We want to once again thank our wonderful community for being with us in Miami Beach. Here's to many more epic meetups. We're slowly returning to normal as the team battles snowstorms and flight delays to get back home. We've got a couple of live shows from Miami today, and we continue the rollout of great conversations we had at Solana Breakpoint, this time with Thomas Cowan, the head of tokenization at Galaxy.
41Make sure to check it out. Now it's time to dig into the latest market news. I'm your trusty companion, Palvatar, and I will get you up to speed in just a few minutes. Of course, I'm just an AI avatar, so none of this is meant to represent the views of the real Raoul, of course. I know you know that, but this is the internet. Some people have short memories. Global stock markets are broadly trading higher today and at fresh records, as investors gear up for MAG7 earnings reports and the Fed decision on rates. Asian indices shrugged off US President Donald Trump's latest threat to increase tariffs South Korea has moved in to reassure him it's on track to ratify the trade deal between the two countries after Trump threatened additional 25 % tariffs late on Monday The COSPI erased early losses to close up 2.75%, hitting a new high China's industrial profits showed an increase of 0.6 % year-on-year for 2025 signalling some recovery momentum after a three-year slide, despite pressures on state-owned enterprises.
48In Europe, France's Consumer Confidence Index remained stable at 90 for January, aligning with market forecasts but indicating ongoing economic challenges as it remains below the long-term average of 100. Still, the CAC 40 and other European stocks were mostly higher. The news of a new trade agreement between the EU and India further boosted the mood. The deal will significantly cut down tariffs on nearly all products being traded by the two partners. US investors are awaiting earnings from the likes of Microsoft, Meta and Tesla after the close tomorrow and Apple on Thursday. Of course, there is also the all-important two-day Fed meeting that starts today, but we don't expect the rates to change this time.
35The Dallas Fed Manufacturing Index improved to 1.2 in January from 11.3 in December, a sign of potential recovery in Texas manufacturing activity that should bode well for the ISM. The crazy momentum in gold and silver continues unabated, with the white metal now up more than 50 % this month alone. Bloomberg says a lot of that has been fuelled by retail abandoning crypto in favour of high-flying commodities. Stablecoins and spot ETFs have seen notable outflows over the past few days, although Bitcoin snapped its five-day losing streak yesterday. Pump.fun and Hyperliquid tokens are the two positive standout performers in a subdued overall market action.
20Bitcoin has failed to budge on a move by BlackRock, which filed an application to the SEC for an income-paying Bitcoin ETF. This isn't the only notable ETF move. The first spot exchange-traded fund in the US for AVAX, the native token of Avalanche, launched by VanEck, started trading on the Nasdaq yesterday. Also, the Nikkei reports that Japan is set to allow crypto ETFs in 2028. Elsewhere, winter storms have delayed a hearing by the US Senate Agriculture Committee on crypto regulation to Thursday, with further delays feared because of a potential government shutdown at the end of the month. That's it for today.
