In short

Episode topic: England’s World Cup quarterfinal vs Norway recap and tactical preview for the semi-final vs Argentina, plus predictions and a “World Cup underrated XI” segment.

Guests

Tom (provides tactical analysis, especially on Jude Bellingham/England as a whole), plus the main hosts (Reeves, Lewis Bowden, Theo, George, Lou, Will, etc.) who debate lineups, fitness, and outcomes.

Key claims

England weren’t at their best vs Norway but still won by capitalizing on mistakes; Haaland and Kane were effectively “shut up” by limiting supply rather than direct stopping; England’s squad depth and proactive substitutions (Dan Byrne highlighted) can swing games.

Notable examples

Rice illness/fitness concerns; Saka’s fitness and impact; Pickford’s World Cup record and “shaky” moments; Bellingham’s consecutive knockout scoring stat; Dan Byrne’s calm impact and a “teabag” header moment; Spain’s efficiency vs France discussion; Argentina’s reliance on Messi/Alvarez. Predictions: England 2-2 or 3-1, possibly extra time/penalties.

Happy birthday to Lou Happy birthday dear Louie Happy birthday to you One more time Happy birthday No Tom, well done for joining in the rendition of Happy Birthday there Do you have any kind words to say to you?

25I didn't want to ruin it because I'll be off, won't I? Oh, you'll be out of sync, couldn't you? Do you have any kind words for your dear friend, Lewis Bowden, on his day of birth? I didn't actually know it was his birthday. Happy birthday, mate. How old are you today? I'm 28. Jesus. Tough paragraph, mate, isn't it? Or as someone else said the other day, oh, we're petting you're 34. Nah, nah. So actually, George... He's American. So Theo's last asked me, she was like, oh, Lewis, how old are you? And I was like, oh, 28. And she paused for a second and went, oh. Oh, I was just about to say, the worst reaction is, oh.

55Yeah, it was like so... It was so hard. I was like surely that reaction was terrible no you look good man for your age no I don't I'm getting a transplant you are getting a transplant and you look far better this trip's aged well on you man yeah has it has it he'll have the liver of an 80 year old honestly I've just came off the back of the world's worst flu I've had diarrhea for six weeks it's fucking brutal but that is obviously the famous New York diarrhea illness oh yeah I told you about that oh Tom you alright yeah everything alright he's caught it oh he looked like you were about to Oh my God, it's got straight across the internet.

30It's got straight through the mic. It's got across the Atlantic. The quarterfinals are done, which means the semifinals are up next. England face Argentina. But before we get on to that, lads, you lot obviously want some tactical analysis from pitch side rather than some drunk gobblery gook and Reeves shouting over Lewis and Lewis saying, let me finish, let me finish for 20 minutes. Oh no. So we've brought in Tom to give us his tactical analysis on Jude Bellingham. I thought Jude Wemingham or the team no no do England as a whole because everyone knows how good Jude is yeah I think I thought we were crap thank you and if but I never felt like we were going to lose at any stage I thought we'd always find a way I thought they looked really tired and I thought they were slow Declan Rice is ill obviously but he should be fine for the game that's what I have he might do you know by the way if he has what I have I am so impressed he managed to get out a bit it's food poisoning Tom can I ask you know because we sort of had this mini discussion in the last one is this not almost a credit to Norway did Norway just play good because if you go for each player around the England team no one actually had a bad game yeah but no one even Jude didn't have a great game he had two great moments obviously but none of them had a great game I don't think anyone played that well.

56I don't think Pickford had a particularly good game. I thought they were quite... Norway shouldn't be dominating large parts of the game, in my opinion, and pinning us back. They shouldn't be able to do that. That's the Norway of what you're used to in the past, but this Norway team is almost their golden generation who are a brilliant team. I don't think they're brilliant, though. I personally would barely have two of their players in our team. I don't think they should be able to do that. That's my point. I thought England were poor but it doesn't matter it's tournament football it's about winning and they've pulled it out of the bag again but if we play like that Wednesday we'll be in trouble I think a lot of it would have been the weather as well like it was very humid and hot in Miami it was very different to other games I don't know what Mexico was like but the games we went to it hasn't been that bad Mexico was colder right it was raining no but Mexico would have taken it out of them with the altitude and stuff but also the Norwegians wouldn't have liked that as well so it's not like we played a team use of those conditions so we can't make excuses for that.

56And actually, do you know what I think? So our centre-back partnership obviously changed a little bit but I didn't really... Did Haaland play? Do you know what I mean? He was shut up. He was shut up. You could say the same about Kane though. No, absolutely. But he was shut up. The narrative was Haaland versus Kane the entire game and then neither of them really. Well, the thing with Haaland is I gave him a saying before the game it's not about stopping Haaland. It's about stopping the supply, isn't it? That's how you stop Haaland. And in fairness, if Soloth could pass a 10-yard ball they could have been 2-0 up in the first half he wanted to be the hero didn't he?

25he wanted to be the hero no no no when he tried to pass it through to him and he just passed it straight to our centre half oh what was it about the one he didn't try to pass it? that's what I mean we were lucky the other night let's not dress I'm absolutely over the moon but we were a bit fortunate I think I agree they've lost the game through two mistakes no no one mistake and one which probably shouldn't have counted so I think we have kind of got away with one but again I never felt like we wouldn't win even like I don't know it's weird we weren't playing well but I was like we'll win I don't know but I don't think I'll feel like that Wednesday because they it's yeah I don't know we'll see a kind of argument to that is do you not think Argentina have sort of shown very similar vibes to us where they've been relying on one singular player yes a couple others stepped up against Switzerland but I mean they've scraped through a lot of their games they have absolutely they've not made it easy for their fans either is that not more of a worry but they did that four years ago as well yeah I know England are doing it right now why is that more of a worry because both teams are coming at it no because everything just seems to fall in Argentina's favour what are you saying here Ruv no I'm not saying anything are you saying what I think you're saying no Argentinians are going to be watching this no but we haven't come up against a team with this much firepower and this much ability to get it done yet, have we?

50But neither have Argentina. Yeah, but they have in... This team has. They're world champions, Theo. No, I'm talking about this World Cup, though. Obviously, it's a different... No, but they... Yeah, but we don't know. England haven't proved in our lifetime of us winning against a team deemed as better than us. That's why Tuchel's here, isn't it? That's what we've got to trust and believe in. Germany in 2021? This is what I was seeing on the... Germany weren't better than us in 2021, Theo. Germany were really bad, though, and especially... France but no like it's all saying like we keep saying it's only the one game that matters but it's like ultimately it is like even after Argentina it's France because even a final isn't like we ain't got to we'll worry about that after because the Spanish could win that as well bottom line is the semi-final and final of a World Cup is obviously going to be a game where you go fucking hell yeah this is tough obviously so I'm on the fence with it I think we're capable of winning but then I just think when they've got him in their team and I just I don't know.

49I don't know if we'll hold out. I could see it being high scoring. I'm just wondering, what would you say has been our best performance this World Cup? Is it still that Croatia game or is it the Mexico game off the back of... Contextually, it's the Mexico game. Oh no, footballing performance is the second half Croatia. Absolutely. If we do that against Argentina, we go through. So is that not concerns like the team, the way we want to play and the team you'd want to play against this Argentinian team is the team from the first game. You know what I mean? We haven't actually like topic that's what I said that's what I said with the second and third group stage games it felt like we regressed a little but ultimately we are now here in the semi-final once again but your argument Reeve at the start of this tournament was the teams were playing against our difference so Croatia obviously didn't sit back that's why we got onto them a little bit better so do you not think facing Argentina they're not going to sit in and defend like they did against Tannenbaum so actually we're more likely to play better against them I have faith mate what's the point and ultimately like I don't want to keep bringing it back to him but we do actually have Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane, who are some of the biggest moment players in probably definitely recent English history right now, especially this World Cup.

56You know, I'm more than confident and more than happy just to be like, yeah, dude, you might actually win us this game. Just like Messi might win Argentina. This is the brilliance of having two people is because Kane had an off game and we still got through from the other guy. Yeah. Yeah, Kane was shocking the other night. Yeah, exactly. If they both turn up against Argentina, then they're going to have a real tough time beating us. Well, Bellingham's already cemented himself as one of our best players in any sort of competition. But that's the highest ever World Cup goals total, non-penalties, outside of Gary Linnick.

25He's already done it. Joint most, yeah, six. He's the best. He'll get another one. Oh, fucking so happy we have him. It's the best in my lifetime, anyway. I think it's better. How do you see the game going? 2-2. And then penalties. I don't know. I think then it's a flip of a coin. I think we'll beat them in extra time. Yeah, so why? I think they look leggy in a lot of games, Argentina, but they just have the quality to get over the line. Whereas I think our subs, I think the subs will be really, our squad depth and subs are going to be really key because they don't have that. And I think you noticed that against Norway, is that the subs we made actually really impacted the game again.

06And I think Tommy's really got that right this tournament, is that the ones he's making are breaking. He's proactive about it. We all got confused. He made like three or four subs in a row and we all got confused about where is everyone going to play, what's going to happen. And then the fourth one came on and we're like, oh, that actually makes so much sense. And it's making it. And obviously we've got Dan Byrne, who when he comes on just makes everyone feel just so calm. Yeah. See? And that header where he just fucking teabagged that Norway player as well. Steps over him screaming. See, I bet you're like screaming at the crowd now, lads.

40does he see what it's like when he goes and screams at the crowd you've been rinsing Newcastle fans for that you know you have Dan Byrne on your side you see what it's like isn't that the brilliance of international football like people that you get through the season you can get behind and there's no guilt you see what it's like yeah it's fun I wanted to I couldn't ask you all about any concerns in the starting line I think the left side has been I think God has made that his own he's done well come into it there's still an issue in the right wing and right back what are our thoughts there it'll be sad Saka, he should be Saka if he's fitting.

12He only started Madweki because Saka couldn't start, I think. Saka had a nice moment on the right as well. I thought Saka had a nice moment. I can't believe no one was on the end of that ball. And the shot as well. Saka did well when he came on, I thought. Yeah, he did. He should have scored. It's a shame him and Rice have just been struggling. Well, Rice with his illness and fitness, and then Saka as well with his fitness. It's a shame. Are they going to be sound now to start? I'll be amazed if it's not James and Saka I was going to say yeah Rhys James and who's going to be sent off do we keep Stones again or do we bring Konza back in I thought Stones was just brilliant again I really like Stones he'd be shanky at the start though wouldn't he I know but he warmed into it I thought he was absolutely brilliant it's a big game all these question marks over Tom's Tommy's player selection before the game everyone's just proving themselves yeah Yeah.

07Do you know what I mean? And Anderson's getting better with every game as well, isn't he? Yeah, I thought that might have been Anderson's actually best game. Anderson's so fucking good. A quick word on Jordan Pickford. Tom, you said you thought he was a little bit shaky. I thought he still was very confident in the air. He claimed pretty much everything. He made a couple of good punches towards the end of the game. He's now become England's most appearance maker ever at a World Cup, overtaking Peter Shilton. Any words on Jordan? Yeah, he's incredible. He's definitely been the best goalie of my lifetime.

33is settle down a position that... Is he England's best goalie, full stop? I don't know. I can't comment on Gordon Banks, can I? I think a lot would argue him. But I think with the nature of what the World Cup is now, with so many games and the Euros, how the competitive it is... Yeah. And if he wins the World Cup? I think it's more. He's had so many big moments. Penalty shootouts helps us get over that old debacle. I'd have him number one, but I'm sure someone who's 65 would tell me, I don't know Gordon Banks, but I'd say Pickford is, but I think that in the Mexico game, he was unbelievable, but it wasn't a slight in him.

14I just thought it wasn't one of his better games. I thought he was a bit shaky, but he's not going to play well every game, is he? I was going to say as well, England, at the top of the start there, progressed to 7 ,400-metre tournaments, as many as they had prior to this. So we are kind of living in a generation that's never happened before. Southgate walked so took a could run, is that what we're saying? Well, it's just like we're living in a moment now where this is the norm, reaching the semi-final. I did think to myself, when we were coming back, it's nice just to be consistently not going out in the round of fucking 16 or groups and then actually being able to enjoy the tournament a bit longer.

46There's one man to thank for that, boys. Southgate. Yeah. Or you. I don't know if he was... What would it be me? I don't know. I thought he might have done something. Is there a parrot in the room? No, no, he probably just didn't hear that. He probably just didn't hear, Roof. Yeah, no, he didn't hear. What? No, he didn't hit Rube. Yeah. Before we move on, a little word on Bellingham. Another one I wanted to highlight there. Bellingham's the first player to score two goals in consecutive knockout stage appearances since Maradona in 86. Does that count, though? Does the stat count because it was extra time?

19Yeah, I think it does. They haven't fucked him over for that. At the moment, we're going to do an underrated player later, but is he leading the golden ball after Messi? whoever wins between Argentina and England I think that second goal sort of summed him up isn't it because you saw earlier in that game I think Kane had a shot and he followed up but the ball didn't get rebounded but he's the type of guy who just doesn't ever give up he just like as a kid what do you do you're always told to follow up on every shot and I think he just personified everything he's sort of given the entire time and it's easy not to do that as well it's easy not to do that and like people not really notice as well especially at the time when you're knackered but you get your rewards from it and he has consistently throughout the tournament it's more the shot everyone thinks the goalie's going to hold it and he still gambles and he's the only one who gambles on it yeah that's why he scores so many of them tap-ins it's like Lampard these players who score tap-ins it's not by accident the defender had a couple of yards on him as well he just anticipated so much quicker I'm just glad that he actually had a shot because it was a bit we do sometimes just take a fucking strike you know what I mean I think that was Rodgers' best that was his best little cameo I think so far he did well when you come on actually.

31In the other quarterfinals then, lads. We briefly touched on it the other day. Are you going to go to the Spanish one? I was going to go to the Spanish one. Pretty much an identical goal, yeah. Seal the deal almost the same as the Jew goal. Spain winning it in the last minute thanks to the greatest, well, I'd say the fourth best strike in the world right now, Marino. Is there a conversation to be had? There's definitely a conversation to be had, mate. Most clutch player in history? he's got more knockout goals than Manana now hasn't he by the way that's not hard yeah I know I know Laman's like oh you just knew when he was coming on he was like it was set up for him to fucking it was only because Courtois was injured though wasn't it bless him I know but like that's a bad spill that one I thought like yeah somebody's been so consistently good this year as well I do feel a little bit for Laman just a lack of match practice so basic isn't it fuck him push it to the side surely us anything on Spain on Spain I am a keeper a lot of people are saying this France-Spain game is like an immovable object versus an unstoppable force yeah you really should have let him try and figure out the end of there we were going to have a feel big a classic there I think Spain they're one of the few that could actually stop France yeah but it doesn't make sense but they just haven't impressed me Spain do you know what I mean they've not been flashy Do you know what I mean?

57They've just been so efficient. So efficient. Spanish machine of winning one more. And your mouth is getting better every game. They've only conceded one goal, Theo. No, I know. This is what sounds so weird. What you're saying is the boring. The boring. The boring. Total efficient. Have Spain ever been exciting? Not really. They're not an exciting... No, it's not. I mean, I appreciate the way they're playing because I like that style of football, but it's not a very... It's controlled. Yeah, it's not. It's like the old pep teams people used to call boring. It is boring when you just keep the ball and try and outpass.

34And Jamal hasn't been his amazing best as he wears. I thought it was his better game. He's grown into it. He's obviously still got a little bit of a knock, hasn't he? But they've never been flashy. England and Argentina, well, Argentina definitely are very exciting. France, because of all the attacking talent. But I think it would be a really interesting tactical game. but after what I saw France do to Morocco I just I can't see them not winning that you think France beats Spen yeah and I was actually speaking to some of the lads I used to play with the Spanish lads the other day and they're not very confident because they were like we can't score we don't score enough goals against a team like that but they can just bring on Marino if they keep it 0-0 to the ninth minute they can just bring on Marino it's weird how they can't seem to produce a nine nail a striker yeah for years since Torres probably they have they haven't it really Yeah, it's just...

26But still amazing. Imagine if they had Kane. Fuck me. But I think... I don't know. What's people's predictions? I think I'd edged France like 2-1 or something. I think you could see like a 1-1 or a 0-0 extra time. I think defensively Spain... That is what is the most... If you're going to talk about what is impressing about Spain is their defence, obviously. Yeah, but can you see France not scoring in 90 minutes? Mate, come on, mate. We thought Morocco would give them... I just, Theo, I agree with everything you're saying. Spain is so good. Like, they're such a good unit and team. If anyone's going to do it, it will be there.

01I just cannot see the French not scoring. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, when you've got... They haven't come up against... Dembele, at least they... It's fucking ridiculous. I actually think Spain are a better team. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They're more well drilled. do you know what I mean? But, the fuck, you know, yeah, the French... Imagine they had them back. Would you say, man for man, it's probably got more better players than it's been in France. France. France. By position. France. Yeah. Well, who get here? Well, the Cucurella, Yamal, they'd get in the French team. Pedri? Rodri. Pedri. Pedri. So, yeah, it's probably four.

38Yeah. I think it's closer than we think. I think it's probably closer than you think. Yeah, it's probably... I think it's just... I feel like... Two of many has been fantastic. Oh, yeah, maybe the goalies. Oh, yeah, you're probably right. We'll actually... I think it's when it comes to, like, the actual discrepancy of how much better they're all, like, some of the French players are in certain positions. That's where it gets outweighed. Yeah. And who has played better this tournament? You'd say I'd argue Pedri but he's not really been that impressive really. He didn't start, did he? Yeah. No, but Pedri's not.

02Rodri's been their best player. Yeah, absolutely. But also the people that produce moments of magic certainly favour France more than Spain because Jamal really hasn't turned up for the tournament. Because it's the kind of game that he does. And also, don't forget the Spanish who've got one over on them from the Euros last time. That's semi-final. And the RU have been champions. Yeah. Don't remind us And by the way They breezed that tournament Didn't they Yeah So And he could be one of them Anyway Like I'm hoping This whole thing With Saka and James Leaving Has been a masterstroke For Tush Or maybe the whole Yamal He's just building up You don't know You might just turn it on In the semi-finals And show us Why he's the best player In the world I'd love that Saka to just Who would Who would you rather play?

50Spain Spain Spain more methodical more methodical they have less almost these match winners who could just steal it yeah do you know what I mean I think we've grown since the Euros final as well now so I think if we see them in that situation we've lost to both of them in the last two times I think we've progressed more than Spain have as a team since that final they haven't lost for two and a half years remember yeah I don't know about that until now they haven't lost a game since before the year. I think it's March 2024. The players that were in that final for us are now two years better on.

24Well, a lot of the players that are in the final for us aren't even in the squad. I mean, the best player in that game was Palmer who came off the bench and scored the goal and he's not in the squad. So it's interesting because I think having gone as far as we think they have. Yeah, a part of me think, I don't know if it's quite a part of me think the French would give us more chances. I don't know. I could see it being just a showtart against the French. Whereas the Spanish, I could see the Spanish just passing us to death. Yeah, the Spanish is just like a slow, painful death, really. At least we know early doors if we have a fucking chance or not.

03I'd rather a slow, painful death. Guys, we have fucking Duke Bellingham, mate. Chill out, we're going to beat them all. We've got to have the ball first. Nah, mate. Bellingham will just win it back on his own, mate. He'll just score from the outside. I really quickly wanted to ask, actually, I'll bring it back up now. Do you think It's obviously Not a surprise But it's interesting How our two best players Who seem to have The most energy Come in the most distance Don't play in England That's what I said That was my point They've played Less of a season Haven't they With Kane Kane had loads of rest Didn't he Towards the end of the season Yeah It's like Usman Dembele Hardly played a game Yeah He doesn't play For the Champions League As far as intriguing Yeah Well the Premier League Is the most physically Demanding league in the world Especially when you play Every minute Like Rice Well not Saka what Declan Rice pretty much did do you know what I mean France-Morocco I mean Morocco just didn't show up I don't know could have been like 7 or 8-0 if it weren't for Bonu in goal it would be a bit disappointing in Morocco top 10 in the world I lost once in like 40 yeah they didn't really see it disappointed yeah disappointed still World Cup quarterfine do you think they do you think they they're not going to get past Morocco France they could they could I mean they were like rank 6th in the world I get that but it's still France yeah I was a little bit disappointed with them but then at the same time I could understand I don't think the outcome I'm saying like the game that they actually gave them in the match yeah I was disappointed with Morocco's midfield because they've been good they've been good this tournament I thought like Bouadi had a bit of a poor game like kept giving the ball away because that's where I think you can hurt France Rabiot and Chumeni have been good and I think Kone played in the other day but that's where you can hurt France and I thought the Moroccans just seen I think they gave him a bit too much respect if I'm honest rightfully so probably but yeah I just didn't but Boney's been one of their good players another penalty save did you see the snap when I sent you my screenshot is that how you saw that I got all these off Opta I did Opta you get these off Opta yeah oh wow yeah Boney's now saved the most world cup penalties including shootouts four surprise the most since Gordon Banks 1966 yeah stars were all his status since 1966 everything's in our favour at this point everything I've read so far on these preps in the last four weeks says that we're going to win the World Cup Mbappe versus Messi or is Harry Kane still in the shout for the golden boot I think Bellingham it's not it's not it's not much in it yeah it's going to be whoever makes it to the final I'd probably Bellingham yeah Bellingham has got as good of a shout as Kane he gets two more in the next game and then two more in the game It's coming away with 10, right?

45Are Kane and Jude both on six? Yeah. Messi's on nine. No. Eight. Messi and Bappe are both on eight. Eight. He's not scored. I think Bappe probably wins it. I think Bappe wins it. But I'd fancy Bellingham over Kane at the minute. Is it also not for the Golden Boot? Is it also a shootout for the Ballon d 'Or? It just depends who wins the World Cup. That's what I'm saying. it is a weird one though because if England win it Bellingham should win the golden ball but I don't think he'll win the Ballon d 'Or because do you know what I mean because of the rest of the season but if France win the World Cup is it Mbappe's Ballon d 'Or or is it Dembele who won the treble which is ridiculous PSG I don't know or if Argentina win the World Cup is it another sure what if Argentina don't win the World Cup but Messi gets golden boot and golden ball you know if England win the World Cup I don't know who's more in the running is it Kane or Rice Kane it'll be Kane it's called like 73 goals it's a crazy season I do think in fairness like one of these lads should probably win the Ballon d 'Or based on the World Cup like the way it's the biggest tournament the biggest stage and they've all shown up and like absolutely they carry their teeth through it so like realistically I'd give it at the minute I think Mbappe should win it based on what the World Cup and like, he still had an incredible season.

14Even though Real Madrid didn't, he specifically had an incredible season. He shouldn't be punished for his team's issues, essentially. Or like, for example, if Declan Rice had been our best player, why should he be punished for Gabriel missing a penalty? It seems ridiculous to me, but I think, yeah, it'll come down to whoever wins it. One of them lads will win the Ballon d 'Or. Because when is it? It's not... It's not until September, October, isn't it? Yeah, it used to be December though, didn't it? So it's closed. It's closed now. It's more seasonal now. Yeah, so I think it'll definitely be a World Cup winner.

48Argentina, Switzerland. Impressed by Switzerland, lads, in this World Cup? Yeah. Yeah, they've been good, haven't they? Yeah, they have, haven't they? They've been like this for years, haven't they? They're so solid. They're such a good unit, aren't they? But they just can't... Especially if Xhaka are in the heart of it as well. They just can't... They just haven't got enough up front, have they? They've not got enough quality, essentially. Yeah, yeah. It's a bit of a shame. but that and Bolo's is fucking diving bastards anyway so yeah what do we think of that everyone happy with that use of AR yeah going back to it absolutely you made it sound like there would have been an absolute like rigged Theo came out and to the guy he was like this is the most rigged tournament you'll ever see and like he said it was absolutely ridiculous but he died there was four or five of us watching it all pissed we were like ah fuck this they're rigging the tournament again this is it then we watched it we were like oh yeah first what a stupid thing to do when you're already on a yellow and then just go and dive at that point in the pitch as well.

37Yeah, he wasn't even like he was going to gain much. He deserved to be sent off for fucking stupidity. And then Xhaka's like, ah, like smiling. He's a fucking idiot. Clattenburg said that the ref could have just retracted the yellow and just played a free kick. No, no, because it's a bout he died. You do see players dive a lot in the middle of the park and not get booked. I admit he's a fucking idiot. So he's just an hour precedent though. Do you not think though when players do it and don't get a yellow? I know it is, but when players do that and don't get yellow, which happens all the time especially the ones where they just come up behind and go you're not going to pull it back for a single yellow but you can pull it back for the red can't you because it's a double red card I'm asking the question well yeah because it's a very stupid one and it's like you'd think it's but he dives and he knows that a yellow going into it so why the fuck he's thinking to dive at that point well the same happened with Kane the ref said he dived against Congard and he didn't book him which was ridiculous they should be booked any dive it should be a booking.

36Also, people that are asking for yellow cards should be booked. Yeah, that's just getting ignored at this point. No one cares about that. But yeah, Messi through to semi-final once again. It's the first time playing England. Yeah. Yeah, first ever time he's playing England. Oh, we're going to be there to watch his last ever international game. Then we'll be able to see Messi live. I tell you what, it could get tasty in that stadium Wednesday. Mate, mixed crowds as well. It's not segregated. The Argentinians have found my tweet about the, I tweeted like, oh, That's a rigged thing after the yellow card, the red card for Switzerland, and the Argentinians have seen that.

10Yeah, it's... What, you think there's a target on your back? I've had 400 messages on Twitter alone. Let's come in for me, lads. I'm going to point you out. He's here! I got him! Argentina, England is such like a feisty one. I don't think they'll get to you in the VIP, Theo. I'll have Lewis to protect me, don't worry. If you want to continue beating our hoodoos, Argentina are going to be playing in blue, which is what they were on, 86 and 98. What are we playing in red? We're playing in white which is white and blue which is what's happened the last two times we've lost in the World Cup although we did beat them when we were in red in 2002 Yeah, yeah, yeah because that I've put every other stats since 1966 so obviously it's coming on Alright, let's keep that going No, but on seriousness lads, how do you see this one going?

51I actually think Messi is going to be probably the most nullified he's ever been He's got Don't say that now What are you doing? That is the sort of stupid shit that they clip up and post after he scores First of all, what I say now doesn't affect how Messi plays, so you're all being superstitious. Second of all, Declan Rice will be fully fit. Anderson, there are two strongest runners in the team. Well, we don't know if Declan Rice will be fully fit. Also, Messi just free-roams, though. I don't think you can pimp him. And also, Nico O 'Reilly's got a whore player. I saw a clip the other day. I saw a clip the other day.

24Someone being like, you just need to man-mark him. Oh, my God. Why hasn't anyone thought of that in 25 years? Just man-mark him. it's easy just man mark him you can't like we can't go into the game like sacrificing that's genuinely impossible because for the most part someone would have to stand still just like five minutes in the game I think yeah bottom line is he's gonna they're gonna have moments and he's gonna have moments and unfortunately there's not much way to stop him we just have to score two or three goals to win that's what it's gonna be do you think we pull a handbrake off or go for it or how would you yeah we can't go into this we are better than them we're better than the Argentinians we're better than the Argentinians it's not in Tommy Tuchel's sort of nature to take the handbrake off anyway what?

15he goes for it in every game he plays like even if you look at the way his substitutes do do you know what I mean? no I think we have that doesn't make sense what you've just said during every game we've made positive substitutions you've just said he doesn't take the handbrake off you've just said he doesn't what does that mean? so if you keep the handbrake on it means Southgate was criticized for not taking the handbrake off you take the handbrake off and start moving that's putting it on whatever whatever the one is where he goes stop doing that whatever the one is oh you lift up to that's putting it on put it down I wouldn't say I wouldn't no his substitutions have been good and positive in that and I think he goes for it in the games we're in a lot of that by the way a lot of that game the other day I was sat with my mates we were all going this looks like a Southgate team like how deep they were and like how pinned back we were at times but he does change it that's the difference I just I don't know I think I think we'll set I think we will set up the same like quite just solid pragmatic and try and hurt them when they give us the ball back because they will and you can get at them they give up chances Argentine the issue is they always come back but I think we're good enough we might actually put three past them I actually think we're good enough would you be confident?

24no I actually think we do you know what I think we roll over them 3-1 I've changed your mind I think we I think they are way more open and they're going to come at us way more and we'll just fucking outwork them. How are you allowed to say this but I can't say we're going to nullify Messi? That's a bit different. Because I'm not saying that. Not as I'll put a one on there for them. That's the guaranteed Messi goal. That's it. Yeah. I think we are good enough defensively in terms of we give up chances in transitions or teams on the break but when we actually set up in a block we're very hard to score against.

56Very hard. And Dan Byrne. That's what I mean. We saw it in Mexico. We saw it the other night. I think... If England are 2-0 up, the game's done. Are you positive now about it then? Yeah, I've changed. I think we went 3-1. It's been like a day and a half. Have you actually questioned what happens when Byrne comes on to man-mark Messi? By the way... Mate, he's going to fucking eat him for breakfast. By the way, you see... He's the only person... Dan Byrne, he's going to be marking Messi. Is he... Can I tell you right now, the moment Dan Byrne... The moment Dan Byrne comes through the back of Messi and lays a fucking header on the ball, I'm going to ejaculate.

29boots him across the room. That's exactly what's going to happen. Give me the picture of Dan Byrne standing all the messy and screaming. Oh my, by the way, that might end up being the most liked photo of all the time on Instagram. He just teabags messy. Dan Byrne, what are we predicting then? Yeah. 3-1 England. 3-1 England. 2-1 England. I'm going to go 2-2. We win an extra time. I think it's going to be an extra time, Javi. Do you think it goes penalties? I wouldn't be surprised if both send me. If there's one goal in it. I mean if it goes to penalties we're good because Messi can't take them yeah but Emi Martinez is a big game that's another one that's another clip really quickly though on Argentina that's obviously Messi didn't score in that game that's going to surely give them I know he's you know he got an assist but that's got to be a bit of confidence for them that they're you know we said we said that finish by Alvarez was brilliant so as much as we're saying we're better than them they have got a lot of quality in that team oh definitely that's why they're in the semi-finals that's why they're world champions but I think Nah, mate.

29Nah, bit of shit. I don't... And don't be... It's alright saying Argentina are a one-man team. We've only had three players score. Yeah, yeah. So, I'd quite like... Something you need, yeah. I'd quite like someone else to step up and take a bit of pressure off the two lads, but... Sorry, um... Who do you think that could be? If it's going to be anyone. Gordon. I think... I really fancy Gordon scoring the other night. I feel like he's got that in him. I think he's really grown into the tournament. I feel like Gordon. Yeah, I think. But the thing with Gordon is, I've really noticed it with England.

09In Mexico, in the early stages, he got the ball, knocked it round the right back, beat him. Nothing come of it. And you've just seen him grow. Whereas the other night. Yeah, because he knew he could do it again. The other night, he lost the first two battles against that right back. And I think it kind of, then he started to come back and stuff. He needs confidence, doesn't he, Gordon? Once he gets a bit, he starts flying. Do you know what I think, though? You look at if Saka is fully fit, by the way, on that right-hand side, up against an eight. How Taglefico is still starting left-back for Argentina, I will not know.

41Do you think that could be an area of sort of... Yeah, he's going to slap his little body. Little body. The more I think about it, these are actually fucking shit, brother. Oh, God. They're actually shit. Mate, they've got parades starting. They're still playing the Tarot Martinez. as he almost fucking missed his shot the other day. It was an open goal. Who would you want to score the winner if you could choose? Dan Bellingham. Dan Byrne winner. Dan Byrne would be a good one. Honestly, come on in the 90th minute. Like he did, do you remember in the final way? He's like miles out. Just Dan Byrne.

09Nah, Pickford. Overhead kick Pickford. From a corner. Oh my God, yeah. And then he does the T-Rex. That's coming up again. All right, so on the topic of Anthony Gordon, obviously getting better, you've all got an underrated 11 got an underrated world 11 quite hard this yeah underrated from the world cup right yeah underrated from the world cup yeah underrated world cup 11 here we go then lads can I grab my water out the fridge do I have time for that I'll get it for you mate it's in the freezer actually thank you Will let Tom go first yeah go on Tom your world cup underrated 11 I want to hear it yeah I thought this is the interesting one I feel like this is quite easy because all the big names have shown up haven't they so I think there's quite a lot of names that you can kind of get away with being underrated I went with Unai Simon in goal I think I wouldn't have even started him for Spain I think obviously they've only conceded one goal underrated what have we missed the memory underrated well I had Vazinha as the goalie of the tournament I just think I don't know if you could say Simon's underrated I don't have another name I think there's a great name these names have to not be in the shout of the best player in that position in the tournament and say, oh, they actually have worked their way into the...

25You've literally got guys who just did, what, one goal? Yeah, I think... You've got Rhys James right back. I've gone Wan-Bissaka right back. Then I've gone with the two Columbia centre-halves, Lissimi and Sanchez. Ricciardo Rodriguez left back. Yeah, nice. Then I've gone with Tuomeni and Galaza in midfield. I've gone like... Tuomeni underrated? Yeah, I think... Because, again, I think there's been... Roger, I think the big names have stepped up. I think I don't know I don't really have a selection so too many guys like Galaza and then I've gone with Saar and Saibari and then I've gone with Lukaku and Undav up front I have Lukaku mate Lukaku didn't start Lukaku didn't start one game and he scored three goals stop no Lukaku's good Lukaku's underrated technically technically technically Belgium's all time top goalscorer I actually agree he's underrated Everyone always laughs at Lukaku.

23Nah, Messi's underrated. Nah, nah. You're comparing Lukaku with Messi. I think that's one of his better ones out of me. Lukaku hasn't even started. He hasn't started one game and he scored three goals. Right, shall I do mine, boys? In goal, I've got Gregor Koble. Yeah, I've got him. I think he's been brilliant in the tournament. Left back, Lucas Dini. Yeah, great shout out that is, by the way. Everyone else in the France team getting applauded. Well, how he's starting from France, I don't know. but he's doing a bloody brilliant job. He's starting for France. Oh, you mean how you can't believe he is starting?

56Yeah. And also he nearly scored that rocker. Yeah, he did, yeah. I've also got Lucemi at centre-back along with Twan Zebi and then Masraoui as my right-back. Playing left-back from Morocco. Yeah, but I was going to put Ricardo Rodriguez. This is the thing about you, Reid. You like to fit players in. I could put a right-back, left-back. It's because he's done the same. That's why. Don't worry about it. Midfield. I've got five midfielders because I feel like the midfielders are where the most under-rate players have been. I've got Rabiot, Patrick Berg. Is it Patrick Berg? It's Patrick Berg, yeah.

27It's a great shout, by the way. Enzo, Dan Endoy and John Arias. Yeah, Arias would be decent. Before the tournament started. Why Enzo? 100 million power player. Yeah, but everyone has been talking about Messi and yet Enzo's actually been playing really well throughout the tournament. Yeah, it's all... He's been overlooked a little bit. I think that's... I almost had him in my team for that reason. It's not... This isn't like an underrated in terms of price tag. It's like who we're talking about in the tournament and who's actually playing well is no one really talking about. He's not been mentioned.

55And yet he's actually been one of the stalwarts of the... Absolutely. It's a great shot there, Roof. And then up front, I've got Mourinho, obviously. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Why not? Yeah. Yeah. He's in number nine, but yeah. Right, Theo, because it's yours then. I'm surprised no one had... In goal, I've got Bonu. It's not going well for me Well, I said he was in my top three keepers, though, so I couldn't put him in. Yeah, he's too many as one of my top midfielders. What? I've had too many of my top three midfielders as well. Yeah, but that's why I didn't... You're asking me why nobody said it. I thought you were saying I can't have him because he was in your top three.

32No, I didn't say you can't have him. I said I've not included him because he was in my top three. No one's really talked about him, apart from you, to be fair. At right back, I've got Castagne. Again, how was he starting for Belgium at right back still? And he's played quality. He has Castagne. Do you know what I mean? I've got Concer and Alvedi at centre-half. I've been actually very impressed by Concer, and Alvedi obviously is decent, and then Dini at left-back. Dini? None of the Colombian boys. Nope. I understand why you have them, though, but I just had two different defenders. So if you disagree with me, that's fine.

00A midfield three of Patrick Berg, Xhaka, and I've got Paredes. He didn't start the first couple games, but he has now worked his way into that team at, what, 34 years old? And now he's played the last four games pretty much every minute. He's got himself back in the team, and I just thought no one's really talking about him. I thought he's been playing really well. And then front three, I've got Nicolas Pepe on the right wing. I've got Schlederup. It was a cross, though, wasn't it? He's also scored before. He's had to score before. He's been decent. He's been decent. He got the two assists against Brazil.

33No, I know. It was a cross. I'm making sure everyone knows it was a cross. Nicolas Pepe got two goals, two assists. Yeah, he scored in the first game. And then Mourinho up top, obviously. Nice try, but I've got the right list, boys. I got Kobel in goal. I'm going with a back five. So we're going to go Zachary from Switzerland. Mbembe. Zachariah. Zachariah, yeah. I know I've been saying Mbembe are my main one, but he works for the underrated one. You put him first defender of the tournament. I know, but in terms of underrated, because no one else was agreeing with you that he's definitely underrated.

04Who? Mbembe. I think he's been in every team I've made this tournament, actually. Guess who else is in your midfield. I've got Aja and Dan Byrne. Laying off the three centre-backs up there. And then Andrada as well, left back. No one enjoy him. No, okay. Here's where it gets a bit of Razzclap, boys. Raskin and Ayari in the middle. Oh. Ayari's been good, yeah. Sweden did get pumped. Yeah, my Yari was good. Yeah. And then I put Vargas on the right. You're playing 5-2-3. Yeah. I put Vargas on the right. On the left, Schlederup. And then up front, from Belgium, de Ketelanler. Fair enough. The guy who scored two against...

49That's a good tournament. Yeah, he's got a good header as well. Is that a good knockout stage? I think I give extra points for that, I think. Where's your Newcastle... Where's Manzambia, man? Where is he? Well, he's rated now. Oh, by who? By Villa? Yes. Yes, he is. I'll be happy, Villa. And tell him. Are you ever going to sign a footballer? No. Not one that's good, anyways. Newcastle linked with Takedela is that what he's oh no oh so he's going to Liverpool then yeah Lou we haven't actually had all four of us together when it seems that your beloved Bruno G new news now actually out yeah he's not going we don't have to sell Gabby he's going Arsenal he's actually not going for some reason the thing that came out today by the way the thing that came out today is apparently Arsenal genuinely led to believe that he could be leaving for 50 million he said he wants to leave and so that's why you were like well that's a fucking bargain message bruno we're like we're like solid no it's a hundred and now you're like well 100 bruno came out said he wants to leave bro no he didn't he did his agent did his agent said he's open to the idea now bruno more than you ever bruno apparently said bruno said apparently i was in the meetings um i want to leave but i'm not going to make a fuss if you see i can't so you said he was going to be there for life well he is because he's gonna be here for two year at least anyways.

09That's not his life. That's his contract. Question for everybody, where will Bruno be playing? Arsenal. He's going Arsenal and I'm going to be 100 quid up. Trust me lads, we've just missed out on Manzambi. We've sold two of all the players. If you think there's any will that we're going to be able to sell him and actually survive relegation, like there's honestly, they're not going to sell him. They can't. We'll be fucked. They can and they will. Genuinely. They are going to sell him. Use this clip and cut to Bruno Giga and Arsenal. Bruno, if you're watching though, kind of blindsided by this mate my DMs are open you know that so I'll kind of but don't worry we'll forgive and forgive just please stay wow what a rousing speech one player who is leaving just breaking news this morning Andre Santos Man United has completed the 50 million signing of him what do you think of that signing?

58it's an interesting one for Chelsea do you think there's an interesting from Chelsea there? it's their model isn't it? they've sorted pretty much everyone. They're signing for 15 mil, sold for 50. I don't think anything ever surprised me about Chelsea. They sell players for profit and then... They're trying to sell DeLapp for a profit? They probably will. He's joined, had a terrible season and they've slapped... Same with Garnaccio, signed, had a terrible season, 10 more million than what we bought, Alba, no. No, Garnaccio's going for like 40, I think. They won 50 for him though and they signed him for 40.

31No, they signed him for like 60. No, they didn't, signed up for 40? I thought it was 60 already. Nah. 60 for Gennaccio? I'm sure it was but I don't know. One of you is wrong one of you is right. Andre Santos is a good signing for Man United. So they're getting Andre Santos and Tielemans? Yes. They're rebuilding the midfield like they said they would. Yeah. Gennaccio signed by Chelsea for 40 million. Great signing that. Well done Chelsea. Well. I guess that's we wrap up boys. I guess that's the end of that. Yeah, our underrated team was sort of quite, not really disagreed with anyone, which is kind of weird.

08It's hard to because it's sort of niche, isn't it? Because unless you'd have put a superstar in, then there's an argument. But for a lot of the players, it's not really. Well, do you not want to argue with me about whether Andrade's underrated? Neyland's had a good... Did you put him in? No. He's the reason they're out. Yeah. Tom, this is the next time we'll be seeing you. We'll be back in the flesh. Will's breaking up. I can't hear him. Next time we'll see you on screen, man. Next time we'll be in person. We're all excited. Will it? Is that true? What about a little England World Cup final preview?
