0:28You're listening to the Sky Sports Premier League Podcast. and downs of senior football management for Darren Fletcher whose team trailed in the first half to an own goal from Aidan Heaven but got back on an even keel in the second half by Benjamin Szczesko coming to life with two goals his first two since the two he'd scored in his entire United career to date. Jadon Anthony then came off the bench and in a whirlwind scored a cracker of an equaliser but beyond that Manchester United still went close. Two long range efforts from Shea Lacey. One that crashed off the bar and another one that had Burnley Hearts fluttering late on that went wide.

1:15Burnley have put up a good fight and for them it's a decent point but How do you address this one from Manchester United's point of view, Gary? Look, it's been a struggle for both teams recently. A change in management this week. I don't think there'll be too much joy at what they've seen tonight. That doesn't look like it anyway. But they were better in the second half, but they'll be really disappointed with that second goal that they conceded. It was good from Burnley's point of view, but I think Manchester United have to defend that better. and another two points dropped against teams near the bottom of the league.

1:51Wolves, Leeds, Burnley, West Ham. Dropped so many points, this Manchester United team, in this last three or four weeks and keep missing those opportunities to go into fourth place. Yeah, three draws in a row now for Manchester United, so fourth place again closes to them for now as it finishes at Turf Moor. Burnley 2, Manchester United 2. Good point for Burnley. I'm not sure how helpful that will be in their bid to escape the relegation places, but for Manchester United, it felt like they had it in their grasp after Cesc's double early in that second half. Will it feel like two points dropped, Jamie?

2:28Absolutely. When you go 2-1 ahead, you're thinking, OK, they could go get three or four and start to enjoy it. They obviously never had that luxury. Congratulations, obviously, to Burnley. You know, Jay Nantes comes on, scores a good goal, good equaliser from their perspective. But when you get in that position, you go 2-1 ahead. But I think it just shows you the inconsistency right now. Gary Neville's right. They're dropping points against teams at the bottom. They haven't got the qualities to kill teams off. Tim, what else do you think we learn? Or what will Darren Fletcher and Manchester United have learned from that?

2:54Well, I think the positive is Cesco scoring. You know, he's scoring two goals. Hopefully he gets some confidence from that. He's took six months to turn up at Man United. I'm pleased for the lad. You know, he's had a tough, tough run of it. I had him off the pitch at halftime. Never to wear a Man United shirt again. I wasn't going to remind you, Tim. I wasn't going to take you there. No, listen, I stand by what I'm saying. He's not good enough to play for Man United. But he looked it. If he plays at that level, surely. Yeah, no, he's turned up for one game against Burnley who are going to get relegated.

3:23Look, fair play to him. Hopefully he gets some confidence and we start seeing something different for him. I put him in my fantasy team. Well, maybe it helps if he's got Bruno closer to him, if he's got crosses coming in from left and right. When Bruno come off, I know he's not been injured, but when he comes off the pitch, I think they lose control. I think he's one man who can put the foot on the ball. he passes the time over, he passes it to the right people at the right time and I think they miss that guile, they really do so they're well short of quality, that's what Man United are as Jamie says, you need to be able to kill the game off you need to be able to dictate the pace of the game and they don't do that, even when they're ahead so it's like you said about Cesc, it's not rocket science that you get a left-sided player on the wing with Dorgun crossing the ball into good areas so he can come and attack it I feel sorry for centre-forward sometimes because they have to make six runs.

4:13The winger gets it, goes to cross it, chops it back, chops it back. They've made five runs. All of a sudden, much easier to mark. When the ball comes in early like that, that's what he needs. That's what he's had before. That's what he needs. To be fair to Fletcher, he switched him over at half-time and he's on the favoured left foot. Fantastic delivery. This is the first goal he's scored. We saw the Bashi Humphreys cross the Aidan Heaven deflection to give Burnley the lead at half-time. Great pass. Great way to pass and a fantastic run. Is it just about taking a shot early as well, Tim? It is, yeah, but it's all about Bruno.

4:47I mean, he's instrumental. He knows he's a little swivel there and the weight of pass and a good run from Cesco and a good finish. Does he almost dictate that movement from Cesco? Absolutely. Is he almost telling him where to go? Absolutely. That's exactly what he does, but the pass has to be with the correct weight. I just think he's a special player, Bruno Fernandes. He really is. Yeah. It's a great play. I mean the ball by Casemiro, gets it on the half turn. This is the goal you're talking about when Dorgue is on that left-hand side. This is what he can do. Yeah, you can see now he's got his tail up.

5:16You can see him there. He's starting to have a bit of movement. He wants the ball. He's got a bit of running here. He makes two runs, opens his body up. Really good finish. Really good. See look, he's asking for the ball. He's checking his shoulder. Where am I going to be free? Gets onto his blind spot. Then he nips back in front of him. Lovely finish. Good for him. Good cross as well. But we see it so often with wingers with their opposite foot. I would like to see this become more of a thing now. Makes it a lot easier for strikers. If you ask him, does he prefer a left-footed boy cross? And of course he does.

5:45Looks simple, doesn't it, when it's executed like that. And in that period between Burnley's two goals, it was almost total domination from Manchester United. 18 shots to three, 8-0 on target. And Burnley only had three touches in the opposition box during that quite lengthy period as Manchester United dominated possession as well. But Jadon Anthony was to have the final say in this game. Someone who was on fire at the start of this season, but he's had a long wait for this goal. Found himself on the bench of late, but what a strike. This is Tim. Yeah, he just takes it there on his back foot. He just wants to get out onto his left foot.

6:15Martinez defending is so poor. I mean, I'm not sure where he's going there, but he twists his whole body around. But you see Jadon there, a little glimpse over his shoulder, wants to get it onto his left foot. Martinez should know that, and he bends it into the top corner. Such precision there with the strike. It's a wonderful strike from Jadon. Scott Parker's sides, they lack quality, but they never go away. They always fight until the end. Plenty of effort. A great goal. Really good finish. But you're right about Martin is there. He gets caught, doesn't he? He chops it back inside. You completely lose him.

6:44Great finish though. Pleased for him. Can you see any way out for Burnley? No. No, I can't really. No, not if I'm honest. I'm a big fan of Scott Parker as a person, as a manager. But it's very difficult for him. You know, they haven't got the players, the quality. They didn't really have that go. and the recruitment that Sunderland had that's really paid off, hasn't paid off for Burnley so far. So, no, it's going to be really difficult for them. They've got to go on an incredible run. And like tonight, they're the games that you somehow got to get three points. It's going to be very difficult for them.

7:12And the results tonight were really bad for them as well. All the other teams at the bottom won. And for West Ham, not a good couple of nights for them. They haven't really had their breaks so far. They certainly got one in the first half when that deflected cross from Bashir Humphreys, who's only just come into the side recently, You saw him claw one off the line earlier as well, but he was celebrating this as if this is very much his goal, Tim. Yeah, heaven goes out there. He tries to defend with the wrong foot. He's got more interest in putting his hands behind his back, but Casemiro here, Lugati, they're so deep.

7:44And Casemiro goes and engages. Dalo knows he's got a problem there, 3v2. But he just switches off and Humphrey's just running behind him and he whips a decent ball in there. But heaven, for me, has to go with his right foot. He's more interested in putting his arms behind his back. Yes, they get fortunate. Of course they do. Loops over the top of Lammons into the back of the net. Fortunate for Burnley. They haven't had much of that this season. And they'll take advantage of that. And you thought from there on in, they get their tails up. But Man Utd stuck with it. You know, I think he made a few tweaks, second half, Fletcher.

8:15Hopefully they can go on a run now. But, you know, it's still poor, isn't it? You know, we talked about control. Did the system look better, though? It's not about the system. All right. Yeah, I mean, that goal there was your short there. Isn't the point of getting your best players in the right position? Yeah, but people talk about, free at the back's not a bad system. It's a good system. But the players that he's played in those systems and the mistakes that he's made along the way have been the mistake. Yeah. You know, that's where it's all fundamentally gone wrong for him, you know, and taking off players.

8:42When you're, if you have to, when things aren't going your way, you have to maybe go to a back four or change it. Maybe, look, we're losing this game. They've got a man sent off. You don't stay free at the back. And that's what Amrim kept making. Those are the mistakes. So even if the next manager comes and wants to play three at the back, you can still have success playing it. Do I think it's the way forward for Man Utd? No, because it's more of a counter-attacking system. But it is still a good system. Just on that point, Jamie, we can show you the stats from the game. You talk about the counter-attacking system of the three at the back and the difference that maybe it makes if you do play four at the back for Manchester United.

9:12And you get Bruno Fernandes playing up high on the pitch. 30 shots that Manchester United have had, the most they've had in a Premier League game this season. This has come away from home, remember, as well. An expected goals figure is two more than Burnley. So you'd normally expect to be winning a game on that basis. But they've had one fly in from the deflecting in the first half. And then Jane Antti has scored that cracking, equalising goal as well. Did you see the evidence that this is the way forward? Is that enough evidence that this is the way forward for four at the back, three in midfield?

9:42I think it's easier for every player to learn to play four at the back. I think they're better set up to do that. They need to get in support of Sesko. So it helps you get support of him. Get Bruno Fernandes on the ball further up the field. Garty and Casemiro is not the answer in the midfield area. They need someone in there. If they're going to get Bruno on the ball and Kunio on the ball, they need them on the ball higher up the field. And more often than what they did tonight. And if they do that, I think they can cause problems. They can create chances and they can win football matches. But I go back to what Jamie says.

10:11Whether it's three at the back or whether it's four at the back, the same mistakes are being made. We saw that there with Casemiro letting Humphreys go for that first goal. You know, that has nothing to do with systems. That's just the fundamentals of running back and being disciplined and being responsible when you need to defend. We are in 90 plus 12 at St James' Park and there has just been what I think is the winning goal. And it's come from Newcastle United and Harvey Barnes. There you go, turning shot. Delirium at St James' Park. You fancied him to score. He's done it twice now. He just always threatens a goal, doesn't he?

10:48I mean, the only chance here is possibly if there's a handball in there in a couple of occasions, but he swivels on that one brilliantly. It's so unfair. There was a really... I'm not sure if it was a penalty that they can see. It was a penalty. It was so unfortunate. Aronson with his hand up. Just right at the end of normal time, Newcastle got a penalty to make it 3-3, as Jamie's explained, the Brendan Aronson and Fortune incident. and that was converted by Bruno Guimaraes. So a deeply extended stoppage time because of an injury and treatment to Fabian Scherer as well. And Daniel Farker can't believe what he's seen.

11:22His team are beaten in seven games going to St. James' Park. They were seconds away from winning the match and now they've ended up losing it instead. Great finish. Reacting, staying alive, Tim. He's done that a few times this year, Tim, hasn't he? Great finish. That's what I'm saying. There may be a hand there. A little bit of hand. is this is this going to come to lead's rescue could there be another late twist no they've kicked off again they've kicked off again so this is live now but this has been one of those nights where anything can still happen stoppage time bruno's habit get it down the field it's been an unbelievable night of football it has been incredible hasn't it every game has had a story and a little twist.

12:03There's a Mendo story. Absolutely wild. Fitting as well. And I know you both know Kevin Keegan. It was confirmed earlier that he's suffering from cancer and he was the great entertainer for Newcastle United and perhaps fitting that a 4-3 has happened tonight for Newcastle United against Leeds. It's gone their way, yep. And there is their hero. There's another hero who kicked every single ball in the middle of the park, Bruno Gimaraes. Newcastle might feel they got away with one there, but they take their winning run to three on the bounce. So this is how it's finished tonight. What a night of football.

12:38This one was one way and then the other way and guess what? Antoine Semenya it was on what is his final appearance we think for Bournemouth scoring the winning goal again in stoppage time to beat Spurs 3-2. Thiago at the double again for Brentford as they beat Sunderland 3-0. Enzo Le Fay had a chance to equalise from the penalty spot at 1-0 down. Well, that was saved by Cuiver Kelleher. No goals at Selhurst Park between Palace and Villa. It finished Everton 1, Wolves 1, but that didn't tell half the story because Everton finished with nine. Michael Keane and Jack Grealish both sent off there. Kukurea sent off for Chelsea earlier, who had equalised, but the winning goal from Harry Wilson, who's been on such a great spree recently.

13:21Manchester City dropping points again. Haaland scoring from the penalty spot. Mitoma equalising to make it 1-1. a bit of tension on the touchline between Herzl and Pep Guardiola. 2-2 in the game we've been watching at Turf Moor on 4-3, that game just finishing at St James' Park. You can scan that QR code, it will take you straight to the Sky Sports app where you can feast on all those goals in your own time. We will show the goals here later as well. So, Wolves now on seven points, unbeaten in three games, but still an awful lot of work to do. Burnley up to 13 points, West Ham stuck on 14, a seven point gap to Forest on 21.

14:01Leeds losing tonight for the first time in eight games on 22. Then Bournemouth climbing in terms of points anyway up to 24. Palace and Spurs on 28, Everton and Brighton on 29. Brighton dropping today.

14:21And reading upwards, Sunderland now in 10th spot. Fulham climbing to ninth, Chelsea down to eighth on 31, Manchester United slipping to seventh, Newcastle United have climbed the sixth now with three straight wins. Just behind Brentford, their highest position of a Premier League season outside August. Fifth place for Keith Andrews side, just behind Liverpool who go to Arsenal tomorrow. And then it's Manchester City on 43, Villa on 43 and Arsenal five points clear with a chance to stretch their advantage to eight when they face Liverpool at home tomorrow night.

15:09Hi there, Sumi Goulden here, the host of the Essential EFL podcast from Sky Sports. We're well into the swing of the season now and the action is hotting up nicely across the championship league one and league two on the pod i chat with the sky sports efl experts every week about the latest games and big talking points from across all three leagues so if you're a fan of an efl club or if you just want to keep up to date with what's going on in the football league search for essential efl and give us a follow

15:43this is the sky sports premier league podcast let's get more analysis of the game and return to the student. It finished 2-2 in the game we were watching at Turf Moor between Burnley and Manchester United. Benjamin Sesko scoring twice in the second half for Darren Fletcher's side. We can hear from him with Luke Shanley. Benjamin, what's your feeling after that tonight? First of all, it's hard for us. I think we were fighting, we were giving our best. we were trying to find the ways always to score. Fortunately, we consider a second goal like it was and we just have to keep going like that. From your own point of view tonight, getting a couple of goals, how good does that feel?

16:28Is there a sense of relief maybe personally? No, of course it's easier for me, but it's really important also for the team that I can help them that way. It's my job in the end of the day to try to help the team as much as possible. Yeah, I still get a draw with that and I think we have to keep moving from that. From your own point of view, was it a case of making sure you keep getting involved, trying to take the chances and not worrying about the ones you missed? Yes, of course. It's always important to try to come into the chances over and over again, try to bring the balls inside the box, because we were creating a lot of chances and that's the most important.

17:05We just have to keep pushing with those kind of situations. It's been a difficult last 48 hours for the club. What do the players need now to make it easier for you in terms of a manager coming in and knowing what's going to happen going forward? Of course, it's never easy when I lose a manager. But now it's up to us, obviously, to stand together as a group, to really show that we can work together no matter what situation. And in the end, it's just important for us to focus on the upcoming games, upcoming trainings, and that's the most important. Well done, Torek. You're the player of the match.

17:37Thank you so much. Well done to Benjamin Sesko. 2-2 it finished between Burnley and Manchester United. 4-3 it finished to Newcastle United over Leeds in our other 8-15 kickoff at St James's Park and we can show you what happened from the off. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Robin Chow and Brendan Aronson who had an eventful night striking the first. He's been a player in form Jamie, we spoke about him before the game. Yeah very much I like him, like the way he plays, he's got tremendous techniques, they kept themselves in it, lovely little touch there. Nice switch from Volta Marder and Harvey Barnes with the finish.

18:13Good finish and he's got that kind of quality Tim, you mentioned it before then obviously leads Dominic Calvert-Lewin. That was just before half-time Calvert-Lewin from the penalty spot to make it 2-1. Newcastle weren't happy about that but a really good response from them Tim. Great header, Joe Linton just gets across Rodon I think he was there and he just guides it into the corner, gives the goalkeeper absolutely no chance. 2-2 and the home fans were thinking they would be straightforward from that point onwards, but no. Aronson again. Visser giving the ball away. Grab with the ball through to Aronson, who decided to do it himself.

18:46Little step over. How often do we see that? Someone shoots, goes through the botman's legs. You think at this point, game over. 90 plus one minutes. Bruno Gimaraes. And Aronson had given away the penalty as well. It was heartbreaking from it. It was. His hand was probably inside. It was high and an unnatural position. And then Gimaraes as well, driving his team forward. Bottman has a great role in that team. Bottman does brilliantly. He just gets across the defender, just knows he's just going to lend it down to Harvey Barnes in the same position as where he scored his goal, but he just has to swivel on that one.

19:14It's a wonderful finish from him. With 102 minutes on the clock, Harvey Barnes with his second of the night. Delirium at St James' Park, and Harvey Barnes was giving his reaction afterwards to Johnny Phillips. Harvey, that was some game to watch. What was it like to play in? Yeah, it was weird. It was very up and down. I don't think we were by any means at our best, but then, you know, the way the game finishes and the feeling now, yeah, you don't really care about the performance that's more than the result. Over 100 minutes on the clock when you got the winner. Just tell us about it. I don't really remember it.

19:50Just swivel, I was saying to you before we walked in, swivel, hit and then hope and, yeah, celebrate. It's all a bit of a blur. You're wondering, you're a boxer. It's just instinct. Get whatever contact you can and there's that many bodies that anything can happen. It took the roof off the place. Are these the moments you live for? Oh, yeah. Everyone knows what the atmosphere is like up here, but when a last-minute winner goes in like that, it's special. It was such a frantic game. Did it feel like one that no team was in control of at any stage? A little bit, yeah. I think we probably both had spells in the game where we looked in control, but as a whole, it was quite an even affair.

20:24But I think you could see at the end, we were probably the ones pushing and the ones who looked like we were going to score. It's paid off, yeah. Three Premier League wins in a row now as well. What does this do for the team? Do you feel you're on a real upward trajectory? Yeah, it's what we needed. We knew, looking back a few games ago, we weren't where we wanted to be in the table. Performances weren't what we wanted to be and still probably need some work on that as well. But certainly, yeah, these last three results have been massive. Got us right back up there and pushing on now. And you're challenging on so many fronts as well in so many different competitions.

20:54Will this be just a thing the players need, you feel, to help push on? Yeah, no, it's a busy period, especially this month. There's a lot of games and we want to do as well as we can in every competition. You know, we're an ambitious club. and we want to do well and win trophies. So, you know, we're not going to take any of the competitions lightly. We want to push on, do well in all of them, and it's going to be tough. But, yeah, we're ready for it. Well done today. Thank you. Cheers. What a moment for him and for Newcastle. Nine for the season for Harvey Barnes, four in the Champions League.

21:21That's five now in the Premier League, but none got the roar that that one did in the 102nd minute. That's a great result for Newcastle, Jamie, and just keeps this run going. It's devastating equally for Leeds United. Yeah, it's important to keep that run going, as you say, especially at home, that connection there with the fans. We've played that very enough times. When they get going and they start to roar, they get behind them like that, becomes very difficult. Big result. And look where it can take you if you manage to string a few results together. That's three on the bounce. That's a bad run.

21:49It's crazy, Tim, isn't it? Look at Brentford. I mean, Newcastle, yeah, everyone was talking about how poor they are in the league. Like you say, string a few wins together, it pushes you right up the table. Confidence is flying high. I maintain they do not win that game without being at home. Not with that fan base, like the Sunderland fan base as well. Likewise, they drive you on. They drive you on right to the end of the game. What was it? 99 minutes or wherever it was? 102 minutes. The latest winning goal on record. Give the belief to all of them players that they could go on and actually win that game.

22:20Not satisfied, just free-free. Brilliant result for Eddie Howe and Newcastle United. Yeah, and equally crushing for Leeds United, who's unbeaten run has finally come to an end. Sunderland also came to an end at Brentford tonight. That and all the other stories, and there have been so many on an extraordinary night of Premier League football, will be coming your way the other side of this break. Do stay with us.

23:26It has been an incredible night in the Premier League with eight live games and all of them had something interesting to tell us tonight, not least at the Etihad where Manchester City have been on such an amazing run at home, had won eight on the bounce before dropping points at the weekend. And then it happened again tonight that despite them winning an early penalty against Brighton, an Erling Haaland who had been quiet for a couple of games was on the score sheet. But then this Tim from Mitoma. Yeah, he's got a superb array of goals, this guy, load of quality. Hasn't played very often this season either.

24:06but when he comes and he's asked upon there he just drifts onto his right foot and just slots it in the bottom corner gives Donnarumma absolutely zero chance to save that he's a good player that kid very very good they've got a good squad of players they can always upset teams as they've done there tonight what a great night for Mikel Arteta he'll be a sat home tonight preparing in his mind what I'm going to do tomorrow get three points work on the basis that both those sides Aston Villa obviously had a tougher game with Crystal Palace and then to have two draws and a lot of the players don't watch it I'm sure some do some don't they'll wake up tomorrow see the result do you believe they don't watch it I think some don't now oh man I was always glued to it me too I couldn't miss it but I think the more players I speak to now the more they say no do you know what I just want to concentrate on what I'm doing I can sit you don't think they'll cool said glued to it so it's a chance tomorrow night for Arsenal to go eight points clear now of Villa and Manchester City let's get the reaction of Pep Guardiola with Juliet Farrington defensively we know that you're stretched I just thought I wouldn't ask about Max alone, how you felt he came and did coming straight into the team tonight.

25:13No, the problem is not defensively. The problem is not to have more absence, but the problem is not defensively. So we don't score goals, but the chances were created. That's so clear, and it happened in the last three games. Is it about remaining calm then, in doing what you're trying to do? I'm not going to change. I'm too old. Not you, but your players. No, the players do perfectly I love the way we play I love it So we play top Defensively, offensively top But we don't score I know when I spoke to you in the summer And you said come March or April If you're still in the mix Because people will look at the table Supporters will look at the table And ask whether you're still in it As far as you're concerned Are you remaining calm in that situation and very much believe that you can do something in this competition this season.

26:06We have three games. We didn't win the games. Of course, it's more difficult, but we are going to continue. So it's a long, long, long time and continue and try to, you know, to play better and better. So three successive draws now for Manchester City, who are five points behind Arsenal. Locked on 43 with Aston Villa and both have played a game more. than the league leaders who host Liverpool tomorrow. Chance for them to go eight points clear. Liverpool in fourth right now. And you can never rule the champions out. Seven o 'clock we're on air for that tomorrow night. Arsenal taking on Liverpool.

26:49Some game between Bournemouth and Spurs. One of those that got underway at 7.30 as well. And it was a really lively start from Spurs out of the blocks very quickly, Jamie. Yep, tell. We're good. Well, the keeper should do better. Had a couple of great saves, in fairness, to the goalkeeper towards the end of the game. And Tottenham at that time, they were going well. Then Bournemouth got himself back into it. Kruppi's a really good finisher. I really like him. That was even Ilsen, the one before. But then Kruppi gets one. It was end-to-end. They had everything in it. This is the one I'm talking about with Kruppi.

27:21Scored one the weekend. He's just got great reactions, Tim, hasn't he? He's done brilliant. Saw his feet out there and just turned it towards the goal. He ends up in the top corner. He deserved that. And Tottenham come again. How about this for a goal? Polina. What athleticism this is. There you go. That's one of the goals of the night. Fantastic. Fantastic. He scored some big goals this season. You know, he loves to celebrate. I love that passion he shows there. And then it was all about, this is the fairy tale, really. And the fairy tale ending probably. Semenya there picks the ball up. He used to have no right to score from there.

27:49I'm not sure what Vicario's doing. He's not happy with his defenders. You couldn't script it, could you? Here's Andoni Iraiola with Emma Saunders. Can we confirm now that that is the end of him in a Bournemouth shirt? It looks like, yes, yes. Obviously you have to do the medical, these stuff and the formalities, but I'm afraid to say because I don't want to lose him, but I think it's going to be his last moments.

28:20You couldn't script it, could you, what the final twist is, as he will say goodbye to such a special player, Jamie. Special player, special human being as well. I think for him, for a lot of players now, there's no way they'd have played tonight. If they knew they had a big move on the cards in the next couple of days, they'd have said, no, do you know what? I'm not quite right. Maybe it's mentally, physically. I don't want to get injured. It tells you everything about him and that's why he's worth the big money. Absolutely amazing. Great human being, top player. I'm delighted for him. Where he goes next, I'm not sure.

28:54I've heard a couple. Not Man City? Everyone thinks it's a foregone conclusion. I'm not so sure. I've heard it might be a little bit of a twist still. I think Liverpool could still be in the equation. I think that would be... I've got to be honest, I think if they did come in... Why they haven't perhaps come in as strongly is I'm surprised because if you look at that position with Mohamed Salah, what happens for him and how long he's going to be at the club for, we don't quite know. But if you've got a player of that quality and he shows you he's a match winner, he turns up in the big moments, why wouldn't you be in for him?

29:26so I'm not saying it's a Sky Sports breaking news moment but all I'm saying is I've heard tonight that there might it might not be the foregone conclusion everyone's talking about he's going to be having a having a medical man sit there might still be a little twist interesting I hope so watch this space or watch it on Sky Sports News there'll be more fallout I'm guessing to this as well tomorrow because not for the first time players have got entangled with fans at Bournemouth and this time it was Mickey van der Ven and other Spurs players who didn't like something that was said by the fans or likewise.

29:59This is what Thomas Frank had to say about it afterwards with Emma Saunders. Are you pleased with the strength and mentality of players throughout the game tonight? I think it's fair to say that there's been ups and downs. I think the last four performances, including the Liverpool game, has been strong and competitive. I think today we added another layer offensively. I think coming down 2-1 and you want some wins and then when we respond to second half, you got a penalty, you got overturned it, how they stayed in the game, staying cool, great character, sticking to the game plan, which you haven't done all the time for the season.

30:37I think it's your great mental strength. And then we need to understand that football sometimes is margins, which is just unbelievable, unbelievable painful. You are always so determined, pragmatic, logical in your approach. When it is cruel like this football, how much do you feel that being tested? I definitely feel being tested today no doubt about that the boys put so much hard work into we put so much hard work and we put a performance in that's more than good enough to at least get something out of it I also think we should be very close to maybe could, should have won it I suppose whilst you remain defiant, determined how understanding and accepting are you of what is an emotional fan base at the moment?

31:22I think the travelling fans were amazing today. I think they supported us throughout the game. It was very, very good. I have a course of understanding. The players are frustrated. I'm frustrated. We're all hurt. The fans are hurt. That's absolutely natural. That's why we're in football. It's emotion. So it's just very painful for everyone involved in Tottenham today. It never looks good, though, does it, Tim, when players are getting involved with fans at the end of a game? No, it's a tough time for the players there at Tottenham. Certainly a tough time for Thomas Frank and the fans are feeling it too.

31:59The emotions are running high. You know, you expect frustration from fans when they're not winning football matches and they're not being entertained either. So I worry for Thomas Frank, I really do. I hope he doesn't lose his job, but I think we've seen Chelsea pull the trigger. We've seen Man United do it. I hope Tottenham don't do it, but I just, I wouldn't hold my breath here to say he's not going to get sacked. It's a poor run of results that they are on, just two wins in 12. And if you think back to the start of the sequence, they're actually up in third place. They've had a decent run, particularly away from home, where they were picking up points quite freely.

32:30But they just haven't been able to crack it, have they, in front of their own fans. And what is it now? One win in six. Jamie, it's not just that. I suppose, as Tim says, it's the entertainment factor as well. What does he need to do to make sure that he is the guy that is able to stay there and turn this team, this club around? Yeah, well, you showed an incredible graphic at the right at the start of the show, David. I think it was Ed not scored an open goal in six games, was it? Yeah, they did manage to score one tonight. They did tonight. Yeah, it was a slightly lucky one. But I think where I've been surprised with Thomas Frank, I watched a lot of them at Brentford and I thought really good manager.

33:05I always thought they were expansive. You know, they had obviously, you know, Ivan Toni or Bermow, Visser, Sharder. Really thought they were an exciting side to watch. and what he's really shown, what he has to now tell everybody and show everybody that he's not just a set-piece coach because that's what he looks like right now. Unless they get a corner, a free kick, you don't feel Tottenham are going to score a goal. Good managers, they know how to open teams up from open play. Thomas Frank is not showing he's got that capability right now and that's what Tottenham fans demand. They want to see it.

33:35So for that reason, he's under the pressure that Tim says and that's what he's got to turn around very, very quickly. Well, there was a set-piece coach at Brentford who is now in charge and that is Keith Andrews and his team are showing all sorts of ways to open other sides up like this. Brilliant. Tonight against Sunderland. Rijanot's been in great form. Charlie Rijanot with that lovely football, Thiago with his 15th of the season and Brentford had much the better of the first half and then the start of the second half, Sunderland improved, Brian Brobby brought down by Christophe Ayer and here was Enzo Lafay to equalise.

34:11Doesn't get better, does it? Every time we look at it. No, no, he's been in really good form as well. And then this is unbelievable. These two headers. Watch the athleticism of Shardell. He's on the floor there. He gets up, neck muscles, incredible. Back to Thiago. He turns his head into that one. And those two are such a handful at the moment. 16th for the season now. He's flying. And then another set-piece goal. And there's Yarmouk with his first for the club as well. Let's get some reaction we can hear from Igor Thiago and Keith Andrews with Jonathan Oakes. Igor, three goals on Sunday, two tonight.

34:48You're having a good time at the moment, aren't you? Thank you, God. This is because of God about hard training sessions with this guy, you know, top guy. And then the teammates, the victories for them, you know. Two more goals for Igor Thiago after three at the weekend. and it's very much changed for him in the last couple of games, because you were happy with his contribution when he wasn't scoring, weren't you? Yeah, I was, yeah, and I think that's the nature of any player, as long as your performance levels are of a certain level, and here's where. I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, played Bournemouth, he didn't score, and he was sensational.

35:25Goals are always something that you get judged by for a striker, and I think it's fair to say on that front, he's having a pretty special season as well. You've scored 16 Premier League goals now, 17 overall. Did you have a target in mind at the start of the season? How many you thought you might score? I was just thinking about play and then have a good moment here. So I wasn't expecting to score that much. But yeah, I will just keep going, you know. Well, there you go. Keith Andrews, who's making gilets on the touchline look fashionable. He's fuming now, by the way. As I saw the gilet there, I thought my phone was buzzing.

36:04is my lawyer. We've got another one, Tim. We've got another one. He can do no wrong right now, Keith Andrews, though. He's a fifth in the league. He's done a great job. He really, really has. He said with Thiago, he was pleased with him. You know when someone is not scoring goals, you're there to score goals, but you just stick. You've got a manager who just sticks with you. Push his arm around you and say, you're my man. It will come. And that's what's happened. He's had a brilliant, brilliant performance from him at the moment. I mean, he can't stop scoring the kid. I think as well, what I've heard around the dressing room and around the club.

36:34He's fantastic as well, Thiago. Infectious character. Good human. He's obviously been injured. It's been tough for him. And he's come back this year and he's flying. He's absolutely unplayable. And the array of goals, like a couple of them like dinking keepers and he's dragging it and going around them. Good headers. Yeah, he's flying right now. And I think for Keith, the job, I think at the start of the year, when he sat down with the ownership, got the job, I can only imagine the brief was just keep us up. Keep us up. If he can do that, we'll be happy. We've lost our star players. Just do what you can.

37:04But right now, they should be thinking, well, what is possible? And he's rotating it as well, Jay. He's keeping the squad happy. Everyone's got the in and out. Unbelievable. Yeah, very, very impressive job that Keith Andrews is doing right now at Brentford. Congratulations to them on a huge win tonight. Makes it even worse for Thomas Frank, though, doesn't it? Well, quite. And for Fulham as well, a great victory. They've had a really good run. This was an interesting incident. Kukurea sent off early in the game. I'm not sure what he's complaining about. The question is whether he's in the penalty area or not, Harry Wilson.

37:36It does definitely carry on into the box from what I can see, but obviously is it double? Marco Silva was booked for complaining because it wasn't given as a penalty, but Raul Jimenez did put them in front against the 10. But Chelsea found a way back into the game. Nice finish from Liam De Lappe. He acts well, doesn't he, De Lappe there? and there was to be a twist. Always Harry Wilson. He's having such an amazing season, isn't he? He played the one to start there and then he gets onto that one. Deft touch of his left foot. This is his first goal with his right foot, David. First Premier League goal with his right foot.

38:12What form he's in. Unbelievable. He's learnt a lot from William, you know, how to play your best football when you're out of contract.

38:21The cynic. Liam Rossini, of course, was there tonight, but he was watching from the stands trying to keep warm like everybody else at Craven Cottage, posing for the odd selfie as well. What do you think he would have made of that watching on, Tim? Well, he's learning all the time. It's the first time he would have seen the team live. He's going to learn more in the training sessions as well. He's got a very talented group of players. He just has to put the jigsaw together. You know, it's hard. You know, he's never had a squad with such depth in all of his career. So he's going to have to learn how to keep people happy who are not playing and finding the right solutions going forward and defending.

38:58So he's an astute manager. I'm pleased he's got the opportunity to prove himself at one of the biggest clubs in England. He goes flying into it. He's got Charlton, no Cucurella the weekend in the FA Cup and then it's Carabao Cup. Would that be one, the Charlton game, do you think? I mean, is the FA Cup something that would be high on their priority list? It's got to be for him. I think it has to be. If he goes and wins an FA Cup this season, unbelievable. It would absolutely take that right now. and then getting the top four winning the FA Cup I'm sure every fan would be delighted with that they've got a lot of games you mentioned we interviewed him earlier on Dave and he came across fantastic and you can see here how fast and furious these games are going to come for him he didn't seem to be sort of intimidated or overall by the fact they got so many games so quickly not at all I mean he wants to get into it he wants to get his teeth into it I think he's relishing the challenge I think he's a good coach I think he realises that he's there to not only win football matches but to develop the young players what he's got at his disposal.

39:54That's what he's done at Strasbourg and I think he'll continue doing that at Chelsea. I wish him luck. I hope he does well for all the English managers' sake. First game as a manager tonight for Darren Fletcher, who's the, well, interim head coach of Manchester United and they managed a two-all draw away at Burnley and he gave his reaction to Luke Shanley. My personal point of view in terms of Benjamin Sesko, how much did he need that tonight? He needed it massively and obviously I'd spoke to him before the game and tried to reiterate what a good player he is and how much I'd watched him over the years.

40:27We got the service into the box for him. He made great movement, great runs, and he took his two goals fantastically. They were well-taken goals, both of them. How were you feeling after this, after having the experience of that 95 minutes? It's an amazing experience. I'm disappointed we didn't win the game, so I can't hide that. But in terms of the experience of leading the team out, preparing the team, the fans, the support, everything like that, it's a pleasure, it was an honour. but I can't help but stand here and think that we didn't win the game so that's my overriding disappointment. You said you wanted to get this one out of the way then things will happen after that.

40:59In terms of where you stand just now will you be in charge for another game or what have you been told? Yeah, I've spoke to the board and I'll be in charge for the Brighton game and then we'll take it from there again. It's one game at a time so yeah, recover from this game and then we prepare for Brighton and the FA Cup on Sunday. Some of your former teammates have been linked with coming back. Are you wanting to be involved long term with the first team? what is your own feeling after having a taste of it tonight? I've been around it for a long time before so I've been around the first team for years before that I'm only focusing on the next game and the job in hand there's a lot to do and it's a big responsibility so my full focus just now is on the short term and that's the game against Brighton.

41:37Just finally, from a player's point of view do they need some certainty and clarity now as well as soon as they can? Always, yeah, you want clarity and certainty as quickly as possible but I think the time frame's been quite fair we kind of expected it would probably be two games and then we'll take it from there. So the players are great though. I know the players, I've known them for a long time and they're more than on board with me being in charge and helping them and trying to push us forward this season. But as always, you want things to be cleared up as quickly as possible. That's life and every player wants that.

42:07Darren, I appreciate your time. Thank you. Cheers. So Darren Fletcher confirming that he will be in charge of the FA Cup game as well this weekend. Are there grounds for optimism, do you think, from what we saw from Manchester United? Not in terms of the result, but in terms of the performance. Yeah, it was OK. I thought they had moments and they went 2-1 up. I thought they were going to cruise and win the game comfortably. They obviously didn't do that. For Darren, I like Darren Fletcher. He's a proper football man. He's had a fantastic career as a player. I don't know whether he wants a job.

42:36I can't speak for him. Obviously, there's been other candidates, Michael Carrick. Why would he not want the job? Because he might not think he's ready. He might not think he's got the credentials to do it. Because the reason why they've been one of the biggest or most successful clubs for many years when they were, was because they had the best in class. They had the best manager, Alex Ferguson, obviously probably wasn't the... When they got it from Aberdeen, no one quite knew how well it was going to go, but it did. Then they'd always sign the best players to help the manager. But right now, they haven't married the two together.

43:05They've sometimes tried to get best in class in managers, but they haven't got the best players. Now they have to make sure they do both. and I don't think that, no disrespect to the guys that again mentioned, you know, Oli, Michael or Darren. But this is the talk about the interim, isn't it, Jamie? Oh, for the interim. Yeah, I've got no problem with that. Try and find the best in class in the summer. But if it is to be Oli Gunnar Solskjaer, why not Darren Fletcher? Yeah, my point earlier is it's not going to change a lot in the summer. If the managers are there, you've got to have an idea of who you want.

43:30You know, say if you think Mareska's around now, then try and get Mareska. If you think that's the one, if you think, I personally, I mentioned before, Andoni, Areola at Bournemouth, I'll be getting him. The way that his teams have played over the last couple of years are absolutely incredible. If you look at other managers that are possible, if they're available now, just get them. Why wait till the summer? The summer doesn't change anything. You're still going to have the same problems. You want to start talking to players to get them in. Who are you going to sign next year? They'll want to know who the manager is coming in.

43:59The quicker you do it, the better. The noise is RJ that they just want someone until the summer. So he's got nothing to lose by doing it himself. Nothing to lose whatsoever. He can go back to his old job and he can do that. And why won't he do as good a job as Michael Carrick or Ole Gunnar Solskjaer? You know, it's a risk whoever they bring in. They can bring an established manager in. They can bring a trophy manager in. There's no guarantees. We've seen that with other managers who have come, superstar managers, supposedly. And they come into the manager and they don't do it. They don't do it.

44:26So there's no guarantees. Michael did a really good job at Middlesbrough. Really good. Very unlucky. And I think he could go in there and do a job. I don't understand the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer one. I just don't. I know he was there before, interim, then he became the manager. I saw his face at the end of it. He looked like a beaten man. And now it looks like they're going to get him back again. That just makes no sense to me. Other players, other managers, if it is Darren or if it's Michael Carrick, then it's the end of the season, that's fine. The Ole Gunnar Solskjaer one I struggle with a bit.

44:54All right, Jamie, thank you very much. Tim, thank you for your company as well.
