This is a very special episode for us because it's our 700th episode. and that is really special to me because when I started this podcast I was just you know a consumer looking for really really great products that resonated with me that made me feel like I fit into this industry I know a lot of you can relate growing up there were hurdles you know along the way of like finding products that were great for you or just being able to trust recommendations and for me that was definitely a journey and so when I started the show it was with that enthusiasm and I got to meet such phenomenal people along the way so far I mean we started off with a huge focus on beauty editorial and understanding how editors think how some of the greatest minds in beauty from a journalistic perspective how they're thinking and how they approach beauty because they were you know growing up for me they were the experts you know I was a total magazine girl through and through and I think you know that's what what our beginnings really were, were this understanding of like, what is beauty?
1:08You know, who makes the beauty? Who makes these products? Who's behind them? And, you know, that evolved with us featuring the most phenomenal brands, I think, that exist in the beauty industry, the wellness industry, the hair care fragrance, all of the beautiful areas that we've touched upon so far with the show. These are the brands that we all grew up and looking at and, you know, kind of grew up with. And so it's been really an honor to be able to host the guests that we've had on to learn from them. More importantly, I can't even express to you guys that, you know, I think my favorite part about being able to create this space with you has been this idea that we're learning together.
1:48I learn every time I interview a guest and I hope that you guys are, you know, kind of on my side of the chair and the mic and really learning with me. And I just am always in awe of how much knowledge there is, you know, whether that's ingredients or understanding how cosmetics is manufactured, what it takes to create a great brand from the business perspective or understanding where people like celebrities and thought leaders and visionaries fit in to really create a full experience for us. I think that is so exciting to think about, to understand how everything works. That is our goal at Skincare Anarchy.
2:28That's my goal. And I hope that you guys take that away whenever you tune in, just as much as I do when I get to talk to somebody new. So all that ranting aside, I also wanted to take this time to discuss some of the great things that we've been able to launch along the way in the last four and a half years. We started off as a podcast, but we've evolved. We have this beautiful publication now, which many of you might know about. It's Eugene Magazine. It's our expression in the editorial world of the beautiful features and what we've gained from just interviewing some of the best and most talented personalities in the space.
3:02We try to, you know, culminate every year into this beautiful piece of work that really amplifies the episodes, the interviews, but also shines a light on some of the most innovative and amazing brands out there. And, you know, this is something that's very dear to my heart because growing up, I know a lot of you read magazines just like I did. And we used to look at them as just holy grails to us when it came to recommendations, to understanding the articles that were written. And my dream has always been to highlight that again and to really bring that feeling back in some way. And so for me, Eugene really represents that.
3:40And I hope that it does resonate with you guys. You know, what we're trying to bring to you through the beautiful artwork and the beautiful placements and the wonderful guides and content that we create in addition to just our interviews. I hope that comes across. And there are some really, really fun things on the horizon with Eugene. so if you guys are not already following our Instagram and our socials, please do so. Everything is going to be linked in the show notes for this episode, but check out Yujin because we're trying to make that a platform that goes way beyond just beauty, you know?
4:11It's a place to really celebrate everything that we love, everything that teaches us, provides knowledge, inspiration, you know, anything that kind of informs us in a non-biased way about things that are, you know, shaping the world of what we consider self-care as consumers. And so that's really what we want to bring to you through Yujin and through the efforts that we're doing, whether they're on social media, whether it's highlighting the products we love the most from our spreads, you know, we're just trying to bring you the absolute best of the best so that your life can be a little bit easier and their recommendations you can really rely on.
4:46So that's Yujin. But in addition to Yujin, there's another part of this. And I think this is the most meaningful part to me, you know, from this perspective of a scientist, it's very close to my heart. I think that a lot of people can resonate with the vision that I have here, which is the idea of having a safe place in terms of understanding what's really good in the skincare industry from a perspective of science. For example, so many of you out there, you guys know what it's like buying a cleanser or a serum or a moisturizer, wanting to understand that entire inky list wanting to understand what is this product why does it matter that this was created what is it going to do for my skin is it going to make me feel beautiful at the end of the day you know what's the science of it what's the logic of it all of that what I've tried to do is put that into a regulatory framework and create something called the safe seal the safe seal was literally designed from this perspective of not looking at how we've done it so far in the United States when it comes to regulation of cosmetics and over-the-counter products, but really look at it with a fresh lens and understand how the business of these industries works and how that plays a part in what's created and why, and really putting some, you know, kind of, I guess, context to here's the hypothesis, here's the theory of what this brand is trying to do.
6:15Now, does that actually validate, you know, in the scientific realm? If they're selling you a wrinkle cream does that wrinkle cream have a backing like have they shown it in clinical trials are there actual results and then who reviewed that to make sure that the brand was being honest about it you know making sure that scientists are able to sit down and look at the data and be able to validate that brand's efforts that is really what the safe seal represents is this peer review of what's being put out there because i know i've seen it and i'm pretty sure you guys have that the industry is definitely growing at a very, very rapid pace.
6:51The skincare industry specifically is, you know, it's leaps and bounds ahead compared to what it was five years ago. And it just keeps going. And I think a part of the confusion that consumers face is now that we know that, hey, yeah, OK, I should look for a brand that has clinical trials. I should look for a brand that can explain to me why they're using the ingredients they're using and what those ingredients do. But more so, I also want to understand how does all of that fit together, right? Like we all want to understand that. Why is this the best approach? So that's what the Safe Seal is here to do.
7:23It's to review brands and then also provide context for consumers that is really clear, really easy to understand and trustworthy. And so the Safe Seal is basically a seal that represents that, you know what, what this brand is doing and what they're telling you through their marketing is valid because we We looked at the science and we looked at it from like multiple different angles and actual scientists who are experts in their field were part of a review committee that reviewed these products. And they were also part of the committee that put together the criteria that the products have to meet to actually be viable when you're talking about treating the largest organ of our body, which is the skin, you know.
8:01So that's what we're doing with the safe seal. And I'm really excited. We have a lot of really cool things that we want to reveal to you in 2025 coming up with the seal. I can't wait for you guys to check it out. I can't wait for you guys to respond to what we're doing because I know how passionate all of us are about what we're putting on our bodies, why we're using the products that we're using. And I can't wait to just see this movement grow even more in 2025 and the years to come. So with all of that being said, I really wanted to take this time and just chat and say thank you. First and foremost, I cannot tell you how humbled we are that every day we watch this movement, this podcast, this community grow.
8:38every day you guys are chiming in with real questions that are inspiring us to create better content to create more content and pushing our own boundaries to how to educate and how to educate ourselves and then also share that with our community it means so much to this entire team that we have this direct feedback from you guys so i really urge you if you haven't yet checked out our emails or how to really reach us and chime in please do so make sure you follow us on spotify podcast, Apple podcast, wherever that you're tuning in. Like, I can't tell you enough how many times I've really sat down and racked my brain about what you guys would like want me to put out there. Who should I interview that's going to be of real true value to you, whether you're a brand founder or a consumer or a teacher or an educator whatever space you find yourself in relative to our content i want to make sure you tune in and you get something great out of it so if you have any suggestions if you're like you know i don't like the way you do this or i really love the way you guys do this let us know please i'm begging you i want to learn from you guys so you know with that being said i i just want to say i hope you've loved the past four years the past 700 episodes and I really, really urge you to follow us on all of our channels now because we are growing in different ways, in different directions.
