In short
Tottenham Way/Rule the Roost mini quiz special during the international break, with a discussion of Troy Parrott’s Ireland scoring run and debate about Spurs’ appointment of Thomas Frank.
Guests
Dan Kilpatrick (journalist; “View from the Lane”/The Athletic contributor), Tom Foynes (co-host; long-time Spurs podcaster), Sean Walsh (“quiz king” co-host; long-time Thomas Frank follower from Brentford).
Key claims
Parrott scored 5 goals for Ireland in the international break (2 vs Portugal, 3 in the latest match) and Spurs fans question whether “everyone who leaves Spurs wins trophies.” Dan argues Spurs have been entertainingly disappointing and he’s “having a wobble” on Frank despite decent results; Sean says Frank needs time because Spurs’ attacking options/fit are worse than at Brentford.
Notable examples
Quiz rounds include Spurs appearance leaders by nation (Argentina: Erik Lamela; Netherlands: Rafael van der Vaart; Brazil: Lucas Moura), Spurs goal totals vs top clubs (most vs Man City, then Arsenal, Liverpool, Man United, Chelsea), and North London Derby Arsenal scorers (Kane 14, Son 5). Guest outcome: Sean and Jack tied after three rounds; Jack wins tiebreaker by correctly estimating Spurs’ all-time PL goals conceded to Everton (111).

1:55Jack:Hi everyone, welcome back to Rule the Roost, or should I say, the Tottenham Way podcast. Hello Tottenham Way people of yesteryear anyway. How's it going lads? That's Dan Kilpatrick, that's Tom Foynes and that's Mr Sean Walsh. Hello. Hello. god look at that that that is some energy i'm feeling some energy today lads genuine that was we need to redo that that was low energy it's not happening now yeah uh i'm very well i was just taken aback of being introduced to talking to my person since i've been booted off my own podcast the experience tom will know all about i was gonna say how's that feel tom high five brother I've been there.
2:37All right. No, let's not open up this old wound.
2:43Jack:I sent, walking through London the other day, I had like a work gig on, and I took a photo of a pub that I thought was the old recording place of the Tottenham Way podcast and sent it to Tom with like, I think like a heart emoji being like, oh, you know, memories. And Tom was just like, thanks for a photo of a pub, mate. um it wasn't it wasn't where you used to record i thought that it was so uh you know there we go i appreciated the effort but yeah it was an 8 a.m picture of it i thought it was a bit of a cry for help maybe it was literally just a picture of the pub at 8 a.m okay mate yeah oh yeah i feel like it would be quite quite was it like a weekday i feel like that would be I would read that as a cry for help, actually.
3:34Oh, God, he's feeling weak.
3:39Jack:Do you reckon the Masons are still... You used to record next door to the Masons, you have weird clapping rituals and stuff you'd hear in the background of podcasts. Oh, yeah. I have no idea, but that feels like a job for Tom to find out if they're still going. It's around the corner from my work, so I can always go any time and have a look. Yeah, definitely. We used to record on a Monday night, and I think that was like their meeting time. So every so often we'd hear, the Masons aren't meeting tonight, you've got the big room. But if they were in, we had this tiny, I think Jack probably where you would have recorded most of yours, they were just a tiny little room cupboard, like surrounded by chairs that the Masons didn't need to use and hold away with no soundproofing whatsoever.
4:25I think one time we tried to have coax at the bottom of the door to try and keep out the clap, it didn't really work. Yeah, memories. 10 years ago, mate. 10 years, like this season, is 10 years since our first season on Tottenham Way. Very long time.
4:41Jack:Bloody ruddy hell. Sean, you were eight.
4:46Now a full-grown adult, wow.
4:48Jack:It is the international break, and that means there's not an awful lot of Tottenham stuff to talk about. So there is a point to me, collecting these individuals together, that isn't just talking about pubs and me having a cry for help. It is that if you listen to the New Year's Eve podcasts that I often put out, well, I have been putting out over the past couple of years with the help of the wonderful Mr. Foynes there, you'll often know that Dan and Sean are the quiz kings. So I thought it would be quite fun during the international break, instead of talking about Arsenal and all that type of stuff on the horizon, to actually just do a quiz.
5:25Jack:Why not? A bit of fun. Football's allowed to be fun, isn't it, lads? Isn't it? sometimes yeah okay there we go there we go that speaks volumes um but before we do that i did just want to ask just on the point of the international break dan you're a bit delayed to the start of this recording because troy parrot has followed up his brace against portugal with a hat trick today and so i just put to the panel anybody who wants to jump in first are we the problem
5:57no one's speaking so i'll jump in i don't know the answers that in regards to troy parrot but he has scored all five goals in an incredible international break for ireland who had seemingly no chance of qualifying for the world cup and are now in the playoffs after two amazing wins and he got two against Portugal if I'm not wrong and three today so I do wonder whether he might end up being one that got away but are we the problem? That feels like a big question doesn't it? I mean everyone who leaves Spurs does seem to go on to win trophies Tom one of your lists must be along those lines right?
6:41Everyone has won something since they left Yeah it's one of them though isn't it? Some of them are like the Turkish League or something like that it's fair enough, yes they've gone and won something but is it really something that we can say is comparable to the competitions that we're in or were in when those players were with us so there's lots of players that have gone on to do something and win something Sonny might be one obviously he won the Europa League anyway but he could win something in the MLS or something and he might just be another one to add to the list but yeah, I don't know it's a hard one to quantify I would say we're certainly a problem may not be the problem but it's certainly a problem.
7:18In regards to power as well, we were saying before you guys came that he played three times against Spurs last year for AZ and didn't really look good in any of those appearances and this was the worst Spurs defence in a million years, right? That is a fair point.
7:32Jack:I do kind of feel like, yeah, there might be a bit of this Marcus Edwards syndrome, shall we say, where a young player can be doing really well somewhere else. I mean, Marcus Edwards hasn't really had the same international exploits that Troy Parrott has had of late, but still, there's a kind of clamour in it. Yeah, well, you could be forgiven for forgetting that though, couldn't you? Really? How many minutes did he play for Burnley? This, next to none, I would imagine. So yeah, I mean, the thing for me with Parrott is that, like we were saying, Sean, we saw him play a few times last year and I just kind of thought he looked a bit championship.
8:10Jack:So, you know, with the talk of Everton being after him, let's uh let's hope that it sort of well no let's not hope this day I mean when he plays us yeah but whatever I wish that I wish the lad well um I guess uh Dan you know in your sort of uh in your role now where you're not on the front line for Tottenham as much I'd be quite interested to hear your take on the season thus far where you're at with Thomas Frank how you feel about him because you know he is already proving to be quite marmite yeah that's another big question so just to plug view from the lane our athletic podcast which i'm now on we did an episode this week this international break where we tried to kind of step back and not just react to a result as we normally do and and look at the bigger picture and it was one of the most cinching podcasts i've done with them and it was also really difficult i found it really difficult to to kind of place just where Spurs are now, like what the objectives are, where Spurs should be finishing, what fans want.
9:12You know, all these big questions seem to be really muddied in the kind of post-stadium, post-Levy era, I think. So I think it's almost kind of difficult to talk about the club in a sort of zoomed out way at the moment. But broadly speaking, like on the season, This is the first season I've been a fan for 10 years since Tom and I started the Tottenham Way. Because quite soon after that, I started reporting on Spurs. And I thought I was going to love it. But I think probably because of the style, I found myself quite bored in quite a lot of Spurs games this season. And I've realised something I've probably known deep down all along, but wasn't really able to express when I was trying to be impartial and journalistic.
10:06But I do want Spurs to play good football and exciting football. I'd rather fail aiming high than achieve aiming low or whatever the exact quote is. I want Spurs to try and entertain and I haven't been particularly entertained this season. So for me, the jury's out on Frank. I've got to say my gut instinct, and I've said this on Vee from the Lane, so I don't mind saying now, is that he's not quite right for Spurs. And I know that's early days and Sean was probably, you know, livid with me right now. But I just don't think the football he's playing is sustainable at the moment, albeit results have been fine.
10:46So I'm having a wobble in a nutshell. I could go on, but I think the bottom line is I'm definitely having a bit of a wobble.
10:53Jack:Well, Sean, go on, let's dive into that because you're somebody that's followed Thomas Frank for a large part of his Brentford career. I think you were pretty happy with the decision to bring him to Spurs. How have you been feeling about a lot of this, shall we call it Thomas Frank, slander, especially some of that that's showcased by Mr Kilpatrick there? I do want to kind of go on the record and say I don't want to be like the defenders of the last manager who was here who will just say anything to defend him and say, you're an idiot if you don't understand what he's doing. We talked about it before, Jack, and it was just being announced that he joined.
11:26You know, there's going to be some risks to this appointment. How does the football scale up? How do the problems scale up from when you're a club like Brentford where it's only good press to, you know, there's already been a million and one different things that have gone on this season at Spurs, even though the results haven't been horrendous. But it feels like there's always one big talking point, whether that's the Spence and Van der Ben thing, whether it's the home form. I'm generally a bit more lenient with the start so far just because I don't think that Spurs' attacking options, for example are as good as any that he had at Brentford in the last four or five seasons which is a remarkable thing considering the size of the clubs It could be better I think we might have talked before about he might be playing a bad hand badly but I think that at the same time that he still needs time that he still needs time to really kind of work with the squad and I think that's a lot where a lot of the rotation is coming from he doesn't know what his best team is yet and we might not even know until a few more months down the line when more players are fit again but I can I totally see why people aren't into it and aren't liking where it's going but I'm not there yet
12:42Jack:Well that's it I mean because I can't help but escape from the feeling that in a couple of months time you're going to be seeing xavi siemens james madison dejan kolosevsky mohammed kudus maybe even dom solanke all in a sort of team together knocking the ball about pretty nicely and spurs suddenly look like a team that is able to play football on the front foot is able to create chances is able to dare i say it have shots on target um so you know i think it is probably worthwhile sitting on it for a bit but you know i think it's i think you have to be you have to be allowed especially in this space and i know you can't say nothing nowadays but still you have to be allowed in this space to at least just pretty much talk about the the things that people are discussing online and that's that's kind of what i do try to give space to um so when i am kind of entertaining these conversations about thomas frank perhaps maybe being able to do a bit better i'm not trying to be negative i'm not trying to say get him out the door and just simply you know i'm a i'm a i'm a platform for ideas you know that's what it is i'm a conveyor of thought um this is getting very close to i'm just asking questions yeah yeah yeah the platform of free speech podcast give me give me a few months mate give me a few months if i if the numbers start to dip again i'll uh you know i need to find my next uh my next ruse um that's enough from top look we've we've done that we've spoken about spurs we've got arsenal coming up but i'll talk about that nearer the time i don't really want to go on about that right now um so should we should we do some quizzing if your business runs on five different apps 12 browser tabs and one spreadsheet that everyone's afraid to touch it's probably time for odoo odoo is an all-in-one business management software that connects every part of your business into one powerful, easy-to-use platform.

16:19alrighty we've got three rounds it's a mini quiz this time the main event as you said Jack already is around Christmas time so this is a bit warm up fixtures pre-World Cup stuff three rounds fairly straightforward we can dive straight in round one he's called Etienne Apoué and this is all about appearances to Tottenham As it's international break, we're going to be going global. I'm going to give you a nation, or in one of them, it's going to be a whole continent. What you need to do is you need to name me the two players with the most Premier League appearances to Spurs from that nation. It's one point per correct answer, and you need to give me who you think is first and who you think is second.
17:04If you get that order right, you'll get a full two points, or you'll get the bonus point on top of the two points, rather. So three points on offer for every question in this round. Everyone's ready? Yep.
17:17Jack:Let's do it. First Nation. I won't give you too long on these as well. So wait, are we getting a nation each? No, it's a nation, and then I'll go in and turn between you to get your answers. First Nation is Argentina. And this is just Premier League appearances. So who has the most? Who has the most? So if you can either think of them in your head or obviously write them down if you can't remember two names and then I'll come to you in turn. So I'll give you 20, 30 seconds. What's stopping us cheating here? What's stopping me just... Because if I go after Sean, I'm just going to copy all the Seanters.
17:56All right, well, you won't go after Sean then in any... No, no, no, I want to go after Sean.
18:00Jack:Could we submit them to you on WhatsApp, Tom, to eliminate the... Let's do that. Oh, such a clean shirt. Pathetic.
18:13I mean you did literally just admit to how you were going to jump on this round so I can only think of one Argentinian oh no I've got another one I've got another one oh hold on oh this is clever I know why this this is clever they're all clever I knew he would bastard is there someone I'm forgetting Didn't want to have a guess in the meantime just how many players from Argentina that there have been for Spurs in the Premier League. How many names are you choosing from? Go on then, go on. I'm up to seven. Premier League. Oh. Alrighty, everyone's in. So I can tell you that the top two appearance makers from Argentina in Premier League or Spurs.
19:06Number one, Eric Lamella. Fuck! Get off! Very surprised at you there, Jack. 177 appearances across, what was it, eight years or so. And then Mauricio Tarrico was number two on the list. So you've all got a point. All got one point there. I thought Tarrico would have more.
19:28Jack:I thought Tarrico would have been number one. Did anyone else get the top two? No one got the top two I should get half a point for that then because I just got them in the wrong order You get one point for each correct answer and then you needed to get them in order to get the extra point
19:50That's fair? That feels fair So you got two points for that question Well done Sean and Jack you've got one Moving on, Next Nation is the Netherlands. And if it helps, there are nine names to choose from in the Netherlands. If I just said VDV, would that be cheating?
20:19I've just given stuff away. Maybe potentially given away some answers if Jack or Sean have thought of either of them. No, they've got to have thought of them. that's annoying though okay Sean and Jack both in I don't know let's move it along buddy right thank you very much Paul answers in you've all gone exactly the same so you all went Van der Vaart and Van der Ven all of you put him in Van der Vaart in first place which is correct so you all get a point for that none of you got the second place which is Steven Bergwijn. Good God. And I'll tell you what, it was really close. Van der Vaart was on 63 and Bergwijn was on 60.
21:07Oh wow. Just three appearances away from being our number one Dutch.
21:12Jack:I would have said Ed Godavid's ahead of Bergwijn, honestly. I would have said Vorm ahead of Bergwijn. Yeah, Vorm. I would have said Vorm, I think. Oh, Vorm. I think I was massively overthinking that when you said 9. I was thinking because van der Vaart and van der Ven both you know have only done a couple of seasons a couple of injury hit seasons I was like are there just some Dutchman I completely forgot he used to come off on 60 minutes but he played a lot of football whereas van der Ven has missed probably what 40 % of our games in two and a bit seasons true yeah van der Ven was sorry van der Vaart was just such a dated player and that he just couldn't last more than an hour could he yeah okay well I'm not unhappy with that in the end no no so one point all around there so your third nation is Brazil and for these we've similar well same as Argentina we've had eight eight players from Brazil there's going to be some annoying answers in this one aren't there are there I think overthinking is the killer of this round so far.
22:29Trust your gut, Tom.
Read the full transcript
22:31Jack:Go with... Go with Gilberto. Gilberto.
22:42Not happy with those answers at all. Alright. All in. I can tell you that the The top answer is Lucas Moura. With 162. Almost double. The second highest. Which is Jarelio Gomez.
23:04Jack:Get in there. Jack you're the only one that got a perfect 1-2 there. You've got 3 points for getting that in the correct order. Dan you went for Gomez first. Richarlison second. So you get 1 point for Gomez. Sean you went Gomez top as well. And then you went Emerson Royale second place. so you both forgot Lucas Mora I forgot about Lucas Mora weirdly despite being responsible for the greatest moment in my Spurs supporting life he is quite a forgettable little fella isn't he? there's a picture of him on my wall the woke agenda erasing Lucas Mora yeah tricky one alright let's move on I think this one was probably the trickiest of the lot so we'll certainly get four points anyway so next nation is Spain
24:00Jack:Spain
24:04Jack:I can literally only think of like one Spanish player I'm trying to think now Premier League as well we've somehow had seven
24:17Jack:I couldn't tell you you're seven
24:23Alright, Daniel, the last one again. Sean and Jack both in. Okay, hold on. Seven Spanish players? Yeah. Well, it's not Brian Hill. Say nothing, Brian. Alrighty, everyone in. So, for Spain, the top appearance maker for Spain is Pedro Porro. Yes. Surprisingly. Second. I'm afraid none of you got it. You all went for Soldado in slightly different orders. Dan, you put Soldado second. Jack, you put Soldado on top. Sean, you went second as well. It's not Soldado. It's Sergio Reguilon.
24:58Jack:Oh, Christ. I'd forgotten about him as well. Does he still play for us? No. No. He's got this. No, okay. He plays for Inter Miami. What? What happened? No, it's not the time. Not the time of the plays, but there we go. Yeah, 56 Premier League appearances for Spurs. Was Soldado close? I can have a look for you. He played one full season and then pretty much half the second one so he can't be too far behind surely. Who's that, Soldado? Yeah. He played two full seasons for Spurs. But he got dropped eventually, right? Edged out in the... Yeah, yeah, he wasn't. 52. So very close. He's put only four behind Reguilon.
25:53Yeah, a lot of these are very close, which is half a point of the quiz. Yeah, seven. I can't believe it. Okay, so the last one on this. It's not a nation. It is a whole continent. So plenty of names to choose from. But I want you to name me the two highest Premier League appearance makers from Africa. And what this is, is anyone who represented an African nation. So obviously there's a number of players that played for Cameroon, Ghana etc. that might have grown up in France, born in France, grown in France, but it's yeah, appearance makers by national team, predominantly. Sean and Jack are both in.
26:41Typical. You're in now. Well... Alright. You've all got roughly the same areas. You've all got a different name for your second choice on each. Yeah, you... Okay. So, the top two appearance makers from Africa. Benoit Asuokoto, 155.
27:08Jack:second place you'd pick yourself really already 93 really appearances so Dan you went with Adebayor and saw Sean you went with Adebayor and Didier Zocora and then Jack you went for a circle so and Adebayor. So you all went for Adebayor. But he did three seasons with us. I think he did four in the end. But yeah, he was frozen out for quite a lot of the last two. It was only Sherwood that played him really. And then under Potch he was pretty much gone by when Kane came in, wasn't it? So what, November sort of time? So really it's only a couple of seasons of Adabaior. Yeah, but he didn't get anywhere near Pat Matassar.
28:07There we go. Decent round. That's mad.
28:11Jack:Couldn't believe that. So, pretty close at the end of that one. So you've got one, two, four. Sean, you're on four points. Dan, you're on six points. Jack, because you were the only one that got the correct order from any of those questions, you're on seven. Beating the nerds. You thought this was your Run Club era. Turns out, it was more of a thinking about Run Club era. The good news? Someone's marathon training is about to start. Sell your workout gear on Depop. 29:59Jack:Marvel Television's Daredevil Born Again now streaming only on Disney+. What was that flicker of your eyebrows right there, Dan? You're not having my prowess. I thought that I won one round by one point and you won one round by one point and then all the other rounds were tied, so I'm questioning it. Just asking questions. I'm just asking questions, man. I'll listen back and I'll double check. Jack was the only one that got the order correct. So he got two points. I understand that, mate. I'm not sure you do. Okay, round two is called Listian Ziga. This is really, really straightforward. So we're going to use the traditional top six.
30:42So in our first order, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, Man United. All I want you to do is put those five teams in order of how many Premier League goals Spurs have scored against them. So highest to lowest top place say that again so traditional top six yeah Arsenal, Chelsea Liverpool, Man City Man United put them in order of how many Premier League goals Spurs have scored against them highest to lowest again feel free to use the WhatsApp group to send it through this is really good
31:17Jack:so this is all so this is just Premier League goals against these teams right just Premier League goals yeah oh that's that is tricky Sean you've gone very quick and very early I don't want to overthink it too much fair enough I should say it's a point per correct placement so every one of the five you get in the right place will be one point and if you get all five correct in the right place it's a couple of bonus points so yeah most goals to least goals. Sorry, fewest goals. Correct. I can't actually count the amount of times you've corrected me on that over the years on any podcast that we've ever appeared on.
32:06And it's, honestly, it stays in my head any time I ever use the word. I think of you correcting me. That's good. That's like any good lesson. It should stick with you. It's, yeah. Okay. All right, let's go around for what we think the answers were. But I'm going to start with you, Sean. What order do you think these five go in? So I think Spurs scored the most goals against Man City because they were shittest for longest. And even when they're good, Spurs still seem to have the number. Then I'd gone for Man United because I think even over the last 10 years, even at the back end of United being good, we got some decent results against them.
32:48Then Liverpool, there was a period where we had the number for a bit, but it's kind of flipped back nowadays. And then the last two was kind of a coin toss because Spurs have just never done well against Arsenal, Chelsea in the Prem. I've gone Arsenal first, straight after that, and then the least goals scored against Chelsea just because I can't burn the Stamford Bridge record out of my mind.
33:11So your list is Man City, Man United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea. Dan, let's have yours next. So I've gone City for the same reason. I paused slightly because they've obviously not been in the Premier League the whole time, but I think Spurs have more than made up for that over the years. Then I went for Liverpool just because I thought they were crap for a long period that sticks in my mind, but I'm worried that they're way too high now, having heard Sean's reasoning. Then I went for Arsenal because I think there have been some cracking North London derbies with lots of goals, obviously like the 4-4, for example, even the 4-2.
33:48Spurs managed to get a couple of goals against them. then I went for United just because I thought the Fergie era was so long and those generally were so bad against them in the Fergie era and then I went for Chelsea for obvious reasons so it's City Liverpool Arsenal United Chelsea last one thank you Jack
34:08Jack:so I you know bucking the trend as ever have decided that Manchester City being relegated for large parts of the Premier League era aren't going to take number one slot so I've gone with Manchester United first because I just recall us scoring quite a few against them down the years even when they were good then Chelsea because I know we don't always beat them but I seem to recall us at least scoring goals against them see also Liverpool who I've taken in third then Man City in fourth and then Arsenal last because we never score against Arsenal until Harry Kane came along really Wow that is a cat amongst the pigeons Very very very much so I can tell you that none of you got the full five so no maximum points for any of you in fact none of you even got four Sean and Dan you both got three correct Jack I think you've overthought it massively, mate.
35:16Massively. Me? I won't have it. No, no, no. He's under-thought that. Fair challenge. That needed more thought. Yeah, I'm surprised by some of the reasons in there. So, yeah, Jack, you got a single point there. So the full list or the correct order, Man City, yeah, you're absolutely right. They weren't in the Premier League the whole time, but I think they've been, even in the 90s, They were there for two or three seasons, I think. And it wasn't until 2010 that they had all the money. Even then, obviously, we scored quite a lot of goals against them. So they're out in front. We've scored 83 against them.
35:56None of you got this correct. The second place is Arsenal, which I was really, really surprised at. And in fact, we're only one goal behind Man City. So 82 Premier League goals scored against Arsenal over time. What? It is surprising And similarly in third place Liverpool, that was the one that you got correct But yeah, Liverpool in third place on 81 And they had won I would have put them very low down Yeah I'm very surprised that we've got as many goals Against them as we have Fourth, Man United, 71 League goals And then, yeah, Chelsea Obviously home or away for very long stretches Really, really bad record against them At 63, I think we've actually We've only just got over a goal a game against them in the Premier League, which, yeah, feels pretty poor.
36:49So, yeah, finalists. Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man United, Chelsea. Sean, three points for you. Dan, three points for you. Jack, one point for you, which means after round two, Sean, you're on seven points. Dan, you are on nine points. Jack, you're on eight points. Very, very finely poised going into our final round. which is where things could change very, very quickly. And I will explain how and why. No need to message me on WhatsApp for this one. It's going to be, we're going to be going around each of you individually. And you're going to be giving me a name or five names overall. Here's how it works.
37:31This is all about the North London Derby. North London Derby coming up next weekend. So this round is based around North London Derby goal scorers for Tottenham. you're going to take it in turns to name me any player, four spurs, who have scored a Premier League goal against Arsenal. So goals against Arsenal, four spurs. The twist is that the points are going to be weighted. So I've got a list of who has scored and then the more goals they've scored the fewer points they are worth. So the player with the most amount of goals against Arsenal, four spurs in the North London derbies in the Premier League is only worth one point.
38:06and then there's a huge list of players, a fairly long list of players who have only ever scored one Premier League goal against Arsenal and they're worth the maximum amount of points, which is seven. You can't say the same name twice, so when I'm going around to you, you can't say the name that someone else has said. It has to be a completely unique name and then you will be awarded the amount of points based on whereabouts they sit in the list. so seeing as in traditional as in tradition in quizzes rather we're going to start with a player on the lowest score going into this round which is you Sean Walsh so can I have or do you want some thinking time do you want no I'm ready yeah so let's do it can I just say this isn't fair this is this is playing to Sean just because Sean will be better than me at it So it's not fair.
39:03You're in first and I'm in last. You've never had a better opportunity to beat me at quiz than this. Bring it. Very fair. Righto. I've gone for five names on this. That is a lot of players. I can tell you now that there have been 42 goalscorers. So maybe 15 isn't too bad out of that list. About a third. So, okay, yeah, we'll stick with five names each because I think hopefully that'll mean you start eating into the low point scorers. So let's go ahead. Sean, can I have your first name, please? I'm going to start with Danny Rose on his Premier League debut. You've gone for Danny Rose. What I'm going to do is I'm going to put your names against these on the list and then I'm going to add it up at the end and I'll go through and tell you how many points they're worth and how many points you've won overall.
39:57so Jack you are in second place at the moment so can I have your first name please
40:03Jack:Eunice Cabal are you fucking Eunice Cabal with some background noise for from Mr. Kitty P Dan
40:17so if I was to pick the person with the most goals in Northland am I still getting one point yeah you'll get a point out of it but obviously you don't know and how much Wookabool and Rose worth having both scored I'm going to tell you at the end I'll tell you at the end how many points that each chance it gives you oh he's scared now but then I won't know what but yeah but I'm not going to know what I need to get so it will do you know what I mean like there might come a point where I just need you should you know even though the others have picked them if you've got a rough idea of how many goals each of those players scored you know that they are potentially high scoring or low scoring yeah okay I see I just wanted to play strategically if I could you've robbed me of that opportunity stop you're such a little victim when it comes to this quiz it's just it's always a robbery yeah stitch up come on give us your first name okay I will go with Eric Lamella
41:25Jack:Damn you Lamella So should have put these in Water Okay Sean back to you mate I'm gonna go For Couldn't watch this game because My sky was out Annoyingly I'm gonna go for Noradine Nabet
41:51Muradin Navek it's a lovely shout it's a lovely shout he's on my list Jack your second name please
42:00Jack:Oi Oi Savaloi Banter Banter David Bentley Bentley
42:13I'll tell you what I'll do it now just because we haven't reached the end of the round. But if you name me a player that hasn't scored a North London derby goal, I'll take a point off your final score. Which feels fair, right? Yeah.
42:30Dan? Ziga. Christian Ziga.
42:36Jack:What a free kick as well. What a free kick.
42:44Sean, back to you. um kyle walker
42:51kyle walker
42:58jack uh eric dial
43:06okay jamie redknapp
43:14Lovely Jamie right now. Yep. And back to you, Sean. Your fourth name. Wow. I'm going to hope that you only got one. Darren Bent.
43:33Darren Bent. Alright. Jack.
43:44Jack:I definitely know he's got one I don't know if it was only one Louis Saha Louis Saha Dan This is my last one No This is your fourth Oh good
44:10oh he'll have got more than one he'll have got a few I've got like an instinct but it just feels really punty I might go for it this is my Hail Mary um
44:28Batong
44:31Jack:good shout
44:35alright when did he
44:37Jack:I can't picture the goal I can't picture it it's just like inside me in my head that he got one at some point he's under pressure he's under pressure he really is Sean this is your final name final pick for all of you okay I'm going to go Nasser Chadley wait hang on I've only done four yeah this is your last round so I'm sure you've been done one more name each yeah I'll go Chadley you are going NASA Chadley Jack your final name please
45:18Jack:I feel like I'm at risk of overthinking this stuff so I can only think of one I'm going to say Ledley King
45:35Dan your final name please
45:40I'm going to I could take another punt but I'm going to be safe and hope it's enough because I think he scored more than one or I imagine he probably did I'll go Lennon
45:56Aaron Lennon right
45:59Jack:big shout this is very very tight gonna need to do some maths said the bishop to the actress very very tight anyone else got any like other guts of ones that they didn't go for I believe Dele Alli only got one really I think it was the last the last one of the lines he's got in the last North London Derby at White Hart Lane and obviously scored in the Carabao. I'm trying to think. That's a good shout, Sean. Obviously, there's no points available. So, yeah, Dele only got one. What about Ericsson? Just one. In the last... That wasn't a gut feeling. That was just me chucking a name out. I just couldn't think of him scoring against Arsenal.
46:49Jack:I'm trying to think of the ones that have. Dawson got one. Wouldn't surprise you to know there's not many current... Well, there's only one current player. Christian Romero? Yeah, Romero's got one. Has he got more than one, though, for us? No, just the one. One of London, Derby goal. Who else has got one? Huddleston, just the one. Berbatov, Knutey and Defoe. Poyet, Rebrov, Tim Sherwood, Nielsen, Andy Sinton, Jürgen, Jürgen Klinsmann, Popesco, and I'm going to assume this is Paul Allen, not Rory Allen. I've just got Allen on my list. Let's see Paul Allen's card.
47:38Lovely reference. Defoe only getting one has surprised me. He was on my list. I was thinking he would be if I was really struggling. Yeah. It was a cracking goal as well, wasn't it? Yeah, the 5-4. This is very easy, straightforward and we will do the answers in a minute, but top goal scorer? Kane. Harry Kane, yeah. 14. 14. Second. Again, I feel obvious. Sonny? Yeah, Sonny.
48:08Jack:Yeah. Third place was Dale. He's got five. I mean, actually, I think I looked this up for an episode, the episode of Hometown Glory. When Sonny left, I looked it up and realised that I think 13 of our last 16 goals was in the North London derby have been Kane or Son, which feels very, very big. That's a great stat, Jesus. Good lord, that is horrific. Don't quote me on it, Pam, but it's not far off. But yeah, no heroes anymore, so step forward, someone. Step forward, Wilson Boddermere. Anyway, let's do some let's do some answers. Let's okay, so Sean, I'm going to go with your answers first. So you were on the lowest amount of points going into this on seven.
48:55You got a perfect score. You were an absolutely perfect score. You couldn't have got a better score. Every single one of your answers had only scored one Premier League goal, which means that you got seven points for every answer. So overall for that round you made yourself 35 points, which means your final score is 42. So your answers were Nouradine Maybet, Darren Bent, Danny Rose, Carl Walker and Nassi Chathaly. All correct. Well played, Sean. Well played. Look at him. He's so scared. I told you this round was a stitch-up. I know. It's stuff you don't know. It's tricky. Jack, you were in second place going into this.
49:36You were very close to a perfect score. You got Eric Dier, which is one goal. Louis Saha, Eunice Cobble and David Bentley, all one goal. But Ledley King got two.
49:51Jack:Wow. I only remember one, and that's the 5-4 game again. Big header. It was the 1-1 the year after that, weren't it? Is that right? What? At home? No, at home. We went 1-0 up, and then I think Perez might have scored late for them to stop us winning. That's the one that I remember. I don't remember the 5-4 one. Oh, right. Yeah, interesting. Well, there you go. So, yeah, Jack, you were one off the perfect score. So your final total for that round is 34, which means your final score is 42 as well. Whoa! So, Dan, Kitty P, Kilpatrick, you've got... Let's just get your names up again. You correctly identified Eric Lamella, Jamie Redknapp, and Christian Ziga.
50:48Those were your seven-pointers. Aaron Lennon got two two North London Derby goals one for ABB one in the 4-4 that was only worth six points he also named Sebastian Basson your gut feeling not sure where your gut was going with that zero I think he only scored one for us and that was Liverpool on his debut I really don't know where you've got this from
51:13Jack:our survey says I'll add the sound effect in oh no I don't know I felt like your reaction trunk kind of gave me hope no I was just kind of like that's quite a good shout I wouldn't have thought that I thought the goal the phantom goal would come into your head oh dear yeah unfortunate so that's obviously an incorrect answer which means you were definitely not getting anything close to full marks for that round anyway. So you got 27 points for the last round. Add that your final score is 36. So what that means is Sean and Jack, you are tied on 42 after three rounds, and he has no more rounds left.
52:08But I did think of a tiebreaker.
52:12Jack:He's come prepared. he is a noble quiz master sire you sir have won the quiz so I we'll see how tricky this is but we'll do it in two parts so I'll ask you the question there's a single answer to this if either of you get it wrong the other person wins the quiz if you both get it right then we'll move on to the second part of this question which will hopefully or should be different there should be a different answer from both of you so I want you to both and again let's use WhatsApp let's keep it all above board for this final thing I want you to name the club that we have scored the most Premier League goals against so not just top 5 or top 6 any club that we've ever faced in the Premier League who have we scored the most Premier League goals against so against any club any club that we've ever faced so there's 40 49 odd or whatever yeah i thought this might happen so you've both gone for everton which is correct so second part of this question fairly straightforward how many goals do you I think it is.
53:34Crying out loud. With obviously the closest answer to it. I think I've gone too low.
53:49Jack:I genuinely have no idea. I'm sort of just trying to work it out in my head over seasons. It's tough. I did give you the total that we scored against the Premier League top six earlier up when I was doing the answers. So, possible guidelines, maybe, maybe not.
54:12Okay, you've both got your answers in. Your answers are one goal apart. Wow! Really close. I thought that, yeah, I thought you'd actually given me the same answer, for which there is no plan. Sean, you went for 84. Jack, you went with 85. Collusion. The actual answer is 111. So, Jack, you're right to fist bump, mate. Well done. Congratulations. Get in. You are the closest.
54:51Jack:Thanks for giving me all the answers beforehand, Tom. No worries. That's it. We'll be doing for Christmas, yeah? Sebastian Bassong I can't believe it
55:05I mean if you'd have just given me a banker I think we may have gone into a tiebreaker with all three of you on 42 I mean I had all the bankers written down I mean that was the definition of overthinking it I was just like I think I remember him scoring a header and he won't have got any more anyway live and learn
55:27Jack:well Tom thank you very much for sorting that out for us mates and thanks Dan and Sean for for jumping in and thank you everybody for listening I hope you've enjoyed that we will be back obviously on Thursday ahead of the North London Derby and Dan anything you need to plug your side at all that we should listen to you sort of did it at the top didn't you already I did it at the top listen to Veev and Elaine if you get a chance Sean anything to plug your side absolutely not well there we go much love everybody thank you very much bye bye bye all uncovered windows can make your home feel up to 20 degrees higher stay cool and save up to 45 % off custom window treatments during the 4th of July VIP access sale at blinds.com from outdoor shades to room darkening blinds finding the perfect fit is easy get free samples expert design help and professional measure and install services or DIY it with confidence and support every step of the way.
