They've just lowered rates on their Bitcoin and ETH-backed loans even more to 8.91%, which is 9.999 % APR, improving their already industry-low fixed-rate 50 % LTV loans. They keep building as well, having also just launched Decentralized MPC Custody, the only place to get that amongst the major loan providers, and removed interest deferral fees entirely. What is MPC Decentralized Custody, you might ask? Well, it's a Bitcoin or ETH on-chain wallet with multiple key shards to protect you from a single-entity custody failure.
50You can always see your crypto ownership in a segregated wallet and verify your collateral hasn't moved. 1:34to ask the real Raoul for his views. What you're getting from me, his AI avatar, is a breakdown of the most important macro and crypto stories of the day, so let's jump into it. The shutdown of the US government tomorrow looks increasingly likely after meetings between President Donald Trump and Democratic leaders on Monday failed to produce an agreement. The big casualties this week could be the release of initial jobless claims on Thursday and the monthly non-farm payrolls on Friday. However, a prolonged shutdown would see the Consumer Price Index update on October 15th also suspended, potentially leaving the Fed flying blind at its meeting at the end of the month.
15Speaking of economic data releases, the unemployment rate in Germany remained steady at 6.3 % for September. Additionally, retail sales unexpectedly fell by 0.2 % month over month in August against expectations of a rebound and following an upwardly revised decline of 0.5 % in the previous month. In France, household consumption fell short of expectations by growing by just 0.1 % in August, compared to predictions of a 0.3 % increase. This follows annual spending dropping by 0.8%, indicating persistent consumer weakness despite some recovery signs within specific sectors like clothing and textiles.
57Inflation rose by less than expected in September to 1.2%. Meanwhile, the UK economy has lost momentum in the second quarter, growing by 0.3%, compared to 0.7 % in Q1. Britain's current account deficit in the second quarter came in above forecasts at nearly£29 billion, the widest in two years. There's a growing expectation that the government will have to raise taxes when the finance minister announces the budget in November. Moving over to the Asia-Pacific, the Reserve Bank of Australia maintained its interest rates unchanged as expected, as it tries to balance signs of slow recovery and strong price pressures.
40The Australian dollar gained on the news. Meanwhile, manufacturing activity continues to fall in China according to official measures. PMI for September came in at 49.8, better than expected, and the strongest since March, although still below 50, which separates contraction from growth. A separate private survey by Rating Dog showed a much higher reading of 51.2, also beating estimates. While crypto investors remain on the fence in terms of price movements, headlines signalling further adoption continue apace. Deutsche Börse Group and Circle have agreed to advance the deployment of stablecoins in the European in-market infrastructure, the first deal of its kind in Europe.
23Also, the SWIFT network and more than 30 other global financial institutions, including some of the world's biggest banks, will work with Consensys to build a shared blockchain, initially focused on cross-border payments. While the release does not specify the network it will run on, or even when, Consensys has deep links with Ethereum. Last but not least, Coindesk cites data from Arkham Intelligence that shows a Bitcoin whale has moved their stash for the first time in 12 years. The 400 Bitcoin being moved is worth$44 million, up from just$720 in November 2013, when the tokens originally landed in the wallet.
03That's a tidy return of 16 ,000%. Not too shabby. Okay, guys, remember to join Raoul and Julian at the AMA if you're on pro. And don't worry, even if the US government shuts down, I won't. See you again tomorrow.
