In short

Tottenham Hotspur’s Carabao Cup exit after a 3-1 loss to Liverpool at Anfield, with discussion of Spurs’ recurring inability to score in big games, the rotated “B-team” feel, and what’s needed to fix goal-scoring before the Aston Villa Premier League match.

Guest backgrounds

No named guests. The episode is a solo host commentary with audience comments read aloud.

Key claims

  • Spurs looked “worryingly bad” for long stretches, with low confidence against Liverpool.
  • Rotation was more Liverpool-friendly than Spurs-focused, and Spurs still lacked attacking “killer” chances.
  • Robertson’s introduction (around 65–70 minutes) changed the game for Liverpool, and Spurs’ response improved after a set-piece goal.
  • The bigger issue is personnel/attacking options: Spurs need a “main man” and better solutions to replace goals lost from earlier departures (e.g., Kane/Son/Richarlison).
  • Public Deserby vs Richarlison conflict is a concern, and Spurs may have mismanaged the Richarlison situation.

Notable examples

  • Spurs scored via a Connor Gallagher header from a set piece.
  • Malmoosh/“Marmoush” (keeper save mentioned) had a strong cutting-in moment; Solanke is cited as offering composure but not reliability.
  • Multiple missed chances are referenced, plus Liverpool’s “worldie” goal(s).

2:36That's it. Spurs are out of the Mr Porky Cup.

2:45It's a shame, isn't it? No Europe. No wins in the Premier League. no goals in the Premier League no more Mr Porky Cup for any international viewers or listeners the ITV coverage was sponsored by a pork scratching which I think I think in the States you call pork rind a pork scratching brand called Mr Porky which is something you sort of generally find in pubs

3:23i don't know don't know what sort of animals buy those and take them home we've got mr porky's in the cupboard love you know sort of a demon does that um spurs are out spurs are out no scratchings for tottenham um it was it was worryingly bad until it wasn't i thought and I know people are going to talk about rotation they're going to talk about like you know the average age or whatever not the age so much but more just like it being a B team which wasn't really for Spurs it was more for Liverpool than it was for Tottenham I felt like for large parts of the game we weren't offering much at all it felt like the players just had zero kind of confidence or belief that they could get anything at Anfield and it's kind of strange that it's like it's like a wider problem at Tottenham why we as a fan base as a club whoever the staff are whoever the players are whatever always seem to just see winning Anfield, Stamford Bridge, the Emirates as like an insurmountable task.

4:54It's just something we don't do. And I think that plays out a lot. I think that is kind of echoed in our sort of approach to these games a lot of the time. But Liverpool went 2-0 up. We made a few changes. I've got to say my head was slightly on Mars when Robertson Robbo came on at 2-0 up and he's kind of getting that standing ovation from Liverpool fans it was all very what was it 65th minute 70th minute around that sort of point it was all very Pat Tottenham on the head it was all very Pat Tottenham on the head and yeah I was I was kind of questioning that as a as a decision um it was probably one more made with a doggy's fitness and whatever in mind um but Robertson was actually really good when he came on he was really good um I thought he was making you know really meaningful runs his deliveries were consistently good it my perhaps my my largely unfounded kind of worry that he was gonna he was gonna come onto the pitch and somehow not really want to take it to Liverpool his beloved Liverpool if you like or exactly that it was an unfounded fear um because it felt like it was it was one of those where he you know you'd probably you'd probably twist it if you wanted to justify it to say he wanted to show the team he loves the ultimate respect by playing to his best against them kind of thing um when really you know you don't know there might even be a bit of him that's thinking i'll show you lot for letting me go i've there's still something here there's still fight left in the old dog if you like um everyone goes on about him being old he's like 31 isn't he you know like it doesn't that doesn't say much for uh for me actually um it's worrying it's worrying how quickly that happens how footballers go from being like someone you look at as like these guys could all be my dad to these guys could all be my big brother to these guys are all like my age to these guys are all my little brother and now a lot of the time is these kids could be my son it's really it's it's it's it's bizarre and it's really worrying how quickly it happens um but that's the side point that's the side point uh andy robertson could andy robertson be my son no not really i'd have to be i'd have to be a bit of a wrong and i think you know all due respect to anyone that's had a kid at nine ten years old to uh yeah to to sire Andy Robertson if you like um so I think he's still in I think he's still in little brother territory maybe maybe cousin something like that right but I don't I don't really there's no real need for me to make this sort of familial tie to Andy Robertson after all I'm simply talking about the sort of impact he had when he came on the pitch for Tottenham Hotspur.

8:21And I've only gone and sidetracked myself there, haven't I? What am I like?

8:29Spurs, yeah, Spurs started to look really good, didn't we? We started to look really good. We got the goal from a set piece, from a set piece, no less. Connor, useless, expletive, deleted, Gallagher. scored a header he's almost looked kind of embarrassed he almost looked sort of like he you know i don't know he's not very happy does he i would say i mean to be fair he probably only needs to go on social media for about a millisecond to probably be rather unhappy right as a um as a yeah as a human being right and see the way people talk about him i think i don't know if anyone if anyone ever remembers uh i'm sure a few people my age will there was an old sort of political satire called the thick of it um armando ianucci in the uk a few years ago and one of the one of the characters on that said uh it was a you know it's a politician it's all based in like westminster and everything like that and one of the politicians said uh have you ever googled yourself and i think the person i was talking to was like no why and he said because it's basically like walking into a room where everyone tells you how shit you are um which is that's just quite funny isn't it um so that's probably sort of the lived experience for conor gallagher right now you know it's you know it's nice i think he's got a kid on the way he's got a nice dog he seems like he's having a nice life you know he's and you know he's likely a millionaire so you know i just do a two bob two bob podcast for a few people and i i get plenty of abuse online you know i mean justice for podcasters that's what i say um especially marino era ang era do you know i mean if you did if you didn't stay if you didn't stay on script in those two eras i mean some of the stuff some of the stuff you'd get would be uh be pretty wild would be pretty wild but But we're not there anymore, are we?

10:36We're not there. Tottenham are not there, for better or worse. I'm sort of skirting around this. I'm doing a lot of the kind of like, ho, ho, ho, how can I add some levity to this one?

10:58It's another game where I've left sort of not really knowing what Spurs are. I would say in the first sort of part of that game, right, before we actually started to look all right, I was starting to get a bit worried. And I think I have been getting a bit worried about Spurs. Despite the fact, and I'm not going back on this, despite the fact, you know, Green shoots against Forest, Green shoots against Everton, despite the lack of goals, you know, and I know the narrative was always going to be Tottenham aren't scoring goals. This is terrible and everything. But, you know, I think if you are not even trying to like, just like, you know, bright side it, those were, they were good performances.

11:50Spurs looked solid, they looked organized, all that type of thing, right? But there's still that bit of me that's like, and this is the, you know, the big question right now. The 350 million pound question, isn't it? Is where are the goals coming from? Before the season even kicks off, soccer fans are already making predictions. Who wins the league? Who qualifies for Europe? And who's lifting the trophy at season's end? On Calci, America's number one prediction market platform, you're trading against peers in a live market, meaning there's no house. 13:13Why wait? We. Go. V. Propel Fitness Water. With Gatorade electrolytes, zero sugar, and vitamins, Propel hydrates better than water to help you get the most out of your workout and get back to your best self. What propels you? Propel with Gatorade electrolytes. Um, where are they coming from? You know, across an entire season, right? A good pal said to me on WhatsApp, right now it feels like we are going to need at least two of our players to have truly like generational seasons for Spurs to do anything kind of meaningful. and it feels like right now nobody's going to be doing that. But we can't say that for certain, can we?

14:08We simply have to score goals. And there's a lot of talk about Spurs clicking. People saying that, like, look, we're close to getting there and when it does sort of click, when we do gel, everything's going to be A-OK. I'll be brutally honest, I'm not entirely sure how much I buy that because I don't necessarily, and this is kind of a positive and it's kind of a negative, and thus we come back to the sort of weird place that Tottenham are in, is I don't exactly think that Spurs look unclicked. I don't think we look un-gelled. I think there's a fair amount of cohesion to what Tottenham are doing.

14:58I think Deserby has given us some sort of identity. I do think we look largely more solid. I mean, that wasn't really the case today, but it was a largely rotated team, especially in defence, all that type of thing, right? The big problem seems to be, quite simply, Tottenham scoring goals. Tottenham having somebody that can provide exceptional killer opportunities for anybody who's in an advanced position. It feels like we do everything right for the most part until the kind of, what would you call it, pre-assist? Do you know what I mean? That's kind of where it all sort of starts to fall down a bit.

15:54and i guess like my my sort of my gut feeling there is it's more of a personnel issue because i was talking to baker about this the other day quite a bit right we were sort of trying to get to the bottom of is this a deserve issues a system issue is it a club issue is it you know what is what is going on i kind of do personally think it's it is a personnel thing um i think my Almoosh looks really good, but he looks good when he's sort of cutting in from the wing. He had that lovely, lovely little sort of, you know, dart into the Liverpool box that was, it was an unbelievable save in the end by Mum, sorry, I can't pronounce his name, the Liverpool keeper.

16:41I'm not going to butcher that. I'm not going to, I would rather admit, I'd rather be a big enough man to say, yes, I can't pronounce that person's name as opposed to butchering it like, you know, David Pleat or Jamie Redknapp, who still says Kukucheski or whatever. Do you know what I mean? How is it that difficult?

17:05Great save. So I do like Malmouche in that position. um the all you know conversations about Dominic Solanke will continue to be had no doubt and the Richarlison thing is yeah you know is a is a is an interesting one right um I've sort of spoken about Richarlison quite a bit on here I've spoken about like you know how tired i am of his antics of the childish sort of posting and he's continued doing that and i still find it pretty ridiculous to be honest i find it pretty basic and just childish but at the same time you know deserve he keeps calling him out publicly over and over and over and over again and it's just kind of like let's can we all just get past this um because like what yeah how is this going to continue for the rest of the season or what until Richarlison goes if he goes in January or I don't know and again kind of like I sort of said with Danso it just you know begs the question for me couldn't this have been resolved in a better fashion if we weren't going to be replacing Richarlison Richarlison who you know for all his flaws has scored goals for Tottenham and some fairly important goals down last season if we're not going to replace those goals and these are these are sort of the same conversations we had when Kane left when Sonny left like it's all well and good to let these players go but football is quite straightforward it's like Yeah, you're never going to find a player that scores as many goals as Harry Kane, right?

18:51Unless you sign Erling Haaland, which Tottenham aren't going to do. But you have to try and mitigate that somehow. You have to try and see how you can score goals. Even if it's two players or if it's three players, right? Who is going to be scoring those goals that are leaving the team? and it just it just feels like things like that are just such a weirdly like basic oversight from people who are paid so much money to run a football club it just seems so it seems so mental to me that we would allow this Richarlison sort of situation to snowball in the fashion that it has without any sort of idea of how we are gonna you know

19:44make up for that make up for his lack of presence his lack of goals in the team um and this is kind of this is the sort of stuff i've spoken about a bit you know when i've gone on about modric or whatever is that there has been plenty to be happy about this summer and i have been very encouraged by a lot of the business that Tottenham have done the way they've gone about doing their business so you know this isn't a complete assassination of the people running the club as I've maybe done in previous seasons but it still shows that there is an element of bad decision making an element of kind of rushed or chaotic thinking that goes on behind the scenes at Spurs which has no doubt contributed to the sort of issues we had last year the year before whenever and in the in the past few years really um but who knows you know i maybe we get the three points against villa which is at this point is pretty crucial in my opinion like it's a it's a must win game it is a must it's i'm sorry it's a must win game aston villa already at this point in the season um and people people can call that ridiculous all they want but you know the scars of last season run deep um and if you think if you think Tottenham are above any point whatsoever regardless of when it comes in the season like you haven't been paying attention ultimately you haven't been paying attention to the ultra competitive nature of the Premier League um and yeah I just I think it's I think it's stupid I think it's a nothing to say that like it's not must win at this point in the season of course it is Aston Villa aren't going to stay this bad for an entire season and we're still going to have to play them away um you know we've got to capitalize now we have to capitalize now in just that that raw sense like um we need uh we need the points and we also just need a lift we need a lift going into the international break how how many how many tons have said that down years ahead of the international break we need some points we always know what happens don't you how many times it's the same stuff over and over again we've lost at anfield again was it 14 15 years now it's pathetic

22:17you know we did we had a we had a spell of playing pretty well in this game and so Bozly's goal was an absolute screamer you know the the sort of the the goal that clinched the game was unbelievable um I'm just you know like I can't I can't escape the feeling that as much as I have optimism for Spurs I'm also worried I do have that bit of worry in me that like we're not as guaranteed to pull away from this dangerous part of the table as I think many people think we definitely are and I don't think that's entirely a reflection on Tottenham and I think that's entirely a kind of like a statement that indicates I think that Tottenham are actively bad it's more just a concern that again as I continue saying the quality in the Premier League is pretty good across the board you know Leeds smashed up Newcastle last night right and Newcastle did us 2-0 but Newcastle looked abject last night and these sort of comparisons you know comparisons in that way this team beat that team and we lost to this team and whatever you know it means nothing at the end of the day we beat man city all the time and man city will still go and win the league yeah more often than not so there is only so much you can draw from those type of things i'm just simply making the point that like the premier league is decent hull hull look good sunderland are really good you know these these and the point is like these are the sort of teams that like for the most part for the most part at least for the last decade and however long decade and change right spurs have had games like that as four to six point bankers really um are they anymore i don't know i don't think so

24:50but this was the carabao cup this is not the premier league this is a rotated tottenham team more of these big wider conversational points should be had out the back of the aston villa game it might be a tedious and you know well trodden thing to say but we're playing Liverpool at Anfield it's not a happy hunting ground for Tottenham classically speaking

25:20we did all right for a bit we got a goal we got a goal from a set piece you know

25:32Equally, I'm not going to sit here and like, you know, people have been, you know what I'm going to say? Like people have been very touchy this season already so far. I think I've gotten the most pushback and it's only a few games gone. I've gotten the most, you know what I mean? I wasn't even doing half of them. I've been, I've had my throat all chopped up and everything. But people have been giving it like pushback this year. Why have you said that? Why is your opinion this? Why are you so negative? it's like well because we've had two seasons in a row where we finished 17th we nearly got relegated last year and we started this season not winning any games and not scoring any goals like i'm not just gonna sit here and be like everything is fine everything is fine it'll all be fine when it clicks when we suddenly have a player that can suddenly hold up the ball and score goals and win aerial duels in the opposition box like you know that player isn't going to just suddenly exist right we're going to need to find new solutions for that and hopefully Roberto Deserbi does you know he's paid a lot of money and you know I do have faith in his ability to be able to do that but it's not a given I can only comment on what I see what is in front of me right now right and what's in front of me right now is not particularly that good um but as i continue to say it's not that bad either it's it's just kind of weird isn't it it's kind of weird let's see what some of you are saying in the comments um isle of lily white says i am annoyed very annoyed absolutely nailed on for a last minute equalizer then they score a goal that will likely be goal of the season already this only happens to us what's the point um and then says thanks as ever jack relying on you to make me feel better about supporting the team that it seems has it scripted to always lose in the end well thank you for tuning in isle of lily white um i appreciate that mate and i mean this is like this is the sort of point i'm trying to make right like it's i'm not trying to sit here and i'm not trying to be like uber negative i'm not trying to like you know be like the sky is falling it's all terrible get rid of deservey scream and shout into my camera so Arsenal fans can come and laugh and I get more views because people are laughing at the top of the meltdown and all that type of thing like you know I'm not going to do that type of thing or very big of me I know but like you know it's not it's not it's not what I'm trying to do here but I try to be as like earnest and as authentic and as like true to myself as I can be on here.

28:39And with that in mind, like I'm not going to gaslight people. I'm not in the business of psyops here, right? I'm not going to say it's all good. I'm not going to say it's all perfect because there's stuff to work on. Every game day, you show up for your team. Now it's your time. We go V! We go V! Ask your prescriber about We Go V, semaglutide injection 2.4 milligrams a glp1 call 1-833-4-WEGOV or visit wegovi.com to view the medication guide and to learn more about wegovi why wait we go propel fitness water with gatorade electrolytes zero sugar and vitamins propel hydrates better than water to help you get the most out of your workout and get back to your best self What propels you?

29:33Propel with Gatorade Electrolytes. How do you guarantee your Jägermeister is always ice cold? Well, you could move to Antarctica. Sure, frostbite is a thing. Your dating apps won't let you set your radius to 3 ,000 miles. And your neighbor is an emperor penguin who honks outside your igloo. Or you could just keep your Jägermeister in the freezer. Drink it cold or don't drink it at all. Jägermeister. Damn, that's cold. Drink responsibly. Jägermeister liqueur 35 % alcohol by volume imported by Matt Jägermeister US White Plains New York and also on top of that on top of the thing to work on is the fact that Spurs do always seem to get pretty bad luck don't they you know it's just Peter Turner says it's becoming oh so predictable isn't it it doesn't matter what good work we do as we've built this squad up of players that don't ever make the right decision the lack of footballing intelligence um Gallagher might just be the most meh player we've ever had tell again makes the wrong decision near enough every time I mean the funny thing is Pete and I'm not you know I'm not having a pop or anything I don't I don't actually feel as like downbeat as that like you know um I do feel like you know i'm more i don't even know if positive or optimistic that how i would frame it i just kind of feel like

31:10i feel like we're all right but i just feel like we're seriously lacking like i just i just think the oversight i think the oversight on cover for poro and just somebody else that can play up top is just is wild as i continue to say from people who are paid a hell of a lot of money to build football teams right it's just mental it's mental that like we're sort of in this position i don't know um 10m scally says we'll be fine jack underhill 4444 says pro we scored a goal con i never want to see the scorer play for us again jkr infinite says i feel so embarrassed for mamouche to go from winning trophies with city to playing for us and getting no service tell cannot start again kudush should stay injured um i mean that's a bit harsh i uh tell probably yeah you know tell needs a bit more time to kind of yeah a few more sort of substitute appearances as opposed to starting um could is i you know i i don't know about the stay injured thing like i think part of the problem is that he's not you fully recovered from his injury, right?

32:36And that's kind of how I sort of feel about it with him. I've seen a few people, you know, I saw a few takes on like Twitter and stuff like that where people were saying like, God, it's so refreshing having Kiddos back and stuff. I kind of feel like I was watching a different player. I thought he was actively quite bad today, Kiddos. Wasn't really taking on his man. I didn't really see much of sort of merit from what it was that he was doing. Just kind of a bit weird, you know. Yeah, you know, I'm not fully sort of on board with the fact that he's kind of really bringing an awful lot to the table right now.

33:29I thought he looked all right when he came on against Forrest. that little sort of cameo he had at the end of I mean what was it 20 minutes or so I'm not sure he's back to his very best yet yeah I didn't I wasn't I wasn't really feeling it Big Y says losing things to still love about this club it's so soul destroying being associated with it um it's so hard to not be constantly pessimistic about everything that we do yeah i mean people yeah people are sort of feeling a bit like sad today i think hacker cps says rdz has the tactical iq of a strawberry

34:14ed chet says mr loader sit us tonight it will click mr stephen stotch says it's russell martin football how many times did a player make a run instead of playing him uh in we just turned and played a simple pass backwards i think he values possession over goals um matthew sippler says i didn't even want to win the cup mask over crying face emoji um doesn't matter the the manager our approach never changes

34:52Vincent McCormack says there were some positive signs but it's very frustrating again we can't seem to make the right choice in the attacking third yeah yeah I think that's fair Jack Huntley says I feel like the only positive fan at the moment we've come from two seasons of finishing 17th what did we all expect the football is a million miles better than it has been compared to those seasons i i sort of it was one of those i think you had me in the first half and lost me a bit in the second half there jack i would say like uh i do agree with the whole sort of sentiment that we have finished 17th twice in a row and there's probably is a bit more perspective required there in terms of what we expected and what we thought we might do this year.

35:50I don't know if it looks a million miles better than the last couple of years. So right now, I think there's some encouraging signs in an organisational sense, as I keep saying. I sound like some sort of like stationary company auditor, don't I? there's some encouraging signs in

36:17but yeah it's still kind of annoying in the same way I find though mate you know like we're quite good but we're also not you know it's just yeah

36:37Jack Huntley does follow up by saying in saying that that was a winnable game and it's a shame that we didn't win it so I'm still disappointed but actually enjoying watching us again which is something yeah that's fair enough mate James Nicholson says I'm getting seriously bored with losing routinely we are playing too safe and need players to play progressive through balls so many missed opportunities in the first half the villa game is big 320 music vb says we have to act in january yep james reed says we need to talk about matty's tale

37:18i think people are talking about matty's tale a lot to be fair mate um um matter jack says we did well gave him a good game yep i think that's fair

37:35nantius says uh the point made by you and baker on the last pod was spot on we need to score early to bring sides out and take our chances when we get them yeah

37:48James Forster says I feel like we are missing a main man a talisman that inspires everyone on the pitch yeah do you know what I mean it's that same thing isn't it it's the star player thing there's all sort of banging on about before where's the Jinnler, the Klinsman, the Sherrynhem the Kane, the Son, the Berbatov, the Keane you know we just we haven't got them the Vandervaar sessions ever at all that you know um

38:20zeros and one says i'm tired robbie simple currency one-on-one lots of chaos players but no composure marmouche savinho tell could is total chaos almost headless chicken sometimes the one who does have a bit of composure is solanke and he's not reliable ball.

38:44JSNC3FW says, do you not think they will end up finishing those chances? Their keeper also had a stormer. Their keeper was good. Yeah, he was good. Marmish Dilly? I said I wasn't going to try and pronounce it. He's a good keeper. They

39:10marmadashvili marmadashvili there we go i'm good let's try that doing i'm doing i'm in my david plate era my face is sort of you know baggy enough already now so i can you know let me just give into it um

39:28keep it to do well um so yeah cool uh

39:39sean pierce watching from vietnam hello mate enjoy enjoy the scrann have a pho for me i love a pho i know that's the pretentious way of saying it right the connect it's like you know saying you know paris isn't it you know it's that sort of thing isn't it it's actually pronounced pho not foe um but that that sort of do you know i mean like the noodles some nice prawns good like warm salty broth with like offset with the sort of flavors of you know lime bit of mint coriander nice sort of chili kick in there love it love it fantastic fantastic grub

40:37alter ego thfc says can't believe people are questioning roberto deservey like it was his fault we missed two sitters and liverpool scored a couple of worldies from nowhere

40:52i mean i do know i mean i do think it's early and like i say i mean like when all is said and done for me deserve he has loads of credit in the bank um but i do see why people are questioning him if i'm brutally honest yeah i mean the sort of the public nature of like this spat river charlison and stuff like it is slight cause of concern you know we talk about like um we talk about like deserve being a bit of a live wire and stuff you know before he came here and that sort of stuff is a bit of a worry you know it just is um so yeah roger b says thank you for the therapy session thanks for tuning in mate um sip spur says feel like they were there to be got tonight two absolute sitters missed this is on the players tonight despite the attempt at a resurgence i can take a positive in the fact that we even got chances.

41:54Brian Park says, watching these players and thinking back to the times when it all felt like a guaranteed goal when players like some went through. I took those times to granted. I think we all did to a degree, mate. There's a sort of feeling that it was going to go on forever, really, wasn't it? That we would end up replacing those players with someone else. I can't do it again. you know i can't i can't go on about like 16 17 and stuff again as much as i'd love to but just not getting anything over the line you know alex paramour says um the outrage on socials is killing me please chill this is so much better than last year we need time it's hard to accept um but we do Gallagher can do one and take tail with him though I mean I would say mate like that's kind of that's kind of like social outrage as well though isn't it to a degree Alex like you know because I think equally you would be able to say that Gallagher scored the goal tonight and he can fulfill you know an ugly function within the team that you know lots of teams maybe do like can tell as a young player who blah blah blah i don't know

43:21tiffway says as an american hoodoos are fascinating when a team makes an annual trip somewhere over here they typically don't go 10 plus years without a win football psychology is interesting look i mean what i would say tiffway is that like this sort of feels like a Tottenham thing as well really um this main character syndrome it you know it feels like these sort of hoodoos just kind of plague this club quite a lot um and I don't really know why you know

44:02Shark Sandwich says it's Anfield we haven't had a good run at that ground since before the titanic sank yeah i know but why is that a thing that i mean that is a question we have to ask ourselves you can continue to say yeah look you know we always lose there but i don't think it should stop people from saying i don't really want that to be the case so why is it just the accepted truth that we lose there all the time you know um mark lobley says i'm not worried about relegation i don't think we're in trouble i'm battling apathy though i think it's the conditioning we went through we now expect um to win this ideal is what hurts yeah maybe brian park asked me for my thoughts on the ocarina of time remake brian i am incredibly excited about the uh the ocarina of time remake i have it pre-ordered um Genuinely, I'm more excited about that than I am GTA 6.

45:10It's just, yeah, it's a lovely, lovely little kind of, you know, should we call it a safe space? Is that, should we call it that?

Or you could just keep your Jägermeister in the freezer. drink it cold or don't drink it at all Jägermeister damn that's cold drink responsibly Jägermeister liqueur 35 % alcohol by volume imported by Mass Jägermeister US White Plains New York there's a good quote there's a good quote that actually ironically enough from the ocarina of time that people have been reusing again now because it's pertinent to do so you could probably apply it to Tottenham to a degree as well perhaps and that quote is the flow of time is always cruel its speed seems different for each person but no one can change it a thing that does not change your time is a memory of younger days which is quite nice isn't it it's quite sort of you know nice it's a nice little quote i thought

47:28jsnc3fw says lots of calm needed clear progress in certain aspects this evening under frank we won games but you could tell it was going to go to poo poo

47:44hoff05q says sanessi looks expensive for a free um just keith says i think it's time to call an end to the tell experiment james pruden says positives lots of really good chances mamouche looks sharp especially in the second half the doggy was strong madison looking all right I am staying positive.

48:08Ricochet Pig says, feel like we need to hold our nerves for now, but we might spiral if we don't click soon. If we get it right, we'll be flying though.

48:28Gavin 6535 says, Bergval, does he do anything other than give the ball away? should have taken the 50 mil that was offered in the summer it's funny is it because there were certain little moments where i thought he looked all right and then other moments where he was kind of frustrating which i guess is one of those things that's to be expected of a young player so you know ultimately like we didn't take the money did we in summer so you know he's our player and let's get behind him and all that right lemontech says whatever i dropped some super noodles in the second half i mean when you say you dropped is this like like you you ate some you dropped them kind of thing using sort of drug parlance in a foodie sense saying you know they were really good or you literally dropped them like all over the floor soup and like gelatinous gooey noodles in the carpet or through the floorboards type thing because that's a bit of a pain isn't it but you know what they say no use crying over spilt super noodles um ben denas says smash villa and the whole season opening malaise will be forgotten jeremy kinsler says come on lads like the video thank you very much yeah i mean do you mean my video benxh9 pc says do you play boulder's gate jack no i've heard it's really good i did play some of the old ones back in the day i am old enough to have played those ones i've not played the new one um i don't have anything that i can play it on basically so you know there you go um but yeah i've heard it's great i've you know i've heard people really really enjoy it um so yeah bowie the blade says was it just me or are we categorically not playing it through in the middle um at least five times i was screaming at the tv for them to play my moosh through is that i don't know is that a personnel thing i think fernandez was trying to a bit wasn't he when he came on um so yeah alessandro thfc says i feel the best way to describe myself and life as a Spurs fan is weary.

50:45Yeah, I think that's kind of probably a pretty good way to look at it, isn't it?

50:59Yeah, I don't know. Spurs are out of cup. It is frustrating. I think the thing that's even more annoying, right, is to like, as we all sort of felt, when the draw happened, right? When the draw happened and we've got Liverpool again and you see the amount of gubbins that's still in this competition, where you just think, oh, why are we getting Liverpool already? Like, I know that sort of the thing is, if you want to win this competition, any competition in England now, really, League Cup or not, you know, people are going to talk about the League Cup like it's the wooden spoon. I'm guessing the hierarchy is, but in order to win it, you're still going to have to beat, generally speaking, one or two of the big boys who all more often than not take it seriously nowadays, right?

51:51So it's going to be a difficult competition to win.

51:57But it's annoying to get it this early. It's annoying to get Liverpool this early. We're a team of Liverpool's ilk at this point in the competition. you know it's nice to have a few more games to be able to get a few more players up to speed you know we did rotate today and everything right but it wasn't a rotation to like solely kind of like young players and stuff right it was a rotation to give a few more players a few more minutes get them up to sort of like match sharpness and things like that right and it's just kind of like our opportunities to do that decrease when we go out of competitions like this it's also kind of like the chance to just get a bit more confidence to get people's sort of excitement up fans and players just dissipates when again you draw Liverpool at Anfield like you know in this sort of competition you want dog and duck at home you know give them a slap we go on our merry way to the next round and you know everyone's sort of a bit happier you're a bit happier going into the weekend after the Charlton game, you know?

53:07If we had a nice sort of 3-4-0 win tonight against a championship side or whatever, we're going into the Villa game thinking, that's it, we needed that. We needed a little confidence boost. We've built on the sort of the uptick in form from Forest to Everton to Dog and Duck that we beat 3-0. Let's go into, let's take some of that into Villa now and get our first Premier League win. But now it's kind of like we've had another one of these performances where it's like, well, Spurs have showed that they are capable of being all right, but they've also showed that you can get at them and you can score and, you know, they are worryingly beatable, which, yeah.

54:03but look let's let's save the grand inquisition for after i mean do we i mean does it need a grand inquisition at that point i don't know but let's save these sort of bigger conversations for after the aston villa game um i'm tired i should go to bed now but thanks for tuning in thanks for you know if you are live and you're watching this for the first time why not like why not subscribe go on help other fans to see it help me get towards 5k what is it subscribers on youtube nearly there nearly there i'm i'm a mere i'm a minnow in the grand scheme of things but it's still quite nice you know it's quite nice to have a nice sort of rounded off number like that um you know it won't be long if you if if everybody keeps watching these keeps liking them right and subscribing won't be long till i have my gold plaque my youtube plaque behind me right will it you know um if you listen to the pod or like watching it now because spotify's video and stuff isn't it leave us a rating leave us a review if you use reddit and stuff like that or twitter or blue sky and people say what tottenham podcast should i listen to say listen to rule the roost the the guy's kind of unbearable but still in a certain way you know he's he's he's he's sort of enjoyable at times right he's that guy that did the bus thing a few weeks ago the bus thing the the edit is the edit is you know in full flow if you didn't see i uh i took public transport all the way and like public transport i took public buses so no national express no mega bus nothing like that no trains no cabs no cars just buses provincial round houses buses snaking all the way up the country to nottingham for our away game at nottingham i documented the journey on both twitter and blue sky you can see the thread there but the video is on its way um so yeah if you enjoy that kind of thing youtube is going to be the place to watch it the first place where you'll get to watch it though is on patreon patreon.com slash rtr pod you know if you do want to support the show if you want to help me keep the lights on why not subscribe there's a couple of different tiers you can subscribe to and i'm massively appreciative to anybody that does but if not i appreciate that not everyone can just a like or a subscribe or a comment or anything like that is helpful i'm going to stop begging now and i'm going to go to bed.

56:45Thank you very much everybody for tuning in. We were bad and then we were alright, weren't we? So, you know, come on you Spurs, I guess, up the Spurs and all that. Spurs lose to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup. Another loss at Anfield. It was looking like a joyless evening, until a few subs saw things start to get going... until a Szoboszlai screamer sealed the deal.
