In short

NSYNC’s Lance Bass and Joey Fatone share food memories from childhood and life on tour, then trade hot-take opinions on hot dogs, condiments, and Halloween snacks; they also discuss their Cocktail Wars drinks and favorite cocktails.

Guest backgrounds

Lance Bass (Mississippi upbringing near New Orleans; Southern comfort foods like grits, biscuits, French toast; later on tour at ~16–18). Joey Fatone (Brooklyn, Coney Island/Nathan’s hot dog upbringing; “hot dog connoisseur”; ketchup-forward).

Key claims

They ate constant junk on tour (including Olive Garden “Tour of Italy” ~5,000 calories nightly) and never gained weight. Lance insists on yellow mustard; Joey sticks to ketchup. Lance says “Crystal” hot sauce is vinegary and loves it on fried catfish and collard greens. Joey mixes peanut butter/banana (and sometimes jelly) into toast, referencing “Goober.”

Notable examples

Nathan’s hot dogs and crinkle fries; “Zingers” chicken fingers; Philly cheesesteak debates; Cheetos “Flavor of Fear” (cinnamon + heat) and Buffalo Wild Wings Pop Rocks ranch; “It’s Gonna Be Me” snack game (cold pizza, kids menu sampling, fries in Frosty).

0:00Joey Fatone:Hey, it's Ryan Reynolds here from Mint Mobile. Now, I was looking for fun ways to tell you that Mint's offer of unlimited premium wireless for$15 a month is back. So I thought it would be fun if we made$15 bills, but it turns out that's very illegal. So there goes my big idea for the commercial. Give it a try at mintmobile.com slash switch.

0:21Lance Bass:Upfront payment of$45 for three months,$90 for six months, or$180 for 12 month plan required. $15 per month equivalent. Taxes and fees extra. Initial plan term only. Greater than 50 gigabytes may slow when network is busy.

0:29Joey Fatone:See terms. We ate everything. Tour of Italy from Olive Garden was on our bus almost every night. And we ate all 5 ,000 calories of it and never gained a pound.

0:39Lance Bass:Hi, I'm Joe Salts, the editorial director of Delish, and welcome to Snacks, the show where we talk to your favorite stars about their craziest food obsessions. Today, we've got two superstars in town. You'll remember them from NSYNC, but now you can see them on the new show, Cocktail Wars. Please welcome Lance Bass and Joey Fatone. And we'll be right back.

1:03Joey Fatone:Hey, it's Ryan Reynolds here from Mint Mobile. Now, I was looking for fun ways to tell you that Mint's offer of unlimited premium wireless for$15 a month is back. So I thought it would be fun if we made$15 bills. But it turns out that's very illegal. So there goes my big idea for the commercial. Give it a try at mintmobile.com slash switch.

1:25Lance Bass:Upfront payment of$45 for three months, $90 for six months, or$180 for 12 months plan required. $15 per month equivalent. Taxes and fees extra. Initial plan term only greater than 50 gigabytes may slow when network is busy. See terms. Wait, were you actually called snacks?

1:39Joey Fatone:No, with that one, because it was my last name. Stop. No, it's my last name, Fatone. I was very skinny, so it wasn't like a negative thing. It wasn't a nasty thing. It was P-H-A-T-O-N-E. But they literally spelled my last name as Fatone, F-A-T-O-N-E. And I actually have a hot dog place called Fat Ones. That's opening up Universal City Walk. Okay, so we have to talk about this. September, not August. Hot dogs.

1:58Lance Bass:I do have those notes that you're a really big hot dog fan. How? How did this happen?

2:02Joey Fatone:New York. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. And then you go to Coney Island, went to get Nathan's Hot Dogs on the boardwalk right there in Coney Island.

2:08Lance Bass:What is the absolute hands down best store bought hot dog? Like what's the hot dog you buy in the store?

2:14Joey Fatone:I think Nathan's has it because it's got that little snap to it. Stop. Nathan's is so greasy. Stop it. There's way better hot dogs. What? Tell us what. Go for a sausage dog first. Sausage dog. Where did you grow up? A chicken apple sausage. That is not a hot dog.

2:28Lance Bass:It is a hot dog.

2:29Joey Fatone:That's a sausage.

2:31Lance Bass:That's a sausage.

2:32Joey Fatone:What sausage dog? Put it in a bag. I don't say Italian hot dog. Why not? Because it's a sausage. It's Italian sausage.

2:39Lance Bass:That would be like being like, I'm going to have a breakfast sausage patty. And you were like, no, actually, I'm going to have a breakfast sausage patty. It's called the turkey burger. Like, that's not the same thing. Exactly. Thank you.

2:51Joey Fatone:You make them the same way. You just put little, you know, blend up a whole pig and just put it into a little thing and just. And there you go. It's a hot dog. I got to call you on this one. Sausage hot dog. For once, I'm right.

3:04Lance Bass:This is insane. This is good. And it's dewy. This is insane. Where did you grow up?

3:07Joey Fatone:Mississippi, outside of New Orleans. That's why.

3:10Lance Bass:So this is why it's your hot dog. This is why you didn't really learn what a good hot dog is. It's a hot dog. It's okay. It's okay. And do we?

3:16Joey Fatone:It just sweats. It's okay. It's just greasy. I still love you. It's so good.

3:20Lance Bass:What do you put on your hot dog? What's the appropriate topping for a hot dog?

3:23Joey Fatone:For me, since a kid, I'm playing Jane. I like ketchup, and that's it. Now, if I'm going different, and I want to really go and venture off stuff for stuff that I'm doing now, I butterfly it, actually. Put it on the grill, flatten it, and then sometimes I'm done a thing called a mac daddy. I'll put mac and cheese in it. Or I've done a Reuben, where you actually make all the dressings for a Reuben, but you use the hot dog as the meat. Same thing as for a Cuban. Done that as well. You do the mustard, the pickle. So, yeah, I've combined a lot of different, and tried and sampled all different types of hot dogs for fat ones.

3:52Joey Fatone:So, yeah, I'm a weird hot dog connoisseur now.

3:54Lance Bass:Lance, do you mind sitting this interview out? We're just going to check. It's going to be 45 minutes of hot dogs.

3:58Joey Fatone:I think you're going to hate me because I'm going to say I don't like. Like hot dogs, do you? Because in New York, because I'm from Mississippi. Dirty water dog. I like mustard on my hot dog, right? I'll do ketchup, but like, give me some mustard and sauteed, caramelized onion. I like yellow mustard, not spicy mustard. I get that. That's got to be the bright yellow, right? In New York, as you go to a hot dog stand, I'm like, yeah, I want some mustard, and it's all spicy mustard. I'm like, no, no, no, I want the mustard. Just say yellow. I do say yellow mustard. I'm like, yeah, it's yellow mustard.

4:24Joey Fatone:I don't know where you went to then. They don't have French's yellow.

4:28Lance Bass:Neither one of you has said my favorite topping, which is sauerkraut.

4:31Joey Fatone:Sourkraut's good. I am like a real Eastern European.

4:34Lance Bass:and those were my roots. So like kielbasa, sauerkraut. Nothing wrong with that? So I love...

4:38Joey Fatone:I'm a Green Bay Packer fan. I think I would like sauerkraut, but I just have not gotten into it.

4:42Lance Bass:I just did. I love that we just jumped right into this, by the way. Like literally feet first into hot dog water. I'm all in on it. But I do have to say one final note about Nathan's because I feel like people forget Nathan's fries and I think they might be the greatest fries.

4:57Joey Fatone:Crinkle fries?

4:58Lance Bass:The best fries. With the little fork? Too much potato.

5:01Joey Fatone:Yeah, the little devil fork is what I used to call it.

5:03Lance Bass:so the devil's fork the devil's fork I just we miss you miss you like out being out in the world all right I need to we need to go back in time a little bit because I need to like start from the beginning first of all well in my mother's eye I was a twinkle wait so what were you guys like his kid food

5:26Joey Fatone:eaters as kids rambunctious I ate junk food all the time I mean obviously we try to do the healthy thing or our parents tried to kind of somewhat healthy but back in that day we really wasn't healthy no there was no health you had the tv dinners i mean we're going we're going back if we're talking about tv dinners what was healthy snack wells like what was healthy back then like lean cuisines yeah exactly basically is what they thought it was healthy but you know not not being from a you know living in a middle class family sometimes we had like the goulash with the rice and the beef and the gravy and sometimes peppers if we had more money but But yeah, it was just simple stuff, just simplistic things.

5:59Lance Bass:But were you like, did you have a lot of junk food in your house?

6:02Joey Fatone:Oh, yeah. Yeah, of course.

6:03Lance Bass:What was like the coolest junk food you had?

Read the full transcript

6:06Joey Fatone:Oh, my gosh. Twinkies, devil dogs, you name it. I mean, we had it. I don't know why. I think it was my parents were just, they were kids at heart as well, I believe. They kind of were. My parents would never shy away from snacks, let's just say that.

6:18Lance Bass:I just, I mean, that's the way to be raised. Lance, what about you? What was it like?

6:22Joey Fatone:Growing up, you know, I grew up in the South, so, you know, it was all, to me, I could eat breakfast for every meal right what's your go-to breakfast okay so I mean grits eggs oh yeah homemade so basically my favorite if you see my French toast is what I grew up on like French toast and my son only French toast French toast is what you grew up oh yeah that's the only thing I would kind of eat really I

6:46Lance Bass:couldn't imagine yeah being made in my house oh my god my granny I would love

6:50Joey Fatone:to my granic she would always make me French toast in my fair just with powdered sugar no syrup it's powdered sugar but my ultimate is you know homemade buttermilk biscuits uh grits bacon eggs cheese you mix it up like a casserole put it in the biscuit

7:07Lance Bass:oh my god yes jump in that's sarita by the way she's our amazing

7:12Joey Fatone:sugar or salt with the grit are you a salt sugar sugar or salt with grits i'm a salty grit person I can't do the sugary. I'd be more of a sugar person. But you have to, you know, and you know a good place. Like if you go to a restaurant, you know it's good if they can do good grits and collard greens. If they can do good collard greens and grits, you're like, yeah, this is my place.

7:31Lance Bass:Did your family still live in Mississippi? Oh, yeah. Oh, so you get to get back there. Oh, yes. I feel like that is the cultural food, like, sort of center of America in so many ways.

7:43Joey Fatone:We get amazing barbecue, you know, but like from Tennessee and everything. And then you got New Orleans with the Cajun and the soul food. And then Texas.

7:50Lance Bass:I feel like everything's sort of like, yes.

7:53Joey Fatone:Sushi's blown up in Mississippi. What? I know. But yeah, sushi has blown up. You're like, they just got sushi. It's like fried chicken in it, but it's still sushi. You know what? That might be a thing. I can see that. My mom's like, I need sushi, but it has to be cooked. I'm like, well, mom. You're like, that's called a hot dog. You're like, that's called a sausage. That's a sausage dog.

8:16Lance Bass:You're like, that's not sushi. All right. So then you guys, you guys kind of get big young. How old were you? How old were you when you were in St. Louis?

8:24Joey Fatone:I was pretty around 17, 18. I met you when you were 17. I was 16. Okay.

8:29Lance Bass:So you're on the road. Okay. Okay. So I don't like care about, I, you know, I love the music. I love all of it. Whatever. I want to know like what you guys were eating. What was it like? What was it like eating on the road?

8:39Joey Fatone:We had the rider. So of course.

8:40Lance Bass:What was on the rider? What was on Instinct rider?

8:43Joey Fatone:It was so much junk food. It's not even funny. No, tell me. I remember it was trays of grilled cheese. There was a tray of mac and cheese. We would have for some reason, because the boxes are shredded, we eat for some stupid reason. Boxes have shredded meat. I don't know why, but we always yelled at him. He needed a lot of fiber. Things that were on the rider. I love it. What else did we have? Well, mine, because I always had. You had the bananas and the peanut butter. Ten minutes before a show, I always craved the same thing. It was a peanut butter and banana sandwich, but it had to be a particular way, because Elvis Presley loved his peanut butter and banana sandwiches.

9:13Joey Fatone:Yes, yes. So it has to be peanut butter banana, but you have to smash it together mix it up because it tastes different It does the same thing with peanut butter jelly by the way Peanut butter banana honey drizzle and then you toast it boom

9:26Lance Bass:Okay, wait wait wait wait wait I need all of the details on this, but I need to rewind back. Sorry. Are you saying that your peanut butter and jelly sandwich is mixed? Mixed.

9:37Joey Fatone:He really takes it in a styrofoam cup when I first saw him do it. Can't do styrofoam cups anymore. But he literally mixed it all, mashed it completely all together. The bananas, the jelly, right? Either peanut butter and jelly or peanut butter and banana. Yeah, that's what it was. And you mix it up and then you put it on the toast, but it has to be toasted. It tastes different? I don't know.

9:55Lance Bass:What tastes different?

9:56Joey Fatone:I don't know. It just tastes different when you put it all together. They tried doing it back in the day, I think in the 80s and 90s. It's called Goober. Oh, the Goober. You know, and it was like straight. The stripes in the thing, yes. So you got to, and plus, it was just horrible peanut butter. Horrible. But you have to mix it a little more than that, yeah. Okay, wait, okay.

10:13Lance Bass:So I feel like we're going to probably come back to that. Yeah. But I need to come back to that. I'm teaching you so much today. My mind, I don't even think I could have processed what this interview was going to be. All right, I need to come back to the writer. So, okay, so mac and cheese.

10:27Joey Fatone:Chicken fingers. What else was there? But sometimes, depending on the place, they actually would do catering for us. I remember there was one time where you get, like, really, like, one time it was, like, I think it was one venue that had like this whole lavish thing was the one venue. What kind of drinks?

10:40Lance Bass:What did you guys have? Like sodas? Dr. Pepper, Gatorade.

10:45Joey Fatone:I remember we'd always get like... IBC root beer for some reason, somebody. I remember that. I remember we'd always be at Orlando area and they'd always give us the Zingers. At Ale House. There's a place called Ale House. They have the best chicken fingers. They call them Zingers. zingers every flavor known to man there's one called mountst helens which will no tear the skin off of your face uh we gave it to rosie o'donnell one time when we did her show in lando and she had to cut to commercial because she was about to die stop seriously oh my gosh but that must have been kind of the best well it's really crazy because like you know as we traveled we went everywhere we would go or find places like in chicago we go get chicago deep dish if we were in Philly we're like Lily pulled the bus right she knows her patch yes her bad we would literally figure out what every way we're in that city she knows her pets depending though meaning like we would go to Gino's one year and we go to around we go to Pat's we never chose if I'm not mistaken

11:41Lance Bass:Luke's actually I feel like I'm throwing it out to my producer here Philly I actually feel like Gino's or Pat's is not the argument it's actually some Another

11:55Joey Fatone:Isn't there a place called Luke's or something like that? It's alright. I just thought it was pretty Max I'm mad that Max never well because it was always you know, it was across the street So we always pull up the buses and do that, but we know But I think obviously those drove alone or the whiz oh, whiz without whiz provolone That's a true. That's a true That's a whiz person I might be a south bank

12:17Lance Bass:I was also just I feel like it melts better and it does whatever Not to not to name drop but like boys to men was once we once interviewed them and they their whole thing was like chicken cheesesteaks Actually like real purist philadelphia is like really

12:34Joey Fatone:I'm a chicken cheesesteak person either

12:36Lance Bass:Well you also think like a sauce like a chicken sausage is a hot dog I don't know Lance We're still debating

12:42Joey Fatone:Some of us don't have great taste and I get that I understand. When Fat One opens up, we'll figure out a chicken sausage hot dog. I can't wait for Fat One's to open. Chicken and apple sausage. It's a chicken and apple sausage. Chicken and apple sausage. Hot dog slash sausage, sure. Lance, you're going to have to sit in the corner and face that way. We'll do a breakfast hot dog. You can't talk anymore.

13:02Lance Bass:You can't talk anymore in this conversation.

13:04Joey Fatone:By the way, Jersey Mike's chicken Philly cheesesteak is incredible. That's like an oxymoron.

13:11Lance Bass:I can take a lot of things. I don't know if I can take high praise for the Jersey Mike's chicken cheesesteak. Lance, you're on the nice. We really loved having you.

13:22Joey Fatone:I'm so glad that his alcohol is more sophisticated than his mouth.

13:26Lance Bass:Okay, I want to get to that, but I have a couple more instinct questions. I'm really sorry. Who actually did have the craziest food habits on the tours? Come on. Who was the craziest? Nobody had anything really bad.

13:39Joey Fatone:Nothing crazy. Egg whites and turkey bacon. Well, we didn't even have time to eat. Really, the only time we had to eat was like snacks in the dressing room or it was on the bus after a show. And the most amazing thing was is we were so young and we were burning calories every day. So we were able to honestly, I would drop 10 pounds and everything. We ate everything. Tour of Italy from Olive Garden was on the bus almost every night. And we ate all 5 ,000 calories of it and never gained a pound. Seriously, a full tour of Italy. It's amazing. Oh, yeah. Bread sticks too with Alfredo sauce. Oh, yeah.

14:10Joey Fatone:The whole thing.

14:10Lance Bass:By the way, I love an Olive Garden tour of Italy. Are you kidding me? And that dressing? Back in the day? Oh, my God. And I'm not to brag, but I am a...

14:20Joey Fatone:It's such a weird thing in Italian saying I like Olive Garden. I'm a never-ending pasta holder as of last week. So, I don't know. Kind of royalty at Olive Garden. Sure.

14:31Lance Bass:Honestly, that's a big deal. That is a big deal. Wait, but you consider Olive Garden Italian food?

14:37Joey Fatone:It's a different experience, as I like to call it. I don't mind it. It's just not... I don't know. I just can't... Well, you come from like Sunday sauce, right? But that's my point. You know, again, when you're born with something and that taste palette's there the whole time, that's like going and having someone who's Mexican making Mexican food at the house and then going to a Mexican restaurant. Same difference. It's like, come on. It's not...

14:58Lance Bass:You have to appreciate it for what it is. Yeah, I appreciate it 100%.

15:00Joey Fatone:That's why I like the tour of Italy.

15:01Lance Bass:I mean, the tour of Italy, it hits. It hits. It still hits. Honestly, I see sometimes the commercial and I'm like...

15:08Joey Fatone:They keep bringing it back, right? They bring it back. Oh yeah, they bring it back. Or you say it's like on the minute, it's not unlimited, but you can do it. You know you had to get the unlimited salad, but now the salad comes this much. They just spend like a little bit of it. You know what I hate? The one thing, if there's like three people that just give you three black olives. Oh, is that right? What is that?

15:22Lance Bass:Okay, wait.

15:23Joey Fatone:They used to, I don't know if they still do it, but literally if you go, they literally was the amount of people and I'm always like, I want extra olives.

15:28Lance Bass:But see, this is my issue with it. I have an issue with the unlimited salad bar, or the unlimited salad bowl, which is you can ask for free refills or whatever of that bowl, but every time they bring it back, it gets sadder and sadder and sadder, and less and more wilted. It's like they're trying to wean you off, but I'm like, no, no.

15:48Joey Fatone:To try to let you know you need to stop. Yes.

15:49Lance Bass:I have the same problem with, you know where else does this? What's that? It's Red Robin. I love an unlimited fry, but every time the bucket comes back.

15:58Joey Fatone:There's fries that are so good, and Red Robin has the best honey mustard.

16:01Lance Bass:Oh, all right. Guys, I appreciate your very wide array.

16:05Joey Fatone:Yeah, and your condiments is amazing. and you know a lot about your condiments. What's the other one you were telling me, the hot sauce, the vinegar? Well, Crystal Hot Sauce. Crystal Hot Sauce. What the hell is that? I'm gonna call you condiment king. It's very, it's more vinegary than the other. I like a Cholula and a Crystal Hot Sauce.

16:19Lance Bass:Wait, what is Crystal Hot Sauce?

16:21Joey Fatone:Crystal, I think it's out of New Orleans. It's just a little more vinegary tasting. What do you put it on? I put it on everything. Oh my God, fried catfish is like probably the best. You can put it on collard greens, of course, put it on collard greens. Then you put your cornbread, but it can't be the yellow sweet cornbread. It's gotta be buttermilk. Gotcha. White cornbread with the crispy skillet, crispy topping, brown top. Yeah. It's very specific.

16:43Lance Bass:What's your go-to condiment, Joey?

16:45Joey Fatone:Ketchup. I'm a ketchup guy. Very simplistic. Very simple. I'm true of time. Ketchup. I mean, I can do a bunch of other stuff with other things, but, you know, a lot of stuff goes good with ketchup. Hamburger? Ketchup. Hot dog? Ketchup.

16:59Lance Bass:Honestly, anything. French fries? What's the weirdest thing you'll put ketchup on? I have an answer for this, so yeah.

17:05Joey Fatone:Not much, to be honest with you. I'm still even weird about the eggs. Really? You don't put ketchup on your eggs? I love it. But I like it. My husband does the ketchup on eggs. I do. I was like, that's so... Especially on the toast and everything. Almost like a little bit for a flavor, but I see people like... Yes, that's me. That's a lot. What I've realized is they just want the vinegar taste. That's what they're looking for. What about tomato?

17:28Lance Bass:Or it's like that tomato. Yeah.

17:30Joey Fatone:Everyone wants this little vinegar.

17:31Lance Bass:I put ketchup on cottage cheese.

17:33Joey Fatone:Oh, interesting.

17:35Lance Bass:We don't need to talk about it. We can just acknowledge it and move right on. The visual is

17:41Joey Fatone:interesting, but yeah. Imagine it like

17:44Lance Bass:baked ziti.

17:45Joey Fatone:I'll take sour cream, though, and mix it with hot sauce, though, and put it for a burrito. But it's just mixed. That's normal. Unlike cottage cheese and ketchup.

17:53Lance Bass:I was going to say it's kind of like a chunky thousand island dress. No, let's not. We don't need to talk about it. We can just move right on.

18:03Joey Fatone:Okay, I'm not gonna yuck your yum.

18:06Lance Bass:I really appreciate that. And we'll be right back.

18:10Joey Fatone:Hey, it's Ryan Reynolds here for Mint Mobile.

18:32Lance Bass:Upfront payment of$45 for three months,$90 for six months, or$180 for 12 month plan required. $15 per month equivalent. Taxes and fees extra. Initial plan term only. Greater than 50 gigabytes may slow when network is busy. See terms. All right, let's talk about your show, Cocktail Wars. Yes. Is that what it is? How did you guys get, first of all, like, what's your drink of choice? If you're sitting at a bar, someone's like, hey, yo, Lance and Joey.

18:55Joey Fatone:Well, it's so hard, and now that we've done Cocktail Wars, our horizons have expanded, And we're we're loving so many more things and we look cool when we go to a real What's all just found an old-fashioned a man? I'm a coke easy guy, but now like certain things with gin your which is wacky We've never really had a lot of gin drinks, and I was never really introduced I'm like what's your what's your gym drink?

19:21Lance Bass:I don't know

19:22Joey Fatone:Whatever making on the show seriously they made a bunch of things that I have no idea what that is I gotta watch the episodes again. It has to be Ford's gin. Oh. I've learned that I like forged gin. It's just better botanicals. It's very interesting. A lot more botanicals in it. I guess the whole time I was drinking like hot Tangeray. Because you're drinking more like a pine tree, and this more has more like a flower. Yeah, it's not pine tree tasting. Right. Yeah.

19:42Lance Bass:Okay. So what's the... So, okay.

19:45Joey Fatone:Or espresso martinis is how I start the night, though. Oh. And I was drinking these before anyone else was. Thank you very much. I was an old-fashioned, but I was not drinking them before old - And I feel like I was the first to tell people like, make them dark and with the liquor mr. black stop making them creamy and deserty they're horrible that way yeah Madison Square Park had I think Madison Park the restaurant it was the first time I had an espresso martini where they use mr. black like this is it like it really rich yes not as you know little simple syrup not so much simple syrup he likes his man yes we can

20:23Lance Bass:continue on that um wait tell me joey what's your how i like my men well yeah tell me how i'm sorry a little bit of sugar um tell me about old-fashioned how do you what's your old passion

20:37Joey Fatone:you know what my dad honestly that's how it came about literally and honestly i'd go dealer's choice whatever the bartender wants to which way uh for me it was only that or a rusty nail i don't even remember honestly whatever the bartender you guys are all of it's alcohol Whatever it is, there's no really mixer. Just alcohol, alcohol, and ice. I think it's like Drambuie or something like that or something else. I can't remember specifically. Wait, Sarita's going to look it up.

21:02Lance Bass:See, okay, yeah. It's straight up alcohol.

21:04Joey Fatone:There's really nothing in it. Very nice, but it's a rusty nail. It's a bit of a bite. It's a bit of a bite. But again, it's just something that I've always, even when I was a younger age, when my dad gave it to me, I was like, wow, I kind of enjoy this. I'm not mad at it.

21:17Lance Bass:Okay, let me ask, because a few trends that have come through Delish, the porn star martini. Ever had one? Yes.

21:23Joey Fatone:Yes, I've had it. I don't know. What is in a Porn Star Martini? Yes, but yes, I've had a Porn Star Martini before. I forget what's in it, but I've had it and I know the name of it. And you know it and you've heard it.

21:32Lance Bass:All right, what about, what's the one that's going big right now that something's going crazy on the list? A Hugo Spritz. No. Does this thing? Like an Aperol. Porn Star Martini is passion fruit.

21:41Joey Fatone:I love passion fruit.

21:42Lance Bass:And vodka and sparkling wine. Oh. Okay, maybe not sparkling wine, but I love passion fruit and vodka. I love passion fruit too. but Hugo spritz is what I should know these things guys I only run I don't know anything there are so many endless things too much Oh st. Germain St. Germain

22:05Joey Fatone:and Prosecco okay I do live in and you know I'm diabetic so I'm always looking for low sugar stuff so I created this thing I called the gay man's mojito and you replace the rum with vodka and you just muddle mint and lime with vodka a soda and you put a lemon or lime and it's like, that's probably delicious. Very low calorie. Yeah. Amazing. Refreshing. What do you call it again? A gay man's mojito. Why does it have to be a man's mojito? Because we like to make sure that we don't have enough shit. Oh, watch. We got a lot to compete with in West Hollywood. Okay. I got to take our shirts off and get in our little feetos.

22:42Joey Fatone:I guess that's why I'm straight. I'm not sexy and I don't have abs. We wear speedos. I know I don't have abs.

22:46Lance Bass:I actually feel like you could bottle that. You should really talk about it. You should figure that out. Someone's going to.

22:51Joey Fatone:Doesn't Once Your Face have like the skinny girl thing? Yes. He could do it.

22:55Lance Bass:Do you guys want to have a snack? Sure.

22:57Joey Fatone:Always. I'm excited.

22:58Lance Bass:We got two crazy ones for you today. Oh, crap. The first one has not even come out as of this record. It will be live by the time we put this out in the world. This is called Cheetos, and their new flavor is called The Flavor of Fear. Yes. It's a partnership that they're doing with Blumhouse. Okay. Love it. So we're going to try it. Are you guys Halloween? Are you Halloween treat? Huge on Halloween.

23:21Joey Fatone:Lance is the goo. I mean, he always says he loves every holiday. So do I, but Halloween is definitely the one that we... Do you throw a big Halloween party? Honestly, we both... And even JC. Since I was probably 12 years old, I always threw the Halloween party every year. This last year was one of my favorites. We don't eat it yet. We have to eat it together. I'm just smelling it. I'm not eating it. So Halloween... Okay. Go ahead. This is how much I love Halloween. I had my kids born on October 13th just so they can have Friday 13th birthdays every once in a while.

23:50Lance Bass:Stop!

23:52Joey Fatone:Weirdo. That's not bad. It was only four days early, okay? Whatever. And the doctor said it was totally fine. And on the 13th birthday, it's going to be Friday the 13th.

24:01Lance Bass:No!

24:01Joey Fatone:I'm setting them up for success, okay? Grab a chio! Hold on. Grab a chio.

24:04Lance Bass:I'm just explaining my story.

24:05Joey Fatone:And then, so, yeah, so they have to, and they love gory Halloween, thank goodness, because that's what happens.

24:09Lance Bass:Wait, what do you serve at your Halloween parties? Are you someone who serves finger-shaped things and eyeballs?

24:16Joey Fatone:It's different every year. My favorite is when I get the In-N-Out truck. It's a good go-to In-N-Out. This last year, someone who catered Arby's. Because it was going to be a pirate. We have the meat. So it was going to be Arby's. Because I live in Palm Springs half the time, and Walt Disney lived at my house. And so I was like, okay, it's got to be. So the whole thing was Pirates of the Caribbean. But then it became just a dead Disney party. So you had to come as a Disney character. You were a steamed fool.

24:45Lance Bass:Oh my God, that's so fun. That's fun. It was amazing. Okay, cheers. Wait, wait, wait, wait. Let me get one. I gotta get one. Really? Have you ever...

24:51Joey Fatone:You haven't had one yet? No, I'm telling you. I don't even know. I gotta see the bag again, too. Cheers, cheers, cheers. It's nice. Cheers, cheers, cheers. Okay, here we go. It kind of tastes like cinnamon. I hate it. Hang on. Oh. There's the heat. Oh, that's awesome. That's good. It's cinnamon though, right?

25:13Lance Bass:Oh my God, that's really spicy.

25:14Joey Fatone:I was not expecting a sugary cinnamon one. That's awesome.

25:18Lance Bass:I don't know how I feel about the cinnamon. I like it. It's really cinnamon-y.

25:23Joey Fatone:I really wanted that Cheeto flavor.

25:25Lance Bass:Is that taste of fear? Is that what fear tastes like?

25:28Joey Fatone:Yeah, it says the flavor of fear because it says a sweet phantom heat, and yes, it is. That's awesome.

25:34Lance Bass:Well, the phantom heat gets you.

25:36Joey Fatone:After you chew, you're like, oh, this is so sweet, and all of a sudden it just smacks you.

25:38Lance Bass:It tastes like a churro from hell. That's amazing.

25:42Joey Fatone:That's what they should have called it. Churros from hell. Churros from hell. Yeah. I mean, it's good.

25:46Lance Bass:So send all cases. So we should tell Cheetos.

25:49Joey Fatone:I would like to put some beer in my mouth. I was not expecting that. I got another weird one.

25:56Lance Bass:You guys want to try another weird one? Yeah. I love you guys. I love that you guys are interested in this. Oh my God, that's amazing. Guys, I'm really so worried about this.

26:02Joey Fatone:I mean, we did do the show hot ones, and we did not take a swig of any liquid. Really? Oh yeah, nobody didn't. All of us didn't.

26:08Lance Bass:Do you like spicy stuff? I do. of you what's the what's your go-to spicy like what do you want indian i get the the like the

26:39Lance Bass:ranch pop rocks well I am from Mississippi so we love our ranch so let's see they want you to do a caviar bump right we're all gonna try one I I'm obviously too innocent to know I don't even know yeah we're gonna stop it you You guys are funny. Wait, hold on a second. It won't come out. It's kind of like I'm almost... I know. It's like... All right, are we ready?

27:15Joey Fatone:It's like I'm about to make Hidden Valley Ranch. Are we ready?

27:17Lance Bass:One, two, three. Cheers.

27:20Joey Fatone:I'm not mad at that. That is weird.

27:23Lance Bass:Weird. Weird, weird, weird.

27:24Joey Fatone:See, it's like the opposite of what the Cheetos was. I was expecting sweet and sugary, but it's like salty. We know it's actually pretty cool if you put these on chips. Like potato chips.

27:34Lance Bass:Oh, and like that.

27:35Joey Fatone:You got a ranch chip, yeah.

27:37Lance Bass:I'm thinking like popcorn maybe You don't taste are you tasting the ranch even though my mouth's on fire But I'm still spinning from the cinnamon to Joey's point. Yeah, I'm still upset by that other one. Yeah

27:53Joey Fatone:Yeah, we're going straight. I could have fun with this. Yeah, Joey's going straight in I mean this over a nice like oh wait, I just Like a chicken like something like amazing chicken on a drink rice

28:05Lance Bass:What we're gonna say the same thing on a bloody Mary

28:12Joey Fatone:Okay, so good that's wacky that would be wild no Lee Francis Ford Coppola

28:16Lance Bass:That's a lot of ranch guys that was really fun All right I got a little ender ender for me because you guys have been spent so much time We're gonna play game called it's gonna be me.

28:25Joey Fatone:Oh people don't stop me when go look what's that in your pants? I think it's pronounced I swear it's ranch pops.

28:30Lance Bass:Are you going to the airport today? No, thank goodness Okay, good. All right, this one's called It's Gonna Be Me. So basically what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna ask you which one of you is more likely to eat or do the thing that I'm gonna tell you, and one of you is gonna shout out It's Gonna Be Me.

28:45Joey Fatone:Got you, shut up.

28:47Lance Bass:Eating cold pizza.

28:48Joey Fatone:It's gonna be me. Joey.

28:50Lance Bass:Really?

28:50Joey Fatone:You don't eat cold pizza? I mean, I do, but you're more likely. Hell yeah.

28:53Lance Bass:Dessert before dinner.

28:55Joey Fatone:Joey, I'm diabetic. You think so? You know what's so funny? I'm not like a huge dessert. Like I'm more of a salty than a sweet person to be honest with you.

29:03Lance Bass:You're not a sweet person.

29:05Joey Fatone:I am, but I don't go crazy, crazy. Ice cream, yeah, but I'll probably do more salty over sweet.

29:12Lance Bass:Lance, I know you're a diabetic, but like do you crave the sweet?

29:14Joey Fatone:I never really was into sweets. The problem is I never craved sweets. Right, right. But if I start eating it, I'm going to devour it. Because of bread pudding or anything, it's like, oh my gosh, it's so good. But I don't even really start.

29:25Lance Bass:I love that you go straight to bread pudding. Like that's the one. Corn pudding. You're from the South.

29:30Joey Fatone:I want corn pudding.

29:31Lance Bass:All right snacks in bed.

29:33Joey Fatone:Oh My husband I Say no really It's not gonna be me. I will say it's gonna be me I don't do it often as much as I used to back in the day, but I mean back in the day There's been times I woke up with like a cheeseburger like a bed

29:48Lance Bass:Do you what do you eat in bed? Like what's your actual snack in bed? Because that that is an absolute no for me. I will not eat bring food

29:55Joey Fatone:It's something that I can put in a cup. I won't like try to like Like eat out of a bag or on a plate. Yeah, something like M &M's or crackers or something, but I wouldn't necessarily because I don't want the crumbs in my bed. That's why I kind of use the cup. My husband only gets hungry about midnight, so I hear him kind of get up and you hear . And so there's chips in the bed. No. Tons of chocolate candy wrappers everywhere. And we can poop to bed, but it's actually the melted chocolate. I'm like, absolutely not. That's disgusting.

30:23Lance Bass:That's disgusting. Okay. Ordering from the kids menu.

30:26Joey Fatone:Every day. That's you. You got to say, it's going to be me. It's going to be me. There it is. Thank you. It's true because I like variety. And so you can get like two or three of the kids and have like, I want a couple of chicken fingers and a couple of that and a little quesadilla. So you get a taste of a bunch of those.

30:41Lance Bass:Using the kids menu as a like sampler. It's like an appetizer. Kind of cool. It's smart. That's incredibly cool. I feel guilty at the hotel.

30:49Joey Fatone:No, I don't. Or with the kids menu. It's like tapas. There's a kid in here. It's my kid.

30:53Lance Bass:I love that. It's like tapas. All right. Drinking milk from the carton.

30:57Joey Fatone:Mmm, yeah, we're drinking what for what no I wouldn't drink from a carton and I don't even drink that much milk anymore No, but now a bottle of soda. Maybe it's only bottle a two-liter If it's mine, and I know nobody else is gonna get it. Oh, yeah, I don't care about that

31:10Lance Bass:I'm just grabbing it open. I'm good. I was a kid.

31:12Joey Fatone:I don't care either Well, yeah, you know what screw it. I'm an adult. Yeah, I don't care. All right. My house my rule

31:16Lance Bass:It's gonna be me fries dipped in a milkshake

31:18Joey Fatone:It's yes Really? 100 % I mean, you can do regular chocolate shakes as well, but for some reason, the Wendy's Frosty with those fries. Well, it's also different thickness. It's different. Also, Wendy's fries are like a dark horse.

31:34Lance Bass:All right. I'm being told I have to run this. All right. Eating leftovers straight from the fridge.

31:39Joey Fatone:Oh, yeah. It's going to be May. It's going to be May. I would do that to both of us. Yeah, 100 percent. I live off leftovers.

31:45Lance Bass:Oh, wow. This is really funny. Wait, these aren't even right real questions. Okay. I'm like looking at some of these. These are really weird. Okay, the way she has these set up. Okay. Eating SpaghettiOs. Are you guys...

31:59Joey Fatone:No. Yeah. It's not going to be me. That's nasty. I used to. Nope. But now that I look at it... That can't even get clapped. That never went in my house. And the little meatballs. You're like... No. Why did I ever eat that? Chef Boyardee was an insult to us Italians. No disrespect.

32:17Lance Bass:I actually... I could see that. I could see that. Yeah, I couldn't do that. Ravioli in a can. It's not real. It's not real food. Ravi only in a can? People do love it.

32:25Joey Fatone:God bless. I grew up on it. I'm not going to yuck your yum, but not for me.

32:28Lance Bass:I'm not going to yuck your yum. I swear to God. You need a shirt. You guys are the funniest. All right. I think we're going to wrap it up because you guys have killed it today. And I told you this was going to be the most fun interview. I would like to think that. Woo-hoo. It is.

32:41Joey Fatone:My mouth is still on fire from those Cheetos. They were freaking awesome.

32:43Lance Bass:They were really good. They're good. But also, Cocktail Wars, we're going to keep an eye out. Watching you guys get crazy. 10 p.m. So it's on eat you guys getting sloppy you getting drunk dragging you out

32:57Joey Fatone:Though we have to judge What's fun about this show is we do want groups of people to get together on Tuesday night Just have a ladies night guys night and just have fun.

33:08Lance Bass:I have one question for you. Do they do mocktails at all? Yes, okay. Yes, you don't you do you or do you not have an amazing appreciation for people who can make an incredible It is like, I feel like it's more of an art than a cocktail.

33:22Joey Fatone:More of an appreciation now of being on the show and watching what they do. With, what's the drink? The Yerba, sorry, Yerba Madre. Yerba Madre. They use a lot of that. We use it actually in the show, which they use a lot of mocktails for. Yeah, it's Yerba Mate. It's Yerba Mate now. Yerba Mate.

33:37Lance Bass:But it really is an art. It's really incredible how much flavor people can pack into something that has no alcohol. That's great, yeah. And on that note, we're going to come back to you at some point about sausage versus hot dog. Yeah, and we will see you at Olive Garden, I guess, Joey. Yeah. We're pretty excited.

33:54Joey Fatone:Or I'll be over at CityWalk September. Fat ones. Shameless plug.

33:57Lance Bass:Fat ones. We're going to all end up at your place for hot dogs. We're going to do it. We're doing it. Thank you so much for coming. No, it's in.
