A few to choose from here. It's a magnificent header from Christian Romero.
1:24Jack:Yes, him again! And Tottenham's centre-backs deliver once more! Romero, with a third match running, may well have saved Tottenham State! Hello everyone, welcome back to Rule The Roots Podcast. I just want to give you a quick disclaimer at the very top. We're actually recording this on Sunday evening, so if you wake up on Monday and Thomas Frank's been sacked, I either might not put this out or I might kind of put a disclaimer in at the top again and things whatever you get the point right like you know things change in football Billy T welcome back mate how are you getting on well things change in football another disclaimer we're recording this after a certain Man United Arsenal games things change very very quickly it could be today grandma it could be today yeah much better than I was about 90 minutes ago mate Do you wish Michael Carrick had a bit more affection for us and could be our interim manager?
2:26Yeah, and I've got some receipts from back in December, November. I said we should get Carrick as an interim. I saw Jonathan Woodgate on the sideline as well, another Tottenham connection there. Yeah, got it. But, you know, as I'm sure that we will go into in much more depth, just shows the power of what a change a manager can do.
2:45Jack:Recording this on Sunday evening, as I've said, Billy, do you think when we wake up tomorrow he'll be gone do you think he'll still be our manager I think he'll still be our manager yeah and can I just say forget everything that I've said for the last the last week two weeks three weeks four weeks month it's really important that Thomas Frank gets the Man City game after the Alton result it's really really important that he is our manager in that game I mean whoever's our manager mate you know we're getting three points out I know that's a depressing thing isn't it we are as inevitable as Thanos, you know?
3:19Jack:It's like it's happening, right? Yeah, but on a serious note, you know, last Sunday, there's loads of stuff was coming out, wasn't it? I was convinced. I actually woke up early on Monday morning, checking my phone all morning to see if he would go. And he didn't go. They stuck with it. But this time, none of those noises seem to be appearing. So I think they're just trying to let it all blow over and then, you know, have a repeat of last week and hope the Champions League can distract for a bit. Yeah, I do think you'll be manager. Well, let's sort of flip this a bit again, right? This is devil's advocate stuff.
3:54Jack:This isn't me presenting this as my feelings on an emotional basis. Thomas Frank himself has said there have been improvements. We hear pretty much every single press conference, pre or post. That was a good 20 minutes. That was a good half. We just need to keep up that half and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. our performances will sooner or later come right nathan a clark a massive frank skeptic even posted and i think begrudgingly but still posted saying the underlying data is actually improving uh you know a um let's say uh what does he call it what is it is it correlation not causation isn't it i think it's that yeah so the the the correlation factor in this is the underlying data has improved when our opposition has been pretty poor um but still the underlying data is improving the style of football definitely is not it's not something we find particularly palatable but that's an emotional side for fans right if you're if you're in charge of the football club right now we're sat here saying in every single like you say every single noise is Vinay wants to stick by him, Johan Langer wants to stick by him.
5:12Jack:From their perspective, can you at all concede that if the data presented to them is that Spurs are improving, we are slowly turning a corner, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, the oil tanker, if you like, is turning around. They maybe don't want to lose that 20 mil that they spent on him, Cochran and the rest of the staff. they do want to give it to at least the end of the season because they feel like there might be something coming from that can you at least see where they're coming from and again like i say i'm not presenting this as my opinion i'm just trying to do you know i mean get a handle on exactly where we are being say emotional as fans because we don't like the playing style we don't particularly like the bloke, and where a business-minded organisation, such as the people who are running Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, might be motivated to make a decision.
6:09Jack:Do you get where I'm coming from, mate? Does that make sense? I feel like I haven't really outlined anything of a question there, particularly clearly. Why break the habit of a lifetime? Yeah, it does make sense to me. And I think what is clearly going on is that Vinay is trying desperately to think, to try and start the new Tottenham Hotspur reign with something different because it's really, really clear that if you look for our last recent history, particularly since we moved into the new stadium, we've just chopped and changed managers like no one's business. And managers have gone. Nuno got eight games, for example.
6:45Rarely, rare management last two seasons, which in the Tottenham years is like dog years, isn't it, for managers? You have to time it by seven or whatever to actually get the actual, which is about 14 years in any other club. And I think Vinay has come in and said, I want to stop this. I want to stop this nonsense. You can't just keep getting rid of managers every season and doing it all the time, which I think is, if you zoom out and away from what the situation is, that's an okay. You can see the reasoning behind that because we can't keep doing it all the time. We have to, and we do, and we kept saying it under Levy as well.
7:18You have to choose some, and Ange said it himself in press conferences last year. he said you know at some point you have to stick with something um and we're sort of desperate for that to be a real thing but the problem is we can't stick with this this cannot be the thing that we stick with because and i think the um you know i you know i know both me and you are really similar of this sometimes we um you know we like to um air on the side of hyperbolic sometimes for a comedic effect or whatever and um and um you know but the reality is and i can't believe that we're actually talking about it.
7:51We could genuinely be in a relegation battle, which is scary. So I think you have to outweigh the thing that, yeah, it's an admirable attempt to try and think, right, let's try and do something different and stick with someone for once and give them back him. But at the same time, if we do that, then I'm really actually worried that we could go down. I mean, we're talking on a weekend where West Ham and Forrest both won. Tottenham were terrible and, you know, West Ham have suddenly pulled out two back-to-back wins. They're the only team in the league to have a consecutive run of wins at the moment.
8:20Jack:Mate, I'd actually missed at West Ham with the early kick-off yesterday. I was getting ready to do today to hate watch it. No mugs. Who's that lad they've got in midfield that was spraying all sorts of balls from the centre of midfield? Fernandes, yeah. Where has he come from? I know. What's that? What's that about? I'm linked with both the Manchester clubs now. But, you know, he scored an absolute banger yesterday as well. Have you seen the compilation of his doing the rounds from the game yesterday? What? Yeah, unbelievable. And we're there with Conor, Poe, Bieri, bloody Gallagher chugging about all over the pitch.
8:58Jack:What's all right about? We might have been there, you know, and we see this all the time, don't we? We might have been the reason. We might have been the turning moment in their season. That sort of win over us might have been, actually, we can actually play football and do all right. So it makes it a double-edged sword there. I mean, let's look at the Burnley game. what are your hot takes what are your feelings about the performance you know I've seen a few people I think Marcus Buckland from the uh the Tottenham Way 2.0 said he actually thought it was a good performance from Spurs um he got into a spat with Ramon Vega about it which it's quite funny that's the reason why I saw it um uh but most people seem to be saying it was it It was awful.
9:42Jack:Full disclosure, I thought maybe the opening 15, 20 minutes, we looked pretty decent. And then the last five, 10 minutes, we looked all right again. But for the most part, I thought we were pretty dross. What about you? Yeah, that's it. I think, and I don't blame fans for this because, you know, no fan wants to be negative all the time. We're looking for positives in anything at the moment. And the standards are so bad at the moment. And it's not our fault, by the way, as fans. It's the club's fault. that we're sort of looking at a decent spell against Burnley where we had six or seven shots on target and a keeper make good saves and thinking, actually, we're not that bad, are we?
10:18But the standards are so low that that's the sort of thing that we're sort of looking through the mud to try and find a bit of a glimmer of gold somewhere. And it's dropped so far down that we're looking at a spell against Burnley and thinking, actually, that was a good performance. But if you look at, if you zoom out again, and I thought the second half, we were pretty awful, pretty much the entire game, the entire second half. There was that Solanke chance early on, which we should have taken. And then again, as we've seen so many times at the moment, until we go 2-1 down and then suddenly we start throwing caution to the wind again.
10:51But I wouldn't really say in the second half at any point. And this is my main worry about Thomas Rang. I don't think he's able to coach a side which controls the game at all. I never watch a game with Tottenham really and think, oh, actually, you're in control of this. We don't seem to have any kind. And I think that's because the build-up play is so poor. We're just sort of lumping in a few crosses now and then and having a few shots on target. And that's what sort of accumulates is a good performance under Thomas Frank. But I think in terms of in recent games, it's one of our better performances.
11:23But considering the fact that we're playing Burnley away, who are a terrible football team, it's really poor. And I think my worry is that Thomas Frank keeps coming out every week and saying, well, that's the seventh game in a row where we've had a good performance. But even the Dortmund game and all the games preceding it, we've never been able to string a game where we've played well for two consecutive halves. It's always been one in the first half or the second half. So I think the standards are so low at this football club at the moment. I blame, to be honest, Thomas Rank, to keep coming out in every single press conference after this game.
11:50Well, actually, it was a good performance, or I think it was a fine performance. And he's probably in a bit of self-preservation mode there because he's back so against the wall. But I can't remember a single game in any recent history where we played well for two halves.
12:04Jack:I mean, let me, let me, let's take it one step further, mate. Like, you know, I raised me, one of the great minds of our time raised in my post-match stream thing, me, that I genuinely don't think there is anything about this Frank reign that we can, even through the most begrudging lens, I don't think there is anything at all you could hang your hat on as a Spurs fan and say, okay, he has that one thing going for him. him and I can't I can't remember any other manager like it in my entire life I honestly can't I think exactly the same and I think the thing that you compare it to and and in itself is a is a you know it proves what I'm about to say here is that um and just rain was so like there's so much to it in terms of highs and lows and the emotional weighting of it all that throughout Thomas Frank's whole reign and I'm I'm more guilty of it than anyone else I understand that we're constantly going, well when Ange we did this and I remember when it was with Ange and with this and last season this happened and Ange was getting booed and we're constantly using Ange as a reference point whoever the next manager is I can guarantee you no one will be using Thomas Frank as a reference point whatever it'll be like the men in Blackpain, it didn't even exist there's nothing to reference is there I can't remember, the only thing I can possibly offer is maybe that PSG performance at the beginning of the season which was essentially if we're really honest or friendly because they'd just come back from the they just come back from the Club World Cup and haven't played in a couple of months but that's the only thing I can really think of where we've actually sort of, we can hang a hat on other than you can maybe argue the Champions League games or whatever but there's just nothing to reference is there, there's nothing to cling on to at all, it's almost like it's just nothingness, it's like an abyss of absolute emptiness really is how we'll look back on it I don't think, whoever the next manager is I don't think they're in danger of the Andrew Effect of, you know, where we keep talking about Thomas Rank every single defeat or whatever, like people do with Ange and I do myself sometimes.
14:04Because it just, there's nothing attached to it at all, is it? It's like, it's just existing.
14:10Jack:I don't think there is another manager either in our lifetimes that has united the fan base in this way. Like, I even heard dissenting voices about Pochettino, even at the peak of his powers. Do you know what I mean? There were some people that weren't fully on board, even though, to be honest, it was like 99 % of Spurs fans adored Pochettino, so I'm not going to create a struggle where there isn't one. But I think with Thomas Frank, we're talking, you know, stats lads, we're talking proper football men, Gammons, Snowflakes, the lot, everybody, wants this fella out, don't they? Pretty basically everybody other than Arsenal fans.
14:51Yeah, and I know that after every single game at the moment, someone will do a poll saying Frank in or Frank out, and it's like literally high 90s, isn't it? And you just know that the other 4 % or whatever are some Arsenal fans on Twitter. And I saw you tweeting about this yesterday. It's actually getting to the point where it's becoming a bit uncomfortable. Like, I don't like Frank at all or anything that he stands for in football. And I don't actually... I think the nice guy thing is a bit overrated. Actually, I don't think, you know, some of the things that he says sometimes, it's like, oh, you're actually a nice guy, or do you just have a really good sort of capability of appearing that way?
15:25But on a human level, like the scenes last night when he's walking in the away end and getting absolute dogs abuse, and I think you were saying similar, like at some point it's becoming a bit uncomfortable on a human level. We have to end this now. For him on a human level as well, for example, next weekend against Man City, and it was the same at Dortmund as well. He's one home result from the stadium going absolutely apoplectically angry, I think. We're lucky at the moment. And, you know, after that West Ham game, I think that was a real turning point. I think that's the end of the road for any fan.
15:58I think the West Ham game has ended any sort of chance of, well, maybe we should give a bit more time or whatever. And I think the next home game that we have a really bad performance in, which will probably be at the weekend, it could get really, really ugly. So I think on a human level, the incompetence of this board to actually make a sort of a decision, you know, Frank's the one who has to bear the brunt of it on a human level, which is becoming a bit uncomfortable. And I want him to go more than anyone, but those scenes last night where he's walking past you and it's really sort of vitriolic, even his worst fans or his lowest frank supporters, you don't want to see that scene really.
16:41Jack:I don't know, there's something about it just on a, like you say, on some sort of human level that it's just uncomfortable seeing anybody really subjected to that. because he's definitely not a bad guy is he i think he's a bit of i think he's a bit cringe and a bit like some of the things he says really makes my hair stand on my arms because it's you know i find him really cringe to listen to at times and he's been on like the high performance podcast whatever but um and that's very him isn't it that is like yeah now you understand and a lot of people have been talking about this as well um you know why doesn't the media stick up for him so much it's because he's in there with the high performance crowd isn't it that's why you know as soon as you go on that broadcast you get like an immediate media sort of backing him forever as being one of the good guys.
17:22But he's not a horrible person. Like, you know, he hasn't, he's not committed war crimes or anything like that. And yeah, I mean, the stuff that he's going to be subjected to if they keep him in the job much longer, it's going to get worse and worse and worse.
17:34Jack:I mean, I just, it's, it's quite baffling, isn't it, that he does manage to be this Teflon because, you know, I tried to put forward the sort of the devil's advocate argument, but surely they can see that whatever we think about the squads, whatever we think about the way in which it's been assembled, all the stuff that we've spoken about and every other podcast has spoken about, there are players here that are definitely better than the level that they're showing. I just find it baffling that the people who are running the club, unless they truly do have zero understanding of actual football football as a game as opposed to the business of it how you can look at this bloke and think yes this is the man we want steering this enormous sporting franchise that we've built it's it's just it's it's kind of mad isn't it it's like sitting me in an f1 car you know and sort of saying yeah go on let this lad have a go because he hasn't got any points on his license at all.
18:45Jack:So he'll probably be alright. It's baffling because it's so abundantly clear that he just isn't cut out for it at this level. And the comparison is made a lot with Graham Potter. Him going to Chelsea. And I think it's a sound one. It's a manager coming from another setup where there's there's a setup that's bigger than just the manager, right? It's one big functioning machine, which Tottenham Hotspur Football Club is anything but. But what we have shown is we do have a platform. We have a significant platform whereby if somebody can just get a handle on it, you know, Antonio Conte managed to do that for a season.
19:33Jack:You know, and you would probably say he's one of the best managers going right now, if you like. He managed to get a handle on it. So it shows that it can be done, even if it did wildly sip out of his control. But that was, you know, Daniel Levy, it was a different time, whatever. Maybe these lot are actually going to spend more money, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. My point is, it feels abundantly clear that Thomas Frank just says, I mean, look at that Burnley game. I mean, if we look at the Burnley game, he was being tactically out-thought by Scott Parker. Scott Parker made changes that Thomas Frank couldn't deal with until, what, the 79th, 80th minute or so when he started to make changes.
20:11Jack:I can't remember at what point he started to make changes, but he was so slow to react to it. And I think I'm pretty sure you must have been the same as me, Bill, because I was sat there saying to basically, you know, pretty much any other Spurs fan I was talking to at the time, this has Burnley winner written all over it now. The performance had just gotten so drab. The game had gotten so drab and Spurs were knocking on the door with minimum. I mean, we weren't even knocking on the door. We were just meandering around outside the front of it, hoping that she'd open the door and invite us in type thing.
20:41Jack:Do you know what I mean? Like we weren't really doing anything. Whereas every time Burnley came forwards, there was menace about it. And it looked like we were terrified. And then obviously, lo and behold, they ended up, you know, ended up making a fall out of Romero, out of Mickey van der Ven, and a doggy with one goal. It was mad. And yes, I can take the point on that maybe we overrate some of those players, some of those I've just mentioned there, but they are still good players. They're clearly rattled by the fact that there's just no real plan here. It's relied on another Hail Mary from Christian Romero.
21:23Jack:Again, again, one of our top scorers this season. I've moaned about him in the past, but I don't know how anyone's still complaining about him because he's basically our Harry Kane this season, isn't he? Zootopia 2 has come home to Disney+. I saw someone else tweet this yesterday as well, and I completely agree. I don't think Christian Romero, to score a hero goal, is anything to do with you, anything to credit Thomas Frank. Well, I think he's almost doing it by himself, isn't he? it's almost like he's ignoring all tactical plans and all kind of semblance of a structure and just going, I'm just going to go up front and knock this one in.
23:31And the funny thing is he keeps doing it and he keeps working as well. I don't think Thomas Rank's plan is, right, let's build up through the wide areas and then Christian Romero, you leave our entire defence exposed and go and score a header. It's just Christian Romero being the main character syndrome that he is and trying to save us. And somehow it keeps working week on week. You know, it's happened a few times a season. And yeah, it's just, it's really, and that, you know, that Burnley game, particularly the second half, and even the first half, if you're really, really honest. I just watch us and there's no sort of, there's no intention of what we actually are supposed to be trying to do.
24:08Like, I think you could maybe argue that it's sort of get the ball wide to Poro and knock it down the line and cross in. But it's so ineffective at times. And we have to, you know, have about 15 crosses before one goes in or something like that. But there's absolutely no semblance of a plan of who to pass to when and stuff like that. And it's just so disjointed. And we're saying that the alarm bells are ringing back in the Chelsea game and things like that when we were watching that horrific performance, thinking, God, we have no idea what to do. But we're over halfway through the season now. And it's a big enough sample size, I think, that this is going nowhere.
24:40And it's been going nowhere for a very long time. I think that's two wins in 14 now or something like that. and I think the fact of the matter is that we're in a relegation form at a time where unfortunately the teams below us you know, Nottingham Forest have picked up a point against Arsenal and then gone and beaten Brentford away West Ham are beating us and then beating Sunderland two really decent teams I think, you know, we're sleepwalking at the moment if we sleepwalk any further we could get really, you know, dragged in right at the end of the season into a really uncomfortable situation
25:11Jack:Just Spence what do you think about the experiment the Gareth Bale-ification of Jed Spence? Where are you at on it? I think that experiment is over, to be honest with you. I think Jed Spence is a fantastic player and I think he's actually been one of our better players this season under Thomas Frank. I just don't think it works because he's just so right-footed. And I think finally what we saw in this game for the first time in ages is Jed Spence playing right-back. And I think Parra has been absolutely woeful for a good number of games now. and I don't particularly blame him because he's played every single game for about three seasons and he's not had any rotation at all and now finally well it looked all intents and purposes that we might be bringing Ando Robertson so we'd have two left backs and obviously a teenage left back in Souza you might finally be able to see Jed Spence play right back but the left win thing doesn't really doesn't really work for me and I was sort of and this is a major blot for me on Thomas Frank is I've been really baffled by his treatment of Tell saying that you know he said in the Champions League presser before game you know if I had all my players available Tell would be starting this game and then he swaps him out for Solanke and fair enough that worked on the night and the next game he doesn't start him on the left and he puts a right back or a left back playing left wing and I know Spence had a pretty good game against Dortmund but in reality I just I think he looks a bit uncomfortable trying to cut it onto his right foot I just don't think it works for me and I think I'd love just Jed Spence now to spend the rest of the season playing right back where I think he's a really really good player but um I think I kind of think that game will end it because I just think Tao is an actual left winger like why aren't we playing an actual left winger there rather than a right back makeshift left makeshift left back shoehorn him in because he's really good with the ball but yeah for me I want to see Jed Spence play right back what about you um i i didn't actually this is the problem mate you know i'm sort of in that roll the dice mindset i did think it i thought it worked quite well against dortmund um you know i won't pretend otherwise i quite enjoyed watching it yeah and then against burnley i feel like i was watching it and sort of sat there like this isn't good i but i want this to work do you know what i I mean, just so there's something, so there's at least something to cling on to.

27:31Jack:I don't know. It's like there's that clamour of excitement that maybe this could be a Gareth Bale. Maybe he's not going to get that good, but we could suddenly have this game-changing thing on our hands. A doggy Spence bossing the left-hand side of the pitch, but you just kind of watch that and you're just like, this ain't working, is it? I think the reason for that is we all think the same thing. and we're definitely thinking against Dortmund is because Jed Spence has so much personality in a team that has barely any. He's one of those players that, whatever the situation Tottenham are in, he's sort of his own entity really and he backs himself so much.
28:11And we see it from his online posts and his personality. He's incredibly strong-willed and arrogant. You could label, or confident you could label, depending on which side of the dice you roll on. But Jed Spence has got so much personality. And, you know, I was saying to a friend, I know this is, you know, thinking way down the line, but I just think someone like Pochettino would absolutely love to get their hands on Judge Spence. Just so much talent there, isn't there? And if you give Judge Spence to like a proper, proper coach, there's so much to work with there. I think it could be really exciting.
28:48Jack:And there's so many players that I just look, that I think, let's just say Pochettino for argument's sake. Can I ask you on that note? Because this is a bit of a culture on Twitter at the moment. I thought Odebeer was really good yesterday. And I really rate Odebeer. I think he's younger than Dane Scarlett. And he's sort of treated like he's this 28-year-old winger in their prime and gets slated all the time as being the bastion of Tottenham's failed transfer policy. I think there's another one. Imagine Pochettino getting his hands on Odebeer. I thought he was brilliant yesterday. And I think there's so many problems at Tottenham before we have to worry about Wilson Odebe, who I think is just a young winger who's trying to do things and is doing things.
29:35He's got three assists in his last two games. But for me, he's a perfect example. Imagine not Pochettino getting his hands on Odebe.
29:42Jack:Well, he's just, as I sort of keep rabbiting on about on here, he's just another victim of the club's poor transfer policy. Like sign Odebe, but sign a first team ready player. Because like you say, what it's leading to is a young player, a very young player, getting thrust into games, into a situation that the club is in right now, way ahead of a time that he probably should be. You know, Odder Bear is the type of player that Manchester City sign, and he's just there sort of being nurtured for two, three, four, six. Look at how long it took him to even play Phil Foden, right? Remember that whole thing for years?
30:22Jack:When is Pep going to play full Foden? And he wasn't going to sort of bow to it. And I get Manchester City are a very different example. We can't always compare ourselves to them. However, you know, you sign an Odderbeer for whatever it was we spent, around 30 mil, was it? 25 mil, something like that. I think we spent on Odderbeer. Are you telling me there weren't other players like a Trossard, who can cost not a lot that you can put into the first team ahead of them? you know that gives it just adds a bit of insulation a bit of protection for somebody like Odeber but we haven't done that we've chucked him into a team that desperately needs you know an attacking player to perform to a really high level to pretty much dig us out of this to allow us to get over the loss of like Sonny and the Son and Kane partnership in general really and we've we've handed that to what uh when we signed him 18 19 year old kid um and also to go with that is a massive price tag like yeah it's going to lead it's going to lead people to to complain and i know people say you shouldn't hold it against them look that's just what football is like that's just what people are going to do but i do think people are incorrect like you say i i I think it of Tell and I think it of Odeber.
31:38Jack:I don't get the angry reaction about them as players. I can understand being frustrated about the situation at hand, but the writing them off, the calling them useless and all this, because I think even objectively that is untrue. I just don't believe that. Again, in the interest of balance, I do think a lot of people on the other side of the argument are perhaps fluffing up quite how good his performance was yesterday, which I think doesn't really help. You know, I'm seeing some people talking about the facts. Literally, I saw somebody earlier say, this could be our next Gareth Bale and people are slating him.
32:18Jack:I'm like, let's just calm it down on that sort of thing a bit. You know, I get it, hyperbole and all that type of thing. I think he's a young man, isn't he? He's so young, unbelievably young. He is talented, but, you know, it's the club again. It's the club making these kind of mistakes. I mean, look, you know, let's talk about relegation, mate, because look, we are, let's see, after the weekend, we are, so we're three points above Nottingham Forest, who are in 17th place. And we're eight points ahead of West Ham, who seem to be finding some form right now. And Leeds play tomorrow, is that right?
32:57Jack:Who, who's that? Leeds play tomorrow. Yeah, Leeds have got Everton away, so, you know. probably will lose that probably we'll see on that one yeah exactly um but when we look at our february it's you know jokes aside you know and i know there's this there is this level of like catastrophizing and everybody's sort of saying you know this is terrible but when you actually look at that february and you consider the fact that we are pretty close to the drop zone it ain't looking good i mean what i would say the other caveat to that is if you actually look at West Ham's fixtures they have a particularly unpleasant February as well which again could be a bit of a saving grace for us yeah exactly so it's it's not looking particularly rosy for them either um and whether or not Spurs do go down like I would I would like to think that we don't I just think it's crazy that we are even having these conversations and I don't mean it's crazy as in like god the Spurs fans are allowing themselves to get wound up about this like we we are not we're not in a good place um what was it Sean Morsh let me just say quickly Sean Morsh tweeted something um really quite stark yesterday uh just while you're looking for that just on that note as well Forrest's next three fixtures are Palace, Leeds and Wolves two of those at home so Great.
34:24In my heart, it's of hearts. I don't think we'll go down, but I think there's a genuine chance we could finish 16th or 17th, which in back-to-back seasons would be absolutely insane.
34:34Jack:Because again, if that bleeds over again, how many times do we get those seasons where we're just about all right before we get the season that we go? And you have to look at West Ham, right? We're basically essentially, we're like a year behind them. They've just flirted with finishing 15th, 16th for every season for about two years and then one season, suddenly one of the championship teams is really good in Sunderland, then you're in big trouble. We're heading that way if we don't drastically change what we're doing. So Sean tweeted, or zeted as I'm seeing people say now, Spurs still without a domestic win in 2026.
35:13Jack:They've played Brentford, Bournemouth, Sunderland, Aston Villa, West Ham and Burnley.
35:22I don't think this is contrasting this is just thinking logically if you can't pick up any points in those games when your next games are Man City Newcastle, Arsenal and Man United and Man United obviously much resurgent Man United where are the points coming from that could be another four games there with no win and then suddenly we're in the middle of February with no win in 2026 we're heading into a disaster at the moment unless we do something really, really quickly and I think Man United have been the perfect case example if you just change a manager sometimes and get someone else in suddenly things can really quickly because the reality is also that we're about as far away from top five as we are from the relegation zone the league is so poor this year if we just do something to turn it around then we could very quickly be looking at a completely different picture but at the moment there's only one way that we're heading
36:15Jack:I mean the same that happened with Newcastle right like Newcastle were I think they were even beneath us a few games ago and now they I mean they didn't have a very good result today but Villa are you know on one this season but you know it's taken it took Newcastle two three games of I think they won three games three four games and got a draw maybe they won three got a draw and in right back up in the mix. Villa started the season absolutely atrociously didn't they and they didn't score for three games. And then suddenly you start believing in winning and then you're right up in a title race almost, you know.
36:52Jack:I know this is the whole like... And like Chelsea are now fourth. Rosinha has come in and won four out of five games. Things can change very, very quickly. Like Man United and Chelsea, look what the change in the manager's done for those two teams. So we have to act soon, otherwise we're going to get really into this. I know this is the whole like, oh, it's annoying because they were bad when we were really good. but I and yeah I know Matty Cash and I know their fans are weird and all that type of stuff but I actually wouldn't mind Villa winning the league if I'm like brutally honest with you there's something about it that I quite like the idea of in a way or are you just totally not on that page Bill?
37:30No no no I'd well I'd obviously my ultimate preference would be City but you know I really am a big fan of what they're doing actually I think they I really like how in this sort of the Tom and it's not it's probably it's probably not the Thomas Frankification, but it's like the somethingification, you know, where everyone's worried about XG and like you can't have long shots anymore because it's a low XG chance and it's really bad in terms of percentage. I like how villagers don't do that and they're just like, right, let's just smash it.
37:58Jack:Emery's quality, isn't he? Emery is quality. Yeah, that's the football I kind of watched when I was growing up in the 2000s. You know, people just absolutely levering it from outside the box. Let's do it. I mean, it's quite funny, isn't it? I mean, look, they still might actually win everything. I know they've had to blip this afternoon, Arsenal, but it is, you know, I guess this is going to be one of those things where people will say like, you know, well, you haven't been saying this about Thomas Frank, but you would probably say Emery inherited chaos at Arsenal, right? It was a particularly tumultuous time for that club.
38:35Jack:Had they stuck with him, I reckon they'd be absolutely barnstorming now. I think they would be absolutely... I mean, look, you can't say that for certain, but the type of football that he has Villa playing, and I know they've spent a bit of money, but still, I think it would be disingenuous to suggest that Aston Villa aren't still punching above their weight a bit with the way that they're playing. Or they're below us and all the revenue tables and all the expenditure tables. They look like they belong there. I mean, they're like us under Pochettino. That's exactly what they are. I watch them play and I'm like, they are really good.
39:15And I can't, again, like I said,
39:17Jack:I know their fans are annoying and all those other caveats, but I can't hate this because they look really good. They play, as you say, really attractive football. I enjoy watching them play Newcastle before the Arsenal game. And I enjoyed it. It was a good game to watch, you know? And that FA Cup game was so stark, wasn't it? The way that they absolutely dominated us. Oh, it wasn't even a comparison, mate. We had to text string together. I had to chalk and cheese on anything that we can sort of create. And I watched them play Man United as well. That was a really good game. And they had us, you know, people like Morgan Rodders just absolutely flying.
39:50And Buendia is now kicking on. And yeah, just an absolute mile away from anything that we've produced all season.
39:57Jack:I think the thing I struggle with, though, I'm looking at Villa's team. I'm looking at their squad. And, you know, I look at... The point is, it's hard to lose the frame of reference that is now, how these players are performing right now. But do I look at, like, their squad and think it's really... The point is, they're all performing at a very high level right now. But do I look at them on an individual basis, other than a few outliers, you know, like you say, somebody like a Morgan Rodgers, somebody like an Emi Buendia who's playing, you know, ridiculously well as well. Amadou Inanna who, you know, I think we were linked to a lot who, you know, is fantastic.
40:39Jack:But, you know, you look at them and you think, I don't think they are like my, I mean, maybe I'm deluded, maybe I'm a deluded Spurs fan, but I don't look at them man for man and think they are miles better than Spurs. They're definitely better than us. I don't think they're miles better than us. it's just to your point that good coaching a good manager can turn you into a decent side can't they oh completely and if you'd have asked that same question at the beginning of the season after the transfer window and you compared the teams 11 for 11 i'm sure almost every spurs fan would think right well we've you know we're better in every single department they'd probably only you'd probably only swap maybe morgan rogers and maybe a couple of others if you're generous maybe the goalkeeper morgan rogers but man for man you know with the reputation of our players in summer, you think, right, there's not many people I would take.
41:25Like the back four of Tottenham has got this massive, you know, Udogi, Poro, Van de Ven, Romero. There's so much individual quality there, which we haven't seen all season, really. I mean, from a defensive point of view, definitely from an offensive point of view with Romero and Van de Ven. But it just shows like the coaching. And people keep saying, well, our squad is absolutely terrible. There's nothing any manager can do with this lot. But Aston Villa are almost a case study in the opposite of that because man for man, at the beginning of the season, I don't think you would have swapped many of those Villa players for swatting them, but he has them playing in a genuine title race.
41:57They beat Man City and destroyed us this season. They beat Arsenal. It's the power of coaching. Emery has done that all of his career, other than a spell which didn't work out at Arsenal. But look at what he's achieved in Spain and stuff. He's an unbelievable coach. It would be a dream world. it'd be interesting we link with every other coach I know that Aston Villa always have their finance problems but imagine if there's a world where in some way you go and pay Emery 10 million a year or whatever because he's just levels above what we see at the moment I love someone with that kind of coach and him and Pochettino are quite similar in a way because they're very passionate they've got very very good individual player coaching and they have a really nuclear system and you know just sort of like it's both attacking and also never a pushover in defense is it it's like it's just yeah it's everything it's everything that you want in your
42:58Jack:football team really they say you should learn something new every day like how you should only drink jägermeister at zero degrees fahrenheit ice cold like those frozen cavemen they find which makes you wonder what would a caveman think of jägermeister well if you served it warm he'd probably throw it in your face say unga bunga and storm off and nobody wants that so drink it cold or not at all? Jägermeister. Damn, that's cold. Drink responsibly. Jägermeister liqueur, 35 % alcohol by volume. Imported by Mast Jägermeister, U.S., White Plains, New York. Spring is here, and the shopping list is long.
43:31Jack:Time to make a Lowe's run. Buy three bags, get three free of stay green one cubic foot garden soil. Plus, right now, members can earn four times the points on an eligible purchase. Start spring off strong with these deals and more. Our best lineup is here at Lowe's.
43:57Jack:You know you need fiber for a healthy gut, but do you actually know how to get it? Quaker's been serving up fiber since 1877, with over 100 great-tasting, good-source-of-fiber options to choose from. Whether you like old-fashioned oats, instant oatmeal, granola or oatmeal squares, Quaker makes it delicious. Mmm, so good. Get your fiber with Quaker. Shop Quaker's good source of fiber products at a store near you. You see, the man Paul O 'Keefe said that we have made tentative inquiries about Xavi Alonso. I mean, there's no... You put it yourself last week of that tweet, didn't you, about the Dua Lipa dad?
44:44That's the intentative inquiry there.
44:46Jack:There's just no, I don't know, I'm not even trying to like, you know, be Mr. Pessimistic about it. I just don't think for Xavi Alonso, it really makes sense right now, does it? Yeah, the only thing is for Tottenham, and it's historically true, and this is why I never buy into the thing, well, who would come and manage Tottenham at the moment? And I never buy into that because we pay managers massive wages. Like we, you know, Frank is the third highest paid manager in the league at the moment. And Conte was on 15 million a year. And if we paid Frank, if we paid Xavi Hernandez, Frank's wages, he'd be on double what he was on at Barcelona.
45:21We pay, we pay managers huge wages, but Alonso doesn't particularly strike me as someone that's money oriented. He's sort of much more switched on.
45:29Jack:I almost feel like as well, he's done the, because one of the things I always think is I think Tottenham is a good challenge because if you win something significant with Tottenham you're the guy that did it with Tottenham and I think that that is that I do think that is a big carrot for managers to come to us however he's sort of done that with never Cusen so in the ultimate way really like breaking the biggest monopoly that there is you know I don't know if that I think probably the the thing for him now is probably give me the Chelsea job or give me do you know I mean the easy right I don't know mate I don't I don't know the bloke actually to be honest and I would imagine as well you know his heart might be set on Liverpool you know he got burned by Real Madrid maybe we'll go home next I think we're so insecure as a fan base at the moment and and always have been you know because we've you know going back to the 2000s when we sold people like Gareth Bale all the time and Berbatov and stuff like that um we'd just be constantly looking over our shoulder wouldn't me thinking well when's he going to go to Liverpool when's he going to go back to a big club or Bayern Munich and I just think like his ceiling is so far beyond Tottenham that it's it would it would never work out it would either he'd either have a really good season and then wanted to go and manage Bayern Munich or it would just it just wouldn't go down a blaze of glory I think I think this is the thing for me because I get why people want Nile Guzman or Xavi Alonso somebody like that I just I'm not saying that Spurs can never get those managers I just think right now we need somebody to jolt a bit of life back into what we are now.
46:58Jack:And that is genuinely, and I will keep repeating this, that is what I think Pochettino could do for Spurs. I'm not sat here. I genuinely don't think he will or would be capable of continuing the last time he was our manager, right? I don't think he would improve on that. I don't think that we would win the league or win the Champions League or something like that with him. but what I do think he could do is just put a bit of love back into the club bring the fans and the you know the fans and the players a bit closer together get a bit of a buzz about the place because we just feel like we're on life support right now you know and um the thing is with Pochettino it's a unique situation because like Xavi Xavi sorry and and Xavi to an extent with Barcelona but Xavi you're always thinking well one day he's going to go to Liverpool and one day he's going to go to Bayern Munich but for that's for Potashino that's us like we are his his we are his dream and that's you know amazing that a manager who isn't even English who isn't from Tottenham he's not an academy player or something like that but we are his true love and vice versa you know that and that's something which no other manager in world football is probably unless they've already played for Tottenham like someone like you know even Glenn Odell hates us do you know what I mean like Harry Kane hates us Glenn Odell hates us you know the I felt like even someone half competent like Potashino, we are his Liverpool in Xabi Alonso.
48:20We are his ceiling. We are his everything. We can't waste it, surely. It's one of those things. I know he's been speaking about this for years. And everyone's been talking, everyone's thought it since the day that he left. And so has he. He's mentioned it in every interview going. It's just one of those itches that just will never be scratched until we finally do it, right?
48:40Jack:you are you see that Slott said he's not going to let Andy Robertson go or he said that nobody's leaving he needs all hands on deck did they get an injury or something like that I don't really know what inspired that yeah it's just typical but what I have also read is that I read that Robertson apparently said bye to the Liverpool fans yesterday I haven't actually seen and looked into it but and I think I know David Ornstein not David David Onsen, sorry, Romano was saying today that talks were ongoing. I wonder if one of those ones where he's such a light club legend there that they might just be like, a bit like we did with Sonny, where they're just like, right, if this is what you want, you can just do it.
49:20Because I know Slott is saying that he's not going to let anyone go, but I don't know. Hopefully, it'll just be one of those things where they say, because of everything you've done for us, you've won everything. You've got to go on a free next summer anyway.
49:33Jack:That's a bit chastening though, isn't it? That we're so unthreatening to them now. With a donkey sanctuary for one of their, do you know what I mean? With a glue factory for one of their old horses. Yeah, exactly. Bloody hell. It would have been, it wasn't even that long, it would have been, what, a couple of seasons ago, where Liverpool would be thinking, you know, we can't tell a player to Tottenham, what if they finish above us? But now we're the donkey sanctuary. What do you, I mean, what do you insert yourself into this, into this culture war as well, Billy? Because I think, I get it. I get that, you know, we want to be signing, you know, better players, basically.
50:12Jack:Let's be honest. We want to be signing players in their prime that cost loads of money, all that type of thing, right? But as we sort of say there, we are a bit donkey sanctuary at the moment. I don't, I just think people have been way dramatic, like the sort of the revulsion that they've treated this Andy Robertson deal with. I feel like it, I get it. Like, I get why we would do that. I think, look, I'm coming at this from the perspective that I don't anticipate that he would play many games for us, and I don't anticipate that he would actually be here for that long. It's got whiffs of an 18-month jobby.
50:47Jack:Do you know what I mean? Yeah, and it's not like we're replacing a new jobby. An 18-month jobby probably isn't the best language to use when talking about a Scotsman, but still, you know. And it's not like we're replacing a new doggy and thinking, right, let's sell your doggy and bring Robertson. We're replacing Bend-Avis. Exactly, exactly. so it just makes sense on every single level and you know he's one of those players I can guarantee I know exactly what happened with Andy Robertson is that as soon as he joins Tottenham he'll become massively popular with the fans just because he's such like a bit like Madison almost and when he plays with another team you hate him because he's such a strong personality and a bit of a banter merchant and it's a bit like John McGinn as well as the same genre of player they're so horrible when they're against you but as soon as they join the team you fall in love really quickly because he's just such a big character.
51:32He's so well-liked by Liverpool. And I see that they're in their own culture at the moment. I see a lot of their fans are desperate to keep him and they don't want him to go because I think obviously Kerk has not exactly set the world alight this season by any stretch of the imagination, despite him being a really big high-profile transfer. And I just think if he joined Tottenham, he would very, very quickly become a fan favourite, to be honest. Do you... He's a classic in the gets-it genre, isn't he? Well, this is it.
52:00Jack:I mean, this is what I wanted to talk about because I feel like, you know, I get it. I know how the internet works, right? I understand battle lines get drawn and people don't like to, you know, cross the picket line or that sort of thing, right? I get it. but i just feel like this this absolute like rejection of proper football man qualities right the idea that experience because i see people scoff at it the idea that experience a winner's mentality and stuff literally means nothing i just think it's like i just i don't know i just don't i don't buy that because it does and it's not just a football thing in any workplace in any type of work in any type of social social situation you can see that like you can even apply it you can even apply it to like the the mates that you go down the pub or whatever with this person brings this quality that person brings that bit there's all these people that have their own sort of social cohesion that that that makes like a social intangible if you like that makes up the bigger picture yes i am comparing a premier league footballing operation to going down the pub.
53:11Jack:But, you know, that's what I am. I'm the pub philosopher here, right? I don't think you can write out proper football man attributes, can you? No, and it's sort of the, like the stratification of football, you know, is something I generally believe in. And I do think it's really interesting to... Same. I don't reject it at all. It's just you have to go hand in hand. And they call them like intangibles, won't they? But you can't just reduce football to stats because it's played by humans. It's a human game played by humans. It's not a game played by robots and AI or whatever. It's humans. And humans are influenced by so many social factors.
53:48And you're in a team dynamic that if you just reduce it to simply percentages and stats and stuff, it takes out the human element. And Robertson is – I actually did, interestingly enough, see that he's actually a better progressive passer stats-wise than any of our midfielders, which is quite interesting as well. That's pretty wild, but not surprising, is it? Yeah. but Robertson is a human signing rather than a stat signing isn't he and I think I think you have to have a mixture of both like I think you can't you know it would be great if you were sort of
54:19Jack:doing everything by he's such a bastard like there are so many times down the years even when they were at their best right and he was good he was you know I mean people talk about him like you know he's washed he's clapped he's obviously he's like he's 31 years old but there were so many games i remember playing against them when you know when we used to have wars our teams right and i never really reflected on andy robertson as being like yeah he was a good player they're gonna be wrong but i don't look back on those sort of battles we'd had with liverpool and thought god he was such an incredible player he he hurt us so much because of his footballing ability i always remember him being the one that like lit a fire under so many of his other teammates that rattled us like rattled the tottenham crowd would wind us up you know all his goggles and all that stuff i used to hate him do you know what i mean again isn't he so so again like him and again they're like two peas in a pod he's got under under the skin of us so many times and i think he's like he's the perfect club player isn't he really like he's just everything that club epitomizes like just absolute rock and roll football and like characters and stuff it's just exactly what it is on a side note did you see that um did you see the debate yesterday about saying he's 31 and someone was like, oh, why are we signing him?
55:34He's 32. And then someone replied, oh, no, he's 31. And he's like, yeah, but he's 32 in five weeks. So he's basically 32.
55:41Jack:Was this done without, do you know what I mean? No, it wasn't trying to parrot the arse or thing, but it was genuine. And it was like, well, he's 32 in five weeks, so he's actually 35. Jesus Christ. So when he turns 32, he just magically stops all sort of football ability. can I give you my sort of slightly problematic opinion about Andy Robertson as well and I do err on the side of caution because I know about you know your your personal situation your other half and everything is that uh I like the idea of having a Scotsman in the team because I just think I think they're hard do you know what I mean you know like I just you know like I remember Alan Hutton back in the day.
56:26She only lives there. She's not Scottish, don't worry.
56:28Jack:Oh, really? Okay, all right. That's fine then. Like, Alan Hutton, like, wasn't the best player, but he was hard, you know? It's like, yeah, make Tottenham Scottish again is what. We don't have a history of many... It's like that story, isn't it, of apparently Alan Hutton, didn't he beat up his dad on the night out or something? Yeah. In Tottenham or something. They just went down the pub and got in a punch-up and then I think it was all laughed off as that's just what we do, you know? Yeah, it was his own dad. I mean, who's, you know, Dave Mackay, you know, like it's one of the clubs like, you know, that's something I would get behind.
57:01Jack:Get some caps printed out, mate. Do you know what I mean? Tarn caps. That'll go down well. No, on a serious note though, on that, I absolutely love Scottish people. I think they're the best, like the banter and all that. I love what they, you know, the kind of, you know, it was like a few years ago in particular, was it at Pete? But, you know, like the Scottish Twitter thing, And I think Andy Robertson is so Scottish. He's not one of those Scottish people that are basically English. He's proper Scotsman, isn't he? He proper epitomises all that sort of banter and stuff that they have. Yeah, I mean, I was buzzing as well when they qualified for the World Cup because, you know, it's just its quality.
57:40Jack:I know they find it all patronising. There's Scots that listen to this, and I'm sorry, I'm not trying to pat you on the head and say, oh, well done, Bonnie Wee lad. Do you know what I mean? But it's like, it's good, you know? I think they're, you know, just hard, good people. people do you know what there isn't a single scotsman that isn't hard that's just do you know i mean that's just how it works bill you know not to not to typecast but yeah the documentary proves that uh uh inter milan after vicario apparently their top target this summer good right i don't know oh yeah i mean again yesterday was another so he does that thing and it's the kind of the latter stage of Hugo Lloris' career who was obviously a much better goalkeeper than Vicaria and one of the best ever but you know when they kind of they don't directly lead to a goal but they kind of do it's like that first goal in particular Vicaria just booting it out again and he's so bad of his distribution and I'm just at the stage now where I watch everything and I'm just thinking you could have done a bit like coming for the cross in the first half or something like that there's just no presence in the boxes there I think he's way too in his head with the whole Tottenham fans and after that Fulham thing.
58:52And he gets very, very emotional very quickly. He's got no calmness, no composure about him whatsoever. And I think it'd be best for everyone to move on from Vicario, which is a shame because I absolutely adore his parents.
59:08Jack:Before we go, mate, I did want to see, just because while we started recording, I saw the notice came out from Change for Tottenham about action ahead of the Manchester City game. Do you want to give us any inside info or whatever? I mean, that's not inside info. Just tell us about it. Tell us about what's happening, what the notice is about. Obviously, we're at a really interesting point in our sort of the Lewis family here at the moment. I think everyone sort of admits that we're in crisis mode. And we're going for something slightly different this time because we had a protest, which we've got loads of media coverage for.
59:49We're going with a slightly different tack this time is that we're going to do something inside the stadium and we want people that will go into the game that will be up for supporting it and to get in touch. Because, you know, we feel like we've kind of done the whole stand outside the stadium and march outside the stadium thing to death and we want to try something a bit different. So what we're trying to find is people that are up for getting involved inside the stadium to get in touch with us and we will put you in touch with our plans. So we're not sort of committing to or publishing public plans this time.
1:00:18We're kind of putting the onus on people who want to come to us and support it. It's going to be a little bit more low-key, but hopefully as impactful, we're going to send another message. But anyone that's going to the Man City game and would like to get involved, just go on to the Change for Tottenham Twitter, and there's a QR code on there where you can get involved in a WhatsApp group where we will be publishing all the plans and stuff. I just kind of feel like we are... Where are we? We're at the 25th. Well, it's the end of the 25th today. So it'll be the 26th by the time this comes up tomorrow.
1:00:49You know, six days left in the transfer window. We're in a crisis and the transfer window is not reflecting that whatsoever so far. And I think Gallagher, Robertson, they're absolutely fine signings, but fine is the word that I would use. I wouldn't say they reflect the fact that we could be getting dragged into a relegation battle. So we're hoping that hopefully some fans will join us and put some more pressure onto the board because it's just, so far, I just feel like they had a massive opportunity this season to think right Daniel Levy's gone we're going to go a completely new direction do this this and this and so far it just seems to be more of the
1:01:23Jack:same right it does it you know I think I know so I know there's the classic thing going on at the moment online of like oh even Levy wasn't this bad I wish we could get Daniel Levy back and the fact that that's even a thing is is depressing in a state but that's the situation that we're in And it's like making even the past seem competent. Well, I mean, they threw him under the bus, didn't they? It's basically shown you that when they wanted to get rid of him, they were able to. So what have we been doing for the past however long? It's been easy for them to be sort of quiet and skulk around and not take any of the blame for the situation that we find ourselves in now.
1:01:59I was, you know, made no secrets to the fact that I was not a Daniel Levy fan at all, but he was a bit of a human shield for the Lewis family, wasn't he? Of course, of course. and he still is
1:02:09Jack:he still is I mean ultimately the thing that I underline is the position that we find ourselves in now is that if you consider mate we're talking about since 16, 17 Karl Walker left right and Danny Rose goes to the Sun you think about that summer that was the year to do something right is to hold on to Karl Walker is to inspire that group we've just come second in the Premier League we've gone unbeaten all season at home right take that next step don't let that go to pieces build on that but we didn't and every single transfer window since barring you know the Ndombele Lo Celso one which at the time we thought was good I'm not saying it was good in retrospect but at the time we thought it was good and ambitious right every single transfer window since then we have always said that was bad why have we signed terrible players we've replaced every single good player that we've had in our team with somebody that is below par and now we sit here above the relegation zone for the second season running that is a consequence of what they've been doing for the past near two decade now and you know the the the the chickens have come home to roost as it were um you know it's them where we find ourselves now is them it's the people in charge of the club um and i think so yeah i know we won't go into this in too much detail because you know it's a that's a whole podcast episode in itself but the frustrating thing for me is they had three offers because Tottenham are a publicly owned company they obviously have to declare the offers or whatever, they had three offers in the summer for billions of pounds and they rejected all of them with the provisor that they're actually going to have a crack with Tottenham what were you doing there, where is the crack why are you still here you could have made your billions by now I remember a few years ago 2 billion is the number, 2 billion that's now doubled to 4 or 5 billion and you know if reports are had to believe they got multi-billion pound offers in the summer they rejected it because they want to have a go at top and make them be successful where is that where is any evidence of that whatsoever there's been absolutely zero and in fact you'd have to argue the opposite at the moment that they're sort of dragging us into to misery um billy tell us a bit about where we can continue to listen to you've just launched something quite exciting um who's it with where can we watch it and also you know obviously plug all your other stuff too yeah so um just recently launched the whistleblows um podcast with a friend of this show as well uh connor who's overnight known as levy nomics i'm sure regular listeners of this would have heard him on here really good lad really good yeah really good lad and that's going on we got um go on youtube most sundays and one week time as well so yeah that's that's been uh it's been fun and um you know definitely me me and connor are already talking we'll obviously be inevitably having you on there because you know friends are both of us but um yes i know that we um i know that i always say it but i'm such a massive massive fan of this podcast i listen every single episode so yeah we definitely have to have you thank you mate yeah i'd love to um and also follow billy on on tiktok as well he's doing stuff on there which is really good it's really funny so keep it up mate i've uh i finally succumbed to the tiktok this this year fine how are you doing how are you finding it how are you enjoying it oh mate it's it's uh probably had long-term damages to my mental uh capacity to to take in anything other than one minute but yeah i love it it's like it's like vine vine reborn in there really yeah like it's it's a bit different to vine like tonally but still it's i still don't think uh anything can touch peak vine though that was that was the oh mate those are the days when they like simply spurs bankrupt all of them flying yeah i mean literally von stranino like works for television production companies now i remember it's fine you know i remember watching this is in the days of like you know when ai wasn't even even an afterthought or anything and like some of the video editing that he used to do was insane wasn't it absolutely madness the espressino and all that yeah brilliant just very very good Billy mate I appreciate it every time you're on here thank you very much thank you mate always a pleasure and hopefully next time I come on we might be out of the radiation fighting somewhere else and Arsenal lost they lost they were 10 points clear and they lost they lost we can enjoy football a little bit this weekend yes yes and I waited till the very end I waited till the very end before I spoke about them I did but they're fucking lost yes and also on the note of let it all work out yeah

Jack is joined by Billie T to react to Tottenham's last-gasp draw with Burnley.
We discuss how Cristian Romero turned goalscorer, a consistent theme this season, to snatch a point from the jaws of a terrible defeat. But the bigger question remains: how is Thomas Frank still in charge? We react to the particularly uncomfortable video of his interaction with fans after the final whistle, and discuss whether the board are ignoring the reality of a fanbase that is incredibly unhappy.
We delve into the "data vs context" debate, apparently the underlying numbers suggest a slight upturn, but does that matter when the team looks so uninspired and lacking direction?
Conversation moves to the ongoing experiment with Djed Spence in an attacking role, and the rumours linking Andy Robertson to the club. Have we become a donkey sanctuary for aging stars? We also weigh up the reports suggesting Guglielmo Vicario could be sold to Inter Milan.
Finally, Billie fills us in on the latest Change For Tottenham initiative ahead of further planned action at the Man City game.
