In short
Tottenham’s 1–0/“win at Elland Road” international-break momentum, Thomas Frank’s mental resilience and defensive solidity, and debates about low chance creation/XG vs results. They also highlight individual performances and Spurs transfer-window impact.
Guests
Billy T (host/regular) and “Bill” (co-host/other speaker). No other guests are named in the transcript.
Guest backgrounds
Both are Tottenham-focused football podcasters/commentators discussing Spurs tactics, player form, and Premier League/European results (e.g., Europa League, Wolves, Bournemouth, Leeds, Forest). They reference fanbase culture and analytics (XG) from a supporter perspective.
Key claims
Frank has made Spurs mentally tough and more controlled, especially after conceding; Spurs are only Premier League club not to concede after 75 minutes; low XG chance creation is acceptable early due to defensive foundations and missing attackers; personnel issues (injuries/sales) explain limited attacking output.
Notable examples
Xavi Simons deployed as Spurs number 10 vs Leeds; Kudus’ assists and first Spurs goal; Palhinha’s disruptive midfield role; Mathys Tell’s first goal and off-shoulder movement; Danzo as late-game defensive “tool”; Elland Road atmosphere; Forest’s Europa League “pass over the top” vulnerability.

1:50Jack:Hello everybody, welcome back to Rule the Roots podcast. Tottenham have gone into an international break with a win, Billy T. How are you feeling, mate? I don't know what to do with myself, mate. It's been weird, isn't it? It's just sort of, you know, usually going into an international break, literally on the last seven occasions, it's been a loss. And you have to sort of suffer and ruminate that for seven, you know, for two weeks. But this time we've actually won a game as well. And I was just thinking, like, one of my favourite things about the international break is the absolute terrible content that comes with it.
2:20You always get these kind of questions like, you know, who's better hazard or bail and stuff like this just absolutely like absolutely um unanswerable questions that no one will ever be able to unmeaningfully answer about having ridiculous bias and usually because we've lost i'm so annoyed by the questions i'm so annoyed by the international break content but now we've actually one going into one i can actually sort of just sit back and relax and get into that kind of absolutely meaning i don't know if you remember um this is when um in international break was when someone was talking about wunders and churchill being captain for tottenham and like that was in an international break someone called him pen chill because that was that's the kind of stuff that we're going to get into in the international
3:01Jack:break i'm sure but this is it mate i mean the thing is now on this international break like you say when you see the hazard versus bail debates you can just sit there in your tony soprano dressing ground sit back and just enjoy that content lap it up exactly and also confidently saved Bale, hands down. Oh yeah, without a doubt. And that was literally a Son versus Winston Churchill debate that somehow Tottenham Twitter got into. Just absolute madness. But I don't really, I don't know about you, mate, but I don't really care for England anymore. I have a very passing interest, because it seems to have many players at all in the squad.
3:35I thought you just meant that as a general statement, Bill.
3:38Jack:Going all political on me. I'm not putting any roundabouts, put it that way, this international break. I mean, look, massive, massive results psychologically. Like you say that, I think that's got to be one of the biggest reverse Dr. Tottenham's we've seen in the respect of, like you say. Mate, 12.30, kickoff, after a Champions League game, international break. Ellen Road as well, a championship away game. Seven international breaks, like precursor games that we've lost. that's I think that's what is it since last September since they've lost to Ellen Road I mean it's pretty and Ellen Road has never really been that happy 23 games I'm beating there or something like that 23 yeah something like that or yeah it's just um obviously most of them in the championship still I mean a lot of this is you know this to me it adds to that growing sense that this Tottenham side under Thomas Frank are they're mentally tough mate they he's equipping them better to grind out these sort of results that, yeah, I know they're not always the most pleasing on the eye, and we will get into that.
4:49Jack:But at the same time, there has to be something said for that level of resilience that he's already drilling into. A really young squad, right? And I think, I know obviously we'll go into the game in a bit more detail, but I think the thing which really set it out for me is we lost our heads in the first half after conceding and we were under the cosh quite badly and then we went into half time and obviously he must have had an effect on them because we came out in the second half and i thought we were really really good in the second half to be honest especially straight from the kickoff um so he must have got into them at half time which really shows that he is the sort of man to sort of you know work on this mentality and it's really good because you know he did it at the wolves game as well and he did it at the international break he's really done his homework on tottenham like he knew that this was a big thing going into it he knew that wolves you know know we haven't beaten walls i know we didn't beat walls but you know that we hadn't you know we hadn't beaten walls in six games going into he knew about the international break thing um he seems to be sort of really tapped into the sort of the frailties that we have as both a fan base and a club um and is doing work to adjust that so yeah i think the way that we came out in the second half because as soon as we conceded our heads totally went in that first half didn't they a bit for like a good 10-15 minute spell and the referee was all over us as well let's get into mate right frank style i think this is we have we have to touch on this we have to right the main sort of the the reservations people have had about yesterday's game is that we've again struggled to create sort of relatively a few should we say high quality chances i think that's that's that's the main objection and i've seen various different xg models bandied about i was i'm i'm learning i'm always learning that there are there's there's many different xg models apparently um and they've all sort of mapped it out slightly differently however they all generally have had leads ahead and this seems to be a recurrent pattern that we've seen in spurs's last few games right there is this ongoing question that we might be winning despite Frank's, say, conservative approach.
7:00He is being argued, perhaps,
7:04Jack:that he's happy to sacrifice a level of, should we say, like attacking fluidity for more of the sort of control, compact style of football, which, you know, it makes it feel that we're grinding out results rather than, say, achieving something, if you like, at least achieving something in an aesthetically pleasing fashion. Now, the question is, Bill, do you agree with this? Do you think it's overstated? And if you do think there is some truth in it, I mean, I guess this is the challenge, isn't it? Do you think Spurs can continue to win games like this? Or do you think that low chance creation is going to catch up with us?
7:47Jack:Because all I would say is, and I touched on this in the post-match, we had an entire kind of career under sonjie min when people kept saying his low xg will catch up with him sooner or later um but it never did so i don't know quite quite a lot to process there bill but what are your sort of general thoughts on on this narrative around frank and some of the stuff i've sort of said there um firstly i'm not one of those people that um um or these people that say oh I don't believe in XG but obviously it's not really something you believe in or not it's it's obviously a thing but there's a lot of real skeptics about it I'm not one of those I do think it does have value and analysis and like it's just one of those things it's just how you use it isn't it like if you're going to use it as you know more important than the actual result and that's crazy but if you're going to use it as an indicator of like how well a team is playing or how the match went that's fine but I don't think it's the only thing that you can use because I don't think anyone can really watch yesterday and I certainly didn't watch yesterday and felt that Leeds were the better team um i thought it was a good game a really even contest and it was definitely not an easy game but i thought there were spells in that game where we were absolutely had them on the left hand in particular like udogi odabare chavi and stuff like that were really running right at points and i think xg can be skewed really easily so for example like they had their goal was like a tap in from two yards which obviously obviously you know vicario made a save and then it falls to a player a league player from two yards out like that's a really high xg chance so it's going to be skewed in that way but i don't think that tells the whole story of the game um and i think in the context of like if this was frank's second or third season and we were playing in this way it might be a little bit concerning but considering we've had so much to undo like so much has happened in in this frank frank's time here like we were coming off the back of finishing 17th and like 20 plus losses you know i'm not going to retread over that we've all been there a thousand times but there's been a lot of work to be undone and a lot of, you know, there's been a lot of baggage there from the Ange era.
9:49And obviously some of it is good baggage, some of it is bad baggage. There's a hell of a lot of baggage. And I think Frank has done an amazing job at sort of being able to step away from the incredibly emotional events of last season and start fresh. And I think the fact that we are incredibly, you know, a lot more solid at the back is much more important for me at the moment in the early phase of Frank's management that said you know if we were playing like this you know next season and really struggling to create xg against leeds i would be concerned but i think in the context of his first you know first little eight ten to ten games of the premier league i'm absolutely fine with him having to think right what i'm going to start by doing is making the defense a bit more solid and he's undoubtedly done that you know we've got the best i think they said on commentary yesterday we've got the best goal conceded record in the league at the moment so well the second best so i think you have to start with the foundations and I think Frank has undoubtedly done that in a really short space of time so I'm not too concerned about the xg thing and also I kind of I kind of feel like you know chance creation and like having loads and loads of chances isn't always necessarily like the most attractive thing as a fan I want you to obviously attacking football is important but I also kind of like as a fan I also like to see my team winning duels and like getting in and sort of being really hard to break down or Romero going for a tackle or something like that or Lucas Bergwahl going for a tackle in midfield.
11:07I think there's lots of different things that you can enjoy as a fan rather than just creating chance after chance after chance. So I think we're a lot more competitive under Frank and that's really what I wanted because so many games last season and I think I saw you talking about it the other day. I know we're going to talk about this a little bit later on, but watching that Forest game in the Europa League this week and it's really hard to not talk about Ange all the time and keep talking about Ange and there's so many points about Ange, but it is still quite fresh because it was a big part of our last two years.
11:38Obviously, we've all experienced it the last two years. But just seeing teams again, when Forest conceded in the Europa League at the weekend on Thursday, just being completely carved open by one pass over the top of defence. It was that third goal again. I just watched that. Yeah, we saw that so many times. We've seen it so many times. and the fact that we don't have that anymore and we're a lot more solid and we're a lot more difficult to score against, I think that this point in the season is the most important thing for me.
12:11Jack:I mean, I do think that there has to be sort of the considerations made that we are missing Madison, we are missing Kulisevski, Kalamuani has not been fit to play for this time. You know, Oduber is green. You know, he's young. He's still getting up to speed with the Premier League. You've also got Mathis Tell, who's in a similar position to that. Like, you know, I think it is... It's a bit much, I think, to expect Spurs to be completely dominating and retaining possession in that final third of the pitch when, you know, we don't quite have the personnel there. Whatever he's telling Mohamed Koudouz to do, he's doing well.
12:57Jack:Do you know what I mean? And that to me shows me that he's not putting a handbrake on Kudus, for example. He's letting him do his thing. And that to me speaks to the lack of actual quality and not even lack of quality. That sounds so charged and that sounds like so derisory of the players that we have. But just players of a certain standard, should we say. I think even if you had your go-to attacking managers like Ange, Luis Enrique, the flick at Barcelona. What realistically can a manager do if you lose Son in the summer? Now that's at least 25 to 30 goal or assists in a season. You also lose Kulisevsky and Madison, two huge goal contributions.
13:46And you replace them with some youngsters like Odobertel who are just getting up to speed. 20 years old, both of them. Yeah, great. we've got a fantastic player in Kudos and you know Frank is getting an exceptional amount of Kudos and he's an incredible talent but I just don't I don't foresee a situation where any manager could be getting like I can't see a situation where we have a different manager an attacking-minded manager which people say that Frank isn't for example I can't see a situation where with that personnel we're going to be scoring goals and goals and goals and goals just I think it's more of a personnel issue than a manager issue and I think what's really really encouraging is we are still managing, you know, to get incredible performances out of Kudus.
14:25And I think that just shows if we do manage to, you know, address these problems in January and summer, we could be a really, really exciting team. And you just have to look at what Brentford were doing with Wemo and Wisser. You know, incredible amounts of goals and assists between them. And Kudus already has said that that's, you know, that's the reason why he signed. He wanted to play for Frank. And Kudus has got the most assists in the season out of any Premier League winger. For my money, probably he's arguably been the best player in the whole league this season. It's just a real glimpse of what Frank can do with attacking talent.
14:55So I don't buy this, that he's like an antithesis of Ange and like a completely defence-minded manager. I just think, you know, he's working with quite a difficult attacking squad at the moment because two of our best attackers are injured and we sold one of the best ever attackers to play in the Premier League.
15:09Jack:I mean, Brian Mbwemo secretly must be quite gutted that he chose Man United in the end. and it's you know it we can't forget like what he had Brentford doing at points and I think like again this is one of those things where I've seen some people try to revise history on that like oh no I actually watched loads of Brentford and they were terrible to watch they weren't though I watched a good few Brentford games when they'd be on you know if you hate watching them playing against Arsenal or if you if they were just sort of the game on the Sunday afternoon on on Super Sunday you still sit down and watch them and when they were in full flow when they had sort of their best players available to them they were knocking the ball about pretty nicely we are I mean we were a work in progress and it's it's quite mad that we are you know like you say I and this is the point I keep arriving back to is that like football is emotional right it's it's emotional and last season was it was really it was really bizarre and it was really hard to get a handle on you know I I try my best to convey that for all the podcasts I was doing last year in that we just simply kept losing in the Premier League really in an unprecedented fashion.
16:21Jack:I'd never seen Spurs do that in the Premier League before in my lifetime. And it was mad to see. But then to end that season by winning the Europa League, one of the biggest highs we've ever had as a fan base, at least in modern times, it just it left everything in this really bizarre sort of state of flux where there was so much kind of pent-up emotion i'm talking from from my own perspective here um and i feel like from what i've heard from other people when i talk to them this feeling is shared in terms of it just left us all a bit confused and wondering you know where we're at like when i spoke to joel last like last week or the week before, he made a really good point that we're a club that just has a real sort of, you know, identity crisis right now.
17:10Jack:We don't really know what we are. We don't really know what to expect from the club. And as such, like our sort of, our aligned perception of where we're at or what we should be doing as a fan base is kind of all over the place. And ironically enough, with the work that Frank is doing right now, hopefully that will bring some kind of foundation into where we're at, what we're doing, and what our aspirations could and should be, right? And I think we've gone from essentially having like an absolute, I mean, literally the most, as you mentioned there, and as anyone that listened to your reaction podcast last year would know, like the most insane rollercoaster of a season ever, like literally the highest highs, lowest lows, almost got relegated, won the Europa League, every single week was a loss, and then, you know, this insane emotion going into it.
18:00but then we get through to the semi-final zero per league and everyone's buzzing again literally like a roller coaster that goes up and down and now sort of frank is like just a steady train ride isn't it like just i'm in control and really sort of competent and the fact that we've lost one game this season is like the absolute opposite of last season you know we were unbeaten in seven games at the moment we've lost one game to bournemouth um we're unbeaten in the champions league we're through to the next round of the cup i think you know and i know that fan i think that But some fans probably deep down kind of miss that sort of insane emotional thing because a lot of our life as Spurs fans has been like that.
18:34It's been roller coasters of being absolute incredible highs, incredible lows. And we're sort of accustomed to that absolute uncertainty. But Frank is just a steady pair of hands. And sometimes that doesn't fit our insanely neurotic fan base. But I think deep down it's what we all want. We just want to be with a steady pair of hands that are going to be, all right, we might not go out and win 5-0, but we're going to win or something like that. And I think it will take some adjusting from the fan base to get used to a steady fair of hands, because we've never really had it. Like, we've always had, you know, even Pochettino, it was incredible highs and lows in that, even, the Champions League final and stuff.
19:06And Pochettino was an incredibly emotional guy at the best of times. But Frank is just like, he's a bit like a teacher, isn't he? He was literally a teacher. Just a steady pair of emotion, sort of like, yeah, just safety. And I feel like Tottenham fans aren't really used to safety, so I think it might take a bit of getting used to. But I just think it's been an absolutely insanely good start, really, when you step back at an international break and look, we're in the Champions League unbeaten. We're top four in the Premier League. We've only lost one game. Yeah, I think it's been a fantastic start, really.
19:36Exactly.
19:37Jack:He's like a pair of supportive Marks and Spencers underwear, isn't he? it's not like a flashy designer number where you can have the sort of waistband sticking out the top of your jeans to try and sort of show off a bit you know when you're at the gym or whatever just a nice a nice comfortable seven pound pair of m &s cotton white we might and we might go on twitter every day and pretend that we want to be flashy you know in fashionable clothes but at the end of the day everyone goes home they puts on their martha spencer pants to go to bed exactly Exactly. That's it. Deep down, I thought we all crave.
20:13Jack:Because everything sits in the right place. Everything feels well supported. It's all good, you know? And I think that applies. I think that's a unisex take, right? Everyone loves M &S underwear. So, I mean, look, you know, we're talking about this sort of foundation and everything. A remarkable stat, I think you could say, that came to light during that game yesterday is that Spurs are the only club in the Premier League thus far this season to have not conceded a single goal after the 75th minute which is is mad just as a stat that we're the only club to have done that but I do think especially for Spurs because as you say a lifetime of kind of roller coaster emotions and everything one of those consistent say parts of being a Spurs fan is our pretty much nailed on ability to be able to concede a goal in the dying minutes of games right yeah and i was a bit like yesterday i was a bit frustrated yesterday to be honest with you i experienced it that he took simmers off and he brought on you know he brought dance on i don't think directly for each other but he brought dance on and we pretty much shut shop for the last 10-15 minutes um and held in and obviously we've seen that before this season and um you know i think just again there's so much neurosis in our fan base at the moment myself completely included in that and the fact that we just think anytime spurs go to defend a leader with 10 minutes left, we're going to concede and fuck it up.
21:38That's what we've done countless times over the past 25 years or so. But the stats don't lie and we haven't done it this season in the Premier League. So, yeah, it must work. And I think like that's the kind of thing that we need getting used to sometimes is the fact that this is... You can't go full guns blazing every game. And I think I was a bit annoyed that Simmons came off and I thought we lost a bit of control when he came on. But sometimes maybe you do just have to dig in and defend. And I think one of the reasons why we've been successful in that is because Danzo is such a good person to bring on for the last 10-15 minutes.
22:08He's just going to win every single header and clear it out. And he's just like an absolute no-nonsense defender, isn't he? I think he's an absolutely perfect tool for Thomas Frank to do that, I think. Well, let's talk about Xavi Simmons because obviously he moved central yesterday. And I know there was some sort of debate in the Wolves game as to whether or not he was playing out on the left or centrally, if he was playing a sort of floating role and everything like that.
24:19Jack:But I think we can unequivocally say yesterday he was deployed as our number 10. He was playing in the middle of the park. And what came with that was his most influential game in a Spurs shirt, I think would be sort of safe to say, at least in an eye test sense. Let's put it down that way. I think for my money, the thing that stood out was that we were suddenly able to transition the ball quickly from defence to attack, especially when we were sort of, you know, it could be argued that we were playing on the break at times against Leeds. But even then, I don't know, I'm hesitant to say playing on the break because that feeds into the agenda that we're sitting back.
25:00Jack:I just think as play naturally unfolds, sometimes we'll break. And Simmons was usually pivotal in that, in terms of knocking the ball about. Is close control in tight areas? Is something that we've been lacking? He combined well with both Kudus and Tell, I think, especially yesterday. just a really quietly I mean it's not even quiet is it a loudly exciting signing the sort of signing that we've wanted Spurs to be making for quite some time and dare I say it's looking good right so far? Yeah I think that was probably his best game for us to be honest there were some moments of real quality when he chipped that pass over to Pedro Aparo that was unbelievable and I thought he had a really good link-up with the left-hand side as well, particularly with Udogi and Odebeer, I think.
25:58And I'm not going to go into this criticising Odebeer completely, but I think he's a very young player that will only get better. But I think if you put sort of a real quality left-winger there, because Xavi seems to play, even when he's playing number 10, he plays slightly inside left, doesn't he, rather than inside right. But he does link up for Kudu still. But most of his link-up play comes from the left, it seems, because obviously he can switch to a left-winger as well. I think it'll be really really exciting and I think it kind of does remind me a little bit of James Madison to be honest like the way that we're just always getting the ball always looking to do things and that's the kind of player that we've lacked since Madison's been injured and Kulishevsky's been injured I thought it was like a real proper number 10 performance like always getting on the ball always trying to do something always trying to create something taking on a player beating a player so yeah I was really really impressed I thought it was by far his his best game for us And I think, as I was just mentioning before there, I think the real sign of it was when he went off, we kind of lost all control of the game completely and sort of conceded possession to Leeds.
26:59Yeah, so it's just really, really exciting to see kind of what we all wanted when we actually play him. Because this was the first start in the Premier League in the number 10. It's kind of that thing of, well, everyone's been saying it online. He has to play 10. He has to play 10. And finally he did. And it was really good.
27:15Jack:I mean when I spoke to Kish about him when we first signed him one of the things that Kish remarked on was Xavi Simonson's like remarkable level of maturity and I sort of forgot you know yesterday I'm watching watching him play watching him as you say boss it be influential for us be one of our be one of the leaders on the pitch this is a 22 year old you know this this this guy's 22 years old and it it shows doesn't it I mean you know he was apparently a captain at every single youth level all the way along his sort of career at Barcelona, at La Masia, as he was coming through. And I don't know, man, there's a difference in quality, isn't there?
27:55Jack:And I think we can see it ourselves. When Spurs go out and sign a player like him, who I think we all sort of know the world's worst-kept secret is he's on a massive salary, right? He's got huge wages at Tottenham. The type of player that we wouldn't have signed under Levy. and when we did sign him this summer we were all wondering what the hell had gone what the hell had happened and then obviously lo and behold Levy gets let go a few days later so we can see that the decision was probably taken out of his hands or at least we can speculate that and I think just we can see that with our own eyes we can see the sort of quality that you get from the type of player that that demands a huge salary that has a lot of hype around them And yeah, you know, it costs a lot and we are going to be in a different place when it comes to juggling PSR or whatever.

28:47Jack:But at the same time, if we want to be competing at the top end of the table, let's just have more of those sort of players come into the side, right? Yeah, definitely. And I think if you, and it's always good to use these international breaks as a kind of checkpoint. I'm sure if you ask people who the best player of the season has been, two of them would be new signings. And, you know, Kudus and Palinha, who, again, similar to what you just mentioned there with Xavi. high-wage players, pre-improven players, quality players, expensive players. Both of those in particular I think have made a massive difference and I think Xavi will go on now to make a similar kind of impact on the first team.
29:21But I just think this is absolutely fantastic that this summer was a completely different kind of window to the ones that we've seen before rather than prioritising potential with prioritising quality and those three players there, I mean, you're hard-pressed to find a better signing this summer than Kudus I think completely. And obviously, I thought Palina was excellent again yesterday as well. I know you've spoken a lot about Palina on this podcast. There is a lot of discourse around Palina. He's just emblematic of the whole Frank era, isn't he?
29:48Jack:Yeah, he is. And I struggle to think of a better player for doing the job that Frank wants him to do because I know people are criticising his passing and stuff like that, but he's not there to do that. He's there to break up play. And I honestly believe that he's the best at doing that in the world. I think, obviously, if you're looking at number sixes, he probably got like Rodri ahead of him in terms of an all-round game but in terms of actually breaking up play and intercepting the amount of times he did it even yesterday in a game that we had you know it wasn't like the leads were all over us but he's still he's still he's always in the right place he's always tackling um and I think those two have definitely been our best players this season and then I mean you just you can't even describe Kiddos at this point right like it's just been an absolutely insane signing like and the fact that he got a goal yesterday as well and there's just things that he does on the ball which it's just I can't imagine any other winger in the Premier League being able to do is almost like having Dembele on the wing, like pace.
30:38It's crazy, right? A hundred percent.
30:42Jack:It's like John Lily White Rose said, he looks like a Liverpool, Man City, we won't say the other club level player, right? He just looks like that type of player, that City or Liverpool go out and sign. And it's, you know, I have no idea why none of the other clubs went in for him. And I know one of my things I'm always saying is that you can always tell the players at Spurs buy who are usually really good, but they're never quite good enough for the clubs that are above us. But I think you could definitely make a case for Kudu starting for Manchester City. At least. You know what I mean? You could probably put them into Liverpool's side.
31:30Jack:Actually, you could definitely put them into Arsenal's team as well. He's a ridiculous player. He is an absolutely ridiculous talent. And Frank himself said after the game that, you know, he needed that goal. And that, you know, I wonder if that's a reflection of the fact that the player himself has been perhaps frustrated, despite him being an influential player, despite him having a brilliant amount of assists. Do you say the most assists in the Premier League? Yeah, he's got six assists this season already, which is a lot of time remaining, yeah. So most assists in the league this year, but still no goal.
32:05Jack:For a player who isn't shy of a goal or two and has had a few range finders, shall we say, in his Spurs career so far, Frank said it felt like he needed that goal. And I kind of got that vibe as well, right? It seemed like a sense of relief that he'd gotten that and managed to do his kind of sitting on the chair celebration that Tell gave him a nice assist for as well. I don't know if you saw. yeah I think I think it's been much much deserved because I think I think the story of our attack in the season if you look at the season as a whole it's pretty much we've been carried by Kudus like he's been by far our best attacking option like it's not even close really between the others and Kudus and the fact that he hasn't scored yet I think is undeserving of like how influential he's been and the sad thing is like we see it I know we talk about Twitter through the football through the lens of Twitter all the time but the sad thing is in this day and age, the analysis of football is so, the economy is so heavily weighted on goals and assists.
33:09If he's not scoring goals as a winger now, he'll just get labelled as being a flop or whatever. It's just the way the game goes now. If you're not getting goals and assists, you're nothing now.
33:17Jack:They'll call him something like, what is it? It'll be like an assist merchant. Yeah, exactly. That's a bad thing. It's just the way the game goes now. You have to get scoring. You have to, you know... It's like with Savino last season. he's got like 12 assists but only one goal and everyone was saying no you know doubting him there for that you just have to be scoring making goals and assists now as wingers um so yeah brilliant and um i just think it's much deserved because he's just carried us like literally almost literally at some points when he sort of gets the ball and he gets like there were points at times yesterday where there are like four lead players on him and he seems to emerge with the ball every time it's just absolutely insane and i just think he's there's a brilliant video going around on um a West Ham podcast and fair play to them for not deleting it at the moment when they're talking about when they sold them in summer thinking that they've had our pants down 55 million I think and they were saying you know that's a ridiculous price for a player that scored three goals last season or whatever and they've had our pants down for the transfer fee but I think you could double it right now and most fans would probably take it like 100 million this is like I was talking to my brother yesterday I think there's maybe one or two wingers in the Premier League maximum that you're swapping for at the very most and I don't want to say who one of them is because he plays for that lot.
34:27But, you know, I think we're looking at an elite tier winger in the Premier League at the moment. Big time, big time.
34:34Jack:Did you see the... Did you see the bottle that got launched at his head? Yeah. We missed him by milliseconds, didn't we? It's quite a good throw, wasn't it? I don't condone that sort of thing, but, you know. And Puro got in getting vaped as well. Like, I think LM Road is like one of those venues that's like untouched by modern football, isn't it? It's like proper... that's old school, old school fans who launched off opposition players. None of these people, none of these people are thrown out trying to take a picture of him doing, doing the celebration. Yeah. There's no, there's no signs up, are there?
35:08Jack:Like, kid, who's going to have your shirt? I mean, but that's, that's, it's a good point. Like, cause one of the things that I guess we've sort of touched on, but about yesterday, the fact that there's any sort of, I don't know, deliberation about how good or not that result is i think also ignores the fact that ellen road is is a tough place to go you know and i know that's a cliche i know that's like a classic football cliche but ellen road is is is a spicy ground it is proper old school they are you know they're that sort of breed of fan aren't they it's what we all sing we all ate lead scum you know yeah I think the ball went out for a corner in the first three minutes.
35:51And the atmosphere was absolutely insane. I was thinking, Jesus Christ, have they done this for a 12.30 kickoff on a Saturday? Tottenham would not be like this at this time of day. So, yeah, the proper... My memory of that ground is like that FA Cup game where Gareth Bale did that turn pivot thing, but we lost. That's my main memory of Ellum Road. It was just horrible ground to go to, horrible fan base in terms of intimidation. And yeah, I think it was a really good win yesterday.
36:22Jack:Do you remember, it was one of those, like the Premier League, it does show you how agenda-driven and stuff like the Premier League is when they're talking about the objective quality of goals and stuff like that. Because Lucas Moura scored potentially one of the, from what I remember, one of the best solo dribbles and goals I think I've ever seen in the Premier League. And we barely even remember it as Spurs fans, let alone do you ever see it replayed or anything like that. Do you know the one I'm talking about? I think it was in the scoops. I know exactly the one. That was his last ever touch of the ball, I think.
36:57Jack:It was a mental goal. I think Kane scored his last ever goal for Spurs against Leeds as well, didn't he? yeah and I and I think they also Kane did that insane ball to Son and they got that the record-breaking goal they got the record-breaking goal against that one as well I'm just trying to find out was that Leeds game wasn't it his last Premier League goal for Spurs was it am I chatting nonsense I feel like it was yeah it was it was it was Leeds Spurs against Leeds yeah so there you go in that purple kit I think wasn't it so one of the other big sort of talking points out yesterday another big positive was Mathis Tell who he scored his first goal for the club um his general play was pretty promising and his goal look people are going to be quick to say that the goal took a deflection off of the player, but I still think his movement off the ball, his willingness to sort of drive at the defence and to take a risk, to have a shot, and to have a shot that was clearly struck with some power to end up in the back of the net, that all feels like straw clutching, I get it.
38:16Jack:I know, when you start listing out things, but I've been sort of a big advocate for sticking by Mathis Tell. Me too. because there's clearly a player there isn't there there's clearly a player i'm not saying he's going to be harry kane but i do think there's a player there and it feels nice to have because there's been so much talk about don't ever play him up top again don't start him up top again but i actually like a player that looks like he can play off the shoulder do you know i mean and and and be somebody that you can just knock the ball in front of and he might be able to get on the end of it like he did yesterday i don't know i'm i'm a fan mate i'm i'm a big fan as well and I think some of the reactions to tell is absolutely insanely over the top.
38:59This guy's 20 years old if you imagine Kane at 20 years old was out on loan every season going to different places and almost a bit of a joke figure. I was reading yesterday that when Semenya was 20 years old he was at Sunderland. He made seven league appearances and no goals in a season when he was 20 and now look he's one of the best players in the Premier League. It's such an incredibly long age for a footballer, 20 years old and this guy's come from one of the biggest clubs in the world, Bayern Munich, gone to Tottenham. He's 20 years old and he's got a lot to carry on his shoulders because I think at Bayern Munich, he was touted as one of the best youngsters in the world.
39:36And I really, really like him. I think you have to be insane not to be backing this guy. The way that he comes out, we saw last season, the times when he was talking to the fans after losses, he was fronting, going in interviews. I think he's got a really, really good mentality. and the setbacks that he's had as well, not being in the Champions League squad. Obviously, he had horrific abuse after the Super League Cup penalty, which is abhorrent in every single way. I really like his mentality and I thought it was amazing yesterday when Thomas Frank took him over to the away fans. I love that yesterday.
40:09And I hope this will be a good springboard for him. But for me, I think he... I would start him. I think the quality is so obvious. He's such a good ball striker as well. And when you sort of see these videos that come out in international breaks, funnily enough, when he's playing for France under 21s, he scores some absolute banging goals. We haven't seen the Tottenham yet. But yesterday was the first time where we've seen that sort of, he's a really, really good striker of the ball. And for me, I back him fully.
40:38Jack:Do you see that account on Twitter, The Touchline? Yes. They shared yesterday, so they're saying like, if you consider Jean-Philippe Mateta, who at 20 years old was playing in France's third division, at 21 was in France's second division, and then moved to the Bundesliga, played with Mainz. And then at 23, he moved to Crystal Palace. But it's only now at 28 that he's actually, at least the past couple of years, where he's looked like an actual tidy player, right? Do you know what that tweet made me realise? I had no clue that he'd been at Palace for like five years. I thought he was like a new signing last time.
41:19Jack:Yeah, exactly. Talking to Phil about that on one of the Patreon pods the other day, we were absolutely staggered because we were thinking, oh, they must have just signed him in the past couple of years for a decent bit of money. But yeah, I think he only cost about 10 mil. They got him from Lyon around lockdown time, wasn't it? Yeah. And it's the same with Odeber as well. 20 years old, they both play for France under 21s. France are literally the most gifted pool of players in the world right now. It's absolutely insane. And then Mateta just got the call-up as well. You can't be rubbish in playing for France under 21s at this day and age.
41:55The quality that they have is insane. They're the most overwhelmingly talented squad in the world. So there's a real player there. And I just think, you know, we've got to back him. We have to back him. We have to get behind your players. I know that Frank was. And I've always kind of felt like there's a slight difference, isn't there, between the away fans and the home fans with Tottenham? The away fans were probably behind him yesterday, and I thought that was really good to see. And I think, you know, traditionally speaking, your away fans are your most loyal fans that go, travel to places like Leeds all the time.
42:24And it was really good to see that connection there with Tell. Because, you know, there's been some ups and downs with him this season, some real lows, you know, not being the Champions League squad, I was just saying. and I really hope now that he will go now on a bit of a run because I think there's a real player in there.
42:41Jack:Do you reckon Destiny a doggy has got his place back? Or am I too binary about it, mate? It's a squad game. We're going to rotate between him and Spence. He looks different gravy, doesn't he? Really a doggy. Yeah, and I think the main thing that he's got over Spence is obviously being left-footed. He was absolutely steaming down that left wing yesterday. I thought he was exceptional yesterday. And I think he's just an incredible... That's his best performance in a Spurs shirt. Oh, yeah. A year at least, right? Yeah, and that's proper the Udogi that we've always known that could be there. And again, another really young player as well.
43:19He's insane. And I think that's probably the best depth in the country, like Udogi and Spence going for a left back. You're not going to get two better left backs than that. It'll be interesting to see if we see Spence as a right back I know Poro is sort of, again, there's a bit of discourse around Poro at the moment, isn't there? He seems to get done quite a lot defensively. Obviously, offensively, he's one of the best players in the league in terms of fullbacks. It would be interesting to see Spencer and Udoggy playing together because he tends to only rotate Spencer with Udoggy rather than Poro, doesn't he, at the moment?
43:50So that would be interesting to see if that happens a bit more. But I do think you're right, though. I do think they're going to be rotated different game for game because they're both exceptional left-backs, I think. is offered by your banks and credit unions. 45:26Jack:have you bought any of the you know like some people suggested that spence is like believing his own hype a bit too much you know like the maybe the whole spence penitentiary thing has uh gone a bit too far and stuff or do you think it's just quite simply that he's played loads of football and he might be a bit tired so that's why he doesn't look quite sharp as he has done yeah i think that i think um i hate that kind of criticism to be honest it's just like any football of a person However, I would say that it's a bit harsh putting the Doncaster right winger in the penitentiary. I sort of feel like that was a joke between friends.
46:02Jack:Yeah, yeah, definitely, definitely. I did like the response of the Warnock peering through the camera like me, Mazur. Yeah, no, I love it, man. Footballers are so boring generally these days, like the media training. I think it was really good as well when you saw Luca Williams Barton coming out the other day. He's obviously so young that he's not been media trained as well. And he just came out and said, Doncaster was rubbish or whatever in the interview. He said they're a really poor side. Yeah, he just said, we know they're a really poor side, which obviously a media trained player would not do.
46:34Yeah, I'm all for footballers having a bit of personality, man. It's just mind-boring most of the interviews, aren't they?
46:40Jack:Well, I was glad to see you. I saw you going in on the joy vampires. Oh, yeah. That was another thing that was weird, wasn't it? Because he said he liked Gascoigne, didn't he? Yeah, Gascoigne and Junola will obviously exceed his lifetime. But I kind of think that makes him more Tottenham, do you? It's like he's obviously put some thought into it. And obviously, he's come from a Tottenham family. Especially there were some rumours going around last season that he's a Chelsea fan because of the Cole Palmer celebration thing. But John, Lily White Spurs, Lily White Rose, very quickly pointed out that he's actually from a Tottenham family.
47:16And for me, that's more in doing than just saying, like oh Gareth Bale or whatever do you know what I mean it's like he's obviously you know grew up in a Tottenham household and for me that makes it even more special my whole life I've been told
47:28Jack:like how good Dave Mackay was how good Glenn Hoddle was how good Jimmy Greaves was do you know what I mean like it's and everyone was saying oh you've never you've never seen those guys play it's like well you don't need to in this day and age like the internet exists yeah I don't know it's mad who's going to be your who do you think we're going to pass on to our future grandchildren that will make them watch YouTube videos of Sonny and Kane obviously Sonny kept a deli man, like peak deli yeah he was a joy to behold man, he really was I think people forget actually just how good you, not so much Spurs fans but I think people outside of Spurs tend to forget actually quite how good Dele was from such a young age.
48:17100%. And that was just, yeah, that would be my go-to answer as well. He's like, in many ways, he's like the Gascoigne of this generation, isn't he?
48:25Jack:Yeah. I mean, him, I suppose, Grealish as well, who, do you see he scored the winner for the Broke Palace's run? Yeah. Streaks over. Does that mean we're still third, doesn't it, hopefully? I was secretly sort of, if Spurs don't go ahead and do it, thinking Palace might be a team to go and Leicester it and deny Arsenal. Now we're getting to the end of the pod, mate. Are you officially entering concerned about them territory now? I'm terrified, to be honest with you. I'm absolutely terrified. I think all signs are pointing to the fact that they're going to walk it this year. I think everyone is saying oh yeah but they say that every year but they keep spending money they keep getting better and better there has to be a point where it happens surely you can't just keep messing up and finishing second every season and people are saying yeah but they've done that for the last six years but then they've got to spend another 250 million this summer as well it's like my big worry is I put all my eggs in the Liverpool basket and they look absolutely rubbish now I just assumed that because they spent like 400 million after winning the league it would be a lock off and you know they won their first five games or whatever didn't look convincing, but now they've lost three in a row and they look, I think they look poor as well.
49:41I think we could, you know, we're right up there at the moment in terms of that. I'm going back to the old faithful of hoping for Pep, right? Like that's all we've got left in Man City.
49:52Jack:Please save us Pep, daddy, innit? I'm just hoping that Harlem's insane this season, isn't he? So that's what I'm hoping because, yeah, it's getting a bit worrying to be honest with you, mate. Do you reckon your constitution you should handle uh tottenham arsenal title race oh god no absolutely not but think about like when we were in a race with fourth like it was horrendous wasn't it like every game like felt like i wanted to kill myself like that was for fourth place like god the title race would be there's no chance i could cope with it i'd rather i'd rather just get relegated or something like that and i have to think about it like it would imagine going into like the last day and worrying about Arsenal's result for like a title rather than for finishing fifth or fourth like it's it doesn't even bear thinking about it does it do you know what honestly worries me more and I know people say you're a coward and stuff and I'll gladly wear that for this one but the thought of us being in like can you imagine playing the Champions League final against Arsenal can you imagine if we both got to the Champions League final and we had them I I honestly I don't know So I wouldn't, I genuinely, I don't think I'd be able to watch the game.
51:02Jack:No, no, I mean, I actually don't think I'd be able to. I'd have to just turn it off and watch, go and watch a film or something. Go to the cinema, go watch a film. Check the phone after, right? Yeah, watch Lord of the Rings extended edition, something like that. Do you know what I mean? And just disappear. I honestly, I don't think I'd be able to handle that. I think I'd struggle enough if it was like an FA Cup final, you know? yeah because we had like when we had the semi cup semi-final didn't we and then when you know i was in the i think it was 2002 maybe or something like that and then obviously there was the carabao cup semi but the carabao quarterfinal whatever it was um we thrashed him with robbie keen on that but it's not the same is it like oh it's an epic up final or a chambers league final or a or a league title race just something and that would be so different and i don't know how like man united and man city even though they're not sort of particularly as strong arrivals as we are how they have they done it over the last decade or so it's just horrific mate i just yeah i don't know not for me um one final thing as well actually i meant to bring up with you is it's uh the highly reputable source indycalia calia has uh linked us with even tony um coming up in january apparently thomas frank has made direct contact what i would say is you know let's ignore the source for a second and just speculate on that as an idea when i did see that come up my gut feeling like my immediate gut reaction to that was yeah i'll have a bit of that do you know i mean it's exactly what i thought that is exactly what i thought um and then obviously i've got another question for you in a second on that on that note but um that's exactly what i thought because i think in terms of a january signing and then i saw there's a couple rumors coming around on about Semenyo as well if we managed to do Semenyo and Tony in January that would be like epically one of the best January windows ever where's this Semenyo stuff got I haven't seen there's a couple of there's a couple of ITK bits around then it's on like it's on court off side and stuff that he's going to be our number one target for January if we managed to do it like if we did if you because we could feasibly sign Semenyo and Tony like no that's not like like Semenyo is a lot will be an insane amount of money but apparently you know new owners and all that and the ambition that it's doable and then tony is obviously a free transfer on loan so it's doable to get both of them that would just be insane going into the second half of the season but my um my long-term plan i don't know whether you saw that the goal yesterday which i think was absolutely insane would be to you know get over tony on a on a little loan and then get h back in summer that would be that's the one that i'm eyeing but um Did you see that going yesterday?
53:46It was absolutely ridiculous, wasn't it?
53:48Jack:Obscene. Like, the bloke just... I love the fact... It gives me this sense of, like, sad pride. And I know it splits opinion from people if you should be happy for Hurricane or not. I will always be happy for Hurricane. He's our boy, you know? Yeah. Whatever. I wish him nothing but the best. And seeing the amount of Bayern fans now that are all like, yeah, like Spurs fans weren't joking. You know, this geezer is insane. Did you see Buddy Company came out and said, oh, you know, now he's a more complete forward these days. He drops deep and everything. It's us. That's our thing. Yeah. My genuine theory, though, I think he'll stay there.
54:34I think he'll be new. He's doing such an unbelievable job there that I can't see him leaving. Sadly, I would love it. You know, it would be elapsed. I think it would transform us into immediate title contenders if we signed Kane in summer. But I don't know. I just think it's going too well. I can imagine winning the Champions League in the next two years if we don't win it this summer. I think it would just be like 500 grand a week to stay there for another two years or something.
54:58Jack:I think he only leaves... Honestly, I think he only leaves them for like a City or a Liverpool. I mean, I'm not going to say the other one. But I think that's who he leaves them for. I agree with you. I think he's almost at his best right now, isn't he? He's scoring absolutely absurd amounts of goals. Can you imagine if Madrid just went a bit mental and fancied it? Yeah. If they were just suddenly like, go on and actually, let's have a go. There's rumours of Barcelona on there to replace Lewandowski. So I can imagine him going there and winning the lot of Yamal and stuff. But to be honest, I think it's easily imaginable that Bayern Munich will win the Champions League this year.
55:36Alise Kane and Diaz. You've seen Alise as well, how quality he is. Yeah. But you can still dream about it, can't you? Hopefully that... I don't think it means as much to him as everyone says, but maybe he does want that Aaron Shearer record. Who knows?
55:50Jack:It might do. I mean, the thing is, it might not even be now when we get Kane back. Maybe he... Because, you know, what is he, 31 right now? 31, 32? Yeah, I think he's 32, yeah. You know, maybe we get him back. He's literally playing his best football at the moment, sorry. When he's 35, you know, he has that sharing of year with us. just comes on and has a bit of a sort of bench role. Or maybe even does like Bale did, where we get him back on loan during one window or something like that, maybe. But I think the idea of him coming back as a star signing for Spurs, I just, I can't see it. I think he's in that, like, because I think right now Spurs, we still represent too much of a risk in a way.
56:30Jack:And I think really he just wants to be, he wants to be hoovering up trophies now. I mean, Bayern, you would imagine, I'm probably going to do the double at least, if not the treble. At least, yeah. So, you know, and I'd be, if Spurs don't win it, if Spurs don't look like they're going to make a fist to the Champions League, then I'd be buzzing for him because whatever anyone wants to say, mate, there is a part of it that is a win for Spurs. There just is. If you've got a picture of Harry Kane lifting the Champions League trophy, that is a bit of a win for Tottenham, you know? And I do, on a broader point about Tottenham, I do genuinely believe that we're a left winger and strike away from being seriously good.
57:17I really believe that. And I think, you know, if we could do that, Semenyo Tony, short term, Semenyo Kane. I honestly think if we signed Kane and if we did manage to do it somehow, there was some kind of, you know, the new owners would have thought, right, let's just put all of our insane amounts of money into this, pay him whatever he wants, get him home. I think we'd be immediate title challengers. I really believe that.
57:38Jack:i would i just i'd love it mate i would love it i've seen some sort of the chat is like no never go back i'm like come on man really yeah yeah i'll go i mean look at look at the look at the strikers that we've got at the moment i would i'd go back any any day any day for him bill what are you uh what are you doing for the international break mate you're gonna go watch any films i've just got back from the smashing machine mate i've just got back from the Smashing Machine which I was a little bit undergone so had I oh no I was a little bit underwhelmed by it to be honest with you um what did you think I just thought I thought the story like this I was expecting something crazy to happen like do you know I mean and it never really did it's a bit of just like an underwhelming story isn't it like I think that obviously the performance from The Rock is great but a bit underwhelming I don't know what did you think yeah I thought The Rock was really good I do like I do I there was a bit of me that went into it quite cynically thinking oh right you know now he's sort of binned off the kevin hart films he thinks he's like serious because he's been rattled by batista and everything but he he was really good and i think the sort of greatest compliment i can give him is that i did sort of forget halfway through the film that it was actually him do you know what i mean like and i know that's a physical transformation is really good isn't it like he looks completely different yeah it's it's unbelievable and he is really good in it um but like you say yeah i was i was slightly underwhelmed by it.
59:01Have you seen The Iron Claw?
59:05Jack:Have I seen The Iron Claw? Zac Efron. That's a much better film. I thought it was going to be that kind of film where just like mental stuff happens every five minutes. It's just like quite an unremarkable sports story isn't it? I also feel like I don't really know anything about Mark Kerr as a person or any of his history or anything at all. Do you know what I mean? yeah so usually it's going to be like he's going to win everything and be like it'd be like a rocky kind of story or some insane tragedy happens and really it was neither of those things it was just kind of like oh he lost a few fights he won a few fights and he obviously had addiction and stuff but i thought you know what i did think was that ucyk was quite good in it wasn't he like yeah yeah yeah it was quite weird as well i had no idea he was he was in it um but he was pretty decent and i think like it felt like to me that the the film was made it was coming from a place where there was actually like there was a you know there was a want from the filmmakers and the producers to shine a light on the ufc stars of yesteryear who didn't earn the fortunes that they do today much in the same way that we see you know with with the old school footballers right the footballers who won the double for spurs still have to go around and do the legend circuit they still have to, do you know what I mean, like earn money and I'm not saying that in a rude way, I'm just saying that's the difference of the time that they were playing in Yeah, because the fights and stuff was all a bit timpah, wasn't it?
1:00:34I thought the fights were really good in themselves, but like the arenas were like sort of, you know, sort of amateur, it wasn't like Rocky style playing at Wembley If you see any of the clips of it
1:00:46Jack:watch some of the clips of like the old fights on YouTube and stuff, mate, like there, you know it's a different standard you know and that's again that's not supposed to be derisory but i feel like anyway that's the the film was trying to make that point and it sort of summed that up with the the title cards at the end of the film right when it was showing you the bits and pieces and i don't want to spoil it so i won't spoil it but there is like this i thought was quite a nice little surprise at the end of the film um which was you know quite an interesting way to take it but other than that yeah like like you say i was i was slightly underwhelmed by it but i'm still um it was a great performance from the rock yeah i have to say that i'm still basking the glow of uh one battle after another i'm still not over that i thought that was that was exceptionally good i might have to because i didn't watch it in imax i might yeah have you seen all the stuff it's like um there's all this all there's a different format it's on there's like vista vision in america which i don't think you can get in england i'm not sure on that but it's like um yeah it was shot on like ridiculous like vista vision whatever that means but um i do i kind of really fancy seeing it in imax like the locks or something have you seen uh as well there's um they're releasing i can't i can't remember if it's this year or early next year the uh kill bill as part one and two yes combined together as well we have to go to that together because that would be exceptional it's like four hours as well i'm sure i'll be well up for about four hours 10 minutes and there's a new there's a new seven minute animated sequence in there I'm not sure if it's new or if it's one that just didn't make the final cut of the you know of the films at the time but there is some previously unseen seven minute animated sequence in there which you know I love the animated sequence in the in Kill Bill part one and just this whole thing it appeals to me because I've always been one of those pedantic nerds that's always been like I'm not going to compare Kill Bill one and two I'm not going to tell you which one's my favorite because they're actually two parts of the same film um which often has people rolling their eyes and telling me to be because he he's he's like got in his head hasn't he that he's only going to make 10 films or whatever so you could put those those two as one and then you've got two more to make well he's bunned off the critic now you know that like yeah yeah he has hasn't he yeah i i was i'm i'm kind of in a bit of um a bit of a leo hole at the moment i thought he i thought he was unbelievable in one battle after another i'm I might go back and watch Once Upon a Time in Hollywood as well because he's just got some...
1:03:13You just forget how good he is, don't you? He makes a film every three or four years or whatever and he's like, yeah, he's still the best.
1:03:19Jack:Yeah, he's absolutely class, isn't he? But Bill... And also, I think my local are doing obviously it's horror season now and they're doing Alien, I think. I confess that I've never actually seen Alien, so I'm going to go see it in the cinema for the first time. I've never seen Alien. Ridiculous, isn't it? I've never seen it. I've never seen Alien or Aliens. I've never seen either of them. Two very different films. But Alien... And they're showing both films in a while, I think. So I'll be going to both. Yeah, yeah. Alien, like very slow burn, very kind of artistic in some respects, very creepy, very visceral, very weird.
1:04:03Jack:Aliens, amazing. like it's basically the film that starship troopers tried to be like you know action marines good comedy moments it's just brilliant practical effects a lot is probably my favorite film of all time really that and uh i don't want to straight enough i don't want to stray too much into filmmaking making it a film podcast what are your overall thoughts on big jim james cameron i think he's i think he's the goat man i can't wait to see avatar I am looking forward to it I love the fact that the whole story He's aliens right? Cameron is aliens Ridley is alien I think they sort of fell out a bit over which isn't a massive surprise coming from the pair of them quite big opinionated sort of Way of Water is also showing in Tino World at the moment which I'm sort of half tempted to go back and watch I think I will, I enjoyed it I mean, I know it's funny, isn't it?
1:05:04Jack:Because the Avatar films, they're such a like point of banter. Like people love to sort of take the piss out of the Avatar films, but they are decent. Like they are good cinema experiences. Yeah. Yeah. I can't wait. Really looking forward to that this year. I didn't realize it's the fire one, isn't it? Yeah. Fire and ash or something, I think it is. apparently the people that have um even like some skeptics that are sort of you know not massively into avatar they've seen like the i think they did like a 10 minute uh preview of it and one of the festivals and uh apparently it's like absolutely insane like this is going to be the best one by far they're some of the only films i don't really like even when films sort of come out with a 3d option i just i never really bother with it i don't like having them on my face i I generally hate it, yeah.
1:05:54Jack:Yeah, yeah. He shoots it in 3D, doesn't he? Yeah, I will generally watch the Avatar films in 3D because they are just, I don't know, it adds something else to it. They are amazing. I do always enjoy them in that, but yeah, great films. And yeah, great performances from Spurs. So get out to the cinema, watch some films during this international break. Don't forget to vote who's brought out of Bale and Hazard. Exactly, do that. Wear your dressing gowns. don't get rattled on the internet too much and yeah Bill, it's been a pleasure any other podcasts you're doing this week that people should listen to?
