49Pull me out In the air crash Pull me out Of the lake Cause I'm your superhero her hero we are standing on the edge
19hello everyone good morning thomas frank is gone he's gone i'm just waiting on phil at the moment he should be coming in any moment but here to talk about it thomas frank the news that we were all hoping would happen has happened had to happen didn't it how many more times can i say happened
51um i'm sort of reeling from this one in a way not reeling because i have a lot of love for thomas frank nothing like that at all there's no kind of what can i say
13there's no feeling of regret there's no feeling of remorse there's no what could have been you know i got to the end of things with angie postocoglu and i was ready for him to go you know I was ready for him to go, but there was always a feeling with Ange what could have been. And do you know what? I tell a lie because when Ange, oh, here he is. Hello there. Phil, how are you doing, sir? I'm good. Can you actually hear me? Yeah, I can hear. That's good, isn't it? I can hear how you did get on. We are live, so don't, you know. What is it they always say? We are live, so don't swear. I'll try not to.
56you can if you want to i don't mind i don't want you to demonetize me that's all right yeah fair cheers um how are you i was i was just saying so i was just saying with ang going i felt like there was always an air of i was ready for it to happen but there could have been something maybe that third season after winning the well you know the europa something could have happened there with this with thomas strength is nothing but relief right i've been i've been trying quite hard to find the words actually this morning i'm quite sort of flabbergasted by it or i woke up just in a disgusting mood i woke up thinking if he doesn't go we are actually getting relegated they've done that they've done the decent thing right they've done the one competent thing they've done in a long time which is to get rid of him finally far too late but how are you feeling mate if you do i mean it feels like we're on a roller coaster doesn't it um a roller coaster that goes down and you can see the track um falling away in front of you um i was so despondent yesterday even sort of before the match but obviously certainly during and afterwards um i actually couldn't i mean my overriding thought at the time was they've left it too late you're right they've done the thing that they needed to do um or half of the thing that they needed to do the second half of it is getting someone who can actually kind of lift this group um i woke up this morning again all spurs fans know this feeling where you had that moment of peace before you remember last night's defeat or yesterday's game or you know the trouble we're in um i didn't even have that moment of peace this morning straight away it hit me that we were in banging trouble um and that he needed to go um i think that we discussed before the game yesterday that if he sacked do you think he'll go so if if if we lost against newcastle do you think he would go and the kind of consensus there was no because again it that it just seemed like they were going to stick with him no matter what but um yeah that's the first time i've been to the ground in a little bit i mean i went for the copenhagen game hadn't been to a league game for a little bit it was it was dire mate I can't believe they let it get that far I mean obviously you watch on tv and you get a sense of it but actually being there the empty seats the feeling because I kind of sold it to myself that oh actually maybe you know there'll be this galvanizing effect and everyone's kind of on the same page all the kind of noise doesn't matter we just need to get behind the team and you know get a win because of how precarious things are but that wasn't the case that the feeling is so bad it was almost like and again this isn't necessarily a criticism but it's got so bad that it felt like people were just like not hoping we were going to lose but expecting it and wanting to almost be vindicated by it was just such a sour bad kind of um the fact that everyone had kind of given up so um it's been a really awkward place doesn't it?
01Just like you say on that wanting to lose thing. Because it was starting to come to that point where it felt like with every win, with every mealy-mouthed sort of, I mean, every win, what wins are those? But Champions League or, say, the draws that we were eking out against likes of Burnley and stuff, you think that just gives him that little bit of extra time to hang on, gives him that little bit of time to cling on when we all can see what's happening. The club is going down. And I think last night, genuinely speaking, last night, obviously, we were saved by a 96-minute Chesco equaliser at West Ham.
41But only slightly. Like I say, the boot has just come off the neck ever so slightly. I think last night really should have been that signal to the board. Make no mistake, we're in a relegation battle. We actually are. You don't want to admit it. You don't want to look at it this way. you want to look at our nice big stadium and all the events and all that crap that we host here or whatever f1 and abseiling and all that type of stuff all the stuff that you've taken your eyes off of football to prioritize that doesn't stop your team from getting relegated and i think the cold hard reality last night was we had a pig stinking newcastle come there and absolutely take the piss.
23They were completely in control. We didn't bother them at all last night. If we're not winning games like that, I'm sorry, we're going down. And we're not out of the woods yet. We're definitely not out of the woods yet. But, as you say, something should have lifted after that, right? After the announcement this morning. Has to have done, doesn't it? Yeah, it does. And interesting, I just saw a tweet from Ali Gold talking about how basically Frank had lost the dressing room and stuff i mean i'm surprised that none of this sort of stuff came out before but i mean he was pointing to the fact that um frank had his like small core group of leadership uh players and just didn't say a word to anyone else so everyone was kind of feeling alienated now you know you might take a bit of the pinch of salt with this and this is just pr to kind of say it's not the player's fault it's you know the manager he's now gone things are going to improve which whether that's true or not that's probably the right message to start putting out because you know I'm still feeling massively despondent the way the players approached the game yesterday regardless of that the fact that the managers doesn't talk to you I don't know it just it you can't ignore the fact that the players have kind of downed tools and put us in this position as well you know that's a response to the bad management of bad coaching but you know I think we've seen certain times at the season where the players and Romero's led that charge have just thrown out what Frank is telling them to do and actually that's when we've had good periods of kind of as you say successes without actually winning any games.
57Eyes moved to the to the next appointment because if they get it wrong mate then huge huge trouble and what you know what you were saying about all kind of um and again i know this is supposed to be kind of a positive shift that we've got rid of the manager and what's coming next but you know that i can't underline enough the fact that if we got relegated this club is going to be in massive massive trouble financially certainly you know so it's mine and again it's mind-boggling that they've left it this long you know that we could have salvaged it if he'd gone in december or even january but but you know that being said they've done it now that shows that they've finally kind of accepted the fact that we are bang in trouble as you say rather than kind of just ignoring it which seemed to be the case in the weeks leading up to it so yeah not that they can do anything other than hire the right manager but yeah we just got to hope that they do the right thing You agree mate Christian Gross can breathe a sigh of relief now he's been replaced by Thomas Frank as the worst manager in at least our lifetimes absolutely I mean I think that as much as you know my memory of those times kind of a bit clouded you know I didn't used to go to games that much in those days and kind of didn't really have the means to watch the team but when we were doing was it in the summer or a while ago that what you were doing that podcast series where we were talking about our favorite kind of Spurs games and I brought up that one about where where Klinsman scored four at Sellers Park against Wimbledon, that made me look at what Christian Gross was actually like.
44And we were bad, but we weren't as bad as this, not by a long shot. Again, I don't remember the sort of passages of play. I don't remember how we kind of looked on the pitch, but we drew a lot of games. We didn't go on like massive, you know, a run of losses or anything like that. So unequivocally, he is the worst Spurs manager we've ever had. Whether he's a bad manager in his own right, that's a different debate. It doesn't really matter. He might go somewhere else. He might go Palace and do pretty well next season. But yeah, as it stands, what he's served up to us in these, how many months has it been?
20Seven months, eight months? Absolutely shocking. Literally shocking. Yeah. And if Spurs have got, I think I've seen it doing the rounds that it's been the worst vein of form Spurs have been in since like 1913 or something like that, between like 1913 and 1915 or something ridiculous. So this is categorically the worst. And, you know, I think some people, not so much anymore, but for a while some people have been saying, you know, you've been melodramatic and all this type of stuff, when I've been saying this is the worst I've seen Spurs in my life. But it is. And I agree with you. I didn't have Sky growing up.
54I wasn't watching Spurs week in, week out. but all you have to do is look at the tables you have to look at the results as you say to see that spurs were and the the thing is mate even back then we always had a sharing them we always had a klinsman we even had a les ferdinand who have we got now like honestly you know solanke is a decent enough player xavi simmons is improving but we haven't got a superstar you know We haven't got somebody that's going to really dig us out of this. We've got Kala Mawani, a player that's been begging to leave. That's what we've got for our relegation fight. We've got Mickey van der Ven that evidently thinks he's miles bigger than the club now and has done all season.
36And he's really in my crosshairs at the moment. I've really got the hump with him, I'll be honest. I thought he was atrocious last night. I thought he absolutely downed to us, but we'll save that for another day. My point is that there is more going on here. it's not all on Thomas Frank, but he has been abysmal. This has been a joke that's been allowed to continue for far too long. And again, that just points the finger at the people in charge of the club. That points the people who are at the top of things, making the decisions. Number one is Vinay Van Kateschum. Number two, Johan Langer. The two of them should be joining Frank.
12The two of them should be getting their P45s and should be out the door in summer. Like they should be gone. is total incompetence and we continue to be gaslit we continue to be told that there's more to this you don't understand you couldn't possibly understand you pee on man on the street like go back to the field surf do you know what i mean but what we can say is you always say to me phil occam's razor since these lot have come in spurs have gone do you know what i mean yeah and there's nothing more to it than that what you're just saying there about this you couldn't understand it made me think of how um christianity or catholicism back in like the middle ages was it was only in latin so only that like the clergy and only the kind of priests and the pope and everyone actually understood it so the peons like you and me that it was kept from us we were told that this is the most important thing but it was kept from us it's basically that same trick isn't it flooding this something which is essentially a sporting institution go and win a game of sport we put all these levels in we've conflated it we've confused it we've purposely made it um indecipherable to dumb dumbs like me and you if you don't mind me calling you that um but the point is that it's one of the most complimentary things you said to me to be honest you should hear what i don't say to your face yeah um but yeah it's it's just that isn't it and i think the jig is up in that sense right we can see through that they're just you know again kind kind of probably getting away from the point a bit, but yeah, huge concerns about that.
44But we have to shelf them for another day, don't we? Because we've got massively important things right in front of us. This episode is brought to you by Nespresso. 16:49It's interesting that Cochrane hasn't gone. I mean, that's probably too much. They probably left it too late to make that sort of a big change in terms of coaching because, you know, how do you go about changing that with only what, how many games is it 14 games left or something um i'm i wonder if they'll put cochran in charge for arsenal just to avoid or heitinger i mean who is it just there'll be an interim interim boss i feel like i don't know i'm just reading more into that probably than needs to be but i just wonder if they're going to kind of put him in charge because we're getting we're getting absolutely humped by Arsenal, right?
33So I just wonder if they're like, let's get that one out of the way and then we can start the kind of, the new manager. Again, we've got 12 days till that game. You know, they should be, really, if they were competent, they should be able to work something out in that time. One thing I did want to say, on front before we sort of just briefly talk about who might be next, I think when you look at Graham Potter you look at what's happened with Thomas Frank here I think this and there was a tweet that was doing the rounds um it wasn't from a from a Spurs fan it was just from a football account apologies I can't remember who it was that said it but they basically said this disastrous tenure of Thomas Frank at Spurs should be a should be a word of warning to anybody looking to take any manager from a brighton a brentford type club because the manager is a piece of an entire system there and it's a trite thing to say but it's so clearly true it's so clearly true now um because look at this mate look at like we could we can say thomas frank might go on elsewhere and do well but graham potter hasn't you know i could just as easily see Thomas Frank rocking up at Nottingham Forest like Ange did and having a similar time there.
51Do you know what I mean? That type of thing. I can see that sort of thing happening. It's not our problem anymore, but Spurs have got to stop. We've got to stop looking at other clubs and saying, what's happened there? How's that worked for them? We need to cling on. Because we were once upon a time, one thing you can give Daniel Levy is that he was once upon a time a pioneer of making Spurs an upwardly mobile exciting club that had a good blend of young exciting talent and decent enough kind of senior players that's what we kind of did for a long time he grew spurs as a proposition and that was fine but since we've arrived at this point we've just been looking around the amount of meaningless hires from the city group get over it the reason why the city group do so well is because they spend loads of money you're not gonna you're not gonna have a magic bullet by hiring some by hiring some pencil necked suit from the city group to make us win stuff you need to spend money you need to buy the best players give them big wages you need to be competitive against clubs like arsenal liverpool not just say oh well arsenal and liverpool were in for this exciting player so we'll go for the we'll go for the teamu version no you need to be competitive in these spaces ask look for their credit arsenal have done that also been woeful for a decade and look at what they've done they've come out they've been punchy and they're going to win the lot this year you know spurs need to start doing that they have the platform to do that stop being cowards stop looking elsewhere focus on your own strategy focus on what you want to do to make this club better because we're in dire we're in dire trouble right now um interim to the interim i mean what is it heitinger a man that's led one of ix's worst seasons in on record as well this year is he going to take over at Spurs?
42Cochran, by all accounts, a supremely talented coach, one of the most exciting in the country, sort of has the stink of Frank all over him now, which is a bit of a problem. Yeah, I mean, interestingly with him, I mean, I can't remember where I saw it. It was only this morning. I mean, obviously, I've been looking at Reddit, X, WhatsApp groups, the whole thing just to kind of try and make sense of all this um there was a suggestion on one of those that um cochran and frank were butting heads because cochran was frustrated that frank's let's call it pragmatism in certain moments in certain games that his approach was very much focused on containment and not actually doing anything in an attacking sense so again whether there's any value in in that in that idea but um yeah Heitinger that ix stink worries me um but yeah we've no one's jumping out I mean I jokingly said yesterday when we were kind of leaving the ground that um if we're going to play long ball football we might as well get Sam Allardyce and I was joking but then the more I thought about it I was like that makes as much sense as anything and i'm not advocating for that at all but you know we're just we are in we are in allardyce territory and i'm by what by that i mean we need someone to come in and save us i know that he's actually got a pretty bad record with that i think the two times he's been sort of parachuted in to try and save him maybe he's not done well i should probably stop speaking that into existence because i'm not advocating for hiring sam allardyce but we need someone who has that kind of grit and an approach to football you know this is not about projects this is not about well if we hire someone now what's that going to mean for next season at this rate there isn't going to be in next season it's all about now get the person who can keep us up
42potch back in summer mate is that there's there's i've flip-flopped on this one there's that part of me that feels like fundamentally we need our souls cleansing we need to fall back in love with the club again and also we just need a good manager and not many good managers are going to come that's that's the bit the pochettino proposition is always dressed up as oh it's nice and it's good for the feels but he is actually still a world-class coach and there aren't going to be many of those that are going to step into spurs yeah it's got to be him in the summer doesn't it yeah it's got to be and i feel like the board will see that as a kind of a quick win even if it is like a two-year temporary sort of thing um because they they're in dire straight sound they seem to have reacted to the the the toxic atmosphere let's call it and i don't mean that in a bad way i think it's important that the fans show their displeasure at stuff whether that's booing you know you can't write a 10-point plan while you're in the stand so you've got to boo um so i think potch is the logical choice as you say because i think we're missing that soul and even if again if that's not a five six year ten year thing i just think we need to kind of go back to basics right and and and get and and get some love back back for the team um you know i was saying before about um and just quickly because i've got a log off but the um um you remember when city were bought and they signed robinio and it was a massive statement and it didn't really work out but that wasn't kind of the point they spent and they made this big kind of pr gesture sounds bad to call potch a pr gesture gesture gesture slip of the tongue there um i feel like getting him in just kind of salves that wound you know the wounds of we sacked him gets the fans back on side lifts the plays gets someone who actually knows what Tottenham is and the point about Poch he seems to be the only person that talks positively about us so it's kind of got to be him right we'll see how much he loves us if we're in the championship I will say that because he'll probably turn his nose up or maybe he won't I hope I mean obviously I hope but I mean just before you go mate bounce, do you think it's surely got to come hasn't it after this, it can't get any worse it can but you know
06yeah I mean the fact that we're now seeing stuff about the players being kind of upset with Frank points to the fact that they have down tools which again is a horrific thing to do because they therefore put us in this position but that aside if a new manager bounce gets them onside and they start playing and pressing and closing down crosses Jack Like, it was driving me insane yesterday how often, and we've done it all season, stopping players just on the kind of wide of the 18-yard box, on the 18-yard line, crossing in to the back post. We just don't learn. And that sort of thing, regardless of what you're being told as a player, you need to get close, right?
46That's just basics. That's not tactics, or maybe it is, but you should ignore it. But, yeah, I'm hoping that these stories point to the fact that a new manager will kind of galvanize everyone but you know there was talk about yesterday spence and vander vander then being like having arguments with vicario and there being a massive disconnect there and kind of you know so the toxicity isn't just in the fan base it's within the squad as well so yeah again my point it's got to be the right person phil mate thanks for jumping on um my pleasure enjoy your uh enjoy your trim thank you obviously need it goodbye thanks um there we have it just a just a flying visit from phil um i can't actually be on much longer i am supposed to be literally at work right now um but yeah there's plenty plenty to consider um We've got a few comments coming here, obviously, from now.
50Ben Mathias says, could we stay up? Which, yeah, you know, there we go. Stegas says, forwards and onwards, Kois. Zorba the Greek says, we all knew he was gone after last night. I mean, we were very much hoping he was gone. I wasn't entirely convinced he was definitely going, but, you know, thank God for that. James Nicholson says, thank God that's finally happened. The next steps will determine the next five years for this club. Personally, I hope it's an interim that keeps us up, then potch back in summer. Jack Underhill says, get Deserby. That's lined up, hasn't it, for us, really? That's lined up a lot.
33Get Deserby. I know he's a knob, but we need someone to bully this complacent board and the players into sorting their mess out.
46a few people asking for phil's mic to have gone up sorry i didn't see that in time um palindrome pirate we're staying up we're staying up uh mr big to you says weirdly i was just listening to you falling apart analyzing the game practicing drum rudiments lo and behold our prayers are answered now here i am wonder if they've given johnny h the slot huge gamble koys mccoy's face morning jack really don't fancy deserve to be honest me neither if i'm brutally honest with you um i'm sure he'd get them playing but the amount of wrong and he's signed um and works with at marseille concerns me who else do we sign now the the other the other one for me as well with deserve he is remember when we played him when we played brighton and he just absolutely lost his ass on the touchline it was like squaring up to stellini all that i think he a red card um really really bizarre really bizarre energy uh and it was a bit more than just like passion he's a guy that cares it was you know it was quite it was quite weird i felt um i love lily white says just got a new job as a manager and i've made an hour's worth of tasks up to go watch you live cheers mate thank you um ample sample says get the gilet wearing messiah back you know maybe Alex Paramore says yes yes yes thank god it feels like a weight has been lifted hope the players feel the same SC Kingdom says much love matey Poch won't quit the US national team anytime soon he has a much more relaxing job with real football not to pay not pay to win nonsense um and then just sort of basically says that he doesn't understand the uh the glazing as people say of pochettino look i know look the whole he didn't win anything and stuff argument always comes up with pochettino but he is a guy that understood the club he's a guy that loves the club and we need that right now we need people that care and love about the club love about the club love and care about the club care about the fans because we don't have a lot of that i don't think we got many players that care about that um i don't think we've got really many people in positions of power at the club that care about us something's got to change and you know bring a bit of that back bring a bit of that love back between the players, the fans, all of it.
33We need it. We need it, man. Our soul needs healing. It really does.
47Lots of people moaning about the levels. It is what it is. I've jumped on quickly live. I don't often use Riverside to do like multiple live streams and stuff like that I use this to record stuff on the back end then I can edit the sound levels and stuff after the fact you know it's not it's not got the most comprehensive amount of controls the sound levels I apologize you know but it is what it is you know it's a it's a bedroom operation at the end of the day so you know um it sounded fine to me as well so that's that's kind of you know what I would say
32i'm just trying to look to see what it is um coys mccoy's face was talking to my dad yesterday day about the match day operation if we're in the championship would they close the upper tiers or just keep the south stand open got to think about catering and bars i know it's mad it's mad isn't it it's um i don't know i i really i don't think we're out the woods i don't think we're out the woods at all on that one but look this is a huge lift we really you know it couldn't continue it could not continue the way in which we were playing the way he was setting us up the lack of progress in any shape or form from Thomas Frank was just was not acceptable it wasn't acceptable you can't blame it entirely on him but as I keep saying you can blame him for a lot of it you can definitely blame him for a lot of it not good enough not good enough quite simply um he had to go and hopefully we do get something of a lift from this because
48you know we need it we need something this is a hail mary now this is a hail mary the the The feeling last night, seeing the league tables and stuff pop up on screen, seeing the type of discussions we were having, seeing the relegation discussion becoming more mainstream now, less of a fringe thing, you know we're in trouble. You look at the fixtures we got ahead of us. You look at the fact that we just don't win games. You know we're in trouble. Something had to change. There had to be a lift from somewhere. and unfortunately the easiest way to do that when a transfer window is closed is to get rid of a manager get rid of a manager and hope that whoever it is in charge of this lot can just galvanize them can give them a bit of freedom can allow them to express themselves because i still think there's some talented players in this team do we stick a few youth players in the mix probably I think we'll have to now.
55It's the sort of thing we'll have to do. But where we are right now is just not acceptable. Hasn't been acceptable at any point. And they've done the right thing in getting Thomas Frank on. Frankly, Mr. Shankly, that's it. I'll be having a more in-depth conversation a bit later on. either this afternoon or tomorrow morning with mr john bass where i'm sure we will speak a lot more about this issue you think um but for now yeah we just need to collect our thoughts you know there's there's a huge weight being lifted for me huge weight being lifted but it's not all gone we are we're in a perilous position something has to change there needs to be a spark there needs to be something from somewhere and uh at least we've got this at least we've got this right now but thanks everybody for jumping on whoever has jumped on um there will be more pods coming in the coming days i would imagine there's going to be a lot to talk about there's going to be appointments of whoever we've got a north london derby coming up there's there's there's going to be a lot there's going to be a lot to talk about so this isn't it this is just a quick reaction to the news that he's gone um and a chance to sort of bask in the relief of that but yeah thanks for tuning in um more pods to come much love goodbye
51We are standing on the edge
