0:14Yeah, a bit later than usual. I was at the game. Makes a change. I bloody wish I wasn't. I wish I hadn't been. Where to start? What a dark day. what miserable miserable day um i guess the look there's there's there's different ways to sort of break into this one isn't there um you gotta start on like the emotional beats of it there's no dressing it up right and i'll maybe i'll try to in a bit maybe i'll try to reflect on some of the very, very slight positives. I hesitate to even use that word. But some of the slight positives that you might be able to take from that game. But first and foremost, I just have to say, it's really miserable.

1:18It was a really dark day. Really, really horrible to see Spurs get battered in that fashion by them at any time. but especially when they've been going through a bit of a hump we supposedly were coming into this one irrespective look I understand like and this is what I'm saying I will do some more I'll do the less emotional stuff I'll do the more you know rational reflection on this game in a bit but I just need to get this stuff out first right the fact that they've been going through a bit of a hump and regardless of our injuries or poor transfer windows the fact that we had a supposed new manager bounce we had a bit of energy we had a chance to maybe go into this game and make a statement make a statement that we weren't a team that was relegation fodder make a statement that they were not as good as they thought they were that they were you know bottling the title again all that type of stuff right and it couldn't have been any further from that um they were playing a different sport than us yesterday and there were there were things yes i think the second i think the the decision for the second goal for our second goal was outrageous for that to get chalked off is outrageous um you know i i would love to sit here honestly i would love to sit here and say had that goal stood, it might have been a different story.

2:51I don't, I honestly, I'm not so sure it would have been. Arsenal were far superior to us in a way that I haven't seen for many, many, many years. I'm talking like when I was a kid and they're winning titles, invincible and stuff. And even then, even then, if I'm being brutally honest, I remember many of our teams putting up a much bigger fight than they did yesterday so it's miserable to see that happen and you know what the funny thing is I did get swept up in it I got swept up in the sort of the idea that Igor Tudor might be able to change things a bit not change things but just at least imbue a new sense of belief emboldened a few of these players who had been maybe playing within themselves under Thomas Frank to go out there and show a bit more of what they were capable of.

3:49And like I say, I'll get to the more rational stuff and I feel like we did do that in slight bursts at times. But I can't in good faith record this type of thing and say that I didn't feel that Arsenal were miles better than us and that we were quite disappointing as well that there did come a point when they just gave up and that's a sign of what this squad has been for two seasons now, really. They've gotten into that habit of losing games and not really having professional pride, not having pride in themselves, not having pride in the shirt, not really wanting to perform for the fans. And whatever anyone said, whatever, I don't, I really, I don't want to hear any of your Neville's, Carragher's, Igor Tudor, any of the players going on about the fans not giving them something.

4:47Because the atmosphere in White Hart Lane yesterday was unbelievable. It was unbelievable. Even when we were getting done, it was loud. The atmosphere on the high road the whole day long, there was a buzz in the air. It was massive. It felt like, you know, it was one of those days I was with Phil and we were sort of reflecting, saying like, this feels like one of those days. It feels like one of those days when we fancy it. You could see it. It was in the air. There was a lot of cautious optimism amongst a lot of Spurs fans and everything. And it's sometimes that sort of intangible that like can get stuff across the line and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, all that type of stuff.

5:30Tifo look quality I mean we were part of it but where you could see on the screen and after the match and everything it looked quality the conditions were there the conditions were set out for the players and you know I you can't you can only hold it against them so much that their opposition are so vastly superior to them but as Wolves showed the other week you know where there's a will there's a way and i'm not so sure that that's there um now it's just a it's just it was just a dark dark day and i feel i feel miserable you know i got home what about eight o 'clock 8 30 pretty much went straight to bed i was just do you mean it was just one of those days i was just like i've just got hump like you know i just want to go to bed I'm just tired.

6:30I can't really be bothered, you know.

6:38But how do we, I mean, what do we reflect on? The fact that there were a couple of positives in there. So, okay, look, Ronda Kalamwani, as we maybe hoped, under Igor Tudor looked like he had the bit between his teeth somewhat both of his goals were brilliant you know really really good and showed to me they showed that he is a player of a certain quality of a certain class it's yeah all right I understand that compounds in some ways in a backhanded way that compounds the disappointment that he hasn't been better, that he hasn't sort of given more of that during his time at Spurs so far. But, you know, we need him at a time like this.

7:31And if he sort of comes to the fore now, not because I think he wants to do well for Spurs, but I think he's thinking about the World Cup. He'll be thinking about getting his move to Juve or whatever next season. And look, if Spurs benefit from that, from, I would say, probably very, very, you know, we throw around terms like world class or this or that. But let's just say a very talented player. If we benefit from a very talented player doing what he does well, then great, fine. Let's just have that. Let's get through to the summer. Let's stay in the Premier League and, you know, start afresh in a new year, in a new season.

8:13So he did score the, you know, and like I say, I think the decision for the second goal, the thing is, right, I was incensed by it and I still am. But like I say, I can't in good faith sit here and just piss and moan about that because I feel that that somehow indicates that I feel that were it not for that, we would have gone on and won or something like that because I don't think we would have done. I think Arsenal sooner or later, what happened to us would have still happened. um i just think they were just so much better than us so much better than us um but the second the second was a disgrace it was a disgrace the decision was the decision was ridiculous like ridiculous um and it's a fact we've seen so many examples of these going the other way as well we obviously saw you know there was another example of one of these sort of famously happening to us was Kane at Stamford Bridge can't remember who he got maybe it was was it Thiago Silva he maybe did a little push on or something and I remember one of those getting ruled off but we've seen that happen to us I'm fairly I'm fairly certain for a goal that Arsenal scored in this exact fixture last year Gabriel actually pushed Christian Romero to win a header.

9:45And it was a much more aggressive, forceful push than what Rendell Calamani did on this. You know, I've seen some people say, well, actually, even the slightest tip when somebody's blubbered, come on, it's nonsense. And the thing is, you don't want to be a gammon about it. Not that it has ever stopped me, but still. It's a contact sport, isn't it, at the end of the day? and the suggestion that that was a foul is strong. But he's what he is. He got ruled out. But yeah, Rando Calamani, look, both of his goals were great. The first goal that stood was excellent. Shades of Harry Kane in the North London derby, cutting him from the wing, running it across the face of goal, slotting it in beautiful like really really good finish really lovely finish um where's that been you know but as i say if it's here if it's here now fine we're gonna need it we're gonna need everything like that um i don't i i don't want to sit here and like single players out but But, you know, I was not impressed with Conor Gallagher.

11:09There might be an air of confirmation bias here. I've not made secret the fact that I've never been that impressed by him. I wasn't that impressed with the signing of him. And I understand that people will say he's been put into a dysfunctional team.

11:29But isn't he supposed to be part of the change? Isn't he supposed to be part of what's bringing some function to the side? This combative dynamo midfielder. I just felt like he was as, as basically my criticism of him has always been English Hojbjerg. And that's what I got yesterday. That's what I saw when I saw him playing against Declan Rice, who, you know, one of his contemporaries, somebody who, you know, they're probably in a similar ballpark in the respect of like positionally, vying for the same sort of, you know, starting berth for England in midfield and everything like that. It was night and day, wasn't it?

12:16And I think Rice has got a few years on him, a bit more experience or that sort of thing. So it's not the fairest comparison. I'm not going to pretend that it is, but I'm merely making the point that, you know, if you're signing a player to like take our midfield on a level, the benchmark is set by players like Rice, isn't it? You know, loath as we are to say it, it's true. He's been one of the best English midfielders in a long time. And at least playing in the Premier League. Don't want to forget Jude Bellingham, who I think is a fantastic player.

12:56is so yeah I wasn't impressed by Conor Gallagher I thought he was pretty headless chicken pretty ineffective I understand that yeah maybe you know he doesn't have the sort of the the right players around him the right system around him if we're to be overly generous yeah okay I think I'd say that but equally you know you want a new signing a big money signing really to come in and make something of an impact. And, you know, I don't see that. The main thing about this is, right, I don't want Spurs to be signing players where we're constantly having to be like, if this situation presents itself, if that situation presents itself, then they'll be good.

13:43Because that's basically, that's pretty much what we've had for the past, what, since Pochettino went? I would say the majority of players that we've signed have always carried with them caveats. When's that going to stop? You know, when are the players that we sign just going to be who's quality? Look at that Ryan that Bournemouth have just signed. Look at him, man. It's ridiculous. Tom Foynes made a very good point on Twitter the other day saying, it's been years, years since we signed one of those. and that's what Spurs used to do. Used to uncover gems. Used to get these players in that were clearly going to be world-class.

14:30Ryan ain't going to be playing for Bournemouth in a few years, is he? I think we all know that. He's going to be off doing what he does wherever, Man City or something like that, you would assume, right? But when are we going to get those players in, you know? When's that going to happen? when are we going to stop doing these sort of opportunistic, well, you know, he's English, well, he's available. Because that's kind of what the Gallagher did. And I know I'm gunning for Gallagher a lot here, but it's not just him as an individual. It's that he is, you know, he is representative of Tottenham's overall strategy.

15:18And, yeah.

15:24it's just disappointing isn't it it's disappointing because like I say you sign a new player to make a change you don't sign a new player to say well this 40 million pounds what 250 grand a week or whatever he's on player will only be good when all these intangibles happen that's just that we can't keep doing that man that's what's led us down this path it really is there was a lot of ire for Archie Gray yesterday um I do think he was totally out of his depth I didn't like that I know again it's a sort of it was like a fluid position he plays I know Igor I know like I'm not going to sit here and say oh yeah I don't think playing on that right wing really suits him he didn't really play in that position and um james alcott and a few others have done sort of tactical breakdowns of what it is that igor tudor does and like the the fullbacks end to tend to sort of drift inside and become more like auxiliary attacking midfielders or you know it's it's a bit it's a bit beyond my pay grade all that type of stuff but i'm not going to sit here and say you know tudor can't start him out on the right because i know people say well he doesn't stay that way Tudor himself said ahead of the game that he thinks formations are the the speak of formations is folly that formations don't really exist this is something Harry Brooks said a few years ago um and lots of people probably myself included took the mick out of him about but you know I think that it is what I think the more you pay attention to it really you're like yeah there is something in that like there is a there is an element of truth to that and that stuff aside like grey wasn't particularly great um his Tottenham career has you know it's been fits and starts hasn't it you know and I think there's a very talented player in there I still hold on to that.

17:29Again, the problem is that we've signed, let's just say, an elevated, and I'm not saying he's better than them, but my point is I'm just saying an elevated academy prospect, right? And by that, I mean a very, very talented young player who had substantial minutes outside of the Premier League. So he played a hell of a lot for Leeds in the championship and established himself as a very, very good player. But still, you know, he was 18 years old, maybe 19 when we signed him. He was pretty green still. But because Spurs, again, prioritised the signings that will have additional sell-on value, fingers crossed for them.

18:19What we've done is not prioritise signing players for now. Look, this is no conversation. We all know this, but we've not prioritised signing players for now. Thus meaning we're chucking in grey way ahead of a time when we probably should be. You think about, again, look, you throw to a Manchester City, and I know the resources aren't always comparable, all that type of thing. But you throw to a Manchester City, you look at the way they handle young players for the most part. They always have a strong, functioning first 11. and then they can default back to using these young players. But we've just been playing Archie Gray because we spent tens of millions of pounds on him and we didn't have anyone else available because of injuries, because of quality, because of whatever.

19:05And so now we judge and have been judging Archie Gray as if he were, you know, a player that should be

19:17performing at the level as an established, like, a Premier League men's player should be. And I don't think it's fair. And I think it's probably led to an overall devaluation of him. It's probably led to him, you know, doubting himself, doubting his ability. I don't know. I'm not in his head. I don't know if he doubts himself or anything like that. I'm just speculating that, you know, the continued focus on him, the pressure on him, not allowing him to develop in a, yes, I'm going to use very 2026 language, a safer environment is not really ideal for a young player. And people can scoff at that.

19:58People can laugh at that and say, oh, you know, what out of bollocks. Like, you know, they should be doing that. But that's just not how it works, is it? It's not how proper good functioning teams work, is it? You know, you can't just chuck a young player in and say, ah, no, they haven't got it. They're useless. really like you know you look at look at what we've done with Mikey Moore you know we sent him up to Rangers and he's hopefully going to come back a really really good player for us especially and look you got to speak in these terms especially if we're in the championship you know he will he will eat that league and he will be very very important for us but yeah you know in reality Archie Gray should have probably we should have signed him and then probably loaned him out again Loaned him out for a few years, like we're doing with Vyscovic.

20:45But we haven't done that because we didn't have any other players and we spent too much on Archie Gray. Again, as the last conversation with Conor Gallagher, we default back to, with this one, poor transfer policy, poor footballing strategy from the club, from the hires up at the club. It all, you know, the old fish watch from the head adage is old. but still stands. It still stands. And the reason why we are in this position, the reason why we are teetering on the brink of this is because the people that run the club, there's simply no other way to look at it. That's the, we, I have sat here for years on this podcast, pretty much every single transfer window saying that was disappointing.

21:38We didn't really get the players that we need in. and you multiply that by however many windows 10 15 whatever windows of continued disappointment of continually seeing the squads four to pieces it's like it's like triggers broom but putting in worse pieces more damaged pieces every single time isn't it you know of course it's it's not gonna be any good you know if you keep replacing the broom head with a you know a head that's got less bristles and eventually you're not going to be able to do any sweeping and that's sort of where we find ourselves isn't it we find ourselves in a place now where you look at the squad and look honestly speaking I don't see any superstars and I would say yeah for the entirety of my life Spurs have always at least had one like amazing player a Klinsman, a Sheringham, a Ginola a Keane, a Berbatov, Bale, Modric you know there's always been somebody that's got that bit about them that bit about them that when the chips are down can dig spurs out of it and i don't think we've got that i think we were hoping javi siemens would be that and i i really like javi siemens i've got to say i think on a on an emotional level i think he is making a real effort to settle in at spurs there was a you know i don't know if you saw it he went and spent some time with like the academy kids the other day um

23:32it does a lot around you know he we've seen him do his like tours around the ground and all that type of stuff like you know i think he's i think he's making an effort he says the sort of right things he wants to be part of the fabric of the club and i think on the pitch he's he is talented i do think he you know he brings he brings a level of quality to the party um but again and I'm just being brutally honest here again I would be lying if I said that I felt that he couldn't be doing a bit more I don't know how well I've structured that sentence ultimately like I feel like he could there's games like yesterday where and I know this is like a basic breaking down of things but there's games like yesterday where you do just want that player that star player like we've seen in the past to grab the ball make a run and smack one in from 25 yards give the place a lift get everything rocking you know we've seen him do that for the Netherlands we saw him do it against England we saw him literally mug off Declan Rice and smack one in from the top corner and I don't know if it's just having played under Thomas Frank or something, but he does seem to play within himself a bit at Spurs, I find.

25:36R.J. freaking Decker as I live and breathe. He's a private eye. It's not a standard murder. It's someone bigger. And a public mess. Trying to get sent back to prison today? You go to prison one time and suddenly it's all the jokes. R.J. Decker, series premiere, tonight on ABC and stream on Hulu.

25:59We need a bit more from him. We do. He's one of our best players and we need a bit more from him. It feels like an unfair comparison, but I think it is a just comparison. and when you look at the amount of times a Kane or a Son dug us out of a tight spot. Adele Alli, you know, who was there yesterday and said some very lovely things, right? Rafa van der Vaart, let's just say a sort of comparable player to Xavi Siemens, you know? Think about the impact he made when he came in. And to be fair, look, that is an example of Rafa van der Vaart stepping into a team that was already very, very good. and being like the icing on the cake of a very good side.

26:48Like Xavi Siemens at the moment is supposed to be the cherry on top of a pile of manure, isn't he, really? You can only hold so much against him. But, you know, I would judge him in the same way that I said of Conor Gallagher, that when you are signing top players, they are supposed to be the difference makers. you know we're talking about situations needing to be different for them to perform well but they are supposed to be the difference makers and that's it's kind of you know it's it's a bit of a I think Xavi Seumann's in particular is a bit of a vicious cycle I do find there is this kind of there is this thing at least in my head where I'm like I do like him I do think he's really good I do think he's very talented I do think he would be better if the team were better but equally he's supposed to be making the team better.

27:42And it's a tough one. It's a tricky one. But I don't have like venomous feelings towards him. I think that's, I don't really have venomous feelings towards Connor Gallagher or anything. But what I would say is on a game like yesterday, Connor Gallagher is the player where I'm more likely to be like, he's useless and throw my hands up. And it's partly why I didn't do that. I mean, I was tired and I was just, I had, you know, we just got done 4-1 by Arsenal. I had to hump properly yesterday. And I didn't want to come on and do one of these and just be like, this one's useless, that's useless, we're getting relegated, we're, you know, because I don't know, I just don't want to do that.

28:20You know, it's not ever what I sort of set about to do when I do these things. And just, you know, whatever, personally speaking, I just don't really want to put that energy out there. I want that, you know, piss and moan on WhatsApp with your mates and stuff. It's different, isn't it? But I don't want to do that on this. but yeah uh mickey van der ven i think is a problem um i've got to say i think i think he is a problem and i know this is going to lead to one of those things where people say you know we're useless and you want to get rid of our best players number one as i've said even in times that aren't as fraught as this i don't actually think he's as good a defender as people make out that he is i think he's a supreme athlete but i think yesterday again showed up a lot of his his frailties frailties is a strong word but you know a lot of his weak spots as a defender um i think his attitude was questionable after their third goal i think you know mickey van der ven is supposed to be one of the leaders and i would say that his head was visibly down was visibly dropped um there's only so much he can say i know he's not going to sit on sky sports and say yeah the guy was useless and we're happy he's gone i just found it kind of galling seeing him i'm just saying on a personal level that's all that's all i'm reflecting on i found it kind of galling that he was sat there on sky sports lamenting um lamenting uh you know thomas frank's time being got yeah we all liked him we all thought he was a good guy man you walk past him on the pitch you know like and people can say whatever they want about footballers being emotional and this and that.

30:26It was disgraceful scenes. You know, it was disgraceful scenes from him and Spence doing that. I've never really seen players do that to a manager, that early on into their tenure or anything. You know, you just don't do that kind of thing. So, you know, all the sounds seem to suggest that Mickey van der Ven has kind of had his fill of Spurs. And sometimes, you know, you've got to cut the cord and just say, right, if we can get good money for him, goodbye. Vescovic, I know you wanted to do another season at Hamburg. You wanted to play with your brother or whatever, but sorry, you're a Spurs player.

31:00We pay your wages. We spent a lot of money on you when you were a kid because we saw promise in you. You're coming back. We need you. So, you know, I don't know. I don't even know if that's the best course of action for his long-term development or anything like that. Hark back to what I was just saying about Archie Gray.

31:23but yeah you know if it's a pochettino that comes in or whatever i don't know but if it is say pochettino i feel that pochettino comes in and immediately sits down with players like romero van der ven much like he did during his first tenure when there were plenty of senior players that clearly didn't really fancy it anymore got a handle on them found out sort of you know, where their heads are at. And if their heads aren't there, he isn't going to be afraid to let them go. And that's, ultimately, that's what we need. We need somebody that is going to be brave enough to get rid of the players that don't want to be here, even if it's painful decisions.

32:08It's going to be brave enough to incorporate youth in a smarter fashion.

32:19and is ultimately just going to be brave enough to instill in players what it is to be Tottenham, what it is to play for this club. It's funny, you know, like people make fun of him, but Sam Allardyce, that's a good way to start a sentence, isn't it? But Sam Allardyce was saying ahead of, you know, the North London derby, speaking of Tottenham's woes, if you like, Like if you can't, if you as a player cannot be up for playing for Spurs, for this huge club, for earning all the money that you earn, for training in the facilities that you train in, for playing at the stadium you play in, then you need to reflect.

33:07And I think that is true. like there are there are there are so many ills that the people who run this club have you know done during their time they are genuinely running their asset and that's how they view us as an asset but they're they're they're so poor even that now that they have run it they're running it into the ground really and they are had a very good chat with sean connell from the sponsor magazine um you can listen to it uh from from the tail end of last week just talking about tottenham's fair market value for their sponsorship opportunities if you like front shirt sleeve stadium all of that and the the overall climate the overall environment for sponsorship is down different sort of market factors and everything i'm not going to hackney this sean spells it out very very well but there are different market factors that affect that are affecting sponsorship opportunities right now.

34:07And that doesn't even take into account Tottenham's poor form, Tottenham being on the brink of relegation for, you know, the second season running.

34:21So that's one thing. But the fact that the players do just have this level of fragility about them is alarming, is concerning, and it does concern me going into this fight because, you know, there's a lot of... I think there's a lot of head-burying in sand going on. Well, you know, there's teams below us that are worse. As I've been saying for a while, are there? I'm not so sure that there are. like Forest

35:02are not doing that well but they only lost marginally to Liverpool Liverpool who aren't that great themselves this season but obviously you know we've still got to go up to Anfield and I'm sure they'll be great then can I just say another thing actually another thing that's just wound me up from this so Ezza now is one of the leading scorers in the North London derby of all time Right, I don't know if you saw that. That's come to light. There's only a few players ahead of him now in the pantheon of players that have scored in the North London derby. And that's just off of one season. The extra sort of spite and the extra sort of malice that he puts into playing against us, it's just insane.

35:44Like, it's just on a, can I just say, on just like a, ooh, it's not fair level. Just allow me this. Just indulge me this little childish-like moan. but the greatest crime that we committed against Eza was trying to sign him was trying to make him like our star player fans excited club excited about bringing him in by all accounts you know everyone sort of made out like it was Daniel Levy who was the problem it's Steve Parrish by all accounts that was actually the problem in that deal and I'm not going to sit here and defend Daniel Levy's transfer strategy, but by all accounts, Steve Parrish was the issue there.

36:25And so our biggest crime for Eza, who has had a disgusting season, a stinking season, was signed for a considerable amount of money by Arsenal and has made minimal impact there, has not settled well there at all, other than when he plays against us, when he seems to find this extra level to go to, to what hurt us further it's weird and i find it kind of spiteful i find it kind of weird i think it's it's it's kind of weird you know that's that's sort of how i feel about it that's just coming from my perspective and i find it kind of weird i think it's like a weird weird sort of a mark against the guy's character it's my opinion and that's what i that's what i stand by um Spurs fan doesn't like Arsenal fan doesn't like Arsenal fan and player playing well against Spurs that's that's a good one isn't it um

37:33the thing is like you know do you know what like doing this stuff does help like talking it all out and that's why I love doing this you know people always say oh thanks for doing these like great I'm glad you appreciate it I'm glad you enjoy it

37:48but also for me it's just it's really nice it's really nice to sort of talk this out but games like this games like the Arsenal one because you get to this plateau of like you know rationalizing pseudo intellectualizing a football match and then you sort of land back on what are we talking about Oh, yeah. Losing 4-1 to Arsenal. Losing 4-1 to Arsenal when, you know, they're on the brink of winning the league and we're on the brink of getting relegated. I mean, this is the darkest timeline, isn't it? This is the darkest timeline. Right? What did we do to deserve this? Don't you ever ask yourself that?

38:39Don't you ever just sit there and think, what did I do? Not you, I don't care about you. What did I do? What did I do to deserve this? It was just a few years ago. We had Kane, Son, Ali, Erikson, all that lot. Knocking the ball about, taking the mick out of Arsenal. Seeing Arteta's face, maybe they'll lose at Norwich. That was a good laugh, wasn't it? That was good. that helped to bury a few of the memories of growing up during the time of the the invincibles soul campbell all that type of stuff all that misery they poured onto us for all those years it was nicer a bit wasn't it it was nice for a while harry kane scoring every single harry kane the arsenal academy product that they didn't want coming back to bite them what a narrative what scenes ripping the mask off all that sort of thing quality that was well good that bit wasn't it and now suddenly it's not just it's not just okay right well Spurs you know you're not you're not going to be sort of Champions League most seasons top six most seasons right it can't just be oh you know you're gonna you're gonna fall into like a back into being like an eighth eighth place club and Arsenal are going to be back getting into the Champions League all the time right no it's not going to be that is it it's going to be literally you are going to get relegated and they are going to win the quadruple and you just have to lump it you just have to lump it like you did lasagna like you did sol campbell like you did them winning the league at white heart lane like how how much more can they do to us you know honestly

40:32I mean maybe they'll sign Harry Kane in summer he hasn't signed that new Bayern Munich contract yet has he maybe they'll do that Jokeres even though we made him look like Drogba yesterday you know he uh he hasn't been that good has he maybe they'll get Harry Kane maybe they'll compound it with that we'll be in the championship and we'll be watching Harry Kane scoring for Arsenal imagine the videos imagine the narratives that they I don't even, why am I doing this? Why am I doing this to myself? Why am I doing this to you? It's bad enough. It's bad enough without imagining more horrors, isn't it?

41:08Right? Look at this. Can you imagine, can you imagine if in 1617, when you see Pochettino standing there crying, the whole, you know, the whole stadium alive for the last time. And we're there thinking we are on the verge. We're about to move into this big spaceship stadium. we got one of the best squads in the country one of the best young squads right from here the only way is up imagine imagine telling people at that point when the whole you know we've just beaten them in the last north london derby at the old ground oh stadium's rocking north london is ours north london is ours all that imagine telling imagine telling that version of yourself then what this would be like now five six years down the line right and like i say i'm not just saying like spurs hit a bit of a hump we're literally talking about the club imploding like if we go down there's so i'm seeing it now and i get it i know people want to make themselves feel better because it's becoming more of a reality but this actually it'll be maybe chin stroking maybe my thinking cap on maybe it'll actually be good if spurs go down what are you on about what are you going on about in the long run maybe no it won't there's nothing good about tottenham going down and i'm not gonna i'm not gonna hear it i'm not gonna stand for it yeah oh the positives are we might play some of our young players we can do that anyway if you get a proper manager in if you get a proper footballing philosophy you can do that anyway look at look at O 'Reilly at Manchester City he looks unbelievable already some academy player it can be done we don't have to get relegated to see positive like to bring young players through if we get relegated you know maybe it'll force them to sell up who's buying a championship club for three billion pounds who's buying a championship club for a billion pounds they ain't selling up if we go down what are you talking about it pushes even further from them selling up if we get relegated there is nothing good to Tottenham getting relegated what happens if Spurs get relegated is we're on a closer path to ending up some like team like Coventry that doesn't even own its own stadium because we built this white elephant that ain't going to sell out when we're in the championship that's going to be more known for taylor swift and the you know the the you know the detroit dog sticks coming to play nfl there or whatever do you know what i mean like we that's what the stadium is going to be known for it's not going to be known for the home of championship tottenham hotspur we're probably not going to be able to afford to do it probably we gonna have to do measures like shutting off top tier of the stadium and stuff on a match day like it's it's bobbins getting relegated is bobbins it's absolutely it's absolutely not an option for this football club it isn't don't bright side it and i it's not it's terrible it's abysmal it's the worst thing that could happen added to the fact it's good it could happen the year they win the league come on man like no sorry that's my one rant um a few questions in obviously i've been doing this quite early so we'll see um it's a weird amount of arsenal fans in there as well um at this time in the morning fine they're gonna go look i'm not look you know they're gonna gloat and they have every right to you know that's the thing you can't get too angry at them because come on man can you imagine imagine if it was the other way around imagine if we were sat here on the verge of winning a league and they were gonna get relegated come on you know um wilson t says morning hello wilson um bilagi says watching from the office time to cry at my desk zeros and one says looking forward to playing arsenal b this weekend who i heard who do we what's our next game is it oh is it fulham isn't it yeah we got full oh god it's fulham isn't let me just double check yep yep fulham great awesome another yeah good one with no narrative whatsoever thanks for that ali yeah i know that one when you want your spring break to feel like and your kids pool day to feel like and your hotel bed to feel like oh and room service to feel like because at hilton hospitality feels like your cabana's ready Would you like fresh towels?

47:29Darren 223 says, it's looking peak with lots of Ks. I'm guessing that's some young people speak. I do have to remind you, Darren, I am 40 years old. Did you see? I'm not digging him out. I love Ben. I think he's a great guy. But Ben Bowman tweeted ahead of the Arsenal game. Where is it? He tweeted, Jim Skin just sent the maddest aura pulse to N17, which, yeah, was a head scratcher for me and many other dusty millennials. Quite funny though, wasn't it? Jack Underhill says, that was no different um i guess this must have been in relation to something i was talking about at the time ali also says apparently that was the worst home loss against arsenal since 1978 i want to say as well and i don't think this is just premier league history i want to say now that's the first time in history they've beaten us five times in a row which again you know when you reflect on the invincible era all that type of thing and my point I was making earlier about even you know older iterations of Spurs managing to put up something of a fight that's quite something isn't it that is quite something for the first time in history yeah they've they've beaten us five times in a row and right now you would probably see them extending that run wouldn't you ricochet pig says disgusting hope he doesn't just mean my puffy morning face and bed hair jonas milner says watching from inside the stadium yesterday made me realize the club doesn't have an appetite for a relegation fight the fans do but the squad and the infrastructure doesn't meek um i sort of know what you mean like the the the infrastructure of The stadium is set up to host big Champions League nights, isn't it?

49:34It's not set up to be gritty, to be nasty, to be intimidating. Those U2, you know, the U2 reverberations. It's great when you're top of the world and everyone's singing, you know, when the Spurs and it's ringing around the ground. You know, we all heard that against Bodo Glimt. Great, perfect, showpiece fixture like that. if you want something nasty, you would need to get stuck in. I agree with you. It doesn't have that. And the players, I'm starting to worry, really maybe don't, but I agree with you. The fans do. And the fans were there. The fans were there in full voice yesterday. So this is, this is why I get touchy about it.

50:17This is why I get touchy about it. I got touchy revenge for doing it. And yet people don't like me digging out Ange, but you know, I got touchy revenge for digging out the fans. And he did. You can forget that all you want to, if you want to gloss over, Ange Postacoglu in his tenure, but Ange threw the fans under the bus plenty of times. Thomas Frank couldn't, couldn't, Thomas Frank loved, Thomas Frank threw the Tottenham fans under the bus more often than he did opposition players, opposition fans. He couldn't, he couldn't help himself from lavishing praise on the opposition. but there's nothing Thomas Frank liked doing more than blaming the Spurs fans there's nothing more that you know who is it one of them did it a Carragher or a Neville or somebody said something about the Spurs fans lately about them being entitled about this Alison Rudd in her latest article spoke about the entitled Tottenham fans all that sort of thing you know it's nonsense it's nonsense it's not entitlement it's fans that love their club I don't I don't sit here and see Spurs fans saying we should be winning the league we dream about winning the league we dream about winning the Champions League could we?

51:32all that type of thing but it's a fundamental lack of understanding when people take that the could we stuff it's a fundamental lack of understanding as to the Tottenham Hotspur fan base's psyche yes we're perennial dreamers and all that type of thing right? we are but at the same time I would say when I talk to the majority of my fans, my friends who are Spurs fans, and just anecdotally, all that we want is a team that actually gives some, that plays on the front foot, that fights for every ball, fights for every second ball, which is something this lot don't do. That's what me and Phil kept watching yesterday.

52:14They don't, they do not fight for the second ball at all. It's shocking, it's shocking, that lack of fight and spirit in this lot.

52:28But that's what we want to see. We want to see a team that just, you know, tries to at least pretend to hold some of the values that we put out in the nice promo videos and everything that we put out before these sort of games, right? You know?

52:47It's just depressing, isn't it, man? daniella stewart says has mickey van der ven checked out um and wants out due to the club putting a big transfer fee on him relegation would be a cheap way to get the guy out of the club um i i reckon he i reckon yeah mickey van der ven definitely wants out um i think we all know that don't we there was another one another one of the itk accounts i don't know how much you can believe them all or stuff but we're saying that he apparently had a wobbly after the game and outlined in no uncertain terms that he doesn't want to be here i probably shouldn't even bring that stuff into you because it's probably just fan fiction isn't it um

53:36oh i think daniella stewart is a is an arsenal fan actually because she said your second your second goal should have stood but all teams use the dark arts so deal with it yeah i yeah also do use the dark arts and yeah i do think we can deal with it but that's not just that's not just like deal with it dark arts that's again that's poor officiating you know i don't think that's on spurs fans to deal with it you know you if you are an arsenal fan arsenal complain a lot about about poor officiating and i think i don't think that's a club that's a rivalry aside clap clap clap big of you mate but that's that's a that's a football wide issue that's something that we all as fans should not and i i do always feel this type of thing you know when certain fans when it when a when a shocking decision goes even your way and you see opposition fans complain about it all right don't don't jump on with them you're not going to say yeah actually that shouldn't have stood, but just maybe just be quiet about it.

54:38That's sort of my feeling on it. And that's kind of how I sort of feel when it happens with Spurs. But really it is one of those things where fans should be united and expect better officiating. We have VAR in here, which is piece by piece dismantling the game that we love. And it's not even serving the purpose it was brought in to do. I mean, look, this leads people to talk about corruption and all that type of thing. I'm not going to say anything to that effect on here. I'm not going to speculate about that. This isn't that type of channel. I don't have, this is Tottenham memorabilia behind me.

55:11It's not a map of conspiracy, you know, things pointing to one another with pieces of red string, right? It's, yeah, I don't know.

55:26Jonathan, again, I'm assuming another Arsenal fan says, say hello to Millwall. yeah you know that'll be fiery Millwall might come up to be fair so you know

55:41Butterflies and Zebras said the referee's decisions cost us in decisive moments we needed luck to get anything out of the game but the ref ruined it for us I agree and I disagree Butterflies and Zebras I think we kind of ruined it for ourselves as well you definitely need luck in games like that you definitely need things to go your way so I agree with you in that and look we can only speculate what would have happened if that second goal had stood but it didn't and regardless Arsenal were just so much better than us Echo Sonic Music says gaping holes in our DM space is a huge worry we just don't have the players with enough nous to play there yeah Joey August THFC says I'm starting to think I'm going to be checked out until the club is sold there is no hope

56:38there's always hope mate that's you know to get whiffy and sentimental about it there's always hope see hope that kills you but there is always hope but it is getting harder and I'm not going to pretend I'm not with you on that because it is getting harder and harder. It's getting way harder to believe, isn't it? Like you say, especially with this ownership, it's getting way harder to believe that they are ever going to be serious. It's getting way harder to believe that they don't just bring in Pochettino in the summer and hope that we're all happy and smiley about that. He's magic, you know, but again, he doesn't get the players to dig us out of this.

57:23he doesn't get the backing that he needs same old story isn't it

57:31Antonio Sanessa says we are one of the three worst teams in the league and have been for some weeks now players need to come back very quickly and hit the ground running who is coming back though mate honestly who like I think Kulisevsky is who was it that was telling me yesterday was Bjorn so I lad called Bjorn who I've chatted to for a while just you know on the internet as you do as you do nowadays um on Blue Sky Bjorn so he's Swedish so he's half Swedish half Scottish dude lives here um lives in N17 I believe and he actually did um I'm sorry Bjorn I can't remember He did an excellent TikTok series reviewing the pubs around N17.

58:24I would say for anybody that is coming to visit a game, I'll try and find it. I'll try and find it again. I'll ask him what his channel is, what his account is, and I'll big it up next time I'm on here. But yeah, he did this excellent series, but he was saying that, and he's like, he mad loves Kulisevsky. he was saying that apparently Kulisevsky's knee injury is like something that is like baffling medical institutions that it's some pretty unique rare type of knee injury for a professional athlete to have so in short it ain't looking good that's a worry because that's one of our best players whatever you want to say about him that's one of our best players that's when we talk about players who have a bit of nous talk about players who have a bit of fight that's one of our players that's one of the guys that i've seen with my own eyes drag tottenham across the line drag performances out of us not stop running till the very end of games not give up and has the quality to impact games i don't understand why Kulishevsky tends to be quite a divisive player because he's just exceptional.

59:45He's a really, really talented player. But yeah, hopefully we'll get him back one day. James Madison's been pictured in training. I mean, are we going to rush him back? Maybe we're going to have to. Maybe our league survival depends on that. But as far as I was aware, he was out for the season. Richarlison did he I can't even remember if he came on yesterday or not I think he did come yeah he did come on didn't he yeah he did come on he came on for did he come on for Gallagher I think he did I don't know

1:00:27he's probably been rushed back but we need him he's a scrapper

1:00:34I don't know this is miserable isn't it

1:00:40um preston fn12 says wanted you guys to win yesterday i'm a united fan i can't stand arsenal i hope you stay up but it doesn't look good i mean that's that's the worrying thing isn't it you often hope and i find that like so you know preston fn12 here isn't coming to like gloat he's not coming here to be a a rival fan that's taking the mick out of us and kicking us while we're down and I often find those sort of fans my mate Scott Saunders who does a lot of United stuff

1:01:16he was watching it yesterday hoping that we would win and then by the end of it was sort of reflecting on Spurs might actually go Spurs might actually be bad enough and it's when he started hearing those voices the rational voices from outside the club that you're hoping will be like you're just getting worried and emotional because you're a Spurs fan but genuinely you'll be fine when you start hearing those voices in the middle that are from outside the club as well saying oh actually you look like you're one of the worst teams in the league to be fair you know it would it would have been nice wouldn't it it would have been nice if Johan Langer had a notice that a guy paid probably maybe not millions but at least hundreds of thousands like Like, Jan Lange will probably be earning, what, similar to a top lawyer or something like that, probably.

1:02:10Hundreds of thousands as a flat salary, probably a million pound bonus if Spurs do certain things really well or something. Maybe, you know, maybe it's around that sort of amount. Either way, he's handsomely paid to know about football, to be a steward of the club's footballing fortunes. And yet man on the street can see us nosediving towards relegation. And he sat there saying, oh, I don't want to panic buy. I don't want to make any panic buys. When do you panic? When is the time to panic, Johan? Honestly, when is the time to panic? We can chuck Vinay Van Katesham into those discussions as well.

1:02:54There's a video doing the rounds that is aged horrifically. I don't know if you've seen it. It's him doing one of his. It's when he was like Arsenal's whatever he was. And it's him doing one of the media pieces after a transfer window, talking about Arsenal having had a magnificent window because they'd signed like Socrates, Guendouzi. And he listed like in the pantheon of like awful Arsenal players. You know, those players at Arsenal were signing when we were taking the mick out of them, being like, look at that player. look at this one, look at that one. He listed all those, like, basically the worst of the players.

1:03:36And you're suddenly like, oh, hang on. There's a correlation here, isn't there? Him going from there and them getting good and then him coming here and us getting bad. See also Johan Langer, sacked from Aston Villa. They suddenly get really good and start signing really good players again, don't they? You know? Dear, oh, dear, oh, dear.

1:04:04Dave Bowman says, will Igor start some kids after that performance? Who knows? You'll have to ask him, mate. Mr. Stephen Stotch says, these aren't a bad group of players, yet their attitudes are League Two level. Van de Ven isn't a good defender. I'm sorry, but his pace covers up his bad points. Agree. I don't think... It's hard to say, like, he isn't a good... I think he probably is a good defender, Stephen. I think personally, I think he is a good defender. I just think he's not like an exceptional defender. I mean, that's sort of my point on Van der Ven. But I do still agree that I think his athleticism gets him out of trouble a lot.

1:04:49Yep. Ezra is, so welcome in peace. It says, Ezra is one goal behind Ian Wright's six goals in North London derbies. There you go. um jonathan's also said ezra is an odd bloke in general um steve jp says ezra is only four goals behind harry kane after two games it's nuts yeah probably won't have a chance to add to it next year mind you yeah um i'm just putting daniella stewart in a timeout she's spamming the messages now she started off quite friendly like from an arsenal perspective and then it's just now just drilling into you know her enjoying it which you know it's fine you know it's all right um jesus chris tucker says we have a better team we have a better team than that late 90s when we avoided relegation.

1:05:50Yeah, but we don't have Jurgen Klinsmann, mate. And we had Jurgen Klinsmann then. I don't... Relatively speaking... Relatively speaking, I don't know if the... I don't know if we do have a better team now. Being real with you, I don't know if we do.

1:06:18let's have a look so zachary oh my god zachary gerrard says the last time we scored at craven cottage was harry kane then before that it was an own goal great steven soch says well jack at least langer came up and took responsibility um sorry but sar and gallagher were poor for me yesterday we don't have any players who are actually good on the ball sar wasn't particularly great. What I did see from Sado was a bit of attitude, was a bit of fight. He was shouting at his teammates. He was sort of stepping up a bit. What we sort of said has been missing from him for his time. Josh Cougar says, a point away to Fulham is improvement.

1:07:02If we can't be Palace at home, then we're done for. This is what Phil was saying yesterday as well. The big yardstick, the biggest yardstick is that Palace at home game. I agree we have to get a point at Fulham we have to I mean they just did Sunderland away though they're in good form themselves they're playing well but yeah that Palace game at home is it's looking pretty meaty in it man

1:07:36Welcome in Peace it says I was saying to a mate last night that if we did a Liverpool Paul and sign two players at fixtures for example Wharton and Anderson we would um but now we can't these are Palace and Forest players that we now can't get I know what you I do know what you mean but being real being real both of those players like each is at least a hundred million pounds you're gonna have to pay 200 million pounds for those two I honestly don't think there are I don't think there's any club that could do that really. I get what you, I know what you're saying in like, in a theoretical sense, but I do just think in reality we couldn't, but yeah, your point stands in that gone are the, gone is the time of us being able to cherry pick the best talents from across the league.

1:08:35And even when we were in the time that we could do that, we didn't really do that. Did we? Um, you know, we've, we've, what we've always defaulted to doing is cherry picking the best of the rest that the very best wouldn't go for. And I say this with all due respect, but again, Connor Gallagher. James Madison before I know people don't like that but you know Richarlison Solanke these are good players they are you know they are great players but they're also the players that Liverpool City so on and so forth have sort of taken a look at and thought nah not for us and when you're sort of signing players that really aren't good enough for that level you can't really expect yourself to compete at that level and that's it isn't it um alan leslie says sad to say but as soon as the fourth goal went in i got up and left that game destroyed me uh yeah i mean it's it's uh yeah it's miserable mate i you know it's horrible horrible game dark day miserable Ryan Andrews says very bleak stuff but I did see enough fight and intent until Mwani's disallowed goal to suggest we've got enough for three wins I'm glad you did mate and Gary Potts says you pommies sacked Ange you brought it upon yourselves and he wrote yourselves in caps lock alright Ange I hope you're having fun on your burner account mate nice one right that's enough for one day that's tempered that the end of that one

1:10:32you know miserable game miserable day very tough to put a positive spin on that but you know we have to try don't we Fulham away next wow who would have thought a few years ago you'd be looking at Fulham away with dread thinking we have to get something there but here we are um appreciate everybody for tuning in if you're watching now please drop it a like um also subscribe to the channel that would be very much appreciated the youtube channel has really grown this season so thank you very much to everybody that has subscribed in this time i'm glad you are enjoying the content i hope to look as the platform gets bigger maybe i can do more stuff that isn't just kind of these streams and things but i am you know trying to bring a bit more to it here and there when i can um and obviously to everybody that has listened and has listened down the years thank you very much i do appreciate it i appreciate you sticking with me even throughout these dark times there hasn't been you know there's been often been a sort of a fall off in numbers and stuff when the you know when the team aren't doing so well but that's been probably the opposite this year so I hope that you are you know finding something in this finding something that you enjoy I try my best and I genuinely do try my best not to be too reactionary not to be too kind of shout and scream and rant and it's not to say that I don't get emotional or anything from time to time I do I know I know I do obviously but that's what football is but anyway long story short you know I don't need to do this whiffy speech do I but it's early in the morning and I'm feeling emotional after Tottenham getting done by Arsenal I just appreciate it so thank you there's also a Patreon if you want ad free pods patreon.com slash RTR pods like, subscribe leave ratings, leave reviews it's all very helpful but yeah come on you Spurs up the Spurs that's all we can do

A bit later than usual, I try my best to break down what exactly went wrong yesterday... what bits did we get right? My fears for Spurs going forwards and just a general sense of trying to get my emotions in check after what was a miserable, miserable defeat. Just when you think the pain that club dishes out on us has maybe stopped, it always seems to find a way to make itself known.
