In short

Reaction to Sunderland 1-0 Tottenham, with the host concluding Spurs are the worst Premier League team and headed for relegation. The episode also criticizes officiating and Sky Sports coverage, argues Tottenham lack cohesion/quality and have no “standout player” anymore, and attacks ENIC/Daniel Levy for underinvestment despite charging top-tier ticket prices. It discusses how relegation would reshape the club’s future, likely requiring a major squad purge and years to rebuild, and rejects the idea that “we’ll just have fun in the Championship.”

Guest backgrounds

No guests are interviewed in the transcript. Mentions include “Tom Foynes” (friend of the show) and “Flav” (another pod host), but they do not appear as guests.

Key claims

Spurs are 18th with relegation effectively inevitable; players can’t execute basics (passing, reading games, running into space); managers can’t fix it overnight; owners are to blame.

Notable examples

Romero/Kinski incident and penalty overturned; repeated season-long “no cohesion/no spirit”; specific player criticisms (Xavi Simons, Connor Gallagher, Richarlison, Solanke, Colomuani, Van de Ven, Archie Gray).

0:37What do you say to that, Rumi? It's not a battle. So glad the Saja Boys could take breakfast and give our meal the rest of the day. It is an honor to share. No, it's our honor. It is our larger honor. No, really. Stop. You can really feel the respect in this battle. Pick a meal to pick a side. Ba-da-ba-ba-ba. And participate in McDonald's while supplies last. 1:21Try Quaker Protein Instant Oatmeal, Granola, and Bars. Great taste and a good source of protein. Quaker, bring out the good.

1:36Well, that's it. I can't sugarcoat it. We're done. I can't see anything else. I can't see any other outcome than Tottenham getting relegated this season. It's been manager after manager, and they in part have let us down. I'm not letting Thomas Frank off the hook. I'm not saying Igor Tudor did his job perfectly.

2:16But these players are not good enough. there has to come a point there has to come a point when we can just hold our hands up and say right, maybe they could be trying harder maybe we can question their ability to deal with adversity maybe we can question their fight or whatever and maybe we also just have to take a step back and say none of them are actually very good

2:50and I've been kind of working up to this point but I'm just finally there now I'm finally there look Roberto De Zerbi wasn't going to be able to come in and work wonders overnight right it wasn't going to be some sort of magic spell he was going to cast it was going to suddenly have the team playing like you know Prime Man United back in the day or something like that but

3:19we're just bad. We're just a bad team. We're the worst team in the Premier League. Us and Burnley. It's between us and Burnley. We're the worst team in the Premier League. And we're going to get relegated.

3:35And I've tried to be as positive as I can for most of this season. and I've tried to look at the kind of bright side or try and imagine a world in which a few things can fall into place for Tottenham. And I do want to moan about the officiating today. I definitely want to moan about the officiating today. I definitely want to moan about Sky Sports and the way they covered the game today. Those things are going to factor into this, into what I have to say here. However, I can't lead with that. I can't in good faith talk about that up front and say, oh, the reason why we are now 18th in the Premier League, 18th in the league, with some distance now, is because of Sky, is because of this conspiracy theory that, you know, the league is out to get us or whatever, which I do kind of believe.

4:36I do, like, you know, I'm not going to pretend that I don't. I do kind of believe that but we're a bad team with loads of really bad players that don't care and regardless of how much I care I'm not in their minds I don't know I don't know I don't know how much any of them care or don't care so let me revise it we're a bad team we're a bad team with bad players we comfort ourselves and we get into arguments with one another about who should play where you're deluded because you think this player's good or bad you're an idiot because you think this player's good or bad you're an idiot because you think the team should play in this way no you're an idiot because they should play in that way we've seen pretty much nearly every single way in which this team can play you jumble out you know you jumble about a few different kind of players put them here and there it's the same outcome it's the same outcome players that just can't do fundamental things well can't find each other with passes the amount of overhit nothing crosses today from various different players pathetic the amount of players who just don't seem to be able to read a game of football don't seem to be able to run into space cause problems for opposition teams pathetic something we've seen all season no cohesion no spirit and just so little such little quality man for man such little quality

6:23i tweeted just before i started doing this we've always had we've always had a Sheridan, a Klinsman, Ginilla, Berbatov. Even a player like Crouch, Robbie Keane, Harry Kane, Son Hyun Min, Dele Alli. Player after player after player, good players. Always a star player. Always somebody there that even at our lowest ebb could stand up and do something. That's always been Tottenham. That's the thing and I've used this example for years. One of my oldest mates, Jay, who's a West Ham fan, I remember he always said to me back in the day, the thing I hate about Tottenham is that as crap as you are, you've always got one standout player.

7:11You've always got one player that can make the difference. And we always have done. Now we've got nothing. We've got nothing. Nothing. Nobody's coming to save this team. nobody is capable of saving this team on that football pitch and i'm sorry i'm doing this i'm sorry i'm being a doomer i know people don't like it i know people don't like this ranting negative whatever stuff but sometimes you know i just i have to do it because so what what do you want from me i'm just a bloke that does a podcast every now and again like don't pin your expectations the way you want to process football onto me.

7:55I know I'm arguing with a straw man now, but I can already hear some of the comments I'm going to get back off the back of this. You know, I have my own agency. I have my own opinions. I have my own ideas on things. And sometimes I'm in a bad mood like today, watching that, watching that same performance week after week after week after week. And I'm sick of trying to push to the back of my mind the feeling that I've had for the majority of the season that we are actually terrible and we're going to get relegated try to pretend like that's just some ridiculous feeling don't be so silly about it we're going down get used to the idea pray pray to anything that you pray to or anyone that you pray to that arsenal somehow fail to win anything because that's the only glimmer of hope for us this season.

8:50That's it. We lost 3-0 at home to Nottingham Forest, who are awful. Sunderland are abysmal. Sunderland are a bad football team. They comfortably dealt with us today. Comfortably. We did nothing. Nothing.

9:17offered nothing didn't threaten them nothing and that's what it's been all season anybody hints at this they get called negative or stupid or whatever but here we are in 18th place that doesn't happen by accident we're 17th last year we're 18th this year and maybe getting worse

9:45Wolves look alright. We don't. We're not going to win another game of football this season.

9:54I'd actually be relatively surprised if we didn't lose every single game of football we've got left this season.

10:09And really

10:14what are we supposed to say to that? what's anyone supposed to say to that? I've rented about the board on here I've rented about Enoch oh sorry I'll do it again I don't care just an absolute dereliction of duty and it is a duty I don't care that Tyson Fury fights in our stadium I don't care that Bad Bunny's coming to perform here or Beyonce is or Hootie and the Bottle Men or whatever they're called fool you da fool you da I don't care about any of that

10:58the hubris the arrogance to charge people fans of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club the second highest price just just sometimes sometimes like we know something we take something as a given fact right sometimes you just have to step back and really just like process it you know not just accept something really actually think about it right the fact we're charged the second highest amount in the entire country to watch this football team while year after year after year they don't properly invest in the thing that people are paying all this money for year after year after year the same crap gets leaked to the press we're gonna spend a blah blah this summer we're gonna buy this player this summer we tried to buy that player last summer did we no we never do it's been over a decade of that that same old thing time after time after time get an amazing player burn them out sell them lose them do we replace them no

And sooner or later, this was going to catch up on us and it's caught up on us. This is it. This is the bad place. This is the thing that myself and plenty of other people have been speaking about with varying degrees of anger and animosity towards other people that don't want to accept it.

13:45Tom Foynes, friend of the show, who I often get on here. He's somebody that I feel I'm usually on an even keel with in terms of head wobblage, right? And me and him will often have a rant on Twitter about a transfer window or something like that. and it will be usually there's there's a certain type of reply guy that i always get that essentially likes to do that you think that was a bad window i hope to be as stupid as you type thing this is for all of those guys and tom you know you know exactly the types i'm talking about you know exactly the types i'm talking about because you've been getting them in your mentions for years as i have because we always bitch about them on whatsapp we always bitch about them on whatsapp but we get them year after year and this is where we end up i didn't even think it would ever be this bad you've called relegation for years my friend i didn't think it would ever get this bad i thought what was the new bad for spurs would be oh damn we finished 12th we're gonna be in the championship and again there's this also there's this other fallacy that oh yeah we're just gonna rock up and have a laugh in the championship yeah good luck good luck thinking that way man good luck with what squad of players what squad of players is built for championship football we can't even handle a relegation battle we've got no players that can handle this scrabbling about in the mud fighting tooth and claw for every single ball every second ball let's give it some new manager in oh yeah we'll all go and tell our agents how great this new gaffer is oh we all loved it best training session we've had in years why don't any of you show it why don't a single one of you show that bit of fight i know i'm sort of going i'm not really going against my point because this thing this can make a difference even if you've got crack players they have a bit of fight they have a bit of something about them that can make the difference we don't even have that we've got a team that's built to do quite well in the champions league as we showed this summer and people can laugh at that people can scoff at that but that's what we've built we've built a squad with players like shabby siemens that wants to be in the shop window for the showpiece games but he'll sit there with a face like a slapped arse for the rest of the time.

16:18How many managers is that now? Even the gaffer that bought him, Thomas Frank, hasn't fancied Xavi Siemens. You know what? I'm going to start singling players out. Don't care. You know? They're sportsmen. They can get over it. They're in the public eye. I'm not abusing them. I'm being critical of them as professionals. So before I start getting that back at me,

16:44How many managers haven't found to see Xavi Siemens? Yeah. How effective was he when he came on? Yeah, great. Is that one of our record signings? Great, yeah, well done, wonderful. Brilliant, Spurs. Connor Gallagher. Connor Gallagher, what is it? 45, 50 mil, however much around that ballpark we spent on him in January. Glad we did that. Glad we did that. What's he done at all since he's come to Spurs? I called him English Hojbjerg and I didn't want him anywhere near the team Hojbjerg. This geezer's not even as good as Hojbjerg. That's an insult to Hojbjerg, who I actively detested as a footballer.

17:30But still, 45 mil, jobs for the boys. He's a good lad, he gets on with matters off the pitch, doesn't he? He wants to play for England this World Cup. Do me a favour. Do me a favour.

17:49he'll have to be calling up doing the citizenship test seeing if he can get his Irish passport from Ancestry don't think they'd even have him to be honest

18:02he's

18:06no no no we don't want Ackley Oosh we don't want a talented competent creative attacking player no no no we don't want that we don't want that we don't want to panic let's sign another clogging midfielder to do what

18:36every single thing we've criticized the board about the people running the club the players, the managers every single thing that we as a fan base have pretty consistently and like I say people still disagree in places but I think for the most part most Spurs fans I've noticed are in a place now of agreement where we all just know that we're pretty useless and nothing's gonna Nothing's going to come from it. And it's just that dawning grim realization that this isn't just fantasy. This isn't just doomerism. We're bad and we're getting relegated.

19:34And who knows what that means for the future? What does that mean for Spurs? Flav has just done a pod, the lab, addressing some of the financial sort of rumours and things that have been flying about what it will mean for Spurs to get relegated. I recommend you listen to it. It helps, you know, at least shave off a bit of the anxiety, the existential anxiety around Tottenham as a financial,

20:10not even as a financial being just we're not going to go out of business we're not going to collapse in that way but for me and as i speak i won't say who it was in case they don't want me to but another friend of the show who i was talking to this week we were just basically saying if spurs go down though the problem is it's not we go down and we have a laugh or mikey moore comes back and we'll have a laugh there that'll be good and he's going to dominate the championship and tell's going to dominate the championship and all this sort of thing right

20:45if spurs go down that's it

20:52existentially we've finished as a top club we've finished as a top club

21:03do you see honestly as much you know we take the mick out of them all the time do you see Villa as a top club I don't do you see Newcastle as a top club I don't I see them as an also ran an also ran that's been relegated because they're just quite simply not that good anymore and that's what we are now and that's what we're going to be so this kind of dynasty that we were hoping to build with this stadium and all this you know brand activity that the club does it's quite fitting really that that should be the you know that that should all implode upon enic it just means that us the fan base have to bear the brunt of that.

21:55And

21:59you know?

22:05What are we supposed to say? What are we supposed to say as fans? What are we supposed to do?

22:17I don't really know anymore. I don't really know what there is left to say about it is really painful. It's really horrible. I don't enjoy this. I don't enjoy the chaos of it. I thought I might. I'm not willing to do the whole bright side. Maybe we'll have fun in the championship thing. I just don't feel that way. I don't feel that way. I don't want to see Spurs in the championship. I don't want to see if we can fight our way back up or whatever.

22:58it's going to take years it's going to take absolutely years for this team to

23:06sort itself out and to come back from this the playing staff the turnover required is mental I'm sure we'll have something of a purge in summer I'm sure Van Der Ven will get his move I'm sure Xavi Siemens will leave I'm sure Kudus will go that's the one we've heard this week that he's instructed his agent to find a move and all that type of thing alright see you later you know whoever whoever wants to go let them go but the idea that we can just rebuild it overnight and we can have fun in the championship and come back up to the Premier League and be quality nah man nah not for me not for me not with these owners they've got to sell up they've got to sell up they've got to go because this is it it's done now and it's not nothing to do I don't want to hear like Rosa said on the pod this week this is Daniel Levy's legacy don't give us don't give us the stuff that Daniel Levy wouldn't have allowed this to happen justice for Levy Levy's vindicated no he's not this is him this is him this is his legacy he's as much to blame for this as any of them at Enoch are Vinay Venkateshams the you know the boogeyman the ghoul like figure for us now that we're all going after and Johan Langer nothing these are minnows compared to Daniel Levy great he built us a stadium and he established us as a so-called top club.

24:49It's always been a facade. We've never operated like a top club. And we've heard it for years. I've literally on this podcast been having conversations for a decade plus. Plenty of journos and whatever I've had on there who I can speak to off the record about stuff that goes on at Spurs and the amount of them have said for years for years spurs are not respected behind the scenes because spurs just don't act like a big club they are like two bob little agitators that come to the top table in the premier league you know you know you know there's an old saying right you know the old saying when act like you're supposed to be here and we've all done it right we've we've all done it at some point along the line right you get dressed up in like all your best clothes or whatever everyone's got a few quid in their pockets and you and your mates will go to somewhere that's a bit nicer than you then you would normally go right had an example an example of this is when I went to Vegas one of my stag do's a while back yeah tacky whatever but still a few years back we pretended like we were fucking somebody for an evening right do you know what I mean slap a bit of money down and whatever but you you pretend like you're supposed to be there suppose don't do that we never have done we always look for a way to to get around stuff or agitate or be a thorn in the side of the teams that are you know above us in the in the in the pecking order and even the teams below us in the pecking order why do you think chairman like parish hate us why do you think chairman like maranakis hate us because we just don't act like a proper big club we want their players then just go about it the right way go and try and sign the player get him bring him in shut up stop all this protracted nonsense trying to unsettle players low ball other chairman all this nonsense why do we think everyone hates us you know without surprised

27:18you tell yourself no one wants your college era band tees but on depop people are searching for exactly what you've got. You once paid a small fortune for them at merch stands. Now, a teenager who calls them vintage will offer that same small fortune back. Sell them easily on Depop. Just snap a few photos and we'll take care of the rest. Who knew your questionable music taste would be a money-making machine? Your style can make you cash. Start selling on Depop, where taste recognizes taste. You don't wash your jersey during a win streak. You don't switch seats when your team's up big. And you definitely don't shave during the playoffs.

27:58When things are working, you don't change them. That's why when you drink Jägermeister, you drink it ice cold. Anything else? Well, that'd just be bad luck. Drink it cold or don't drink it at all. Jägermeister. Damn, that's cold. Drink responsibly. Jägermeister liqueur, 35 % alcohol by volume. Imported by Masked Jägermeister, U.S. White Plains, New York.

28:22in a classroom of sodas most stay quiet then there's mr pib sweet cherry bold outburst the kind of flavor that gets attention bold kick of cherry hey mr pib referee today was a disgrace referee was an absolute shocking disgrace so bad it feels corrupt feels it notice i'm saying feels it i'm not saying that it is but so bad that it feels corrupt terrible the amount of decisions that sunderland were getting that we weren't ridiculous talking in the opening minutes their defender scything down color moani high boot he got the ball said the sky sports commentators yeah great he also had his foot off the ground and took him in took him out at knee height tap the sign say the line bar if romero had done that brian brobby elbows poro in the face yellow card nothing to see here move along again imagine imagine what we'd be seeing if that was Christian Romero imagine the narrative

29:57the push the push on Romero into Kinski dangerous dangerous dirty not looked at the penalty that was given then taken away 50 50 but of course when it's a 50 50 yeah the whole well it looked like he was going down before he took him out but you're making you're you're making the assumption that he would have gone down it looked like he was going down but still you're making the assumption he was going down however if we deal with facts the fact is that Oninian or whatever he's called, O9 slides in, takes Calamwani out.

30:41It's not

30:46all season long it's that stuff. We have to sit there and listen to Sky Sports justify every single thing that's happened. We have to sit there and listen to Sky Sports

31:00just act like it's all normal

31:11but whatever they've got their story Spurs are getting relegated huge they had Leicester and now they've got Spurs the two big things to happen in the Premier League great, wonderful and we'll be in the championship next year.

31:34We might not even play Millwall. Millwall look like they might come up.

31:45I'll read out a few comments, but I can't be bothered to do much more of this today. I just don't really have it in me. I don't really have it in me. I don't want to sit here and just continue to moan but this is the energy I had today and this is what I needed to bring to the table because it's pathetic. Spurs are pathetic. It's not even a question. It's not even a question. The worst Tottenham team in my entire life by just such a considerable distance.

32:26Jack Underhill so Broby who was on a yellow who should have had four by that point is just allowed to push Romero into Kinski forcing one off and cupping the other one's head got it yep Fran Mulvoney says watching Richarlison waste chance after chance he got today summed it up for me no creative players anywhere

32:52Echo Sonic Music says, I feel sorry for Deserby, which feels absolutely weird. Has Gallagher ever had a good five minutes for us? Lock and Soul Express, no sense of urgency. Look at the other teams down there with us, night and day. Yep.

33:13OJT Vito says, the championship is not easy. Just ask Leicester. This is exactly my point, mate. this is exactly my point

33:26because we're going to have to sign some pretty ugly agricultural players that people are going to moan about if we do and are we going to actually sign those players I don't know

33:41and we're still being linked to Andy Robertson I understood I understood Andy Robertson in January like as a Hail Mary sign someone experienced whatever fine free transfer or couple of mil fine I kind of get it the fact that we're like looking into a new season if we stay up we're going to sign Andy Robertson what

34:13Alon Nomad says was watching on my phone during a family outing dad thought I was having a domestic Christ is grim Chasen Lakhani says that goal you can see coming a mile off how many times are we going to back off time and time again we're done yeah mate and again just feeds my feeds my Vandervey is not very good agenda Mr Stephen Stoch says ref was shocking today to the point that it looks like blatant cheating Gallagher is the worst signing in the club's history. And Solanke can do one. Shocking player who looks checked out. Yeah, he's awful. Sorry, he's awful. Colomuani, awful. Richarlison, I don't think he's awful, but wasn't very good today.

35:04I would prefer to see him as something of a super sub. Tell was bright again when he came on, I thought. But yeah, Bergvale, not a good game for him. I'll give him the grace that he's young and he's coming back from a significant injury. Archie Gray, I thought, was okay. Staggered that he got taken off and not Conor Gallagher, who was shocking.

35:31Toast Malone says, I'm really scared. If we lose next week and West Ham win, we're five points inside the drop zone. And at that point, that'll be that. Mate, I'm sorry, mate. That is that already. we're done mate we're done I mean I know we're not technically and whatever but there's nothing there

36:07ads dice says even Burnley are more of a cohesive unit than this team. We're easily the worst in the Prem and we're not going to win another game. It's not happening. We're down. I've come to terms with it. It's a patchwork mix. Daniel J. Permit says the only difference between that performance and the rest of the dross who've been served up this season was the lack of those disgusting long throws. Identical otherwise. John Benfield says I felt it was likely we would go down after the West Ham game then after the Palace game and certainly after Forest. I think it's now confirmed. This team's mentality and quality is set for relegation.

36:51Simon Rush says, Afternoon Jack, we look awful today. Plenty of huffing and puffing, but the quality was so, so low. Yeah mate.

37:02Andy McGowan, this lot haven't got any desire or hunger for the fight. Culture of comfort throughout the club is boring. Hello, Championship. Yeah. K9 McGurn1 says, Watching the games, it's plain to see. We're just quite bad.

Doesn't matter the manager's tactics or formation, they turn out complete rubbish week in, week out. Capote says, I expect it just to have a better semblance of a team today, devastating blow. The players should be good enough, but they're strangers on the pitch and nowhere near a team.

40:29Like, of course you're going to compare and contrast. Like, other times when we were bad but had a good player and thus compare it to now when we're bad and have no good players. It's a point of reference, isn't it? Like, living in the past.

40:50Deuces Wild says, hates seeing Langer's pathetic face. 40 mil on a Chelsea fan Gallagher who doesn't bother to do the one thing he's supposedly good at which is running. Cleo Westerfield says I don't think the game was as bad. Their goal was a fluke. Sorry Cleo but I can't do this. I can't continue to say actually the game wasn't bad. Actually Spurs aren't bad. We're 18th in April. we're 18th in April I'm sorry like we've had a whole season of actually if this thing hadn't happened actually if that thing hadn't happened then we wouldn't be in this position but we are and it happens every single game because we're terrible sorry like I can't I'm not pretending otherwise Mr Fizzface says hopefully they sell soon but probably need to protest they're not going to going anywhere unless someone offers them the money

41:56Phil Mayo says really glad we've had to accept this

Wonderful. Maybe or maybe we'll be going straight down to League One

44:49Andy Perry says the only good thing about going down is that this team won't be the ones that bring us back up. Jim Fuego says the only player I want to keep is Archie. The rest can say ta-ta.
