In short
The hosts discuss the Harry Kane media narrative, England’s World Cup performances and next fixtures, and Tottenham Hotspur transfer talk—especially Will Lankshear staying, plus targets like Mateus Fernandes and Alex Scott (and other rumored signings). They also debate whether Tottenham should prioritize academy development vs buying established players.
Guests
Ricky (returning guest; Spurs fan, known for blunt takes; shares personal Tottenham match memories and ticket stubs). Co-hosts are not clearly identified by name in the transcript excerpt, but the episode is “feat. Ricky.”
Guest backgrounds
Ricky is a long-time Tottenham supporter (attends early-90s matches; describes NLD experiences and White Hart Lane wooden seats). He follows the World Cup closely via highlights and discusses England tactics and tournament context.
Key claims
- England have been “crap” vs Ghana and Panama but should progress due to matchups.
- Harry Kane’s respect grew after leaving Tottenham; critics shift standards based on club status.
- Tottenham may keep Will Lankshear if bids aren’t “significant,” and may be content with current striker options under De Zerbi’s system.
- ITK rumors about Mateus Fernandes are volatile; Tottenham’s personal terms may already be agreed, but the transfer fee/payment structure is uncertain.
Notable examples
- Jude Bellingham praising Kane after Panama.
- England’s second-half improvement vs Panama; Croatia game as a better matchup.
- Will Lankshear’s Oxford loan success and training videos.
- Ricky’s memories: Tottenham 1-0 Arsenal (Gica Popescu, 2 Jan 1995) and other early-90s fixtures.

2:03hello everyone welcome back to rule the roost podcast and i'm delighted today to be welcoming back. Ricky, I was about to say your full name though. Ricky. How are you doing? I'm trying to say Mr. Ricky, lads are none, fighting cock. Obviously everybody knows you, but hello mate. How are you doing? Welcome back. I'm all good, mate. I'm all good. Monday morning, the sun's shining. My house has been invaded by house flies, but that's not a positive. So if you see me a little bit preoccupied, it's because I'm just eyeing them up thinking and I'm going to fucking kick your head in later. Little bastards.
2:41They love it. You know in the heat when we're all like melting, they just come alive, don't they? Mate, I'm just laying on the sofa, little tickles on my arms and legs. Fuck off! Try to watch a football. Leave me alone. It's those persistent ones that like, they land on your leg, you swat them, they just do a little circle, just like, ooh, and then straight back down again. Little bastards, aren't they? Little bastards. I hate them, hate them. Because it's just, the thing is as well, You all know. It's just been sat on a poo somewhere as well. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's been on a poo. It's probably had its horrible little...
3:14You know how they've got those little, like, trunks, don't they? Yeah, yeah. That they suck stuff up with. Isn't it like how they digest stuff? They put acid on it and it, like, dissolves it and then they suck that up like a fucking soup. So it's like, oh, them just buzzing around me all the time. Go away. I always see it because, you know, we always send each other like those horrible nature videos from like there's various different like instagram accounts nature is metal and all this stuff where it will show the actual horrible side of nature yeah um but they always use this quote i'm not sure who it is that said it but they always say something like nature is just full of the most unimaginable horrors to human beings which it's just you know it's it's miserable some of those like i know i know we apply like was it anthropomorphism isn't it where you apply human characteristics to animals right yeah and you sort of you look at like you know when the lion eats a baby wildebeest and you think it's evil it's a horrible thing to do yeah yeah yeah but when you watch those videos i do think you bastards it's just it's a toddler that little wildebeest yeah especially when it's like the smallest run of the pack and you know they're just watching them and they grab it and run off and you You think, oh, come on.
4:34Come on. There's bigger ones. Pick on the bigger boys. Go on, have a go. You think you're hard, do you? You think you're hard, do you? King of the jungle and all that, yeah? My arse. Ricky, I'll tell you something else that's been annoying me, actually. Yeah, go on. Well, it didn't annoy me just whilst we were on social media. Have you seen the video, the clip doing the rounds of one of HS Tiki Toki's boys trying to get this lad kicked out of a bar. No. So one of his, like, I'm going to say one of his subordinates, right? One of these lads that rolls with HST. Yeah, exactly. There's this geezer standing at a bar, and they've obviously, the clip is cut in when they're all telling this kid to get out of the bar.
5:23And there's this one Irish lad, he's pretty stacked. Do you know what I mean? He's a pretty big boy, and he's not intimidated by him. But there's like six of them all around him being like, you know, get out. You just told me to fuck off. Why are you telling me to fuck off? And he's just literally like, because your man just walked past and knocked my sunglasses off my face. So I told him to fuck off. Like, what's the problem? Yeah, yeah. And they're all like, they're all on him. They're all like shouting in his face. And he's just standing there like, don't care. But then this lot, right? So they go around all these strips, don't they?
5:51Magaluf or wherever. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Acting the big one, right? They've got like a private security guard. Do you know that? Oh, I know. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because this geezer won't move. They're literally telling him to leave this bar and he's like, I'm not, I'm watching the football. I'm not going anywhere. And so their security guard just comes in, this obviously massive fellow, just comes in and frog marches this geezer out. And I just thought, I hope it ends badly for those boys. I don't like to wish ill on people, but I hope it ends miserably for those boys. they are they are a net bad for everything scumbags you know scumbags utter scumbags i watched i watched louis theroux's thing and i know you've done a a very good lads non-pod on it actually and i i actually thought you know for one of the first times i i thought louis got done by them actually do you i did i i don't think he i don't think he really i think he tried too hard to actually show them as in like maybe they're not all bad maybe they're like maybe there is something more to them and i think i think they had him i think they had him on strings i think really yeah i think they played on louis like journalistic sensibilities of trying to show a balanced side to them i think there's just scum i think they're horrible people i i think louis did enough for them to kind of hang themselves on the way they conducted themselves yeah okay yeah perhaps to perhaps to people who don't like them but I think if you're trying to convince like a raft of young people that idolise these people I think they banged Louis out do you know what I mean oh maybe maybe yeah I don't know I know it's just an interesting note to start a Tottenham pod on but it got me a bit Rick this morning when I was looking through the internet when I was doing a bit of doom scrolling I saw this I just thought what's going on what is going on what is going on You know, in our day, what do we like?
7:53Johnny Knoxville and all that lot, didn't we? Do you know what I mean? What's wrong with us? Throwing poo at each other and things. I've still been watching Jackass clips and stuff like that. It's brilliant. They've got another one coming out, don't they, I think? Yeah. So I think they're doing a lot of press for it. So I'm seeing a lot of new clips and stuff, which is great. And just some of the old ones. Have you ever seen one when him and, I can't remember which one it is. Is it Chris Pointers or something? When they're on the, like, seesaw, but there's a bowl in this room.
8:25and chris point is like runs off and johnny knoxville's just doing the seesaw on his own and he's just saying i'm not out i'm not out and the ball gets him it's very good it's the best of times the best of times how are you enjoying the world cup rick yeah i mean i'm watching most games um as like the Obviously, the early morning games, I'm not watching. I'm just watching highlights, goals mainly. But, yeah, I am enjoying it. I'm enjoying the fact that, you know, before the World Cup, there was a lot of apprehension, it being held in America, didn't know how it was going to be received. And the first kind of notes of it was the ref being sent home, not allowed to kind of ref a game and there were other bits and pieces where people weren't allowed to travel to America and they weren't let through and had to go home and I think there's quite a few Scots as well that were turned away for one reason or another so everyone was thinking oh shit man it's gonna be it's gonna be bad but football it feels like has won and a lot of these things is kind of um i don't know you get caught up with i don't want to go all political but you get caught up with what your government are saying and what they do but the people of america and how welcoming they are to a lot of the countries and cultures and everyone drinking in bars and getting involved and stuff like that it's been it's been amazing it's been it seems like in in all the cities everyone has just kind of got into world cup fever and everyone's enjoying it whether they love uh soccer or they don't they're still kind of like really um in that party mode which is great because that's what it's all about it's all about celebration of football of cultures of countries and people meeting different people finding out about each other and stuff so you're seeing loads of different amazing stories on the internet which is great uh football side of it football's been good i am enjoying really enjoying the booing for the refreshment breaks um but yeah yeah yeah i'm enjoying it how about yourself yeah i'm i'm enjoying it and i agree with you like i do think a lot of a lot of the chat beforehand was sort of off-putting.
11:00And I think just with Spurs' season, all that type of thing, I just kind of felt like, no, actually, I'll tell a lie. Do you know, I tell you when I started to look forward to the World Cup, the second Gabrielle's penalty flew over the crossbar in the Champions League final, I suddenly thought, I'm free. I can enjoy football again. This is it. I can look forward to the World Cup. I can look forward to the World Cup and hope that Gabrielle messes up for Brazil as well.
11:31But did you, are you on board with England? How are you, I mean, because I, you know, it's a funny, it's a funny world. Like when you go from like tweeting about Spurs a lot, when you start tweeting something about England, you start getting like pelters from people with like Stockport flags in their bios and all this type of thing. Do you know what I mean? and all these various different little bobbins clubs that make supporting England their personality get really angry. So I think it's fair to say both the Ghana game and the Panama game, England were crap. I don't think they played well at all, right?
12:08Yeah, yeah. But apparently that's, you know, it's a sin to say that sort of thing. I've been pretty disappointed with England, I've got to say. It was, yeah, it was, I mean, both games was shite. It was boring. I didn't feel like, especially, I mean, the second half, obviously, against Panama was a lot better. But you have to, I think teams know how strong England can be with the players that we have. So naturally, you're going to get teams that will sit back or teams that are going to be in a formation where it's way more defensive and try and nick one on the counter. But then you should have players that will be able to unpick those locks.
12:58And I kind of feel like we have missed a bit of a trick without having Palmer or Foden just to kind of give us that little bit more. so i but then also equally i am you can't play amazing football in every single game and this is tournament football it's just getting enough points and making sure you get through to the next round like if we play i've got congo next right and congo dr congo and if we play against them we're more more than likely that you know they will have a lot of their team behind the ball hit us on the counter again and we will more than likely the press and everyone else will be giving England pelters but as long as we go through that's fine if we start playing against teams that are a bit more expansive and that don't play that way I think we'll get a you know a better performance like croatia they actually you know tried to come out and play against us and try to win the game but that's where we you know where we excelled especially in the second half we absolutely annihilated them created so many more chances so i just think because of the the matchups and the way the other teams have been playing it's not been favorable to us and you can get those types of games in the Premier League where if you've got you know the favoured one of the top six teams and someone's playing a low block and they're just defending for their lives you're not going to see lots of chances because they're trying to work the ball and trying to move the opposition out of you know position and it takes time and it takes the while to bait the press and for them to get out and sometimes they're not even coming out to press it's like you've got a score mate and but by the time it gets longer and longer in the game the nerves get you know more intense and then people kind of like and you know your stamina intensity the heat it all plays uh a big role but i'm not i'm not particularly worried i'm not here to say i think we've been playing well or anything like that but i'm not shitting the bed either you know uh if we do beat dr congo we've probably got mexico in mexico in the round after that and they haven't lost in mexico for quite a long time i don't think yeah i did see that i didn't know it was actually in mexico though that is not um fuck i mean we should we should be able to beat mexico like mexico a good home support is a thing yeah but if england want to win a world cup they should be able to beat Mexico right that that's kind of the way you got looking at isn't it it is oh man like that opening game that opening game of the Azteca uh the atmosphere was insane it's I think it's Mexico City not the Azteca we'd be playing them I think let me right okay but um yeah that's gonna be tough man it's still good it's still gonna be very tough but the thing is we like i mean whether it's playing capability that yeah we should be beating mexico but we have a lot of players that are prem experience champions league experience all of that stuff they've played in these types of situations before so they should be able to handle themselves it's not like they're top them and they're going to crumble in those fucking high pressured environments so i do have hope for them but um yeah hadn't realized that it's going to be in mexico that oh shit mate it is the azteca right we're out that is where we get so i've just seen it now yeah so they're like i think the gringo name for it basically is the mexico city stadium but it's a steady azteca so it's um yeah we're out that's i mean but what what a game though as well.

18:18TNC's apply. In-app only. They say you can tell a lot about a person by the contents of their freezer. So, what does a bottle of Jägermeister say? It says you have standards. You don't cut corners. And you like your Jägermeister shots the way they're meant to be enjoyed. Ice cold. As for the frozen taquitos and mystery leftovers, we'll keep that between us. Drink it cold or don't drink it at all. Jägermeister. Damn, that's cold. Drink responsibly. Jägermeister liqueur, 35 % alcohol by volume. Imported by Mast Jägermeister, US White Plains, New York. Was Hank on the Azteca? I think it might have been, you know.
18:55I'm pretty sure it was. I swear I saw an interview with them confirming that it was there. Come on. It was the Azteca. Yes, go on, get in. That's it, vengeance. Maybe we can do our own, yeah, our own hand of God. Can you imagine? I actually, I think somebody, I think he'd be taken out if that happened. Yeah. To be fair, that is a gross and unfair xenophobic mischaracterization of the Mexican people there. Right, okay. Judging them by their worst element, which, you know, we as British people should probably be wary of.
19:42You like Jude Bellingham because you see what he had to say about Harry Kane after the game against Panama? No, I didn't actually. What would enlighten me? What did he say? He basically, like he was just waxing lyrical about Harry Kane, just saying that he's enjoyed playing with him these past few years, that it's actually a great honour to be playing with what he considers England's greatest ever player. Just as the way he conducts himself in training, the way he acts as a captain is an example to everybody. He's a true leader, a wonderful professional. And, you know, it just, do you know what I mean?
20:23In that sort of, you know, game recognises game way. I look at Jude Bellingham, right? And I was saying this on one of my little World Cup pods, It's like, I feel that like, because Jude Bellingham doesn't get the Premier League exposure, we sometimes forget that like, we've got one of the best players in the world playing for England. Yeah, yeah. Do you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah. When suddenly when England starts playing again and you see him doing what he does, like that, the goal against Panama, do you know what I mean? It's sneaky, it's a little cheeky thing, but just to have the pitch IQ and that to do that.
20:53I think people get a bit lost with Bellingham because do you remember there was those reports of that he was a bit maybe disruptive in the England camp, maybe a bit arrogant that he wasn't getting on well with people and maybe a bit kind of, you know, attitude or arrogance or there was bits and pieces that were going around and I think that probably still lingers with people. So I don't know. I don't know. But yeah, he's like him at Madrid. For him to flourish at Madrid in the way he has done, I mean, you have to acknowledge that he's a fucking talented guy because a lot of people go to Madrid and get swallowed up no matter how good you are, like British, whatever.
21:46And he's gone there and he's ruled the roost. so to speak yeah there you go yeah there you go um but yeah he is it's it's nice for you know i still hold a torch for kane i think i always will and for someone to come out and be you know talking that way of him it only kind of um fervors what a fucking tremendous heroic man harry kane is man i'd love it if he could if he could lift that world cup that would be just imagine the photo yeah you know we've got that one of bobby moore sat on the shoulders don't we yeah yeah yeah the harry kane one although in this one in this world cup it'd be trump there won't it with him that's that's what the moment will be immortalized by him oh god sitting next to donald trump he'll have a cowboy hat on yeah cowboy hat and a big gulp in the other hand Make America great again.
22:43Cap on that Trump's just put on him. Fucking hell. I reckon Harry secretly likes all that sort of stuff. Do you?
22:54He's just very patriotic. He loves Tom Brady and all that, doesn't he? Yeah, he does. Yeah, yeah. You know. It does annoy me, though. It does annoy me. Like, I just can't help. As the sort of triggered Spurs fan, so much of the discussion around this World Cup, is all... Hasn't he gone on levels? Hasn't he gone on levels since he left Tottenham? Ridiculous, isn't it? He hasn't at all. Why are they so loathe to give us respect at all? Every single turn, do you know what I mean? He's gone to Bayern Munich, he's playing with better players. Mate, it's like fucking... He was doing that at Tottenham years and no one would acknowledge him.
23:34No one, because he was at Tottenham. They wouldn't give him his flowers. And now because he's at Bayern Munich, Like, you know, it's a different story. I'm not having it, Jack. In fairness, he broke Ronaldo's record. So he's 70 goals in a season now. Wow. So, yeah, so Messi's the only one to better that with, I think it's 90-something goals in a season he got in, I don't know, when he was like peak Messi. That's outrageous. Yeah, second was Ronaldo with 69 goals in a season, but big H, 70 and counting. So Ballon d 'Or, Ballon d 'Or incoming, mate, maybe. Yeah, hopefully. If he gets that work, imagine that.
24:23This is the sort of stuff I was memeing years ago. Do you know what I mean? I was making on Photoshop. Harry Kane with a World Cup and Harry Kane lifting the Ballon d 'Or. And this is, maybe he has gone on level since he left Tottenham. I don't know. No. No? He's still the same old Harry He was doing all of that stuff at Tottenham I'm telling you But he just Because he was at Tottenham And he wasn't part of The top four Or the red mafia They just wouldn't Give it to him You've got to win a Premier League before you can call yourself this You've got to do this before you can call yourself that Goalposts shifting all the time And now Like, now he's at Bayern and he's, yeah, he's won a couple of titles, won a couple of cups there as well.
25:13They got further into the Champions League. And now it's like, oh, he's changed his game. He's done this. He's done that. He's dropping deep. He always fucking dropped deep, you fucking slugs. I fucking watched him. I watched him binging balls all over the shop. Yeah. Week in, week out, you know. um saying that week in week out um i was doing one of those things earlier you know where you're supposed to be working i've got i've got some stuff to do but you know it suddenly dawns on me that it's more important to sort the top drawer out on my desk and um i didn't even know i had these but i found this i don't know if you can see that oh yeah that is a ticket stub for the fa carling premiership tottenham v arsenal monday the 2nd of january 1995 um so there you go block Do you remember what the score was?
26:15I do, actually. That was 1-0 to the mighty Tottenham. Was it? That was Gika Popescu scoring, and he was wearing gloves in that game, and it was fucking cold. Was that your first NLD? No, no, no, no, no. My first ever match was my... It wasn't a typical NLD. It was a friendly against Arsenal in the Mitre Cup held at Wembley, and there was a tournament, and it was Tottenham, Arsenal, Bayern Munich and AC Milan and we lost 3-0 to Arsenal. That was my first game. And the Tottenham end was sold out. So my dad bought us tickets in the Arsenal end and I had a big Tottenham flag. And my two memories from that game was my dad cupping his hands over my ears because I was crying because it was so loud.
27:08And the second was loads of Tottenham fans running up the side cage that separates the two teams and jumping over and fighting with the arsenal lot right in front of me that was my uh initiation so yeah i mean that one and also i remember that is because we're on um the wooden seats back at white art lane and i was standing on my wooden seat right and my sister was next to me and we'd scored and she nudged me and my seat went up like that and my leg, one went either side, so my nuts smashed onto the seat. Then the seat went forward and while everyone was celebrating, my ankle was just trapped in my seat.
27:50I was just laying on the floor, my dad having to get me out. But when you're a kid, you're usually all right, aren't you? Yeah, yeah. I'm fine, I'm fine. Yeah, yeah, run it off. I don't remember the wooden seats. Do you not? I don't, no. And on here as well, it says, members ticket invalid without members voucher do you ever remember getting the the members book and it's a ticket stub that you rip off and give it to them so that's that's how old you know i am when i went to see tottenham and then this second one is tottenham v sheffield wednesday saturday the 10th december 1994 block t where the fuck was block t oh that was um paxton upper that was i don't really remember much about that game if i'm honest i think we won 3-1 but i don't remember any of the scores maybe clinsman school actually thinking about it but um yeah i've got so many ticket stubs that are from those years fucking mad all all i can see is early 90s so it's after the taylor report early 90s they got rid of the last of the wooden seats at white heart lane so if anybody does it because my first game was 94 or 95 so i don't know maybe they just had wooden seats in a certain part of the stand.
29:24They had them at Everton in the away end, like Goodison Park forever. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It was nice, a nice little thing. On Tottenham right now, mate, Will Langshire, the talk of the town, the talk of the town is that we've knocked back a substantial or at least a significant bid from people are believing to be Sporting Club de Portugal, known as Sporting Lisbon. Is that what they call Sporting Club de Portugal? Yeah, so I spoke to Phil about this the other day. So yeah, they have a big thing that that's actually our name. We're not Sporting Lisbon. It'd be like calling us Tottenham London or something.
30:12you know right they say their name is Sporting Club de Portugal so um they uh so Spurs apparently want a significant amount of money for Will Langshear um I mean what do you make of that mate that's interesting I mean certainly interesting I mean like he had a in terms of loan he had a very good season at Oxford I remember they like him don't they yeah I've seen quite a few goals of him and good goals as well I I wouldn't really want to sell him if I'm honest I'd like to see how he fares in one of the kind of to go back to the championship again but one of the you know the middle into bigger clubs there at Oxford he would have been like the main man everything would have been fed into him like to see him try and apply his trade at somewhere a bit more tougher where there's a bit more pressure on it on him to deliver but if they have come in for a bid and depending on what the bid is I guess you'd have to look look at it I feel like that there might there is there might be a turn in Tottenham's transfer strategy, whereby if we have these players like Bergvall and clubs are coming in and they're willing to pay a decent amount of money, this would go to propping up other transfers.
31:57And by that, I mean, what it's reported for, what we're trying to sign Tonali for, what we're trying to sign Fernandes for all these I get that we you know that there's been a cash injection you know and all of this other stuff but we don't really want to go down like a Chelsea route where we're just spending a lot of money but and to be fair that you know when a player doesn't work out they are able to sell these assets on so maybe we're trying to kind of go Chelsea light by with our players that are a prospect but De Zerbi maybe doesn't feel like they're ready and his preference is to rely on senior players established players more experienced players so he may have said you're not ready yet maybe in two seasons we'll have another look and if a player is like well do you know what I feel like I can progress further in a different club if I take a step down if I go outside to Europe then you can't really argue you can't really it's hard to kind of put a block in someone's career path because you feel like they may have a they may have something they may have a chance at Tottenham and I would like to see Lanxier develop and Bergvall and Archie Gray and whoever else Sosa but then you've got to think of them and you know it's it's it's weird to be like oh like um no I'm just thinking about Tottenham what's what's good for Tottenham that's all I'm concerned about but you know these are young lads and I do want them to do well um and it is their career at the end of the day so if they feel like they're not going to get that stepping stone or that chance or that opportunity at Tottenham then you just have to say like fair enough go go and get you know go go and achieve your dream somewhere else but it's all dependent on how much that they're offering for for Lancashire really because like I said he did really well Oxford so I would like to see him integrated more into our first team or either get a you know a higher caliber loan have you seen him doing uh he's done the thing that footballers do where he's put out like a video of him training on his social media without a shirt on and he's just he's just twatting the ball top bins but i think he's sort of keen to show off the fact that like he's a unit now because you know he's one of those players that like was like a little boy i think we gave him did we give him like an appearance in the europa league or champions league and he got sent off didn't he and there's he scored a goal and then got sent off oh i think i can't remember i think it was i think yeah yeah and i think it was his debut oh fucking uh um yeah he scored a goal and got sent off but now he's suddenly like wedged he's suddenly and i guess what is he must be 21 22 now i guess so he's probably suddenly gone through like another one of those growth spurts he's wedged he apparently is like very eager to impress Roberto De Zerbi in pre-season so I'm always the thing is like I totally get what you're saying and I'm always going to be more like excited by the idea of one of the kids from the academy coming through and making it like I still you know I love those stories and I think that's what football is all about at the end of the day and I think yeah weirdly enough I think Spurs have like really lost sight of that the past few years um but like you as well I still I'm somewhere between and I heard you lot talking about it on fighting cock the other day and I know gal was like quite no nonsense about it in the respect that like I want to see Tottenham succeed more than I want to see young players realize their potential which sounds really brutal but at the end of the day I support Spurs and I really want Tottenham to to win something massive you know like I didn't for most of my life and then we got close to winning something massive under Pochettino and as people always say toothpaste out the tube and all that like I think we just because we brushed it I'm just now like well I can't want to see it that's the next step in it I want to see Spurs win the league so like do I want to see Spurs win the league having spent 100 million pounds on Savino or whoever?
36:44Or do I want to see Spurs, you know, heroically come sixth because we've given Mikey Moore and, you know, Lancashire minutes? I think there's only one answer there, isn't there? But it doesn't mean it has to be either or. I was wondering what your answer was going to be there. No, but do you know what I mean? It doesn't mean it has to be either or. But, you know, again, you have to trust the manager, don't you, to make the decision as to whether or not he thinks these players are good enough to add value at this point in time. But the lad's doing everything we can ask from him, isn't he? You know, I think he's a Spurs fan, I want to say.
37:23And, you know, it'd be the dream, wouldn't it? It'd be the dream to play for us. But I guess there's a wider point, mate. Like, we have been quite good. We've been linked with a lot of players this summer, but no strikers. equally I've not seen any sort of news or any reports that there's actually any interest in Richarlison from any clubs or that we're actively shipping him out same with Solanke and also now when you hear that like Will Langshere we're saying it would take significant money to get him out I wonder if this is Deserby or the club saying right now our like strike just we're talking like the top of the triangle top of the the system the striker actually the options we have maybe we're quite happy with that maybe we just need to build around them um because baker who i had on before made a very good point like comparing the profiles of like dominic slanky and danny welbeck who deserve he had at brighton before and deserve he was one of the managers who really really got a lot out of danny welbeck because he was a player that could play quite well in that link-up role.
38:31He could play well up top. He could hold the ball up. He could bring other players into the equation, the players who were coming in from the wings and all that type of stuff. And I know, like, I've been super critical of Dominic Solanke, and I'm not really the biggest fan of his. But that's more because I'm like, he's not scoring enough goals. Why isn't he getting in the box enough? Yeah. A lot of the stuff he does really well, though, are those things that apparently De Zerbi really wants from his striker. I think Solanke does work hard in the final third. Solanke does manage to hold on and retain possession really well in the final third.
39:04He does do really well in that way that we always used to make fun of Soldado being like a link-up player or that type of thing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So maybe, maybe actually Deserby's just looking at the players that we have and thinks, you know, maybe they're right. Fitness is always an issue, especially with Charleston and Solanke, fitness is always going to be the thing, right? But I guess, would you be happy going? We spend, say we spend£200 million on a mixture of the different players we've been linked with. Yeah. But we have the same strikers going into next season. Yeah. As well as Will Langshire.
39:38Yeah. What are you saying?
39:43I would like us to refresh that department. but if our money is being put into elsewhere, then that's fine. But it's like we did have a problem scoring goals last season. And although Richarlison grabbed a few, Solanke, it's not enough to raise us that level. Like you're saying with Solanke, he's great at linking up the play. he's really great at engaging the opponent's centre-backs holding them off and then giving the ball away he at Bournemouth he was known for being in the penalty box and just you know finishing and that's kind of why we signed him and we haven't seen that at Tottenham at all so maybe Deserby is like that's kind of the way I want to play if you've got I don't know Savinho and Kudus as your wingers and they're going to be there to skin the fullback and cut it back for Solanke.

40:51One touch, bang, or just bang it straight away. And that would work. Solanke at Bournemouth, I believe he didn't really suffer from any injuries. It came to Tottenham and then had a really bad injury. So his season was pretty fucked up anyway and he didn't get into full flight, unfortunately. So maybe this season might change. Who knows?
41:19but that for me, that's, he's the only safe option. If we kept hold of Richarlison, sure, he's a different striker, but I just don't think he,
41:38I think I'd like to see a, a more of a different profile. And plus he's, he's, injuries are just constant and he'll have like a wee purple patch during the season but that's about it I think it's time for us to cash in if we're able to with Richarlison and maybe have Solanke, Lankshit and then we buy someone else I don't know but I just feel like that our striking department is lacking. And if we are going into the season with Solanke and Richarlison as our strikers, Lanxiers as the third, then, you know, you just have to put your trust in De Zerbi, really. That he knows that he's going to be playing a brand of football, that we are going to be able to create enough opportunities for these lads just to stick the ball in.
42:43But I just don't see it running as smoothly as that. Do you know what I mean? I think injuries and rhythm of playing and things like that, it never works out that way. It's like we're here and we're like, oh, do we buy another 10? Well, we've got Madison and then we've got Xavi to come back. But Xavi is out. Let's just say he's out for the season, right? it there it's gonna it's for him to come through that injury to be comfortable in his own body to get the the rhythm and to be at full flight again with sharpness and everything that comes with it you're not going to see that this season i don't think at all and madison even though he's over his injury now and he's been training he'll be have a good pre-season and stuff it's still going to take him a while to to get back up to fitness and comfortable with his body again and thinking that he's not going to get injured and all these other things now if madison does get injured then what like who's gonna you know what is kulishevsky gonna you know deputize as a number 10 like where like where is he now like what what's happening with him no one goes to hank's for his spreadsheets They go for a darn good pizza.
44:04Lately, though, the shop's been quiet, so Hank decides to bring back the$1 slice. He asks Copilot in Microsoft Excel to look at his sales and costs to help him see if he can afford it. Copilot shows Hank where the money's going and which little extras make the dollar slice work. Now Hank's has a line out the door. Hank makes the pizza. Copilot handles the spreadsheets. Where taste recognizes taste. I think the other thing with Madison as well is that like doesn't often enter the conversation and I know footballers careers are getting you know they're getting more longevity yeah he's 30 in November do you know I mean like if you're sort of talking about like a classic sort of dynamic attacking player they're generally starting to come over their peak at this point which you know I look Madison I think when he came on half fit at the tail end of last season comfortably looked like our best player at times it really reminded me like of of how good he is and how probably I didn't value him as much as I should have done um but I agree with you but I agree with you he did all those nice YouTube videos and everything didn't he yeah exactly but But I do agree with you in that it's still going to take him time to get back up to speed.
46:22And with the nature of the injuries that he's had, which I think they were serious enough that he was asking doctors, is he ever going to play again? So what, Kuliseski? Madison. Oh, really? Oh, okay. Yeah. So did you see his first, or might have been his second one. It's been one of those things that I'll get around to watching but never actually do and just watch the clips that people have clips up on the internet. So yeah, he did. So one of them is about charting his recovery from injury and he's having really frank discussions with these sort of doctors, these surgeons, basically saying to him, like, am I going to be able to play again?
47:03So it's clearly on his mind, it was clearly that bad. Because I think it was an ACL after an ACL, wasn't it? Yeah, yeah. Did he have? Yeah. In quite quick succession, which is, you know, touch words and all that, but who knows if it happens again immediately. And then you probably would start to think, that's probably the end of it, isn't it, if it does. But look, we don't need to sort of go into that one until we get there. It's just, yeah, it's going to be interesting to see because I've been personally, I've been like really encouraged by a lot of business. I don't know. I think on one hand, I am choosing to be positive.
47:42I'm choosing to look at it as in like, you know, we were the man on death row that 11th hour, there was a final piece of evidence that proved that we were innocent and we've been let off. Do you know what I mean? That's kind of top them. So I'm like, every day is a blessing now. We're in the Premier League. Andy Robertson, great. You know, great. Yeah. Scotland's captain, Champions League winner. Hey, wonderful. Welcome aboard, lad. You know, that sort of thing. so when we are like you know when we're talking about Sandro Tonali for 100 mil and I see people complaining about it I just think just try and enjoy it a bit you know that's it's there's going to be an issue of any player that we sign right there's there's there's absolutely no way any player is going to be the exact even if we got Adam Wharton over like I can guarantee you even if we got Adam Wharton 120 million pounds there will be games where Adam Wharton looks shit yeah And you will look at him and people will say, that's why we shouldn't have bought him because he's not dynamic enough when people are running.
48:43He doesn't like being pressed. He doesn't, do you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah, yeah. There is a fundamental flaw in every single player's game because they're all human, right? Nobody is perfect. They're not automatons. They're not robots, right? So I sort of flipped that in terms of like, we're spending a hundred million pounds on Tonali, potentially, Italy's best player. I've seen I've watched him with my own eyes enough time I've seen enough highlight reels to know he is quality I'm not going to be told he's a lump and he's useless he's a quality quality player like he really is quality just got to try and enjoy it a bit do you know what I mean it's not worth sitting there crossing your arms being like I'm not going to be happy about this and I'm going to tell everybody why this is bad because what's the point of that are you enjoying that like no I think it's I think it's like the valuation people see the 100 mil and they bulk him immediately oh he's not 100 mil player well like in the transfer market maybe he's not but it's what he'd be worth to us and what he's worth to deservey now if he's the main player that deservey wants and he wants him to be the marquee signing and he's the one that feels like is going to be you know one of the parts of the puzzle that he's going to have for many years and to work with and they've already had conversations offline and I want you to be this player and you know sometimes you just get to a point it's like well I really want to play for this manager I really want to you know be part of this project I really want to join Tottenham or whatever and when the kind of when the stars align in that aspect you will just bid whatever you whatever you whatever you need to to get over the line and get that thing so yeah sure maybe he isn't worth a hundred million but to deserve it um and the way he wants to play and that he's got the right mentality and the skill set and everything that he needs fucking buy him then like i am yeah like you're saying that people could be picking whartons they could be picking whoever they want and as uh you know a a football fan you might like something different to what i like or you know someone wants you know better passing range someone wants someone to be more press resistant someone wants someone that's scanning all the time and you know uh give and go everywhere but it's at the end of the day it's what does erby wants and if he's the player that he wants and we are willing to pay a hundred mil for him then fuck it then i say go do it and i will enjoy every minute of it i mean like we're what like we have been banging on for years we don't spend money or we do actually spend money but our recruitment has been a bit shit right admittedly but it's like when we do spend money it's kind of like no not that player it's that I don't understand what people want and yeah it's fine to be like okay 100 mil I wouldn't have bought that player but then to the guy's not even signed for us and it's kind of like acting as though he's already been written off it's just I don't know man I'm not I'm not in that camp anyway I'm much more that I am hugely excited at the prospect of him joining us and him picking us and like you know there's rumors of city and the gooners and other people interested but he wants to come and join deserby and tottenham and join this project i'm all for it mate i'm all for it you see uh matis fernandez so have you are you you sort of got your finger on the pulse of all the different ITKs and that right in the top of the space.
52:46Yeah. You know that lad, that suzy, suzy exclusive with the little phone emoji? Yeah. Have you seen the knives are out for him at the moment? Because he's usually pretty bang on, right? Right. And then, so what's happened is, because he's usually pretty bang on, and then lots of other people start to say, this kid's legit. Now you've got a whole wave of people being like, hmm, legit is he? The naysayers, right? So he said a few days ago, he said something to the effect that like Fernandes is done. Matias Fernandes is done. Now, loads of other like journos and ITKs are saying that actually Man United are fully in the race.
53:27And obviously, Manuel Agati got done in, got nobbled for Uruguay the other day. I don't think they know exactly what it is. It's probably like an ACL or something bad. So he's going to be out for a while. and I believe there's like a... They're going to get an amount of money for it from FIFA. FIFA have like a club protection program now. Right, okay. If your players get nobbled at the World Cup. So Man United are going to get a load of money for Ugarte, which will probably cover his salary and all that type of stuff. So they've got a free hit to go and get someone like Manuel Fernandes now. Are you like gutted about that?
54:05Have you pinned your hopes on that? Or are you just sort of in that place of like, okay, on to the next one, if you get what I mean? Yeah, I mean, we've been linked very heavily with Tonali and Fernandes and with whatever ITK say and Jerno say that we've agreed this and that. Personal terms have been agreed and it's just between Tottenham West Ham or Tottenham Newcastle and all that stuff. For me, it's kind of like the intent that we're actually trying. Yeah. um and at the end of the day if he picks man united then he picks man united there's not much more we can do uh from the rumors of that we are willing to pay x amount in player wages and we've blown united out the water um or whether it's transfer fee or whether it's money up front or whatever you can only do what you can do essentially and maybe that it was done and dusted that as in we've agreed personal terms with Fernandes so that's that's you know we're not worried about that it's just the bit about how we are going to be paying West Ham and whether Man United are going to say do you know what we'll put 40 mil down straight away whatever it might be but you know he's I'm not going to sit here and lie and say that oh I watched him last season and he was this that and the other and it would be an amazing signing and stuff I can only go on um the bit parts that I've seen of him uh highlight reels as everyone else does so I mean I don't know man I'm kind of like put it this way I'm I'm used to um you know I'm a Tottenham fan I'm used to having players that are virtually signed on the dotted line only for another club to come in and swoop for them and sign them.
56:06Whether that's an agent that's been talking to Romano and saying, right, tweet this out or whatever, get a bidding war going, whatever it is, Tottenham being used in this, you know, as a pawn in these transfers, I'm used to it. So I'm not going to be, I won't be
56:27totally disheartened by it. I won't be deflated by it. I'm just, you've got to be mindful that we finished 17th twice in a row. And it was by the skin of our teeth last season that we weren't relegated. We've got no Europe this season either. So it's just going to be a run-of-the-mill domestic stuff. so the prospect of going to man united playing european football they got champions league yeah they did um and the project there you know they're getting a new stadium built the rebuild undercarat all of this stuff okay it happens man move on let's move on to the next guy then but i'm not going to be like oh fucking top them didn't do this didn't do that from all from what you here and by all means like you know it's it is hearsay but it feels like we have done as much as we possibly can to get that deal over the line same with tonali as well but at the end of the day if the players choose different clubs there's not much more you can do what about yourself i would really like him i don't know i would really like i i he's one of those players that Like when I've watched West Ham, I think it was even against us or it was probably against Arsenal if I was doing a hate watch or something like that.
57:54I think I tweeted something like, who is this Fernandes guy? Because he was absolutely killing it for them. I saw they got him for like peanuts from Southampton not long ago. I do think he's really good. I really like the idea of him and Tonali alongside one another. I sort of feel like they probably complement each other a bit. it probably spells curtains for conor gallagher if you do sign those two but i mean we just gave conor gallagher the number eight shirt so who knows um yeah i guess i i just find it i just find it really interesting because there's also you know there's there's alex scott who's an alternative there that you know fernandez doesn't quite happen it's scott's got similar-ish sort of i'm not going to pretend to be nathan a clark here and say that i profile all these players but just in an eye test way.
58:45Similar sort of ball carrier, knocks the ball about. Do you know what I mean? He's less of a... He's less of like a disruptor and more of like somebody that's trying to, you know, create things in a ball-carrying, lay the ball off kind of way, right? And he's new sort of in this modern number eight type way. And the thing I do like about Alex Scott as well, he's a Spurs fan, you know, boyhood Tottenham fan. Arsenal are apparently sniffing around Alex Scott as well. I think save the boy from that. Do you know what I mean? You've got to say, if he's a Spurs fan, right, of course, as a professional, he probably would think, well, I can't really turn down going to Arsenal.
59:24But I sort of feel like he would, he would come to us over them. Because of that, I think there would be that little bit in the back of his head that would think like, and that inadvertently, because this isn't just petty stuff. If there's enough of that little mechanism in there, then there's enough of that little mechanism when it is Tottenham 2-1 down in the North London derby in the 93rd minute that gives him that extra little bit of rocket fuel. Do you know what I mean? To go get the ball and ping one from 30 yards because he wants to be a hero for Tottenham. Knows his old man's up there in the stands.
59:58Do you know what I mean? The same fella that took him to those games when he was a little boy. You know, it's just, I want a bit of that. So if Fernandes doesn't happen, forget about it. get Alex Scott in do it you know got a few got a few listener questions here Rick okay
1:00:21Richie Richie Cripps on on Twitter asks well he says less of a less of a less of a question more of a statement says who from the fine cock has the biggest willy and if you can't answer does that mean the friendship group is a farce? I mean, I haven't seen everyone's, I'll be honest. I've seen Flav's way too much. I am going to go with, because obviously you could go like, you know, Route 1, Big John Bass, biggest lad there, but it doesn't always amount to like whoever's the tallest has the the biggest really so i am gonna go with i'm gonna go with cow on this one because he's a fucking lump and i i'm i'm like i've noticed this because joe i can't when did i first actually meet cow i think i maybe met cow like not that long ago and i was staggered i've i thought do you know in my head cow was like a little a little skinny gobshite yeah that's what it was last room he's like six four yeah yeah yeah yeah what what's this i can't make fun of him about like him wrestling anymore he'll beat me up yes i um i haven't seen cows unfortunately uh cows listening i would like to i would very much like to um check that out but uh yeah i'm gonna go with cal here he'll send you a photo of that immediately the deviant yeah yeah i'm hoping yeah this is my come and get me plea
1:02:14why you're tapping him up um why have you seen flavs lots of times by the way uh because just you know when we're younger being pissed up and stuff like that But, yeah, I've just seen it an insane amount of times, really. Okay. Yeah. Pissed up, sat on the sofa, watching a film. Yeah, doing a podcast, just got his dick out. That's it, yeah. Yeah, always got his dick out. Do you remember William Sleber in the French dressing room that time when he... Yeah, yeah. It wasn't him doing it, but he filmed one of his teammates playing with himself just openly in the dressing room. I don't even want to get into what professional athletes get up to, to be honest, because I think they're all...
1:03:05No, I swear as well that Mawani was part of this. Was he? I think so. I think so. I don't know where he featured in this, but um yeah i mean changing rooms are mad in't they they are fucking crazy places which i tell you what like is all being completely stripped under the rug nowadays but do you remember like the england team used to go through that phase like lampard terry all those boys where they would go on those things that they call like roasting sessions where they would have like orgies where it'd be just basically like they find a woman that would be interested in you know being pleasured by large groups of England footballers do you remember all this in like the 90s yeah the roasting that word does it does ring a bell and I was thinking it's completely like you see Lampard like talking on TV and all this sort of stuff now he was a dirty little pig you know what I mean he was a real real little monster um look if he's if he's amongst perfectly consenting adults who am i to judge that's all that's all i'm saying that's that's the important part consent is the key part of the equation exactly exactly i said um william g on patreon says what's worse norovirus during a heat wave or seeing thomas frank on the television oh god both equally as bad like it really annoyed me when I seen Thomas Frank on the TV and he's saying like he's going through all his you know his repertoire of if a defender moves here then you've got to do this and you've got and I was just like I don't believe a fucking word you're saying mate you nearly got us relegated I hate you like I absolutely hate you he's scum I don't want to hear all this like oh he's a nice man by no No, not having it for a second.
1:05:13It really, what else really annoyed me, and it was just so him, is when he finally said something about Tottenham and he got asked by the press, so, you know, how do you feel about Tottenham? And he said something nice about us. This episode is brought to you by State Farm. You know those friends who support your preference for podcasts over music on road trips? He said, oh, there's all these hardworking people at the club, and they deserve to go on and be one of the best clubs, and they will be. And you think, just be horrible about us. just say they're spursy and they're bobbins do you know what I mean?
1:07:35I think he did say something like that I think he said something like there's a sickness within the club or something like that and he didn't say there's a sickness I swear he said something like that I'm telling you a sickness? something like that something like bad behind the scenes he did he didn't say there's a sickness I hope I've made that up i think you have made that where is it no no he did he did he did he said something that wasn't you know wasn't on brand there we go uh best thomas frank quotes no i don't want to see the best quotes as his first someone help me out here he did say something a bit um offhand about the not about the team but you know the backroom kind of managerial he said something along the lines of that you know not everything's right there's a sickness that he did I'm telling you I've got I don't know no ice is tickle be sacked.
1:08:57Tom's Frank quotes. First interview since being sacked by, I'm asking AI. So I was probably going to say, hmm, here's a great thing that he says. Do you know what I mean? So he says, leaving Tottenham has given me the chance to step back and reflect on my journey so far. Football management is a profession that demands complete commitment every single day and periods like this are a rare opportunity to assess, learn and gain a fresh perspective. From the outside, it may have looked like a time of many challenges at Tottenham when results were not what we wanted. From within, however, it becomes clear why this club is so special.
1:09:41It's full of talented people who work tirelessly every day. There have been conversations and opportunities since leaving Spurs, but I've decided not to rush into my next role. For me, this summer is not the right time to go back into management. When the time is right, I will look forward to my return as a manager, ready to embrace the job with great energy and dedication. Now, so... And there's a sickness behind the scenes that cannot be cured. A sickness at Tottenham. This is what Chuck GBC says. Chuck GBC says, No, I couldn't find any evidence that Thomas Frank said there was, and it says in quotes, A sickness at Tottenham.
1:10:24I swear he did. I swear he said something. Maybe not the word sickness. He said that there was problems behind the scenes. I'm sure. I'm sure of it. It says that you might be mistaking this with articles that have been written about Tottenham during Tottenham's time there. Maybe, yeah. So it's picked out... What's it said?
1:10:53you might be on something here you might be on to hear something mate right so before he was sacked in one of his last interviews before he was sacked as tottenham manager he said i understand that it's going to be easy to point the finger at me but i also think it's never only the head coach or the ownership or the directors or the players or the staff. That's what he said. Right, no. So again, sat on the fence to the end, Thomas Frank. What was the last question? Ali Jamieson says on Patreon, what would cause Ricky to do a Fathers for Justice style protest, scaling the stadium dressed as Spider-Man?
1:11:40if I were to answer that I would say it would be Arsenal signing Harry Kane I just wouldn't have it I would do whatever it is to make that deal not happen I mean that would be rank
1:11:54so I'm this is in a Tottenham sense right what would make me I mean normally I would have said I mean he doesn't specify Tottenham to be fair I would have said about relegation, but we nearly got there and I didn't do anything like that. It was just sad, wasn't it? Yeah, I don't know, actually. Because what I always thought, as in close to relegation, that I would be outside, you know, change for Tottenham, I would be holding banners, I'd be marching down the high road, I would be out there. But you just, I don't know, you become so, what's the word I'm looking for?
1:12:53Sad. Like a bit apathetic to it all in the end. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Because what you once thought was the impossible and it's happening and you don't really have any control over it. And I guess if we had have gone down and there were, like, movements, then I would have been obviously all on board and done any kind of fathers for justice, dressing up in a Batman costume. What about Campbell back as manager? Oh, fucking hell, yeah. If Deserby doesn't work and he goes at Christmas and they bring Campbell back, what would you do then? That would do it, wouldn't it? Yeah, I would go to the top of the stadium where the gold cockerel is and I would...
1:13:49Piss all over. I would abseil halfway down and then just drop my trousers and just start pooing, pooing everywhere. And they'd have to try and come up and get me and I would just keep on pooing. That would be my dirty protest. He's got poo on him. He's pooing on the pitch. Don't let him poo on the pitch. Trying to catch it with a bucket. Stop it. like one of those old lcd games remember that when you have to you know it'd be the two firemen with the stretcher trying to get the people falling out of the beds yeah that'd be me that'd be my protest benny you could you know like the geezer the the brexit anti-brexit guy that plays all the loud music outside of number 10 oh yeah yeah yeah you do that you'll be like booming the benny hill theme out from like a bluetooth speaker as you're doing it there just bum bum just out at an angle so you know
1:14:52it's uh it's been a pleasure mate um what you got on what you got on lads and on this week if people want to listen to to lads and on uh so lads and on if anyone like you all would have heard about it but lads and on is a podcast that flav and i do away from tottenham like it just imagine it we talk all the stuff that we talk about on the fighting cock that isn't tottenham is spoken about on that podcast but generally speaking we have a central topic which is suggested to us by the audience and then we will discuss said topic the topic for this week and the podcast dropped today is about dreams so we we speak about the the weird dreams that we've had what do you know that doctors don't you know uh they don't actually know why we dream there are a certain amount of theories of why we dream but no one actually knows why we dream so we talk about a little bit of the scientific dreams right i really vivid horrible ones tell me one now i had a dream so i had a dream not long ago like a couple of weeks ago that i was basically i was sort of in a it's usually always in a home that vaguely represents like a childhood home but not quite do you know what i mean it's like it's similar to and like we used to have this like so our kitchen would like back onto the garden so there'd be a door that would lead out into the garden from the kitchen right and i was getting myself a glass of water and i just looked to the door and it was like this outline of like a really tall dark figure so tall you could only see like the shoulders at like the very top of the door and i was just like banging on the door shouting at him to go away and i was gonna and i was then i was shouting in my seat i woke charlotte up and she's like wake up you're having a dream and i was like just howling um it was yeah stuff like that weird horrible stuff and why why why are we dreaming of that so we we kind of have our own theories about why why we dream about certain things um my latest dream that i had that i didn't actually you know didn't get to tell it on the pod maybe it was after we had recorded and i've messaged this gentleman since now i had a dream that i got a tv presenting job and i was really excited and i'd been scouted out and when i arrived there the uh the director the guy who's running the entire production was none other than ben haynes really and i was really excited and we were like little boys giggling around the studio playing pranks on people uh we were just like you know just just like just frolicking around the studio just you know and then i got into my chair to do my presenting bit and it all changed and he was like rick you you're not getting the rhythm you're not getting the tone and i was like i'll go go again next time and then i'll do it and then yeah and then he was just like Rick you really have to you know buck your ideas up mate you you're murdering this and I'm like Ben I'm doing what you're telling me to and it just got worse and worse and then I was just like fuck fuck and then everything just started unraveling before me and Ben was really angry at me and then I woke up and I was like what the fucking hell was that about did did did you hate Ben a little bit when you woke up as well no I was embarrassed for myself I was embarrassed for myself that uh i'd let him down yeah yeah yeah yeah that i was like like he'd got me this gig and it was my big chance and he knew that you know what i could bring to the show or something like that and i just let him down because i wasn't doing what i was supposed to be bringing to the show um and he got he was he was stern he wasn't like uh shouting at me but you know when you have disappointed someone rather than angered them and i could feel it and when i woke up in the morning i was like oh man i feel i feel really bad that i've let him down on this obviously it was all a dream it was all all right but um yeah where did that come from why did that happen like if your brain is trying to sort information from the day why is ben there i also i also had a dream that when i was a kid this was when i was a kid and it stuck with me forever there was like i was at my front door and there's a thudding at the front door and then a cow broke in and the cow was like had makeup all over its face and was covered in like confetti and silly string and party streamers it was chasing me through my house and I just remember waking up hearing this like noise of like this mad cow chasing after me scared the shit out of me man I was just a little boy you know why did I dream that stayed with me all these years amazing it's always a pleasure where can people listen to lads and on and follow lads and on support the show if they want to lads and on you'll find us Jack is joined by Ricky from Lads Anon and The Fighting Cock to digest the latest Tottenham Hotspur transfer news and international talking points. We kick things off with some England World Cup chatter, focusing on the frustrating media fallacy that Harry Kane is only now being recognised as a truly great player because he left Spurs, completely ignoring the world-class levels he consistently hit during his time in N17. We also discuss exactly what this England side needs to do to go all the way and win the competition.
Attention then turns back to Tottenham, starting with the news that the club has turned down several serious bids for young striker Will Lankshear. Does this show a commendable faith in youth, or is it a worrying sign that we aren't in the market for a new number nine? We evaluate whether a striking rotation of Dominic Solanke, Richarlison, and Lankshear is enough firepower for the upcoming campaign.
We also dive into our midfield hunt following the news that Manchester United have entered the race for Mateus Fernandes after Manuel Ugarte's injury at the World Cup. Does this signal game over for Spurs? We look at the wider strategy of putting all our eggs into the Sandro Tonali and Fernandes baskets, and debate whether a pivot to Bournemouth's Alex Scott—a boyhood Spurs fan—might be the smarter move. Finally, we wrap up the show as Ricky answers your listener questions.
