In short
Arsenal’s collapse-in-manner after a 3-goal home loss to Manchester United; debate over title chances, January signings, and Arsenal’s “underrated” XI. Then Newcastle’s managerial ceiling under Eddie Howe, plus Spurs’ struggles and wider Premier League form.
Guests/backgrounds
The episode is a panel of football fans/analysts (no names given in the transcript). They speak as Arsenal and Newcastle supporters, with one host/guest arguing title outcomes and another pushing tactical/managerial takes.
Key claims
- United “saved football” by playing chaotic, direct football; Arsenal were overcoached and lacked bravery/killer instinct.
- Arsenal’s defensive cohesion (Saliba-Gabriel) looked off; the goals were largely due to mistakes and worldies, not just chance creation.
- Arsenal’s main issue is finishing: too many edge-of-box moments end without shots; reliance on set pieces.
- Newcastle are “transitional” under Howe; they don’t need an elite manager like Emery to reach top four.
- Spurs are in trouble due to defensive structure and upcoming fixtures; Newcastle/Arsenal could rack up points.
Notable examples
- Arsenal’s own goal and a scrappy corner vs United; Saliba firing, Bruno Fernandes chances.
- Newcastle/Bruno G stat claim (never won a league game when Bruno wasn’t playing).
- Spurs vs Burnley (Simmons hit the bar; Spurs created chances but were punished).
- Liverpool discussion: Van Dijk/Salah criticism; Bournemouth’s win and Semenyo/Jimenez impact.

So how are we all doing, lad? I'd like to stop you right there. Okay. Arsenal fans, I know you like to do your speeches, your videos, this and that. I've actually prepared a speech for the start of the show. Have you really? Yeah. Have you written it down? Would you like to hear it? No. Respect and silence, please. Can we have some silence in the studio until I've finished? We're having to bowl knowledge.
1:37Once they get into character. Ladies and... Just ruined it. Just ruined it off the rip, mate. This is a serious, serious, serious speech. And I've wore this shirt for a reason. Because this is a pro football shirt. The beautiful game, the way it should be played. Ladies and gentlemen, football fans, or I like to call them, survivors. Yesterday, Manchester United saved football. They didn't just beat Arsenal, no. They grabbed the beautiful game by the collar, looked it dead in the eye and said, not today, Pulis. Because let's be honest about Arsenal Football Club. They want you to believe they are art, that they're culture, that this is football heritage.
2:19But underneath the PowerPoint presentations and the carefully rehearsed touchline crouching, they are anti-football. No. They are Stoke City with a university degree. A pumped up stoke. Stoke with Wi-Fi. They don't play football. They administer it. They don't attack. They roll out a process. They don't score goals. They arrive at outcomes. And then comes glory, glory Man United. Beautiful, chaotic, deeply unserious. A club that doesn't build phases, it builds moments. a club that looks at tactical discipline and says, what if? What if? And yesterday, against all odds, against all logic, against the sacred text of modern football Twitter, United chose joy.
3:16They chose heart over heat maps, chaos over control, hope over whatever it is Arsenal are doing with their set-piece routines and emotional support centre-backs. It wasn't perfect. It wasn't clean. It wasn't even sensible, but it was alive. And somewhere out there, a child turned off a PlayStation, looked up from expected goals and felt something again. So yes, United beat Arsenal, but more importantly, football won. We don't clap that. Yeah, I don't think so. I want to clap that. I have multiple questions. Did you come up there yourself? That's my first question. It was 50-50. Okay, right. Tom, can I say it?
4:07These robots are too... That's the best thing I've ever heard. You and Robbie Burns, one of the greatest poets of all time. Who's Robbie Burns? It's Burns Night again, man, because he went to a pub once. It's one of the best things I've ever heard. Thank you. I felt like it needed to be said because you lot hate football. You do hear football. You're not in the Champions League, though. Yeah. Do you not remember the Inter Milan game like four days prior? kind of football over there. The teams set up differently in the Champions League. Do you... If you... You probably still will go on to win the league, right?
4:37You will 100 % be the worst team to ever win the Premier League on the eyes. I agree. I think it's a bit of a team that's worse. There was all the debates all week about would this Arsenal team beat the 08 United team? They can't even beat this United team. There was Wayne Rooney debating it. There was loads of... There was a big discourse online about it this week. Shouldn't there be a question? People saying, oh, which players were getting to that 08 United team. Do you think it's a bit of an exaggeration after just three iffy games in the prep? It's not even that. You only seem to score. You didn't listen to the speech.
5:05Yeah, you didn't listen to the speech. We scored an open play goal against Man United yesterday. It was an own goal. This is my point. That's the worst. No, it's got an open play goal. It was a scoop shot that hit Martinez and went in. And you're claiming that like, oh God, we're so... Do you think that's good? You are shit to watch. They scored better goals than us, yeah. They played football the right way. They scored two worldies and a mistake. Do you know what? I actually think United have shown that players at the top, top level don't need to be overcoached. That's the Ancelotti theory, isn't it?
5:37I think maybe that's what Ruben Amarin was trying to install. You look at United, they've got players like Cunha, like Mbema, like Bruno Fernandes, who can win a game on their own. You don't need to overcoach. Just shoot on sight, like you say. Strike it! Just fucking sometimes just strike it. That's the Real Madrid of recent seasons, isn't it? Yeah. Exactly the same thing. I will say the Zubomendi mistake, I think Rooney did a really good piece on Arsenal, actually, if you haven't watched it much. I haven't seen it, but can I just quickly put it in? I think that's more Saliba. I agree with that.
6:09Saliba kills him. I know what you're saying. Zubomendi could have taken a touch, but the issue actually stemmed from them not passing out. There was a couple of times Zubomendi had the option to play it back into Rice and Rice was demanding. He didn't do it. Saliba had an opportunity to play it into, I think it was Odegaard, didn't do it. So they obviously have been told to be a bit more reserved with playing forward and that led to a mistake. And look, Arsenal don't really make defensive mistakes this season. They have recently. So it has been a bit of a blip. And Gabriel did at Bournemouth. But even Saliba and Gat, I thought it was their worst game as a pairing.
6:47I thought they were so, normally they're so tight-knit but they were quite far apart. Do you know even the goal? Right. You know Saliba fires it at him. And then Saliba runs, like, to go for a one-two. And it's like, that's the centre-half. You just surely sit there. You know the Bruno chance when Saliba gets a touch last minute and Bruno puts it wide? Yeah. That was him again, though. But that was Gabriel, who was... Like, Saliba was based on the halfway line playing the offside. And Gabriel was slacking a little bit. But then the ball gets played and then he tries to step up. It's too late. So then he's left.
7:15Yeah. So I thought it was quite poor from Saliba and Gabriel. I thought it was their worst game together. Yeah, a lack of cohesion. for quite a while. It's three without a win for you. I think the biggest thing of yesterday was you give United a sniff and then I felt like you got a bit nervous and then they were the better team second half of United. You were by far the better team for like 25 until United scored. Yeah. I was saying last week, I thought it was going to be interesting to see how both teams started because if Arsenal went in and asserted themselves, which you did to at the start and then got that goal, I would have been fully confident you would have had it.
7:50but I feel like Man United off the back of that the fresh start the new formation that we all know is going to work way better it's like if you give them a bit of confidence they were going to do what they did there and they realise we can match these I think it's important Arsenal put like put a serious number up against Leeds next week and make another not a statement but like I don't know you do I think we do because look Man United are clearly under Karrick 10 times better than ever they are better like they're obviously on a bit of an upwards trajectory Bruno's playing phenomenal he'd also more just be a bit of a new manager He might be a new manager.
8:21We don't know. We'll see who he's better. Their most influential player is in his best position. But if they've got him one way back, they've got Dorgou playing like unbelievable left wing. But we all said this about Oli when he first called me. Yeah. Amazing it was. Time will tell. Exactly. They're looking all right at the moment. Yeah. And Arsenal have had a bit of a blip in the Premier League. Outside the Premier League we've been absolutely fine. It's just two nil-nil draws and it is a lack of goals coming from the front line. It really is. I do think, again, nil-nil against Forrest. I can't get it out of my head that you're overcoached in the final third and this is why the reliance on set pieces comes and it's like I don't see how many times does like someone get the ball on the edge of the box and don't shoot there's only really Declan Rice who shoots from outside the box that's why it was surprising when I heard about it that got a shot off the post was it but that was inside the box that led to the goal yeah that was the corner but I just think I wish I wish a few more had a bit more I don't know killer instinct no not even killer or anything?
9:19Just more bravery? Have a go. Fucking strikers? But I feel like Arteta, again, I'm guessing, I don't know if their coach, Arteta would rather be on the byline or in a different area. Like the Man City in that era when they would overplay and almost walk into the net somehow. But they had better players. But do you remember that game? And then your issue is that fucking big donkey comes on and clears the ball and he gets... Like, can we talk... I know I'm skipping to the end of the game, but my God. Like, we've said a lot of things about Jokre's here. Maybe at some points we did go far. No, we didn't.
9:45But I think that proved that we haven't actually. We didn't go too far. The fact that, like, it's not just... It's such an easy pass to sack. Yeah, it is. It's a tough one. It's boggling my mind. Like, I feel like we're all speechless at how hard he's hit it and how far he's literally cleared it. I don't know. He must have no feel in his leg at all to, like, have that limited control of the football. But I think at that point as well, he doesn't even have... Zero of an S. I don't want to pick... Well, not even that, but I don't want to pick flaws in his game, but, like, it didn't even seem like he was picking Saka out.
10:15do you know what it was it wasn't even an awareness to be like oh he's next to me he was just like playing it straight it's a sign of a player who just has he's low on confidence he panics and it's when he gets in his positions at the minute he's overthinking but also a lot of players would struggle to hit the ball that hard if they tried even if you don't understand what he's even trying to do he knows what a football pitch is he knows how wide he is and compared so why are we breaking it down to this thing genuinely Genuinely, forget if he has no clues there. Your logic should be like, let's play it across the box.
10:49He's hit it to the fucking floor. I can guarantee that's exactly what he's trying to do. He's just panicked. He's low in confidence. He panicked. I've never seen a top-level footballer do that in that position ever. It's crazy. It's one of the worst things I've ever seen. I'm not even joking. By the way, love that it happened. Love it. I love it. Love for that. Love for that. Arsenal, we've talked about this a few weeks ago already, but Arsenal aren't going to win every game. We are going to have little blips in the season and it is going to get a bit tighter. We've already mentioned this. It's nothing to worry about, but it needs to be nipped in the bud.
11:21It is though, because... I think it's sort of the way of art. Do you know when you lose? It does imply we're susceptible though. I mean, that's how you lose. The problem is, it's the way, it's the manner in when you don't win. It's such a tough watch and it's so bad that when you don't get these goals or the set pieces or... It's so bad to watch. Everyone's like, Jesus, he can't win the league, surely. like it is it's a Forest last week was a fucking talk watch on it why is it so different in the Champions League teams don't set up so defensive they play with a bit more freedom which allows Arsenal to play I also think in the Champions League the level just isn't look at the top eight of the Champions League it's all the English if you look at our performance against Villa to PSV it's night and dear it's different it's the pace of European teams playing week in week out in their league compared to the Premier League I think the level is shit Inter Milan are average no disrespect to everyone in Europe but the Premier League is by far and away the best league in the world.
12:14Inter Milan won't get in the top four in England. No. Not this one. Yeah, all five teams in the top five. Where are Spurs? Fifth. Spurs are fifth in the Champions League so do you know what I mean? Real Madrid and PSG are the only non-English teams. I just, and I think also I think you've had such a good start in the Champions League. There's no pressure on you in the Champions League. Yeah. Games like yesterday I do think, are they still, I did think you'd got it out of you but it still keeps creeping back in where I do just think games like yesterday I'm just like that's a game where Arsenal should go no to play devil's advocate because I think United were the better team and deserved the win in the second half yeah first 25 were good but the mistake and it's not like we did concede two they were worldies yeah they were great goals they were great goals they take nothing away from the goal so you could also look at it say we shouldn't be given very mistakes even given the time to have the shots but fucking fair play yeah like actually fair play that dog's strike is sensational and the way Kunio bends it around Gabriel is unbelievable.
13:12But my point of that is that's all well and good and I think it's the first time in three years you've conceded three at home. Since Luton. First home loss of the season. Yeah, it's been years since you've conceded three at home but then on the flip side, other than an own goal and a scrappy corner, you've created nothing again. Can you remember a big chance you had? Saka. That's not a big chance, is it? It's weird because this man's City team looks off it, Harlan's off it and you keep letting them back in, having a sniff like the four points of you now and like but neither of them should be anywhere near you compared to how you have been at your best and how they've been at their best this season even City look better now though I know obviously you know we're going to say it's Wolves blah blah blah but they went unbeaten before they played them in 2026 but Gehi and Semenya already look like they're improving and we've said if you give Man City a sniff towards this like back end when you come in when you're playing them in a few weeks and they're within reach honestly that's where like I really worry for Arsenal because the press conference was don't worry guys I know what the problem is now we've 100 % sorted it so what the fuck do we do man if he's worked it out that's crazy because he said that and then benched Harlan and Fowlen yeah but like the thing is like their team is and it's not taking a shot to Arsenal but they are they are winners they know how to win the league they've done it so many times and they've also been the team who've been behind you in situations and seen you crumble so they'll have a lot of confidence I know but the manager does no especially when you're Warnie Ola A lot of the team aren't winners.
14:40No, but okay, you have Guardiola. No, but in the Prem. Donnarumma, Vardiold, Diaz. You're talking about Premier League winning things. Vardiold, what? Yeah, but winning's winning, isn't it? There's Harland, Rodri, Foden. I'm sorry, the majority of that team's winners. And even the manager who's been through all, he's like, I've been in this position before. And he knows it in and out. You trust him way over Arteta in terms of winning something. And that's not taking a shot. They will have confidence. I don't know if you saw Pep after the game. He is looking a little bit stressed though They reckon he's leaving At the end of the year There is Win or lose Something still isn't right At Man City though No I still don't think City are good enough Like they aren't They keep staying in reach Is the thing I agree but they're still Staying in reach And like when it comes to them Playing I'd use a whole more way I know but we say that But they've had multiple opportunities To actually get level With Arsenal Arsenal got two points In the last three games And we're still four points clipped Yeah Do you see what I'm saying After City went level Before Christmas With them So Arsenal have been terrible Since Christmas and they've actually gained points on City.
15:38Yeah. I honestly think... It should be further. I honestly think Villa might be more of a threat. If they can keep... Villa's issue is depth. They can keep players fit. I'd fancy Villa to give Arsenal a bigger... I don't know if that's true. I don't fancy City at all. I don't think they're that good at all. Even with the new... Are they though? Are they though? Yeah, he's... Why is City in there? when they played Brighton the other day at home Brighton are alright and they throw that away they could have lost in the end I know but you'd put the trust in that number one they've signed two unbelievable players in January which is going to boost them moving forward Semenyo and Guy will hopefully solve a lot of problems and you just have to put a bit of faith in Guardiola I know last season and since last season it's always been a bit iffy but I don't think that's enough where you just write them off Gun to your head who do you think wins the title at the moment?
16:31Well I said I went back down Man City and I'm staying Man City I think but it's really tight I could say it either but I do I just think you're going to die if you get it wrong Man City I'm saying Man I have to because Arsenal Arsenal with this gaff I've seen so many times you throw this away so it's like Arsenal I have enough faith I'd say Arsenal as well but they're going to be the fucking oh my god it is a little squeaky bum I just really think the League Cup for Arsenal is such a big thing to win to give us almost just a relief like okay we got something but now there's less pressure now to win more.
17:06I know it's not enough. It's not enough. I hear that. It's logical. It's something. No, I hear that. I just wanted to show you something on that. This is your Premier League stats. Is that like you need so much more than that for a title winning team? You think, oh, great front threes. Five goals at the top scorer. I heard a good stat that actually backs your point up here. Trostor doesn't even value. He's not even a number one star. I don't think a team has won the Premier League with someone less than 13 goals. you are top goal scorers and there's every chance we get someone less than 13 goals that's not going to happen yeah so do Arsenal break that mould or do we not win the league or does someone kick well I mean someone kick on and get goal contributions before the end of the season I think you're referring to the Chelsea 2004-5 season Lampard Lampard got 13 Drogba got 10 Gundogan the City maybe yeah but they all kind of when they had Haaland as well in 2022-23 so that's the output is that the question marks there it's not defensively you've probably got the best midfield defence and goalkeeper in the league yeah it would be is it the attack though that's the problem that has to come down to our tech I think it has been we could easily break the mould though if everyone's getting by the end of the season upwards of 10 goals each which is a possibility it's funny because the story's always been Arsenal need that striker to do it and obviously Jokreza's came in and not been good enough so that still remains true it's like you need the striker and you thought you got it but you didn't we don't leave games with nil-nil if you're scoring goals do you so that we've had two games in the last three boys I'm not gonna lie like you might win the league but if you don't oh no it's gonna be delicious you don't think we are I don't think you are no but it's very much possible but I honestly it's every time it gets more sweet but this time will be so amazing this will be the biggest bottle of all time it actually gets me a bit excited based on the fact that everyone else around them is just so cool yeah like and you've been so much like better than everyone like the drop off of Liverpool the drop off of City like Villa are up there like if you manage to throw this away fuck me honestly I love it man does anyone know what are the percentages for teams to win the title like what has Villa been given at the moment oh fuck knows who knows someone cares oh no I mean I do think though if you if you create a different angle of chat if you come away with no trophies this season from this stage he's got to be sacked genuinely well we said that at the start of the season we said I do think I think they will I think Arsenal win at least one I think they'll win at least one now you mentioned about the League Cup do you not think it could have equally the opposite effect if you don't win it where I think it would ramp up pressure to win something even more that could definitely be a massive if you don't win the League Cup if you don't win the League Cup then all of a sudden it's like they can't even win that how are they going to win and it's so which puts a lot of pressure on it actually your next three by the way Leeds away yeah yeah yeah still in home Brentford away surely that has to be 9 out of 9 I don't think I think they draw at Leeds I think they might as well at the back at the end road they're so good and like they're set up well and then after that it's a top-down weekend barris Arsenal should be getting seven points out of that minimum yeah amongst that they have got the semi-final and the league cup they've got Wigan and the FA cup yeah but the semi-final's done isn't it it's only 2-1 it's 3-2 isn't it who are you against yeah we're taking it to the Emirates yeah you're one ahead at the Emirates who is it against Chelsea you can't if you throw that away against Chelsea They've got no players.
20:31Pop Pom is out as well, isn't it? Obviously, we've got Cara Almighty as well. Although, that would be fucking... That would be generational if they threw that away against Chelsea. I want them in the final. I want to do it to them. What date's that? Well, so the Arsenal leads is Saturday and then Arsenal Chelsea's Tuesday. Next Tuesday. So, Arsenal are going to rest players against Leeds. We'll rest against Leeds. You reckon? Playing two, three days later. You can't rest players. This is the whole point. You've got basically two teams. Yeah, that's my point. I think we'd prioritise the semi-final.
20:58Do you not think? Over Leeds? I'd be surprised if he rests players against Leeds. I don't think he rests against Leeds. Maybe a couple of players. Wednesday, Saturday, Tuesday for us. Maybe Madweki comes in against... He'll rest against the Champions League because we've already won. Yeah, I think he'll rest... Saka. Maybe he'll play Madweki against Chelsea and maybe he'll play Marino. He'll go full strength against Leeds and ideally you're 2-0 up at 60th minute and then you can rest. You know what I mean? You can't, mate. You don't start resting. Then you leave yourself chasing your tail. Contextually as well.
21:29like you need to bounce back after the loss ideally you control the game by half time fuck me you're finally playing a game at 3 o 'clock on a Saturday Christ speaking of obviously losses though yeah we lost haha you actually you actually created a lot of chances yeah but that's what we do honestly it's what we do and then we don't score so it's like well it's fucking a bit annoying isn't it how do you fix the problem I'd fucking strike it you actually had over 2xg strike it Martinez Martin has had a great game that one side was it the Miley header yeah Miley header was good Tonali could have put us up in 40 seconds obviously he's always going to strike it himself I think he whistled on his right and it is laid up that would be nice to whistle too but you've got to lift it you have to score that Tonali takes that you have to he's six yards out there's so many moments where that's happened in this season where like we've started a game really strong had a clear chance missed it and we're going to lose I think I said it to him I was like I'm just going to look I remember at Barcelona like Gordon should have scored and we missed it and then we just go on and lose.
22:29It happens all the time. Yeah, but that's surely more than coincidental now though. Yeah, well, we just have a lack of finishing in the team. That's clearly... Tonali's goals have dropped off. Coaching issue for shooting drills? I don't know what you do. You don't think this is starting to be a little bit of an issue for you? Is there not? No. Is Eddie Howe doing anything wrong here? We're actually first in the form charts out of the last five games in the Prem. Oh, so Howe's doing nothing wrong here? Well, no, I'm just saying you don't sack him. I'm not saying I'm not... If you jump to that conclusion, we're just saying how does the problem get sorted you're very defensive I just asked a question no one said sacking I was going to ask you a question Lou don't you speak you fucking son Levan Unai Emery turned down Newcastle but then went Eddie Howe in hindsight would you get Emery or Howe in hindsight I'm not changing anything we've won a trophy like Emery might have won a trophy with us as well but like in hindsight I'm not going to be like yeah what you could say is our best manager in history as hindsight don't want him you think he's your best manager in history he's up there because he's won a trophy he's won a trophy over the managers for Newcastle well 70 years ago that's history so I said he's up there with the best manager in history fair point Newcastle United five year net spend minus 430 million I'm playing devil's gag and then all the way down here can I respond to your devil's advocate it's 16th Aston Villa so I'm trying to show that and Una Emery is if not doing better than Howe.
23:56There's a gap with 13 points spending half the amount of money. Yeah. Do you need an ex-manager to get an ex-step? That's incorrect. It's not because net spend is with sales and buying. So it's not about spending. It's about selling as well. Yeah, we know. So Eddie Howes took over a team that needed severe spending. So did Villa. They have better assets to sell. We haven't sold assets. They're in not the bottom three. They're like 17th. Well, we can bring up all the transfers if you want. I mean... Let's do it. If you think... I mean, I'm not really sure of the, what point was it? If you want to say who's done the better job, Emery's a fair shell.
24:31They're looking like they can even win the league. I mean, it's all comparing two people who've had really successful runs. They sold Grealish, shouldn't they? Yeah. Was that before Emery? No, it was before. But it's still... Go to Villa on the out transfers. Let's have a look in the 22-23 season there. They sold Matt Target to Newcastle. Yeah, ironically. And then they released everyone. And they sold Trip Memeca to Chelsea. Wait, what's the A route? What's the era of that other budget, of that other net spend? Like, what years are those between? From 21, 22. That's five years. That would have had Grealish in it, doesn't it?
25:04I think so. Yeah, this is what I mean. Like, the net spend arguments, it's like, it's silly. Add 100 to that, they're still behind you by like 300 million. Grealish went 22, 23. You can make whatever. If we want to pull up the squad together, the squad that we had was destined to go down. So was there. So was Villa. Do you not remember when the Henry took over? What's... I'm talking about Stephen Pera. They're in the relegations. They went Dean Smith, Steven Gerrard, and then Emery. What argument is it are you trying to make? I'm actually genuinely confused. No, I'm just saying that Villa... We're just saying...
25:33You've both done great jobs. I agree. I'm not... I don't know what the argument is. You took over around that. I don't know what you're wanting me to agree or disagree with. Like, what's the argument? I don't know. He brought Emery up, but... The question was, do Newcastle need an elite manager like Emery to take the next step? Oh, yeah. I don't think so. I don't think so. Do you think Eddie Howard would be the guy to take you up to that Champions League sort of... Fourth every season. Well, look, this season is just a transitional season for us, obviously. Like, it's not going to be like we're going to...
26:03Where are you transitioning from? From losing... Who's the best player? Yeah, who our whole team was built around, what do you mean? Who we transitioned? Losing, like, one of the best strikers in the league, our best player up there. I thought he's overrated. He is overrated by me. But... So, it's obviously... Bob, during this transitional season, we're not miles off Champions League we're still in all the cups we're doing really well in the Champions League it's like you're sort of forcing some sort of agenda that isn't really ready for it you're not in the league cup though are you? that's done mate that's not done yet we're still in it you're done I disagree do you?
26:38if we go get a goal I wouldn't write us off until I see the you're away form you think you're going to go to the Etihad and overturn a two goal it's nothing to lose isn't it that's no pressure it's not like how it's been well yous can yous aren't going to convince to me that we don't have a choice. I think we, chance, I think we have a chance. No, but I mean, you're kind of, you're making it, you're making the season sound better than it is. Say worst case, say worst case we go out with semi-finals. Say worst case we go out, we still made a semi-final after two back-to-back finals, one of them winning it.
27:08So, by the way, you haven't managed to win that. Right, you haven't. I know, I just want to say semi-files are the league up for the team. You're making it sound better than it actually is. You're going, oh, we're only four points off, how many points is it off top four sorry I think we're like five six so you're only five points off top four but then I could switch that and go you're only fucking five points off 14th or something then you could go we're still in both cups you've got Villa away in the FA Cup which I think we both know you're going to struggle there with your away form you're out of the league cup basically and the Champions League yeah you've had a good run in the Champions League but realistically with your away form you're not going to go that far so you're making it sound no you're actually making it sound worse than it is there though equally because let's say worst case scenario right now let's not project what we think is going to happen right now let's say no right now let's say we go out in the league cup let's say we go out in the league cup let's say we go out we're there let's say we go out in the league cup at the semi-final we're still in the FA Cup we're doing really good in the Champions League those are the facts and we're five points off Champions League so it's like you can project oh you're going to go out there you're going to do this and that's going to happen you have no idea if that's going to happen you're also five points off Spurs who we are saying is one of the worst teams
28:15there's no point you projecting and then judging how off what you project are you not overly flattering your current position no I've said this is a transitional season we're off it compared to where we have been in previous seasons but if I look at all the seasons of progress we've made under Howe and we take a little bit step back which in reality is actually a step up from where we are like we went up so fast it's a little dip but we're still we're net up it's like I'm not going to say new manager you have to see the season out start fresh again next season and then that's where we see can we progress from there the Champions League one's an interesting one though because obviously you are 7th you are in the top 8 at the moment but you're one point off 15th well 16th and if you if you lose against PSG every chance you'll be in the playoffs yeah the playoffs most likely most likely we're going to be in the playoffs but we'll be higher up I think the way the fixtures work I think we're going to be yeah we're definitely into the playoffs like statistically right now February when they're out of each cup and they've been 10th in the frame yeah that'll be rough that'll be rough but look Look, that could happen, but you can't judge how off that scenario when it hasn't happened yet.
29:21I think the question was just like, do you think, well, Will said it, is he the guy to propel you into being a statement top four player? Which is obviously the owners, that's what they want. That's what they want. And I think he is. I think he is. Look, we haven't spent in January and there's money there because we're wanting to save clearly for a big summer. Now people are debating whether... He's spunked it all on shit players in the summer. The transfers haven't been ideal. But if you actually look at the last five games of the Prem, we're top of the form charts. So we're talking, I feel like it's...
29:51You could say that Wolves were top of it before last... Like, come on. Last five games, a significant amount of games. Now, admittedly, where we struggle is getting results against teams that are actually in the top half. And that's what we're going to have to do over the next... I feel like this argument is going to be better suited in two months' time. Your fixture run is horrendous. Yeah, this one... That's not good if that's what you think. So this conversation is better suited after those fixtures because then we're going to have to face things that we've struggled with, which is playing the bigger teams, and like so like once we get through that then this discussion is like more sued but right now I don't get it there's literally three wins in the last five Lou really quickly as well away from the idea of how stuff so Newcastle have actually never won a league game when Bruno G wasn't playing he said that to me so what is the issue there that's also not true isn't it what's that well back in 2001 oh when he was at the club so what why is that happening what's the issue there he's just he is the fucking he's the last he shows up in he shows up in he's the lad isn't he he shows up in and also and also in fairness it's like it's only nine games and it's probably you never those stats might be weird like it's nine games against difficult teams you don't know when those games land you know if there is some form of minor capitulation and we look in like two or three months time and you are like down shit creek without a panel kind of vibe yeah is that not reflective of you might need a manager change I don't think I'd leave give him another season honestly you think he's got next year in the bag anyway what I'd say is I think it's a really unfair standard for someone to do like a really good job and then like as soon as you've been off it one season all that's out the window we must be improving every year it's unrealistic overall like with especially in the Prem so it's like for me you'd give him another season it's a similar scenario to Arteta isn't it like there were question marks at the start of the season where is he the guy to get you over the line to win those trophies and it's the same of Eddie Howard is not win the trophies, it's get you over the line and cement yourself in the top four every single year.

31:45And you're worse. And I think one thing that's underplayed a little bit is like the fact that not only just winning the trophy, but the fact that every season, like we've been around winning a trophy, like we're getting into later stages of tournaments. We never did that. Like we've never even had a sniff. Same argument for Arsenal. It is progress. I know, but we're not doing that argument. But you're Arsenal. Newcastle, we're never in the later stages. Like you can't compare that at all. Like your expectation is to win a trophy every season. Before, we wouldn't even get into like a quarterfinal or never a semi it's like Lou do you think you've fallen behind Villa in the chase to keep up with the big six on a permanent basis this season yeah I mean we've sort of been like going back and forth as the season goes and it's normally the team that's in the Champions League suffered in the league but I think it'd be so hard for Villa to sustain this unless they can spend I think the scenario I think Emery's been so overperforming with the squad he's got imagine he was backed they can't And this is off the basis that everyone else around them is horrendously under-pulling.
32:43If people just revert back to the mean next season, Villa might even, what, the seventh, eighth? Also, Villa's wages are so fucking high. That's their problem. He doesn't help bringing it. To be fair, he's done well with the players he has brought in. Even Sancho's been okay for them, to be fair. But Villa's issue is depth. If they can stay fit, which to be fair, they don't tend to get massive injuries, Villa. I can't think of that. I feel like they've either got a really good... Kamara's out for the season, though, which is a fact. Yeah, but that's rare for them. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know. Watkins rarely gets like...
33:13Rodgers plays every game. Yeah, Rodgers, he's always fit. I feel like their core players tend to stay fit. Even Wendia's back now and scoring Worldies every week. Yeah, I'm not a big fan. Speaking of... Is that confirmed? Kamara's out for the season? A long period of time. Right. You take him up to the end of the season. I knew he was in. I didn't realise how long that was. I think we're going to go to Spurs now. There, I... You know when, obviously, Romero and Van der Ven scored again, right? I wanted to go check who's their top goal scorer is Richarlison on seven it's Van der Ven Van der Ven's got seven as well in the league it's Richarlison I think and then Van der Ven and Romero both on four they're second or third yeah and I think overall Van der Ven's got seven Romero's got six it's embarrassing Van der Ven linked away as well it's Liverpool it's embarrassing they're so fucking bad they're turgy to watch in fairness De Bravko I will say something De Bravko was great as well for once Spurs were unlucky Like they created A lot of But they should be Creating a lot of chances They paid Burnley Burnley good man But they were unlucky Like Simmons was so unlucky With the one off the bar Mate I'm not even joking But Burnley had chances as well Yeah they did Spurs is fucking The This is my whole point About Thomas Frank Right everyone goes on About oh well He's coaching He's defensive This and that Their defensive line Honestly mate Doesn't exist They're all over the game in transitions I think they've said a match of that they're literally in a fucking diamond the back four I think a doggy's actually really poor you know he put do you know do you know what I don't like about him which I don't like about any defender I feel like everything he does he's last ditch he's out of position a lot yeah but that's why I feel like everything a doggy does he's always like even like when he tries to block the goal he's reactive rather than proactive yeah it's everything's like lunging and diving he's not like just blocking something I don't know if it's just Van der Ven was shit for the foster goal as well.
35:11Diving in. I don't know if it's because I'm an Arsenal fan and I despise Tottenham Hotspur, but we talk about how Palace could be sort of dragged into a bit of a relegation scrap here, especially with the trajectory they are on. They're level on points for Spurs. Spurs 100 % can be dragging, especially with the results of the weekend. If I look at Spurs' next few games as well, who have they got? They've got City away. No, City at home. Man United away. They've got a terrible run of fixtures. Newcastle at home. Arsenal at home. That could be zero points for the next four. If they listen to me and get rid of the fraud, they'll be fine, but they're terrible.
35:45Who do they replace them with? Alonso. I'd go and get Glasner straight away. Actually, I don't even know if Glasner's the one. I don't know. I don't have the answer for that. I don't have the answer. Nah. There's a lot of fans seeing Potts back, isn't it? But I just think that's... He's not going to leave before the World Cup. Exactly, yeah. So they're saying get us somebody at the end of the season. I honestly think that might be an issue. That's maybe why they're not sacking him. Yeah, they might be just waiting. I don't know who's out there. No, I don't know who's out there to go and get him.
36:10Alonso? Alonso's like the main man. Would Alonso get to Spurs? That's the problem. Probably he's not. He's probably waiting for a Liverpool pocket. Yeah, I heard he's talking with him. Slott was talking about the Jabby Alonso thing in the press laughing about it. I doubt anything's imminent. Slott's not up to him to get rid of himself. Can't they go and fucking drag Inzaghi away from Saudi or something? Too much money, mate. I don't know how much money do you need. 15 million a little bit of money yeah how much is Frank on he's probably not a father a lot of money I reckon Frank's an 8-9 million pound a year he's got to be so Inzagos almost double that I know but to come and manage in the Premier League quite a lot look I'm genuinely surprised he's not been sacked by this point I'm amazed how many more go on Frank you've got this they're really doubling down on him will you I was right I'm tripling down I'm tripling down I am now tripled down but it would be classic Spurs to actually beat City in the fashion actually I've got the answer.
37:05Go and get Marco Silva from Fulham. Stealing. That's the answer. He's been waiting for like a bit ages hasn't he? Because Marco Silva doesn't, he's not this five at the back team's on the counter. He actually plays decent football. They're good on both transitions Fulham I think. They've got good patterns of play. They don't really have that midfield's kind of like, they're kind of all over the gaff, isn't they? I like the way they play Fulham but that's the way Spurs should play. Like with a Gallagher, with a fucking Odeberg, I don't know. I think Marco Silva is the answer. There you go. You heard it here first.
37:35Go and get Marco Silva. Before we move on to Liverpool. Leave my cottage as the loan. Fulham, that fucking Harry Wilson freak it by the way. What the hell is Verbruggen doing on that? Yeah, shocking. Also, Leno should have saved the Brighton one. They were getting mad about them goals. I was like, both of them should have been saved. Brighton and Fulham are such weird teams, aren't they? Always just lurking around. Fulham are good, man. Do you know what I mean? They're lurking. Fulham is atrocious. Brighton were unlucky, though. I thought they were the better team. I think... But Fulham are just...
38:09Fulham are just like... You forget about them for like four weeks and then you look at the table again. I don't know where the fuck they've came from here. Fulham remind me of like Charlton back in like the early 2000s where it was just every year 11th, 10th, they're just good like... But they're not getting a bit higher now. He'll drop off. Well actually I don't know with the way the fucking league is. Harry Wilson keeps playing. Aren't they trying to secure Oscar Bob as well before the window ends? That's good. And isn't Sterling meant to be linked with him as well? Yeah, he's holding off by a London move.
38:37He didn't want to go to Napoli because he wouldn't want to stay West London. That's such a Fulham signing, that is, Sterling, isn't it? You don't want to leave London, really. Because Troy O 'Reilly's going West Ham. Yeah, he's already gone. That's mental signing, mate. I don't know how to try... How does he keep fucking doing it? Is him and Brogia doing the head in? Mate, Brogia was all right the weekend. Fuck him. Fuck him. He's been all right. He's been okay for Burnley the last few weeks. Don't start. Don't start. This is why he keeps getting moved. Exactly. a job for us. Bernie will get another game.
39:05Towards the end of the season when it actually... Yeah. Bernie's going to go down and the next fucking newly promoted team is going to sign him. We'll have him. What about, guys, the shirt behind us, the cherries? Yeah. Game and half. That's a great game, isn't it? Liverpool, by the way, slot is doing my editing, by the way. The amount of excuses this guy comes up. You know how it was too windy at the weekend? Is that what he said? What did he say? Too windy? That's one out of I've not seen this. By the way, he was the only one Van Dijk was struggling with the wind. You can see throughout the game how much the impact the wind had.
39:36Can I say, the happiest thing for me this season has been here watching Liverpool. That's a load of bullshit because instead of just flying in a leg, it'd fucking get rid of the ball properly. How about that? Van Dijk was on that first goal. He moves out the... Not even that. He gets there. He doesn't mean to. He tries to kick it and misses it. Yeah, he hits the ball. But he moves out the way it looks like when he cuts it back. It's like he's going like... It's as if he doesn't think anyone's there. I thought Salah was so poor. Mate, the bloke can't kick a football. He's crap. He actually can't kick a football.
40:04It's kind of the end of the Klopp era team, isn't it? Van Dijk and Salah. Robertson going Spurs, isn't it? I think that was kind of Van Dijk and Salah's, wow, they really are passing. Do you know when Gary Neville's talking about the time where he knew he was done? Yeah. I think after that performance by Van Dijk, he went to see Sloth and he said the same thing. I don't think Van Dijk's done. I think the problem is Van Dijk. He doesn't make mistakes. Now he's making mistakes. He's still like up here, going from there to there. Everyone's like fucking up. He's still like one of the best in the league.
40:33My issue with the Van Dijk situation now is like, it's almost like his attitude's changed towards the game a little bit as well. Like in previous seasons, he'd try and be the guy to rectify things. But now you saw after the first goal, he's blaming everyone else. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He's probably coming to terms with maybe he's not up to his own stand. I saw a good tweet about Van Dijk at the weekend talking about his mistake here. is the level you have to be to be a Van Dijk, that upper echelons of a footballer, that mistake is such like a... It's not even enough. It's almost like a nothing...
41:04I know it led to a goal, but it's such an easy mistake to make. But we're now talking about Van Dijk being done from that small mistake. It's a build-up, though. It's a slow build-up mentality. I compare it to like Ferdinand. Do you remember when Ferdinand went from United to QPL? It was like embarrassing. Because I think those Rolls-Royces of defenders who rely on, they're too good, they're too fast, they're too, make everything look easy. Once your level, once your legs go a bit, or you just, your level naturally drops, you look so shit, because you're trying to make it look easy. Like that clearance, he's trying to be like, smart, and like, how about you just fucking edit, like, go through the ball, but when it doesn't come off, you look terrible, whereas like, I don't know, a Vidic or a Terry, who were just pure defenders, they would have just fucked that off, because they never tried to look like, cool, Liverpool got no wins in the last five yeah haven't won this year huh haven't won this year in the league seriously in the league but it's a huge win for Bournemouth though they went through a bit of a rough patch and I got two wins in the last three as well the cherries the cherries that is a monumental win how good by the way does Jimenez look on the right Semenya replacement already how good does he look he looks fucking sick great touch for the goal Semenya what a player what an absolute player do you think do you think the cherries are just going to be like yeah we sell all our best players but we don't care we'll keep moving forward eat some cherries and move on it'd be creepy next year wouldn't it yeah same for Arsenal same again they're just decent Slott is losing his head a little bit though he's always an excuse it's amazing it's amazing do you know why because he knows there's no excuse like you I've seen a compilation I've seen a compilation at the start from the start of the season of all the Liverpool fan channels and stuff and all them like bragging oh he's all shitting themselves and like loving it bigging up their sport and direction and all that and it's just so delicious.
42:54It tastes like the best steak you've ever had watching a bath. Yeah, so there is truth behind the Alonso thing. The Alonso. I think he'd be mad to get rid of Slott. I think they were squashed but apparently they are planning. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's on a season now. I think they'd be meant to get rid of him now. But the recruitment's been terrible, hasn't it? Kerk has again. Shocking the weekend. Got dragged. Slott said it's because we need to manage the minutes so he can play the best. Bullshit. He's crap. And then Wurtz, I feel like Wurtz is being like babbid. He's like, oh, he makes one good pass.
43:28Everyone's like, oh, yeah, you can see. He's£120 million player. Did you see the one when he's trying to play? Was it Salah through? Oh, mate. And he just fucking twats. I don't understand why he's not held to like the way Declan Rice was or like I say. It should be. £120 million. Everyone's like, oh, no, even I did it at the start. I was like, no, you can see. No, I need more from you. Yeah. How about that one first half when I think he beat someone, got to like the byline and then just like kicked it, just a shit passing. He's like, that's his bread and butter. Fucking Frimpong crap. He's a winger.
44:02He's not a right back. He's defensively. He's actually been crap and then he's out for the season. Ekotike's been hit and miss. I'd say that's been a success, but hit and miss for 80 million. But then he was rested. The whole, the recruiting was terrible. When's Leonie back? Sorry, when's Leonie back? He was good, wasn't he? He's ACL in here, I think. Yeah, he's out all season. The results sheet for when Gakpo starts compared to Gakpo not starting. So harsh. Have you seen that? Yeah, he doesn't. When Gakpo starts compared to when Gakpo doesn't start. And when he doesn't start, they've pretty much won every game.
44:35But when he starts, it's like draw, draw, loss, draw, draw. Have a look at it. It's because he just loves cutting in. Mr. Cutting himself. I just think, and I'm not sure if maybe Slott. it sounds harsh because obviously he did such a good job last year inheriting someone else's team and winning the league in his first season but he never really last season had a moment's worry no it was so plain yeah it was lovely and then as soon as they hit a bit of a a bad patch now they just I know their results have got better the last nine or so games but their performances haven't really I think they're just awful to watch they just feel like really slow and sluggish compared to like the Liverpool that you sort of remember when they were you can't successfully predict how they're going to do game by game nowadays which is just not what Liverpool are doing they're too susceptible at the back end they are I think they're just too easy to get at if teams like Bournemouth are scoring three they must kick themselves over that whole Gahey thing because like he could have solid a lot of stuff for them the cynics say he won with Klopp's team this is now his team that's such bullshit because the year before he come in they finished fourth didn't they or whatever it was so he didn't inherit a winning Premier League team.
45:47He improved it. That is harsh, but I don't think they'll sack him. No, they know where they're snacking. They're giving him the rest of the season. One manager we thought was going to get sacked, Nuno, at some point. Is he turning it around? They're giving it a go. The relegation battle is getting spicy. There's new signings looking alright as well. Some of them were crap, though. They're such a different team without Xhaka. They were like... Three games in a row they've won now, in all comps. Since November 2023. Do you know what? they were they were alright West Ham the weekend they were alright and Somerville was a leaping header yeah that was a nice header that as well great header Bowen was playing well for Nandes I was seeing a Tom yesterday that when he has a strike and it hits off the bar but meanwhile they're fucking scrapping scrapping meanwhile the ball rockets off the bar Nandes whacks it if that weren't you were hanging unbelievable I tell you what though I feel like imagine that hit the bar then come off off the back yeah there'd be few defenders to be fighting Yeah.
46:46He didn't even know what was going on. He was too busy trying to fight. That striker player was all right as well. He's good, mate. He's all right. I don't mind him. Fernandes was unreal again. Their best player. Do you think Leeds and Forest are looking a little bit... Who said otherwise? I said Bowen's been their best player this season. Fernandes has. And then I asked West Ham fans they all said Bowen as well. But Fernandes has been great. You asked one West Ham fan. You wanted to sell Bowen. Yeah, they should. You said they were going down. He just kept keeping them up. He's talismanic, doesn't he?
47:16oh that's a good bet I think they'll stay up I don't think we can buy into too much of this literally a week ago you said the dead who buried yeah I can't show a bet do I have to say the team that goes down or no no no no no I'll just give you I'll say West Ham go down and you say they don't no but out of kindness you say the team that's going down what no I'll just do the bet no yeah the bet's separate but I want to know who you think how much place them 50 quid how many bet we were losing track of who do you think it's going to go down in replacement I think it could be Leeds really not Leeds see I said Forrest when we did the the read your predictions I'm a secret iron so I got back the team why not anymore they're your rivals oh shut up Theo's a secret Fulham fan now well it's Derby it's a fucking London Derby um Forrest another win against a good Brenton side they're keeping relegation by the way just to let you do realize the bet you had with me and Theo the other week No.
48:16You had£20 and the Wolves will finish above West Ham. Did I put that on? With both of us, yeah. Oh, mate. Did I get good odds? No, just£20. That's a terrible deal by me. Okay, yeah, nice. Brentford had chances, though. Igor Jazeera's got us so well. That's such a good goal. Igor. He's shit defending. He's my guy. To let the ball in, then it's a terrible ball in. It loops in and the defenders just stand and watch him. Also, Erwonyi, he looks so much more athletic. leaner don't he he looks leaner he's skinnier he used to be tanky yeah he used to be big boy he took his goal he did well that goal very good goal I don't think Brentford were bad it's just like a classic just random Premier League result that's what keeps the season interesting those kind of results are what keeps the season interesting so true man that's why we fucking love the results that make you love football you know yes
49:16Chelsea's so comfortable against Palace yeah Palace are in disarray I know Water got sent off but I thought he was really poor he's been poor for a while he got turned by Gio Pedro he just looked a bit he looks off it doesn't he yeah best about took his goal well though I know it was a shit pass back I think the standard of Water at the moment just shows how how leggy Palace are yeah and the depth just isn't there that's the last thing they fucking needed though it's like who they got coming up now like this couldn't fucking how far are they off the drop? It's Europe man Europe's killing them Europe's killing them They've got Forest next in the league it's huge absolutely huge Forest away fucking hell really tough game Forest away then the derby against Brighton their next three games are huge can they not get some lawns through the door or something like this month and just get a bit of help they haven't won a league game since the 7th of December it's crazy Jesus Christ And then they've got walls, mate.
50:13Imagine after them four games, they come away with like one or two points. They're fucked. That last win would have been when Kamado was playing. Then he got injured like middle of December. I don't think there's a, I don't think there's a, I think there is a correlation of when Kamado got injured and Palace has formed it. But also like, just going back to what you said, them being in disarray, it kind of stems from the manager a little bit. He hasn't helped at all. I think he wanted out. When he had that thingy, I think he wanted to follow Armour and mount the door. He was trying to get sacked.
50:43Now he's fuming because he's stuck there. Mateta hasn't helped either. He doesn't look interested, does he? How's he not scored? Who's signing you, mate? And also, who the fuck do you think you am? You have three good months a season and you think you're Pele. You're going to fucking boil your head, you bold twat. Why are you laughing? boil your head. Boil. Why don't laugh at the twat? Sorry. What do we think of Tottenham Rossini mate he's doing alright over then the Arsenal game where they had no players and they actually did quite well he's doing alright he hasn't had a hard run of fixtures in fairness and I must admit it gets even easier for Chelsea they were they were poor against Paphos in the week I watched that game and I don't know if they got their win but Chelsea fixtures are so good for them Napoli away West Ham is it Napoli away West Ham at home Arsenal away then Premier League fixtures coming up are ridiculously good for them.
51:40I don't want to not give him credit and stuff, but I do think teams like Chelsea, teams like United, it's not that difficult of a job. Play Esteval. Yeah, like you've got good players. You should be able to beat teams like Palace. You just should. Just win. Just put the ball in the net. Put the ball in the net and strike it in the net. Just shoot. Fucking idiot. But just talking on Palmer, I know I brought him up a little bit earlier, but do you think this groin injury is going to hinder his World Cup chances? Because people are saying that he should have just had surgery all the way back then.
52:09Well, a bit of inside info. Here we go. Is he getting operated on? No. So, a certain person I know who obviously does, like, presenting and stuff like that, was it, did the Chelsea, did the Chelsea game on Wednesday and was told by Rosinia, no, no, Palmer's not in the squad today, just precautionary, he'll be back for Palace on Sunday. The injury's fine. And he wasn't in the squad again. So, it's worse than I think people. Oh yeah, of course It's definitely worse Than them making out But what I don't get is Why? Why are they making it out? Why don't they just come out And go No, he's got He's got to have surgery Or he's got to have this I don't know why Because with groins And this is what makes me think They're trying I think they're trying to sell him No, I don't know what it is I think Man United Are going to sell him The groins are As I've had a lot of groin issues With my hip You can play on a groin injury But they're just making it worse And any time he's played This season It's so obvious He's not fit it's so obvious and this ain't me trying to defend his poor performances because he has been poor but I think it's it's obvious he's not fit you can play for a groin injury but then the days following it takes so long to recover and then you're back so you're injured recover injured play so surely they go right you're out until you're back you're out until it's fully back how do you rehab a groin how do you rehab it like hula hoops not rubbing hula hoops just rubbing at this current moment in time just call Palmer go to the World Cup as a start in 11 not start Rodgers will start tomorrow like no what injuries aside yeah I wouldn't have him he'll be in the squad yeah he'll be in the squad but he doesn't start if it's recurring he could be it'd be Rodgers because he's better than Benningham like I said months ago that was a good call wasn't it that be honest just like Benningham is worse than Bray well career wise he definitely is no we talk about that at the time it's more years ago Is that all the games?
54:06That's football talk. That's what the Premier League review. That's football. We haven't done Fulham Brighton. Yeah, we did. We've done Fulham Brighton. Yeah, we did. Harry Wilson's going to be short. That was the Premier League review, everyone. Make sure you send dick pics to Theo's Instagram, at Theo Baker. Please don't do that, though. Please don't do that. I beg you, don't do that. Go follow Teed Off on Instagram. Yeah, nice. Right, moving on. We are going to do now our 10 worst Premier League January signings ever because we did the best ones last week. and you all loved it so much. And that means this week we did worse.
54:38Both of my hands are here. So what's that? Oh. Don't you worry. And I'm going first this time. No, you're not. I'm not going first in bloody ages. No, no, no. I'm going to go first. It is true. You go first and one out every two segments. No, don't. I'm going to go first because I'm just one-upped you. I'm just big-dogged you. I only did it off. I've just out for mail, Jeff. Sit down, little boy. Anti-football man. Yeah, I knew this couldn't bring the speech up again. You back in it. Right. I'm going to go straight in at the deep end I had to bring an Albion player into this but I don't know if you lot will remember this we signed Daniel Sturridge in January I do remember that for one season and we thought we're safe I think two games in didn't play another game because he got injured how much did you sign for?
55:21he's on loan that's why he's 10th yeah I've got my loan number nine I didn't realise this and I completely forgot about him still a sign loan's still a sign do you know who I'm going to say here Leicester player Christensen Yes. He's higher for me, but yeah. 23 million they're signing for. He was there for six months, went to Bologna, then just never played again. How much did he go to Bologna for? And to add to that, Leicester were relocated. Wait, the centre half? No, left back. How much did he get sold for? At the time, he was the most expensive Danish outport. Super League export, yeah. How much did he get sold for, do you know?
55:52Not a lot, I don't think. He played like two games, then got sent off to Italy. Nice. And then come back. and then come back and was... Wait, did you not research? When you're a Leicester fan. Oh, yeah. That's the joke I was trying to make. Number eight. Go on.
56:37Do you know what I'm going to say? right? Do you want some extra info about that transfer? Yeah. Previous to, well, the window before he was available for free. Yeah, he was. And the transfer was so bad, it got investigated. Three months before he was going to be inside. I can barely remember that era of Newcastle because I was so young, but I just remember Boomsong and shit. Him and Capasa, I just remember both those being shit. And Albert Luque. You had some shitters back then. Why do you remember Boomsong so much? Name. His name, and he did come with a big reputation and back then that was a lot of money 8 million is quite a lot of money shame as dog shit 7th I've gone St.
57:13Tosin for Everton 27 million and he was do you remember that classic video where Rondon's coming off and he's coming on and it's like the worst substitution of all I want one for one number 6 I've got Chris Samba going back to the Everton their number 9s over the years have been so there was a few West Ham I could have put in here you know when he signed for Cooper they put him 100 grand a week and they signed him for 12 million fucking hell that's more than research look at this brain box in his class mate Red Knapp then resigned a few days later they got relegated and he fucked Cooper for years that did those transfers the amount of money they spent they were living in that period though he told the fans to get over it they lived the dream they lived the dream you know he told the fans to get over it he said we shouldn't be putting players on high wages they then signed Chris Sambo on 100 grand he told them to get over it at the same time with it like Julio Cesar and all that is like mental did Samba come from Russia at that point then he went back to Angie McAulacala and now they don't exist yeah they don't exist anymore it's mad fifth Wilfried Zaha to Man United yeah yeah it just didn't really cost much did he at that point he did cost a bit did he he played four times and then went on loan back to Palace straight away then went on loan to Cardiff then back to Palace and then back to Palace yeah he loves Palace number four I've only put he could be higher and I think you lot may have him higher but he did have some moments.
58:37I went Torres. It's got to be higher. I think the three above were worse. Yeah. I had an argument for top three interchangeable. He's got 20 goals in three seasons. And in the semi-final goal. No, but he scored some big goals for them. He did. I know, I know. He wasn't... That's Torres, mate. I know he had a bit of a dip towards the end of Liverpool but he was arguably one of the best strikers in the world. Not when they signed him he wasn't. He was crap. It was really like... Do you know what? It didn't do him any things. They signed him a year too late. Do you know what he didn't do anything?
59:06He kept missing sitters. Yeah. No, it was actually confusing to watch. He kept missing like open cards. But he did have moments. That's why he's fourth. Third I've gone Andy Carroll. Yeah. Because the amount they spent on him at the time. 35 million. He just came from the championship essentially. That's like 80 million now. It's fucking insane. Second I've gone Alexis Sanchez to Man United. And first. I know what you're going to say. Ballon d 'Or. I've never said he was going to miss. Yeah, you did. You did. You did. You said it. Ballon d 'Or shot Who is it? Who is it? Because he dribbled past James Milner in a 0-0 He looks so sharp He's just a bit raw He's too raw By the way I didn't realise He signed in January Do you know why?
59:44That game against Liverpool In my head Was like in the summer No it's night time What? No it was It was when James Milner Was playing right back But it was like I think it was one of them Classic January days It was bright and sunny Do you know what All his highlights Nuzreko for West Ham No Mudrick Yay All his highlights At Shakhtar or wherever it was all at night so that's his winter signing oh yeah because of winter sun 89 million points of God's I got a couple few different names and different orders for stuff as well 10th I got Veghorse to Burnley yeah 2 goals in 22 games they needed a striker and he did not solve the problem do you know funny about that as well when he went when he went on loan to remember your road to glory around him I loved King Veghorse is like he's so good he went on loan to hang on who is it Besiktas and Hoffenheim he actually scored like quite a few goals had a good rep coming in but then obviously he went on loan good for Holland as well and then when he went on loan to United apparently he's been voted the worst signing ever for United for Man United which is a bit harsh I think it's a bit harsh that is harsh well that in Jembers didn't score a league goal for United did he no he didn't score he played like most of the games as well number nine my loans are quite low down because I feel like it's a little bit unfair I've got Pato to Chelsea okay I didn't really put loans two appearances two appearances and then straight back to Brazil but because it's a loan it was probably like a decent fee with that as well like a pat on loan I imagine the 300 grand yeah they wouldn't have spent a bit of money on that number 8 based on Arsenal history Kim Kallstrom joined spent 6 months there made 3 appearances he actually got signed with an injured back during his medical and they signed him anyway he's on a free though wasn't he yeah but I mean he's still a loan you try and get someone into solving midfield problem and it's just oh was he loan oh sorry I thought I thought he was permanent.
1:01:32Seven, just because the result wasn't what they were trying to buy. Wilford Boney to Man City. 35 million quid. Yeah, didn't score the goals that he did at Swansea. I think Pep... Did Pep buy him? No, what? I think Pep was... What the fuck have you just said? No, Pep played under... He played under Pep. At Man City? He played under Pep at Man City. No, but Pep did not buy Boney. He played under Pep at Man City. Pep didn't buy Boney. That would be mental. 15-16 when did Pep come in that year 16 wasn't it no he come in 15-16 I feel like in my head he can't even help you are you fucking playing under Pep he might be right and Pep was like get out of my club he didn't he didn't was Pep the year after Pep joined the year after Leicester won the league and then he didn't win in his first season because Conte won it you're wrong this was his first season 2016 17 was his first season because Conte won the league yeah Yeah, the rest of it.
1:02:29They all just accept it. And then he got rid of Bordie that summer. Wait, you should type in Pep Guardia under managing. He played under Pep because Pep got rid of him. So he didn't play under him? Short answer, no, Chachiwiti just said. I think he did. I thought Guardia... No, he's changing the size. He doesn't want to judge Chachiwiti anymore. There you go. Yeah, Pep came in 2016. He overlapped on paper, but they didn't do it on the pitch. He left in the summer of 2016 because Pep got rid of him when he joined. Did he play under Pep? Yeah, but he got rid of him. he was at the club at the same time you started I'm sorry you started I'm sorry you started I signed him and now all of a sudden yeah you said he signed him they were both employed by Man City at the same time that wasn't your argument okay right let's carry on they both they both went in the same entrance door I've got the same names different order now so there's no real no one changed sixth I've got Boom Song fifth I've got Andy Carroll fourth Victor Christensen he's not worse than Carroll 23 mil oh no but for But Carroll was 35 10 years before.
1:03:30No, I know. And Suarez was signed on the same day that Andy Carroll was. Did you know that? Yeah. I remember the photo they had together. No, but I'm saying if you pay 23 mil for the most expensive export from Denmark, and then you get to that as Carroll. In relativity, Carroll was like 70, 80 million in that money. And he didn't do anything for them, really. And was terrible. That's my opinion. I think he really struggled to get rid of them as well. Yeah. I mean, he played what? like three games and then you got 23 mil. Oh, right. That's quite impressive and then you get relegated after paying that much money.
1:04:01You got relegated. Third Sanchez to United swap deal. Does anyone remember his piano announcement? Yeah, it was embarrassing. You know, he apparently He never wanted to go, did he? Within a week, he was like, send me back to Arsenal. Yeah. Because Arsenal are just such a good club. The dogs didn't want to be there. They didn't like the weather. What, Wynn? No, Alexis' dogs. I've heard Wynn's dead. That can't be true. Surely not. Don't tell me like that on a Monday morning. What's that? Is this dog scored again? Jesus. There's two of them in there. Lose and Bottle. Oh, brilliant. Go on then. He actually didn't really do that.
1:04:32Torres to Chelsea in two and then Mudrick first. Very good list. I shall continue with I don't think any different I've got one different him in here. Valt, Weghorst, 10th. I can't stand him. Fuck him. Oh, he's a fucking legend. Who's not? 9th. Boney to City. Obviously, Pep Guardiola brought him in. Terrible sign by him. No, he didn't bring him in. Was Boney that bad? 35 million. The player that they wanted. Get his stats. I'm not... If you defend him, I think you might defend the next player. I'm not questioning you. I'm just not sure. Yeah, that's pretty bad. Yeah. Six scores of 36 games. I think you might defend this next day.
1:05:07That's like Jokeres level, isn't it? I suppose. Because next on the list, I've actually went Alfonso Alves to Borough. I don't know if you remember. No, his record wasn't that bad. I remember at the time I have my best name. He scored a hat-trick once and then that was it. It was against City in the 8-1, wasn't it? No, I remember my best it's not Al is this when you were supporting them no but best it's a verified I remember he signed him and he was like yeah this guy is going to be fucking unbelievable he was shit mate that's not that bad it is shit 10 in 42 he was shit I remember he was a lot of money at the time he was so expensive at the time he came with a massive he was a lot of money at the time that first season he got 6 goals in 11 games how much was he her and Veen were like at that time they had like Hunt a lot come through they had quite a lot of strikers he scored loads of goals in the shit league didn't they 12 million in Because at the time as well, Berra didn't make signings of like this as well.
1:05:59It's like... Yeah, they did. Like, Giannino, Ravinelli. I just remember... Goro were known for signing him. Didn't Southgate sign him? Possibly. Yeah, it would have been. I just remember at the time, you used to work it out, and it was like, yeah, it's two million per goal at this point. They signed him, and he's got six and 11. Yeah, no, but then he was shit. Didn't they sign him? I don't know. I think that's harsh. He's got one and two. The first season was there. I agree it's probably harsh. This is more from like, I just remember from childhood. Hang on, this bloke has come to the Premier League and got six goals since January.
1:06:25He wasn't a successful signing. No, I'm not claiming he's successful, but to put him in the top 10 is a bit harsh. Yeah, fuck him. He's still our second most expensive signing ever. Jesus. Ekeog for 12 million in 2001. Jesus. Jordan Rose. Jordan Rose. Fuck you, Jesus. Frey Frey. Richest fuller. No, he definitely wasn't a success with the reputation he had. I think it's more from my memory of he was good on FIFA though and he had nice boots was he good on FIFA Lewis I remember Middlesbrough fans going mad about it in the North East it was quite a big thing no it was a massive sign my mate wouldn't shut the fuck up about him and then he went on to be shielded didn't he score like eight goals in one game for here and Veen yeah so he had a mad record there ridiculous anyways seventh quadrado quadrado to Chelsea yes I think I've got that one down did no one else have that already nah He started four games for Chelsea.
1:07:19This wasn't it, was it? It was weird. He wasn't a lot of money though, was he? He was 23 million quid. I thought he was like 12. He was 23 and he got loaned to Juventus at the end of the season in the summer. He was good there, wasn't he? Yeah. And then a year later he went back to Juventus permanently. Yeah. It was a bad one. And when he signed in January, do you know who went the other way? Who? Salah. On loan. To where? To Roma? Guarantino, is it? Guarantino, I think. sixth I went Sam Berta QPR fifth Boom Song fourth Sanchez third Carol did you hear the story about Carol signing to West Ham actually no go on so like Sam Allardyce was like he was injured friend of the show Carol was injured and he's like oh but it's such a good deal and so they decided to get him in and he's like yeah we'll get him in he'll work hard he was known as a party goer and then like a week later he was on holiday you could see him he was drunk on a street just like fucking I saw him in Canary Wharf Breakfast Club when he was at West Ham Just totally randomly Did you say hello?
1:08:18Nah I saw him the other day Andy Carroll? Yeah in Westfield Shelby told a story The other No It was with his kids Shelby told a story The other week About him and Having a fight On a night out In Newcastle And apparently Jeff Hendrick was in the corner Probably just blazed Are you going to stop anything here? And he's like Just let him have it He's blazed Apparently he had like Snussing and everything Snuss back then? Yeah What? What? Yeah. This would have been on his second, when he came back. What year would this be? When he came back? What year? 2017? Yeah. No, it was later than that. Can't be that popular.
1:08:54Unless there's any Swedes. Were there any Swedes at Newcastle at that point? By the way, Snus has been around for ages. Yeah, I know, but not really in the UK, has it? How long has Craft been at the club? No, it has. When did Andy Carroll return? Yeah, 2020. 2019, 2020. I can't imagine people doing that seven years ago. 100%. You reckon? Yeah. In Sweden? Snus was a massive thing when... Especially when you have lots of... When I was a D2 athlete. Especially when you have lots of different... I thought 2018. You have lots of different nationalities coming into the club as well, don't you? That's what we're saying!
1:09:21So you'll have Snusky Conkani. We were just cross-referencing, didn't we? Second Torres first, Mudrick. Harsh on Mudrick. We're going to have to get the VAR TikTok account to figure out if he had Snusky in or not. That's what Shelves said. Shelvesdog wouldn't lie. Shelvesdog. He also said that Rafa Benitez went over to Cardalo's plate. He said, oh, is that a shrimp? He picked up, bit half of it, then put it back on the same plate. Why would he do that? I don't know. How do you know this? Alpha male. See what he said on the book? Alpha moves, that is. I'm the manager. Alpha moves. Right, so my turn, eh?
1:09:51Let's go. We've all said all the names, except one. Ooh. I got BoomSung. Eight million from Rangers. Shit, wasn't he? Nine. Zaha won. I remember this Zaha won. Everyone was like, he's going to be fucking so good. Yeah, it was a big deal. It was such a... It was 10 million quid. He only had to pay it only four times. Yeah. And just go straight back on. Should they not stick it out with him? A little bit. No, because maybe they signed him, they sent him back to Palace on loan, didn't they? Yeah. That week. That week. And then they sent him on loan in the summer, and then he just went back to Palace.
1:10:19Yeah. And he went to Cardiff as well on loan, didn't he? I then got Quadrado. I think that's a disgrace signing. In seven, I got Vekhorst. In six, this is the researched one. Obviously, Guido Carrillo, the Southampton player. Yeah. I saw him come up on the things, but I don't remember him. No, I didn't remember it. but when I looked into it no but I said this you shouldn't have said that you could have played others I read into it and I thought that's fucking awful 19 million quid he was used as part of the Van Dyke money yeah he he never scored for them and then he left on loan that summer yeah and gone yeah and gone and gone and gone never scored 19 million quid that's a lot of money that's a lot throw it out in the fucking pan isn't it just go yeah 20 million quid gone and plus the wages yeah I saw him but I just don't remember him I thought I had to put him because obviously South Africa's probably livid it's quite high then if you didn't it's awful it's awful no I mean you put him quite high on your list in five I've got Andy Carroll in four I've got Chris Samba as we previously discussed I think Samba's worse than Carroll mate he was 100 grand a week so was Carroll at QPR it's Liverpool Football Club yeah but they lived the dream he ruined QPR they lived the dream they had Cesar at one point It was all mental I had carried a fifth mate So I'm not even going to They got relegated that season Yeah no yeah yeah They got relegated They had like Like Remy What time for QPR Granero It was mental wasn't it It was like Ferdinand They couldn't afford The biggest players But they were like Let's get all these names Cesar's the craziest one I think He was alright for them though But why is he at QPR Wasn't he I loved London Now who else did they get There's another big name That they got in defence I can't remember It was like Fernand No Amber Or midfield They had like a big fucking name No no It was like Italian.
1:12:10Who? Did they get Cambiasso? Yeah, that was Leicester. Leicester. Friend of the show, actually. Shall we have a look at the QPR? Yeah, no, it was Leicester who got Cambiasso on it. He's a friend of the show. All right, carry on. Three, I got Alexis Sanchez. I think that was such a... 400 grand a week he was on at United as well. Who was? Alexis Sanchez. He read Greg Gissel. Granero. Tell Ben Haim. Ben Haim. Genus. I forgot Genus. This was... Poilet. It's the Zard Buswinger party song. Yeah, it was unreal period of football. Think about all the wages they're locked on. Andy Johnson as well. Not the fees, it's the wages, isn't it?
1:12:45Fuck yeah. I just enjoyed that period. They were fun to play on at FIFA. It's just a team of streets won't forget. It's just random, wasn't it? Yeah, if you ever played with like a four-star team. It was like a FIFA team. It's just not the players you want when you're in a relegation pod. Not at all. They do not give a single fuck. I'm surprised your franchise weren't on that list with his relationship with Redknapp. He did sign for QPR. But not in this team. I think it was the year before Andy Johnson as well knocking about Jibro Cissé out on loan he was already at the team Cissé DJ Campbell Robles I forgot he was there what a tie for football that was yeah the Sanchez we got Mkhitaryan in return didn't we he was alright for us you got the better end of that didn't you we got a better player than Sanchez was I just I can't believe I can't believe the drop off he had Sanchez it was bonkers wasn't it what the fuck Two, I've got Torres.
1:13:36You know he had more appearances for Chelsea and Liverpool? Did he really? And had a third of the goals. He was all right. He wasn't... A third of the goals. It was more to him. Do you remember seeing the side-by-sides of... It was like Torres at Liverpool and then Torres at Chelsea and it'd be the exact same position. He'd score for one and then he'd hit like 10 yards wide. I don't think there's many examples of a player with confidence and without confidence and how much of an impact it has. Yeah, good point. 50 million quid in that line. Can I ask you a question, Torres? just thinking about it do you think he'd look back at Liverpool better than Chelsea even though he won all the trophies at Chelsea yeah definitely he'd rather have his individual years than his medals do they still like him yeah they love to fuck him off yeah they like him how much is 50 million quid in this day and age 100 mil 130 probably when was that 2010 something like that 2011 you're looking at 130 million type it in actually you can do the football inflation yeah and then one obviously I have Madrid 89 million pounds to get banned for four years and his number he actually doesn't have a squad number yeah well he's not he's going to be he's going to be a sprinter aren't he he's a Ukrainian sprinter he's going to win the basketball 160 million euros that's actually a really good way of measuring things yeah in the Starwood Olympics he told us 160 million euros one player who I've I don't think he's mentioned Kostas Mitroglu yeah I saw him come up yeah he played what was it 13 million he was bad yeah the striker he was bad you won't remember him because he never played he's Fulham wasn't it yeah record signing I always remember him yeah he was so bad he looks like Nick Kyrgios Fulham coming three goals zero goals three games zero goals three goals zero games goal a game let us know if we have missed out any players maybe from your club let us know your club's worst ever transfer in January Cisco except it wasn't in January can you remember no he's going for Man United I suppose it's Sesco.
1:15:35Can you remember Sesco that we got? Oh, X-I-S-C-O. That was a Mike Ashley business deal. X-I-S-C-O. The one with the big hair from Borough? I can't remember. I couldn't tell you what he looks like because he came in and went on loan back to the same team he signed for for three seasons in a row, what it felt like. This is around the time you signed Boom Song, like you signed Albert Luque. This is what got Keegan while he left. Because Sesco just arrived at training and he's like, I didn't fucking ask for this guy. he was there he was there for five years played nine games scored one goal yeah he just got loaned back out every year he actually has a good record though across his career does he?
1:16:13some players that we signed him from the owners of the team we signed him from I'm sure had like a business deal with Ashley it was some bullshit 1-3 is alright yeah but he's playing in like the second division in most places yeah I know it man La Liga and all that anyways moving swiftly on to our current underrated 11 now last week We did our overrated 11 Which Just doing the reverse Of last week guys I don't think I like my list Go on you go first I hate my list Okay In goal I've got Dubravka I went the same He faces so many shots He is good man He gets so much shit Because he's Dubravka I don't Newcastle United Just a quick question Just a quick question Do you agree with that Because when we did Our most important players At the club A lot of us said Dubravka was the most Important player Yeah but If we ever rank goalies I struggled with the goalie I mean I agree it's the hardest position I nearly went Sanchez but I personally don't think he's underrated but I watched him so like yeah so I was like that's not a fair thing for the majority I think wider fans probably dismiss him he's a very good shot stuffer and noticeable against Spurs absolutely he's good man he's good right back I actually think this guy might be top three right backs in the league Mateus Nunes yeah I've gone the same his delivery at the weekend was sensational Do you think he's underrated?
1:17:32I think he still is. I think everyone talks about Rhys James and Timber, but he's right up there. And the fact that he's adapted to right back as well, man. Pep coaching, man. I don't deny it. I think he's a great shout-out, but yeah. I do think he gets... We like him, though. No, I know, but I think he gets left... He should be right up there with, like, team of the year. I agree. I know. You notice when he wasn't in the team. He's classy, man. City did look exposed. I know he got Gay in, but, like, Rico Lewis was performing poorly and then Nunes comes in and just bang. Not even a natural right back, yeah.
1:17:59Centre halves, I've got Calvin Bassi and Alderetti. I know he had a poor game at the weekend, but in general, I feel like it's like Muciele sort of gets the plaudits or Russ and Alderetti goes... Well, Dan Ballard, it was one of the centre halves, I thought. I thought Alderetti just goes a little bit under the radar. Rives gets a lot of credit. I do think, I kind of hear that. I think Ballard gets a lot of the praise because he was unexpected. Yeah. But Alderetti's, I think, their best centre half. Yeah. I'll just clip my back. Left back, it may be, well, it's current, isn't it? I guess maybe a bit of recency bias and he's not a left back, but I've fitted him into the team.
1:18:34Dorgu. Yeah. People just thought he was a bit mental at the start and like, is he all that? They're cutting it on now though, aren't they? Yeah. Like Ballon Dorgu stuff. Ballon Dorgu. It may be calculated craziness, I'm getting. If he scores again next week in Fulham, mate, he's going to be like, rated. Well, he's injured. He pulled his hamstring. Apparently it was cramp. Oh, he's sort of heard. Well, I don't know. Look, anyway, we'll see. midfield three of Alex Scott I've spelled his name wrong but Kamada I think you noticed we already talked about him before you noticed Palace got considerably worse without him and then this guy always crops up when we do underrated so maybe he's not underrated anymore it won't be he's missed the consistency he does just get forgotten yeah the amount we do these lists do you know what I mean but he is underrated because he's just so consistent he's so consistent for years as well in the Prem he's been doing it for years a real professional a real professional Alex front three of Kevin Sharder.
1:19:28Yes. I think he's so inconsistent though. I think he's horrendously underrated. They never signed him four years ago. He's either. He's injured for the whole season. He's only 24 as well. He's either amazing or terrible. He's actually got a good record at Brentford as well, you know. When I think of it, all the prodders always go Dango and Thiago nowadays. I just think he's I just think he's really good No yeah I hear it He's fast He's fast as fuck With returning goals I've got Left wing I have got Trossard But maybe he's not underrated When people are starting to come around How important he is to Arsenal I don't mind that I think of Yeah I think he's now Sipped into being rated But it's not a bad one But I don't even know if he If you're on the brink You can still class him Yeah I still think Trossard's A bit underrated Yeah The amount of goals he gets Is around important goals He's clutch man He's clutch You may disagree with me, guys, because you may think he's arguably the best striker in the league.
1:20:26But I have got Calvert-Lewin. He's been written off so many times. Yeah, he's had a good spell. So many times. And we always say how good of a finisher he is, but he just can't do it. Wait, no, the opposite. No, no, no, no. You need to learn how to finish. He's got all the attributes but can't finish. But now he's doing it. He's finally becoming... The best striker in the world. The best striker in the world. he's going to win us the World Cup the picture of Calvert-Lewin hold the World Cup is going to happen how good is Calvert-Lewin? I have a quick question for you because I'm pretty sure last season or season prior you said he was over right?
1:21:01it's current no I know but I'm saying you're allowed to change your opinions within two years because I didn't see the light so it's just based on his performances yes that's why we're doing it no I'm only I can only create a little bit of discourse unfortunately I can only base all these lists off people's performances but do you Theo can you not remember a few weeks ago where you were saying about Calvert-Lewin and how he was going yeah yeah but now I'm starting to see the light and I think maybe you guys were onto something I think he could takes a man to admit I like that I apologise I'm sorry Calvert Calvert Lewis Calvert I don't like my team okay it's quite complimentary though Sanchez in goal he has been good this season yeah that's what I mean I always whenever I just think of him I just think he's shit he's not allowed to speak but he is good right this one you're going to shout at me I think he's underrated underrated I think yeah because everyone calls him shit but he's playing well there you go then he's playing well he's been good this season it's my Lloris agenda this one's more personal from me it's not the vast majority I was just personally wrong on this Rhys James I thought he was just fucking like he was just decent now Rhys James is underrated just said he's just by you you only yeah by me he's now saying he's way better than he gave him credit for he is no shit yeah but of course it wouldn't be an underrated 11 without Tarkowski being in that and I've decided to put Keane next to him as well those two are great pair I think you put the wrong one in I think Michael Keane is really underrated I think he gets a lot of the slack do you know what it is he's actually really solid a completely different Everton centre back there.
1:22:49Sorry, quickly on the Keane thing. We'll go on that though. The way I think you are all right is that we constantly talk about when Bramflete's back, it'll be Keane who drops. He's been better than Torkowski lately. I don't think Bramflete, I think we all struggle to get back on the team. I just thought, look, they're both not sexy players. Yeah, Keane's got like Keane. He's been popping up with goals as well. Torkowski's pretty sexy. Yeah, he can be. He's got big legs. Left back, this is, might have aged better this a couple weeks ago because I think people are catching on but I have put Lewis Hall because he is just the best left back up there probably he's one of the best left backs in the league I don't think he's under people always say that well the conversation was and this is what I mean you've been catching on the last couple of weeks the conversation is you should be starting for England the conversation was how Lewis Skelly was better than him though when?
1:23:36on this very podcast this is more you're going like a year ago he hasn't played mate you're just doing it I think though the wider conversation was it's only been the last few games where like Lewis Hall's had But Lewis Gale was better last year though. That's not like being... No, I always... Lewis Gale has had his applauded this season. Rightfully so, by the way. Where do you rate Lewis Hall? I think he's the best at the minute. Best left back. In England. Okay, fair enough. English, sorry. No, not in the Premier League. Where do you rate him in the Premier League? I think he's second or third.
1:24:03I put him... I think Cucurella's still better than him. Yeah, I agree. And I think... I don't know. I don't know. I genuinely don't know. I have a genuine question. When the time of the World Cup comes around, do you reckon it's Nico O 'Reilly or Lewis Hall? Lewis Hall. This itself makes me feel like he's underrated because it isn't a question. I didn't say Lewis Hall. O 'Reilly's been really good. And he's versatile. I think it's so tall to be fair. Yeah, so is Lewis Hall. I think it has to be... Well, that for itself makes me want to back back into he definitely is underrated because I don't personally think there's a debate there.
1:24:35All right, man. As things currently stand. I think you can have a debate. He's just... Do you know what it is? I think Lewis Hall is the better. he's probably our most composed player on the ball and one of our most technically gifted on the ball with how he can like just move his body and just shake it around is that an issue for Newcastle if you're the best technical player is your left back no it doesn't mean you don't have other technical players yeah he didn't used to play like midfield he was like a 10 when he was growing up I think that's what always happens to doesn't it right off the back of a recent conversation that we found on this pod James Garner yep I've got him he's been unbelievable but still when it comes to England conversations there's no chance for him that's my exact reasoning yeah nice yeah don't mind it high five my G I knew he was going to do that and then went also Miley and Ampadu I've got Ampadu I put Miley in as well I think he's horrendously underrated by people who don't watch Newcastle I think he's been probably your best player this year I can tell you as well the reason he's also underrated is he's actually like his personality Miley is really quiet and he's not in your face.
1:25:42He's not really like, he just goes about his stuff so he's not in headlines and stuff. But you see, just going back to Garner, I think players like Maynou and Miley are the reason he won't be in the England conversation and Anderson and Warton. Unfortunately for Garner, he's got too many better players ahead of him. I think, realistically, if we went tomorrow, who would you rather be in the squad, Miley or Garner? You're not picking Garner. And the thing is, if you bring Miley as well, it's still underrated though. No, no, I know, but I think that's probably why he gets forgotten for England. And with Miley, now, because of recent weeks where you've seen him, he can play right back and centre back as well.
1:26:16He's really good. That's exactly what Garner's doing. Appreciate how good this guy is. I think Bruno gets all the applaudings. I think people talk about Tonali. I know he's dropped off this season. No one really goes... Even Lewis Hall, Livermento, when Miley, even at right back, has been their best player. Even when he has a chance, he takes it. He almost scored the head in the weekend, but he scored a similar one a few weeks back. And in that game, Our delivery was piss poor. And the only guy who actually put a good couple of balls in was Miley when he went out to the right. Yeah, he's really good.
1:26:46Future captain. I've also went then Harry Wilson, Wilson and Buendia. That's my front three. Harry Wilson? Do you think he's underrated? Again, it's bad, but like... He's full of talisman now, isn't he? Do we not still think there's an element of... Harry Wilson's not underrated. He's not underrated now. Everyone's talking about him. Yeah, but... Yeah, yeah. He's not underrated. I don't think Callum Wilson. He's a bit past it now, mate. I think Callum Wilson... I think that's why he's underrated why is he underrated how good is Callum Wilson that comment of him being past it I disagree I think he's still very he's far past his best Callum Wilson he's still scored he's scored five goals at West Ham this season that's what I'm saying I know and he's scored five goals he's an incredible sub you know what I mean I know but they're trying to get rid of him and through the limited minutes that he's got in a very piss poor side he's got five goals like this guy but how good is he then if he's underrated how good is he he's a very good Premier League player who's they shouldn't be getting rid of well I don't know what do you want to be top 10 I think there's a reason they went and signed two strikers in Jan and that do you know what I mean he's past his best top 25 in the league no he's past his best I don't know I'd have to make a list wouldn't I I imagine so he's better but one thing I can tell you he's better than Jokeres mate 1000 % 1 million percent don't get 90 minutes out of him but I say yeah well that's I think that's even more impressive I think bringing him on in the last 30 he's such a useful that's what his job is now though I don't think I think he's good.
1:28:10He's well-rated as a great impact. I don't think he's underrated. But they're trying to get rid of him. Because it's a waste of wages, isn't it? His wages is performance-based. I don't think that's true. I think that's a rumour. Well, apparently. Fucking shoot me. I've got Blendea one as well. I'm sure you're going to argue mine anyway. Similar to Miley, where there's a lot of people getting props in that team. It's pretty expensive, isn't it, Blendea? I'd go the other way with Blendea. I think he's a bit overrated. I think he come with a big reputation when he went to Villa and he's injured for a long time I just think he's like a nice player luxury player nice guy I don't think he's no I think he's better than a luxury player I think he's decent but he's playing well though at the moment he was bought supposed to be the the talisman almost for Villa wasn't he that's kind of just but like he's still he's still like Morgan Rodgers has taken that spot but he's still there happy to support Rodgers wasn't knocking around when he originally signed do you know what he's doing he's not coming in saying it's all about me he's like I understand Dan, you're Robbie Williams.
1:29:09Let me be the guitarist. You're saying Buendia could break America? The guitarist didn't take that. Yeah, who's that? None of them. It's a boy band, mate. So did he take America, though? Huh? Right, go on, Reid. As I said, I struggle with the goalkeeper. But I've gone Kelleher. I think he's still a little bit underappreciated. I've seen overrated, eh? You think Kelleher's overrated? Fuck him. I think he's just rated, eh? I think I overrated him from Liverpool. I don't think he's underrated. Like, everyone was like, when he filled in for Alisson. How much did they sign him for? 30 mil? 30 mil. I thought we can't do it all off practice that's a great signing what goalie everyone at Liverpool is like he needs to be playing first team football every week yeah I know but he can't get more underrated than that now it's always going to be once he got that first team football we talked about how he needed to play first team football and he went and played first team football and doing a good job so this is where I say so he was coming in for the best keeper in the world at the time and then doing great yeah and then when he actually finally left those odd cameos in cup competitions then he goes to a full first team football that's where you actually see it in levels and I don't think that level is as good as this level because naturally yeah no but it wasn't it's not what we saw at Liverpool because it was those unique scenarios and it was a thing hella hurt how often do you watch Brentford?
1:30:18yeah there is a reason why they're doing well this season every single week they're challenging top four with him in goal yeah they're fucking yeah and he's saved multiple penalties no he's good I just don't think I think he's I feel like if anything we probably have overrated him from that period okay they're ahead of you I thought he was top four goalkeepers in the world when he was at Liverpool. In the world? I'm joking. Jesus. He might have been the best second keeper though at that point. Yeah. Well, since he's left, Liverpool are shit so coincidence? I think not. Can't be zero to zero. Zero for one it would be.
1:30:48Sorry. Right back have gone Jadon Bogle. I think he's actually a lot better than his previous Premier League reputation's given him credit for. I didn't think he'd be good enough for the Prem. Yeah, he's doing well this season. A similar vein of form, I've gone Pascal Stryke because I think Rodon and Bijou get a lot of the credit nah as these guys rightfully told me he's like one of their most important players everyone knows he's their best defender I don't think that's true 100 % I think Rodon no way Strokes is everyone I'd say if anything Rodon's underrated he got hammered the other week don't know and get rid of Pascal Strokes Strokes is their best defender he also scores I think he's underappreciated but that's fine next time I've gone Chris Richards I know he scored a goal at the weekend, but I made this list.
1:31:33I don't mind that. And then I've shoehorned him into left back, but he's kind of just playing like right back, centre back this season. Jake O 'Brien, similar sort of Everton defence. Yeah, I don't mind it. Do you know who Chris Richards looks like with his hair like that? Who? Ludacris. Yeah, he does. Ludacris Richards. Ludacris Richards. Ludacris Richards. They're both American, aren't they? Yeah, they are. Chris Richards is American. Yeah, he's American. America! No, he's not. He is American. No, he's not. Yes, he is. How much do you want to have that? He's a very American name. He's American.
1:32:04Yeah, he's American. Yeah. America. From Dallas. Birmingham, Alabama. Birmingham, Alabama. Birmingham. Yeah, you? Is that by Munchen? Yes. He's good, man. He is good. Damn, that's kind of easy. Lequaran Gay, he take all the... So he'll be starting to wake up? Yeah, home nation, mate. Home nation. America. Damn. Hey, right on. Into midfield, I'm going to say the names that have already been mentioned. I've got Ampadu Garner. I've got Siddiqui from Sunderland. He's class. Can I ask To play the devil's advocate here Go on Is Ampadu underrated Yes I think so People don't know how good he is No but people remember How he was last time In the Premier League And I think it's And also Like Tanaka was their best player Last year And everyone thought Tanaka he can't even get in the team Yeah Ampadu's their captain Like he's the stalwart man Yeah boy I think he is underrated Underrated the third I know he scored a goal At the weekend But I did make this list On Friday I preface that I've got Mateus Fernandes in For West Ham Horribly Horribly overlooked Because West Ham have been poor but he's been the best player this year not according to you and all the West Ham fans yeah but he's just good isn't he I know he signed for like what 35 mil he's quality 35 million pound player being one of their best players all season yeah but you said he wasn't this isn't a team that's struggling and people just overlook that a little bit I think he's been brilliant he's been a shining light in a shit team when really it should be Bowen and Paquetta Bowen done good Bowen done good 40 million quid I think it was worth every penny and then my final one in midfield is Brendan Aronson I've written yeah I've got him in as well yeah I've got a lot of Leeds players actually Brendan Arons I guess it's current isn't it yeah and then up front he was frozen out remember and he's come in and been unreal yeah I didn't think of him to be fair Leeds always have a lot of these class against us well Leeds have been they're the players that you it's always like the yeah the lower down teams it's Jesse Marsh yeah Jesse Marsh signed him also Chris Richards is his palace yeah I know that's why I got confused up front I have Kevin Childer I know I've shunned him into striker but that's mine Yeah, I mean, I've got very similar to you lot.
1:34:01There's a few ones you haven't put in. I've gone Dubravka and Nunes right back and Michael Keane. The centre half, I don't know if he is. I'm probably wrong here, but I think it's more I thought. Well, I didn't hit with Callaghan, mate. Yeah, I've gone Murillo. Oh, holler, holler. You fucking hate saying that. That's correct. No, I don't hate saying it. I think I thought Milenkovic got a lot of the plaudits last year, but I do think now people have realised Murillo's better. I think you were actually the one advocating for Murillo. Yeah, I'm pretty sure. No, I know. I'm not on about myself. I think Milenkovic was most people's talk last year, wasn't he?
1:34:36Because of the goals that he got in the team. Maybe, yeah. I struggled with centre-half, I'll be honest. I think Murillo's top six level. I think he's really good. Oh, he's really good. He definitely is. Everyone thinks that. Left back, I've gone with a right back, because I couldn't think of a left back. That's allowed. I've gone with Coyote. Oh, I actually nearly put him in. I really nearly put him in. I think he gets stuck with the long throw thing, but he's actually a good player. Yeah. People only visualise him just whipping bullets in. My midfield, I've got Miley as well and Fernandes. And I went with Stack at Leeds.
1:35:06Anton Stack, yeah. The problem is, I had two Leeds midfielders. I didn't want to put all three of them in. I do. Now, thinking about it, I do think Ampadu is more underrated. I think Stack gets, because he scores quite a few goals. I think he does get more of the plaudits, but I still think he's really, really good. And my front three, I've got Aronson on the left. I've got Tavernier. I honestly think every time I watch Bournemouth he's one of their brightest sparks yeah what were you going to say the Brighton game the other day he was the only one who looked threatening some good delivery what were you going to say what were you going to say it's interesting because we had a discussion about Clive as the opposite didn't we last week being overrated and actually Tavenir does just always put in a very good shift he ticks along he's really brave as well he takes shots on he runs at people I like him he's done his hammy though and then down the middle I've gone with a player who I thought was done and even when Muniz come in I thought he's done it I've gone Jimenez yeah he's 34 still starting every week I think he's just solid how long has he got the season Raul don't get me wrong I think when he was at Wolves I remember we spoke about it I thought Jimenez was like world class oh yeah of course and then got that head injury and I just think what a fucking boy he's coming back to it are you willing to agree that he's better than Yikarez yeah stop calling him Yikarez are you willing to admit that because it was a hard knock Jimenez is a more seasoned Premier League player than Jimenez so who do you think is better I don't know who I take though it's a different role I think Jimenez he's like the glue in that team and he's just solid every week you're going to get 6 or 7 out of 10 aren't you or 8 but Fulham I feel like Fulham are just full of players like that aren't they full but again you don't focus on what's in every week that's why so I think a lot of that other than Wilson that's the only reason why I don't agree with the Harry Wilson I had a Bassey and Iwobi I think Bassey's been poor this year though but I like Bassey but I think he's very hit and miss and he doesn't he needs to pull his shorts up and he's funny they've been in good form without him yeah exactly so does he get straight back in the team I don't know didn't he start the weekend no he was on the bench was he wasn't he at AFCON though he has been at AFCON yeah I think it'll still be him and Anderson yeah it will be yeah right well football then let us know who your underrated 11s are guys and let us know in the comments who had the best underrated 11 and why it wasn't Lewis I think mine was the best you just said you hated your list nah it's changed me mate you didn't agree with half the page you said nah except for Rhys James I liked it who do you think was the best pick from everyone like maybe a rogue one I'm happy with the Tavernier show I thought I was rogue with Ampadu but three of us had him so I like Chris Richards Chris Richards is a good show Kamada I'm going to say Kamada's a good show because Kamada's an easy one to really see Tavernier for me shall we start putting a poll up after everyone and at the end of the season we can see who gets the best.
