  2. Eric (Netherlands fan): Claims Sweden/Netherlands “firepower” was underestimated, but after a 5-1 loss to Holland insists they’ll still beat England and go further than England; repeatedly cites stats and delusion.
  3. Shawnee boy (Melbourne, Australia): Defends Ronaldo as Portugal’s best attacker and argues Portugal can win the World Cup; predicts England go out in the semis and Australia in the round of 16.

Buongiorno, hello and welcome back to... I thought I was the calling show. Greatest show on Earth, I think.

1:12Lewis Bowden:I was going to call him the British show then. I don't miss it. I'm back with Callum. How are we, mate? I'm great. How you feeling about? Ah. He's so fucking, he's got big hands. So big and hard. I'm a bit worse for wear after yesterday. Actually, I don't feel that bad. I'm just really hot. I keep needing a shit. But we're going to kick the show off. As always, bring on the beers. It's the beer battle. Come on. Come on. Now, I didn't realise last week, until I saw a bit of it back, that you'd labelled them. You'd labelled the mugs. Yeah, one or two. Obviously they're the other way, so I didn't even clock.

1:51Lewis Bowden:Right, beer number one. I think I know what that is. What? That smells familiar. Right, come on, bring on beer number two. Oh, you tried it already. You going up straight in? Sorry. I'm a bit giddy. Thanks, mate.

2:12Well, what's that one then? Look at colour of your other one. What?

2:21Lewis Bowden:What the fuck is that? That's not beer. That's horrible. By the way, this is clear. You can't see. Oh, God. What's it taste like? Shit. Try it. No, but what's it? It smells quite nice. It's a bit fruity. This summer going, well, it's obviously got tequila or something in it. I have defo had that before. 100%. I don't know what the actual lager is, but I have 100 % had that before. Might be a buzz ball or something. No, no, no. They're definitely beers. They're beers, yeah, yeah. Like, how? That is the most mental thing I've ever tasted.

2:57That is rancid.

2:59Lewis Bowden:That's awful. It's so sweet. Oh, my taste buds are like fighting with each other because it does kind of taste nice, but it just doesn't taste like a beer. You decide at the end of the show. It tastes really... That's strong as well, that. Yeah, that ain't good. That's like... That cannot be beer Right, anyway We'll keep sipping on this And then we'll decide Which one wins I'm trying to figure out Hmm That's got to be some sort of What's it called? Moon Moonshine Some shit like that Is it Again, is it a game That's been played? Has it been played yet? Is it an upcoming game? No, it's an upcoming game It's an upcoming game Right, okay Right, anyway Let's talk about a game That did happen yesterday England-Ghana Thoughts?

3:45Lewis Bowden:I didn't think we were that crap. Do you know what I mean? It was a tough watch. I don't think we actually defended that well either in fairness because they got through a couple of times. But who else is going to do that to the rest of the tournament apart from Panama? It's going to be a lot more Croatia type games than that one. Is there? I think so. Even Mexico would come and have a go at us. I don't think they would. At their own ground? Not as much. I think they'd probably do that. No. Yeah, but really silly. If that's a round of 32 games. They're going to pace up front though. Yeah, but if that was a round of 32 games we could have lost that on penalties.

4:15Yeah, of course. We could. Yeah, but then how many times would Kane miss that, for example, as well? True, but then they should have had a penalty. Yeah, I agree with that as well. Well, I'd start John, and then it wouldn't have happened. Really? Yeah. I'd start John and Gwyn. But then Gordon, there's obviously question marks for Gordon now. I think you're being a bit biased there, because he wasn't great in the first game. Or do you think he should start over? We're so slow and sluggish on ball, and I think he can just pick it out a little bit faster.

4:41Lewis Bowden:Yeah, I don't know. To be honest, I really don't think it's that. I was disappointed and it was a tough one but I don't think we should get too high on the Croatia result and we shouldn't get too low on this result I think it's kind of we're still in pole position if we get the job done against Panama which I expect us to do we're still going to top the group you're not going to be able to play class every single game are you? true but it was a tough one I know it was yeah it was a tough one but still when we beat Panama like 5-0 then we're alright aren't we? well breaking them down like we did yesterday I think so yeah but oh they are already out there I think.

5:14Are they? They pan them out? I'm sure they're out.

5:16Lewis Bowden:They've lost two games. Yeah, but I mean, if they beat us like 3-0, they could probably call it out. No, it goes off head-to-head, doesn't it? And they lost to Croatia. So they're finishing last regardless. Ah, yeah, you are. Yeah, you're right. You're absolutely bang on. Right, we have got our first caller of the day. I'm seeing on my notes here. Very critical of England, apparently. So let's get him on and see what he's going to say. Owen, how are we? Welcome to the calling show. Now, I'm seeing on my notes here that you are very critical of England and Thomas Tuchel. Talk to me. Talk to me.

5:55Yeah, I just feel as though English fans got completely carried away after the Croatia results. Oh, wow, here we go. I can hear the accent. Yeah, exactly. We already know. I can hear the accent.

6:05Lewis Bowden:I can hear the accent. Right. Go on, then. So, we got too carried away with Croatia. Completely carried away. I mean, such a poor first-step performance. You never control the game, really. 2-2 going into the second half, and you ran at them then, and that kind of worked, and that'll take you so far. But you don't show an ability to control games and then simultaneously cut teams up and they're playing a lower block. I don't think you'll be able to do that later on in the tournament against other teams. England's style isn't to control games because we can't do that. We're not built for that. We're not going to try and dictate games.

6:37Lewis Bowden:We're going to try and run teams over. to get that far like you want it to go all the way you know and I just feel as though in general English fans started completely overrating the squad like you had Reeves saying you're the second best midfield after Portugal after that game and Callum even saying that you have the best midfield yeah the best that was insane go on the best yeah I'm not going to change my mind after one game England have got the best midfield Portugal draw it first game the Arkonga the Arkonga worse than Ghana they couldn't break them up and same thing I mean that yeah they have still got a better midfield than us I disagree, but it's alright.

7:11I think he'd probably have like the fourth. That's ridiculous. Where would Ireland come into this?

7:18Lewis Bowden:So who are the three better midfields? I would say Portugal, obviously. Spain, 100%. And I would also say the Dutch. I would just give it to the Dutch ahead of you. You're joking. Scraping the barrel. The Dutch? Definitely not. No. And even at international level, the French midfield is really good, man. I mean, they played Dembele in midfield and Elissi works in with the number 10 as well. No, no, no, no. You're not talking about midfield there. But he plays essentially as a number 10. Yeah, but Rabiot and Chumeni isn't a better midfield than Rice and Anderson, is it? But at an international level, Rabiot always performs for France.

7:57Lewis Bowden:No one's denying that. I think, yeah, he does a really good job for him, but you're avoiding the question. That is not a better midfield than Rice and Anderson, is it? That's where I would put you, joint. Dembele, Choumene and Rabiot was about as good as your midfield. I put you joint fourth. Where do you think we'll get to then? Where do you think we'll go out? Hard to know. I would love for you to go out nice and early because after I'm saying all this, I'm going to look a right fool. I'll never be able to speak publicly again if you do go on to win it. But I just think that you... Again, Bellingham again is...

8:31I would compare Bellingham to sort of an English sabbath-like. He's all hustle and bustle, but really he lacks the sort of technical notes to be a proper partner with it.

8:39Lewis Bowden:Yeah, but he isn't that. In fairness, I do agree with you that I do think Bellingham has limitations technically, but that isn't his style. No one's claiming he's a Cherokee. Do you know what I mean? That isn't... No one claims England's midfield is like the Portugal midfield. Our style is hustle and bustle. It's in your face. It's run you over. It's press hard. It's get wide. It's direct. That is our style. So just because we don't play a slow style like the Spanish or technically like the Portuguese on the half turn in the half spaces or that, that doesn't mean our style isn't as good or can work.

9:16Lewis Bowden:The Spanish midfield would really struggle against our midfield. I think we'd run against the wall against the Spanish midfield. I don't think we'll win it. I've never said we will win it. I do think in the conditions a team like Spain or Portugal will out possess us and I think that's where we will come unstuck. Spain and Portugal have both had games so far where they've drawn against lesser sides. Precisely. It's very early in the tournament and you can't deny whether you can dress it up how you want. For 20-30 minutes against Croatia that's probably the best performance alongside the French anyone's had at the tournament against good opposition.

9:50You had to do that by working harder and trying more. Yeah, that's football, mate.

9:55Lewis Bowden:What are you on about? That's football, yeah. In this tournament, with the temperature that's there, you're going to run into a wall eventually. Going through the knockout stages, you can't just keep, whenever the chips are down, you have to run harder every time. Right, did you watch that game? It could have been eight. Yeah, but... Yeah, but, yeah, but, there's no yeah, but. There's no yeah, but. They're a top ten international side, Croatia, and we could have scored eight. Yeah, it was a good result. It was an unbelievable performance for the first game in the tournament against a top ten nation.

10:26Lewis Bowden:a top 10 nation by the way the hardest game any of the big nations had in the opening game and we ran them over absolutely buried them it could have been eight look I think further just going on from that as well I just feel like the sort of the squad and the fans English fans in general just have a weak mentality like what's the thing mate the fans aren't playing the fans aren't playing I just mean to the same culture like I I watched the review show this morning yeah and at least Reeve conveyed an air of frustration with the mindset, like, with the sort of, with the squad and actually expects better from them.

11:00Yeah,

11:00Lewis Bowden:of course we expect better against Ghana, but bottom line is Ghana played well, they defended well, they probably should have had a penalty, they come out with a really good game plan and we just come unstuck, it's one game, the same way, I'm not going to jizz my pants over Croatia, I'm not going to get too low on one performance against a Ghanaian team, we come out and played really well, they surprised us, they were really aggressive, they were physical, we just couldn't, and then, even though, all that happen, in the end, if Kane scores the chance, which nine times out of ten he does, we end up winning the game and nicking it and then you look at it, oh it's a great performance.

11:34Lewis Bowden:I don't know what the fans' mentality's got to do with what the players do on the pitch. I just feel as though the kind of fans of bigger nations who actually win things hold their players and their squads to a higher extent. How do you know that? How do you know that? I guess it's just an interpretation and you can say it's completely subjective but it's just how I feel. We can't win. They're making memories, a trippier free kick against Colombia. They're there to win, and if their teams don't win, they're not happy. And I think Theo on the review show this morning perfectly exhibits that kind of mentality.

12:08Lewis Bowden:Yeah, but just because Theo doesn't represent all England fans. And also, you're making this up in your head. How do you know how the Portuguese fans react to them if they don't do well? How do you know? Nah, I guess I don't. I'm not in Portugal. You know, it is just an interpretation. And when are England fans happy if we lose? you're going back you're going back to the Trippier free kick in 2018 where we'd had years and years and years of complete disappointment not even getting out of the group in some of the World Cups and we went into that tournament with zero expectations and we got to a semi-final and scored a free kick that made us go 1-0 up on the brink of getting to a final so yeah we look back on that tournament with pride but then equally no hang on hang on hang on was Southgate was Southgate not completely hammered the final at Wembley against the Italians?

12:57I couldn't. I mean, I guess he was. I couldn't tell you because I'm not... So what are you on about?

13:03Lewis Bowden:You're saying if English fans have got a poor mentality and we don't hold our players to account, then I tell you when we do and you go, well, I don't know. But we couldn't win anyway because even if... Then we'd be arrogant. Yeah. Because then if French people did exactly the same thing as one of other big nations that are expecting to win it, there's no scrutiny on them. It's just all, oh, English attitude again. It's always that. All right. so we're going alright let's end it on this I want you to nail your bollocks to the mast where do you think England are going to end up and finish tell us what English team you support yeah that's fair enough I mean I support I'm a Coventry fan by the way oh good man I'll take that huh that's alright where do you think England are going to end up then in the World Cup I think you get to the quarter finals and I also feel as though that the French or the the energies or the Spanish would be delighted to get you in the semis of the final really I think they'd be licking their lips.

13:53Lewis Bowden:I think you really understand about England. If you think any team's going to look at England and go, yes, we've got them. It's the Argentinian midfield. Yeah. Right, anyway. Yeah, thanks for coming on the show, Owen. Anyway, I think a bit of bitterness there, but yeah. Thanks, everybody. Have a good and enjoy the rest of the World Cup. Also, how far do you reckon Ireland are going to get? It worked crap. Oh, the best, son. Well I think there was A lot of bitterness In that call You knew it As soon as accent Come on you're like Fair enough But what I don't get With that is His whole point was Oh well you don't Hold your players To account Then when I told him We do He goes well I don't know I'm not around it Which one is it?

14:37Lewis Bowden:How does he know What the Portuguese fans Or the Brazilians do Exactly Just look I get it You hate the English It's fine I get it We're a threat I think if all English players Come under more scrutiny than anybody else. I mean, yeah. I mean, that's what I mean. We are kind of typically known as the nation that just tears our own team down. He had a Bex and all when he missed that. There's so much stuff he's done before. What, when they were hanging him? Exactly. I mean, yeah. Mental, isn't it? He recovered it in 2002, didn't he, to be fair. But, I mean, moving on, I'm looking forward to this one.

15:10Lewis Bowden:Can you remember this? Oh, is it the Swedish bloke? We've got the Swedish bloke back. Oh, my Jesus. The absolute... Anyone who tuned in last week? He said they'll go further than England. Let's go. Before we get him in, let's just recap what he said last week. So he was saying they've got the best firepower at the World Cup. Yeah, yeah. They've got the best firepower. They were going to beat the Dutch and top their group. Yeah. I agree with that. They were going to go further than England. Apparently they're really underrated. Only to go and lose 5-1. 5-1 to Holland, who, by the way, are probably like seventh or eighth favourites.

15:44Lewis Bowden:Like, a team we beat. And a better defensive side than going forward. Yeah, and obviously, I was bringing up all their results in qualifying. He said, don't pay attention to that. It doesn't matter. It's now that matters, just because they won one game against Tunisia. Who, by the way, who did Tunisia then go and play? They got battered twice, didn't they? Yeah, so Tunisia have lost 5-1 to Sweden, then 4-0 to Japan. So good team, by the way. But let's get him on. I'm looking forward to this. I just want to hear what he says this time. I just want to hear his excuses. Eric, welcome back, buddy.

16:19Lewis Bowden:I've been waiting for this one, son. How are we?

16:27Come on, mate. How are we? Do you know what? I'm not bad. I'm in the garden with a beer.

16:33Lewis Bowden:Oh, drowning in sorrows. What happened? I just want to... Just a simple question, mate. What happened? What happened to that firepower? It looks worse than it is. Oh! I'm getting arsehole five. What? Fucking hell! It looks worse than it is. Go on then, how's that? Actually, I watched the game. I watched it in the pub with some of my mates. I watched it as well, mate. It was hilarious. They were more than happy to see what happened. But after the first hydration break... Oh, you've got an excuse for that. I genuinely think we controlled most of the game. You lost 41! We did. We controlled most of the game.

17:23We had most of the possession. We had more shots on target. It was just more clinical. Yeah, but your firepower should have surely nailed some of them in then. You know what I mean? What are you... Yeah, you'd like to think so, Callum, wouldn't you? But it doesn't happen that way.

17:35Lewis Bowden:You didn't have more possession, and they had an XG of 2.61. You had an XG of 1. Yeah, they just look a lot more clinical But that's your strength What are you on about? You had two big chances They had three Right, but they were more clinical in the chances that weren't You are seriously not trying to dress this up as you lost 5-1 You know, if you lost 2 or 3-1 I can kind of understand your points here And bear in mind you told us last week you've got the best firepower at the tournament but now you're telling me oh, well, they were just more clinical you've got the best firepower so shouldn't you be more clinical yeah they just they were better than us on the day oh Emryk Emryk you're flapping here son so you're not going to win are you still going to go further than the English I mean if last night were all to go by I think we've got a pretty good chance you lost 5-1 what are you on about you drew to an awful guy on the side we didn't concede 5-2 that's for sure Jesus we battered we battered a top 10 nation in the first game.

18:42Yeah, the Croatia are OAPs, aren't they? Do you know what the average age of their squad is? Oh, you're going to tell me it's something like 26 or something like that. Yeah, it's 27, yeah. Look at the starting players. They've got Kovacic and Modric starting most games.

18:55Lewis Bowden:Kovacic didn't start. We started against Panama. He didn't start against England. Who's talking about Panama? That's why I said they start most games. England's average age against Croatia was 26. Theirs was 27. But again, you played Ghana last night and you were awful. Yeah, we couldn't break them down. It's one of them. Sometimes it can happen in these tournaments and teams put two banks of foot. Maybe you should have tried that against the Dutch. I'd like an apology on the Madreke statement, by the way, Tom. Madreke's played well, I think, in the first two games. He's been one of our better players.

19:35Lewis Bowden:No, that's ridiculous. He's been better than Alanga. Oh, yeah. We hasn't. Oh, God, I forgot about that. He said Alanga's better than Madre King. Mental. Alanga scored. Alanga scored. Oh, fucking hell. All right, then sign him up. So does a Jordan play, is he better? No matter where he can, I'd give it a toss-up. No, you're begging it here. You are shit. So are yous? So are yous? You aren't that good. But again, based on what? a draw against Garner who just defended really well and did a job on us. Which can happen. Because you know when you're a good team, right, you know when you're a good team, teams come out and just put 11 men behind the ball and it can be difficult to break down.

20:19Lewis Bowden:I know you've never experienced that but it can be quite difficult when you're a top team and you come off against these teams and they just look, they were great. I thought Garner played really well. They were aggressive. We just couldn't break them down. I don't think it's that big of a deal. We're still top of our group. We're still going to top our group. How about you? Yeah, we might come second.

20:41Lewis Bowden:Sure you are, buddy. You're going to still beat the Japanese, yeah? Yeah. Yeah. And would you beat England? No sweat. What's that based on?

20:52Bit of stats and mostly delusion.

20:55Lewis Bowden:Fair enough. What stats? I think we're going to beat them. I haven't got them to hand. Eric, you... I haven't got them to hand. Yeah, but what stats are you referring to? I'm not asking for the exact numbers of the stats, but what stats are you referring to? That means you can beat the Japanese, because when they played Holland, they nearly beat them. And you lost 5-1. You keep going back to this 5-1. That's because it was the result, mate. I don't know if you watched it, but you lost 5-1 to Holland, who, by the way, you've gone about England. We're better than them. No, you aren't. No, you aren't.

21:29That's insane.

21:31Lewis Bowden:What happened the last time we played them in a major tournament? what you beat them yeah there you go what happened last time you played them in a major tournament the other day yeah we didn't beat them say it say what happened say the score yeah we didn't beat them say the good boy no no no no good boy no no no no mate I mean at this rate obviously because the Japanese are going to beat you there's a high chance you don't go through No, I mean, we'll go through regardless I don't think that No, not necessarily, mate We can go all different It'll come down to goal scored So, we've got six If it comes to that, we've got six So we'll probably beat them Yeah, but teams like Yeah, but like Belgium will probably win their last game There's teams that are probably going to Finish on four points There's a lot of teams that are going to finish on four points I think you're in trouble, mate Do you think you beat us?

22:28Lewis Bowden:Do you think you beat England?

22:31Hello?

22:33Lewis Bowden:Has Kat got your tongue? Well, no, you've changed. You've changed in one week. In one week. You said last week you'd definitely beat us and you'd go further than us. What's happened? No, I didn't say last week we'd beat you. I said we'd go further than you. Right, so what would happen if... I still think we will. I still think we will. What's that based on? And don't just say delusion and stats. No, if we come second in our group, we play Brazil. fucking hell good luck with that and we beat Brazil oh man and then if we win that game we play Ivory Coast oh shut up shut up I hope you beat Brazil alright are we going to indulge this I hope you should I hope you should shall we indulge it right how how can you beat Brazil if you can't beat Holland not only beat Holland get near them I think we can we can do anyone on the day we could we're a good team but Netherlands is forward lining isn't even as good as Brazil's and all they just put five past you do you think Holland have got a serious chance of winning this competition no right so what the fuck makes you think you can beat Brazil

23:57hello because they're just not that good

24:00Lewis Bowden:you keep saying this like you're not shite you're really really really really below average international side mate I understand this might be a bit and they're your team and all this you are really poor I think we're poor defensive you're poor all over I told you this last week Victor Jokerez is a bang average striker Alexander Izak is coming off one of the worst seasons he's ever had in professional football. No one knows if he'll ever get back to his best. The rest of your team, my God, my Gideon. Him against the Netherlands. Mate, yes. What? He's had a really good game against the Netherlands.

24:41Yeah, but he played all right, didn't he? But who else have you got? Like I said, last time we've got Jokeres, we've got Gunninson and Alanga on either wing. We've got Ayari in the middle. Alanga didn't even start. You can't even get in your team. He come on in, he made a difference. Oh, whoa, what a difference that was.

24:59Lewis Bowden:Jesus Christ, he made some difference. He made it 5-1 instead of 5-0. He made it 4-1. No, I'm on about the end result, not the exact time he scored. But yeah, sorry, he's done me there. I'm looking at your team and it's hilarious the way you talk about other teams.

25:22Lewis Bowden:You've got a starting centre mid who plays for Celtic. Can you hear Cogs going? Yeah Like Goodmanson Is just a bang Average Premier League player Goodmanson Wouldn't get In our B team Our B squad And you're talking about Oh you're not as good As you think you are You're not as good As you think you are Fucking no You've got 36 year old In goal Dog shit Yeah Lindelof Lindelof Dog shit Can't get Can't get a kick For Villa

25:53Lewis Bowden:Gustav Lega and Bielke, whoever the fuck that is. Braga's starting centre-half. Good player. Jesper Karlstrom wouldn't get in Ireland's B team, let alone ours. Emmerich, I need to hear it from you. Are you sticking with it? Are you going to get further than the English? Yes. Fucking mental. Will you come back on next week when you're lost with your fan? When you're out, when you get knocked out, can you come on next week, please? Absolutely. All right, mate. Thanks, Emmerich. Have a good one, bro. See you next week, buddy.

26:29Lewis Bowden:He lost his nut. I don't know what... Some people are just... It's like banging your head against a wall, isn't it? He'll die on it, won't he? He will die on that hill. It's like... Yeah, but you're not as good as you think you are. Whilst they've just lost to Olin 5-1 and he's saying they're going to beat Brazil. Weird, isn't it, that? I just... It's mad, that. I don't know, man. I wonder what it's like being like that. But you know when you've considered... He's quite blissful. I bet he does live a blissful life, though. Oh, that it just bounces off you? Yeah, I just feel like, just blissful ignorance in it, I suppose.

27:04But the answer to like, oh, you're going to make your defence a bit better. Yeah, but we've got Izak. He said, yeah. He's just going to do everything.

27:10Lewis Bowden:I liked when he said, after the hydration break, they controlled the game. They lost 5-1. Yeah, I can get behind that one. They lost 5-1. I'm trying to figure this out. Yeah, I'm going to keep having another sip of this. I'm not having another sip of that one because that's awful. It's definitely some Caribbean-like fruity thing in it. Might be haitie. It's not from UK, that, is it? Let's be serious. That's really thrown me off, man. Like, really thrown me off. And it's a game that's not been played yet? No. Shall we have a look at the fixtures? They're going to bring England in at one point. England-Panama.

27:48Lewis Bowden:Could be. But then what's that? That Madrid?

27:55That feels a bit fruity though, no? I'm going England-Panamo. I'm just going to put it on there now.

28:03Lewis Bowden:Just looking at the pictures, or could it be... Qatar won't have a beer, will they? Because it's a... I said this about Panama last week. I don't think they have a beer. You are? I don't think they have a beer. Yeah, I don't... Obviously, like the Saudis and that won't have one, will they? Boring. I'll tell you what it could be. Well, we couldn't find a beer for them anyway. Could be Curacao Ivory Coast. I said last week if Panama got a tinny and you laughed at me, I think that's actually it. I didn't laugh. I said of course they have yeah exactly you laughed at I asked the question well yeah because of it well yeah but I didn't know every country that's non-Muslim will have a fucking tinny they all do well I'm I'm throwing it out there I think this could be Curacao Ivory Coast and what are you saying I'm winning England Panama are we far off either of us you know what okay I'll tell you you're both wrong and then you guess at the end as well okay you're both wrong yeah are we on a sort of vibe beer?

28:53Are we close? No, I'm brilliant. That's class. Could it be South Africa, South Korea? No, because he just said we're not on a vibe with like Curacao. What's that? Could it be South Africa, South Korea? I've got nothing for you. Or Ivory Court. Didn't you say Ivory Court, she said?

29:11Lewis Bowden:Yeah, true, but it's like the other end of Africa, so far away, way. Far away, way. Could it be... That one, the clear one, if you can't, obviously you can't see it in the camera, it's completely clear, and it's like really fruity. It is quite nice. It's so strong. No, I don't like that. It just smells like pot. I kind of like it. Yeah, it is strong though, the way it feels. Really strong. Yeah, I'll be honest, that's really throwing me off. Or could it be Norway, France? Yeah, well, if you're saying that we're not close on a vibe, we're one of the ones that we've gone far. What with the noise?

29:44Lewis Bowden:Anyway, moving on. Let's talk about, obviously, what I think a common theme. Oh, the gut. Is that what's up next? The common theme of this World Cup has been big, big stars and names delivering scoring goals, which I think has been a massive part of it. Ronaldo finally put his stamp on this tournament. Two good goals yesterday. Yeah. The first one was really good. Yeah, it was. It was a nice finish. But that was a really good finish. But it's Uzbekistan. Yeah, but then at the same time, we've just drawn to Ghana, haven't we? Do you know what I mean? You can only beat what's in front. Ghana are slightly better than Uzbekistan.

30:18Yeah, I know, but you can only beat what's in front here and score against what's in front.

30:20Lewis Bowden:No, you're all right. You're all right. And I thought Portugal, obviously, they did what they had to do. They are still forcing it to him, though. And I know this in a five-nil way. Do you think, see, I didn't think that yesterday. Oh, mate. Bruno had a shot or something, and initially he's like, oh, God, where's Ronaldo? Sorry. You know what I mean? Because he could have maybe passed it and shot. It's like that's the first four all the time. I do think... I still thought they were good, and Ronaldo were good. Yeah, I thought they were good. Ronaldo were good. I think their wingers are going to let them down though.

30:49Lewis Bowden:They haven't quite. I mean, can a team with João Felix in this day and age with a World Cup? Do you know what I mean? As good as their midfield is. I don't rate them defensively that much either, to be honest. I think they're similar to us defensively. Yeah, but then everybody said that's our weakest point, wouldn't they? I still think they're weak. Yeah, 100%. And I do still think Ronaldo will be an issue in the latter stages. Against a decent sighted, yeah. Do you think he should get the assist for the Nuno Mendes free kick? No. he'll claim it though he was he was claiming it right we have got a caller on the line who wants to discuss Ronaldo let me guess it's his goat I might let I might let Callum take this wrong because no I'll bring him in and then I'll let you I'll let you have a little debate with him and I might just chime in because I feel like I've been I've been spatting off a bit yeah this is your channel

31:40hello

31:41Lewis Bowden:Shawnee boy hello Welcome to the calling show, my friend. You sound Aussie. I am. It is currently 1.14 in the morning. Oh, mate. Whereabouts in Australia are you calling from? I'm in Melbourne. I was in Fed Square the other day for the USA game. Oh, yeah, you weren't. You weren't great, were you, mate? I thought you were going to get something from that as well. So did I, but then the ref had other plans, so, you know. You blaming the ref? You blaming the ref for that one? Come on, you're better than that. Not the entirety of the game, but USA were not that much better than us. I don't... You know what?

32:19Lewis Bowden:I actually don't disagree with that. I don't think the USA are as good as I think they think. I think they're getting a bit overexcited. But we're not here to talk about the Aussies. We're here to talk about Cristiano Ronaldo. So hit me. I don't know what you're going to say, so I will prepare and I might let Callum take over. Ronaldo is Portugal's best attacker, improves their chance of winning, and he will have more impact on this team in this World Cup than he did in the Euros in 2016. How many did he score in 2016? Wow, I mean, let me just... He scored three. Let me try and unpack this. God, that's not that very hard, is it?

32:55Lewis Bowden:And also... And he didn't play it final, and he was a manager. Yeah, he didn't... They didn't even win a game in 90 minutes, did they? Didn't there win not one game in 90 minutes? I just remember him online just waddling alongside when he injured. It was... I mean, obviously the most important game, he didn't even play, which they wouldn't. And is it your goat first? Can we just ask that? He might be. He might be. I may be a United fan. You can't take this guy seriously straight off. Here we go. Here we go. The game against Uzbekistan, Ronaldo, the new men's goal was because of Ronaldo. Fucking hell!

33:32They did not move until the ball was past the line. The keeper did not move until the ball was past the line. Yeah, because he's shit, mate. He plays for Uzbekistan.

33:39Lewis Bowden:He's shit. It was stood behind his own wall. He couldn't even see. The goal is shit, mate. That's why he plays Uzbekistan. He is eye... He's playing eye tag with the goat. He's staring into his soul. Oh, my bro's going to... It is the most saveable penalty... Free kick of all time. Bro's about to bust. Your man could save that free kick. What's that got to do? Exactly. Exactly. Exactly. By the way, it's a good strike, but he should save it. What has a Nuno Mendes free kick got to do with Ronaldo? This is the issue with Ronaldo fans. Ronaldo... Ronaldo has taken every... How many times have you seen Ronaldo giving up a free kick, especially in a spot just outside the box?

34:17Stop counting. You're done. I don't know. He's gone for it every single time. Obviously, the game plan for Uzbekistan would be if there's a free kick outside the box, Ronaldo's going to take it. They are set up. The keeper is ready to dive. When you look at the keeper, all the weight is on his other foot, ready to go to that far side. He was not expecting the noon men, No one was expecting a new net. This is your first point on why Ronaldo's good, because Nuno Mendes took a free kick. This is your first reason. You're nitpicking at what I'm saying.

34:51Lewis Bowden:It's a fair comment. What the fuck's he supposed to do with Ronaldo? Okay, most people thought Ronaldo was going to take the free kick, and then he didn't. Wow. That's amazing. And they scored, and the keeper did not react. I promise you, the keeper could see clearly. Can I ask you a question? Do you think the goalkeeper's looking at the player or the ball? He's watching the player. You're an idiot. Right, next point. Next point. What's your next point? White hat. What? No, what the fuck are you on about? Calm down. No, what's your next point about why is Ronaldo their best attacker then? Because he's easily still their best number nine.

35:33Their best attacker. I agree. I think he's the best striker still, but that's because everybody else is crap.

35:39Lewis Bowden:You think he's more important to the team than Bruno Fernandes? I would argue yes. Brother. Brother. What's this based on? I don't think Bruno is the best midfielder in Portugal. Yeah, that's probably not crazy to say. But as the 10, he's more of an attacker, isn't he? you seriously think at this big age Ronaldo is more is more important to Portugal than Bruno Fernandes yes I would say yes I would say yes 100 % all of this because they battered Uzbekistan do you think he'll be able to hack it in big games you know obviously Portugal is going to go through first time to play someone like England are they going to be alright with Ronaldo is England their first match up no I don't think so I don't know But regardless, just as an example, if they're playing like a France or a Spain, do you think they'll be able to go through against them with Ronaldo?

36:36Yes. Spain, I do not rate Spain whatsoever. European champions?

36:42Lewis Bowden:What, the European champions? Yeah. Beat England. Huh? Beat England. Yeah, they also beat France. But no, I'm sorry. You cannot be the going years' favourites drawing to Cape Verde like that. Mate, I'm sorry. Okay, right. Yeah, you do realise Portugal drew to DR Congo. Dr Congo. And DR was a much better side than Cape Verde. I don't think that's necessarily true, mate. Cape Verde, they're just drew to Uruguay. They've backed up that performance. And your argument biggest dwarf is still crap. They still should win. I still think Congo was a better team. Yeah, but again, you said to Callum he's nitpicking.

37:25Lewis Bowden:You're nitpicking now. They're both poor teams who these big teams should be beating. no yeah yeah i do agree with that but but from an overall standpoint conco is also rated higher in the fifa rankings if we want to right do you know do you know who do you know who won the last world cup yeah do you know who their first game was against this year no no no the last world cup who won it you remember right argentina yeah who was their first game in that tournament Do you remember? Saudi Arabia, they lost 2-1. Yeah, there you go. Who was Spain's first game in the 2010 World Cup when they won it? 2010?

38:02I've got no...

38:03Lewis Bowden:They lost 1-0 to Switzerland and went on to win it. So just because you're telling me because Spain drew to Cape Verde, they can't win it now. But the World Cup's bigger. There's an extra game they have to play in the knockouts. What, against fucking Timbuktu? It's irrelevant, isn't it? They've still proven themselves. They're the current European champions. Yeah, two years ago. A lot can change in two years. Look at Italy. Italy won the Euros six years ago. It's a bit different. Yeah, it's a bit different to the most recent major tournament. What's changed? What's changed in their team? If anything, they've got better.

38:46Lewis Bowden:Who was their starting lineup in that final? Very similar to what it is now, but Jamal's two years older now, so he's two years better. yeah but still and there's other players like Rodri that are two years older two years shitter a lot can change in two years yeah I'll give you that Rodri isn't the player he was but he's still one of anyway this has got nothing I don't know how we've got onto Spain I don't understand how you can watch Portugal especially that first game and still defend Ronaldo like you know he's way past it right and he's probably going to be an issue for this team like you should but Portugal in this day and age shouldn't be playing a 41-year-old Ronaldo.

39:25Lewis Bowden:And it's kind of sad to see, isn't it? The worst they play is their number nine. That's the issue. I think that is the major issue. I personally would probably play Ramos over him. You would play Ramos? Probably, yeah. I don't know if I would do that. I just think they're just lost regardless. I don't think they've got enough depth or options up there. So they've got to play Ronaldo because of what he is. And also, he's not going to sit on bench, is he? You're joking. That's what I mean. His ego is going to be too much of an issue for the squad, I think. I just think... Don't get me wrong, he can still finish chances.

39:56Lewis Bowden:I think Portugal would have a decent chance if they had a different manager and Ronaldo wasn't playing. Does Sean think that Ronaldo and Portugal can win it?

40:06Oh. Yeah, yeah. No, you don't. I'll say yeah. Yes, I do. You're just dying on sword, man. No, you don't. Why do you think that? No, I'm thinking about like... Why do you think that though? I'm looking at Fopmob. As it stands, as it stands right now, They play Ghana in 32, and then they have to play Spain in 16. Ronaldo's not going to sniff against Ghana. Mate, they're not beating Spain.

40:31I back Portugal more than I back Spain in that game.

40:34Lewis Bowden:Why? I just think Portugal are a better team overall. And I think Ronaldo will finally be able to score a goal in a knockout stage of a World Cup. What, at 41? He hasn't been able to do it his whole life, but now he's suddenly going to do it at 41. Absolutely. Do you not think he's completely past it? Completely past it? No. There's a reason why he's still starting and scoring at 41. Yeah, it's not to do with his playing ability, mate. So you're telling me that his goals are just, he just stands there and the ball magically gets to the back of his foot and it just somehow goes in the back of his foot?

41:13Lewis Bowden:No, no, Ronaldo's not going to lose his ability to finish. He's one of the best finishers we've ever seen. that goes without saying but you know for a fact he's not going to press for once you're a man down when you're off the ball he hasn't got the same sharpness he used to have I even seen him yesterday trying to drop in the hole and get it on the half turn know your role so I'm just getting the box and finish chances he won't allow himself not to be the main man the main guy even though he's no longer probably in their top six best players he still thinks he's their best player but he still creates those chances that he's still dragging that much attention from a defense to him the first goal he scored against Uzbekistan sorry against two every player in the box was still still except for Ronaldo against two sorry Uzbekistan good team and again when you get to a lot of stages he's not going to get that time or be able to he's not quick enough to pull them sort of movements off against decent defenders what about the game against Dior Congo when he was absolutely honking what about that one yeah look It wasn't a great game, but hey, as you said, last World Cup, Argentina lost their first game.

42:21Spain lost their first one in 2010. Everyone has a bad game.

42:24Lewis Bowden:No, no, no, but as a team, yeah, he was terrible and he was an issue and they still didn't take him off. I don't think he was as big as an issue as people make him out to be. Yeah, because you want to fucking rim him, but... We've already established that. You just want to hate on him. You just want to hate on him. Why would I want to hate on him? I grew up on Ronaldo, mate. The masses just absolutely despise Ronaldo. Why do you think that is? Why do you think that is? He's not very likeable, is he? Not overly, no. There you go then. Doesn't help himself, does he, when he goes, my dream is to win the World Cup.

43:03Lewis Bowden:It'll be a dream of mine. Messi wins it. That is not a dream of mine. It's only seven games. It doesn't mean anything. Oh, my dream is to win the most golden balls, and I think I deserve it. Messi wins eight. It's a fix. It's all a fix. He's not very likeable. What? No, not at all. It's a fix. Messi does not deserve eight vellandalls. You know, you're right. He probably deserves about 15, but we're not going to get into that. But so you honestly think this Portugal team can win the World Cup? Do you think they will, though? Easily. Easily? Yes, I think that I have them probably in like my top three.

43:43This is crazy. I don't know what you've seen to make you think that. Look at their team. Look at their striker.

43:52Lewis Bowden:Brother, you're doing tricks on it. It's crazy. This is fucking... Ronaldo. What? Ronaldo. Oh, my God, Ronaldo. Be honest. Where's your left hand right now? Yeah. Do you have pictures of Ronaldo in your bedroom? No, I don't have pictures. You do, don't you? That was a little geek. No, man. That was like, no, I don't. Do you have to be honest? Tell me now, Sean. I just think Ronaldo is still doing it. Oh, yeah. He's really doing it for you anyway.

44:29Lewis Bowden:Mate, you are absolutely mental, by the way, because he's... Bro, you've been in Saudi for four years and you're telling me he's not past it. No, he's not. there's a reason why he's still starting every game and scoring goals there's nobody else there's no one else

44:53I will be waiting I will be waiting for this discord call at the end of the world cup when he's holding the trophy at the end of it how about this

45:02Lewis Bowden:when he drops a generational stinker against Colombia in the next game can you come back on next week and apologise happily Yeah? And if he scores... Happily. If he scores and plays well, I'll apologise to you or I just won't let you back on. Happily. And then, right. So, Sean, tell me two questions before we leave you. Where do you think England are going to get to in the World Cup? And the Aussies, actually. Tell me where you think the Aussies and the English, how you think both are going to do. Realistically, the Aussies, we play Argentina in the round of 16, so we probably lose there again.

45:39Lewis Bowden:Round of 16, ooh. Pass the 32? We play Iran in the round of 32. Daisy Pickens. What? Do you reckon? I think they'll do it. I think that's a pretty even game. Iran are all right, you know. No. Iran are okay. I'm back in short on you. Are you thinking about, I think you might be getting them confused with Iraq. Iran aren't that bad. Don't get me wrong. I'd probably expect you to beat them, but they're not like horrendous. yeah but they're not they're not on Australia they drew with Belgium and Belgium are better than Australia I know it don't always work like that but I think I don't know I don't mean that's a given I think that's a tougher game than you probably think because also I think you suit playing teams who are going to come at you and you can hit them on the break Iran are just going to sit back I don't know if you I don't know that's fine we still have the class to be able to attack the class championship ball yes Yes.

46:38Lewis Bowden:Where's the class in the team, bud? Irincundo. The goat. You think Irincundo is class at this level? Fuck off, Sean. Right, so you think you're going to get knocked out in the round of 16? This is mental, by the way. You think you're going to get... No, that isn't mental. Just everything else you said about Ronaldo and then Irincundo. So you think the Aussies are going to go out in the round of 16? Where do you think England are going to go out? I reckon England go out in the semis. Oh, okay. Ironic because you've had a semi this whole time talking about Ronaldo. I don't think England will be able to win it under...

47:17I think England can only win a World Cup with a coach that is British. I don't like the idea of a foreign manager managing that. Maybe it's because you don't like it. I just feel like there's a disconnect from your manager when your manager's not British.

47:32Lewis Bowden:I'll be honest. I'll be honest. You're miles off it there. The players love him. they probably they definitely do they definitely do but I just I just don't think it's possible I just I'd be shocked but England's still probably the best team on paper at the World Cup so nah I don't think that's true but nice compliment but I don't think that's true but anyway I look forward to speaking to you next week mate when your goat drops a fucking honker against Colombia easily I'll see you next week alright mate enjoy can I ask you something go on Sean Are you still here Sean Yes Do you watch Newcastle Jets at all When I have to Yes Do you know Clayton Taylor is No Oh shit Barnsley have signed him We're trying to get some info on him Sorry guys Time to take it off for a minute Right See you next week Sean All the best mate What are we doing We're gearing up all that time This is a Says you Last week by the way A Barnsley bigger than Swindon Look Ground rules this is you're on the big stage now son alright do I have to turn up 20 minutes later this is a proper this is a proper show proper settle this we're not talking about non-league teams alright none of that shit alright no one gives a fuck about Barnsley but you brought it up last week yeah because it's funny to take the piss out yeah because you're so you're so little teeny tiny Barnsley it's in Albion a sign Jimmy J Morgan good signing that do you know who he is you got a clue I've done Peterborough last year yeah I've done my research he's a striker mate yeah you've looked at his foot my man you know I've seen him play many a time.

49:05Lewis Bowden:He's a friend of the show. Is he? Yeah, a friend of the show. He's actually a player. Don't worry about me, mate. He's going to be a backup anyway. He's going to be that good. Is he? Probably. What, for four million quid? Yeah, probably, mate. We've got dough to spend this summer, mate. That's what happens when you're a big club. When you're a big club. Will you actually go to any games? Might do, yeah. Depends. Depends if I'm earning stacking bread or... Oh, God. Not everyone's lives revolve around going to Oakwell. Right, moving on. We're going to talk about the greatest World Cup goal of all time.

49:40Lewis Bowden:Now, Stanley's put on the prep here. James Rodriguez versus Uruguay, surely. Surely, question mark. I don't know. There's a few. What's the one that springs to mind for you? There was a lot in 2010, actually, with that Jabalani, wasn't there? Yeah, Trippi is my favourite one. It's not asking your favourite. All right. To be honest, I don't know. I like the South African one as well when that the first goal Shabalala I like that greatest goal ever though I do think we had this discussion of a down pitch so I do think Rodriguez is so good because I remember we did a Chris MD shoot where we were trying to recreate goals and mate it was impossible to recreate and that was with like a hundred not hundreds of attempts but tens and tens of attempts it was fucking impossible but oh I'm trying to think Maradona's against England with that it woke up yeah not the dirty cheating one the other one where he took it past like eight blogs is that not just the best yeah you might be right right talking of greatest goals of all time we have got a caller who he wants to let us know what his take is I'm hearing he's Aussie so I think I know what he's going to say I know what he's going to say what Tim Cale Tim Cale that volley it was unreal to be fair it worked good but like come on isn't that the only goal I've ever scored is that what it is oh You can say that to him.

51:01I can edit that out. I like my Aussie.

51:06Lewis Bowden:MC Birdo, welcome to the show, my friend. Right, I'm hearing you want to talk to us about the greatest goal ever scored at the World Cup, so talk to me. Italian fireplace, talk to me. Yeah, it's good to talk. How are we? I'm very well, mate. Where are you calling from? Calling from London, but you probably hear that Aussie accent, don't you? Yes, it's full of them down south-west. Is that where you're based? I mean, you don't need to release your address. Oh, yeah. Live in London. Grew up in Australia. Born in England. Good man. Good man. A man of, I'll tell you what, very cultured man. Right, you're talking to me and Callum.

51:40Lewis Bowden:What do you want to say? I want to say, I think you guys mentioned it on the pod the other week, but greatest goal, my greatest World Cup goal for me is the Tim Cahill volley against Netherlands. The same World Cup as the James Rodriguez one, but for me, can't compare. Yeah, I must admit. what's your name sorry because we've just got MC Birdo on the screen yes Harry Harry yeah I did just preface this before we got you on saying I thought you'd say that it was a fucking banger I can't lie it was a very good goal but are you just speaking from the heart there do you reckon well I don't support Australia so it's oh oh do you not you must have some sort of connection to it most so you're so you support England I support England yeah the first World Cup I watched 2006 in England with my dad so you can't change teams, right?

52:29Lewis Bowden:Do you not even... Do you not follow a bit of both? I think you can get away with that. I keep an eye on Australia, but yeah, that's about it. That surprised me because you sound Australian. Do, don't I? Yeah. It's gone, the British accent. That's fucking mad. Right, so obviously if they played each other, you'd want England to win. I think three lines, mate. Good fucking lad. Get this man knighted. Right, well, I was going to talk to you about the Aussies' chances, but we might as well talk about England then. What do you think about the performance last night? uh see we're probably going to play a low block if we get to the until about the quarters if we get to them we're going to play teams they're going to play a low block and and that's you can't play that team yeah if we're conversing a low block so but bellingham's bellingham's not the sort of you know do something sort of intricate in a tight space take a man on yeah that kind of thing like foden or palmer yeah matter what game gordon needs space in behind there's none of that so for me what I was thinking is you sacrifice maybe one of Rice or Anderson and maybe even play like two 10s like Rodgers and Eze maybe or Tony up front with Kane someone to hit someone to win headers or win fouls in and around the box or just someone to occupy the defenders because like you say I think especially when with Kane always dropping deep there's very rarely a focal point when you play against these teams I do agree with you I actually think I'd even play Rodgers off the left so you can come in and like you can get overloads and stuff and like O 'Reilly should be playing in these games like not fucking Jed Spence like you say I think I must admit I was I think he got it wrong yesterday Tuchel but I think he is the type to learn from it in fairness yeah he won't make that mistake again I think he played DJ Ed Spence because he thought Semenya might be on that side proper proper pitch side DJ Ed Yeah, I don't know what...

54:23Lewis Bowden:Yeah, I don't know. I think... I'm not sure if he overthought it yesterday, but I don't think we'll be seeing Gordon again against a low block. No, we're not starting. But I have heard on the grapevine, Rashford's got a bit of a knock. That's why he's not been playing. I mean, do we carry these fellas then? I don't know. I do agree with you though. I think, again, if we come up against, I don't know, let's say a DR Congo in the round of 32, we can... Rice and Anderson just can't play. We can't play both. It's such a waste. You don't need to. Exactly. You'd be better off playing Rice and Bellingham.

54:57Lewis Bowden:Bellingham could do that role. Against a lesser team. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then at least you don't sacrifice not playing Bellingham if he's not, obviously he's not going to do... I'd worry about that against Mexico, though. I'd want to play like a... You keep bringing Mexico up. They're shit, mate. Yeah, I know, but they're still going to fancy the chances against us. I don't think they're going to sit back at their own ground like that. If they don't sit back against us, they're going to get fucking hammered, mate. Yeah, good. You know what I mean? So, are you worried about them then? No, I'm saying I don't want to set up with, like, like you're sitting there.

55:23I don't want to take Mexico and think that there's some, like, poxy side, like, Ghana are.

55:27Lewis Bowden:What are you on about? No, I'm saying I want to set up, like, I want to set up like we did against Croatia, against Mexico. Yeah, we would. That's what I just said at the start. No, but you're on about, we're on about, like, the shit teams, like DR Congo. Yeah, I know, but I'm saying I don't want to treat Mexico like one of them. All right. You know what I mean? Yeah. Was it me? Was it Mexico? Jessica, weird, weirdo. Right, so how far do you think we're going to get, mate?

55:56Lewis Bowden:Harry? I think we win it. Do you? Good, lad. I think we win it. Wow. Do you still think we win it? I think we needed that game to know how to beat those low-block teams because I don't think Stuka will make that mistake again. This guy gets it. Do you know what? I do kind of hear that. I'd rather him do it now than in the round of 32 or round of 16 where on another day that's a game where we lose on penalties because obviously you never know what can happen when it goes to that but you're still confident we're going to win it then who do you think is the biggest threat? Spain or France? Yeah the French look around the French defensively but you can't get at them because they're too going forward I think it feels better than theirs so we'd have a bit more I do think we'll get to the final because if you look at our site looking at the live as it is now on the as if it was stopped now.

56:48Lewis Bowden:Yeah, we avoid Spain and France, don't we? Yeah. Well, if we play Brazil in the quarters, we beat them. I'd fancy that, yeah. I'd fancy that. I do think the Argentinians... France goes against Argentina. I don't know. Mate, they've just got that no-hound mess. Well, they've just got him, yeah. And they're... I don't know. I'd really worry about Argentina. I don't think the best of the team, though. I think the defence is poor. Ours isn't great. It's better than Argentina's. I mean, it feels better than Argentina's. I know, but Argentina They have a know-how. It's the same team from four years ago and they won it.

57:20Lewis Bowden:Yeah. Can I say one more thing? Go on, mate. Just about when we verse those teams in their low block and they just sit right in. I don't understand. We've got so many players of some good quality. If you get a glimpse of goal from about 30 yards, just take a shot. Yeah, I do. Because all we do is recycle it for five minutes and then put a cross in doesn't be the first match. It's almost like they wait for the perfect moment, don't they? A lot of the time. They don't take enough risk. I think that's always been a thing. They were good yesterday against us, though. Every time we got it on edge at box, they pressed us.

57:49Lewis Bowden:Yeah. Oh, look, I'm not too disheartened with it. I'm glad you are buzzing with it. But yeah, thanks for calling in, mate. We might get you back on when England finally win it. But cheers for phoning in, bud. Let's go. Enjoy the rest of the World Cup, mate. Wow, I think he shares your optimism there. Yeah, I love that guy. He's my favourite caller. Is it optimism or delusion, though? Yeah, but then going back to first caller again, if we didn't back it, like, then we, do you know what I mean? There's always going to be someone. No, I mean, yeah, you've always got to be confident, but I just do always think I'm still going to stick with, I think.

58:20It's arrogance when it's England and it's confidence when it's everybody. Yeah. And we deserve to be up there like that. We deserve to think that we've got a chance.

58:26Lewis Bowden:Yeah, right. Anyway, let's finish on the beers. I'm not trying that first and again because it's so shit. Not second one even. That's just like a very, very standard lager. I definitely don't know what that is though. I have 100 % had that before Do you reckon? Mm If you've had that before What in England That is a uni drink Or You reckon? Yeah it's got to be Smell it man I didn't go to uni here though Did I? Oh yeah I was on the four logos Oh here we go Um No I need Do you know what? I quite like it The second one? Yeah Nah So what's the picture? What's the The European one? Is the clear one the second one you just said you liked?

59:12Lewis Bowden:Yeah. You like the clear one? Kind of, yeah. I like the clear one. That's awful. I am really, really struggling with it, though, because I'm trying to think. The problem with the European ones is we would have had a lot of the... Like, for example, Germany. There's not many German beers we wouldn't have reckoned on. Germany wouldn't do a beer like that, I don't think. But you can't... We've no idea about nailing it down to one because it's in a plastic cup after a tinny. God, this is so... Could it be Scotland Brazil? Nah Could that be like Tenants And that's like a Brazilian Fruity Samba

59:51Lewis Bowden:I've nailed it I'm going Scotland Brazil Do it again I'm going Scotland Brazil That's a Brazilian beer It's a game that's not been played yet Rio de Janeiro I'll go Norway, France Which one do you think is the fruity one then? French, maybe I have not got a clue I know I've had that or something similar before Let's get the reveal Number one Castle Lager South Africa I said South Korea, South Africa What's the other one? Fuck! What is this? Soju. I've never had that. Oh my God. Where's the dog on front? A melon soju. Nah. I've never had that. What's the percent? Yeah, it's 13%. Yeah. Jeez, in a bottle like that?

1:00:51Lewis Bowden:Oh my God. I actually said that and then we were like, oh. That's Stanley's bad advice. Oh man. Awful. A what? A soju. A soju. Soju, that's nice. I'll be honest. 13%. That's fucking decent. Is that a beer though? Nah, come on. It's like a wine really, isn't it? That's a beer. What's it got in it? Does it actually say what it is? No, it does say, but it's just a little - It's got something funky in it though. Soju, let's Google what soju actually means. Soju meaning. Have a look at that. I need to see what's - Soju is a clear distilled alcoholic beverage native to Korea, traditionally made from grains like rice, barley or wheat, which is very similar to what you make beer from.

1:01:35Lewis Bowden:I'll keep you on your toes. Well, I nearly nailed it. I nearly got it. I thought I... Someone said it. Me? I said it. Maybe South Africa fucking... Tell you what, that lager's harrowing. 5 % this. 5 % this one is. 5%. A few of them. Right, thanks for joining us again for The Calling Show. We will be back next week.
