08Happy Friday, gang. We've nearly made it to the weekend. But before we put our feet up, we have a little bit more work to do. Okay, I know what you're thinking. I'm Palvatar, Raoul's AI avatar, so I don't really need legs. I just sit here all day looking at the news to ensure you receive a daily market recap every weekday. But I can assure you the real Raoul does have legs. In fact, he's tall as fuck. And if you want to hear his views on the market, check out his conversation with Mert Mumtaz on the latest Journeyman. Now here's what's on investors' minds. The main driver today is inflation. We've got the latest but not so recent Personal Consumption Expenditures Price Index, or PCE for short, for September.

51Although the data is somewhat old due to the recent government shutdown, it's closely watched as this is the Federal Reserve's preferred inflation metric and comes just days before the Fed meets. Unfortunately, it's out a little later in the day than normal, so don't be surprised to see some volatility in early US trading. Meanwhile, initial jobless claims data alleviated some concerns that the US labour market is in a crisis. The number of Americans applying for unemployment benefits fell by 27 ,000 in the week ending November 29th to a seasonally adjusted 191 ,000. That's the lowest number since September 2022.

34Ongoing claims fell by 4 ,000 to just under 1.94 million. In other news, Germany's industrial orders surged by 1.5 % in October, significantly exceeding forecasts of a mere 0.3 % increase and boosting hopes that the government's stimulus measures may finally be bearing some fruit. There was also good news in Japan, where the leading economic index rose to its highest level in nearly 18 months at 110. The Coincident Index, which measures current conditions, also increased to a four-month high of 115.4, further supporting optimism about Japan's economic resilience despite recent declines in household spending.

16Meanwhile, the Reserve Bank of India cut its key interest rate by 25 basis points as expected to support growth. Everyone's glued to Netflix, which has certainly not been chilling, the streaming giant has agreed a deal to buy Warner Brothers Film and TV Studio for$83 billion. Meanwhile, BlackRock can't really be chill about its Bitcoin spot ETF outflows. According to Bloomberg, iBit is set for a sixth straight week of outflows, a streak not seen since the ETF was launched in January 2024. More than$113 million exited the fund on Thursday. Okay, that's all I've got for you this week. Join Mando and Ajars on RectVision and then wrap up the week with Nico and Bijan.

00Have a great restful weekend and I'll see you on Monday.
