In short

Reaction to Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-0 win over Wolves (Wolves 0-1 Spurs), Spurs’ first league win of 2026, and what it means for their relegation battle. The host celebrates the “ugly” win, argues the psychological shift matters, and looks ahead to fixtures (Villa next, then Leeds, Chelsea, Everton). They also discuss refereeing/VAR frustration (a Wolves challenge they believe should’ve been a red; a prior PG/VAR decision that “means nothing” now).

Guest backgrounds

No named guests appear in the transcript; it’s a solo host with listener comments/messages.

Key claims

Spurs needed this win “at the most crucial time” to stay pressure on West Ham and remain in the fight; performance shows “tide turning” since recent matches (Brighton, then Chelsea). The host says Spurs should beat Wolves statistically and that players now believe they can win. They praise goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario/Kinski (composed distribution) and midfield impact (Bissouma, Bentancur). They call out Kevin Danso for a strong performance after racist abuse.

Notable examples

Mathis Tell winning the corner leading to the goal; Spurs’ last winner at Molineux being Dele Alli; Wolves’ yellow card on Bissouma that “should be red”; Xavi Simons coming off injured; mention of VAR offside anxiety; Dattakinski/Moani debate; Bentancur “monster” performance.

0:11Oh, I mean, I've forgotten how to do this.

0:17Kinsky:I've forgotten how to address a Spurs win. First, first win, first win in the league of 2026. and just to mark the occasion, I know we're not out of the relegation zone, but we've won a game. So, you know, I'm just going to just indulge myself this sunny afternoon in a spot of, it's not champagne, don't worry. I haven't got that lined up yet. It's not until relegation. It's something, something from a wine place, but nonetheless, first win of 2026. The Corks are being popped. West Ham, we're coming for you. I mean, I'm shell-shocked. I am completely and utterly shell-shocked. The concept of Spurs winning a game is just, you know, is a very alien one right now.

1:21Kinsky:And we've done it. We've done it at the most crucial time. At the most crucial time I can imagine. When I saw that West Ham goal go in, obviously the first one. When I saw that go in and we're still there trailing behind. Not trailing behind. Do you know what I'm saying? Being held to a draw by Wolves. Do you want to come and get yours shot? Oh, feeding the baby. Oh, how big have you? Cheers. I've just spilt it all over my laptop. Cheers.

2:01That goal goes in at the London Stadium.

2:09Kinsky:We're being held nil-nil by Wolves. That's really nice. And I'm like, this is it. I'm going to go on. I'm going to go on after this. I'm going to be streaming and I'm going to be saying, look, you know, we've got to try and stay positive, but we're whatever it would have been. Six points adrift, five points adrift. I think six. I don't know. My maths is terrible. There's not a chance. Now, I just, you know, the psychological shift. And not just the psychological shift. West Ham's fixtures are difficult. But look, right now, I don't care about West Ham. I don't care about what they're doing. I don't care that they scored a winner right at the end.

2:56Kinsky:What Spurs need to do is win every single game that they have left, every single game that they have available to them. And we did it. We've done it. We've won. We've won a football. Yeah, it's bobbins. It's bobbins. It's tin pot. We're all those things. I am completely the reason I'm the type of fan celebrating this I'm the type of fan that sees Spurs in this position this season alright I'll carry that one I'll carry that and all the rest of us who are happy about Spurs winning a game of football this afternoon we can all carry that we can be the types of fans that see Spurs on the brink of relegation or you can just choose to be happy You can choose to appreciate the fact that Spurs have won a game of football that they found very, very hard to do this season.

3:52Kinsky:But it feels like it feels like the tide, the tide is turning somewhat. And I'm not I'm not speaking too soon. I'm just saying it's just a feeling that I have right now. The performance against Brighton, when you see the performance that they then went on to put on against Chelsea. and as I was saying in like the Patreon preview, patreon.com slash RTL pod, as I was saying in that, Chelsea, the way they have been playing lately, they feel like the us of a few weeks ago. They feel like the us pre-deserby. To say that we haven't somewhat shifted into another gear is false. I'm not saying that we're like astounding.

4:37Kinsky:I'm not saying that today was some incredible, bombastic, total football performance. It was actually not that good at times. There were moments when I was looking at this thinking, where's the urgency here? Like, what are these, what are they doing? Did they not realise we're on the brink of relegation here? Why aren't they pushing harder? Why aren't they pressing more for this? But it seems like whatever it is that they were doing, they've done enough to secure the win. And yes, it's an ugly, bundled over the line mess of a goal. But it is a goal nonetheless. You know what, though? I was, when it was like, you know, there was suddenly this sense that it is going to go to VAR and it might be offside.

5:31Kinsky:I just thought, I can't. I can't. I can't. I can't do this now. This cannot get disallowed. This goal cannot get disallowed. I just don't have the emotional capacity to deal with this getting ruled out. I don't have it. I don't want to live in that world. I don't want to be on the timeline now. If you believe in like string theory and all that, somewhere along the line, there's a version of you that is lamenting that goal getting disallowed. And then Wolves going up the other end and scoring a winner. You know, like, it's just... We've won a game. We've won a game at the most crucial moment. Villa up next.

6:18Kinsky:I think it was Villa up next, isn't it? Not classically, or at least recently anyway. No, I mean, I think even classically, I think I can say not classically, a great fixture for Spurs. No, it's actually, yeah, it's Villa next, yeah. so Villa next Sunday then Leeds then Chelsea then Everton

6:44Kinsky:Spurs just keep winning games you know that's it when all is said and done just keep just keep winning games what am I going to have to do shout out to Mathis Tell who's endeavour to win us the corner that resulted in the goal was astounding, was really good. Again, as I often say of Mathis Tell, you know, brilliant, brilliant player, I think. Doesn't always get the credit he deserves. You know, I don't know what the... Does anyone know what the decision was to take Mawani off the pitch? Was it just that he's terrible? You know, I don't know how he's still getting minutes. I guess it's reputation alone because whatever.

7:29Kinsky:I'm not here to, I don't want to dig out players today. I don't want to start doing, I mean, he's not our player. He's a lone player, but still. I don't want to do that. He might have an important part to play still at some point in this season. But, but it's, you know, it's big. It's massive. Oh, that's what she said. Spurs have won a game in 2026. It would have been nice. I know I was saying I'm not going to go on about West Ham, but it would have been nice if Everton held their nerve

8:05Tel:and we managed to climb out of the bottom three. But it's not to be. We're still chasing. We're still putting the pressure on them.

8:13Kinsky:So, you know, would I prefer to be out of the bottom three? Yes. But is there a positive spin on that? Yes, there is. As I say, we're still putting the pressure on. We're breathing down their necks, if you like. Like we just got to, you know, we just got to continue this. We got to continue this. Get a draw at Villa Park. Get a win. I mean, get a win at Villa Park. Yeah. But at least get a draw at Villa Park is my point. And again, just look ahead. Look ahead from that point. Focus on ourselves. Xavi Siemens obviously has come off. Hopefully that's a very light injury. It didn't look too promising at the time.

8:53Kinsky:Didn't look too nice, did it?

8:54Tel:but I'm not going to sit here and say I know anything about what he's got and what he hasn't. You know, let's just wait and see until we're told the full extent of that injury and whatever. It didn't look pretty though.

9:15This is just, this is, you know, this is quite mad, isn't it?

9:20Tel:It's quite mad to be in this position as Spurs fans, to be feeling this, to be at this bum end of the table, you know? The filter end of the table and just, you know, I don't know. I don't know. Just, just, I don't know how to process it. I'm not built for it. I don't think we're built for it. I don't think the club's built for it. You know, I'm not the only one that said that. That's something that a lot of people have said. And, you know, I just, it's just good. It's good. It is good. Wow.

10:01Kinsky:What an astounding, an astounding wrap up of Spurs' first win of 2020, first league win of 2026. Pathetic. It's the 25th of April. No, no, I'm not doing that. We won and that's good. and we're turning the tide. And yet there's all those annoying things about, should we have gotten a manager like this in sooner? Yes, of course we should have done. But today, today, let's keep it upbeat, right? You know, let's just, let's just bask in, let's just bask in the, in the joy of this, right? Tim's Warren says, we won one in, hang on. We won one Juan. I'm not Juan. Beat Plate says, Harry Kane voice, come on, let's go.

10:50Kinsky:Let's go.

10:54Kinsky:Simp says, yeah, F it. This is worth being happy for. These players know they can now win a game. Let's go.

11:03Tel:On this point, I've probably mentioned this already. I've probably mentioned this already.

11:10Kinsky:But Andros Townsend on the Monday nightclub. a few weeks ago, a couple of weeks ago,

11:18Tel:was talking about his looting team and them getting relegated. And he was talking about... Well, they were actually talking about it in like reference to Arsenal and mentality and all that type of thing. But he was saying that there was a game in particular

11:36Kinsky:when they went 3-0 up either at home or away to Bournemouth. and it got to halftime and they were still sort of nervous and they lost 4-3 and he was saying it's just sometimes you get into a zone where it's not about like desire it's not do they want to win do they you know like they don't care they don't care enough it's not that it's a players get sad and they're human beings and they feel like we just cannot win a game we can't win a game we can't do it from here what are we going to do and you know it's it's you know you can't help but feel Spurs might be in that position you know that these lads have gotten themselves into such a corner where it feels like everything is going against them you know I look at I look at again today I I look at that Wolves yellow card.

12:33Kinsky:I look at the Wolves yellow card. How is that not red? And you can save it. Give me all your, whatever you want. Oh, these days, these days, that's a fine challenge in my day. I don't care about that type of thing. We're talking about football in 2026. And more often than not, I would say 99 % of the time, that challenge that was performed on Bissouma is a red card. And again, like being told by the commentary, being told by you know whoever else that's fine get up it's just a firm challenge it's not he's

13:06Tel:dived in recklessly two-footed like i'm pretty sure that's been a red card for at least the last

13:13Kinsky:two decades you know i i'm whatever it is though feels like we don't get many decisions go our way we've just had like the brian brobby thing haven't we where the whoever it is pgmol or whoever they are have said yeah actually he should have been sent off for that and as deserve he's saying at that point you know yeah you know can we replay the game no so ultimately what use is that to us

13:36Tel:great very big of them to say they got it wrong but means nothing for spurs does it so you can tell that the players are probably feeling like you know they are not getting anything go their way try as they might they can't even win a game so to overcome this and let's not forget

13:55Kinsky:at a ground we haven't won at they would i think the the commentary was saying the last spurs player

14:02Tel:to score a winner at molyneux was deli alley was deli you know that's the last spurs player to score a winner there um just for some context so you know you've kind of got that riding against

14:15Kinsky:your bit and as much as i don't really believe that's much of an excuse like you know we're

14:19Tel:Talking about playing one of the, you know, I think statistically one of the worst Premier League sides of all time, this Wolves team right now, this iteration of it. We should be beating that team. You know, you should be. And I know like we've had our fair share of challenges this season and we've not looked very good at all this season. However, you would say that at least in the context of if we're talking about Spurs staying in the Premier League,

14:46Kinsky:If we want to see Spurs be a Premier League side, you have to beat that team. You have to beat them. And that's what we've done. We've at least laid that down. We're at least showing that bit of fight that we've wanted to. We've wanted them to for the whole season. For the whole season, for months. For months. Again, I think there's room for improvement on that performance. I think there's room for improvement there, but it's a threadbare squad it's a threadbare squad and i do have certain issues with madison being on the bench you know i i i think it's kind of weird like if the if the manager is

15:28Tel:saying like if he's being serious when he says that madison can't play and he's putting him on the bench i again question why we don't have an academy player on the bench there and yet i know

15:38Kinsky:it's a difficult moment to throw an academy player into but you know if and i mean the flip side of that is maybe madison is is closer than is being let on and that he's the secret weapon he is he is there that you know maybe game by game minute by minute there's somebody there because i saw

15:58Tel:deserve he talking to him a few times in the game maybe he is being like do you reckon you can give us 10 minutes how are you feeling can you give us so maybe maybe it is always just a constant constant constant guessing game maybe he's not that cheerleader i don't know i don't know but if he is if he is just a cheerleader if you like i do find it kind of weird he can still travel with the team can't he i don't i mean i don't know the rules maybe he can't but he can sit in the stands or whatever i don't know i'm sure he can still travel with the team even if even if he's not in the matchday squad but look i'm not i'm not going to sit here and criticize

16:35Kinsky:Deserby right now. I'm not going to sit here and criticise what Tottenham are doing when we've just won a game. When I've seen Tottenham ostensibly at least look better in the last few games since Deserby has come in. Even against Sunderland, you know, there was seeds of change. I mean, it's Deserby's first game, right? You know, it's one of those things. But I don't know.

17:02Tel:we um i'm a bit all over the place you know i i feel i feel i feel quite emotional i will say i felt quite emotional especially i'll be fair especially when uh everton scored um and like i say it's it's obviously a shame they didn't hold on but you know i don't think it takes away from the fact that we are breathing down west ham's neck You know, winning a game now, all of a sudden there is that, okay, maybe Spurs aren't dead. That's the thing, right? I think if we hadn't won today and they win that game, it's over. It's all but over, isn't it? I mean, let's be real. It's all but over. But to win, to be breathing down their neck to, you know, show that not just in a point sense, but just in a psychological sense that we're there, that we're fighting, that we are, you know, going to somewhere like Molyneux who, you know, let's not forget held Arsenal to a draw up there this season.

18:15Tel:It's just such a crossroads for the club.

18:18Kinsky:This is such a crossroads. It's so massive. And, you know, like on the Thursday Q &A pod, there was the sort of like the jokey question, you know, what would you do if do you if Spurs stay up and Arsenal win this not honestly you know afternoons like this I don't care what Arsenal are doing I really don't and I think it's moments like this

18:40Tel:solidifies in your heart for me anyway right yes I hate Arsenal and I have that schadenfreude

18:46Kinsky:however you pronounce it when they things go wrong for them or whatever but this sense like do I hate them equally to as much as I love Tottenham? No, I don't, you know? And the thought of Spurs getting relegated, which still might happen, you know, I'm not saying we're clear of it, don't get me wrong.

19:07Tel:But the thought of us going down, the thought of us actually getting relegated is heartbreaking, it's horrible. And I know it's not the end of the world, I get all that, but it's unpleasant and it paints a very uncertain future for the club. this is one of the biggest crossroads I think the club's ever been on in my lifetime it definitely is I can't speak you know I can't attest to before my lifetime there used to be a football club over

19:35Kinsky:there and all that type of thing but right now you know we're talking about Spurs getting relegated having mountains of debt upon us and look let's not start the conversations about our match non-match

19:49Tel:day revenue and all this type of thing will be fine you know i don't think a club with the amount of debt that spurs have getting their operating cash slashed in the way that it would be with relegation is fine you know it might be fine in terms of yeah the club's not going to go insolvent the club's not going to go bust but is it fine for the club that wants to build something that's a winning proposition is it fine for the dreams of ever being one of the top clubs not really I don't think you know it sets us back probably sets us back a decade and if if they make good on their promises and yes I know it's a big if with Enoch and all that type of thing and really I'll believe I will believe it when I see it but if they make good on their

20:38Kinsky:promises if we stay in the premier league then you would have to hope we have a very very serious

20:44Tel:summer and put this nightmare of a season behind us um but let's not think about next year yet because there's a lot of very very very important and dramatic and unpleasant moments to come in this season still and that's where our focus needs to be doesn't it um moldy pickle says a win in lots of capitals jack kenny says rdz is the real deal william rw gardner says elvino did flow jrc 1538 says mathistel fighting to win the corner that led to our goal i love that kid start him over moani the rest of the way coys yes yes jrc 100 100 i mean there's maybe maybe something to be said for having a super sub having an option that can come off the bench i'm just saying you know i don't know you know i don't know if there's any

21:52Kinsky:logic behind that or whatever um but tell every time i see him play every time i see him play i think there's a really really talented player there and i just i don't i don't really understand like the level of criticism he receives yeah you know he hasn't been like smashing it

22:15Tel:all the time but more often than not i think he's a net positive um what was he today a massive net positive you know he's he's fought that he's not given up and it was i've got guys to say one one thing i do have to say that color more i needed today was the way he like kept possession there was this moment when i think it was him and spence and they were trying to get the ball like wolves were pressing us in our own half and moani like had his back to the so there was a player breathing down his neck and he sort of like knocked he did this little trick where he like knocked the ball into his own like heel and it i don't know bounced around for spence i think it was on and yeah it was really nice it was really really good um so you know maybe i shouldn't be so harsh on him because he did a flick

23:13Kinsky:Jan M 747 says, hey, Jack, tubing in from the 390 bus. We did it. Champagne, I'll take it.

23:21Tel:We zeros and ones says L sparkling vino did flow. Look, I'm not David Brent. All right. Like, can we stop this? All right. I'm not. All right.

23:37Kinsky:I do feel that a bit. do you know i've got to say do you know when i do i do feel like there's a bit when i you know when i when i pod with gavin gavin who is a very well-read very smart erudite man right and whenever whenever gavin's on the pod i feel like i'm having this like you know when david brent's trying to like impress impress that young uni graduate in the office and he keeps reading all those sort of

24:05Tel:random facts trying to act like he's learned i feel like i sometimes project that a bit when gavin's on i think you know i that's my one brentism i think i have i'm holding my hands up

24:17Kinsky:there um ben mathis says we've done a football win in 2026 still things seem to go against us

24:30Tel:West Ham winner more injuries and should have been a red card it is but Ben mate you know like you say JRC also says Kinski redemption arc save so happy for him it really was what a save and just I think he's been I'm gonna say I think he's been really really good since he's come in

24:57Tel:it is again as I sort of said last week it is quite mad having a goalkeeper who you know you can give the ball to and he isn't going to completely like lose his ass he seems quite composed he gives us a level of control playing out from the back his distribution's way better I don't have the stats to prove that his distribution looks way better and I think the defense seems much more comfortable with him when he's on the pitch. Let's also give a massive shout out to Kevin Danso who obviously has suffered horrible abuse, horrible racist abuse.

25:42Kinsky:Let's call it what it is. After the last match, he's maybe got it playing on his mind that he messed up or whatever.

25:55Tel:I sort of don't think he did, but still maybe he's got that playing on his mind. Put in a great performance again today, I felt. Don't like, unfollow.

26:08Kinsky:Great performance today, great player, good bloke. Got a lot of love for him. I think he's been one of our players of the season, to be honest. I don't think there's many players

26:18Tel:that can hold their heads up. I know he hasn't played an awful lot of this season, but every time he has played i think he's been dependable and i think he's been you know a good player so you know walex says first game i haven't watched in ages don't worry i won't be watching again till we're safe i'm doing my part thank you very much thank you very much that's very good of you don't watch anymore walex okay don't danger dave says come monday reality will set in we have no players and play terribly against oh come on come on dave come on mate you know you know just just come on we've won a game of football right unless you're not spurs and you're just being demonic here ozzy ang says afternoon we are staying up big win we have to beat what's in front of us exactly that Exactly that, Ozzy Ange.

27:22Tel:Robert Glemworth says, we've won a match. Benes says, never once Dattakinski.

27:35Tel:Dusty Neighbour says, you called it. You said months ago the entire country would conspire to relegate us. Everyone around us just playing out of their skins. Peter Doodle says, we never beat Wolves away. We're back, baby.

27:53Tel:Robert Glenworth also says, cheers, Jack. Enjoy the drink. Was really wanting you to drink it out of the bottle. F1 style. I would, but, you know, that would be, you know, it would just be a mess. It would be a mess. It would be sticky. There's wasps on there now. Not quite, but the wasps are, we're coming up to wasp time, aren't we? So. Hacker CPS says, feels like we just fooled a lie detector test to be quite honest we tightened up at the right times to get by the ref's traps Phil Mayo says we've won a win question exclamation mark who is the priest cheers my man cheers to you sir um oh it's just Robert Palmer thank you very much sir thank you for the uh I don't want to say donation what is it you say contribution on YouTube there we go got to leave Kinski in he's confident now Tel has to start with Xavi Hurt we just need fighters out there Bentancur was a monster today

29:01Tel:Bentancur yeah you know I can't I can't fault his performances since he's come in right and maybe maybe just maybe all those times when I've wobbled-ededly attacked him he's just not been that fit you know and i think i think i've always sort of maintained that i think i've always maintained that he is a good player however he's had a string of significant injuries and to expect him to be the player he once was is probably not realistic um and maybe it's also the fact that we've lacked uh an experienced you know player of a certain quality in the center of the park for quite some time this season so suddenly when you're seeing him there you're like wow okay this is this is what it means um but whatever it is whatever anyone said about him we've looked drastically better with him and basuma in the middle of the park i don't think there's any denying that no denying that whatsoever um so you know jozo bozo said Been up all night with a sick baby.

30:14Tel:Oh, mate. Yeah. I feel for you. Went into the game with a negative frame of mind. Pleasantly surprised with that, especially Solanke. And Xavi coming off. We move. I'm going to bed. Well, enjoy your sleep. Hope the little one gets better. Much love. 10M Scali says, still don't think we'll do it, but nice to get a win. Coise. now none of that none of that today okay 10m scally Lord Spurs says Danso is a natural heir to Davis in terms of commitment no fuss does what it says on the tin 100 % 100 % that's it yeah that's it Mark Davies says riding back from rugby on my trusty bonnie and nearly stacked it when we scored just had to scream into my lid yes coys good lab um craig faircloth for some balance says you're still going down lol you looked shocking maybe we've won a game of football so we'll see craig we'll see we shall see so if if you want to tell us who you support please do um i'm guessing west ham but maybe not um lord's versus polina is one of our only players to be on one of those sky sports news top lists for tackling pops up with a few goals should get a lot less you know negativity than he does

32:02um yeah

32:08Tel:I don't know I'm talking yeah I mean like I think he is I kind of I get the negativity in the respect of like I get people saying that having a player like Polina essentially sets your team up to say we are going to let you attack and we are going to try and stop you from attacking so i get that as and that is like the root of the main criticism against him but i think as a player as an individual he's an accomplished footballer isn't he like he has popped up with some pretty important i mean that's the second time this season he's been like you know he's come to haunt wolves for example um so whatever it is right now you know i don't i don't i'm not really here for culture wars about it i don't care whoever scores whoever does a good thing for spurs right now i instantly love them you know in this case it's just it's as simple as that football is a fickle game and if somebody scores one of those type of goals on our roads to us staying up then you know they they have a a place here right they have a place at spurs uh mr stephen stotch says how many players actually leave this summer considering the injuries madison and coulou won't get moved simmons won't I don't know I don't know I think like I think whether we stay or go Romero and Van der Ven are probably both going but you know we'll have to wait and see because you know people still people still have to pay the money right people still have to pay the money for them just because these players want to go doesn't mean that you know Spurs are just going to roll over and say okay all right then see you later fine fair enough if you want out we'll let you go you know i don't i don't think it quite works that way and i don't think it's reasonable for the players in question to expect it to to go that way um but right now do you know what right now they're not going anywhere because they are our players and whatever

34:31Tel:sorry to anyone listen to that that was me having a drink like a beast um we did get a promise uh i don't know if they've tuned in but we did get a promise that ricochet pig words explain the username when we next win a game so uh you know is it caddyshack is it is it caddyshack the well we're waiting is from um i think it is i mean i'm gonna look that up now well we're waiting yeah it's Caddyshack well we're waiting Ricochet Pig you know you gotta tell us the people wanna know the people demand answers the people demand answers are we going to watch match of the day tonight I might depends what happens with Arsenal now doesn't it I mean if Arsenal got on to lose that's a generational well not quite actually oh Arsenal are already winning alright let's just forget about that oh and yeah and as they scored great yeah wonderful can't really rely on Newcastle this season anyway can you they've been abysmal

36:03Tel:it's hard because the thing is I want to be and I am delighted like delighted to have won it's just it's finding that balance between being delighted that we've won knowing that like we've made a huge statement both to other players and to ourselves like to other teams and to ourselves right but also knowing that we have more injuries and we are still 18th We are still in the relegation zone. West Ham themselves did find a late, late winner. It's difficult, isn't it? It's difficult.

36:49Tel:But as Lord Spurs says here, just remember how you felt when West Ham were 1-0 up and we were still drawing. And I think that's bang on. I think that's the energy, isn't it? That's the tweet. that's what we've got to hold on to that's what we've got to remember because it's been a season of just like honestly honestly like quietly actually quietly I think I've said it on here anyway quietly what do I do quietly what am I like I think I had in the back of my head we're not going to win another game this season like we're actually just not going to win another game and I just think that's it's pretty massive it's pretty massive I think on balance our fixtures are much more favorable than West Ham's there's not an awful lot in it but still I think they're more favorable um we've just got to hope that as several people are sort of saying I'm seeing it on both sort of Twitter and in some of the responses here you've just got to hope that it's not one of those Leicester City things I mean look I saw that Forest game I didn't watch the Forest game last night um and then I just suddenly had these Whatsapps that were like you know what's going on I was trying not to look at my phone to be honest I was watching that um you don't need to know what I was watching um I was watching something on apple tv um the thing with john hammond it's good i enjoy it i think he's really good actually um but i was watching that so i don't want to look at my phone i enjoy this tv show so let's keep my focus on that and then uh i just suddenly you know i had like you know you have a look after the episode and then i see people saying like what is going on what the hell's happening the rest of the league wants us down i look four nil forest a four nil up against the Sunderland team that like fought like dogs against us you know and so you do get that intrusive thought you do get that thinking don't you that everyone's against us and it is kind of do you know it is kind of main character syndrome-y to be like that it is a bit like it is a bit but also there's definitely some truth to it like there's definitely some truth to it because we've heard it before we've heard it before in the Leicester year we've heard players come out and say yeah we didn't want Spurs to win the league which you know is just the way it is I do think people would probably prefer us to go down I am loving I've got to say I am loving seeing all these random accounts like getting rattled because there's been you know there's been several like fake tweets about i think indy carlier did one that was like you know the we've had we've got a source at the premier league that has said spurs cannot get relegated because they're too valuable to the premier league as a financial proposition um and yeah it's obviously bollocks but you're seeing all these other like rando, like obviously Villa fans and whoever else being like, see, see, this is what happens.

40:21Tel:See, Cockney Mafia and all that type of stuff. Like Tottenham are not Cockneys. Like calling, like understand what a Cockney is, right? Tottenham are not Cockneys. I mean, there might be some Cockneys that support Tottenham. I'm sure there are. But Tottenham are not Cockneys. like in the same way that brummies are not scousers it's not you know um anyway that's just one of those things it just irritates me it's like it's just such redundant nonsense because you know we're talking about a team that is routinely picked apart on on all of these different things but i've got to say like i don't know if he's been churlish or not but i am like i am loving old Roy Keane I've got to say right now on the last episode of The Overlap as you know Gary Neville sort of rubs his trotters together again oh can I just can I just say by the way because I got this I can't remember if I got it in the comments in one of the comments on one of my podcasts or on Twitter or something my issue with Gary Neville is nothing to do with any of the political stuff right I'm not I understand that people have this like I you know I sort of forgot there was that whole thing with him and everything it's nothing to do with that it's on the fact that he's constantly digging out Tottenham Hotspur football club there begins and ends my issue with Gary Neville all right so don't contort this into some other point with some other meaning right don't be don't be all internet in 2026 for me you know the you know the famous meme if Twitter's the only place where you can say I love I love toast and people say why don't you why do you hate waffles it's you know um i did find it quite funny on the on the latest overlap i've got to say that he got like they they pulled this bloke out and they were like guess who this is like one of the producers is like guess who this is with some like random fella in the in the studio he's like i don't know he's like yeah he threw a ball at you when you were a player and you kicked it back in his face.

42:35Tel:It was just, it was quite weird and awkward because I think they were trying to engineer this like, way, all right, mate moment. But like Ian Wright sat there being like, so hang on, you're in the crowd and you threw a ball at him like aggressively. And you can tell Ian Wright's thinking like, why have you got this like spiv on here? You know, like what's going on? But yeah, whatever. But Roy Keane, to that point, Roy Keane, he said put money on it put as much money as you want on it spurs are staying up um and i feel like you know he does dig us out at times but with the chips being down right now we need as much support as we can get so when i'm here saying alan smith says this gary neville says that i'm equally gonna say thank you to somebody in the media who does stand up for spurs who does bat for us you know because it's him or it's jamie o 'hara who look right now as well i'm not going to dig out you know actually do you know what him and him and him and kundi have found quite a they've sort of reinvented them so they're kind of one of those things aren't they where they were sort of both kind of loathed for quite some time the two of them and since the whole like Ange Postacoglu mask thing they've sort of entered this new era of like actually they're all right I think I think they're sort of okay um they're sort of weird buddy cop dynamic thing is you know I mean I can't say I listen to TalkSport an awful lot at all but I see the clips and stuff come up and all that type of thing and you know I will raise a wry smile from time to time I I will I I will lend my acceptance, my understanding of humour to such plebeian, everyman content, if you like, right?

44:31Yeah, it's quite funny, isn't it?

44:33Tel:At the end of the day, a man putting a weird mask on is quite funny. We're simple creatures. Farts, toilet humour, it's funny. Sorry, it is. you ever gone to a yoga class out in myself here as as as a soft lad aren't i in front of the front of the lads um ever done a yoga class and someone farts it's funny you know um

45:04Tel:who is the priestess who would like to see byfield uh i was going on about that on twitter I think people seem to believe he's injured, who is the priest. So, you know, there you go.

45:21Tel:Soul Sniper Gaming, just as some balance says, Danso almost screwed us again and Kinski saved him. He is not good enough.

45:32Tel:Different opinions and they all, you know, we can air them all. I'm not here to create an echo chamber. Ooh, heavens forbid. heaven's forbid in 2026 echo chambers hey heaven's forbid people just wanting to you know not have their minds polluted by things that they don't like you know all this stuff all these sort of discussions right all these sort of discussions you don't do this you don't do that you don't like being challenged about this you don't like no no and do you know what no other generation before like our generations now that use the internet have had to be challenged and have nightmares beamed into our heads as much as we do so you know what if every now and again you want to retire to a and i'm gonna say it safe space then who cares then do it you know why do any of you watch me blithering on here because there's probably a level of familiarity with it why do i do the same why do i tune into fighting cock you know hometown glory echoes of glory all the all the various view from the lane all the different spurs pods you know all the different various other podcasts i listen to i find quite funny you know or informative or interesting it's all a kind of safe space isn't it why does everyone watch the same bloody films every single christmas i i don't know i don't need to start going down this path do i um roberto camp says i don't think we'll beat villa i don't think we'll beat everton well we won't with that attitude young man we won't with that attitude i'm glad you're not the one in the in the change room and on the you know training pitch right lord spurs says he was a spurs fan I'm assuming that's about Roy Keane.

47:30Tel:Yep, he was. Well, I think he was a fan of Glenn Hoddle. I think the root of this is he was a fan of Glenn Hoddle vis-a-vis. That was Brentish, wasn't it? I've just said I'm not David Brent on a podcast where I've just said vis-a-vis. I mean, come on. It's done, isn't it? It's done. I've just, I've royally fucked it there. Sorry.

48:01Tel:She said she'd be around here, you know, wearing a white... I'm nervous. You know, quite excited, really, you know. Not sexually. She said she'd be here in a white chiffon... Oh, for fuck.

48:17Tel:John Smith says Aston Villa would be a tough match. Yeah, it's going to be, isn't it? It's going to be a tough match. I think we need to start saying... Let's just... Do you know what? Let's head Villa off. You know what, Aston Villa? You are now, you have replaced us in the big six. I will say that. I will say that happily. Now, you have replaced us in the big six. The reason why we were considered the big six is because we were finishing in the top four, top five for about a decade, fairly consistently. We were going deep into the Champions League. And thus, we were considered one of the sixth strongest teams, one of the sixth strongest teams in the country.

48:57Tel:we were making a lot of money so on and so forth we had some of the best players in europe thus it's the reason that we would be considered part of the big six in the premier league now now aston you've had a good few seasons of finishing in the top four again you're going deep into a european competition you may win the europa league this year i think you probably will we're languishing at the bottom of the table you don't need to be so threatened by little old tottenham anymore you go you go you know with your 19th century trophy hall you go forth go forth and be part of the big six if it means all that much to you i don't know i mean i do know why i'm talking because i get the odd villa fan come on here and say weird stuff right villa there you go villa you are part of the big six and spurs no longer are well done well done for all that it means for as rattled as you seem to get about the idea that spurs are a big six club i would say it's now you so use that power wisely don't squander it in the same way that we have done snake three five one six is greatest scene in the whole series what the the white shift on scott it is quite funny um but there's a lot of very very good moments in there aren't there um i uh a good a good friend of mine a good friend of mine he gave me uh he gave me some some real talk once because you know it was uh one of those things he was he was he was a work friend but i'd say he was like a work friend that became an actual friend and uh it was doing like office impressions and stuff with other people in the office and he was just like you know what like you're quite funny you don't need to rely on like just regurgitating lines from the office to seem funny just kind of you know just rely on your own sense of humor that's kind of like i mean wow that's pretty tough pretty hard to hear but you know thanks i guess and he was just like sorry no offense i just i just really hate when people just rabbit off lines from tv shows and films and stuff i just think it's really boring i was fine you know sometimes sometimes people just like that aren't they they will just say the thing they're thinking and you're kind of like oh okay fair enough um so if you are one of those people that listens to this on the reg and thinks that you know why does jack do that i do it because i want to because i find it quite funny but you know i understand that uh it's not to everyone's taste and as i said earlier if you don't like it unfollow um i tell you what you can do though if you are watching this on youtube right now i see a lot of people watching and not that many likes okay now that makes jack feel sad so if you can just drop this a like and if you are like watching and you haven't subscribed do that as well and let's let's take this as a moment to anybody listening to the audio version of this if you are somebody that enjoys rule the roost on the regular i'm not pushing you to be a patron you can you can join patreon patreon.com slash rtr pod and get preview pods and add free podcasts you can join as both a supporter or as part of the inner sanctum two different tiers um but i'm not pushing towards that but if you are listening and you do listen on the reg and you haven't yet just dropped it a little rating on spotify because they started to grow for a bit and then they've sort of tailed off a bit and again like like with the youtube there's quite a lot of people, a fair amount, not bragging, there's a fair amount of people that listen to it on Spotify and on Apple every single week, but the likes and all that type of thing doesn't quite, you know, it doesn't quite correlate.

53:04Tel:So this is your cue now. If you listen to this, at the end of this, drop it a little five stars, five, obviously, drop it five stars. And if you can be bothered on Apple, just even write it like a nice little review, you know, just do that. That's all I ask, all right? That would be lovely.

53:26Tel:Dusty Neighbour says, this changes everything on Wednesday. No one will remember how we won, just that we are coming off of a win. We got to Villa as winners. We go to Villa as winners, I'm guessing. Probably just a typo. Yes.

53:47Tel:John Smith says I dropped the tears from every week since December to the like button thank you very much John Smith I do appreciate that you know it's nice it's nice to feel that it's nice to feel loved nice to feel valued how are Arsenal doing in the Premier League it's still 1-0 1-0 to the Arsenal Newcastle like they really are they are us last season they are us last season in so much as they are rapidly dropping down the Premier League right now they will probably be just about alright I mean they'll definitely be alright they're not going to get relegated but my point is they'll be alright purely because everyone else is awful below them um much like we were last year but think on think on lads um

54:50Tel:because you know this is where we are this is where we find ourselves you know i watched some of um i watched some of millwall leicester last night millwall knocked the ball about quite nicely I was watching Millwall thinking like, you know, if they're a team that are struggling or have always struggled, I mean, they've been very good this season, but still struggle to get promoted. I don't think the championship is going to be a walking apart. But in saying that, Flav said that James Alcott said that if Spurs keep a good chunk of their players, they'll walk the championship. So we'll see.

55:42Tel:What more do we have to talk about today? Is there anything? Let's have a quick look. Let's have a quick look while we are here. No, nothing really. I just think that it is good it is good that Spurs have won a game of football yes it's not perfect yes the season is not perfect yes it is not going exactly the way that we would want it to go however however we have won a game of football as I say I think you can say I think you can say quite comfortably that Roberto Deserbi has started to turn the wheel turn the wheel is that an expression i don't know um and things are looking up things are looking up to a degree london easter with a with a contribution to the channel thank you very much who says no comment just thanks for being there for us during whatever has happened this season um for for whatever this season has been and whatever happens thank you mate thank you for always tuning in as well um i appreciate it i appreciate everybody that that does tune in it's been kind of mad you know there's been that part of me that's thought this season like you know we've been horrible you know we've been horrible spurs have been as bad as i you know ever really we've been as bad as we've ever been and actually the uh both the pod and the YouTube have grown so you know I'm glad to see that people are finding some sense of comfort in whatever it is I'm saying this is definitely as I say this is definitely a form of therapy for me and I know there have been certain games where I've lost my ass or whatever I think a bit after them but you know I would like to think that I am not somebody that is a voice that number one projects myself as a voice for Tottenham.

57:49Tel:I don't, you know, I don't like all that. Oh, Spurs fans think this, Spurs need this, Spurs need that. I'm always trying to just sort of share the way I feel about Tottenham right now. I don't ever want to be one of these fans that does performative things. It's shouts and screams and all that type of stuff for numbers. There's plenty of times, there's plenty of times this season I could have shouted and screamed and had it clipped up and like, look at this birds fan and you get all those moments but it's just pathetic isn't it it's not it's not what i want to do yeah it's not some big pat me on the back because i've done that i'm just saying like you know i do try to keep this as authentic as i can and i'm glad that that resonates with people and i appreciate everybody that has is even new to the channel or has watched or listened to this for years now um you know me and raj started this pods don't know when now 12 11 12 13 years ago um it's changed a lot down the years obviously we've had seb come and go and then you know raj has gone as well um i don't know can i

59:00no i won't say anything just in case um just sending raj much love is what i would say

59:07Tel:um right now and good love positive nothing sad very happy um good love for raj but yeah always try to keep it as authentic as possible oh welcome to me you look at me going all well into my youtube channel i try to be authentic thank you everybody for listening like and subscribe um you know like you see all those uh you know when you're trying this isn't anything new but i'm sure you all know and you all share this frustration when you'll be like how do you make like how do you make like an arabiata sauce i want to just quickly look like arabiata recipe i first started making this arabiata after i went to italy in in 2018 it was so lovely we stayed at the blah blah blah and you get paragraphs and paragraphs of this is why i like arabiata and this is when i ate it and this is this and i like to buy all my stuff at insert brand partnership deal here whole foods or whatever you can do that and with my code you can get 25 off your first hello fresh however after that point you then get the recipe right at the bottom and it's usually always wrong as well it's usually always crap winds me up um there you go that's what i have become oh thank you for tuning in even though tottenham are losing i try to be my authentic self on here it's pathetic isn't it supposed to be football um and that's i think that well at least the live section of that just died the live if you're listening to this now i was just doing this live thing and the uh the live section has just died i don't know why that's happened i think my internet died or something um but there we go that's it tottenham hotspur football club we've that suddenly do you know what that's suddenly like uh it's suddenly like sparked me into this like i'm like sober suddenly what's happened you know like an earphone coming out on the tube or whatever and the music starts playing.

1:01:23Tel:Yeah, you know, whatever. Spurs have won a game of football. Come on you Spurs.

1:01:29Kinsky:Up the Spurs. Who cares what West Ham have done right now? We've won. We're turning the tide. Are we staying up? I don't know. But at least they're showing some fight. At least we finally got a win under our belts. Thank you for listening. I love you Tottenham Hotspur Football Club

1:01:48Tel:I love you all up the spurs good chat

From the publisher

Spurs have won a game in 2026 - and what a time to win it!!! Keeping the hope of staying in the Premier League alive, João Palhinha's bundled stab at goal was the difference in an ugly game of football. Incredible effort from Tel to win the corner that resulted in the goal, and an overall solid, if at times slightly uninspiring game from Spurs. Truly matchwinning save from Kinsky at the end to deny Wolves the equaliser. Annoying that West Ham won.
