In short

Post-match reaction to Tottenham’s 3-0 opening-day loss to Brentford, framed as an “embarrassing” but early-season setback. The host argues Spurs looked tactically and physically undercooked, with major concerns about midfield balance and squad structure, especially Lucas Bergvall’s first-half performance and the fit between Bergvall and Mickey van de Ven’s injury context. Key claims include: Bergvall repeatedly lost possession by carrying the ball from deep; Conor Gallagher was “worst version” and ineffective; Richarlison was anonymous and frustratingly inconsistent; Spurs need more attacking signings (mentions Marmoush and Gakpo as potential additions) and possibly loans for younger players like Bergvall/Archie Gray/Matty Tell (host suggests Tell needs more development).

Notable examples

Bergvall’s multiple turnovers in Spurs’ own half; Richarlison being forgotten during the first half; comparisons to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg/Gallagher play style.

2:34Welcome back, everybody. Uh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, look. it's important it's important well hello welcome back i hope you all had a good summer or whatever you know if you didn't listen to any of my world cup pods or if you haven't seen any of the pre-season videos or the interview i did with ben haynes or the fpl stuff i did with baker you know if this is if this is the first time you've seen me since everton last last season then uh you know it's a bit rude but but here we are here we are um welcome back the Premier League is back um

3:29it's obviously obviously important to say and I I know right first and foremost it's obviously clearly really important to say that we didn't have all of our you know potential first team out there from the very beginning we haven't finished all of our summer business so you know those things are are important context Brentford as they sort of kept alluding to in the commentary a very well oiled very well drilled premier league team blah blah blah blah blah all of that type of stuff 3-0 though 3-0 and the manner of the defeat is a bit disappointing and i'm not going to go as far as to say concerning because i don't think it is i'll be concerned if come the close of the transfer window we've got all of our business done and we're still playing like that then then then there's cause for concern today is look it's a bit it's a bit embarrassing yep that's that's for certain it's Tottenham kind of doing their thing isn't it you know like the first game of the season we've spent all this money there's been all this discussion about us then we go and get done 3-0 to Brentford's it's kind of kind of annoying and it leans into a lot of the Spursy all that type of stuff thing but look I think it's it's only right to be annoyed about that if you're a Spurs fan it's only right to be annoyed about that it's only right to have some questions about perhaps not some of the business we've done but at least the way in which the squad is structured I've seen a lot of discussion already about the fact that Sanessi and Van Hecker don't look like they're a really good fit to play alongside one another and I think that's fair it's partly due to sort of circumstances and Mickey van der Ven's injury and everything but Kevin Danso's there so there's things to learn from that Lucas Bergvall was gone from being a sort of player who was on his way out the door to now starting the first game of the season 100 % staying as Roberto De Zerbi said in his in his pre-match presser but put in and I mean this honestly I don't you know I don't want to start the season by scapegoating individuals and stuff and i'm not scapegoating him individually for this i think this was collectively a poor effort i think this was collectively a team that is still a work in progress blah blah blah blah blah but a large contributing factor to that was the performance of lucas beerval in the first half it's and i mean this is saying something considering how Spurs have played the past few years.

6:37It's one of the worst performances I've seen in a Spurs shirt for a very, very long time. Nothing he was doing was coming good. He did the thing, and this is such a bad habit of his. Such a bad habit of his is carrying the ball out from our half, or at least deep into our half, trying to carry it up to the centre circle and just losing possession. he's he did that constantly last year and he i count i counted at least three occasions in which that happened in our own half in this game and then probably a couple of times that happened in the opposition half just losing possession under minimal minimal pressure when there were plenty of options there for a pass you know um he's young there's a level of immaturity to that he's come from he's played in england for a couple of years now but still he's come from the swedish league where look with all due respect i've seen the way i've seen the reels of bergval playing in the swedish league right maizey runs through the entire team all that type of thing right like that's kind of what he did that's kind of his thing that ain't gonna fly here he needs to learn that quickly um look you know if if deserve it doesn't want to get rid of him he wants to 100 keep him here I think he probably could do with a loan or something like that I don't know I don't know it was not it was not a good enough performance today it was not a good enough performance from him um I know we're obviously being very careful with Fernandez um we're being very careful with the likes of Madison I think that's a different I think that's a case let's let's deal with Fernandes and Madison separately Fernandes we've had very little clarity as to what's actually happening with Fernandes why he's been missing for large parts of our pre-season he did I'm fairly certain he played if not the 90 minutes 70 minutes plus against Hoffenheim behind closed doors so you would imagine he was approaching match fitness at least I think it was an oversight to not start him in the game today to be honest um but again look you know one of the main things that's important to flag at these points is we're not there we're not there on the training ground we're not having conversations with these players we don't know that before this game you know De Zerbi hasn't asked Fernandes do you think you can play and he's like whatever it is still a bit tight maybe i can play a second half or something you know do you know what i mean like we we don't know the conversations have been had so it's very easy for me to sit here and say he should have started this player he shouldn't have played that player we don't know what the conversations are we only see basically the end product and the end product today was not very good as i said on twitter it's that everyone's seen that video I'm sure of the guy talking about the person in prison boiling a poo in a kettle you know that's that's kind of emblematic of Tottenham's performance today it was not very good at all um there were very few bright sparks in it but I'm not just going to single out Lucas Berthold you know like he he was not particularly good um but nor was Conor Gallagher you know Connor Gallagher was the the very worst version of himself today really um I think and I say this to myself and I say it probably to like a large amount of Spurs fans we're very quick to get on Connor Gallagher's back there's probably some kind of you know like a type of bias there or whatever an inbuilt bias because he was a Chelsea player and we sort of don't really want him to be good in a way I don't know in a weird sort of subconscious way

10:38I think he is capable of being effective I don't I don't really like him I don't really like the way in which he plays football but I'm not going to sit here and you know bare-facedly say I think there is no merit in a player like Connor Gallagher if if your aim is to be combative in the final third if you want somebody that can get on the end of stuff every now and again because you can do all that right and we know he can do that so we know he can be effective to a degree it's not always the prettiest and I think therein lies the issue a lot of the time but today it was not pretty and it was not effective um he's he's a really I don't know he's a he's a very he just I don't even I don't even say that I don't even mean to say this like churlishly he has always always reminded me of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg um and I had a lot of I had a lot of like a lot too so I've got two mates that support Newcastle different different places in my life but who both when they got linked to Hojbjerg they both texted me like what is he like is he all right and I was like I'm probably the worst person to ask this question to because I can't stand him but if I was to try and be you know down the line through the middle about it with Pierre

12:04Jack:Emelhoibier I would say that he is a player that is capable of being quite effective begrudgingly quite effective especially when things are going well for Spurs. Before the season even kicks off soccer fans are already making predictions. Who wins the league? Who qualifies for Europe? And And who's lifting the trophy at season's end? Symptoms noted are signs of mild to moderate dehydration. Consult a healthcare professional if symptoms persist. I think Hojbjerg always looked quite good. He was always quite good on top of like everybody else doing really well, but he was never really the player that made things really good.

14:07That makes sense. It's kind of a convoluted way of putting that. But a lot of the time as well, he's just really frustrating. He just doesn't really seem that technically good. he doesn't really seem like he reads the game all that well seems like he often kind of hides um doesn't really offer himself up as an option for to be passed to and in many ways like i'm not

14:32Jack:saying there's a pure symmetry with him and conor gallagher i don't think they're exactly the same type of player but i think there's there's a lot thematically at least that's quite similar about them i think in terms of like in a in a playing sense i think they can both they're both prone to being a bit headless chicken i think they're both prone to getting into their own heads a bit as well can you get in your own head if you don't have a head if you're a chicken without a head maybe you're in your own head that's lying on the floor and your body's running around maybe that's a sort of you know metaphor for the two of them if not somewhat you know strained

15:10they they are capable of being quite good it's never really that pretty it's never really the sort of play that you want to hang your hat on and say this is the best of us right but sometimes we all know that there are those performances and those games that need those type of players but conor gallagher today was not good he was not good um richarlison pretty non-existent I've got to say like I know I know we don't have like an endless pot of money I know there isn't like we've spent a lot of money already I know there's not an endless pot of money but I'll be honest I'm just so I'm so bored of the Richarlison thing I know everything about

16:01Jack:Richarlison I know everything that he has to offer Tottenham Hotspur Football Club we all do right I'm not acting like I'm some anointed one some have a possessor of knowledge you know I'm just simply saying that we've we've we've seen every scenario that plays out with Richarlison right more often than not not very good can be very effective can score a banger every now and again will often score against Liverpool can score at Anfield but more often than not just totally anonymous totally anonymous in games doesn't really hold up the ball particularly effectively which i think deserve he will you know seems to require a lot in these sort of games and these in just for his system to work

16:55Jack:like again it's one of those things where somebody on whatsapp started like you know bitching about richarlison towards the end of the first half and I genuinely forgotten that he was playing you know it's it's it's it's that kind of thing um so you know it's a shame that we've not been and it looks unlikely it's a shame that we've not been able to move him on this summer um Deserby has you know Deserby's been quite up front with a lot of these conversations right Deserby said I speak to him sometimes he wants to say sometimes he wants to go blah blah blah blah blah which is not you know it's not great is it like it's not great to know that that's kind of where his head's at right you know this is a player we're starting in the premier league um and i know people say well you know we have no other option but that's that's the problem and hopefully marmusha coming in the next few days and hopefully Gakpo too.

17:53Jack:I know people are split on how good or not they think he is, but he is a player that is at least capable to a degree of playing as a number nine. We need more players that can play in that sort of position. What else? Mikey Moore, valiant effort at times. I think he needs that loan, to be honest. I just I don't my my again my gut feeling is he's young so I'm not I'm not digging him out he's a young player he's very talented clearly but I don't think he's at this level yet at Premier League starting level personally speaking so get him that loan get him some more experience and see what he can do in any year's time perhaps Matty's tell well you know you know i'm a big i'm a big telpologist telepologist i can't remember what the word was that people were using but i'm my my opinion of matty's tell is more often than not favorable um i don't i don't by any means think he's like the finished article i don't think you know he is always is beyond reproach, if you like.

19:19Jack:But I just want to see, I just want to, days like today, do you know what I mean? Days like today are the days where I'm like, just give us that bit more, mate. Just give us that bit more. And I know there's nobody really for him to cross the ball to and all that type of thing, I know. But again, there were just kind of times when I think like he was having a real struggle beating his man down the wing. I'm not even sure who he was up against from Brentford's team.

19:46Jack:And you then look at like, is it Sangari? Is it Sangari, that ludicrous player that Brentford seemed to have? Much like the lad that Bournemouth brought in. I can't remember the name of him, the Brazilian lad. You just saw like, why are we not getting these deals done? Why are we not getting these deals done? because that Sangari just looks like much like the Bournemouth lad everything that we need everything that we need I think 28 million euros I think I saw on Twitter before I started recording this it's it's ludicrous it's ludicrous that's you know if we're talking in the market now that's 100 million pounds that Brentford are going to want for this lad you could just see it from the off and i like i'm not saying that like every single no like every single good player is immediately going to be a good player but generally speaking the very top best players are just really good straight away they just are like i think there's so say for example there's a bit of revisionism around gareth bale he got injured when he was quite young but pretty much and i know spurs had this sort of curse with him they didn't win for ages when bale played all that type of stuff but he was clearly really good he was clearly really good luca modric no maybe not he had a bit of a he had a bit of a a tricky ish first season so okay maybe he's an exception to the rule delhi alley though just unbelievable straight away i mean i don't really need to open up all these other avenues for people telling me that i'm clueless do i just tell there is there is so much there that's promising but as i say then i look at that lad sangare i think it is and i'm just like you know do you know i'm saying when i make that like groaning noise just

22:04Jack:it's not all doom look the thing is we've just lost 3-0 on the opening day of the season right i'm not losing my ass i'm not throwing all the players under the bus or that type of thing right i'm not i'm just i think i'm i think i'm having a fairly you know what i'm supposed to talk about on air right i'm supposed to sit and go oh don't worry everybody it's all fine they're all good we'll get some players back and blah blah like do you know i mean like we're out to sort of complain a bit like that's kind of the point isn't it of doing this it's supposed to be a bit authentic and you know shooting from the hip and all that sort of thing right it's just it's just disappointing it's just disappointing isn't it after like last season deserve be coming in seemingly starting this cultural revolution and everything i'd you know i'll be i'll be truthful i did the you know the pre-match pods which you can get on patreon if you want to support the show patreon.com slash rtl pods and on patreon i was saying that really i think genuinely honestly i think brentford are probably going to win this game and i and i think over the course of it over the course of like I got a bit giddy reading out like Deserby's press conference especially the embargoed stuff when he was saying that you know the intention here is to win the league at Tottenham and all that type of stuff right so I got a bit giddy and was like okay maybe maybe we'll get a draw here we'll get a draw and it will feel disappointing but we'll look back on it as being quite good one all but before then I was like I think we're gonna I think it's gonna be hard fought but I think we're probably gonna lose to Brentford I think they beat someone mental like um Charlie was saying I think they beat someone like genuinely it was someone like Leverkusen or something like that like 7-0 the other day in a pre-season at the GTEC so they were kind of coming into this season like pretty hot pretty up for it um so is the sort of the thought to me of like losing like maybe 1-0 2-1 or something like that to Brentford was going to be one of those things where you're like it's kind of annoying but I see you know the whole team's not really here yet and blah blah blah all the stuff I've said so far but 3-0 and the manner of it as well was it's just it's just it's a bit it's just a bit frustrating and I think there's a there's a there's an immediate worry just because of how bad spurs have been the past couple of years of like oh god maybe the bad times aren't over you know maybe maybe it's we're not free from all of that sort of thing now right you know it's just it's it's yeah

24:53Jack:kind of kind of kind of worrying in it i don't know i'll see um let's see what some of you are saying um murray 27 says is tonali winks in disguise no i'm not having that right and do you know what i tell you what else is is awful right and i get it right thank you for any of like the younger viewers here i get it i know how you know if we're to do this boring thing right where we pretend that like somebody born on this year and somebody born on that year is a totally different species of human being talking about millennia millennials do this and gen z do that even though the majority of our cultural references are completely shared and there's a few years between us but yeah right if we're going to pretend that we are completely different species i do get that like you know there is that like millennial cringe chungus thing right where we can be kind of annoying and you know whatever at times but like one of the one of the i'm gonna be honest and it does seem to be mostly gen z people saying it and it's spurs fans who aren't happy with the tonale signing calling him toenail it's just such like it's such weak patter it's such such weak patter i mean come on man you can't you can't be sitting there like all day long doom scrolling calling everything else cringe and then calling players you don't like toenail like a weak really weak anagram of their name it's it's so do you know what it is it's spuds coded that's pure like arsenal patter it's pure arsenal power have an have an absolute word with yourself if you're calling him toenail like that's that's my my big hard-hitting opinion on that one um but no like i i think it's fine i don't like are we are we are we going for tonali already like i don't know about that my roommate mate um he also said it's going to be okay i'd rather a false start than a false dawn yeah that's that's nice that's a more that's a more measured uh perspective on things mate um hacker cps says rdz will fix this it's fine i mean i'm inclined to i'm inclined to agree with you mate like the manner in which he turned tottenham around last season again i don't think it can be i don't think it can be you know over like understated over whatever i don't think it can be overstated enough to suggest that we were on the verge of going down last year and it he came and saved it right he came and saved us and you know that's that um

27:52jrc says why are we getting rid of saab but keeping bergval and gallagher gallagher again i'd like to know i'd like to know mate i'm not you know i've seen like the glee with which

28:03Jack:a lot of spurs fans have met that news i find it bizarre i think perhaps like so many people have this opinion that Papsara is like absolutely bobbins that he's uh he's pony I just I'm not again I'm not having that at all I'm just simply not having that I know I know like people have you know different opinions and stuff some opinions are wrong and that's one of them um peppercorn sauce says we're still winning the league I don't care I mean what a story what a Dory. Imagine this in the Premier League years and a decade, right? Spurs started the league, started the season with a 3-0 defeat and the headline writers were having a field day.

28:48Jack:Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Come to the end of the season. We'll win the league at the Emirates. Come on. That's what we're doing. It's not alcoholic. Hey, Chicago. 30:18George Farley says, that was a disgrace. The polar opposite of a show of intent. Can't do another season of this. Why can't we be good?

30:33come on i i know like you're you're all right to be you're all right to vent george um i just don't know if it's like entirely true uh deuces wild says we are false hope fc in baron

30:47Jack:oh come on mate come on like all right i'm gonna allow i'm gonna allow you all your space and your grace to uh to to vent but let's just wait and see um brian park says jack um jack could probably out jack could probably outpace senesi and van hecker probably better in year two i highly doubt all of those statements brian but you know thanks i guess um James Reid says, I'm emotionally charged, full of adrenaline, and superbly pissed off with the lack of fight, but trying to remember it was nowhere near our first 11, and there are three attacking signings to come. I mean, you hope there are three attacking signings to come.

31:38That's just, that's the important context here. But we'll see. We'll see, eh?

31:48Vin Fuego says the after-match fan clapping has improved since last season. Well, for now it has. Rowan Carrera says that's what I get for getting excited.

32:03JKR Infinite says, Jesus Christ. I'd rather a kick in the nethers than re-watch that dross. Players were so passive. Wasn't expecting a win, but a standard of football. I think that's fair. I think that's the fairest kind of reflection on all of this is that that's kind of where I'm at right we knew it wasn't going to be particularly great but it just it needs to be it can't it can't be that bad you know Jack Underhill says no excuses they were way better than us but we need to stop pissing about how have we brought no attackers in for this game yeah it's definitely

32:44Jack:like you know i do think other teams are maybe like holding us to ransom a bit or whatever i don't you know i don't really know let's just i guess the all we can do is wait and see isn't it that's that's the thing um hacker cps says change my mind about lucas get rid um you pay to says i I don't want to see Bergvau play anything but spot minutes. Cried Alas says, can the Gray and Bergvau lovers please do one? Can't sell them. They're our future lol joke. I'm not having it about Gray. I'm not, you know, he's getting played massively out of position. Right back. I think he's done an all right job.

33:28Jack:I don't, I don't, I don't really get the captaincy thing today, if I'm honest. But again, whatever, if that's what the gaffer wants to do and all that, fine it's a bit weird though isn't it um jack underhill also says early days it'll take time for rdz ball to stick but no more experimental pre-season 11 please get the starters in even if they're not 100 yeah mr stephen stotch only positive is at least um you know your starters now Gallagher and Bergwahl should be nowhere near the midfield keeper can't catch forward line a championship level and a soft defense I haven't even spoken about Kinski actually I like I say this kind of quietly because I don't I you know I it's just an awkward one it's a difficult one isn't it because I do like him I think he's shown incredible mental resilience blah blah blah blah blah all that type of thing but in the back of my mind i have been kind of thinking like what if he's bad like not bad but just like what if he's like not quite good enough really um you can't be knee jerk off of one game right you can't just say he's not going to be he's not good enough because of this game but i think there has been you know a fair bit about we have seen a fair bit about him before this where he's not really been making saves or anything i don't know it's too early i'm not i'm not going to do this i'm not doing this now it's one game it was slightly concerning i'll say that i have been slightly concerned it is slightly concerning but i think he's going to be our goalkeeper and if not depravka is i guess all right um uh richard a thousand doesn't like bergval um tom haywood five two six zero those are some interesting numbers there buddy um what happened did you forget your did you forget your sign in for your for your proper account only three months since we were two kicks of a ball away from being relegated it's a bad team with about nine starting players crying off or missing yet again annoying but hopefully still poison to drain get the poison out as uh ricky would say ricky from fighting cock and lads and on if you've not listened to lads and on yet get on it um i was on if you if you want to if you want to listen to more me i was on it a few weeks ago talking about the great outdoors that was good fun um 10m scally says honestly forget the lot of them early days i know but jesus you'd expect a bit of energy at least on game one tell is not good enough bendenas says missed this deep breath go again go on lab barusia teeth says um we'd be mad not to take anything above 20 mil for berthal what does he do richard a thousand says i also said making kinski number one was a huge risk he's going to cost us a shed load of points this season ecasonic music says we look like we were playing a different team with a different tactic um pirate dread robert says played at pre-season intensity getting beat um is excusable the lack of effort and physicality is not now do we is this the point where we need to have a conversation about playing pre-season tours around the world I know many of you that tune into this and I appreciate that I appreciate you but I appreciate that I know it's nice for fans around the world to see the team their beloved Tottenham Hotspur football club this isn't one of those kind of it's not as important to you you're not real fan stuff nothing like that I'm simply saying for the good of the team is it right that we continue to do these pre-season tours i know there are some commercial considerations to this but i think a commercial and logistical consideration is also tottenham being good in the premier league um you know i know it's quite easy to say this sat in a you know in in the outskirts of london in one of the surrounding towns where it takes me an hour and a bit to get to to white hart lane to watch a game but you know for fans that are that love spurs that are up all hours of the day and night to watch us is it this is not an argument to be made that there's something special about actually seeing them with your own eyes once you've made the pilgrimage to white heart lane too and i i understand that's not always like really feasible for everybody but i'm simply saying that these schedules are packed i mean maybe okay maybe let's let's let's scroll this back maybe we just need to get smarter with it years when we've just had a world cup an extended world cup at that and there's maybe been a euros as well maybe we just maybe we just do restrict these tours to the years when there isn't a summer tournament is that is that is that a good compromise maybe i mean if we if we are going to do them if we are going to do them for commercial considerations and for you know allowing fans to to to see top them right maybe that should be the consideration you know i think that's fair to say in it

39:29320 music vb says poor performance need new signings at the top end of the pitch asap yeah yeeps menace says turned it off at three nil not good for my mental health Ozzy Ange says hello son Spurs team needs to gel it's only game one I think there's do you know what mate for all the conversation I think there's something you know in that Tiffway says we are back

40:04Lord Spurs says Bergvall van Hecker and Richarlison were more awful than the rest who were awful I think Van Hecker grew into the game, if I'm being honest, but the way in which he started the game was definitely not good at all. That's to say the least.

40:29Patch Thomas says, our preseason was just plain stupid. Peter Gordon says, Richarlison is a disgrace, Mace kept falling over for a free kick instead of playing football. MegaMangerDanger says Richarlison is as bad as Gallagher. Bergval, Gray, Tell and more are not Premier League level yet and maybe never will be.

40:57AdSethi says starting a season again with a squad half-cooked is nothing new. Why are we surprised? Starting a season with more on the wing, that's a failure. 23 care package says 100 mil tonali severely outplayed by 30 mil sangare don't worry he's not prem proven though langer masterclass

41:25john harrison based on that performance we've wasted a lot of money on poor players we'll be lucky to finish 17th

41:38lord spurs says bergval wanted his chance he's blown it um billy stone has gone in on 23k package and says tonali was fine and very much not the problem today i agree with that here we go ladies and gentlemen i'm about to say it god um it's not my catchphrase it's somebody's name ricochet pig says very far from our first choice 11 so i still think we'll have a good season if we get some forwards it will take a while for the new signings to gel oh no sorry he said it will have a good season if we get some forwards then it will take a while for the new signings to gel still a few to get rid of reant says no bias about galaga he's just ineffective yeah maybe kevin hawthorn says good afternoon from lankland florida good afternoon sir watch out for those gators um dabber rank says ph greater than gallagher annoyingly i i don't know if i agree i think we've seen we've let's we can make that judgment more when this tottenham team is more settled and not constantly fighting fires hoibier at least had little patches of tottenham being all right fairly competent so i don't think it's a fair comparison at this point um bob rudge says very poor an annoying start but let's not overreact or overanalyze well bob i've currently spoken for 38 minutes about that game so i mean i i've it's probably a stretch to call what i've been doing analysis really um but i take your point uh he also says missing half the first team and betting in new players we're going to be good still optimistic about the season believe in bobby who is the priest says simple as some of these players don't deserve to wear the shirt ready to cut back with gallagher already um stew lynn says you can always tell which tottenham will turn up when alan smith is commentating uh tom mccarthy says how did we end up with andy robertson right back poor pre-season poor prep this team is too used to losing have to stop the rot richie bergval off your pop

44:07Jack:mark jenner on top of how bad we were was um how bad was oliver yeah i mean i i i think there's going to be opinions as there always are i'm not having that you know they didn't score so whatever but i'm not having that theirs was a penalty to be honest not having it um there was also one of those i think it was on was it on gallagher i think it was i think there was one of those fouls where the brentford player like mistimed his challenge on on gallagher so gallagher had already released the ball and then he completely took Gallagher out and I'm not joking I swear and I know I'm like we don't need to do this one anymore because he's left us but I'm fairly certain I've seen Romero get a red for one of those before and it was just waved away nothing I don't even think we got free kick for it um Jorgen S says shocking first 11 we're still in an injury crisis this listen grove says when i was a wee lad in the 60s we used to play football against a wall today you should call the wall richarlison he should never start another game

47:03Jack:We all saw that nice Alfie Whiteman video, didn't we, before the game? Very nice.

47:13Jack:I think it caught everybody in the feels, didn't it?

47:19But, yeah. That's kind of what you have to focus on, isn't it? all that good stuff the mythology around tottenham we're we're different from every other club says every fan of every club ever sorry i'm being cynical um it's lovely i'm not i'm not digging out the video i think it's great it's it's amazing and i think the club have been doing some amazing stuff this summer um so that's great i'm just more just being cynical about football and support and everything in general when I say that um Lord Spurs says Rishi is shocking Duster says what exactly is Archie Gray why is he so highly rated I've never seen anything that suggests he's anything other than a below average midfielder who has no particular thing um I don't think we've ever seen him given a fair crack at playing in midfield though have we um I don't Mark Genesis Moore should have scored at least one of his three chances.

48:20I agree, to be honest. I know there's a lot of pressure on him and all that type of stuff, but you've got to do it, right? If you're going to do it, you're going to do it. It feels harsh. Do you know what I mean? I'm sat here twice, at least more than twice the bloke's age. You should have done this. sat here with my microphone talking to myself like while he's playing Premier League football right I'm trying to give him guidance it's pathetic really isn't it but that's just pack all this in what doing what doing it's a joke um Roberto Camps's Gakpo ain't coming and why are we still wasting time talking about that maybe he is i don't know

49:20mjbthfc1991 says i'm struggling to see the same player a lot of fancy in bergval i mean to be honest mate i would say not many of those fans are seeing whatever player is it you think but still i'll continue when i saw his name on the team sheet i was worried because we lack any sort of control when he plays in a deeper midfield position that's a very succinct way of putting it sir mca moritz says how many of today's starters get to 18 premier league starts for this season kinski to nali van hecker almost certainly robertson will be dependent on a doggy fitness i suppose maybe gallagher yeah alan leslie says poor performance all rounds put it down to rustiness and new players.

50:04It was never going to be a quick fix. Up the Spurs. Go on, Alan. Were you at the game, mate? Bet you were. You usually are. Edward BFLO says, for all the talk of Flippenberg Valve for a quick profit, it's surprising to me. There's never any similar talk about Archie Gray. What is he? What does he do? Yeah, last season I was getting called like a little Englander for not giving the same kind of scrutiny to Archie Gray as I give to Lucas Bergvau. But I can assure you, it's nothing to do with Archie Gray being English. I just think he's a bit better.

50:42Who is the priestess? Singari looks like a player. He does. He looks like a very, very good player. Rian says, to Tell's credit, he was up against Kayode, who's quicker and stronger. He did seem decent. Pabby says, somehow that was worse than New Year's Day, which was like pulling teeth. buy yourself with a car

51:05Sangari apparently cost Brentford 48 million fine he made his debut today Boston midfield I don't know how this seems to happen to us a lot we buy an expensive player they just don't hit the ground running Darren223 says Spurs Scouts only know Premier League players they've never heard of Sangari I mean that's not entirely true is it like we have signed a good few players from outside the Premier League.

51:30Jack:They're just generally not very good ones. Ben Matthews says, bring back BYOB. Maybe, maybe, mate. That's in reference to the pod-interview I did with Ben Haynes this week. Check it out if you've not heard it yet. It's two-parter. Really enjoyable chat with me old mucker. Darby Keogh says only bright spot was telling the second half on the left also can we stop with Archie being a viable option at right back yeah I mean that's probably that's probably fair

52:10there's lots of people just saying lots of things now that are all kind of similar

52:21Bender Nass says Seneci is a toes length away from bocking all three goals the sharpness will come Peter Turner says I've held on for tell of his age but I think it's a good time to accept he isn't very good only so many games you can say to give it time Joseph Bradley is anyone actually surprised at this result with the team we started today you could argue it's weaker than last seasons i don't know about that js letters and numbers says the lack of physicality meant that it was men against boys it's the bare minimum for competing versus these tall sides they squashed us tarik jd says perspective we came 17th twice in a row brentford came ninth last year our net spend this window is roughly the same as brentford and their back line had played together before base case result um yeah look it's the first game of the season it's the first game of the season

53:22Jack:it is annoying and i think it's fine for there to be a level of frustration about the manner of that but perspective is required i did make fun of west ham for losing to charlton athletic today and rather stupidly forgot that we're playing charlton athletic quite soon aren't we is it during this week or is it next week or so um in the carabao cup so that has every chance of coming back to bite me but oh well um but yeah i think that's it it's it was never it was never going to be straightforward and it never will be straightforward at tottenham right i know it's kind of one of those trite things to say but it's just the case it's the team that we support it's a team that we know it's the team that we love even if they are maddening at times supremely maddening um

54:21no it's going to be a long season just just be better than last year all right come on please
