because it's just part of the game

6:17Lewis Bowden:yeah because it's natural when the best team in the league is successful it's copy and paste But what annoys me is Or frustrates me I actually don't mind set-piece goals Or whatever There's no skill to them Everyone just crowds the goalie Lumps it in To me that's just like You might as well flip a coin There's no like plays You used to do like little plays Arsenal like the set-piece Now you just fucking load on the goalie Just whip it in It's like oh great That's shit To me that's so shit to watch is it is it more than a coincidence

6:54Theo:then if that's happening regularly every team does it now every corner now is exactly the same I get that but the point I'm trying to flip on you is you've said there that there's no skill to it but we consistently do them everyone does it though yeah but not to the degree that we can do it no yeah you're the best

7:12Lewis Bowden:you're the best at doing it yeah but to me

7:14Theo:is that not a skill do you think there's much skill

7:16Lewis Bowden:in just putting massive blokes on the goalkeeper and whipping a ball in front post

7:20Theo:I think there's skill in the delivery Yeah, the delivery is spot on every time. I actually think, actually on the delivery, I kind of disagree a little bit because it's not like where you had these old players. You were aiming for a more specific reason. You need to get it in this area, whip it in hard and fast. No, I think it's hard. Not every team has a player to do that.

7:41Lewis Bowden:Yeah, they don't. In my opinion, right, if you're a Premier League footballer and you can't consistently put a ball in like Rhys James did for the Chelsea goal you shouldn't be playing in the Premier League that is not a difficult cross

7:54Theo:I agree I agree like we have we swapped in our game with shit but like we have four different people who are taking turns and just whipping it in with piss I mean at least sometimes we don't beat the first man but like whereas before you were playing it into a specific region where this person's going to match and run onto it you have all these stagnant targets here

8:10Lewis Bowden:you have like eight people or sometimes you do front post or back post or middle or deep or long but now it's just the same one

8:17Theo:every time

8:17Lewis Bowden:the thing is if you're only You're under here.

8:19Theo:Are you under here? There's people there. There's a bigger margin. You can tell that the repetition is like, nobody really cares about it anymore because there's no Nicholas Jova camera either. Yeah, I would. I do not really talk that one, guys. I do think you're right there. Because that's the only thing that you're doing, you're going to naturally get better at that specific delivery because you're not doing all these different plays. I find it, oh yeah, it's just a... If it's not that hard, Tom and Lewis, why isn't every team in the Premier League doing it at the same level no no but score on the amount of goals

Read the full transcript

8:54Lewis Bowden:because Arsenal have got the best Gabriel's the best in the league they've got Saliba and Gabriel are man-mounted don't get me wrong Charles got like six goals for us he's like our third

9:03Theo:top goal scorer

9:04Lewis Bowden:don't get me wrong you've got Van Dijk and that but no one's as aggressive and as big as Gabriel in terms of attacking the ball and yeah Deca and Royce is probably the best delivery taker in the league so of course but everyone everyone is gaining even Albion are doing it like there's teams in our everyone in our league is doing it as well like it's just every time there's a set piece it's just the same shit it's so fucking tedious I find

9:31Theo:I do think there's openings now for people to like we've done it a few times where whilst everyone's crowded up here we played a ball I've managed to work it to the edge where like Tonali can have a strike of it so like there are I do think people will start does he strike it? he does strike it well he struck it and then I don't think that should be detrimental though like weaponising something that happens so regularly in a football match it's part of football I just think the problem is there's like eared fouls happening at the same time it's like well what is this at this point like how are we going to have to police it with that though like everyone does that's why like no one really complained yesterday from the Chelsea team when whoever it was was getting wrapped around I don't think they saw it but like because everyone is doing it constantly but that can't be how corners are because it's never been it's always you've always had a bit of that but this is literally everyone going in there and it's just a fucking pile on and they can't police it because it's like, well, he's doing it there, he's doing it there.

10:19Lewis Bowden:You could stop it all tomorrow if you said as soon as the corner taker puts the ball down, the ball's in play. And it would stop like that because I'm sick of referees warning players. Yellow? Yes. I'm sorry. Any other colours? No, no, no. Tell you what, if you're a centre-half and you're holding someone like, it's just a penalty, it would stop it tomorrow.

10:41Theo:VAR's going to be more proactive with that sort of next year, isn't it?

10:44Lewis Bowden:The ref doesn't even watch the corner take it watches them he stands there watches them Declan Rice puts his hand up and then he goes oh hang on stop lads can you stop holding each other give the foul it would eradicate it tomorrow I promise you but no they want to give them it's like Louis said yesterday when someone's going through the ref doesn't blow his whistle and go by the way if you fouling me you're going to get sent off so don't do that yeah it fucking

11:08Theo:annoys me so much that is stupid they don't do that it's actually this whole like set piece debacle is going to get worse as well next year because they're going to go upstairs to see if everything's a corner or a goal kick again, aren't they? Oh, no, they're starting all the stupid countdowns. We're going to have timers. You have to kick the fuck off. I think the time is not a bad thing because they do take the pitch. There's going to be a time limit now between how long you have to take a corner. Oh, yeah, that's good. Because they do take the pitch. I worry where the premise, and it sounds good, but everything sounds good and once we implement it, there's loads of stupid shit and it's going to be like, well, that was longer than that.

11:42Theo:Why didn't he set the time? Because the referee controls when you set the timer off. I still think it's worth doing.

11:49Lewis Bowden:I think you're being a bit... It's not a bad age. Just to turn something into...

11:55Theo:We'll go like a different positive angle. I remember Jamie Carragher doing a little piece on Donnarumma versus Raya and saying that the reason why City could potentially win the title here is because you need a world-class keeper. But in games like this, Raya's putting forward his name as being... Raya's world-class. No, but that's what I'm saying. I feel like he's being disrespected a little bit. Yeah. Because he's pulling us through these games. I also think Donnarumma is a bit overrated by neutral fans. I don't think City fans are that big on him, generally. It's because he... He has big moments.

12:26So neutral goes, wow, he's amazing. But they're like, actually, he's not great. He flaps it a lot. He flaps it a lot.

12:31Lewis Bowden:He flaps it a lot. He did one against Leeds, like two in the second half. Raya's the more rounded goalie. But I think Carragher's point was, because when he said that on Monday Night Football, he had the stats up, didn't he, of how many... Goals prevented.

12:46Theo:Goals prevented.

12:47Lewis Bowden:But also, I think Donnarumma faces more shots, or has done, than Raya.

12:50Theo:I think that's true, yeah.

12:51Lewis Bowden:So I think that's a bit inflated.

12:53Theo:What I was saying about Raya to you yesterday is, like, genuinely, I was saying to Reid, like, if you take any player out of that team who would cause the biggest drop-off in points, and he said Raya, but I genuinely think it's Raya, because... I think it could be. That guy on that show at the end, I thought that was it. Watch your TV, I thought that was it. Kepa's already died, but he's miles away on the floor.

13:09Lewis Bowden:No.

13:10Theo:He is. Should we move across to Man City?

13:13Lewis Bowden:Yeah. Yeah, getting it done.

13:15Theo:Yeah, I'm actually a little bit disappointed because I thought Leeds probably deserved something. And I know I'm saying that as an Arsenal fan, but watching that game, I was like, how have they not just put the ball in the back of the net?

13:27Lewis Bowden:I understand your point, but I must admit, watching it, I never thought City were going to throw it away. I do feel like with Gay and Diaz now, they're just so solid. He's good, isn't he?

13:40Theo:Could be one of the best fans of January. but the reason why I'm saying that is because Leeds built so much pressure up in the first 5-10 minutes of both halves they just couldn't capitalise on that is that a golfing class or is it just like just City are good at it when teams are on when teams are having their moments they're so good at just let them have that moment but you're not going to get anything like they did it to us

14:03Lewis Bowden:for a whole half it's like they're so good they soak it up so well they know how to kill games off as well and in terms of not even by scoring they can just they can just keep the ball for two minutes in a crucial spell. They're so good at that. They'll tear this thing out of Ellen Road. That's a good like comparison with Arsenal is like Arsenal I think are so obsessed with controlling the whole game. You don't have to. Yeah whereas City no you don't have to. You can let them sacrifice because then things will open up for you and you can prioritise different points. Which is why City are so much better to watch because there is that jeopardy at times or at least it looks like jeopardy.

14:34Lewis Bowden:Yeah yeah. I really like the City team. I think they're the most fun City team in a really long time. Semenya is ridiculous. Because they're like a bit imperfect. They're not... Sometimes when I used to watch like De Bruyne and Silva, et cetera, you're just like, oh, they're just recycling the ball and they're going to win 3-0. Whereas it feels like they could concede at any moment. I did see something yesterday, oh no, sorry, this morning about touches yesterday and I think like Rodri had a hundred and something. Passes or touches, I'm not sure. And it was like treble the amount of all Arsenal players and it's just like...

15:03Lewis Bowden:From the games on the weekend? Again, I've probably butchered those stats but I just thought... Or throughout the season. No, it was just from the weekend.

15:10Theo:Okay, yeah. I don't know. I think... Leeds, again, another good game. Darlow had a really good game, to be honest. Come home, Carl. Unfortunately, Semenya is a difference maker, though, isn't he?

15:23Lewis Bowden:Their January signings have really helped them kick on massively. City love Gahey. I've seen their fans.

15:30Theo:Do we know if Ireland's out for a little while? I mean... No one knows. Pep didn't really let on how long the injury could be. like he could be back for Forrest or he could be out for another three or four weeks well I need to know if my feel that's exactly my point like Pep if you're watching this please press conference on Tuesday

15:48Lewis Bowden:yeah because he confirmed O 'Reilly's but he won't say anything about Haaland he's said he's unsure it's a little injury so he's probably only going to miss Forrest and it's not his knee I read yeah so do with that what you will I feel more more someone asked if it was a knee he said no

16:06Theo:very specific I feel more more confident though that these are going to do it. I just feel like they're just going to grind it out. I really do think

16:14Lewis Bowden:the closer it's just going to come down to that game at the Etihad. That's why you know what Arsenal are going to do.

16:21Theo:Yeah, but is a draw enough to win the Premier League at that point? Probably. I can't really see you dropping points. But that's what I mean. The fact that Arsenal will take a draw and the draw is not an option for City makes me feel like... You'd take that as a Newcastle fan. No, but that's what I mean. I'm saying that mentality for Mantees. There's no other option for us. We have to go win it. I think that's why they will win it. I actually think Arsenal are going to be There's not all the second thought in the head. Do you? I do. I think it's worth Arsenal going. Because if Arsenal win that, we've always said this though.

16:49We've said this every time. But that's not been the case. It's not been the case before though. It's like when there was like no, no, a few years ago like probably was worth Arsenal doing that. Whereas that is like, I think it's worth the risk.

16:59Theo:I think it's always been the reason why they don't win the league. I'm getting very irate about it. It's always been why

17:09Theo:man.

17:09Lewis Bowden:If Arsenal, you didn't batter him at the Etihad, did you? No, it's too hard. So you're obviously five points clear at the minute, but they've got a game in hand. If we get to that game and you're two or three points ahead still, you will settle for a draw. One million percent. If it's, the only way Arsenal go there to try and win is if it's level on points or they're behind. Yeah. There's no way Arteta will do that. He's just, that's why he's never, ever done it. He's not certainly going to do it now.

17:38Theo:I'm not under the impression that we wouldn't not do that because I've seen how we turn up in big games. It's always defense first and pragmatism. Surely you're like, right, this time actually, it's not worth it. I really don't care as long as it gets across the line. It's not a case. If we go and get a draw there, I go, fucking hell. We're still ahead. Fair play. I know, but I get big games. But the thing is, you've done that before and then you don't win it. So surely this time, it's like, do you know what, this time, let's just actually take a risk because it's all this sort of pragmatic stuff hasn't worked for three seasons.

18:10Theo:So why don't we go there and say, do you know what, fuck them. Because they think that you're going to come for a draw. Surprise them. In big games, it has worked. Yeah. I think it has worked. The problem is the game against the smaller team. I think this season has kind of been the opposite. Like big games this season, I don't think I've sort of played very well at all. But like most of the time it has, the issue hasn't been going to Etihad and draw. Has it worked? Has it worked? Has it worked? Has it worked? Has it worked because they have never won the league? You can look at that individual result, but I think that speaks wider to the, like you say, the mentality for the season.

18:42Lewis Bowden:The season where they went there and drew 0-0, if they'd have won that game, they win the league. You have to realise it's a six-pointer for them. I agree, but how many... Man City don't offer go to the Emirates and win. They didn't win there in 23-24. But rightfully so, we look at them differently. City have got nothing to prove. No, I know. I think if you're relying on going to your title rivals away and winning, then you've got a bigger problem in the context of your season. No, but it's more the mentality of, it's like Arsenal did it back in the day at Old Trafford twice. Like they went there and won.

19:13Lewis Bowden:Yeah. And it won them. Statement? Yeah, I get that. It is a change of mentality.

19:17Theo:I know where you, I get the point you're making, but when you look at... I love this stat. Why is this about, why is this... It's hilarious because this stat actually proves statistically that you're bottle jobs. It's like amazing. Why? Because we perform well against Big Six and we're bottling against the Small Six. I thought this was the statistic where you're like, Since 21-22, we lead the points tally of competing against Big Six teams. We aren't 85 points against Big Six. I know, but the context is sort of everything, isn't it? Like, in the context of the season. But that just shows that we are good against Big Six.

19:49Theo:No, but that cuts out a lot of context. Is that right? Look at the XG, by the way. That's really boring. But the XG difference between Arsenal, Man City, on the XG4 and XG, that's mental. Yeah, 17. It's so close, all of Arsenal. Context is everything. And like, we're on about the standing of this actual game. Like, statistically, if you get a draw, then that's going to serve this well. But like, it's bigger than that on the individual basis sometimes, isn't it? For the particular game, yeah. But I mean, just historically, like, it's implied that we know what we're doing against big people. A little, I'm going to interrupt very quickly for a good reason.

20:22Coming from Tottenham Hotspur. They've sacked him. He has warned he could be sacked in as little as three weeks. I'm not surprised. this is coming through at TalkSport on thin ice. Igor Trudeau won. He could be sacked as Tottenham manager after less than three weeks as back-to-back defeats pile on the person. Let's focus on Tottenham now then, lads. 2-1 loss at Fulham. They might have actually got worse. I agree.

20:47Theo:I actually agree. Did Ange actually overperform? It's my question. They did get robbed yesterday, though. That was a foul on Dragos. Yeah, we'll go back to it. The consistency we had with the Gabriel-Colomawani incident, that should be given as a foul It's all over the place it is generally all over

21:04Lewis Bowden:So I watched it I watched it back last night and I was in disbelief at the way Tottenham defend they are all like literally all over the place the ball goes wide obviously the fullback will press in and the gap between their fullback and centre halves who are literally stood next to each other I'm watching it I'm like what the fuck then I remember the ball coming to I can't remember it come on the back post. Gray goes out. Dragerson, he's not even looking at the ball as the header comes back in. There's a pinball. They're all just stood there watching. Drops to Tete, I think it is. He should have scored.

21:41Lewis Bowden:Then, I know that the first goal, yeah, in fairness, it is a push. Completely. Yeah. But even the response to it, it's like, it's like a pinball machine. And the gaps and the lack of, like, structure is fucking...

21:54Theo:It's like that against Arsenal too. It's crazy.

21:56Lewis Bowden:If I was a Spurs fan there at that game yesterday, I'd be pulling my hair out. how can professional top level players be that with the personnel they have as well it's literally schoolboy defending and Vicario oh my god he is a pro clips keeper man he is a fucking pro clips keeper I was scrolling Twitter last night I must have seen four clips of him just kicking the ball out that clip where they get a free kick in their own half and he like shoos a centre back away and he just launches it out I was like I could imagine being in the away end and your goal could do that and just being like

22:28Theo:oh my god He's done it again. Stay up for the final corner. Final corner, chance to salvage a point. Goes up for the corner. Then they're going to put the cross back in and he's legging it back to the goal. Fucking stay up. Yeah, what was the point of going on? Maybe you see Palina as well. Like, look, the ball's bouncing to him and he just, no one's pressing it and he just sprints and slides into it

22:49Lewis Bowden:and smacks it away. What the fuck's he doing? They're like, their only saving grace is the teams below him can't win. I think they're going down. They've got a bit of like, Forrest and West Ham, I think, have a bit of fight. I worry the Spurs just don't.

23:03Theo:Forrest plays Spurs, right,

23:04Lewis Bowden:before the end of the season. I've said for quite a while, Spurs remind me of us, like, we should be too good to go down. Everyone keeps telling me, oh, well, you're better than Oxford. We're not though. We might have better individuals. But also, the way I compare it is, do you know, a lot of that Spurs team, pretty much, if they go down, they'll just get another move somewhere. Yeah, exactly. A lot of the West Ham players, or Forest players are fighting for their Premier League contracts, really. And that's similar to what we're experiencing at the minute. Like, Oxford, their players are fucking...

23:35Lewis Bowden:I knew we'd lose the weekend because they're fucking fighting for a career, really, for another contract in the Championship. Our players will go, oh, we'll just move to fucking Sheffield United in the summer. They don't give a fuck. And it comes across so much with Spurs that there's just a lack of... Dog. No, yeah. Do you know, like... Yes. When I watch Spurs, and I'm a bit like it with Albin. Sometimes I just wish someone would just get sent off. Like, just show you actually, like, care a little bit. Just kick someone that really are.

24:04Theo:It's the safety net of all the individuals knowing that they're probably primarily quality, right? So that there's no, like, real threat. Not all of them are out. That's what I mean. Yeah. Also, one thing that has really surprised me is how bad Corner Gallagher has been because one thing you can normally guarantee with Gallagher is that he'll just charge around.

24:20Lewis Bowden:Which is what he was like for us in year. But they're saying, like, he doesn't even do that. He's just like, is he on 200k as well? Are you serious? I hope he's got a relegation clause in his contract. I don't think many will, though. Generally, like, I can't remember what we were saying. I'm going to join Spurs. Oh, actually, if we go down, I'll finish him. Exactly. This is why I think they're in, I think this is why, again, they're like us. I think we're similar. If we go down, we're so fucked that we're panicking, keep having to sack managers and just trying anything. And now it's becoming just desperate.

24:50Lewis Bowden:Yeah. So there's no, there's no, you tell them, if they sack him now, what does that say about the way the club's being run like there's no planning place there that's fucking bizarre

25:02Theo:I can't remember what he was saying because we were talking about this like a couple weeks ago before the Arsenal game and you who's used to who are in favour of them staying up I still think they'll stay up I think they'll stay up are you starting to waver on that opinion a bit what you've just said and what you just said there as well I completely agree with like and as I say there's zero momentum it's even worse now if this manager goes then it's like what the fuck's even going on and the other teams like you say West Ham are more momentum Forest are a better team in my opinion than who? than Spurs Forest bad Spurs so you know what I mean I genuinely think look I say I want Tottenham to go down it's not because I don't like Tottenham I just think it'll be like mental it does feel like they are being a little bit front footed about the sacking though it's like it's panic stations that's why yeah but at least they know that like alright we can't fucking go down because the last time they were in the second division was what, 97, 98?

25:55Theo:What are you going to do? Like, there's no transfer window now. No, 77, 78. 77, 78, sorry, that's what I meant. Lads, I just want to ask a question. So the next five in March, Palace at home, Atletico away, I think they'll beat Palace. Liverpool away, Madrid at home, Atletico at home, Forest at home. Forest at home. Do they... So big. So they've got Atletico Madrid after Palace and before Forest. Do they just sack off the Champions League or do you think there's too much money involved for them? They could be atletico Madrid. Yeah, they have to do that in the opposite of last year. Do they have to focus?

26:24I honestly don't like.

26:25Theo:Do you think they would take... It's a real first conundrum. Do you think they would take winning the Champions League and getting relegated? Yes. One million percent. Oh, everyone has to take that. We've actually asked that question. Who wouldn't take that? Give me that deal. I think they would take that as well.

26:36Lewis Bowden:Who the fuck would... Unless you're Man United or Liverpool. You're taking that. Yeah, it's like,

26:41Theo:you can't make fun of me. I've won the Champions League, man. That would be so funny. By the way, they win the Champions League and half the players would just leave. I'm going to tie that to have a class tag. I'm going to tie that to have a class tag. I'm actually moving, guys. I'm so sorry.

26:56Lewis Bowden:Goodbye, Torval. But in terms of Spurs, though, what do you think? They go for a dice, maybe. No, but... Do you see them? Levy's gone, which apparently was one of the main issues. Ange's gone, and now Frank's... And it's getting worse. Yeah, it is. Ange was disrespected. What do they do managerial-wise?

27:17Theo:I don't know. I don't know. They go dice into him or something like that. If they're this panic stations, you have to go someone Dice has just been sacked by Forrest yeah Dice at Forrest actually had a good record like he shouldn't have been sacked in terms of win percentage yeah he was actually bringing in more points that was inflated by the Europa League massively yeah well who else do they get on such a short note if we knew the answer mate we wouldn't be on the why is it why is it now that managers are obsessed with getting interims in I don't know I feel like this is quite a new thing yeah it's not an over We couldn't possibly hire someone permanent.

27:55Chelsea used to love it.

27:56Theo:They had Avram Grant and Benitez, remember? No, it wasn't really a thing. Yeah, but their managerial treatment wasn't really like... In fairness for Spurs,

28:05Lewis Bowden:I think that is based around managers becoming available in the summer. Yeah, true. I think that's... And Man United, but... Yeah. I think they'll just about have enough to stay up, but... Aye, Mason. On the topic of interim managers, Will Newcastle been in one, Lewis?

28:22Theo:That's a terrible segue. Yeah, we're fucking, we're shitting right now. The boos were ringing out around St James' Park. People were booing Gordon, apparently, but I don't know if that was ever been fun. It's all falling apart. Can I just say, Nick Pope with a good save. So after, there's a few things that we need to address. So after the Brentford game, apparently all the players, you know, they got into the changing rooms and like, Eddie, don't worry, we got this. Oh yeah, we've had this at the Albion. The leadership team all got together and we straightened out and what's what and since then we went on a good run we beat Tottenham who were the only team who were shit of that nose on the form charts in the Premier League bear in mind Wolves have a better record in recent form at the moment Wolves have got a good form for Tottenham we beat Aston Villa we beat Aston Villa when they had 10 men yes we played well for a bit but before that but they had 10 men we lost to City and beat Carabag and barely beat them at home and then we're straight back to a game that's not on telly it's not a big game

29:14Lewis Bowden:I think you're being harsh there because you played well against City the Carabag game was done you did play well against Villa That's my point.

29:20Theo:We played well against City and Villa, two teams who were better than us. As soon as it's a team like fucking Everton, at 3pm, our home, it's absolutely just embarrassing. The fact to twice, two times, to concede a minute after scoring is not... It's crazy. It's fucking naive. It's fucking embarrassing. I'm sorry. I'm not Eddie Howell, no matter what, but the fact that he doesn't understand yet that Joel Linton should not be anywhere near a wing is fucking amazing. amazing you know about beating a man don't put him on the fucking wing that's crazy it's actually it's fucking abysmal and we were talking about which club are the worst run we're not a badly run club but the last few seasons it's been a mess since Stavly left where we've got all these signings who are fucking shit we haven't had a director in football for ages the only one coming good is Ramsey Nick Pope's chucking one in his net every other 10 seconds we took five years to try and finalise the Trafford signing didn't do it because we took too long negotiating over a£1 million fee.

30:19Theo:So now we've been stuck with Pope all year and Ramsdale tucking it in the net. Do you think retrospectively you're way too optimistic for the things that happen? No, because the thing is, like, it's annoying. Like, we can say we have injury problems. We have got injury problems all over, but there's so much stuff that's self-inflicted. You haven't got that many. Yes, we have. Bruno and Livermento, is that it? No, we've missed Whistler the entire season. Oh, man. You said he's dog shit anyway. Livermento out, Hall's been out in state of bits, Bottman's been out all season. What about now? Well, if you look at that Everton game the worst performing positions for us were right back where Trippi is at 35 and I'm having to play every game also Byrne who's not really been at it he's like he shouldn't be starved for us Bottman's out and Pope those actually Chow and Hull actually had good games so it's like yeah but Pope's your number one keeper but that's what I mean when it's self-inflicted we could have had traffic we should have fixed that we had no direct football you're leaving Pau and his brother to sign plays Lewis I know you're very loyal at Eddie Howe but you're only seven points clear of Tottenham yeah it's not Eddie Howe you're below a promoted Sunderland you're one point ahead of a Palace team who are fans of protesting like what what needs to happen now we just go next season it's a it's a it's a season it's not a fucking career man you can't just skip we'll just stimulate that no but like this is the thing like look we're not putting together league form we're struggling with the amount of games we're struggling with a few injuries we fucked ourselves in the transfer window which is the main thing but you can win the Champions League yeah yeah yeah there's only so much stuff that Hal can do it's like people want us to work better around Voltaire with the amount of games that you're playing it's not fucking FIFA where you can just like change tactics overnight there's no time with the players to get them to play a new system like that but is it not the manager's decision to play a left wing at striker and then a number nine at number eight but again he is kind of he's kind of forced like that because who else are we going to put you're having to rest plays he's having to rotate the squad so it's like he doesn't want to he just clearly doesn't trust Volta Marder up front Wiss is not ready to play a full game so it's like Eddie Howell he's just still not fully he got injured again it's the worst signing we've done in a long time did he not play like every minute of his campaign like he was just permanently available massive injury came back didn't do well because he was getting his fitness back got injured again no but the Eddie Howell thing is look it's not a good season we're doing well in the Champions League we can hope for that it's like you go again next year you don't just sack the manager in panic he's like time where Derby's a huge game there's only one point in it now do you think he'll be the manager next year yes 100 % how many of your squad are going to stay Lewis I think we'll lose Livermanto 100 % I think he's definitely gone when Pep Guardiola is determined to get you it's like he's gone isn't he Tonali Bruno Tonali maybe if Italy have a big offer but we won't sell the Premier League the national team of Italy Gimenez Gimrash won't leave.

33:17Theo:It really won't. It really won't. Your record of calling people to go and stay has been horrendously awful. I've been actually quite consistent. I always said Izak would go. It's not that young. I think Gordon. I think Gordon will go. Or he'll want to go. It's Wisser. Luckily, we're actually hopefully in a position where we can actually have a normal transfer window for once.

33:37Lewis Bowden:Mate, you spent so much money in the summer on Sheik. exactly

33:41Theo:no director of football it's a terrible window that's what I mean so it's already saying

33:45Lewis Bowden:oh we can spend yeah but what are you going to spend

33:48Theo:I do hope this time we have to keep the director of football during the transfer window that is a good idea but no like generally what do you think because like when I see this how else stuff how much stuff can you actually blame him on like you can say you can say he has these he's given immense pressure though he's given he's pressured it aside a little bit too easily

34:08Lewis Bowden:I think you cut I think your cup runs are going to be massive. If you can get to maybe a quarter final or a seventh final in the Champions League and similar in the FA Cup, I think, yeah, you go again next year. If you go out in the next round of both competitions and finish like 30, I think they will look out for it. The issue is,

34:30Theo:when you look at the issues of Newcastle...

34:31Lewis Bowden:Because he's such a backward step back. If you don't even get

34:34Theo:in Europa, that's shocking. The thing is, I actually feel bad for him because in that situation, he would be in trouble. But it's like, when you look at the problems, it stemmed from a transfer window where realistically, you can say it's his signings, but he shouldn't be solely put in that. He's been fucked over there a few in his row. The depth and injuries has fucked him. And then like, now he's got these signings that don't really work in a system after he'd expected to keep Izak on his left. So he's sort of been put in such an awful position. And look, he could have definitely done better with it, but it's like...

35:03Theo:That's what I mean. This shit happens, doesn't it? Yeah, but it's shit. It's a lot like... but again there's been good performances we had a good we had a good go in the League Cup again for the third season in a row we got Man City for like every fucking draw we've got we got Man City next in the FA Cup which is annoying but Lewis in fairness

35:21Lewis Bowden:I could flip that round and go Fulham haven't even signed a player in the tournament and then I've ever unsigned Grealish then lost him for the whole season

35:29Theo:yeah but we're playing more games yeah but they lost

35:31Lewis Bowden:Dewsbury Hall for we're playing more games wait wait no it's not Not ever than a Barry and Beto. Our squad isn't deeper than theirs.

35:40Theo:We've been playing Asula. Asula's getting Premier League minutes. Who's better than Beto and Barry? Asula's getting time in the Champions League. I'm sorry, their depth is not better than ours at all. We've been playing golf. No, it's not. Our depth isn't better than theirs at all. Then Everton's. No, it's not. It's not our injuries this year. With the amount of games we're playing and the injuries we've had, it's not better depth. Our depth is nonexistent this year. Are you fucking joking? I'm sorry we've been playing Lewis Miley right back and centre back that's good depth we've been having Azula have an actual minute our striker's playing midfield our other striker who is now a centimetre is now playing out on the left but Everton is playing up front Sheffield United to play on their left wing they make James Garner play every single position on the fucking picture James Garner's going to be playing a goal next and they'll probably still win we went late into every single we're in every you seriously think you have worse depth than them that is insane when Tom Blight McNeil starts Tom, when you put it relative to the amount of games we're playing, because we went into the late stages of the League Cup, we're still in the FA Cup, we're playing all these games in the Champions League, which are increased on the last time we were in the Champions League, we have less depth for the amount of games we're playing.

36:45Theo:It's like, it makes... But it's better then.

36:48Lewis Bowden:I'm not on about the numerical difference. You have better depth than ever. Yes, but they're playing less...

36:54Theo:You'll ignore the fact that they're playing substantially less games, half the amount of games. Yeah, because they're not as good as you. Yeah, so that's relevant to depth, isn't it? No, no, no. His argument was you have better depth. Mainly because you have to play more games. I don't know if you're choosing not to understand the difference of like, yes, we might have statistically more players, but when we're playing double the amount of games. You have better quality in the squad across the board than Everton do. It doesn't matter how many games. Yes, but we're playing more games. Oh my God.

37:25Theo:We're both correct, but it's relevant. You're ignoring the fact that we're playing double the amount of games than them.

37:31Lewis Bowden:you're not playing double the amount I'd say we have played double because they're still in the same competition as you they just got knocked out of them because they're not as good as you so we've then played more games third four season in a row with Europe your score should be equipped for that no but like

37:44Theo:use on about depth let's have a look at the depth we're playing Alex Murphy who's having his first appearances let's have a look at right back so Tino's out Crafter's out Miley's out so who's out only right back a 35 year old Trippier who's playing two to three times they've been playing James Garner James O 'Brien or Jake O 'Brien. They had Bramford out there.

38:05Lewis Bowden:They had Dewsbury all out for ages. They signed Grealish and he's out for the season. The point is, anyway, the point once a week. No, no, no. You didn't even let me finish my point, though. You actually interrupted me. No, the point I was trying to make about Everton is they've had just as much issues as you in terms of injuries and missing players relative to their season, relative to yours. Whereas Moyes has found solutions.

38:28Theo:And how did he find solutions? with the spare time he has on the training field. We're travelling, we're playing games constantly every week. We played double the amount of games they have in the past month, mate. So that's where you find solutions, where you rest the players, where you're on the training field and you can actually come up with solutions.

38:45Lewis Bowden:Okay, I don't even know to get into that because I don't... I mean, I'm not there. That really isn't what I was trying to get. And my point is, your argument sees how it got fucked over in the transfer window and then he had this and he's had this. All teams, Brentford have had that. Brentford gets stripped of their players every year. I mean, they're flying.

39:05Theo:I also said on the other point, but he could still have done better with that. He could have done a lot better, couldn't he? But I feel like,

39:10Lewis Bowden:he should be doing better. But I feel, in the Premier League, Eddie Howe's now a really experienced, top level manager, right? Yeah. You shouldn't be this bad.

39:21Theo:In the Premier League, yes. Yeah. But I feel like, that's what I mean, I feel like it's a conversation about Newcastle. It's like, in the Premier League, we are fucking abysmal and there's huge problems there. But you have to still look at how we're doing in other cup competitions. We're doing really well in those, which is a problem where I think that shows mentality a little bit in the players. But I feel like you can criticise Eddie Howe whilst also granting him a bit of leeway with the situation that we've put in this season. Yeah, but it's like Tom said, if you go out both cup competitions almost immediately, that's really concerning.

39:56Theo:Especially the way we play, mate. At the moment it sounds good but like in three four weeks time you could be in a real situation I feel like it's just like the way we play especially that right back position has fucked us so much our full backs are so essential how we play and then now we have a striker who doesn't fit the whole of how we play either so it's like we're just trying to mend shit without the resources a little bit which is our own fault From one United to another Manchester United They're winning the league We can have a real conversation now because we've got a Palace fan Well we do have a Palace fan shall we talk about well actually we'll talk about Laquois goal amazing header great start to the game was it yeah it was a good header

40:35Lewis Bowden:the goalie should have saved that no it's a good header I think in fact mate it's like the slowest I honestly think it could be the sun I don't think you saw it because if that if that was my goal it would be fuming bring back goalkeepers with hats that is one it's not even a good ball in it's just a floated I don't even think he means it's a flowy ball then Schleer's free and he just like not I reckon we give LeCroix

40:59Theo:the benefit of the doubt I think that's quite good great cross great header

41:02Lewis Bowden:yeah

41:02Theo:sure yeah Brandon Johnson I think it's a talking point of the game though the first United goal it's not a penalty it's not a penalty I will die on that hill it's a red card I think it's a red card if you give the foul it's a red card why is it not a penalty because it starts earlier than so the rule apparently with holding is if it carries on into the box yeah that's bullshit it's a penalty so LeCroix it's got his hand on his shoulder hand on his shoulder and Kunja just carries on running, carries on running. As he gets into the box, Lacroix takes his hand off and then Kunja just throws himself on the floor and it's a penalty.

41:32I was... It was given because it was on the line though, right? Yeah, but if you look at the actual contact while Kunja is on the line or the contact's on the line, it's two fingers of Lacroix on his shoulder. And the main issue I have with that...

41:44Theo:The big guy that could hurt. Yeah, but Kunja's meant to be a fully grown footballer. The issue I have with that is we are never, ever, ever getting that decision out of traffic. Oh, absolutely not. Absolutely never. And this is the thing I have a problem with. A lot of Man Utd fans have been saying, like, oh, no, we've had a few decisions go against us this season. I've got no idea. And I'm like, you don't get it. You'd have to get shot at Old Trafford. It's like, someone, if anything, if anything, Man Utd have been harshly treated at Old Trafford. No, no. Oh, my God. Are you joking? I was quite surprised how long it took for VAR to just be like, still apparently.

42:14I know. Also, like, they'd been throwing themselves around all game. Did you see that clip of Harry Maguire with Strand Larson? Yeah, when he held his head. Yeah, and it's just like, it was just, the thing is, we didn't deserve to win. I think we were First off you were excellent though But United were just terrible I think And we were kind of Sleepwalking second half And you could tell They were going to score But it did just completely Ruin the game

42:33Lewis Bowden:I think With I do agree with you With the Kunio What I'm Confused about Is the double jeopardy

42:44Theo:Dogso though Dogso

42:46Lewis Bowden:So it's If it's A goal scoring opportunity You can send him off then Yeah But I thought it was only Violent conduct because I don't get the rules. You've got to make an honest attempt

42:56Theo:to play the ball. Yeah, there was no chance of him playing the ball, was there? He's pulling him back. It's not even like a tackle. Right, so that's okay,

43:02Lewis Bowden:but then defenders can just jockey, block a player out and let the ball go out. That's not playing the ball. So I don't understand the difference. I saw a clip from Rangers Celtic where I think, I can't remember which, Rangers defender is shielding the ball from the Celtic guy and he's literally going like that, grab his shirt, and I'm like, well, so that's fine. That's always wound me up with defenders being able to do that. I think that is the rule though.

43:21Theo:If you make a genuine attempt, but against Wolves if you just do it carelessly then they send you off against Wolves Wharton the guy's throwing a goal he literally just like flies into the back of it slide tackle but it's like oh well he could have possibly yeah

43:35Lewis Bowden:we spoke about that how Wharton didn't get sent off for that was mental to me but this is when I don't get like that La Croix one to me without actually going into the laws of the game and reading them just watching the Wharton clip and that clip the Wharton one's the red card not the La Croix one just that it's stupid and the refs bought it yeah oh yeah oh Cunha was clever but I mean how good is Bruno Fernandes though again

43:59Theo:massive performance from him solid penalty and then the cross for the Sesco goal is just great header it was a great header a bit annoyed you didn't get him in the end with all this Volta Mada Vista talk yeah I can see why he was our main target Eddie Howell loves a player like that just an athlete

44:16Lewis Bowden:I love goals like that getting across your defender and fucking smashing it in with your head but you know United weren't good for a lot of that game. No, I agree. They weren't. I agree. Their quality got them out of it, I think. On Michael Cutler, is it a bigger gamble for Man United to not give him the job? Do they have to give him it now? Does it unsettle anything? That's a good question. I think they can't... Unless they have, like... They've committed to it now. They've committed to it now, though. They played well against City and against Arsenal, but, like, obviously Spurs got a player sent off early.

44:44We got a player sent off, and we were 1-0 up at the time. They drew away at West Ham. Who did they play last week? Everton. Yeah, and they didn't play brilliantly. No. I think they're getting a bit worse.

44:56Theo:They're probably scared of getting the situation with Oli, isn't it? And it's like, this could be a big refresh a little bit. They're also only playing once a week.

45:04Lewis Bowden:Exactly. And I don't know if... Michael Carrick's never managed a team that's had to cope with Europe. And they're more than likely going to be in the Champions League next season. But do you think he stays on? No. Maybe as a coach, but I think someone will...

45:17Theo:Do you think they already have their eyes on who they're going to appoint?

45:20Lewis Bowden:I'd say so if they haven't then I don't know what they're doing Man United in the Champions League that is such an attractive job for any coach they'll be able to get someone a lot better than Carrick and also who I think Enrique would take that job if he leaves PSG perfect Premier League route of like there's probably there's so much to gain from going to United because they've been so bad last few years when they shouldn't have been or Nagelsmann yeah I think it'll be one of them too although Joe Tomlinson told me the other week he'd rather have Carrick than Nagelsmann what

45:50Theo:going forward

45:50Lewis Bowden:really why? I don't know that is mental I think also in terms of the way the club's been running for them to come out and say this is definitely interim and we're getting someone in the summer to go back against that just because I've had a few good results I think again just undermines the board you wouldn't have put it past them you undermine yourself there because you're going so what what is the plan then because that was the plan now you just suddenly change your mind I think they've got to It should be a process basis rather than an out could be. Is that not like saying we're going to sign this player on loan?

46:24He bangs him 15 goals. You go, actually, he's pretty good.

46:26Lewis Bowden:No, because you sign the player on loan with a view to... They've said all along he's only into him and we're not signed. But if he does really, really well unbeaten, why wouldn't... Yeah, that's the question. You could settle players again, a third manager in a year.

46:40Theo:I don't think they'd unsettle them. If you told them from the start, this is temporary, that's different, isn't it? Yeah. I do agree. like no matter what I feel like like short term there's always possibility for Man United have a big bounce like this and have the momentum but it's like when a new refresh next year like yeah and then Champions League I think they should be smarter about it it's more like risk assessment isn't it they can't afford to go down the wrong path again yeah like financially yeah so it's like we have the risk of like an experienced top level manager to like Carrick you can always go back to Carrick if he goes off somewhere else that would be my logic yeah yeah if it goes horribly wrong at least you know someone that can fill in and continue for the rest of the season Go to Tottenham in the Championship get them up Yeah and then get them back Oh yeah get rid of them now save them now and then have them back later Well obviously Man United are now in third they've just leapfrogged Aston Villa Oh dear Mainly because of your team Wolves with a victory They're flying Tom's perfect hate watch Well

47:42Lewis Bowden:it's a shame both couldn't lose or something happened the funniest thing to happen though I must admit as much as I'd never ever want Wolves to win a part of me did want them to win because they're down anyway so I just wanted playing for spoilers yeah I just wanted Villa to just really really because I'd said to you the week Villa Villa aren't getting Champions League and you all laughed at me

48:00Theo:and Wolves can sit and be like where the reason why do you think it'd be Man United Liverpool

48:04Lewis Bowden:I think Chelsea Liverpool Man United I think it'd be Man United third then Chelsea then Liverpool fifth or Liverpool or Chelsea switched yeah it's close isn't it

48:12Theo:I think Liverpool I think Liverpool maybe just do it with Manchester United. Well, yeah, but we might get fifth. Oh, yeah. Okay, if you mean top five, yeah. If you look at that table, though, I think the one big thing that's a massive concern for Villa is 38 goals. They've scored. Fulham have scored more. Bournemouth have scored more. Newcastle have scored more. What the fuck? We haven't scored in the fuck all. Doesn't Emery do this very often? Like, it happened at Arsenal. It's happened twice now at Villa where they'll start a season amazingly and then they'll just tag at the end of the season.

48:43they've done it a few times a lot of Villa fans

48:45Theo:saying that their midfield is just they have been

48:48Lewis Bowden:fucked with injuries in fairness to them and they've been so again their own fault but they've been so restricted with PSR and stuff I think Kamara and McGinn are such big losses for their players such big loss yeah

49:01Theo:I do find it interesting though how Villa have been winning games and losing in XG and now they finally have more XG than the teams they've been against always comes back to mind mate It balances out.

49:13Lewis Bowden:They were terrible against Brighton. I watched that game. They ended up winning that. They were shit against Leeds, managed to nick a draw. It's been coming, this, for a while.

49:23Theo:Yeah, it wasn't sustainable. Rodgers is not scoring as much as frequently as he has been. Their attacking recruitment has just been pretty terrible. But do you know what?

49:35Lewis Bowden:Sancho hasn't been that bad for him. He's been all right. But you are right. Watkins has been shit as well.

49:41Theo:I don't understand why they don't just utilise Abraham from the start of matches.

49:45Lewis Bowden:Because.

49:46Theo:Are they just doubling down and hoping that Ollie Watkins comes through? They're in a bit of a weird place with Watkins. He's got so much pedigree. And it's also the perfect year for him to kick on and fucking do something. Because he's cementing himself as the second behind Kane for the World Cup.

49:58Lewis Bowden:I think Watkins reminds you of like, when you like max out your player on like a game. I just feel like he can't, he just can't get any better. He just hasn't improved, has he? Not in the last year or so. like when he had to score that goal against Holland in the Euros I thought and he had a great season in the Premier you think he's going to kick on here and be like well he thought he was going to get like the move wasn't it yeah

50:19Theo:that's way gone now I don't know if that's

50:21Lewis Bowden:fucked him mentally or stuff like that I think it could have

50:23Theo:easily because like yeah the idea of moving to Arsenal like he probably knows himself like that was his chance how old is he now 29 is he yeah must be about yeah he's never going to an Arsenal or anyone now I guess that's the problem when you're a team like Villa like unfortunately there is a food chain and like there was that clip of Rodgers where he was like when I'm I mean I might change my number at some point didn't say I'm going to move but like if a player at Villa is good they're just going to want to leave yeah that's just a fact of football unfortunately there is early rumours of Harry Wilson going to Villa to be one of their solutions for the win that checks out doesn't it

50:59Lewis Bowden:that is the most Villa that's over yeah that's such a Villa sign

51:02Theo:should we touch on it would be rude not to congratulate the third no officially the third worst Premier League team of all time. Do one, Derby. I saw that Wolves have taken points this season now. Villa, Arsenal, Spurs and Man United and they only have 13 points. We're massive, man. Very weird. We're not actually... I think we're out the bottom three in 2026 as well. When he's... Does that count?

51:25Lewis Bowden:Imagine Wolves stay up. When he's the parade. We've already had it. I was out of the fire. Fucking hell. If you've got to praise Rob Edwards for what he's done though. Yeah, he's been decent. Well, he's been all right. Let's relax a little bit. I do think the bar was so low that it was only ever going to get a bit better. I think what he's done, what's massive is, Tom, Ollie will realise this as well, it's like when you get relegated and you're dipping, it's a free fall and it's hard to stop. We did it in, when we got relegated in 2012, got relegated at the championship. I think now we've got a little bit of momentum going in the new season.

52:05You get a bit of hope in the championship.

52:06Theo:I think you'll piss the league next season to be honest you'll actually have such a fun year if you have like a good team in the championship sometimes it's class

52:14Lewis Bowden:you're not going to lose many players because they're not that good well I'm they'll be way better than championship but they're all good enough for the championship you've got Armstrong you've got Armstrong and Tolu who are going to score loads of goals you're going to lose Jaume Gomez, Andre fine yeah probably Bueno who's that Hugo Bueno he's playing himself into a move isn't he that's what I mean he's playing himself into a move And other than that, Mane, because I think someone will give you 60, 70 million for you. Other than that, I think you're going to keep your squad. Then you'll have money to spend.

52:43Lewis Bowden:And you've already signed, you've already got the best two strikers in the league already next season.

52:47Theo:Just go have a good time, man.

52:49Lewis Bowden:Honestly, trust me. Cheers, mate. Honestly, one of my best years that was in the championship. And you've got a championship proven manager. Yeah. I do think that one of the best ever seasons I had as a Wolves fan was in League One. 105 points. Yeah, you've scored lots of goals. It's fucking classic. After seven years of, well, four years of free form.

53:08Theo:Yeah, not that you are, but honestly, especially if you're used to being like, pretty shit. I'm not even joking.

53:13Lewis Bowden:I actually think if we go down, we'll go down again. That's how bad it is. Anyway. Anyway, another team struggling, West Ham. Oh no, apparently West Ham are the best team in the league. They're staying up. They're doing good. They're shit. That was a nailed on pump. They've just lost 5-2.

53:29Theo:What's their recent pump? Let's have a look at their last five results. I will say that was a nailed on slaughter though. Of course they're crap. At Anfield. They're always going to get it. But West Ham have played that badly. They're crap. You're really, like, obviously they're crap. They're in a relegation battle, but, like, they're better than the other ones. I mean, the... What? Who's the other ones? Tottenham. They actually are. They are better than Tottenham. If that's the case that you're putting forward, I do agree with that. Look, we can't be calling them crap. They're doing well. They're in a decent room.

53:56Theo:They haven't won in the last three. Yeah, but they're in a relegation. What's the standard? We're in a relegation battle. Two of them have been United in Liverpool. I know the standard's ridiculous that they're holding to West Ham they probably they haven't won in the last three games against they drew against Baltimore terrible result they drew at home they got about 12 points it's not awful the only thing is they have got quite a hard run in now like they've got a lot of games which look tough on paper and also play leads in the final game of the season which is a mega game I quite like West Ham to stay up yeah there I said it well speaking of the really yeah I actually said the volume I don't care I like Thomas Suchet what are you about to say What about Liverpool now?

54:33They're turning things around. Four wins in five. Three set-piece goals, mate. It's disgusting.

54:39Theo:It's ruining football. That's what I'm saying. Why is the narrative different? Because it's fucking Liverpool, mate. They first off, they went 3-0 up of set-pieces. They were fathom. I'm pretty sure they scored them. They're fathom. They just didn't even celebrate. What have we resulted to? I don't recognise these goals. It's nil-nil. So Liverpool, back in December, by the end of December, were actually bottom of the set piece goals table. Yeah, now look at them. And now they're top of it in 2026. Now they're first.

55:07Lewis Bowden:Football is dead. Yeah. Have Arsenal ruined football because everybody else has to copy them? Doggy's dead. They've ruined it. I told you,

55:15Theo:it's a good strategy. You should be using it. No, do you want to piss me off? We have the tallest team in the world and we're trying to use it. We still don't score. Yeah, but who's crushing it in for you? That's the biggest difference. To gnarly who'd Bruno G shoot in. Not to go back to Newcastle, but we had three corners in a row yesterday. not one of them broke the first man they were three different takers all the big didn't beat the first man you mentioned earlier like how you're trying to play all this tactical now short form we scored a goal doing that you got the biggest squad in the Premier League we got a shot we'll just restart the ball we got a shot yeah should we talk about Molder Eketike he's so good I love him cooking again now even without Verts I mean they had a bit of a link up for a period in the middle of the season he's class he's a proper player the French international believes he still has plenty of scope for improvement I agree having missed since recently.

56:01Theo:He's very young. He could be one of the best in the world. Do you think he's a breakout? He'll be better than Isak when he's a breakout player next season. The next season, we see Eketike just explode. I think it depends on Liverpool. Also, Isak is just going to stunt his development. That's exactly what I mean. I think Isak comes back with Eketike starting and that's not even out of hatred. Well, it's out of 10 % hatred, 90 % logic. But like, it's going to be a hard road back for Isak and Eketike is already established and he's literally, he has so much more scope to improve and he's already you've said already established there why is he not already established at Liverpool from the injuries he's had here and he has got big injury problems it's going to be hard for him to get up and running compared to like a younger Ekotiki who's been in the squad has his confidence flying like I genuinely don't think Isak will be the one starting but there's every chance that they do just play the two up top especially if Salah's like or play Ekotiki wide yeah I just think I do think if he's yeah

56:57Lewis Bowden:16 goals

56:58Theo:in his first season

56:59Lewis Bowden:he's gonna play that's just the bottom line don't get me wrong

57:02Theo:I want Izak to play because I love watching him stink it up every week I think there is just favouritism there like you don't buy a player for that amount of money and not just play I agree I agree I think that's what will happen but I don't think that's what should happen I think like the consensus will be Ekotika should just be up front like when you want Izak when is Izak back? he broke his leg did he actually have a beard or was that like just taking the piss like a man there's a picture of him on a leg machine with a beard I don't know if it was He was like out for someone. He just followed everything he'd done.

57:32Theo:No, it just comes up. It'll be next season. Notifications for Isak. Can any team really play like two up front nowadays though? Is that just doable? They're hoping maybe later this month, start of April more realistic. Really? Start of April. Jesus.

57:48Lewis Bowden:That surprises me. Yeah, but the answer to that is yeah. I think we are seeing it come back a little bit more. Palace basically play with the front two. Because even with England, right? I know we play with a 10, but the 10 is Morgan Rogers who basically plays as like a second striker and runs in behind Kane and stuff and Bellingham does it I think we are seeing it come slightly back because of how direct football's becoming more there's a few teams that do it

58:11Theo:City employed it against Leeds they had Marmuchin and Semenya together I know they're not necessarily out and out number nines but like the three behind I just think there's less emphasis

58:19Lewis Bowden:on on central possession teams like to get the ball wide as well a lot more now full backs are so key getting forward That's one thing that annoys me about football. Like... Go on. Like, actually, Arsenal are a big cop with this. Spurs are the worst at it. It's just like, there's just nothing goes through the middle of the pitch. Yeah. It's just like, hello, like, there's 80 % of the pitch. It's because it's seen as... It's like risky. Yeah, more risky. It's annoying. Whereas wide, there's more space and then you can recycle and get it. It's like, yeah. It's why water just goes forward through the line.

58:52Zone 11, isn't it?

58:53Theo:Zone 11? Is that the danger zone just outside the D? I thought it was zone 14. or is that the one of them I don't know that might be in the box who cares relegation battle obviously still continuing Forest in there they really needed probably points against Brighton but such a shame fucking Brighton what's the point who are Brighton what's the point of Brighton I'll get bored I'll get annoyed with them they go on a losing streak at like five in a row do Brighton fans even want to hear us talk about them do you want me Brighton fans hate Brighton yeah

59:19Lewis Bowden:they do I'm sorry

59:21Theo:that first goal though

59:23Lewis Bowden:by the way fucking sells Jesus also he's shit for Bruggan for Forrest's goal I thought I know he cuts across it but I don't think he meant that Gibbs, were you? No, he didn't Slicing it Yeah, I think he scuffed it shall we say Not scuffed but I don't I know players do do that and can't hit across the ball but I think he was going for the other side I think it just wrong footed for Bruggan but yeah, I'd still want him to do better Also, Forrest spent like 150 mil in the summer Yeah If they go down I'd be hilarious Yeah I mean, I'm amazed that they're still struggling after Jaime Pereira, a manager that left Wolverhampton Wanderers without a win in November.

1:00:04Shock horror.

1:00:05Lewis Bowden:In fairness, though, they were really good away against Fenerbahce. They played well against Liverpool. They weren't terrible at Brighton, but... But Brighton are pretty bad. How long till he gets sacked then, Pereira, before Moanakis has a lower wobble? I think he got Tudor in. Honestly, who? Who are their next fixtures, Forrest?

1:00:28Theo:They've got Man City away. Has there been more seconds this season than any other season? I don't think so. It feels like there's been loads. It feels like it's just a lot of teams have done multiple. Like most teams haven't. And also a lot of them have happened

1:00:40Lewis Bowden:right by each other. Yeah. It just feels like it's nice.

1:00:43Theo:And also we talk about it every week. What's Potter here this season, wasn't he? West Ham. So Forrest have Man City, Fulham, Spurs, Villa, Burnley as their next four.

1:00:53Lewis Bowden:I think if they... If they don't beat Tottenham, they'll sack him. If they're going to lose to City, probably, if they don't beat Fulham and don't beat Forrest, I think they'll sack him. They need to win two or four of Fulham, Spurs, Villa and Burnham. They're going to beat us. Yeah. I think Forrest have a number and you're managing before the end of the season. I agree. I think they will. I think he'll do it again. Just fuck it. Yeah. Well, they're the first team to ever have four permanent ones, aren't they, in one season?

1:01:20Theo:He's very happy to do that. He is. He is. He'll be a manager. I'll be in trouble by Mr. Maranakas. I really want to go to the cruise. I reckon he's probably got spies watching this anyway. And then probably game of the weekend, Burnley-Brentford.

1:01:33Lewis Bowden:I felt sorry for Burnley.

1:01:34Theo:Was it? Hard done, man. I felt so sorry for Burnley. Offside by a sock and then Ashley Barnes' arm. If they had won that, they actually would have been in the conversation. 100%. They'd have been 2.1 West Ham if they had won that. 100%. They've been all right.

1:01:50Lewis Bowden:Burnley-Burnley, they've been all right.

1:01:52Theo:You think they're a bit of a walkover. Even when it went 3-0, I was like, oh, fucking that's not.

1:01:55Lewis Bowden:Jay Nantony, man, he's got a bit, he's got a bit of ego. I think Ophelide was like, oh.

1:01:59Theo:Are they not?

1:02:00Lewis Bowden:So unlucky. It's just. Do you know what I think, man? The reason I really, really felt for him is because I remember, like, years we've stayed up or we've had games like that where, and then you look back and he was just a bit, he just went for you, though, a bit of luck. And then it's like, oh, really?

1:02:15Theo:Ashley Barnes went fucking mental. Do you think it was hardball? I mean. I thought he knew it was handball, the way he acted.

1:02:22Lewis Bowden:Yeah, I mean, in fairness, he controls it with his arms, doesn't he? But it annoys me because he can't do anything about that. No, yeah.

1:02:31Theo:It's just a reaction and then score. I feel bad for Scott Parker, man. Poor lad. Every time he comes into the Prem, he's with the shittest team in the league and he ends up... I think he's just... That's not true. Oh yeah, I forgot about fun. But this time they've actually trusted him. And Ballmer was good when he was manager as well. They got rid of him after he had that awful run of fixtures. He had the worst fixture list ever and he obviously didn't win any of them. He just got rid of him. I think it was more the 7-0 that got him. They've stood by him. He's actually done well to turn them around a little bit.

1:03:01Theo:I'd argue this is his worst squad yet and he's actually managed to turn them around under a little bit of trust. They've got 90 points.

1:03:08Lewis Bowden:They're eight points

1:03:08Theo:off the... In terms of performance from Burnley and this team, they've been good. They've been like three months throughout the game. They're better than expectation, but we expected them to be 20th in the Premier League. Exactly. That's the only reason why you're saying that. Also, they've only not sacked it because they've basically gone like, well, we're going to go down. Yeah. It's also like,

1:03:27Lewis Bowden:who the fuck are you going to get in at Burnley? That's the only reason. Yeah. He's filed at every Premier League club. And they all hate it. All Burnley fans hate him as well. Can you call

1:03:36Theo:19th with Burnley a failure? Yes. Yeah. Yes. What do you mean? Relevant. Being above Wolves is a success. Yeah, but Leeds and Sunderland are the way they are. Sunderland finished below them

1:03:46Lewis Bowden:in the championship. Yeah. Sunderland finished in the playoffs. Burnley were like, they barely conceded a goal last season. Sunderland had 18 points. Burnley came up with like 100 points last season. But like, if you just compare the squads

1:03:59Theo:and the recruitment, well, they got Kyle Walker.

1:04:02Lewis Bowden:Get up the championship title from last year and look how many points ahead Burnley were of Sunderland I know but Sunderland's team in fairness isn't the same as the one last they recruited well Burnley haven't recruited well I feel like the cells no who's the other one the double barrel they finished 24 points

1:04:17Theo:ahead of Sunderland but again attracting players to Burnley 16 attracting players to Burnley over Sunderland and Leeds is very different I do agree with that that's a very good point like Jacques to Sunderland was mental but Jacques to Burnley imagine that it'd be fucking crazy Because he leads, obviously, the history they have. Xhaka should have probably gone to Burnley because he wanted to be in a relegation. Yeah, he wanted to be in a relegation. He should have avoided that.

1:04:40Lewis Bowden:For God's sake, I don't want to be mid-table. I do think that's just put the final nail in the pocket.

1:04:46Theo:I know you were about to talk about Brentford, but just like a little shout out to Zion Fleming. He's been good, man. Yeah, he's been good. He's been good. He's decent. He'll probably get a decent move in the summer. Will get him. But Keith Andrews has signed a new deal to 2032 at Brentford. Jesus. Turns out Frank was a fraud. Yeah. It was always Andrews. It's just Brentford.

1:05:07Lewis Bowden:Mod dog could manage Brentford. He was our handsome brother. From set-piece coach to manager. Nicholas Jova. Yeah, but that set-piece coach, that was just in name on it. He weren't just a set-piece coach.

1:05:19Theo:Maybe that's the most successful people in the Premier League.

1:05:22Lewis Bowden:Do you remember when he scored at the Molineux? He beat you 5-1. Yeah, let's move on. I know Arteta, if he wins the Premier League. Arteta? Arteta wins the Premier League Brentford get top seven who wins manager of the season? It'll be given to Arteta

1:05:36Theo:Arteta It's given to Pep every year when they win I don't like the manager the manager of the season rewards are a bit pointless isn't it? It's just whoever wins the league It's not a bad metric I'd argue I'd argue he's more outperformed as expert If he's overperforming manager of the season it would be I disagree

1:05:56Lewis Bowden:I think you underplay how hard it is to win the Premier League I think if you win the Premier League unless if Brentford finished top four maybe but if Brentford finished seventh that isn't that crazy I'd say we'll win the award

1:06:07Theo:but we all said at the start the expectation is for Arsenal I didn't I put them in the relegation category yeah but the expectation for all of us was kind of Arsenal to win the league so if he gets it across the line I understand that's a really cool feat to do I also don't like the award people like to rewrite history with that it's like when people are like oh everyone knows Arsenal has the best squad in the league and if Arsenal Everyone said Liverpool were the best with Denver recruitment. Liverpool were going to be gone, beaten, super-teamed, didn't they? Yeah. Okay. I was only trying to put forward...

1:06:40Theo:No, no, no. Liverpool were smug.

1:06:43Lewis Bowden:I just think, for him to do it for the first time in, what, 20? I just think, if Arsenal win the league, he has to be manager of the year. That's my opinion anyway.

1:06:52Theo:He will. I don't necessarily disagree. It's more last year, period, previous years. I'm like, let's just call it what it is.

1:06:59Lewis Bowden:That's just you getting bored of success. It's a bit like in the NBA when LeBron James should win it. Well, when he was at his pump, he should win MVP every year, but people get bored of it.

1:07:09Theo:It's like, let's just call the award of what it is, Ed. The manager who wins the league gets the trophy. That doesn't always happen, though. Yeah, that's not necessarily true. When hasn't it happened? I think there's been a few times. Did Slott win it last year? I remember, was it Burley won it at Ipswich, for some reason, 2001, the finish fifth? Oh, they got Europe. When they got into Europe. Qless won it at Palace LMA manager of the year. I remember it well my goat what? good type I yearners let's have a look yeah Pulis at Palo title Klopp in 21-22 Pulis was the last one to win it who didn't win the league no Klopp yeah why did Klopp get it?

1:07:48Lewis Bowden:because I don't know they win the Champions League that was when they lost the Champions League final to Madrid but it's not

1:07:53Theo:Premier League manager of the year I guess yeah we have this Pardew for Newcastle. Redknapp for Spurs. Pardew got it for Newcastle that year. Yeah, when you finished fourth, wasn't it? No, it was fifth. We almost got fourth, though. That's a bit... Okay. It does happen. I would maybe say... That was a good feat, though. It was a good feat. Yeah.

1:08:11Lewis Bowden:And then you gave him, like, a nine-year deal. That was good. Yeah, and then we didn't sign anyone

1:08:14Theo:and we went back to being shit. And then finally, Bournemouth, Sunderland,

1:08:18Lewis Bowden:not much to really report on that. I was thinking it was... Oh, by the way, oh, this is a question for you. What was the best cross of the weekend, Tavernier or Bruno Fernandes? Did you see Tavernier's cross? I didn't see Tavernier's cross. Oh my God. It's fucking incredible. I don't know why I'm asking them. Do you ever see it? I don't know. No, I thought Sunderland... Juve's ball in was pretty good as well.

1:08:38Theo:Huh? I don't know if I should put that forward. Juve's ball in for... Yeah, that was good actually. When he just drilled it. Yeah, drilled it. He's such a good crosser, Juve.

1:08:46Lewis Bowden:I think Bruno takes it, but the Tavernier cross is really, really, really good. But yeah, that was the Premier League review, guys. Let us know in the comments what you think about your team.

1:08:55Theo:Nice. Right then, boys. Next segment we are going to do predictions for the end of the season in terms of how the table looks, title race and relegation. We like our predictions on the... We like our predictions on the show, but this isn't the prediction show. So... I'm the villain. Sorry. What the...

1:09:14Lewis Bowden:Who's that? Who's that? I don't know. That's a weird... Why have you got your pants off?

1:09:19Theo:You have to check. Right, let's start with the title race. obviously it's between Arsenal and City we're starting at the top no he's up from the bottom always from the bottom okay come on right well we have all of the end on the big finale of Wolves getting relegated yeah but that I feel okay it depends on how you view it I suppose which one's more fun but yeah let's start at the bottom so the relegation battle between Leeds Spurs Forest West Ham Burnley and Wolves well so he's finishing bottom of the league oh shit how am I missing a team

1:09:53Theo:have you done all 20 teams I've got 19 teams I've done all 20 come on then let's see yours first stop adding up points sorry he keeps adding up the points of the results I hope they know he's still doing it Lewis let's see your table then can you bring up the table so I can see which okay well fuck it well it'll be funny right I'm missing a team so in 19th I've got Wolves that'd be Burnley in 20th then 18th I've got Burnley Why do you think Both of them were going to Who the fuck am I missing Well there's a team Missing from this table We're going to have to do Oh I think I know I think I know Is it Spurs Is it Newcastle It's Everton It's 20th No they're not in 20th Finish bottom of the league With 40 points So 20th I've got Wolves 19th Burnley 18th Tottenham Hotspur I'm doubling down Yeah man You can't change week on week So I rate it But go on down man Sometimes football does crazy things 17th West Ham Forest in 16th 15th Leeds 14th Sunderland

1:11:00Theo:13th Newcastle and that's I think we're fucking just going to dick off the league and go for the Champions League I reckon you won't have to get knocked out by Barcelona yeah well let me put it another way we're fucking shit in the Prem but how's not the problem if you're dicking it off wouldn't that imply that you drop from where you are nah we'll keep Chugging away. We're going to tank and finish where we are now. Chugging away. 12th, I've got Palace. 11th, Brighton. 10th, Everton. Palace 12th. Mate, where are they kicking off? Sorry, mate. I back you. I think if Sran Larson gets kicking, you've got good players in that squad.

1:11:35Theo:If I look around that area... You think Palace are going to finish above you? We might finish above you. You see how bad we are, mate. Look at the form that we have. Hey, you fucking... Oh, my God. We're shit. I didn't realize how bad I was. He said earlier, the only team that are worse in the form table is Spurs because Newcastle beats Spurs. How bad is that? Spurs are just a joke, aren't they? It's a fucking embarrassment, that. Ninth, Bournemouth. Eighth, this is a bit of a rogue one. I've got Brentford to drop even further away. Is it rogue? Is it one place? Wow, they're really going to drop off.

1:12:11Theo:Because seventh, I've got Fullham. Sixth, Villa. Fifth, Chelsea. Fourth, Liverpool. Third, Man United. Oh, so you now agree with me about Villa? Yeah.

1:12:19Lewis Bowden:Yeah. After you argued with me the week. Do I agree with you? Are you arguing with me? Yes. What do we argue about? You literally had a go. You and Theo were like, Villa aren't going to drop out. No way.

1:12:29Theo:No, honestly, I guarantee it was only Theo. I just like to encourage him. Sure. It works. A facilitator. No, I'm like, yeah, no, you tell him and then he gets amped up. It's good. And in second place, I have Arsenal Football Club with Man City first. I don't think you believe that. Is that based on the FIA result? I don't know if you do. I've just spent the last 15 minutes adding up all the points. So where the fuck does that come from?

1:12:53Lewis Bowden:I think they're going to do you. We'll save you till last then. 20th Wolves, 19th Burnley, 18th West Ham, 17th Spurs, 16th Forest, 15th Palace, 14th Leeds, 13th Brighton,

1:13:10Theo:Oh my God, he's got us a top 12.

1:13:11Lewis Bowden:12th Sunderland, 11th Newcastle, Bournemouth 10th Everton 9th Brentford 8th Fulham 7th Villa 6th Chelsea 5th Liverpool 4th United 3rd City 2nd Arsenal top That's interesting that you've both got Fulham in 7th I think Fulham yeah Fulham are good man I just trust them more I catch it home Can I go? Yeah I've got Wolves 20th Burnley 19th Forest 18th We've all disagreed on who will go down at Spurs. West Ham, Flores, O 'Reve, you've got a side of O on that. I already know what mine is. Spurs, 17th. West Ham, 16th. Leeds, 15th. Palace, 14th. Brighton, 13th. Sunderland, 12th. Bournemouth, 11th. Newcastle, 10th.

1:13:59Yeah, cool. Brentford, 9th. Everton, 8th. Fulham, 7th as well? Villa, 6th. Chelsea, 5th. Liverpool, 4th. United, 3rd. Man City, 2nd. Arsenal, 1st. Why Fulham for you? Or all of you? They're cooking something up right now. They're fun to watch. They've got a really good squad. I think the vibes are up. They've got a lot of momentum. They lost the previous three. Yeah, but then they won the last two. I just feel they just, I look at their team, they've got so much attacking firepower. Silva's a good manager. He also is probably going to want a move in the summer. So he's got like something to play for.

1:14:32They've got players who are on fire as well.

1:14:34Lewis Bowden:They're like, you say that, but Evan lost the last two as well before they won like recently. No one in that cluster I really trust to put a run together. I think Fulham are the best team out of Brentford Everton Fulham I agree I completely agree Lewis if Margot Silva said he wanted a Newcastle job would you take him he's pretty proven

1:14:51Theo:no no I don't want him no do you know what guys this actually says a lot about you you just don't have any loyalty alright well my manager let me have a good day of my life he can have a season off

1:15:01Lewis Bowden:go on holiday it's alright nice yeah but then you sit every week crying about how shit football is and you want to we're going to win the Champions League fair enough right shall I go We'll hear from you and then we're going to go a bit more in depth in the title race and the relegation battle for everyone.

1:15:19Theo:I have Wolves Bottom. Burnley in 19th and then Forest in 18th. Surviving that by one place is West Ham United and then Spurs ahead of them. Pretty similar. I mean, it's just getting flipped. Palace next. Sorry, mate. I think you're just going to concentrate Trait on your aura. 15th, win the conference. I'll take that all day. Yeah. Then Leeds, above them. Brighton, above them. I can't remember what... 13th, I think you're on now. Yeah. 12th, I have Newcastle. 11th, I have Bournemouth. 10th, I have Sunderland. I think it was Xhaka back. Yeah, it's the white house. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Definitely, definitely.

1:16:02Theo:Everton in ninth. Eighth, Fulham. And I think Brentford will cling on to that seventh. I'd quite like that for them if they did. They've got a three-point cushion. I mean I butchered them at the start of the season saying they were going down It's mad Brentford

1:16:13Lewis Bowden:have won more games than Chelsea this season isn't it? How the hell they have? Damn

1:16:18Theo:Yeah I suppose they're not really a team that draws No yeah they've got the least

1:16:24Lewis Bowden:draws in the league with Fulham

1:16:27Theo:I have a different top five to you guys I think because I've gone Chelsea in sixth Oh I don't think Why?

1:16:33Lewis Bowden:I mean it is six points

1:16:37Theo:I think Villa will cling on to fifth and I think Chelsea have a slightly tougher run of fixtures coming in the stretch.

1:16:46Lewis Bowden:And it is six points. Yeah, six points is quite a lot. Yeah. Have they got to play each other? They must have to play each other, I assume.

1:16:53Theo:Yeah, they play this week. Yeah. Villa got Chelsea at home. So, I mean, if they win that game...

1:16:57Lewis Bowden:I think Chelsea win that though because of that... It's great timing for them. Do you think? All the players Villa have got out. Yeah, it's perfect timing for Chelsea. Yeah,

1:17:05Theo:but... Chelsea's right. Palmer's groin going off injured. Neto out.

1:17:08Lewis Bowden:Shall we have a bet?

1:17:10Theo:I'll put a£10 on Villa winning the game

1:17:12Lewis Bowden:I'm not having a bet for£10

1:17:14Theo:Okay I'll put£20 on Villa winning the game

1:17:16Lewis Bowden:£50 minimum

1:17:18Theo:Can I take Villa all draw? No, fuck off £25 for Villa all draw?

1:17:23Lewis Bowden:Come on then I'll do£25 I don't know man

1:17:28Theo:Palmer's injured Not necessarily cooking I mean they've just had their Sars had their first start at the back They've just lost to Wolves Which is exactly why I think they'll bounce back and win midweek they need to win so Villa in fifth for me Liverpool fourth Man United third Manchester City in second because I did the maths and Arsenal are going to finish in third how many how much do you want to get I have it down as 91 fuck off is that basically winning every game apart from City apart from drawing City

1:17:58Lewis Bowden:I mean it's quite impossible you ain't going to get 91 points

1:18:02Theo:well look it's Brighton Bournemouth Newcastle Fulham West Ham Burnley Palace and then there's a yeah maybe You will actually. That's a pretty sick team. They're all three-pointers. Also, the good thing is, Bournemouth, Newcastle, Fulham, Everton, next one, yeah. Palace will probably have nothing. Everton, like, they're all mid-table teams. I'm not on-tribble advice, right? The only game there I see where it could be a draw or worse. We've got our prize. Well, I think West Ham away, that end of the season, might be, they might be fighting for their lives. But other than that... Everton away from home, mate.

1:18:31They're good. Arsenal can also rest plays in the Champions League with their own as well, can't they? So... Yeah. He's talking about Everton being away from them. Yeah, Everton away from them. But like, are they like second or third in the away table?

1:18:42Lewis Bowden:They've got an unbelievable away record. It's because them players just suit it in teams on the break. That screams 1-0 though. I can't see. To us. I reckon Everton could do, yeah.

1:18:53Theo:And then I have City as, what did I have City as? They're going to get 26 points between now and the end of the season because I think they're going to draw against us and then Chelsea. So you've been pretty optimistic about the team. That's 85. 85.

1:19:06Lewis Bowden:You think you're going to get six more points than them?

1:19:09Theo:City will drop points. Five now. City will definitely drop points. Yeah, but I... I guess Palace, mate, will do it. One of their games is against Chelsea, though, so I think that's where they're going to drop. The same Chelsea you don't think can beat Villa,

1:19:21Lewis Bowden:but they can beat City.

1:19:22Theo:Chelsea at home. Chelsea are at home. I don't think that's crazy. I did the maths. I did maths, guys. They're fixtures against City. They're just playing a bunch of teams who have a lot to play for. I think that does matter. Yeah. Like, I mean, they'll beat Forest, but like West Ham, same logic. I think West Ham will get something out of either City or Arsenal.

1:19:40Lewis Bowden:You say that, but then it's also... Chelsea top four. I do think players get a kick out of spoiling parties.

1:19:46Theo:Yeah. It's honestly, no, genuinely. I say this, it's one of the best things you can play for as like a shit team sometimes. Just like ruining people's season. We did a disperse. It was so good. We were relegated and we stopped them from doing anything. Was it horny? It was last day of the season. We beat them like 4-5-1 or something. It was min. Which season is that? It was when... I think they were going for Champions League or something. He got them relegated. It was funny, though. Like a long while ago? It was when we were relegated the second time. Okay. Like the Wijnaldum relegation? Yeah.

1:20:20Theo:Yeah, we beat them like 5-1, I think it was. So, the game in hand for Man City is Palace at home. They'll win that. All right. So then, there's two points in it. You look at them runnings. We'll get this on the screen for everyone watching. are Arsenal running away with that? No. I don't think running away with it. We definitely have the better... You'd rather have Arsenal's fixtures than City's. Do you reckon? Yeah, man.

1:20:43Lewis Bowden:Other than Chelsea? Yeah. Other than Chelsea, Forest at home is a-tapping. West Ham away. Yeah, but so Arsenal got that too, but they both have Burnley, but Arsenal have them at home. They both have Everton, but Arsenal have them at home. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, but I'd rather play Everton away.

1:21:01Everton away, better away.

1:21:02Lewis Bowden:from home. And also the point that Villa as well, I suppose. Also, last three games, Brentford, Bournemouth, Villa, I'd rather have West Ham, Burnley Palace in that. We're going to ruin

1:21:12Theo:your, oh man, if we stop you from winning the title again, oh, that's going to be fucking, you're away from home. That's actually class. You're away from home. That's going to be 4-0. That's going to be all over again. Yes, please. Yeah, but it's not at St. James' Park. Does it matter? It does matter. It doesn't matter. We're going to play for spoilers. By the way, City have got Villa

1:21:31Lewis Bowden:at home again on the last day. I'm getting Deja Vu. I've got the Gundogan. Gundogan, sorry. That's a good one, that isn't it? I feel like Villa and Palace are always involved in the total races. We do often spoil parties. Yeah. Slightly in for the end

1:21:44Theo:of the season. I hope it doesn't go that far because I can't go to the last game of the season. Why? Going to a festival. What festival is that? Across the Tracks. Rockwell Park. What the fuck does that mean? Like a day festival. Is that a country festival? Sounds like a country festival. No, no. Little Sims. Joy Crooks. so I don't really want to miss that but if Palace played Arsenal and a tight decided I can't not go to that the vlog would be crazy

1:22:07Lewis Bowden:I've got a vision of me sat in the home end and watched them with the league and feel myself like but then I'd actually just never live that down so I probably won't do that

1:22:16Theo:well let us know what you think guys and who's going to win and who's going to get relegated let's have a little bit of a bigger chat about the relegation running sure so let's go around eight spot and freeze again Tom you go first

1:22:27Lewis Bowden:as it is Wolves Burnley West Ham Wolves Burnley Forest

1:22:32Theo:Wolves Burnley Tottenham and then Wolves Burnley Nottingham Forest Right let's start with the two lads who think Forests are going to go down I just don't know what Look at that fixture run Those top Those late 34 onwards Brutal To be fair Their entire thing's hard Brighton City Spurs is a shooing maybe I don't know

1:22:51Lewis Bowden:Yeah but What makes me laugh is right These are the worst teams in the league of course we're going to look at their fixtures and go, God, that's a tough one. They're all red. I'm joking. What this graph tells us though is that the average league position of the teams that are playing at the bottom. So West Ham have statistically got the hardest running because they're averaging eighth in the league. I think West Ham have the best manager of the three, definitely. And I just think they've got a bit about them. They've been there before. They've done it before. The thing is, they've got a bit more fight.

1:23:28Theo:Nuno would love to stick it to fight. Yeah, and I think Forest, they have a lot of really good players, but I worry a bit that they're kind of somewhere in between Spurs and West Ham where they have a lot of players who will leave next summer anyway. Yeah, that is a good point. By the way, the thing is, this graph's a good given idea, but by the time they reach five games in, the teams can be all different positions. We'll be fucking 16th or so. Hear me out. It's like, can Wolves leapfrogs burn? Sure. Well, I was going to ask the question, how many points? They're only six points off. How many points do Wolves last game of the season?

1:23:58It could be huge. I'll be tuning into that as I said at the bar. The answer is no. How many points do you think Wolves get at 20 points this season? No. It needs seven more points. Yes. I think we do. No chance.

1:24:07Lewis Bowden:What are people watching that are like Wolves? 20-26 Wolves, man. What is this amazing run? They're on pleasing light. I mean, they won two games all season. We've won one in our last one, Tom. That's 100 % record. You're only as good as your last game. I made you beat Villa, so. if Wolves get over 20 points the reason why I think they could

1:24:29Theo:the reason why I think they could is as you said earlier who are Wolves going to beat Villa they could beat West Ham for one we've just been saying you're saying West Ham I'm not saying West Ham are going to win every game between now and the end of the season to stay up

1:24:49Lewis Bowden:West Ham are going to have to beat Wolves to have any chance they'll beat Spurs in match day 34 They will beat Spurs. Which isn't enough to get them over 20. And then they did another point somewhere. There's every chance

1:25:01Theo:they beat Brighton as well because we don't know where fucking Brighton will be turning up there.

1:25:05Lewis Bowden:What have you seen from these teams that make you think they're going to get to Brighton and win?

1:25:09Theo:I've watched Brighton play.

1:25:10Lewis Bowden:Have you watched Wolves play? Yeah, I have. Wolves haven't got one player that would even get on Brighton's bench. Or by potatoes, Mane.

1:25:19Theo:Yeah, I'm being facetious. I'm being honest. I look at Spurs' fixings. I don't know where they get a win for the rest of the season. except from Wolves except from Wolves the thing is they probably only need like two more wins Palace, Forest, Wolves they have to beat Palace and Forest if they lose one of them that will get really toxic I actually quite like Spurs but I want them to go down I just think it'll be mental that Forest skim the Forest game is so big Palace is huge as well they've got a Thursday night Tudor's not well they'll win that because we won't turn out but all of the games that we're in are so important You've got to lock in for Palace West match day 33.

1:25:58Who do you think who's going to go down? Yeah.

1:26:04It is tough to call. It is tough to call. Where Forest? Do you? Yeah, Pereira can fuck off. Is it impossible that Burnley stay out? Yes. Yes.

1:26:14Theo:No, done, no. You're done. Just thought I'd throw that out.

1:26:17Lewis Bowden:Yeah, no. Is that magic that fucked them in it? I mean, look at their last city, then Leeds away, then Villa, then Arsenal. I think we are, Do you think, I've certainly done this, do you think we're all going, not everyone, but Spurs, surely they've got enough. They're free-falling. I think people are taking it seriously now they could actually go down. This is the first time I thought they actually could. No, I think they can go down. I'm not saying they can't. I just think they will. When it gets like, I can just envision it. I can just imagine them getting a big result. What's it called? The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

1:26:53Theo:They're all looking for the transfer moves. but they're going to have to play well if they lose every game for the rest of the season who's going to go and spend some of them have like Xavi Simmonds just has his name so he's going to go fucking to a big club and I just think

1:27:06Lewis Bowden:West Ham's next three Fulham away City at home Villa away I can't see them getting a point and I think if they can if they can beat Palace Spurs then they're going to that Wolves game West Ham with like what there'll be six odd points or something I just think it's too much I really think these next three games will be kicking the bollocks to West Ham, unfortunately. I don't, I want Forrest to go down, but I just, yeah. I mean, Forrest next few aren't easy either, to be fair. No,

1:27:35Theo:no, yeah, I agree, but. I wouldn't mind West Ham going down. They're almost the same pictures other than the Spurs. I honestly think

1:27:43Lewis Bowden:it would just come down to, like, I think Spurs only need four, four, five, six points. Yeah. People always overestimate how much you need to step. People are like, I doubt with 40 points. Actually, I think you're right. I think two wins keeps you up. Yeah, it will. Because also just like mentally, that's just, as you said, if Spurs win against Palace and yeah, West Ham lose, all of a sudden the gap's like eight points. And you'd expect Spurs to beat Wolves and beat Palace, really. Yeah, you would. Who do you think, is it better for English football for Spurs to go down or stay up? No, they need them to stay up.

1:28:16Theo:No, yeah. I don't want Spurs to go down. One out of six in the Champions. I just want to steal some of their players as well. I don't want them to go down. I either want Spurs or West Ham to go down and we can get some cheap deals. Who would you have from Spurs? Good point. Finally get Madison. Yeah, I was going to say. Finally get Madison. Vicario. Yeah, Vicario. Oh my God. Madison. Do you know what? Salenki up north. Salenki would be great. Yeah, Salenki. Here we are. There's no way to join. You can run a little bit. Vandervin. Romero. Yeah, actually, fuck it. I want West Ham to go down. We'll get bowling.

1:28:50Theo:West Bromham.

1:28:51Lewis Bowden:West Bromham. West Bromham. West Bromham.

1:28:52Theo:You could have the West Derby.

1:28:55Lewis Bowden:Nice. Nice, man. Well, let us know who you think is going up and down and tell us why.

1:29:01Theo:Up and down.

1:29:02Lewis Bowden:Up and down the league, yeah. They're going up and down.

1:29:06Theo:All right. Well, finally, guys, what we're going to talk about today, huge game. Upcoming. Midweek. It could go anyone's way.

1:29:14Lewis Bowden:It's the one-sided derby where Newcastle and especially Lewis really hate and care about Man United. And Man United don't give a fuck about you. Yeah, I love to, win games? What?

1:29:24Theo:What's that got to do? I don't know what that meant. I don't care about the result. I want to win. I think we'll lose really badly. Really badly? Really badly.

1:29:32Lewis Bowden:It'll be grim viewing. Well, go on then. Tell us your combined 11 then. Let's leave Lewis to last. Leave you to last in the prep. Oh. Oh, so I'm leaving Lewis to last. Well, I'll go because mine's pretty boring. I think mine's pretty standard. We should specify injuries. We're not... No injuries. We're not including injuries. All things being equal. Right. I've gone with Lamans in goal. My back four is Liveramento, Chau, Martinez and Lewis Hall. Oh. No,

1:30:00Theo:no, no Mateus did it? You don't fancy it? Nah.

1:30:02Lewis Bowden:No. Then a midfield three of Tonali, Bruno G and Bruno Fernandes and a front three of Mbwemo, Sesko and Cunha. Mine is exactly the same. There you go. Yeah, that's my 501 partner. Ball.

1:30:21Theo:Yeah, we all saw it, mate.

1:30:22Lewis Bowden:The moral winners of the 5-0-1 tournament.

1:30:25Theo:Definitely the moral winners. I think mine's relatively similar. I've got Lamins and Goal, Livermento, Chau. I've gone De Ligt, though. Really? Yeah, I prefer him to Martinez. He's had a good season, I suppose, when he's played. Yeah. All right. He's been okay. Lewis Hall at left back. Midfield three of Tanay, Brunerji, Bruner, Fernandes, and then front three of Sesco, Cunha, and Mbremo. So you had one, didn't you? That's what I'm saying. and it was similar now it's time for the correct list I need to change this because that's for injuries just before he gets into it do you actually think Martin has a better centre back than Dillett

1:30:59Lewis Bowden:I'd rather have him I think he's alright to be honest it's slim pickings I think Chow's from what I've seen Chow's definitely the best I think Botman's overrated and I think he's too injury prone he's definitely injury prone I wouldn't mind I wouldn't even be against Dammit or even Maguire. I honestly think that second centre-half, I don't care. Okay. Fair enough. I think the rest, I'd argue,

1:31:25Theo:I wouldn't argue that. Yeah. I've got Lamons because there's zero competition to that goalkeeping place. We have shitkeepers. But Pope's better than that. Do you know what? Ramsteel's actually, Ramsteel's not bad. We should actually play him again. Do you remember when you said Pope was better than Alisson back in the day? Although it was quite a while ago, wasn't it? Now at this point, I'm pretty sure we're going way back at the moment. Wasn't it just the start of 2025? We were one of the best defensive teams in the world at that point. How did that work out for you, buddy? Well, we finished Champions League that year.

1:31:53Theo:Got into a final. And what else happened? We went on to win a... No, we got a final. We've had two finals. We like to get finals on like Arsenal. Livermanto in right back. I have went with Chow and Botman. I hear what... I can't believe Botman gets laughter. That's a bit... He's injured probably. He hasn't played for ages. I just fully expected it was coming. That was all. Yeah. No, Botman hasn't played for ages, so... Even when he has played though

1:32:16Lewis Bowden:he's been poor this season.

1:32:17Theo:I know but I agree with that again but it's like he's always like came back from injury had a few games got injured again so you're never seeing like after Botman. But doesn't that come into the old debate of if he should be in the scene then? That's why I wouldn't really debate you on choosing someone else. Like the Botman I've seen when he's actually playing he's like extremely good. Two years ago? Just let me hold on to something. You can say that about Nick Pope fucking five years ago. He's so fucking good though when he's like oh he's so good. By that logic Nick Pope shit. He still is.

1:32:45Lewis Bowden:He still is, though. He's been terrible this season. He's barely played.

1:32:49Theo:When he's played, he's been crap. Because he's been injured. He's been crap. That's some gymnastics. He's been crap.

1:32:54Lewis Bowden:I think for the level that you've... He scored? Oh, sorry. He's been great. Then he scored a goal. He came back from injury and scored.

1:33:00Theo:He hasn't been crap.

1:33:01Lewis Bowden:When I've watched Bottman this season, I've been really... He's at his high points.

1:33:05Theo:He's at his low points. He's coming back from... He was terrible in the game against West Ham

1:33:08Lewis Bowden:when you lost the reverse Mulligan one.

1:33:10Theo:Honestly, fucking... Everyone should have been sold that day. Hall, left back, Tonali, Bruno G, Bruno Fernandes, Mbwemo, Sesco, and I still put Gordon on that. So you've got more Newcastle plays than Man Utd? You've got more Newcastle in the 11th. I think Gordon's a better. How many Man Utd plays have you got in there, Lewis? Five. Say them again. I've only got one different. You've got four. You haven't got five. You've got more, haven't you? I've got Lamons. You've got the entire and you've got the back four. Bruno Fernandes, Mbwemo, Sesco, or four. By the way It's not like I've done Any creative picks there Do you not think Gordon's Gordon's a better You're 13 Gordon's a better winger Didn't Mateus Kunya He's not better than Kunya He's not a better player He's not Any part of football I think he is I think Gordon's getting Way too much here at the moment Gordon's good But he's not better than Kunya He's not better than Kunya Just better at football In every aspect That's mental What's Gordon better

1:34:06Lewis Bowden:Other than probably Got more pace He's quicker He's better at diving He's not Based on who he gets Penalties? Penalties?

1:34:14Theo:He is better at penalties. Is that true? Could you have missed a few for balls? Gordon's a great penalty taker. Gordon's scored like 11 penalties in the Champions League. Right, right, right. He's the second top goal scorer in the Champions League. In this team, there's the penalty. I think Gordon, I think Gordon's really, like when he's direct, he's... Cunny's the most direct footballer in the league. I know, but Gordon's bringing more pace to it. You always know what he's going to do.

1:34:33Lewis Bowden:Cunny gets more end product out of it though. He doesn't just run the ball out of play as much as Gordon. Gordon doesn't do that too much as he does. I think if I was picking someone

1:34:42Theo:to be out on the left I'd be picking Gordon I don't think it's a crazy like I don't think it's crazy I don't think that's crazy

1:34:49Lewis Bowden:but I just think it's silly

1:34:50Theo:if I was making this team I think Gordon especially Gordon with like a little sesgo in the middle yeah but you keep saying like oh that could have been our front three but they're not at their best

1:34:59Lewis Bowden:like they've been could have been your front three Gordon has been good Gordon hasn't been good this season he's been good as a whole he's had a good run in the Champions League admittedly against really weak opposition. It wasn't long ago we watched the game together and you were celebrating and getting taken off. Yeah.

1:35:16Theo:Football's a crazy spot.

1:35:18Lewis Bowden:Great retort.

1:35:19Theo:No, he's been playing

1:35:20Lewis Bowden:up front though, hasn't he? Not that game. Do you know what? Do you know what? So yeah,

1:35:23Theo:you said he was better up front. So would you want him on the left? How many of his penalties come from playing number nine? If I was to pick a winger for that team, I'd be choosing Gordon. I think Gordon's really good. Yeah, we know that. He can go miss on some games, but he's such a nice He's been a lot. He doesn't. When he's on the pitch for us, he's our main spearhead to get through and actually do something other than passing it side to side. Can you use way more talismanic even in a team that have more talismans? But we got our talisman in this team. Who? We got Sesco and Emblemo. What about Bruno Fernandes?

1:35:52Theo:Sesco and Talisman. Bruno Fernandes, yeah, we got enough talismans. No room for Maynou. Oh, yeah. I thought about it. Yeah, I was in between him. I'd still take Miley off room. I've said that from the start. By the way, I can't believe Miley's... Come on, mate. Miley's came back in had three games and suddenly he's better than Miley again it's embarrassing should you take Casemiro over Lewis Miley we're talking about right now no what is this I don't think you you must ever have seen Miley plays yeah phenomenal how are you saying Casemiro over Miley I was just trying to make a talking point no you're sat in his chair

1:36:28Lewis Bowden:I think yeah but you're you're saying Miley's come back out a few yeah but he hasn't played because of the Amory stuff and everyone yeah that's it it's not his fault everyone remembers his level he was literally England's best player Miley's had like

1:36:39Theo:his best season yet with us and he's actually even doing it from like positions that aren't his position and then Stamane he's played three games a season it's like yeah he's better than mine you know just on the Kobi Mainu talking point do you think he gets on the plane? who? Kobi Mainu yeah I don't think he stars but I think he gets on the plane yeah get him on the plane I don't think he really works with Declan Rice as a two no I agree I think he'd be a Declan Rice backup he needs yeah

1:37:03Lewis Bowden:he's yeah 100 % he's the backup 8 yeah exactly he's not going to play he can't do the defensive side in the 6 and then the 6

1:37:11Theo:is what Warton and Anderson it would be Anderson no I mean in terms of that depth yeah that's pretty naughty yeah and then Henderson as a 5th yeah leader yeah probably will go right I'd imagine so

1:37:24Lewis Bowden:he has been good though for Brentford yeah I have no issue with him going but yeah I think Lewis yet again has pulled out the old I don't think

1:37:34Theo:that's really a stinker. I know I am on Newcastle players and it's like you can see the league table but like a lot of the Newcastle players I've named are also like injured and stuff. This is a non-injury list. At the start of the season let's just say we rolled this back and it was like game week 10. Would you have taken Volta Marder over Sesko? Well naturally yeah 100%. I actually still don't even think I don't think it's necessarily that Sesko's a better player than Volta Marder. He's a bit annoying. It's yeah and like we don't work well with Volta Marder. We play really wide wingers where Volta Marder wants people right like two tens right there.

1:38:06Theo:So it's like, we're not the right thing.

1:38:07Lewis Bowden:I'm starting to think he's a bit of a luxury player, Volta Marder.

1:38:11Theo:He is always, it's like what I said about Man United, where it's like, if your system like dictates that you need this exact thing for you to work well, then you need to improve. Like, he's great when it's perfect for him. And he's been really good in midfield, but like, he still doesn't get into the box when he should. He still doesn't have that hunger to get forward because he can't sprint back. And it's like, Sesko's a bit of a throwback nine as well. you know I can't believe

1:38:34Lewis Bowden:how much I've changed my opinion on him I really like him I think he did like it's similar-ish to Harlan in the sense that I don't need to get involved in the game just

1:38:46Theo:get in their position and fucking finish him

1:38:48Lewis Bowden:and he can like he's really impressed with his finishing the last few weeks once he's had his confidence up yeah because I remember the Leeds game like you had a few one-on-ones and that and I thought oh this guy can't fucking finish and that's what the but his physicality he's finishing his movement's good Bruno I mean playing alongside Bruno if you can't score goals then you're fucked in

1:39:10Theo:and even if if you're a number nine that certainly thrives on being direct as well having Kunio and Mbwemo next to you

1:39:17Lewis Bowden:must be a great they're such Man United coded players Mbwemo and Kunio as well just the arrogance and the desire when they get the ball every time they get the ball their first thought is at the goal that Everton goal

1:39:30Theo:is a prime example I always thought Kunia would work at United, I agree, he's very United coded but I've actually been quite surprised how good Mbwemo's been I know he was really good at Brentford but I didn't think he'd be able to make the step up in the way that he has

1:39:41Lewis Bowden:The only thing I worried a little bit about Kunia was him not being the main man I think he has got that bit of an ego but it seemed to have just worked for them He kind of still is He kind of acts like he is the main man

1:39:53Theo:It's almost like partitioned in the front three he's taking the main man role and then Bruno's the main man in the middle Bruno's so unselfish

1:40:00Lewis Bowden:but Umbremo probably is their best forward but he kind of just allows Cunha to be the I suppose arrogant one but I've got a question is Bruno Fernandes the best player in the league at the minute yes I was about to ask a very similar question of if United finish third could he win player of the season I think he's up there but if Arsenal win the league it's going to be Rice isn't it I think the argument

1:40:23Theo:is between him and Declan Rice

1:40:24Lewis Bowden:also Sobber Sly but I'm starting to think it might just be Bruno I just think every week, every time I watch Man United, even with how bad they were as well, he's just always, always creating chances, making things happen. He's all over the pitch. He covers every fucking yard. Here's a question that I want to ask you back. He's a leader as well.

1:40:47Theo:If City go on and do it with the running and he plays an influential part, could Semenya take Player of the Season? I think if City win at Gahey, he would be above. I mean, I'm obviously biased. Do you think? I think Gahey's been... Always Gahey. It would be Semenya. But I think Gehi's been more influential on City. I really did. No, but Gehi... Semenya was like... We were strapped by a former. Even prior to joining, he was... But then when Gehi left Palace, we were like fourth. So he probably has aged quite well for him as well. Then again, would he take it over Haaland if Haaland's gone? Wait, what?

1:41:16We were like way up there when Gehi left. Really? Yeah, we were like... At Christmas, we were sick, I think. Jesus. Yeah, but we just fell off a cliff after that. Semenya's scored more goals than Haaland since he signed for Man City. Has he, I know you could say best, I'll word it differently, has Semenyo been the most impactful signing of anyone this year? I still think he has. Including the summer as well. He was signing in the summer. It was good. Oh, that's been good. I mean, you could talk about the United. Yeah, Mbwemo. I think Mbwemo's up there.

1:41:50Theo:I mean, there's an argument for Zubamendi. Yeah, Zubamendi would be up there. He's not been great lately.

1:41:55Lewis Bowden:I don't think he's...

1:41:56Theo:He's scored some important goals and he's been like the first portion of the season.

1:41:58Lewis Bowden:I think the turn of the year he's dropped off a little bit, Zubemande. I've been a bit disappointed with him because at the start of the season I thought he was your best player.

1:42:05Theo:Yeah.

1:42:06Lewis Bowden:Like in terms of the way he was playing but who else has been signed? I'm trying to think of anyone who's real. I can't think of anyone who beats them out. My pick would be in Buemo. Yeah. And then do you all agree Fernandes is the best player in the Premier League? Yeah. I mean it's hard to argue at the moment. I'd always favour the more attacking ones see how good Bruno it's just every week it's just more and more mental that Ruben Ammon was playing him as like a number six just give him the ball in the fucking pocket it's so stupid he is an idiot he's a complete idiot I've seen not playing Mainu not playing this is the thing about Harry don't get me wrong he's done a great fair play he's come in and done well and United do look better a lot of us could have went to the team and said let's change these I feel like he's just done the most obvious thing and it's like, oh, actually, yeah, they are pretty good, you know?

1:42:58Lewis Bowden:They've got pretty good players when they don't try and play five at the back. Yeah, Ahmad Wright wingman. What the fuck was he actually doing? It's so funny looking back.

1:43:06Theo:Like, we all knew he was wrong, but to see how different they are with those simple changes.

1:43:09Lewis Bowden:And how arrogant of him to never be like, maybe I'm... Agate, Casemiro. Being press conference and saying, I'm never going to change. I was in a tweet from a Man United fan yesterday being like, are we seriously going to pretend like the performances weren't better under Amarim? And I was like, even if you do think that.

1:43:29Theo:He's watching games on the radio there, man. There's no way it is. He wants some attention. Writing that properly. Anyway, Lewis, back to Newcastle. Before we finish, I want to run through this with you. I guess this is going to be a really good lightning. It's Will with his fourth start of why we should sack Al. I just want to run through the squad, and I want you to tell them whether, for improvements next season, keep or sell. Oh, yeah, this is going to be great. And the lads can say whatever they want. but this one's just for you Lewis so Ramsdale let him go back I mean he's been inconsistent we can get a better keeper for that amount of money Nick Pope keep but he's on the bench Mark Gillespie let him run his contract out he's a club legend John Ruddy let him run his actually no no keep Gipsy can we go back to Gillespie Gipsy keep Mark actually friend of the show how's he a club legend he's just been here for ages does that make you a club legend aye let John Ruddy go keep Mark so you're selling all four goalies no we're keeping Nick Pope and Mark and then we're getting Mark because he can't tell the signing big Mark first name basically Mark Gillespie signed in 2020 had his mid three appearances he was there he's there he's there before from youth wasn't he he's from Newcastle I'm sure he is he left Newcastle youth team in 2008 to sign for Carlisle but he never played for Newcastle.

1:44:54Yeah, I know.

1:44:54Theo:I never said he played. Club legend. High coming. Chow, obviously, keep, bottom and cheap. Sha. Cheap. Keep. Sha, unfortunately, let him go. He's getting old. He'll have decent wages. No, it is though, because he, do you know what the sad bit is? And I know we were like, but like, there's only a few players remaining from like the down days who actually survived to this point over the new ownership and Sha's won. He used to be on the, he used to be on the bed. Then we've got a violin. No, but Steve Bruce had, him on the bench and had fucking Fernandes playing. Oh no. You keep in Bottman? Yeah, yeah, Bottman keep.

1:45:30Theo:Not cash in. Definitely keep versatility, but he'll be off the bench. And he's from Blythe. He's from Blythe. We won't do the youth players. What about Lewis Hall? Lewis Hall, keep him and beg him to stay. Tina Livermantle, beg him to stay. Pretend I'm Lewis Hall. No, we're not doing that. Trippier, leave. Oh, that's fucking aggressive. What a legend. Who's keep on getting he is class look he can't is he not a club legend do you know what's quite sad like his best him playing his best is like getting over the wing and whipping those crosses he just doesn't have the legs he's too busy going out

1:46:03Lewis Bowden:fucking pulling OnlyFans girls I've looked at it isn't he

1:46:06Theo:Kraft I can't believe like fucking hell I'm surprised he survived this long even though Kraftu's class Tenali Keep Kraftu that's what you call him Kraftu no I know Tenali Keep Bruno Keep Ramsey Keep but is that if you had if I don't know Arsenal came and said 100 million for Tenali. Keep him. We're not going to give a better player than Tenali to Newcastle with no European football. We've got to try our best to keep anyone like that. Like, beg them. And luckily, no. Luckily for these players. So what I've realised is you're acting 80 % in the squad but you're begging the rest. Yeah, get rid of the shit of the good ones, please.

1:46:45And who are you signing without Champions League football?

1:46:48Theo:Well, hopefully we won't have to sign anyone. We'll get on to that afterwards. Elliot Anderson. he'll come back he will Ramsey I'm so happy about Ramsey he's come good so definitely keep Joe Linton keep Miley keep Willock if we can't get reinforcements keep but otherwise sell he's actually been a lot he's been a lot better he's getting better isn't he does that suggest that Joe Willock's also from New Zealand slash Australia I did not know has he changed has he changed he must have a parent or something from there yeah yeah because Charles got Finland on his that's weird see the thing is like I'm actually quite conservative with this.

1:47:23Theo:There'll be a lot of Newcastle fans who will be seeing sell for certain players. Montserrat. Ah. Is that what that is? Montserrat, yeah. Tiny flag, couldn't see it. Right. Anthony Gordon. See, I'd say keep. There'll be a lot of Newcastle fans saying let him go. Look, if there's a big... He's an ugly bastard, isn't he? Jesus.

1:47:37Lewis Bowden:Look at that photo. Oi. Sorry. Sorry. I mean, he's just not the most attractive man in the world.

1:47:43Theo:He looks like an extra from Willy Wonka. I think it's quite obvious, right? I think it's quite obvious. If you have, like, the top teams in the league all like getting rumoured around one player then you probably have a good player in your hand lads so let's not fucking spit out dummies out and blame everything on him he's probably pretty fucking good what about Mudry he's actually played in the league though I feel like it's a bit different it's a bit more like an Mbwemos situation isn't it but Mbwemos obviously did better set up but like I feel like it's quite obvious lads it's not his fault so fucking Liam alone Harvey Barnes keep sure he keeps Harvey Barnes why are you stuttering over that I'm keeping him it's just the problem with Harvey Barnes is right he's very clinical and he's in the right spots but it's like he never he doesn't if he's not doing that you don't see him and that's why I feel like Harvey Barnes gets loads of applauded because he's scoring goals and Gordon gets rinsed but he's the one who's actually trying to make something happen and not go missing it like he's at least trying to penetrate Alanga Sal what a year Alanga I like him like you said last week he couldn't go yeah he went bad again he was going against City there was meaning I tried my best I've stood out longer than most people on this but Murphy he's your best player keep Alanga, sell Murphy well that was a quick switch Alanga would be on the bench what?

1:49:01Theo:Alanga's 23, he has time to improve Murphy's way better than Alanga but he's a decrease in value isn't he? I'm surprised he's worth 15 million what's 20 million worth to Newcastle now? who the hell is going to buy Jacob Murphy? what do you mean?

1:49:16Lewis Bowden:No one's going to spend that much money. You get way more money for a Langer. Exactly.

1:49:21Theo:I know, but we'd have to replace a Langer. We could have a Langer and just bank him there. Murphy, he doesn't offer you anything. Off the bench, he would. No, he doesn't. Yes, he would. Yes, he would. More than Murphy. Murphy's 31, going on 32. He's decreasing. I can't just describe age. Decreasing value. That's not a medal. You can disagree. It's not a medal. His value is decreasing.

1:49:41Lewis Bowden:Oh, no, but it's like saying, but the gap in quality and performance is so much I don't think it matters about their age it's not as big as you

1:49:49Theo:as previously Murphy's not been good this season either he's been better way better than Alanga I know but not many it's hard to be worse Alanga's been one of the

1:49:56Lewis Bowden:worst signings I know he has a very good argument to keep the good one

1:49:59Theo:quite simple I have a 23 year old winger and a 31 year old who am I going to keep to be on the better the better player because he's going to last another couple seasons and then he was selling them for nothing let's make some money if Alanga has another

1:50:10Lewis Bowden:season like this

1:50:11Theo:next year he'll be worth 10, 15 million. You could probably recruit a lot of money for Alanga now. How much do you think we get for Alanga now? I reckon you could get 40 million for him. 50 million for Alanga. She said no. 60. You can't get 30 million for him. Brennan Johnson. A club in Serie A will fall 40 million. 100 % you get

1:50:28Lewis Bowden:40, 50 million for Alanga for his age. But even by that logic, you can sell Murphy for how much you think? 10. Yeah, but the point is Murphy, is Murphy not worth more?

1:50:38Theo:Is Murphy not worth more on the pitch delivering that's precisely yeah but no but like I'm not on about I don't think I'd be I wouldn't be starting either of these I'm saying who do I want on the bench Murphy yeah but I he's going to decrease in value this is my opinion I think I keep the young I'd give the Langer more time

1:50:57Lewis Bowden:if he keeps playing the way he's playing

1:50:58Theo:but he's 23 and he's 31

1:51:00Lewis Bowden:he's naturally

1:51:01Theo:going to keep

1:51:02Lewis Bowden:his value longer I understand what you're trying to say but you're alright to disagree but you don't have to agree with me the age thing is irrelevant

1:51:10Theo:when the gap in qualities he's so much but I think it's very hard we've seen what Alanga can do he's been terrible with us this season but like I don't then just write him off he's 23 give him a proper summer with us as well get him get into the let him get into his rhythm but more grow some confidence yeah um Volta Marder keep um so many rumours about him leaving Visser so annoying Visser like 29 how the do you know what's how much did you spend it was 64 do you know what it was 55 do you know how open an offer was 25 they negotiated us up 30 million pounds in one window absolutely fucking Brendan Brendan the same thing with Brendan yeah he had 19 goals banked from a season without penalties they can ask a decent amount we could have got him for free in like 4 months and he's played 3 games anyways yeah but it was desperation that was the point wasn't it he needed a second yeah terribly run club he should have just like Mateta in that period anyways we'll get on we'll do the worst best worst signings the season in a few weeks.

1:52:13Visser, would he be up there? Yeah, definitely.

1:52:15Theo:It's not his fault, but he's been a bad sign. I don't understand the criticism Valtemar has got. I saw the quote come out saying someone said he's the worst signing of the season. Look at the same club. There's one that's couldn't even work. Yeah, but that's classic talk spot trying to get a few clicker con carnies. Azula, Sel, Frankfurt were trying to offer us 40 million. Yeah, I saw that. Please do it. Please do it again. Why did you not sell him at that point? We just didn't have, Visser was injured. Gordon wasn't doing it up front at that point. He's been a better...

1:52:43Lewis Bowden:What's going on with Matteo? He's injured at the moment. Injured? Injured. He was at the game on Thursday. Has he followed you back yet? Yeah. Has he followed you back yet? No, he's still not following me back. He's followed Palace back though. Oh, wow. Dickhead, bro. At least stand by. You're spitting your...

1:52:59Theo:Does he not know that you are Palace? Well, Clint's not. He saw the arsehole. Have you tried... Well, Matteo watches this. Well, Jean... He doesn't. He does. Jean-Philippe, if you're watching. what the hell I thought we were boys I thought we were literally boys are you weird do you still follow him yeah he's such a cook well I want that follow back no he's going to follow me back I'm going to unfollow him

1:53:20Lewis Bowden:yeah that's a power play power play I like it no I'm not going to do that John Flippes

1:53:24Theo:right well ladies and gentlemen there we have it hopefully you enjoyed today's episode thank you Ollie for joining us mate thank you we have a tenable coming out soon as well streaming throughout and a stream midweek of the game that we spoke about for the combined 11 Newcastle Manchester United so we'll see you does anyone want to watch that shit Yeah, I want to watch you.
