In short

The episode is a post-match reaction to Chelsea 2-1 Tottenham at Stamford Bridge, framed as a tense but not hopeless relegation battle. The host argues Chelsea controlled midfield and were comfortable, while Spurs lacked “foothold” and looked “pretty terrible” in midfield despite recent form from Bentancur, Bissouma/Polina (as named), and Gallagher.

Key claims

Caicedo and Enzo Fernández outclassed Spurs; Cole Palmer was misfiring; Richarlison was ineffective/possibly unfit; De Zerbi has improved Spurs’ spirit and helped stem apathy, but the squad is still far from good enough.

Notable examples

Spurs’ wing play (break down wings) and Mawani’s underperformance; De Zerbi’s turnaround after a bleak period; Spurs’ survival is “in our hands” with a draw/win vs Everton on the final day.

0:11so there we have it Spurs Spurs lose at Stamford Bridge it's not really let's be honest it's not really like breaking news it's not really shocking

0:30I felt really kind of like strange going into this one such a big game quite a few people I know were talking about how nervous they were about it I'm not sort of trying to be like the big man about it but I wasn't really feeling that way um I sort of chalked this off as a loss anyway for me it's always been about the last day of the season um and that's where we're at that's where we're at a weird weird occasion though weird game um Chelsea didn't really feel like they ever got into the swing of anything do you know I mean Chelsea weren't exactly like running all over Spurs it felt like that they could be got at it felt to me like Spurs I'm not going to say Chelsea were there for the taking because I I don't think that's accurate.

1:27But I think Spurs, had they displayed some of the kind of spirit they have done in the past few games, they could have gotten something tonight. But equally, there's that part of me, as I say that, there's that nagging part of me that's like, maybe it's just that Chelsea are way better than they've been showing. And an example of this to me, and this isn't meant to be a criticism particularly, more just an observation of our midfield. When we look at kind of like Bentancur, Polina, Gallagher, who for the past few weeks have looked really good. It's looked like a really balanced midfield. It's looked actually quite settled.

2:16They've looked like they're really shouldering the responsibility that De Zerbi's obviously put on them. today never got a foothold in the game none of them they all looked pretty terrible and there's always that temptation there's always that part of of one to say they don't care they haven't got the fight in them but again the reality is probably more just that you know they're up against Caicedo and Enzo Fernandes, two properly world-class talents. And that's just shown today. Chelsea were comfortable. They controlled the midfield. They didn't create an awful lot. Cole Palmer was still fairly sort of misfiring, you know, wasn't really sort of the player that we've seen in the past few seasons.

3:12But Chelsea did look comfortable. Spurs tried to do what they do, you know, break down the wings tell again trying his best to do something Mawani just you know not of the required level in my opinion um Richarlison sort of nowhere to be seen again question marks over his fitness everything like that but just commenting on what I've seen tonight um Spurs just I I'm not I'm not angry with this lot from this game in particular i'm not looking at this game thinking god these players this group of players they don't care or anything like that what i'm looking at is a group of players and just thinking they're just not actually very good are they really like i think we all got a bit excited about Chelsea's terrible form I mean I say we I'm not I'm not trying to grandstand but I didn't just in the respect that Chelsea will always show up Chelsea will always show up against Tottenham um we should know that by now it's just just what they do um so sort of the idea that you know West Ham West Ham losing to Newcastle the other night basically guaranteed our safety is naive Chelsea and Everton two very difficult games to end the season for Spurs especially in the sort of form that we've been in Chelsea in particular playing away at Stamford Bridge as I say that again I'm not saying this is a completely negative take it is important to remember that we still are in a position of strength it is in our hands we're not going into the final day hoping that West Ham mess up and we get a result we're going into the final day knowing that a draw or a win ensures our Premier League survival we're in the better position you know and that that is worth remembering that that's definitely worth remembering we're in the better position out of the two of us it's just not comfortable it's not comfortable it's not nice it's not a nice place to be in um but it's a it's a it's a tale of this season isn't it um and i want to i want to save a lot of the like recriminations and the big chat and uh who stays who goes stuff for summer regardless of the result on the weekend um regardless of what happens because right now it's it's just about the here and now it's about the here and now um but the point i do want to make and the just the one point i want to make on on on that is that even if we do stay up if we do stay

6:19up there's this yeah from an immediate perspective there's a sigh of relief and there will be some sense of I don't think jubilation but there will be a sense of happiness that Spurs managed to turn around what was a completely bleak situation before De Zerbe came in you know could before he came in a few weeks ago I think 99 % of us thought we were 99 % down and it definitely looked that way so the turnaround has been quite remarkable some of the football that Spurs have played at times has been quite remarkable but I think games like today really highlight that we are still quite far off it I think Chelsea beat us at a canter today I don't really think they had to break much of a sweat they weren't particularly great themselves but they looked largely comfortable and we're talking about Spurs if we do stay up to 17th place like finishes on the trot you don't get that through bad luck you know it's not negative for fans to question the quality of the squad and the quality of the players as you still see still see that type of chat you know people don't want to recognize that we've got our best players injured yeah I think we do recognize that I think that I know I know I'm fighting straw men here I can't I semi am, but I still see this kind of back and forth going on at the moment.

8:04Because if Kudus, Madison, Kulusevsky, Solanke, so on and so forth are fit, Spurs are probably better than they are right now. I'm not going to sit here and say I don't think they would be. I think they would be better than they are right now. But I don't think we'd be good. I think we're quite far off being good. And if we do stay up, we just have to hope and pray, wish, whatever, that the people running this club truly heed this warning and act in a proper fashion. None of this bollocks. It's a World Cup summer, so it's hard to do anything. bollocks no no like work fast and decisively drastically overhaul sections large sections of this squad turn spurs back into turn spurs back into a comfortable premier league side again do you know what i mean like that's that's the first step now on this ladder look at arsenal won the league this evening and you know what like genuinely it's come down to it i don't even care like i don't even care you know it's it's so far off now it's so it's so far off in the distance again it's like it's it's like when i was a kid again it's like the last time they did win it do you know what i mean the the disparity between the sides renders comparison almost just pointless on anything other than a sort of fan bantery level it's not worth getting wound up about yeah the the fierce maybe they'll lose a Norwich stuff of a few years ago right when we're neck and neck for Champions League football and everything like that that's the competition and that's when it's gutting gutting the idea of them getting one over us at that point or something like that now of course they're going to they're a team that prioritizes success and they've achieved that success we're a team that's prioritized commercial revenue and we're doing very well on that front but the rest of it not so much um but look you know these this sort of stuff will come in summer the main point is that spurs need to do something spurs need to act now they need to at the time for coasting the time for excuses is done because if we do stay up we do stay up there's only so many times there's only so many times you can escape this way we had a bad year last year but we were probably the forest should we say that the equivalent i know we finished 17th but my point is in terms of like how precarious our position was last year sort of similar to how forest are this year yeah they got bothered for a bit it was sort of over their shoulder but really they're safe and they're okay and this year we've dropped closer we've dropped close i mean we might go still we still might go.

12:35We'll be right back. varies by location. See associate or lowes.com for details.

12:45But even if we don't, we've dropped closer again. It's a 17th place finish, but it's a worse 17th place finish.

12:58And something needs to be done to stop that. De Zerbi's come in and he's obviously been an antidote to a lot of the apathy um and the you know he sort of stemmed the flow didn't he for a while um managed to regain a bit of control of everything i'm not using oil tanker analogies because i'm sort of sick of those but he managed to regain some control he's galvanized some sort of a spirit in some of these players um and has potentially potentially saved us from relegation this season but there's only so much he can do right as is evidenced from this evening i don't look at i don't look at this evening and think bloody deservey like i look at it and think he's ringing the best out of this group of players that he possibly can and

14:04you know it is all it is i think the the comparisons to like the the spurs even pochettino over to um you know took over are probably not even valid i think this team is a in a far no i don't think i know it is this team's in a far worse state than than the pretty bad state Spurs were in when Pochettino took over.

14:33We're talking about players like Adebayor, for as frustrating as he could be, a seasoned, brilliant, on his day world-class footballer being the sort of player we had to get rid of, if you get what I mean. this time around, I just, I just think the squad is made up of a lot of players who just are just not good enough. Quite simply, just not good enough. Poor squad building, a complete lack of identity.

15:13It's funny because it's quite easy to see it in other teams. I look at Chelsea. Yeah, I know they won tonight and I did a tweet to this effect, but it wasn't even supposed to be like a, you know, shithouse to trunk tweet or whatever. My point was, it's funny how Chelsea went from like, you know, Lampard, Drogba, Terry, Ivanovic, Hazard, Carvalho, so on and so forth. All these sort of like, you know, this pantheon of great players that Chelsea had, some of those teams that they had, to now like just a group of blokes, a group of players that I don't look at Chelsea. and even Cole Palmer is what like you know ostensibly Chelsea's star player if you want to put it into those terms right and that's probably maybe even more pronounced in England because you know he's an English player and everything like that I'm sure abroad people think someone like Enzo Fernandez is or whatever but the point is you know I look at this Chelsea team they chuck loads of money at it but there's nothing really there there's no real court like I wasn't really sitting there like I would in years gone by simmering with hatred for any of these players, any of their players at all.

16:26Don't look at any of them and think, he's proper Chelsea him, you know? Like you did with that lot before. And then you sort of, when you turn that lens on yourself, you think, who are we? Like, who are we anymore?

16:49and you know Arsenal have shown that can change you know because they were that type of team for a while right their wilderness years towards the tail end of Wenger and in between that you know of Emery and whatever early part of Arteta they were a sort of ragtag group weren't they and you get the right man in you back him and he can galvanize something he can provide a clear vision what it is that he wants and the the board build around that around that man and his singular vision for success if we can do that with Deserby then good do I trust do I trust this board to do that though absolutely not I and look you know I don't want to be negative I want to go into the final day of the season as I've said knowing that we're in a position of strength um that it's in our hands we're not hoping that West Ham trip up or anything like that but equally there'll be a there'll be look there will be a if if we stay up on Sunday there will be a sigh of relief right there will be a sigh of relief and I'll be happy that Spurs have managed to turn it around right but it's not going to be jubilation on my part I'm not going to lie like it's not going to be jubilation it's not going to be me taking an opportunity to take the piss out of West Ham or anything like that because we're bad we're really bad and it's going to take a lot for us not to be bad again next year and this is the sort of thing I say on here and people will say how can you say that when we're going to have all these players come back but there's no guarantee that they'll all be fit there's no guarantee that all or any of them will want to stay there's no guarantee that you know they don't get injured again there's no guarantee that Spurs are actually any good there's there's obviously there's obviously a deep-seated problem if we stay up that's two 17th placed finishes in a row you know this is this is this is the worst spurs have ever been in the premier league era it is like this is this is reset the narrative we don't get to hark back to the dark days of the 90s anymore and any of that sort of thing we're living in the bad times now that's the reality this isn't the time for like pointing fingers at other fans and saying don't be so negative it's you talking this way or saying these things or thinking these things that don't help the club or whatever it's not toxic positivity that's going to turn this club around it's a clear and cohesive vision from the man in the dugout and the people that own the club backing that vision, believing in it, sticking with him, riding through difficult periods.

20:08And I'm sure a sceptic, somebody not a Spurs fan, because I truly don't believe many Spurs fans would take this narrative, but I'm sure a sceptic, somebody that's not a Spurs fan would say, well, you didn't do that with Thomas Frank, did you? But he didn't offer us anything.

20:28Thomas Frank was just an unmitigated disaster. Again, the narrative is reset. It's not Christian Gross. It's Thomas Frank now. It's Thomas Frank as head and shoulders, the worst manager I've ever seen at Tottenham Hotspur, just by a considerable distance. and yes right the the hand he was dealt wasn't always perfect but wasn't that bad he got backed they spent some money but he didn't deliver us any vision did he what did he give us to believe in what did he give the players to believe in evidently nothing but you feel like with somebody like Deserby there is an opportunity there there's an opportunity and this time this time they can't squander it they squandered Kane they squandered Son squandered Pochettino

21:29if you really wanted to be edgy about it you could say to a degree they squandered Mourinho and Conte

21:44you know this is unprecedented times you know number one is it's nightmare timeline that Spurs are in this position as Arsenal have won the league you know it's just it's unpleasant you know like I say it would have been it would have been unpleasant enough had we finished sixth this year just missed out on champions league football and arsenal won the league deeply unpleasant right but this this sort of like and it's not the thing is as well it's not this whole kind of like i think you know the you're so full of yourself why should spurs be immune to relegation villa got relegated newcastle got relegated i mean number one i don't i honestly See, I couldn't care less about Villa or Newcastle, what the perception of them is, how big or not you feel they are in comparison to Spurs.

22:42Like, I really don't care. I'm a Spurs fan. I've seen the trajectory of Spurs throughout the Premier League era. And I can just comfortably say, without the context of any other clubs here, that Spurs should not be in this position. And that's not from a place of like, whatever some inbuilt punching down southern tory whatever nonsense i'm just simply talking about the fact that you know whether it's a sort of privilege or not we're a london club thus you know there is a you know you do get something of a of a bonus there right um in terms of like the a lure for extra players for sponsors for all that type of thing right

23:35but equally the fan base the money the club generates the way in which we have been commercially managed to be in the position that we're in is is is a catastrophe it's a disaster and they should they should not be in this position um but they are that's the reality of it right now they are doesn't matter where we think we should or shouldn't be that's where we are and in theory it should be easier to fix really than it is to even fail when you've got a club this size but evidently not um i just don't know hey um ricochet pig says hi i'm here to receive therapy not hand it out um and that's because kieran fitch it said in dire need of a Ricochet Pig to lift my spirits.

24:47Tat Coys says, could be over, man. Rory Porteous says, I think I hate everyone in our midfield. It's just a vapid pit of nothing.

25:02Pip Walker says, no mention of them lot tonight, please. Let's not depress ourselves even more. Sorry, Pip, I know I've already done it, but we'll keep it to a minimum, eh? Johnny Cudworth says, after that, going to cheer myself up watching Manchester by the sea.

25:22Cracker says, my stress levels are way too high, just want the season over. Yeah, I mean, that's a big thing, right? Stay or go, I think we all just want this over and done with now, don't we? Salty Squid says, this is the will of the Premier League. I'm less, you know, I'm less in the mood to indulge conspiracy stuff this evening. Because I just think we were beating fair and square tonight, really. Kind of annoying the whole Cucurella getting a yellow card by pulling Van der Ven down, but it's not a penalty because the ball hadn't been kicked. I guess I was in that camp where I'd sort of forgotten that that was actually the rule.

26:13wiki one that was a rule i thought just when the whistle blew that it meant you know game on but apparently not so that's kind of annoying isn't it and sort of a stupid rule really i mean that's going to be one way to combat a lot of this corner or set piece on in that sort of area um shit-ousery which next year something really needs to be done about it let's be real it's ridiculous now Jack Underhill says more woeful officiating Mawani needs to go to Juventus tonight head resides on Mars currently need catharsis please I'll try mate I'll try Teddy Two Saints says a dark dark night it's actually made me feel ill expected to lose expected the scum to clinch the title maybe not tonight definitely definitely at the weekend my god this is bleak Peter Turner says I know there's been a few but Mawani is our worst signing ever he is so poor i think he's definitely up there mate like there's not really i mean an awful lot of arguing from me and i've seen andy booth in a tottenham shirt

27:44james reed says scudamore and his band of merry pricks have their final day jeopardy if we do go enic needs to go as well the scum fill their hole in the wall as ours comes crashing down um one thing that was pointed out to me i won't say who by just in case they you know don't want me to read their name out or something but in a dm on twitter was that um i should stop talking about richard scudamore because he hasn't actually been at the premier league in any capacity for like nearly a decade now or something so I can't remember how many years let me say what year did I say it was

28:30oh yeah 2016 apparently Amazon presents Jeff vs Taco Truck Salsa whether it's Verde Roja or the orange one for Jeff trying any salsa is like playing Russian roulette with a flamethrower. Luckily, Jeff saved with Amazon and stocked up on antacids, ginger tea and milk. Habanero? More like habanere, yes. Save the everyday with Amazon.

29:08So, you know, it doesn't mean his legacy's not there and it doesn't mean his words were, you know, not reflective of a culture or a growing sort of think experiment at the Premier League or whatever, but I don't know, you know, who knows. Stel Morrison says, at mum's, because I'm taking her to hospital tomorrow, halfway through the second half, she said, I'm not sure my heart can take this. Bless her. It's her fault I support this team, Coy's. well I'm glad she's able to that's the spurs in her mate that she can still find Gallo's humour at a time when she's not at her best but as I'm guessing from what you're saying there be all the best to you and to her mate it's not ideal is it it's not ideal this happens to any it's not a uniquely Tottenham fan thing so I'm not saying we don't deserve this and other clubs too but all I'm saying is like just from me knowing people around me that are not having a great time personally it's just the last thing you need right now isn't it Spurs being this bad like and again look I've had the conversation on here about like what's a real world concern versus like you know a made-up problem or whatever but you know I just I just think that completely belies human nature and the very nature of following a following a football team really um be all the best to you mate um mjbthfc 1991 says it would be typical of both clubs that west ham and us lose this sunday neither team can be trusted if that's how it plays out mate then that's how it plays out let's let's have that um but you know let's just get let's just get at least a point you know teddy two saints says i never want to see moani and lily white again i pray after tonight deserve he sees this steve h says my mum is a west ham fan she's been saying and still is um we're down it's done for weeks whereas my dad is saying for months and still is we will not go down it's written arsenal win the league and we go down um i guess i'm trying i'm not fully so i'm getting so your mum the west ham fan steve is saying that spurs are done and she thinks it's been done for weeks while she's speaking in first person about west ham either way either way who knows right

32:13Ample Sample says that Chelsea team were piss poor really worried about the final game yeah VinFuego says first 15 minutes I was feeling confident we were looking decent then revert to type after we went a goal down Richie and Colo words fail me Alex Paramore sickening sickening stuff hate football hate this team hate that team but atop the hate is PGMOL and our board Langer-Vinai Gambles have got us a game from relegation

32:48Callum Lane says very much the Titanic band playing as the ship goes down kind of vibes

33:00Joseph Simpson says I still think we'd do it so not too down just frustrating we couldn't finally beat Chelsea when they're so bad

33:13London Easter says and thank you very much for the whatever it is donation on YouTube say don't know whatever surely Kinski can't be our number one regardless of the Vicario situation I mean I think Kinski has shown enough in the past few games to say that maybe goalkeeper isn't an urgent urgent position to upgrade on I think it seems to be like the world's worst kept secret that Vicario is going this summer so we will be in the market for another goalkeeper it will be interesting to see if we buy another talented young goalkeeper that i guess will have some sort of competition with kinski um or if we sign somebody like sam johnston that we've been trying to get for years seemingly um to be a number two and see if kinski can can ride it out I don't know but yeah mixed mixed back from him tonight wasn't it Peter Doodle says feels crazy it's going to the last day of the season I'm not sure I'll be able to watch on Sunday yeah it's gonna be it's gonna be uh quite unpleasant I'm still sort of it's quite funny to be sat here now on a Tuesday thinking By the end of this week, we will know for certain if Spurs are getting relegated or not.

34:50But by the end of this week, Spurs literally could be relegated. We could be living in a world where Spurs are relegated and who knows what the future holds after that.

35:11I'm still sort of wondering whether I do a post-match I guess do you know what I'm not going to overthink it I mean I'm not going to I am overthinking it already but I guess I'm not going to make a decision about it until I'm in that moment until I'm sort of... I see how the mood strikes after Everton, especially if we go down. The thought of it right now, the thought of sitting and doing this, talking about Spurs getting relegated is deeply, deeply unpleasant. So let's not manifest that for now, I guess.

36:04Mark K Jenner says did Ben Tanker even play tonight? Decision making at both ends of the pitch was appalling yeah as I was sort of saying at the top I don't think he was particularly great but also I do just think seeing him in contrast to Chelsea's midfield is a bit of a lesson in perspective you know um that's just it for me benedict fox says a relentlessly painful season punctuated by brief moments of hope um like finding an air pocket in an underwater cave but you're never out like was it nutty putty isn't it whatever it is that horrible infamous cave where the guy slowly died like head down miserable

36:59Merlin says I think this game was the last time I commented here saying I was done with the club as in like that's it, that's what you're doing now

37:12Lock and Soul expressed that Benton Kerr and Poligno looked off it tonight without saying the obvious about Mwani, so many opportunities to move forward wasted after winning possession yeah Mr Howes about that then says with nothing up our sleeves apart from Madison he's not fit no and he looked even more pronounced this evening I thought you know he was trying but he's he's way off it isn't he you know and to be fair chucking him in away at Stamford Bridge is is quite something but just that moment when he when the ball went through to him and he just in its milliseconds really but he just took that little bit too long whereas you sort of think a fully fit fully sharp madison just slaps that in the back of the net you know um there we go capote says surprised we had seven plus days rest compared to their two and we weren't able to do more

38:15Lazzarini says I think the only accurate description for this evening is I think that's right Lara I think you're bang on there Anon Nomad says I hate that we're only in the Premier League again because there are three worse teams than us but only barely

38:40I guess if I was to be obtuse, I would say. Arsenal are only champions because there's 19 worse teams than them. Yeah. Kylinho says, I'm not as down as everyone seems to be. The reason the Newcastle result was great was because we played Chelsea next. I'm not excusing the loss, but this is completely down to us at home now, Coise. I mean, I hate to break it to you, buddy, but have you seen our home form this season? Just saying.

39:14Daniela Wagner says Chelsea weren't great and we couldn't take advantage Mouane worst of a bad bunch don't understand why De Zerbi persists with him Van de Ven looked furious at him for that pass I guess he persists with him because it's all we've got you know really that's it it's the only answer I've got Ricochet Pig says I'll be fuming if Leeds roll over but it wouldn't surprise me Just Keith says Mawani and Tell are two of the worst decision makers I've ever seen on a football pitch I don't know if I'd include Tell in that but yeah a lot of people do a lot of people do not like him at all Ian Johnson says in which games do you think we played quite remarkable football I think we were very good against Brighton at home and my point is we played remarkable football in comparison to where we were so Deserby quite quickly had a Spurs team that looked completely bereft of any confidence any quality looked like it couldn't even pass the ball to each other actually moving about in something resembling a system um actually executing what seemed to be sort of coached attacking patterns and things like that fairly quickly so i think it's all about perspective and it's all about you know like i say compare and contrast compare Spurs pre-Deserby to during Deserby right and I think you can say that for Spurs who had been completely terrible to play against Brighton in the way that they did was pretty remarkable to win away at Villa Park regardless of Villa's rotations and stuff was pretty remarkable some of the football we displayed there was was really quite good so you know that's you've asked the question and that's your answer um

41:38mark lobley says i think i expected relegation a long time ago so anything else is a plus um everton were garbage against sunderland and leads have lost once in 11 games west ham lost their The last three in squad one conceded 10. Yeah, who knows.

42:00Sam Statham says, Desperate to know if Mawani and De Lapp get their footwear from the same timber yard. Both sub because they've got a 30-foot long garden fence to put up in Farnborough in the morning.

42:17Annan Leslie says, Absolutely raging at Mawani. needs to be on a plane to France as we speak. Atrocious performance not committed in the slightest Sunday will be torture. Okay. Atrocious performance not committed in the slightest, then Sunday will be torture. I mean, Sunday is going to be... I mean, how are we supposed to get stuff done from now until Sunday, I ask?

42:49VinFuego says Monday morning has to see an announcement that Langham Vinay have been removed from post of immediate effect. Enough is enough. I mean, it's not going to happen, is it, mate?

43:50uh totally football card says one month ago we were adrift in the relegation zone all we need is a point on sunday we will get that point coys let's hope so totally football cards but you are right you know and that's sort of the point i've tried to touch on as well this evening palm bay digital marketing says now it goes to the final day at home where we haven't been winning because they couldn't show up when it mattered. I'm not even watching. They deserve whatever pressure comes now.

44:22Delock says, on Poch, I can pinpoint the exact time when the ownership showed their intent. Back in 2020, we signed Fernandes. Anyone with half a brain would have thought, yeah, Bruno, he's a player. We signed Getson, who? Yeah.

44:41and I think Bruno Fernandes had said fairly recently in a in a like an interview that Spurs had been linked a lot and he was really excited about the idea of joining and everything so yeah

45:00Isle of Lily White says I'm terrified terrified yeah Joe Scaramanga says two 17th place finishes is not bad luck it's all traced back to the boardroom how can we blame the players tonight when our only attacking option on the bench was a half fit madison apart from randall color moani absolutely wife a latitude and footballer yeah bang on exactly one 17th place finish load of injuries eyes elsewhere on a european campaign blah blah blah are freakish can sometimes happen rarely but do you know what I mean twice no you know twice is big problems big problems Cleo Westerfield says why do the games need to be so late now I have to go to bed thinking about this shower another five anxiety laden days to go exact like exactly that you know just it's not fair is it

46:08um

46:13Brian Park says I wonder if Vinay is popping champagne right now

46:22and Flintering Gaming says people will be eating their words on Sunday when Randall Cullum only scores a last-minute equaliser. I mean, imagine. Imagine the narrative. Yeah.

46:41A chastening evening, a chastening season, really.

46:49Really quite miserable, you know. We had some good times and didn't capitalise on them. and that's that's part of the pain right it's part of the pain i think um

47:05seeing where we've we've fallen to um it's like we we got it put in front of us for a little bit didn't we and it was just sort of snatched away and now it's all kind of falling in on itself but right now as i keep saying it is important to remember that it's in our hands.

47:33We're not waiting on West Ham to slip up.

47:38Get a draw at home against Everton last day of the season and we stay up. Then we can have the big conversations about what happens this summer. What does it matter what the fans converse about? Who knows? But still, we can at least feel like we have some sense of agency, some sense of power in all of this again. Lobby the board with protests, through the trust, through change for Tottenham, whoever it may be, you know? Because one thing I will say is that towards, you know, this season when it's gotten tough, the club have been listening to the fans. It might have come very late, but they have been listening to the fans.

48:27They have been having more dialogue with the fans. So as opposed to just turning this into a complete misery fest, perhaps one of the good things that may come from this is more avenues of communication between the club and fans. Is a greater understanding of the urgency required to remain a competitive team in the Premier League? I mean Enoch have had plenty of warnings to this point but this season surely has to have been the starkest one knowing that we have a manager that will hold them to account

49:11that they are paying a lot of money that they want to keep happy and ultimately if they do keep happy it will be a good thing for Spurs because he seems like a very talented guy and someone that we can

49:29hopefully close the book on all this and all this uncomfortable bottom of the table stuff and look up again, set our sights higher up in the table, have loftier ambitions again as opposed to praying for a point at home against Everton on the final day of the season. but for now that's what it is that's where we're at we're supposed to do something with the rest of this week without just thinking about sunday every second of every day and probably all night long as well waking up in the night thinking about it but such is life get outside touch grass go for a walk do whatever you can stop looking at screens stop doom scrolling get away from it go for a walk clear your minds big one on sunday thanks everybody for listening um for tuning in if you're watching on youtube if you could please drop it a like and subscribe that would be grand if you listen to the podcasts as ever I just ask if you could leave a rating, especially on Spotify, leave us a rating on there.

52:07We'll be right back.

You didn't really think Tottenham would get something at Stamford Bridge did you? Spurs getting done by Chelsea, making our end of season even less comfortable, as Arsenal win the league - truly the nightmare timeline. It was a game that never really got going, and yet another example of why we're in the mess that we're in... quite simply, we're not very good.
